With you alone in a room filled with darkness you can make it bright again. That is how it is with Giyu and you, you were a kind slayer to the water pillar making sure he was alright. As his only close friend Giyu from a really young age he always put his trust in you. So that's why when the fight against Muzan and the other demons was finally over he was relieved to see you alive. So he thought it was nice seeing you help him out, like cutting his hair and helping him do small chores around his home. “Giyu i got dinner ready” “Ah thank you Y/n”, you came over helping Giyu up to his feet walking with him to the table and serving him. “So Giyu i think i might head to the town tomorrow just to get a few things” “May i come with you” “Of course, well you were going to go no matter what”. Again you put a smile on his face as you two finished up dinner you did your nightly routine. By cleaning up, making sure the laundry was done and beds were comfortable. As Giyu got in bed he heard a knock, “Come in”.
You entered the Giyu room as you sat on his bed. “Are you comfortable” “I am thank you Y/n” “That’s no problem, i just wanted to make sure you were okay”, that smile you always gave him was the calmest thing in his life he knew he couldn’t live without it. “Y/n would you want to sleep here tonight” “Huh” “Oh i’m sorry just forget it-” “Nononono, you just caught me off guard, i would love to sleep here”. After that you Giyu made some room for you as you went under the blankets right next to him.
“Y/n why do you stay by my side?” “Why do I stay by your side? Because I love you Giyu, I always have”, Giyu turned to your smiling face. And with that Giyu face was a blushing mess, thanks to night's darkness you didn’t see but you knew. WIth that you pulled him in as you set his head on your shoulder, rubbing his back soothing him. “I kind of figured you liked me and by your actions you feel the same way” “I do, I always have since we were little” “Me too, but we will talk more tomorrow when the sun is up and have a date in the town” “That sounds nice”.
And with that the moon was finally with its sun and the two slept all night. Close together not letting each other. And with that every night you two will blow out the candles and cuddle each other to sleep, dreaming of your future together.

DAY 8: TOYS
With: Giyuu Tomioka
Word Count: 2.1k
Warnings: Sub! Giyuu, gn! reader, modern day au, vibrators, bullet vibrator, anal play, nipple clams, vibrating cock ring, reader lowkey sadistic, safeword mentioned, giyuu crying/sobbing,
A/N: i struggled writing this and i have no idea why. welp.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“There are so many…Where did you find them?” Giyuu mumbles into your neck, sitting behind you on your shared bed, completely bare. His face has turned a bright red, and hes getting extra clingy, meaning that he must be embarrassed. But he is embarrassed majority of the time you do anything remotely not vanilla, so you are used to it.
You sit with a grin, staring at the items layed in front of you. Most of them are a shade of pink, but some are purple, or dark blue. Toys. You have acquired a bunch of sex toys, and today you were going to try them out on your adorable, stone-faced, boyfriend. “Online. Do you want me to explain what they all are?”
He nods into the back of your neck, peering over your shoulder, and wrapping his arms tighter around your waist.
His eyes scan the multitude of silicon, and the strangely shaped devices. He has never owned nor even talked about sex toys, and the fake pussy is staring right at him, and is making him squirm uncomfortably. You pick it up, laughing at the way he seems to cower at it. “This is a fleshlight. We also have another one over here,” This one was a green color, and just looked like a cylinder with texture on the inside. He liked this one immediately more. “You fuck it instead of your hand.” He blushes at the bluntness of your words but nods.
You set the two down, and Giyuu makes sure to turn away the lewder fleshlight so that it doesn’t face him. You giggle at him but don’t say anything and begin to search for your next item.Your hands trace to a white wand-shaped item, bigger than the rest of them. “Watch this,” You say, clicking on the button to see it jump to life. Giyuu’s eyes widen at the loudness of it, and how strong the vibrations are, and he unconsciously leans into you. “This is a vibrator.” You place it on his chest, and he jumps when they graze his sensitive nipples, shooting you a half-hearted glare. “We also have a bullet vibrator.” You grab the pink circular vibrator with the long attachment cord. “I have some fun ideas for this.”
He covers his face and groans when you playfully slap his ass. “Alright, two more.”
Giyuus eyes wander to a mental chain with two clamps on both ends. Before you can continue, he cuts you off, pointing to it and mumbling out, “What is this?”
Your face lights up, and you place a hand on his thigh, leaning forward to whisper into his ear teasingly, “Nipple clamps.” You grab the chain from his hand, and pinch the two sides, staring at his chest in awe. “Bet they’ll make your cute nipples all red and swollen,” You sigh, mouth already watering at the idea.
He flinches, pulling away. “Th-Thats gonna hurt,” The dark-haired man complains, trying to hide away from your sadistic gaze. He squirms when you laugh, and grabs a purple silicon circle, hoping to distract you. “And this?”
“Mhmm, may be my favorite. Cock ring. Prevents you from cumming, and look!” You press the button, sending the toy to life. “It also vibrates. Man, Giyuu, you are going to have so much fun tonight!”
His face pales slightly, and he drops the toy. “I don’t like that one,” He frowns, not liking the idea of not being able to cum at all.
You peck his mouth, ignoring his complaint. “Hmm, most men don’t. But you’ll look so cute!”
He lets out a small whimper, hoping to coax some sympathy from you, but you just smile at him, petting his head. “It’s gonna be fun. And you will have your safeword. So if you don’t like anything too much, we can stop.”
He doesn’t say anything, instead moving closer to you. You feel something tap your thigh, and grin when you look down. “Well, arent you excited?”
He gulps, looks up at you one more time, and then buries his head into your neck with a whine, mentally preparing for what’s to come.
Tumblr media
He was right to prepare, he was already trembling before you even turned anything on. He yelps when you clamp the second nipple on, and you wipe away a stray tear. “Hurts,” he whines, cringing when he glances down at his chest.
“Sorry love, it’s over now. That was a little uncomfortable, huh Giyuu?” You murmur, cupping his face and kissing his cheek. The words make him feel like a child being comforted after getting wounded, but still, he melts at the tone, playing into it by sniffling and nodding. “Oh you’re so cute, just makes me wanna tease you.”
He whimpers, frowning at you and shaking his head. You pull away and run your fingers down his body, and then sit back on your knees before him. He lays on his back, hands on your knee, while blinking at you, waiting patiently for what’s next to cum.
He lays naked, and with one hand on your knee, seeking comfort. The thin chain connects his two nipples together, and lays lax against his pale chest. On his cock, is the cockring, that sits silently, waiting for you to turn it on. His dick fumes against his stomach, twitching in arousal. Next to him, lay the light green fleshlight (he convinced you to put away the pussy one), and the wand vibrator. And finally, the pink bullet vibrator is up his ass, and grazing his prostate.
“Alright, let’s start this, yeah? How many times do you think you are gonna cum?” You tease, distracting him as you reach in between his thighs, and click on the vibrator.
He jumps, sighing out when he feels the low vibrations inside him. “Don’t know,” He mumbles, “Maybe two times?”
You giggle, shaking your head. “Way too low of a guess, silly boy.” The sound of the cockring clicks to life, and Giyuus eyes visibly widen. It was at a higher intensity than the bullet vibrator, and it surprised him.
The two intense feelings send him shivering, and quietly moaning out. His hand grips onto your knee, and he buries his head into the pillow, panting into the soft fabric. You smile at him, and then grab the fleshlight, quickly pouring a copious amount of lube in.
You then steady his hips, huffing a laugh to see them already trembling. Then you force the fleshlight onto his cock, marveling at the lewd squelching noise.
His reaction is immediate, bucking his hips into it, but then frantically pulling away, as if he was confused. “Wait. Wait. Wait. At the same time?” Giyuu uncharacteristically yelps, eyes wide and staring at you in panic.
You cock your head to the side. “Of course? What did you think we were doing?” He tries to respond, but it’s cut off by a moan when you slide the entire thing back on. It’s too big, considering the cockring covers too much space, so the tip ends about halfway into the toy.
The vibrations travel to the silicon when the two toys touch, and it sends Giyuu crying out. “F-Fuckkkk. No no no. It’s too much!”
His hips barely touch the ground anymore. Frantically moving from side to side, and then bucking upward into the toy without his consent. His frantic movements send heat to your groin, and you reach around in between his thighs to turn up the bullet vibrator to the highest level.
His thighs instictually close shut, and your hand almost got caught in his trap. You smack his upper thigh gently, in a tease, but he doesn’t seem to notice. His back is arching and he is gripping the sheets, letting out a silent scream. Giyuus face is buried into the pillow, but he’s whipping his head from side to side, overwhelmed with all the sensations.
You pump his dick slowly, instead focusing your attention on your obviously overstimulated boyfriend. “I can’t–I can’t. Oh my god, it’s everywhere,” he cries, legs sporadically bending and then kicking out.
His body forces himself to the side, moving your hand aside, as his hips come up. Then he turns himself completely over, onto his hands and knees as he screams into the pillow, while bucking his hips backward and forward into the two vibrations. He hiccups when he feels his nipples being tugged at by the force of gravity on the clamps.
“There ya go. More comfortable on your hands and knees?” You don’t wait for him to respond, brushing his hair to the side. “Now, what’s everywhere, Giyuu?”
He sobs something into the pillow, but you can’t hear it, so you gently pinch his thigh. He gets the memo immediately, and pulls away, balancing on shaky hands, as drool coats his face. “T-The vibrations–Everywhere!” He hiccups, lifting his ass higher in the air as his eyes roll back.
A sadistic urge boils in your stomach as you glance at the white vibrator. He was wrong….They weren’t everywhere, and you wanted to change that. With one hand, you bring the fleshlight back to his cock, and then gulp, before picking up the wand, and switching it on.
He doesn’t hear the new sound of the vibrator, focused completely on the feeling of the fleshlight again. His hips drill into it, and then occasionally arch as if to push himself deeper into the bullet vibrator.
You reach under him, and gently place the wand on the chain. It pulls it down, and also sends vibrations rippling through the chains.
Giyuu’s eyes widen, and then immediately he sobs into the pillow, cringing as his fists jab into the bed sheets. His nipples are being pulled at, and are vibrating profusely. “Ow. Owwwww, stop stop! Its–I can’t–Oh help me!”
Before you get lost in the mouthwatering view, you are quick to ask if he is all alright. “Your color?”
“Green. Green,” He hiccups, “But you are so–so mean to me!”
You kiss his upper thigh and continue to move your hands up and down his shaft. His whole body trembles, and the only thing louder than the multiple vibrations, was his constant moans and cries. “But you are gonna cum soon, right, Giyuu?” You coo, watching the way pre begins to dribble out, and helps lube the toy.
He nods into the pillow, body beginning to collapse on itself. You are quick to pull him upright, liking the view of his trembling ass, and shaking dick a little too much. “Bet it's going to be intense,” You mumble, “Bet it’s going to feel so good.”
Your words send his head spinning because you are right. He feels himself approach closer and closer to it, and its never been this intense before. Every sensitive part of his body is being stimulated, and it hasn’t even been five minutes.
You know the signs of your lover beginning to approach his orgasm, and you take the cockring off. One of these days youll use it to deny him his release, but not today, that would be too brutal with everything that is going on. He doesn’t notice, because it’s immediately replaced by the fleshlight fucking him up and down.
“Please. Please. I–” He falters, forgetting how to speak when his orgasm hits him. His whole body shakes, and he sees white. Every inch of his body is screaming out, and he has got to be on cloud nine.
He stays silent through it all though, eyes rolling back, and teeth biting into the pillow. Cum shoots out, onto his stomach and the sheets, and you smile through it all.
His legs collapse moments later and his whole body falls limp against the sheets, jerking sporadically from the continuous vibrations on his prostate. Giyuu felt as if his brain melted, his every thought truly fucked out of him.
He feels his hips being lifted again, your arm supporting him, and he glances at you with hazy blue eyes. “Don’t pass out on me now,” You tease, strapping the cockring back into place. “We still got at least two more orgasms to pull from you.”
And the second the vibrations turn on, he seems to snap awake, but its too late. “W-Wait!”
You just laugh, and bring the wand vibrator back to his now-redden nipples.

Demon slayer won so here is❕ idea is you die and they meet your reincarnation in the future (not proof read)
Tumblr media
Giyu Tomioka
Anger and sadness is all giyu felt. Only if he was quicker you would still be alive, breathing and yet your not. Instead your on your knees hunched over with half of your body gone. “Come on… wake up…please” he said while hugging your body or what is left behind. “Don’t leave me… you promised me you wouldn’t” giyu started too shake your “body” “YOU PROMISED ME, YOU SAID YOU WOULD STAY” as Giyu continues to shake your body and yells at you then the kakushi get there and try to take your body. “NO LET GO THEIR STILL ALIVE” some of the kakushi have to try to break his hold on you. After a good while they got your body and started to run back to the headquarters graveyard. “No,no you can’t do this to me” Giyu said on his knees crying for you to come back but you never did. Before Giyu’s last breath he thought of you and how much he wish to see you.
In the future giyu was walking to the gym room to only see… you. Breathing, walking, and talking. He ran up to you and gave you a tight loving hug. But something was wrong with you. You turned around and asked who he was… no you should know him giyu tomioka your lover, husband.. you must be joking you know who he is. As he continues to stare at you with a blank expression you start to get uncomfortable and push him off of you then start to run away… why are you running from your husband… don’t you love him… oh well you will learn to love him again and if not he has other ways.
Kyojuro Rengoku
You saved him, you sacrifice yourself to save him. He should have been in your position , it have been the other way around. Him dead and you living not you dead and him living. You must be playing you just want to play around..Yea! That’s it your just joking around but it time to stop now! “Come on reader! We have to go and fight more demons and save the innocents!” He said smiling at you, “come it’s time to wake up! We have work to finish then we can go home and cuddle each other!”. “Mr. Rengoku their gone-“ “NO… no their fine they are just taking a nap” has rengoku continues to try to “wake” you up the kakushi arrive and try’s to take the body. “what are you doing. can’t you see I’m trying to wake them up…” “but sir their-“ “I swear. if you say what I think you’re going to say you’re gonna end up like the demons I slay (💅) “he said to the kakushi while look dead into there eyes with a blank face.“I-i mean we are just going to take them to headquarters so they can have a good rest” the kakushi nervously responded “yea a. Nice. Good. Rest… Well then let’s go!” He said following the kakushi while holding your cold warm hand. “Poor Mr.Rengoku I feel bad” whispered Tanjiro to Zenitsu and Inosuke. “Let’s just hope he can get over it fast…” said Zenitsu as the three of them started to run to catch up to the kakushi and Rengoku. But yet Rengoku never got over it everyday he would go to your gravestone and said it’s time to wake up now until he was on his last breath.
In the future Rengoku was in the student council office and look through the student council applications and saw a familiar face. Your face. His Love is back for him! They want to join student council so they can have his attention! To have his love again. As he smiled he thought about you and how he is going to take you back to the house so you can live they forever because you love him right you won’t leave him alone again just stay awake there is no need for sleeping then you are with him.
Tengen Uzui
Why did you get in the way. He would rather lose a arm then you, they won but was it really worth it if he can’t see you again. He felt nothing you would think he would be sad, angry, or at least upset but it’s none of those or he was can’t understand what he’s feeling. He can’t even look at you because he knows he could have done better then this. Maybe If he was as strong as Rengoku he could have saved you but no he’s weak. That huge gash on your back could have been his arm. You didn’t NEED to take the hit. Im Tengen Uzui I can take any hit but you… you can’t. So why did you do it. “Your wives needs you, I NEED you,… so why did you have to do it.” As the kakushi got there Tengen just stared at your body and all the things he could have done to save you. Guilt was eating him up. “Mr. Tengen are you okay-“Yeah… please, just take them…” after that day he doesn’t feel like himself anymore. He’s just a shell that’s is slowly cracking until it breaks and that’s exactly what happened, unlocked away slow cracking until he was broken.
In the future Tengen continues to paint this one person that he can’t get out of his head. It’s like the person is haunting him. He slowly redefines the face then someone barges in the room making him mess up. “HEY! You there you mess up my…painting. “ He know that face. That face… it’s the face that haunts him. “Oh sorry I’m friend was chasing me.. I will leave now-“WAIT I mean wait I have a question for you if I may ask” he interrupted, “Oh yea go ahead!” “Can you be my model for my art pieces!” He need you to say yes, cause one he can paint you for eternity, forever and never forget your face ever again and two you will be with him for eternity. There’s no backing down in this one. You won’t be at risk anymore. You’ll be safe with him of course just stay with him and you’ll be happy.
TO BE CONTINUED?

Giyu Tomioka BJ Headcanons (18+)
Tumblr media
Anon: Hi! It says your requests are open and that you are ok with nsfw requests (: can you write headcanons for Tomioka receiving his first ever blowjob from his s/o? thank you!
This has been sitting in my inbox for a while bc I have not been motivated 💀 But anyways! Please enjoy 🙏
Reader is gender neutral and is referred to as you/your.
💙 It’ll take a bit of convincing. It’s not like Giyu is against getting a blowjob. He simply doesn’t believe he deserves it.
💙 Giyu prioritizes your pleasure over his own. He’d feel pretty guilty about the fact that he’s the one receiving pleasure — he thinks you deserve it more than he does.
💙 In all honesty, I can’t imagine Giyu with body hair. He seems like he would be clean shaven. However! That doesn’t mean he doesn’t like hair on other people. He prefers to be hairless himself.
💙 Anyway — his hands would be gripping the sheets tightly. I doubt he has much sexual experience. You would absolutely get Giyu to whimper.
💙 However, he would be very quiet — or try to be. His moans would sound so soft and strained, obviously trying to avoid getting noisy. But Giyu’s probably sensitive, so it might not take long for you to hear him saying your name in a whiny and breathy tone.
💙 His fingers tangle themselves in your hair. Giyu’s body wants to push your head down — push his cock down your throat. But he doesn’t want to control your movements, nor does he want to catch you off guard and make you choke.
💙 Giyu would probably want to 69 if you plan on sucking him off. He just wants to return the favor. He wants you to cum at least one.. or several times.

Through the Glass (Giyuu Tomioka x GN!Reader)
Prompt: “Rengoku's such an inspiration to me (we stan a king, tbh) and Giyuu is so criminally underrated (the dancing one was so cute) and I'm always happy to see more of them. Could I request a food date with Kyoujurou or an aquarium date with Giyuu? Either format would be welcome, thanks!”
Summary: A work event-turned impromptu outing leaves you alone at an aquarium with Tomioka Giyuu, the notorious hard-ass of Kimetsu Academy who has a soft spot for you that even he has yet to discover. As these feelings rise to the surface, he is left to wonder: will he sink or swim?
Word Count: 10.1K
Warnings: brief mentions of insecurities, generally awkward interactions, slight miscommunication/lack of communication, children, sharks
note: pretend like i didn’t just disappear for two years before coming in and dropping the longest one-shot i’ve ever written. kind of tried a different format with these! a mix between headcanons and a fic, really. let me know what you think!
being a fellow teacher at Kimetsu Academy, you’ve known Giyuu for a couple years now
you started teaching a little after he did, and while you operated in different departments and different parts of the school, you’ve still gotten to know him gradually through schoolwide functions, staff meetings and disciplinary proceedings
you had always considered Giyuu to be incredibly methodical, meticulous and strict – in all honesty, he’s kind of a hard-ass, but at least he’s a well-intentioned hard-ass
on the surface, he’s always on time, stringent with deadlines, and someone who, for the most part, plays by the rules
and as fate would have it, his eye for detail and deadlines put him in charge of tracking staff assignments
so you have been unlucky enough to find yourself on the wrong side of a pointed stare as you entered a room only seconds before a meeting began, and had the pleasure of being confronted by a barrage of minor corrections to paperwork
these conversations are usually short and pretty awkward, him pointing out your shortcomings with red ink and sticky notes, but he’s never mean-spirited. just uncomfortably cold
to be entirely honest, you were convinced he didn’t care much for you – you caused lots of small problems here and there, and surely inconvenienced him more times than you can count
but still, you always greet him in the mornings and as you pass him in the hallway, and you generally try to strike up a casual one-sided conversation as you wait for meetings to start (assuming you arrive with time to spare) or after you finish correcting whatever embarrassing mistake you made
you respect that he’s only doing his job, and while his seemingly calloused demeanor does him no favors, you don’t think he has bad intentions
he’s simply doing his job a little too well, while you’re doing yours… kind of not as well
so needless to say, this is definitely your first date!! but not intentionally
initially it was supposed to be a work outing amongst a few of the staff members of Kimetsu Academy to try and Build Character and whatnot
but literally only you and giyuu showed up
you were awkwardly waiting for the others inside the aquarium on a bench together for twenty minutes
he seemed indifferent, but judging by the increasing frequency of checking his watch, you could tell Giyuu was growing restless
you tried to distract from the silence with questions
to which he responded politely but curtly (as expected)
“Have you ever been to an aquarium?” you ask Giyuu, waiting for a lull in passers-by so you wouldn’t have to shout. His head turns slightly to you, meeting your eyes for just a moment before pointing his gaze elsewhere.
“Once,” he states matter-of-factly. “When I was younger.”
You nod kind of exaggeratedly in response, murmuring “nice, nice” aimlessly with a smile. Your eyes flicker between him and the families passing by, keeping an eye out for anyone you work with.
“Did you have any favorite exhibits when you went?” you ask again after a beat of silence, trying to ignore the palpable awkwardness of the situation.
He thought for a moment, indicated by just the smallest shift in his expression.
“Not that I can remember,” he answers honestly, suddenly studying the pavement beneath his shoes. Perhaps brevity is a practiced talent. His eyes eventually shift back to his watch.
You nod again with a small “hm” of understanding, adjusting the bag in your lap a bit. He quietly unfolds a map of the aquarium beside you – where did he get that? – and starts scanning the layout. It grows quiet again, and this time you can’t help but check the time for yourself on your phone. The rest of your group is about 20 minutes late, by this point.
“I guess it’s taking everyone a while to get here,” you comment, unlocking your phone. “I’ll go ahead and text Rengoku-san to check in.”
Giyuu gives a small nod in response, and you set to typing your message. After giving it a once-over, you press send and await a response.
“Okay, done,” you say with a smile, locking your phone again. Giyuu doesn’t respond, his eyes still roaming around the unfamiliar map terrain.
Silence settles in again, and you’re left twiddling your thumbs, looking mindlessly at the rock walls surrounding you. You nearly fall into a trance as you study the winding cracks in the architecture, the sound of Giyuu’s voice startling you.
“--t about you?” he seemed to ask, eyes falling on your figure for the first time in a while. You grow warm at the sudden attention, embarrassed for zoning out.
“Hm?” you inquire as you meet his eyes, hoping he’ll repeat whatever it was. His eyes look to the wall behind you for a second before meeting yours again.
“An... aquarium,” he repeats. “Have you been to one?”
“Oh!” you laugh quietly in relief. “Yeah, I went a couple times when I was kid. With school and family, I think.”
He nods much like you did before, only much less noticeably, offering a “mm” in response. After an uncomfortably long silence, he offers up your own question to you again.
“Any… favorite exhibits?” he asked. Out of your peripheral, you could see one of his hands fiddling with his jacket cuff. He was wearing a black variation of his usual blue tracksuit.
You thought for a moment, tilting your head to one side and then the other as you considered the question.
“Actually, I really liked seeing the dolphins!” you chuckle, remembering how you’d begged your parents to watch their hourly show. “But I’m not sure if that really even counts.”
Another polite nod was interrupted by buzzing from the phone in your hand. Turning the screen over, you see an incoming call from Rengoku Kyoujurou.
“Ah, sorry, it’s Rengoku-san,” you explain briefly before answering the call and pressing it firmly to your ear.
big mistake holding the phone so close
cue: wincing and pulling the phone away immediately because of how unintentionally loud kyoujurou is
after explaining that you and giyuu were already inside the aquarium waiting, you were kindly informed by your coworker that the outing had been moved to next weekend (something that was conveniently not mentioned to Giyuu or yourself)
he apologizes for the hiccup in communication and says he’ll get the tickets comped for you, which is nice, but you already came the whole way here
and now you’re caught thinking about just how weird it was to have this little outing planned in the first place. what were you supposed to do, bond with your coworkers over fish or something? anyway
a little annoyed but accepting that it was just a misunderstanding, you thank him and hang up
after you tell giyuu the event was moved he just sighs and looks at his watch again, kind of unsure what to do because bro really planned his entire week around this one event he doesn’t get out much okay
Another awkward silence settles over the two of you as you try to find something to say.
“So… what do you want to do?” you ask tentatively. Your question is met with one of his own.
“What do you mean?”
This time it’s your turn to anxiously fiddle with the sleeve of your shirt, searching for the least weird way to ask this.
“Well, do you still want to look around?” you reason innocently. “I know the outing was moved, but we already have the tickets and all…”
You’re met with silence and a slightly wide-eyed stare, which sends you into a panic.
“If not, t-that’s okay! I mean, I’m sure you have better things to do on a Saturday,” you rush to clarify, not wanting to accidentally guilt him into spending any more time with you than necessary. “Or if you just want to look around by yourself, that’s okay too, I just–”
“That’s fine,” he states plainly, cutting your nervous tangent short.
“I– Huh?”
A beat of silence passes at his unexpected answer.
“I said that would be fine,” he clarifies a little louder, perhaps thinking he was too quiet the first time. His expression returns to its usual withdrawn state, punctuating his sentence with a distinct lack of enthusiasm, but you don’t mind.
It still takes a moment to sink in that he actually said yes, but once it does, you’re almost embarrassed by how excited you suddenly feel. You haven’t been to an aquarium in ages.
“Really?” you ask, anticipation as toned-down as you can muster. Wouldn’t want to seem too eager for an impromptu aquarium adventure with your emotionally-distant coworker, right? “Are you sure?”
He offers a simple nod in return with a “mhm” to re-confirm his answer. You unconsciously flash him a wide smile.
“O-okay! Cool! Let me just, uh,” you throw your bag over your shoulder, fumbling to situate yourself as you stand. You exhale in preparation. “Okay. Where should we go first?”
and so begins the aquarium trek!!
now giyuu is the type to go with the flow on just about anything in these kinds of situations
he doesn’t really have any particular desire to see a certain exhibit or anything, he’s for real just along for the ride
so it IS going to feel like you’re just dragging him around sometimes, and you probably are, but he doesn’t mind. he kind of prefers it, actually?
ironically, it’s generally his complacency that earns him a bad rap with the other teachers for his withdrawn demeanor and reluctance to jump in on group activities
while he is resistant to the idea he is widely unliked, he can still tell there is a tangible divide between himself and some of his coworkers
generally he’s reclusive. he doesn’t go out drinking with the other teachers or partake in small talk, opting to either listen in silence or leave. whether or not this is a conscious decision to exclude himself is unclear
which is why it was surprising he agreed to not only come to an aquarium on a work outing in the first place, but stay with you to explore following its rescheduling
he’s been called lots of not-very-nice things, most equating to the idea of him being snobbish or a wet blanket, and from your perspective he just seems withdrawn and kind of cold
BUT you can tell something seems… weird. you hear a decent amount of complaining from your more vocal coworkers about him and his rules, but rationally you think he wouldn’t willingly ostracize himself in his own workplace
plus not all of your coworkers dislike him! teachers like kanae and kyoujurou get along with him just fine. granted, you’ve never seen them not get along with someone, but still
and moreover, he’s not malicious – he’s harmless, even, bar the occasional dings to your self-esteem from his pointed criticisms. also the heavy-handed dress code violations he hands out, but that doesn’t really affect you. and! this outing is arguably only kind of work, so maybe he’s different! either way, you wanted to give him a chance. what’s the worst that could happen?
now, giyuu………. has a soft spot for you. but probably doesn’t even realize it. you are never harsh towards him, you never make backhanded comments or ignore his existence altogether. he likes you, even– he hasn’t put the pieces together that his feelings might be romantic in nature, but he can tell he finds a certain comfort in your interactions
whereas in your eyes all you do is cause him problems, in his eyes, you aren’t any more or less competent because you make mistakes
what matters to him is how you handle them. always with a smile and quick on the turnaround – the same could not be said for others he is responsible for correcting
you always listen to whatever he has to say (even if he has to say it twice just so you can hear it, sometimes) and you try to never make the same mistake twice
you’re kind and resilient, and most people seem to like you. your warmth draws people in like moths to a flame.
in any case, you seem like polar opposites
so when YOU were the one that proposed venturing through the aquarium together of your own free will, he was more than a bit taken aback
he’s never understood how to get close with people. he’s not good with words, and he’s not the most social. it’s something that largely escapes him, forces him to move in silence with small gestures that usually go unnoticed like turning your desk light off for you after you’ve left, or making sure the mug you use during lunch is always clean
and he does all of this without expecting anything in return, simply because the kindness in your eyes makes him feel fuzzy and the spirit with which you move through life leaves him in silent awe
so asking him to spend time with you… alone, in a public place… on the weekend… now officially outside of work hours? consider this man thrown for a loop
of course he’s nervous, but he’d regret it if he said no
so he agrees, and now he’s here with you. what is he supposed to do now?
all of this is swirling in his head as you take the lead just slightly in front of him
Your first stop isn’t really a stop– it’s a walk-through tunnel created to look like a broken ship. Several small inlets in the faux woodwork give way to panels of aquarium glass showing an artificial sea floor decorated with coral, mollusks and several varieties of small schooling fish. Children rush back and forth between the many lower-height glass panels, calling dibs on a certain fish or creating little games with their friends. Giyuu’s eyes track their movements cautiously as you both walk.
It was obvious this area was more for kids than adults, but there were enough glass panels at your height to get a good view of the action. Giyuu looks on similarly through his own window about a foot away, eyes scanning the sea floor seemingly indifferent as a stingray emerges from the sand, previously undetected.
Suddenly the many children from before swarm over to you both, faces pressed against the glass beneath you in wonder as they shout in excitement. One child even slips between the gap in Giyuu’s legs, head poking through the other side by his ankles for a better view. You notice immediately as Giyuu tenses at the obvious intrusion. His head minutely whips quickly from side to side, thinly masking a silent plea for help.
It took everything in you not to laugh as you back away from the glass and tug Giyuu by his sleeve away from his accidental captor, gently removing two little hands from his legs with an “excuse us” so he could make a break for it. The child seems unfazed as they move even closer to the stingray now skirting the glass. The second you were out of the pirate ship, you finally let your laughter free, bringing a hand up to cover your mouth as you let out little apologies between laughs.
“Sorry, I just–,” you start, letting out another giggle involuntarily. “That was sweet. Are you used to being around kids? Younger ones, I mean?”
It takes him way too long to realize you just called that interaction sweet, and it takes you way too long to realize you might have just crossed some kind of unspoken workplace boundary.
“No,” he says quietly, clearing his throat. You offer an understanding “hmm,” in response, another small laugh escaping you.
“It definitely takes a while to get used to,” you comment, taking one last deep inhale to calm yourself. “Ready to keep going?”
it took a little bit for Giyuu to regain his composure following the embarrassing incident with the child
initially he thought were laughing at him, mocking him for his poor handling of the situation
it wouldn’t be the first time he was on the receiving end of something like that
but… then you said it was sweet. ??????
now, giyuu has been called cute before. being as handsome and aloof as he is, it kind of comes with the territory. that being said, he’s never really paid these comments any mind; the people they came from would soon find him disinteresting or unpalatable, opting to move onto someone hopefully more receptive to their advances
so normally he brushes it off and moves on. but coming from YOU? someone who at least kind of knows him, someone that has seen these parts of him already?
fills him with a feeling so foreign he can’t quite name it
and your laugh… he’s never heard you laugh like that before. it felt carefree, joyous. different from the polite laugh he’s heard you offer to coworkers in passing
and it’s at this moment he realizes he wants to hear you laugh like that again (preferably not at his own expense)
unfortunately this moment of realization is over almost as quickly as it began, fading as you both enter the next exhibit: sea turtles
he watches now as your eyes switch between the handful of sea turtles swimming about in their large tank, poking themselves up at brief intervals for air around the many rock structures in the water. the light is dim in the rest of the room, lit mostly by the tank itself
you make a comment about how big the turtles seem, but all he can do is silently agree as his eyes scan around the room over the other handfuls of people vacillating between areas
he notices two children from before barreling forward after one another down the hallway, lost in an intense game of tag
Blue eyes switch between your form and the approaching children. He instinctively reaches for the whistle that usually lives around his neck only to remember it was the weekend.
“Watch out,” he says to you instead, stepping towards the glass slightly himself. When he notices you seem lost in the view, he surprises himself by placing a hand on your shoulder, gently pulling you towards him.
At his touch, you seem to startle and look at him, finally noticing the rambunctious children zipping by. Your head shifts from Giyuu to look over your other shoulder, watching as the two continue on down the walkway.
“Thank you, sorry,” you laugh out softly in embarrassment, looking back to him as his hand retreats from your shoulder, wondering Why did he do that? “Guess I should be paying more attention.”
He quietly clears his throat, putting some distance back between you as he moves to examine the map he found earlier again.
“They shouldn’t be running,” he offers in response, inner-hard-ass peeking through on cue. “Where to next?”
He glances at you briefly when you don’t respond, handing you the map so you can see what’s up ahead. You thank him, taking the map in both hands as you try to get your bearings. With a furrowed brow you try to discern your current location – this is quite literally the least intuitive map you’ve ever seen. Maybe that’s why Giyuu spent so long looking at it earlier.
Sensing your confusion, he steps closer once again, left shoulder just barely brushing against you as he points to a spot on the map with his right hand. His fingers trace over two pathways, likely your next options for exhibits.
You see his lips moving, but his words are in one ear and out the other as you try not to think about how warm his hand felt earlier, or how his face seems so close to yours as he explains. And you are definitely trying hard not to notice how full his lashes are at this distance or the way his top lip dips into just the slightest cupid's bow that you really kind of want to–
You cut the thought off immediately. Thoughts about kissing a certain gym teacher during an aquarium visit are strictly forbidden from this point forward.
As you feel your face heat at the mere implication, you’re grateful for the blue-green glow of the aquarium hopefully obscuring your over-reaction to his simple gesture.
Clearing your throat, you notice him staring expectantly at you. Were his eyes always this pretty?
“Uh, t-this one looks fine,” you stutter out, cursing at your lack of composure as you point to one of the areas you vaguely think he referenced moments ago. His expression shifts the tiniest bit as his brow pulls down, seemingly in concern.
“Are you alright?” he asks, head tilting slightly to the right as he examines you. It makes your eyes go wide, heart hammering in your chest as you take a step back, suddenly overwhelmed by the proximity. The strained “mhm!” you respond with earns a brief look of subdued suspicion before he turns to lead the way.
you’re glad he turned when he did, allowing you save even a fraction of face
it wasn’t the first time he’s been physically close to you, but it was the first time you could see his face while doing so
usually it would just be him leaning over your shoulder to explain paperwork corrections, and while you may have been slightly flustered then, you were at least turned away
but this time… this time you were looking at him and he was looking at you and the confusion of suddenly wanting to feel his lips on yours mixed with the alarm you felt overtook you
and he said something about it
you find yourself wanting to bang your head into the nearest glass surface in sheer embarrassment
but if you thought he was quiet before, the next half hour is so excruciatingly silent that you start to worry
you receive no response to your utterings of wonder as you pass by different tanks, no “hmms” or nods
though he initially took the lead from the sea turtle exhibit, you’ve somehow ended up back in front. as you both slowly follow the crowd through the next few rooms of saltwater fish exhibits, he seems more intent on putting space between the two of you
the lofty silence gives you far too much time with your own thoughts. you begin to wonder if you’ve done something wrong, worried he’s not enjoying himself (you briefly wonder what it would look like if he was enjoying himself, but find yourself drawing a blank)
it wasn’t until you got to the jellyfish exhibit later that he seems to relax again
The large, cylindrical tank emits a comforting blue glow into the dark room as the two of you approach. Jellyfish dance in the center of the room, long tentacles moving in time as they swirl. Airy, ethereal music plays quietly from the speakers overhead.
A near-inaudible “wow” escapes you, subdued as if in fear of ruining the atmosphere. Your eyes are trained on the flowing tendrils of a particularly large jellyfish, its shades of red, orange and cream floating weightlessly in the water.
Giyuu approaches the tank from beside you in silence, but unlike in the sea turtle exhibit, he looks utterly entranced by the mysterious creatures before him. Sapphire eyes follow the symphony of movement, curious. His fingers trace the glass as one moves past, just beyond reach.
You find yourself unable to look away from his child-like gaze, suddenly enamored by the uncharacteristic innocence on display. It’s when his eyes meet your own that you realize you’re staring. You offer only a small smile in return, gesturing slightly to the wooden seats behind you.
“Wanna sit?” you whisper, waiting for his small nod in response before taking a seat on the right. He sits a little after you, enough room for another person between you. Time seems to move slower here. You’re not sure how long the two of you stay like that, caught in the semi-comfortable silence.
He seems much more at ease in this moment, hands folded neatly in his lap as he marvels at the sight. The stiffness in his shoulders has faded away, the harshness of his eyes tempered. Shadows from the soft light carve out his features, highlighting the outline of his brow to the sharpness of his jaw. He almost looks like a painting.
This is kind of… nice, you think to yourself. Maybe I was worried for nothing?
Several minutes pass in relative silence, but the entrance of a small gaggle of rowdy children eventually breaks the two of you from your reprieve, attention turning in tandem to watch three pairs of light-up tennis shoes stop directly in front of you. A weary mother emerges seconds later, apologizing for the intrusion and moving the children off to another side of the tank. Alas, it seems your time here is up.
“You ready?” you ask with a smile, eyebrows raised. He offers a nod again, this time with a small “hm” (progress!), moving to follow your almost hesitant steps back into the outside world.
once your tiny bubble was popped, giyuu is sent spiraling back into the reality he finds himself in
in the sea turtle exhibit, you seemed to react badly when he got close to you. you were stuttering, backing away from him, even. he wasn’t trying to pull anything–far from it, really– but it did kind of hurt
now was this misguided? most certainly. never once did it cross his mind that your reaction may have been because you enjoyed his closeness
but that didn’t stop him from trying to give you space so you didn’t have to be near him if you didn’t want to be
however
while he’s not the most astute observer when it comes to emotions, he did vaguely pick up on some of the dejected looks you were unknowingly sending his way
and then he was even more confused because he was like?? is this not far enough??? do i have to go even farther???!? and then he’s kind of sad because he likes being near you :/
but then… he also saw saw the gentle smiles you gave him in the jellyfish exhibit, pretended not to notice your subtle glances towards him
and now, after the exhibit, you seem happier. what changed?
he’s still pretty confused but… at least you’re smiling again
the next few exhibits pass easily, him quietly agreeing with comments you make as you move forward
the flow of conversation seems to match what it was at the beginning of your visit, which is good, you think
after a brief interaction with the map again – which he just handed to you this time, not wanting to chance it – you two decided to circle back around to the other avenue you didn’t take from the turtle exhibit
a clownfish cave, stingray touch-tank (which was far too crowded and germ-ridden for either of your tastes – a fact you were briefly able to bond over) and seahorse exhibit later, the two of you are back where you ended previously outside the jellyfish
from this point it’s a one-way path through to the food court at the halfway-point in the aquarium
located between here and there, though, is a (frankly huge) walk-through aquarium tunnel
Giyuu has stopped trailing behind you at this point, more so walking beside you as you traverse the boundary between floor and glass. Your first step is cautious, almost weary that one more person in the tunnel would surely be the breaking point. But of course, the tunnel holds sturdy and you continue with slow steps into the fray of curious people.
“This is so cool,” you comment, looking to Giyuu excitedly before eyeing a large fish swimming past him. You swiftly cross behind him, taking a closer look at the sealife beyond the glass.
Small schools of fish skirt back and forth over the artificial sea floor, while larger fish varieties swim overhead, barely missing one another in their practiced movements. Crouching closer to the floor, you see a variety of starfish, coral and a pair of scuttling lobsters amid the seaweed, duking it out over something.
“Oh my gosh, they’re fighting! C’mere, they’re right here!” you say excitedly, waving Giyuu closer so he can see. He hesitantly shuffles towards the glass to your left, peering over you to view the crustaceans in question. They were indeed fighting, it seemed, as each male used its dominant  claw to smite the other. You tear your eyes away from the scene as if to make sure he’s watching, the wide smile on your face followed by a laugh.
“What do you think they’re fighting over?” you question, eyes scanning the terrain. The lobsters bobbed towards one another repeatedly, the larger of the two moving to strike shallow blows on the smaller.
“... Food?” Giyuu reasons after a few moments, uncertain if you were actually looking for an answer.
“Hmm, maybe,” you respond, nodding your head as you consider the possibility. “Who do you think’ll win?”
Your enthusiasm in eliciting responses from him is something he’s not used to–at all–but strangely enough, he doesn’t mind. The excitement in your eyes makes him nervous, though.
“... The bigger one, probably,” he answers practically, standing to his full height again.
“Mm, makes sense,” you surmise, pupils still fixated on the dueling opponents. His eyes are drawn to your expressions as you observe the two, watching as the laugh tumbles from your lips following a particularly silly looking move from the smaller lobster. He quickly averts his gaze as you stand again.
He steps back once more towards the center of the tunnel, looking overhead. A strange peace settles over him as he watches the fish swim by, the rippling water above them creating a kaleidoscope of light on the glass below. A chorus of “oohs” and “aahs” overtakes the other visitors as a shark passes over, its presence making waves among the other sealife fleeing from its path. A brief silence passes between the two of you.
“Have you ever seen ‘The Meg’?” you suddenly ask, eyes trailing after the shark. His expression switches minutely to confusion.
“No,” he responds, not sure of what you’re talking about. Evidently you take this as permission to explain.
“Well, it’s this movie about a huge prehistoric shark terrorizing people. There’s this one part where it bites a glass tunnel while a kid is inside and leaves these giant teeth marks,” you describe, gaze finally landing on him as the shark exits your view.
The look you’re met with makes you giggle, the ever-so-slight unease in his expression seeming out of place.
“Don’t worry, it’s not real,” you respond with a laugh, patting him lightly on his shoulder in reassurance. “Well, the shark was real, but that was a long time ago.”
He only looks slightly comforted at the new information as you walk ahead a bit, dodging kids and other visitors. You miss the slight widening of his eyes at your casual touch before he’s following behind you again.
you?? touched??? him?????
he tries really hard not to think about it. tries and fails
… do you not mind if he’s close to you? you also called him over just before to show him the lobsters. and you were excited
maybe not for him, but excited nonetheless
here are his thoughts on the matter: you speak to him kindly and your touch is gentle. it’s nice and makes him feel warm inside
and he decides right now that so long as he can remain close to you, he will be content
he doesn’t know what it means, but… he he thinks he likes it
so as far as you know, your time in the tunnel continues rather uneventfully and it isn’t long until you’re exiting the other side into the food court
during which, he is internally reeling but enjoying himself nonetheless
neither of which you would know by looking at him
The two of you are led to a large, oval room with high rafters and skylights. Some areas take on a more tropical theme with cartoon fish and 3D waves poking out of the walls, while others are more riparian, fake varieties of lush vegetation climbing up pillars with cartoon frogs and lizards dotting the way.
You ponder over the options for lunch in front of you, most of which have several people waiting in queues to order. A large food court sits across from the vendors filled with families, couples and school kids alike, conversations melding together to form one giant mass of voices.
“Wanna get something to eat?” you ask over the noise, looking to him for an answer.
He nods, surveying the lines for food. You agree to separate and meet back up after you’ve got your trays.
Wandering for a bit, you eventually settle on a place called “Sukiya” and order Gyudon, a fatty beef and rice dish. Simple, but filling enough, you think. You are only halfway through the aquarium, after all.
As you wait in line, you mill over the crowd once more, watching as toddlers make messes of themselves and friends laugh with one another. You find yourself eventually searching for your coworker amongst the crowd, using black clothing items to narrow down the search.
You’re about to give up when you suddenly catch sight of his raven hair. He’s scrolling through his phone while he waits in the line for a seafood place, black jacket tucked into the crook of his arm. The white shirt he’s wearing underneath reveals a closer look at his physique, the toned muscles of his arm tensing as he readjusts his posture.
Have I never seen him with his jacket off?
Thinking back through your interactions, you’re not sure you have. Maybe in the mornings occasionally, but usually you’re too busy rushing to your classroom to notice. As he shuffles ahead with the rest of the line, his side profile becomes more visible. It’s suddenly feeling a little stuffy in here. Much to your chagrin, you’re left with one very damning thought.
Has he always been this... hot?
Eyes wide and face growing warm, you don’t let your eyes linger too long on him in fear of somehow making eye contact across an entire food court. If someone could look inside your brain right now, they’d see the blaring alarms, red flashing lights and frenzied shouts of panic instructing Operation: Get The Hots For Your Coworker be terminated immediately. Luckily, you’re the only one privy to those thoughts. You inhale deeply, hoping to calm the wave of sudden anxiety in your chest.
Way to pick the worst possible time to come to this realization.
As you turn back to your own line, you realize you’re up next to pay. After inserting your card, you grab the small tray with your meal and turn back to face the crowd. Looking back to your cohort, you notice he’s still in line, nearing the front. You gather the resolve to search for a table, efforts fruitless as you wind through the seating area. Finally, you notice one table off in the back opening up.
The table-for-two makes for close quarters, but it will have to do. You set your tray down on the far side before noticing a trail of crumbs and leftover rice on the table. Taking a napkin from your tray, you unfold it and wipe what would be Giyuu’s area and seat before doing the same to your own. Crumpling the napkin up, you set it on the side of your tray before brushing your hands off. When you turn around, Giyuu is standing a few feet away with his own tray of food.
How long has he been standing there?
“H-hey!” you greet, standing to your full height as he approaches. “Uh, I’m gonna go wash my hands, I’ll be right back!”
You don’t wait for his response before b-lining it to the nearest restroom. You spend what one would call a reasonable amount of time in a stall, convincing yourself that even if he is hot, it’s fine and you shouldn’t make it weird. Really, it’s fine. Everything’s fine.
It was not fine. But you had already spent too long in the bathroom to just be washing your hands, and you were certain he was wondering where you were. A few more deep breaths later, you step out of the stall, wash your hands and make your way back to the table. His jacket is hanging from the back of his chair, once again showing off his white shirt and lower forearms.
Just act normal.
Giyuu looks up from his food as you approach, chewing and swallowing the bite in his mouth before putting a napkin to his lips. You smile and let out a “hey” again as you slide into your seat, setting your bag down to pull your chopsticks from their paper sheath. Removing the small lid from your bowl, you eagerly eye the tender beef slices still slightly steaming in place.
“Oooh, this looks good! “ you comment, whether to you or him is unclear. “What did you get?”
Perhaps your question caught him off guard as his eyes widened the smallest bit, body stilling at the sudden attention. He looks down to his food and then back up to you before responding.
“It’s, uh… daikon and salmon,” he states plainly, sitting a little straighter.
“Nice!” you reply, carefully taking your first bite into your mouth. The meat is beautifully cooked, the flavors subtle but just right. A small “mm” escapes you as you finish the bite. He takes this as his cue to go back to eating, his quiet demeanor seemingly content. After a minute or two, he takes a small break to sip from his glass.
“How is it? D’you like it?” you ask innocently, chopsticks paused as you await his response. He offers a small “mhm” in return as he puts his glass down.
“...How is yours?” he asks after a few beats of silence. You smile at him again.
“It’s really good, do you want to try it? Here–” you begin to search through your meat for the juiciest looking one, picking it up between chopsticks and moving to place it in his bowl before pausing. He grows still as he watches you. “Wait, are you allergic to anything?”
He’s back to that minutely-wide-eyed stare as he processes your question, shaking his head no after a moment.
“Okay, cool,” you say as you place the meat gently into an empty part of his bowl. You go back to eating, not wanting to put pressure on him. After he carefully maneuvers the strip into his mouth and chews, you pipe back up.
“Good?” you ask, patiently awaiting his reaction.
The dip of his head up and down while he swallows is enough to tell he enjoyed it.
“Good,” you say with a small laugh, returning to your own bowl. A minute or two later, you just barely catch him reaching across to your plate while you take a drink.
?!?!
Your eyes widen in shock and you lower your cup, setting it to the side gingerly to see what he did. Much to your surprise, on the left side of your bowl is now a piece of salmon with daikon.
How was he so fast??
And is he giving this to you?
“For me? Are you sure?” you ask, surprised and also concerned you may have guilted him into returning the gesture. He looks to you, answering with a simple nod in confirmation before finishing off the last few bites of his food.
“Ah, okay! Thank you!” you say as you pick up the bite of simmered salmon between your chopsticks. Popping it into your mouth, you’re pleasantly surprised at the quality and mix of flavors. Giyuu’s eyes are watching you expectantly as you chew, and you try desperately to control any form of heat rising to your face at the attention.
“That’s really good!” you assure him with a smile, bringing up a hand to cover your mouth as you finish swallowing. He seems to relax slightly at your response with just the smallest smile on his lips.
The smile fades as quickly as it appeared as he wipes his mouth a final time with a napkin before laying it beside his now-empty bowl. You finish the last few bites of your own food in silence before following his lead.
“Are you finished?” he asks, hands gripping the side of his tray. When you say yes, he stands, moving to stack your tray, bowl and glass with his.
“Oh, that’s okay, I can do that,” you interject, hand reaching out to take it from him.
“I’ve got it,” he responds, almost gently, as he straightens and heads to the nearest dish drop-off. Watching him go, you notice the white shirt again. Looking down, you realize he forgot his jacket on the back of the chair. You grab it along with your bag and meet him outside the seating area.
“Here,” you offer, handing it over to him as you approach. Seeming a little surprised again, he takes it from you with a small “thank you” before shrugging it back on.
Welp. There goes the gun show.
You ignore your decidedly unhelpful thoughts as you peer around the room, trying to locate the exit.
“Uh…I think it’s this way?” you ask, gesturing forward and to the left toward an arched hallway bathed in green.
And with yet another small “mhm” and a nod from him, you’re off to your next stop.
Giyuu follows dutifully behind you, his face not betraying the cacophony of confusing thoughts swimming in his head
he was definitely caught off guard when you offered him a bite of your meal, but the fact you were thinking of him did make him feel happy
he was too shy to immediately give you some of his in return, but had been saving the best bite for last anyway. and he was also happy you liked it :)
he for sure thinks he would like to go eat with you again sometime if he gets the chance. it was comfortable, and he enjoyed your reactions
Maybe you could… eat lunch together someday?
But like so many facets of his life, his self restraint is ever-present here. He will refrain from “selfishness,” cherishing the experience without asking anything more from you
A winding and counterintuitive path to building intimacy if ever there were one, but he knew no better than you the feelings threatening the rock-solid walls he’s built between himself and others
But little moments like this – eating together in the food court, walking through the exhibits, making idle conversation – they are all small glimpses into something he craves so badly but lacks the words to express
Even so, he trails behind you in quiet contentment as you navigate the Mangrove and Rainforest exhibits, pointing excitedly to the various reptiles, birds or small mammals in their enclosures
As you’re reading the species description for a particularly cute snake, he takes a look ahead to see what exhibit is up next
He scans the horrendously designed map, deciphering the key as he mindlessly follows in your footsteps toward several frog varieties
Eventually, he locates the rainforest exhibit, and looking ahead sees a rock pool with presumably more touch tanks–hard pass– and a theater
But just a step beyond that was the outdoor arena, where little cartoon dolphins and seals swam on the page
Dolphins… you liked those, right?
“(Y/N),” he calls quietly, catching your attention. You look up from the poison dart frogs with a “hm?” to see him pointing at something on the map held out to you.
“Did you want to see the water show? It should be starting soon,” he asks, finger hovering over a box reading “Stage Times.” According to the map, there was one more show today, starting in about ten minutes.
“Oh yeah! That might be fun, what do you think?” you ask nonchalantly as if you weren’t ready to break into a full sprint to make it to the arena in time.
Despite your attempt to play it cool, the sparkle in your eyes was not missed by Giyuu.
He nods once, excitement met with quiet determination. Before you know it, you’re speedwalking through the crowds of parents and children, sidestepping strollers and screaming toddlers as you make sure Giyuu is keeping up.
Before long, bright blue gates for the outdoor arena come into sight, and you let out a triumphant laugh.
“We made it!!” you say, turning too Giyuu with a wide grin. You look more excited than he’s ever seen you, and he gestures for you to move up in line as the family in front of you gains entry.
“For two?” the attendant asks, stamp at the ready. You nod eagerly, extending your arm to receive a dark blue wave on the back of your hand. Giyuu does the same, his usual deadpan stare silently watching as the dark ink stains his skin.
After gaining entry, you pass through a tall blue arch, the smell of saltwater washing over you. An expansive pool of water greets you as you walk in, spanning the edge of the outdoor arena. Looking around, you see several rows of bleachers under orange sun shades, filled to the brim with children just as excited as you.
You scope out the remaining seats, and Giyuu lets you take the lead as you choose an open spot on the second row, off to the left. You smile politely at the family behind you as you take your seats, and there’s hardly even time to settle in before the announcer comes on the loudspeaker, welcoming aquarium-goers and highlighting rules of the arena.
Soon after, a cheery voice comes over the speaker, this time from the aquarium employee running the show about 15 feet from the bleachers. She’s small in stature, dark hair pulled up in a ponytail sticking out the back of her visor.
“Hello everyone! My name is Asa, and I’ll be introducing you to some of our sea friends today!” said the speaker, her overly-excited voice rousing cheers from the children surrounding you.
You watched in glee as a line of three seals plopped up on the platform behind her, each introduced with a name and trick. You giggled along with the children as the seals waddled, barked and rolled. Eventually, the seals returned to the water, showing off swimming formations, speed and everything else such cute little creatures were capable of.
Before long, the seals had to say their goodbyes, sliding into the water with a chorus of disappointed children waving them off. But just beneath the water you could see shadows moving, your anticipation building– and just like that, it burst, with two striped dolphins leaping from beneath the still surface to say hello.
You cheered along with the children as the dolphins splashed back into the water, growing ever-closer to the bleachers with each expert movement. The dolphins swam circles around each other in the center of the arena before swimming up to the aquarium worker’s platform.
An awed smile overtook your features as the top of the dolphin’s heads popped up above the water while they were introduced, Iru and Kai. Each had two striking black lines down their sides, but Iru, the larger of the two, had a large scar over the left side of its forehead down to its beak.
“Iru here was rescued after being hurt in the wild two years ago, and she’s been with us ever since,” Asa explained, leaning down to pet her darker beak. She nudged upward toward Asa’s hand, relishing in her touch from above. “Kai was actually born at the aquarium a year and a half ago, but his baby fin here makes it hard for him to survive in the wild.”
On cue, Kai flipped to his side, showing his stunted right fin. Your heart sank a little at the thought of their pain, saddened gaze looking to Giyuu to gauge his reaction. While his attention stayed glued on the dolphins, he nodded forward to point your attention back to the front as Asa perked up and the dolphins did a spin.
“But we’re so happy to have them here with us now! Iru and Kai, why don’t you show everyone some of your favorite tricks!” Asa stood, gestures prompting each of the dolphins to swim off to the left and right for their first set of tricks.
The tricks started simple enough, leaps into the air or through hoops, but soon divers were introduced and began showing off just how much skill and intelligence Iru and Kai held.
Time passed quicker than you would have liked. The next twenty minutes of feats from the wonders of nature before you were quickly coming to a close, and you felt like it had only begun.
”Alright Iru and Kai, come on back!” Asa called, the dolphins listening in kind. The two swam right back up to the platform, ready to say their farewells.
“We had so much fun with all of you today, but Iru and Kai have to say bye now,” Asa says, sadness clearly in her voice. “Before we do that though, we have one last trick to show you!”
On cue, Iru swam off to the left by your spot in the bleachers and Kai to the right, each popping up behind the fenced area at the front. You grinned widely at the sight of Iru up close, wondering at her beauty.
“Alright, say bye-bye!” Asa shouted.
The next few moments moved in slow motion, and it was only then, as the dolphins whipped around to the side to send a tidal wave to the audience, that you noticed the glaring “SPLASH ZONE” sign plastered on the seat and wall in front of you. Maybe there was a reason these seats were empty.
Delight shifted to fear and surprise as the water grew nearer, impending doom mere milliseconds from impact. You brought your arms to haphazardly shield your face, a shout of surprise escaping you and several of the audience members near you. Just beyond the approaching curtain of water were spray fountains from the front of the arena, shooting wildly out into the audience. Giyuu’s right arm extended in front of you in a vain attempt to shield you.
But no such luck. In less than a second, you were soaked from head to toe, sputtering as the sea water assaulted your senses.
Looking to Giyuu, you saw his hair was soggy, sticking to his face on the sides as water dripped down. As stunning as he looked dripping wet, he was in shock–a look you’ve never seen on him– and all you could do was laugh at the absurdity.
Loud guffaws escaped you as you grabbed onto Giyuu’s sleeve in front of you to steady yourself, his confused eyes meeting your joyous ones. You stayed like that for a few moments, wiping tears of laughter from your eyes as Asa bid her goodbyes to the crowd.
Your grip on his jacket loosened, replaced with two quick pats.
“Oh man, that was good,” you relent breathlessly, still giggling to yourself.
“Are you alright?” he asked in that flat tone of his, but amusement lie somewhere in his eyes. You laughed again, reassuring him as he slowly pulled his arm back to himself.
“Yeah! Just a little wet,” you snicker, wiping some of the excess water from your face. “What about you?”
He nods, mirroring your actions and sliding a few fingers through his bangs to get the wet strands out of his face. Had you been a lesser man, you would have died on the spot.
Instead you clear your throat, averting your eyes as he stands, flicking water from his jacket before handing it to you. Pointedly ignoring the taper of his waist beneath his black joggers, you reach tentatively to take it, confusion etched on your features.
“Oh, do you need me to hold it?” you ask, grasping the fabric between your fingers.
“No, you should…” He averts his eyes from you, the smallest of rosy hues appearing on his cheeks as he clears his throat. “Cover up with this.”
You look down and have the startling realization that the thin fabric of your light-colored shirt has soaked through as well, showing off everything underneath.
You could die right now. Really, you could. But instead you choose to quietly mutter an expletive, thank Giyuu for his jacket and slip it on, zipping up the front.
Dignity slightly restored but pride absolutely shattered, you turn to him.
“So, um… gift shop?” you ask, still buried beneath approximately 15 levels of shame and embarrassment. He nods, gesturing for you to lead the way, and you take the five minute walk to regain any remaining composure you can.
the next several minutes are spent in an extremely awkward silence as you look throughout the various trinkets, t-shirts and keychains
though the air inside is a bit chilly, you’re thankfully kept pretty warm by giyuu’s jacket
speaking of which, he can hardly look at you right now because of a) what happened earlier and b) the sight of you in his jacket. So he is just… trailing behind you as you shop
you excuse yourself to the restroom for a chance to get a good look at yourself, but on the way in, spot a screen with several photos on display
amid a variety of blue and orange displays are photos from the outdoor arena, capturing in full color the delight of children and parents alike
and off to the far right was a photo of you and giyuu a half second before the water hit, a sharp look of panic across his face as his arm was shooting out in front of you. next to him, you look as if you’ve seen a ghost, arms halfway shielding your face in preparation
as the photos scroll through, though, there is a second taken just a few seconds later
it’s perfect, you think
Giyuu is idly standing near the front of the store, having had more than enough time to look around in your absence. As you approach him, he notices you have on a new baby-blue crew neck shirt you picked up from the store, your previous one from before shoved haphazardly in the giftshop bag.
“Hey! Sorry for the wait,” you greet, looking far more refreshed after your visit to the restroom. “Ready to head out?”
He nods simply, choosing to walk alongside you toward the exit. Groups of parents and children move en masse toward the turnstiles, forming lines at the front. You both wait patiently in a surprisingly comfortable silence, the excitement of the day finally wearing on you.
After making it past the entry barriers and onto the sidewalk near the road, he realizes this is where you part ways. You pause in your stride, turning to him.
“Here’s your jacket back, sorry about that,” you say, extending it toward him. He takes it from you gently, tucking it over his arm.
“You have nothing to apologize for,” he states matter-of-factly, but there is a certain gentleness to his tone this time, a quietness in his voice.
A silence settles between the two of you as he contemplates how to say goodbye.
“By the way, I um…” you fumble your words as you reach into your bag, extending two small trinkets on your palm toward him. “Do you want one of these? They were making them inside.”
His brow furrows just slightly as he angles his head to look at the objects in your hand. On the right is a small photo of the two of you during the outdoor arena show, taken just after the water had splashed into the crowd. Your face is alight with laughter, and to your side, Giyuu dons a look he doesn’t quite recognize on himself. Something soft, almost, as he sees the pure joy radiating off of you, your hand clinging to his arm as delight and surprise overtake you.
Attached to the light blue frame is what appears to be a small plastic figure of Iru, the dolphin from the show. The larger and older of the two, if he remembers right. On the other keychain is the same photo framed in darker blue with a small figure of Kai, the other striped dolphin.
Did you… pick these out?
He stays quiet as he observes the small trinkets in your palm. As is so often the case, you mistake his silence for rejection, quick to backtrack.
“It’s okay if you don’t want it! I just thought they were fun,” you are quick to explain, still unsure of his reaction.
Eventually, he reaches forward, gingerly picking up the darker blue one with the Kai charm. The brief graze of his fingers on your palm sends a shiver through you as he looks thoughtfully at the keychain.
“Thank you. It’s… nice,” he says after a pause, pocketing the item in his black track pants.
“It’s no problem,” you reassure. “Thanks for, uh, hanging out today. I had a great time, all… mishaps considered.”
You huff a laugh at your own expense, knowing so badly what you want to say next but still building up the courage.
“I appreciate the invi–” “Anyway, let me know if you–”
You both pause mid-sentence, looking at each other in embarrassment at the misstep.
“You go ahead,” you say, gesturing to him.
“No, you,” he insists, shaking his head.
“Well, um, I was just going to say let me know if you want to do this again sometime or something.”
“Won’t we be coming back here with the other teachers?” he asks, clearly missing the point.
“Well, uh, I mean… it doesn’t have to be the aquarium,” you laugh nervously out of reflex, suddenly wishing you could crawl into a hole forever. “But anyway, yeah. No pressure, I just had fun and wouldn’t mind… Um. Yeah.”
Your hands gesture in the air aimlessly as you flounder. You have to pat yourself on the back for putting together probably the least helpful response known to man. Really, good work. Absolutely indecipherable.
In your sudden embarrassment, you don’t realize as Giyuu’s eyes widen just a fraction, taking in your words.
“I… enjoyed today,” he offers after a brief and unbearably awkward silence, sounding as if he’s still processing the day himself. “We can do it again. If you want.”
You feel your heartbeat quicken at his choppy sentiment, heart thrumming happily in your chest. The grin you send him leaves him in a similar state.
His fingers trace over the smooth plastic of the frame in his pocket as you say your goodbyes, his steps unusually slow as he watches you disappear around a corner to the nearest subway station.
Once you’re out of sight, he fishes the keychain from his pocket, swiftly affixing it to the rest of his keys before setting off on his own way home with your kind words echoing in his head. The sunset hues peeking through his bedroom window seem strangely more picturesque as he settles on the edge of his bed after returning home, thumb brushing carefully over the plastic frame of the keychain.
Much of his life has been spent watching others through the hardy walls of his own glass enclosure, witnessing as they navigate life and love and everything else. And as hard as he has tried, slamming fists and feet against the barrier, the walls have yet to give, leaving him hopeless in his efforts to reach and be reached.
But this difference between himself and others is not something he has yet come to terms with. Denial is a far easier pill to swallow. Even so, you make him feel as if the ocean between himself and others is not quite so vast–like the glass isn’t quite as thick as he was led to believe.
Today was his first spark of hope in a long time that maybe there is more to life than his own self-imposed solitude.
That is not to say he understands, and he will not for many months to come, exactly why you inspire such feelings of hope and longing within him–but it is not unwelcome. Not by a longshot.
a/n: hi!! this is so long. and i have no excuse for why i haven’t posted on this blog in ages. but i hope you like it!! it’s been in my drafts for so long mostly done and i finally got the urge to finish it

𝓗𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓸 𝓶𝓲𝓷𝓷𝓪-𝓼𝓪𝓷~
I don't think I should talk too much in this one-shot.
I'll just write it.
Little context: Saying to someone, "the sunset is beautiful isn't it" is a beautiful way to express your intense affection for them while recognising the hard part of letting them go. It's quite the opposite of “the moon is beautiful, isn't it?”.

"Y/N, have you ever wished that you could just live a normal life?"
"What do you mean?"
"Would you try to change anything if you could undo things?"
"I don't understand, Giyu. What are you trying to say?"
Pouting, I looked at Giyu and saw the somberness in his blue eyes. He was staring at the twilight, and I couldn't help but feel my heartbeat race.
Giyu looks so wonderful right now. He always does.
I never thought I would find myself in this state, a year after we became best friends. I never expected that the day when I'd fall for him would come. And yes, I know that I shouldn't feel this way, but it seems inevitable, isn't it?
I could say that everything that happened was unexpected, but it's one of the best surprises that happened to me.
Tomioka turned to look at me. There, I saw how the sun rays made him look almost ethereal and surreal at the same time. The way the beams of the sun caressed his seemingly pale skin and ravenette locks woke up the butterflies in my stomach. His deep blue orbs added fuel to the fire that caused my knees to feel weak.
Behind that somberness, a glint of wonder shone. And that brought back all the memories.
I didn't fall for him just because of his looks. I fell for Giyu because of who he is and all the things he has done for me.
This man had done so much for me in a short span of time. He knows I don't trust people that easily, and yet he has proven to me that not all are as bad as what I've portrayed them to be.
Tomioka's not the most sociable person, but when it comes to me, it seems like a new persona will suddenly show up. I could tell that he did all that he could to gain my trust.
The support that he had given me on every occasion, big or small, could be proof of everything. Our daily midnight calls and undying conversations about everything under the sun can also explain it.
He's even undergoing a rigorous training for quite a while, but yes, he makes time for me. Even the extent to which he's willing to sacrifice just to see me for six hours once or twice a month will be a testament to how dedicated this man is towards me.
Giyu's efforts didn't just gain my trust. He also unconsciously made me fall in love with him.
There are times where his notions make me think, what if he does all of this because he likes me back?
I'm his go-to person for everything. I even saw his craziest side, which seemed to hide away from the world. Giyu had unravelled himself on me slowly but surely. I am sure that every special thing that he does is just for me. Just for me.
He'd said it not once, but maybe three times. He's told me that he never usually does these things with other people. And yes, that made me quite happy and content. But again...
Why is Giyu doing this for me?
We could be friends for all eternity, but perhaps I wouldn't still be able to find the courage to ask him that.
I can't.
I just can't risk this wonderful friendship because of my curiosity.
I know I deserved to know, but do I really want to know that truth if the consequence of that would be losing him forever?
I've been asking myself another question too for so long. What if I am just delusional? What if all I am doing right now is just romanticising things that he does because I love him? What if everything is just in my head?
But why are you looking at me this way, Giyu? Why are you speaking to me so kindly that it melts me to the core? Why do you share lots of things with me? You used to use songs to tell me what you felt, until all my songs were also yours.
Why do you smile at me that way? Why do you choose to make all those sacrifices for me over anyone else?
Why is it me, Giyu?
These gentle caresses, the way you play with my hair, your embrace, and the way you hold my hand every time you have the chance to do so...
These actions are all the opposite of your aversion to physical interaction. I would never have thought I'd ever have had these experiences with you the first time I met you.
You're so gloomy.
You seem colder than the ice itself.
Then why are you radiating so much heat that it burns me?
Why me? Why is it me, Giyu?
"I'm just thinking, how would it feel if I decided to choose another path before? Like, how would it feel to have the perfect life?"
"What is the perfect life for you, though?"
"Hmm, perhaps it's like how I imagined it to be before. Having the perfect career, marrying at 25, and having my very own wonderful kids."
I wasn't able to give a retort to what you had just said. Giyu... Haven't you told me before that you didn't dream of marrying? Haven't you told me that you had never fallen in love once in your life?
Then, why are you asking me this now?
Why is it the opposite of what you told me before, again?
"Oh..."
"I mean. I just wonder how it would feel to have my own perfect family. I guess that would feel great."
"Yeah. What if you had all of those?"
"I don't know. Haven't you also asked yourself those questions?"
"I have lots of what-ifs, Giyu."
And one of those what-ifs is: what if you're now thinking this way because you want to make it happen with me?
But, of course, that would never happen. You don't like me that way, right? I'm just a friend.
It seems like no matter how I wish or manifest things to happen, you won't really fall for me, Giyu.
"Like what?"
What if you just loved me back? Why don't you just fall in love with me as easily as I fell in love with you? As far as I know, I did everything to try to show you my feelings. But it seems like it is not enough.
I'm not enough, and I'll never be enough.
"What if I'll never find love? You know me, Giyu. Behind all this shitty, tough facade, I'm a fucking hopeless romantic."
Giyu didn't answer me. Instead, he just looked back at the sunset and heaved a sigh.
"Then I guess we'll grow old together."
"Grow old together?"
He appears to be flushed by my reaction. His answer eventually shut down my hopes, which came like a flash flood.
"Just kidding. Y/N. You know what? You're still young, and I don't want you to be as miserable as me. Find love, then. Or let yourself fall in love? Whatever. The thing is, don't be too hard on yourself. Don't exhaust your heart on something that isn't worth it. You know?"
His monologue came to me like a slap in the face.
Don't exhaust your heart on something that isn't worth it.
"But how do I know if someone or something is worth it, Giyu? How do I know when to let go?"
Slowly, Giyu looked into my eyes. He seemed lost. In times like this, I wanted to be his compass. I wanted to be the answer, or at least, the light that'd guide him towards the answer. But it seems like now isn't that day, as he placed a hand over my shoulder and spoke up.
"I wish I could tell you, Y/N. But I think I won't be able to answer that. My heart is just too tired for love. I don't think I'll ever fall in love with anyone, Y/N."
He won't ever know how his words completely devastated me. How it confused me to the core.
All I want to do now is disappear.
I still wanted to ask him back. Why does he do these things for me? What's this effort all about, then?
Because if you wanted to just heal me, Giyu, you did more than that. You have been the only good thing in my life. You have been the peace that I am looking for whenever I need it. You made me think that the world is beautiful once again.
I think a tear had escaped from my eyes, as the next thing I felt was Giyu's thumb caressing my cheek. "Why are you crying? Are you okay? Did I say something wrong?" He looked concerned, and that shattered me.
I wanted to scream at him to stop with his kindness and sweet gestures, as it confuses me a lot.
But I didn't.
Instead, I buried my face in his chest and spoke up between my sobs. "I think I know the answer, Giyu."
"What are you talking about?"
I didn't answer, so Giyu pulled out and wiped my face with his hankerchief. "Hey, stop crying. I'm worried about you. Did I say anything bad?"
No, you just made me realise that I should have stopped a long time ago. I should let you go.
"No... I mean, perhaps it's just my hormones. I'm sorry."
"Okay. But you sure—"
"Yes. Giyu."
He looked at me, still having that sombre expression, so then... I gulped and looked at the sunset that he had been adoring for quite a while.
I took in the remnants of today's daylight and pointed out the horizon. I know you're used to me telling you how the moon is lovely, but perhaps that won't happen again.
"Giyu, look. The sunset is beautiful, isn't it?"

(Part 1) -no beta we die like men-
The clock ticked idly by as the hallways filled with students. After a long hard morning of studying, they gleefully enjoyed their lunch oblivious to the storm brewing in the faculty office.
The tension already hung heavy in the air but was accented by Shinazugawa entering, the last of the faculty to do so. Only the clock could be heard.
Tick
Tick
Tick
Uzui let out an exasperated shout, “Is no one going to address the elephant in the room?! Since when are you married?!”
Giyuu fought the urge to sigh with everyone’s eyes on him, “Four years my spouse and I have been together.”
“And you told no one?” Obanai questioned
“No, Kanaroji and Rengoku both knew.” Giyuu replied
“Yes and I’m very sorry for not coming to the wedding Tomioka!” Rengoku stated.
“Oh that’s another thing! You had a wedding and invited none of us!” Uzui shouted, waving his arms to accent his point.
“(Y/N) and I both wanted a small ceremony, limited guest.” His short and simple answers started to annoy the ever-annoyed Sanemi. He nearly slammed his drink down on the counter.
“(Y/N)? (L/N) (Y/N)!?” Uzui stated in disbelief.
“Now I know you're lying. I can believe someone married you, but (L/N)? You two barely spoke back in high school.” Sanemi sneered.
“I was always busy with my student council duties so we rarely saw each other outside the weekends. We would walk home everyday.” Giyuu stated again, very matter of factly. Everyone (except Sanemi because he already hates Giyuu’s tone) was starting to notice agitation in his voice.
“Now that you mention it, (Y/N) did post some pictures with you back in college,” said Uzui. Sanemi shot, a completely unnoticed, glare towards Uzui.
“It’s true, the three of us would hang out sometimes!” Mitsuri chirped up, “Did I not tell you Obanai?”
Obanai turned his head to hide to blush, the realization dawning on him. It dawned on all of them quickly once Rengoku spoke, “I’m sorry to bring this up now but, has no one noticed that Tomioka had a picture of his wedding day on his desk.”
Gyomei let out a breath of relief, “So you have fixed the picture frame! I’m so sorry for breaking the first one.”
The irony was not lost on the remaining teachers. Sanemi mentally cursed himself for getting so caught up in something so stupid, most of all that it was pertaining to someone like Giyuu. He didn’t even care, much less know (Y/N) enough to dictate if them knowing Giyuu was so outlandish. The very thought only angered him more towards Giyuu.
With those sobering thoughts and his social meter completely depleted, Giyuu finished up lunch and quickly disposed of his trash. He hesitated at the door, “If you all want to meet them, we’ll be at the upcoming festival.”
He left the lounge only, not-completely regretting his last statement. Meanwhile, your co-workers grow increasingly concerned at your constant sneezing today.
Bonus:
For clarification-
Giyuu and (Y/N) are childhood friends.
Giyuu, (Y/N), Sanemi, Rengoku, Uzui and Obanai went to the same school.
Mitsuri transferred into their school and knew Rengoku prior.
Giyuu, (Y/N), and Mitsuri all went to the same college.
Suma was also friends with (Y/N), Uzui had just forgotten.
Gyomei accidentally broke Giyuu’s photo and besides Rengoku and Mitsuri, was the only other person to know he’s married despite the picture always being there

the first time he saw you sleepwalking he kinda freaked out
like... what's going on??? are you okay??? what should he do??
he literally just sat there and watched you because he was worried you'd fall or something
as soon as you wake up he's just standing there awkwardly
"you were walking in your sleep... are you okay?"
a long explanation later he's less concerned and mentally preparing himself for next time
if you fall asleep with his arms around you, you're not getting up, awake or asleep.
he's surprisingly cuddly and a really still sleeper
if you kick him in your sleep he won't even wake up. when he's asleep he's gone. a rock.
buuuuuut he also has a 6th sense for being able to tell when you've gotten out of bed. like within minutes he's awake.
he'll look for you to make sure you don't accidentally get hurt
and half the time he ends up carrying you back to bed because he doesn't want you to wake up
if you wake up in the middle of the night and struggle to get back to sleep he's more than willing to just chat for a while

Ì m裏 ¥ðµ - G掠 †ðmïðkå x Gñ RêåÐêr
Warnings: Angst, swearing, descriptions of gore, reader was killed during battle, Giyu finding the grieving process tough.
Requested by: No one
Synopsis: Giyu couldn’t save you in battle against an upper rank. When news breaks out about your death and your brother figure (Obanai) finds he's pissed.
Extra: This has been in my draft for fucking ages and I'm glad that I can finally get it out! I may or may not of kinda teared up while writing this too...
Tumblr media
"You could have protected them! Because of you they're dead...you could've saved them you useless bastard! I don't believe we've lost another!" Obanai yelled.
"O-Obanai, p-please," Mitsuri cried out, trying to hold back the serpent pillar, "(Y/n)'s gone...there's nothing we can do." Giyu looked at the 2 other pillars before him, his emotionless facade slowly breaking. Fresh tears started trickling down his cheeks, he felt useless, he felt like a total failure. It was true that he could of protected you, but he was stupid enough to get injured in battle and you were stubborn enough to go out on your own.
"Because of you y/n is gone! Honestly and here I thought you couldn't be any more pathetic. You're fucking useless, you always have been! For fuck sakes Giyu now the demon slayer corps is down yet another hashira and a god damn strong one at that!"
As Obanai continued to yell profanities at him, the water pillar began to zone out. He couldn't be bothered to put up with any of this, he just lost you, the pain still coursed throughout him.
"If y/n wasn't able to defeat that upper rank, even with you present then what hope is there for the rest of us," the serpent pillar muttered under his breath so no one but him could here - grief had began to strike his seemingly stone cold heart.
Regret and anguish surged throughout Giyu's entire being. He began to grow numb and accustomed to the constant yelling and berating that came from Obanai's mouth.
"Did you seriously expect me to not care?!" Giyu clenched his fist, "Of course I would! Did you not think about how much pain I'm going through currently as well? You're not the only person who misses them you bastard don't you dare think that you are for one second!" Giyu screamed.
"After what happened nothing but guilt and hatred has been eating me alive! Y/n was my world, I loved them Iguro! I vowed that I would protect them forever, especially after what happened to my family and loved ones but I failed! I failed alright?! I know I'm a useless, good for nothing bastard..."
The water pillar had fell to his knees and sobbed into his hands and all Obanai could do was stare. Mitsuri's hand had left her significant others shoulder and she walked over to Giyu, "Tomioka, please...you didn't fail them. The only way you will fail y/n is if you continue to berate and hate yourself any further, I know that they would want you to live a life that is filled with joy, ridden of fear and a one full of promise...trust me."
xxx
Later that night Giyu grew restless and images of your cold lifeless body flashed in his mind. The way your tortured screams were torn from your throat as the upper ranked demon ripped you to shreds and tasted your flesh was an unruly and terrifying sight...what made it worse was that less experienced and much younger demon slayers were present during the scene. The sounds and images were fixed into his mind, he could never possibly forgive himself for what he let that demon do to you.
Giyu rose from his futon and stepped out onto the engawa of the home that you both had shared. He sat down and looked up at the night sky with his once again teary ocean blue eyes.
He remembered with a mixture of both sadness and fondness when you both would spend your nights gazing at the constellations. You would lay your head on his lap (or vice versa) and point out every constellation that littered the sky.
"God, I'm so useless." Giyu whispered.
He sat under the night sky for a few hours reminiscing more of the joyous moments you both shared together. You brightened his life, you were always there for him when he had the darkest days and in a way you were his salvation; he never got to thank you for saving him...from danger, from his demons, even from himself!
After a while Giyu grew drowsy he wasn't too sure if it was simply because of the time he had stayed up to or because of his on going low mood, but never the less he decided to drag himself back inside and over to his bedroom where he would sleep with a tear stained pillow.
xxx
Early in the morning Giyu got dressed in his demon slayer uniform and headed out. Yet he wasn't going off on a mission - at least not just yet.
He walked for about half an hour until he came to his destination, which was your grave. You were buried among thousands of other demon slayers, but you were specifically buried next to your best friend Kyojuro Rengoku.
Giyu knelt in front of Kyojuro's and your's graves and sighed, "Why does everyone I care about always leave me?" He looked at the wording that was engraved your gravestone and ran his fingertips over it.
"Y/n it's only been a few days since that brutal event but it feels like a decade. I-It should have been me who was in your place. I w-wish there was a way t-to swap our places."
"I know that you'd want me to go on and live a happy and fulfilling life but I don't know if I can do that without you! I miss you y/n! I miss you so so very much."
The tears appeared again and Giyu harshly wiped them away with the sleeve of his haori. He then reached out into his pocket and pulled out a ring, "I didn't even get to ask you."
Once he placed the ring that he had planned to present to you and ask if you'd accept his hand in marriage on your grave, he stood up and made his way to the demon slayer corps where he would await his next battle hoping that it would be his last and he could see you again.

⤑ᴘᴀɪʀɪɴɢ: Giyuu Tomioka x GN!reader
⤑ᴡᴀʀɴɪɴɢ: mention of sex (just in the beginning), cursing, fluff
⤑ꜱᴜᴍᴍᴀʀʏ: Giyu takes care of you after you come down from your high
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Fuck- I’m close~” Giyuu moaned as he kept on pounding into you. He kept on abusing your hole making your eye roll back into your head and your fingers ache from gripping the sheet so hard. The sound of skin slapping and you guys moans filled the room making it easier for you to release. “Shit-” Giyuu groaned as he pounded in you a few more times before cum, filling you up once more.
He huffed as he laid on top of your chest. You guys stayed in this position for a while, with Giyuu still in you. “Did…did it feel good?” Giyuu asks hesitantly. He felt you cup his cheek, making him look at you. “That was amazing” You said, still coming down from your high. His cheeks flushed at your words, making him turn his head so you wouldn’t see. “You really think so?”. You chuckled as you tried to get up, wobbling as you balanced your upper body. Turning Giyuu’s face towards you, you pecked him on the lips, moaning as he pulled out. Some of his semen escaped, running down your legs. You flipped over so that you were on top of him now, laying down. He pulled you in close by your waist. “Can we stay like this for a bit?”
“Of course, whatever you want”.His hands drag on your body. Memorizing the curves of your body.Your breath stuttered every time his hands went lower. Playing with his hair, Giyuu blinked slowly at the feeling. “Trying to put me to sleep now?” You chuckle at his somewhat rough voice. “Maybe…is it working?”. He stole your hand from his hair and kissed it gently making your cheeks flush. “No…”. He rested your hand on top of his chest along with his hand. “Ready to take a shower?” You nodded, making a humming sound.
Swiftly, Tomioka got up after you moved to the side. “Do you think you could stand?” You got up, wobbled a little, then leaned on Giyuu. “Unless I crawl there… I dont think I'll be able to walk to the bathroom “ You chuckled, embarrassed. “It’s fine, i could take you there”
“Wait- Giyuu, you don’t hav-” Before you knew it you were already in his arms. You clutched onto his shoulder at the sudden movement. “You could have warned me, dummy” Giyuu held you close. “Sorry..” He said before walking towards the bathroom. He turned on the light and sat you down on the toilet seat. Then plugged up the shower and turned on the water waiting for the water to fill up. After it was at a reasonable height, Giyuu picked you up once again and set you in the bathtub and sat right behind you before taking the pipe off.
Your body leaned on his, feeling abs on your back. His hands found a way to your thighs as you moved around, trying to get in a comfortable position. The water sloshed around with every movement you made. “Careful, you might just get me hard again~” He whispered in your ear while squeezing your thighs. Your body tensed up as your cheeks flushed once more. Brushing it off, you leaned on him once more engulfing his hands in your, kissing the tips softly.︎⋆˚✿˖°

Drabble | Tomioka Giyu x Gn!Reader | Romantic Fluff
Tumblr media
The male's eyes were lidded as he lay still in their hold. He listened to their heartbeat, chest heaving up and down slowly. His arms wrapped around their waist, his thoughts nothing but static.
"Baby?" [Name] mumbled sleepily, bringing their hand up to Giyus's hair. "Why aren't you asleep?"
The male simply hummed, closing his eyes and cuddling further into the person's chest. No words were said any further, the couple just basking in each other's presence. [Names] hands running through the hashiras black hair, calming him greatly.
"Thanks....for the help...." Giyu slurred out, sleepiness overcoming his brain and body.
With a small smile, the person hummed. "Of course, My Baby. Anything for you"

Summary: just a few headcanons about how each of the Hashiras approach work place gossip, and rumors.
Tumblr media
The Water Hashira
Tumblr media
Gossip is not something that Tomioka is particularly fond of.
The swordsman views such idle chatter as a waste of time that serves no real purpose. It is a mere distraction from work tasks, drawing mizunoto astray with its every posed word, distracting kakushi’s duties, and results in oversight.
There has been a time or two in which he pretended to remain unresponsive and even more in which the cackling hens did not realize he had risen when retrieved from the battlefield, battered and bloodied, the drawing of his consciousness and the slips of whispered words in hushed giggles. Kakushis that spoke brazenly of relationship statuses, of advancing ranks by tasteless tactics, undermining abilities in favor of some grandiose promiscuous gestures that signified short skirts and revealing uniforms. Shameful accusations of limitless wealth for higher ranks squandered from the lower tiers, doubts of capabilities drawn due to age and flighty tendencies, and depictions of monsters born from scars.
No, he has lost count at the amount of times the rumors passed between kakushi despite his obvious state of awareness. Last known recorded number was 31.
This is not to say that Giyu has not attempted to lay such banters to rest. Many times he has tried, and rather than success of imparting enlightenment to the naysayers, it would appear that he merely added rapeseed oil to the fire.
Tomioka’s reassurance that Shinazugawa’s scars were merits of his bravery became morbid despite the self-assurance of his stride away, convinced his righteous lecture had landed.
It had not.
Passed from mizunoto to kakushi, and back again, it was only a matter of time before the night sky of his eyes met that lavender bathed in rage. The writhe of his scar wrinkled and furrowed as his brow, wreathed venom, and poised lethality at the claims that had met his ears.
The Water Hashira had misread the dip of the mizunotos’ chin that met their color bones, the crease between their eyebrows, and the exchange of glances. Oblivious that the state of his “scolded” subordinates had only reached the natural conclusion… the Water Hashira lived in fear of the Wind Scourge.
Kocho expressed that Tomioka deserved it—his face has such an effect on people. Pity.
Tomioka has high standards, and he holds himself in high regards. He is not the type to seek out gossip, and to an extent places himself above such drivel.
He’s lying.
Let’s be clear, Tomioka does not actively seek out gossip, and he certainly isn’t the sort to take part willy nilly. He does not crave the drama and meets a majority of the social aspects of drama with severe tension. I swear he has digestion issues.  Yet, despite his unwillingness to participate, there are moments in which he is just as a likely victim as others.
I mean, he’s always a victim of topic, but anyways…
Small tidbits here and there are likely to pique his interest, and he truthfully may not even be aware that such secondhand information is gossip. The small mention that Tanjiro has become smitten with the Butterfly Estate tsuguko will have him pondering how he may be of assistance to his subordinate. He can’t, but such endeavors come naturally to him. He is loyal, and despite his inability to properly socialize, he really does want to help.
And so,
Tomioka has entered the world of gossiping.
He is wandering amongst the mizunoto, inquiring of interests. Pocking around amongst the kakushi who often frequent the Butterfly Estate, picking up details of interest, favored snacks, and preferences. All for the sake of providing assistance to Tanjiro in a letter, he would never say this to his face.
Blissfully unaware of the inner turmoil his curiosities have elicited amongst the Demon Slayer Corps. The majority of members horrified that a superior officer has taken an interest in his clear protégé’s lover, the even fewer pleased to see a bit of warmth crack his icy surface—not realizing this is not the look of a man in love, but rather a proud older brother.
Sir is genuinely confused as to why the young trio of butterfly estate attendants are in tears upon the sight of him, urgently waving him away, or the horror that afflicts Aoi’s features as she demands to know if he is in fact, stupid. The rampage of flipped sterilized medical supplies, and the casualties of kakushi who found themselves in the way, as the small woman pillages all in her path.
Only Aoi can save him from being strung up by his toes and left to freeze beneath the winter moon.
Truthfully, the Water Hashira’s ability to either elicit rage amongst his peers, or go unnoticed is an ability to be reckoned with, and yet, he very rarely utilizes such underhanded tactics to his advantage. Like distracting from the allowance of a new member of the corps to keep a pet demon sister. Though if your name has been gathered into the gossip seis pool, Tomioka will do his best to clear his name. Completely unaware that he is about to make matters worse.
His stickler tendencies can often be suffocating, and when he does utilize common workplace gossip to distract from something major, the target is more than often easily distracted. For all of his open disdain for gossip, he has a fairly soft spot for his partner, and can turn a blind eye for a bit of venting.
Let me be clear, VENTING.
Bits of frustration slipped through your teeth as you racked your fingertips through your nails, determined to find a solution, but first to sponge the memory from your thoughts. For the most part, venting leaves him… a little displaced. Does he help, or would intruding with suggestions just… make things worse? Do you wish for him to only listen, or even tune you out so that you can take a deep breath of air, and rejuvenate from the occurrence. Everything in him wants to help, but in most cases, venting is… really intended to clear the slate so that you can start a fresh. And so, he’ll bite the inside of his cheek, allow his brow to meet as the worried pause steals his breath away; the cup warm against his fingers as he prepares your own.
Just, don’t stay in this place.
Or cute, joyful gossip. Such as the gleeful way you squeal, your cup of tea warmed to your fingertips as you share soft details of him, having just returned from a mission in which you aided the Love Hashira and the Snake Hashira. Unable to contain the kick of your feet as you recant the tender scene in which Obanai offers his hand to Kanroji beneath the moonlight, holding only the softest gaze. He had absolutely no clue that the two were intertwined, or even interested in one another, but hearing your delight at their progress. the small melancholy that fits at his chest as he listens.
The Insect Hashira
Tumblr media
The dribble of fools.
Kocho isn’t dimwitted. She understands that the idle banter is a mere means of escape from the day-to-day horrors experienced by the Slayer Corps. It’s a means of normalcy passed from grocer to mother, spread throughout villages. She can remember briefly how her mother giggled at small snippets of daily life in her childhood. At the time, it was a slight annoyance. An obstacle at best, designated to bring her mother entertainment, and derive the young Kocho of running amuck. Far too much time spent at the grocer.
From her mother’s hem to the clutch of the tweezers between her fingers, the white of her knuckles revealing her impending rage. Her vein throbbed against her forehead as the pinches of her lips elicited pain at the clutch of her jaw. Kocho’s smile is deceptive to the untrained eye, a false sense of amusement at the celebratory of a mythical relationship coined by mizunotos desperately clutching at invisible fine lines.
Only Aoi can detect the flicker of her bottom eye lid in time to remove sharp objects from the medic’s reach.
Shinobu has been more than forth coming of her opinion of Tomioka in what world would she ever---- Gossip is nothing more than idle idiocy that blossoms from a lack of intellectual pursuits.
Truthfull, the Insect Hashira is far more than aware of the significant emotional impact that gossiping can project on the wellbeing of others, and is begrudgingly accepting of its existence as a means to ensure the continued care of the Demon Slayer Corps.
But she’s still bitter that anyone would dare into the relationship status between the Water Hashira and herself. The even rarer accusation that her affections has begun to cultivate fondness for Shinazugawa. The accusation alone to bare enough dishonor against her sister. Her blood boils to know these dimrods would dare to drag her family name through the mill for entertainment.
It would be more accurate to say that it is not so much that Kocho condones the utilization of rumors for socialization, but rather, she refuses to acknowledge the passage of whispers in the Butterfly Estate. Only turning her sharp gaze at those who utter her, or her sister’s name. For the most part, she allows it to pass. Refuses to muck herself with hearsay when there are far more productive duties to attend to. Those that would bear far more merit than determining Kanroji’s breast measurements. Clearly 32D.
Yet, there are rare… opportunities that present themselves from time to time.
Small little pieces of information gathered amongst the medical ward that align with observations she has accounted for in the past few weeks. Details that cannot help but become interlocked with little intentions on her part. Shinobu’s brain works fairly quickly, and she cannot help but notice the links between certain Kamado and the way his eyes float to her little sister.
Then, there are far more delicious attributes she picks up from time to time, and Twhile Shinobu is by no means once to actually share what information she has picked up along the way, that does not mean that the less intelligent specimens *cough Inosuke cough* are aware. As sharp as the grin that drips with her lethality, and knowing gaze. Heightened senses of pray all too aware that they have been caught in a predator’s clutch.
She has been known from time to time threaten to allow her tongue to slip details to Aoi that has Inosuke running for the mountains like a truffle pig after rare medicinal herbs.
Kocho is especially delighted by the state of duress upon his return. His boar mask shaking from side to side, unaware of the state of him as grass catches from cloth and fur, to the ends of his luscious hair. Clueless at the scratches that mare his flesh, or the likeliness he has obtained internal bleeding from plummeting from cliffs to return, frightened at the sight of her whispered against Aoi’s ear. The indignified squeal that erupts as steam furrows from his nostrils.
Oblivious that she had merely asked Aoi to clean the herbs he had retrieved.
His adverted eyes, and veins at his cheek as he dodges the trainee for the remainder of his stay in the medic ward as satisfying as any ginger sukodani.
The Flame Hashira
Tumblr media
His gaze was as steadfast as the blade at his hip, a symbol of duty and honor. Loyal to his master, and the calling of the code, dedication etched in blood, sweat, and sacrifice. Solemn, composed and practiced at the bend of his back, the willingness to press his forehead to the ground beneath the master’s feet. Determination to duty, called upon by the flame, and etched in smoldering temperatures the epiphany of a Pillar.
 A samurai’s honor.
One would never suspect Kyojuro of passing fancies of the flesh, of the tongue, or even the ones of entertainment.
But they would all be so, so wrong.
Let’s be clear, Rengoku is after all, a man of dedication. Of devout faith to his cause, to the slaying of demons, and stoic to his own nature. This is the same man who hindered his own auditory capabilities to ensure the completion of his liege’s command--- but this is the same man who cannot help but greet everyone that he meets.
The Flame Pillar’s generosity knows no bounds, and his smile is far more forthcoming. He is not the type to shy away from casual conversation, often delights in sharing little tidbits with grocers, and is even more pleased to savor what advice they may pass on.
Because of this, Rengoku is far more in the know than the majority of the Hashira. Unlike a few of them Tomioka and Obanaij, the kakushi who tend to his needs are far more willing to engage in conversations. All too eager to bask in the warmth of the sun, and in reality, speaking with Rengoku is akin to releaxing beneath the rays on a bed of spring grass.
Thus, when the Flame breather happens upon two kakushis busied with chores, whispering amongst themselves, the small snippet of a sorted love affair amongst Hashiras spoken far louder than intended how else would he have ever heard them. Rengoku cannot help but drop to his knees, wedged between the two of them. An eager puppy to join in the kinship of work place discussion, even doing his best to fold the laundry as he makes his inquiry. The muddled state of folded linens pressed between his calloused battle fingers, and the warm smile as he regards them.
Who can blame them for sputtering it out.
Both of which are left with a searing, overwhelming pit of regret as his fingers meet the cloth at their heads. Reassuring as his warm voice echoes across the gardens, expressing with his fullest intentions, that he will see this matter properly attended to, and thanks them for sharing with him.  Both far too guilty, knowing that the Flame Hashira has absolutely no concept of differentiating hearsay from facts.
Only furthered as they hear his external monolgued, expressed he had no clue that the little Kocho sister had an affection for the Water Hashira, he must assist him immediately. No, wait, he knows nothing of women. He must consult Uzui, and then speak with Tomioka.
They will soon learn from the head of the Rengoku caretakers that such gossip must not reach the Flame Hashira’s ears, their little flame must be protected at all cost. Though, they had suspected upon his departure they had made a very, very poor decision.
To be clear, it’s not so much that I doubt Rengoku’s intelligence and his ability to eventually determine rumors from evidence. In time like a dog with a bone, Kyojuro will have realized that he has been duped. More often than not, the hard way Kocho’s grin seems to press him in a haunting fashion.
Rather, it’s that I feel like the Flame Pillar was brought up in a fairly traditional family dynamic, and gossip is not something that would have been common place amongst his parents. More so, both of his parents appear to have rather stern dispositions when it comes to their moral compases, and I just cannot imagine them being the sort to discuss the latest topics passed along the Ubuyashiki Main House.
Because of this, I imagine that this is a fairly new skill set that he is working on.
Know that Tengen has not provided as much assistance as he should in such matter. Partner in crime, I know it.
As a man on a mission, the Flame Pillar has unintentionally allowed rumors to start as mere sparks, small kindles that would be abandoned in time, and lost to the night air, a new life. Kindled, and spread across ashes, and nurtured as the woodchips that feed the tale. Rengoku is the sort, to spread gossip in all of the best intentions.
Such as his willingness to provide assistance to the Water Hashira in his blossoming youth, to the abundance of pride he expresses in his tsuguko only providing circumstantial evidence to the manner in which Kanroji has climbed the Slayer hierarchy. Never once intending to insinuate deeper meaning than the words uttered between his grin, and the beam of his praise.
He is truly, by nature, a social firefly.
When the news of an elicit rumor passes his ears, threaded together from details from one kakushi to another, or admittedly, the shamed loyal ones within his service aware that their master is the source… there is no more a devout remorse than Kyojuro.
The heavens will know of his tarnished honors, of his remorse, and self inflicted servitude to those he has unintentionally wronged.
The Sound Hashira
Tumblr media
There are few things that entertain the former shinobi. He has lived many lives, and shed far more skins than a single man has ought to, and as such, run of the mill workplace gossip is not at the top of his concerns.
Information elicited in scandalous ways, extracted, and exploited whether the rumor bares merits, or not.
It reeks of shinobi business.
A life he has long since shed, and abandoned with little remorse to leave in his wake.
There are far more entertaining activities Uzui can pass his time with, maneuvering through the redlight district, dancing across waterfalls, encompassed in the throws of passion with his wives—there is very little that the dull conversation passed between mizunoto and kakushi can do to garnish his attention.
As such, he is very rarely entertained, let alone an active participant in gossip for the most part. It’s something he just finds bland, and boring. NOW, to be the center of the gossip shines and peaks beneath the sun. to leave a trail of rumors in your wake, and to be the topic passed amongst the subordinates.
That’s the sort of flashy business, the Sound Pillar can get into.
These little glimpse of a third person point of view are what provides him with delight. A moment beneath the sun, and small amusements. Regardless of how drastic they may be, or down right shameless, Uzui will do little more than to laugh at the concept of bloodied battles left in his wake, or to hear that he has apparently seduced a princess from her jewels. Although, the idea sounds tempting, Hina would never forgive him.
However, do not be fooled. His lack of involvement is not born of moral merit, nor is it pressed by duties or other attributes. We have seen first hand that Uzui is quite the connoisseur and far more than capable of retrieving what information suits his needs. Rather, it’s more the incentive. Other people’s lives are far more boring than his own. They are dull and lack any sort of luster, unlike the brilliance of his own existence, and as such, he is more than not—bored to tears by the concept of what is scandalous in the lives of subordinates.
A scantily clothed woman as a means to climb a hierarchy later is nothing to snub your nose at. Rather, it’s to be commended if such approaches were in Kanroji’s arsenal.
In part, it is likely his own existence that has made such rumors lack luster. His former life has given him more than enough insight into how such things can take on a life, but even more so, his intellect, it takes very little time to pick fact from fiction. Truthfully, he almost pities those who would fall for such little tidbits.
Almost.
Uzui cannot help himself when the Flame Hashira visits him in these times, engrossed in the duty to assist star crossed lovers. The sincerity, sparkliy and delighted to assist those nearest and dearest to him. Tengen cannot resist himself regardless of Mako’s warning. It is the similar delight Suma approaches him after a trip to the grocer, brimming with joy to share that the grocer has landed himself a lover. He is committed.
A willing victim of circumstance and delighted to greet an old companion. It is far too easy for the Sound God to be spirited away in such conversations. He delights in fun, and discussions over drinks, and dinner are likely to allow his tongue to slip far more than they should.
It is only when he is face to face with Kocho’s wrath, and Rnegoku’s self-castration, that Uzui is aware--- it was entirely within his capabilities to stop this.
But, that would not have been as much fun.
The Love Hashira
Tumblr media
Like her master before her, there are small tidbits that the Love Hashira cannot help become intrigued with. For one thing, little small things such as the rumors of a little boar in love with a medic is certain to send her reeling to Obanai’s side. Kicking and squealing as she does.
Her heart is a flutter, and her hopes are high, if there is anything she can do to support Inosuke, she will find a way!
These small little snippets of love in the air, and passion a foot is sure to draw her interest, and she cannot help but watch spring fever hit the mizunotos. At times, her own intentions can get the best of her, and she allows herself to read a little more into rumors than she should permit.
It’s nothing that is malicious—the Love Hashir has simply lived up to her title and seizes every opportunity she can to assist the seeds of connection amongst the intrigued.
However, she is far more emotionally aware than her teacher. Where Rengoku has the tendencies to miss over social cues, Kanroji is far more in tuned with those around her and is quick on the uptake. While her heart pounds at the opportunity to assist in love affairs—she is also aware that not everyone is ready for that step and will never push where it is not desired.
Rather, she will simply offer her love and support on the sidelines and pray to all the gods that the relationship will work out. She is rooting for them. And keeping tabs.
Aside from will they, won’t they relationships that are running amongst the Slayer Corps, Mitsuri meets the majority of rumors with ill ease.
There is obvious discomfort that spread across her face as her knuckle meets her rouge lips. Delicate eyes that are reminiscent of the first bud of spring fall to their eyelashes as she ponders the gossips amongst the halls of her estate.
Conflicted at the matter at hand. As the Hashira of the estate, she cannot simply condone the ill placement of idle chatter.
While the Insect Pillar may be able to identify the social connectivity that workplace gossip may bring, Kanroji can only see the wounds that can be afflicted on the unwilling spoken participants. Details of private’s life spread over dinner topics, passed between the rustle of sheets, or the lining of linens upon drying racks.
Delicate threads, pulled at one by one as they gently unravel. Stranded from one another, until a single thread remains untouched. Unbound.
Alone.
The Love Hashira is no stranger to the under belly of gossip. The small chatter spoken amongst housewife to mother, to housemaids, and shared with gardeners, and is painfully aware of what repercussions such implications may cause. Such as the loss of a proposal.
No, she cannot turn a blind eye to such words whispered in her presence, and Mitsuri is not the sort to join in especially if there is harm that can come of such thoughtless words.
No, she will banter back and forth with her internal monologue. Do her best to sort out emotions, from tact. Mitsuri will commit herself to the concept of strategy, depict herself with the clearest of intent, and as soon as she is confronted with the idle chatter once more.
It’s out the window.
The Love Hashira is somewhere between embarrassment, upset, and tears that follow her outburst as she begins to scold, and reprimand. All at the expense of a wounded party.
The outburst was one for the books, and Kanroji is hiding her head in shame.
She meant what she said, she does, but oh… what she had practiced versus what came out… is the difference between grace and word vomit.
She will hide for weeks to come.
The closest that the Love Pillar will ever orbit gossip, is likely to be in the form of tears as she expunges the day’s events, the horrors in which she burst out in a fur of vomit without being able to cap the explosion. Her sobs will fall between the shed of tears as she clutches your kimono. Horrified to allow you to see this part of her, but left with little choice but to pour her heart out to you.
Kanroji is likely to be a victim of a venting session from time to time, but this is as far as she will dip her toes into the rumor mill.
The Stone Hashira
Tumblr media
Gossip is not a common place amongst Himejima’s childhood. The torn of incense, the sanction of rites, candles, and the gentle guidance of man’s will. Brought up in a monastery, the Stone Pillar is without attachment to such concepts. Drawn from the necessities, and Buddha’s guidance, such behaviors are not befitting of his upbringing.
Though truthfully, such concepts had never truly drawn his attention. Even when he was a boy amongst the visitors of the temple, wishing to better themselves in their lives, and light. He had recognized the early whispers. Small slips of the wandering eyes of mothers that held their children close, pressed one side by side. Intent upon requesting talismans for their young, interest caught at his presence a ward of the temple.
A source of curiosity, rumors pressed between fingertips, and hummed at the taste of tender gossip.
Age has worn him, drawn his concepts of such social topics, and idle chatter. Strained his relationships, the soft giggles of kakushis tender and soft. A mundane life, and delicate. There are parts of him, that hears small slips of a forgotten life.
Scorn pressed at the twists of the passage between mizunoto and kakushi.
The Stone Pillar can only force a smile to his wide lips, allow the sorrow to settle to the pit of his stomach, dredge in the depths of his soul. Tug at mirrors of forgotten sentences, and hummed to his being. Inescapable, and unavoidable.
Only touched upon in moments such as these, with only the rueful smile Gyomei can press to his features as he swallows the knot that forms in his throat. There is no ill will in the hearts of those that surround him. No intentions lurking beneath the surface, and yet, there is a knowing to his being.
A deeper understanding of the threads that his environment desperately clutches. Connection to the earth, and to those around him. Desperate to sink roots into their circumstance. Warned by the concept of ties to this earthly realm. A concept often robbed amongst their average day to day, buried beneath the depths of the façade of peace.
It’s desperation to feel normal, to feel a part of the world. Touched to those around them, clutched to shreds of normalcy that is greatly underappreciated by the citizens in their care.
Himejima is wise, far more Intune with those around him, and the pull of the wind, the song of birds, and the hum of the soil beneath his zori. It is because of this, he is self-aware. Conscious that the distinct pulls of the whispers of a past best left forgotten is not what is intended to be called back. Rather, it is his own ability to self-reflect, that makes him aware that this is none other than his old wounds bearing their fangs, not the reflection of those around him.
It is with this, Himejima can only smile.
Listen to the soft voices around him. To the lives that try to I’ve amongst the peak of clouds, to dare to reach for normalcy.
But, they are never conversations that the Stone Pillar will take place in. There has been one or two old  members of the corps who have pressed such conversations, dared to engage the Hashira in conversation. Though, they never made traction.
Though there is merits for others in the social banters, to Himejima, such conversations are superficial at best, and for the axe wielder, he desires more. Soil beneath his nails, warm by sunlight, and to touch the soul of another. To hear their laughter, to know their dreams.
Just because he does not speak, does not mean that he cannot hear things.
The Mist Hashira
Tumblr media
One would think that as the youngest member of the coprs, Muichiro would be the most likely to succumb to the lure of the rumor mill. His lack of social interactions outside of his familial bonds, and emergence into the world, makes him a likely candidate, but not as likely as Rengoku.
Though his interactions are as unintentional of that of the Flame Hashira.
As a wanderer, Muichiro is flighty. Curious, and easily distracted by the winds of change. He is a drift amongst the Corp members, and often guided by his wanderlust. His presence is spotty more often than not, and while he is bound by his sense of duty, the swordsman is not prone to remaining in a conversation long enough to truly absorb the discussion.
For the most part, he doesn’t care to.
There are rare discussions that will warrant his attention, and for the most part, they are centered around those closest to him, such as Tanjiro.
The iridescent of blues that flutter and saturate into the black of night, touched upon the flutter of a butterfly’s wings that catches amongst the sunlight. Dreamy, and curious as he wanders after it. Only pulled from its lull at the mention of his comrade.
Similar to a moth to flame, the peak of his ear caught upon the familiar name, Muichiro’s attention has been pulled and tugged, snug as he draws to the end of the side. As though a siren has whispered its sweet tune, he is unable to deny its call.
He is a wrecking ball.
Forcibly interceptive between the conversation, blatant and abrasive as he announces his interception. Unpacified by the kakushi’s clear reeling. Horrified to have drawn his attention. Terrified they have been cursed by a spirit. As he roars his obscenities, called to the honor of his commrades.
Muichiro has little remorse, and gossip often brings up the worst in him.
While he often struggles with remembering certain subordinates most of them, gossipers and chatters have landed a special place on his list alongside a round of snide remarks that accompany their appearance within his sights.
The smallest slip of rumors amongst pressed lips caught by the Mist Hashira, is met with a bitter response, and has likely landed you on his bad side for years to come. Little will right this wrong.
Young, and brand new to the world, Muichiro is not the type to fold to those around him, and clings to his idealisms. Gossips are not welcome in his company, and in truth, he finds the majority of it to be a huge waste of time. He desires to connect with those around him on a deeper route, much like the Stone Hashira. Perhaps to sooth the wounds of his heart, but…. Not all gossip is bad gossip..
The open praise of growth amongst the subordinates, the pride in which some declare their pride in their comrades is likely to elicit the opposite response… Muichiro loves the opportunity to sing praises of those who have earned it. Rare, far and few between, he glows at the opportunity to glisten. He practically comes giddy and offers one of the sweetest smiles as his words flow with affection. Happy to share cute little fun facts, down to the snot bubble that the older Kamado develops when he is especially exhausted.
Growing with each word.
Tanjiro. You know I’m talking about Tanjiro.
Ironically, it is in these moments of unelicited boasting that draws the touch of placed rumors. His glowing affections, unabashedly provided to the one recruit, and Kamado alone. Muichiro has single handedly fueled the fires.
Not that he cares.
I promise Ginko has written more rumors than the entirety of the main household kakushi alone. Little prim feathers has an agenda, and it’s putting her boy at the number one. At. All. Costs.
Obanai Iguro
Tumblr media
Gossip has little concept to Iguro.
It is so low on his radar, that he cannot even constitute it as a waste of time. Truthfully, I think only small parts of it even catch his attention from time to time.
Equipped with luminescent star-crossed eyes, mixed matched eyes that contain galaxes, and depths unexplored. The cut of his eyes is sharp, and threatening, and it is without surprise that… Kaburamaru has more of an understanding of what’s going on.
I cannot make this up.
I can imagine the little moonlight touching serpent enjoying teatime with Kanroji and Rengoku, delighting in a treat or two as they catch up over their absence.  The occasional mizunoto greeting Kaburamaru, often venting completely unaware of the depths of his comprehension. Or understanding why he flares when they complain about Obanai.
That being said, the Snake Pillar is not particularly interested in the social ongoings in the Demon Slayer Corps. The congregations of bodies pressed amoangst one another, desperate to depart useless information, he can understand why it is Kaburamaru may seek out the chatter amongst the winter, but for himself, it reeks of… contact.
The close courters, the touch of elbows against one another. The eagerness of maids to press into him, to touch his hair. Whispered appreciation of it’s luster, the wander of his eyes. Shamelessly seizing the opportunity to snuggle up to him.
No, absolutely nothing they are discussing is worth that.
For the Serpent Hashira, the only time he will meet gossip is when he slips between the corridors. Praying to remain undetected across the lavish décor, pressed against furniture. Doing the best to navigate narrow spaces, as the words of slander slip from pressed lips, a mock show of dusting a vase that only further elicits the swordsman’s rage. Master Ubuyashiki deserves respect, and… did they mention Kanroji?
Let’s be clear, Iguro has protective tendencies, as any snake with a possession worth safeguarding.  Only those who have earned his recognition, his attention will warrant his protection. Regardless of where they may be, and what way the threat has been imposed. Physical, or otherwise.
Obanai has been known to snicker at the rumors that flow over Tomioka.
However, insults warded against Shinazugawa’s scars, or the question of Kanroji’s chastity are sure to illicit wrath, and none have been able to escape his punishments without scars.
I promise he has strung up a mizunoto or two for daring to insinuate that Mitsuri would dare entertain the idea of a relationship with the Kamado boy.
Obanai is intelligent, and in some aspects, he is likely to be able to seize the utilization of weaponizing information from time to time, but truthfully, he does not have the patience for such sorted behaviors.
Or rather, it’s that such topics that bristle him, such as the hinting that Kanroji has begun a relationship, or that the new recruits have witnessed Kanroji in the baths during their stay at the Swordsmith Village has him seething.
Quick tempered, and vengeful, he has not the time, nor the means to reel his emotions back long enough for a well thought out plan of revenge. His only objective is to devour everyone hole. Whether the rumors have merits, or if the target of such gossip is even aware.
The Snake Pillar has no forgiveness to offer.
Truly, the least likely to engage in gossip in my opinion. He’d really only listen to Kanroji’s vents/word vomits, or perhaps Shinazugawa imparting information from time to time.
The Wind Hashira
Tumblr media
The Wind Pillar holds himself to his duties, has subjectifies himself to the life that he lives, and relents his wellbeing for the sake of others. The moment that he realized his marechi blood spelt death for those around him, Shinazugawa released what little hold he had on a normal life.
Like threads slipped through his fingers, Sanemi did not refute their loss, and refused to morn his place amongst the common folk. Rather, he accepted his duties without complaint, assured himself that to live this life in service was to ensure that his little brother would never know the pains of the night.
With such dedication, the Wind Pillar has quickly become a pillar amongst the Slayer Corps, and though often the topic of rumors that press amongst new recruits, his scars have stories that have taken lives of their own.
Yet, rare is the time in which he will intercept such conversations. Rather, he has submitted to such claims. Allowed gossip to run amuck, dedicated himself to his training, to securing lives. What he has will be proved in battle, in servitude, and protecting those around him.
What offers them, even the briefest release from their realities, Sanemi is willing to turn a blind eye to what he may say.
Perhaps because he too, misses normalcy amongst the sun.
Yet, there are rare slips in which the rumors can guide his temper. Flare his wrath, and break his façade of silence. Such as the times in which the mizunotos whispers sympathies for that Water Hashira bastard. Warmed, honey words bewitched by his pathetic sniveling, and convinced that it was none other than the Wind Pillar who bullied sympathies from the little shit’s mouth.
The mere notion that Shinazugawa had gone out of his way to threatened, not to even see the Water Pillar was enough to elicit his rage, and often times, sent him reeling. Storming through estate after estate until he had found the swordsman. Allowing his rage to guide the interaction with little remorse or thought.
For all his moral compass, like Rengoku, there is a crack in direction.
A small swivel of the compass, distracted by an attractive magnet. A small sip of conversation, the sweet whisper of curiosities, and hummed warmth. Such as the shy mumblings of a maid amongst the Main Household.
Pressed her fingers to her cheeks as an older retainer probs for details. Shamelessly engaging the conversion in the light of day, an inquiry of attraction for a particular gun wielder amongst the units.
Oh yes, small tidbits of loved ones is sure to peek the Wind Pillar’s interest. Though negative slips will react in elicited rage, Shinazugawa is fiercely protective of those who he deems worthy, and even so of those he is less than concerned for. Unwilling to allow those in his estate to act as perpetrators of others happiness.
Sweet little slips such as these, are impossible for him to ignore.
I mean, he’ll try.  He will convince himself he is above such matters, scoff openly at the shameless topic in the daylight. Despite finding the way his ears naturally turn to hear more, chastise himself once more, before uttering bitter curses as he resigns himself to the task at hand. Information gathering.
The wind breather needs details. Needs to know more about this maid, about her inquiries, about how it is she has come to know his little brother, and what it is that has drawn her interest. Metts when she shares that it was that he helped her with her fallen zori. Someone in love with his little brother can’t be all bad right.
While I cannot say Shinazugawa will intentionally take an active place in gossiping, I can see himself involving himself more than he should. Such as in the case of his little brother’s love life.
especially when the life that he dreamed of for Genya is just within reach.
