(sorry for leaving y’all in suspense I was grocery shopping) Surprise!! I accidentally got into Len’en like two weeks ago. Whoops! I got ideas for cool drawings to do with each of the BPoHC shrine team members (and you-know-who, ofc, but that one might be… weird lol), but Tsubakura gets to go first cause theirs is the simplest; just greyscale + red color scheme with a split background and the pose is mostly random (maybe they’re squishing Tsurubami’s little eye thing? Idk). Very pleased with how everything worked out; the line for the eye is exactly where the dividing line for the background was and the way I managed to make the vest corseted while not changing the ribbon placement is just perfect. Although I did make their hat smaller out of the aforementioned cowardice also that thing is hard to draw

I know that most aro people hate soulmate tropes but I actually enjoy them most of the time and when they're twisted around, I don't actually like standard platonic soulmates?

I like when the soul bond is strangling and toxic and unwanted, when soul bonds are divine ends to blood feuds and violent conflicts, when there's parts of the bond that the characters will always resent even when they love their partners, when there's social stigmas (even violent ones) around having a soulmate, when characters struggle to defy fate and destiny and whatever else to get rid of a soul bond however they can, etc.

#i was reading an asoiaf fic series recently (don't judge me) #and it centered a lot around soul bonds forming as a way to make up for the harm caused by one family to the other #or to force feuds between families or communities or kingdoms to end #with there being mentions of other cultures who think that soul bonds mark people wanted by the gods #so marked couples are drowned at sea as sacrifices #and other cultures where they're seen as curses and people with them are shunned and hated #i just thought it was a really interesting approach

Summary: After a stressful day on set, you (y/n) are there to support Bob and lend him an ear.

You had the whole table set ready for Bob and you as you were expecting him back from set, when you heard the sound of Bob coming into the house with his keys.

“Hi, honey!” You heard him call out from the hallway, as he hung his grey long-coat at the entrance. His tired steps made loud sounds in the hallway as he approached the area which you were in.

“Hi, you big hunk...” you said very enthusiastically, placing the last plate on the table.

“Another day down the shitter.” he let out as he was undoing his black tie. 

His face lit up as he noticed the entire table which you had set up, and he sighed, closing his eyes.

“Oh honey, you didn’t need to do this...You know my job is tough no matter what.” He came close to you to leave a peck on your cheek, and placed one hand on your hip.

You smiled back at him and gently grabbed a hold of his face to leave a kiss near his lips. Bob couldn’t help but blush a bit.  He then placed a sweet kiss on your neck and then headed over to sit down. 

“How was the day today?” you asked, pouring a bit of wine in both of your glasses. 

“Work was hell”. Bob expressed. You could hear the hint of frustration in his voice. “Just the same old cat and mouse game between Joan and Bette -” He grumbled. “- And not to mention Jack.”

“Did Jack say something to you?” you asked him. 

Bob roamed his head around as he stated his answer. “It’s not really what he said… more like how he said it…-” He looked up to you as if disappointed.

“- He wants me to stir up some drama. … Make Joan and Bette be at each other’s throats…” He looked at you shamefully. “Problem is, I don’t wanna do that. I just wanna carry a proper set, make something of value… a good picture.” He said.  A good horror picture at that.” He added, wagging his finger. “ - You know what I mean, honey?” he posed to you. Of course he’d understand if you couldn’t understand what he was saying.

“Of course I know what you mean.” you told him. Bob leaned towards you, gladly listening to your every word.

“And it’s going to be a spectacular picture, I’m sure of it, Bob. You just need to waltz with these people. They’re just a means to your vision.-” You tried to find the best way to put it to him. “Be the director that you want to be, not the one they want you to be.”  You squeezed Bob’s hand tight and looked him in the eyes, adoringly. 

Bob gazed at you, feeling deeply validated by your very meaningful words. “Thank you, honey -” he said coarsely. “- That’s just what I needed to hear.”. 

Bob placed the large napkin onto the collar of his white shirt like a bib and began to dig into the meal carefully. He quickly expressed awe and delight with a muffled and wheezy laugh. In between he said to you: “Christ! Sweetie! When’d you learn to cook like this?”. He coughed a bit with his food. “-Mmh, I’m sorry.” He’d spoken with his mouth a bit full, out of excitement. 

You looked at him flirtatiously, lifting up your glass as to take a sip from your wine. “Well what do you think I do all day?”. Your answer made the two of you laugh quite hysterically.

After the two of you had put away the dishes and gotten into your pyjamas, you both quickly got tucked into bed, ready to cuddle and hold each other lovingly like you typically did. Bob always put his hand on your shoulder, circling his thumb softly as he got nuzzled up closer to you. So the two of you had naturally settled into this position already, as Bob was holding you tenderly.  “My strudel” he said to you, gently placing his lips on yours, for a tender kiss. 

“You know what I think your picture is going to be, hm, Bob?” you said, as you nuzzled into his neck and into your guys’ spoon. You felt his warm skin and the soft silk of his top. 

“What’s that, honey?” he replied in a lovesome manner. 

“I think your movie’s going to be the best horror picture ever made”. You answered. The only thing Bob gave you as a reply was simply drowning you with more kisses, and you gave into it without hesitation or qualm.

Je regarde beaucoup de séries, et j’en ai vu un paquet de super bien. Cette fois, avec cette celle-ci, j’ai été touchée en plein cœur. Pourtant, je connais à peine Truman Capote, je n’ai rien lu de lui, j’ignorais tout de cette querelle dont il est question dans ce récit qui raconte la deuxième partie de sa vie. Je connaissais son visage, sa réputation sulfureuse, son intérêt pour les mondains, et l’impact de son roman De sang froid.

Honnêtement, je n’aurais pas cru me passionner pour son existence ni pour celles des « Swans », c’est à dire ces « socialities », célébrités mondaines pleines aux as et oisives au possible, qui faisaient la pluie et le beau temps sur la mode à New-York dans les années 60 et 70. D’ailleurs, il me semble bien qu’on les a oubliées. Elles ont leurs fiches Wikipedia, mais je ne suis pas sûre qu’elles aient laissé une trace inouïe ni dans l’art, ni dans la mode.

C’est Gus Van Sant qui filme, et sans doute la qualité de la série y est pour beaucoup. Le casting est dingue aussi, entre Naomi Watts, Calista Flockart, Chloë Sevigny, Jessica Lange… et Tom Hollander qui incarne Capote d’une façon extraordinaire. Il a réussi à créer un personnage à la fois ridicule et profondément touchant, avec ses cheveux jaunes plaqués sur un front de plus en plus dégarni, une gestuelle maniérée et outrée, une voix haut perchée, et un rire incroyable… irritant et désarmant. Une performance géniale, proche de l’original (j’ai regardé des vidéos pour écouter la vraie voix de l’auteur), et une création sensible.

La première partie de la vie de l’écrivain, de sa jeunesse chaotique (mère sans égards, puis alcoolique, père violent puis absent), à son succès précoce, est sacrément passionnante (maintenant que je suis renseignée). Mais la série se concentre sur l’après. Lorsque, précisément, Truman Capote est à son apogée, et que tout le monde s’arrache cet homosexuel mondain qui est drôle, cruel, attentif et doux avec ceux (celles surtout) qu’il aime. Sa relation avec Babe m’a bouleversée. J’ai pleuré tout le long de l’avant-dernier épisode, devant la beauté de leur lien, devant le tragique du gâchis.

Cette série est évidemment complètement proustienne, avec l’œil acéré sur les faux-semblants des riches, les amitiés qui n’empêchent pas la clairvoyance, la cruauté de ladite clairvoyance lorsque celle-ci se mue en récit public et donc en trahison. Il est question de mondes dont on veut être ; dont Capote devient le centre puis en est évincé. De solitude. D’alcool. De création. De l’attirance du papillon vers l’ampoule qui va le brûler, le petit garçon esseulé d’Alabama ébloui par le faste new-yorkais, puis les talk-shows. Et le fantôme maternel qui rôde, encore, qui empoisonne chacun de ses gestes.

C’est le récit d’un déclin collectif, mais dans lequel chacun est seul. C’est troublant de finesse, de délicatesse. Malgré les belles robes, les colliers de perles et les mets raffinés, il y a quelque chose de nu qui transparaît, quelque chose de cru, de vrai où se mélange les regrets d’un gâchis immense et la beauté impalpable de moments dérisoires. Une vie, à la fin de laquelle on appelle en vain sa maman, comme un petit enfant effrayé.

it was sooooo good seeing scar in an environment where his rp was fully supported and embraced. bdubs. cleo. etho. even the bad boys coming in on their thing. he really got to thrive this season and it was so fun to watch (and it seemed to play). i knew scar and bdubs would be good together and cleo was such a fun addition. all i want from future scar seasons now (other than for a scar win ofc) is for him to get teamups where he's fully supported in doing whatever his weird thing is to his hearts content <3
