PROMPT #800 BABY! Couldn't have gotten here without all of you, but especially my canoe crew who are my constant support and dearest friends. Love you all!

If there was once place on Earth more hated than a hospital, Julie had yet to find it. She hated the weird smell that never seemed to leave her nose until long after. She hated the cafeteria food that always seemed so bland and tasteless-even the pudding, and how did someone mess up pudding? She hated the constant noise from the machines and alerts and various people coming and going.
But most of all she hated seeing her mother in here.
Rose who was so jubilant and full of life was now a pale reflection of her former self as she willingly pumped poison into her veins to hopefully fight the cancer threatening her life. She still tried to stay happy and upbeat for her family, but the chemo was taking it's toll, and her smiles didn't reach her eyes any more.
"You don't have to come with me every time mija," Rose assured her. "And you definitely don't have to stay in here. Why not go exploring, see if there's any kids your age you can hang out with?"
Julie was reluctant to leave her mom, but her father practically pushed her out so she supposed the choice was made for her. She knew she didn't have to come, Carlos didn't, and she bet he was having a great time with tia right now. But her mom had always called her a good luck charm, so maybe, just maybe that would help?
She would rather believe that than the fact that her mother was slowly dying.
So she wandered the halls, until a kindly nurse pointed her to the children's longue, a place where both the sick kids and visitors could just relax. It was pretty empty, save a lone boy with a giant clunky cast on his leg who was playing a game, the tip of his tongue stuck out of the corner of his mouth.
"Whatcha playin'?" she asked as she took a seat next to him on the lumpy couch.
"Mario, you ever play?" he asked, voice rough and with a tiny hint of a twangy accent. Julie noticed how the fluorescent lights washed him out, but she could see a spray of freckles across his cheeks and nose, which fascinated her-she'd never seen someone with so many freckles before.
"I've played a bit with my brother, though he's way better at it than I am," she replied. "I could never get him to the top of the flagpole like you can."
"You want me to teach you?" he asked, turning to her, the full force of his green eyes hitting her, and Julie had to clench her hands by her sides so as to not play with her curls.
"Sure," she said, and the boy-Reggie-handed her the controller, explaining what to do, giving her tips and secrets on how to get a high score in the game. "How do you know so much about this?"
"I've been here a while," Reggie explained, pointing to his foot. "This is going to be my third or fourth surgery on it, and that means a lot of downtime. So I've gotten pretty good. Plus my grandparents got me a Nintendo for my Bar Mitzvah last year."
"Are there any other games here?" Julie asked, excited to see what else they could play together. She liked Reggie-there was a sadness around him, yes, but he never stopped smiling, and making her laugh with little jokes and comments as she stumbled through each level of the mushroom kingdom.
"Tons!" Reggie enthused, and went through the collection that was there. Julie didn't really want to play Duck Hunt-guns were a big nope for her, but Zelda sounded right up her alley-she loved stories about adventure and princesses.
They whiled away a good chunk of the afternoon playing games together, just chatting and laughing. Nothing too deep, but she told Reggie why she was here and he gave her a sympathetic smile, squeezing her hand. He told her he had been in a bad car accident, thus his mangled foot, but his grandparents smuggled him in good food so he didn't have to put up with the awful pudding.
"Mija?"
Julie turned and there was her papi, smiling kindly at her. "It's time to go. Your mami is tired and I think she'd much prefer to nap at home."
She nodded, but then paused. "If you're still here next week can we play more Zelda?" she asked Reggie.
"I'll be here, recovery time is long," he assured her.
"Then I'll be sure to bring you some real pudding," she promised, and Reggie laughed aloud at that.
Julie and her father left the room, but a nurse caught them down the hallway. "Were-were you just in the game room with Reggie?" she asked.
"Yes," Julie answered. "Was I not supposed to be?"
"No no, nothing like that," the nurse assured her. "But...I heard him laugh?"
"Yeah, we were joking about the pudding here," Julie said, confused.
"Sweetheart, Reggie hasn't spoken more than two words since his accident almost six months ago," the nurse said. "So if you managed to make him crawl out of his shell, well you must be some sort of angel. Do you think you would mind coming back to play with him again?"
"I'll be back next week," Julie assured her. She felt a wave of pity for Reggie-did he have no friends to come visit him? What about his family, couldn't they get him to talk? So Julie made it her mission to come as often as she could, and make Reggie laugh as often as possible.
So she did-every week she went with Rose to the hospital, and hung out with Reggie. Some weeks he was more subdued than others, whispering he was in pain, but always lit up when Julie handed him a pilfered snack from her house, often a pudding, like their little private joke.
Even after Rose entered remission, she still asked to go visit Reggie, and her parents were more than happy to let her. "You're a good friend to this boy mija," Rose told her. "I hope he gets out of there soon though."
"Me too," Julie replied.
It was only a few weeks later that fate intervened-Reggie told Julie he was finally going to be released. But unfortunately, he was going home with his grandparents, back to Georgia. "They've been away from the farm too long as it is, and there's no one else..." he trailed off.
Julie knew this of course, how he and his mom had left his abusive dad and come to LA to make a new life. How the car accident that broke Reggie's foot took his mom's life. That his grandparents had come to look after him while he recovered.
But she still cried at the thought of losing him. "We could always write?' he suggested tearily. Julie agreed, and got his address before leaving. It wouldn't be the same as spending their afternoons playing games and talking together, but it would at least be something.
~
Reggie hated the cold. Why oh why did the most prestigious game design school have to be in the North East? More so why couldn't he have been happy enough going to a school back home in Georgia, or even in LA? But of course, he knew why. He wanted to make games that would help kids just like Mario and Zelda had helped him. And to do that, he had to come to this school even though the cold made his foot ache, the ice and snow were not great for moving around in when you relied on a cane, and he missed MeeMaw and Pops so bad he could scream.
He just had to reassure himself that it would be worth it in the end, even as he hobbled through the crowds trying to get home.
"Reggie!"
He could have sworn he heard a voice calling his name-it wasn't like Reggie was all that common. But when he looked around, he couldn't see anyone he knew. But then, there it was again, a little closer.
"Reggie! Reggie Peters! Your princess is in another castle!"
Finally she came into view-Julie Molina, all grown up, but still recognizable even seven years later. They had kept in touch with letters for a bit, but then lost it after Rose's cancer came back. Reggie always felt bad about that, wishing he had tried harder for the girl who had gotten him through one of the worst parts of his adolescence.
"You got a fire flower or something for me at least?" he said with a grin and then opened his arms for a hug, holding her tight as she rushed in to accept it. Her curls were cut shorter, but still just as curly. Her smile was just as vibrant, and God Reggie had missed her. "What the heck are you doing here Molina?"
"I could ask the same of you!" she exclaimed, smacking his shoulder. "I'm here for college, studying graphic design!"
"Same, only for games!" Reggie replied. "Gosh it's good to see you again, you have time for a coffee?"
Julie bit her lip and shook her head. "Sorry, I've actually got to get to class, but give me your number, we can meet up?"
Reggie nodded and handed over his card, taking hers in turn and waving as she got on her train before hobbling off home. He sighed as he finally got to sit down, and pulled out the card that Julie gave him.
"Whatcha got there bud?" Luke asked as he slumped down on the couch next to him. "Ooh, got a number?"
"It's not like that you doof," Reggie said, shoving him away playfully. "This is from Julie, we were friends as teens, and I ran into her in the station. Apparently she's here studying graphic design."
"Oh cool," Luke said, snuggling back into Reggie's side, and by this time, Reggie had gotten used to his cuddly nature-having lived together for a few years made you used to a lot of things. "She a good artist?"
Reggie recalled the various doodles that covered his casts during his hospital stay-Julie insisting on signing it as it was blank when she met him. Even though Reggie told her he would be getting an new one after his surgery.
"Well I'll sign that one too," she had said with a grin-and she did. Reggie had honestly been a little sad to see them cut off and all Julie's artwork destroyed.
"Yeah she really is," Reggie mused.
"Well then call her!" Luke insisted. "Even if not for dates, just to reconnect. Or hell, you need a designer for your game right?"
"Well it's your game too," Reggie reasoned.
"Eh," Luke shrugged. "I wrote the story and music, but you helped with both of those, and you're doing all the programming."
"Maybe," Reggie said, looking at the card again. "Maybe."
~
It turned out that Julie was very interested in making a game with Reggie, and that summer it was a familiar sight to find her in Luke and Reggie's apartment making the art and helping Reggie play test sequences with each character.
Luke was absent, as his parents insisted he return home to his folks house but he happily let them use the apartment, and claimed he couldn't wait to see what they had gotten done when he returned-and to meeting Julie, since fate hadn't allowed that to happen thus far.
Reggie loved that summer-he and Julie renewed their friendship, they worked together constantly, and while he didn't experience any pain-that would never be a reality for him-he found it lessened due to him keeping busy. Plus Luke had made their apartment as handi capable as possible, so he barely had to use his cane.
Sure, Luke had claimed he would get lost in the clutter if they let it build up, but Reggie knew the truth. Luke was determined to look after him, and while some would resent that, Reggie loved being cared for, and appreciated how much Luke did to make his life easier. And it wasn't like Reggie didn't do anything for him-he made sure Luke went to all his classes and performances on time, as he was involved in the school's music program, and even helped the orchestra for the drama department while he got his English and Musical Composition degrees.
Reggie had even gone to every showing of the school's production of Macbeth, just because Luke was down in the pit every night, and it was his composition that they used to signify the storm-a raucous, crashing thing that made you really feel like the weather was about to change.
That was the only drawback of the summer-that Luke wasn't there. So when he returned, Reggie was almost fit to burst, pulling him in for a hug almost immediately.
"Missed you too buddy," Luke whispered into his shoulder. They broke apart then, exchanging slightly watery smiles before Luke coughed and cast his eyes over to where Julie was standing. "Hi, you must be Julie!"
"And you must be Luke," she replied, giving a little oof as he caught her in a hug. "Oh, you're a hugger."
Luke stepped back then, rubbing the back of his neck. "Yeah, sorry. It's a thing."
"It's okay," Julie assured him, "But maybe a little warning next time?" She then offered him a smile. "Now I wanna pick your brain about a few plot points of your story..."
~
By the end of the summer, they had made good progress on their game, but it was nowhere near done. "We can still work on it," Julie said, "Just not at the same rate."
Reggie sighed in defeat. He knew they weren't going to finish the game, but he had hoped they would be a bit further along. "Maybe... maybe I should take the semester off? Keep at it?"
"Reg you can't do that, your education is important!" Julie insisted.
"It's also extremely expensive, and my grandparents can only help so much," Reggie explained. "A semester off would be a big help to them, and I can always do a class or two through distance if I want."
"I would love to take the semester off too, but since my folks are paying the rent here, I need to stay in school to keep a roof over our heads," Luke lamented. "But my part of things is essentially over anyways."
"We still need to figure out a lot of the score mister," Julie answered him. "Hire musicians and the like."
"Why would we need to do that?" Luke asked. "I play guitar, Reggie plays almost everything, our friend Alex does drums, we just need a vocalist."
Julie was silent at that for a moment. "I-I could do it."
Luke grinned, and handed her the song they had written for the end credits-a lilting ballad that spoke of their main character's journey and her longing to find a place she belonged. A bit cliché, but it was leagues better than Girl In The Tower which had gotten legit radio play, so Luke figured they were good.
Only when Julie started singing, both guys were blown away. Her voice was angelic, the perfect one to elevate the song into greatness. They sat there stunned for a bit after she finished until Luke cleared his throat. "I think you've got the job Molina."
She beamed with happiness, jumping up and down and then ran off to call her dad. Luke turned to Reggie. "How come you never told me she could sing like that?"
"I didn't know!" Reggie insisted.
Later on that night after Julie had gone home, Luke looked at Reggie. "Would you be mad if I asked Julie out?"
An unpleasant feeling settled in Reggie's gut at that, which was ridiculous. Luke and Julie were his two best friends, incredibly well suited for each other, why shouldn't they be happy together? "Maybe wait until the game is done?"
"That's fair," Luke conceded. "And you're sure you don't mind?"
"Why would I mind?" Reggie asked. Luke looked at him queerly for a moment then shook it off, wishing Reggie a good night, a sentiment Reggie echoed. But he found that he couldn't sleep that night, and the feeling in his gut never did go away.
~
It took nearly a year, but they finally finished their game. One of Reggie's professors was going to help them shop it around to different publishers, but the game was done!
"This calls for a celebration!" Luke exclaimed, pulling out a bottle of champagne, pouring them all a glass. Their various friends were scattered around, all of them involved in the process in some way, and they had all ssured the trio the game was amazing.
Reggie toasted but put the glass down-he didn't drink, not after the hell his dad had put him and his mom through. He didn't think about the man often, couldn't really care less where he was. But that memory of whiskey laden breath and heavy hands would never leave him.
Plus his stomach was roiling as he watched Luke pull Julie aside, watched her light up as he spoke, and then-she pulled him in for a kiss. Not a friendly peck, but a deep, romantic kiss that made Reggie have to look away.
God, what was wrong with him? He knew it was coming, had seen the sparks fly between them. It must be the stress of the past year and the anxiety over selling the game getting to him.
"I need some air," he said to no one, as the party raged on around him. He grabbed his cane and went out to walk a little-it usually hurt to do so for too long, but it also always helped clear his head. He was sure he would be back before anyone noticed.
Only he still couldn't get the image of Luke and Julie kissing out of his head, and eventually sat down on a bench. Why did it bother him so much? He never reacted this way when he saw other couples kiss. Heck he'd seen Luke go through a bevvy of girls and guys when they first started living together... though that had started to bother him after a while. He had chalked it up to Luke being careless with his body and heart, and after he voiced his concerns, Luke seemed to have been perpetually single.
Did... did he just not want to be left alone? Was that it?
He was sure Luke and Julie would still make time for him even if they started dating. But it wouldn't be the same. No more late nights chatting until the sun came up about everything and anything. No more of Luke quoting Macbeth ad nauseum due to months of shows, with Julie and Reggie playing the other parts. No more sunrise runs for cheap fast food to keep going even though they should sleep, and then passing out in a pile on the couch.
No more waking up to Julie and Luke snuggled into his side, or making sure he had someone by his side for his appointments. No more of Julie's sunny smile meant only for him, or Luke's teasing as Reggie made eggs for them since Luke was hopeless in the kitchen. No more movie nights or trying out new games together, no more tears when the doubt set in that they were wasting their time trying to make this game.
Reggie rubbed at his chest, as if that would make the pain go away. Kept picturing Luke and Julie, and wishing he was there. Not instead of them, but with them.
"Oh fuck," he swore. "I'm in love with them."
He had to tell them-they didn't keep secrets-and even if it ruined everything, he couldn't bare them not knowing, and living a life where he was silent about his unrequited feelings.
He got up, heading back towards the apartment, going as fast as he could. Only he didn't see the curb, and slipped, feeling the pain radiating through his ankle as he fell. Or the blackness that set in as his head hit the concrete.
~
Reggie hates hospitals.
He knows he's in one before he even opens his eyes-the smell, the beeping, the feeling of various tubes in him. He blinks open his eyes and sees the same generic tiled ceiling and groans.
"Oh thank God you're awake."
Reggie turns his head, and there is Luke and Julie, looking equally worried and relieved. "Hey guys," he rasps. "How long was I out?"
"Few hours, but you still had us worried sick," Julie admonishes. "We didn't even know you'd left the party until Luke got a call from the hospital as your emergency contact!"
"Sorry, needed some air," Reggie replies, and sighs when Luke puts the straw of a juice box to his lips, allowing him to drink, "Didn't mean to slip and knock myself out."
"And bust your ankle," Luke said apologetically.
"Of course I did," Reggie moans.
The doctor has worse news for him-a bunch of pins had come loose-his foot is even more mangled. "It might be time to let it go son," he cautions.
He takes a lot of time to consider it-they always told him it was a possibility-and Reggie had held on for longer than he probably should have to the old thing. So he agrees to the procedure, even though it will mean even more time in this dreaded place.
The night before the surgery, Luke and Julie are by his side. Julie jokes that she won't have a cast to design on now, but Reggie jests she can always glam up the prosthetic he's getting. She lets out a sob at this.
"Too dark?" Reggie asks.
"No, it's just... when Luke first got that call, we were both fearing the worst," she explains. "We thought we had lost you. And we realized... we couldn't bear to lose you."
"We love you Reg," Luke piped up. "Not as a friend, but as the person... our person. The one person we want to be with."
"Me? The both of you?" Reggie squeaked.
"You," Julie said, squeezing his hand. "You make our heart containers full."
Reggie laughed uproariously at that, wiping a tear from his eye. "I love you guys too. And I will tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow."
"That's my line," Luke chuckled.
"Mine now," Reggie said, and grinned as his partners leaned in to kiss him.
~
The night of the Game Awards, Reggie wasn't nervous. Their game had done phenomenally well, and even if they didn't win, he had something better than a dumb old trophy-he had Luke and Julie on his arms. They were far better, plus it meant he could leave his cane at home-they would keep him upright.
But it was still a shock when their names were called, and Reggie beamed as they helped him up the stairs-he was still getting used to his new prosthetic, all covered in Julie's doodles and Luke's song lyrics.
He watched them both speak, thanking everyone they needed to before ceding the mic to Reggie.
"I haven't had the easiest life," he stated. "It's been one quest after another, and I've barely made it out of some of them with all my hearts intact. But I would never regret a thing in my life, since it led me to you. The both of you, and I wouldn't be standing here without your support, your talent, and your love. Thank you."
Julie and Luke leaned in, kissing his cheeks, and Reggie smiled brighter than the blinding lights as they led him off the stage, never once letting him stumble or fall. And they never would.

Hi, I found you through Eversion and I'm now loving UTB, and I read TWW in between updates and it was great too! (Was weird reading UTB and TWW simultaneously considering the opposite Ef&Gwyn dynamics but I did that to myself lol.) I have 2 random UTB questions!
1. I was surprised Polly didn't react to Gary's Big Stinky!! Can dogs not smell human pheromones at all (and e.g. learn to associate certain smells w certain states/behaviors in their owners), or is Polly just... Polly? This got me wondering about unique service dog applications in UTB-verse, like alerting to oncoming corrupted heats or rages or PACS flare-ups, or the smell of fear as a cue to do a task. (Real dogs can detect stuff like high/low blood sugar or oncoming seizures, dogs are so cool.)
2. I know you may just not know yet, but do you think Ef will ever use his safeword? I'm a huge sucker for the moment when a character safewords and their partner respects it and you feel that trust. Loved it in Eversion and TWW!
Hi hi anon!
1. I was surprised Polly didn't react to Gary's Big Stinky!! Can dogs not smell human pheromones at all (and e.g. learn to associate certain smells w certain states/behaviors in their owners), or is Polly just... Polly?
Polly is Polly. Of the 700 million to 1 billion dogs in the world, there's only a very tiny percentage that can sniff out cancer! (Or detect seizures etc.) (Also of the research done so far, trained sniffer dogs re: cancer are still giving a false positive around 10-30 percent of the time, which isn't great for drug busts, but is even worse if you're one of the 30%~ of patients given a false positive diagnosis for cancer and then have to wait to find out if it's wrong or not - we have a ways to go! Like, there are unusually adept cancer sniffer dogs, and then there's ones that'll just false positive on you a LOT which combined with the false negative rates is like... they're still working on it.
Lots of potential, but they're not rolling it out everywhere just yet so that people don't get PTSD from false positive cancer results (it happens) and then need an entirely different kind of service dog dslfkjasd) - I believe what the research has pivoted towards is trying to isolate what the dogs are smelling, so that we can omit dogs entirely and use breath test strips that won't have a 10-30% false positive rate (or a high false negative rate) - afaik for at least some kinds of cancer, that research is super promising in cancer detection science (this subject is of broad interest to me, as I have a genetic cancer sdlkajfs).
But also, Polly's been with Gary all her life, she's used to his pheromones, his strong emotions, and his issues. She literally lives on a property with three peak alphas, a near-constant influx of severely distressed omegas, and also severely distressed alphas tbh, she's extremely used to it, and it's also all she's ever known.
The world according to Polly is a world where high levels of distressing pheromones happen, and it doesn't stop how much love she gets or how much she's adored. She has no reason to react like it's unusual, no one's ever directing that anger at her. And also, she's elderly, and her senses aren't what they used to be anyway. But if this had happened when she was younger, I think she mostly would've been like 'I'll go stand near the upset person and see if I can get some pets.'
I'm sure there are awesome applications for service dogs in the UtR world, but tbh, this is a world that thinks of using directives first to fix mental illness issues, than like...service dogs, so the dystopian universe bears out a little more on that front!
But I also just frankly don't think that canines are that clued into human pheromones overall in this universe, or at least, not in a way where they often super care about them? Like, I'm sure more high strung, neurotic dogs would get stressed, but I think it would be the same amount of stress they'd show if someone was emotional or distraught or stressed in general, not necessarily something that blows up purely in response to pheromone production.
2. I know you may just not know yet, but do you think Ef will ever use his safeword? I'm a huge sucker for the moment when a character safewords and their partner respects it and you feel that trust. Loved it in Eversion and TWW!
You may not have read it (and there's no obligation to!), but Efnisien uses his safeword/s a ton in Falling Falling Stars, to the point where desensitising him to safewords is part of his character arc, so I'm on the fence about if/when he'll use it in this story.
I kind of like the whole spectrum of safeword usage, from 'not at all' to 'all the time.' I've just come from a fic where Efnisien was using it all the time (Falling Falling Stars) so I'm not likely to have anything like that in the fic that follows. Efnisien's personality here is along a poor communication spectrum with a preference for letting someone take control in the bedroom, and the safeword is there mostly for reader comfort, because I don't think Efnisien wants one at all. Which isn't to say he'll never use it - because I have no plan for this story dslkajfsd - but in all the future scenes I've imagined between them, there's none where the safeword is being used, and that's not always because Efnisien is 100% on board with what's happening.
(Discussion of Gary's attitude towards safeword under the Read More, which some folks may find unpleasant).
It's funny in a way, in all of canon Fae Tales, Augus never allows Gwyn a safeword once, doesn't even suggest it, and most of their early scenes are back and forth rape, basically, and then it shifts to dubcon and 'pretty much never negotiated CNC - the consent is that neither of them leave and they're in love' lol. The Wildness Within was the first ever fic where he introduced a safeword system, and I remember thinking 'canon Augus could never' lmao.
Gary really only has a safeword system so he doesn't get taken to court, because every single time he's had sex with alphas (including James a lot of the time), it was always dubious consent, and never 100% enthusiastic consent anyway. He would definitely honour a safeword, but like, if an alpha he picked up for the weekend used that safeword, he'd also feel low key pretty dismissive of them for it, like 'you wanted to sleep with a peak alpha, what the hell did you expect.' I doubt he'd say that, but he certainly wouldn't be sticking around to offer aftercare, so much as 'oh good, I'll leave then, call a friend or something. I'm going back to the club / pub to pick someone up who won't bail halfway through.'
I think he'd be much more likely to be compassionate/caring with a partner like James or Efnisien, but at the same time, I think he doesn't want a partner who's going to safeword a lot and he'd probably be not very attracted to them if they did x.x As Gary says to Efnisien in a later chapter:
‘I’ve been told it doesn’t feel very nice,’ Gary added. Then: ‘Sleeping with a peak alpha isn’t the same as sleeping with alphas or omegas or betas. We’re not…the same. It’s not just about having a knot, it’s not just about having a large cock, we need to be a controlling partner in a way that seeks to overwhelm. The only reason we can trust Augus with omegas is that he channels all his peak alpha urges into very experienced BDSM. He’ll use ropes and restraints where most of us will just fuck someone unconscious. So Augus can be around omegas, because he knows how to take their control without harming them. Most peak alphas are dangerous to be around anyone carnally. We are predisposed to ripping people’s consent away. The urge to rape and debase is built in.’
This is a dystopian universe with a rape/noncon warning, and the rape/noncon warning applies to Gary and Efnisien, because the dubious consent at times is extremely dubious.
It probably seems extreme, but I think the flip is so strong because Falling Falling Stars was trauma informed, consent focused, safeword celebratory, and probably the most consensual thing I've ever written in my life.
And it's not the only kind of story I enjoy writing. I started out writing serials that had no safewords at all, and it's often my preference, so... well now we have a kind of broad mix! :D

20 Questions for Fic Writers
I was tagged by @ilthit
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
229
2. What’s your total A03 word count?
736,388, including fics written with coauthors.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I'm not currently super involved in writing for any fandoms unless you count various ttrpg universes, in which case the rp writing I've done that's made it onto AO3 is my and @ilthit's Righteous Blood Ruthless Blades epic.
Other fandoms that I've written more than ten stories for, and were my main fandom at one point or another, include Stand Still Stay Silent, Diana Wynne Jones books (mostly the Chrestomanci series but not exclusively), Vorkosigan Saga, Percy Jackson and related fandoms (mostly Heroes of Olympus characters/era), and Legend of Korra (plus one A:tLA era/characters fic). But there was also a period where exchange fandom was my fandom (I still do the occasional exchange but not as much and usually not the big ones), and also I have been known to write a fic as a reaction to a book or a piece of media and then move on, so the vast majority of fandoms I've written for, I've written a single fic for. Tomorrow? Who knows!
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Natural (Howl's Moving Castle, by far my most popular fic by most metrics, and will likely become my top fic by hits any day now as well) [redacted] [redacted] The Family Expert (Vorkosigan Saga) Five Strays Elizabeth Naismith Took in (and One That Got Away) (Vorkosigan Saga)
Vorkosigan fandom is pretty generous with feedback in general.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Almost always. It can be a good way to have a conversation with readers and even make friends (although most of the time, I'm too awkward to respond even to detailed comments with much more than a "thank you", which I realize is counterproductive for these purposes /o\). More importantly, I want to let the commenter know that I appreciated their comment. There is a chance that this will lead to more comments, if not from that particular commenter, then from others?
(I'm not saying that authors have to respond to comments, or that they should if they don't want to, but personally I prioritize leaving comments on fics whose authors consistently respond to comments, because that way I have a good indication that comments are appreciated. I realize that the vast majority of authors like getting comments even when they don't respond to them, but I have actually run into a few who don't really care either way. Not to mention that if you're reading older fics, the account may have been abandoned or something and the author may not even see your comment. When every comment takes time and mental and emotional energy, it just makes sense to prioritize.) (I know, I should make an effort to leave more comments on the stories I read. /o\ It it what it is.) (Also, perhaps I should add that as much as I like getting comments (I really like getting comments), I also appreciate kudos and other forms of feedback etc.)
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Ah, hmm. I have written a lot of bad ends and angst, but I think I would have to go with [redacted].
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Again, hard to answer. Do you mean the fic where the characters are happiest at the end, or one that fixed canon the most, or gives the most triumphant or warmest fuzziest feeling to the reader, or what? I will say A Year and a Day (Mr. Fox, folk song), which fits several of these criteria, and was also very gladly received by its recipient.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Almost never.
9. Do you write smut?
I do, but I have gotten into the habit of not linking to it or discussing it in detail here, because I had young followers. (The ones I knew about have since grown up, but I don't know the life of everyone who follows me. Seems like a reasonable habit to keep up, much respect to people who systematically block underage followers or just warn them away to maintain an adult space, big fan of adult spaces, but it could not be me on here.) Hence the [redacted]s.
10. Do you write crossovers?
Occasionally. Much more often I will have ideas for crossovers which I can't quite wrangle into a coherent fic. (Same as AUs really).
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not personally, as far as I know.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Several, mostly into Russian, one into Chinese. (And maybe some more on sites other than AO3 that I have forgotten about). I have a blanket permission on my profile, which helps encourage this. Anyone who wants to translate, podfic, remix, write fic of, or make art of my fics, PLEASE DO.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! Mostly as previous mentioned with @ilthit
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
My most written ship on AO3, setting aside OC / OC which is several ships in a trenchcoat, is Emil/Lalli from Stand Still Stay Silent. It's as good an answer as any.
15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Several, alas! Of the ones that I went as far as to start posting on AO3 I will call it a tie between The Hunt of the Unicorn (Chrestomanci) and Get Me to the Church on Time (Heroes of Olympus).
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue, characterization in general, prose. Some readers have complimented my worldbuilding, but I don't feel like I'm that good at worldbuilding? Perhaps I make up for in creativity and vividness what I lack in consistency and thinking through everything, idk.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Finishing things, alas. Being able to write fast or consistently, and to stay focused on a project. Also, perhaps relatedly, plot, and planning ahead in general.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I have done it, I like to do it, but I do feel like there should be a reason for it beyond "this character is speaking a different language now." Also, if it's a language I don't speak well, I would be extra hesitant to do it without a consultant who did speak that language well. I have been lucky enough in the past to be able to find consultants. Conlangs are a different and greyer area.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
I, uh, hm. Depending on how you define your terms, probably Animorphs? Never finished or posted that story; I don't know if the notebook I wrote it in still exists in my parents' basement or what.
20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?
Ah, I cannot narrow it down! But of the fics I've posted on AO3, the ones I've written with @ilthit were probably the most fun to write.
Has everybody been tagged? @grammarpedant, you up for it? (no worries if not).

Can average students survive law school?
making it in law school isn't all about scholastic record, imo. it may be an indicator (ie., honours students may fall into a type that statistically does well in law school, or may have ingrained study habits that help them fare better, or are more disciplined, or whatnot). conversely, honours students who are used to being on top and can't cope with failure may *not* do so well in law school where everyone's expected to fail at least once.
just to drive home the point that scholastic record isn't everything, one of our professors is dyslexic and went on to not only make it through law school and the Bar exams, but became a full-time prosecutor. professor-ing was just a side gig. (pssst @nathalunalune ;))
imo, what really counts towards law school survival is some form of discipline, good study habits, grit, and faith. the grit and the faith are especially important because sometimes, no matter how hard you study, you're going to turn out a bad exam score, or a failing mark. it's the subjective nature of law school exams, i think. so the key is to examine where you may have gone wrong, cry if you need to, and then in the words of Fred Astaire, "pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again".
and keep the faith! in God if you believe in/have one, in the higher forces if you're spiritual, and always, in yourself. cos baby, you're the one who's carrying yourself through law school! you're the one putting in the hours and the hard work! if you don't believe you can make it, you're going to be jumping on a self-fulfilling prophecy train!
so believe that it's yours, that you're meant to be in the legal profession - from law school all the way to the bar and beyond. it will give you a dream to fight for, and will carry you through the hard days, promise.
then when you finally become a lawyer, always remember the oath you swore and never, NEVER ever scalp anyone for even a grain of profit. remember your humble beginnings, remember your role as a peacemaker, and do the most possible good for everybody.
best of luck if you're trying for/in law school, nonnie! 😘

Random fashion survey, I am quite bored today
What are your favorite type of fashion styles?
Do you practice those styles? (I understand not being able to, I can't due to financial instability 😅)
Do you have any specific dream pieces, even if unattainable (i.e. if they are discontinued or designer)
Is your fashion sense very broad, or more tuned in to a couple styles?
Would you say characters you enjoy have further influenced your interest in certain styles? I know that you personally gravitate towards some that happen to have a similar vibe! ✨️
awawwawa I'm so bad with fashion, but I'll try my best to answer this!! And since it got long
I'm def into alternative fashion, goth, emo, punk... Whatever makes you look like a bad bitch I guess. I'm also into whatever is elegant, as if you have everything you want in life like, idk, big fluffy coats. I know nothing about fashion name styles so I hope this makes sense in some way.
I tend to dress with long pieces of clothing, as in long dresses, long skirts, long coats, long flowy pants. Also have some shirts and blouses I adore. I recently bought these pants and I'm in literal love with them
Tumblr media
There's also a lot of black and dark colors in my wardrobe, but you can find a little bit of everything in there. The most important thing for me is that it's comfy to wear. My most usual look is a tee, jeans and a leather jacket or cardigan or whatever. Some of my looks are these (enjoy my face lol)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think it's obvious I don't practice those styles www I'm not bold enough irl to do so, minus the big coats and elegant thing. I have a few of those ✨ And honestly? I want anything KINGLYMASK sells. It's. So. Damn. Cool. That's exactly the style I like and I want everything there but alas, no money
I think my fashion sense is p broad. I'm open to a lot of options and every now and then I throw on something different from usual, to spice things up (?)
And lastly, the chara thing.... I don't know? Am I influenced by them or do I find them appealing cause they wear fashion I like? I have no clue, but I know that I 1. Want Kuko's looks and 2. Want (most of) Jyushi's looks

🐚 Daughter of Neptune headcanons list... 🌊 part three
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note: ahhh finally done with this unexpected series. Also, this is twice as long as the previous two parts, I got soo carried away haha, well you can't blame me, writing is so fun! This is the last part of this headcanon series, I had so much fun writing this?? Even though I had like a mini writer's block at first, I swear I started typing this part out having no idea what I was doing, but it all turned out better than I expected. This part is not just Jason x reader but it also includes so much platonic stuff with the others of the seven + Reyna + Nico. It's just so fluffy omgg. Happy reading! Thank you sm for all the notes you guys have given me for the previous two parts! Tell me if you guys enjoyed it, do you think I should consider writing more of these headcanon stuff in the future?
Part one: https://www.tumblr.com/somewhereinhogsmeade/746404816602972160/daughter-of-neptune-headcanons?source=share
Part two: https://www.tumblr.com/somewhereinhogsmeade/746489087922520064/daughter-of-neptune-headcanons-list-part-two?source=share
•After Jason woke up on the bus, he'd actually remember your eyes and voice VERY clearly. Because those were his two favorite things about you. But Hera had whacked him on the head pretty badly, so he couldn't remember ALL the details about you in the beginning, like Percy did. (I honestly wanted to make him remember you fully even after Hera wiped his memory off, but that would be too similar to Percy and Annabeth lol so I didn't want it to be cliche sorry)
•Now you guys may be wondering, what about Piper and Jason? Okay Piper would admit her feelings for him, but Jason would turn her down, albeit politely though, because it felt utterly wrong. He knew about this special person in his forgotten life, even though her figure was wispy and blurry. He never had any attraction towards Piper, she was a good friend, sure, and it didn't matter how pretty people thought Piper was, because those black Obsidian eyes of the mystery girl he was so familiar with, was alone prettier by every means. (We all love a loyal whipped Jason who thinks that a pair of eyes are more beautiful than a daughter of Aphrodite)
•He knew you were special. He knew that he didn't belong there, in the wilderness school. He knew that he was miles away from home. His real home. But the name of that home never came to him. •the moment he looked at his SPQR tattoo, though, it would bring him vigorous flashes of you and him sparring in a training room.
•Aeolus the wind god, would remind Jason of the time you and him stayed at his palace to slay Trojan the sea monster. Well, of course you went, how can you go to slay a sea monster without taking a sea child with you? Right? That was the last quest you and Jason went on before he disappeared.
Aeolus would trigger that one memory in Jason. Thank the gods for Aeolus. That one memory trigger is what made everything gush back to Jason like a tide.
•He’d remember your name, finally. His Best friend. His crush. His maybe girlfriend. He'd remember his friends from his home. Camp Jupiter. Gosh. He felt such a burst of energy simply by saying that name. Now, he felt homesick.
So you could imagine the excitement he felt, when Leo was building the argo ii. He'd practically gush about you to Leo, and even Piper would be super cool with it. Over the course of the months, Piper realized that Jason and her were not romantically compatible at all, it was all Hera’s mist. She didn't even know what she was thinking, crushing on someone who was so different from her on every level. So now Piper and Jason were like homie coded.
You were super worried after Percy told you that the new, Greek ship, the argo ii would land today. Which was pretty weird, since it meant that Jason was coming back to you. Why were you worried?
•Well, for lots of reasons, what if Jason didn't remember you anymore, what if he lost his feelings for you, what if he found someone else? The stress was real.
•Without even realizing it, you poured your thoughts out to Percy, whom you initially refused to tell about your’s and Jason's.. er.. situationship.
•Percy, would surprisingly be chill about it?? Like you were expecting some panicking now that he knew his sister was romantically involved with someone.
•Percy would calmly tell you that Jason wouldn't stop loving you, proudly pointing to himself as an example, that he never stopped loving annabeth even after the Hera Fiasco. Well. He had a point. That boy was still whipped for his girl.
•So when you locked eyes with Jason, and saw the familiar gleam in his eyes, you knew, he didn't forget. You forgot how piercing his blue eyed gaze was, because it made you feel stuff erupting from your stomach lol (blud is the definition of 🧿👄🧿)
•Without even caring about what your fellow Romans thought, Jason and you would just lunge onto each other tbh. Its canon that Jason is the best hugger ever, so it would be a rib crushing kinda hug.
•You would be SO relieved that he'd remember you and he'd be so relieved that you didn't move on.
•You guys wouldn't kiss, not yet. You still haven't exactly acknowledged your relationship status, BUTTT you do the cheesy af forehead touch thing (you could have sworn percy fake-gagged LOL)That's when Jason noticed your praetor badge, he’d be stunned, and would ask you for details, you’d simply point to the golden eagle perched at the end of the senate house and tell him that you and percy got elected after you both returned the eagle together.
He’d fall in love all over again omgg the heart eyes he’d give youuu. He knew that you were downplaying your achievements tho, so he’d secretly ask Reyna for the full details lol. (Reyna was a proud mom, so she’d give Jason ALLL the deets)
•okay so when Annabeth judo flips percy, you'd be SO taken aback lol, you’d even get a lil uncomfortable bc well that's YOUR brother getting attacked by a random girl- so initially you’d be ready af to throw hands. But after Percy starts laughing you’d realize that THAT'S annabeth. Like Percy's Annabeth. Dam, your brother was with a fierce girl.ANYWAYS, Percy would introduce Annabeth to you proudly, like “THIS is MY sister” (so dramatic and for what reason)
Annabeth would initially be very nervous around you, because, one, she didn't know that Poseidon had ANOTHER kid, gods know what havoc you and percy would cause together, two, you meant a lot to percy and she could clearly see that, an idiot could deny how much love your brother had for you, so she was determined to not mess up her reputation around you, ESPECIALLY after she the look on your face when she flipped Percy (you had a hot temper, need i mention, so without even realizing it, you had directed a very fierce glare at her, oopsie).
Octavian would again, not give up in trying remove your’s and percy’s praetorship by going “Oh there cant be four praetors its against the rules” blah blah that's where percy intervenes with his legendary “we all outrank you loser” lol
So after the group’s lunch scene where they discuss the prophecies and stuff. You, Reyna and Jason would actually talk amongst yourselves, after you guys came to the conclusion that you will have to join the gang in the argo ii. Jason would secretly be overjoyed that he doesn't need to separate from you anymore but you guys would still be sad that Reyna wouldn't be able to come.
This also meant that you would have to give your praetorship up. Gosh your positions in camp Jupiter somehow never stuck permanently, you'd even joke about that. And Reyna would have to handle Camp Jupiter by herself now that all three of you left, But Reyna assured you that it wasn't your fault.
Okay enough with the plot yapping I did. Bc if I continue it would go on for ages. The main reason you're here is because of reader x jason and I'm kinda deviating from that a little.
It would actually take so long till you and Jason get alone time on the argo ii because of group discussions and coach Hedge lol But you both would meet at the deck at like 2 AM (this kinda reminded you both of the times you and he would sneak out to explore New Rome at night.) That's where you both could feel the tension in the air lol. So many unresolved and unrequited feelings on both ends, how would you approach that?
But thankfully, being best friends first gave you guys an upper hand to moving forward in the relationship very quickly. You'd just start off talking about each other's respective journeys in your respective camps. He'd tell you about the quest with Leo and Piper, and you'd tell him about what went on in Camp Jupiter while he was gone.
That's when you realize that Jason looked a little different than when he left. His hair was Messier, a little longer, no more neatly cropped, his azure eyes sparkled when he spoke of Camp half blood, and the war games they had, how different it was from Camp Jupiter, etc.
But instead of feeling upset about how much Jason enjoyed the other camp, you'd feel relief. Relieved that Jason no longer looked stressed anymore, he'd always held this fatigue in his eyes, while he was at camp Jupiter , it was no wonder, considering the politics he'd had to engage in to prove the worth of the twelfth legion, his leader duties + vigorous training had tired him out, but now, some of the fatigue his eyes held had vanished.
Camp half blood seemed to be the place for him. Now you were itching to go to this mystery camp your maybe boyfriend AND your brother seemed to love so much.
Jason would be super nervous to tell you that he liked it better at camp half blood, and that he secretly wanted you to come and stay with him there though. Because he felt like he was betraying his Roman life. He felt like he was betraying your past.
So when he'd tell you, he'd just yap and yap about it out of nervousness. That's when it happened. That's when you kissed him. You would just pull him in. Period.
He'd be super flustered at first, neck reddening and all, but he'd just lean in and be so into it (he's a neck grabber, fight me) You'd think that as a military dude, the guy would be a bad kisser. Hell no. His dad's the chief of getting all the bitches, he ain't letting his son embarrass him by having no charm lol
OH OH and speaking of the old man, The moment your's and Jason's lips met, you would hear a clasp of thunder and see huge steaks of lightning explode in the sky.
You had to admit, the thought of your dad's watching as you both kissed made you feel weird lol
But if Zeus had hated you so much, he would've zapped you to electrons by now, and if Poseidon had hated jason so much, he would've drowned him. But thankfully, neither happened.
After lots of long deep conversations (and kissing)You both would reach the decision that after the whole gaia situation is over, you'd both stay at Camp half blood, but, you'd both return to settle in New Rome as you grew up. I mean, it's Camp Jupiter that you both dislike staying in, not the city itself. The city is paradise for demigods.
But the fates ruined it, so despite gaia’s defeat (No leo is alive and well here okay) after Jason took up the responsibility of building shrines for minor gods, he had to go back and forth between both the camps.
But you, Reyna, Hazel and Frank would help Jason with the minor gods in Rome, While Jason took care of the Greeks. This made his job a tad easier. So the downside was that you kinda had to do long distance for a while AND you hadn't even visited camp half blood yet (Which got on Percy's nerves, the poor boy wanted to show you around his Camp and cabin SO badly, but the fates never left you or Jason alone. The Romans always had duties in front of them.)
But because you, Reyna, Frank, Hazel, Annabeth, and even Leo helped Jason with the shrine stuff. The job got done a lot quicker.
You both were finally at peace. So as a celebration to finishing the shrine project, Percy and Jason DRAGGED you to camp half blood and had the whole day spent with all of the 7 (including Reyna and Nico).
When I tell you, you've never had THIS much fun ALL your life omg.
You never got to bond with Leo, Piper or Annabeth properly because of the war, and stuff. But today? It was like you guys have been friends since forever.
You played capture the flag, You and Percy used up your water shenanigans to put on the most dramatic fountain show EVER (Annabeth was right in her judgment, you both were completely chaotic together) she realized how fun you actually were, not even half as grumpy as you looked. After you and Percy caused a huge avalanche that almost turned into a hail storm (which was prevented by wind boy Jason) Leo told you guys to stop flexing your fancy shmancy weather powers.
Piper taught you guys how to surf, which only ended in You and Percy somehow splattering water on each other and you aggressively tackling him into the bottom of the ocean, WHICH ended in a chaotic “who can swim faster?’’ competition between you both, You both were SO dedicated that you created a huge bubble to bring everyone into the bottom of the ocean to spectate (Frank turned into a sea urchin though lol)
You and Percy ended up in an argument over who won. Mind you, if you read part one, you'd know that Percy and you have this ability to telepathically converse with each other underwater, but only you both understand, so it would end up looking like you're making strangled fish noises to the others. Nico, Piper, and Leo were absolutely hysterical. Jason was amused but so clueless. Hazel was mortified, while Annabeth and Reyna hoped you and Percy didn't kill each other. And Frank? He was still an urchin.
Also, since You, Jason, Percy, Annabeth, Hazel and Frank would all go to New Rome College together, you guys would have SO many double dates together omgg.
I forgot to mention, you met Tyson and Percy's new little sister Estelle, so now your sibling group has expanded even more.
did i mention that percy and you would have matching dolphin plushies? yeah. he'd have the blue and you'd have the grey
Tyson would love you sm omg :( he'd keep making you stuff every time you showed up in camp half blood.
Also, Sometimes when Percy and Annabeth would be busy, You and jason would so babysit Estelle (which Sally would adore) Jason would so take Estelle flying.
can I just take this moment to emphasize how much Sally would care about Jason?? Like after hearing jason’s erm tragic past, Sally would get so protective of him and give him sm food and everything :( Jason would get a little emotional too. Like you can just see his eyes tearing up whenever Sally hugs him :(((
Even though Reyna joined the hunters, You and Jason would make it a point to see her at least Every two weeks. She'd be so proud of how far you and Jason had come, even after the long break that temporarily had your relationship on hold. Now Reyna could sleep peacefully lol since the poor girl had seen you both hopelessly pining for eachother since you were like 9 lol
She had listened to you telling her that you weren't good enough for Jason to like you back, AND him telling her that he wasn't good enough for you, after all.
Okay after you guys got older, because of the amount of services you and Jason had done for Camp Jupiter, you guys would end up receiving such a cool house in New Rome as a gift (it's like the least you deserved for all that you've been through lol) It would have a fancy Roman bath and everything. and even better, it was not far from where percy and Annabeth were living. So it was a win win.
You and Jason would totally iris message Nico at least once a week, you both were basically proud parents when you see Nico all lovey dovey in a relationship with Will. (Is this how Reyna felt seeing you and Jason? Maybe, yes)
Also, you and Thalia met not long after she came to Rome to check out the minor god's shrines. She loved you, like almost immediately, Jason iris messaged her atleast twice a week, so he told her all about you. So Thalia would be SO happy that someone was treating her lil bro right. He deserved that.
Speaking of family, Zeus had just grudgingly accepted that you were his son's girlfriend lol Poseidon would actually be a little chill about it. He wasn't as judgemental as his brother. But just because you and Jason were dating didn't mean that your dad's didn't stop having a go at each other lol
But you both would make it a point to start aggressively kissing eachother whenever you spot statues of your dad's placed next to eachother. Simply to piss them off. And it works. Every. Single. Time.
You would hear a clasp of thunder each time you do this. You and Jason would just look at eachother and burst into giggles. It was a tradition now between you both.
Sometimes Jason would still look at you like you were made of stardust, and vice versa.
In the end, you and Jason were what people called “Childhood Sweethearts”

I think I have always loved you--rulie?
When Reggie was a kid, he thought his parent's job as scientists studying the paranormal was super cool-it was like they were GhostBusters!
Only they never seemed to catch anything, and he soon figured out that if it weren't for investors who enjoyed throwing away their money, the Peters would be out on the street.
By the time he was a teenager, Reggie thought his parents were incredibly lame. They constantly went around in their ghost hunting suits, looking slightly manic as they failed time and time again to find anything. They were spending more time hunting for spectres than with their son.
Reggie tried to get into it, just for the bonding time. But he was better with machines than the supernatural stuff, so at least they came to him to help with repairs rather than never.
Then they made the portal, to what they explained was the ‘ghost zone’-the place where ghosts went when not haunting the living. Reggie wasn’t sure it existed, but if they could get it working… it would mean big things.
Maybe they could even take a vacation!
Of course it didn’t work, wouldn’t even turn on, and his parents walked away in defeat.
“I’m gonna try and fix it,” he told his best friend Julie. She had been his constant companion since childhood, and even if she didn’t get the whole ghost thing, she supported him in his every endeavour. He couldn’t tell her the truth though, knew she would pity him when her parents were so attentive and loving at all times.
“Do you want my help?” she asked. “I can hand you wrenches and screws and the like.”
“That’d be great.”
So the next afternoon, Reggie put on his own ghost hunting suit-more so to keep his clothes clean than anything-and went into the portal. He could see the disconnected wires from the start, so he began twining them together, attaching each one to where it needed to be.
“Reggie are you sure this thing is powered off?” Julie called from the lab. “It’s kinda humming!”
“What?” he called as he connected the last wire. And a great jolt of electricity shot through him, sending him flying back to the lab, Julie screaming his name.
When he blinked his eyes open, Julie was looking down at him. “Hey,” he said, then coughed. “That hurt.”
He shivered then, and he could see his breath, a bluish wisp. That was new. He lifted his hand up and saw his jumpsuit was changed somehow. Wasn’t it white before? Now it was black.
He looked at Julie, and saw the fear in her face. “Jules?”
“I think you’re dead,” she whispered. “Only… maybe not? You’re still in your body but you look…”
She held up a mirror from her purse, and Reggie looked at himself. His once black hair was now Snow White, his eyes now a glowing ghoulish green rather than the greyish green they were before. “What happened?”
“I think the ghost place infected you,” Julie said. “I saw-well they had to be ghosts come out.”
Reggie groaned. “Well I best get them back in there, because goodness knows my folks won’t catch them.”
“So you’re going to be some half ghost superhero?” Julie asked him.
“I dunno about that,” Reggie said. “I don’t know if I have powers or anything. I just know this is my fault, and I have to fix it. Why, will you stop loving me if I become Ghost Dude or something.”
“I think I’ve always loved you,” Julie admitted, but quietly, so quiet that Reggie almost missed it. “More than you know. But we’re getting you a better super hero name and figuring it out together.”
“Sounds good,” Reggie said, and went to grab her hand, only it went through. “Powers first because I don’t know if I wanna live without kissing you much longer.”
Julie giggled, and sat down across from him, the two of them spending the afternoon figuring it out. And by the time Phantom had it handled, he had also given Julie a very long kiss that made her shiver-for all the right reasons.

Hey Baba, it seems like you've been seeing a lot of yucky stuff online right now. A lot of people who aren't remembering their manners and are forgetting that there's people behind a screen. I know you like your screen time but please remember that the world isn't all like that okay? Some people are different online and forget their values and let's remember that these days, algorithms perpously show you things that'll make you upset. Yes, yes it's not very fair, is it sweetheart. Please remember to take some breaks and that the world isn't really like that. It's so important to protect yourself. Yes, silly even if you think you don't deserve it; because you do.

Do you ever think about how when Ruin was still under the virus's control, Moon was the first person they saw in who knows how long, the person who he reached out to and begged for help, the person who reassured them that he was planning on saving them, the person who explained practically everything to them when they got cured, one of the people who they owe their LIFE to, and now Moon is the one interrogating them, accusing them of rebuilding eclipse, installing a tracker on them (1/2)
Tumblr media
YES
YES I DO AND IT HURTS SO GOSH DARN BAD
New Moon... he just- I used to like him, yes he had his faults even in the past but it was easy to see those as him struggling with coming to terms with being someone who was SOMEONE ELSE before and needing to fit that holr the person left behind. He was relearning everything from scratch. It was understandablw that he would hiccup at some points.
My main appeal of old Moon was mainly that... he could SEE when someone was trying to change, when someone had a chance to turn over a new leaf. Because he HIMSELF had tried and done that. He knew what it was like to be someone viewed in a negative light, but he also knew what it was like to want to BE better and he was lucky enough to get the chance for that. Yes all the celestial family's problems stem from old Moon leaving Eclipse behind in Sun but.. to a level he can't really be blamed for that? He didn't know the killcode would grow sentient, he didn't know it would become its own person. He couldn't have predicted that as it's not something that happened to them before. He wanted to not be a danger to his brother now that they both had their own frames and could exist side to side.
The new Moon... he doesn't KNOW that. He doesn't know why the old Moon did the stuff he did. He doesn't know what it's like to be shaped into a monster by design yet wish for something better, something more. He DOESN'T. He'd never had the chance to learn or experience what that's like. The old Moon had. He doesn't know what to look for in a person to see that they wish to be different but are struggling to do so, or refuse to acknowladge it til the last possible moment. That's why he blasted backup Eclipse, he didn't register the desperation in his voice as genuine ladt ditch attempt to be given a moment to explain. No, he saw it as manipulation. The old Moon, by all means, would hsve most likely picked up on that as... NOT something Eclipse had ever done before. So backup Eclipse was blasted
I think the only reason he picked up on Ruin Eclipse not being the one in control there was solely because he sent Sun into the Ruin dimension and had the proof of that handed to him on a silver platter. Robots there have been infected by a virus that makes them go crazy and kill organic life. So.. he had proof of a person existing under the virus' control. And he did what he could to get that person out of the deep virus riddled sea they were trapped in. Because. He. Had. Proof.
After they managed to cure Ruin Eclipse? He. Had. No. Proof. Of. The. Virus. Being. Gone. He explained everything to them after they woke up, because they needed to know that no, you can't go home. Yes, you're stuck with us now. You were a bad guy. If I remember correctly, Ruin Eclipse was last aware of themself in the year of 2015 or 2017 (< in the episode they woke up, they weren't sure themselves) and the virus had been in their system for... 50ish years? Unsure.
Now we're here. Where they're getting shoved off to the side. Which has been mainly started by the same person that gave them their mind back. Why? Because Moon has no proof of them being cured. He has nothing. So, he's wary, distrustful. Shoving Ruin Eclipse to the side to make them not be a problem. While.. being SURPRISED when they want to help and be included. They didn't ask for this. For all we know they could be locked up in the arcade, reminiscing on how it all probably would be better if they haven't been cured. Haven't been aware. Haven't ever left their dimension. Ect. Ect.
They are lonely and desperate. Confused. Kept out of the loop. They don't know anything unless they ASK. They are thought of as stupid, when.. Ruin, while infected, was miles above Moon and Eclipse combined. To this day, they don't know how he could read what was in the static screens, or even how he did it. No one knows how he did it. And then we have our cured Ruin Eclipse who, may not be as much of a smartsy as Ruin was, but they ARE Sun and Moon combined. They aren't as smart as Moon, sure. But they know how to follow blueprints. If they have a blueprint for something, they can follow it to a T. It's downright insulting to think of them as stupid (same with Sun, he isn't stupid either). Moon thought it necessary to explain how the tracker works at which- Ruin Clipsy was probably thinking something along the lines of "I know how a tracker works."
They just- gosh, they need someone to talk to. To be there with them. Just someone who they can ramble off to, info dump, whatever else they need. Physical touch's important and they've.. I feel like they've been kept away from that a lot

I need us Tenlark shippers to be canon in the cfdau universe. Can you imagine? I'd totally send fanart portraits of Tenar to Nancy.
Do you think the cast members of Erathia get fan gifts and collect them? Does the cast have their own favorite movie merch? And were there any goofy action figures?
oh my god my girlssssss they're so precious! also?? slap scene my beloved???? i love <3
pretty sure this whole tenlark phenomenon started with me mentioning that there were tenlark shippers mailing zines to each other back in the 80s/90s. we're absolutely canon here
also, yes to the fan gifts! it's actually mentioned (briefly and vaguely) in both the cfdau and later on in the nancy pov--Nancy has a lil console table that, when she moves into her apartment, Max and Robin decorate with fan gifts and letters she's gotten over the years
also i've never thought about it before but now that you mention it yes there absolutely were goofy action figures. Arren's and Moss's were the most popular, but there was a special edition version of Lark that came with her horse and if you could get your hands on that you were the coolest kid in school
as for favorite movie merch, i'm absolutely making this up on the fly, but...
Dustin thought the line of Erathia trading cards was the coolest thing in the world when he was a kid, and it's still his favorite thing to sign to this day.
Steve has a surprising soft spot for all the really little, dorky things like Erathia pez dispensers and erasers and stuff. Max has an extremely worn t-shirt from the first film that probably belonged to Robin at some point, but she's had it for so long that no one really knows for sure.
Nancy's is a Tenar doll that released after the third film where she's in her princess gown, but if you take the dress off underneath it she's wearing her armor. It comes with her sword too and she secretly thinks it's the coolest Erathia merch they ever released.
And as for Robin, she tells people that her favorite merch is the silly little Tenar elf ears they tried to sell for a very limited time back in '84, and that answer never fails to make Nancy all flustered and huffy. But in reality her answer is her VHS of the first film, simply because she got the entire cast to sign it at some point and it's always been on her TV stand in every home she's lived in ever since
