Monarchies are only fun in fiction. But overthrowing a monarchy in real life could be very fun

Can we sometimes just take a step back and remember that John never learned what happened on the roof of Bart‘s and why exactly did Sherlock jump and who he jumped for and the snipers and Sherlock‘s tears and the two years of impossible work and the Johnlessness and Serbia and the scars and Sherlock.
John never learned about any of these things. He thought Sherlock left him for a little bit of adventure after stepping off a roof right in front of his eyes, he thought Sherlock enjoyed his little joke of playing dead, he thought Sherlock never trusted him, he thought he has never been important to Sherlock after all.
Even though he has no right to land those blows and kicks on Sherlock, he still has the right to be angry and remain angry.
Remember, unlike us, John has never learned about these things.

small psa to american/non-uk fanfiction writers trying to write dialogue for characters from the uk or europe: stop using pet names
love, pet, duck, sweetheart, babes etc they're all regional pet names you'd probably only encounter in one part of the country, and most of the times the characters using them actually speak queen's english (think the marauder's/ sherlock etc they're upper class characters they're not speaking dialects)
pet names are also really condescending when they're being used by someone of the same age as you - when I'm in the uk I expect to get called love or pet a lot, but only by people my grandparents and parents age who view me as a child, or a creep on the street trying to get overly familiar
I don't know if this is just my personal ick, but it just doesn't sit right in the dialogue for me - think about the dialogue the characters use in the primary content you're writing for, and if they're not speaking in a specific regional dialect/ you can't tell if they are, or they're not a bit of a creep and a flirt, try not to delve into those unspecific pet names
((that is to say if you establish a small pet name between the characters within the fic that would work, or if its a kink related pet name like princess/ baby girl that would probably work too, just not in outside dialogue - we're still pretty stiff upper lip lmao))

I have reason to believe that one of my teachers ships Johnlock. We were watching A Study in Pink after reading a graphic novel of A Study in Scarlet. Each day we have a schedule on the board showcasing that day's agenda. While watching the show there was a picture of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman as Sherlock and John on the board. What makes me think the teacher ships it, is that a small heart was placed between Sherlock and John on top of the image on the slide. I can tell the teacher manually added the heart too.

“Liar.”
—— The Empty Hearse
Remember when Sherlock saw but ignored the ‘Liar’ as he deduced Mary? The reason why he didn't have the heart to tell John was not just because he didn't wish for John to think that he was trying to “meddle” with his life, but more importantly, it was because Sherlock felt like he was in no position to hold Mary hostage for being a liar.
Sherlock knew well enough that being the liar he was, as he had lied to save John he had also almost killed him. He knew well enough that Mary‘s lies were what had pulled John back from the brink once more, so how was he in any position to condemn Mary for committing the same crime as he has only with the result of saving John.
And by urging John to forgive Mary‘s lies, how was Sherlock not wishing, wishing, wishing for John to forgive him as well.
I lied to save you, John. I don't give a damn if she lied for her own sake but she ended up saving you nonetheless.
I don't want to die but I killed myself to save you, John. I would die over and over again to save you, I would step off of a building I would let serial killers suffocate me I would shoot a man point-blank for your wife and embrace the consequence of going on a suicide mission with no return. I would, and I have.
I'm sorry that my lies have hurt you, John. But I am never sorry that those lies have saved you.
I lied to save your life, John.

“Because… you chose her.”
—— SHERLOCK, The Empty Hearse
As for the “you chose her”?
It was not the accusation of Sherlock‘s toward John for choosing Mary‘s lies over his. Because how could John not.
Her lies were pretty dresses decorated with promising smiles and overt affection. Her lies were far less harmful than my vacant pulse under your fingertips or my brains splattered on the pavement in front of your eyes.
You chose her. It is what it is.

I love how Arthur uses the excuse of looking for anything related to magic as an excuse to see Merlin’s room and to flirt with him. Because no they wouldn’t normally search the rooms in the castle because they trust everyone there, and then Arthur leaves with the guards immediately after searching Merlin’s room even though they had barely gone through Gaius’ chambers.

so, just realized that since I'm getting fairly good at writing in (if not casually speaking) Old English, I can absolutely make, write and say aloud the type of spells used in that Merlin show
um yeah
idk what do w that information
besides. make some spells. for fun
I don't rly go here
...if anyone in the Merlin fandom writes fic/rps/etc and wants custom spells, hi, I'm here, I would do that.
hi
EDIT: apparently the BBC Merlin magic system also uses Ogham script? ok weird but sure I like the vibes... anyway, while I can't speak ANY form of Gaelic (or Latin btw. I speak OE and thats IT), I can write in Ogham script, like the writing system itself, in either modern or Old English. not sure what language is being used re: the Ogham in Merlin tho
...but if u want that. I can also do that.
