I’ve been following chainsaw man kinda loosely, but I know the spoilers especially the most recent one

Spoilers btw for csm chapter 118

Anyway I think the next chapters Nayuta’s rules are going to be mostly silly. Just kids rules that are harmless yet kinda fun and they change on the fly as well. I also think that when Asa breaks one, there isn’t going to be some major death fight, most likely Nayuta will still do something silly like order the dogs to jump on her.

However, I do think that in the past, there has been a serious rule broken that caused in the death of someone. I don’t know what, but if Nayuta truly gets upset because a rule is broken, for example a rule like no lying about who is chainsaw man, they’re getting squashed like a bug.

I mean I'm sure you've seen how much WORSE they've gotten in regards to harassing and bullying people after being given a goddamn inch in getting Taylor off the show.

If you reward a bully in even the smallest of ways they become a million times worse, and if you give a bully what they want they think that they were in the right to dogpile, harass, threaten, and bully other people.

But at this point the show has clearly jumped the shark. It might recover - it did after the mess that was 4a, but I really don't have a whole lot of faith in that actually happening.

The 'tism is kicking in again. I was looking up a couple of the actors for Police Academy 3 when I noticed the movie had a budget of only $12 million. Adjusted for inflation the modern equivalent is only about $33.4 million. So I'm comparing that to the budgets of the movies in my local theater.

First of all there's a sequel for The Meg out. I didn't even hear it was going to be a thing. The original movie was already kinda bad, but this shit must be awful. Anyway The Meg has a budget of about $ 130 million.

Out of the 9 movies in my local theater the newest Mission Impossible breaks the bank at a budget of $291 million dollars.

In fact there were only 3 movies with a budget of LESS than $100 million.

TMNT: Mutant Mayhem cost $70 million Sound of Freedom cost $14.5 million Some Australian horror movie called Talk To Me was $4.5 million

Meanwhile when adjusted for inflation: Out of the original Star Wars trilogy Return of the Jedi was the only one to cost the modern equivalent of over $100 mil to make. Actual cost was between 32 and 42 mil. Split the difference at 37 and that's the modern equivalent of $116 million.

Out of the original Indiana Jones trilogy the most expensive one was Last Crusade at $48 million which adjusted would be $118 mil and was almost as much as the other two combined.

The first Terminator was only $6.4 million which is less than $19 mil adjusted.

Terminator 2 was about $100 mil back in the day and it shows. Adjusted that's $293 mil. That's a 90's movie but I felt a need to bring it up.

Aliens was $18.5mil or about $55 mil adjusted

The Thing was $15 mil or $47.4 adjusted

Predator was $18 mil or $48.4 adjusted

Lethal Weapon was $15 mil or $40 mil adjusted

Die Hard was about $30 mil or $77 mil adjusted

Close Encounters of the Third Kind was $19.4 or $97 adjusted

Okay so I have not yet watched the new 9-1-1 episode so obviously SPOILERS but you better believe I’m looking at all the spoilers because I literally cannot survive without them but I’ve also seen a lot of posts about how the Buckley parents either won’t visit Buck in the hospital, or they will and they’ll get called out by Eddie for being horrible parents

BUT

I HAVE THOUGHT OF SOMETHING MUCH WORSE AND IDK IF ANYONE ELSE HAS YET BUT IF NOT HERE YOU GO

The Buckley parents do end up visiting Buck in the hospital right? They find out he’s been struck by lightning and doesn’t have a very good chance at surviving because of it. Yes, they’ve been told the next 24hrs are crucial. Yes they’ve been told he’s in a medically induced coma. Yes they’ve been told that it’s now up to him to fight to live. But- they don’t see it that way. They already think of Buck as nothing but spare parts, so why not get some use out of him again by PULLING THE PLUG AND DONATING HIS ORGANS. Because I would not put it past Margaret and Philip to at least bring up the fact that “oh well, he’s gonna die anyway, might as well..” ya know? I don’t think it was ever established who would be Buck’s medical proxy should anything life threatening like that ever happen. Sure, Buck’s been in the hospital before, the fire truck crushing his leg, the tsunami, etc, but he’s never been in a medically induced coma before. And if Buck never changed any of his next of kin, medical care stuff, then by default his parents would be the ones calling the shots. And yeah, pulling the plug is definitely something those two would do- especially Margaret.

As much as I would love it to parallel Eddie changing his Will to make Buck Chris’s legal guardian, by Buck making Eddie his medical proxy, let’s all admit that if he were to have changed his next of kin stuff, he would’ve made Maddie his proxy. Because he loves his sister, and he trusts her to make the right decisions, especially when it comes to him and his health because we all know how self destructive Buck can be. Making Maddie in charge puts pressure on her. Of course it would. Why wouldn’t it? That’s her brother after all. The Buckley parents have always been shady and untrustworthy, so trying to pull rank over Maddie and trying to pull the plug on Buck would be how they can finally be rid of the reminder that Daniel didn’t survive and go from there.

Yes of course the 118 would quickly dismiss them. Of course they’d fight for Buck. Buck is family. He’s like a son to Bobby, an annoying little brother to Chim and Hen, and Eddie’s partner/best friend/pseudo parent/legal guardian to Chris. I didn’t mean for this to get long but I literally just thought of it after seeing all the spoilers and was like I h a v e to tell them. So until next week when I can survive off of spoilers again I will be chewing glass, kicking my feet, having multiple heart attacks a day thinking of Eddie finally screaming for Buck instead of vice versa, and giggling like a gremlin unprompted at the most inopportune of times.

Crossover Story Ideas

Crossover story ideas that I may or may not write but they're all also up for adoption if you ask.

MDZS x BNHA Jiang Cheng kills himself and is reincarnated in the BNHA world. The only issue is that while he grows up, his memories begin resurfacing causing him issues. WWX, LZ, JL, etc. are all immortal so they're all still alive and have been mourning him until they see him in the news or something and come to make up for the past.

MDZS x BNHA Bakugo Mitsuki adopted Xue Yang after he was injured by a hero during a villain attack and left to die. Xue Yang grew a resentment for heroes after the event (except for a select few). Mainly just Mitsuki and her gremlin children.

Genshin Impact x BNHA The archons are still followed and regarded by the public although no one has seen a single one in years. The archons all came to an agreement to not interfere in human affairs as they had to learn on their own. Nahida hates this but knows that because they all made contracts with Morax, she can't break the deal. Instead, she goes into Aizawa's dreams and helps lead him that way so that he can make sure that there class 1a doesn't suffer loses during the war and AFO is defeated.

The Black Phone x 9-1-1 Hating the empty nest (and Buck), Margaret and Phillip decided to have another child, Vance, when Buck was around 13-14. Buck did his best to care for his little brother the same way that Maddie did for him but by the time he was 18, he had to leave. He sent postcards to Vance the same way he did to Maddie but their parents move and he is unable to find the address so they stop. Because of Doug, Maddie doesn't have contact with her family. Vance began acting out because of the neglect from his parents and ultimately when he fails to show up at school or home for a few days, they just brush it off as him being rebellious. After a week of him not showing up, they assume he ran away and move back to Pennsylvania. After the kids (who all survive) escape from the grabber, no one is able to contact Vance's parents. The other victim's parents are all willing to take him in but for it to happen they need to meet with Vance's family so they can relinquish custody of him. It's during this meeting that Buck and Maddie learn for the first time that there brother had even been missing.

Duty After School x Weak Hero Class After realizing how much time he spent alone, Bora pseudo adopted Sieun as her little brother, even if he didn't want it. When she found out the truth about the spheres, the first thing on her mind was making sure that Sieun was safe. Instead of the science school students breaking into their hideout, it's a group of freshmen asking for help. It's revealed that all the refugee centers were attacked and anyone who was able was put through last minute training and forced to join the military. Sieun had been at the hospital with Sooho and his grandmother when the spheres began attacking and was separated from the two.

Outerbanks x 9-1-1 When Maddie was still in HS, she got pregnant with Doug's baby. A few weeks left until her labor and she gets into a car accident. She's told the baby didn't make it but later learns that's a lie. After the pogues come back after being stranded on an island for 6 weeks, it is revealed that Luke is gone. CPS investigates and finds out that Luke wasn't even JJ's real dad and find out that his real parents are Maddie and Doug and he is sent to live with Maddie.

Six of Crows x 9-1-1 x Weak Class x Outer Banks The LA firefighters are entering a program to where inmates will become temporary firefighters in order to earn time off of their sentences. As this is the first time that 118 is participating, they're giving juveniles as a trail so they can learn what to do and what not to do. Sieun, JJ, Ilha, and Jesper are all added into the program.

Kinnporsche x Manner of Death The story of Manner of Death but if Tan was the second youngest/youngest Theerapanyakun and had their backing the whole time. (would take place at beginning of MOD and middle to end of KP)

KP x My Beautiful Man Gun knew how his brother operated so he had a fail safe plan in motion. While he had Venice who was only a baby, he had another child hidden in Japan, Kiyoi, who would become his heir if both Vegas and Macau failed him. Before he can set his plan in motion, he is killed in the raid and Vegas is put in a coma. Before Macau can get to Kiyoi, Korn learns of his existence and brings him to the house essentially trapping him not knowing this now puts him at the mercy of Hira.

Genshin x BNHA Kingdom AU! where lumine is the abyss princess and aether is presumed dead (or in a coma). her kingdom has been all but destroyed after it was ravaged by afo and his army. teyvat and ua used to be aligned but after lumine learned that all might knew about afo's impending attack the entire time and did nothing to warn a single kingdom so they could also prepare, she cut all ties with the kingdom. years later when his kingdom was on the brick of collapsing and when afo began resurfacing again, all might tries to send a few of his loyal subjects to persuade lumine for assistance as she successfully rebuilt her kingdom.

Genshin x BNHA Dottore tried to emulate the portals the traveler was able to make but messed up along the way. His mess up, however, allowed for him to travel between worlds where he met with and aligned with afo who he worked with on his experiments and vice versa. because of the constant use of their portals, the two worlds end up collapsing into each other and the citizens have to learn how to not only survive but also if it's possible to fix things.

Saturday morning writing output

Damnit. It’s April and this is still not done. I’m blaming a tornado warning that lasted all afternoon and then there was the women’s final four. *ahem* Go HAWKS!

so here’s a snippet.

Title: Sleepless in LA, chapter 10: Holiday Blues, part 2

Fandom: 911

Pairings: endgame Buddie but Eddie is making all the Ana mistakes.

Tags/warnings: first draft. Christopher is doing his best gremlin impression and Eddie needs to lay off the 80s/90s movie references. Lena is just here for her own amusement.

Eddie is going to be late.  Very, very late. Christopher has been in a mood all week. The closer they get to Christmas and the more surly his son has become.  Eddie knew that working Christmas Day was going to be an issue after the year they’d had but it’d been made very clear that trading shifts wasn’t going to be approved because they were so short.   

Half of the 136 hadn’t come back due to issues with the tsunami and retirements. There was scuttlebutt about the 136 being disbanded and absorbed into neighboring stations until there could be enough firefighters to adequately staff without straining the float pool which made Eddie anxious. Bobby’s offer to join the 118 was on his mind but he hadn’t reached out.  He wasn’t going to borrow trouble until he needed to and more change wasn’t what he needed right now.

Right now, he needed Christopher to come out of his room so he could say goodnight. Lena was watching in amusement.  

“Christopher?” Eddie knocked on the door again.  Christopher had locked himself in his room. 

“You’re going to need a better bribe,” Lena sang mockingly. 

“Not helpful,” he grumbled at her and knocked again.  “Christopher I just want to say goodnight.”

“You’ve said it,” Christopher says from behind the closed door.  “So go away.  You’re going to be late for your date.”

Eddie wants to bang his head against the door.  After they’d gotten home from Texas he’d tentatively broached the idea of Christopher and Ana spending some time together in a situation where she wasn’t there as a teacher, maybe after the first of the year.  Christopher had reacted badly, accusing Eddie of replacing Shannon. 

So between his mom asking about Ana every time they texted, called or FaceTimed and Christopher’s vehement dislike of the idea of Eddie having female companionship, he was at his wits end. Ana had also been consistently pressing to spend some time together as a family on their coffee dates, pointing out that Christopher already knew her and there was no reason to avoid their interacting. 

If he had one more person tell him what he should be doing with his life he might actually scream.  All he wanted to do was the right thing for Christopher but somehow his sweet, innocent child had turned into a gremlin that got fed after midnight. 

“You said there’s ice cream in the freezer for dessert?” Lena asks, interrupting his internal pity party. 

“Yeah.  Make sure he doesn’t eat the entire carton?”  And not after midnight—he added mentally.  Eddie didn’t want to know if the same rules applied for gremlins and little boys. 

“And leave none for me?  Never!”  She says cheekily. “Go enjoy your date.  I’ll coax him out eventually.”

“Thanks, Lena.”

I truly love that, even when doing his revenge investigation, LBY is never a cold character. He might appear indifferent and stoic at a superficial level or to those he dislikes or doesn't care about , but he is actually incredibly emotional. Even his ignoring certain people or being hostile towards them usually comes from an emotional place. From the first eps, when he loses his latest lead, he tears up. When questioning criminals related to the Gu city case, he barely controls or even loses his temper. He gets bothered by things. And of course, since the first look, he gets so soft every time he looks as Ss. He is driven by passion, be it his desire for revenge and justice or love. This is why he is so frightening, and why you still root for him anyway. We not only see his (objectively morally wrong) actions, but we understand and FEEL the reasons and emotions behind them, because he feels them so intensily and is allowed to show it.

This is why the "unhinged arc" works so well. It is not that he is clear headed and collected one moment and he suddenly gets overwhelmed and starts breaking down. From the very beginning, he has been hanging by a thread that is unravelling steadily until it finally snaps. And we see it unraveling! We see him lose control and react emotionally and be deeply affected by people and situations throughout every episode. It is a gradual decline and it is so satisfying and heartbreaking when it does snap all the way because we know it is going to happen and there's no way to stop it or slow it down, and we understand why it happened and why, for his character, it makes complete sense. The build up to that moment was in the making from the start and it wouldn't have worked if Zizheng had been your typical cold and impassive military man.

Wu Lei and everyone involved in script and storytelling really did a great job at portraying such a complex and multidimensional character that is full of contradictions in a very organic and compelling way. From the expressions to the line delivery, this is the kind of work that creates a standout character that will resonate with people and leave a long lasting impression.

No, but the way the first eps still hit so hard, like:

That iconic introduction to LBY. So imposing and powerful, so disregarding of anything but duty.

Intro to Shaoshang being so different but equally as effective. Idk, you see that girl eating like she'll never be able to again and being a total gremlin and you're instantly attached.

First meeting is EVERYTHING. My guy is so single minded and all he has time for is finding a criminal but this girl he hasn't even seen is completely ruthless and has no qualms with selling out her elder, and my guy is actually impressed and intrigued. He's usually so done with people in general, but you can tell that she left an impression. The way he says her name. It started.

Hilarious how SS misconstrued his compliments. The thing is, if he were any other person, she'd probably be right. Little did she know then that LBY spits on social conventions.

Her sending him the evidence he needed to continue the investigation just cemented his respect. From what little he has seen of her, he already sees how resourceful and clever she is, he trusts her to have a scheme. I think he even admires her for it.

I think this is why it hits him so hard when he finally sees her at the lantern festival. It's not really love at first sight. He's admired her mind long before that, she already has his respect. That she is gorgeous and her smile is brighter than the lanterns is just what cements his crush.

you guys, Horikoshi always does this with Bakugou, and fandom always reacts like Miette the cat, as if there aren’t going to be any more chapters in the future and this was our one and only chance to see some angst. and then a few chapters later Horikoshi always DOES hit us with the angst, and of course it’s amazing, and always more than worth the wait.

chapter 96: Bakugou has just been rescued after being kidnapped and held by villains for two days, and watching his hero lose his powers because of him. instead of angsty uwu Bakugou, we get loud gremlin Bakugou arguing with his mom while his parents and teachers talk about dorms. we do get the “thank you” scene afterwards, but otherwise there’s no acknowledgement of how this very traumatic incident has affected him, and All Might pretty much brushes off the chance to talk to him about it.

chapter 118: “why was I the one who ended All Might?” he has a four-chapters-long fight with Deku, confesses to all of the trauma we knew he was hiding, and has All Might come and give him a hug and validate him being a good hero and reassure him that what happened was not his fault. it’s even acknowledged that he (All Might) should have done so earlier. we got everything we could have wanted; it just took an extra twenty chapters or so to get there.

chapter 283: Deku rushes off to go save Aizawa (and this is also the chapter where he unlocks Float), leaving Bakugou with Gran. fandom reacts like Bakugou is going to be left out of the entire fight and fade into the background and never be heard from again.

chapters 284+285: Bakugou gets by far his most impressive character development to date (“you are [worried for him] too”; “I bullied him”; “he just doesn’t take himself into account”; “that’s your way of trying to atone, right?”), takes over the battle, coordinates Enji and Shouto to produce a near-lethal counterattack, and winds up making a sacrifice play in one of the defining moments of the arc.

chapter 303: Bakugou rushes to Deku’s hospital room only to be dragged away by his classmates who try to tell him that All Might requested to be alone with Deku, and who also don’t want him storming into his comatose friend’s room and throwing a fit while he himself has only just woken up after being freshly impaled (which, he really shouldn’t even be up in the first place).

chapter(s) TBD: Bakugou and All Might have a serious talk, All Might thanks him and tells him he heard what he did and that he’s proud of him and relieved that he’s okay, and Bakugou and Deku finally have their post-Jakku reunion, during which Bakugou reveals the meaning of his new hero name, and finally gets his chance to apologize.

just because it hasn’t happened yet doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen, or that Bakugou is being turned into a comic relief character whom no one understands or takes seriously. first of all, canon Bakugou has always been like this and this was honestly 100% predictable. and second and more importantly, if Horikoshi is pushing these reunions back, it doesn’t mean that we’re missing out; it simply means that this is not the right time for it. he wants to get all of the other stuff out of the way first. if that’s the case, I appreciate that we even briefly got to see Bakugou at all (and also got those more serious scenes with him in chapter 298), rather than Horikoshi simply keeping him asleep off-screen until the timing was right.

but what this means is that Bakugou and Deku’s reunion is actually getting a place of honor at the very end of this hospital mini-arc. Horikoshi is saving it for last, and allowing the tension to build up as much as possible beforehand, because this will be the most important scene of the arc (and possibly one of the most important in the entire series). and whether we have to wait twenty chapters like we did after Kamino, or only a few chapters like we did during the Jakku fight, either way the payoff is going to be worth it.

so that’s it, that’s the post lol. the bkdk is coming you guys. the angst is coming. the character development is coming. we’ve waited 303 chapters already; a few more isn’t going to kill us. the brief little bit of humor after the last few incredibly tense Todoroki flashback chapters is a nice change of pace that helps keep this mini arc from being a complete angstfest. Bakugou’s shouty antics help give his classmates a brief respite from sitting around being sad (which is one of the secondary functions he’s always had as a character, and it’s one of the reasons his classmates are so fond of him now). and again, it’s all going to be worth it. you can write that down. and if Horikoshi does somehow wind up botching this of all things, you can message me after and be all “WHAT GIVES, MAKESTE, YOU SAID!!”, and I will apologize and give you a dollar.
