Talking Buddie Language: Ep 6.17
Well friends, we’re almost done with season sex, I mean six! It’s honestly been such a rollercoaster journey, one in which we’ve had great moments and some not so great ones. I’m really looking forward to the finale episode and seeing how they’re going to tie everyone’s storylines for this season and how they’re going to set up their upcoming arcs for season 7. There was a lot of foreshadowing and parallels in this episode that I believe will play a pivotal role for Buddie’s eventual romantic pairing. So I’m just going to get into this week’s meta!
Proposal Gone Wrong
The proposal gone wrong was kind of sad in my opinion. I mean you don’t necessarily need to do something drastic to assure your significant other will respond positively. It kind of creates this notion in which the other person feels forced to say yes because you did that grand gesture, which is exactly what happened here. The guy proposed to his girlfriend of 2 years by jumping off a building, got stuck in a freak accident and she said yes because she felt like she had to. The little moment she had with Eddie and Chim is what I want to focus on a bit here.
E: So what do you wanna do?
M: I guess I’ll wait a few months and then break it off.
Now the reason I bring this up is because doesn’t this remind you of something else? Didn’t Eddie also date Ana for months and thought he should keep going only because his kid loved her? He waited and then broke it off when he knew it wasn’t right for him. Now this can also possibly foreshadow his next relationship if he decides to actually give Marisol a chance. I mean I’ll go more into that later on. But I think if he does date her, possibly out of fear of being alone, it can easily be assumed that he’ll wait a few months before he breaks it off because deep inside he knows she’s not the one for him. I just feel like this line not only wanted us to remember Eddie’s been there but that it’s possible he’ll be in a position like this again.
Buck and Eddie Acting Like Idiots
The scene at the station was so funny and I love how we once again got to see how in tune Buck and Eddie are with each other. Not only were they both wearing the blue and green once again, but they were finishing each other’s thoughts once more, thus reminding everyone how in sync they always are.
E: I gotta figure out how to say no to another date my Tia set me up with.
B: Just download a dating app.
E: I did but I can’t bring myself to open it.
Hmm well this reminds me of someone else. Didn’t Bobby make a whole firefighters dating profile back in season 1? And he didn’t even end up using it. So that can parallel the fact that Eddie also downloaded a dating app but still has yet to actually use it. This was only the beginning of Eddie’s storyline heavily mirroring Bobby’s from season 1 and I’ll go more into it in a bit!
We also have Buck and Eddie finishing each other’s sentences like they’re this old married couple. They’re always on the same wavelength and it drives me crazy because with each episode we are reminded how perfect they are for each other.
E: Get the insurance money.
B: Buy a new ring and propose.

Eddie’s Attempts At Finding a Date
I really can’t help myself but laugh at how much gayer Eddie gets with and every episode. The entire little failed dating, well no I should say attempts at finding dates, was so sad. How can a man who looks that good with that dump truck fail at attracting women?? Well his little gay outfits didn’t help either. When have we ever seen that man in anything other than a Henley? I didn’t even know Eddie was capable of having such tight clothes like that lol.
The thing that makes me laugh is that he’s trying to find a person to date at places he wouldn’t normally be. Golfing? I do not believe for one second Eddie would play golf nor would he the kind of guy who’d find enjoyment in doing it with a partner. So the fact that we got to see him “put himself out there” but not really make any actual attempts really just highlights that he’s open to finding love but is kind of going about it the wrong ways. And he’s still lying to his son about it considering he told Chris he was running errands lol.
Buck and Natalia Give It Another Shot
I find it very interesting that Buck took Natalia to a bar of all places on a date. The only times we’ve seen him in a bar setting in relation to other love interests were when he hooked up with Taylor in s2 and when he kissed Lucy in s5. So to bring Natalia on a date here really makes me question what his reasoning behind that idea was.
B: This seemed as good as a place as any for you to get to know the real Evan Buckley.
L: Really? I have a few stories.
Tumblr media
Lucy interrupting his date and then proceeding to tell Natalia all about her history with Buck in so many words was a literal sign from the universe. Not only did we get Natalia already judging Buck for his past but also questioning him when he was being honest and genuine about his past whatever with Lucy.
B: Uh hey, what do you think the tip is?
N: They gave you 3 options right down here. You alright?
B: Yeah no I don’t know why I couldn’t figure it out.
N: You’re flustered.
B: It was nothing I promise.
Tumblr media
I think the fact that Buck just can’t do math all of a sudden to be such a bold choice of the writers. His entire math superpowers were connected to Eddie and Christopher. He realized he was the guy with the answers while looking at his Diaz boys. Then Eddie even took him out to put those newfound powers to good use all dressed up. So there was no need to mention that he can’t figure out the correct too amount while he’s with Natalia unless it was deliberately done to empathize how he clearly doesn’t have the answers while he’s with the wrong person. It was such an obvious random thing that wasn’t so random when you think about the connection to his math powers and what it can mean.
Natalia also wrongly assuming he can’t figure out the tip because he’s flustered just further proves she doesn’t really see him the way he initially believed. She was skeptical and looked at him like he was hiding something away from her. Her eyes were disbelieving which isn’t a great foundation to start a new relationship on.
Even the color theory checks out here to further confirm Natalia is not the one for Buck. Both dates they’ve been on by this point, she’s been in red, whereas Buck has been in tan/beige. He’s not wearing blue at the same time she’s wearing red.
The 118 Discuss Buck & Eddie’s Dating Lives
Once again I absolutely adore each and every time we see the 118 discuss their personal problems/lives in the truck. This was the scene we had spoiled to us months ago and it was definitely different than what we all were expecting!
B: Does she request to not come back?
Tumblr media
Eddie’s side eye during Buck asking about Lucy is totally on brand for every other time we’ve seen Eddie react to one of Buck’s old flings. Especially this season where we’ve seen him dismiss Buck any time he mentions previous lovers. Love me some jealous Eddie!
E: So your day off went as good as mine?
H: Hiking and golfing in the same day? Sounds like you were out there looking for signs too Eddie.
E: You know I don’t believe in that stuff. I want what I had when I met Shannon. It just uh, it was magic.
C: Oh so you believe in magic?
E: I believe in chemistry.
H: Ahh in science. I get it.
B: The magic, weren’t you guys in the 12th grade when you met?
E: 8th and then we lost touch. Reconnected in 12th.
Tumblr media
Eddie, oh Eddie. The fact that this man has had many different signs and he refused to listen to each and every one is worrisome because he thinks he’s looking for magic instead. Isn’t magic just another form of a sign from the universe? This man is trying to use chemistry as an excuse as to why he’s not having any luck finding someone. Well chemistry is definitely not something you force with another person. Chemistry is something that should be natural and organic and believable. To be honest, Eddie didn’t even have that much chemistry with Shannon from what we’ve seen. They were attracted sexually and that was it. They didn’t spend much time together on screen to make that chemistry between the two of them palpable enough for the audience. There’s also many different types of chemistry and they definitely had sexual chemistry but seemed to lack actual romantic and emotional chemistry.
The topic of chemistry was very poignant especially because we’ve seen time and time again how much organic chemistry Eddie has with Buck. They’ve been attached at the hip since the beginning and always gravitate to each other. Not only that but they’re both very vulnerable with each other and turn to each other in times of need, which assures emotional chemistry. We’ve also seen Eddie flirt and tease Buck many times throughout the years which indicates a form of sexual chemistry as well. Do I need to remind anyone of the kitchen scene™️ in season 3? So it is possible for Eddie to have chemistry with someone. I just believe it has to be someone he already knows and trusts. He believed he had chemistry with Shannon, who was a longtime friend of his. Well what is Buck? Surely Eddie has got to know that they have chemistry with each other. There’s just got to be something preventing him from connecting those dots to Buck.
B: Ok so that’s what it is. You suck at dating.
BN: Alright Buck, come on.
B: Ah, come on. If he met his wife when they were kids, he just hasn’t really dated.
Tumblr media
I’ve been saying for many years now that one of Eddie’s favorite past times is looking at Buck. This season especially has shown how intensified those looks have been. One thing I found interesting was that as he was talking to Buck and the team, he rarely was holding any eye contact with Buck which indicates he wasn’t all that comfortable discussing the matter. The moment in which Buck diverts his attention elsewhere, Eddie defaults to his typical fond longing looks at Buck. He looks at him for a prolonged time and only looks away when Buck turns back around. He literally looks mesmerized by Buck just talking and even lifts his brows up so slightly like one would when they’re looking at someone they adore. That in itself indicates a secret in which Eddie’s hiding from Buck and that secret may very well be his feelings for the other man.
C: So he sucks at it.
B: Yes!!
H: Clearly you’ve mastered it Buck.
Tumblr media
Eddie’s reaction to Buck agreeing with Chim is hilarious because he immediately gives Buck his patented side eyes. He feels betrayed by Buck in that moment because he’s clearly taken Buck out and he didn’t suck at that. He’s kind of looking at Buck like “Are you serious right now? You know I don’t.” It’s in the subtle way his right brow lifts up in question that makes me believe that. There has to have been a reason the show gave us Buck and Eddie on that poker date before both men started dating other women. It shows a vast difference in how successful that day was compared to their other disastrous dates with others.
Tumblr media
One more thing I would like to mention is once again Buck and Eddie’s strong mirroring. When they’re both singing the bride song, their hands and bodies are moving the same way, to the same beat. I know it can be seen as them just being silly but even though Bobby was also singing, he’s not in sync with his body as the other two clearly are lol.
Eddie and Bobby Go To The Hardware Store
Like when Eddie was dating Ana and he was sorta lying to his son about it, he’s doing the same now. He told Christopher he had been running errands when he was going places in hopes of finding a woman to date. The fact that Eddie feels the need to lie to Christopher about it shows that it’s not something he wants to be doing nor does he feel like it’s the right thing for him. There’s something about his actions that makes him feel like it’s not good enough to let his son know yet.
Eddie calling up his future father in law for help was so sweet and I enjoyed their little scene together, especially because their conversation was very important. Not only was it important but it really did scream Bathena/Buddie parallels.
Tumblr media
E: So how’s you make it happen for you and Athena?
BN: We got called to a motorcycle accident, it was a bad one. I wasn’t at my best at the time. Needed to take a minute. She sat with me. Eventually I asked her to go to church and we prayed together.
E: Wow.
BN: A few days later we had dinner, things grew from there and now we’re about to have our fourth anniversary.
E: So you definitely weren’t looking for it.
Honestly I feel like every time Bobby gives Eddie any kind of advice about his love life, Eddie just misinterprets or misunderstands what he’s trying to say lol. Bobby literally used his own example of how he and Athena came to be which immediately made me think of Eddie’s own past. We all thought of Eddie’s breakdown in season 5 and how Buck was the one who sat next to him. Eddie wasn’t at his best, he needed a minute and Buck was the one who sat next to him. Buck was the one who stayed at his house, helped with his kid, and just was there supporting Eddie in any way he could have. That whole line of Eddie telling Bobby that he wasn’t looking for it can possibly foreshadow him finally opening his eyes and realizing the one who he’s been searching for has always been someone right under his nose. Someone who he didn’t have to go and look for because they’ve always been right by his side.
Buck’s Second Disastrous Date Night
Poor Buck really isn’t listening to the universe is he? This time, during his other date with Natalia, they’re first interrupted by Taylor Kelly on TV talking about her tell all book which was inspired by a member of the 118 she was close with. Natalia quickly puts 2 and 2 together and asks Buck about it, in which he says he’ll explain over dinner. Once again, Buck is having to explain himself and kind of assure her when it’s too early in the “relationship” for her to be questioning him the way she is.
B: Uh, and-and that’s everyone. I think. I-I hope that’s not too much.
N: No. Wow that is a life well lived. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone quite like you. You’re all in about everything. It’s a lot. But I guess I can be a lot too.
Tumblr media
Buck is looking so intensely at her, trying to see if she understands where he’s coming from and if it will be a deal breaker. He smiles and nods to himself when it seems that she is understanding about his past which hurts when you realize this man just wants someone to love and accept him for all of him, the good bad and the ugly.
And then they get intruppted by Kameron coming in because of her marital issues with Connor. A literal sign from the universe. (Not even going to talk about all the 3’s we got just in this episode alone!) Natalia once again thinks it’s a lot and needs a minute to take it all in. She decides then that a person who has lived so much life and has more life to give others is too much for her. She decides to leave and tells Buck to “take care” which is the same exact thing his ex girlfriends have all said to him.
Tumblr media
Now this, to me, indicates a failed attempt at a relationship because things are never going to work out with these two. Not only was she only seemingly interested in Buck’s death, but she doesn’t even want to know more about the life he’s lived. He’s an interesting man so full of energy and love and life that it scares her and makes her want to flee. That’s not a strong foundation in which to start a relationship on and even if she were to come back afterwards, I feel as though Buck has learned from his previous relationship to not settle and compromise who he is for anyone. He’s not going to change for anyone else. Who is meant to be his partner will love him for who he is anyways. Something Natalia clearly can’t do.
Eddie and Buck Not Listening To The Signs
The end montage was funny when you look at everyone off doing what they were doing. We have all the couples together and then we see Eddie go back to the hardware store. He’s clearly looking for something and he can’t find it until someone asks him if he’s looking for soemthing.
I want to talk about Marisol and Eddie’s body language here and how different it is when they both look at each other. Marisol is being flirty and leads into him with her hips first which clearly indicates some type of attraction. Eddie on the other hand takes a step forward and then one back. He doesn’t lean into her, doesn’t prompt a hug or anything. Asks her about her ceiling which indicates he clearly remembers her from a call.
Tumblr media
M: Try this one. Works like magic.
E: This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
Here she mentions magic, something in which Eddie was talking about previously in this episode. He kept saying he wanted what he and Shannon had and that was magic. Magic isn’t real. Magic is things people believe to be real and in this instance, Eddie believes what he had with Shannon was magic, when in reality it wasn’t. They worked hard for their relationship and there were a lot of ups and downs. Marisol saying that and Eddie immediately following up with how that’s what he was looking for is so important because that’s realistically what he had been searching for all episode long on those failed attempts at finding magic. Here we have a woman telling him and he just stops for a moment and thinks about it. He stops and thinks, hey maybe this is my sign. But he walks away. He stops and looks back but there’s clear confusion on his face, almost as if he doesn’t know what fo make about this little interaction. Clearly there’s something on his mind. But he turns around and keeps walking away from her while the music says “But you’re something that I must believe in and you’re there when I reach out for you.”
Tumblr media
This would’ve been the perfect conclusion to his arc this episode. He was looking for magic, it took someone else pointing it out to him to see and he believed that’s what he wanted. But he didn’t do anything about it. He simply walked away. Because he doesn’t believe in it. He doesn’t believe in Marisol or believe her to be the one for him. Because he knows if he were to reach out for help, it wouldn’t be Marisol he reaches out to, at least that’s what my interpretations were. Remember, Eddie says to Bobby, “So you definitely weren’t looking for it” and as soon as Marisol points out the thing, he tells her “This is what I was looking for.” Marisol can’t be the person he’s meant to be with because as we established with Bobby, that someone is never going to be someone Eddie looks for. It’s going to be someone who knows Eddie, someone who can sit beside Eddie when he’s at his lowest and offer their support to him. Someone that’s been under Eddie’s nose this entire time. That’s not Marisol and I think Eddie’s realizing that himself.
(Now if we were to get Eddie somehow misunderstanding this and running into Marisol later on, thinking it’s a definite sign and trying to date her, we already know it’s going to fail because we’ve seen it play out once before with Ana. So regardless, it’s not really something I’m worrying over.)
Finally we get Buck going back to his loft with the pickles Kameron asked for. He goes up to his room and sees Kameron sleeping in his bed. He looks for a moment and turns around and heads back downstairs. Now to me, the quick look he gave her shows longing for that himself. A partner to come home to and a family of his own.
Tumblr media
Buck sitting on his uncomfortable couch and eating the pickles while he looks up indicates he’s still a guest in his own home. He’s kicked out of his bed and he’s looking up once again defeated because he longs to have that for himself. This coming right after Natalia leaving him and once again being left completely alone. He’s also missing what’s right in front of him because he just doesn’t listen to the universe. He’ll get there soon, I believe in it.
So sorry for this being so late this week! I’ve been sick and work has been very very crazy. I hope anyone who is still interested and reads this enjoys it! I appreciate you all regardless. Thanks to my love @aa-lionheart for the wonderful gifs 💜 We got one more of these for the season! Manifesting for it to be good for us ✨

Izzy Hands x Reader (GN)
You were a member of Blackbeard's crew long ago. Then you became a ghost story. Izzy Hands only sees you in his dreams these days, until he sees you for real when investigating Stede Bonnet. This sets him on a rollercoaster of emotions between you and what his captain is doing.
{Masterlist}
{Previous Chapter} - {Next Chapter}
Warnings: Swearing. Heavy plot from episode 3, but you're in it a lot more.
Chapter Two - Delusional
♡♡♡
"What's up with you?"
Izzy was shaken from his thoughts by the voice of his captain. He had come here to explain that he didn't think this Stede Bonnet was really worth his time. Izzy had left out the part where they tried to scare him with a ghost tale.
"Nothin'."
Blackbeard turns slightly in his chair to look at his first mate from the corner of his eye. Izzy was all stiff and quiet. Something was clearly on his mind.
"Just thinkin' of the past, is all."
Blackbeard hummed in thought. Something was bothering his first mate. That wasn't like him.
♡♡♡
Stede returns to his ship with his one prisoner. Lucius just wanted to get out his bloodstained clothes. He had been traumatised enough for one day.
"Tie him back up and I'll go check on our other prisoner."
Stede marched onward below deck.
A week earlier Stede had caught himself a prisoner. They had been trying to steal from him and in an embarrassing scenario that involved being scared, a lot of screaming, and a decent whack to the head, Stede had managed to imprison them. He was just glad to have knocked someone out without accidentally killing them in the process.
Stede looks through the bars to see the prisoner sitting the floor, head bowed down, one arm resting on their knee.
"What?" They ask.
"Uh, nothing. Just checking in on you."
"I see the ship is sailing again."
"Yes, we had some help."
At last you look up at him. Stede was unlike any pirate you had ever heard of. Polite, clean, generous.
"So, what's the plan?" You ask him.
"The plan?"
"Yeah. I've been locked up in about a week. You gotta have a plan, right? Can't just keep me in here forever."
"Right, a plan..."
"You don't have one?"
"Of course I have a plan!" Stede argues. "I'm just not telling you."
"Right..."
"Captain!" The voice of Buttons calls out.
"I have to go. Don't go anywhere," Stede warns in the softest way possible.
"Not that I can if I wanted to," you sigh and watch him walk away.
♡♡♡
The Republic of Pirates. Not as fearsome as it once was, but still the place to be for information and goods. Stede was fascinated by the place. In fact, he seemed to be having a good time.
"Man for sale!"
Lucius, who had been having less of a good time, was keeping an eye on everyone who passed them. He seemed stressed.
"You look like you're having a hard time," you say to the boy.
"A little bit. Not that it matters. I just want to get away from this god awful place."
You chuckles softly.
"Hey, are you going to sell me too? I'd rather you didn't. You could just let me go and I won't try and steal from you again!" You say, turning to Stede.
"Absolutely not. I'm not stupid enough to fall for that. I'm sure I can do something with you." Stede nods at himself proudly.
"No one is gonna want to buy me. Not even my old crew would pay for me."
"You old crew?" Stede looks at you curiously.
"Yeah. I'm a pirate, pirates usually have a crew."
"Where are they now?"
"I don't know. I've been separated from them for a good few years. But I hear rumours they're thriving."
Stede is curious about this information, but before he can ask any more, a pirate turns around and sizes him up.
"One piece of silver's my bid," the man safe in a gruff voice. "So, so I get all three of he's, or...?"
"No, only one us is for sale," Stede clarifies with a friendly attitude.
"Mm, so the other two watch, or...?"
Lucius leans into Stede and says, "He thinks you're a prostitute."
"I'm not a prostitute, mate!" Stede declares, flabbergasted at the thought.
"Oh, we could've made magic." The man walks away.
"Unbelievable. Do we look like prostitutes to you?"
You chuckle. "Not terribly successful ones."
Stede frowns and marches on, pulling you with him.
Coming across Spanish Jackie's bar gave you a slither of hope. Coming to this sile was your best bet of finding someone you recognize. You would give them all the coin you have to have them free you from Stede Bonnet.
You had to find your old crew. You had to.
With Jim already disappearing inside, Stede followed suit. You didn't bother questioning why Olu was so tense about Jim going into the bar. Your only focus was escape.
"OK, like we rehearsed," Stede tells Lucius.
You roll your eyes. What was with this guy?
"Hear ye, hear ye!" Lucius begins.
Everyone turns to look at him. "Oh fuck," he mutters softly. "Please join me in welcoming for his regional debut... The Brigand of Barbados... the Cream of the Caribbean... The Gentleman Pirate."
With that, Stede steps out with you in tow. Never before have you ever wanted the ground to just swallow you whole.
"Hi, all. Nice to be here. I may be land of gentry, but I'm thrilled to be granted entry."
No one in the tavern says a thing.
"Well, the drinks are on us." Stede declares.
With that, someone throws their drink at Lucius and he gets frustrated again.
"The drinks be on ye now!" The tavern erupts into laughter.
You are promptly locked up by the entrance of the bar with the navy man. You sigh as you watch Stede walk toward the bar.
"I know you, don't I?" The Englishman says, looking at you. He has definitely seen better days.
"Maybe. If you know your pirates."
He takes a step away from you. You chuckle. So he does know you.
"Spirit of the sea," he mutters, almost scoffing at the thought.
"Ya know, to be a spirit, you have to die," you say to him.
"Well, yes. I know that..." You chuckle at how nervous he sounds.
"You afraid of me?"
"No..." He shakes his vigorously, his wig falling further back off his head.
"Relax, my guy. Blackbeard thinks I'm dead after what happened. I'm just a ghost now, well, to them."
"No one is looking for you?"
You guy him a silent flat look. He seems to get the message and backs down. Clearly you're not in the mood to talk about this.
Having been busy talking to the guy, you had failed to see who had entered the bar. He had also not noticed you.
♡♡♡
Izzy's orders were to follow Stede. He didn't have a fucking clue why. Orders were orders and he would do anything for Blackbeard. Upon entering the Republic of Pirates, Izzy swore under his breath.
He had lost sight of Stede Bonnet, but he would find him easily.
That's how he ended up at Jackie's. He hated this place, but he was right to go in. Stede fucking Bonnet was in there in all his flimsy glory.
Izzy casually slides up to the bar as Stede tries to order wine. Instead he choose a glass of the liquid in front of him, upon finding out it was blood that was covering Lucius' clothes.
Both of them drink the liquid and Izzy has to hold back from laughing.
"Mm, it's nutty. What do you call this?" Stede asks the bartender.
"It's juice from the nose jar." Both Stede and Lucius react to that. "Jackie's been collecting them for years. You misbehave... you end up in here."
Both of them gag.
"I've a few colleagues in there."
"You again!" Stede looks less than impressed to see him.
"Mr Hands, welcome," Geraldo greets. "It's been a while."
"Yeah, because I hate this fucking place. But for some inexplicable reason, my boss would like a word with you, Bonnet."
"Yes, well, everyone wants a piece of the Gentleman Pirate." Stede holds his head up high for that. "Get in line. I'm very sorry to have to tell you this, Iggy..."
"Izzy! " He growls.
"Whatever. I don't care... but we're busy at the moment, fencing our remaining hostages."
It didn't click to Izzy that Stede had more than one hostage still after their last meeting. He honestly couldn't care about this prick and what he was doing.
"So I'll tell my captain that you're declining, then, yeah?" Izzy confirms.
"Or tell him he's got terrible taste in flunkies and he can go suck eggs in hell."
Izzy leans in and speaks softly. "Gladly."
♡♡♡
You turn back to face the bar, leaning against the bars that trap you from the rest of the pirates. A sigh escapes your lips.
"May I ask?" The man behind you speaks up again. "Where have you been all this time if everyone thinks you're dead?"
He obviously has questions despite you making a point you didn't want to talk about it.
"Just around. Blackbeard spends most of his time at sea. Finding him on my own isn't easy. God, it's been like 6 years since then..."
"Yes, I remember hearing about it. He set a ship alight."
"I was still onboard. He didn't know that. The ship went down, I managed to leap off, but it was dark, foggy, and a storm was rolling in. I had no chance of ever swimming back to The Queen Anne. I don't blame them for thinking I was dead... I just wish there was a way to tell them I'm still alive."
The man looks at you from where he leans on the wall.
"Why the fuck am I telling you my life story all of a sudden?" You scoff. "I'm going soft... spent too long on Bonnet's ship."
"I'll be damned."
"You kind of are," you say to him.
"Israel Hands."
You have never looked up so fast. A name you hadn't heard in years. The Englishman was right. Leaving the tavern right in front of your eyes was Izzy. Your Izzy!
"Izzy? Izzy! Hey Izzy, it's me!" You call out.
He doesn't hear you.
Or so you think.
Izzy freezes just out of sight, at the top of the stairs. He could have sworn he heard your voice, but that's impossible. He takes a deep breath and shakes his head, marching on. He has a job to do, be can't be distracted by ghosts.
You're dead, and there is nothing he can do about it.
It's getting worse if he hears your voice now...
♡♡♡
"SHIT. I have to get out of here!" You shake the bars urgently.
You don't care that a bar fight is breaking out. You just saw Izzy Hands after years of being away from him and you're trapped! Life couldn't get any more cruel. If only he had heard you.
"Fuck this!" You kick the bars, but regret it as pain shoots up your leg. Jackie really made these bars for no escape.
When Jackie holds a knife up to Stede, you catch wind of their conversation.
Blackbeard wants to talk to Stede!
You are filled with hope. This was your shot. Your shot to return to your family at sea. Your shot to make it up to Izzy for being gone so long.
You and the Englishman are let out as Stede and Lucius flee the bar.
"Stede!" You call out to him. "Listen you have to meet with Blackbeard. Take me too!"
Stede doesn't listen to you.
Before reaching the port, Gelrado appears saving Stede from one of the many creepy people on this island. Apparently he has a proposition for Stede. A deal that needs to be made, but only by a man of Stede's position.
You try one more time. "Please, just let me go and you never have to see me again. It's so important I go now!"
Stede doesn't pay you any mind as he takes Gelrado up on his offer.
It's almost enough to make you cry in frustration.
Izzy... God, you missed that bastard.
He has no idea you were right there. It's killing you from the inside.

Totally agree with your response that Skibidi Episode 59 felt like the official return of the Titan Speakerman. He kinda cast off the sadness and anger from before and started working as a team player again. That comic of yours was absolutely beautiful and emotional! It also fit so well as much of the fandom (including myself) we’re under the impression the Speakerman were going extinct, and it seemed the TSM believed so as well. Amazing work!
TSM is probably my favorite character (right next to Titan Camera Boi) and he’s had some of the best moments. I guess I just loved the shorts version of 57 because the very slow reprise of “Everybody…” totally gave me chills. To jump onto what you were saying, the dramatic moment of his stupid yellow light turning bright red again and seeing him slowly look up was amazing! The episode was a really rollercoaster and it ended with their first real win against the G-Toilet.
Also gotta give props to episode 58. Seeing how overwhelmed the Alliance was and how desperate their situation became in the region… only for Big Speaker Boi to now be back for revenge! Again, chills. Again I’m totally in it for the “Everybody” theme in the shorts version so seeing what he was capable FOR his friends was sick with that blasting out again as their war cry. When I actually saw it the first time and I was amazed, but when he got surrounded by all the helicopter toilets I actually thought he was planning on dying right there and got worried. The break in the music, the puff of smoke… all made it seem like he was just in for revenge but then was gonna let himself get killed. All of this to be immediately followed with the “WE WILL FIND YOU” in the song before saving all the cameramen… ughhh. So good. There’s a comic worthy idea in my mind.
Sorry for the long spiel lmao. Speakerboi deserves so much!
This was so much fun to read
I'm happy you liked the comic!
The speaker's song is so dang epic, it just makes episodes feel awesome
58 was fun. Go rage speaker boi, you deserve it.
My fav atm is Titan Cam since recent episodes focused on him but Titan Speak was my fav first and I still like him lots
Thanks for taking the time to write this :D

So, I’ve been a Transformers Prime fan for...years. I started watching the show before the season 1 finale came out. But I did watch it out of order. I started with episode 13. The one where Optimus got sick with Cybonic Plague.
Besides that, my favorite episode out of the entire Transformers Prime franchise is Flying Mind, because of just how fucking bonkers it is. I watched this show on the Hub, BTW, so I made an effort to watch it on a weekly basis when I came home from school. The rollercoaster that episode was.
It starts off with the Nemesis (Megatron’s ship aka Trypticon) crash landing after Bulkhead destroyed the engine to escape the ship, which he ended up on by accident, and this was after the two failed assassination attempts on Megatron’s life. So, Megatron, being Megatron, puts dark energon in the ship to repair it, and it works. Optimus and the others try to use the spark extractor to kill Megatron, but they get hit with a stasis beam. You think that the Autobots are done for!
But then the ship moves away. It disobeys commands typed into the system. It electrocutes and kills a vehicon. The Decepticons are floored, and then the SHIP FUCKING SPEAKS!!!!!!
(Full disclosure. At that time I wasn’t aware of the Aligned continuities. So I didn’t know that the Nemesis was actually the corpse of a Decepticon called Trypticon. So when the ship spoke, I was literally WTF.)
So Megatron does his spiel or whatever, and then Soundwave goes down-! SOUNDWAVE GOES DOWN! The ship murks Soundwave! Do you know how hard it is to murk Soundwave?! Are you serious?! What is everyone else going to do?!
Meanwhile, Ratchet and the kids are trying to help the Autobots, and the kids MAKE THE SUGGESTION TO CALL MEGATRON AND ASK WHAT’S GOING ON! Because what else are they supposed to do?! The ship ends up speaking, saying it wants to collect Iacon Relics, even though it doesn’t specify why. The kids and Fowler think it’s a good idea to go on the ship and get the Iacon database because the ship can’t see them.
As they’re doing that, the ship is going to destroy Manhattan to get a relic, so now they gotta save a city! And it’s three teens fighting a ship because Agent Fowler got knocked out again! And the humans win! And now it’s a race against the clock to get the four Iacon relics decoded by the ship in the next four episodes!
Like this episode was so batshit, that it cemented itself as my favorite!

THIS WAS A CUTE AND ADORABLE AND EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER! LIKE, OH MY GAWD! and then they added a cute mute demon! (and he wanted to be just like him.)
Tumblr media
(he doesnt have a name... yet, so im gonna name him toku. long for "tokubetsuna kodomo" which means "special kid" in japanese. i wouldve gone with "Hātobureikā" which means "heartbreaker" in japanese, because, he just broke my heart... and not in a bad way.)

courtney & duncney coded: the tortured poets department edition
track 5. So Long, London
Look, I have been a crazed person about feeing that this song is Duncney coded. I've big brained this okay, like no, no one is from London like Taylor is saying, but, BUT! But in World Tour, London was right before Greece. London was the beginning of the end! Like it was the last moment of duncney being “okay” (in duncney terms, because let be real they are a mess, they’re up and down like a rollercoaster. But until the end of the London episode into Greece, there’s no big idea that either of them would be like this time is it, it’s totally over. Shit, Duncan even hugged her after she yelled like they were okay, why do that if you're not, tell her it's over, not important right now).
I have been around this song like a mad man like I’m a duncney stan but I can admit that a fundamental change was needed. We all know they are two broken teenagers in a messy on again, off again and serious (emotional) work needs to be made for any long term relationship to last (and to be better healed people, but that’s beside the point). I can see this song being an aftermath of sorts with Courtney being like I loved him, but I can recognize that we were broken in this and had been holding on desperately to something (the beginning relationship feeling for one) that wasn’t going to just bounce back.
Let's look at some lyrics:
“I stopped trying to make him laugh, stopped trying to drill the safe.”
This line is just giving up, going through the motions, ending up in the same place anyway. Super duncney. Also, gotta love any duncney coded songs that have a crime reference
“I stopped CPR, after all it’s no use. The spirit was gone, we would never come to.”
Everything in my above rant, all this. It's dead, but just still fight for something that is beyond bringing back.
“You swore that you loved me, but where are the clues? I died on the altar waiting for the proof.”
This could go for either one of them. Like they have been broken down time and time again by being on the show, the betrayals, the competition, all of it. And it just gets to that point where there's so many things to show that they don't care, where are the signs of love? (we could also get into how they both want those signs, but would also both push each other in a way to not show it cause they both don't want to be perceived as weak or anything).
There are soooo many more lyrics in this song, but I can’t be quoting the whole damn thing, listen to it and join my crazed hell!

I am now all caught up, and I gotta say. Amazing. Show-stopping. Incredible. Studio Trigger has once again rewired my brain and I cannot let this go. Cannot wait for the next episode, however, that rollercoaster of emotions must wait after the horror that is Baron from the Baronies.
Anyway. Ten outta ten, I will now knock myself out and finally get some sleep.

Completed watching Season 1 of Kimi no todoke
And I gotta tell you
The welling up of emotions that I felt from watching this anime, it was like, when I'm on a rollercoaster and it's going so so so fast and I feel like my heart's gonna burst away, it gave me that kinda feeling.
It made me smile and root for our girl Kuronuma.
And my favourite part within this anime is when something so obvious is pointed out, but the thing is you only get it when it's pointed out, for eg : when Kuronuma understands that by talking to them, her feelings will reach them, so she has to talk to them to make the misunderstandings go away
Her understanding of these things, slowly and steadily, makes me realise how in life, I usually don't communicate my feelings to people
It's easier to say I'm bad at expressing gratitude, because when someone does something for me, I feel an overwhelming sense of a positive emotion, and it's difficult for me to express that feeling by just thanking someone in an awkward stature, so I usually don't say anything. But it's important for me to express it, and learn to express things properly, not just gratitude, but also general communication. I always feel like I'm either intimidating or invisible, and people don't approach me, but I've never taken a part to improve that. So i'mma do that, and I'm also going to be a better person, I'm going to keep driving towards it.
My point was, that sometimes it's good to have a reminder of the most obvious things, so I'm here to remind anyone who's reading this, that reach out to people, and communicate your feelings. If there's a misunderstanding, talk to someone and they'll understand. Don't assume and sit with silence and solace. Express. And keep on expressing.
I also like how when Kurumi likes Shota and does what she does, the way Sawako deals with it, I have so much genuine respect and admiration for her honesty and the way she dealt with it, I know the character's portrayal is of trusting everyone and such, but sometimes I like it. I wish the real world could be such that we could trust people on their words and not question if they meant it or not. But yes, I loved the way Sawako was honest about not being able to support her rather than going along with it. It felt good. I also loved that she never saw her as an enemy, but rather just someone who likes the person she likes too, yes, she envied her a little, but she never really carried any hate. And it was just really sweet.
I also love how Sawako slowly unravels her feelings, sometimes I think things are rushed within the real world and the modern world is all about fast pacing, but the way Sawako ensures her feelings, and if she feels this way about Shota or everyone else, and her small steps towards figuring her own emotions out, and her being honest about her feelings and not brushing them off. I find that extremely beautiful. These feelings that she gave time and patience to understand, and nourish, I feel like it's what we should all be doing.
I also loved the part where Kuronuma looks up the term Rival in the dictionary and it translates to 'Likable Foe'
I also love love loved the part of Chizu and Toru and Ryu, that whole episode where Toru comes by to visit Chizu because Ryu called him, and the way things process down and the bond, it was very sweet and heartwarming.
And Shota as a character is just really really warm, and his nature, is very very kind. Manifesting a person like him for all of us, because sometimes all you need, is a person like him to give you a supportive push towards acceptance and understanding. A little support comes a long way, and I hope we can be that person and have such people in our lives.
I want to see more of Ayane, SHE MAKES ME LAUGH TOO MUCH, and she's so smart. I love it. I want to see how her story unravels in Season 2
I also find Pin very funny lol. That part of Kurume, and the part where he's just normally sick but calls Kuronuma because he thinks she is an exorcist was WAY TOO FUNNY lol
I actually would've written this post after completing the whole anime but my heart can't take it fr, it's too much. I feel so many warm and happy emotions, I feel like it'll explode. So idk if I'll watch season 2 anytime soon. Heart feels too much you know?
I'm supposed to be completing this one long anime, but I've taken a smol break since a few things happened and I've been watching short anime because I don't want to watch that one when I'm feeling down. I'm feeling better now so maybe I'll start watching it again. But I guess I'm just a little not ready for me to complete that anime or reach it's ongoing schedule.

anyway do you think Green sent the truent officer after the gang because he heard Oh. a bunch of green teenagers. one of ems gotta be my kid
BECAUSE LIKE the gang was found by Jack Wednesday at the arcade right they have no clue they live at the dump, the government doesn't anyway, they wouldn't really, I guess know or care to send somebody? ok I'm just saying maybe Green was asking for some favors
OHH…INTERESTING I HADN’T THOUGHT OF THAT
Yeah they have no government papers or documentation or anything like that aside from whatever would be leftover & outdated in the foster system files (prob buried in a drawer that hasn’t been touched in 4 years)… EXCEPT for police reports & arrest records. They wrack up a LOT of those. And probably in Wednesday’s case he had new papers made up for them so they could attend school, although I imagine a lot of basic info is missing due to no one having any of their papers on them.
Assuming Mr Green lives in Townsville/relatively close by, I wonder if the first time he heard of/saw Ace would have been on a local news report. They’ve been mentioned on the news in canon at least once for some kind of crime they did WITH their picture shown. Imagine you’re Mr Green sitting down to eat dinner, watching the 6:00 news, gettin all cozy. All of a sudden this kid who looks JUST like you & your ex, who’s the same age your missing kid would be, flashes on the screen because he got arrested for tipping porta potties. Imagine the rollercoaster of “Holy fuck he looks just like my kid….holy fuck that HAS TO BE MY KID! holy fuck my kid is in a GANG? holy fuck my kid is…doing stupid shit oh my god I need to find him” 😭 Being a substitute teacher I’d assume he’d have Wednesday on speed dial (perhaps even for this exact moment) and immediately be like “WEDNESDAY GO FIND THOSE KIDS ONE OF THEM IS MINE. ENROLL THEM I’LL BE THERE ASAP”. Wednesday manages to get info from the cops to Mr Green and is like…I’ll do my best but first you’ll need to sit down for this one bud.
The gang gets in and out of trouble all the time; the trouble is annoying enough for them to wind up in jail but nonviolent enough for the govt to be like “meh whatever let the girls deal with em if they think they need to. we gotta worry more about mojo or HIM etc”. So ur right they don’t seem to seek the gang out and the gang sure as hell keeps their location off the radar just in case
They’re a Very slippery bunch who are difficult to catch and keep in one place for long. The second they’re released from jail they take off. When that old lady Bought Them Bound In Rope they somehow (thankfully) got the hell outta there. And as we know at the end of Schoolhouse Rocked, Wednesday takes the gang away but he’s never seen again & the gang is back to their regular activities in the rest of the episodes 😞 Wednesday prob tried his best to keep them wrangled for Mr Green but I can assume they did their usual & escaped without a trace before Mr Green could meet them. He’s prob crushed bc not only is it like losing his kid all over again, but now he knows there’s a strong chance that his kid IS a horridly suffering teenager with a track record, and he has no way to help him. He has no idea how to find Ace but also feels a lot of anxiety about facing him, because he blames himself for Ace’s suffering :(

buncha words bout some spring animes #5
Now that I'm a Serious and Employed Person I appreciate series like Skip and Loafer or SpyFam even more. There's nothing better than coming back home and relaxing with some cute and funny anime. It may well be that if I rewatched some older series which I'd dropped or skipped altogether because they seemed boring, I would actually like them much more now. Well, for now let's stick to spring shows. Enjoy!
The Witch from Mercury (season 2, ep. 1-3) - one more week and I'll finally catch up to GWitch. These first three episodes were a real rollercoaster - we started with a pretty chill one, just reestablishing the characters and plot for the second cour. AND THEN! Episode two was wild. I gotta say, what's really amazing about the writing in this series is how it keeps introducing asshole characters, only to make you feel sorry for them after just a couple of episodes. And it actually works, I really care about these guys. I want to believe they're going to be alright... I don't know how dark Gundam endings usually are, but I get a feeling it's better to expect the worst and get a nice surprise, instead of the other way around.
Oshi no Ko (ep. 6) - yeah, yeah, I've watched another one. I planned to give it one last chance before dropping it but then Oshi no Ko had the gall to drop the best episode since the prologue. I still have some issues with it but I think it did a great job characterising Akane (and Yuki, too), making her relatable and sympathetic. What helped a lot was that Aqua was barely present in this one. You know what guys, I don't think I like Aqua very much. Which is a shame, because acting and film stuff in this series interests me more than idol stuff. Methinks I should look for some anime/manga about acting.
Skip and Loafer (ep. 7) - The highlight of this episode was seeing the drama club pres guy actually doing something decent for a change. And of course we have a brand new character introduced in the last minutes of the episode. I guess she's either Shima's family or one of the people he met when he was an actor. I wonder how will this plot develop and how will this person be neutralised by Mitsumi. Or hey, maybe she won't be! There are some people with whom you just don't get along, and I don't see that a lot in anime, I don't think.
Heavenly Delusion (ep. 6-7) - We got less school and more Maru and Kiruko's adventures, I'm definitely fine with that. Episode 6 had some great jokes, faces and cuts of animation, and episode 7 on the other hand got really disturbing towards the end. I like how this series treats the characters' sexuality (so far) - I mean, they're kids, they're figuring things out, and it's presented with honesty you don't often see. These episodes were also a bit thinner on plot elements and mysteries, but I liked that. I guess it could be a breather before what comes next.
Hell's Paradise (ep. 7) - Last week I speculated, that something major was going to happen this episode. That... turned out to be wrong, more or less. We now know a little bit more about the island and the elixir of life, but the majority of the episode was devoted to lighter character moments. So now I don't even know what I should expect next week. To be honest Jigokuraku is also close to falling off my watchlist but I'll give it one more chance.
Insomniacs after school (ep. 4-6) - Aaaand I caught up to Insomniacs. I think it's growing on me - the side characters were nicely fleshed out in the recent episodes and the relationship between the two leads is cute (not my top ship of the season, but they're nice kids!). Am I really going to watch another romance series this season? I almost never watch them!
I skipped Yamada-kun this week, but I'm definitely coming back to it next time. And finally:
Spy x Family (ep. 10-12) - Ok, two things: 1) Bill Watkins (6) was even better than whatever I was picturing before watching the episode and the whole game of dodgeball was a riot. 2) And then episode 11 had some brilliant Anya Starlight Anya moments. I can't wait to see the pupper. Thankfully I don't have to wait three months, I can jump right in the second cour. Episode 12 was kind of a weak follow-up to the two preceding episodes and a weird finale to the whole season, but the penguins were cute. So really, it's impossible to say if it was good or bad.
And that's it from me! Thanks so much for reading, have a great week and see you next Saturday!

{Masterlist}
{Next Chapter}
Notes: This chapter is mostly just plot from episode 2 to get the story going. Every story has to start somewhere.
Chapter One - Ghost stories
♡♡♡
Izzy was looking down at the sight before him. To think someone was capable of running a ship aground was incomprehensible. No good sailor was capable of that mistake. It flagged up in his mind that this man was a fool.
"This lot managed to take English officers hostage?"
"Word is, yeah. Spotted 'em deck before they ran aground," Ivan says.
"Those hostages will fetch a pretty penny," Izzy muses.
He wanted a closer look.
Izzy, Ivan, and Fang all head down to the beach where most of this silly little crew were passing their time.
"Hello friend." Izzy calls out the man sitting on the rocks.
"I thought this isle were deserted." Buttons looks at the three men with suspicion.
"It is, mostly. We're merely humble wanderers passing through." Izzy keeps his eyes on him. "Is it just you then... in your party?"
"We've three more in a bush, plus a couple of hostages. You're not ghosts, are ye?" Buttons asks them.
Ghosts. Izzy found the word almost funny, not that he gave that away. He was no stranger to ghost stories. No, he was living and breathing. As real as day. His ghosts lay in the past.
Izzy led his men further onto the island. Those hostages were valuable. Getting them was easy. Izzy simply bought them. Stede and his men has been captured by the people that live here. Izzy simply bought the hostages from the tribe and walked away with them.
As far as Izzy could see it, there wasn't much point in investigating Stede further for now. The man had run his ship aground, got caught, and now lost his hostages all before the day was over.
Didn't seem like much of a threat.
♡♡♡
Upon realising his hostages had been taken, Stede felt himself fall apart a little bit. Yeah, he wasn't a very good pirate, but he was trying.
"Just call it, old chump. You're in over your head. You crash the boat, you lose the hostages. It's just... It's all so... pathetic."
Badminton, who was haunting Stede after be killed by him... kind of, was mocking him.
All his life Stede was mocked and downgraded. Always talked down upon as if he could amount to nothing.
Not this time. He wouldn't let them win.
"I am adequate." Stede marched forward.
"I'm sorry?" Oluwande asked.
"I said, let's get our damned men back. The hostages, I mean."
Pete and Olu nod and agree with him, following him back into the tree line.
♡♡♡
Stede crouched down hidden from view. Pete and Olu on either side of him. Through the trees they could see three men in black with their hostages.
"Who the hell are those guys?" Stede asks quietly.
"I don't know, but they look much tougher than us." Olu replies.
"Tougher then you, maybe," Pete scoffs.
"Oh ok. Why don't you go down there and confront them then, big man. The strongest out of us."
"Enough! Shh, guys. OK, here's the plan."
Stede goes quiet.
"What is it then?" Olu asks.
"Mm?"
"The plan."
"Oh, uh, shh, it's coming," Stede tells him.
Another moment of silence and then Stede gets an idea.
"A diversion... OK? A diversion, it's what we need to do."
"Yeah... yeah, but you said 'I've got a plan,' as if you... You gotta just go with it." Olu sighs.
Stede shushes him.
"I have a plan!"
Stede's plan came in the form of a ghost story. One he had heard about before taking to the seas.
♡♡♡
"Release us now, and I'll ensure you're spared a painful death at the hands of our king." The Englishman said, attempting a go to get free from this man.
"Ooh, what say you, Fang?" Izzy asks.
Fang chuckles and pushes the man forward. "I'm your king now, bitch." The English falls to the ground.
Stede jumps out of the bushes.
"Good day, gents." Stede, looking as feral as he could possibly be looking right now with a knife in his hand, begins his diversion. "I believe we have dibs on those men."
Izzy looks back at the hostage behind him curiously and then back at Stede. "Dibs, you say?"
"Yes. So, please, hand them over. Quick as you can. Oh, and by the way, I will not be trifled with, so don't even think about trifling me."
Izzy looked at this strange man with amusement. He starts to walk forward.
"You're trifling me. I'm warning you. Don't trifle. Don't you trifle."
Izzy draws his sword and slices it several time. Stede is caught off guard. When Izzy is done, Stede is amazed not to feel a single sting. Izzy had torn up his shirt and had not left a scratch on Stede.
That was some impressive swordsman skills.
"You're quite skilled." Stede says, even though the other man has his sword pointing right at him.
"This is how you die."
In that moment there was some high pitched whaling sound coming from the trees.
"Do you hear that?" Stede asks.
"This is the spirit of the seas!" A voice calls out. Izzy frowns.
"I didn't know this island was haunted."
"It's obviously one of your men," Izzy states, unimpressed.
"But is it?"
"Yes, it is."
"But is it?" Stede whispers.
"Ivan!" Izzy yells.
"Oi, the spirit of the seas haunts the seas! Not islands." Ivan calls out. He immediately gets hit in the face with a rock and falls backward, his face bleeding.
Pete swings from the trees and collides into Fang. Stede uses the distraction to move and point his knife into Izzy's cheek.
"I've already ruined one man's head this week, and believe me, I'll do it again." Stede keeps his eye on Izzy.
"Believe him. He's quite insane." One of the hostages speaks up.
"He does have the eyes of a madman," the other says.
"What are your demands?" Izzy asks.
"Well, I was thinking a compromise," Stede says.
"I'm listening."
"Well, uh... we'd be willing to give up one of the men, if that would prevent further bloodshed."
Ivan moans about his nose, convinced it's broken.
"Oh, and by the way, you are completely surrounded. My entire crew... is just beyond these trees." Stede looks around them and then calls out, "Upon my signal, unleash hell!"
"Fine," Izzy growls. He's already fed up with this fool. Stede lowers his knife.
They exchange the hostage. One each.
"There's always another way to resolve things, isn't there?" Stede says, looking at the other man. "Stede Bonnet. Pirate Captain."
"Izzy Hands." Izzy stares at him. "This isn't over, Mr Bonnet."
"Good," Stede says, backing up slowly. "Cos I kind of enjoyed it."
Izzy watched Stede and his men run off.
"Pirates, my arse."
Ivan and Fang take their hostage back toward the trees. Izzy stands still for a moment, his jaw clenched.
Hearing 'Spirit of the sea' turned his stomach. How dare they use you for their pathetic little show. Your soul deserves to rest in peace, not be used by some wannabe pirate pansy.
Ivan and Fang head first toward the shore. Izzy stayed behind a moment. He took a moment to take out the ring he wore around his neck, letting it sit on his bare palm for a moment. He stared at it in silence.
He would give anything to have you beside him again. You're meant to be here with him.
Izzy clutches the ring tight in his hand and almost growls in frustration. He puts the ring away and marches on, heading to the shore.

No-one Fucks With The Lobos - Chapter 17
AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/48070186/chapters/122437882
Or read under the cut!
Teddy’s ups and downs grew longer and longer as his brain chemistry altered. I tried to do what I could, but the tiny bit of cocaine I’d kept for microdosing him was gone, and I was stuck. During one episode where Teddy was really, really low, I couldn’t take it anymore.
I’d had to hand the knives, scissors, and anything else sharp enough to cut skin over to Teddy’s head guy, Matthias, who took them with him. And then, I’d had to do the same with the fucking bedsheets, because my darling man decided to try to hang himself with them. All the doors locked, everything out of reach… It was exhausting, constantly having to watch him. I even had to watch him go for a pee because he’d decided he could just drown himself in the tub. Matthias, a huge, hulking guy, and another guy called James, had had to break the bathroom door down. Thankfully, Teddy’s autopilot kicked in, and his head shot up above the water just before the lads managed to get to him. But my nerves were shot.
“Just give him cocaine again, (Y/N),” Matthias said, as I wrapped Teddy in a towel.
“No. He’s come too far in this to back down now.” I licked my lips. “It’ll pass, and he’ll be alright. It’s only been a month since he quit it.” I put Teddy in the bedroom, and stepped outside with the boys. “Do… do you have any, actually? To microdose him? When he gets really bad like this, I usually slip a tiny bit in him just to take the edge off…”
“No. We don’t carry it anymore. The boss says we’re not to, since the Five Families have started making moves again. Teddy needs to get his head back on before it all goes tits up.” James’s tone was a little meaner than I’d have liked.
“Alright.” I sighed. “Can you get me some?”
“No.” Matthias folded his arms. “The boss won’t let us take any of it out on the road. Unless it’s personal use, but she knows neither of us take it.”
“For fuck’s sake,” I groaned. “Alright. Fine.”
“We gotta go, (Y/N),” Matthias sighed. “Call us if he dips again.”
“So you can do what, exactly? Stand around and be useless?” I shook my head as James and Matthias left. They’d been patient enough while Teddy had been going through withdrawal. In fact, they’d helped me to figure out how long the depressive episodes would take, since they’d known how long Teddy had been on cocaine, and how much of it he usually took. But outside of that, they’d made it clear they wanted something to do that wasn’t actually babysitting. I couldn’t be angry with them. So, I did what I do best.
I ran after them.
“Hey! Hey, guys,” I called down the hallway, jogging to catch up to them. “Guys… I’m sorry. I was a dick. You’ve both been amazing while Teddy’s been rollercoastering… it means a lot. I’m tired and cranky and I shouldn’t have taken it out on you.”
“S’alright, (Y/N),” Matthias smiled. “We’re just bored. And we’re watching the others start stalking around the place, too. We miss Teddy being on form.”
“I’ll get him back up there, don’t worry.” I said that more to try to convince myself than the two men. But then appreciated it.
“If you need anything, call us.”
Teddy slept most of the day when he was low. It broke my heart, but I did go snooping around in his office to pass the time, since there’s only so much on Netflix and Amazon Prime and Roku that you can watch before boredom eats your brain. And my police brain needed to be itched, now I was working at full capacity again. I made a coffee, and went into the office, keeping the door open so I could listen for any activity from Teddy. Not that I cared if he came in or not; his business was mine, now. And if I was going to pull him out of the depths of crime he was in, then I needed to know everything. I turned on the computer, putting my coffee down. Of course it was a huge Apple Mac. I don’t know why I’d imagined Teddy would ever use Windows.
Teddy fucking Lobo had an Apple ID. [email protected]. It made me smile, for some reason. Of course, he had an Apple ID. We regularly watched AppleTV together in the evenings. And he had an iPhone, an Apple Watch, and an iPad too. Made sense that he’d need an Apple ID for those things. But seeing it written out like that, already typed in…
But I needed a password. Fuck.
I went back to the living room, where Teddy was curled up on the sofa, sleeping peacefully.
“Teddy?” I murmured, sitting beside him. I kissed his temple. “Teddy, darling?”
“Mmm,” he murmured, waking just enough.
“What’s the password for your computer?”
“What?” His eyes were barely open, a hand on my thigh.
“What’s the password for your computer?”
“Oh…” he yawned deeply. “Lobo88. Capital L.” He nestled back down, and I stroked his hair back. He wasn’t burning up, which was good. I kissed him again.
“Thanks, baby.”
“Mmm.”
Lobo88. Such a basic password. I could have guessed that by myself… I left him sleeping, returning to the office. The password worked perfectly, and I was in! I opened up the Documents window, and was met with a series of folders, all named and dated within the last ten years. I took a moment to look around the desktop, before I got overwhelmed so much by that list of files. Photos. I clicked there, instead.
Endless streams of photos, of Teddy and his boys, and some with girls who were clearly just there for a good time… some of his family, at different events – holidays, birthday parties, graduations… one of Teddy and a woman, much younger than he was today, quite obviously in love. And despite everything, a jealousy rose up inside me. Who was she?! I made a mental note to ask Teddy about her when he felt better.
Photos aside, I returned my attention to the documents tab again. Endless files, this time, but I wanted to learn somewhat chronologically. So, I started from the oldest.
I learned that Teddy had a number of things under his control: drugs (distribution, mainly), money (protection, drug sales, weapons deals), personnel (which gave very little except for a list of names and salaries in an Excel sheet), and intel.
The distribution and sale of drugs was the Lobo family’s bread and butter. The guaranteed money-spinner, they pushed thousands of kilos of the stuff every single week, both in New Orleans and on a national scale, too. They had deals out-of-state, which Teddy handled in a gorgeously complex Excel sheet, linked – somehow – directly with his email inbox (which was sitting pretty at 1,298 unread) and a management app called ‘Todoist’. Everything linked together… and he did it all on fucking cocaine… I wondered if he’d be able to manage that alone when completely clean… I bit my lip, a little worried.
Distribution seemed to be a circular economy. Bellafrancesca, from what I could tell, worked as an umbrella or helicopter view, a birds-eye over the whole organisation. To give an example, she decided whether the family should start pushing goods to a new state. She gave the green light on import, quality control – all the big decisions. Then, Teddy went in and started doing the little bits to make it happen. That explained why he wanted her approval so much – he was literally doing the dogsbody stuff she didn’t want to do. Or, perhaps, she couldn’t do it. Ritchie Lobo had handled the minutiae of it all by using men he trusted. I guess those tasks had fallen to Teddy as part of his training. If Ritchie hadn’t died, Teddy would undoubtedly have a much less-weight-bearing seat at the table than he had now. He’d be learning how to take care of things just like Bellafrancesca was.
The financial side of things was a whole other ball-game. The Lobo accounting was officially done via an accountant, who was paid an eye-watering sum of cash to do it all in such a way that they paid as little tax as possible. I presume they used an offshore accounting system (I didn’t fully understand the numbers I was looking at), but for them to have so much cash to throw around, they had to have something working for them in that department. Their main source of income was drug money. Secondary? Surprisingly, houses. Estates. Rent income. Money that came from businesses and houses and apartment blocks they owned all over the city, but also much further afield, too – out of town. Old money, money that worked for itself and turned the Lobos a very sweet little profit that they put straight back into the flow of cash and assets. What scared me the most was the weapons dealing they seemed to do with people across the Mexican border. I knew from stories how volatile those kinds of deals could be. One of the notes I made for myself: Teddy does not attend those deals in person any longer. I couldn’t take the risk that he’d get shot. And if they did have to happen in person, it would have to be in New Orleans, where he would be safe.
In fact, literally anyone else could handle that side of things.
Teddy also enforced protection payment. His father’s personal racket, Teddy would show up to wherever he was needed, fire a few bullets, maybe take off a few heads… and get his money. That’s what he’d been doing the day he’d taken me.  Enforcing. Meaning the men in that restaurant, the owners, had been paying the Lobos to keep them safe… from who?!
That’s where the final prong came in. Intel.
I got up, moving back to the kitchen to make a second coffee and a sandwich, since hours had already passed on my research. I was buzzing with this new information, though. Teddy still slept. I checked on him, and decided that he could use some food, since he’d slept right through the socially-acceptable time to have breakfast.
I made him some tea, and a sandwich with a little bowl of fruit at the side, and made my way over to him, putting them on the coffee table with a litre of water.
“Teddy, baby? Wake up.” I shook him, and he curled up tighter. “I know, baby, but I need you to wake up for me, okay?” He did so, yawning deeply. His hair was an absolute mess, all puffy and sticking up wildly. I ran my hands through it, and he looked up at me. He looked like he’d been sleeping in the eighth level of hell. “Hey, love.”
“Hey,” he groaned, sitting up. “What time is it?”
“Don’t worry about that,” I smiled. “It’s been long enough that you need food and drink.” I handed him the water, and he drank a fair bit.
“I’m not hungry.” God, his tone broke my heart.
“I know, Teddy, but you have to eat something. Please?” I took the bottle from him and put it on the table, handing him the bowl of fruit. He started picking at the berries, and I stood up and got my own food and coffee. I sat beside him while we ate, watching him barely chew. He really didn’t want to eat anything… but he finished everything, and smiled at me half-heartedly. He did that for me. He survived every fucking day through his for me. I kissed him. “Thank you, Teddy.”
“What have you been doing?” he asked, reaching for his tea.
“Reading.” I smiled at him. “I’ll tell you more later on, when you’ve slept a bit more.”
“I could sleep for weeks, (Y/N),” he murmured. “It’s not nice.”
“Are you dreaming?”
“I can’t fucking remember them if I am.” He ran a hand through his hair. “I feel horrendous.”
“It’ll pass. You’re doing amazingly, Teddy.” I kissed him again, and he rested his head against my chest. “Do you want to go back to sleep?”
“No.” A deep yawn suggested otherwise. “Maybe a little bit.”
“Maybe a lot a bit,” I grinned. “Go on. I’m not bored, I promise.”
“I wanna fucking know what you’re doing, first,” he murmured, palming his eyes. He sipped his tea.
“Like I said, reading.” I chuckled.
“What?”
“My new job.” Teddy almost spat his mouthful of tea out.
“Wait… I didn’t dream you asked me for my password?” I shook my head. I knew, if he’d had the strength, Teddy would be laying into me right now. But instead, he threw me a weak glare. “Those are personal files.”
“Yeah, and I’ll be working by your side. And while you’re out of it, and your mother hates me…” I gave him a small smile. “I figured I’d make a head start on learning what it is you actually do. And Teddy… I actually hate that you’re so intelligent, yet the world thinks you’re a dim little boy.”
“Backhanded compliment?”
“No. Full compliment. The police force don’t stand a chance taking any of you down. You alone control such a huge expanse of all of this…” I put down my coffee and took his hand. “Teddy, you don’t even need your mother. She’s honorary at this point. Like a rubber-stamper. You’re already making –“
“Yeah, (Y/N), I know. I never actually doubted my own fucking role,” Teddy breathed. He took his hand away, curling back up. “I was good at my job. Now I can barely be fucked to lift a fucking fork.” He closed his eyes. “Enjoy your reading, you lying, two-faced… little…” he didn’t finish his insult. I shook my head and covered him with the blankets as sleep took him again.
Back to the office.
Back to the Intel folder.
The Five Families were an almost unionised set of families, similar to the Lobos, who were trying to find a niche where the Lobos had no sway. As much as Bellafrancesca liked to tout that they were not the richest (true; the Kennedys had millions towards the billions liquid), nor the biggest (again, true: the Masons had been a huge family of people), they did have power. And power translated very easily to size and money in their case.
There were of course five families: Kennedy, Mason, Delarentas, Santiago, and Maine. Since the Lobo Empire was so big, each family had come to an agreement with the others that they’d have one aspect, in the hopes of taking down the Lobos and then dividing it all up in as bloodless a way as possible (even though they all knew it would get very bloody the minute a Lobo wasn’t in charge).
The Kennedy family had money. They paid for information, and they paid well. Most of the time, they got paid too, by offering protection, usually from Lobo interference. The family was small and the head, Peter Kennedy, had a knack with Wall Street. Teddy had made a note: One bad investment, and he’s done. Teddy’s notes also included the guy who was inside the Kennedy family on their side, and the intel folder that they had on the Kennedys was enormous. Generally-speaking, given Peter’s knack for investments, Teddy usually toyed about with a small portion of Lobo money there too, and had made a healthy little retirement nest-egg for himself off the back of it. Poor Peter had no idea why the Lobos always seemed to be already in the businesses he’d planned to get into himself. No-one suspected that Teddy was a whizz with numbers, too.
The Mason family handled drugs and thefts. They stole a fuck-tonne of stuff and sold it on. In fact, they were responsible for stealing drugs one time, and two of their brothers went missing. If anyone needed something, the Masons could source it. Teddy’s guy in there didn’t feed too much back. The last note was ‘yawn, boring’. The Mason family was at the bottom of the tree, even though they could storm the streets by sheer numbers alone if they’d wanted to.
The Delarentas were import experts, and the quietest family of them all. In fact, Teddy had a rather tepid little deal with them, wherein they’d handle importing and exporting, and Teddy had let them have the practically the entire west quarter of the city. They weren’t policed, and the Lobos didn’t do business there out of respect. In return, the Delarentas amicably handled import and export of whatever the Lobos needed. The other families didn’t know much about it. Ritchie Lobo had set the deal up. Teddy had been respectful enough that they’d kept it alive for him.
The Santiago family handled people. They were glorified people traffickers. And the Lobos hated them. Teddy wanted them all wiped out, but they were like cockroaches, but well-liked, head-of-the-union cockroaches. And as such, Teddy and Bellafrancesca couldn’t do a thing to stop them without triggering a war with the other four families. The Santiagos were kings of kidnapping, too. If the Lobos ever stepped out of line, or started to look weak, their men would go missing. But Teddy’s mole on the inside had started feeding info back on the kidnappings and where they’d take place, and so Teddy was always one step ahead.
The fifth and final family were the Maines. They were weapons experts, and had a little monopoly on the weapons trade into and out of New Orleans. Of course, the Lobo market had far better quality guns, but the Maines were trying their hardest. And failing, mostly. The mole in their family usually gave Teddy the times and dates of imports and exchanges happening, giving him time to intercept them before they could even reach Maine hands. When they then sold those guns for a decent price onto the streets… the Maines were after blood.
I massaged my temples. The five families, and Teddy was playing them all. He had a beautifully elaborate game laid out, where the families had felt so threatened, they’d had to form a sort of union, almost like a criminal version of NATO. I shook my head. There was so much more to this than I’d ever thought possible. And if the police ever had this information, the crime in the city would literally disappear overnight.
I sat back. I didn’t want to be this person, who enforced shit and was okay knowing there was people trafficking happening. I wanted to do good in the world, make it a better place.
I created a new folder, and named it ‘New Lobo Era’. I created a Word document in there and started typing out a little plan I’d formed for myself.
VillaLobos Rescue Centre – a dog rescue sanctuary that could really use some cash injections and some good press. Maybe we can adopt a dog from them? Support them? Clean out some kennels? Walk the dogs? Encourage people to donate?
Loco Lobos – youth community centre where kids of all ages can go to be safe off the streets. Could organise youth trips to theme parks, or the cinema, picnics. Anything that would be fun for kids. Free wifi, facilities, food – real youth community hub.
Lobo Loft – change the name if you want to, but a homeless shelter aimed at getting people on the streets cleaned up (physically, substance-wise, and mentally) and then getting them on their feet with a place to stay, and a job.
Also, could offer cheap/free housing to those in need? Solve the housing crisis?
Feeding people, housing people, keeping people safe. And stick the Lobo branding on it so people love us, and the others won’t dare fucking touch us.
I was engrossed in my own plan, so much so that I didn’t hear Teddy coming until he walked into the office and made straight for me.
Irate. He was irate!
He stalked behind the desk and pulled me back. I’ve no idea where his strength came from, but he grabbed my throat and held me up.
“The fuck have you been doing, (Y/N)?” he breathed. I held up my hands.
“Reading your files,” I whispered. “All of them. Learning about the work you do and your whole world.”
“And typing what to fucking who?!”
“Making a plan of things I thought might be nice for us to add!” I whined. I gestured to the screen. Teddy moved me out of the way, sat down, and started to read. He shook his head and leaned forward, steepling his fingers.
“Charity work, basically.”
“Not for you to consider now, of course… but… whenever you’re ready for me to join you, Teddy… I want to put some of that drug money to better use for the community. Offset the crime a little bit.”
“Right…” he read my document again, then closed it. He leaned back in the chair, yawning. “Did you email your little fucking buddies at the precinct?” Paranoia.
“No, Teddy. You can even check for yourself.”
“Could have fucking deleted it –“
“From where?!”
I thanked God he wasn’t strong enough to actually beat my ass for his own paranoid thoughts. I pressed my lips together.
“I don’t fucking know. You’ve been in here all day. I don’t know what fucking time it is, and I’m so fucking tired!” his voice broke at the end, and I sagged.
“Alright… look. I’ll go out and get us some food, and you stay here and sleep a bit more, okay?” Teddy didn’t need to be told twice. He stood up, and trudged from the room. I heard the bedroom door slam shut. I picked up his phone and dialled Matthias’ number.
“(Y/N)?”
“Hey, Matty. Can you come over and look after Teddy for an hour? I need to go and see Bellafrancesca.”
“Oh, shit! Sure thing, half-pint. Be there in ten.”

The Starry Love ep 25, 26 thoughts
YOUQIN IS BACK. I don't need to say anything else...JUST KIDDING.
Fair warning though: Most of this LONG post is fawning over Youqin. Don't say I didn't warn you.
The beginning of ep 25 made me so tense. Girl, just tell them before things escalate--too late.
Gotta hand it to Qingheng. He knows how to end things with a bang! (evil smile) I love this.
MY EMOTIONS! This is the beginning of the end of the soul shard arc and I'm conflicted. I love these 3 and my heart breaks when they learn the truth. But then Youqin is going to come back. Let's get through these tears, guys! (reaches for a tissue)
Chaofeng and Qingkui really should just run away and start a family away from the Void realm. They could have the happy ending they freaking need. I can see that happening! Let's make it reality. P.s. Bring Haichou
Every time that guy with a moustache shows up: Aren't you supposed to be dead? Was that explained earlier?
The two baby-faced Immortals show up and this their backup? No. The true backup is the soul shards! 3 men protecting their woman? That's romantic.
Once again Youqin is doing a selfless sacrifice: his soul shards give up themselves for her. This getting to be a very bad habit!
Youqin is coming back!!!!!!! My Immortal Turtle! He's got the same deadpan expression and he's still powerful. Phew!
Dingyun just died? I didn't expect that moment of sacrifice from someone like him.
I am legit, no lie, crying. Those 3 saying goodbye breaks my heart. Excuse me a moment while I sob in the corner.
Yay…Youqin has no emotions! The Immortal Realm will be rejoicing tonight. Bring out the wine.
Between you and me, the turtle DEFINITELY has his emotions and he's in love with her. Those eyes don't lie. And Yetan is in love with him no doubt.
I never liked the Immortal Emperor. It was his constant constipation face that irked me and that fact that he's willing to throw his son to the Guixu because "he's earned it".
I knew he remembered everything, and he knows Yetan's true identity. I'm just an emotional mess right now!
Admittedly I put off any attachment to Chaofeng and Qingkui because Youqin was coming back, but now that he is back, I can say: the Void couple are super cute. I wish them happiness no matter short it is.
Short complaint: Heavenly/Immortal clothes are boring as hell. It's just pastels and various shades of white. They do this all the time with fantasy dramas. (shakes head) Come on, let's do something different. But this clothes-changing-scene is adorable. Poor dragonfly guy, he can never win.
(gasps) The hugs! My heart is rollercoaster: first, the tears now the heart palpitations from the adorableness radiating off the Immortal couple! And he's Immortal Turtle, but out his shell. (I will keep this analogy up for as long as I darn well, please. And yes, I wish I could have thought of turtle references for Foxy and Greed, but I couldn't.)
It's going to be impossible for our lovebirds to keep their dates a secret. Youqin is doing a terrible job at keeping his emotions in check, now that he has them. And Yetan has literally never been doted on, so you know she loves this.
I totally see the 3 shards in the new Youqin. He's a mixture of all 3 and still has some traces of the old turtle. Again, Chen Xingxu does a phenomenal job playing so many different characters.
The Void Queen is going after Chaofeng and the Void gang. Haichou is trying to do the right thing by keeping all news from his friend, but Chaofeng is still the little schemer. I bet he'll sneak out and draw the army away from Qingkui or something like that.

Wednesday
Here are some thoughts on Wednesday.
Though I should say first that I remember watching some family Addams show, but I vaguely recall it, like I don’t really know which one it was. It was in Spanish too, so I didn’t really know her name was Wednesday till I’m not sure when.
Ok, here it all goes. Spoilers follow:
Episode 1
Jenna Ortega has been a fave since You (plus the whole rollercoaster video with Jen Garner). Then come the credits and there are Catherine, Christina and Gwendolyn. I love these women, I’m in for a treat.
I literally thought the opening was a dream sequence. Not the whole thing, just the piranhas part. But it isn’t. Cool, cool, cool, cool. Also, Wed said the school was underfunded and then they had that HUGE indoor pool... I was really confused at that.
I don’t remember Wednesday having any powers, so I’m guessing that’s new. Or maybe I really don’t remember anything at all.
I love that Christina’s such a ray of sunlight here, and that she got Wed’s plant right.
I think one of the ~boys is the homicidal monster, I’m pretty sure I read something about it in passing here, but I don’t recall which one of them it is, I’m thinking it’s probably the sheriff’s son, since it’d be the most extra. So that’s kinda spoiled for me, which is a bummer.
I love the callbacks to the family’s time in the school, and I’m also pretty sure Gomez isn’t a murderer, so that’s something for Wed to figure out.
I love seeing her smile at the end, so cute!
Episode 2
I was wondering what Weems’s thing was. I’m guessing, since she can shapeshift, that she might be responsible for the accusations against Gomez. I wonder why she’s hiding what happened to Rowan, what’s her connection to the monster/murders. Or is it just to keep the school safe?
I kinda like that Christina is a normie. She said the conservatory is always open... I’m sure that’ll come into play.
So Xavier’s powers are to turn drawn things into alive things?
I love that Enid and Wed won against Bianca. Definitely got Wed into the school spirit.
I also wonder about what happened to the sheriff’s wife.
I love that Poe’s an alumni and that the double snap opens the secret passage door.
I’ve realized that I’m pretty sure Christina played Wednesday in some Addams movie, but I never watched that.
Episode 3
Gotta love it when colonizers burn.
So much going on! I can’t believe Ajax is dead! I’m guessing that’s what he is, yes? I didn’t get what his power or outcast-quality was till that moment.
Marilyn’s got secrets, I like it!
Weems obviously hates Morticia, that much was obvious in the first episode. I wonder what her deal with the mayor is.
I love that Wed got herself a little brother at school. I don’t get how Eugene’s retainers could still be useful after Wed opened the door with them.
Love the visions into the past. That had to be where the answers were, so I’m excited to see more.
Xavier’s dad’s like Morticia and Wed... interesting. Those marks at the end...
At least the sheriff’s got proof that there’s a monster roaming around.
Tyler looked rather conflicted... so sussss.
Episode 4
A school dance, yay! Wed and Enid looked so pretty.
And also, apparently, Ajax is alive and didn’t turn into stone, he just froze for a little bit... I’m glad about that. Specially cause Enid deserved a good smooch.
BUT EUGENE!!!!!! I can’t believe he still went alone, so stupid!!!!
Xavier’s breaking my heart, IDEK. And Bianca too.
So Tyler went to a ~rehab camp, or whatever it was he called it, after he was the biggest asshole to Xavier, and I’m guessing that’s why he has to attend therapy sessions or is it his mom stuff?
Weems was in love with Gomez, maybe I was right and she accused him of killing a normie way back cause he turned her down for Morticia?
Episode 5
Finally a bit of answers! Gomez truly never looked like he had murder in him, and the twist wasn’t particularly twisty at that point, but I’m glad it was dealt with.
Eugene!!! I’m sure he’ll get better cause he has to, it’s law! The moment with his mothers and Wed got me emotional.
I knew the coroner was gonna die cause all that mention of retirement plans had only one way to go. I wonder who did it, why now. I’m thinking its’ something to do with Gates’s sister, that whole recap of the family’s tragic story read like Henry’s in Stranger Things to me.
Feeling even worse about Bianca’s situation after meeting her mother. I hope she won’t have to use her powers to scam people.
Enid took a stance, yay for her!
I wonder when we’ll meet Xavier’s dad, since we have to at some point.
I’m glad Wed figured out that it was Weems pretending to be Rowan. And she said it was for the school, so maybe that’s all there is to it.
The Addams eating potpourri was hilarious, as was the fishing technique.
Episode 6
The actor who plays Lucas radiates charm, it’s insane.
So Wed turned 16... how old is Tyler supposed to be? I was thinking about this when she met him while he was at work, but to find out she’s only 15 then seems to make it even worse. I’m guessing him and his friends might be going to a normal school in Jericho but it still doesn’t look good to me.
Thornhill was being suspicious... She showed up right after the Mayor was hit. Is she somehow related to the Gates? I don’t know, her whole being a normie thing, maybe it wasn’t true. She also gives Wed a Frankenstein copy, and then we see all the body parts... Sounds like whoever’s behind the murders wants to build their own version of it.
I’m so sad for Enid, she really does try so very much to be Wed’s friend.
Oh, look, Tyler was never around while the monster showed up... sussss.
Wed channeling Encanto with the whole prophecy that might look to be something but it’s actually the opposite. It’s honestly what first came to mind when she first saw the drawing but now she basically spelled it out in those terms so it was funny to me.
Episode 7
Okay, so even before she was killed, I figured therapist was innocent and Thornhill’s actually Laurel and her normie act was just that, an act.
The traumatic event that brought out the Hyde in Tyler was probably his mom’s death, however it happened... or maybe he killed her?
And I thought it was interesting that Fester mentioned that Hydes are artistic or something like that, when we saw Tyler doing the whole birthday message on the coffee.
I’m so glad Thing’s okay and Enid’s back!
It’s hilarious that Fester’s the black sheep in the opposite way those usually work... tho he did rob a bank and a vehicle.
Episode 8
Okay, so it all developed pretty much as I thought it would. I was so glad Enid wolfed out, old Crackstone was defeated... but the best part was the hug for sure! Wed and Enid are friends who hug, lovely!
I’m sad for Weems but it also made sense seeing as it’s Gwen playing her.
I’m happy that Xavier and Wed said goodbye on friendly terms, tho it’s funny that she got a stalker as soon as she joined the 21st century.
Yay for Eugene recovering and using his power as well as for Bianca helping out!
I wonder if we’ll see more of Laurel. I’m guessing that depends on Christina but I’m sure we’ll see more of Tyler... I honestly never trusted his face, but I kinda wish I hadn’t been spoiled. I read something in passing like “x turned out to be y”. It didn’t register much then, but I put the pieces together once I started watching the episodes. Would I have picked up on all the hints the way I did or been totally clueless without it? We’ll never know, which I hate (spoilers are seriously the worst thing ever), so now I gotta read opinions and watch reactions to experience it through unspoiled eyes now.
All in all
I thoroughly enjoyed the show. It was funny, it had mystery, it had lovely people and relationships and it entertained me fully.
It had high school drama mixed in with Harry Potter style crimes and competitions, with a bit of Veronica Mars (sans technology) teenage investigation and supernatural stuff of all kinds.
I can see why it’s a hit and I’m glad I finally caught up to it. I just hope TPTB know what they’re doing and have a great season 2 in store.
ETA: I just read the show was filmed in Romania and I’m so happy about it. I blame Seb.
