"send your kids [dice] to camp" when one of the players has a big damage roll they need a lot of extraneous dice for is my favorite running cross-campaign d20 bit. maybe ever. The mini DIY printing press is done! I don't have any batteries atm so no light effects for me.

The press part needed a bit more pressure to produce a good image on the paper, but other than that I think it works pretty well!

i feel like some artists who like working with text + drawing don't realize that writing letters is also drawing.

words are made up of marks and shapes; text is as much a part of the image as the drawing, even if we classify it differently. you Can write your text in the same style you might use to write a grocery list, but i think it's a missed opportunity...

Just like you can practice to improve your drawing skill and cultivate an art style through referencing various things, you can practice to improve your handwriting-for-art and eventually develop a coherent writing style. the best part is that artistically treated type doesn't need to be "beautiful" or legible, just expressive and tuned to your general artistic goals.

in this way, text is a powerful tool for expressing your creative vision!

So I listen to Check Your Thread, and inspired by the episode about the Winter of Care and Repair, I'm trying to talk more about what I mend and fix.

A couple years ago, I thrifted a small shirt that said "Sorry I'm late. I saw a dog." I cut the text out and whipstitched it onto this navy blue shirt with tiny white polka dots. And I've worn it maybe 5 times, because it comes across as an attitude tee, which I don't like. So, I took the text back off!

I'll probably pass the base shirt along because I don't like it either. I'll recycle the letters for some other undecided project.

Also, the handle on my frying pan has been a ~wiggly boi~ for a while. I finally got out my screwdriver and tightened it back down. So happy that it has an actual screw rather than rivets or some other non-repairable fastener! It was the first thing I looked for (after food-safe-ness) when I went thrifting for pans.

I made this a while ago, but thought I’d show off my DM screen here!

It’s made from a disassembled cardboard box, the outside is painted with acrylics and the inside is lined with black fabric. I also put velcro strips on the inside, so that I can rearrange things instead of permanently sticking them on the screen.

It was originally supposed to be a different design, but then the cardboard started to buckle as I was priming it, and I ended up with kind of a dragonhide texture. Which, to be fair, is cooler than what I originally had in mind.

(also, the little rods are metal weights to keep the screen open)
