#because obi-wan is of course only there to get anakin to return to the jedi or leave the sith

au where obi-wan gets prophetic dreams of anakin’s fall but they’re the kenobi show montage dreams where nothing useful can be gleaned about how to stop it; so obi-wan decides he just needs to leave the order. anakin is only 12, he can be trained by another master. obi-wan didn’t even have a master when he was 12. anakin will be fine. stars, he’ll probably be better.
of course he’s not and of course obi-wan abandoning him pushes him closer to palpatine and he falls much sooner, becoming a baby sith that palpatine mostly farms out to dooku for training because anakin at 16, 17, 18 is a lot
and when he falls, the jedi order is like hm. we’re gonna tell kenobi about this. cause now skywalker is a sith with a sith master, and a grudge the size of coruscant against the guy who left him, so. let’s just give him a heads up to maybe consider going into hiding
but of COURSE when obi-wan hears his precious padawan STILL FELL he goes right to count dooku and asks to be his apprentice, he’d make such a good apprentice, dooku always liked him when he was qui-gon’s padawan, remember? now he could be his apprentice
dooku knows that with skywalker, 19 and well-trained now in the picture, his usefulness to sidious is running out, so he doesn’t have a lot of reasons to say no to kenobi. and kenobi is right. he did always like him when he was qui-gon’s apprentice, so sure he’ll give him a sith name (solence) and a red lightsaber (sick)
but basically this leads to very awkward sith family dinners where darth vader--is trying to kill darth solence with his eyes and sometimes the nearest oyster fork, darth solence is throwing sad kicked puppy expressions across the table at darth vader and sighing into his dessert pudding all the while debating with darth tyranus about how good the dark side could really be, i mean, if one were to really think about it, especially in comparison to the life we all led at the Temple, remember anakin? you loved life at the Temple.
darth sidious stopped accepting the invites five dinners ago.

Codywan Headcanon/AU that lives rent free in my head
I think my favorite codywan headcanon/AU is that they are just so good at being professional and discreet when they need to, for literal years, that no one knows they are a thing.
Like my favorite idea of codywan is that they both agree their duties and obligations come first. Honestly they kinda deal with it like a business contract. They sit down and agree: yes they have feelings for each other, yes they want to be together, yes they want as much as a relationship as they can get now since they both never know when one of them might die, yes they need to put their war duties first, yes Obi-wan will always put his Jedi duties first, yes Cody will always put protecting and creating a future for his brothers first, yes the will keep this relationship under raps as it could be under scrutiny for breaking GAR and Jedi rules, yes they will only act as a couple when off duty.
They are just the opposite of Anakin and Padme, no one knows about them. Cody and Obi-wan aren’t trying to hide it per say, they just are so good at being The Commander and The General that no one would ever think they were anything but professional coworkers and maybe friends. Even if there are signs they may be more, their friends and family overlook them because ‘Cody’s too strict about following the regs to be interested in a relationship’ or ‘Obi-wan is too focused on being a model Jedi and following the Code to be in a relationship’.
They are too good at balancing their lives and being ‘The Unproblematic Couple™’.
So when the war ends and they defeat Palpatine, save Anakin and get the clones rights (because we only Stan happy endings in this Codywan house), they both agree mutually to take a break.
Cody takes time to find himself away from the GAR and being The Commander. He spends time with his brothers and helping them all find their feet once they leave the GAR. He helps build a life for them all, while also taking time to find who he is besides a soldier.
Obi-wan spends time reconnecting with Anakin and Ahsoka, making amends with both of them. Getting to finally return to being a peacekeeper and not a General at war. I imagine he would maybe step down from the council to just be a simple Jedi. Not Master of Sorensu, youngest ever High council member, The Negotiator, General, or Sith Killer.
After their short break they agree to start meeting up again, seeing if they still feel the way they did about each other when not in the stressful environment of war and an army setting. But, lo and behold, they still of course love each other. (All the while everyone just assumes it’s Obi-wan and Cody meeting up as ex. Coworkers. They used to be the best of FRIENDS during the war)
After Obi-wan sees Anakin is fine (living with his wife and kids) and the rest of the Order isn’t in dire need of his help, and Cody sees his brothers are finding their feet in the world without need of his leadership, they both just decide they’ve been dating long enough (a few year during and after the war) and they’ve put other duties ahead of theirs relationship long enough.
They just fucking get married and buy a house. Obi-wan leaves the order and Cody moves away from his brother. And they just get married.
WHICH COMES OUT OF NOWHERE TO EVERYONE ELSE. Everyone’s like “??!!!”, “since when have you two ever been together?!”
And fucking Obi-wan and Cody (with biggest deadpan older brother energy) just say “oh yeah, since like the middle of the war? We thought you guys knew? It just never came up in conversation?”
Just absolutely bamboozling everyone in their lives. Rex and Anakin both are like “YoU nEvEr ThOuGhT tO tElL mE? YoUr BrOtHeR?”. Cue Obi-wan and Cody vaguely shrugging and saying ‘there were more important things going on’.
But yeah I just like the idea of Cody and Obi-wan jump scaring their families with their relationship.

Padme and you have been friends for years, you grew up around each other. When Padme was elected Queen at just the age of 14, you were so happy for her. Despite being childhood friends, you're a couple years younger than her.
She took you everywhere, and of course when the people were under attack, she wanted to keep you as close as possible.
You met Anakin the same time that Padme did. Anakin was 9 years old, and Padme was of course, 14. You fell between them in age, only 1 year older than Anakin, meanwhile 4 years younger than Padme.
Anakin took a liking to Padme, while you took a liking to him.
By the end, Padme and your parents decided to send you to the Jedi Temple. You weren't force sensitive and you weren't to be trained. But during the conflict, enemies were constantly targeting you. Your family was a powerful one, and you'd be easier to take out compared to the Queen. So while your family dealt with their affairs, you were to stay at the Temple. If you requested to return home, you must come with a body guard.
So you grew up in the temple, alongside Anakin. You weren't particularly close. Obi-Wan wasn't the one who watched over you unless he had to.
The older you and Anakin got, the more you became friends.
When Anakin turned 16, he kissed you. It was your first kiss and you were shocked at first. But you couldn't think of anyone better to share it with.
You knew you loved him. It became more and more obvious. You never told anyone about it, always worried that it would get Anakin kicked out of the Jedi.
You never talked about your odd relationship with each other. Anakin would always be the one to make a move first, you were too hesitant.
When you were 19, Anakin 18, the tension between you was always thick. He couldn't be around you for too long before he would get excited.
It was like a flip switched for him, constantly wanting to be inside you. One of the times, he saw you staring at him whilst he was training. No one else was in the room, so he took his chance. Not caring if you both were to get caught.
You almost did get caught. Multiple times.
You always wanted more from him, wanting to be with him. But you knew it wasn't possible. Nothing serious at the least.
After Padme became a Senator, she needed body guards. Obi-Wan and Anakin were selected, and since you knew Padme, you were allowed to go along with them.
As soon as Anakin saw Padme, you just knew. You could see it in his eyes, the way he looked at her and not you. He looked at you with a look of...friendship? But other times with lust.
The way he looked at Padme was nothing of how he looked at you. He looked at her with love, adoration. The sensual stare he gave her, was the exact stare you often gave to him.
Padme didn't seem interested at all. At least at first. Throughout the mission, she started to change.
You had to watch the entire time as your best friend slowly fell in love with the man you had loved for years.
You never told Padme, about the dynamic you shared with Anakin.
Anakin would still come to you at night, the stress of the mission getting to him.
The night he cut ties with you was the same night you decided to go back home. You told yourself that you would rather have the chance of dying by a family enemy than to see Padme with Anakin.
Anakin had you bent over the bed of the spare room you were given. It was well past midnight, everyone sound asleep. No present threats.
His right hand ran through his sandy colored hair, his other rested on your hip. Your face was shoved into a pillow, attempting to muffle your moans. Anakin's lips were raw and red, biting down on his lower lip to discourage his own sounds.
And then it happened. He was at his climax and you were too. But when a name fell from his mouth in a whimper. It wasn't yours.
You both immediately realized as he came to a full stop. You quickly pulled away from him. Hurt shown on your face as you quickly got dressed.
He apologized over and over as you threw your clothes back on.
"I didn't mean it-" He whisper yelled at you, grabbing your arm to stop you.
"You said her name. When you're with me. I don't know what we are, but Anakin I have done nothing but wait for you. I was the one who was there when you came back from hard missions. I was the one there when life as a Jedi Padawan was hard...and the really fucking sad part is that I can't even be mad at you." Your eyes filling with tears, sniffles escaping you.
"I never asked you to wait for me." Anakin said harshly, never making eye contact, just staring at the ground.
"We should stop." He continued, his tone softer. You didn't say anything, just staring at him for a second.
Not saying anything, you yanked your arm back from his grip. Leaving the room as quietly as possible, instead going to take a shower as you thought everything over.
Obi-Wan agreed to take you back home when he saw how distraught you looked, even after putting yourself together.
A couple of months pass by, Anakin never told Padme about you, and you still never said a word to her. She was your best friend and you just wanted her to be happy. It would kill you inside anytime she called you and told you about him.
Back home on Naboo, your parents decided it was time for you to marry. They gave you a list of bachelors to choose from.
You finally settled on a man. You liked him and knew that you could grow to love him too. You held off on the wedding, even on the engagement. Just dating and getting to know each other.
You felt...happy? As happy as you could be at the least. He wasn't like Anakin and you weren't sure if that was a good thing or a bad one.
You still loved Anakin, your heart ached for him.
Your future fiancé wanted to take your relationship to the next level but you just couldn't.
You couldn't give yourself to someone, not the way you did with Anakin. He haunted your thoughts.
Padme surprised you with a visit, Anakin and Obi-Wan tagging along too. You avoided Anakin as much as possible. Even during the introduction between your boyfriend and the others.
Padme liked your boyfriend, she thought he was a good choice for you. Obi-Wan approved but Anakin just stayed silent, glaring daggers at the man.
The visit lasted about a week, they weren't staying with you but would come over at least once everyday. You didn't mind since Padme and you were basically sisters.
Anytime Anakin was over, it's like he was trying to get on your nerves. One of the times, Anakin was drinking a glass of water as he leaned against the kitchen counter. Padme had her back to Anakin, sitting across from you on a couch. Your boyfriend sat next to you, an arm around you. He pressed a kiss to your cheek and then you heard breaking glass.
You all promptly turned towards the noise, seeing the cup shattered on the floor as he worked on cleaning it up.
Another time, you and Anakin were in your garden. He obviously had to say something but you kept ignoring him. Just walking away. Padme was resting and your boyfriend was out of the house. He practically chased you around the garden, asking all these questions.
"When did you meet him?"
"Why are you even with him? You couldn't have found someone better?" His questions nagged at the back of your mind, starting to give you a headache.
"Why? Jealous?" You scoffed, tending to one of the nearby flowers.
"Maybe I am jealous. Why does that matter? Have you even told him about me?"
"Why would I tell him about you? You're the one who ended it." You'd remind him, dusting yourself off as you stood, walking towards the fountain. Just wanting some kind of distance.
Anakin would grab your arm, stopping you just like he tried to that night. He'd stare at you, not knowing what to say. "He isn't me." Being the only sentence he can form.
"He isn't you." You vocalize, confirming it. Still unaware of it being good or bad.
"He never will be." Anakin says, frustration evident on his face.
"Anakin just stop. You can't toy with me like this. You chose Padme. You can't just come after me because I'm supposed to marry." Anakin's bottom lip trembles at your words.
"I can't be apart from you. I thought that I wanted Padme. But I just didn't realize I wanted you more. I'm in physical pain when I see him with you. That should be me." Anakin drops to his knees in front of you, his mental pain splayed across his face.
"I would destroy myself and the world if it meant you would forgive me." Anakin's eyes show the agony he feels and it's getting to you.
"You're with Padme. I can't ask you to leave her. She's still my best friend." The sadness in your own voice catches you off guard.
"I don't think Padme ever wanted to be with me." Anakin answered honestly.
"Anakin...I can't say yes to you. Even if I wanted to. I have to marry someone, my parents expect me to." I try to gentle the blow of rejection on him but he persists.
"I'll marry you. I'd do anything to be with you. I'll leave the Jedi Order." He spurts out a string of words.
"Anakin, you're not leaving the order for me. Talk to Padme, if you find a solution...I'll listen." You say, talking your hand back from him and exiting the garden, going back to your home.
A couple of days go by, oddly quiet. Padme and Anakin hadn't stopped by. You broke up with your boyfriend, telling him that you just weren't ready to be committed to him. Your parents were upset and set their sights on looking for a new bachelor until you could stick to one.
You just stayed at home reading books, taking care of your plants and cooking for yourself.
Your kitchen is a mess, ingredients everywhere when the front door opens revealing Padme and Anakin.
"You didn't tell me?" Padme announces, making your blood run cold.
"How couldn't you tell me?" She says as she walks towards you, pulling you into an embrace.
"Our relationship comes before anyone." She states.
"I don't care if you love him. I don't care if he loves you." Padme chimes in, breaking away from the hug before whispering.
"I think I'm a lesbian anyways..." Your eyes widen while Anakin laughs behind Padme.
"Just had to outright say it?" He raises his eyebrow.
"Yep, I'm leaving now, you guys get to talk about what happens between you now." She waves as she closes the front door with her exit.
Anakin looks at you nervously, "I'm still willing to quit being a Jedi..." He chides, trying to give himself some relief.
"You don't have to, we can just...have a private wedding..." You smile, basically tackling him in a hug. Your legs wrap around him as he secures you in place.
He grins down at you, "Yeah, I'd like that."

It’s been over half a year since I did a set of STAR WARS fic recs that weren’t pairing-focused, but I have been reading fic along the way! And sometimes you want fic that’s not about ships, no matter how much you love them, sometimes you just want to read about friendships or you want to read some cool worldbuilding or you only want the plot, and Star Wars fandom has been lovely about that. Hell, sometimes you just want to cry about how much you love the Jedi and you want to share that affection with other people, through the incredible experience of telling stores about them, like they were trying so hard and they were right about so many things and they were dying for years to try to help the galaxy, and teaching about how emotional regulation is good actually, and sometimes you want to show that through the disaster trio and sometimes you want to yell about how good Mace Windu is and sometimes you want to love frog grandpa and sometimes you want to get into a fistfight to defend Luminara’s honor and sometimes you want the whole Order sitting down to a family dinner and sometimes you want fic where Anakin and Mace actually get along and so many other things! So, here’s a collection of some excellent fic that I think most people should be able to find at least something to enjoy, whether you’re looking for fun disaster lineage shenanigans or heartbreaking pain because Star Wars Is Pain or some awesome Jedi Order worldbuilding or some all too rare Mace Windu Appreciation fic, I HOPE YOU ENJOY. WHAT KIND OF FIC YOU’LL FIND HERE:

I can’t remember if I requested this, but here. I know that you made some sleeping headcanons for the OT trio, so could you do one for the PT as well?
Sleeping Headcanons: The Prequel Trio
A/N: Of course I can, angel. Have some sleepy headcanons for these three hot-ass messes. 🛏
Anakin
Tumblr media
I feel it is important to state the fact that, as a Padawan, he often slept on the floor, next to Obi-wan’s bed, because he was worried about losing him as he had his mother and Qui Gon.
This habit has kind of stuck with him, in that he likes to be close to you.
Personal space? He doesn’t know what the concept means.
He likes sleeping next to you and will be touching you at all times during the night, even if you don’t realise it at first.
The physical intimacy, and security, of having you in his arms help ease any nightmares or concerns he may have about losing you.
He’s also used to sleeping in unusual places. From his tiny bed as a child -which he shared with his mother - to on the floor of far off planets, whilst on missions… he can sleep anywhere and doesn’t take long to drop off.
He also doesn’t really hog the sheets either, given that he’s used to sleeping without them on warm planets. He also has you next to him as a portable heater, which means as long as you’re toasty then he will be too.
It also means that you wake up most mornings, to find him tangled about you, with his face buried in your chest, his hair all ruffled and fluffy.
It’s when he looks most at peace, and this is one of the reasons you two are nearly almost always late out of bed in the mornings (much to everyone’s amusement).
You just don’t have the heart to wake him and spoil the moment… even if it does mean putting up with constant teasing from Ahsoka.
Obi-Wan
Tumblr media
This poor man needs a nap. Like, constantly.
He is always on the move… usually chasing after Anakin or some other chaos that he’s somehow got himself dragged in to, and it surprises no one that he always looks minutes from passing out.
It’s a bit of a joke amongst you all, but you all know that if he’s sleeping then you do not wake him unless you have to - he’s earned five minutes of peace.
In fact, more than once, he’s woken up after passing out somewhere to find a blanket has been draped over him by someone.
(Anakin swears he saw him dozing in the archives once, but you can’t tell if he’s lying or not)
When Obi does make it to a bed then he’s a light sleeper, I feel.
This doesn’t change, even after the Jedi order collapses. He wakes easily, and will often struggle to return to sleep.
Pre-Order 66 this would usually mean some kind of morning meditation, or getting up to make a tea to drink in bed beside you. However, after the order, you usually find him tinkering away at something or staring out at the rising suns in a bid to pass the time until you also wake.
I think he’s also keen on having some kind of tether to you when in bed, but he has no qualms being the little spoon from time to time.
Actually, he rather like being able to let his guard down and just sleep, head pressed against your chest, listening to your steady heartbeat.
He’s also been known to melt when you run your hands through his hair just so - a fact you enjoy teasing him with.
He also snores (though he denies it. Adamantly)
Padmé
Tumblr media
This angel sleeps soundly most nights, and is only too happy to let you crawl in next to her.
She (like Obi-wan) isn’t always known for getting rest, as she always insists there is work to be done.
However, she will often at least agree to sitting in bed beside you, staring down at some draft of a Senate bill.
It’s a decent compromise as eventually her eyelids droop and she is forced to give in, and nestle down next to you.
Most mornings you find her like that, with her papers still cast about the place just inches from her hand, where they fell when she eventually passed out.
Before she sleeps, however, Padmé would enjoy the sight of you resting next to her, your body curling up against hers.
It is one of the few precious moments she gets to just pause and be content.
The other is waking up beside you, normally as soon as the sun rises.
It’s also the time when she doesn’t have to be dressed in her finery, with her hair pulled up or her person decorated with jewels and other tokens befitting her status.
She is simply Padmé, with her hair flowing and a loose silky nightgown - unencumbered and at her most natural.
To see her like it is a privilege, and one not to be taken for granted.

obikin au based on this quote from Star Wars Jedi Quest: The Way of the Apprentice
"He was happy for Anakin's skill and growing command of the Force. But he wished a simple thing for Anakin. It was something he could not give his Padawan. it was not a gift he could hand over, like a well-loved river stone. He wished for a friend."
Obi-Wan wants nothing more than for Anakin to have a friend at the Jedi Temple. Not because he minds being the only person Anakin has to share a laugh, or confide, but because he knows how important it is to have friends while one is growing up at the Jedi Temple.
He likes being his Padawan's friends, showcasing that their relationship is not that of a traditional 'Master-Padawan', since they're different from everyone else. But he still feels as if Anakin needs friends beyond himself.
Meanwhile, Anakin wants Obi-Wan's love and attention more than anything in the world. He wants to be Obi-Wan's everything as Obi-Wan is everything to him. However, he had his heart broken when he caught sight of Obi-Wan having multiple one night stands, some of them jedi knight or masters they know.
Anakin then gets into his head that, if he wants Obi-Wan's love, he has to prove to the older man that he too can be unemotional and free of attachments, not needing emotional affection to connect (he's lying to himself).
He tries to sleep around, but finds himself unable to and meets another padawan, who helps him figure out why he can't. He forms a friendship with this padawan, who takes away the sting of Obi-Wan's unwilligness to deeply connect with Anakin.
Obi-Wan then leaves for a month on a standard mission while Anakin gets left behind and when Obi-Wan returns he expects his padawan to greet him like usual, but Anakin is nowhere to be found.
Obi-Wan then learns that Anakin has a friend at the temple, something he had always hoped it would happen! But then... why is he feeling so... weird about Anakin having a friend?
Queue jealous Obi-Wan because a padawan is stealing his Anakin's attention away from him and Obi-Wan needs it for... teaching purposes, nothing more.
Not because he misses Anakin's presence by his side. Of course not.

Would anyone care for some unsolicited fanfic recs in this trying time?
Star Wars (because I have no other life):
(Re)convene by Nightfall_1409:
10 years after sacrificing himself for the Rebellion, Ezra Bridger is offered the chance to turn back the clock and alter the course of history forever- the Force sending back with him a ragtag band of heroes, all whom have proven themselves worthy of the chance, all of whom have the drive to prevent the events that turned their lives into living nightmares, all of whom have the chance to save their loved ones from their fates.
Now 35 years in the past, returned to the era of the Republic 6 years before the rise of the Empire, 3 years before the start of the Clone Wars, he has to unite his scattered allies- Ahsoka Tano, Din Djarin, Boba and Omega Fett- and put together the puzzle of what caused the galaxy to fall, or they'll all be doomed to watch it happen again.
Personal Thoughts:
I really like this one. Time travel is my favorite trope. It’s well written, it draws you in, and the author has done an excellent job of mashing up Legends and Canon in fun and unique ways.
It has everything: Force Sensitive Omega, Tired Space Dad Din Djarin accidentally becoming a main character, Ezra and Anakin as chaotic besties, no Jedi bashing, and much more that would be spoilers.
The author tries to update twice a month. It’s really good. Also this is the only one I’m including the summary for because I’m lazy.
Time-Traveling Artoo by SpiderMansUnfriendlyNeighbor
Crack fic go brrrr. Seriously though, it’s just Artoo fucking with Sidious and then kidnapping children to matchmake. I was laughing the whole way through.
A Means of Survival by LessAttitudeMoreAltitude
In which Ursa finds a half dead Jedi Padawan named Caleb and the Mandalorian Adoption instinct activates. Listen, Sabine has decided the Jetti’ad is her favorite person, they can’t just not adopt him
The Time Heals ‘verse by jessicas_pi
Force Sensitive Sabine travels back in time to the Clone Wars, accidentally bonds with a Force Entity that I’m 99% sure is the Brother, becomes Obi-Wan’s Padawan, and keeps accidentally-on-purpose bringing people back to the past.
Also Quinlan Vos is there.
It’s Sabezra if that’s a turn off for anyone.
You Either Die A Hero… by RennyBanette
The 501st gets trapped in a time loop on Umbara. Delightful crack full of Krell murder and fire.
The Desert Storm by Blue_Sunshine
This is the Star Wars time travel fic. It’s so good. 4 years after the fall of the Republic Obi-Wan gets caught in a sandstorm, and when it passes he’s back in time when Anakin’s just a three year old clinging to his mom’s skirt.
Naturally, Obi-Wan frees the Skywalkers, changes his name to Ben Naasade, takes his younger self as a Padawan, and gives Mace Windu so many headaches.
Featuring: Jedi Shmi Skywalker, Pong Krell getting his shit wrecked, Legends stuff, Jedi Shmi Skywalker, Mandalorians being awesome, Alderaan being awesome, Jedi Shmi Skywalker, Obitine, the Sith being evil and creepy, and most importantly, Jedi Knight Shmi Skywalker

Reckless
Tumblr media
Pairing: Obi-wan Kenobi x Reader (Ft. Anakin)
Inspiration: Star Wars Episode 2
Warnings: None
Summary: You mediate some tension between Obi-wan and Anakin.
You were in the weapons room working on realigning the kyber crystal inside of your lightsaber after it had been knocked around on the last mission. It was a delicate process that you had finished up and you began to bolt down the outer casing.
The doors opened and Obi-wan walked in, his footsteps thunderous than their usual gait. Silently, he took a seat opposite you and watched as the last of the sparks flew from your lightsaber as it was back in top shape.
You lifted the protective headwear and placed it to the side. Then you rested your elbows against the table top and leaned forward to stare at the man.
“What’s wrong?” You inquired kindly.
Obi-wan smiled and leaned in a little as well. “You’re taking Anakin as your Padawan.” He told you as if it was a long kept secret.
You tilted your head and squinted. There had been no communication from the Jedi Masters about a move so this was certainly Obi-wan being slightly dramatic.
“No, I don’t think so.”
Obi-wan sighed and leaned back, his smile quickly turning into a frown. “Well, I can’t mentor him. He has no intention of listening. And he’s prone to just ‘doing’ and not thinking about the consequences.”
He picked up your lightsaber and examined the hilt. “Nice work, by the way.”
You thanked him and tapped the edge of the table. Flattery worked but it only deflected on the matter that needed attention.
“How can I help?” You offered.
Obi-wan set the weapon down. “Talk to him. Please - just anything that will stop him from being so reckless.”
It was unlike him to plead and you’d be lying if it wasn’t slightly amusing which made a smile bloom on your face.
“I’m being quite serious.”
You stilled the smile and cleared your throat. “Of course.” You chuckled. “I’ll speak to Anakin when he returns. Although I’m not sure that it’ll convince him entirely about jumping out of flying vehicles.”
Obi-wan rest his hand over yours. “But you’ll try, yes?”
To put his mind at ease, you nodded and then took your lightsaber and returned it to the holster on your belt. You took your leave from the room and wandered out into the halls where it was filled with masters and padawan alike.
There wasn’t anything quite like the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. The Force was strong here. You had a fairly free agenda so you chose to wander about the outdoor training grounds. The nature mingled with the skyline was breathtaking. It was a short walk from where you were and you met with a few padawans who were eager to ask you questions on the way.
Once they had what they were after, you walked through the arched doorway on the terrace and noticed that it was currently empty except for someone you hadn’t expected - Anakin.
You made your way over to him and saw that he too was enjoying the view. You had actually taught him to take deep breaths here when he was feeling nervous or worried to clear his mind.
“I thought you were due back a little later today?” You asked, approaching to stand by his side and admired the view.
“Figured I’d get back early to prepare for the next mission.” Anakin replied honestly.
You nodded and figured that you could address his behaviour while you had him around with no prying eyes or ears. “Speaking of missions, how was the last one?”
Anakin’s posture deflated. “My master sent you to talk to me, didn’t he?” He realised and you let out a chuckle.
“Obi-wan doesn’t tell me where to go.” You corrected. “But he did ask to me to speak with you because he’s a little worried.”
There was a sigh from the padawan, he turned to look at you. “I don’t mean to worry him, I just have a different way of doing things. I feel like Obi-wan wants me to do everything his way but I can’t.”
You hummed. Obi-wan did have a small habit of trying to shape the boy into his little mirror. It wasn’t a bad thing but even he sometimes forgot that Anakin wasn’t a puppet.
“I’ll talk to him about that but in the meantime, do you think you could do me a favour and be a little more careful? You and Obi-wan are the closest I have to family and I can’t lose either of you.”
Anakin frowned and shook his head. “You won’t lose me, Y/n. I promise I’ll be more careful.”

You might have to be more specific than that. Most of what we see done with the Force is perfectly normal, like being able to block blaster bolts with a lightsaber and stuff, so I guess I'll try to hit on some of the bigger more controversial uses of the Force and see if these answer your questions. Keep in mind that the Force is generally a pretty SOFT magic system and while there are definitely some guidelines to it, there's a lot you can get away with via "rule of cool" here.
Somehow Palpatine returned: Arguably Palpatine living is actually perfectly within canon given that we have examples of Sith characters living through shit that should've killed them, most obviously Maul (something done by Lucas himself so we can't just blame it all on Disney bringing characters back). But within Disney canon there's also the Grand Inquisitor and Reva who both live through injuries that seem like they should've killed them by utilizing the dark side to sustain them. So Palpatine living is actually perfectly do-able within canon in terms of "how the Force works", regardless of how stupid it was NARRATIVELY and how annoying I find the trend in general.
Luke's Force projection: This doesn't seem like that weird to me, it's definitely NEW and not something we saw anybody else doing in prior films, but it's also not something anyone else would've truly benefited much from and given that it kills Luke almost immediately afterward, it's clearly a VERY last resort option and only really useful as a distraction anyway. It's not that far off of the whole Force Ghost idea to me and sort-of draws on the idea that the Jedi are empaths to some degree, so I'm not too fussed about this. It's fun and I appreciate all the clues about what's happening that are THERE if you look for them but not necessarily super obvious before the reveal.
Leia saving herself from the vacuum of space: I don't dislike this one either, actually. Leia's got a couple of seconds or so in which she can react to a warning from the Force somehow and while we don't see any other Jedi actively fighting in space without a suit or anything, we DO see Plo Koon fighting in space with nothing but his air mask which should still kill him and somehow doesn't, so it's not like Leia surviving this is completely out of the realm of possibility to me. Besides, it's the first super explicit use of the Force Leia got in the films and pissed off a lot of crybaby fanboys who were convinced Leia wasn't Force sensitive, so I'm willing to give it a lot of grace for that alone.
The Force dyad: I actually don't have an issue with the mechanics of the dyad and more have an issue with the way it's utilized in the narrative. Personally, I find it a little silly that some sort of extra special Force connection would exist between two people at THIS point in time and not like... when a literal child of prophecy was alive. If I was going to believe there was a special Force connection between ANYBODY, it would've been Anakin/Obi-Wan (narratively foiled anyway and involves a child of prophecy) or Luke/Leia (twin children of the child of prophecy separated at birth for their own safety). And of course, if it HAD to be in the Sequel trilogy for whatever reason, we all know it should've been Finnrey, for a MULTITUDE of reasons. The other issue I have with the dyad is that they change it from Snoke creating it specifically to mess with Kylo in TLJ to their connection being some sort of special prophecized thing by TROS, so it's not even clear in the narrative what precisely the damn thing even IS or why Rey and Kylo even HAVE IT because the stupid directors and studio execs couldn't agree on it I guess.
Force healing: I know some people have major issues with this one and I get why, but it honestly doesn't bother me that much. TROS explains it as being a byproduct of the dyad anyway, something ONLY these people can do because being connected the way they are allows them to access powers no one else could. It's one of the ways I think the dyad DOES work in the sense that if they're going to give these two characters this special connection then hey fuck it why not use it to let them have a special Force power a lot of fans want to see but that wouldn't really make sense in any other context? I'm obviously NOT a huge fan of "Force healing resurrection via True Love's Kiss" or whatever, but the general concept of Force healing coming from the dyad works fine for me. It's a little heavy handed and on the nose, but... it's fine.
Leia saving Kylo through... "Force whammy"?: This is the big one I hate, this is the one I cannot STAND. If Sith/Dark siders could just be Force whammied into not being evil anymore, WHY DID NOBODY DO THIS TO ANAKIN. Why isn't Obi-Wan trying this from Tatooine, why doesn't Ahsoka try this, why doesn't Yoda or Luke try this? Yes, it kills Leia to do it, but if it whammies Anakin away from being dark and turns him against the Emperor earlier, WHY NOT DO IT. And where would Leia have even LEARNED HOW TO DO THIS, why did she WAIT so long to do it if she knew how this whole time? But the biggest reason I hate this is because it fucks up the entire theme of Star Wars which is CHOICE. If the Sith and Darksiders can just be Force whammied into goodness again, it takes away the CHOICE they need to make to be good. It's SO SO VITALLY IMPORTANT that these characters CHOOSE TO BE GOOD AGAIN if that's the path they're going to go down. It's important that they chose to evil and it's important that they choose to be good again. A Force whammy isn't a fucking choice, it's Leia just... jumpstarting Kylo's brain or whatever. It's just wiping out the things causing him to be evil I guess so that it's just no longer a problem. It's cheating, it's STUPID. And if they'd gone with the idea that Kylo was genuinely being like mind-controlled by Snoke into doing the things he's doing and that none of this WAS his choice and so the Force whammy allows him to finally make his own choices again, that would be one thing, but both TFA and TLJ emphasize that this isn't the case, Kylo is MAKING THESE CHOICES ON HIS OWN and continues to make them no matter how many people offer him another chance to do better. It doesn't matter if it's his father or Rey or Luke, Kylo just KEEPS MAKING THE SAME CHOICES, even after Snoke is dead. A Force whammy should do NOTHING to Kylo because he's not being controlled and it takes away the entire point of Kylo's story being that he CHOSE TO BE EVIL and that he, unlike Anakin, cannot just be saved by love alone. This one stinks, this isn't how the Force works, and it's not how this narrative works.
The only other controversial thing I could think of was how quickly Rey learns to do things, but that's not so much a matter of "how the Force works" because everything she does is pretty basic Force skills like telepathy, telekinesis, and mind tricks.

Chapter 3: The Escape
Obi-Wan Kenobi x Reader
Warnings: fluff, BANTER, slight injuries, violence, sacrifice (if you squint), bad weather (if that's a warning?), Anakin is a menace, Obi-Wan and Reader get pretty close at some point 👀.
Summary: With your true identity revealed, it's determined that you must accompany Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka back to The Jedi Temple on Coruscant. However, a number of setbacks block your escape from Hoth— some atmospheric, a few mechanical, others tall and hairy.

‘Tis fate diverts our course, and fate we must obey — Virgil
“Wow.”
Anakin leaned back in Obi-Wan’s former seat, supporting his head with hands nearly intertwined. You watched as the gears turned, his mouth loosely open and eyebrows tensed.
“And you’re…?”
“Yes.” You confirmed.
“And your master is…?”
“Yup.”
“And your eyes are…?”
“Uh-huh.”
“Because…?”
“Yes sir.”
He lifted a hand with a finger loosely pointing in the air, mouth agape before stopping himself. Confusion washed over his expression. You reveled in the brief peace as Anakin returned to his thoughts. But that gift did not last nearly long enough.
“And your…”
“Let’s just assume the answer is yes.” You interrupted while raising a hand to cut him off, closing your eyes in irritation.
You were reaching your wit's end.
“Obi-Wan took this much better.” You murmured, rubbing your temples.
Anakin grumbled, crossing his arms in defense. “Well, Obi-Wan isn’t The Chosen One.”
“Obi-Wan is standing right here.” He gibbed from his perch just beside Anakin’s seat, a hand resting on its ear with legs loosely crossed.
“Well I, for one, am glad we found you.” Ahsoka interrupted from her place crisscrossed on the floor. She locked her mischievous eyes with yours, a smug smirk pulling at the corner of her mouth. “Someone needs to keep my Master in check.”
You beamed brightly, wordlessly thanking her for the support. Then, a sudden spark went off behind her eyes. Her head tilted quizzically at you.
“Wait, how did Qui-Gon find you? I mean, it sounds like The Order had no idea you existed, so it’s not like he could’ve found some record of you.”
You thought of her words carefully, looking up to the ceiling to delve into your memories. The other two Jedi turned toward you expectantly.
“I’m…actually not sure.”
You took a moment, trying to remember any information your Master dispensed about your beginnings.
“When I was very young.” You started. “I once asked Qui-Gon if he was my father. I was still trying to understand concepts like Master and family through my studies. And as the only human I’d known, his presence was very confusing.”
You smiled at the memory of your childlike imagination. “Obviously, he said no, explaining concepts like Master and Padawan and their disconnection from familial bonds. But in that conversation, he told me my parents had passed.”
Anakin nurtured a commiserate expression.
“I’m sorry.” He said in a soft voice.
It was then that you noticed how your story stirred The Chosen One— like dark storm clouds behind his eyes. A saga of sensitivities swirled behind his pupils.
You appreciated his empathy, and conveyed a grateful glance, watching as he nodded with postured stoicism while leaning back once more, arms crossed. Underneath all that brazenness, there seemed to be a very caring individual, you thought to yourself. And he didn’t hide it well.
Dragging yourself from the interaction, you once more delved into your past. You watched the three Jedi as the most likely theory formed.
“If he knew that…that my parents were dead, I assume he must of discovered me around then.” You shrugged at your pervasive cluelessness on the subject. “Or, maybe it was blind luck many years later, much like our first meeting. Who knows? My memories of that time are cloudy.”
“In my experience, there is no such thing as luck.” Obi-Wan expressed, smiling at you with a wise impression.
The corner of your eyes crinkled at his kismet reference as the four of you breathed into the weary silence. These hours of conversation had clearly drained the room of all its energy. It felt as if the previous night’s sleep had been stretched out of you by the very words unleashed into the air.
You were sure the revelation of your destiny and connection to Qui-Gon acted as a fountainhead to the mental fatigue that soaked through the shelter’s inhabitants. Your account was evidently transformative to these Jedi. It presumably forced them to question lifelong-held beliefs about your former Master and The Chosen One prophecy. Qui-Gon was always very clear with you about his efforts to keep you a secret from the Galaxy. You guessed that also meant from Anakin himself.
Maybe that’s why you felt incongruity bubble up within you. It was a strange experience, explaining your purpose in another being’s life without them having any previous knowledge of your existence. And despite the coherence of The Guardian’s destiny, you suddenly felt misplaced. Especially when you observed The Chosen One’s reactions.
Anakin’s furrowed eyebrows and slightly parted lips clarified his stupefaction. Yet just below the surface, you sensed the slightest sliver of tension escape his force. A sort of uncertainty that leaked from his figure.
His sudden arrival was unexpected, mostly because you thought the first contact would be more grand, precise, and deliberate. You believed all your life that one day Qui-Gon would arrive to tell you it was time, only to load you onto a starship with the Jedi Temple as its heading. There, a formal introduction would take place of great fanfare with all of the Jedi masters in attendance. A symbol of The Order’s strength of unity against the Sith in their centuries-long conflict.
But instead, here you were, by the Force’s will, sitting in front of The Chosen One who had just happened to crash land on the very planet you took refuge on. And while you were confident in each word that escaped your breath, your disorientation was still amplified by the shard of doubt that split from him. Qui-Gon wasn’t here to help you tell your story like you always dreamed he’d be. So it was up to you alone to advocate for your place in the Galaxy.
You knew Anakin’s hesitancy stemmed from the sudden discovery of your existence and, mostly, The Guardian’s unexpected tie to him. As you ruminated further, you noticed that it was much like your sudden imposter syndrome. Both of you clearly lacked the tools to approach a discussion of this magnitude.
And it was a strange comfort, knowing that you both felt equally disquiet about this meeting. Maybe the two of you were far more intertwined than you first truly realized.
To your side, Ahsoka’s bright smile was difficult to ignore from her place crossed on the floor. It emanated delight as her eyes ricocheted between you and Anakin, her tilted cheek resting on a fist. You found her to be the most accepting of your connection to Anakin’s path.
In conversation with the three of them, you discovered her to be Anakin’s new Padawan. It clicked that she likely saw you as some positive cosmic influence on the Master she held in high esteem. You were equally grateful for her connection to Anakin. Ahsoka herself seemed like a wonderful young Jedi. You admired her outspoken nature and youthful buoyancy, reminding you of yourself as a young trainee.
It was also reassuring to know that there was another person close to Anakin that you could learn from. After all, to best support and protect The Chosen One, you needed to know him well. Qui-Gon taught you that. And that meant understanding not only him, but his close associates as well.
That too included Obi-Wan, who seemed relaxed, almost grateful, since he fully accepted the truth. His shoulders were loose and eyes hopeful throughout the second rendition of your story. After giving up his seat, the older Jedi stood comfortably by Anakin, silently supporting him from behind. It made sense since you learned he was Anakin’s former Master.
Your inferences were based solely on his outward expressions, failing to register anything he released into the Force. Clearly, once the bearded Jedi recognized your force sensitivity, he found it best to firmly conceal his emotional connection to his signature, much like his other companions. If you had paid more attention to your first meeting with the Jedi, you may have realized his ability to manage this connection to the Force. His heightened control when in the presence of other Jedi would’ve dwarfed the loosened attentiveness he held around non-sensitive beings, as when he shared your company alone in the shelter.
You remember one of your first trainings with Qui-Gon was on this very topic. However, he did not only teach you how to protect your mind. Qui-Gon spent many sessions gifting you the longest and most in-depth lesson you experienced— Force Stealth.
He was always sure to remind you that for many years, it would be your most vital skill. Your former Master chided you on the need to be highly maneuverable in this field of force study to stay alive. Completely hiding your force signature was the only sure way to prevent your discovery by either side, especially the Sith. These Jedi only protected their thoughts, you mused inwardly. But once you realized this, Anakin’s readable distress became particularly perplexing.
Your mind was still saturated with anachronism to think too deeply about these matters.
Yet, you still lacked despondency, despite learning of your late Master’s passing. It had been nearly a decade since you last saw him. Maybe that’s why in the last few years, you occasionally surmised deep down at the base of your subconscious that he’d passed, leaving you stranded on Hoth alone.
But it still felt impossible to believe. Maybe that’s why you were holding it together. Or maybe some part of your heart had accepted Obi-Wan’s words, but it just hadn’t sunk in yet. Or maybe these swirling battles within you were too distracted by the initiation of your prophetic path to land that last punch of unavoidable, bitter truth.
“Well…” Anakin began.
You jolted from your thoughts.
As you registered his questioning intonation, you inwardly moaned, mentally preparing yourself for the next set of inquiries you thought ended a while ago.
He sighed. “There isn’t that much room, but I’m sure we can find space for a fourth in the shuttle’s cabin.” Anakin grinned.
A feeling of delight bubbled in your stomach. In all this time of discussion and deep contemplation, you hadn’t had the chance to really ponder the life-changing ramifications of this meeting. That included leaving Hoth, possibly forever, for the first time in a very long time. It meant meeting new people, a new planet, with a big new city that you’d only heard about through Qui-Gon’s tales. For someone who grew up in isolation for their entire existence, this revelation was overwhelmingly exciting, and somehow nerve-wracking.
“I sure hope so. Last time I checked, there were four seats installed, unless you destroyed one during your repairs.” Obi-Wan jested.
Anakin rolled his eyes. “You know what I mean.”
If the four of you were to leave this planet soon, the state of those repairs would be a determining factor, you thought.
“So I take it the shuttle is fixed?” You inquired.
Anakin shrugged. “Eh, mostly.”
He seemed to notice the apprehension grow on your features as he quickly explained.
“I mean.” Anakin stuttered. “The engines are fixed and the shuttle can take off. But there are a few holes that lead to some important places. So they need to be plugged.”
Obi-Wan folded his arms, seemingly unimpressed with Anakin’s understatement. “I assume you’re referring to the holes in the main hull.”
Anakin sighed despondently. “Yeah.”
This complication certainly posed a roadblock to escape, but it only took a moment for you to realize that the solution was directly in front of you. Or more, all around you.
“Well.” You chewed over your thoughts as you phrased them. “If I won’t be here for much longer, I’m not gonna have much use for this shelter. Could we salvage its parts to seal any cavities?”
Anakin perked up at your suggestion, glancing around at the hull. “I…think that may work.”
“Great!” You clapped your hands, hope radiating throughout your body.
“Let’s get started.”
It only took about an hour to determine the shelter’s best specimens, extract them, and then prepare them for transport for the final phase of repairs. Anakin and Ahsoka were quick to load the materials into makeshift bindles constructed from your blanket collection.
You recall commenting on his pace: his evaluation of the manual, the previous restorations, the speed at which he tore out the necessary fragments from the shelter— it was all done in great haste. And his defense of this unwavering initiative was most amusing.
“I hate the snow. It’s like sand, but it gets you all wet.”
Fair enough, you thought.
That was many hours ago. Anakin and Ahsoka had long ago left for the shuttle to complete the repairs, and you and Obi-Wan were now just on the way to join them. You readjusted your grip on the lichen bag once again slung across a shoulder, this time filled with a few possessions rather than a slimy lunch.
As you moved through the new layer of snow that accumulated overnight, you thought back to how difficult it was to ignore the cold chills that scurried down your bare arms in the shelter when you were collecting your things. The exposed snow, apparent due to the missing paneling, destroyed the warming effect of the old ship’s hull.
You never referred to the old ship as your home, knowing that eventually, you would leave that place to start your journey. But that wasn’t your only reasoning. It wasn’t your home because it was a refuge, a place for asylum, for development, to prepare you for The Chosen One’s arrival, without risk of being destroyed by the Sith— at least not before you were ready to face them.
In all honesty, you were still unsure if your training would satisfy the needs of the path ahead. However, the Force seemed to believe you were prepared to begin this quest, so you had to trust in that.
You refocused your memories, thinking back to when you were collecting a few of your favorite holobooks discussing The Old Republic Jedi and the Jedi-Sith War, which you laid out on your desk as you packed. Qui-Gon’s first gift, a navy blue-based blanket with gold shimmers, was neatly folded beside them. As you clipped your lightsaber to your belt and shrugged on your warm Wampa cloak, you allowed your gaze to wander throughout the shelter until it was stopped by a glint from a thin slit in the curtain.
You stared carefully at the item that caught your eye. It hung from the back wall and clearly made its desire to accompany you well known. A breathy laugh escaped you as you shook your head. You ruminated while walking up to take the half-circle metal headpiece. How could you ever forget what you lovingly referred to as your Second Master.
“Is that The Muntuur?” You turned to the voice and were met with Obi-Wan’s expectant demeanor.
“Yes.” You strolled to your desk, Obi-Wan following close behind.
“If the Force believes that it’s prepared me enough to begin my voyage, then it shouldn’t hurt to bring it along. To keep me fresh.”
Picking up the lichen bag, you began to fill it with the laid-out belongings. It was hard to miss the intrigue dripping from the man behind you as you wrapped The Muntuur in the blue blanket. You placed it in the lichen bag, which you sealed shut with the drawstrings.
“Don’t worry.” You reassured. “Although there isn’t time to experiment if we have any hope of reaching the ship before sunset, I promise we’ll find time for the device once we arrive.”
Obi-Wan’s expression brightened at your offer. “I appreciate that.”
Then, a thought crossed your mind. “We are going to The Temple, right?”
He nodded. “Yes, straight to Coruscant.”
When you later left the shelter for the last time, you were faced with your most difficult goodbye.
Meetra was grooming her arm with wet laps when the two of you emerged from the hatch. As you let it fall closed with a thud behind you, the friendly Tauntaun raised her head in curiosity, sniffing the air for any aroma of danger.
You approached Meetra, placing each hand on her neck once more to feel her warm, thick fur.
“This is bye, for now, Meetra.” You cooed, moving your hands to pull her head down, placing a light kiss on her right tusk. “I’m gonna miss you more than you know.”
And with one last pat on her chest, you turned to make your way to the shuttle. Out of the corner of your vision, you noticed an indiscernible emotion resting on Obi-Wan’s face as his eyes peaked at you subtly.
You glanced at his following figure. He quickly acknowledged you with a copy of your bright expression. You observed his fine guise through a pregnant pause before swiveling back toward the path ahead, brushing off the interaction as the two of you continued the expedition.
Now, you both were hours into your trek, trudging through snow troughs and avoiding ice patches as the freezing wind whipped your hair, occasionally blocking your vision.
Obi-Wan seemed to be fairing just as well, a hand blocking his face so that he could see through the falling flakes. It sounded as if the Maker himself was trying to whistle for the first time from the skies.
“Why did you leave the Tauntaun behind?” Obi-Wan projected over the heavy gusts that began to pick up.
“She wouldn’t have found her way home without me.” You called out. “We‘ll be fine on our own.”
Another powerful blast of glacial wind threatened to knock you and Obi-Wan over. You both stood your ground before attempting to continue the trek during a rest in the gusts’ pull seconds later.
“We will see.” He wondered aloud.
Your gaze dropped as you tried to focus on one step at a time. While you’ve experienced the rough Hoth weather plenty of times in the past, you haven’t had to travel through it without Meetra’s help. You knew this planet well, and Obi-Wan was right. If the budding storm worsened, it could not only threaten any non-planetary beings on the surface, but also prevent the shuttle from taking off— at least not without the engine’s stalling.
Glancing up, you were now able to see the ship in the near distance, blurred by the thickening snowfall.
“Hey!” You called out, grabbing Obi-Wan’s attention with a wave. “Only a few more minutes.” You loudly assuaged, pointing at the now upright shuttle in front of you.
He nodded.
You had only taken a few more steps when a high-pitched mechanical squeal permeated the atmosphere. You contorted at the painful drone, covering your ears. Obi-Wan was similarly hunched over, trying to block out the sound. Then, as quickly as it appeared, the uncomfortable tone left.
You turned to Obi-Wan as you regained your posture. “What was that?!”
“I don’t know!” He stepped forward. “We need to get to the ship!”
You nodded as the two of you picked up the pace, much like the volume and intensity of the storm. As you neared the shuttle, Anakin and Ashoka’s figures became clearer in the growing whiteout engulfing the region. Anakin was loosely hanging from the side of the viewport by one hand, his feet swaying, as he finished sealing the hole in the transparent steel with one of your shelter’s panels and a lightsaber. Ahsoka was yelling something unintelligible from below before Anakin readjusted and jumped down to join her, continuing their conversation.
Soon, a kaleidoscope of warm tones caught the corner of your eye, turning your head toward the first sign of the coming dusk. This was beginning to be very bad, you thought to yourself. You started to forcefully jog through the trapping pressure of the snow, Obi-Wan matching your speed.
And in a few moments, their words became clearer.
“…need to get out of here!” You caught the last part of Ahsoka’s sentence as you and Obi-Wan caught up to them. The strong frigid gusts became sonorous, lasting for minutes at a time. Even with the aid of the Force, you were having difficulty keeping your feet planted.
Finally, you found your footing. “What on Hoth happened?!”
Anakin’s head spun toward you. “Who says that?!”
“They do!” Obi-Wan rebuffed. “Now what happened?!”
“I think I triggered some old security system while repairing the last hole in the viewport!” Anakin explained. “It doesn’t matter!”
Darkness started to creep across Hoth’s miles-long white blanket at an almost imperceptible rate, but fast enough to begin sinking this side of the planet’s temperature down to dangerously low levels.
Suddenly, you felt a shift in the land nearby. You took a moment, closing your eyes and breathing deeply to reach out to the impression.
“We need to leave now!” Ahsoka yelled. “If the storm gets any worse we’ll be stuck!”
The energies were large. Towering but swift. A violent rage and cavernous hunger penetrated your senses.
“It may matter.” You whispered to yourself.
You opened your eyes, glancing at Obi-Wan who mirrored your actions.
“Do you sense it?” You asked lowly, but loud enough to be heard over the howling storm.
Obi-Wan faced forward, closing his eyes. It looked as if his nose was being pulled into the distance as he dug into the Force, brows creased and lips pursed.
His eyes shot open at the three of you. “We need to leave, now!” Obi-Wan started to jog toward the shuttle’s entrance on the opposite side, you, Anakin, and Ahsoka hard on his heels.
The dimming light began obscuring your vision.
“What is it?!” Ahsoka questioned.
“A pack of Wampas!” You answered from behind. “Obi-Wan, they won’t let the shuttle take off! We’ll need to deal with them if we have any hope of leaving this planet!”
“It’s too dangerous!” Obi-Wan argued as he lept at the shuttle’s entrance stationed about three feet off the ground.
Landing, he rested a hand on the handle before turning to face the three of you. “Fighting anything in this weather will get us killed. Let alone the number of beings I sense.”
“Doing nothing will get us killed!” You maintained. “In the time it takes for us to prepare for takeoff, they’ll rip the hull to shreds!”
You took a moment to briefly reconnect with the life forms around you, registering how dangerously close the Wampas now were. Suddenly, what sounded like a gurgled scream combined with a deep-bellied roar echoed from a hundred feet away.
Anakin spun in the direction of the cry, grabbing the hilt of his lightsaber.
“Snips, start the engines!” He stared into nothingness beyond the blinding storm, now plunged in darkness. “Yell when we can lift off!”
Igniting his saber, he took a few cautious steps forward, its blue glow reflecting off the snowflakes falling around. You copied his actions, activating your weapon, the gray of your saber blending more with the environment. You listened as Obi-Wan jumped down from the shuttle’s door, landing behind you and Anakin as Ahsoka leapt to the access point and let herself into the ship. The hiss of his saber sounded, it adding to the blue luminescence by casting a subtle shadow of part of your form.
The three of you stood wordlessly while the bellowing wind buffeted each of your cloaks and wheezed past your ears. It was impossible to hear distant footsteps beyond the unrelenting noise, so you focused on your senses and any images gleaned from the sabers’ radiance as the icy chills began to stiffen your muscles.
Out of the oblivion emerged a barely perceptible, large white mass running directly toward you at full speed. In a second, its right claw was poised for attack, a roar of a thousand voices emanating from the bloodthirsty Wampa.
You reacted quickly, vaulting over the beast and slicing off its attacking arm with the shadow of your saber, its wails echoing into the distance. You shifted into a flip mid-air, facing the creature’s wide back in time to lift your saber above your head and stab it, dragging the blade down as you descended. Once you landed comfortably on your feet, you watched the Wampa slump to its knees, letting out one last pathetic wail as its body collapsed into the snow, emptying the air of a little noise.
As if answering the cry, the sound of the shuttle coming online reverberated across the frosty plains.
Anakin relaxed his spine upwards from his attack stance. “That was easier than…”
A clamor of Wampan growls and wails erupted from behind as you whirled around to face them. The sheer number of sprinting giants made their footfalls thunderously loud above the tumultuous drones of the snowstorm. Anakin swiftly crouched back down into an offensive posture while you tightened your stance.
“You always have to speak too soon!” Obi-Wan commented boldly as you watched him raise his saber.
Before you knew it, seven Wampas emerged from the dark snowfall only feet away and headed straight for you.
“Uh, a little help!” You called out.
Anakin and Obi-Wan charged each flank of the pack, taking two each to distract while you dealt with three of the massive snow brutes. Their bodies built for blizzards moved agilely as you struggled against the heavy winds and trapping snow drifts. You were avoiding their blows by mere inches, making it impossible to launch an offensive.
“They seem to like you!” Obi-Wan quipped. He incapacitated one of his attackers with a blade through the side. Its dying cry only seemed to intensify the others’ aggression.
“I don’t think they’re happy that I skinned one of their brethren!” You retorted, referring to the Wampa cloak draped around your shoulders.
Finally, you found an opening to cut off the legs of the leftmost beast, causing it to crumple to an icy grave in a pained howl.
“I believe their anger is more related to a certain piercing alarm.” Obi-Wan sassed while dodging a particularly nasty attempt to bludgeon his head.
Anakin seemed to be faring equally well, having successfully cut off the head of one Wampa and aiming to finish off the other.
“I get it!” He yelled over the battle. “Blame The Chosen One!” You could hear the smirk on his face.
You rolled your eyes, barely missing a swipe at your neck from the deed. You took the opportunity to lob off both of the attacker’s paws, paving the way to kick him with a grunt to the disturbed sleet beneath you.
“Are you sure he’s The Chosen One?!” You called out to Obi-Wan, a wicked glint in your eye. “I thought they’d be more humble!”
“Anakin and humility have never been well acquainted.” Obi-Wan jested. He slashed at his last Wampa’s chest, cutting it down.
Anakin eyed the two of you. “Because I don’t need it!”
He turned.
“Agh!”
And in the momentary distraction, the younger Jedi received a claw to the cheek.
“Obi-Wan!” You sang with a grin. “The Chosen One needs your assistance.”
“Already on it!” He acknowledged. The older Jedi jogged toward the grumbling Anakin behind you.
Finally, another window of attack opened, enabling you to separate the torso from the legs of the last beast standing before you with a quick swipe of your blade.
As you caught your breath, you turned in time to see Anakin and Obi-Wan cut down the final Wampa with two sabers through the stomach, its culminating bellow signaling the end of the battle. The two relaxed, shutting off their lightsabers and attaching them to each belt.
You ambled toward the duo after clipping your own now-deactivated saber. You tried to dust off the accumulating snow on your arms, but most of it had iced over in the dropping temperatures of a Hoth night.
Trying to ignore the numbness of your nerves from the subfreezing temperatures, you looked up, locking your gaze with them as a feeling of levity embraced you.
“I’m The Chosen One!” You mocked in a high-pitched voice, throwing your hands up and scrunching your cheeks. “I could’ve taken the whole pack with my eyes closed!”
“Yes, I believe that’s quite an accurate impression.” Obi-Wan teased with an eyebrow quirked, turning to his former Padawan with a hand gesturing to his point.
Anakin crossed his arms. “You know.” He began nonchalantly. “I could definitely take on a pack with my eyes closed.”
You rested each hand on your hips, leaning into one side with a significant lack of inspiration on your face. As the adrenaline wore off, an unpleasant ache began to pull at your sinuses.
“Let’s go!” The three of you turned your head to Ahsoka who stood in the shuttle doorway, waving you over. “This storm is seconds away from keeping us grounded!”
“About time.” Anakin huffed as he led the way back to the ship, you and Obi-Wan close behind.
You were not a mere two steps into your stride when a weakened growl vocalized behind you. You all turned as the Wampa you kicked rolled onto its knees and began to crawl upwards in all its armless glory.
“Get in!” You advised, grabbing and reactivating your saber. “I’ll take care of it!”
Anakin leapt up to the entrance, landing in the doorway gracefully before turning to you. “Come on!” He argued nonchalantly. “What’s it gonna do?!”
“An armless Wampa can still do a lot of damage!” You challenged. “Trust me, I’ve learned the hard way!”
Whirling around to begin your trot back to the stumbling blob of fur, you called out once more.
“You three focus on getting us out of here!”
You listened as Obi-Wan jumped up to join Anakin on the shuttle, followed by distant conversation. Your saber was readied mere feet away from the creature when the older Jedi called out to you.
“Anakin says we need to lift off now!”
You groaned. “Then take off!”
Swiftly, you plunged your fiery blade into the heart of the beast, killing him instantly.
As the adamant Wampa fell for the final time, you felt the snow pick up around you, a sonorous whirring rumbling from behind. You pivoted just in time to see the shuttle at least five meters above the ground and climbing fast. You charged toward the vessel, its entryway still open with Obi-Wan standing to the side as he peeked out at you, holding the frame for support.
Your feet grew heavier as the water that had leaked into your boots began to freeze. It felt as if the biting cold had calcified your limbs. You couldn’t tell if your vision was blurring due to the thickening blizzard, your persisting headache, or your dropping body temperature.
“Come on!” You looked up at Obi-Wan who had knelt by the door, the shuttle now 15 meters above you.
You continued your labored dash.
“You must jump.” He reached out a hand as you stopped some meters away from the liftoff point.
You closed your eyes and breathed deeply as you concentrated on the Force, hoping to melt away the stiffness in your movements and bring back some feeling in your extremities. You had certainly jumped long distances before when training with Qui-Gon, but this would be pushing it.
After shaking out each limb, you glanced up to see that the shuttle had climbed another 5 meters.
Great.
“Jump!” Obi-Wan yelled, reaching his hand out further.
“I know!” You yelled, slightly annoyed.
“I’ll catch you!” He assured.
You huffed, centering yourself in a wide stance. Then, bending your knees and reaching out to the energy around you, you jumped.
Freezing wind blasted your face to the point of losing all feeling. The air pushed back on your body, especially weighing you down by your fur cloak.
Still, the Force kept your trajectory. Some snow flew in your face, but the real culprit was the wind whipping your hair directly into both eyes.
You may have connected to the Power of the Cosmos a little too deeply, because you overshot. Instead of neatly landing in the entryway like Anakin, you collided with Obi-Wan, straddling him on impact as he flew back. He took the brunt of the fall, cushioning your landing with his strong, shielding form. A loud thud echoed throughout the cabin you both met the shuttle floor.
You shook your head, reorienting jumbled senses as your eyes connected with his. Obi-Wan’s flooded with relief, sighing at your somewhat safe landing. It looked almost as if his furrowed brows were scanning your face for any sign of discomfort.
You assume he did not find any concerning indications as his expression quickly morphed into a desperate attempt to manage the pain from that rough drop.
“I caught you.” Obi-Wan exhaled, his warm breath tickling your nose.
You couldn’t help the breathy laugh that escaped you, followed by a pained groan when you rolled off him and onto the cold, shaking, shuttle floor.
You kneaded the side of your ribs. It throbbed from a rough meeting with the hilt of Obi-Wan’s lightsaber. The bearded Jedi emanated a similar vocalization as he sat up, massaging between his shoulder and neck where you’re pretty sure your leading hand slammed into him.
Ahsoka shot up, stumbling over to the ship’s door before pulling it closed and sealing it tightly with a twist of the handle.
She spun toward you. “Nice jump!”
“Not so nice for me,” Obi-Wan interjected.
You sent him a sheepish look. “Sorry.”
“Welcome aboard!” Anakin saluted from the pilot's seat.
You noticed the shallow cut on his cheek had frozen over while Ahsoka returned to her backseat.
“Now, get ready.” He directed. “This is gonna be fun.”
“If I wasn’t seeing stars.” Obi-Wan began. “I would have something to say to that.”
The two of you rose from the floor, having trouble keeping your stance as the shuttle continued to tremble. Obi-Wan stumbled to the co-pilot's seat while you joined Ahsoka, unceremoniously landing in the chair neighboring hers.
The hum of the draft against the hull intensified as you watched the storm worsen, with thicker snowfall and the inklings of hail bouncing off the viewport.
“Hold on!” Anakin exclaimed.
You found it wise to follow that advice.
He pulled down the throttle, pinning the four of you against your seats as the ship shot up. The shuttle creaked and groaned while the outside pressure appreciated. You grew dizzy from the intensifying quakes.
“How old is this ship, again?” You inquired.
“Don’t ask,” Anakin warned.
The vessel broke through a layer of clouds. You wouldn’t have realized had the other side not lightened the darkness you were previously doused in.
The engines began to whine, slowly modulating upwards. The beat of your heart intensified. It would be a miracle if this ship didn’t stall.
“Almost there…” Anakin gnashed.
“My brain‘s gonna turn into jelly,” Ahsoka commented with a woozy tone.
Your grip on the armrests tightened. “Tell me about it.”
You stared at the viewport, watching as the ship tumbled through flying snow and dangerous ice, surrounded by the blacks and grays of the sky. Then, in a mere second, you broke through some thin gloomy barrier, and were met with thousands of bright stars on an endless black canvas.
The shuttle instantly calmed, sailing smoothly and deeper into space. The four of you settled into an eery serenity as you stared out the viewport in awe, having long forgotten what space looked like from inside a starship.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?”
You glanced at Obi-Wan who’d twisted in his seat to face you, an endearing smile gently resting on his countenance. He seemed to have noticed your child-like wonderment. But who could blame you? It was an extraordinary sight, and not something you’d seen very often.
The last time you left Hoth, you were bound for Ilum for The Gathering. But that was many years ago, and you hardly remember it being this bewitching.
Then again, there was a big difference between collecting your Kyber crystal and facing the destiny you’ve prepared your whole life for. That anticipatory element could’ve added to your excitement.
This time, you weren’t going on a short trip. You were leaving for a while. For forever. Disappearing without a trace. Being called by forces unknown who freed you to face a destiny set in stone from the beginning.
And maybe Qui-Gon was out there, somewhere. In the Galaxy or the Force, watching with a smile, as you received his message from a million miles away in the form of three lost Jedi.
Either way, your journey had just begun, and basking in the light of the galaxy felt like a good place to start.
“Yes.” You sighed contently. “It is.”

Do you think Yoda saw all of his past students in Luke?
He saw that rage and unquenchable desire for a system corrupted to be changed, just like Dooku? He saw that peace and patience and desire to learn that Qui-Gon had? The same sass and empathy that Obi-Wan held? The same desire to live up to the people who came before him, just like Ahsoka?
And, of course, he saw Anakin there. In blue eyes and lopsided grin. In the affectionate touch to a droid. In the raw power, the untapped potential that could sway to the light or the dark so easily.
Do you think he saw the best and worst of them all? Do you think he looked at Luke and remembered training Dooku? Do you think he saw Luke heading in the direction of a maverick and missed Qui-Gon? Do you think he watched Luke grow and learn and all he could think about was that pure, uncorrupted kid from Tatooine? The kid who wanted to free slaves, the kid who fell in love hard and fast, the kid whose trust was hardwon, the kid who grew up into the antithesis of everything he once was?
Do you ever wonder what was going through Yoda’s mind on long nights? When Luke would get impatient and storm off, only to return a few moments later, calm and ready to try again. Do you think he held onto that fear, the fear that stuck with him for so long, that yet another member of his lineage would die before their time or turn to the Dark Side or just leave entirely?
Do you ever think of Yoda trying to hide things from Luke, only to get tired of it? He told Luke about his sister. The one secret that would have died with him. Artoo can’t tell anybody. Everyone else who knows - Padme, Bail, Obi-Wan - is dead. They could have just left him in the dark. They could have taken that secret and not let it potentially sway Luke’s emotions one way or the other.
That was the plan, wasn’t it? Obi-Wan is surprised when he finds out that Yoda told Luke. The plan had to have been to not tell him, to never tell him, to never risk Luke forming an unhealthy attachment to his sister that would lead him down the path of the Dark Side. That would never start Leia on the path of becoming a Jedi, meaning she would never even be at risk.
But, Yoda was dying. He was dying and he had so long to think of all the things he should have done differently. He was dying and he looked up at Luke, who they were putting the weight of the world on. They were telling Luke that the future of the galaxy was entirely on his shoulders. The sale of absolutely everyone was on him and him alone. They told him he was the last Jedi.
So Yoda must have looked up and seen that pressure. That loneliness. The Jedi of old had large communities. They lived and breathed and grew with each other. They never felt alone, because they always had someone to turn to, someone to talk to, someone they trusted to keep their head above water.
And here they were, leaving Luke alone. Telling him to rebuild the Jedi Order. Telling him to kill his own father. Telling him to kill the Emperor, but not out of anger or hatred or guilt.
Yoda figured out that this would just make it all happen again. Dooku turned because he didn’t trust the Jedi Order and he felt alone. Anakin turned because he didn’t trust the Jedi Order and he felt alone. If Luke was sent to face off against two of the most powerful Force-users, both of whom are Sith, then he would only lose faith in Yoda and Obi-Wan, and he would feel all alone, and he would turn to the Dark Side.
I think Yoda told Luke about Leia out of a desire to give Luke that support system. The Jedi all had bonds with each other, with their teachers and students, but even without bonds, they were still functionally telepaths. They were empaths. They needed a strong support system to be there when the weight got too much to bear. When the darkness of the galaxy weighed on them, when the failures of the past haunted them, when they felt so lost and confused and empty, they had each other. And that’s what Yoda was giving Luke.
He was trying to say, “Even without your father, you won’t be alone. Even without me or Obi-Wan, you won’t be alone. You’ll always have another person, a person who can and has built you up and kept your head above water. A person who you’ve done the same for. You support each other, you’ve supported each other for years now, and you will always continue to support each other.”
Luke and Leia aren’t “attached” to each other. They’re each others’ safety net. They need each other, but not out of attachment. They need each other as everyone needs someone or something to remind them of all the good things in the world when things get rough. They remind each other that they need to fight, to live on. They remind each other that the galaxy is good at its core, filled with good people who just need some help.
They remind each other that they aren’t alone. They trust each other. They don’t need the power of the Dark Side.
And that’s why it’s so important to remember that Yoda told Luke there was another Skywalker. Yoda, who has been against attachment since the beginning, is the one who risks Luke getting attached. It’s important because this is a major character moment for Yoda!
He sees them. All of them. Dooku felt alone and left them behind to try and feel power to feel safe. Qui-Gon died alone, with only Obi-Wan there to help him, far away from the Jedi. Obi-Wan died alone. Anakin felt alone and abandoned and wanted power to feel safe. Ahsoka felt alone and abandoned and left the Order, because she no longer trusted them. They all lost it, that safety net, those people who were always around them to keep them above water, that support system that reminded them that they weren’t alone and they would never be abandoned and —
Don’t you think Yoda blames himself?
His own Padawan felt like he had no choice but to leave. Obi-Wan feared attachment out of fear of being cast aside, of being abandoned. Anakin fought that desire for attachment, that desire for someone to be there when he fell, and he when he finally got even a hint of it, he hid it out of fear of it being taken away and him being abandoned for having needed it in the first place.
Of course Yoda blames himself. He outlived all of them. He’s far older than them. And his own fear of his loss overpowering him, the fear that watching everyone he loves die over and over again beause of how much longer he’ll live than any of them, is what kept his Lineage from having those safety nets in place. Those support beams.
He looks at Luke and he sees that rage that Dooku had, that eagerness to learn that Qui-Gon had, that empathy that Obi-Wan had, that innocent desire to help that Ahsoka had—
And he sees that little boy from Tatooine. The one who grew up into a monster. The one who grew distorted and disfigured and who hated them all and tore them all down. That possibility lives within Luke to. The overwhelming weight of responsibility put on one person’s shoulders, the same weight that Palpatine used to manipulate Anakin into believing that none of the Jedi could ever help or understand him.
Yoda tells Luke about Leia. He isn’t specific, he doesn’t name a name, but he knows he doesn’t have to. He doesn’t want Luke to feel lost and abandoned and alone. He wants Luke to feel strong. He gives Luke that support beam. That attachment that could so quickly overwhelm him or become unhealthy. He gives Luke this because Luke trusts him, and he doesn’t want Luke to feel like he can’t trust him.
He doesn’t want any Jedi to feel alone. He doesn’t want to see them fall to the same things the Jedi in the past did.
But most importantly, Yoda cared for the Jedi. All of them, and especially his own students. He feels their loss, even lightyears away. He wouldn’t have felt the loss of life if he didn’t care for them, not from such a far distance. And he wouldn’t have been as affected by it if he didn’t care about them. He cared about the Jedi, about his students and his Lineage and even about the little runt that Qui-Gon brought back from Tatooine.
He cares about Luke. He has so much faith in Luke. He doesn’t want Luke to die like the others. He doesn’t want Luke to die alone and feeling abandoned.
Yoda gave Luke that attachment. Because he didn’t want Luke to drown under the weight of everything they were expecting of him.

I think I want to soak up every take you have on Anakin and Padme with a sponge because yes yes yes. Thoughts on Mustafar?
since this is a more general ask i will take this as an opportunity to chat about something i've been thinking about lately: the direct connection between the aftermath of the tusken raiders massacre and anakin's conviction on mustafar that padme didn't love him anymore.
it's fairly clear from anakin's behavior and language following his massacre of the tuskens that he's aware that what he's done is objectively wrong. he also seems aware of the disconnect from the objective morality of the act, and what he feels about the act. he feels justified in what he did- or, he's trying to convince himself that he is- but he's distressed because he knows that's not what a good person, should be.
(as an aside, a lot of people talk about anakin measuring himself in comparison to morality as determined by the jedi order. but i think in this moment, it's more likely that he's thinking about morality in terms of shmi. he's just killed men, women, and children, supposedly in his mother's name, and on some level he knows that she would never want or condone that.)
anyways, anakin is very unstable and conflicted here. but his response to feeling these emotions- likely influenced by the dangers of expressing such things in his childhood while enslaved- is to lean away from them. he doesn't want to think about, let alone process, the guilt of what he's done. the idea that he's disappointed his mother, that he's tarnished her memory, is too painful for him. he wants someone to give him an excuse not to handle these difficult truths.
this is why he doesn't go to the jedi. it's why he doesn't go to obi-wan. he knows they will tell him what he does not want to hear: that he did a very bad thing. and if they tell him that, then maybe he'll have to confront that his mother would be just as horrified as the jedi were.
and there can sometimes be a fine line between empathy and enabling, which is something padme really struggled with when it came to anakin in particular. (i could make an entire other post about why this is, but we're focusing on how anakin perceived their relationship here, because it'll explain how he perceived her actions within the context of their relationship on mustafar.) and what does padme do?
"to be angry is to be human," she says. providing the justification, the excuse. anakin is able to lean into her comfort, safe in the knowledge that he will not be forced to handle any of the painful truths he had so feared. this comes at the cost of his personal growth; it comes at the cost of his humanity. but in the moment, to him, it feels like salvation. the world was ending and padme made it stop.
i won't go into the clone wars here, because otherwise this post would be too long. but there are many moments within the series where this pattern repeats itself. anakin does something padme isn't comfortable with, or something she initially resists, but her displeasure never lasts and she always returns to him without requiring him to change his mind or understand why she disapproved in the first place. every time this happens, it reinforces and recreates their exchange on tattooine. padme is a safe space for anakin- not just from the world, but from himself. from his own conscience, and from his own guilt.
this brings us to mustafar. anakin has done a terrible thing, an awful thing, in the name of someone he loves. just as he did on tattooine. but while shmi died, and he could only get reprieve from his guilt about the tuskens indirectly (through padme, a surrogate mother figure), in this instance his justification for his crimes is still alive. anakin is hoping for padme to condone his actions, the way he'd hoped shmi would have condoned his treatment of the tuskens.
of course, it was an incredible oversight and misunderstanding of padme as a person on anakin's part to think that she would look past the destruction of her entire life's work. that's just objectively true. but it's also clear to see how anakin's expectations of this unconditional support had only ever been reinforced over the course of their relationship- never challenged.
anakin came to rely on padme for unconditional support, to soothe his guilt and his suspicions that he'd done something terrible. and the moment she finally refused to do that for him, he turned on her.
because in his mind, her love had always been defined by unconditionally supporting him, and if she'd stopped doing that, then to him it meant that she no longer loved him. it's why he was confused- why aren't you doing what you've always done before and helping me ignore my guilt- and it's why he perceived it as a personal betrayal.

wip wednesday
because it's still wednesday somewhere :)
---
Korkie sleeps for two days straight as his body begins the slow process of healing, and his friend Amis hardly leaves his side.
Obi-Wan isn’t there when his son finally regains consciousness; no matter how much he wants to stay with his family, his leave is over and he has to return to the war, though he has a nagging suspicion that his temporary reassignment to the strategy room in the temple has something to do with Anakin and Junda. He doesn’t argue with the orders, just asks that Anakin not drive Cody to the brink of madness (a tall order, of course, for Anakin, but his brother gives him his solemn and sincere word).
Because he’s so tired.
Tired of war, tired of fighting.
Tired of being something that Satine hates — a warrior, a fighter. She never says it to him, but he knows that the feeling is there, a lingering resentment toward the Jedi High Council for turning her lover into the very thing that the Jedi aren’t supposed to be.
He’s in the strategy room with Plo when Satine’s message comes through on his communicator.
:_ Korkie’s awake. He’s asking for you. _:
He doesn’t realise he hasn’t moved for several prolonged moments until Plo looks up at him and asks, “Are you alright, Obi-Wan?”
Is he alright? He doesn’t know. For the last two nights he’s slept at the temple, not wishing to inflict the reality of his night terrors on Satine — waking up screaming, drenched in sweat, the glow of a red lightsaber lingering behind his eyelids every time he blinks. He has to reassure himself that his eyes are still blue, not a sickly yellow ringed with red. With a pronounced swallow, he says hoarsely, “I need to go.”
Plo rounds the strategy room’s main display table, leans against it next to Obi-Wan. He folds his hands together in front of himself. “You’re not alright, are you, my friend?” he says softly.
Obi-Wan just leans on the table, hangs his head. His hair droops forward in front of his eyes. His jaw trembles as he makes a conscious effort to tense his muscles and mitigate the full-body tremors that threaten to overtake him. “I…” he starts, then pauses, shaking his head. “No. No, I’m not.” With a harsh, hollow chuckle, he glances up at Plo next to him and admits, “This is the furthest I’ve been from alright since Qui-Gon died.” His shoulders curl forward as he bites back a ragged sob.
Plo doesn’t say anything for a moment, instead grabbing two chairs and bringing them around the table. With a gentle push, he gets Obi-Wan to sit on one and takes his place on the other. “Is it about your son?” he asks, and when Obi-Wan nods he follows with, “Do you want to talk about it?”
Obi-Wan sighs, burying his face in his hands, leaning with his elbows on his knees. “I could have killed him,” he whispers. He glances up at Plo from between his fingers. “The assassin. I could have killed him, and I wouldn’t have cared.”
Plo stills. “Are you saying you felt tempted by the dark side of the Force?” he asks, a hint of disbelief in his voice.
He nods, ashamed. “I’ve been having nightmares the last two nights,” he admits. “I wake up screaming, sick to my stomach…”
“Yes, I noticed you haven’t been eating,” Plo says softly.
Obi-Wan shakes his head. “Not as much as I’d usually eat in a day, no. It’s… food has no taste or texture right now. The last time I felt like this was after—” He swallows nervously, the scars on his back from the Zygerrian slaver’s laser whips beginning to itch. “—after Kadavo.” With another sigh, he says, “It’s terrifying. Being a father, it’s the most terrifying thing I’ve ever experienced. I don’t know what I’m doing…”
Plo’s hand comes down on his shoulder. “You’re doing your best, Obi-Wan,” he says. “I’m sure you’re aware that parenthood doesn’t come with a manual.”
He lets out a bark of humourless laughter. “If only it did.”
“And yet,” Plo continues, though Obi-Wan can hear his smile in his voice, “it’s my firm belief that Kohav couldn’t have a better and more dedicated father to look up to.” He glances at the display table, with the multitude of holograms constantly changing as new information comes in. “Go. Be with your son. I can handle things here for the time being.”
Obi-Wan looks up at Plo. “Are you sure?” he asks, sceptical.
Plo nods. “Yes. If anyone asks where you are, I’ll tell them I sent you to go and have lunch before you passed out.”
Twenty minutes later, he’s striding down the corridor in the hospital, back towards Korkie’s room, his dark brown outer robe swirling around his feet. He had memorised the path the first time, though he hasn’t been back since then, too afraid of having to answer uncomfortable questions. (It strikes him as hypocritical that he had refused to allow Anakin to spurn his relationships in the wake of Ahsoka’s leaving, and yet here he is now, doing the exact same thing after the attempt on his son’s life.) Satine had kept him up to date on their son’s condition while he worked through his anguish, and though she never says it, he knows she wishes he would — could — be there with them. He wishes the same; he would love nothing more than to have the ability to be by his son’s side as he recovers.
But he’s a Jedi, and a general in war, and unfortunately that means his job comes first.
When he walks in through the door to Korkie’s room, the first thing he sees is Amis asleep in the chair next to the bed, his head resting on the mattress and Korkie gently stroking the buzzed blonde hair on his head. Satine is sitting on the sofa opposite Korkie’s bed and reading a book, her glasses perched on her nose once again.
Korkie glances up at him, his neck still swathed in bandages but his skin not nearly as pallid as it had been two days ago; his hair droops in front of his eyes, long and a touch greasy from not being washed. He smiles, but it doesn’t reach his eyes. “Hey, buir.” Satine looks up, then, peering over the top of her glasses.
Obi-Wan smiles, too. He makes his way around the bed to the chair on the other side, his footfalls quiet, and sits down. “Hey, yourself,” he says softly. “You’re looking better.”
Korkie rolls his eyes. “I thought mum was going to be the one giving the doctors a hard time—” Satine looks up sharply, her eyes narrowed in a glare. “—but Amis is nothing if not determined to make sure I get the best possible care.”
“He cares about you,” Obi-Wan notes aloud (quietly, so as not to wake the boy in question). “Everyone deserves someone in their life like that.” He glances over at Satine, and she smiles at him.
Korkie glances between them for a moment, and then clears his throat, looking directly at his mother. “Can… can we have a minute?” he asks quietly. He doesn’t meet Obi-Wan’s eyes when the Jedi returns his gaze to his son.
Satine nods, softly closing her book and standing from her seat on the sofa. “Of course.”
The young man in the bed gently shakes his friend’s shoulder. “Amis…” he whispers, a small smile playing at the corners of his mouth. “Wake up.”
Amis groans, still half-asleep as he mumbles around a mouthful of his own sleeve, “Don’t wanna… go to class today…” Obi-Wan and Satine both snort with barely-restrained laughter, and Amis looks up blearily, his eyes heavy with sleep. Korkie laughs, too, but then he winces, his hand coming up to the bandages at the side of his neck. Amis immediately straightens in his seat, now wide awake, concern written across his face. “Are you okay?” he asks, one of his hands hovering by Korkie’s shoulder. (Obi-Wan and Satine glance at each other, smiles on both their faces, as they’re witness to the feelings between the two young men.)
Korkie returns his hand to the back of Amis’s head. “I’m fine, just… it hurts to laugh,” he says softly, his fingers gently stroking the fine blonde buzzcut where it ends in the dip between the bottom of his head and the top of his neck. “I need to talk to my dad,” he continues. “Do you mind…?”
Amis shakes his head, a slightly exasperated expression crossing his face. “’Course not,” he replies, his hand finally making contact with Korkie’s shoulder and gently rubbing it. It doesn’t escape the attention of either Obi-Wan or Satine how the touch lingers slightly before Amis removes his hand and leaves the room. Satine gives her lover and son a smile, though she can’t hide the concern glittering in her eyes, and follows Amis.
Once the door slides shut behind them, silence fills the room, suffocating, the only noise coming from the sound of the traffic passing outside the hospital. It feels strange; they’ve only known each other for just over a month, and yet Obi-Wan and Korkie have always had something to talk about. Now, however, they can hardly maintain eye-contact, both fidgeting awkwardly.
He opens his mouth to speak, but Korkie beats him to it. “Buir says this is the first time you’ve been by since… since it happened.” He looks up, and his son pins him in place with an accusatory glance.
He lets out a long, weary sigh, his face sinking down into his hands as he leans with his elbows on his knees. “I know,” he says softly, his voice muffled slightly by his hands. “I know, and I’m sorry.”
“Why?” Korkie sounds confused, though there’s still a hint of hurt lingering in his tone of voice. “How bad could your reaction have been that you saw fit to sequester yourself away at the temple for the past two days?” Obi-Wan looks up. Korkie returns his gaze, his eyebrows furrowed into a frown.
What can he say? After all, Korkie isn’t wrong. How can he even begin to explain his terror, the fury that had wrested control away from the rational Obi-Wan that had been in control since Qui-Gon’s death all those years ago?
He has to try.
“I almost killed him,” he says, and his voice sounds hollow to his ears. “The assassin. If Anakin hadn’t been there, I… I don’t think I would have been able to stop myself.”
Korkie frowns. “That’s why you’ve been keeping your distance?”
Obi-Wan nods. “That, and the new nightmares I’ve been having the last couple of nights.”
His son glances down at his lap for a second. “Yeah,” he says softly, “buir said you’ve been sleeping at the temple.” He pauses, and looks back up at his father. “Are they that bad?”
He nods, struggles to swallow around the lump that’s formed in his throat at the thought of his night terrors. “…yes.”
The silence returns, more dense than before, everything that’s been left unsaid hovering awkwardly in the space between them. Once more, the images that haunt his dreams flash before his eyes — the blade of a lightsaber, casting an ominous red glow over himself; his robes black and swirling around him, a cloak of darkness that’s even deeper than the darkness of the room he’s in, so even in pitch black he’s still visible, his eyes glowing yellow, cheeks hollowed, brow constantly furrowed.
He hopes that he’s not experiencing premonitions in his dreams.
The sizeable pause is broken when Obi-Wan sighs. “I think I might be starting to understand more why the Jedi Code forbids attachments,” he muses aloud.
Korkie looks at him warily. “Meaning?”
He pinches the bridge of his nose, his eyes closed tight and only opening when spots of light begin to dance behind his eyelids. “My life has changed so much in the last month,” he says as his eyes readjust to the light in the room once more. “I found out about you — my son, something I never thought I’d ever be able to have — and the moment you were hurt I was so angry that I wanted to kill the man responsible in cold blood.” He exhales, the breath shaky. “There’s only been two other occasions in my life where I felt like that: the first was when my master was killed by Maul on Naboo, and the second—”
“Was Mandalore,” Korkie finishes.
“Yes.”

House Of Memories (23/?)
Obi-Wan Kenobi x Padawan!reader
Warnings: oof, drinking, pining, angst, the beginning of literal depression idk
Summary: Yours and Anakin's mission goes haywire, and you choose to deal with it, among your other problems, but going to a bar accompanied by him and his darling wife, the senator.
A/n: this is so much longer than it needs to be but you guys i saw some awesome pictures my brother took when we went to the cantina in galaxy's edge the other day and my inspiration skyrocketed so fast- also i highly recommend getting a reservation there if you can the scenery alone is worth it
Words: 4k
Tumblr media
It had been weeks since the escapade with Satine, who you'd tried as hard as you could to push to the back of your mind. Really, you'd been trying to push her out of it, but with the murmurs of what happened with her and the Death Watch cult, she kept circulating in your thoughts from time to time.
You and Anakin had been assigned on a mission together while Ahsoka was sent to train cadets on Mandalore, and Obi-Wan was off world temporarily with Quinlan Vos. It was an easy mission, for the most part. Get in, steal information from the database, and get out. The problem with that was a man named Count Dooku, quite literally the person you despised most in the galaxy. He always acted like he was still compelled by the light side of the force, trying to regain relationships with people he once called friends. The reality of it was his need for endless power drove him to the darkness.
He had been waiting for you both upon arrival, taunting and tantalizing you both with his fancy speech, which had beat around the bush several times until he practically admitted he was prepared for your attack since the mission was set in motion. Needless to say, you failed, and both you and Anakin were taking it pretty hard. You lost a lot of clones that day, and had come home with half as many as you left with.
"It was my fault," he said, ducking his head into his hands. You scooted closer and rubbed his back in soothing circles.
"It's not. Neither of us could have possibly known that it would be a set up."
He shook his head, raising it slightly only to show you he'd been in a deep state of distress. You wrapped him up in a hug, letting his head fall on your shoulder as you kept affirming him.
He was a Jedi knight, now. A great general of the republic. He felt responsible because he had to. He hated when those feelings came over him, but every so often, something went wrong, and he couldn't help it.
"I will speak to the council when we return, if anyone gets reprimanded for this, I can take it. I've gotten sort of used to it by now," you chuckled a little, but it did little to lighten the mood. The ship was completely silent save for your conversation, and the steady whir of the engines.
"I am too, believe me. We'll go together, whatever they have to say can be said to both of us."
You silently agreed, resting a hand on his shoulder and keeping it steady for the remainder of the flight.
-
Well that went horrible. Absolutely horrible. Right off the bat, you mentioned that you had to crash a speeder to divert the attention of other clones getting away. Normally that would be considered a good thing, getting your men to safety and destroying enemy property while you were at it. The thing was, it was in the middle of a city, so no, it was not enemy property. You crashed a private mode of transportation. They revoked you of your piloting certification for the time being.
You were completely appalled by their decision and yelled about it to their faces. You regretted it instantly when you were done, but of course, with being a hot head, there were even more consequences. You were suspended from any and all missions until Obi-Wan returned. You stormed out of the room before they were finished and met Anakin in the hallway when he was done.
He didn't look so happy either; when he told you the reason why, you felt bad for him.
"You didn't need to stand up for me. It's clear they hate us both, and when we gang up on them, they despise us entirely," you threw your head back against the wall, the sting of the cold metal was distracting, for a few short seconds. You needed something to take your mind off this whole thing, and your usual solution was off world, probably not to return until tomorrow at the earliest. You doubted leaning on Obi-Wan's shoulder while he read in the library was going to help you with this much stress anyway.
You weren't sure where the urge came from, but you wanted to go out and get drunk, something Jedi were never supposed to do. You were to be alert and sober at all times, being the perfect symbol of a protector should anyone need you... but you'd been suspended temporarily, and Anakin was to take a short break from missions as well.
"Is Padme in the city?" you asked, wondering if maybe she could get you both into one of the more high-end clubs on this side of Coruscant.
"She is, but only until tomorrow. She has business to attend to back on Naboo. I'll probably be escorting her," he said, leaning against the same wall that you were, and you began to smirk with your eyes closed.
"Perfect."
"Oh no, what are you thinking?"
Oh no was a bit of a stretch, because once you'd explained to him your intentions, he was very keen to oblige you. It seemed impossible to not have fun when you had your favorite people with you, in an environment that was made for losing control and having the best time you can possibly have.
You'd never drunk anything really heavy before, although some of the older Padawans in the temple had taken you and Anakin out before to do some secret drinking, you weren't sure how much you could handle. You were almost positive that based on the strength and endurance of your right mind alone, you wouldn't be a light weight. You just hoped you'd be able to walk into your apartment again tonight without stumbling into someone. All you needed was to get drunk and crash into Mace Windu upon entering the place. You'd be expelled for sure... or at least until Obi-Wan got back, protesting until you were reinstated.
You hated hiding behind him all the time, because you wanted to prove to others that you were strong and capable enough to handle your own battles, but at the same time, you knew battling the council was a losing game, and that the only hope you had of defeating them was to let Obi-Wan save you. He didn't mind saving you all the time, which you appreciated, but often wondered about. It could not possibly be energizing to argue over the sake of another human being, and yet, he did. It must be exhausting to defend you on the daily. You'd have to find a way to thank him some time for it.
"Here, try this," Anakin slid you something in a tall glass, bright yellow in color and glowing against the steal countertop.
You raised an eyebrow before taking it in your hands to inspect it first. You sniffed it once, deeming it very acidic, before scrunching up your face and letting out a breath, downing it anyway.
Anakin looked surprised, his eyes wide and his jaw slack as he watched your reaction to that much alcohol at once. You cringed, the sting of it going down your throat was not pleasant, and not something you were used to, but in a few seconds, you already began to feel the tingling effects of it in your bloodstream. The energy, the cloudiness, the intoxication.
"Well, you weren't supposed to have the whole thing at once," he commented, but it was already far too late for that. Padme came up behind him, her shimmering evening dress was very beautiful under the lights. She watched on with concern for you, knowing you weren't like this usually, and if you were willing to do something Obi-Wan didn't want you doing, your mind must have really needed an escape.
"I think that's enough to drink for you," she took the glass from your hand and shoved it in the direction on the bar tender, who grabbed it and flipped it up onto the rack with ease. He was putting on some sort of a show to impress the patrons, throwing drink mixers, washing glasses, and serving guests, all while paying close attention to the Jedi visitors who had never been in here before.
"No, I need more. I can still think straight," you joked, your laughter carrying over a little too long for you to be considered sober. You weren't a lightweight per say, but perhaps just easily tipsy.
"That's the point. We don't want you in any more trouble with the council, and what about Obi-Wan? You know he wouldn't approve of you doing this," Padme was trying to be the voice of reason but was having a very hard time doing so when a half-drunk Anakin started pressing soft kisses into the crook of her neck.
"If he were here, I wouldn't be," you scoffed, turning to the tender and ordering another drink. Something small, but strong. "And besides, you might wanna get him home before he gets too handsy in public. I'll take the tram back to the temple when I'm done, I promise."
Your word of being responsible didn't quite ease her mind, but she almost considered it, seeing as Anakin was getting a little bit too intoxicated to function. She shook her head, standing her ground and breaking away from Anakin as she came right beside you. She knew that some of the patrons here were more often than not disrespectful to women, and even though you had a lightsaber strapped to your hip, it wasn't always enough when you were alone, much less drunk.
"Stay here, don't drink anything else until I get back," she said with a pointed finger. You put your arms up in fake surrender before watching her leave to a corner of the club, taking her holo-transmitter in hand.
You took the drink that the bar tender slid to you, nodding in thanks before tipping it to your mouth.
"I'm not a snitch, but you really shouldn't drink anything until she's back. She has a way of knowing things. She'll get very angry very fast when she finds out."
"If," you corrected him, "if she finds out. And besides, I have a way of knowing things, too."
"Yes, I believe that's called the force. She doesn't need it, she just knows."
You slammed back the green liquid, feeling a burn that not only hit your throat, but made your eyes water slightly. It was pain, but it was different pain. The type of pain you inflict on yourself just because it feels good.
"Well, that could be because you're married to her," you joked, feeling the buzz circulate your head more. You weren't able to quite get to a place of drunkenness, and you were upset about it. Anakin didn't ever seem like he was able to, either. You supposed beings with higher M counts were less susceptible to the aftereffects of being intoxicated. It made sense. The force was the base of all existing life, and you both were practically super-powered by it. It probably gave you a bit more immunity in order to protect your mind.
"Or because I've seen her in the senate, I'm telling you... she just knows."
"Alright then, let's have another drink together, see if she knows about it when she gets back," you said, haling over the bar tender to top both you and Anakin off yet again. He did so quickly and efficiently, and in no time, you were clinking glasses, downing the liquid as fast as you could. You were done first, and you chalked that up to Anakin being slow at ingesting literally anything. You remembered how long it would take him just to finish a glass of Bantha milk when you both were kids.
You were about to set your glasses back down on the counter when you both felt a hard smack come across the back of your heads.
Ow..
"I told you not to drink anymore," she said, her voice becoming a bit louder than it usually was. She was by no means a quiet person, as a senator she was loud and well spoken, but now she was just loud. "And you, need I remind you that she is your responsibility till Obi-Wan gets here?"
"I'm not anyone's responsibility but my own, besides, Anakin should honestly-" you paused mid-sentence, cutting yourself off to rethink about her last words. "I'm sorry, did you say here? As in he's coming to this bar?"
"I just got off a transmission with him. He's back on Coruscant early."
You dropped your jaw, looking at her like she'd done something unbearable. You raised your hands up and pretended to crush something in them, your face doing a good enough job of conveying to her your emotions without words, although you still had quite some words to say.
"I can't believe you called him," you stressed, being overly dramatic in your hand motions as you continued. "I'm going to be punished for the rest of my life! I'll never become a knight! I'll probably never see the light of tomorrow!"
"Oh, calm down, he wasn't mad," she explained her face was as dull as could be, and Anakin was watching from behind her in pure amusement. He knew he shouldn't be laughing, but the scene you were causing on this side of the bar was definitely cheering him up from the events of today.
"You don't know what Obi-Wan looks like when he's mad," you told her, but she was right. When she called him, he had shown no signs of hostility, or even anger at your situation.
"Maybe not, but I know what he looks like when he's concerned."
You shut up for a moment, some of the alcohol beginning to take effect, not so much in slurring your speech, or slowing your reaction time, but in making your thoughts spin around in your head like a blender.
"He'll be here any minute, and I don't think you want to be here when he shows," she turned to Anakin, handing her the ignition pod for the speeder you all took here. "Go out and wait for me, and don't even think about flying."
He dropped his shoulders, realizing the fun of the evening was coming to an end. He understood she was being wise in making sure you were delivered into the hands of Obi-Wan safely, but he didn't understand why he had to leave. Oh, yes, he did. Obi-Wan wouldn't yell at you in public, but he'd never had to twice about giving Anakin an earful when he did something stupid.
Now that he knew of Obi-Wan's feelings for you, he knew that it would enrage his old master to know that Anakin took you out drinking, even though it was your idea.
"Would you like to enlighten me on the real reason Anakin suggested we come here?" she had a mothering tone, almost. It was funny, your lack of mother figure caused you to see it in even your closest of friends, heck, even Ahsoka, who stood several years younger than you could remind you of a mom sometimes.
"I would not," you said, your head becoming a little lighter as your eyes began to see the lights in the room a little differently. You mind was becoming fuzzy, but not blurred. You weren't drunk, but you were still quite far from sober.
"Are you doing this out of spite?" She was guessing now, seeing if she could get anything out of you. For her sake of sleeping tonight, she wanted to know this wasn't an actual issue. "Look, I know how you feel about him, but this isn't going to get his attention in a good way."
"That's not why I'm doing it," you said, finally turning to look at her and give her the real reason why you were here, why she was here, and why Anakin had been here. "I need him to see that I'm old enough to make my own decisions. I want him to trust me to make them myself and not hover over my shoulder to keep watch."
"He does trust you to make you own decisions, but it disappoints him when you make bad ones."
You understood what she was saying but didn't want to take it into consideration. You knew Obi-Wan was probably going to give you a lecture this evening on the dangers of your behavior, it was inevitable.
"This is a bad decision then, hmm?" you weren't mad at her, but your intoxicated mind was not able to filter the tone in which the words were spoken. It came out harsher than you had intended.
"It was a decision you made without thinking, which is another reason why he's disappointed. He loves you more than you know, and he only wants what's best for you."
You scoffed, beginning to sip the water that Padme had set in front of you, trying to help sober your mind a bit more. Not that you were all too affected to begin with.
"He doesn't love me, he can't," you knew what she meant, but the lines of love in your mind had been running an awful close stretch lately, and you wanted to bring it up just so you could tell her how much you hated yourself for it. "He can never be with me the way I want him to be."
"If I've learned anything from Obi-Wan, it's that only a Sith deals in absolutes. Just look at Anakin and I... How can you be so sure he'll never consider it?" She made a valiant point there, but you had something she did not yet know about.
"Why don't you ask your dear friend Satine Kryze?" You looked back ahead of you, clenching your jaw after that name left your lips. They tasted bad, the words that were her name. You didn't like letting them loose from your mouth.
"The duchess?" She asked confused. She furrowed her brows, shaking her head as if what you said was crazy. Maybe you were really drunk.
"Mhm, from what I understand, she and my Master have some complicated history."
Oh, she thought. You were jealous and having learned about the man your affections lied with having perhaps a past relationship with a woman who has since made her way back into his life, you weren't handling it well.
"Were they-?"
"Yep." you said shortly, the word cutting off any chances of her finishing that sentence. You hated that it was reality. You wished she didn't exist. You wished Satine Kryze had never been born, or better yet, you wished that her assassination attempts had been successful. You wished you hadn't helped Obi-Wan save her.... but you always helped him, no matter the cost.
"I'm sorry," she said, finally understanding what this whole entire escapade was about. The jealousy, the need for independence, the craving of something to intoxicate your mind. It all made sense, now. She was regretting calling Obi-Wan, but perhaps the best thing for you would be to talk it out.
"Yeah, me too."
It was then, you sensed a familiar presence enter the doorway, and upon seeing you look over, Padme mimicked your actions and her eyeline met with Obi-Wan, who indeed, was not angry. He wore a look of concern and fear on his face and making eye contact with you seemed to dull that if only a little.
-
The ride back to the temple was completely silent, as you sensed he thought you were drunk, and not coherent enough to listen to his words deeply enough if he spoke to you. You could have easily mended that, asking him about his mission, but you were far too focused on avoiding getting reprimanded.
He didn't say anything to you until he got you home, into the main room of your apartment. He stripped you of your cloak, hanging it by the doorway and watching you take a seat on the couch. It was only then he realized you were sober enough to understand what you'd done, and you were readying yourself to speak with him about it.
He didn't even know how to start; how should he start? In all the years he'd trained you, you'd never done anything truly bad or disobedient to the rules. You and Anakin were plenty mischievous, but you weren't bad. You were his beam of light, that could do no wrong. The one who made him feel like maybe hope was more existent in what seemed like an endless war. You were the optimist, the encourager, and as he always said, you were the light incarnate.
"Little one," he sat down across from you and sensed your guilt. It was only now that he felt it in rippling waves, and he figured it was because only now, when you were home and, in his presence, that you really thought about your actions. "I know that you're not one to act so impulsively like this. Something is bothering you, and I can't help you unless you tell me what it is."
"You can't help me with this, master."
His heart cracked a little at hearing the formal term you'd used with him. You were shutting up all your walls, making it impossible for him to even find a trace of evidence as to what could possibly be driving you towards these actions.
He moved from his seat to kneel in front of you, lifting your head so that your eyes were visible. They were filled with unshed tears, but you would not let them fall. You'd cried in front of him countless times before, but now you held them back, trying to avoid any signs of weakness. He'd already seen many, though. He didn't care; he wanted to help you, to make all your problems go away. You loved him for it. For many reasons among that, of which you were too tired to name.
"Let me try," he was looking at you with something you hadn't seen in his eyes before. He seemed to be concerned, but more than that, he seemed angry. Not at you, but at whatever was making you feel this way. "Please."
And then the tears were coming, pouring out in droves that you could not control even if you wished you could. It hurt so badly to think the man before you were the reason for these tears, because he had done nothing but be kind and good to you for all the days of your life. It was only because of your stupid feelings that he made you cry. If only he knew.
"Hold me," you whispered, closing your eyes and waiting for a response. He instantly came to your side and clung to you, whatever you needed. He pulled you into his chest, and tightly tucked you in his embrace. He wouldn't be letting go anytime soon, and he was just fine with it. "I'm sorry."
He wanted to say not to apologize, that it was okay, and you were going to be alright, but he wasn't actually sure of any of those things. He couldn't be. You were going through something horrible, and refused to tell him what it was, so how could everything be, okay?
"I know it seems like you have to go through this alone, but you don't. Whatever it is, tell me, I promise you I will do my best to fix it."
You didn't want him to keep fixing things for you. He did it because he loved you, but you didn't know that. You thought he did it because he didn't trust you to do it yourself. The thing in question, though, of which needed fixing, he couldn't truly fix if he wanted to. You had no idea why he did the things he did. You didn't know it was because he would move mountains and earth to make you happy. You only knew that your master cared for you far beyond what anyone else in the galaxy possibly could.
"I can't be fixed," you told him through your tears.
Love me, that's all I ask for. Then everything will be fixed. Then everything will be okay.

FINAL ROUND-UP ❤️‍🔥
Here are the last submissions to the first edition of the Sith Obikin Fest! In total we received over 40 works🔥
Stay tuned for our next announcements / thank-yous and a very exciting project coming SOON!
• Birth Astride A Grave (a play in two acts) by nngi_e
After his defeat on the fiery shores of Mustafar, a captive Obi-Wan Kenobi receives four visitors in the darkness of his cell:
a beloved Master long gone,
a beautiful Queen shrouded in blue,
a cruel Shadow covered in scars,
and the Sun at the center of it all.
• Vader Closes In by ArtisticlyBeautiful
Vader finds Obi-Wan in his cave on Tatooine. He will do whatever it takes for Obi-Wan to feel the heartache he has to live with now.
Set during the Kenobi series.
DW: Non-con, bottom obi-wan, ruthless vader
DNW: Piss, sweetness
• Three Measures of Blood by your cheap thrills (eurosthewanderer)
Sith! Obi-Wan stumbles upon a boy in his travels and instantly feels his great potential in the Force.
He snatches Anakin before anyone else can and proceeds to teach him the ways of the Dark Side.
DW: Go wild. Anything like the Jedi Quest or Rogue Planet, but they are both Sith. Perfect excuse to dive into the Sith lore and create their practices. You can make it as long as you want with Anakin of any age. But the world-building of the Sith is essential.
DNW: Only brief mentions of the teachings. Seriously, you can make it as wild as you can, but details are essential.
• wild animals i have known by travellingcircus
Reverse age AU - Set whenever
Sith Obi-Wan (wild and borderline feral), Jedi Master Anakin (always toeing the line of being a darksider but never falling)
Really I just want sith Obi-Wan to call jedi Anakin daddy (no age play). A plot would be nice, but I am far too happy with nothing but smut.
DW: Daddy kink, possessiveness, obsession, top Anakin, bottom Obi-Wan, they're disgustingly cute about each other but not in a healthy way
DNW: piss, scat, vomit, age play, omegaverse, unhappy ending, major character death
• Rage, rage against the dying of the light by Golden_Daffodils
Palpatine miscalculates. Killing Obi-Wan Kenobi is the reason Anakin falls, but he did not expect the boy to rebel and try to kill him in return when Anakin learns who he is and his role in Obi-Wan's death.
Would love a angst filled fic, with Anakin falling because Obi-Wan is dead, as Palpatine thought he would, and that biting Palpatine in the ass lol
Also it's up to you if Obi-Wan is really dead or not. I just want to make clear that the most important person for Anakin will always be Obi-Wan.
If nsfw, bottom Anakin/top Obi-Wan and lots of tender/passionate sex reunion.
No rape/non con, hardcore kinks, Anakin kneeling to Palpatine, Anakin killing other Jedi (I don't want him to be the instigator but he can kill to defend himself should you wish to go on that route), anidala, Obianidala, QuiObi.
• Bound By You by BlueAreTheStars
Reverse Age AU - Takes place in GFFA
Peace in the galaxy. A shaky treaty resulting in a tri-annual competition to see who reigns for a short period of time: the Empire or the Republic. It is not built to last.
Anakin Skywalker, older but no wiser from his Clone Wars escapades, is of course the Jedi's chosen champion, as much as he does not wish to be. There is no match for his power, his skills, anywhere in the galaxy now that peace has been declared but when a lithe young man steps into the arena, with gold eyes and an obvious hard-on for him, maybe Anakin has finally met one.
• mine, always by DPRen
Set in Rots. Canon divergence. Obi-Wan kills Palpatine in a fit of jealous rage at seeing Anakin kneel to be Palps apprentice. And now Anakin has to try and get his master back from the dark side while fighting his own internal battle. No unhappy endings ( happy sith murder husbands pretty please )

Sweet Taste of Poison
Summary: While guarding Padme after a long meeting of the senators, you drink poison meant for her. In these moments, you realize where your priorities lie. That is with Anakin Skywalker, your best friend and the love of your life.
Warnings: hallucinations, poison, mentions of death
A/N: so basically Padme and Anakin feel nothing for each other, just a platonic relationship:)) Maybe a little cheesy at the end? I’m just a sucker for a cheesy ending
Tumblr media
“This dreadful meeting is almost over, one more night and we can return home.” Obi-wan said, walking down the hallway of the mansion we’ve been at for days.
The senators were all sent to agree on a treaty, although they didn’t all agree. The older senators disagreed of course, thinking their time is much more valuable than this problem they’ve been wasting it on. The younger senators, Padme included, think this treaty can bring more people together. Obi-wan, Anakin, Ahsoka and you stood in the corners of the meeting room for the last four days. Instructed to make no noise, have no comments, just to stand watch, protect the valuable lives in this room.
The days only dragged on, over and over they go back and forth arguing the same topic. Then we’d get assigned to a senator, other Jedi would come in and we’d each guard a door for the night. Then, in the morning, we’d do it all over again. But luckily, things finally seem to be wrapping up, they only need one more person to agree, and then this horrible week will come to a close.
“Be careful,” You said looking as Anakin was talking to Ahsoka, “that’s what you said two days ago.”
“You’re right, don’t worry. You will be home soon, where you and Anakin can go about and almost get yourselves killed because you don’t listen.”
“I’m going to assume this is just your tired side speaking, Obi-wan.”
“Oh no, Y/N. I only speak the truth.” He had a smile when he said it, although you know he isn’t truly happy about that.
“I like to think of it as I go with him because someone has to. Someone has to look out for him, I’ve been doing it all my life. Since we were both padawans and we thought we were invincible.”
“And look at the price you both have paid for believing that.”
We both stood silent, neither one of us having anything to say to the other after that. You knew the prices Anakin paid for the choices he’s made, and you also knew the prices he’s paid for simply just doing what he was told. A metal hand, a long scar across his face, nightmares that plagued him. And better than anything, you knew the prices you’ve paid. Although all your limbs are still intact you also sported a scar across your face, stretching from the left side of your temple, to the right side of your chin. Obi-wan sighed, slouching a bit.
“That didn’t come out the way I wanted it to.”
“I understand how you meant it.” You said to him, and truly you did.
There was an angry growl that sounded down the hallway, and we both looked at Anakin, who was getting visibly frustrated with Ahsoka. The wrinkle in his forehead is deep, and even from down the hall I can tell his jaw is tightly clenching.
We made our way down the hallway, hearing the very familiar bickering between Anakin and his padawan.
“Ahsoka!” Obi-wan happily greeted as we walked towards them.
“Master Kenobi.” She responded. She was seething, you could tell by the way her jaw was clenched and the furrow of her brow. Obi-wan opened his mouth to speak, but was interrupted by a padawan, who ran down the hallway.
“Something urgent has come up, Masters Yoda and Windu request the your presence!” She exclaimed, we all looked at each other, trying to figure out who was going and who would stay.
“Padme has a meeting to attend to tonight, so you three go. I’ll meet you guys later.”
“I’ll stay back-” Anakin started speaking, obviously looking for any reason to escape his padawan.
“Absolutely not. Y/N is more than capable to do a job she has been doing for the past week. Plus, let the ladies spend some time together.” Obi-wan said, smiling a bit at you. You tried not to smile, but your lip twitched ever so slightly, which Anakin surely saw.
“I’m a lady! Y/N, I can help you!” You sighed, knowing Ahsoka must accompany Anakin.
“I’m sorry Ahsoka, you must go with Anakin.”
“But-”
“Wherever he goes, you must follow.”
“Like that’s ever stopped you before.” She spoke, crossing her arms.
You remembered what is was like being in her shoes, having to do whatever you were told whenever they told you. Although, life is still very much following the orders of the council, being a young Padawan was like being on a very short leash. You could hear Anakin quietly lecture her about how she spoke, but you took nothing to heart.
The walk to Padme’s room was short, the hallways eerily silent. She opened up the door before you could get the second knock, smiling as she invited you in.
“I never understand why we cannot just agree on something within one day, but now we’ve been here for nearly a week. A week where we could have turned the tables in this war. Instead, we are inside fighting on how to stop a war that will soon be on our doorstep.”
The one thing you learned about Padme since she came to Coruscant was that she was determined. Whatever task she put her mind to would be done, one way or another. She never stopped fighting for what she thinks is right, even if she lost. This made her quick to become your friend. Her unwavering kindness, and friendly smile sucked you in. It was a breath of fresh air in this otherwise stuffy order.
“I’m sorry,” she started. “It must be boring to hear me complain about the after you just have to stand there everyday-”
“I don’t mind, Padme.” You tried to reassure her. “It’s better than listen to Anakin and Ahsoka bicker.” You said with a laugh. She also laughed at this, agreeing heavily with your statement. “They are more alike than I think they both realize. But she’s good for him, keeps him a little more... grounded per say.”
“They were guarding the door the other night, and I swear they never stopped talking out there.” Padme said with another laugh. “ I remember that’s how he and Obi-wan used to be.”
“Oh yeah,” you responded. “Tell me about it. “Anakin was never one to take orders, he did whatever he thought was right, even if at the time it wasn’t so. I think he’s finally realizing exactly how Obi-wan felt all this time.”
“But you guys would always save each other, you always followed him, as did Obi-wan.”
“Obi-wan and Anakin are like brothers.” You said. “Not only does Obi-wan have a commitment to Anakin, but Obi-wan cares for him. I think he used Anakin to fill the gap, to fill his time so he wouldn’t have to think about what happened to his master. Obi-wan dropped everything for Anakin, and together they are, they are truly magnificent. They are brothers, through and through.”
“You always followed after him too. I may be a busy Senator, Y/N, but I am not blind.”
“It’s a difficult situation. But yes, I will always follow him into whatever he needs.  I grew up with him, after my master died, I was almost taken in by them. I never knew how badly I needed someone to rely on before I knew Anakin.”
“And that is how you got the scar, following him?”
“Yes.”
“I didn’t mean anything by that.” That was the other thing about Padme, she was genuinely a good person. In this time, you don’t meet too many of those.
“I don’t mind, it doesn’t bother me as much as it used to. I hated it when I first got it, of course the pain of it was horrible. But I saw it as a failure, it was a permanent mark of a loss I couldn’t hide. Everyone could see it, and everything would think I was weak. It was Anakin who told me otherwise. Of course now he has one to match. He told me to view it as a warning.”
“A warning?” She asked. Sitting down on the huge white comforted bed.
“A warning to anyone who tries to take me on again. I laughed the first time he said it, it sounded so stupid and childish, but I never shied away from the fact I had it ever again.”
“Sounds like he’s taught you a lot.” She said with a smirk. You stared at her, a shocked expression on your face.
“Now, Senator Amaidala, I have no idea what you are trying to insinuate!”
“Maybe it has something to do with how fond you two are of each other, or the fact that every time you walk into a room he turns red-”
A knock on the door stopped you both mid conversation. You looked at the time, late, but not too late where this would be a cause for concern. You opened the heavy wooden door to a droid, he held a platter containing two glasses of water.
“From Obi-wan.” It spoke, more robotic than you’ve ever heard a droid.
“Thank you.” You said, smiling to the droid as you closed the door. You set the platter down on one of the side tables, Padme walking over to you to grab a glass.
“That droid had good timing,” Padme said, as you sipped the water. “Stopped right when I was finally about to express how you two act when you see each other.”
But you weren’t focused on what she was saying, nor could you really hear her at all. There was that sense, the sense that told you something was wrong, very wrong. It had hit you almost immediately, the smell the water had, and the little bit of a green residue on the glass.
Poison.
You dropped the glass, causing it to shatter and water flew in a million droplets all over the carpeting. Although it felt like your bones weighed a thousand pounds each, you managed to smack the glass out of Padme’s hand.
“Y/N?” She sounded panicked, you didn’t realize you were on the ground until you saw her lean over you. It was as you were under water. Your sight was glossy, and moving as if looking at her under a wave. You couldn’t make out what she said to you, but in a flash she was gone. The only thing above you were the high ceilings, and the orange glows of the lamps lit in the room.
“How could you be so stupid? You should have sensed this, known this. Obi-wan wouldn’t send anything to the room, but you heard the name and didn’t even question where it came from. You had let your guard down, you were comfortable with your friend, and that was never something you should have done while guarding her life. You were smarter than this, smart enough to not let friendships get in the way of your job. But apparently, you weren’t.
In could have been two seconds, or two hours. Your brain couldn’t tell, but soon you could make out the sound of footsteps. Four people stood in front of you, all yelling and moving around. You recognized Padme’s worried voice, the voice of Anakin shouting some orders at Ahsoka, the voice of Obi-wan.
You had always wondered how Obi-wan did it. In the worst, the most stressful situations, he was the most calm. But there was nothing calm about his features  now. Even with the distorted vision you had, you could see how worried he was. Your body was lifted up from the ground, the mechanical arm wiring soft noises next to your ear. Which could only mean one thing. Anakin. Your vision was almost all black, but you could make out his messy hair, and the gloss that nw settled over his eyes. Where had everyone else gone? What was going on?
-
In that very moment, that very millisecond of time, everything stopped. There was no laughter, no light, no breathing, no air.  No more meetings, no more death, no more maps, no more holonet communications. No more fighter planes, no more cruisers, no more stars. There was only you and him, that’s all there ever was, all there ever will be. There were only his salty tears, but no sound to his voice. His Adams apple bobbed up and down as his mouth opened and closed. Maybe screaming, maybe screaming for someone, something, anything. Colors flashed passed your eyes, green like the garden in Coruscant, blue like the sea in Naboo, gold like the sands in Tatooine. Maybe this was how it was supposed to end, maybe this is how your story was written from the moment you were born. You would grow up, fight, and die. Never experiencing much else all the planets had to offer. Maybe when you died you would get the chance to rewrite your story, write it full of love and laughter. Maybe you’d wake up and this would all be a sick nightmare that you’d wake up from in a cold sweat. But maybe, just maybe this was it. This was all it is. This was dying. Is this what you’ve avoided all those times? Was this what innocent people saw? What countless Jedi saw everyday? What would Anakin see? Or Obi-wan, or Ahsoka? Would they see these colors? Or would they remember everything that happened in their lives? Would they remember the story they are leaving behind? The life, the legacy they have created? Would innocent lives mourn their deaths? Would children weep in the streets at their fallen bodies? Would anyone remember their names? Maybe time would pass, and their graves would grow moss like a sickness growing inside them. Maybe time would pass, and those weeping children would tell their children about the brave soldiers that fought for their freedom. Maybe there would be nothing, just a flash of light and then it would all be over. No remains of what once was. Maybe there would just be Anakin, holding your life in his arms, the life of his best friend, his equal, the one who he truly loves more than life and all the stars. Would you leave him to walk this world alone? Would you leave him to fight, to die, in a world who never understood him? But no other choice was given to you, there was no hand of another being, no light, no rope to pull you to a better place. There was no sign of anything else. Just his trembling hands, just his voice that you cannot hear over the pounding of your blood and the beating of your heart. Was this all there was? Just a vast open nothingness for you to live out the rest of eternity? This was the dance of death, this over and over spinning in circles waiting for something to change. You’ve danced this dance for years, maybe it was finally time for you to stop. Were you truly afraid of death? Or were you afraid of what you’d leave behind. Maybe you’ve gone mad. Or maybe, you’re finally seeing this world for what it truly has to offer you. Nothing but fear, for the world doesn’t make you, the world doesn’t shape your being, your existence, your soul. Only you do. You choose what you fear and what you do not, you choose whether you get back up and fight or whether or not you stand down. You choose, because this cold and unforgiving world will always try and choose for you, and trust that it never gives you the option you so desire. The planets will eat away at your body until you’re nothing but a memory, and maker be damned, but that’s not how this story will end. For this story, your story, is about you. And it will not end at the hand of some selfish bastard who didn’t even have the guts to kill you hand to hand. It will only end when you’ve truly had time to accept it. It will only end, once you’ve done everything you’ve been put here to do. Your story, Anakin’s story, the Galactic Republic’s story isn’t amazing, isn’t great, but it’s the only one you know. So get up, get up and fight for it. Get up and fight for a chance to permanently alter this story. Because if you do not do it now, you never will.
--
Medical droids were busying themselves around you when you finally opened your eyes. It felt as if they’d been closed for a millennium. But the face you saw at the side of the bed was not the one you were expecting. Not the rough around the edges best friend of yours, but his padawan.
“Ahsoka?” You whispered. Although you did not want to whisper, but your voice could barley form the words to speak.
“Master Y/N!” She jumped up from her chair, rushing the medical droids over to examine you. She waited quietly, muttering something to R2 to beeped happily and left the room. Once the droids had left you once again, she came back over.
“We’ve been so worried about you. Master Obi-wan has barley been seen by anyone, and Mas-”
“Where is Anakin?” You croaked out. Not feeling bad that you had just completely cut the young girl off.
“I just sent R2 to get him. He refused to leave this room for so long that Master Yoda had to force him out. It got kind of ugly, but he’s been sneaking in every night to see you. You’ve been out for a couple weeks-”
“A couple weeks?” You croaked again, cutting her off again as well.
A couple weeks? What had happened with the meetings? Padme? What was the conclusion the senators finally came to?
So many questions went spiraling through your head that it began to pound. But before your thoughts had started to spiral too bad, you heard it.
“Y/N.” You recognized that voice anywhere, you could pick it out of a crowd of a million people. You turned your head as much as you could, seeing him rush through the door and to your side. You didn’t know when Ahsoka left, but you were grateful to her for leaving you two alone in this moment.
He sat on the bed, both his hands on the sides of your face. He looked pretty much the same, just some big bags under his eyes that weren’t there before. But you blocked that out, and closed your eyes as he connected his forehead to yours. The energy radiating off him would power the entire planet, and you wondered if his is how he’s been al these weeks that you laid here unmoving.
“Is Padme okay?” You spoke softly, the roughness of your voice raising more alarms in Anakin’s mind. But he smiled, a smile of relief.
“You saved her, you saved her life.” You nodded at that, feeling a knot of stress release itself within your body. “Maker I thought I lost you. I tried to be here, I didn’t leave for so long. I wanted to be here-”
You cut him off my lightly laying your thumb over his lips, the rest of your hand resting on his cheeks like he had his only moments ago.
“I know, Anakin.” The reassurance made the soft tears leave his eyes, and he closed them sharply.
“You looked dead, you just went limp. You went limp in my arms, and all the color drained from your face. Your eyes, they were just dull.” He explained, reopening his eyes and looking to you. “I will never let anything like this happen again, I promise.”
“I’m alive, I will be okay. I promised you long ago I would never leave you alone. And by all the stars as my witness I’m sticking to that promise Ani.”
“I love you, Y/N.”
You were still loopy, and not sure if the words you just heard were even real. Maybe you just imagined them in the state you are in.
“W-what?” You asked him, your gaze never leaving his.
“I love you, I’m in love with you. I just want you to know- I just, I can’t keep this inside anymore. I’ve loved you since I was a kid, and almost losing you. Holding your dying body in my arms, I-” He was still choking on his tears, leaving wet streaks down his gorgeous face. “I never want to be away from you. I am in love with you. And it would have killed me everyday of my life if I never got the chance to tell you that.”
You didn’t know what to say, still half convinced this was a fever dream you’d soon wake up from. Your voice failed you, so instead you pulled him down to meet your lips. A simple thing you had imagined doing for so many years. You never would have imagined the warmth that radiated off of them, or how smooth they would feel against your own. You were both calm in that moment, but desperate to show how you felt other than using words. His lips were flushed as he pulled away, but not as flushed as his cheeks were.
“I love you, Anakin Skywalker.” You said, a small chuckle leaving your lips as you said it. You never imagined that this situation would be how you both confessed your feelings for each other. You had always thought maybe on some remote planet far away, were you could get away from the war, from the order, and live in complete freedom and happiness. But instead, it was on a bed in the medical wing of Coruscant, with medical droids buzzing in the background. But it couldn't be more perfect to you, and it couldn't be more perfect to him. To Anakin Skywalker, the chosen one, to the love of your life.
