As he pulled up to the next window, Mark handed Peter his card, and when Peter stuck his hand out to grab it, Mark noticed the cuts on his arms. they were red and puffy, some still fresh. Mark winced at the sight, he never wanted to see Peter hurt like that. “why are you cutting those flowers? I know how it feels to do that… please stop… for me..?” Mark looked up at Peter as he said it, who’d begun to cry. His sorrow sobs made Marks heart start to thaw. “I lost everything” Strahm said, “my job, my voice, my diginity, my partner…, even my Grindr account is dry as hell.” He started to grab onto his Mcdonalds uniform, he felt the visor become tight, he felt trapped, alone.. “You’re not alone, Peter, I’m here for you.” Mark started to climb out the window of his car, but his fat stomach got stuck. He wanted to climb inside the Mcdonalds and give Strahm a hug. Everyone always told him he gave great hugs. Lawrence, who was also working at Mcdonalds since Allison took the house, the kid, the car, and even sold his fursuit, he was left with nothing. Tears started to form as he could no longer contain his chuckles. “Do you still want those big macs and shit?” Strahm asked Hoffman. “Yes, can i get a little help here?” Hoffman remarked. “Yeah i’m coming.” Peter came outside, and started pushing the fat rolls back into Marks subaru. Once he was back in, Hoffman invited Strahm to sit with him. “Why do you do such a thing to yourself..” Mark asked. “i-i feel like i deserve it sometimes…” Strahm replied. “all you deserve is the world, baby girl.” Marks hands started to caress his 44 year old thighs, there was something so sexually appealing about this middle-aged man. Doctor Elise Ep. 5

Nuuuuuu I'm finally caught up with Doctor Elise.... My potato chips....

This was a very fun (Mary Sue (positive)) Girl Boss episode, with Elise taking proud ownership of what she did despite being disbelieved, and keeping things professional between her and her patient.

This Prince y'all. He don't know shit about romance. He's never had the inclination to even bother with romance before, and watching his little baby-deer-leg-like attempts is very very cute. It's very fun to be watching this and the BL/yaoi Cherry Magic at the same time because man they are two sides of the same coin in playing with tropes and dealing with power imbalance in romance.

THIS show could be a yaoi if it WASN'T A COWARD.

I am enjoying this show SO MUCH because I (am old) enjoyed watching Dr. House, Scrubs, Grey's Anatomy, and the autopsy/sciencey bits in CSI:LV and NCIS (with Abby!)

Capybara is enjoying this because he is a connoisseur of well researched fanfiction, with Sick Fic being one of his main staples. He has learned to recognize certain illnesses because some of his favorite authors do a shit ton of research on what to do to their whumpees darlings, and those well researched stories don't go with boring reasons for why certain symptoms are appearing, but more realistic diagnostics.

He was very excited at guessing what was wrong with each patient in these episode and it was fun to watch him get excited about it.

Spoilers Under the Cut

Elise defending and explaining her report about the Splenectomy was funny because... her hand writing was such an issue, but despite all the little hearts and the poor writing that is OBVIOUSLY not Dr. Graham, they still have trouble believing it's hers until she can walk them through the report.

MORE HAND WAVING WITH THE "I turned this surgery over and over in my head" (more like she already did a successful one with the Dead Mom Hair lady) Its just barely believable, but it marks her as a literal genius, and actually makes for a good story if she WAS an actual medical genius.

HMM I WONDER WHY THE TEST IS GOING TO BE HARDER THIS YEAR??? Fuck all the other students, we wanna make this lady fail so she can be queen! But she has 3 doctor reccs to be able to take the medical exam!

And another doctor immediately tries to steal her with NO consideration for the Head of the Hospital and Head of Surgery being RIGHT THERE IN THE ROOM WITH THEM. No subtly this man, which makes sense if he CANT EVEN RECOGNIZE ONE OF HIS REGULAR PATIENTS!!!! FAILURE.

This No-Thoughts-Head-Empty Just Having A Good Time face is so funny to me.

Then we get some more reminiscent of the backstory, and I'm okay with this being a little Mary Sue -ish type tragic backstory cause she kinda deserved it, admits she deserved it, and is trying to make amends (because she wasn't THAT evil of a villainess, just an ignorant and spoiled rich kid).

But the Prince finally admitted something was wrong with himself and goes to the clinic to get himself checked out by Elise/Rose while he is in his Ron disguise. He finds her pulling ivy off the buildings, and MAN the initial angle on this made it look like she was two stories up (so I started chanting fall, fall, fall so that you can get caught).

but no, she's on a fucking step stool lmao.

We DO get a classic "Staring at each other from across the way as the wind blows and their eyes meet and they have Thoughts."

She then proceeds to diagnose him and Capybara started chanting "Hyper thyroidism? Hyperthyroidism." as each symptom and question is answered

and dammit he was RIGHT!!!

AND OH. I WAS WRONG. YES. GOOD.

THIS SHOW IS A YAOI AND ELISE IS THE SEME.

LOOK AT THIS BLUSHING MESS OF AN UKE. She's taking your PULSE, sir, not your CLOTHES OFF.

And he keeps coming back for more lmao. And is SO UPSET when the two months are up. But is probably like HELL YES I GET TO MARRY THIS LADY. maybe. the thought probably hasn't occured to him actually now that I think about it...

Until he goes to her BROTHER for advice on what to get her, and despite being the grumpy big bro IS SO ACCURATE IN HIS ADVICE. But the Prince thinks he knows best (with ZERO experience, like, what did you even ask him for then?) and gets her a shiny thing instead and fails.

It's all worth it though cause Babygirlboy prince smiles in the end!

Animation Night 56: KyoAni, 2!

It’s been almost a year since we last visited the wonderful Kyoto Animation - last seen on Animation Night 13. I ran down the history of the studio in the last post, so I’ll keep things short here: Kyoto Animation are an anime studio based out in (surprise surprise) Uji, Kyoto, forming a kind of self-contained anime ecosystem with their own school and in-house inbetweeners.

If you don’t know them? On the film side, they are known for meticulous and charming character animation, strong cinematography, and many long running moe series like K-on! and Hibike! Euphonium, emotional character dramas like Violet Evergarden, 4koma adaptations like Lucky Star and Nichijou, and yaoi-adjacent sports anime like Free!. They’re also, as we saw last time, the home of renowned directors like Naoko Yamada, whose subtle, film-influenced directing style has proven very influential.

In the anime industry, they have a different kind of glowing reputation, as one of the best places to work in an otherwise extremely life-hostile industry. (Costs of living being much less in Kyoto than Tokyo helps, but they seem to have a great culture of valuing their douga artists, avoiding overwork, and generally treating their people well.) This along with their origins has meant that while anime has been steadily getting less dreadfully male-skewed over the years, KyoAni is way ahead of the curve, especially in senior positions like direction.

tl;dr? kyoani based!

So what’s the plan for tonight? Watching KyoAni works on Animation Night is a bit of a tricky puzzle, since the majority of their films are side stories or sequels to one of their one- or two-cour series. Watching them without that context is generally said to be viable - they’re not totally opaque - but lacking the emotional depth you get when you taken five or six hours to get to really know the characters. So what do you do?

I’m going to throw those fan cautions to the wind and try to jump in anyway. So tonight I’m essentially going to try and give us a taster of some KyoAni series: a sampling of episodes from their TV shows, and then the corresponding movies. The series in question are going to be K-On! and Violet Evergarden. So what are these about?

K-on! we saw a couple episodes of last year, but since it’s been a while, let’s quickly recap. It is perhaps the quintessential ‘cute girls doing cute things’ anime, and also (iirc) where Naoko Yamada got her start as a director, making a mark with distinctive storyboards in her episodes. The premise is pretty standard ‘club anime’: our protagonist joins a struggling music club, which unexpectedly leads to them forming quite a successful band. Mostly it’s slice of life in a school setting; a kind of nostalgia for a somewhat idealised childhood.

The K-on movie sees the girls come to... where I live, actually! They go to London, and it seems KyoAni’s animators really went to some extremes to research the setting, with uncannily accurate depictions of the London Underground and other landmarks. (Apparently it heavily features a café, which has since become very popular with fans of the show). It probably won’t land quite as well if, like me, you don’t really know the K-on girls from having seen the show, but I imagine it will nevertheless prove deeply charming.

Violet Evergarden is a slightly tricker one to explain; I’m going to do my best but be aware I may get some details substantially wrong. Set in a world recovering from a brutal WWI-like war, it tells the story of an ex-soldier named Violet, who is employed as an ‘auto memory doll’, which is to say, a ghostwriter. Over the course of the series, as Violet gradually learns to return to society and face her massive amounts of PTSD, she meets a series of characters and learns about their own equally tragic stories. By all accounts, it is extremely moving. Keep tissues to hand!

The movie I plan to watch tonight is called Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll, and it is a side story taking place about halfway through the series. Generally speaking, fans of the show recommend watching the full series to the end first, but since we do not really have time to do that, I’m going to try and squeeze in just enough episodes to cover the major character turn prior to the events of the film. Perhaps in a future Animation Night we could then deliver the second half and the sequel movie? Rather depends how this night goes. If we end up watching just part of Evergarden, and not having time for the film, so be it!

Steven Universe: The Fantastic Mutants chapter 5: Never Again (originally posted on November 16, 2020)

AN: Good to see you all again my dear readers! How have things been? Am I being too intrusive? Well, doesn't matter! It's good to be back in business after a few weeks, so let's just cut to the chase, shall we?

"So how much of this show is actual camping?" HYDRA Bob asked Peridot as they, along with Deadpool & Lapis, watched Camp Pining Hearts together at the X-Mansion while surrounded by massive amounts of snack foods and garbage. "A fair bit, but pretty much everyone comes for the romance," Peridot answered. "Yeah," Wade stated. "like your crippling yaoi addiction."

"What is yah-oy?" Lapis asked while mispronouncing this new word just as Pearl came in with a broom. "You really should learn how to pick up after yourselves as guests." The Gem grumbled while sweeping up crumbs off the carpet. "Hey, wise up Pearl, I'm basically an honorary member!" Deadpool remarked. "Hey, Flat-Top, gimme a refill on my coke here!"

"And you should also treat the people housing you like friends, not your servants." Colossus reminded them, just as disgruntled as Pearl, while he gave the Merc with a Mouth another bottle of pop when suddenly, Xavier came in. "Ah, Professor! Would you be so kind as to help us teach Wade here some manners?"

"It's alright, Piotr." Xavier calmed the metal mutant down. "Although Mr. Wilson here can be a bit of a nuisance, we do need all the help we can get to rescue Steven and Kitty."

"Thanks for the save Cap'n." Wade grinned at the aged mutant when someone knocked at the window. "Hey, anyone in there?!" the voice of Spider-Man called from outside, latching upside down onto the glass. "Peter!" Pearl exclaimed. "Long time no see. How are the other Avengers doing?"

"The big six are off in space right now, and the reserves are holding down the fort for now." The web-slinger answered as he opened the window and leaped through it. "When your message reached us, I was the first to take it and brought along a few pals who might be useful."

As Peter finished talking, a silver and blue blur burst through the front doors, stopping to reveal itself as Quicksilver. "Pietro, good to see you!" Colossus exclaimed. "Must mean Wanda isn't too far behind, da?"

"You are correct." Scarlet Witch answered as she followed her brother. "Hello again Crystal Gems." She greeted the Gems. "Hello to you and Pietro too, Wanda," Garnet replied as she stepped into the room. "It certainly has been a while since Thanos. I hope you both are well."

"Oh, never better Garney!" Quicksilver responded as he sat down between Peridot & Lapis to watch Camp Pining Hearts with them. "Ooh, I love this show! I always felt Pierre & Percy have really good chemistry."

"Thank you for agreeing with me good sir." Peridot added pridefully. "Oh, quit with the shit already!" Wade interjected crossly. "No one ever talks about Pierre and Paulette!"

"You take that back, you crimson clod." Peridot snarled threateningly at the mercenary and soon, an intense shipping debate between the two began. "Oh, this could take a long while." Pearl sighed in exhaustion.

"I just watch for all the crazy shenanigans these campers get up to." Spider-Man gave his opinion while snatching some snicker-doodles from the ottoman.

"Come on, work!" Kitty groaned in frustration as she continuously tried and failed to break her and Steven from their imprisonment without using her mutant powers. "If only I could find a way to break this collar, then we'd get outta here easier."

"Why don't I give it a shot?" Steven suggested, deciding to use his shield to cut the bars apart. However, that failed as well. "It's hopeless. If I didn't come, then maybe we wouldn't be stuck here."

"Hey, don't beat yourself up like that Steven." Kitty comforted her fellow mutant. "I'm sure the Gems are already on their way to save us, so try and keep your chin up until then." She implored Steven, but he remained downtrodden. "Let's face it; we're here because of my mom."

"Oh, mother issues?" Kitty realized. "I get it. That's perfectly normal. But you can't always let the sins of the parent bring you down." She assured him. "Yeah, sins like taking part in universal genocide before realizing that wasn't good and instead doing things far worse than that." Steven grumbled, much to her surprise. "Whoa okay, didn't see that coming!" Kitty exclaimed. "Far worse how? Did she actually murder someone?"

"She deliberately left tons of Gems and other races to die for her just because she was bored of being Pink Diamond, let two of my friends to be imprisoned for thousands of years, forced Gems who cared for her to suffer from her faked death and who knows what else!" Steven complained. "And then there was that whole thing with Magneto."

As if on cue, the aforementioned leader of the Brotherhood of Mutants stepped into the brig to interrogate them. "I see you've been making yourselves at home while you could." He declared before grabbing Steven by the shirt collar through the cell bars. "Tell me boy, why do you have her gemstone? Was it passed down to you?"

"As a matter of fact, yes." Steven answered. "When I was born, my mom died to give birth to me, and I got her gemstone and all her powers as a result. She also left me with all her baggage from ages ago, including when she was once a member of the Great Diamond Authority."

"Great Diamond Authority?" Magneto wondered, and Kitty seemed just as confused. "Yeah, I have to agree. There are more Diamonds out there?"

"That's not important right now," Steven said before Magneto set him down. "Still, why go after me in particular? We're both mutants. We should be on the same side!"

"You already know about how Rose abandoned me at Auschwitz, but the Gems only told you half the story," Erik revealed, turning away from Steven & Kitty in the process. "My part of this tale is far more complex than you realize. Like many a Jew during the war, I was prosecuted by the Nazis for my religion and sentenced to death. But I was a special case."

Heavy rain poured upon Poland in 1944 as a large group of imprisoned Jews marched sorrowfully through Auschwitz, their world nothing but drab colors aside from the bright yellow Star of David on their clothes signifying their religion. All around them, more of their people were forced to perform possibly lethal jobs for their superiors and be treated horribly should they fail to work or try to resist.

One young man in particular named Erik Lehnsherr watched just as miserably as his fellow Jews and began to notice that many of the other prisoners had brands on their arms. As soldiers began coldly leading their prisoners away from the group, Erik's parents Edie & Jacob were forcefully separated like the rest from their son, with Edie being particularly hysterical about having to leave her child.

Erik raced after his parents in an effort to see them one last time, but the gates closed before he could get a chance, and another Nazi grabbed the boy to keep him under control. However, something miraculous happened. When Erik fruitlessly reached out towards the gate, it began bending towards him. Another Nazi aided his fellow soldier in detaining the boy, and two more raced towards him as the fence began twisting more and more.

Erik's mutant powers awakened that day as the gates were ripped open with a mere stretch of his hand, but he was quickly stopped with the butt of a gun to his head from a fifth soldier. "Bring ihn zu Dr. Schmidt." that soldier commanded his subordinates. The four Nazis nodded and dragged the unconscious boy away, to where his destiny would soon be realized.

"And that's where you first met his mom, right?" Kitty asked her captor. "Yeah, I don't think we need to hear how she ditched you again."

"As I stated, the story is much deeper than that," Magneto said. "Allow me to continue."

Soon, HYDRA had come to assist the Nazis in stopping the Howling Commandos and the Crystal Gems from instigating the Auschwitz breakout. As Rose began fighting off soldiers, she began counting off the fleeing Jews. "Let me see how many we got," Rose muttered while trying to do a headcount. "Agh, there's too many of them! I can barely keep count when I'm surrounded like this!"

"Less than a million!" Garnet counted for her leader with her future vision. "However, there are still a few that we were too late to save, namely the Lehnsherr family. Klaus Schmidt is holding their son Erik."

"Klaus?" Rose soon came to a realization. "That was the boy in the office! I have to go ba-" Before Rose could finish, a HYDRA enforcer took advantage of her letting her guard down and fired with an anti-Gem weapon, poofing her form.

"Rose!" Pearl exclaimed while rushing to the deactivated gem lying on the ground. While Captain America covered for them with his shield, the Gems made a hasty retreat. "But what about those other Jews?!" Amethyst exclaimed. "A few prisoners should take this from here." Garnet answered, just as the Sonderkommando charged at their captors with guns, knives, axes, and grenades.

Inside the building where Klaus Schmidt was stationed, the mutant Jew slithered around the hall to avoid being caught again. Nazis raced outside to combat without once taking notice of the boy making his escape. Taking a moment to peek outside the window, he noticed the Gems escaping the concentration camp and furrowed his brow angrily. "Sie haben mich verlassen."

As the warfare continued, Erik quietly made his getaway with his newly awakened mutant powers and used a wrecked chain fence to fly himself away from Auschwitz.

Many years later in 1963, Magneto was holding a demonstration in New York to make a speech about the superiority of mutants when she showed up again. Rose Quartz had decided to show her face to him again after leaving him to rot all those years ago in Auschwitz, and only now, she shows up with an excuse to try and make peace.

"You can try to rope yourself into my good graces all you want Gems," he growled, preparing to fight the Crystal Gems. "But nothing can ever change the past!"

Ripping a nearby water tower off its supports, Erik prepared to smash it on top of Rose, Garnet & Pearl, but then came a loud shriek coming from the Irish mutant Sean Cassidy, aka Banshee. "Top o' the mornin' to you ladies!" Banshee exclaimed and let out another scream that brought the master of magnetism to the ground. "Now Neal!"

"I got you!" the Indian pyrokinetic Neal Shaara, or Thunderbird to his teammates, boomed while turning his body into plasma and landing a few hits on Magneto, but the German fought back by expanding a force-field that pushed him back. "Longshot, Angel, Mimic, it's all you now!"

"You got it!" Longshot replied while standing on a rooftop with Mimic and Angel Salvadore and preparing to throw a large knife at Magneto. "Just got one shot at this." He muttered to himself just as Amethyst hopped up behind him. "Hey, what you guys doing?" she asked the three mutants, catching Longshot off-guard. "Do you mind squirt?!" Longshot barked, but then he noticed her gem. "Say, you wouldn't happen to know those three, right?"

"We can discuss it later!" Angel said while sprouting fly-like wings and flying off. "Hey, wait for me!" Mimic exclaimed, copying his teammate's power by growing insect wings of his own and soaring after her.

"You guys wouldn't happen to be like ol' Maggy over there?" Amethyst continued asking Longshot, who harshly shushed her while trying to keep his concentration. "Okay, sheesh!"

"Now Longshot!" Banshee exclaimed as he let out a loud shriek at Magneto to knock him off-balance, allowing Longshot to fling his knife at the evil mutant. But Erik stopped the blade before it could reach his face with his powers and threw it right at Pearl with a wicked grin.

"Pearl, no!" Rose cried out as she dove in front of her confidant, letting the knife stab her instead, causing her to ultimately poof and retreat into her gem.

"Rose!" the remaining Gems shouted, racing to protect their leader's inactive gemstone from Magneto. "Well, that should do nicely for now." He snidely muttered. "But know this Crystal Gems, we shall meet again someday soon. Even if we have to wait years to do so!"

With that, Magneto zoomed off into the sky and left the Crystal Gems & the X-Men below. "So, sorry about letting your boss end up like this." Longshot nervously apologized. "That was my knife he threw at her after all."

"It's alright. Rose will recover soon." Garnet assured the mutant. "By the way, I didn't get your name."

"Call me Longshot, leader of the X-Men!" Longshot proudly replied. "These are my teammates; Banshee, Mimic, Angel Salvadore, and Thunderbird. We're all mutants."

"It is a pleasure to meet you." Thunderbird greeted, extending a hand to Pearl. "Mutants? I think I remember meeting one, centuries ago." Pearl replied, shaking Neal's hand. "You wouldn't happen to know anyone named En Sabah Nur?"

This revelation caused the X-Men to gasp in shock. "Wait, you met Apocalypse?!" Mimic cried. "Let me guess, you guys know him as a real bad guy?" Amethyst quipped. "Yeah, he's about yay tall, superiority complex, total Darwinist." Angel replied. "Come along. We can tell you more about him."

"And maybe we'll introduce you to the professor too." Banshee added happily. "We'd be glad to meet your professor." Pearl agreed, and Garnet & Amethyst nodded as well.

"So that's how the Gems met Xavier!" Steven realized. "But how come you remember that last bit happening? You left after poofing Rose."

"Don't think about it." Magneto assured him. "And now that I have you in our clutches, watching Doctor Doom experiment on you will be so satisfying."

"But still, you can't just vent your vengeance on a kid!" Kitty exclaimed.

"Yeah, this isn't what Xavier would want!" Steven replied, forcing Magneto to drop his stoic façade. "He knows you can be better than this, barring the terrorism. You're both on the same wavelength when it comes to protecting mutants, but kidnapping one of your own for your own sake is just wrong!"

"Y'know, that does seem like something Charles would say. Though he would've said it better." Magneto relented, pressing a button on the cell to let Steven and Kitty out. "Fight them off while you still can children. I shall take the blame myself."

"Okay Steven, let's get outta here!" Kitty declared excitedly. "And no matter what happens, I got your back!"

"Actually Kit, I think I got yours." Steven replied, just as another door opened, and Mystique stepped into the brig. "Erik! Why have you let the prisoners out?" she asked Magneto. "It was the boy who convinced me." Erik revealed. "As it turns out, he's quite good at turning people to his side."

"Well, you're too late child." Mystique said to Steven. "We have finally landed in Latveria."

The Crystal Gems, X-Men, Fantastic Four, X-Force, Spider-Man, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver all marched to the Blackbird, ready to go out to Latveria and save Steven & Kitty. Human Torch and Cyclops were in charge of piloting the plane while Xavier planted his wheelchair in the back.

"So tell us what we're in for Reed." Garnet asked Mister Fantastic, who gave a sharp sigh of regret. "You should know by now that Doctor Doom is our family's greatest adversary. Intelligence on par with my own, mastery of the mystic arts, psionic abilities, the works." Reed explained. "But what I'm sure you probably don't know yet was that we knew Doom long before he turned out like this."

"Victor, have you gone mad?!" a younger Reed yelled at his college classmate Victor, who was standing in front of a large machine generating an unstable portal. "This machine is highly unstable and could explode at any moment!"

"I do not care what it takes, Richards!" the man who would be king of Latveria cried as the machine was on the verge of self-destructing. "This is the only way I can see my mother again!"

"Hey Stretch, we got everyone outta here!" Ben Grimm, back then a normal human being instead of a large rock creature, called for his classmate while he, Johnny and Sue burst into the laboratory. "You gotta come with us!"

"No Reed, we can see our mothers again, together!" Doom tried convincing his rival. Reed hesitated for a moment, weighing his options between escaping with his friends or getting to see his late mother Evelyn again. But as he made his decision, he turned away from Victor. "I'm sorry Vic. But I've moved on."

"How dare you?!" Victor screeched, while his four contemporaries fled the scene. "Don't you dare run away! We could've been something more!" Just then, the portal machine has just about reached its boiling point, and caused the lab to explode with Doom inside. The last thing he said before the room collapsed on him was a scream of "RIIIIIIIIICHAAAAAAAARDS!"

"Never saw him again after that incident. Ol' Iron Mask got expelled, then he just vanished offa the face of the planet." Ben regaled in the present day. "That is until he re-emerged as some young upstart billionaire named Victor Domashev, who funded the space flight that made us into the Four we are today."

"Hey guys, less backstory, more blasting off!" Amethyst snapped her fingers. "Pretty sure Steven might be on his way to being dissected by now!"

"Yeah, and a certain author friend of ours wants to get this out as quickly as possible." Deadpool agreed, his medium-aware comment inciting odd stares from the others. "Can we move onto the next scene already?!"

As Mystique had declared, Steven was now in the European country of Latveria, famously ruled by the Fantastic Four's arch-nemesis Victor von Doom. He and Kitty were led through the aesthetically medieval capital city Doomstadt, where its citizens whispered in German, Hungarian and an unknown third language reminiscent of the latter dialect.

"Victor, we have brought the child. And an unwanted guest." Mystique announced in front of Doom's castle as they crossed the drawbridge. The castle was guarded by numerous robot soldiers that bore Doom's face, all of them giving Steven cold and unfeeling glares as he was finally brought before the man who's face the robots bore.

"Steven Universe." Doctor Doom boomed, resting on his throne while the boy was handcuffed in front of him. "I have heard much about you these past few months child. Erik, I must commend you for getting the job done, although I've heard of your possible betrayal and won't tolerate it." Then Doom turned to Mystique. "Thank you Ms. Darkholme for alerting me of this before you arrived.

"You are most kind Doctor." Mystique thanked him with a bow. "We hope you return your end of the bargain and grant us mutants sanctuary in Latveria."

"Raven, you must listen!" Magneto cried to his second in command. "This boy calls himself a mutant, just like us! We can't just let Victor experiment on him like this. What if he has something else planned?!"

"SILENCE!" the king of Latveria roared. "It seems this child has made you soft Mr. Lehnsherr. No matter." He rose from his throne and stepped towards Steven & Kitty to give them a good look. "He shall become useful to me soon. And as for the girl, take her away."

"Yes your Highness." Mystique complied, snapping her fingers to have Juggernaut take Kitty away.

"Hey, put me down!" Kitty hissed, struggling to break free from the massive mutant's hands, which was easier said than done since her powers were still restrained. "Don't worry Steven, I'll find a way to save you!"

"Ah shaddup!" Juggernaut groaned loudly, stuffing a big finger inside the smaller girl's mouth to keep her quiet when Mystique put a hand on his bicep. "And what do you want Bluey?"

"It's about Erik. We may resort to terrorism to fight for mutant rights, but I think allowing a child to be experimented on may be going a bit too far." Raven whispered to Cain while they moved farther away from Doom. "Besides, he is a mutant much like us."

"So I've heard." The Juggernaut muttered. "But shouldn't he count more as an alien because his momma was one?"

When the Brotherhood mutants left the throne room, Steven was left all alone with Magneto and Doom. "What do you want with me Doom?" Steven asked the king. "Was it really necessary to have the Brotherhood kidnap me when you could've had your robots do it?"

"Why I couldn't have just sent my Doombots doesn't matter." Doom declared. "But what does matter is what I want to do to you. You see, you're special Steven, as you probably know. A being who's a mixture of human and alien DNA, and that alien DNA might prove very important to me." He explained to Steven. "I wish to use those genes for my own ends. Perhaps make an army of similar beings, or perhaps become part-Gem myself to gain ultimate power! Which is why I chose you in particular."

"Doctor, an invading ship is approaching Doomstadt." A Doombot announced as it walked into the throne room. "Shall we send out the reinforcements you selected?"

"You may, #1961." Doom replied, pressing a few buttons on his arms that opened a door, and behind it were four supervillains.

Trapster, a man in goggles with a container of glue-like substance on his back, attached to a hose with a gun at the end.

Mole Man, a deformed midget in a green suit with a blue visor who was holding a staff in his hand.

The Puppet Master, a bald, dark-skinned man accompanied by a pair of human-sized marionettes in the shape of the Human Torch and the Thing, that he controlled with a special remote.

And the Wizard, a purple armor-wearing supergenius who floated in the air with special anti-gravity discs.

"Frightful Four, it seems we have some uninvited guests." Doom revealed to the four villains. "I insist you deal with them at once, while I make my little guest here at home."

"Yes Doctor." The Frightful Four said in unison, then the marched out of the throne room to battle. Once again Steven was alone in the throne room with Victor & Erik, and the former was all too eager to get things started.

"Now then, shall we begin testing?" Doom asked Steven maliciously, and Steven replied with a very nervous gulp.

After three months of work, it's finally done! We're getting close to the end of this guys, and I couldn't be more excited. But for now, I think I'm gonna take a little break to focus on college stuff for a bit, and I'll be back soon with not just a new chapter, but also a brand spankin' new Steven Universe tale I've had on the brain for a while. It's an AU rewrite of Steven Universe Future aptly named Steven Universe: Alternate Future. Ok, so maybe the key thing that pisses me off is that either way you dice it, the whole "evil Dirk" bullshit is either the distortion of a writer with a noted history of fanfics distorting characters into their most cynical form if not outright mischaracterizing them for an abuser/victim dynamic, or its commentary about an author who lets their own soapboxing overtake the willing suspension of disbelief in the characters' voices and the fabric of the world, rather than anything the character showed signs of being in the actual text. And if you're going to go "but timeskip! People change!" that's a hack move that Homestuck became far too dependent on in its later run, especially after the retcon, that cons the reader into doing the writer's job in order to try and resolve the cognitive dissonance of, say, a character who *actively did not want* to be what he's just suddenly become, and who's showing a level and flavor of asshole he never was.

Also, having a gay character, who a ton of young readers have identified with for years, suddenly turn bigoted alt-right-in-all-but-name just to make SURE you know he's the bad guy? Idk, that just strikes me as an asshole move. One of several asshole moves, like never addressing how the actions of one or several other characters contributed to his feeling guilty, especially about his sexuality when he's the one gay character whose orientation is directly discussed in the story proper, or how the character who can be reasonably assumed to have the a large hand in contributing to that guilt is never held to account, but instead victimized by Dirk with out-of-the-wild-blue-nowhere transphobic horseshit in the epilogue. In fact, would it be going out on a limb here to say that entire plot point seem to exist *only* for the sake of said out-of-character transphobic horseshit?

Sorry, I was about to say "but this is a whole different rant" but like, no, actually, this pisses me off. It *really* pisses me off how *badly* Dirk gets treated as the one prominent homosexual male character, and it has always pissed me off.

But no, really, the biggest thing pissing me off in the "oh this isn't rational to feel this way, actually, fuck it, I don't care if this is rational, these feelings aren't going away and this shit is PERSONAL now" way, is how most of what makes its way to my dash about Dirk since the epilogues dropped just comes off as uncritical about this. That even in trying to "fix" the damage done, it still tacitly admits there may be some validity to it, instead of staring it down and asking "and what the hell is your justification for that, outside of 'Hussie said so'?"

And let me take a moment to indulge in my neurotic impulse to hedge my own words and say, fine, ok, you want to explore evil!Dirk? Cool, your prerogative, we clearly find this character close to our hearts for very different reasons, whatever. But I don't and never want to see it and now it's everywhere, and people aren't taking to say, fascist Jane with the same gusto as they do to drag my favorite character, whose problems and insecurities are so close to my own he's the first work of fiction I've cried for for since childhood, through the mud.

Oh, and is it worse because this is basically just the same "Dirk is a monster" bullshit I've been fighting since the Great DirkJake Tag Discourse of 2014? Yes. Yes it is. I really do believe that Evil!Dirk - not "he has flaws as a person that result in toxic behavior", not "his actions have resulted in tangible harm and that needs to be addressed", but outright malicious intent or at least such utter disregard for the people he loves that intent is an automatic moot point - in other words, the ugly caricature being paraded around in the epilogues under the fig leaf of authorial approval, alongside the ugly caricatures of Jade and Jane, who only further expose the whole farce - in all its incarnations is and always has been an outright mischaracterization that only holds water if you push for deliberating interpreting the text in the most negative way. And I've spent *years* arguing with myself in my own head because fandom bullshit has convinced me that the only way I can hold an opinion and have a right to speak it is if I can have an airtight argument for my stance, like it's some fucking debate club, or something. And I am done. Dirk is not a monster, never was, and I am *done* screaming at myself in my own head instead of speaking out loud because "oh no, what if I'm wrong on the internet? What if randos online think I'm some dumb yaoi fangirl who's doing an abuse apologism?" Who cares? I know what I fucking read. I know the character that I saw.

You know what happens when you grow up isolated and don't have that first great "I wasn't fully cognizant of the fact that other people have thoughts and feelings like I do and acted like an ass and am now facing consequences - oh god I fucked up, I need to make this better somehow" young, when the stakes are low and you forget about it by puberty? You know how that childhood loneliness gives you a paralyzing fear of rejection that leaves you with a guarded persona, makes you agonize there's something wrong with you? How it makes you feel like you're irreparably broken, irreconcilably different?

I do.

So I'm confident that I know what I'm talking about when I say "it looks a lot like Dirk Strider." Coincidentally, it can also look a lot like Jake English. I know because I've been both. And you'll notice, pile of neuroses though I am, I am neither a victim nor am I a monster.

So. Yeah. Evil!Dirk upsets me greatly and always has and I don't want to see it. Except now it's everywhere and I once again have to tread lightly if I want to find any content of him that isn't made directly by me. A thing I loved has become something that makes me feel feelings that suck. *Again!* And I don't have the time or energy to throw into counteracting it at the moment, unlike with TLCstuck and the retcon a few years back. And yeah, this is personal and no one is responsible for my feelings and emotional wellbeing but me, yes, yes. But also this is my blog and I get to pick what goes on it and this is me telling myself "to hell with what people think when they see it, it's Tumblr, this is the house that personal emotional-fueled discourse built", and also if I didn't get this out I'd kind of end up screaming about it in my head again until all I can articulate is a high-pitched screech? I just need to fucking vent this out so I can get on with my goddamn day and it's out of my head? So maybe it'll quit coming back? It's way too fucking early for this? And oops, this post got way too long and a lot more emotional than I was expecting. Hey, crying helps relieve stress, y'know (Note: I'm not actually crying, it's the principle of the thing).

tl;dr, I have always thought Evil!Dirk was bullshit but it still hurts to see, and while I know I have no reason to bear a grudge against the people writing it as people, on principle, there's a part of me that wants to fucking punch those responsible for putting it back in the fandom consciousness in such a big way? Especially when I'm not seeing anyone pick over the horseshit done to other characters in quite the same way.

That is all. Carry on, I've vented my spleen. I'm gonna toss this post to the wind and go back to Wolf 359 shitposting.

Confessions of a Shortcake Cake Lover

Hiya everybody! Its been awhile huh? Sorry about that, I had a ton of commissions this month- For those that don’t know I work freelance as an artist on top of my regular 9-5 job so things can get craaaaazy!

BUT WE’RE BACK! Back to talk about Shortcake Cake! Which is, in fact, at this very moment at least, my favorite shojo of all time! Shortcake cake has the best protagonist. Shortcake cake has the perfect will they won't they love triangle. Shortcake cake has well developed male leads. Shortcake cake reminds me I'm not straight

And viz media published a review and it sucked and you can tell the person isn't a shojo enthusiast and BY THE NINE DIVINES IM HERE TO SHOUT THE PRAISE SHORTCAKE CAKE DESERVES!

BECAUSE THAT’S RIGHT IT GOT AN OFFICIAL ENGLISH TANKOBON SO ITS TIME TO CELEBRATE BEING ABLE TO HOLD THIS MANGA IN MY HANDS!

Now lets talk about me being gay for Ten

MOVEING ALONG, I’m not ashamed to admit I picked up this series solely because I like Tens design. She's cute, cat-like and kind of looks like Hatsune Miku in my favorite Pinocchio-P song Nobody Makes Sense.

(Right?!)

As far as personality goes, Ten does not disappoint. She's thoughtful, practical, inexperienced in love but by no means does that obliviousness come off as stupid.

AND MARA’S SAKE TOO MANY TIMES WE HAVE THE DIZY PROTAGONIST AS A DEVICE TO ARBITRARILY DRAW OUT THE PLOT WHEN EVERYTHING WOULD HAVE BEEN SOLVED IF SHE THOUGHT HUH THIS GUY KISSED ME AND WE ALWAYS HANG OUT MABY I SHOULD ASK “CHUNTS UP WITH THAT?”

Ten says what she means all the time. She's the smart best friend character that you always wish was the main. I can pinpoint the exact moment Ten became my shojo protagonist hero.

Its right here at the end of volume one

Your average clueless inexperienced heroine would pretend to be asleep. She would ponder the meaning of one dudes' words for days and come up with no answer at all! But not our ten. Our Ten gets right to the point. Now that doesn’t mean Ten is infallible. She gets confused and worries about love later in the series but only when it makes sense to do so because the actual situations call for it. Shortcake cake masterfully depicts the feelings many shojos fail to capture realistically. At what moment does one fall in love? Why do we like the people we do? How should we act around that person? It’s the realism of the characters that really draws you in to Shortcake Cakes lack of plot.

Oh ya the plot! There's not a whole lot to it. Cliffnotes version is - A girl lives into a boarding house with two cute guys and some other people whom you can immediately tell the author does not care about.

The long version is that Ten has a long commute to school so she moves into a boarding house that is closer to school with two cute guys and some other people whom you can immediately tell the author does not care about.

You might think I'm being harsh on the other housemates BUT LOOK AT HER BEST FRIENDS/HOUSEMATES EYES

HELLO EXPOSITION SALLY. COULD YOU REALLY NOT GIVE HER PROPER EYES THAT CAN EXPRESS PROPER EMOTIONS. I IMMEDIATELY KNOW YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BE PLOT RELEVANT. THIS IS MY ONE CRITICISM OF SHORTCAKE CAKE. It really doesn't value anyone other than the main three.

Now let's get to the meat of what makes Shortcake cake not just good but fantastic.

It’s a little something that shojos almost never do for some reason

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT FOR MALE CHARACTERS

A LOVE TRIANGLE THAT DEVELOPS ORGANICALLY AND BELIEVABLY.

For black haired boy A there's the “too friendly with girls” Riku. Riku is the type of male lead that I normally hate. He’s too flirty, and all that happiness is just gonna be a façade for some major hangups. But this is where shortcake cake works its magic. We get to hear a lot of Rikus thoughts outside of what he says to Ten. We get to see when he feels awkward, when he second guesses what he says to cute girl. (like us all hahah) He’s believable! We know what he worries about! And thus, we know he's a good guy even as Ten is trying to figure him out. Shortcake cake gives Riku a chance to shine so we can care about him just as much as we care about Ten.

And for not black haired boy b there is the gorgeous book loving Chiaki!

Chiaki is the secret ditzy heroine of Shortcake Cake. He’s confused about his feelings a lot of the time I feel. Sometimes says quotes from books when he's not sure what to say because he's a cute dork like that. And he has a Shonen-esque pre-occupation with friendship.

Chiaki knows he's falling for Ten but he also knows Riku is his friend. Dare I say it? Riku is his nakama. There's an alternate universe script of shortcake cake that’s a yaoi I stg. Riku is so devoted to supporting Rikus love that’s its hilarious. He is the Kaoru to Rikus Hikaru (we still remember ouran high-school host club right?). But this boy is also a natural smooth talker. He has some genuinely great moments with ten that really leave you guessing who she might go for. He’s gorgeous and he cares so much about the people around him that you can’t help but really like him. 10/10 shojo boy. Might be bisexual. In a perfect world this series would be about an OT3 instead of an OTP This is why I love this series. It gives you a love triangle where they guys have a strong relationship that gets developed outside the girl- and all three stand as such strong characters the love triangle tension actually works.

The other thing about shortcake cake is that I like Ten so much that I would be perfectly happy with whatever ending because she's the one I'm rooting for- but the author had to go and make both boys so damn likeable that I can't pick a side! The characters carry the story and I don’t want to spoil it because there are some truly wonderful romantic moments and love triangle hilarity. It makes me want to be at that damn boarding house.

Also this doesn't need to be said because ya’ll have eyes but the art is GEORGEIOUS. The use of pretty designs, contrast and geometric shapes is stunning.

Anyways in conclusion Shortcake cake is everything a shojo should be. It makes you want to be in love. It's funny and gives you that heart squeezing feeling. It treats its characters as real people and lets us see how people could fall for one another. Despite some trope bending It is a shojo through and though. If That’s not your thing, shortcake cake isn't going to change your mind. But, if a good shojo is what you live for, JOIN ME ON THIS JOURNEY THAT STILL DOSNT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH CAKE!

Now we are closer than ever before~ (Lemon) Sebastian MichaelisxArthur Conan Doyle

((A/N: Contains Lemon and Yaoi, so if you don’t like then don't read. I don’t own Black butler and the characters!!! please enjoy!!))

It’s been a year since that when Arthur was invited to the Phantomhive Mansion for that party in which turned into a murder investigation and then into a game for Ceil and the Queen herself to see if Ceil was still loyal to her. So Arthur still worked on his books like he normally does, but he still couldn’t get rid of that feeling of what Sebastian had said before he had ran off after learning the truth that Sebastian is a demon. Which was that they would be watching him in everyone move that he makes and listen to everything that he says to anyone. So to try to keep his mind off of things, he goes to write one of his stories in helping him to relax a bit, and as he was writing every little sound like a creak, wind howling, animals making noises from outside made Arthur jump in fear in thinking that demon Sebastian Michaelis was there watching him form afar somewhere as he believed that he was safe in knowing that it most likely wasn’t him, but unaware to him he had no idea of how wrong he was.

So on cloudy morning, Arthur thought it would be best that maybe going out for some fresh air will be the best thing to clear his head. So he then his house as he decides to go take a walk on the streets as he then decides to go to the park that maybe he can relax more easily there. He continues to walk for several minutes as he arrives at the park as he walks into the park and he walks over to a bench in front of a small pond. Arthur takes his seat on the bench as he pinch the bridge of his nose as he was in a lot of stress since he couldn’t shake the feeling that he was being watched. He then looks up at the sky in watching the birds fly by and then he hears an all too familiar person said, “Well I see you’ve been in a lot of stress lately, Dr. Arthur Doyle~.” Arthur’s eyes widen in fear as he then looks in front and sees none other than Sebastian Michaelis with a small table and tea already made as he shakes in fear as Sebastian was giving him his signature smile. Sebastian continues to smile as he then said, “Would you like some tea, Doctor?” “Y-Yes.” Arthur said in a terrified voice as he gets up and shakes in fear in wondering of why Sebastian was here all of the sudden.

Arthur then takes his seat as Sebastian pushes him in and Sebastian said, “Would you like some sugar and cream?” “N-no thanks.” Arthur said terrified out of his mind in thinking that one wrong word and he’s going to be killed. Sebastian pour him a cup of tea and then places it in front of him and Arthur said, “Th-Thank you.” “My pleasure and tell me how are things.” Sebastian said as Arthur said, “E-Everything is fine and g-great.” Sebastian chuckles and said, “You don't need to be afraid as I’m not here for my Lord’s business.” That made a bit at ease, but still not the fact of Sebastian being here, and then Sebastian keeps the tea kettle on the burner on low heat to keep it warm. Arthur then takes a sip of his tea as it was amazedly good as Sebastian said, “How is your tea. Fujoshi Handbook: Just two dudes being dudes anime recommednations

This will be a post containing those anime that you can nonchalantly watch with others that have a super strong bromance or just two dudes being dudes *cough cough* no homo (or when you run out of yaoi). Besides their flowery appearance and adorable companion they’re very hands on with each other. They need to prove to the world that LOVE is still important. It’s always best to lead by example right? Black Butler (8.5/10): A young orphan master, Ceil, has returned from the brink of death with the aid of the demon, Sebastian, in order to gain his revenge. Follow their adventure through two series and several movies as they struggle to keep the streets of England safe from serial killers like Jack the Ripper and magical beings that seek to challenge them. Together they must protect their secret contract that states that once Ceil’s vengeance is complete Sebastian will consume his soul. With this contract the relationship between master and servant is something questionable for all outsiders. Supernatural, Adventure, Comedy, Action

Code Geass (9/10): Ah, childhood best friends. They know everything about you and will do anything for you. However, when war consumes their world they find themselves on opposite sides of the battle field. Lelouch, the former prince is gifted with a magical ability to control people’s wills and plots his revenge. Meanwhile, Suzaku is left out of the loop and ends up fighting for the opposite side. Fukigen na Mononokean (10/10): Hanae is just your regular high schooler that is hoping for greatness and a girlfriend. Unfortunately his reputation proceeds him. He spent the first week in the infirmary and suffering form weird accidents. Believing that he was cursed he takes extreme measures and calls an exorcist to help him. However, the exorcist he stumbles into is actually the bridge between the spirit world and the human world. Though a series of events Hanae becomes indebted to Abeno and they slowly grow closer together through both school and their magical adventure into the spirit world. K (Kings) (6/10): Yashiro is suddenly accused of murdering a clansman of the Red King’s group thanks to a video that suddenly went viral. Kings are people that have been granted incredible supernatural powers and abilities and set out to gather a clan. Now that one of the Red King’s clansman is dead Yashiro is being hunted by everyone which bring him in contact with Kurou, who’s a skilled swordsman. Yashiro slowly discovers that his past is being forgotten by those he shared it with and instead he is remembering new memories. Throughout all of this confusion Kurou is always by Yashiro’s side to protect him and aid him. Mystery, Supernatural, Magic powers

Makai Ouji Devils and Realist (9/10): When William’s greedy uncle suddenly steal all of his money he can’t afford his schooling. He believes he might have to drop out until he accidentally summons a demon, Dantalion. Dantalion sticks close to the young human as he tries to convince him that he’s the best candidate to rule Hell in Lucifer’s place. It’s a romance of a devil and a realist (a man of science) that will keep you laughing and on the edge of your seat with the action. Magical creatures, Supernatural, School, Adventure, Mystery

Naruto/Naruto Shippuden (8/10): One of the longest running shows in anime that takes our heroes from when they were children to their teenage years to their children. However, for the purpose of this list we’re going to focus on the pairing of Naruto and Sasuke. It’s no lie that Naruto might be a little obsessed with his once enemy turned teammate turned enemy turned ally turned (you know what I mean). If not long story short, Naruto and Sasuke got off to a bumpy start but once they became friends Sasuke decided to leave the team and the hidden leaf village and naruto. Thus triggers Naruto’s training to be better than Sasuke so he can bring him back to the village. Action, Adventure, Supernatural, Magical Powers

One Punch Man (7/10): After training for three years Saitama has become a hero, but he lost all his hair in the process. No one can defeat him in battle and thus everything has lost the thrill. However, he’s not recognized by people or registered with the Hero Association. Until Genos, a cyborg, who has heard of his accomplishments comes to investigate him and ask to become his apprentice. Saitama has no idea what to do with an apprentice, but now Genos won’t stop following him around. Action, Comedy, Sci-Fi, Superpower, Supernatural

Orenchi no Furo Jijou (8/10): Collection of shorts that tell the tale of Tatsumi who finds a merman that desperately needs his help since the merman, Wakasa’s, home has become too polluted to live in. Tatsumi offers Wakasa his bathtub to live in and thus begins their life as roommates. Comedy, Supernatural, Merman

Owari No Seraph (10/10): Mika and Yuu were both orphans and childhood best friends. However, in the war between vampires and humans they end up on different sides. This doesn’t stop them from wanting to see each other constantly. They challenge difficult foes, battle demons and vampires, deceive their allies, and do just about anything to get to each other. They are not the only “dudes just being dudes” in this series either. This show is almost as bad as a sports anime. Action, Vampire, Triller, Violence, Revenge, Mystery

Shisha no Teikoku (7/10): People are now coming back to life as reanimated corpses however they lack souls. That is until Dr. Frankenstein was able to successfully accomplish putting the soul in the reanimated corpse. John Watson hopes to fulfill his promise to his late partner, Friday, and decides to reanimate his corpse. Together they hunt for Dr. Frankenstein’s notes so they can return Friday’s soul to his body. Psychological, Sci-Fi, Zombies, War

Shounen Maid (9/10): Chihiro’s mother suddenly dies and he’s left with nothing, but his extravagant uncle, Madoka, who comes out of the blue to help him. Madoka is a famous fashion designer, but it seems like he’s the one that will need Chihiro to take care of him. Chihiro attempts to maintain control of the house hold, but Madoka enjoys dressing Chihiro in a frilly maid uniform and a cat costume. Madoka tries to make Chihiro feel welcome after suffering such a loss and together they grow closer. Slice of Life, Romance, Comedy

Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge (9/10): All Tanaka-kun wants to do is nothing: all day, everyday. However, things get in his way such as school and walking. Thankfully he has his best friend Oota to help him achieve his goal of being as listless as possible. Oota aids Tanaka in everything from walking to the next class to sleeping through class. They say they relate to an old married couple which might be why this show is so heartwarming and an instant mood booster. Plus it also has “some girls just being girls”. Comedy, Slice of Life, School Life

Trickster: Edogawa Ranpo “Shounen Tanteidan” yori (7/10): The Boys Detectives’ Club is the perfect place for blooming love. Hanasaki is the son of a wealthy public figure, but he striped himself of his family in order to join the club and one day he discovers a boy named Kobayashi who can’t die no matter what he does. In order to gain Kobayshi’s trust Hanasaki promises that he’ll kill him. Kobayashi slowly becomes more human and learns how to interact with people instead of living isolated from the world. Mystery, Detectives, Supernatural Powers, Comedy

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

Evangelion: Some people watch this whole series for their romance only to find that it only spans a few episodes.

Mirai Nikki: There are hints throughout the series that it’s coming, but for some it’s not too obvious since Yuno is such a Yandere.

Tales of Zestiria: Childhood friends are the perfect chemical for romance. The movie set them up for success. I never watched the series, but I heard it was good for all those “Dudes just being dudes” feels.

Tokyo Ghoul: There was so much potential for these too, but Kaneki was too absorbed in himself and the ghoul situation for this to develop into anything or to be interesting.

I’ve decided to share a pile of some of my favorite fics from multiple genres. There’s no way I’ll get them all here but I’ll do my best to fill this post with as many as possible!!

The Lucky Ones by Terri Botta (Isilwath) (Inuyasha) Sometimes Fate hands you a gift you never thought you’d ever get, and it’s up to you to accept it for what it is. [Hand’s down the BEST Inuyasha post-series fanfic I’ve EVER READ!!! One note - this series was begun before the anime was completed so there are a few canon divergences. As it is, I prefer the way this story brought things to a close so I have no problems with that. Also, this is a MATURE story with good reason! Lots of sexy times throughout - but wonderfully written and absolutely crucial to the story progression. I never felt the sexy parts were thrown in purely for the smex.]

The Coyote Child by Terri Botta (Isilwath) (Inuyasha) Sequel to The Lucky Ones. Inuyasha and Kagome are asked to adopt a coyote-hanyou baby from Arizona. [WIP but worth it!!!!]

You're not Alone by Of Memories Past (Inuyasha) After the final battle with Naraku the well seals, forcing Kagome back to her time for good. Only Inuyasha knows a way for them to be reunited again, and it doesn't involve the well...

Always My Soul by dragonfly-rising (Inuyasha) Why is it always my soul people mess with? Kagome asked herself in a moment of hopeless annoyance.The attack had come with no warning. And in the end Kagome could find no reason why she, Inuyasha, or Miroku should have seen it

//Hm… modern!Madara/Sakura it is then.

who hogs the duvet: Sakura, and good luck prying it out of her sleeping death-grip. His only luck is to take what little he can get or allow himself to be trapped along with the covers.

who texts/rings to check how their day is going: I’d say both, to some degree. Without something to occupy his attention for too long (working alongside/sparring with Hashirama at the martial arts studio, making a nuisance of himself to Tobirama, etc.) Madara might be tempted to send a text or two. When she’s not in the middle of a surgery or meeting, Sakura is like wise inclined to send a few herself.

who’s the most creative when it comes to gifts: Both are actually pretty good about gift giving, though Madara’s gifts can tend to be more in the practical side than not.

who gets up first in the morning: Both are pretty early risers, with Madara having long grown used to it through habit and Sakura through necessity; hospital hours can be a pain, no question.

who suggests new things in bed: The both of them, courtesy of their own tastes and the, ah, thoughtful suggestions of a friend or two, even if they never admit to as much to them (she’ll never tell as much to Dr. Hatake, and God forbid Madara ever bring it up himself to Jiraiya.)

who cries at movies: Sakura. Madara’s pretty stone-set during emotional scenes, though she knows he’s a bit more moved every now and then than what appearance would suggest.

who gives unprompted massages: Depends on the type of day; did work kick her ass harder than Hashirama did his? Both get their fair share of massage treatment.

who fusses over the other when they’re sick: Sakura. After a year of living together, he knows that head of pink hair and seemingly unthreatening height of hers are nothing but a front for the demon that actually makes an appearance the moment he even sneezes out of turn. He still doesn’t bother with lying down unless he’s actually dying-sick, which tends to drive her crazy.

who gets jealous easiest: Madara, but he’s mollified every once in a while by the dirty looks she’ll shoot at an occasional admirer of his.

who has the most embarrassing taste in music: Sakura, and it has turned out to be one of the more infuriating revenge tactics she has against him riling her up.

who collects something unusual: Madara tends to bring in the occasional item of interest, but Sakura’s the one liable to bring in all sorts of strange ‘memorabilia’, most of which he doesn’t know what to make of in the slightest.

who takes the longest to get ready: Madara. He’s actually pretty quick about getting ready, but Haruno’s in, out, and on her way in record time.

who is the most tidy and organised: It’s close, but Madara is downright immaculate versus Sakura’s general tidiness.

who gets most excited about the holidays: Sakura, and guess who gets dragged along for the ride? He doesn’t exactly soften up the further into the festivities they go, but her lightened spirits are enough for him to at least let-up on the Scrooge-aura.

who is the big spoon/little spoon: Madara would be if Sakura didn’t snag the aforementioned covers. As it stands, she’s currently the big spoon for the sake of him not freezing to death in the night. It works though, surprisingly well.

who gets most competitive when playing games and/or sports: Madara by far, even though Sakura can be stiff competition when properly motivated.

who starts the most arguments: Madara. He usually has a cooled observation lying in wait that lights the powder keg in Sakura’s temper. Of course, there’s nothing to say he doesn’t do as much because he just enjoys seeing her riled up…

who suggests that they buy a pet: There’s not an official pet so much as several unofficial ones. Turns out the Uchiha has a perchance for attracting cats, and there’s a saucer of milk courtesy of him waiting for them every morning.

what couple traditions they have: (what even are couple traditions though?)

what tv shows they watch together: Grey’s Anatomy has been a favorite of hers for quite a while, though she can appreciate the appeal of House M.D. that Madara has for the series. They alternate between the two when time allows for it.

what other couple they hang out with: Hashirama and Mito meet with them every once in a while out on the town, swapping stories and drinks on days when the hospital’s earliest shift isn’t waiting for Sakura and Mito’s kendo teaching schedule at the dojo isn’t as tedious.

how they spend time together as a couple: He’s taken to teaching her hand-to-hand in the hopes she can keep up on days when Hashirama (or Tobirama) aren’t available, and she’s started expanding his knowledge on first-aid (read as: patching himself up without crooked stitches). It’s already starting to show, if her punches damn near winding him and him being able to pick apart some of her hospital work are proof of anything. Walks around the city are good too, as are quiet conversations in bed when night falls.

who made the first move: Madara, and he nearly earned a broken nose for how he went about it (nothing 'disrespectful’ of course, just unexpectedly forward ). Thankfully, no further violence was necessary in the wake of her being asked out properly.

who brings flowers home: Sakura, because one does not simply run into one’s childhood florist friend for coffee or lunch without taking home a bouquet for ones trouble.

who is the best cook: Madara, if only for the sake of not dying a slow death from food poisoning courtesy of Sakura’s cooking. He’s said as much, too, which only earned him a embarrassed blush and a few choice words for his 'trouble’.
