There is so much about the pre-teen years that I find challenging, but I love seeing my child discovering who they are. I am here for all of it, and I will forever and always support them in living their full, authentic life.
While sitting together on the couch recently, my child said, “Mom, I think I’m gender fluid.” I immediately responded by saying, “Oh, that’s cool, do you want me to use different pronouns?” They said yes to please start using they/them but that some days they may ask me to use she/her or he/him.
I must admit, I felt really, really proud of my child and I felt like this was a parenting win. They…
The term Two-Spirit initially emerged into contemporary vernacular in the 1990s when Indigenous people began actively resisting colonial values and processes and are working towards the reclamation of Two-Spirit identities. Indigenous LGBTT2QQIA groups rejected the Western anthropological definitions of Indigenous homosexual and transgender people and determined that the mainstream lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender identities did not include their Indigenous cultural understandings of gender and sexuality.3 Two-Spirit is a self-descriptor used by all gender and sexual variant Indigenous people in Canada and the United States that honours our ancestral past and reclaims our Indigenous identity. * * * * #twospirit #nativeart #2slgbtqiaplus #genderidentity #genderexpression #tomboy #androgynous #lesbian #genderfluid #reclaimyourpower #strongresilientindigenous #lgbtqia #lgbtqia2s #indigenous #indigenousart #haudenosaunee #drag #itsthelgbt #genderfluid #indigenousqueer #gendernonconforming #genderqueer #lgbtqyouth #indigiqueer #queeraf #nonbinarygender #enby (at Akwesasne Mohawk Territory) https://www.instagram.com/p/CjTL-LGLPxt/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Day 22: Demiboy (also called a Demiguy, a Demiman, or a Demidude) is a gender identity describing someone who partially identifies as a man or boy. In addition to feeling partially like a boy or man, demiboys also feel partly outside the binary. A Day of Recognition and Reflection
Transgender Day of Visibility is not just a day of celebration but also a profound reminder of the ongoing battle for equality faced by transgender individuals. Despite the progress made, many still confront violence, discrimination, and the denial of their basic rights and freedoms.
The U.S. Department of State's acknowledgment of this day reaffirms the nation's stance against such injustices and its dedication to championing a society where every individual can live authentically and safely.
The Administration's Proactive Steps
Under President Biden's leadership, the U.S. has taken significant strides toward enhancing the lives of transgender Americans.
From issuing annual proclamations that recognize the valor and contributions of transgender individuals to implementing policies that ensure their access to essential services and rights, these measures reflect a concerted effort to address the challenges facing the transgender community.
Confronting Discrimination Head-On
Amidst a troubling wave of discriminatory laws targeting transgender youth and families across various states, the Biden administration has been vocal in its criticism, denouncing these actions as fundamentally un-American.
The call for the passage of the Equality Act is a testament to the administration's resolve to extend civil rights protections to all, irrespective of gender identity or expression.
Global Advocacy for Transgender Rights
Beyond its borders, the U.S. Department of State has taken a stand on the international stage, advocating for the rights and inclusion of transgender persons.
Through its statements on Transgender Day of Visibility, the U.S. has called upon global partners to join in the fight against the discrimination and violence that transgender people face, emphasizing the need for a collective effort to ensure their safety and freedom.
Final Thoughts
As we observe Transgender Day of Visibility, it's crucial to recognize the resilience and achievements of transgender individuals.
The U.S. Department of State's acknowledgment of this day is a clear indication of America's commitment to fostering an environment where every person, regardless of their gender identity, is valued and respected.
Through ongoing efforts at both the national and international levels, the U.S. continues to champion the cause of transgender rights, striving towards a future marked by equality, dignity, and inclusivity.
Let us all commit to this vision, ensuring a safer, more equitable world for transgender individuals everywhere.

SEATTLE TEACHER TOLD STUDENTS IDENTIFYING AS 'STRAIGHT' IS OFFENSIVE
“A history teacher at a Seattle high school who previously came under fire for lessons on sexual orientation and gender identity allegedly told students that identifying as "straight" is offensive...”
First, one has to wonder why a history teacher is addressing the issue of gender identity in his curriculum. It’s one thing for a teacher to go rogue (many do) but if this is an approved curriculum the blame has to be laid on the administration and curriculum director.
That said, the teacher should be fired for disenfranchising the straight (read: majority) students and teaching factually incorrect material. Then, anyone with a child still in a government school is out of their minds anyway, so…
