Random Craft Dump!
Over the years there have been so many random and one-off crafts I’ve made: some for a purpose, and some just for fun. Enjoy!
A completely fake Keytar for a film I worked on. I had a budget, but upon realizing how expensive Keytars are, I knew I had to make one. I used an old keyboard and craft foam, painted with acrylic. This was made for a live action Jem and The Holograms film. Here it is on its day of filming:
Next, I made this cheap little Halloween wreath so spruce up my front door. I had a bunch of these cheapo cobwebs but didn’t want to decorate bushes or anything because I know how bad they are for birds. Solution:
Next is a costume I’ve always wanted to do for myself and got to do a super quick version of it for my brother. What a great sport! A friend threw a super fun carnival/circus themed birthday party, and we needed something quick! I was so excited he let me throw this together for him. Maybe one day I’ll be able to do a more in-depth version of it.
I found this kit at a thrift store for 25 cents, so I couldn’t pass it up. It said something so cheesy, I don’t even remember, “Blessed...” something. So I fixed it by making a Handmade’s Tale joke from it. It now proudy sits in my writing nook. I hadn’t done this type of stitching before, and it was super fun.
Last, but not least, and more of a grand finale, is not a craft, but a crafting inspiration. In 2019, fate lined up for me to meet the wonderful and beyond talented Christine McConnell at the Winchester Mystery House, of all places.
If you are not familiar with her, you should be. She is the queen of classy and spooky makers. At least once or twice a year, especially during Halloween and heavy crafting, I rewatch her The Curious Creation of Christine McConnell (Netflix), and always keep up on her current Youtube series. She is so unbelievably skilled, I have learned so much from watching her.
She was there showcasing her absolutely stunning gingerbread house model of the Winchester Mystery House:

Had my first aerial hoop performance last night at Elemental Aerial Studio Showcase. I was a part of our class group routine as Autumn (each of us were a season). Big thank you to our teacher Tiffany for all the support and encouragement!

Various Costumes Dump!
I wanted to show you some older, easyish costumes that I threw together over the years! First, I helped two of my favorite people with some Night Watch costumes from Game of Thrones. Most of this was just pieced together, but I did hand made the sword hilt of Long Claw, and some armor.
Next, in 2010 I recycled and revamped a couture medusa costume I had made for Halloween, in order to have an original design to wear to the Lady Gaga Born This Way Ball. One of my favorite things to do every few years was design and make an original piece for her shows and feel famous for a night. My favorite part of this costume is the scaled front made of iridescent giant sequin.
Below is a very quick costume made for a Carnival themed birthday party long ago. I love teratology and history, and thought a conjoined twin costume with my sorta-sister was a good idea; I’m not sure I’d make that same decision later in life.
Last, and definitely least, is one of the first costumes I ever made as a kid. I was maybe 15 years old here? I really loved the movie he Fisher King’ growing up, and wanted to make a costume inspired by the Red Knight in it. I don’t look back and cringe; rather I look at it and I’m grateful that in a time when dressing up for Halloween wasn’t cool, and DIY with shit at home was DEFINITELY not cool, that I was a horse-of-a-different-color, and had no qualms going against the grain. It was also a platform to learn that I love crafting and costuming, and helped me create a base of skills early.
