I'm pretty slow on analyzing stuff lol so something I just realized you all probably already have, but:

When O.B. shocks Loki to try and find out how his time slipping works, when Loki turns around you can see some slight fear and he looks very startled. Rightfully so but then I remembered that for this loki not so long ago he was dealing with the avengers.

I don't have the exact gif of them getting shocked, but her first thought was probably lightning 👀

Marvel hasn't really touched on thor in the series so I wonder how Loki thinks of him? We know he clearly loves their mom, and the look on her face when they saw the Odin Ragnorak clip in the time theater, and the conversations with thor, but I wonder if their is some fear that thor would still be angry??

Fear.

It was what had woken him again. He hadn‘t slept the whole night. No matter what he tried, he kept tossing and turning. Sighing, he turned to look out the big, gold-framed balcony doors beside his bed. The dawn was breaking. Soon, he had to be in the big hall, leading the kingdom until their ruler comes back.

„He will come back. He will…“

His throat constricted as the cold fist of fear wrapped it’s gruesome grip around it.

He dressed in the dark. His formal wear was only granted an annoyed glance. Then he strode out of his chambers, clad in a soft linen tunic, fine wool breeches and his riding boots.

He knew his destination and his big strides carried him there in mere minutes. When the scent of hay and horses filled his nose, he inhaled deeply. It had calmed him down since he was a young prince. It was his hiding place. Nobody looked for the noble, arrogant prince in the place that was dirtier than everything else.

He picked up three apples from a barrel at the big entry before he shut the gates again. Taking a bite of one of the apples, he walked calmly towards the far end of the stables. The two stablehands were used to seeing him here- more often just lately - so they bowed quickly and resumed their work when he walked by.

In the last bay, there she was. The beautiful, white mare, Magni. And, hidden behind her underneath a heap of straw, her foal, Hófvarpnir. He was born six weeks previous and as strong as his mother  and his father, Svađilfari, combined.

She walked towards him and put her soft nose on his shoulder, nudging him to make him give her the treat she knew he was hiding behind his back.

Chuckling softly, he held up the apple.

„Good morning to you too, Darling. You are a bright one, aren’t you?“

He fed her the apple and slipped inside her bay. The foal eyed him suspiciously but, he could smell the apple on him, so he trotted over to his side to wait patiently.

He ruffled his mane and held out the apple.

„Here you are.“

He fed the remainder of his own apple to the mare and sat down on the cool stone floor near the exit to the meadows on the back of Magni’s bay.

For a while he sat there, only staring outside. Watching the sun rise from behind the trees.

The foal laid down next to him, blowing his hot breath on the hand that rested on his knee.

He smiled weakly, but furrowed his brows. He felt hot tears stinging in his eyes.

He missed him. More than he probably should.

It wasn’t only his brother he missed. No, he missed his love; his strong arms around his body, his sweet words whispered into his ears in the darkest nights, his assuring gaze on him when he fullfilled his duties - even his booming laughter when he caused mischief again.

It brought a sad smile to his face.

He had been gone for month now. He had left him behind. Them behind.

Him, because he had to take over the position of the ruler until his return. His mare, because she carried an heir to the famous bloodline of their stables. She hadn't been suited for battle in her condition.

And, now her foal was born, their master still has not returned.

He had sent messages. The battles had taken some unexpected turns. They were trapped on another realm, their forces depleted to only a fraction of their former strength.

He knew his brother would come back. He always came back, even if it seemed impossible to win his battles, he always came back. ALWAYS.

He must.

Because, if he didn’t, he would simply wither away. He couldn‘t live without his love anymore. Not when he finally found it after years of hiding and denying himself. He had thought it was wrong, absurd… Disgusting, even. To have such thoughts… Thoughts that invaded his mind every second of his day, awake or not. It almost made him go mad. He had begun to hurt himself. The silver lines on his arms and thighs were a daily reminder of that. He had argued with himself in his head. That he imagined it all inside his mind. The lingering touches, the stolen glances, the unspoken words.

And, when he finally got what he craved so long for, he almost ruined it all by running away and hiding himself again.

But he was found. Pulled from the dark, the shadows, into the light. He had struggled and screamed and cried. But his brother was stronger than him. He forced him to listen, muffled his cries with kisses, let him hit his broad chest with all his force, endured all his curses with patience. Because he knew he didn’t mean it. He knew he had fallen back in old habits. Hurting himself, physically and mentally, because he believed he never deserved to be loved. Because he wasn’t normal. An abomination with no place to belong.

He knew now that he was mistaken. His love… No, the love of his life… Had made that clear. He had a place where he belonged. At his side. For eternety.

It was why he was afraid everytime his love left the realm to fight in seemingly pointless battles, fruitless wars that had no victor and only brought death and destruction.

If he ever lost the love he found, there would be no place in the nine realms to hide from his rage. He would turn loose to seek vengeance for his loss and he knew he was so powerful nothing could stop him. Nothing but HIS love.

It was why he needed him to come back. He can’t lose himself and bring Ragnarok upon the worlds. He would feel that guilt forever. But he couldn‘t change who he was - no matter how hard he tried.

He needed him to ground himself, to keep the monster inside at bay. To keep it from coming out of the darkness and swallowing every light that ever was and ever will be.

He felt it rattling in his cage. His moods were known to everyone around him and, the longer his love was away, the worse they got. He couldn’t do this any longer. He craved to be touched. He even tried to still his cravings with various lovers. But he sent them away everytime. They weren’t his love. They couldn’t satisfy his needs.

And so, he sat there, in the stables, sharing his pain with a creature that he knew would understand him.

„You miss him too, hm?“

The mare huffed and put her soft nostrils in his hand. No one was allowed to go near her apart from the princes. She would kick and bite everyone that tried to put a hand on her. She was as stubborn and fierce as her master.

He laughed. A sad, soft laugh.

The mare lowered her head to his face. He looked in her intelligent brown eyes, seeing himself in them. His face was wet and reddened from his silent tears. She looked at him for a long moment until she finally lifted her head again and bumped his fingers with her nose.

He knew what she wanted. But he wasn’t sure if it was helping their longing or made it worse.

However, he craved it as much as she did.

His fingers began to glow an eerie green; sparks flew from his fingertips.

In front of them appeared a cloud of green mist. At first, it was only a swirl of colours, but slowly the colours took forms and created an image.

A man, blonde and bulky, armed in a heavy breastplate but his muscular arms were bare. He held a hammer in his right hand, his long hair was losely held up by two strings bound in the back. His blue eyes stared at them… But, also, not. They stared straight through them.

He twitched his fingers and the image began to move. It smiled, the eyes focused, it lifted a hand to wave at them, turned the head and looked around.

It was almost as if he was here. Here with them. But they knew he was not. Not for a while longer.

When the sun reached her peak, he snapped his fingers and the image was gone.

He wiped his face with the hem of his tunic and unfolded his legs to stand up to his full, imposing height.

Waving his hand, he conjured his formal attire from his chambers onto his body and held his head high.

He braced himself for the angry questions on his whereabouts that he knew were to come. He had ignored his duties for too long already today.

He was surprised when he walked across the paths that lead to the palace and he saw the whole of the servantry scurrying around like ants. Confused, he grabbed one of the maids to stop her from running to wherever she was headed.

„Tell me girl. What is all this furore about?“

The scrawny woman looked at him with wide eyes.

„Haven’t you heard it, Lord Regent? The King is back! He has just arrived at the gates!“

She winced at his painful grip and, when he realised, he let go of her with a nod.

He needed a moment to grasp what she had said.

The King is back!

Taking two deep, calming breaths, he let his face fall into his long-learned, royal grimace of slight annoyance and strode towards the palace.

Internally, his heart was racing and his thoughts were falling over themselves in their eagerness to be expressed.

The King is back.

"U like thorki" anon here! I wanted to ask what do you find compelling about these characters? Why do you ship them?

well, for one, i am a simple person who likes shakespeare, space, viking mythology and melodramatic/theatrical characters, so, if you mix all of these together, of course that thor has always been my favourite avenger & loki my favourite mcu character overall.

i also really like kingship narratives, so thor v loki to me was an exploration of different attitudes on ruling: the calm, collected & commanding soft-diplomacy mode of early!loki vs the reckless, buttheaded big-stick diplomacy of early!thor + the way in which they shift to autocratic, authoritarian loki & caring, wiser & more democratic thor (i am really talking here more about the movies thor, the avengers & the dark world really).

it’s interesting to see them contrast and complement each other & their co-dependency was always a compelling dynamic for me. they were always two sides of the same coin & always worked more productively and achieved better results if they teamed up. i also really like the acting choices - i think both chris hemsworth and tom hiddleston bring a bombastic dimension to their characters that's so satisfying in a dramatic-play-like setting and they both have great comedic timing, like, they're just delightful to watch playing off each other. seeing all this in a superhero movie was also pretty different and a breath of fresh air at the time

i like thorki both romantically and just as a brotherly relationship - imo they have a really complex and versatile bond that you could explore to great effect, from the wholesome side of the spectrum way into dark, twisted themes if it suited your fancy.

Small answer id that Odin is a thorki shipper

(Jk but seriously does Odin know what kingdom alliance means)

While i was spending my literally-at-least-minutes thinking about Odin's Shit Plan one thing that occurred to me was that since getting Loki actually onto that throne would probably require military support from Asgard (some people might call that "sending an occupying force to install a puppet regime to de facto annex new territory" but obviously i would never do so, ahem) then Loki actually being the heir by law wouldn't really matter at that point either way. Odin may as well send Thor to Jotunheim instead, and then when he inherits Asgard the crowns are united and no more war ever again.

In Thorki terms however what happens is Loki is sent off to Jotunheim alone and sad and weeping, with his slim willowy build and his beautiful soft hair all he has to support himself with, and Thor is like "This doesn't seem... good? He knows fuck all about Frost Giants and doesn't know anyone there and also I miss him. Not in an incest way, OBVIOUSLY. I love him as a brother, I do not crave his touch upon my broad warrior's chest."

He stands at the Bifrost angsting hotly until a dishevelled Asgardian who went off to serve with the Suddenly King Of Jotunheim shows up to say "Yeah that didn't work. Nobody believes he's Lauffey's kid and they don't want him anyway." Oh no! Thor is shooketh and aghast! SHIT JUST GOT REAL!

He grabs an eight-legged horse (it's been hanging around for a while, nobody knows where it came from - WTF 8 legs??? - but it's always reminded him a wee bit of Loki so he likes it) and he heads to Jotunheim to save his bro! Then he stops, doubles back, gathers an army and heads out again, this time properly equipped with more than optimism and love. Brotherly love and not incest love OF COURSE.

And then idk everyone fights and in the aftermath it turns out that WAS incestuous love after all I guess? Thor tells Loki that you know what our dad's a bit of a dick, sending you off like that barely supported and away from me I mean from Asgard. And Loki's like yeah he is. I hate that bastard so much now. >:(

And Thor says Well it occurs to me that one of us is the theoretical heir to Jotunheim albeit not successfully so, and the other is the heir to Asgard and like... well if dad died I'd be king of Asgard and I would totally commit all my forces to supporting you over there. Might even. You know. Marry the two kingdoms together symbolically and literally. If you'd be into that. But this plan would rely on me being king and dad might just live forever so. Ah well, it was nice idea, right?

And Loki says, I don't know if you've noticed but we've still got that army from three paragraphs ago and that leaves Asgard basically undefended and WHAT IF - I'm not saying it's a good idea but WHAT IF... we told them Odin had been replaced by like. A witch? An evil witch pretending to be him. And that we need to go there and kill him to save Asgard from him. This sounds a bit unlikely yeah but would both of Odin's sons lie about a thing like that? And if Odin isn't really Odin then you'd be king now anyway so they'd be sworn to follow you and... As I said, just an idea. We probably shouldn't do that.

And then Thor has a think about it all (which takes a while as he is slightly Stupid!Thor in this story) and then he stands up and calls out to the army who were offscreen for the intimate dialogue bit but otherwise conveniently close, "RIGHT LADS I've just heard some bad news about Odin."

Reacting to Animated Marvel Shows 8/?

All right, back to the anime Avengers. All you need to know is: pretty Loki (of course the most important part), weird noses, Avengers meets Sora & co., way too fast redemption arc, and another possible incestuous ship for me whoops. Spoilers for Future Avengers 1x20 (and probably 1x19).

Bruno looks a little early Avengers (2012) Loki and I don’t know anything about his usual character design, but between his eyes and the war paint (I think) on his face, he looks a little mind-controlled. [I knew nothing that happened before ep 19 at this point, and even that I didn’t really retain, but damn I was really close to what’s happening here.]

What are your favorite tropes in Thorki fanfiction?

I'm afraid my answer will be terribly unsatisfying, in part because whenever I'm asked anything about tropes, my brain lies back, slides on its sunglasses, and declares that it suddenly doesn't know what tropes are. And also it depends whether you mean to write or to read, because there are a few things I am hesitatant about reading despite loving writing them, because when I'm writing it I know it'll be written the way I like it, and there are also tropes I love reading but I know I cannot write them to save my life. And it also depends whether you mean like. specifically horny tropes or tropes in general XD

so the best I can do is... idk, there are so many tropes that can be fun with them, to me it tends to come down to execution. I like fics that use tropes that feel relevant to the characters, that have something to say about them, and are doing something novel or interesting with them while still being rooted in the canon. And the more painful, the better.

But to not be a complete copout, just a few things that spring to mind, not guaranteed to be the same as I'd have answered yesterday or tomorrow, no warranty offered, caveat emptor, ipso facto, carpe diem, et cetera:

Villain Loki being protective of Thor. I'm the only one allowed to hurt him. Saving him and taking care of him and healing him long after Thor no longer believes Loki cares about him.

Loki concealing his injuries, physical or mental, until he's near collapse, and Thor finding out almost too late and having to reckon with why. Loki, broken, unable to trust anyone with his weakness, to disastrous consequences.

Blue & orange morality for Asgardians in general. A thing I love about the whole setup is that it allows an exploration of a culture that doesn't necessarily define things in the same way as we do at all. As someone who feels outside of so many things about our culture for so many reasons, I love that for them. Loki especially is a liminal character and the story has to be aware of that.

Any setup with Loki creeping on Thor and Thor willingly letting him, that peculiar little dance like a hall of mirrors, all about not quite saying exactly what this is they're doing and who's enjoying what aspects of it.

Anything that doesn't not just not shy away from their brotherly relationship but positively relies upon it and all the extra complication it adds.

I should probably stop there lest i go on all night lol

Quite a handful of them! I'm a believer of ship and let ship, but both Thorki or Stony don't work for me- I much prefer delving into the brotherly aspects of Thor and Loki's relationship, and Steve was just toxic for Tony in canon which single-handedly ruined that ship for me.

🤣 Has a fic ever made your face hurt from laughing so much?

There are so many fics that made my face hurt from grinning so much. But well, the first one I thought of was- With Nasty, Big, Pointy Teeth by NamelesslyNightlock (“Oh,” said Tony, staring down at the rabbit in the middle of the battlefield. “Shit.”

Or, the one in which Loki has mysteriously gone missing, Tony has acquired a cute but rather rude pet, and Thor is mightily suspicious of a rabbit.)

Surprisingly, none at all. I feel like there are potentially mind-blowing works to be found for all types of tropes, and I'm always willing to give them a chance. (Unless of course, I feel squicky about the tags, or ship, or a combination of the tags and ship)

It’s about co-ruling so I shall have to say no. Marriage isn’t the only way to rule together and you don’t need to engage in courtship to be a power couple!

the ‘never doubt that I love you’ speech is a great moment but it also entertains me so much bc the thorki vibes are off the charts and Loki just cannot keep it together. Thor showed up all nicely put together for the coronation ceremony and it just straight up short circuited Loki’s brain.  

Loki: you’re my brother and my-- 

Loki internally: oh Norns don’t say lover. don’t say lover! he can’t find out you’re pining for him. ok too later to end the sentence. it will be noticeable if I don’t say anything now. just think of something. boyfriend? no that’s not good either.

One of my pre-canon Thorki headcanons is that Loki's always harbored feelings for Thor but, of course, intended on taking that secret to the grave ... but, that didn't mean he was willing to sit around and watch as Thor "courted" various women.

So he played up the little brother card in a major way, making it a point to get between Thor and any girlfriend he had whenever the opportunity presented itself, in such an innocuous way that Thor could never quite tell if Loki was being a little shit or if he was genuinely clueless. Like -

Thor and Girlfriend are sitting under an apple tree in Idunn's orchard? Oh, Loki just happened to be climbing trees that day - he swings down from a branch with a bright, "Oh, hi! Fancy meeting you two here," while Thor and Girlfriend jump ten feet. Loki, oblivious, just hops down to the ground and helps himself to one of their apples. "Don't mind if I do," he says, sitting down on their blanket. "It's a lovely day for apple picking, isn't it?"

Or

Thor and Girlfriend have planned to attend the feast (what feast? Any feast, they have them like every weekend) together, but Loki manages to finagle the seat at the table in between them and when Thor says, "uh, Loki, about where you're sitting," Loki cuts him off and says, "Don't worry, I figured you two would fight over who got to sit next to me, so I made it easy, you're welcome."

Or

Thor and Girlfriend have just returned from a romantic horse ride through the countryside and, as they're in the stables, putting away the horses and doing whatever else it is people do post-ride, they get distracted by each other and are leaning in when Loki swings open the stable door. His "oh! Sorry!" is falsely apologetic and teasing. "You were about to kiss, weren't you? That's so sweet, I'll just wait," and then he goes and stands directly outside of the stable door and after about ten seconds yells, "Are you guys done yet?" and there's no reply, and another five seconds goes by, and he yells, "Now are you done?" and Thor practically roars back, "We're done now!" and he's ready to throttle Loki, he really is. Loki continues to be oblivious as he saunters back in, all smiles, like, "I'm so glad you two are back, I have big plans for us this evening," and Thor is just like, internally, norns, give me strength.
