"A team of geoscientists from the University of Toronto is shedding new light on the century-old model of plate tectonics, which suggests the plates covering the ocean floors are rigid as they move across the Earth's mantle.
The researchers found that the Pacific plate is scored by large undersea faults that are pulling it apart. The newly discovered faults, described in a paper published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters, are the result of enormous forces within the plate tugging it westward.
Some of the faults are thousands of meters deep and hundreds of kilometers long.
"We knew that geological deformations like faults happen on the continental plate interiors far from plate boundaries," says Erkan Gün, a post-doctoral researcher in the department of Earth Sciences in the Faculty of Arts & Sciences. "But we didn't know the same thing was happening to ocean plates.""
""But the theory [The theory of plate tectonics ] 's not carved in stone and we're still finding new things," says Pysklywec. "Now we know this fault damage is tearing apart the center of an ocean plate—and this could be linked to seismic activity and volcanism.
"A new finding like this overturns what we've understood and taught about the active Earth," he says. "And it shows that there are still radical mysteries about even the grand operation of our evolving planet.""

Expanding Earth
The Expanding Earth Theory is a scientific concept that proposes that the Earth's crust has been gradually increasing in size over geological time, causing the continents to move apart. This theory stands in contrast to the widely accepted theory of plate tectonics, which suggests that the Earth's lithosphere is divided into several rigid plates that move and interact with each other.
The Expanding Earth Theory suggests that as the Earth expands, the continents move away from each other, creating new oceanic crust between them. It argues that the growth of the Earth is responsible for the observed continental drift and the formation of ocean basins. Proponents of this theory argue that it can explain various geological features, such as the fit of continents, the distribution of ancient fossils, and the formation of mountain ranges.
However, it is important to note that the Expanding Earth Theory is not widely accepted within the scientific community. The theory faces numerous challenges and conflicts with a vast amount of geological and geophysical evidence that supports plate tectonics. The overwhelming consensus among scientists is that plate tectonics is the prevailing mechanism responsible for the movement of Earth's crust and the formation of geological features.
Plate tectonics provides a more comprehensive and well-supported framework for understanding the Earth's geological processes, including the formation of mountain ranges, the distribution of earthquakes and volcanic activity, and the evolution of continents over millions of years.
While the Expanding Earth Theory has not gained mainstream scientific acceptance, it still attracts some interest from fringe or alternative science communities. However, it is crucial to approach scientific theories with skepticism and rely on evidence-based consensus within the scientific community for a well-founded understanding of Earth's geological processes.

ianto jones one of characters of all time to me. lying to his sister about his job (hunting aliens) is understandable but lying to his coworkers about i am presuming a lot about his home life and childhood and person. yeah. and not talking about his sexuality ever despite it clearly being some big fucking thing he's struggling with. and then DYING leaving all of that unsaid.

Theta Sigma Interviewing People for his Earth Project at the Academy Part 1
Theta Sigma: King Arthur came a lot, didn't he?
Poor human: I think you mean he's associated with the court of Camelot.
Theta: No, it definitely says here. 'King Arthur came a lot.' Do we know if he came a lot? Or like, just the same as the average man?
Human: ....The only evidence I have in that regard is that he's said to have one child.
----
Theta: The Victorians had horse-drawn buses, but you never see horses drawing anything these days.
Theta: When did they lose their ability to draw?
Human: When we talk about horse-drawn buses, we're not really talking about horses drawing buses.
----
Theta: Ancient people invented money to make life on Earth easier, but in doing so, they inadvertently invented capitalism, which is going to kill everyone.
----
Theta: Social media has been polarizing people, hasn't it? Like what's already happened to the bears.
Human: What bears?
Theta: Polar bears.
----
Theta: Which was more culturally significant: the Renaissance or 'Single Ladies' by Beyonce?
----
Theta: This is the famous Greenwich Marillion Line. I can be in the past and in the future with the present running right up through my middle bits.
----
Theta: But what was so great about Henry VIII? He had six wives, all called Catherine. He was a Catherineaholic. Or a Catholic, for short.

Thinking about ASTV and how it tackles different family dynamics again, and while I’m sure so many fans of Miguel’s 2099 comics would love it if one of his love interests was brought into BSTV to help wrap up his backstory… I kinda hope they don’t, because him being an entirely single dad just sounds so much better to me than him having some dead off-screen partner.
Resolving to adopt a kid from another dimension also sounds more in line with the desperation of a man whose been put through the ringer in the adoption process, than that of someone who was a husband and father but lost that in recent years. It just feels more cohesive and intimate, while not resorting to the tired trope of killing off some woman to motivate the big burly man into action. I don’t think that would be fair to Xina and Dana, specially if they weren’t already introduced in ASTV and therefore missed a pretty big chance at standing out in the narrative. I can’t claim to be the most attached to them, as I only know of them, but I know I wouldn’t want a character I cared about to be reduced to that- specially if it would arguably come to the detriment of another character as well.

Teen Ben Omnitrix Au snippet
Teenager Omnitrix in the wild: learning how to function while being organic.
I've been thinking on and off about a fantastic fanfiction I read a while ago now which had Ben being the Omnitrix. Here
I have a very soft spot for those types of situations, you know? Playing around with questions regarding humanity and self views,my type of fun. So I thought "What if Ben looked a little older when he appeared from his dormant Omnitrix form?" And "What if he didn't know how to be human?"
"How would others view ben? How would it shape him?" Well this bad boy * slaps hood of this Au* was born from that question and others like it. *Evil laughter in the distance*
Teenager Omnitrix in the wild: learning how to function while being newly organic.
Chapter 1 sneak peek
Important Past lessons learnt from Gwen's teachings. Hygien. How did Ben learn it?
It started with an emergency shopping trip. They couldn't let the alien (genetically human) go without properly fitting clothes. Her uncle's ratty to big old clothes just wouldn't cut it. Plus The newly arrived and dubbed Ben would need stuff. Toothbrushes, hygiene products in general, clothes and proper shoes.
Gwen still didn't completely understand how or even why Ben would need to come along with them? Shouldn't they just call the authorities? Ben is still an alien, no matter how human he may look. Gwen is still probably the one that will need to tutor him on "how to human" or "pass for a human". She should probably start by explaining how to open the door.
"It says pull not push Ben!"
"Oh, sorry Gwen. I just don't understand why not all Terran establishments don't just have touchpads and auto opening entrances?"
She was going to need to teach him how to talk like a proper young dude. "Auto opening entrances" needs fixing as soon as she can scrabble together enough emergency movie DVDs, magazines and pop songs. She's going to make a proper teen out of him yet! Now where is the Wonder woman themed deodorant?
