Forest Deity 🌲🌳

Been chipping away at this one for a long, long time. A continuation of me drawing my best friends as statues/deities with shrines. I like to draw these as if my little witch OC, Padithe, is traveling to them and learning magic ❤️✨

A statue depicting a forest deity sits under a powerful waterfall. At sunrise and sunset, the gem in the statue's hand swirls with bright clouds. The deity provides protection to the forest and all that inhabit it. Some say there used to be two gems in the statues hands, one to represent death and the other to represent re-birth, however this is only a myth. If one provides an offering on the rock before it, they can be rest assured that the forest will provide for them in times of great need

i have grown kinda tired of all the studio ghibli and totk comparisons bc i love most of miyazakis movies and its so annoyingly obvious that if totk actually took inspiration from them its all just the surface level aesthetic and none of the good story telling

In 2019 I did a colored pencil/water pencil series of goddesses. I believe all of them were transparent-ed on to the same parchment paper background to maintain the theme. Colored pencil is a unique critter to wrangle, and it plays nicer on some paper more that others.

So I’ve been on a witchcraft journey for awhile now. Trying to really step in fully to my witchhood and dedicate myself completely to it. I’ve been struggling a bit for a variety of reasons but I saw the recent solar eclipse as a perfect opportunity to cement myself into my magic and my spirituality (esp bc everyone was saying that the eclipse was especially impactful to 🦀 like me!). And since the gods are so important to me I decided it was time to have a patron god of my witchcraft to help guide me.

I called out to the gods and asked for an obvious sign on who should be my patron and Artemis smacked me in the face like “here’s your sign, bitch!” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
