the thing that i find really bizarre about all the tangential mudslinging that has come to stand in for israel and gaza is that it’s redrawing political lines that I thought i understood.

on one side, you’ve got tucker carlson, glenn greenwald, rashida tlaib, hardcore white nationalists, blm, basically the entire progressive left, the nation of ireland, russell brand, the muslim world, old jews who protested against the vietnam war, and people selling keffiyehs on etsy.

on the other side, you’ve got zionist evangelical christians who think jews are the chosen people but also that they’re going to hell, the ADL, marjorie taylor green, john fetterman, amy schumer, kid rock, and destiny the political streamer.

it’s one of those few things where I can’t predict where people are going to land based solely on their political views.

Speed Goat

k, not a goat but some folks use the slang “goat” when referring to one. The American Pronghorn is also commonly referred to as an “antelope” but it isn’t truly an antelope either. Rather, it is a species of its own. The “speed” is certainly accurate though. They are the fastest land mammal in the western hemisphere and possibly the fastest on Earth in sustained runs. They have been clocked at speeds in excess of 55 miles per hour and what’s most amazing to me is the terrain in which they can attain and sustain these speeds. They can run like that in the sort of rocky terrain that literally hurts my feet to walk in! They are truly amazing creatures and very challenging to photograph as they are also quite skittish. It takes very little to get them to display that speed AWAY from you! I have many poor images of their behinds as they ran away and felt blessed that this one ran perpendicular to my position just long enough for me to grab a shot.

I captured the image in a high desert area known as the Smoke Creek Desert in Lassen County, California, USA. The area is managed by The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and hosts a healthy population of pronghorn as well as wild horses and burros. It is also fairly remote country much of which is only accessible on foot or horseback or a VERY rugged and reliable vehicle (and take LOTS of water).

The erratic notion of "progressive left" proved me a few things. The more obvious one is that the true left became a rare political stance since as of late people kinda forgot what it's supposed to represent. And this is the reason why I can't fit myself in that box and consider myself as centrist.

But more importantly, it shows that those people are cowards. It's so easy to live in a fantasy where you're an activist without doing much in reality. Sure, tear a poster here and there, wear clothes you have zero understanding of what they represent, say words with heavy meaning but play ignorant when being called out. Turn a blind eye to rape but keep flashing your little MeToo and BLM pins you got from Etsy.

It's easy to bark and even bite far away from the real dog fight.

I'm sure you don't.

Shut up already. You have zero idea of the real world.

also about purple hair girl: she spoke over poc a lot during the blm protests in 2020, shit talked harry on twitter/tumblr, bribed people in line to let her in front of them at shows. also used photographers photos in her etsy shop souvenir concert tickets without ever asking or crediting them.

i'm honestly not surprised tbh. i knew that the reason she always got tickets and stuff was because she kind of ended up getting a following because of all the barricade content. but i really do find her thing with harry funny because she clearly tried to pull the same thing with harry (the whole front row bs) and harry didn't pay attention to her at all (or purposefully ignored her because he's petty like that) and so she stopped, or at least reduced talking about him and now you'll only see her posting when something harry related is happening so she can get her views in.
