ACOTAR Couples & Halloween Costumes: Headcanons 👻 🎃

Feysand: Feyre and Rhys definitely have a cute family costume planned with Nyx, but as soon as they leave him with a babysitter, they have to be the hottest couple in a 25-mile radius. Think Mr. & Mrs. Smith, think mafia AU, think Feyre in a slutty dress and Rhys unable to keep his hands off her

Nessian: Nesta and Cassian start planning their costumes at least a year in advance. No expense is spared, no detail is overlooked. Sure, they get into semi-heated arguments leading up to their favourite day of the year, but it’s well worth it. My vote goes to them being sexy pirates, or a gender bent Hades and Persephone.

Elucien: The thing about Elain Archeron is that she will always be that bitch, so well-dressed that people can’t help but stare. Lucien LOVES it! He’s also more than happy to take off his shirt at Elain’s request. A Greek god (or warrior) and goddess definitely works for their day court vibes (bonus points if Elain is Aphrodite).

Azris: Eris and Azriel famously refuse to put effort into Halloween. Azriel has been known to throw on cat ears. Eris has worn a mask or used fake blood on more than one occasion. Yet, somehow they end up surprising everyone by dressing up as a cop (Eris) and sexy criminal (Azriel). Yes, the handcuffs are fully functional. And, yes, Azriel wears a crop top.

Emorie: Our fave girlies have one goal on Halloween, and that’s to look ridiculously hot. Mor lives by the fact that “hoes don’t get cold” and usually makes a costume out of lingerie. Emerie’s been known to follow her lead or dress in something’s that more comfy. I think they would absolutely slay as an angel and demon.

Bonus addition: Emerie as a witch (and Mor can tag along as a black cat)

Gwynriel: These two always go with a costume that’s ridiculously niche or nerdy. Sometimes, Gwyn will get Azriel to dress up as her favourite male characters. Sometimes, she’ll wear a gorgeous costume on her own (and Azriel will just be there, looking at her with hearts in his eyes). Batman and catwoman is a fan favourite, but Gwyn loves the year she found her new favourite book and got them to dress up as a priestess and shadowsinger.

Elriel: Elain is hot (see above), and Azriel is more than happy to take a supporting role when it comes to couples costumes. Elain wants to wear a fancy dress? Azriel will offer to hold her purse. It’s an Elain Archeron world and Azriel is loving every second of just being in it. I feel like a flower and gardener costume would be cute couples costume for them.

Jassa: Jurian and Vassa are here to have fun. All of their costumes are easy-going and definitely bought last-minute, but they still look amazing. They’re known to find things around the house, and wear a costume that they insist is a pun. Some years, they remember they have these race car outfits at the back of their closet.

Gwynlain: Gwyn and Elain are for the Pinterest girlies. They always have the most gorgeous costumes, and their makeup is impeccably done. Dare I say, they’re the second hottest couple in a 25-mile radius. My brain is literally malfunctioning at the thought of them dressing up like Bloom and Flora from Winx Club.

One thing that I have thought of about Azriel is the fact that I could totally see him wanting the most casual, domestic type of life more than anyone.

When I say casual-domestic, I mean the man could live in a shack and still be beyond happy if he was with his love, which in this scenario would be Elain. He’d want the most ordinary life if it weren’t for his line of work. He just gives off that vibe.

“He needs a warrior”

“He needs a spy”

“He needs someone strong”

Those claims focus too much on what people want for Azriel rather than what he wants for himself. Pretty ironic right? Considering the theme of Elain’s arc is and will be Choice and Choosing even against Fate which will involve Az heavily.

Of course all of this is headcanon from me and we don’t really, truly know what he wants yet but…

Imagine their domestic life style in the Townhouse.

(Nessian > HoW, Feysand > Riverhouse, Elriel > Townhouse)

Him coming home to her baking fresh bread or desserts for him.

Her teaching him all about flowers, their meanings, and how to take care of them.

Him actively gardening with her in their free time.

Them baking together? Please. Imagine flour all over their faces.

Her accompanying him outside while he suns his wings and reads reports or books with tea.

Him singing for her when he grows comfortable enough to do so.

Something as intimate as him washing her hair for her in the bath.

Like wise with her helping with his wings.

And more.

I feel like Az would want nothing more than that. After all, he’s a workaholic and arguably works the hardest and most out of the Inner Circle.

Then again, we still won’t know until the book announcement 😮‍💨. “It doesn’t matter what I want” has me wanting to cry for him.

Ive come to the conclusion that Gwynriels are probably the most healthiest side of the ship war.

Its just my opinion MIND IT!

Like most elriels are sometimes anti gwyn or lucien and have a very strong ego which i wont talk much about. They can also be anti nessian (i dont mind) but also anti Nesta and most likely pro feysand.They have honestly crossed multiple boundaries with the fandom

Eluciens in terms of real life are very healthy and are honestly the smaller portion of the ship wars. However as much as it is so fun to ship elain and lucien, many eluciens hold the stance such as ''anti feysand, anti nessian, anti inner circle,anti Azriel'' There isnt anything wrong with that ofc!

Gwynriels have been involved with a bit of both. There have been real life toxic versions of them (imo not as bad as elriels) and they sometimes hate on Elain but that's pretty much it. Gwynriels are most likely eluciens so they love Gwyn,Elain,Lucien,Azriel,inner circle,valkyries,feysand,nessian and the normal. (some dont)

I feel like it we are going to continue the series, its more peaceful to just not hate the characters because honestly you might just have to find a different series because Sarah loves a lot that yall hate.

Just from my personal experience and what i have seen in like my four-ish years in this fandom. Not as long as some of you but around the time the ship wars started haha

I used to be an Elriel too because like most elriels i thought the 3sis x 3bros was perfect. Its not and im not going to talk about it here. Just saying, during those times i was disturbed by some elriels comments and how cocky and mean they could be. It was not even confidence just flat out insults,jabs and comments i hate such as ''ours is canon theirs is fanon'' ''delusional'' ''did you even read the same book'' Keep in mind the fandom was NOT the reason i switched to gwynriel/elucien so don't even try to bombarde me with all the elucien/gwynriel comments and hell yeah i know they exist.

I will forever be an elucien and love elain and lucien together and divided although some of them can be immature and they lack some understanding.

Literally all of this could apply to Gwynriel however being apart of the Gwynriel side is easiest for me!

I feel like a major part of Elriel is just like… the matching vibe. This is something we see in our other ACOTAR couples, and it’s partly why Elriel makes so much damn sense as endgame.

Let’s draw some comaprisons.

So baby Feysand. Feyre and Rhys have obvious compatibilities in their motivations, desires, and beliefs. They both give major Saviour Main Character energy by being self-sacrificing, fearless, and driven by morality and goodness above all else. Their love is centered around the themes of fate and destiny while their personalities share the same competitive spirit that binds them as friends AND lovers. They also both struggle with feeling “other,” and have overcome major trials to become stronger. In short, they carry the same compatible energy.

Then Nessian. Nesta and Cassian also share a similar energy even though they seem extremely different at first glance. When dissected, this pairing has similar drives, vibes, and goals. Firstly, they both have STRONG personalities. Nesta is outwardly chilly and confident, matching Cassian’s bold and gregarious energy. He is intense enough to match his mate, and the pair of them both share an extremely protective edge. Both tend to be overconfident and willing to charge into a fight they might not win, physically OR verbally. These two like to be opponents—to each other, to life, and to obstacles. They’re both always on the hunt for a fight, and share the same themes and desires.

Finally, we have Elriel. Elain and Azriel share similar themes, personality traits, and goals, just like Nessian and Feysand. They are both are observant, reserved, and easily contented. They have a quiet type of humor and seem to enjoy the small and simple things that others take for granted, like the freedom to fly or a quiet afternoon putzing around a garden. They’re never jostling for power amongst their siblings or trying to get prestige for their names. They both seem motivated by a strong inner desire to remain true to who they are, though they never hesitate to help or serve others. They seem motivated by love and the pursuit of a peaceful life, but are very quick to sacrifice their own desires for the greater good. They match!

This is why it feels so absurd to imagine Nesta with Rhysand or Feyre with Azriel or Elain with Cassian. Cassian needs a verbal sparring partner: Elain couldn’t be that for him. Azriel needs someone to listen without trying to problem-solve: Feyre couldn’t be that. And Nesta and Rhys would just kill each other. I know it’s pointless to say all this, but I’m just showing that we can see a romantic mismatch way quicker than a romantic MATCH.

Love stories that make SENSE and tickle the soul are the ones where the pair desire similar things while ALSO desiring each other. It’s not enough to have a sexy enemies-to-lovers or teacher-student premise. You need a couple that WORKS. Compatibilities are what makes characters drawn to one another even more than being beautiful or sexy or rich or whatever. Because all these characters are sexy and eternally gorgeous. That’s not enough to fuel the tension and draw and chemistry in an entire story. You need them to be chasing the same things and viewing the world in a way where they can understand how the other views it.

So anyways… Elriel is coming.

Fantasy Couples that give Elriel vibes Part 1:

Robin Hood and Marian - Robin Hood: The Prince of Thieves (1991)

Side note: This is part 1 of a series that I plan to continue with each post featuring a different couple all relating to Elriel (I might also do some Feysand and Nessian posts too bc it’s just too tempting) so I want to be clear that these posts will be focused more on the vibes, energy, chemistry etc. of the couples I choose, not necessarily the actual story and arc of the movie. That being said though, there are going to be couples (I have a list), that I feel mirror or relate more to Elriel in terms of story and relationship progression than others, and I may include that in my posts going forward.

Starting off with Marian and Robin, I think it’s pretty obvious why I chose them. Oh and please take note that I am being specific about which Marian and Robin I am choosing (although I may love them, I am not talking about the foxes and Russel Crowe does not live here). If you have not scene this particular movie iteration then please find it and enjoy and all I’ll say is that Alan Rickman is the actual star of the show and has beef with Christmas.

Back to Marian and Robin, This scene alone SCREAMS the Elriel rescue scene with Marian and Elain both quoting the timeless perfection: “You came for me.”

Other than that this couple is your staple fantasy duo (sh*t does Robin Hood even count as fantasy??) complete with all the goodness and HEA that comes with it. Marian and Robin don’t really parallel Elriel in much else but I will reaffirm that this one scene was enough for a post because of its pure devotion, willing to die for you, damsel -in-distress vibes (that everyone loves to hate but I think if done right, is so f*cking romantic).

I also do believe in my heart of hearts that Azriel would die for Elain. He may not have said it outright (yet) like Robin here, but by God I believe he was thinking it.

Love this film, love this couple and I squealed gleefully during my rewatch of this movie and this scene because it reminded me so much of Elain and Azriel.

Final side note: these are my own personal thoughts and feelings (I of course don’t own any characters or stories mentioned) so if anyone agrees or disagrees it is all totally valid and I welcome and cherish intelligible comments and opinions. My only plea is for no hate.

What are some of your favorite fanfics? You can only include up to 2 LB fics

I was going to wait to answer this in the morning because it's so daunting an ask. But I have to be in office tomorrow and I know I won't have the time, and then I'll forget about this. It's been a long time since anyone asked me my personal favorites.

I put some of them in yesterday's list of elucien recs, so definitely start here. I have to cross post a little, though. None of these are in order, this is actually not a ranking but the opposite of a ranking in which every one is incredible, and written by very wonderful people worth following.

playgirl, by @damedechance. I love this fic. Lucien has an only fans, Elain moderates his chat. She was the first gwynriel writer I ever read. You know I'm weird about Azriel- I don't really enjoy him, but in bookclub, her fic was being recommended CONSTANTLY and I gave it a shot thinking I'd hate it, and she made me insane. The gwynriel fic is Things You Can't Have, and I suggest reading it, too.

Latch, My Fate is Yours; Latch, My Very Soul is Yours by @labellefleur-sauvage. Elucien mummy au and so beautifully done. The author is also an VERY funny person and I recommend anything she writes (such as her 1920's Neris fic And All That Jazz) on vibes alone.

Our Bodies, Possessed By Light @iftheshoef1tz. Azris at its FINEST. If you like Azriel and Eris as a pairing, and you want something that is both achingly beautiful and well-plotted, this is it. This is the fic. Honestly, even if you don't want that, you should read it anyway. It's sexy, it's funny, it's emotional and it's poetic. I think about this fic (the cabin specifically because I'm slutty) all the time.

Crimson Clover, by @thesistersarcheron. Baby's first elriel fic, I heard the sentence "Elain covered in blood" and dropped everything I was doing to learn more. Elain is, in fact, covered in blood and Azriel is pretty insane about it. This author also has a fic bookclub is obsessed with, Viciousness & Intelligence which is Nesta x Cassian x Azriel in a poly bond and another of my personal favorites, Bejeweled in which Feyre is Night Court fae made entirely of jewels and Rhys is...well...down bad as he always is.

Embers, by @ultadverb is my favorite Morlain fic in the fandom. It's so richly written and such a good exploration of Elain and her feelings. She really does Elain such justice. I have it on VERY good authority she's also working on a little monster elucien, and right after I typed that I saw she's actually posted the first chapter, Seven Tears for the Sea, which is selkie Lucien, coastal Elain, I believe. I will be reading that for sure, just as soon as I finish this list, but everyone else should too!

I Believe the Word You're Looking for is "Friends" by @kingofsummer93. Truly Elucien 101 required reading. It's actually on the made-up syllabus I just created in my mind. If you're wanting to settle into a long fic, canon-compliant, adventure fic, THIS is it. Also, people are always asking for BOE smut, well she has so GRACIOUSLY provided it with The Intimacy of Being Understood

Remember, We're Madly In Love by @velidewrites. Have you ever seen one of those really gorgeous mood boards floating around and asked yourself, is that person also an incredibly sexy writer, too? Well I'm here to answer that question with a resounding YES. This is hunger games Feysand and if you've been thinking about reading it, stop thinking and start doing. I don't know when I became a sales person during this sharing of faves, but here we are I guess.

Vanserra Wildlife Rescue by @headcanonheadcase. In the haze that was elucien week, where everyone was creating and I was trying so hard to see all of it (and failing miserably), this fic was a gem. It's meet cute Elucien- he's a wildlife vet, she finds an injured fox. They're both on their way to a blind date (I wonder who they're meeting), and instead cancel to take care of the fox.

Can't Help It by @moodymelanist. This fic was literally why I decided to answer this anon. Nesta and Cassian are in a very toxic relationship but can't keep away from each other. I LOVE this fic, I love their dynamic and without spoiling it, there is a threesome I am still so deeply unwell about, even to this day.

Wonderland by @c-e-d-dreamer. The premise is SO GOOD. Nesta rejects the mating bond and Cassian rejects society. They reconnect later on, and the angst is SO DELICIOUS.

This list is getting really long- I could do this all day, actually. As for my top two @the-lonelybarricade favorites, which is cruel just fyi.

You Look Like Bad News- Elain's neighbor has an annoying habit of fucking REALLY loudly next door.

I’ve seen E/riel’s say > “that Elucien’s (book) theories all revolve around Lucien and not Elain (like how Gwynriel’s theories revolve around Azriel & not Gwyn), because she needs to leave the NC & her family to find herself and become her own person. She needs to leave her friends Nuala and Cerridwen who played a pivotal part in her healing. The rejected mating bond that's been hinted at has nothing to do with Elain. It has to do with Lucien's parents, Helion and Lady Autumn. A rejected mate bond would be a huge storyline for any book but it's going to be a side plot with the side characters involved in Lucien's storyline. Who cares about Elain being a seer or a spy when she can play the socialite trophy wife to Lucien the grand Emissary and High Lord. She can mingle and plan parties and be pretty and charming at balls because apparently she's a giant extrovert (which we have not seen). For all this discourse around an E/riel book being bad for Elain because Azriel would be the focus and not Elain, I have yet to see a plot for an elucien book that centers on Elain and not Lucien. So I find it hard to believe they actually care about Elain, when she seems like nothing more than a means to an end to give the poor ginger cinammon roll Lucien the story and ending they think he deserves. That Elain is expected to live with Jurian, who was directly responsible for her being Made, and be neighbors with Graysen. Because her mate decided that it was totally appropriate for him to be friends with both of those specimens.”

E/riel’s are acting as if we’re saying Elain needs to forget her family and she’ll never get to visit them. Feyre literally called Elain a pleasant companion and the wraith twins are being paid by Feysand to spend time with Elain. It’s literally canon. I’ve seen many Elucien’s discuss theories on Elain and her seer abilities. Her taking down Koschei, involved with Vassa, fixing/healing Spring Court. Elain being a spy doesn’t make sense given the characterization of her character. Elain does give off high society vibes. She danced and personally greeted each guest at balls. Nesta said that Elain used to enjoy balls and parties. Elain who could convince anyone to do anything with a few smiles. I do believe that Elain is an extrovert, but she’s traumatized (understandably) after being thrown into the Cauldron and everything else. I’ve never seen an Elucien call Elain a trophy wife. It’s like E/riel’s are putting words in our mouths.

I’ve seen E/riel’s talk about how Elain is so similar to Mor: bright, extroverted. But then they change it to Elain being in introvert then back to her being an extrovert, or how she’s an ambivert. They constantly change her personality and the theories about her character/their “forbidden romance” ship. If Lucien chose to live in Velaris, I could see E/riel’s throwing a fit. “He’s stalking/harassing her!” But then they criticize him for not putting in “enough effort”.

And Gwynriel’s have come up with so many theories/story arcs about Gwyn outside of Azriel. Her wielding Gwydion, her possibly finding Narben, her research on other worlds, working through her trauma, using her invoking stone, leaving the library, her sisters death.

I see this all this time anon!! Such a popular argument among Elriels that all of the stuff with Koschei and Beron and Spring all focus on Lucien and not Elain. But I don’t see it that way. I think Elriels think this because they believe Elain is happy and thriving in the Night Court. They have a difficult time imagining a scenario in which Elain leaves the NC to discover her true purpose and what she wants out of her immortal life. And I guess yeah, if Elain were truly content it would seem silly for her to leave. But is Elain’s destiny really to live in the background of Feyre’s life? No, of course not. Just like it wasn’t Nesta’s to fill whatever role Feyre could come up with once the wall came down in ACOWAR. Each sister has her own unique journey. I think it’s crazy to suggest that the mating bond between Elain and Lucien is some minor issue. This is a huge deal in sjm books, as she has made clear many times. It’s part of Elain accepting herself as Fae, coming to terms with the loss of her human fiancé and the life she imagined for herself, that she can still have an epic love despite having lost her first love. Lucien can help her do that because he’s suffered something similar. I think right now we are not seeing Elain at her best, based on what we know about how she was as a human. She could charm anyone with a single smile, beloved by everyone she meets, a ray of sunshine, etc. Is this what we see from Elain right now? No. So just because we don’t know exactly what the plot will entail doesn’t mean it’s Lucien-centered. (Although I love Lucien so much I am dying for him to at least get 50% of the POV of the next book!) I have never seen any Elucien theory reduce Elain to being a “trophy wife” so that definitely sounds made up!

Minor HOFAS Spoilers ahead!

As far as Gwyn goes, I think it’s very obvious how much more she and Azriel have in common. They both have intense trauma, they both suffer from feelings of not being worthy of love, they are both tied to the Illyrian plotline via the blood rite, they both have a connection to the multiverse (Azriel due to his interactions with the Asteri and Gwyn with her research into multiple worlds with Merrill). Add in the bonus chapter and I think it’s pretty obvious where things are headed 🤷‍♀️

Also side note, what did they expect Jurian to do to stop the king of Hybern? Jurian is a hero who has likely seen more horrors than probably any other character considering he lived as an eyeball for 500(?) years and had to watch every horrific thing Amarantha did. I think implying he’s some evil asshole is so silly. Jurian is awesome. 😤

I think Elriels are jealous of Rhys the same way they’re jealous of Feyre and Feysand. I read a lot of Elriel fics (because I do ship Elriel) and a lot of them have sentences like “Azriel was the one to fear, not Rhys” and just lines that give the vibe of Azriel being the real dom of the inner circle. A lot of them have scenes where Azriel yells at everyone for “how they treat him” the same way Elain fans headcanon her yelling at the inner circle as well. I think they want Azriel to be just like Rhys and have a lot of power and stuff. It’s so embarrassing. I can’t wait for all of them to be disappointed when Azriel is written blandly and all the focus is on Elain (not that I enjoy her stans either… Azriel stans are just another level of crazy. All this for a MAN???????)

Oh they definitely are😭. Elriels see Azriel in a totally different way than the rest of this fandom. They actually like that boring ass man and genuinely believe that he’s better than Rhys. I was reading an ff once and in it they literally said that Rhys was “trying to be like Azrie but never would be”.

I’ve even seen some of them theorize that he’s the prince of dawn or the prince of hel. Like be serious he’s someone who takes orders from Rhys. Azriel stans woobify him the same way Lucien stans do. It’s seen especially in the way they treat Mor. To them Azriel is some sensitive baby who’s being manipulated and taken advantage of while Mor is an evil jealous woman stringing him along for attention. Even though literally nothing Mor has done gives Azriel a hint that’s she’s interested and he’s just a dumbass.

They overestimate him all whole babying him in the exact same way Lucien fans do.

I'm honestly so tired of sjm and at this point I'm losing interest in everything dhe does now. I used to be so excited about elain & elriel and the whole world including feysand & IC but now I'm fed up of this. I don't know what it was about acosf but it just killed my love for most characters. They all look boring to me rhys, feyre, nesta. All of them are just boring, bland and dumb characters now. Cassian is just horny for nesta, that's it. That's his entire personality. Elain as a character intrigued me because she has such a mystery around her but I don't expect sjm to do her justice. I'm scared it's going to be another cheap book like sf. Do you think nesta's book was an anomaly and we'll have better books in future? She says she wants to make "smart choices" but I really have no idea what are smart choices to her. She thinks acosf was a masterpiece so I don't trust her. Her writing has regressed so much recently it's actually shocking. People openly laugh and mock at her books and call them "faerie porn" it's kinda sad actually.

Also are there any other fantasy books with a similar vibe? I'm hearing a lot about leigh bardugo because of the netflix show. I've never read her books before but now I'm getting curious. Are they really good?

I hear you, and I understand. ACOSF was a disaster. And I am just hoping that it was a one off.

I want to read the next book and see what she'll come up with and how the crossover would be treated, etc.

It's incredibly hard to say anything about Elriel, because we obviously have nothing to go on in terms of some concrete storyline. Now with the crossover, it's even harder to predict. It might be an amazing book, or it might be a disaster like ACOSF.

I am just hoping that it's a lot less emotional and that she cares about the story and not her panic attacks or whatever. I don't need her to 'live vicariously' through Elain. I would much rather prefer that Elain remains a character in SJM's mind, and not an extension of SJM's psyche. When SJM removes herself from her writing, she writes much better.

You convinced me that the next book is by Elain, respectively by Elucien. Honestly, it totally makes sense that their book. Their story has been screaming for years to be written. I think her talking about Azriel was a way to keep interest in Acotar.

A chapter of it was good for us to know what his secret was, something that was answered on the page.

If SJM talks a lot about Lucien, we'll automatically know it's a book he'll have pov. I couldn't accept Lucien not getting a book, given that of all the males in the series, he has the most history.

In Starfall Elain was close to Helion and Lucien. The bell rang for me in that moment that when Nesta was settled with the Night Court, Elain was in the same vein as Lucien.

"Lucien can win a book with Vassa" would be too lame, as the two alone wouldn't need the Night Court (Feysand) as central as SJM said.

Book of Elucien would have connection with this couple and court. Now Vassien? it's a big joke.

People are scared or convinced it's Elriel because Azriel gained pov and prominence, and the next book could be Elain's.

If it's Elriel to acotar5 nobody will care about acotar6. Vassa and Lucien would be an isolated core, but bringing Elucien brings so many possibilities, not only for them, it would give space to develop Azriel, Gwyn, pegasus, Daytime and Spring.

But I don't trust SJM that much, I think she makes up some forced stuff and retcons. Expectations are high, but I'm not fooled.

Can you imagine Lucien not gaining a main pov also in acotar5 or acotar6?

All any of us have to work with right now are the possible clues she's given and based on those it feels like Elucien to me.

Of course I could up wrong because what's obvious to me is not at all obvious to someone else who thinks Gwynriel or E/riel is next. But I do think Elucien is a serious contender for the next book!

Az did feature heavily in SF but really, how could he not? He's Cassian's best friend.

Mor was prominently featured in ACOMAF, ACOWAR and ACOFAS as she was Feyre's friend but that didn't mean she was getting the next book in the series. Instead SJM chose to focus on Feyre's sister. Even though Gwyn (Nesta's friend) and Az played major roles in SF, SJM could still once again choose to focus on the other sister.

All her characters are important but it would surprise me if SJM said "Feyre gets a story! Nesta gets a story! But now I'm going to give the next book to a new character over the last sister".

Especially when that sister has had an unfulfilled mating bond since ACOMAF. When Lucien still doesn't know his father. When he still doesn't have a real home. When Spring still needs to get itself together. When we're shown Elain doesn't belong in the NC. To me those things seem a little more pressing than Az realizing he has a Mate after his fixating on having a bond with two other women.

I did love that part and I'm excited you noticed it too!

She had a vague sense of Cassian and Mor and Azriel nearby, of Feyre and Rhys and Lucien, of Elain and Varian and Helion.

Elain is standing with her Mates father! So many possibilities. Does she get a vibe being close to Helion? Does something seem familiar about him?

As far as Vassa and Lucien, I don't know how anyone can see that these lines and believe Jurian and Vassa are happening:

It doesn't seem like a coincidence that SJM mentions a sliver of Human Land without a king and a queen. That Jurian would have been crowned King and we know that Vassa is a Queen who no longer has her old territory to rule over. That they both share a similar vision for the humans. That's Jassa endgame right there. Plus SJM described them the same way she spoke of Nessian "at each other's throats".

I would be shocked if Lucien didn't get a book because she she always intended him to end up with one of the sisters (Nesta at first until she realized they wouldn't be a match".

She's also spoken of him being one of her favorite characters, changed his father and made that father an even more relevant character to the series, given him unknown yet developing powers, an unaccepted Mating Bond, death of his first love, abused by Tamlin and ianthe, is currently getting a little of the underdog treatment because the others don't realize how intelligent and powerful he's going to be. I don't remember any of her MMC ever getting this kind of main character energy but that's what she's set Lucien to to have.

I’ve git inspired by the hp anon: what are your favorite acotar ships? or any ship you do not like at all as well!

OK LETS GET INTO IT! I’ll try and briefly explain why as well. When I say I “like” a ship, I mean that I actively seek content for it or would rb it if it came up on my dash.

SHIPS I LIKE:

- Neris: We all know my feelings on this one! This is what should have been.

- Nezriel: Didn’t quite get it until I read Nesta vs the Buffer by ladyofbloodshed, but it really does work. At the end of the day I want Nesta to be cared for and protected as she heals, and canon Cassian wasn’t doing it.

- Azris: They are both SO messed up but they’d be a power couple.

- Gwynlain: This is just a good wholesome ship. Every time I see art of them I’m reblogging it, but I haven’t read any fics of them.

- Tamsand: Childhood friends to lovers to enemies… need I say more?

- Rhysta: This is the wokest acotar ship, and they would be SO TOXIC but in a sexy way.

- Tamcien: They were living together for a long time, you can’t convince me it didn’t happen at least once. There is also clearly a lot of love between them, at least in TAR.

- Elucien: This pairing has so much potential it’s insane… not even just in terms of the characters just where the plot can take them (Autumn, Day, and beyond). If I don’t get to read Lucien as a love interest in canon, I’m done with these books fr

- Helion x LoA: I just want her to be happy 😭

- Lucnes: They would help each other heal, they have SO MUCH in common. SJM was wrong when she said they would tear each other apart!!

- Nesta x The Mercenary: This ship embodies what I like about nessian, but gay. We need to let Nesta be an intellectual with a muscular guard dog type character.

- Emerie x Balthazar: I love Balthazar and he needs to be brought back. I’m also intrigued by the idea of a ship that is between two Illyrians like maybe we can finally get a nuanced view of their culture.

- Gwynriel: Azriel is a total mess so he needs to shape up before he’s deserving of Gwyn, but the potential here is crazy.

- Neslin: Two deeply flawed and broken people. I like the idea of Nesta finding refuge in Spring, and helping Tam rebuild his court. She has a flair for politics that Feyre doesn’t, and from her upbringing would know how to conduct herself as a noblewoman.

- Nesta x Mor: I know I don’t like Mor, but this would be hot. Both of them would soften up as soon as they got to know each other more.

- Cassian x Rhys: Another one where you can’t tell me this didn’t happen at least once.

- Elriel: I came around to this one recently. Do I like it as much as elucien? No, but the forbidden aspect does appeal to me.

- Nesta x Jurian: thank you ladyofbloodshed for putting this in my brain. It’s just so… 🥰🥰

SHIPS I EITHER DISLIKE OR HAVE COMPLEX FEELINGS ABOUT

- Canon Nessian: i mean where do I even begin with this… ACOSF has been discussed to death. However I do indulge in some nessian fanfic from time to time, and the talented people on here know how to correct the dynamic so it’s something we can all enjoy.

- Feysand: I was all in on feysand until the baby thing happened in SF. However, there is really good feysand fanfic out there that I will read from time to time.

- Emorie: Mor is really not my favorite character, I can’t lie. However, I could come around to this if I read a good fic or if we get a sympathetic storyline from her in a future book.

- Feycien: Idk, this just doesn’t work for me. I can’t explain why I’m not feeling it, but I’m not.

- Feylin: I see why people loved it in TAR, but it’s not something I will seek out bc it’s just been nuked so much by canon. I prefer them with other people.

- Tamlain: Their personalities would not work together. I’m also too elucien brained to even consider this.

- Amren x Varian: After Amren and Nesta fell out, I was not vibing with her. But even beyond that, this pairing makes no sense.

- Moriel or Mor x Cassian: NO. JUST NO.

- Lucien x Vassa: I don’t like ships where one party is mortal, especially with Lucien bc he has been through enough as it is.

Unpopular opinion (My own opinion, this doesn't need to be taken personal): I wouldn't like it if Elriel is endgame, I don't really like Elain (she's not done anything wrong I just don't vibe with her) but the main problem to me is that I find it boring and kinda repetitive? Like the three brothers for three sisters kind of thing just feels meh to me. You already have Feysand and Nessian, why would you do it again? 😫 Now, does it mean that I ship Azriel with Gwyn? No, I haven't read ACOSF to be honest (for other reasons) so I don't know anything about their dynamic. I would like for Az to have his own love story, you know? Not necessarily falling behind his brothers, it would be more exciting TO ME if his s/o mate or whatever isn't an Archeron sister. Even if it's not even Gwyn. And the same goes for Elain, she doesn't have to follow her sisters steps. Idk just my thoughts on it.

• 1000% agree Azriel would be rly into motorcycles! & Elain as the quiet mechanic with every tool imaginable and the skills to properly use every single one. Self taught. Could you imagine the cute bits of grease smeared on her forehead and cheeks at the end of an engine project. She'd be so adorable in a little mechanic jumpsuit. I can visualize her instructing Rhys on how to change the oil.

• Elain taking a Polaroid camera with her everywhere she goes. Mostly to document new flower varieties she sees out & about that she'd like to try to grow.. or taking candids of Azriel. She knit the camera case & strap herself. She puts the very special candids of her family on the fridge; captures of Feysand being dorky cute parents, a soft moment between Cass & Nesta, Amren soothing Nyx, etc.

• Azriel creating a soft, lofi, jazzy-vibes-with-piano-melodies Spotify playlist for Elain.

• Feyre gifting Elain a legit professional grade microscope for Solstice.

• The absolute COMEDY from the batboys discovering & using walkie talkies.

• The burp that comes from Cassian as he tries soda for the first time. He takes the tiniest sip at first but likes it so much, he literally chugs a liter in less than 10 seconds. His burps sets a record and wakes Nyx up from his nap.

• Feyre leading the IC in spray painting a beautiful meaningful mural on an empty wall beneath one of the city bridges. Amren keeps trying to slyly remove her ventilation mask because she likes the smell of the fumes.

•Cassian mistaking Mor's new plumping lip balm as regular chapstick. He sees it on the kitchen counter, tries to be stealthy about using real quick.. has an adverse reaction and his lips blow up 5x in size. Nesta & Feyre can't even look in his direction without bursting into a tearful laughing fit.

• Elain falls in love with making bubble waffles. She makes them every single morning for the IC. She wraps them up to-go in sheets from the daily news paper. They look like giant waffle cones with elegant toppings. Cassian, Feyre, and Rhys like theirs savory with bacon and sautéed onions & veggies. Azriel & Mor prefer them sweet with fruit and nutella. Amren takes hers plain. Varian takes his with powdered sugar only.
