"HIS KNOWLEDGE IS MORE THAN EARTH-BASED, THOUGH. HE SPENT YEARS IN SELF-IMPOSED EXILE ON ANOTHER PLANET..."
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on Thaddeus B. Sivana, a.k.a., Captain Marvel/Shazam's greatest antagonist, from the "Justice" (2005-'07) maxi-series published by DC Comics. Artwork by Doug Braithwaite (pencils) & Alex Ross (sketch art/paints).
ORIGIN: "Thaddeus B. Sivana has fought Captain Marvel more often than any of the World's Mightiest Mortal's enemies. Just as the Joker, who mocks death and revels in the suffering and losses of others, is my antithesis, Sivana is opposite of Captain Marvel. While Captain Marvel is a being of magic, Sivana knows only the secrets of science, only what the intelligence of man can discover. He has been widowed twice, and the pain of those losses led to his becoming twisted and embittered against the very humanity he once invented and created for.
His knowledge is more than earth-based, though. He spent years in self-imposed exile on another planet, studying a race of creatures there, becoming adept in the secrets of that world. Perhaps his time there further twisted him into what he is. He has no physical power of strength, but he has developed a means to walk through walls by speaking a scientific formula of sorts.
More magic words, even if they are clothed in science. I wonder if Sivana is even aware how affected he is by forces beyond his control."
-- BATMAN, from Bruce Wayne's Private Files in the Batcomputer (script by Jim Krueger & Alex Ross)

Venus Sivana and her emissary, Mr. Mind
God-Empress of her self-named planet in its Mystical Aspect, Venus was an ally to Diana and the Amazons until meeting and falling in love with a human: Doctor Thaddeus Bodog Sivana, long time foe of Shazam's Champion, The Captain. Venusians became recurring foes of the Shazam siblings, driving a wedge between not only Venus and Wonder Woman, but between Venus and Aphrodite, her Earthly manifestation and anchor to physical reality, an anchor unmoored in an act of desperation. While Venus is as immortal and indestructible as any God-Entity, her exile into purely mystical existence embittered her human husband even further, prompting Sivana to begin a war on magic that would change the balance between science and magic forever.
Mr. Mind, stranded in physical reality, abandoned Sivana in pursuit of his own path home, a pursuit with its own dire consequences for the mystical multiverse...

A King Kong sonorama (picture storybook with accompanying record with narration and sound effects) based on the Rankin-Bass cartoon from the 1960s. King Kong Escapes (1967), which Rankin-Bass co-produced with Toho, ws loosely based on the same cartoon.
The bald guy standing in the boat is the series' main bad guy, Doctor Who (no, not THAT guy), even though here he looks more like Dr. Thaddeus Bodog Sivana.

"DOCTOR THADDEUS BODOG SIVANA"
A whiskey glass flies out of his office, crashing against the wall to the right of Kent’s head and splashing the paint with alcohol.
“IT WASN’T ME THIS TIME,” he roars. “I’VE BEEN HOME ALL NIGHT!”
Oh, yes. He’s seen the news.

Falling Thunder
As the boy fell, he wondered if Superman would be proud of him.
He fell through the clouds, lighting crashing all around him, the smell of electricity and ozone filling his nose. He tasted blood. His own.
He could see the lights of the city through a hole in the clouds below him, spread out across both banks of the river. Fawcett City, sprawling gently across his field of vision, rising up to welcome him. It didn't seem to be getting any closer, but he knew that was an illusion. He knew he was falling.
Above him, he saw the giant robot, battered and smashed with the imprints of his fist in its body. No, not a robot--a mech. A giant warsuit, built to kill him. The chair was empty, the scientist having teleported away less than a minute ago.
The mech WAS going to kill him. Not in the expected way, though. With its massive metal body just above him, all the electricity was drawn to it, instead of his own body. He couldn't call the lightning to himself. The power that made him the mightiest of mortals, that allowed him to stand amongst the gods, was beyond his reach.
All he could hear was the buffeting sound of winds crashing against his ears. Idly, he wondered if he would break the sound barrier. Would he hear the sonic boom, when it came? Would he feel it?
Batman could have done it better, he thought. Superman as well. He wished he could have gotten the mech suit clear of the city first; he hoped the space below them had been evacuated. He could have done this better. He could have saved more.
Eleven-year-old Billy Batson was going to die, and he felt he was ready for that. He closed his eyes, settling in to listen to the whistling of the wind past his ears, waiting for the impact of the ground.
The sonic boom was farther away than he had expected, and he hadn't felt it. He opened his eyes to find the mech was gone--just clouds. Had he turned? Was he still looking at the same place? He turned, and there was the city. He looked up, and the mech was gone. Vanished.
The wind stopped. Suddenly, he was looking at a field of blue, a pair of strong limbs wrapped around his back.
"You okay there, Captain?" said the familiar voice of Superman.
Billy's eyes traveled up to the face he knew so well, the face that adorned the posters across the walls of his room. And, suddenly, he realized that he was alive.
He gasped.
"I was going to die," he sobbed. "I was so sure I was going to die."
Superman hugged him close. "You're okay, Billy," he said. "You're alive. We look after our own."
Billy cried into Superman's chest.
"You can call us if you need us, you know," Superman murmured. "Justice League watches each other's backs."
"I didn't want to be a bother..." Billy said.
"Don't worry about me," Superman said. "Superman is always on call. You need me, I'm there." He looked down at the city below them. "You got the mech clear of urban areas before you started fighting? That's good work."
"Thanks," Billy said. He pushed himself away from Superman's chest. "SHAZAM!" he screamed, and in an instant, lightning enveloped his body, and eleven-year-old Billy Batson was replaced with the muscular, semi-adult form of Captain Marvel.
"You okay on your own?" Superman said.
"Yeah," Marvel replied. "I can handle the cleanup."
"Okay," Superman said with a jaunty salute. "I'm proud of you." He blurred, and then was gone.
Captain Marvel hung in the air above Fawcett City, grinning widely. He'd won, he'd survived. Superman was proud of him.
It had been a good day.

365 DC Comics Paper Cut-Out Villains - One Villain, Every Day, All Year…
April 30th - Doctor Sivana

Thaddeus Bodog Sivana had been one of the greatest scientific minds of his era. Unfortunately, his ideas and inventions were so outré and ahead of their time that he ended up a laughing stock, mocked by his peers as some sort of ‘mad scientist.’ Enraged, Sivana built a rocket and took his whole family to live on one of the moons of Venus.  While off world, Dr. Sivana refined his skills and cultivated schemes to dominate mankind and finally receive the respect and acclaim he felt he deserved. Savanna’s ultimate return coincided with Billy Batson’s transformation into Shazam’s campion, Captain Marvel. Captain Marvel thwarted Sivana’s initial scheme, thus beginning a longstanding rivalry between the two; a rivalry that would see Sivana going to great extremes trying to devise ways of ridding himself of his much hated nemesis (whom he not-so-lovingly referred to as ‘The Big Red Cheese’). Dr. Sivana helped to form the Monster Society of Evil and has also been a member of the Injustice Society, The Fearsome Five and The Secret Society of Super Villains.  The villain enraged in battles against not only Captain Marvel but also Superman, The Justice League and the JSA. Actor Mark Strong portrayed Dr. Sivana in the Shazam movie. The villain first appeared in Whiz Comics #2 (1939).

Shazam! - trailer vs comics
The Wizard and Dr. Sivana seem to be based more heavily on the New 52 versions than the classic ones, however, so here are second comparisons for them:
