After some time of dating, when Husk and Angel decide to get married (by Lucifer, as the closest thing to "holy" authority in Hell), the moment they exchange rings they can each feel the chains of their deals pulling and then breaking, freeing them from their contracts since, once married, their souls belong to each other.

Leafkit and Squirrelkit make "travelling herbs" for Sandstorm before she goes for a walk. They're delicious, she assures the kits, through tears in her eyes. They run away proudly, she rushes out of camp for the nearest creek to wash her mouth in. Nasty, she mouths, but she'll eat whatever they make. The kits' smiles make it worth a wet face.

Had a ton of fun with this one but don't wanna bog down the main post. A lot of unrelated-to-wc process talk below the cut!
So this was a bit of experimentation with a new brush which turned into exploration into gradient maps.
The original idea was simply to modify csp's mechanical pencil brush into something that felt a bit more natural. It started with simply turning on a bit of tilt-controlled thickness and setting my colour to about 80% grey, rather than black. It didn't quite feel right, but setting the brush to blend with the subcolour on each tip, setting the subcolour to the 80% grey and the main colour to the canvas' colour, then setting the brush's blend mode to darken gave me a brush that felt like it had FAR finer line control.
The lines themselves look like this (on a more saturated bg to show how the values layer/fade in and out with pressure and tilt):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(edit to pic: completely unnoticeable when on the intended base colour*)
This is where the gradient maps come in. The way I usually change my linearts' colours is to make a new layer, mask over it, and manually paint. It gives a lot of control to your end result, but it's time consuming and often takes many adjustments to make it feel like it has enough contrast to make the drawing actually *readable.* If I wanted to add a gradient map to the lineart, it would be unable to read the transparency and would pick from the single value that the lineart is (usually black), then the transparency would take over. This gives me a dull result.
Tumblr media
With the "transparency" being an actual colour, that gives it an actual value for the gradient map to read. So instead of having your lines fade from black to the colour behind it (often desaturating as it goes), it'll go from something like dark blue -> reddish-grey -> orange -> yellow. It adds a little something i think, and while I absolutely don't have this down pat, it could be something interesting to explore!
Tumblr media
I also wanted to go further with this piece, namely painting it rather than a shading layer set on overlay with the aforementioned gradient maps all over it but ... it wasnt happening. The art skills clocked out for the day. That said, I definitely want to explore how this would look if I coloured everything for realsies rather than doing the fallback method. Could be where they really shine!

Okay, hear me out here. So, I'm thinking about this post again and I firmly believe that maybe the claws are a Yuuji thing.
Wait, before you say anything!
Now, not saying this is a big brained moment from me or anything.
It's just I think that claws may be Yuuji's thing and I also would like it to be because it just fits?
I'll explain, just work with me here.
Tumblr media
Alright, hands seem to be a big deal in this story.
I don't know if that is an established thing already, I haven't been active in the JJK fandom like that, but just saying there's a lot of hand symbolism going on here.
Sukuna's fingers, hand signs to summon domains and shikigamis, hands are used to use curse techniques most of the time, high-fives happen quite a bit, some of the cast are hand to hand combatants, people be losing their limbs which usually be hands and arms...
With that being said, Yuuji is all about them hands. That is Mr. LEFT RIGHT GOODNIGHT. A lot of his fighting style is hands. On top of that, he even loses his hand and fingers, and again later on with a pinkie.
There's also the fact he swallowed a finger.
Said finger happened to be clawed.
Tumblr media
Now I know, I know. "That's Sukuna's finger!"
Yes! And his fingers (as curse objects) have claws/long fingernails.
But what if that is Gege's way of foreshadowing Yuuji's thing being claws?
Looking back through the manga and anime, the only few times Sukuna has long nails is when he's possessing Yuuji (more so in the anime so far, but it's there in the manga, too... also in advertisement and other official art). He doesn't have long nails when he possesses Megumi and even in his original form.
Here's him in his original form and possessing Megumi!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's him possessing Yuuji!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That got me thinking outside the story.
Again, what if Sukuna's fingers as cursed objects has long nails as a foreshadowing visual that Yuuji was going to have claws later? What if Gege gave those cursed objects (Sukuna's fingers) long nails as a subtle hint that Yuuji was later going to have an ability that had to with with having claws?
Also! Nicknames! Specifically the "Tiger of the West/Tiger of West Junior High" one.
Tigers have what? Besides, a tail, ears, fangs and stripes? Claws! I find that nickname fitting to the claws thing, honestly.
I also did a quick research on tiger symbolism and found out they represent courage, strength, warding off bad luck and evil spirits.
Courage and strength is definitely Yuuji. Protector from bad luck and evil spirits? Different story. It's ironic given how much he has been through since the start of the story and how much he blames himself for whatever misfortune others go through, but then I thought about it and realized that piece fits him, too.
He is a protector, he wants to protect people. He doesn't like the idea of taking a life without purpose. And he does ward off bad luck and evil spirits which just so happens to be curses. He handles curses and able to withstand Sukuna. Which irritates Sukuna.
With that said!
Yeah, I think the claws are more of Yuuji's thing and I just also like the idea because it just seems to fit him. Yuuji with claws is badass to me. I think he could be a bigger threat of he's actually able to cut into Sukuna just as Sukuna did him before.
EDIT: I also want to add that what if in a future chapter we see Yuuji uses Sukuna's cursed technique, but a variation that suits those claws of his? Sukuna does a lot of cutting moves. Claws do what? Cut! There was that bit back in chapter 12 where Gojo mentions how Yuuji's body will learn Sukuna's cursed technique eventually, right?

Can I please see some more of your OC?
Now that my PC has recovered, here is all the art I've gotten of my squirrelboi, Dust. (unless I've missed something)
First the reference image, showcasing the model that @/olivercanticle revised for me (based on a much more simple model I made in Vroid)
Tumblr media
Next, with a small story attached; my friend @/maplejava was at one point doing emergency commissions, I pitched in on Ko-fi, but told him that there wasn't anything in particular I wanted.
MY DUDE DECIDED HE WAS DOING SOMETHING ANYWAY AND SURPRISED ME WITH THIS WONDERFULLY STUPID IMAGE. (Context: I'm a sex-repulsed Asexual)
Tumblr media
But that's not where maple's surprises would end, because he has also been working on a VRChat map that's kind of meant to be a hub or sorts for our friend group.
So while making that map, he adds in a Soda machine and decides, "you know what? I'm just going to put TJ's Character on there, imitating the boxart of the PS1 classic Pepsiman"
you know AS ANY PERSON WOULD THINK TO DO.
Tumblr media
On the more tame side of things, as mentioned in that previous post, I've commissioned @/lenoxmst-blog to draw him a couple times (fun fact: He came up with the idea of having the rim of his goggles reference back to the Godot mask that Henry, my Yoshi character has always had)
Tumblr media
And then, inspired by my Lobotomy Corporation playthrough, I asked Lenox for another piece where he's barely holding it together. (This game is amazing and also I have SO much fun editing this image)
Tumblr media
At around the same time I asked lenox for the first image, I also commissioned @/cookiestar456
Tumblr media
My current profile pic was done by the wonderful @/sethwindam
Tumblr media
My friend Fuzz contacted one of his artist friends to gift me this art
Tumblr media
When I started doing a mild amount of programming work for ChairGTables at lame dimension, this guy was made:
Tumblr media
And finally, inspired by my Mario Kart streams, @/plushievik and @kahilia made fan art of Dust in cute chibi animal form
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a bonus for scrolling through all this art, here's a couple of my favorite screenshots I have gotten while using VSeeFace, the software that tracks my face for my stream
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you might be able to tell, I really like my dumb little squirrel fella. And I've not even talked about the lore I gave him (which is largely based around a real experience that happened to me in a gaming session)

5 and 24 for the writing ask meme!
Thanks for asking!
5. Do you have any writing superstitions? What are they and why are they 100% true?
Certain stories that I write have had a loose tendency to come true.
I've sort of eased up on believing this, however, after I wrote various stories about grief and...y'know (I think the stories I've written that would most make people go "Oh, poor dear, she's writing out her Issues" if I gave folks a synopsis were all started before the Issues in question.) Like, let's not add more self-blame than necessary to the mix.
Also because I've now drifted into more roman a clef writing where art resembles life after the fact, though in either case, I don't think anyone could pull a super accurate biography out of my bibliography. Details are changed to protect the not-so-innocent, etc. Plus my life has given me stuff to write about but it's not that interesting.
Still, when I want something to happen, I might draft it as a bit of sympathetic magic.
24. How much prep work do you put into your stories? What does that look like for you? Do you enjoy this part or do you just want to get on with it?
It varies widely, though usually the longer the story, the more prep work I put in. In some cases, I'm starting to grapple with the fact that I might put in too much prep work, brainstorming and researching until I have so much material that organizing it feels impossible.
But I'm also an advocate of the WIPs File and Zero Drafts -- whenever I have an idea that might make a story (or poem), I jot down a few words and put them in the file. So when I sit down to actually write a story, often I already have key images, beginning and ending, character names, and suchlike useful stuff, sometimes accrued a piece at a time over years.
If I feel I have a certain critical mass of details in my head, I'll sometimes sit down and write the entire first draft in one or two sittings with virtually no prep work ahead of time.
I enjoy the prep a lot since it makes me feel productive even when I'm not, in the immediate sense, 'writing'. And indeed I am productive when I do the prep work, just as much as when I write or edit.

Week 10, November 8
This week I was still feeling in a massive rut. I have a ton of exams coming up and I'm really stressed out but literally am always so tired because I barely sleep so I'm struggling to find the time, energy, and motivation to do any school work. Sorry for my pity party moment ✨ okay moving on. So I felt really good about the word vomit draft and the feedback I received back on it, so I felt like the first actual draft went okay, I really just made some edits and added in citations and some information about my project and the artists that inspired me. I know I need help with in-text citations and footnotes, so id like to have a meeting about that. I feel like I need to be putting a reference after every single sentence which makes no sense to me, and I know that I need to slim down the history part, but I'm not sure what to leave in/what to take out and if I should use footnotes, and if so I don't really know how to go about that.
for the first draft, I needed to research more artists that inspired me, so I started my scholarly research off with that... my main influence was Brian Blomerth, who is the author and illustrator of the book "Bicycle Day" that Chris gave me, but I definitely was eager to find some more inspo.
Ian McKay (@hi__bred on Instagram)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ian Mckay is a San Francisco-based comic artist and illustrator. His work really caught my eye because of how soft I look (lol), like everything looks squishy. I love the color pallett of his work, and my favorite piece out of this bunch is the upper right picture. I love the way that he illustrates his comics because they feel so detailed, yet the faces of the characters are so simple. I think that's something that is really stressing me out, truing to work out a really detailed character for my book, but maybe I don't really have to do that... after all, I want the illustrations to focus more on the trip itself rather than the character's expressions. If she had a really detailed face in every frame, it might take away from the other stuff.
Beth Frey (@sentimentmuppetfactory on Instagram)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is literally almost no information on Beth Frey other than what is on her Instagram. I couldn't find a website or anything like that and her Instagram doesn't tell us where she's based or what kind of artist she is. But aside from that, I'm obsessed with her work. What I love most about it is the context of everything, and now none of it makes sense. I think some of these ideas will be really helpful when I'm brainstorming things that my character will see/experience on the psychedelic trip.
Little City Books Slay
for my creative research as well, I wanted to find some more inspiration for character designs and illustration styles, so I took a trip to little city books and dug through the graphic novels. These were my favorites.
Dog Biscuits by Alex Graham
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this graphic novel really spoke to me because of the simplicity of the drawings. I also like how the characters are animals, similar to Bicycle Day... maybe it would be cool for my character to be some sort of animal just to add a level of weirdness.
Logicomix by Apostikis Doxiadis and Christos H. Papadimitriou and Art by Alecos Papadatos and Annie Di Donna
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This one spoke to me because I loved the colors in it, and the characters definitely have more detail and expression than other books, but still not overly detailed. I know this is going to be a struggle I will face since I usually do hyper-realistic art, I'm going to have a hard time letting go of making things looks "real" but I know that's not feasible for what I'm making.
Other Than Afters by Melanie Gillman
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The colors and characters in this one are my favorites. I also love that we can see the colored pencil texture.
One Beautiful Spring Day by Jim Woodring
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This book just caught my eye because it is massive and really expensive lol. The cover is also stunning, and the illustrations inside are gorgeous, but not what I'm going for.
Creative Research
After gathering some more inspo, I went in for a second try at character design/illustration style...
Tumblr media
EEP I love this so much. I wanted to explore the whole animal as a character thing and I'm obsessed with it. I just sketched out a few little ideas and I'm really happy with them and I cant wait to further explore these!!!

Final Exam
1.) My Work of Art
Tumblr media
("Photograph of Culinary Fried rice and Beef Stew")
Artist: Sammy Anesca
Medium: Photograph (Still Life)
Date: 2023
For my final exam, I would like to showcase my still-life photograph of two dishes on a black table, which includes a plate of fried rice and a bowl of stew. Regarding the documentation, allow me to demonstrate the process I followed to prepare these dishes and present them.
As for the ingredients, I decided to use brown rice, soy sauce, sesame oil (although any cooking oil will do), garlic, onion, and beans. Even though I looked up two websites for ideas and ingredients when making fried rice. One article which showed a Chinese-style recipe with soy sauce, eggs, and vegetables. The other article featured a Thai-style recipe with shrimp, fish sauce, and basil leaves.
After constant advice from my Mom, I began by washing the brown rice before setting it on the stove to simmer. While the rice was cooking, I chopped the garlic and onion and fried them quickly in oil. Once they were golden brown, I added the prepared brown rice and stir-fried it to make sure the flavors were well distributed. In order to give the combination a rich, savory taste, I later sprinkled soy sauce and sesame oil over it. I finished by adding the beans and combining everything, letting them simmer and impart their flavors to the food. To be honest, I think the homemade fried rice I cooked turned out okay.
Then I needed to make the beef stew, so I washed my hands once more, called my mother once more (yeah…), and grabbed the ingredients from the fridge and kitchen pantry: beef, flour, salt, pepper, sesame oil (refined), onions, and garlic. I also took thyme, cornstarch, and water. To ensure that the beef would be tender and flavorful when cooked, I begin by seasoning the beef with salt and pepper, before dusting it with flour and browning it in a hot skillet with a small amount of oil. Then, I add sliced onions and garlic into another heavy-bottomed pan, causing the hot oil to continue to fry them quickly until they are browned or fragrant. Once the cooked beef has a browned appearance, I proceed to add the cooked beef to the pan with the minced garlic and onions. After the seasoned meat to forms a brown crust, which seals in the juices even more, I include some beef broth, thyme, and thinly sliced bell peppers to make the flavor even better. Next, I set the stove on low heat for a while so that stew could simmer since flavors could meld, and the meat would get softer. I finally added a finishing touch by combining cornstarch and water to thicken the sauce to the right consistency and give it a delicious texture.
Even though I was trying to eat straight away, my mother eventually reminded me that you have to wait a few minutes before eating the stew. This is because it helps the stew become tastier, and the meat to become even softer. However, because the smell of the stew was so irresistible, it made it extremely difficult to not want a quick taste. After a while, I gave in to my hunger and scooped out a sizable piece. With the meat melting on my lips and the onions adding a wonderful crunch, each mouthful bursting with flavor. Even my family could not wait to enjoy another bite of this fried rice and stew, which was a masterpiece.
Nevertheless, it was not until I later realized, OH MY GOD, THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AN ASSIGNMENT FOR MY FINAL EXAM!
Afterward, I took what was left of "my final exam," carefully positioned it on the black table in my room and presented it as my still-life photograph.
So yeah, my bad on my part.
Ummmm, I hope I did well at least.

Media Studies #week 14
This week we finally began with our production process for our film “If only you were there”
Day 1:
The first day of shoot is always exciting and nerve-wracking as its where all the rehearsals, pre-production work and 6 months worth of planning comes to life.
We created the schedule in such a way that the locations were close-by so we wouldn’t waste time in travel.
day 1 consisted of only interior scenes which included “Neetha and Anya’s house”, “Namit’s house”, and “the flashback house”. however in reality we only used 2 locations.
Table read
Before starting the shoot we did a quick table read to refresh the pointers that are important while acting the scenes. Moreover, it helped us save time as there won’t be any confusion later.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Aryan(cinematographer) and I conducting the table read)
While briefing Sanjay sir (Namit), Advik(editor) conducted a short dubbing session for Chaitna ma’am(Neetha) as we needed her sounds for the phone calls in scene 4 and 6. I had briefed her the required pace and tone so she had a clear idea as to how to act. Advik solely supervised this recording as he had an idea as to how the sound should be recorded for the edit.
Tumblr media
Makeup:
For the makeup we primarily focused on Anya, We gave her dark circles as her character has anxiety and stress. As camera doesn’t show subtle makeup we had to enhance it and make it darker than required, which in real life looked unrealistic but on camera it looked perfect.
Tumblr media
Anya’s room:
Anya’s room is the first location and is where we introduce Anya to the audiences. As the setting plays a significant role while telling a story we wanted to focus on individual details for the room. As she is an art student we wanted the room to define her personality.
Scene 3
Conventionally, an art students room is filled with art supplies, plethora of art pieces and most importantly warmth and brightness. simultaneously, the room is also cluttered and chaotic which adds to her personality.
Tumblr media
For the mother daughter interaction we wanted to mainly focus on neetha being a helicopter parent.
youtube
To achieve this we made her dialogues more fast paced with concern and hurry in her tone.
After this scene was finalized we had to take an unexpected break as our cinematographer felt nauseous and had a massive headache. At one point we even considered postponing the shoot to later dates, however, our cinematographer was willing to stay back and continue the shoot as our actors had their own professional lives due to which getting them to be available again would be difficult.
Tumblr media
While Aryan was recovering, Advik and I decided to take the character interviews for our Instagram page. We prepared questions to ask the cast individually and told them the questions beforehand in order for the interview to go smoothly.
Tumblr media
Scene 7
Initially, according to the storyboard and shot division we had decided to only have one shot in this scene (bird’s eye view of Namit sleeping) however while shooting I thought we could add extra shots to let the audience know more about Namit.
We added a closeup of a Whiskey glass to show that he was an alcoholic. More over we also added a long shot, birds eye view and a tracking shot of Namit lying down.
Tumblr media
Scene 8
This was one of the most crucial scenes as it is the moment where the post twist takes place, we had to choreograph the whole scene as to where will the dialogue delivery take place.
youtube
(Aryan and i preparing the actors)
While Advik was prepping for the scene we took a quick rehearsal as our actors aren’t professionally trained. I explained to them about the background and the meaning of individual lines. Moreover, we gave them the freedom to improvise as according to me a fight scene is best done when it comes out naturally.
youtube
(me choreographing the scene)
Tumblr media
(BTS of scene 8)
Day 2:
Day 2 was fully based on external scene which took place on a bus stop, For which we used the Hollyland mics which we had tested before. We did the test again on the shoot day to make sure it is working.
After applying the makeup again to maintain continuity we began the shoot for day 2.
Tumblr media
Scene 9
We had to make sure we were on schedule as every scene required a certain sun position. for example in scene 9 we required an golden hour effect for which we shot it first, early in the morning.
Tumblr media
This scene takes place the day after Namit realizes that Anya is his daughter, so in this scene he doesn’t show up and Anya is upset over this. To gratify this scene we took a POV shot to show the audience, Anya’s perspective.
By showing Anya’s point of view while she was scanning her surrounding helps the audience feel the characters emotions and feel empathetic towards them.
Scene 4
This was the scene when the main characters interact for the first time. In this scene we wanted to capture Anya’s anger to towards the world contrasting with Namit’s calmness.
The costumes were also decided according to that. As they both have contrasting personalities where Namit always has a straight face meanwhile Anya is seen happy, sad, angry during the course of the entire film. The wardrobe for this scene was black outfit for Anya and white formals for Namit, We applied the yin-yang theory which says how 2 opposites can actually be interdependent and interconnected to balance the world.
Scene 5
As the apology scene is conflicting from the previous scene we made Anya wear lighter clothes. Overall as our film has fast cuttings compared to the conventional family films which has slow shots due to which we kept this shot slow and smooth with only one long shot.
This singular shot will help the audience focus more on the dialogues than the actions which are less relevant in this scene compared to the dialogues.
Tumblr media
We added humour to this scene as it gives audience a break from the seriousness and allows them to emotionally reset for the upcoming scene and help them absorb it better. Moreover, a well-placed comedic  scene can create a memorable contrast making the dramatic scenes more impactful. Lastly it enhances the storytelling and create a more well rounded cinematic experience.
Scene 10
The final and climax scene of the film had to be the best presented for which there are a few element that we had focused on.
Firstly, the framing of the shots were very important as it emphasizes the intensity of the scene.Overall we used closeups and over the shoulder shots as it clearly shows the facial expressions which are one of the crucial factor in a dramatic scene.
The pace of the dialogues were suppose to be perfectly timed as it couldn’t be too slow or fast. We made the actors extensively rehearse the lines before the shoot to nail the scene(as it was the last scene to be filmed and was conducted in the evening we didn’t want to lose the sun.)
youtube
Lastly, we made sure every element of the scene was carefully crafted to deliver maximum emotional impact.
Wrap!
Tumblr media
As the shoot comes to a close, there was a mix of emotions. On one hand there was relief that after all the unexpected problems we were able to manage it and the shoot went smoothly from there on. On the other hand there was a sense of sadness that the experience is over and we won’t be able to meet the cast often. Working with everyone in this team was something i will cherish forever as there was a real bond created amongst us.Lastly, it is good to know that all the long hours spent to make this shoot happen were successful and i can’t wait for the edit to begin and to watch the final output.
Directors cut:
I researched about how a character trait can be conveyed through makeup as Anya has anxiety which is not addressed in the film itself.  I found out that dark circles are one of the most evident factor seen when a person suffers from anxiety.
As a director I envisioned scene 3 to be with fast cuts with camera being closer to the character during every dialogue delivery. However, due to a delay in our schedule because of unexpected circumstances, the sun’s position had changed due to which we had to take tracking shots which made the scene more realistic
For scene 8 we required in depth research about the fight and how is it shot.I took inspiration from films such as ‘blue valentine”, “revolutionary road” etc. these movies helped me understand the pace, facial expressions and camera angles that are used in such scenes.
As our film was only 5 minutes long i wanted to incorporated meanings to every scene possible as it would enhance the quality of our film.So in scene 4 when Anya throws the paper at Namit it also implied that the paper was Anya (crumpled and torn) while namit brings the paper (life) back to her in order to fix it.

Final Exam
Taking ARH2000 has truly been one incredible journey. To end this class, I knew I had to demonstrate an art form that means the world to me and that is photography. Photography is a unique art form that gives me an outlet to not just show people this beautiful planet, but to express my every day feelings. One aspect of art that I really have taken from this class is that art has a deeper meaning the longer you look at the piece. In order to achieve this deeper meaning, I have combined several of my personal photographs into one singular composition to demonstrate a specific feeing. I will post the picture under it’s own heading and I challenge you to look upon this composition and ponder what feeling you get from it. Then you can scroll to the next heading to find out its intended meaning along with the title. For this final, let's explore a unique art from that comes from a singular camera lens.
Documentation Pictures- The Process
I take photographs every single day, but for this final I took photographs that were specifically designed for this assignment over the course of a few days. I will attach these original (unedited) photographs below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once I had gathered every single photograph that achieved the desired feeling, I used an app called “Canva” To put together this unique composition.
Tumblr media
After I made a collage of every photograph, I used Lightroom to edit the coloring and Canva to add text saying “happiness! In this next section I will reveal the final composition with photographs taken on my Canon Rebel T6 camera. When you first look upon this piece, ponder what mood is being given off and how it makes you feel before reading my intentions while creating this art.
Form- The Media
Tumblr media
Content- The Mean
I call this piece, “Happiness-In Real Smiles.” I came up with this idea when I had a conversation with one of my friends about how real smiles and pure happiness is rarely captured on camera. Normal smiles captured are staged and posed instead of genuine. This conversation gave me the brilliant idea to use my camera to capture real smiles. To do this, I made sure not to tell anyone in these photographs what I was doing that way their smiles were more authentic. Each person I photographed means the world to me and I had the most amazing time showing what I have learned from taking ARH2000 this summer...that we create art and art creates us.

Object of Affection
For @gothamsworst because your entire penguin tag has put into me a great fire to write a sheepish significant other for him.  Mind you, I haven’t written fanfiction since high school so forgive me if I get something wrong (I’m still getting into DC and my parents think it’s embarrassing because I had a lobo phase out of high school.)
Notes: confessions of love; sfw (some slight implications at the end but it cuts off because that’s not going on this blog here); aw, gee, he brought a bouquet of flowers; hey who ordered flirting because here’s some; several headcanons in one go let’s go people; I can write pretty words I just mostly refuse to in favor of making it all comics instead; idea of flirting is just walking up with a bouquet and going “marry me”; I don’t know what I’m doing I’ve never written this guy before.
EDIT: fixed some things.
Stuck between yearning for love and the fear of rejection was a difficult place to be. It was at least easier to know rejection than it was to have yearning for love going totally unanswered.  Oh, what pain it was.
Oswald Cobblepot, that troublesome Penguin known about Gotham as one hell of a man to cross, was madly in love.  Yes, an unfortunate feeling to have.  But he couldn’t help it.  Not this time, at least.
It was someone he’d seen around the lounge, lurking nearby where he’d watch the penguins. When he saw them around and was able to not make it awkward, he couldn’t help but stare at those eyes all green and deep like some dark thicket.  And those venomous eyes did plenty of staring back: he could feel their gaze fixated on him whenever he was working at the lounge.
Really, though, what did he know about this crush that had taken his entire heart by a single blow?  Well, he knew enough.  His eyes about Gotham told him that they weren’t much of anything besides a total hermit: mostly stayed home at a ground-floor apartment in a low-rent yet slightly decent part of town (as decent as the city could be, anyway), and had everything that was needed for living delivered to their door.  No car: only ever ventured out on a trike with a headlight on the front and a trunk on the back.  He wasn’t even sure what they did for a living.
At the very least Oswald knew he could find them lurking around the lounge.  So, that’s exactly where he went.
Of course, such an event was not something to go into completely unprepared.  He pulled out a nice suit, as usual, with all the fine accoutrements he was well-known for.  An umbrella in one hand and a large bouquet of bloody red roses in the other.  Even went out of the way to pick out cologne, albeit he preferred not to.  He wanted to make the best impression he could.
It was just that odd hour before the post-work rush.  Oswald hoped he’d not come in on a wrong night.  Trying not to draw too much attention, he made a long sort of awkward path over to where they usually were.
There they were, right at that surprisingly bare table he got used to passing by.  There was a pencil case pushed to one side, and it sat next to a tall glass of what he thought might be soda (of course, he wasn’t about to just try it: that would be a bit too much).  They were hunched over something in front of them, and their hands moved quickly with a pencil and a brush.
“Excuse me, my dear,” started Oswald, with a soft tone so as to not scare this beloved mystery away, “but is this table taking guests?”
They jumped.  Oswald feared he’d gone too fast.  Oh, wonderful, now he’d scared them off!
They looked up and met his eyes.  What was once a terrified look behind thick glasses quickly melted into something tender and rather curious.  “Oh.”  Their voice had an astoundingly flat affect, hinting at an origin out in midland farming country with the slight tint to it.  They cleared their throat, and moved their bag to the other side.  “S-sure thing, sir, sure.  Wasn’t expecting anyone to be over here tonight.  Normally people only ever come over to ask for free work from me.”  Their voice was soft and quiet as they spoke: an absolutely adorable sound that hit just right in his ears.  He could listen to it talk forever.
“Excellent.”  Oswald sat down directly next to them, putting the umbrella to rest on the seat beside him.
Their face quickly changed colors.  It went from a sickly pale in the lowlight to being absolutely taken over with blush.  “R-right, s-sure.  Please, forgive me for asking, but haven’t I seen you around here before?”
“Of course you would have seen me here before,” said Oswald, rolling his eyes slightly.  “I own this lounge, after all.”
“Oh, I…” They stopped for a moment, and their mouth was slightly agape as they appeared to slowly mentally register the weight of the situation.  Then their eyes shot wide open and they gave up a nervous smile with chattering teeth. “M-Mr. Cobblepot, sir.  I-I-I didn’t think I was something you’d… well, y’know, actually come over to see?”
“Quite the contrary,” said Oswald, moving in closer and putting an arm around their shoulder.  “You’ve captured my attention with how much you care about my darlings.  I see you in here and I can’t help but wonder if you’re some kindred soul.”  He gestured just slightly over at the centerpiece of the lounge, the namesake iceberg with a whole group of penguins he often spent hours watching on his days off.
They looked over to where he gestured, and then they nodded quickly.  The nervousness quickly got itself out of that smile, and their entire posture melted into one of repose.  “Your penguins, right.  Right, the penguins!  Of course! They’re so cute: little communal flipper birds that just waddle around and honk and preen all day.”  They sighed and smiled, leaning forward and putting their head to rest in their hand.   “What I wouldn’t give for a life so carefree.”
Oswald immediately had a few ideas come to mind.  Oh, he could take care of that: he could just bring them into his life and get them out of that awful apartment, pamper them with anything and everything they could ever want.  Ask them to move in with you.  Ask them for a date.  Ask them to share a drink.  No, no, no, that’s all too fast!  Play it slowly: perhaps they’ll melt into your arms if you go ahead just right.
“How often are you around here, hm?”  Oswald looked over from behind his monocle at this mystery figure that had caught his attention and proceeded to hold it in a vice-like grip, taking a moment to look at what he was dealing with.  Their figure was mostly obscured by big, bulky articles of clothing, but what could be made out was all thick and rolled together like some haphazard cake stacked up far too high for its own good.  It was very easy to look at.  “You seem to know enough about my precious little birds.”  “Perhaps a bit too much” was a phrase he wanted to add, but he wasn’t about to murder this feeling.
“I don’t really drink alcohol.  I only really come here to draw the iceberg and all the penguins,” said the mystery crush. “They’re so fun to smush together with their little shapes.  Their little flippers are so cute.  And their little feet are surprisingly complex once you get past all the flub and feathers.”
Oh, one of those artist types.  Wait, artist type.  Artist. Oh, this could be good: this could actually be really good for several different reasons!  Not just the romantic pursuit reason, either: perhaps their passion for the arts would include, somewhere in there, a passion for him.
“I see.” Oswald reached for the pad of paper they were so vigilantly guarding and said, “I can’t help but have a look at someone’s work regarding my darlings.”
A sickly pale hand with chewed-down nails shot over and clamped in on Oswald’s wrist. “Just a second there, Mr. Cobblepot. You have to promise me something first.”
   “Anything, my sweet, anything.”
“Don’t tell anyone what you see in this book.  It’s a lot of… well, it’s… bad.”
“Oh, I will most certainly be the judge of that.”  Oswald picked up the book, and then handed them the bouquet in return.  “Here, something for you to hold in the meantime.”
Noting their shocked expression as they carefully took the bouquet in their arms, Oswald began to slowly browse through the contents of the book.
What they had said was indeed true: there were a lot of penguins in there.  They were doing all sorts of things: preening their coats, honking, spread out on their stomachs staring at each other, ambling across the ice.  They were all partway realistic, but there was some sort of fantastical flair to them. It was cute: just like them.
While flipping through the pages, though, he couldn’t help but notice other pieces. Things like the name of the lounge written out in poster type pieces with his penguins and their little iceberg on it.  There was, undeniably, a unique work of a penguin in a suit like his.  Curious, he turned the page.
And what he saw there surprised him greatly.
It was not only drawings of patrons with little notes about time scrawled around them that occupied the pages, but there were drawings of him as well.  Little notes here and there about the things he’d wear, the way he’d talk, and the way he moved.  Around one particular piece underlaid with purple markings was a portrait of him smiling: the note around this piece said “Handsome guy but who?”  It was surrounded by little scribbled hearts.
Oswald, in his stroke of peacock vanity that got to him every now and again, turned his head slightly as he was gently urged by these things.  “I see that you draw more than birds.”
The mystery crush looked over.  They caught a look of what pages he’d come to and they grimaced before sighing and hiding their face in their hands.  “Sorry about that.  I-I draw people a lot, just to stay aware of how to do it.”
“It seems you’ve become quite taken with me in these intimate studies,” said Oswald, casting a rather tempered gaze and a matching grin over at the object of his affections as he handed back the book.  “I must admit, I came here tonight thinking you wouldn’t reciprocate the feelings that brought me to you in the first place.”
“Oh, wow, feelings?”  The mystery crush smiled and chuckled ever so softly, rubbing their hand along the back of their neck as they took the book and put it back on the table.  “Goodness gracious, Mr. Cobblepot, I didn’t expect a gentlemanly type like yourself to be the romantic type.”
“Oh, but isn’t a gentleman always the romantic type?”  Oswald, emboldened by such a soft response, couldn’t help but to pull them in closer.  When they began to blush again, he grinned and pressed a gloved finger to their nose. “I can’t exactly help it.  And please, just call me Oswald.” He then picked up one of their hands and pressed a single, fervent kiss to it.
“Ah, uh, I guess so,” said the mystery crush, “mister… oh, right, Oswald.  Right, first name basis now.”  Their face was getting hotter by the minute, and they began to stammer over all their words as they put the bouquet on the table.  “I, uh… would, would you be offended if I asked you something kinda personal?”
Oswald could already picture several personal questions and perfect little answers to go along with them.  He nodded and held their hands in his.  “Oh, but of course, my dear: anything you ask for, you’ll get it from me.”
“Oh.” The mystery crush nodded, their glasses falling down their face in the meantime.  When Oswald reached up and pushed them back to their previous position, they cleared their throat and quickly stammered out, “If you feel so strongly about me, would you mind if I moved in?  I, uh… they hiked the rent on my place again and I have to find a new one before the end of the month.  Don’t make enough.”
“Would I mind?  Of course not, dearest bird, of course not.  I have far too many places that need a colorful touch like yours.  You can come with me tonight, if it pleases you, my dear.”
“You don’t have to be so heavy-handed with all the compliments.”
“Oh, but I believe you deserve every last one of them.”
“You’re far too kind.”  The mystery crush sighed.  “I hate to tell you this now, after all those compliments and affectionate talk, but I’m kind of a handful, I’m… look, I’m trans and if you’re not into a guy like me, I’m sorry.  I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m- I’m sorry.  We can just go away from this table and never speak about this again.  It… it’ll be fine if we do that.”
“Oh, now you just listen to me.”  Oswald put his hands to the mystery crush’s face and leaned it over so they were looking at him. “I don’t rightly care about whether you’re trans or not, and I’ll fund that for you so you can be happy.  You’re just far too pretty of a kindred spirit to be left so alone in such a big city.”
“I…” The mystery crush looked baffled. They froze for a moment or two, and Oswald wondered if he had said too much.  After a long silence, they sighed and smiled so big and soft that it couldn’t help but bring him to smile as well.  “Wow.  Thanks.”
“Oh, you’re ever so welcome, my dear.”  Oswald pressed his face up to theirs and quickly asked, “May I?”
“May you… oh, right.  Right! Yes, you may, Oswald.  You most certainly may!”
With that, Oswald couldn’t help but press a kiss to their lips.  Their lips were slightly chapped, and he couldn’t help but nuzzle his face just slightly against theirs in some affectionate attempt to bring intimacy to such a moment.  This move, while unexpected at first, was quickly reciprocated as their hands took hold of his shoulders.
Oswald pulled away with a troublesome little grin spread across his lips, and the object of all those affections smiled like this sort of intimacy was brand new to them. “I can’t help but wonder what your name is.”
“Look, my name is…”  They stopped for a moment, but then they smiled and just said, “Call me Lou for now. I can’t think of a name that belongs to me.”
“Then let’s find that out together.”  Oswald took his umbrella up and moved to stand, offering his hand to Lou.  “Come, I can have a crew bring your things to our home tomorrow.  Tonight, we shall simply be enamored little lovebirds.”
Lou laughed.  Their laugh sounded like the call of a bird, with its dragged-out syllables and its pitch. They snorted just slightly as they packed up their things.  “You’re very honest, Oswald.  I like that.  I like that a lot.”
“What’s a little honesty between significant others?”  Oswald smiled and shrugged his shoulders.
Lou put their bag back on their shoulders and put their hand in Oswald’s as they stood up.  They weren’t much taller than him, and those assumptions he had made about their figure were correct.  “It’s a lot. Let’s go.”
Oswald only put his arm around them as the two gently went hand-in-hand to where his driver waited.
“What are the plans for this evening, Oswald?”
“Oh, I do believe I have a few ideas beginning to come to be.  Just you be patient, my sweet, I’ll tell you when we’re alone.”

2019-2020
The following lists are all in chronological order according to the date each post was first published.
Top 10 panel edits:
Tumblr media
#1: It's our first morning
Date: Aug 20th, 2020 Time: ~ 2:18 h I really like how this one turned out!!! The 2020 Emma b-day edit has a lot of major panel redraws, but this is probably my favorite. I I really enjoy how I made the shadows work!! And the ear banfage looks pretty neat. Nice!!! Immagine
Tumblr media
#2: Norman birthday edit 2021
Date: Mar 20th, 2021 Time: ~ 2:21 h Awww, soft Norman :') There was a bit to redraw, but I think everything turned out pretty neat!!! I believe everything works out fine. Though looking back at it, the part of the ID I added is definitely top small :')
Tumblr media
#3: Manga dub: Yuugo gets knocked out
Date: Mar 27th, 2021 Time: ~ 5:05 h Here start the Manga Dub redraws to which I gave my everything ahah. This one turned out nice! I think the shoes turned out particularly good eheh. I like how Yuugo's clothing lineart- for the texture, I wanted to go for something heterogeneous, but I'm not fully confident in the final result. Gilda looks very rushed but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Tumblr media
#4: Manga dub: Yuugo makes his dramatic entrance
Date: Apr 5th, 2021 Time: ~ 4:02 h This is pretty cool!!!! The coat took ages to redraw, but sis it turned out perfect!!! I'm very proud of this.
Tumblr media
#5: Manga dub: RayGildEmma hug!!!
Date: Apr 9th, 2021 Time: ~ 1:31 h Awww, a beautiful panel I was really happy to have the chance to redraw. Taking into account what there was to redraw, I'm actually surprised with how little this took! Ray's backpack was a pain to make, but I think it turned out fine. I'm very happy with Emma and Ray's heads!!
Tumblr media
#6: Manga dub: Formalities
Date: Apr 12th, 2021 Time: ~ 5:31 h It is not always easy to give sense to Demizu's perspective, but I do my best!!! In this I am *so* happy with how Don and Ray turned out, they look neat! The background on the other hand... It took hours to make ahah. I'm not fully confident in the perspective, but I'm happy with the details I've added- I really did my best to make it look like athe other manga panels and I think it paid off!!!
Tumblr media
#7: Manga dub: We may be weaklings, but we're still alive
Date: Apr 30th, 2021 Time: ~ 1:37 h This little Emma is so cute!!!!!! I think the redraw turned out pretty perfect. I'm really satisfied with how this one turned out, and it's such a cute little Emma!!!! She's so brave and optimistic, I love her. It's a shame this panel didn't make it to the episode :')
Tumblr media
#8: Manga dub: Goldy Pond Gang
Date: May 7th, 2021 Time: ~ 8:44 h lmao This is probably the panel redraw I'm the most proud of ever :') Just think everyone turned out very nice!! The ceiling is not exactly perfect, but it still works somehow. I'm very happy with how Gillian's back turned out!! I don't really like the fading effect on the right, but 8h in I got pretty tired of working on this ahah
Tumblr media
#9: Manga dub: This is Goldy Pond
Date: May 21st, 2021 Time: ~ 1:29 h I'm very glad for how the Manga dub has been challenging me to learn to redraw backgrounds, something I had quite literally never tried before. It can be a little frustrating, but it's so satisfying to see the final cleaned piece!! With this panel, I also learnt to use copy and paste, which is something I had never done before beyond texture
Tumblr media
#10: Manga dub: Good morning doctor
Date: May 21st, 2021 Time: ~ 3:42 h This is another background that turned out pretty good!! That one Norman is one I knew I would have had to fully redraw sooner or lager- the background was a bonus ahah. I'm very happy with the final result!!
Top 5 edits as whole:
#1: The Promised Neverland manga ending edit
Date: Jun 14th 2020 Time: ~ 12h 41min (5h 45min of cleaning panels in the edit + 5h 37min of cleaning panels that didn't make it to the edit + 1h 19min of resizing) + time spent cleaning panels I've deleted the file of so I can't see lmao This is overall very nice!!! The concept of an Emma evolution through her back is cool, and I think overall the edit turned out very aesthetically pleasing. The concept idea came to me while I was working on the 2019 Emma's birthday edit, a long time before the manga ending announcement- back then I wouldn't have imagined using it in occasion of the manga ending, but I think it ended up making a nice tribute. The colors add a nice touch, since so far my edits had always been black and white- it makes a sweet closure. To make that edit I selected 76 panels of Emma framed from her back; I plan to make other versions of that edit using the discarded panels eventually!
#2: Emma - Chapter 181: Beyond Destiny
Date: Jul 12th 2020 Time: 2h 57min My last edit for the manga 🥺🥺 I think this one is my very "manga ending edit" because to me it really signed the ending of weekly chapters and their weekly chapter edits. It makes me a little sad to look at it, but it's also, I don't know, kinda sweet to see how I grew both in my panel cleaning and as a person since I first started my blog. I'm glad I got into TPN!
#3: Emma birthday edit 2020
Date: Aug 22nd 2020 Time: 8h 54min This one turned out so well!!! Though I used the same concept for all the trio edits, I think this one is the best one. The two panels on the left / two panels on the right alternation combo never fails ahah. The colors are nice (shout-out to my sister for making me a palette), despite the fact that it was hard for the lighter ones to make them work with the images without having those disappear. I'm very satisfied with the panels I chose for this, I think they work really good together! Also, it got me very happy to read everyone's comments saying they liked the fading effect in the last panel :)
#4: Emma + Eyes Close Ups [1/?]
Date: Jan 24th 2021 Time: 5h 55min This one was really nice!! Another idea I got when working on the 2019 Emma birthday edit I was glad to finally execute. Started the edit in September, finished it in December. I'm overall very happy with how it turned out... I hope I will be able to make more in the future!
#5: The Promised Neverland Parallels → (9/?) » 114 // 122
Date: Feb 23th 2021 Time: 5h 7min (panel cleaning only) Aaaaahh I really like this one!!!! A parallel I love very much, and I'm really happy with how the edit turned out. All the hair redrawing looks neat!!!! The gif is maybe a little excessive, but I think overall it's a nice edit. I like it!!! Fun fact, I completed it on August 26th 2020, but I couldn't find the right moment to post it ahah.
Honorable mention: The Promised Neverland Parallels → (5/?) » 08 // 16
Date: Aug 30th 2020 Time: 2h 52min (Second picture cleaning only; I deleted the first picture art file so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) I don't have much to say about this one except!! It turned out very nice!!!!! Love the pen lmao.
Top 10 analysis:
Too many analysis,,
#1: Post chapter 181 Emma analysis
Date: Jul 9th 2020 Mmmh a nice analysis. I think it was important for me to put down in words what I think of Emma's characterization and the manga ending, so I'm happy I did it!
#2: A long Oliver analysis because I love him very much
Date: Dec 6th 2020 What can I say I just love Oliver tons 😔😔💕💕 This was very fun to make!!!
#3: TPN s2 previsions
Date: Jan 14th 2021 Really love the effort that went into this + me proving that 11 episodes GP could have possibly worked + it's just a lot of fun to read again after s2 ended pffft
#4: More s2 delusional previsions lmao
Date: Jan 27th 2021 I think the points and previsions I made where pretty neat!! In my defense, it was pretty impossible to predict the anime would have ended with this season. I always feel honoured when friends and Anon ask for my opinion, I'm like "you wanna know what I think? Wow. I'm flattered (◍•ᴗ•◍) " Thank you to anyone who ever sent me an ask!!
#5: Why Emma not wearing pants is 𝕨𝕣𝕠𝕟𝕘
Date: Jan 29th 2021 Really proud of this!!! Pants Emma is important!!!!!
#6: Post episode 5 manga Emma analysis
Date: Feb 4th 2021 A depressed analysis, but a necessary one 😔
#7: Norman analysis
Date: Feb 12th 2021 I love him!!!! And I'm happy I eventually got to put down in words what I love about his character. The day I posted this ww3.readneverland was in maintenance so I couldn't use the volume scans for it- the thought of that post having fan edited and fan translated scans still haunts me
#8: RayDon rambles
Date: May 12th 2021 I had a blast writing this and like. It's likely the post of mine I reread more often of them all. I love this ship tons!!!!! I'm satisfied with how I put down in words what I like about them. I LOVE THIS SHIP
#9: Chapter 58 analysis
Date: May 23th 2021 I've wanted to express this concept since like the first time reading the manga- I'm so happy I finally did!!!! This concept is one of my absolute favorite things about tpn- the feelings that people are good. The concept that kids who got to live in an healthy and supportive environment will always be inclined to kindness and altruism, because humans are just inherently good. From the Three Character Classic: “people at birth are inherently good”. I want to have faith and courage to hold on the goodness in myself, and to hold on the goodness in the world, no matter how difficult it to do that (Chloé Zhao).
#10: Norman and Lambda squad relationship analysis
Date: May 24th 2021 I think this was a pretty sharp analysis and I like what I did with it!!
Other stuff:
#1: Krone birthday edit
Date: Jul 15th 2020 This edit is so good ;; Like not perfect since it was my first attempt at coloring gifs but still I believe it turned out so good ;;;;;; The time and effort that went unto this is crazy, but... Maybe I'm happy to have dedicated time to something I like for a satisfying result.
#2: Get to know my ship- Wolfpack Trio
Date: Aug 24th 2020 Uuuh a good post. A good ship.
#3: Gilda + blank glasses
Date: Aug 27th 2020 This is such a cute nice compilation!!! I love looking at it. A few panels are missing but still :')
#4: Apollo Ray AU
Date: Sep 7th 2020 (Though it was written Sep 2nd 2019 lmao) I'm so happy I finally gathered the courage to post this 😭😭 I really enjoy what I did with this AU, so this one and its other installments are all posts I have a lot of fun rereading. More than everything, I was astounded and overjoyed by the positive response it got: that gave me tons of confidence to put my ideas out there, no matter how unique they sound!!! Here's to hoping I will be able to post my RayEmma Hadestown AU, by other big AU from late summer 2019 :')
#5: TPN timeline project
Date: Dec 2nd 2020 This is like. I don't know it's a lot ahah. Arguably the project I'm the most proud of ever making. I'm just so happy of all the months long hard work and of the final result!! The post didn't receive much response (though the ones I got were extremely kind and sweethearted so that totally makes up for it), but in the end I don't really mind? I'm just so proud I accomplished that idea :')
#6: TPN calendar
Date: Jan 4th 2021 A nice sum of the tpn timeline + everyone's birth dates!!! I really like how it turned out visually. It's a cute little tpn calendar!!!
#7: Ray smiles compilation
Date: Jan 17th 2021 Ray's smile. That's it that's the post :')
#8: Trans Oliver headcanons
Date: Jan 24th 2021 MMMH really like this headcanon I think about it a lot

#13: TPN Drive folder
Date: May 30th 2021 This was born as a way for me to have all the tpn extra contents easily accessible, but I'm happy to have shared it with people- I hope it will turn out to be useful to others too!

Brother Dearest Pt 78
Tumblr media
Home a day early Norma exploded with anxious energy to be near her daughter who was confused to the meaning of the day, her first birthday. A cake was able to distract her mother and herself from that awkward energy for the beginning of their three day weekend together so Victor could take you to a stop at the studio to help with a possible new bout of ideas to refurbish the Cap comics. Still no one seemed to be able to come up with anything substantial except for a cross of the Howling Commandoes who would run into your animated family alongside Peggy’s alter ego. Which you all took off with that idea had came up with at least five different issues worth of them to mingle in the planned plot lines already animated and ready to be sent out when it was due to be printed. Quite gladly the guys had loved your pregnancy as now with these new ideas you had editions well through this year and into the next if anything should distract from the creative process.
.
Just past the hall with your last projects on display atop podiums you entered the workshop as people still milled around each choice inspecting each. Including yours which was a miniature town. Half a mine complete with a track for little carts and the other half a town encircled by a river. All of it powered by the waterwheel that moved the mechanics in the layer beneath the surface of the entire town. Streets between homes had lights on each corner with antique style lamp posts with two bulbs in them that switched colors at the filling and emptying of water tubes fed by that same wheel. Cars on tracks drove between the wooden homes to finish off the scene and impressed your Professor for how complex the mechanics were to the simplistic upper display.
Your place in the class came with questions but with ease at home in the shop the men around you relaxed at fears of tears or pestering questions to distract them. Now the main distraction came for the awe striking ways you got around the difficulties your size a half to a whole foot shorter than all of them to get things done and how naturally you knew various advanced tools and had no fear in using them. Today however you came with a spare bag of clothes that to the amusement of your classmates out of your heels you stepped and flicked unfolded at your side the trousers you brought. Pulling them on over the skirt of your dress you tucked that and the flannel you added into the top and secured the cloth belt you added next. Thick socks and your work boots came next showing much use to each press of your feet into the opposite knee to tie them and lower to repeat the step.
Unable to help it as you tucked your heels into your bag the Professor gave you a once over after having seen the others had swapped their dress shirts for thicker work shirts and as you wound your ponytail and bangs back into a bun underneath a bandana he greeted you all. “Good to see you’ve all come ready to get some grease on those elbows. We have a new project for you to finish off the summer semester. Out of solid steel each of you will be creating something that has a function. It must be a minimum of six feet tall and two feet wide, please no windmills, there will be a supply near each of your stations and in the supply room. I want you all to think long and hard about what you want to make and how you would create that function in hopefully an ingeniously new way. You will only have the time in class when we meet so no spare after class time or weekends. So manage your tasks properly and keep to a schedule as best as you can.”
His eye shifted to you as you raised your hand and he nodded your way in his usual signal to speak, “Does it have to do a job or just do something?”
Across his lips a smirk tugged and he answered, “It just has to do something, make it light up, make it move, be unique. I repeat no windmills.” He said and motioned his hand to the side for you all to head to your stations. Right away he and his aid chuckled at your usual pop up onto the counter that reached your ribs to reach the gloves and apron in your cubby assigned with your name on tape laid across the edge of it.
Sons of mechanics, car enthusiasts, electricians and builders filled the class on their way to get their Engineering degrees to join the family profession and to their amusement with your own ideas you seemed to be fairly at the same level of skill as the group who was used to building models and things since they were little. Once the spare layers were added and you had taken a few minutes to simply stare at the sheet of steel resting on the mount there to hold it upright to think of what to make. The smirk that tugged across your lips intrigued the Professor and his aid that something interesting was coming as your mind had come up with something. In the same stunning fashion your tiny self eased the sheet of metal a foot taller and two feet longer than your body off the mount and onto the cutting stand you had made the first week in for your shorter self. You knelt on top of that to use just a couple feet off the ground compared to the waist high ones the guys used with ease at possession of longer arms and legs.
With cutting torch in hand over the numerous chalk outlines the sound of metal falling echoed in your ears between sounds of the others at their own stations working with hammers or torches of their own who weren’t still on the design on notepads. Around each station the Professor moved with his aid in opposing paths to get a sense of what you all were doing, notepads in hand to make notes while students as usual stood outside the windowed wall to peer in at what you all were doing. That angle especially helped to add images of yourself and the guys for the yearbook the school had for even the summer semester as well. When the metal was spent and left to just outlines into sections you cut what remained with a smirk hidden by your face shield at the perfect alignment of metal shapes to be part of the body you required. Just one layer but as usual you strove to not waste an inch of the metal or supplies given and set those aside to begin on the mechanics.
Gears, rods, all fashioned down with sanders and buffers for a smooth finish and even on a few securing grooves to be used later to lock things into place all were wound together with or near to wires and conduits for pathways of motion. All the Professor could see but the end of the day was the sheets of metal in the cutout mount along the wall. Noted with tape to not be used for scrap by others and a clump of a motor nearly the size of your body with octopus like mess of limbs that he saw you link small switches and levers to the whirring core that after the charge from the center mechanics you had wound like a clock began to slow left no hint at all what any of it could be meant for. But that was it and for the next day he would have to simply steal glances at the chunks of your projects to try and figure out what they were meant to do until the next class when he could see some more progress on the lifeless piles of metal.
.
“You look excited,” Victor hummed as James took hold of your bags with a kiss on your temple.
James smirked saying to the scent of metal shards on your hair and skin, “You’ve been welding again.”
“I’m building a moose.” You said making them chuckle as you delved into the new project you had been given.
James said, “Well a moose will certainly be large enough for the size requirements. What are you going to make it do?”
“Walk and move around,” you said widening their grins. “It’ll be risky but I think I can pull it off even if I have to sneak in some magic to do it.”
“I’m certain you can, Pipsqueak.”
Ten days had gone and flew by as again before the crack of dawn tears came and the now the three spotted children showed the final steps of the chicken pox that had upheaved the household. And after a trio of oatmeal baths for 20 minutes the babies now with socks tied into their hands were put back to bed until they woke for the next round of baths and calamine lotion to soothe the itchy patches away until they were gone.
.
Mr Fenske again had your morning. And through the afternoon while you couldn’t work on your project you brainstormed and practically filled a notebook with diagrams and plans for what exactly to do when you got back to the shop the following day to hopefully get done with plenty of time to spare and polish the giant moose up for its big debut. Sleep wasn’t hard to gain with the rain. Though by morning said rain made it a bit difficult to want to leave your still groggy girls who barely made it through breakfast but you still did simply to get the next attendance points closer to credits to get you your Bachelor’s degrees by next summer and onto the way to your Masters then Doctorates. You made plans and in sticking to them you could only make a great example for your girls to be what they wanted to, even if it didn’t involve as much schooling as you were pushing yourself through.
.
Back inside the second Art History class notice of a change was evident on everyone’s faces to the lack of a model or item to focus on and the Professor’s place in the front of the floor to say when you had all arrived. “For your final projects there will be no model given to you. You will supply your own muse and in the style of a painting Master you will complete two paintings of at least 12x16 each that will center around a single memory. Something that is not well known about your life, a moment of unadulterated trust. They must be a pair and be supported by a description of the memory that you all will present at the gallery at the end of this semester where each of the pieces you have completed in every class will be displayed for others to view and comment. This is your final exam, take it seriously and do not disappoint me.”
Monet’s style seemed to be something you could adapt into whatever you decided to paint. Back to Monet’s paintings your mind wandered and in the various chosen models for each of those with people in them his main focus on landscapes had you think of something that would not be another copy of one of his works. Your brain however looped back to that brothel and onto the first sheet of your sketch pad to mock up what you would paint James with his coat over his head and cigar in hand made an amusing image with details of a plume of smoke along with the beams of light from the milky curtain coated window could make for something unique. And with it would be James in that bathtub with his boots and uniform on the floor still with hold of that cigar.
There wasn’t much of your private life you wanted to share, namely your courtship with James, but you hoped he wouldn’t mind having the back of his arms, head and shoulder blades in display for however many people would be attending this gallery showing. On major project turned to two and you just wanted to get this over with. Normally you liked your Professors but this class couldn’t come to an end soon enough even if you did get along well with those from your other courses. Basic details on the first scene with him against the door was begun on a fairly decent sized easel above the required size in a means to get what details you wanted included without compromise. Anatomy and Physiology was a welcome distraction and after Communication you were free to get back to your moose.
Once in your work layers to the side of your list of necessary parts you crouched with cutter in hand to add more body pieces to the pile to assemble later. Some you left flat while others made use of the rolling press the Professor and his aid enjoyed the glimpses of hidden strength you displayed in warping the metal to your needs, each rotation of that crank took a certain amount of strength to get the bend required. While others were slid into the other metal press that with a lever bent the sections at whatever straight angle possible with enough force. Every piece only added more mystery for how they blended together until from the mess after a bit of welding around the internal support rods and gears to work the joints properly and still be able to withstand the weight of all needed to in every movement.
With the internal mechanism and the cutting mainly done now it was easier, simply overlaying the outer shell. Carefully each leg was fashioned together and down every joint tested for smooth motion you required from the different swaying sections that while still seemed a whole piece until the motion began and every joint showed its purpose to shift and then come back to its place in smooth circular motion similar to how actual moose move in real life. Rope in hand once the supporting frame you’d worked out that looked more like axels on a car of simple rods fashioned together you stood tying a wrench to one end then looking up at the only higher form of support you had, the metal beams in the rafters. There was a pulley but the chain had snapped and it was too far up and too little used to warrant replacing it yet somehow a decade later. So this was what you were left to. One end of the rope was tied to one of the legs and with a good toss the wrench flew up and over the beam above your station to fall straightening the rope with it.
The motion and fall of the wrench helped to lift the leg a couple inches off the ground at one end and with a hold of the wrench with an easy pull the leg came upright off the ground and lured the gaze of the amused Professor at your self made pulley. Securely on the ground around the support rods, that balanced on top of a stool, the hoof was settled and with an easy loop of some twine from one of the cutouts through the holes drilled into the end of the support rod the hopeful anchor was tied with an easy to remove bow. Grip of the second front leg proved you were making a hooved creation and off your shoulder you moved the leg into perfect alignment and tied it off after a few confirming checks that it was straight.
Three legs soon grew to four and from the ground and from the leg the rope was removed to fashion like a noose around a series of hooked straps linked to the belly plate now welded to the inner mechanism that with a good firm grip what a woman your size shouldn’t be able to lift the three hundred pound motor and plate with ease was gradually lifted from the ground where you had left it to be. Once the rope was tied at the right height to the leg of your workstation it was wiggled into the right alignment to lessen the strain of the rope as each edge came to rest perfectly in the connecting mounts.
Both bolted and welded down into place the security was tested amusingly for those who looked over at your grips on each leg and end of the lower half of the body to give it several firm shakes to test the stability of everything with mental checks of how it felt to ensure it wouldn’t collapse or move in a way that anything would get locked up. Down the legs the mechanics were lowered and using long necked allen wrenches you secured the screws into place before you began to work the body frame up for the sides and back with a start on the neck mount to go around the support rod from the belly mount that the mechanics there were anchored to.
The basic shape of the head came to life and atop that came antlers that rather uniquely was where the controls there was mounted underneath to be closer to the ears that it would control. Kneeling atop the workstation that you merely used to house the next part up or the tools needed the head came to life widening the grins on the faces of the Professor and his aid. Both who were beyond amused at the creature you had chosen. Amongst the other students who chose things from a giant nutcracker to a mechanical hammer wielding figure that did little else than lift and lower said hammer opposite the rotating carousels and even a tree with branches that wiggled and could be used to hold items on the trays welded atop them you had chosen the boldest design. And the most curious. Surely you had to have something up your sleeve, there had to be more to the moose than what they were able to see.
“Well, well, well, it would appear you all are getting along swimmingly in just two days.” The Professor stated as you all began to clean up for the day, including yourself who accepted help from another taller student to cover your moose with a sheet as others had done for their own projects. Turned around when you released the end of the sheet in your hands you looked the Professor over seeing that he was clearly up to something with that spreading smirk of his. “And when we meet again you will find a fresh supply of sheet metal at each of your work stations. Those supplies will be pertinent in creating a second miniature partner of what you have already produced. Four feet tall and one foot wide minimum. It does not have to be an exact copy but it does have to be related to the initial creation.”
Groans from the guys however were muddled by giggles from yourself in a momentary rest of your head against the side of your moose out of the sheer amount of work that would have to go into making a second moose from scratch the next day you would be in this class. The day was over for you at least and when you got home you could focus on your girls again and simply leave the planning to the weekend while they napped for a game plan to get the ball rolling on a baby moose. Need for a good meal and a nap read across your face and had James ask, “Who am I punching?”
In a giggle you shook your head and melted into his offered hug. “I have to make a second moose.”
The pair chuckled and when James took hold of your things Victor gave you his own hug and he hummed, “We stole a glimpse at your moose. Well done. Have to be the same size?”
“Half the size of it. It doesn’t have to be a moose, just has to be related but the only thing my brain can think of moose related is moose.” The pair smirked and you said, “We’ve just got two more classes until semester is over and we have to present things.” You glanced up at James, “I can paint you in the tub, right?” That had an awkward grin split across his face and you said, “We have to paint a memory, I picked at the brothel that one time. But you won’t mind?”
“You can paint me however you like, Darling,” he said leaning in to steal a quick kiss. “I look forward to seeing it.”
“Two its, so I have to paint two paintings and build two moose. Then show them in presentations.”
Victor smiled asking, “Do we get to keep the moose?”
“I don’t know,” you answered in a giggle. “I don’t know what they expect them to be used for or if they will want us to destroy them.”
“We are not destroying your moose,” they both said.
Victor, “We’re gonna find the perfect spot for them in our home. Do we get your art too after the gallery or do they expect people to buy them?”
“I think so. We have to share a story for the paintings but I’m not sure if they sell them off, there hasn’t been any talk of that so far.”
Victor, “Hopefully we get to keep those too. And we have cake at home.” He said making you grin up at him, “Petal’s spots are gone. Herc’s giving her a full workup along with the triplets.”
You glanced at James who said, “Belly time tests, they’re doing well, necks are nice and strong, arms show signs that they are almost ready to roll over.”
“At least I haven’t missed that yet.”
James chuckled letting you into the car to sit between them saying, “Well you missed a hell of a tantrum from Teddy.”
“Aww,” you said and they both chuckled.
“He needed a nap. Just got too overwhelmed after his last bath and took a good seven minutes to climb down from that mountain. He has a set of lungs on him that boy. Dawn held firm but Eddie had to take a walk.”
“He always hated it when kids cry. Mama Brock used to joke he’d hate the terrible two’s, but so far he has been a little angel.”
“He has,” Victor hummed. “He calmed down and apologized for throwing his toy. Then said he just wanted to go to sleep and didn’t want to have his check up until after.”
“Well I’ve been on the edge of tears from a check up myself.”
James chuckled, “We all empathize, he spent most of last night up with those baths and calamine lotion applications. Even Eddie needed a nap. Dawn’s mom came over to watch him and Marigold for a bit so they could breathe. It does seem they are all in the clear.”
.
Tummy time was the beginning of your days off and as the trio of girls exercised their heads, necks and arms smiles spread at your nodding off on top of the quilt for a nap that afterwards gave you enough energy to delve into those plans of yours. Alone once the triplets had been put to bed a stolen grip of James’ hands had his smile spread then melt away in the ease of his hands behind your back to lean in and accept the kiss you rose up on your toes to claim. Up from his jaws into his hair your fingers worked in a blind tug to bed as you mentally closed the doors to the room his body followed you to the bed.
Three months had blew by and nearing the end of the summer for the first time since before your belly had begun to grow lost to muffled giggles and broken smile laced utterances of adoration fixed firm in your arms he remained. All night he refused to pull back and break the hold you had on him to savor the romantic return to amorous evenings that were mutually focused. Months you had focused on him as he held himself back to keep you safe and when he had ensured he had pulled on his pants and eased his shirt over you into his arms your body nestled to drop off to sleep. Safe in his arms to whirling dreams as he savored the mixture of his scent and that of his wife’s to the burrow of his forehead into the top of your head. That mixture that while you were in school he could catch hints of on those three girls that by the day improved leaps and bounds to one day be independent little people who would shake up his days to keep them all safe and content.
Herc already had shared that Beserkers never had babies back to back and genetically there would be little chance to conceive before the girls were two years old. Yet that doubt still lingered and pretending as if the same methods of the pill and sleeves that had failed to keep you from conceiving the triplets those methods were picked up again as a sort of call for hope that they might be able to find that goal of two years true before another baby or babies could be arriving. It was just one more year and you would be on the way to graduate studies to do with as you pleased. Seven years wouldn’t be that long for an entire estimate of time to earn them, and there were so many years after that could be quite indescribable for how many possibilities there were with freedom of no school to shuffle between. Even traveling the world could be possible any time you wished if that was what you wanted. He didn’t care as long as you were together and could end each day in one another’s arms.
.
Following final exams with Mr Yarbrough for your History, Geography and Religion courses at home Tuesday again brought on the next to last time you would be on campus. Both your paintings had greater detail and fed into a successful task of carrying out the beginnings of your smaller moose. Thanks to the ample planning the internal mechanism and basic body shape was fashioned on a smaller pallet beside its larger parent. Mother and child as you had intended now was swapped for father and child due to the antlers that were needed to help counter balance the body’s movements.
Followed by a long session with Mr Fenske to take the final exams for your Economics, Government, Political Science and Anthropology on Wednesday the rest of the summer here in Canada would be far simpler as the courses here were in their final week.
On Thursday more exams however would be waiting for you. Art History came first and was a lengthy exam that let you out a bit early to head for your next Art class and mentally prep the plan for the finishing touches on the paintings. Anatomy and Physiology came next for another complex exam you felt a bit anxious for how you might fare on the few essay questions at the end. Communication came last before your final class that held you from freedom with a hefty exam of its own. And when that let out past freed students rushing to savor the end of their own summers with your classmates you walked to head for your Engineering course.
Once there the same Professor who seemed excited to watch the second sculptures come to life began this final class by his posture alone had the guys around you mutter, “No.”
The word making him chuckle and smooth his palms together. “I have one final requirement one final sculpture that is a foot tall or less to go with the previous two.”
Unable to help it you let out an exasperated giggle and hung your head to smooth a hand over the back of your neck for a pose that had one of the guys tease, “Come on Bunny, you can break out another moose.”
Which had his friend say, “Just a tiny one.”
After another giggle you answered, “I am not making another moose.”
Your eyes shifted to the Professor who said, “All your supplies are at your station and in the store room. Good luck.”
At the tall station you stood tapping your pencil to the notepad you had doodled up a few choices and decided on something a bit wild. Gears were the first to be cut again and the inner mechanics were worked out with the bodies to follow. An absurdly large duck was crafted and behind it on wheels that tiny feet were faked to rotate around each rotation and a mechanical chain three ducklings would follow after their mother that would waddle around to the command of the controller you had fashioned at the end of a long string of wires to connect to the inner mechanism.
You weren’t the only one adding smaller details in hopes to not be asked for more to add for the final grading. Each project that spread his proud grin for this latest batch of students who showed promise if they continued this field. All together when the final touches were completed every student cleaned up the stations and made certain all the projects on their pallets were coated with sheets to keep them protected for the following day when they would all be shown for all who chose to come.
.
Early home amongst the rest of your siblings and Erik Norma smiled widely in a stroll through the projects that lined a vast courtyard and surrounding halls the Professors took a stroll through to inspect each piece and took note son how they all worked. Out of sight the empty slot with a metal stand bearing a card with your name on it amongst your classmates’ steadily filling slots there was no trace of you, however Stark and Mr Jarvis both stood waiting for one. Both who smiled and greeted your family promising to be at the painting gallery show as well the following day.
“Ooh, there’s Pipsqueak,” Victor said in a turn after catching sight of you in your mint sleeveless sundress down an empty hall with a pair of men behind you who were pulling two pallets on raised jacks. Smiles spread in curiosity at notice of the familiar silhouette of moose antlers under the larger sheet. Right up next to one another the pallets were lowered and with a bit of help the sheets were removed enabling Stark to move closer and inspect the internal parts as best he could to guess what they could do. The task that had him locate the switches on the side he only got a smirk from you in response of his gesture their way while you listened to James and Erik in proud boasting of what you had built.
When the group of judges did arrive they each looked the trio of creations over and your Professor said, “Now, Mrs Howlett, if you wouldn’t mind.” Eyes watched as you moved a sheet of metal that was forged into a long ramp that had gone unnoticed and was hiding a trio of crank keys shaped like drills for ice fishing that had an outer handle to keep it steady and an internal one to rotate the tip, the largest of which you lifted. Over to the shoulder of the largest moose you inserted the tip into the key hole there and like a clock wound the mechanism until it wouldn’t wind anymore then removed the crank to stun those looking on at the sound of clanks and a growing hum as it powered up readying for movement. The smaller four foot baby moose was cranked next followed by the duck that with a simple flick of the switch started the chuckle luring first step on the pallet.
Back around the baby moose you moved having flicked the switch on its side as you did that on the larger one that turned heads when the front and back left legs lifted to start walking. Open mouthed the crowd looked on as you guided the larger two statues off the pallets to enter the cleared path on the courtyard. Simple toggles of switches had the heads move to turn the pair and another to wiggle the ears.
“Oh my,” one of the judges stated looking in awe over the functioning moose duo that around you as the duck led its ducklings around the path you followed to circle the nearby fountain.
“She made functioning robots…” Howard muttered to himself and glanced at Jarvis only to look back at the sound of the gears slowing down causing the outer plates shifting around the moving joints, back and limb until the pair began to come to a stop as the duck continued to wander around a few moments more.
“How…?” another Professor spoke and you answered, “Well there’s no battery, just crank powered. Since it’s made of hundreds of pounds of solid steel it doesn’t run very long, but I was inspired by Grandfather Clocks.” Another crank of the animals was called for so they could get to test the switches and get closer looks at the moving components inside until the group had to move on and simply the animals were up to being photographed some more back on their pallets that when the demonstration was through were loaded onto the trailer the guys had borrowed from a neighbor to bring the animals home. At least there you and Erik could make them work much longer and improve upon the designs at your whims to at least make the ducks run longer for the older children to play with. And when he sat down for lunch while you started to nurse your girls he asked, “And just how long did they give you to build those?”
.
The following morning wasn’t free of any nerves as the duo were amongst the hundreds who came to this museum sized gallery that had been chosen. Different days the gallery would be filled with each class the Professor instructed and today following the order of how your easels had been lined up you got a few peeks at the other student’s pieces until you found yours in the last section opposite the young woman’s artwork on display. Soon the numbers began to grow and while you tried to answer as many questions on they style as possible you couldn’t ignore the number of cameras being snuck in by those Eddie could tell were from papers throughout Canada. Chatter however in the distance had grown and waned in the path of a particular group.
Salvador Dali, Hemingway, T.S Eliot on a working vacation of sorts had made a stop here today having read about the show in the paper. More than a few pieces inspired by the famed painter got ample comments until saved for last the Professor slid into the room listening to their impressions of each students’ sketches and paintings. Every story shared of the final paintings were noted down and quietly you listened yourself as the other young woman opposite you spoke hers then listened to comments and was freed herself. Finally the crowd who had waited around stood in wait as the group asked you about each sketch that seemed to be more impressive than the last at the varied tries of each style. Including a sketch that was in Dali’s style that made him grin your way, “I just may have to convince you to sell me this one.”
The grin that eased across your face shifted to Hemmingway in his asking about your portraits, “You painted a soldier? Was the roof leaking, that why he’s hiding his head?”
Softly you chuckled and answered, “These are my husband James.” That turned his gaze to you a moment then back to the portrait as you said, “When we were in Europe we made more than a few stops in brothels along the way. This one James got stuck babysitting me and when he found a tub in our hotel next door we could take turns in a few of the guys came upstairs and there wasn’t a lock. So he sat against the door with his coat over his head in my turn, and while I dried and combed my hair he took his own turn.”
Elliot chuckled and said, “It is a striking memory to capture on an easel.”
The Professor asked as Hemmingway moved a bit closer as if to decipher which brothel neighboring a hotel this was, “You stopped in brothels often?”
“No secret men at war crave companionship. Most of the time when we crossed paths with other platoons their men were too distracted by the brothel to notice I was there.”
Hemmingway stated, “Must have been a harrowing trial in your lifetime to be thrown into war so young. We are all amply fortunate you do not exude grimmer angles of those experiences outside of what you publish in your comics.”
A statement which had your Professor state, “Those are fiction.”
A statement that had the author who had been there himself including your arrival at Normandy say, “No, they are not. Saw more than one Battle Bunny and Venom freed city myself. Every issue rings far truer than some might claim to believe.” His eyes locked on you and he said, “I have seen you tear planes from the sky and machine guns from those hill hidden bunkers. To not have chosen to show that is great courage to bear what you have on your heart rather than your wrist.”
Dali said, “And the care you have taken of these shoulder blades, no detail of his strength missed. Bold choice. A show of relaxation and hunched focus and tension, excellent contrast.” Around your back James folded as the Professor gave his own comments and took notes on his way to make another round of everyone’s art to hear what newly arrived people were saying. The artist when he was gone crept closer to your side making you smile as he said, “Do not mind his opinion. You have captured Monet’s style with ease and respect to his technique.”
A lunch after when the works were boxed up and taken to be locked in the trunks of your cars with the famous faces was highly documented. Including the signing of the sketch you passed over to Dali and the ones that Elliot and Hemmingway chose for their own collections to leave you the ones you preferred to your own tastes and the pair you had painted of James.
No shortage of people had claims of having met you and gotten signatures and moments to speak with you on various subjects slipped in between more thoughts on your work. These pieces of art gave way to more as riding on the tails of this showing of your artistic skills like that for Kodak before led into the release of your second photography book that exceeded the sales of the first and had four signings in Canada with two settled for when you would get back to New York just like the last time. Stops that would distract you until you would receive copies of your transcript to take back with you to Barnard on how you scored in your summer courses.

Lauren Jauregui on her Sense of Self, the innate magic of spirituality, & her upcoming EP

One of the most surreal moments of my life was sitting in the Zoom room, waiting for Lauren Jauregui to enter. There was a plethora of thoughts swirling in my head, mostly nerves - I had never met someone who I had such a deep cosmic connection with, someone I'd spent the last eight years following and looking to guidance for.  What if they weren't all I thought they would be? Then, I spotted the Lauren Jauregui Edition of Coup De Main on my desk shelf, and that's when it hit me: I had manifested  this entire conversation. God put this person in my path for a reason, all those years ago, and I was about to find out why. As I let her into the Zoom, I had no idea the emotional journey the next forty five minutes would lead me. What unfolded was something I always dreamed, and somehow, almost predicted: that in meeting the woman I had spent a lifetime loving and learning from, in truly baring our souls and sharing our life philosophies, a few of my internal puzzle pieces would click together with every laughing breath and anecdote dripping off of her with intellect and authenticity. I present to you: a candid conversation with Lauren Jauregui - how she describes her Sense of Self, her ideas on the current mental health movement, and her upcoming EP.
Isabella: How would you describe your Sense of Self in one sentence?
Lauren: I guess my sense of self is just kind of… This is complex now that I’m sitting and thinking about it! I’m like ‘what does my sense of self mean?!’ I guess it’s just kind of the awareness that I’m embodying. Yeah, like, how much I’m showing up for myself and the self care aspect of all of it. That’s usually when I feel the most sense of self, when I’m aware of my body and my mind and my heart and how it’s feeling, so self-care.
Isabella: Now more than ever, there seems to be a growing awareness/spread of information on mental health, a sort of movement throughout social media platforms. Is there any facet of this growing movement that you would want to change or is there anything you would like to add to the conversations?
Lauren: I mean, I think there is always room for improvement in how we approach things. Again, this is a topic that is new to all of us as a collective, we’ve been under the oppressive thumb of capitalism, imperialism, and colonization for a very long time, and we still live in a settler-colonial state. I think that the disparities between how mental health affects different people is definitely a nuanced conversation. I think that acknowledging state violence can not just be talked away is important, and I don’t think that we talk often enough about how people of color’s mental health suffers because there are systemic things in place to oppress them and to hurt them. That are still in place and that we still debate and that we still have to have conversations about, which has been centuries of people talking about whether or not it’s ok to brutalize people of color.  I think bringing that into the conversation a lot more - state violence’s impact on our mental health. A lot of the time we are just, like “Oh, I’m traumatized because my parents treated me a certain way” or “I’m traumatized because this person did something to me” but what we don’t really address is those behaviors of other folks like parents - something I’m trying to acknowledge is saying “I know my parents didn’t have the tools, and that’s something I’m learning through my mental health journey.” That’s not something I understood off the bat. I thought that the things that had happened to me in my life were the reasons why I was this way.
When you start going into the journey, and when the journey involves the spiritual element of the journey. That’s another thing, I would love to have more conversations about spiritual illness. Where the lack of faith and the lack of belief in self is the root cause of a lot of depression and anxiety. That disconnect from God and the disconnect from the belief that reality can be what we manifest it. We have to take responsibility for the way that our world looks right now, and the way we look, and the way we operate and hold one another or don’t. It really has to come down to every individual person wanting to show up for themselves more and understand themselves more.
I would like to have more conversations about the connectivity between everything, the intersectionality between this stuff.
Isabella: I love that. As someone who’s religious and has a very strong spiritual connection to all of that, that’s what I love about you so much - a lot of people are scared to talk about religion and spirituality, whilst you just go there, and talk about something that is so foundational to our beings.
Lauren: Yeah. I’ll challenge that a little bit and say it’s not necessarily religion. I feel like religion can be an instrument used to pin us against each other. It’s about spirituality because God is a reflection of us and lives in each of us. That’s why God looks so different everywhere because everywhere you go, God looks like the people there, because God is self. Self is God. As far as, like, when you think of the higher self, when you pray, whoever you pray to - this being is here for you, and you see yourself in them. Whilst you can understand that they are there for the rest of the world, as well, that connection regardless of religion, that understanding that there is something greater than yourself, is benevolent?
Isabella: Yeah.
Lauren: And that’s so important. I think we often forget about that, and I know that my darkest times were when I forgot that God existed. And when I didn’t trust in God and their vision for me. A lot of times, we feel like things are happening to us, but really, they’re happening for us.
Isabella: So, I’ve heard whispers through the grapevine of there being an EP in the works. Congratulations! I’ve been waiting!
Lauren: Hahaha!
Isabella: How do you plan on continuing your pure self expression through the release of a shorter form project and an eventual album?
Lauren: Well, I think that music is where I am the most self-expressive. It’s my safe space. I think writing in general, whether that’s my journal, or if that’s my notepad, or wherever. I used to just think a lot, and thinking a lot really messed me up, it gave me a lot of anxiety, and I used to think in loops, which I still do, but I’m better at catching myself now. That self expression is just a pertinent element of why I do music. I feel like I naturally just wanna talk about feelings! I’m just an emo shawty, I really love to put my stuff into words, and I feel like the challenge of putting it into a three minute or four minute song is kind of dope, because you get to kind of get it out. You don’t have to think about all of the things, you have to curate what you’re talking about and how you get the audience to understand your storyline in a concise, intentional way. Whether that’s short form or long form, it’s definitely my approach to making art.
Isabella: I love that! So, I don’t know how much you can say, and it’s alright if you can’t say much! I just wanted to know - what’s the vibe? I know you’ve worked in the past with the brilliant Kid Harpoon, who helped make Fine Line by Harry Styles, which is my favorite album of all time and saved me in so many ways, so will you two be working together on this project?
Lauren: On this specific EP, I am not working with him. I have other songs with him, because he and I make beautiful music together. I love Kid Harpoon. He’s a good friend and a really beautiful collaborator. On this EP, nothing’s produced by him on it, that’s not to say that we won’t work together again or the songs that we made won’t be released in some other format, but this one, I’m almost done with mixing now.
Isabella: Oooo!!!
Lauren: Yeah! I’m just in the process of getting all of the visuals together and making sure everything is packaged nicely and looking good for everybody!
Isabella: I’m so excited!
Lauren: Yes! I think it’s very close, and while I totally understand why everyone is expectant of something from me - I get that and I totally understand - this process of making this music has been WAY more profound than just the music itself, it’s been a huge rediscovery of self. It’s been unlearning like no other. It’s been a messy and painful and joyous process in all kinds of different ways. To me, it’s been so much more than what I can give people. That’s the beautiful after effect to me, so people feel seen, heard, and safe, like there’s someone else who understands where they're at. I focus a lot on the things that I think about, so I hope that whoever listens to it can feel the potency of the self-discovery that went into this and realize why it took so long. Self-discovery isn’t something you do in a couple of weeks, especially everything that I’d been through. I’m a very sensitive soul, and everything that went on really shifted my perception of self into a very toxic place that I needed to come out of, I really needed this time. Everyday, it’s made me trust more in God and God’s plan. Everytime I thought I had it figured out, ready to release, every single time, God would derail and say “Wait, there’s something bigger.” Every time, I was like “God! Let me put out this freaking music!” Isabella: Hahaha!
Lauren: And God’s like “yeah, yeah! I know! But people have to know who you are! And YOU don’t know who you are! When you know who you are, then we can give it to the world!” I know who I am now!
Isabella: That’s amazing to hear. I really hate when fans try to claim the intimacy of “knowing you” when we only know the public version of you, but I’m a very big empath, especially with the public figures I vibe with, I choose them very wisely. I’ve followed you for a very long time, so I can see the change from “Expectations’'' to “50 Ft.”
Lauren: Right!?
Isabella: Yeah! You’re a new, spectacular whole, and I hope you know how proud I am.
Lauren: Thank you!!!! I’m proud of you, too! You’ve been on this journey with me.
Isabella: Thank you! I really think I have! It’s taken a while for us to put this interview together, and I really feel like God put us together at the perfect moment, because mentally, I feel like I’m in the perfect place to meet you.
Lauren: God’s timing is something else!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
We hope you'll participate and that there will be a lot of amazing fic and art created to celebrate KakaIru and Kakashi's birthday!
KakaIru Week 2020 Prompts
Like last year, the prompts are general themes instead of specific tropes, which should hopefully give you lots of room to play and mix in the things you like. Your Wedding fanart could be Royalty AU, or your Hobbies fic could led to some high quality Huddling for Warmth shenanigans. We can't wait to see you put your own spin on them!
There are dozens of ways you could take the prompts, but if you are struggling to come up with something, check out a few of our suggestions behind the cut.
Day One (September 8th)
Hobbies – Kakashi claims to be a man of many hobbies, but what are they? Does he own every piece of Icha Icha merch available or have a bookshelf full of Icha Icha doujin? Does Iruka collect pamphlets from all the onsen he visits? Do they pick up any crazy hobbies after retirement? Today Kakashi and Iruka get to be extra geeky about their interests!
Weddings – Their own or someone else's. Maybe one of them catches Hinata's bouquet, or their friends drag them out for a stag night before their own big day. Do they have a quick Justice of Peace wedding, or do Team 7 make sure they have an elaborate affair whether they want one or not? How do they celebrate their wedding night? Here's your chance to give KakaIru the crazy ninja wedding they deserve!
Day Two (September 9th)
Confessions – Love confessions, admitting to a guilty pleasure, telling a secret, owning up to something they did wrong. Maybe Iruka admits that he, too, loves Icha Icha, or Kakashi confesses to having a crush on Iruka for ages. What confessions will KakaIru make today?
Health – Who's more likely to catch a cold, and who's the worst patient when they are sick? What are their exercise routines and diets like? How do they deal with mental health? Whether it's recovering from injuries or staying in good physical condition, how do KakaIru do it?
Day Three (September 10th)
Missions – Missions where they have to work together, missions where they are missing each other, or maybe something a little more unofficial. Does young Iruka make it his mission to prank that one ANBU with gray hair, or is Kakashi on a mission to get Iruka to read the entire Icha Icha series? Maybe they're both on a mission to get Naruto to eat his vegetables. Give KakaIru a mission to complete today!
Thanks – It's time for KakaIru to show their appreciation for the things and people around them! It could be as simple as Kakashi enjoying the view whenever Iruka bends over, or something more serious, like Iruka being grateful Kakashi makes it home alive after a dangerous mission. What are KakaIru thankful for?
Day Four (September 11th)
Lessons – Classes, extracurricular activities, homework, grading. What did they learn when they were at the Academy or from their jounin sensei? Maybe they are in a night class together, or they have to help Naruto with his homework. Or maybe they learn something new from each other when they start working together or dating. What lessons do KakaIru learn today?
Dreams – What dreams did they have as kids? What do they dream about at night? Has one been having dirty dreams about the other? How do they get over nightmares or help each other achieve their dreams? Today, KakaIru get to dream big!
Day Five (September 12th)
Pets – Are Kakashi's ninken up to trouble again? Does Iruka's homeroom have a classroom pet? What summons would Iruka have and would they get along with Kakashi's ninken? Summons or normal, what kind of animals do they have?
Hand-Me-Downs – What did they get from their parents or senpai? We know Iruka gave his forehead protector to Naruto, but what else do they pass on to Naruto and his children (or to children of their own)? What heirlooms are precious to KakaIru?
Day Six (September 13th)
Letters – Love letters, letters from Naruto while he is away, postcards to each other when they are traveling or on missions. What sort of letters do Kakashi and Iruka write each other? Or if you are feeling ambitious, maybe you'd like to try your hand at an epistolary fic!
Anniversaries – Are they one of those couples that celebrate every tiny anniversary or do they forget even the important ones? How do they mark the anniversaries of their loved ones' deaths or Naruto becoming hokage? Do their friends throw them a massive 40th wedding anniversary when they are officially an old married couple, not just one that acts like it? Today it's time to celebrate all the important moments in Kakashi and Iruka's lives!
Day Seven (September 14th)
Switch – Swap anything about them! Their jobs, bodies, ninjutsu, weapons, clans, or even just their hair color. Hokage Iruka and principal Kakashi, anyone? Or you could use something from other characters! Who wouldn't want to see Kakashi in Sai's crop top or Iruka in Anko's fishnet? Switch something up today!
Crossover – What Hogwarts house would they be in? Is Iruka the Watson to Kakashi's Sherlock? Or they could be members of the most popular idol group in the world. Now's the time to write or draw that KakaIru!!! on Ice idea you've been holding onto. Add in elements from your other fandoms and have fun!
Kakashi's Birthday 2020 (September 15th)
Birthday – It's Kakashi's birthday! How does he celebrate? Are there surprise parties? Presents? A limited edition Icha Icha figurine waiting to be unwrapped? Or maybe an Iruka waiting to be unwrapped? Celebrate Kakashi's birthday KakaIru style!
Surprises – Maybe a guest shows up uninvited or KakaIru are interrupted by people who don't know how to knock. Maybe Iruka surprises Kakashi when he gives him a taste of his mischievous past, or maybe Kakashi likes to make surprise visits to Iruka's classroom while his students are on break. If you aren't feeling the birthday theme, how about surprising Kakashi and Iruka in general today?

SPOOKY SEASON! An ode to Mo Dao Zu Shi: one of the best BL story created!
Tumblr media
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!! One last Halloween post and it's about one of my favourite pieces of media in the world of BL, romance, and supernatural stories. Roll your eyes because once again I'm talking about Mo Dao Zu Shi (The grandmaster of demonic cultivation) I mean already with the demons, and cultivation is already hinting why this is Halloween themed, and trust me MDZ has much more than that: from zombies to ghosts, to magical instruments and weapons, and we love our fantasy cultivation sects and clans. Anyhoo, I am here to write a fun post another verdict/review on each of the adaptations available so far for MDZ, yeh you heard me I've listened, read and watched all versions of this masterpiece, and I'm here to tell you to go and do the same for Halloween. Also in case, you haven't heard MTX (the author of MDZ) has another show on its way TODAY! And that's the magnificent, the excellent and incredible Heaven's Official Blessing after marathoning MDZ do that too.
Tumblr media
As always with my verdicts: we have ratings: From 1 to 5 (1 being least excited to watch, 5 being most,) how excited am I to delve into these again?
Country: China Genre: Danmei, Supernatural, Action, Fantasy, Romance, Comedy, BL, Horror,
Tumblr media
1.The Book
We begin with the one that started it all. The reason for my devotion and love for this world, for Wei Wuxian and Lan Wang Ji. My heart hasn't stopped loving this book experience. And at first, it wasn't easy to understand all the logic and terms needed to know for this world of cultivation and sects and clans, and magical skills. But once I got the hang of it (maybe after reading it three times I wonder how I had time to do this by the way), this is a book that I keep on returning to, crying to, and just breaking down into a mess too. This book is the most original source for the love story of Wangxian and to be honest its a masterpiece. Now onto the pros and cons, I guess about this adaptation.
Pro:
First, I would say that this is the most non censored version of MDZ, meaning China couldn't mute the romance or delete scenes because it's the original written story. The romance between Wangxian stands out and makes your heart go through a lot of emotions, from frustration at Wei  Wuxian not realising how he feels for Wang Ji, to pain because of Wang Ji's perceived unrequited feelings for so long, to happiness when they're just together, to confusion at some drunk scenes and then to all-out shock as the story reveals its self to the villains, the background of Weiying's death and more.
The introduction to all these characters, all of them have a role in the story, all of them are important to keep an eye on, and they all grow and develop throughout the story as we find out more about their circumstances and their own perspective on Wei Wuxian.
Tumblr media
Cons but not actual cons
The book is longggggg. The first time I read it I wondered when we would finally get a resolution or hint that Wei Wuxian finally understands what he's been feeling for sooo long, but it took forever and to be honest even though this is a con to me, it also is a positive for those who love slowwwww burns, and slow reveal to the background and development of Wangxians feelings for each other. There are many missions although essential to the world-building and the actual plot/mystery that at first seem so useless and not needed, but they are there for a purpose, and they do help us find out more clues about what's been going on and why Wei Wuxian was brought back from the dead.
The book is the most non censored version of MDZ, and so there are many questionable moments/questions about Non-consent that occur during moments when Wangxian are drunk. Honestly, these scenes are so weird to me, because they hold so much truth and revelations to Wangji's feelings for Weiying. After all, he's drunk and the most authentic version of himself. There are so many moments (like stealing chickens or showing him the bunnies) that make you just want to cry at his love Weiying and the pain he had to endure when he thought he was never coming back. Still, at the same time, there are many moments where you're like oh wow that escalated, and you feel just a tad discomfort at the idea of the non-con. But like I said these scenes are required for these two to really like give into what they've both been trying to push away or ignore, and it's nice to see how Weiying reacts to his feelings becoming uncontrollable and more prominent.
There are some moments in the book where things seem vague or unexplained (which the other sources did their own thing with), some characters who are mentioned but not really given enough detail, some plot details where it's not fully understood. However, I do think that because the book is already so long, the most critical information needed was there and the reveal of the mysteries were all done well. I think though that it's better to see how it materialises visually hence the other media adaptations.
Ratings: 4/5 -It's not easy to pick up the book and read, but I have so much fun returning to it and laughing along with Wei Wuxian's thoughts and ideas about Wang Ji.
Tumblr media
2.The Manhua
I was so shook when I found out MDZ has a manhua. Mostly because China wouldn't really make it easy for the book adaptation to be honestly portrayed visually. But the manga shocked me, it is censored, but the writers and the artists are all so obsessed with this book and this couple that despite having to remove or edit some scenes, they draw some additional scenes and post it online so that international fans can still get to see these moments visually. That is incredible, and I'm so grateful that we have a team of people who respect and love the piece as much as the fans do.
Pros:
With any graphic novel/manga the art of MDZ is fantastic to see, the characters are brought to life with colour and also the inclusion of chibi drawings to make a moment incredibly cute or funny. Weiying is very naughty, so a chibi drawing of him makes us see him like how he's acting a child. I enjoy the manhua of MDZ so much, and I love how they drew each of the characters and the world.
Cons but not really cons:
I think, however, there are better visual sources for MDZ available that is more detailed in terms of characters and includes more information about the world-building. The plot also has to be condensed as well because you can't draw everything from the book. The manhua is also still in the works so, its a very slow upload and it will take years for it to be completed. But this is understandable, and I can't wait to read the full completed copy. If you hate reading and can't stand words, I think the manhua version is for you!
Ratings: 3.5/5 -It’s the waiting that lowered the ratings for me and the fact that I prefer other sources but I’m so grateful for the manhua.
Tumblr media
3.The Show
The one that brought international fans like swarms to this story. Untamed shocked all of us in the BL community as the first time we heard about it, sure it was nice to see that Yibo was cast as Wang Ji, but even then his acting wasn't that profound or praised so we didn't care, and Zhan also seemed like an interesting choice for out Weiying. I think there were an outrage and confusion when we heard this was going to be censored and a bromance. It felt like it made no sense because there's no way really to edit the relationship and love of Wangxian, so people went into the show resentful and worried. But after 20 episodes, the anger, worry and upset were erased. Untamed is a masterpiece, and it blows my mind how censored it is but still not really censored? It deletes the questionable moments in the book but adds the essential parts even where we get to see Wang Ji's feelings (Though obviously not mentioned as feelings but respect). We get to watch Weiying realise how much he cherishes whatever he has with Wang Ji and how much he misunderstood the latter, and how much Wang Ji cared for him. The show as Netflix says is not about just friends. Still, it emphasises the connection between these two using subtext clues and symbolisms, and visual metaphors to make sure the audience knows that these two are soulmates and are meant for each other. Here are the other pros and cons of the show:
Pros:
The acting is incredible, like so good and I can't think of two people who were more suited for Wangxian, Yibo shocked me as Wang Ji because although I knew him (because of Kpop), I didn't really think he would pull of stoic but still vulnerable Wang Ji. He was good at showing the emotions of love and longing that has been connected with Wang Ji. Zhan was an excellent Wuxian, he made me smile, he made laugh, he made me so happy because of his mischievous aura, but he also played serious and emotional and resentful Wuxian well as well. I keep crying every time I see the death scene in the show because it's just so done well. The directors and producers who didn't care about hiding the relationship between these two, they still wanted to be respectful to the writer and the source, and they still wanted to show as much as possible that these two loved each other. For that, I'm so grateful and they did a brilliant job with what they could. The character arcs and development and depth; Its the way they took the other characters from the book and fleshed them out giving each of them more depth, more understanding, more dimensionality and more story connecting to our plot, and it broke my heart how much I loved everyone in this show. The actors all performed so well, and some gave me goosebumps at how well they portrayed their characters  (Xue Yang!!) like stunning and just a great cast. The storyline was also written in an innovative way, the flashbacks were first shown to the audience, how Wangxian became Wangxian and so the audience felt every single hurt and pain that Wang Ji was feeling. We understood why he acted the way he did. The flashbacks also provided plot structure to the mystery and the actual plot of the show, it left clues, and we watched the villains become villains (secretly), we saw how some characters grew. Each of the arcs in the book was told in a way that it flowed together and made sense. Due to this way of structuring the plot the show became so much more profound in the way it messed with our emotions, every death mattered, and every character had their own story and importance to the audience.
Tumblr media
Cons:
The censorship. I've praised how they overcame it, but it's still there, the ending of the show was done this way because of censorship and to be honest I still think everyone should read the book because there are moments where the romance of Wangxian is fun and memorable to see (the confession scene whilst it was done okay in the show because of censorship it doesn't hold as much oomph as it did in the book. Mainly because the events that happened before it was already so filled with angst and drama and the results of the confession Wangxian clinging onto each other despite being in danger is a must-see, the censorship is annoying because it shouldn't be there, it's something that whilst it did help with some stuff, it still feels like an insult to the piece, and it still doesn't sit well with me that China censors their BL. So its a con.
Ratings 5/5  I think I could spend so much time breaking down why Untamed is a masterpiece BL show, but all I can say is despite 50 episodes (longgg) it is worth the time and effort and if you watch BL, go see it.
Tumblr media
4.The Audio
The audio for the MDZ is like my favourite thing in the world. I love Chinese audiobook dramas; it's an incredible experience to listen to. With MDZ, this is what the show would be if it wasn't censored. The actors for the audio drama are amazing, and I love them so much. The audio drama is three seasons with some extra scenes and it's incredible if you don't want to read the book, then just watch and listen to the audio drama because its the same story but its brought to life by the acting and storytelling. Also though there are some scenes removed, I think the audio drama is the next uncensored gem of MDZ that shows Wangxian's romance the best way possible. I squeal, and I laugh, and again I cry at every single moment; their first kiss, the inn scene, the confession (i spend time pausing it just to cry at how good it is) and more. I just love it, and I prefer it to reading the book. Other pros and cons:
Pros:
The story is structured and told properly, follows all the arcs and events in the book and brings them life by voice acting, and the music is incredible. It's nice to listen to and hear Weiying's thoughts and to also listen to an audible version of the book. The audio drama has all the pros from the book as well.
Cons:
Nothing much to say about the cons. It is not easy to attain the audio drama in English subs, its hard to download and store it, but once you overcome that it's great. I think the audio drama is the most difficult to obtain.
Ratings: My favourite adaptation  5/5
Tumblr media
5.The Donghua
Lastly, we have the Donghua or the anime version of MDZ.  What can I say about this, its brilliant, masterpiece, it's gorgeous. If you think the art for the manhua is good, the donghua takes it to a different level. The visuals are stunning, the animation is breath-taking, and the story is again following Untamed ways of censoring the story but making sure it doesn't remove the romantic connotations and symbolism to Wangxian. The donghua also follows Untameds way of starting with flashbacks to explain what happened to Weiying before it started. I have nothing else to say about how great this is. It's the same thing I've been saying about all these adaptations. The donghua though is the best visual masterpiece for MDZ, in my opinion.
Pros;
Packed full with symbolism and clues to the plot, it's detailed so well for the storyline and its an excellent way to tell this story. The music and ost for the donghua are also beautiful and gets me emotional each time I hear it.
Cons:
Censorship. That's it, that's what it always is. For me, I think the donghua is the most censored version of MDZ? Or maybe I just feel that way despite the subtext clues; I do feel irritated at the censorship in the donghua.  Let's pray Heaven's official blessing overcomes that.
Ratings: 3.8/5 - I love it so much because of the visuals but apart from that I prefer other sources for MDZ. Still the best donghua that exists.
Tumblr media
So here you have in an in-depth and messy conversation about one of my favourite media pieces to existing right now in BL. I think I will never stop singing praises at MXT for creating this story and I think there's nothing else I rather do than just spend times when I need a distraction watching, listening or reading this story again and again. What about you all.  What do you feel about MDZ? What pros and cons do you have for each adaptation? Which is your favourite. And have you been able to get any rest when we know that Heaven's official blessing is out TODAY!! Let me know your thoughts. Happy Halloween, Enjoy it.

End of Year Faves 2020
Rules: It’s time to love yourselves! Choose your 8 (ish) favorite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world in 2020. Tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome work!
Thanks for tagging me @denisemarieangelina and @bluemusickid <3
She’s the One (Chris Evans, Series)
I had the idea for this series for like two months before I finally gave in, writing the first part and creating this blog. So this is the reason I exist on here 👌🏼 I reread this sometimes to make myself feel better about how much I’ve improved.
Adjourn (Andy Barber, One Shot)
My first Andy fic! I haven’t reread it since I posted it because I usually don’t reread my smut lol but I love the idea of Andy being super soft and comforting during a moment of insecurity.
Good Girl (Steve Rogers, One Shot)
And my first Steve fic! I guess it’s a theme for me when writing for someone new that I start with a smut piece. For some reason it’s less pressure.
Oh, Shut Up (Chris Evans, One Shot)
Listen... I try to avoid rereading this lmao but it’s one of my fics with the best response which is so funny to me. Literally everyday I'm tortured with this getting notes, reminding me it's something I wrote 😅
Chris Evans x partner with ADHD (Headcanon)
I think this was one of my first requests, and I was so nervous because the last thing I ever want to do is come off as ignorant, and I know accurate representation is v important. This has gotten such positive feedback though so 💖
A Great Mentor (Andy Barber, Series)
The way this took off had me flummoxed. I’ve never gotten so many requests or such a positive, enthusiastic response related to anything I’ve written. I’m a sucker for age gaps and secret relationships 🥵 so it’s been fun!
Good Choice (Andy Barber, One Shot)
I’m a slut for Andy Barber. That’s all. Nothing else to add.
Believe in You (Chris Evans, One Shot)
Super self-indulgent. Just needed everyone to know I have the hots for Sen. Cory Booker. (And that I’m still v v proud of Chris and co. for ASP)
⤷ I’m late to doing this so I think everyone I would tag has probably already been tagged lol but if you see this and wanna do it, pls do! I’ve loved seeing everyone’s :-)
