My favorite YouTuber posted a video yday about self-confidence and she talked about how self-esteem is really the reputation we build with ourselves and how we have to shed concern about coming across the "right" way. And I deeply realized how negatively that's affected me, this need to be understood by people when I literally know exactly who I am and no one's opinions can change that. It's fine if you don't get me because I get me. That's all that matters

Hey!! Not sure if you watch variety mash ups. The actors on actors. I think the pairings are really good and sometimes really uh interesting lol Was wondering if you have a pairing that you would really like to see ?
Hey! Yeah! I love all of the round tables and the actors on actors sessions, although I haven't watched many of them yet this year (just been a very busy few weeks!). I've been particularly looking forward to watching Kieran Culkin's one with Claire Danes, espcially because I think Kieran actually interviews other people so well - his Actors on Actors with Dan Levy a couple of years ago shows that really demonstrates that.
There are so many Actors on Actors interviews I'd love to see, but I have Succession on the brain still and given these sorts of interviews are usually in the lead up to the Emmys, I'm going to do the main Succession actors and the current Emmy contenders I'd love to see them do one with:
Alan Ruck and Henry Winkler (Barry). Two actors who broke big as iconic 80s characters (Cameron Frye and The Fonz!) who made their careers in sitcoms only to get these new career defining roles in their 60s and 70s? Love it for them and for us and I feel like they'd be a lot of fun to watch.
Jeremy Strong and Rhea Seehorn (Better Call Saul). I couldn't tell you specifically why with these two, but I do think they've had some similarities career wise where they've been jobbing actors for such a long time and are both experiencing unmatched recognition and success in their 40s. I also think they're both really thoughtful actors who have real insight both into the interiority of their characters and the themes of their respective stories, and I just thinking getting to hear them talk would be neat.
Sarah Snook and Melanie Lynsky (Yellowjackets). I almost put Sarah with Rhea, but it feels almost too obvious, haha. Yellowjackets is a really different show to Succession, but I think there's this really interesting territory between the shows in terms of female rage, repression and survival that would be super ripe for discussion. Plus Sarah and Melanie both being antipodean - - it just feels right to me.
Kieran Culkin and Bill Hader (Barry). The comedy vs drama balance! The cycles of violence and trauma and the different outlets their characters have for that! Another opportunity for comical height difference! The convo would be great, I can feel it.
Matthew MacFadyen and Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso). This would be the most British Actors on Actors imaginable, haha, but they're another one who have interesting parallels personally and professionally, particularly being the children of performers (Matthew's mother was an actress and Hannah's an opera singer), and to talk about that along with the English theatre scene, which they're both very familiar with too, would be interesting, I think.
J Smith Cameron and Sheryl Lee Ralph (Abbott Elementary). I mean, who wouldn't want this one? Their respective backgrounds in theatre, their roles in formative 90s cinema (The First Wives Club! SIster Act 2!), both of them having paid their dues in a zillion one or two ep arcs on every imaginable procedural. I just love that.
Brian Cox and Harriet Walter (Succession / Ted Lasso). I mean, obviously, right?? We were robbed of more scenes with the two of them on the show, but the fact they've been acting with each other on stage since at least the 1980s is magic. Tell me everything, and also every headcanon you dreamt up about Logan and Caroline's relationship.

Can’t decide which numbers have already been asked: pick your favorite or teaser for the next chapter of SoOO?
this ask is the best and i will continue my indecisive streak tonight by picking both 😈
24. favorite youtube channel?
I've been watching a ton of caroline winkler lately! she's very spunky and creative, and I am soaking up all her interior design tips for when we move into the new house.
SOO teaser: (allow me to dust off that word doc, lol 😅)
Hazelle drops to a kneel before him, and he startles back. "Hold still," she commands, wielding a marker. "I'll add a button further in."
He glares over her at the closed door, willing it to not open. "It's fine," he grouses.

How do you get inspo for your builds? Do you just become possessed and start building??? Or you go on pinterest
Love this question Thanks for asking.
Pinterest is a main source of inspo for sure. I've also been binging a lot of interior design youtube lately. Lone Fox and Caroline Winkler are the 2 channels I've watched most recently.
Sometimes inspo comes from just playing the game and needing a certain community lot. Like the gym and modern museum I made for San Myshuno. I'll end up having a bit of an idea inspired by the in game surroundings and then going on pinterest to get some additional ideas.
Other times it's from travels I've made, movies/shows I've watched, other games I'm playing etc. I just have like a light bulb moment and go from there, mixing different things I've seen and looked up and making it my own.
New items can be an inspiration too, whether cc or an official pack. The last interior I made was due to me wanting to use that couch in pierisim's new set and I had a sim couple that still needed to move in together so I tried to merge the styles from their previous places.
I think inspo comes and goes, you can't really force it. I hadn't opened my game in months because I've just been feeling drained. The seasonal depression was extra seasoned this year. And that's okay too, in the end you just need to have fun and not pressure yourself. When you're enjoying yourself, that's when you create the best things no matter what it is you're making.
Edit: I want to add an important source of inspo I forgot. Other simmers! There's so much talent in this community. Don't copy but definitely get inspired by them. When I started my building journey there have been plenty of simmers that inspired me in the possibilities of this game and influenced my style while I was progressing in finding my own.

SOLO / MUTE / PAN
OLGA KOKCHAROVA, LAURENT GÜDEL & GUESTS
18.9.-20.11.2022
SOLO / MUTE / PAN is a collaborative exhibition project that brings together for the first time Olga Kokcharova (*1985, CH / RU, Geneva) and Laurent Güdel (*1984, CH, Biel), two sound artists whose common ground is their work with listening and sound spatialization. Using various recording and amplification techniques, Olga and Laurent auscultated the Kunsthaus building during the hot summer 2022. Their respective approaches consider phonography (the writing of sound through microphones) not only as a documentation process, but also as a performative and musical act.
Using microphones, sensors and measuring devices, the two musicians recorded the electromagnetic radiation emanating from the lighting in the exhibition rooms, from control panels, security systems and the payment terminal. They also recorded the creaking of the parquet, the grumbling of the air conditioning and ventilation system, and the evening silence of the empty offices. The special acoustic of the Salle Poma was activated with the help of feedback techniques, horn loudspeakers, a small radio receiver and two pairs of shoes. Olga and Laurent also practiced soundwalking, recording each other, without making too much noise, as they wandered through the bowels of the building and its immediate surroundings. For example, they crossed the building from the roof to the basement, where the art depository of the Kunsthaus collection is located, via the staircase of the emergency exit. Sometimes they met tenants of the studios, recalcitrant printing devices or Elmo the cat.
Olga and Laurent have developed a sound piece that extends over two floors of the old building. They have assembled the accumulated sound material into a composition that is played on an acousmonium (an orchestra of loudspeakers with different properties) and distributed through the Kunsthaus’s exhibition space. This setup of loudspeaker refers to the field of electroacoustic music while diverting it from its initial purpose. Thus, the two artists operate in the intermediate space between musical composition and sound art.  Their approach contradicts the very idea of museum architecture – which consists of a succession of exhibition spaces – by relying on the inherent property of sound not to care about walls. Here everything spills over, leaks and opens up.
Each visitor is encouraged to build their own path through the sonic environment of the installation, to find their own rhythm, their own places to stop or their ideal listening position. These choices lead to a unique listening experience. Thus, each person becomes a co-creator of the sound composition.
As part of the exhibition, Olga and Laurent are organising four residencies of artists working at the intersection of music and sound art. During a three-day residency at the Kunsthaus, these six guests* work on, intervene in or expand a part of the sound system installed for the exhibition. Each residency finishes with a performance and leaves a noticeable trace in the composition created by Olga and Laurent.
The exhibition will be documented in the form of an audio tape.
