Random fun fact: when i was 15 i had a one direction fan acc with like 40k followers and when i went to their concert i had three groups come girls come up to me asking for pictures HAHAHAH (i wonder how they are doing bc they were so nice) so yeah i kept getting stopped to take photos before the show started and my friend i was with got really mad when she got asked to take the photos for us instead of be in them

CIRCULATORY SYSTEM, THE LAY ALL OVER ITS Flicker Theatre & Bar Wednesday. June 30
I woke from a hard late afternoon sleep and a spy dream; spies that cling to the ceiling and under floorboards. It was blustery and I was to head to Flicker for "acoustic" Circulatory System. Good thing I got there in time, as the night would sell out. Even the outdoor seating was retracted. Even a woman who'd flown from Boston for just this concert was turned away I felt an out-of-season "Christmas Carol" window scene on my back as dozens of hopefuls did their best Tiny Tims, hoping to get a crumb off the feast inside. The dimly lit theatre lengthened my awake/ asleep fog as the opening act readied.
The Lay All Over Its were down from Chicago, with Jason Ajemian on double bass and vocals, and Nori Tanaka on drums. Ajemian plays in free- jazz trio Triage, though he’s no stranger to the rootsier approach; his Born Heller duo with Josephine Foster is a new kind of Americana, highly idiosyncratic with an eye towards the past. Tanaka, originally from Fukuoka, Japan, now calls Illinois home. He plays in various configurations with the likes of Jett Parker and Tatsu Aoki. demonstrating remarkable flexibility and spontaneous adaptations. And so it began. Washes of cymbals and toms and strumming and singing in perpetual motion arched like Gorecki's “Third.’ Harmonics, drones, displacement of rhythms, headbobbing throughout. Circular sheets of pulse modestly dispatched (from Tanaka's kit. from his heart
Taps to end, like the rain.
Then bowing—sad, multivoiced broken folk—beautiful, as drums entered again, but it took a while to notice their intermittent punctuations. More frenetic, this kind of heavy still had forward momentum with no obvious subdivisions. The audience was quiet. A major key explosion and the drums dropped out. It was a train what kept rollin’ in the brushes and a hard-formed triplets. Ajemian in his upper reaches sang what I couldn't understand—but didn't need to— overtop “No. no. no, no, no, no. no.' his intonation like on a Smithsonian Folkways recording. Patter of snare, scratch of bow. it sounded timeless. Plucked pointillist ghost notes, pizzicato expressionism, continue drum creating rapid call and response. Busy with high flourishes like Little Richard slowing and starting. Deep African groove book-ended by knotty swing jazz vamps to a sparer rat-a-tat percussion solo Drums front and center, just as they've been the whole way, though now we focus on the undercurrent. A chance to stretch, to fixate on cells of rhythmic exchange. Bass entry on cue in seamless integration. More raw singing, like a field song, and it stopped.
I was still that (good) groggy, maybe more so; my spy dream seemed reality as people may well have hung from the ratters and snuck through doorways, in expectation. (And I'd love to check out Circulatory System's record collections; the in-between band music was cool-headed.) We waited in this calm... Finally, with spare sustained tones, Will Hart sang “been such a long time" (if it had. all was forgiven) over a gentle propulsion. Julian Koster sawed away his echo chamber opera. This continued until drummers Hannah Jones and Derek Almstead kicked in with the big beat; it was Pink Floyd planetarium. King Crimson angularity and classic-rock catharsis as John Fernandes' bass clarinet bottomed out. Soon traditional instruments were traded for two pitchers of water, pouring from one to the other as Lay All Over Its’ Ajemian added high sparkle and low bow. There was even kissing of the microphone, close up.
On to Pete Erchick’s keyboard bass pulse and a big stadium sound, a nice slurry clarinet break all mellowed out in staccato rhythm through the changes, an expanded sense of time. As Hart chanted “one by one" all stopped and resumed together, an Arnold Dreyblatt insistence and calm. The System shifted from jazzy to straightforward rock and back. A living cross-fade to slow dirges into Beatles-disco speedup-hushed freakout. The last suite: a mid-tempo shuttle, a guitar and voice reduction, some trading bass. “Now is the only time." Easy waves as Fernandes walked backwards down the center aisle with some sort of noisemaker. I slept well, spies be damned.

Gt July Day 31 - Free Day
This last prompt was completely open, so I decided to do a short drabble in my Project Zeta verse. All of my friends and relatives who are public school teachers are going back this week (my god) so school was on the brain.
This month has been so much fun! I hope you all enjoyed the ride as much as I did!

Bean had been reading books.
Well, he’d been working his way through picture books – with the help of the document camera and projector, since he was too big to hold them right, much less read them – and Hannah had been reading him some chapter books. Reading was a core pillar of education, after all, even if that education was happening in a secret military base and her only student happened to be over forty feet tall. Plus, the books were good for him, Hannah felt. Bean loved stories, and the books were the only way he would ever learn what the rest of the normal world was like.
Naturally, this sort of learning sparked a lot of questions. Today’s was, “Miss Hannah? What do they mean by summer break?”
Hannah glanced over at the wall, where the current picture book page was displayed. She could have just looked down of course, her being the one to hold the book under the camera, but somehow it seemed more natural to look at whatever Bean was looking at when he asked a question. Just in case. “Well, Bean,” she began, already formulating an answer in her head that was honest but not too honest. “Most kids go to public school, which doesn’t happen over the summer. They don’t have lessons with their teachers for a couple of months. That’s what they call summer break.”
Bean, of course, had never gotten a summer break in his life. He’d never even really been outside, so his grasp of “summer” as a concept was nearly as shaky as his grasp of “vacation”. Still, he nodded, making a valiant effort to soak up this new knowledge. “And when they come back, they’re in a new grade?” Grades were also a new concept, one that seemed to fascinate all of the children here in the Zeta wing. There weren’t enough of them to divide into grades, and regardless they were, essentially, homeschooled. But that didn’t stop them from asking questions about how normal kids did things.
“Yes, that’s right,” Hannah told Bean.
Bean worried at his lip for a bit before lighting up with a thought. He shifted his feet, nearly knocked over a table of school supplies doing so, and leaned over to be closer to Hannah. His shadow blotted out the sun, but she was more than used to that. “If I were, um, if I were a normal kid in pub-lic school, what grade would I be in?” he asked, haltingly but with no lack of enthusiasm.
Hannah gave that a bit of a think. Let’s see, it was… lord, August already, school would be starting out in the real world. In here, time seemed to pass by all too differently. “You would be going into fifth grade,” she determined. That was based on the fact that he was ten years old, of course; academically speaking, he was years behind. Nobody before her had even bothered to give the kid a pencil big enough to write with, much less given any sort of concerted effort towards a stable education. He was lucky to hit second grade levels in most subjects.
Not that he needed to know that. It didn’t really matter, and besides, he straightened and beamed at the news. “Fifth grade!” he exclaimed. “That’s, that’s like the grade really cool kids are in!” This was at least the case in the elementary-school-aged books that Hannah tended to provide him with. Fifth grade was, after all, often the oldest grade in any given elementary school. They were the Kids Who Knew Things in all the chapter books. He grinned down at Hannah, the bright leaves growing straight out of his skin glowing gold in the sunlight. It was like he had a halo made out of a jungle. “Do you think I’m a cool kid?” he asked, already knowing the answer.
Hannah just smiled back. “Of course, Bean,” she answered, confirming his suspicions and watching his shoulders hunch a little in barely restrained delight. “I think you’re the coolest fifth-grader around.”

Moxy
COHT - Abriviation of Citizens Of Halloween Town, Moxy's personal fandom name. This fansite decides to use the name so any Moxy fan could tell who they are without trouble. They are the first fansite to be dual ran by three girls in the US and three girls in Korea.
Synchronize - Moxy's first Korean fansite. They formed right before the cherry bomb comeback. The name is base off the moveset of Moxy's favorite pokemon, Ralts. They became famous for posting hd videos of Moxy at 127's fansigns
Grapefruit - The name of this fansite got it from Moxy's favorite fruit. They strictly post photos and photos only. This fansite always gets the best photos of Moxy (Secretly, this site is ran by one of Moxy's younger student from school in Chicago)

Hibiscus - this site is named after the flower of the same name, native to Hawaii. Every couple months they sponsor a fan meet up for other fans of NCT and Hannah to meet each other in Hawaii. This site also helps get albums to Hawaii
Tiny Dancer - This site is run by a Chinese girl. She translates anything associated to Hannah's promotions and schedules. This site usually pairs up with other Chinese Hannah sites to plan birthday events. Last they were able to book a drone show
Eclipse - this site name is associated with the Moon, Hannah Korean last name. They run events and release new goods for every AG comeback without fail. The most popular good is their Hannah only photobooks.

Juno
Reina - This fansite is ran by a team of two sisters. Both sisters moved to Seoul for school but one doesn't like crowds. So one sister takes the pictures and the other runs their site. Just to celebrate Juno's debut in NCT 2018, they released unseen Juno photocards
Triple Lutz - The fansite got its name from the ice skating moves of the same name. This site was the first site to find and post footage of Juno at an old figure skating competition.
Lone Star - This fansite is ran by a fellow texan. They host a yearly birthday event for Juno at a bubble tea shop in Juno's hometown. this site runner in responsible for Juno's first birthday project in korea as well

Aurora
Unknown - This is a fansite ran by a British girl. She based the name off of Aurora's favorite Pokemon, Unown. They host a big birthday event every year in London
Frontside - This fansite got its name from a skateboarding move. They used to be at Aurora every music show performance before the pandemic. The site runner graduated from college and went on to be a professional photographer for Inkigayo.
Bright Lights - Aurora's oldest fansite. They've been around since Aurora's Youtube days. The girls who runs it is in Aurora's fansigns, whether its for Dream or AG, every time. These two had a legendary interaction at the Dream Concert. Aurora spotted her in the crowd and did special poses just for her. Those shots are pinned to the top if Bright Lights twitter page.

Okay so having lived through the peak (or at least what I hope is the peak) of the Reboot Era of entertainment, I just have to say that I think so many reboots suck because reboots are obsessed with updating the story to modern day.
Even when that specific story doesn't fit within the framework of how the world works in modern day.
Like the story of Hannah Montana wouldn't me able to be remade under the same framework of just putting on a wig to disguise her identity, because facial recognition software has come so far and social media is everywhere.
The only way it could really work out is if Hannah Montana was Miley's animated digital avatar that rose to fame like a Vtuber managing to become the same sort of famous as Hatsune Miku.
Where there'd be concerts that sell out stadiums, but also Miley is still just singing and dancing in some mo-cap studio and having her online avatar projected onto a curved sheet of glass to create a hologram.
The story of Hannah Montana as it currently exists (a blonde wig being the only real identity protection she has) only really works if it's set before the massive explosion of social media, where every kid has one, and everyone just puts their face on the internet for some reason.
Could you imagine them trying to set Hannah Montana in modern day? Miley Stuart would be a social outcast because she doesn't have any social media, her dad threatens to sue if you try to post pictures of her, heck no one in her weird family has social media.
Her classmates would think she's like in witness protection, or kidnapped, or in a cult, or something.
So the only real way to make Hannah Montana work in modern day would be to basically make her a vtuber popstar.
Which the idea of a show about a vtuber living their double life would be interesting, a kind of cross between iCarly and Hannah Montana, I would still want that show to be an original and not a reboot of Hannah Montana.
But also the whole point of this rant is the fact that there's certain stories where you'd honestly be doing just as much work just writing it from scratch considering how much you have to rework it to make it fit in modern day.
So you might as well make it original rather than pissing off a bunch of fans of that original thing.
Not everything needs to be updated or set in modern day to be good, like time period has a big effect on how things work within the context of a story.
But all the studios keep making reboots then keep being confused when people say it's bad, because stuff that made sense in the original doesn't make sense anymore because they changed a lot of stuff because they set it in "modern day".
Also deciding to set your reboot in "modern day" just means your reboot is going to be dated in like 5 years.
I highly doubt any reboot is going to end up a classic, unless it manages to completely blow the original show/movie out of the water, and said show/movie was originally based on a book that the reboot is more faithful to.

An Unfortunate Christmas Murder by Hannah Hendy

Hannah Hendy’s An Unfortunate Christmas Murder is an average Christmas cozy. I enjoyed the likable characters and delightful Christmas setting but the mystery plot moves way too slowly and takes some truly nonsensical turns.
Margery is preparing for her first Christmas as kitchen manager at Summerview School. It’s shaping up to be a busy season but she has the support of her dedicated kitchen team and her kooky wife, Clementine. However, things are about to get even more hectic! The kitchen team (including the wives) is soon forced into performing in the annual Christmas concert by the Head of Drama, Mrs. Smith. The first rehearsal quickly turns deadly when the stage lights collapse and kill the music teacher, Mrs Large. Mrs. Smith becomes the prime suspect and she is desperate for the Dinner Lady Detectives to clear her name.
I was really excited to read this cosy because it seemed so fun and original. How often do you read a book starring mystery-solving married middle-aged lesbians? However, there is a lot of wasted potential because the book turned out to be a very average holiday mystery starring a couple who seem more like gal pals than wives.
The book has several funny moments but the lightness and humour doesn’t carry well throughout the story. There is also a sad lack of that distinctive cozy fun and charm and this results in the story having an unfinished feel. However, I did like the wonderfully warm Christmas atmosphere and the quaint small-town setting.
The mystery had the potential to be fun and interesting but it ultimately falls flat. The plot moves quite slowly and doesn’t make much sense. I also would have liked to see the Dinner Lady Detectives do some more sleuthing. There are a few red herrings sprinkled throughout but none of them really deliver. I wish the suspects were more interesting and more viable. The big reveal is also severely underwhelming as the motives are weak and unconvincing. The entire book is also lacking in thrill and suspense and I never bought that anything really bad would happen next.
The large cast of likable and entertaining characters is this book’s saving grace. Main character Margery is dedicated to her job and her team. However, she is too quiet and unassuming. I really wish she had more personality because she often fades into the background. Her eccentric wife Clementine is quite amusing with her Christmas obsession. However, Clementine and Margery absolutely do not seem like a believable married couple. There is no spark or connection and they act like roommates or sisters. I was really disappointed in this aspect of the book. The other kitchen ladies are funny and I wish they had more depth as they are too one-dimensional and forgettable. However, I really enjoyed over-the-top and demanding Mrs. Rose Smith who provides some much needed ridiculousness and laughter.

How the Islanders celebrate the holidays
Bobby
Loves Christmas with all the food (always with a Jamaican twist) and gifts. Loves to receive toys in particular, as it's for some reason more socially acceptable around Christmas smh. He now also bakes for his family, and takes great pride in having perfected as many traditional recipes as possible.
Preferred gift: Video games or cool toys
Chelsea
I think Chelsea is the kind who'd make each holiday uniquely her (think pink Christmas tree and galentines day being near sacred). Chelsea adores giving away presents more than receiving them though, and goes on a whole little journey around the UK to deliver presents in person while dressed as Santa's little helper.
Preferred gift: Anything rose gold and quirky
Elisa
I mean, Elisa must love her own birthday above any other holiday, right? And yes, Elisa would consider her own birthday as being a worthy national holiday. She goes all out, gets so many gifts – including from herself – and basically her whole birthday week ends up being very Gatsby-esque in terms of glamourous parties that never end.
Preferred gift: Luxury items or tickets to a Beyoncé concert
Gary
Traditional, and so so very cosy. Christmas with Gary would include all the British classics, and of course Christmas jumpers – maybe matching ones? I think he loves how relaxing it is, and definitely avoids the shops around Christmas. It's all about spending time with his little family.
Preferred gift: Tools or Star Wars lego
Hannah
Classic Christmas with soft cottage core vibes and an instagram full of penguin classics she's reading in front of the fireplace (does she actually read them? Doubt). She also loves to go riding outside on frosty mornings, and of course receiving presents is a big one for her.

He definitely loves to go home to Sweden for Christmas! The snow, the long, dark nights, skiing, the smells... Yeah, he just can't get into the right mood if he's trying to celebrate in the UK.

I think she's kind of over Christmas because of her job and how it's always super stressful before Christmas especially, so I think she prefers something more vague like the summer holidays in general (it's warm and she can travel to somewhere exciting).

So, I'm not quite sure if Rahim would celebrate Christmas or if he's muslim (or just from a primarily muslim family), but his favourite holiday would probably either be Christmas or Eid al-Fitr depending on that. Let me know what you all think!

I think Lucas enjoys Christmas, mostly due to the mood that follows it. However, I think he personally prefers celebrating the Lunar New Year's day, with all the traditions, foods, and games that follow. It just brings him a certain calm, and it's something he doesn't feel depends on having a super close relationship with his parents to celebrate.
Preferred gift: Donations to charities on his behalf
Marisol
I think she enjoys Christmas largely because it gives her a proper break from her work and studies. She definitely enjoys the Spanish traditions she grew up with, and in particular the food. I think she's got her own traditions too though, like going out dancing and drinking with her friends.
Preferred gift: She loves a blazer, but she'll accept a good non-fiction book too
Noah
Noah definitely adores Christmas, mostly because he loves giving thoughtful gifts and spending time with his loved ones. Making people happy with gifts and eating the most delicious home made food (I imagine it's an amazing mix of cultures, and that he helps making it) are both some of his favourite things.
Preferred gift: Books or squiddles
Priya
I have a feeling Priya loves Diwali. The five days is a special time for her to remember her heritage, and then there's the colours, the food, the lights – and she loves preparing her home for it. All it stands for and celebrates just means a lot to her.

i think i have to unstan harry styles.
best weekend of my life (so far)
it's been a week [a fucking year] and I still haven't posted my review. at this point y'all know the show was awesome. hannah is posting her pics after a week straight of actually working (let's take up a collection to hire hannah to go to harry shows and produce exclusive content for us, what do you say?). after a week [a YEAR] away from the harrie commune all I can say is.... I don't know if I can continue on this way without it. i might have to stop altogether. [somehow, i’ve made due.]
after the last show of the 2018 tour I had such a fierce feeling that I'd missed out on something I would have really loved. there was nothing to do for it, since it was my sister's wedding day, so I moved on pretty quickly. but I also made the decision that for harry's next tour, I was going to go all out.
my dudes, what a way to ring in the new era. [and present me needs to interject here that i think i knew that something was going to go horribly wrong in 2020. even with tickets in hand to such faraway shows as phoenix, denver, and raleigh, i could NOT book flights or hotels as late as february. i knew about coronavirus in late december because i was traveling abroad and acutely aware of travel warnings about wuhan province. and in early february we had our mardi gras party and franny showed up kind of sick and i hugged her but cautiously, mentally cataloguing her symptoms. so when it finally happened i think i was just ... resigned. and that’s why i wasn’t as upset as i would have been if nothing had changed from the time i started writing this review.]
this kind of show always seemed like something that happened to other people. getting the actual tickets was rather stressful (though not as stressful an experience as others had...) but once everything shook itself out i couldn’t even think about the weekend or else I’d implode. thank god for @chasm2018‘s organizational abilities. 
we missed a measles exposure at LAX by 2 days (bless). my first harrie commune™ experience of the weekend was riding the connections shuttle to pick up @papiermachecat at terminal 6 like she was a conquering hero (she is). we rode the connections shuttle to pick up @stylesinthewild and found a little table at starbucks in the baggage claim to wait for the bay area harries to arrive in their rented minivan full of goodies.
we piled in and hannah got us to our two hotel rooms, one with three queen beds, and somehow we got to the forum twice, once to buy pre-show merch and then the final time for the fine line show. we all dressed up and then took just ONE picture. one.
you know how the show went. i’m trying to cover ground that the squad hasn’t already posted [a YEAR AGO]
here is the note I DM'd to harry the next morning, which i think sums everything up nicely:
thank you for the show last night at the forum. I flew in from Houston and met up with friends from all over, only one of whom I'd gotten to hug in real life prior to yesterday. today we're sharing beds and toothpaste and fond memories. thank you for being you and bringing us all together. 💜
i don’t remember WHEN i sent it, maybe 3am, but later that day i took an uber to a vegan tattoo artist’s backyard studio to get a planned tattoo that @papiermachecat had sketched for me and my impulse tattoo of a fine line around my left wrist. while i was doing that, the squad finished up eating breakfast with other harries and then went to stand in the pop-up shop line.
you’ve heard the line stories. i fucking LOVE standing in a line for something because of the people you meet. in front of us we had a personal DJ who’d play what people wanted to hear and airdropped a picture of harry’s dick from WMYB. we’d break off in pairs to go to CVS or visit other people we knew in line. and this hasn’t been written about before, but one of those times hannah and i were walking around the block we saw some men standing by some cars near the entrance and we kind of stopped.... and i think at the same time realized who we were looking at ... and after looking around and realizing that no one else in the fucking line recognized jeff azoff hannah went in for the kill. we thanked him for taking such good care of harry, answered questions he had for us, thanked him again, i had the presence of mind at the end to tell him our names, and we took the pop-up shop merch menus that hadn’t been passed out to anyone yet, and then walked back to our spot in line silently, processing that moment. sometimes i’ll think about that conversation and get all warm and fuzzy thinking about that show and how well it went and how much LOVE there was for everything and harry and between all of us and it sustains me through a shitty, shitty pandemic day at work.
eventually we got through the line and got our merch and looked at all the things they had set up and after moving our reservation back we got to cafe habana to sit at a very familiar table and i took off my bandages to show my tattoos to everyone (to this day i regret not having the presence of mind to show jeff my brand new fine line tattoo, he would have loved it) and we ate and laughed and had the server take our picture and that’s probably what i miss most about the weekend, being in that place imbued with such silly meaning to us and all FEELING that gravity of where we were and being able to recognize it in each others’ eyes and smiles. perfect weather, amazing food, the best company.
the early morning saw our three queen room breaking up, and @papiermachecat left a single zyrtec in the middle of the room on the floor, bringing me to tears laughing even without her physical presence. @chasm2018 and i went to randy’s donuts (where we met up with @treatpeoplewithnice again) and GOD i want to eat donuts that good again. 
it was sad to leave LA that afternoon, wearing my new tpwk oversized hoodie. it wasn’t the last time i was around a big crowd of people, wasn’t even the last concert i attended before all of this happened (that was in vienna on december 30), but it was the last time i was going to be full of unbridled joy. that weekend was the real ode to joy.
we’ll get back to it, it’s just going to take some time.
@stylesinthewild, @papiermachecat, @greeneyesharry & emily, @treatpeoplewithnice, @aggresivelyfriendly, and @chasm2018: fine line forum squad forever in my heart. that weekend will always be so special to me for so many reasons and it wouldn’t have been the same without each and every one of you.
@accidentalharrie and @styloff - ONE of these times we’ll be in the same place for long enough to do more than hug and grin at each other.
@ferryboatpeak and @ticklefighthockey - it was great to meet you! and la who would have thought then our next meeting would be in the backyard of an airbnb sitting six feet apart because we don’t want to spread a disease?
to harry, who isn’t reading this but i need all of you who ARE to know my heart ... thank you for bringing these people into my life. this experience of being your fan has changed me in such profound ways that there’s really no way to express it. it’s less about you and more about those who love you like i do, and i love them. and you.
to jeff, thank you for taking such good care of harry and having his best interests at heart. 
to anne, thank you for raising such a good person and giving him to the world.
to camille, thank you for fine line. without you, that weekend doesn’t happen the way it did and i love that weekend.

Sorry I haven't been active. Between schoolwork and just a lack of motivation and creativity, I really dont know what else I should've written. I'm sorry for abandoning this blog for a while haha.
LUCIFER
He's an actor. But later turned into directing and producing movies.
Has an entire room dedicated to his awards, one wall lined up with all his Oscars, Grammys, and Emmys.
Involved in plenty of rumors and scandals, usually where the media thinks he's dating an actor or found a non celebrity partner. But really, he asked them out to talk business.
Whenever he's acting, his character can go from the charming boy to the rich spoiled brat to even the badass detective. He's not a big fan of starring in hero or action movies with lots of effects. Nor directing those types of movies.
Directed a horror movie once and that quickly got taken out of movies for how scary they were. Psychological horror to the extreme.
His stans are usually rich and probably like Quentin Tarantino or Clint Eastwood. Lucifer has beefed with Woody Allen and his stans do as well. Truly iconic.
Philanthropist.
MAMMON
He's a model in canon but I feel he could also be a photographer.
He knows his aesthetics and has plenty of portfolios.
He's probably gonna act a lot smarter now that he's famous and knows plenty of people would want to scam him.
He does give out to charity sometimes but usually he models for campaigns or sells his pictures at auctions and donates away the money or a percentage of it.
Involved in some scandals but they're quickly debunked by his stans or his management. Nothing too bad, just a dating rumor that spirled out of control.
He does have a good relationship with his fans and likes to do podcasts or go on lives and interact and answer questions, even invites them on his lives to talk with them.
He's filthy rich and he dresses filthy rich. His style is very earthy and casual, but he does have that expensive Hermes™ watch and some Prada™ boots.
LEVIATHAN
He's a YouTuber. He also streams every Friday and Saturday from 10pm-6am.
He liked to cosplay but now that he gets invited to gaming cons and events, he probably doesn't have much time to make a good cosplay up to his standards so he'd probably wearing Tanjiro's earrings one day and then his Naruto jacket the next.
Whenever he goes to concerts, it's a thing that fans secretly take pictures of him if they're near him and there's plenty of content of him drooling over Zaramela.
There's YouTube compliations of him going shy whenever someone is nice to him or someone attractive goes near him.
Because he games a lot, he probably would sweat a lot if he becomes concentrated. So whenever he'd brush his hair back or put it in a ponytail, his stans go feral.
Don't mess with his stans, they're the type to call and email anyone so you have your life ruined. But I promise they're usually soft stans.
He dresses like the gamer boy of your dreams tbh.
SATAN
He's a painter.
The next Picasso. Van Gogh. Monet. He has talent.
Many would say he could be an author cause he reads but I headcanon he could have synesthesia. So whenever he'd read a book and go over a specific scene, it'd inspire him to draw or paint something.
If he's stressed, he plays classical music and paints whatever the music says.
He was probably a college student when this happened and he had a lot of paintings he didn't know what to do with, so he just sold them or gave him away to charities under a fake name.
Like some Hannah Montana shit, he lived a double life for a couple months and then he got outed by some journalist that was supposed to keep up with him.
He gets invited to plenty of events and has painted for celebrities and politicians. Despite that, he's probably the least popular of his brother's but his stans are very dedicated to him and surprisingly there's rarely any fights within.
He has money but the most expensive his he owns is a watch and his car. More dad or nerdy boyfriend type look.
ASMODEUS
Triple Threat. Model, actor, singer.
He frequently goes on tour and drops albums. His music ranges so one album can help you explore your sexuality when his next album mostly focuses on who he truly is and so on.
Like Lucifer, he has plenty of awards. Probably has starred in one of his productions, too.
Has collaborated with NikkieTutorials, Rihanna and her Fenty collection, Beyonce, the biggest stars you could think of. Whether music or beauty.
Has his own fashion line as well as his own perfume collection and beauty products. A good percentage does go to charities and organizations like homeless college students or pro-lgbt groups.
Has YouTube compliations of men having gay panics over him.
Has been involved in many scandals and relationships, but many wind up false. Surprisingly. He is honest, so he does confirm if there was any chemistry between him and someone else.
His stans are more open and accepting, they don't really attack you or ruin your life but they can damage your self esteem for good.
They've also trended "#AsmoIsOverParty" just to promote a new project from him.
BEELZEBUB
He's an athlete.
There's plenty of videos of him with his shirt off and he may seem scary to many people, he's our big puppy.

Has the most fans. He's mentioned wanting a family and being family oriented before which probably caused his fan base to expand.
If you don't understand the sport, older stans would explain it for you. He also made a YouTube channel where he posts videos explaining how the game works and the positions. There's 5 videos, each video almost an hour long. He hasn't updated his channel since then.
Has also starred in Lucifers movies and usually does his own stunts.
He only wears expensive shoes as long as they last long or are comfortable for him. He also sometimes buys expensive athletic wear but majority of the time he doesn't check how expensive it is as long as he's comfortable.
Every week, he posts a video of himself working out or making a healthy and inexpensive meal to promote a healthier lifestyle.
BELPHAGOR
Music producer.
Despite being known to nap a lot or to be in his room a lot, it's usually because he spends a lot of time making beats and working on lyrics.
He's collaborated with plenty of artists but usually collaborates with Asmo.
Belphie also has his own music company which Asmo is under. Of course there's other producers in so he works alongside them and other artists and he usually makes his own music or adds back vocals to some songs.
If you find the back vocals within it, he's usually growling or moaning. His voice is deep but it's very soothing.
His stans usually send him letters or ask Asmo how he's doing or if he's eaten yet. He is very respected and his stans are FERAL. No mercy, absolutely ruthless.
Once had his mixtape "leaked" by Asmo and it was on the charts for a good while and broke a record or two. He doesn't like talking about it much but he does appreciate it.
He doesn't dress up much but whenever he does, it's like he's a different persona.

Section 1 – Who were you?
Think back as far as you can. What is the first memory you have? I think meeting my (now) dad for the first time when he and my mom were dating. I was very upset because he was short and that’s not what dads were supposed to look like in my 3 year old eyes since my bio dad was super tall.
What is something you remember enjoying very much as a small child? Playing Barbies, watching Barney, Happy Meals, being with my grandma.
How old were you, when you made your very first friend? Probably preschool.
Are you still friends with this person today? Facebook friends, yeah. Real friends, no.
Was there a story somebody read or told you that has stuck with you? No one ever read to me after I learned to read for myself so one day I was sick and I came home and curled up with my mom on the couch and asked her to read me a Little Mermaid book I had and she did, even though I had to get up to go shit myself halfway through and it meant a lot to me at the time.
What is something you get an immense feeling of nostalgia from? Hannah Montana for some reason. It was my favorite show and we didn’t get the Disney channel so whenever we went to a hotel, nobody could tell me fuckin NOTHING because we were watching Hannah Montana whether they liked it or not.
As a child, were you a sore loser or a sore winner? I was the only child for 8 years and then the oldest after that so I never lost at anything and now when I do, I feel like I'm the biggest piece of shit loser there’s ever been. So that’s fun.
Did you go through the "naked phase"? I learned that you didn’t have to sleep in pajamas and you could just sleep naked so I did it for a while but then realized that I much preferred pajamas.
Which television shows do you watch the most as a child? I loved TV so basically all of the 90′s/early 2000′s shows there were.
Did you play with siblings, neighbourhood kids or by yourself? Either with neighborhood/school kids or by myself. I didn’t ever really have siblings who weren’t my kids, if that makes sense.
Is there something you really miss from your childhood today? I miss back when everything was simple.
Section 2 – Likes and interests  
Would you ever like to try competitive pinball playing? Ummm, no.
Do you knit, crochet or cross stitch? I’m trying to teach myself to crochet.
Have you ever, or would you like to attend a gaming or comic convention? No thx.
What's your opinion on online multiplayer games? I really liked Among Us for a while there but I don’t really enjoy how rude everyone is on online games.
Do you like to go cycling? If so, where? Uh no.
Have you ever tried woodturning? If not, would you like to? Never tried it, don’t really have any desire to, but it can be relaxing to watch!
Do you enjoy drawing? If so, what do you usually draw? I do! I usually draw graphics for YouTube videos or doodle over Instagram photos, draw things to put on shirts with my Cricut, etc. I use my iPad for so many things.
Have you ever attended a painting class? If so, what did you create? I haven’t but I would like to!
How about a creative writing course? If so, did you get any feedback? I took Creative Writing literally every year it was offered in high school and I always got awards for having the top marks in the class.
What is your favourite form of exercise? No thank you.
Section 3 – People  
Who is the most important person in your life (besides yourself)? My husband.
Do people generally approach you easily? I think so!
Do you get along with people well? If not, what's the problem? Yeah! I’m pretty friendly and easy going.
Do you enjoy being in crowds or do you prefer your own company? I would much prefer my own company than crowds.
Which one of your friends have you known the longest? I still talk to the girl I was best friends with in the 6th grade on occasion so like 17-18 years?
Do you find it easy to make friends now? If not, what makes it difficult? As an adult who works from home, making friends is hard as fuck. 
What is something about people that annoys you? Something I've noticed in recent years is just how entitled and greedy everyone is. Everybody wants something from you or for your skills to benefit them without them putting in any work or paying you for your time. It’s just gross.
What is something about people that you really like? We have really, really harsh winters and if you ever find yourself in the ditch for whatever reason, there will be a lineup of cars stopped behind you to help you push it out or let you chill in their car while you wait for a tow truck. On the really bad blizzard days, there are groups of men in big trucks that literally L I V E to go around and help pull people’s cars out of the ditch. It’s the only time I feel like there’s actually a sense of community around here.
If you live alone, what would be your criteria for a roommate? I honestly would never have a roommate because they could either be your friend or a stranger and living with friends is a good way to ruin a friendship if your living styles aren’t similar and living with a stranger just sounds like a nightmare.
How about criteria for a spouse, if you're single? I am married but my criteria was honestly that I just wanted him to be kind and funny and I got that tenfold with my husband.
In general, what's your attitude towards people? I can’t stand to be around grumpy people. If all you do is gripe and complain about literally everything, I’m out. No thank you. Why is your hobby being angry? Take up knitting or something for christ’s sake.
Section 4 – Habits
What is something you do every day without fail? Baby talk the dog and snuggle with Beebs.
What is your typical breakfast? I’m a leftovers for breakfast kinda gal but lately I’ve been having a bagel and watermelon.
Which article of clothing do you like to wear the most? I loooove me a good baggy T-shirt and booty shorts.
Is there a TV show you watch habitually? We’re currently watching Unhhhh while we eat dinner every night, haha!
Where do you usually spend most of your day? I really only sit in 4 places--bed, the couch, my makeup/work desk, or my sewing desk. Depends on the day which one I’m at.
Is there a product that you do not want to run out of? Moisturizer. I’m a dry son of a bitch.
What is your preferred mode of transport? Car!
Do you usually have something playing in the background when you're home? Nah. I’m in silence a lot of the time.
Where do you usually get your groceries? Walmart for the bulk of it, a local grocery store for the specialty items, and Target if we ever run out of something midweek because I cannot handle Walmart more than once a week.
How often do you go to your local park? Like once or twice a month in the summer!
Which of your hobbies do you indulge in most often? Sewing and Sims currently!
Section 5 – Favourites and dislikes
What is your favourite fruit? Watermelon!
How about your favourite berry? Strawberries are the only berry I like.
Which food do you highly dislike? Fish. It’s all disgusting.
What is your favourite song, and why? I hate this question. Who can pick one definitive favorite song out of the bajillions of songs that have been written??
What is a movie you cannot stand? Anything with Seth Rogen in it, any movie that's got a 3+ after it (looking @ you, Fast & Furious), and all the fuckin’ superhero movies that have the same ‘ah yes, this undefeatable bad guy that we have absolutely no chance against and will undoubtedly kill us all--but we’re going to pull through at the last second with the power of friendship!’ plot line.
Which trait in a person do you find most appealing? I don’t know how to describe it--certain people just have that spark and you can always tell right away if they’ve got it or not and those are my favorite kind of people.
Which trait puts you instantly off? If they’re religious it’s an instant no from me, dog.
Who is an actor/actress who you dislike so much you can't watch them? I really, really dislike Tom Holland. I honestly think he’s a terrible actor.
What colour are your favourite shoes? White!
What is a smell that disgusts you to no end? B.O., on me or others. I just can’t deal with it.
Which door handle/door knob do you like the most in your home? They’re all the same.
Section 6 – Culture
What is something very typical to the culture of your home country? Apple pie and baseball are the only things coming to mind atm.
Do you enjoy art? If so, which form of art is the most enjoyable? I do! But I prefer art that you can look at and know the artist is incredibly gifted and/or has put in a ton of time and effort to master their skills. None of that million dollar paint smear on a canvas shit.
What is something about another country's culture you don't understand? I feel like other cultures take their family and their family’s approval way too seriously. That might be rich coming from someone who doesn’t have a very good relationship with their family but I just don’t understand what the point of making yourself miserable to make your family happy is.
Do you ever attend the theater? If so, which play did you see last? Last thing I saw in a theater was Shangela perform a drag show, haha!
How about the opera or the ballet? Nope.
Which dance troupe do you enjoy, if any? ...they still do that?
Do you attend concerts or gigs? If so, which band did you see last? Not as much as I’d like to as no one good really comes here very often. Last band we saw was X Ambassadors and Paramore!
Are you interested in foreign food? I’m not uninterested but I’m not super interested either.
If so, which country's cuisine do you enjoy the most? Chinese...albiet probably a very Americanized version of Chinese.
Do you enjoy stand-up comedy? If so, who is your favourite comic? I doooo! Bo Burnham and Drew Lynch are my favorites.
Do you contribute to culture in some way? If so, how? I try to? I’m an influencer so I definitely have a platform of a couple hundred thousand people. Not sure what exactly I contribute tho.

Do you donate money to any charities? If so, which ones? No. I don’t trust a lot of charities, to be quite honest. A lot of them are very shady and I’d rather donate money directly to someone who needed it rather than it getting tied up in a charity where it might never actually see the people they claim to be helping.
If you have pets, are any of them rescues from shelters? We adopted our dog from one of my husband’s coworkers but she probably would have gone to the shelter if we didn’t take her.
Do you donate your old clothes, linen etc. to charitable organizations? Yes! We almost always have a bag of donations in our trunk that we always forget to take to the thrift store when we go.
If someone you know is in need, is it in your nature to offer help? If I can, yes!
Have you ever donated Christmas presents to children of poor families? We used to do that when I was a kid.
Have you ever had to rely on other people's charity? One Christmas when I was really young I remember my parents signed up for a sponsorship through the Salvation Army where a family adopted us and bought us Christmas presents and Christmas dinner or whatever.
How do you feel about donating to charities endorsed by celebrities? I would never donate to a charity simply because it was sponsored by a celebrity but I guess its the easiest way for a charity to get the word out that they need donations.
Is there a charity you absolutely never ever will not trust? PETA, Salvation Army, Goodwill, and that breast cancer one with the horrible CEO.
Have you ever donated to a cause that had a person going door to door? No. I extra wouldn’t if someone came knocking on my door asking for money.
In general, what is your opinion on charity? I already did my rant about them, haha.
Section 8 – Entertainment
Which was the very first video game you remember playing? Ocarina of Time I believe!
Which was the very first film you remember watching? That I don’t remember. Maybe that Barney movie with the magic egg?
What is your go-to form of entertainment? TikTok usually.
Do you have a large collection of DVDs/Blu-Rays? Nah. We have a drawer but we usually stream everything.
How about music albums? Beebs collects vinyls!
Do you prefer to have your music on vinyls, tapes, CDs or digital? I prefer digital and Beebs likes vinyl.
When and where do you like to entertain yourself usually? Either the bed or the couch.
Do you ever binge watch shows? If so, what are you binging now? Usually! I’m sadly in between shows rn.
What kinds of books do you like to read, if any? I honestly don’t read anymore.
Is there a book series you're currently collecting? ..
Is entertainment something you prefer to enjoy alone or with someone else? I have my shows and then we have shows we watch together. So there’s a time and place for both!
Section 9 – Internet 
Do you always have access to the Internet, wherever you go? If not, why? Yup!
Which website do you frequent the most? Website website? Google. App website? Instagram or TikTok.
Which search engine do you prefer and trust the most? Googs.
What do you use the Internet the most for? Social media or entertainment.
Do you judge people who have their phones out all the time? If so, why? Random people? None of my business. But if we’re spending time together and I’m trying to have a conversation with you and you're not paying attention to me because your nose is glued to your phone, I’m gonna be pissed.
If your connection goes down, what do you do? Go do something that’s not on the internet?
Is there something you wish you could do online that isn't possible yet? I still wish you could smell things through the internet.
Do you remember the first time you used the Internet? When was it? Yes! I believe the 2nd/3rd grade?
What was a website you used to frequent that doesn't exist anymore? I loved the Disney website with all the games.
Do/Did you ever have your own website? That was the thiiiing back in the day.
Isn't it great how much knowledge and info we have at our fingertips? It’s great but also overwhelming.
Section 10 – And finally...
What is something you consider to be highly controversial? Politics, apparently.
What kinds of jokes do you like the best? I love a good pun.
Is there a person who makes you laugh effortlessly? Oh definitely.
Which part of your body do you like the least? My eyes.
What's something random, out of context you remember from your past? I don’t do well with really vague questions.
Do you wear shoes indoors? No, I’m not a heathen.
What's the silliest thing you've worn on your body in public? I don’t think I usually wear silly things.
What's the most important thing in your life right now? Just spending time with my fam. Trying to get over this anxiety.
What is the most distant point on the planet that you've been from home? Florida.
Do you enjoy trivia games? If so, which one's your favourite? We love some Trivial Pursuit in this house!
Are you more logical or emotional? My emotions take over and then my logic brings it back in. Equal parts, baby.

A Doorway is Opened (Chapter 2)

 It was June 2020 and progress was being made with plans to re-open film production - Keanu would soon be heading back to Germany to continue shooting the Matrix 4.  With the lock-down restrictions on meeting friends lifting, Keanu invited Hannah to dinner at his house. He even cooked - a dish of spaghetti with prawns, fresh tomato and lemon that his sister had taught him.  This would be their first meeting in 2 months and their last in 2 months due to the shooting schedule.  
After dinner, they went through to his living room and sat on the sofa to talk through the latest draft of the script.
 “So, you’re glad I pushed you on this aren’t you? Gave you something to do in lock-down huh?”
 “Yeah OK you win”, she laughed. “I’m grateful to you for giving me the confidence to try”  
 She carried on:
 “You know these past couple of months I’ve felt like the clouds have lifted, the clouds of grief …. and I know that’s partly just time passing but it’s also thanks to you and your friendship” she spoke in an almost whisper.  When she met his gaze he was blushing again!
 “The screenplay gave me a real focus for the first time since Mark died you know other than helping the boys and just putting one foot in front of the other”
 He nodded his understanding
 “I kind of feel like a plant coming back to life after a long dark winter”
 He smiled to think he’d helped her to loosen grief’s grip on her soul.
 “I heard a theory about this before. They said that your grief is always the same, the same size and just as painful but your life grows around it and cushions the pain”
 Keanu nodded his agreement
 “For me” he said, “sometimes my grief bursts forth like an alien from my chest when I least expect it. I hope we find a way to express your concept in the movie when it’s made -  I love it so much. You have some beautiful ways of explaining grief”
 “Well like I said, that one’s not mine, it’s just one I found that really resonated with me”
 “You’re too modest”
 They looked at each other. Somehow, the atmosphere had changed with the sharing of such deep feelings. Keanu looked at her, soft brown eyes holding hers for a few moments longer than felt comfortable. Suddenly he shook his head as if a shiver went through him
 “Where are my manners, would you like some more wine”
 “I better not, I’m driving and I’ve already had one glass” she said.
 “You could always sleep over, in the spare room I mean, I mean I’m not hitting on you or anything, not that I wouldn’t want to, oh God! ……….”
 By this point, Hannah had started laughing at his befuddlement and he started to giggle as well.
 “Sorry for being such a dork – could you stay though?” he beseeched her with his eyes,  or do you need to be back for the kids?, I know I sound like I’m begging, I kind of am I guess ……….. it would just be nice to talk some more ………. I mean what with we me going away for 2 months, Facetime just isn’t the same!”
 Hannah took pity on him and placed her hand on top of his and stroked it softly
 “1 I don’t need to be back for the boys, they’re at their grandparents this week and so 2, yes I could sleep over and 3 yes please, more wine!”
 Keanu beamed and leapt up to fetch the bottle from the kitchen.
“What were we talking about before I started being a total dork?!
 Hannah chuckled “oh grief, death, our usual cheery stuff!”
 “Oh yes, of course we were, what else is there after all?!”
 A ghost of a smiled showed on Hannah’s face.
 “Do you mind telling me some more about Mark? How long were you together”
 “Wow, over 30 years   - we were just kids when we met, literally in elementary school. But we didn’t go out until I was 17, nearly 18. I guess I kind of stalked him until he caved in!  We knew we were in love about a month in I guess and we got engaged whilst at uni but married just after. I was 23 so we had been married 27 years when he died”
 “Wow you were so young to be getting married!”
 “I know right! - when I think Toby is already nearly that age, it freaks me out big time.  Anyway, I guess you almost know the rest, from the book. We were lucky in so many ways to find each other and stay in love throughout.
 A comfortable silence fell as she reflected and wondered about his romantic history. She hoped their current intimacy meant it would be OK to ask.
 “What about you? Who have been your big loves, if it’s OK to ask”
 “Sure – I mean I think I can be confident of not seeing any of this in next week’s National Enquirer! Let me see, errrrm  there was Penny. She drove with me from Toronto to LA when I left there to pursue my career.  It wasn’t exactly serious - she knew how focussed on my acting I was, but she was special, my first steady girlfriend I guess.”
Keanu then told her about a few other steady girlfriends in the 80’s and early 90s. None of them had lasted beyond a year. Film and promotional schedules often overtook his time and took him away from LA making it hard to sustain relationships.
 “And then there was Jennifer. We had a long distance thing largely as I was away filming the first Matrix not long after we hooked up. I think that added in my head to the romance of it all. Writing her letters on my little typewriter after long days on set, posting them from thousands of miles away. Once I got back to LA things felt less sure, she was never confident in us, always needing reassurance and I think she found the celebrity thing both exciting and overwhelming - like she was part way a fan, partly my lover, you know? Then she got pregnant and everything changed”
 “Oh so Jennifer was the mother of your baby, the one who died?”
 Hannah knew this one fact about him but had steered away from looking stuff up on-line about it. She counted him as a friend now so if anything was to be shared, it had to come from him.
 “Yeah, Ava’s mother. 19 years ago…….so much water under the bridge.”
 “Do you think about her often now?”
 “Who? Jen or Ava?”
 “Both I guess”
 “Yeah sometimes. You know in a sliding doors type way, especially at Christmas. That’s when we lost Ava. Christmas Eve 1999. What about you, do you think about your lost babies?”
 “Yes sometime of course …….  but I think it’s different for me. My lost babies paved the way for Josh. If they’d lived, he wouldn’t be here, so I don’t mourn them as maybe you mourn your daughter, do you see? Of course I do think of them and every Christmas we’d hang stars and angels on the tree for them. That’s how we remembered them and the pain of their loss.”
 Hannah was quiet for a few moments, remembering
 “Do you have a way, a ritual to remember Ava? Do you and your family do something to remember her?”
 “I guess they always just try to make sure I’m not alone at Christmas. That’s threatened to happen a couple of times and then Brenda or Janey or Alexandra have stepped in you know to rescue me! Stop me embodying my meme!”
 “Your meme?”
 You know, “Sad Keanu”?
 “That one must have passed me by! I’ll get the boys to explain to their boomer mom!”
 “I’m so glad you’re a boomer mum as you say and not all over it when it comes to press and internet stuff about me. It’s refreshing. Makes me feel I can be me without all that stuff informing who you think I am. Sometimes it gets in the way with new people, you know? I know I can be myself around my old old friends like Alex (he was in Bill and Ted) and Rob (he was in the band with me)
 “Wait you were in a band?”
 “Yes back in the 90s, Dogstar. Our folk thrash punk band”
 “Sounds interesting – I clearly wasn’t paying enough attention back in the 90s!”
 “Well we weren’t exactly topping the charts so that would probably explain it!”
 “Can I hear some of your stuff?”
 “Sure”
 Keanu fetched some cds and had a look through to pick a song, going for  “And I Pray”.
 “Gosh, a man of many talents” she praised “what did you play?”
 “the bass”
 “Cool”
 “wanna listen to some more music? I can hook up my phone to the speakers and we can play things on Spotify”.
 “Sure, so you’re au fait with all the new tech? I took me ages to get there and I still have loads of cds and vinyl”
 “me too   - believe me I’m generally way behind the curve with technology but my god-daughter and my kid sister both played a role in bringing me into the 21st century”
They spent the next couple of hours, huddled on the sofa, scrolling through music choices on his phone and sharing both his and her favourites as well as reminiscing about bands they’d grown up listening to and great concerts they’d been to.
 It was around 1am, with Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” softly playing that Hannah’s head lolled onto Keanu’s shoulder, the impact startling her back awake
 “sorry, sorry” she said embarrassed
 “hey no worries, you wanna go to bed now?” he asked
 “Yeah, as you saw, my eyes are closing” 
 “Come on, let’s get you set up in the guest room, I’ve got a spare t-shirt you can sleep in if you like and there’s a new toothbrush in the en-suite with your room.
 The room was a pretty one, perhaps decorated with his god-daughter in mind she thought. Once he’d shown her where things were and how to work the shower, Keanu bade her goodnight with a light kiss on her cheek. Despite being so tired, it took Hannah a good half hour to fall asleep. She touched the cheek where he’d kissed her and giggled inwardly at herself for feeling like a giddy teenager. In the past 2 months, she’d recognised her growing fondness for Keanu, putting it down to a mix of absence making the heart grow fonder and the Covid crisis making her susceptible. She’d found him very attractive way before she met him but she certainly hadn’t expected that he would reciprocate those nascent feelings. Tonight his lingering gaze as they talked about grief, his befuddlement trying to get her to stay and his soft goodnight kiss all made her wonder and maybe even hope. Tomorrow was another day.

Art Industry and Equality
The Artist Industry, an industry that lets self-expression come out in a number of mediums. 
As an Artist myself, i can tell you how wonderful it has been to have a creative outlet like my multimedia. To express my ideas and watch the momentum of my work turn into something special. As many other Artists, it’s hard to find that validation and legitimacy in the industry that defines you as a professional and makes your career into more than a ‘hobby’. Some find that struggle more intense than others.
The idea that ‘All Artists have to struggle’ is a common ideology but beyond that- do all artists struggle in the same ways? Of course not. This could be combated with a number of different perspectives based off of different talent levels and different environments but commonly, artists are not given the same opportunities based off of more than just their talent. Different aspects come into play. 
The Artist Industry has been known for their inclusive atmosphere and supportive community, but is it set apart from any other industry when it comes to addressing equality issues? 
Misogyny/Trans-Misogyny , unequal opportunities based on gender, lack of recognition and the power struggle of legitimacy have all played their part in work industries all over- and the artist industry doesn’t escape that narrative.
A common theme that i find more than any other is women, queer, non-binary, and Fem artists struggle to find their power behind their art because they are usually dismissed, deemed illegitimate, or seen as ‘just a hobby’, or they could ‘make it a real job someday’. Their work isn’t given the credit it deserves or the recognition of legitimate work. Opportunities are missed quite often as work lays in favor of social stigmas and safe investments in uncomplicated people seem to flourish regularly. 
Stewing over my thoughts on this, I reached out to my social media circle looking for more perspective on the situation. I was able to connect with a couple of people, ask them their thoughts on how these aspects of the industry have affected them on a professional level and their influence on the industry . I want to keep the dialogue going about this and would love to hear more about the perspective of women, queer, fem, non-binary artists on the industry that claims to be so inclusive.  
With that being said, I had a great opportunity to talk with the Founder of ‘Siren Nation’.       *
Diving into ‘Siren Nation’ media, I came across their ‘LinkedIn’ page. Their Mission Statement spoke to me and left me wanting to dig just a bit deeper into the foundation of their cause.
“Siren Nation is a unique arts organization that showcases and creates performance and exhibition opportunities for women throughout the year. We are the only women’s collective that produces an annual festival showcasing the original work of women working in music, film, performance and visual art.
Siren Nation’s mission is to inspire and empower women of all ages to create their own art and to highlight the many achievements of women in the arts.”
When I was connected with Natalia Kay O’brien, I didn’t know much about Siren Nation or where our conversation would lead too. I had an idea of where i wanted to take this project, not having much more than a foundation and urgency to keep learning more about the perspectives of women identifying, queer and non-binary.
So, I asked if she’d be willing to help me out by telling her story and giving us an insight on her perspective of the industry.
Natalia:
I'd be super happy to help! There's an amazingly rich queer music scene in Portland and the Pacific Northwest. That is a big part of the reason I moved out here!
From 1999-2010 i produced a lot of events that centered queer folx -some from out of town, some in town.
Jay:
Awesome! I appreciate that a lot about Portland and the PNW. I've grown up in Portland most of my life.
Natalia:

Jay:
What are some of the events that you produced?
Natalia:
I started out doing house concerts for a spoken word artist out of NYC, then booking shows for/with traveling queer female artists i got connected with over time. I ended up doing the booking for mississippi pizza for a couple of years and got some more experience there producing shows--generally national folk acts--and booking artists. That helped me begin to get more familiar with the local music scene and get introduced to some amazing artists like Laura Gibson, long before they broke out. 
My experience and frustration, with the local music scene's dearth of female and queer presence and opportunities to get the kind of exposure that festivals offer, inspired me to found Siren Nation, an organization dedicated to promoting and empowering women artists.
As a queer woman I made sure that there was a strong queer presence during my tenure. We were supposed to have ‘Gossip’ headline the first festival and 3 weeks beforehand they broke their contract!
The seven years I spent with Siren Nation exposed me to new queer artists. Unfortunately, at that time, there was no such thing (in terms of identity) as nonbinary, and we didn't put enough effort into be trans inclusive. We produced, and they still do, 2 tribute nights, one for dolly parton, one for billie holiday, that have been happening annually for something going on 15 years! and then the annual festival, in november, which i produced from 2007-2010. 
Jay:
That's absolutely awesome that you contributed so much to the queer/fem community. I know how intensely hard it can be to demand that recognition and be seen as legitimate in the eyes of the world. It's no small thing. Can you give me an example of a time where you’ve experienced misogyny/trans-misogyny that directly affected your work as an artist?
Natalia:
I was tired of not seeing enough women and women-fronted acts on local festival lineups when there were SO MANY amazing female bands. My work as an artist (visual) has been almost entirely a private endeavor. however i do think there is a correlation between the fact that i considered my drawing 'doodling' and i'm a woman. I made art for years before I took on the identity and claimed it. I still squirm a little.
Jay:
I can totally understand that. I deeply feel like the accomplishments of women are often made out to be 'A nice hobby' or 'could be a job someday.'
Natalia:
Yes, exactly.
I can tell you as a booking agent for queer female artists in an industry that is heavily male, did not make for the most hospitable environment to work in. Getting club bookers to book an artist whose press kit screams 'radical feminist lesbian" let alone that she was doing spoken word which was just emerging...well, ultimately all they cared about was whether we could fill a room. There were some venues that didn't want to deal with us, in more conservative parts of the country, i.e. midwest and southeast.
I think trans-misogyny was unfortunately a little baked into Siren Nation in the sense that trans women have remained almost invisible within that space. Not enough queers involved with siren nation after I left!
So I tackled showcasing as many media as possible--music, film, visual arts and later fashion and comedy.”
Jay:
That's a powerful tool in today's world too. Being someone who is involved in a variety of media ( myself as well) is a powerful weapon to today's world of perspective. We have a lot more influence than people credit us for. Have you been affected by any people that are positive influencers in the queer community/have given inspiration to you personally?
Natalia:
The artists inspire me!! That's part of why I produced events because I truly believe in the artists and want to help them connect with a larger audience and want people to get exposed! Bands like Team Dresch, who really blazed trails for queer women punks, all around the country at a time when there was virtually no queer presence in media. Beth Ditto and Gossip, for being fearlessly brash, unashamedly fat, and a force! Women who were unafraid to be loud when it wasn't the norm yet--Sleater Kinney, Bikini Kill too!--inspired me and they were tackling issues that I cared about as a feminist in ways that I didn't see straight women doing.
I will never ever forget seeing Bikini Kill and Kathleen Hannah telling all the 'boys to go to the back'. It blew my mind having stopped moshing b/c it wasn't safe and she demanded and created that space
Jay:
I can definitely vouch for queer punk artists being a heavy influence in the queer community and causing pressure on 'social norms'! It's very empowering and the women in the scene are not a force to be reckoned with. It's still astonishing how such a positive and empowering movement got met with so much resistance.
Natalia:
Kinda like what I wanted to do with Siren Nation. Yeah, some people can't handle a strong woman especially if she is in any way not gender/hetero conforming.
Jay:
I'm sure Siren Nation impacted a lot of people to be the ferocious and powerful people they knew they were.
Natalia:
I hope so!! I know it was a space where, for example, at the tribute shows, artists got to meet and mingle backstage, and spontaneous collaborations would happen.
Jay:
That's the best part of festivals in general. Bring artists from all over and to create that opportunity for networking and creativity.
Natalia:
Right!??!
Practically every female artist who has broken out nationally performed at Siren Nation at some point and offering free workshops was an important way for us to empower and encourage women to create and make their own art.
Jay:
That's awesome! Does Siren Nation still have a website that I can reference too?
Natalia:
Yup! Sirennation.org
As an audience, I found festivals an amazing opportunity to get exposed to new artists.
Most of the language there that is about the organization, like mission statements and values, is mine.
Jay:
So why have you decided not to produce events for Siren Nation more recently? or does the organization take care of itself nowadays?
Natalia:
I left in 2010 because i was pursuing a masters degree, basically decided to pour all the hours and energy i had put into siren nation into a degree that would get me a salary for doing that kind of work. My co-founder December Carson has stayed at the helm and kept it going all these years. There are some longtime volunteers who help at events.
My dream that someday it could be a salaried job I finally realized was not going to be feasible
Jay:
That's a positive transition out of the organization tho! Did you get your master's degree?
Natalia:
Yes! It helped to know that it would carry on after I left, because it was my baby and I was very attached!  It has thrived over the years due to the dedication of the board members who make it happen. New blood comes in, and then they add fashion and comedy. It's been neat to see how it has evolved over the years and yes, I got my Masters, in Public Administration.
Jay:
That's so so so good to hear   Thank you so much for talking with me today- you have really been insightful and this is truly very inspirational to hear as a queer woman in the multimedia industry!
With ending our conversation, I felt like I made a breakthrough on what direction I wanted to take this project and found the encouragement to keep pushing through the media and highlight these amazing women, non-binary, and queer people. 
We lack recognition for being who we are while we make it in this industry. We struggle and fight back - gaining ground and getting traction. 
I’m excited to see where this project takes me and I'm glad to have you all on this journey. Stay alert for more to come!
