PLEASE elaborate on “davidelizabeth in alien covenant if i wrote it” they squandered her potential so bad !
okay so first all i have already talked about how i feel that covenant should have built on the sticky psychosexual gothic horror tension between david and shaw and developed it into a toxic codependent dynamic (that predictably ends poorly due to their fundamentally opposing ideological stances as well as one-sided obsession on david's side), so i'm going to attach that rather than rehash it.
but honestly if i'd written covenant i would have had elizabeth survive david long enough to establish herself on the engineer planet in hiding from him (following a "breakup" caused by his act of genocide), and have the arrival of the colonists in covenant be the catalyst that forces them to confront each other again and finish what they started. i'm not entirely certain of the specifics, but i think there's a lot you could do with the central themes of alien as a cosmic/existential horror (a story about horrifying revelations, terrible change and progress/evolution that is unrecognisable as anything but nightmarish to the human minds bearing witness), a body horror narrative focused on sexual assault, pregnancy and childbirth/parenthood, and an examination of extraterrestrial horror as this colonial mindset - the fear of being violently replaced by something that deems itself better than you and works ruthlessly to eradicate you from your places of safety which it has taken for its own - as well as the more prometheus-specific themes of parental trauma and religion (mostly christianity) by making the core conflict between david and his xenomorphs and elizabeth and humanity, like a sort of fucked up retelling of adam and eve in the garden of eden.
to tie up loose ends, since prometheus and covenant are meant to be prequels to the original alien films, i'd probably have elizabeth succeed in being the final girl (a parallel to ripley in the original franchise) but tragically go into self-imposed exile/die alone in an attempt to prevent the xenomorphs from being stumbled across by future explorers and becoming a threat again, as well as possibly out of some warped sense of guilt, both for having allowed herself to ever love david and believe him capable of change, and for failing to save him ("save" very much in the biblical sense, as in persuade him to share her point of view and abandon his descent down a dark path). needless to say, she doesn't succeed, making her "victory" all the more phyrric.

Hey! I'm David Peterson, and a few years ago, I wrote a book called Create Your Own Secret Language. It's a book that introduces middle grade readers to codes, ciphers, and elementary language creation. The age range is like 10-14, but skews a little bit older, as the work gets pretty complicated pretty quick. I think 12-13 is the best age range.
Anyway, I decided to look at the Amazon page for it a bit ago, and it's rated fairly well (4.5 at the moment), but there are some 1 star reviews, and I'm always curious about those. Usually they're way off, or thought the book was going to be something different (e.g. "This book doesn't teach you a thing about computer coding!"), but every so often there's some truth in there. (Oh, one not 1 star but lower rated review said they gave it to their 2nd grader, but they found it too complicated. I appreciate a review like that, because I am not at all surprised—I think it is too complicated for a 2nd grader—and I think a review like that is much more effective than a simple 10+ age range on the book.) The first 1 star rating I came to, though, was this:

Now calling a completely mild description of a teenage girl who has a crush on another girl controversial is something I take exception to, but I don't want to pile on this person. Instead I wanted to share how this section came to be in the book.
The book is essentially divided into four parts. The first three parts deal with different ciphers or codes that become more complicated, while the last part describes elementary language creation. The first three sections are each built around a message that the reader can decode, but with language creation, the possibilities are too numerous and too complicated, so there isn't an example to decode, or anything. It would've been too difficult.
For what the messages to decode are about, though, I could do, potentially, anything, so at first I thought to tie them into a world of anthropomorphic animals (an ongoing series of battles between cats and mice), with messages that are being intercepted and decoded. My editor rejected that. Then I redid it so that each section had an individual story that had to do with some famous work of literature. My editor rejected that as well. He explained that it needed to be something that was relevant to kids of the target age range. I was kind of at a loss, for a bit, but then I thought of a story of kids sending secret messages about their uncle who eats too many onions. I shared that, my editor loved it, and I was like, all right. I can do this.
The tough part for me in coming up with mini-stories to plan these coded messages around was coming up with a reason for them to be secret. That's the whole point of a code/cipher: A message you want to be sure no one else but the intended recipient can read in case the message is intercepted. With the first one, two kids are poking gentle fun at a family member, so they want to be sure no one else can read what they're writing. For the last one, a boy is confessing to a diary, because he feels bad that he allowed his cat to escape, but no one knows he did it (he does find the cat again). For the other, I was trying to think of plausible message-sending scenarios for a preteen/teen, and I thought of how we used to write notes in, honestly, 4th and 5th grade, but I aged it up a bit, and decided to have a story about a girl writing a note to her friend because she has a crush on another girl, and wants her friend's opinion/help.
Here's where the point of sharing this comes in. As I had originally written it, the girl's note to her friend was not just telling her friend about her crush, it was also a coming out note, and she was concerned what her parents would react poorly.
Anyway, I sent that off with the rest of my draft, and I got a bunch of comments back on the whole draft (as expected), but my editor also commented on that story, in particular. Specifically, he noted that not every LGBTQ+ story has to be a coming out story, the part about potential friction between her and her parents because of it was a little heavy for the book, and, in general, not every coming out story has to be traumatic.
That was all he said, but I immediately recognized the, in hindsight, obvious truth of all three points, and I was completely embarrassed. I changed it immediately, so that the story beats are that it's a crush, she's not sure if it'll be reciprocated, and she's also very busy with school and band and feels like this will be adding even more busy-ness to her daily life as a student/teen. Then I apologized for making such a blunder. My editor was very good about it—after all, that's what drafts and editors are for—and that was a relief, but I'm still embarrassed that I didn't think of it first.
But, of course, this is not my lived experience, not being a member of the LGBTQ+ community. This is the very reason why you have sensitivity readers—to provide a vantage point you're blind to. In this case, I was very fortunate to have an editor who was thinking ahead, and I'm very grateful that he was there to catch it. That editor, by the way, is Justin Krasner.
One reason I wanted to share this, though, is that while it always is a bit of a difficult thing to speak up, because there might be a negative reaction, sometimes there is no pushback at all. Indeed, sometimes the one being called out is grateful, because we all have blindspots due to our own lived experiences. You can't live every life. For that reason, your own experience will end up being valuable to someone at some point in time for no other reason than that you lived it and they didn't. And, by the by, this is also true for the present, because the lives we've lived cause us to see what's going on right before our eyes in different lights.
Anyway, this is a story that wouldn't have come out otherwise, so I wanted to be sure to let everyone know that Justin Krasner ensured that my book was a better book. An editor's job is often silent and thankless, so on Thanksgiving, I wanted to say thank you, Justin. <3

Musings on OFMD Season 2
I’m feeling a bit sad today for the OFMD writers. After rewatching S1 & 2 a couple times, it’s become blatantly clear to me that Izzy’s arc this season was a very obvious love letter to both Izzy fans & the great Con O’Neil. Izzy was very clearly written to be an obstacle to Ed’s healing & personal growth, a snare that Ed needed to be freed from, albeit with plenty of nuance hiding under the surface. It would have been much easier for them to kill Izzy off while he was still the toxic, abusive, sadomasochistic terror of S1E10.
Instead of taking the easy route, though, the writers flipped the trope on its head! They utilized every bit of the potential buried beneath Izzy’s super fucked up shell. This season Izzy got
• a fully fleshed out redemption complete with terrible consequences of his 1x10 actions
• a realization of the possibility of another way of thinking & existing that he’d spent all of S1 running from & trying to destroy,
• genuine love & support from his crew mates which he was actually able to accept,
• exploration of the long abandoned softer side of his nature,
• an apology from Ed w/o first offering one of his own,
• a powerful, devastatingly poignant speech that mentally demolished a new nemesis, and finally
• a beautiful, meaningful death in the arms of the man he’d dedicated so much of his life to, known that he was truly loved by him & completely accepting of the fact that Ed’s love was not in the form he’d always hoped for.
It was so much more than we could have hoped for, and was very obviously done in service to the MANY fans that had fallen in love with Izzy even after S1, as well as to give Con a storyline worthy of his immense talent. Considering the face that Izzy was never going to end up becoming the show’s third protagonist, it was more than we could have hoped for!
OFMD has two protagonists, Stede & Ed. All the secondary character narratives that haven’t directly involved Ed and/or Stede have been icing on the cake, but the cake has always been the Gentlebeard love story. I feel like some people forget this, expecting them to treat the secondary characters as if it were an ensemble show instead of a show with leads.
Izzy’s arc really was an amazing gift! The writers gave us this incredible journey for Izzy this season, and what did a disgraceful number of people do? They attacked David directly, insulted the entire show, the writers, & other characters, even wishing actual harm & misery to other characters or even to David himself!
While I know that comparatively speaking, the percentage of show fans who reacted this way was relatively small, it was still an astounding amount of hatred & vitriol thrown at the people who had obviously worked very hard to give Izzy fans something beautiful to hold on to after his inevitable death. Much of the discourse honestly shocked me, considering the fact that OFMD isn’t even an adaptation of another work.
When fans get angry at shows written as adaptations of books, it’s a bit more understandable for them to have extreme reactions. They’ve had certain ideas and headcanons about characters they’ve felt very strongly about for a long time. It can be really jarring & painful when expectations like that aren’t met, the characters or plots are taken in totally different directions, or even excluded entirely.
OFMD, however, is an original creation. This is David Jenkins’s story. These are David Jenkins’s characters. He knows his story, his plotlines, his characters far better than anyone else does because they came from HIS brain! So while we as fans can have our own interpretations & head canons, they are always going to be at risk of being proven totally wrong by the ACTUAL canon.
One of the worst aspects of fandoms, in my opinion, is the way people become so proprietary over the story & characters, insisting that their own interpretations & theories are the only correct ones, which is exactly what happened with Izzy. Fans’ individual & collective interpretations, theories, hopes, & other head canons became concrete & true in their minds. So much so that when the actual story didn’t meet those expectations, so many of them lashed out in some truly unpleasant, sometimes hateful ways.
My only hope is that the rest of the fandom’s love, appreciation, constructive criticism, heartbreak, pain, joy, & excitement has been enough to drown out the deluge of vitriolic comments directed at David & the other writers.

Some various lighthearted life updates 🏃‍♀️
It's been a very busy last few months! in a good way mostly. We had a friend visiting us from overseas so we showed him around the city and took him to all our favourite places. We also met new people and were invited to a bunch of events so it's been very fun! We are all out of social battery tho so now we are slowing down a bit and getting back to work. Nicolas is on a short work trip to Berlin and I'm back to painting. We also started running! aaand we are also back to watching a bunch of shows and to me talking about it here to like five people 😌

We finished watching S13 of Doctor Who! (we still have the specials to go but after that we are all caught up!) I haven't updated in ages so here are lot of opinions!
We really did not enjoy S11 😞 I was aware it wasn't very popular but we were hoping it was for all the wrong reasons, sadly we found many to be valid. Some of the episodes were baffling, Rosa? Kerblam?! the writing of the whole season in general felt like a rushed school assignment. The first part of Spyfall was a strong start for the next season but that ending in the second part was really not it. We did love Sacha Dhawan's Master tho!! and we really love Jodie too, 13th is adorable and reminded us of Ten at times! Jodie is such a fantastic actress that it makes the quality of the writing and everything else around her even more frustrating 😫 S12 was an improvement in general. In the last few episodes It felt like the writing team suddenly remembered the companions could have a personality and agency lmao. Highlights for us were Spyfall one, Fugitive of the Judoon and Haunting of villa Diodati, tho we did also enjoy most other episodes of the season despite their issues.
The timeless child plot reveal felt a bit underwhelming? The idea on itself has potential but it felt mishandled (and it had a bit of a Moffat flavour to it? and not in a good way). I think it was meant to add more depth to the Doctor's lore but in a way it ends up having the opposite effect. Then the flux was just a complete mess. It read like a Marvel sort of plot, very comic book like which is alright I suppose if that is something you enjoy but it felt out of place. But mostly it was just way too much, it got out of hand. Anyway we still have the specials to watch! and I think the Master is in them so we are looking forward to it 🥰
We also watched Broadchurch!! and we LOVED it. We ended up binging all three seasons. Chibnall's writing on this is surprisingly great and Jodie's acting is spectacular she really shines here. Olivia and David are always brilliant!! honestly everyone's acting was amazing. This series had us both tearing up every five scenes. The direction and the music are outstanding. I could watch Hardy and Miller solve crimes forever I really love their chemistry and dynamic. We went into it expecting the usual detective fiction but it ended up being a whole study on grief with such a focus on family and community and trauma and a ton of touching interconnected character arcs, just really really good!!
Then we also watched Taking over the Asylum!! MAN we were not expecting to have our hearts wrung out like laundry by this!! We thought it was a lighthearted show!! GOD we are still not over it, what the fuck!! It was so good we loved it!! but we were not prepared lmao what do you mean 'the end'?? we'll be thinking of this for months, I was expecting an extra scene after the credits or something. Excellent characters, refreshing depictions of mental illness and trauma and so crushingly realistic. Every character is so loveable I really wish this was longer 😭
And our quest to watch everything with David Tennant on it continues. We watched Decoy Bride on Valentines day too and it was terrible but such a hilarious fever dream kind of bad that it was fun, it has David on it and he never disappoints. I feel so lucky that Nicolas and I are both in love with him, get yourself a man who shares your celebrity crushes lmao it's so fun!! We feel like teens again chatting about him and drawing little hearts next to his pictures haha 🥰 We watched the BAFTAs just for him and speaking of the baftas!! I was not expecting that last drawing of his outfits to get that much attention oh my god 😭 thank you!! you are all insane and I appreciate it so much!! and thank you for all the support in general, about my art and photos and just everything. I feel very lucky and grateful 😭 anyway I'll end this before I get sappy, that is all for now! I hope this week is kind to you all, I'll be sharing some more art soon 😊

crying in a puddle on the floor every time i think about how the next camp camp episode is most likely the last, but honestly, the most enjoyment i've gotten out of this show is through the fandom.
dadvid takes up way too much of my thoughts but if you really think about it the only Real dadvid content we've gotten is david favoring max, learning that max's parents are probably neglectful, and max hugging david when he says he has a right to be mad about it.
the reason camp camp has been so important to me for so many years is because of the dadvid fics and fanart people have made, the analyzing of the tiniest moments, the speculation and theorizing.
the show itself has so much potential to fill in those theories but in general it actually has very little to it.
just a few questions i can think of off the top of my head: who are max's parents? what was david actually like as a kid (because we only see him through the lens of a story told to kids)? was he like max? is jasper forever stuck on the island? does david really know about jasper's death? what happened after the summer ended and max went back home? did he talk to nikki or neil at all? when the summer ended why didn't david do anything about the fact that max was going home to neglectful parents? if david never had a dad, what happened to david's dad, who's his mom?
like ??? that is so much potential for an amazing story and i could write so much more!! that's why fan art and writing is in my opinion the main source of the shows excellence because it builds off what cc could have been.

Tim has only been given one canon birthday. He turned 16 on July 19th in Robin Vol. 2 #116 (cover date Sep 2003).

Jason turned 18 on August 16th in Detective Comics #790 (March 2004). This is his only canon birthday.

In post-Crisis/preboot (1986-2011) continuity, there was a gap of six months between when Jason died and when he was resurrected (Batman Annual 25). Jason died April 27th according to his death certificates in Batman Annual 25 and Batman Files 2011, so he would’ve resurrected near late October.

So, it could be that post-resurrection Jason is biologically 6 months younger than he chronologically should be. But honestly, do we even really know what multiverse-breaking resurrection punches and then a Lazarus Pit on top of that do to someone’s body??? Either way it’s just much more simple to just use his chronological age.
Cassandra Cain
Much like Tim and Jason, Cass has only ever been given one birthdate: January 26th from Batgirl Vol. 1 #33. With that birthday, she turned 18 in Batgirl Vol. 1 #37.

When Jan 26th actually comes, Bruce suggests David Cain could’ve lied about it, but Cass denies that idea and continues to treat the day as her birthday.

Why it's likely her real birthday: Bruce initially believes Cain must’ve lied because he doesn’t think Cain could’ve known her birthday. However, we later learn Cain had lied about her origins and was actually her biological father. Batgirl v1 #62 and #73 show he was there for her birth and could absolutely know the date.
On top of that, in Batgirl #37 Cass remembers celebrating her birthday with him as a child, so he did seem to actually keep track of it. I honestly don’t see any reason to believe he’d lie (Bruce is just a jealous spoilsport).
Helena Bertinelli + Wayne
I’m combining them here because the New 52 gives me a headache.
Helena Bertinelli celebrated her birthday on February 14th in a spin-off comic from the animated Batman: The Brave and the Bold series. This is obviously not part of regular comics continuity and the characters differ from the usual comics in many ways. And yet, for reasons that will soon be clear, it’s my favorite for actually being about Helena Bertinelli the Huntress and for not being an utter mess.

In a character profile at the end of Infinity Inc. #7 (Oct 1984), Helena Wayne’s birthday was September 7th, 1959. Calculating back from October 1984, that would make her 25 at the time.
During the New 52, Helena Bertinelli was initially portrayed as a long-dead (secretly alive but don’t worry about it) mobster’s daughter and replaced by Earth-2’s Helena Wayne who got stranded on Prime Earth. This H. Wayne stole H. Bertinelli’s identity in the form of several forged passports and IDs, which had hints toward birthdates. The question is, can we take any of those birthdates seriously, and if so, which birthdates and for which character? (Cue my headache.)
Skip ahead to Dick if overthinking fake passports sounds boring.
When comparing to a real Italian passport, the date on H. Wayne’s fake Italian passport appears to be a birthdate. Note that the fake name is Carol Bertinelli, not Helena. H. Wayne said her IDs were inspired by H. Bertinelli but clearly she’s taking liberties for the IDs so that’s a point toward these being useless for H. Bertinelli birthdays.

Huntress Vol. 3 #1 (Dec 2011)
I don’t recognize the month abbreviation as a real abbreviation, but from the visible letter O I’m going to assume it means October. If it is, then the date is 20 October 1985. Sidenote: a 1985 birthdate during 2011 could put her age at about 26, which is actually quite close to how old she could’ve been based on pre-Flashpoint! 1985 has been given as Helena Wayne’s death year before, so it’s an interesting choice of a birth year for her. (Thanks to DC’s sliding timescale, though, birth years don’t actually mean anything in the comics.)
They don’t show her complete US passport, but I can see a “22” in line where the day of the month should be for her birthdate. This already contradicts the previous passport. This one uses Helena Bertinelli’s actual name, though–does that make it more relevant than the Carol one or this all still ridiculous because of the discrepancies?

Worlds’ Finest Vol. 1 #1 (Jul 2012)
We can try to glean the US passport birth month from the passport number at the bottom. The first two digits (“12” here) indicate the agency that issued the passport. 12 means the Honolulu agency. Right after “USA” is supposed to be the birthdate plus an extra number, in the order of year/month/day with the year being the last two digits of a year. Here we encounter another problem. It says 810228. This would imply her birthdate is 1981/02/28. That’s February 28, 1981. Since the earlier line indicated her birthday fell on a 22nd, this already contradicts itself.

Interpreting a Machine Readable Zone (MZR) on a Machine Readable Travel Document (MRTD)
However, I’d bet comic writers and artists aren’t always well versed in passport numbers (it’s already a stretch for me to bother checking it…). If they put the extra digit before the birthdate instead after, and the date is formatted month/day/year (the most common format in American English, so probably their first instinct), then we can drop the first 8 and it’s 10/22/8[?] with the last digit unknown. This would put her birthday as October 22, sometime in the 1980s. The 22 matches the earlier line, the October might match the previous passport if that really did say October (but contradicts the 20th), and the 1980s year could be 1985 to match the Italian passport.
At the end of the day I’m personally just going to let Helena Bertinelli be a Valentine’s born baby and call it a day, unless/until she gets a better one in the comics. For Helena Wayne I’d easily pick September 7th.
(My question is: did they give the crossbow vigilante a Valentine’s birthday as a Cupid joke??)
Dick Grayson
Dick has probably had the most birthdays of everyone (unless Bruce has more I don’t know about). All of them have their drawbacks.
In a main comics continuity, his most popular and most recent is “the first day of spring” so probably March 20th. This comes from Robin Annual 4 when his mom says she calls him Robin because he was born on the first day of spring. That presents some problems since there are other explanations given for the origin of “Robin,” including that his mom said he was “always bobbin’ along” (Dark Victory #12, page 17) or the original inspiration of Robin Hood (Detective Comics #38, p3).

Before that, in Secret Origins Vol. 2 #50 (Aug 1990), Marv Wolfman wrote a version of Dick’s origins where Dick turned 10 a week before his parents died on Halloween. That would make his birthday October ~24th (presuming that “a week” before Halloween literally means 7 days here).

The first drawback of the October birthday is that it’s tied to Dick being 10 when his parents die on Halloween. Dick’s age and the date his parents die change a lot depending on the writer (Nightwing Vol. 1 #1 says his parents died June 27th, Dark Victory #8-9 says May, etc.). The second drawback is that few people remember this version of his birthday even exists.
Dick’s birthday is November 11th in Super DC Calendar 1976. Note: Despite being a non-diegetic calendar from almost 50 years ago, this source remains well known and used among comic enthusiasts (including those working at DC). Generally, I would say it should mainly apply just to pre-Crisis continuity, but it is also useful for characters that haven’t gotten updated birthdays ever since (like Roy Harper, Barbara Gordon, or Selina Kyle, for example).

Super DC Calendar 1976
Sidenote: Since Damian doesn’t have a canon birthday, November 11th is favorite to steal for my own fan canon Damian birthday. Dick has plenty birthdays to share and I think it’s cute. @ DC, give Damian and Steph birthdays, they’ve been birthday-less for decades!
Indeed, DC writer Tim Sheridan and editor Mike Cotton debated whether Dick’s birthday was in March or November. They favored March 20th and wrote a birthday scene in Teen Titans Academy #1 (published March 23rd, 2021). The publishing time near Dick’s birthday was intentional, though the date isn’t mentioned within the comic itself.

The above birthdays were all meant to apply to a main comics continuity at some point. However, Earth-16, better known as the animated Young Justice universe (therefore outside of main comics continuity), says YJ Dick’s birthday is December 1st.

Unlike Helena Bertinelli, Dick has plenty of comics birthdays to choose from, so personally I’ll only count Dec 1st as being the birthday for YJ animated/Earth-16 Dick Grayson until or unless it’s ever mentioned to apply to main comics continuity.
Barbara Gordon
Super DC Calendar 1976 says Barbara’s birthday is September 23rd.

Since then, the only time I recall her birthdate hinted at is in Secret Origins #20 when her adoptive mom says her birthday is in the fall. This could support her birthday being September 23rd.

Although she has celebrated her birthday on panel since then (the end of Nightwing Vol. 2 #153), she hasn’t been given any other actual birthdate. So I’ll keep September 23rd and call it a day.
Selina Kyle
Super DC Calendar 1976 says Selina’s birthday is March 14th. Once again, although it hasn’t been mentioned within a comic, it’s stuck around in popular consciousness (see: Catwoman actress Zoë Kravitz wishing Selina a happy birthday on March 14th).

Selina celebrated a birthday on panel in Catwoman (2002) #37 but the date was never mentioned. I don’t know of any other reference to her birthday, but my reading of Selina is thus far more sparse than my reading of the others.
Kate Kane
Kate’s birthday options all come from outside of the comics themselves.
In “An Un-Birthday Present,” season 1 episode 11 of Batwoman, a parallel version of her twin Beth had a driver’s license showing her date of birth as January 26, 1990. She and Kate later celebrated their birthdays on an episode aired Jan 26th, 2020. I don’t keep up with live action DC shows so I unfortunately can’t offer a screenshot (if anyone has one or the timestamp, please let me know!).
(I kinda wonder if somebody looked up Batwoman’s birthday for these episodes, saw Batgirl’s (Cass’s) birthday, and just ran with it. Batwoman and a Batgirl sharing a birthday is just. Ughhh.)
In 2012, one of her comic writers tweeted to choose a random date for her birthday and picked March 21st, which so far as I know has never been used as her birthday in comics.

Bruce Wayne
Bruce’s most popular birthday is February 19th, but his most recent one is October 7th from the digital-only comic Legends of the Dark Knight. I believe that’s the only time October 7th has been referenced, but I’ve heard the animated show The Batman said his birthday was in October (can’t confirm, haven’t watched it recently).

Still, even associates of DC seem to remember his February 19th birthday better. In February 2023, Warner Bro’s Gotham Knights game did a sale for Bruce’s birthday. I’ve also heard the birthday was used in the Gotham TV show, but again, I don’t watch much live action DC shows.
The February 19th birthday appears to come from the 70s and 80s. It’s his birthday in the Super DC Calendar 1976, and in Batman Family Vol. 1 #11: “Suprise, Suprise!” (May 1977). Bob Rozakis (known as DC’s “Answer Man”) said Feb 19th was Bruce’s birthday in the letter column of Detective Comics #494 (Sep 1980).

Way back in the 40s, his birthday was in April, possibly April 7th. During a birthstone murder mystery, Bruce says his birthstone is a diamond, which is traditionally the April birthstone.

World’s Finest Comics #33/6 (Mar-Apr 1948): “The 5 Jewels of Doom!”
Star Spangled Comics #91 (Apr 1949) might imply the exact date was April 7th but we’d have to assume the party is on his birthday and that “this month” refers to the publishing month of April. I believe this is where people get the April 7th birthday when they bring it up.

Early April also shines in Batman: Year One where it shows Bruce’s first night out as Batman being either the night of April 6th or the early morning of April 7th (Batman #405). So although the April Bruce birthday hasn’t been used in decades, it’s still a Batman birthday in a way.
I have also heard people say Frank Miller considered Bruce’s birthday to be in November. However, I have yet to find an original source of him saying that, and honestly (just like the “March 21st” birthday for Kate) if he never used it in any canon material I don’t put much weight in that.
Jim Gordon
The only birthday I’ve ever seen for Jim is January 5th from Super DC Calendar 1976.

In the Injustice: Gods Among Us universe (an alternate reality where the video game of the same name is set in), they show Alfred’s birth certificate, where it says his birthday is August 16th, 1943.

Maybe you’ll notice that August 16th is Jason’s birthday. A little funny considering the issue features Alfred refusing to share his birthday only for us to learn it’s the same date as Jason’s. Still, annoying. There are so many days in the year! Stop choosing the same ones!
This Alfred birthdate runs into a similar problem Helena’s birthdates did: it’s not part of main comics canon, it’s an alternate universe, so it may not be applicable to the main comics universe.
Note: if we calculate that 1943 birth year from Jun 2016 when the comic was published, that’d make Alfred 72 soon to be 73. Does that mean anything in canon? Probably not, but oh well. Also...token British character born by Windsor Castle? …of course.
Personally, I would rather go with the April 8th birthday than the Injustice one, since Injustice is an alternate universe. Also, outside of the humor of it, the idea of Alfred and Jason sharing a birthday is a bit too much for me. Still, it’s up to people’s own cherry picking.

would strive to be the best damn dad ever, and you can't convince me otherwise
since he grew up without a dad himself. he wouldn't want his children to grow up feelin' the way he did
he'd try to be super present in their lives, and very involved. even if things got a little too overwhelming sometimes
he'd wanna be nothing but supportive and loving of all their hobbies and endeavors
peter knows when to set boundaries, but he'd have a tendency to be a little too lenient
once his kid got a little older, he'd be so tempted to drag them into some harmless trouble. to your dismay
like, they'd start pulling pranks on you together. but the pranks are as simple as pelting you with water balloons when you're least expecting it
or, oh no! he ran them to mcdonald's for somethin' to snack on. without you! and right after you said you were gonna make dinner that night too! they'll ruin their appetites like that!
"okay, but they really wanted nuggets. wouldn't stop askin' about it. they even said please! what was i supposed to do? say no!? look at this face!!" and he gestures to your kid's precious doll face
if his kid is born with mutant genes, he'd be so goddamn proud
and a little worried too. he'd be terrified of how his kid would be treated in school, especially for bein' different
that is...unless you enrolled your kid at charles's school. most ideal scenario honestly. peter would feel way more content then
his kid definitely wants to become a great, x-men hero like their papa someday
he introduces his kiddo to his favorite music wayyyy early on. like, your newborn is resting in their crib. and he's playin' pink floyd like it's a lullaby
"honey, we really gotta make sure this lil rascal's educated, don't we?" but he's talking about exposing them to david bowie
but if his kid grew up listening to all the genres he doesn't, he'd still be as supportive as he could
his kid likes lil nas or lady gaga or somethin'? he's takin' the whole family to a live show. he's wearing the merch. he's learning the songs. he's singin' those songs in the crowd
i do think he'd get pretty anxious, though. might worry he's not a good enough father. maybe thinks he's not cut out for it. you have to reassure him all the time: he's doing the best he can. better than you could ever hope for
he's busy with hero work and teaching a lot of the time. when he starts to get a lil too absent, he's terrified he's neglecting his kid in some way
but he's got no idea his kiddo thinks the entire world of him. literally the coolest dad ever in the history of the universe. his kid will go to school and be like "yeah well my dad's quicksilver"
he's the kinda dad who's gonna splurge on christmas gifts. so many, you won't be able to see the floor. you're worried he stole them all. but he swears on his life he paid for everything. he's gotta set a good example, after all !!

David

David is a manipulative yandere.
A yandere that will use manipulation in order to gain the things they want, especially when it comes to their darling. 
Being in a relationship with David would seem relatively normal. However, when you actually sit there and pick apart certain things that occur in your relationship, you may be able to connect some dots. 
However, David is very persuasive and will make you believe that those odd things you discovered occurring in the relationship are actually pretty normal and you’re thinking a little too much about it. 
David will use manipulation in order to keep you with him, he isn’t opposed to putting his mind tricks into play, especially when you begin questioning him. 
He will use your fears against you, make you dependent on him to chase away those fears. 
He only does it because he doesn’t want to lose you. He honestly hates using his mind tricks on you, however he can’t risk the thought of his mate potentially leaving him. Therefore, he uses his powers when he has to. 
Your freedom isn’t completely restricted. He wants you to be happy in the relationship, happy mate, happy life and all that. He will allow you to have friends, visit family, but at the end of the night, he wants to be your top priority just as much as you are his. 
However, he does display some characteristics of a possessive yandere. He constantly feels the need to own you and have a certain amount of control in your relationship.
He just wants what’s best for you, you have to understand that.  
He practically breathes domination. His actions and way with things gives off this complete intimidation that gives him power. Especially over you. 
 If he is provoked though, it will turn south.
Therefore, he can easily become jealous. 
He is willing to cut off your friends and family, yes that would involve possibly killing them or scaring them off. Whichever comes first.
However this would only happen if your family and friends were somehow treating you poorly or you were starting to spend more time with them instead of him. You’re his mate and you are his top priority!
If you somehow try to defend your family and friends, he will become very upset. You should only depend on him and that can also result in him removing you from them. 
He isn’t that bad, at least he takes care of you. 
Dwayne:

Dwayne is an overprotective yandere.
A yandere that constantly wants to protect their darling from various aspects of the world. 
Dwayne would be the best yandere for you if you crave someone who will constantly worry about you and make sure you are safe. 
Dwayne will monitor you like a hawk, it can almost be a little smothering but he is doing it because he cares about you so much and you getting hurt would honestly break him. 
He monitors you not because he doesn’t trust you, it’s other people he doesn’t trust. He doesn’t want Surf Nazis thinking it’s okay to mess with you. Not while he’s still around. 
He knows that he doesn’t have to protect you all the time, he’s very aware of that. However, his vampiric instincts don’t agree with him. You’re his mate and you will always be safe with him. 
There are times he will relent, due to your request, and allow you to do certain things on your own. It was really hard for him to sit still while you were off doing something else.
However, if something happened, say you had gotten hurt or god forbid touched, he will basically put an invisible leash on you. While also beating some people’s asses for harming you.  
His smothering will increase ten-fold after that. There are rare instances now where he allows you certain freedom and independence. 
He tries not to be controlling, however being a vampire with a few words, he sometimes shows it through action.
Usually by grabbing a piece of your clothing and pulling you back when you try to walk off somewhere. 
Paul:

Paul is an obsessive yandere.
A yandere that holds their darling as being the most important thing and can’t imagine their life without them. All their thoughts pertain to their darling.
Before dating you, he constantly sat with his guitar, lazily playing with the strings as he imagined you sitting there beside him before he finally decided to make you his. 
His mind is corrupted with the thought of you, which made him fall extremely hard since he was never able to fully connect with another person besides his brothers. 
He never showed anyone, but he has written some songs about you. Albeit that they’re not exactly appropriate but it’s not like you’ll ever find them. If you do, good luck.
He constantly daydreams about you and he honestly can’t help it. He could be doing something and he randomly thinks about you. You have completely corrupted his mind.
Therefore, it's only fair that he does the same to you. Mates are supposed to obsess over each other, that’s how it works. 
His goal is to make sure you are absolutely smitten about him as he is about you. He will increase his dorky charm majorly in order to sweep you off your feet.
Paul also shares some characteristics of a delusional yandere, a yandere that does not understand that their actions are somehow wrong and unaware of themselves. 
Paul genuinely thinks that the things he does in order to have you are completely justified. Therefore, if he had no other choice and had to take you away, he wouldn’t think it was wrong.
He was just helping his mate understand that he’s the only one they need and if he has to make some major chances then that is something he is willing to do. 
Reasoning with him is almost impossible, it’s like talking to a brick wall. He will not understand your point of view, but he will try.
Especially when it comes to killing someone because they looked at you. He was just protecting you? He will not find anything wrong with it so reasoning is extremely hard. 
Marko:

Marko is a sadistic yandere. 
However, he isn’t the sadistic type in which he finds pleasure in harming his darling. He falls more into making your blood pump and adrenaline flowing.  
Marko is more in-tune with his vampire instincts, the need to claim and become more primal when it comes to his mate. His yandere tendencies will make those instincts increase majorly. 
Speaking of adrenaline and blood pumping, Marko loves chasing you. He views it like a cat and mouse game or an animal stalking their prey. 
If you ever decided you wanted to escape from his clutches, he’s not even remotely angry, he finds it as a challenge and he can feel his own adrenaline going. 
Therefore, he’ll sometimes even allow you to escape just for him  to catch you not long after your attempt.
Unless you're genuinely into it, your vampire mate chases you throughout the woods. Like a twisted version of hide-and-seek. Then the both of you are perfect for each other.
However, Marko is sadistic in harming others, especially when he is harming those for you. That’s where his sadistic tendencies tend to lean towards. 
He loves picking fights with people on the boardwalk, his sadistic tendency finds it very thrilling.
However, he’ll fight extremely dirty if someone was causing you problems or threatened to steal you away from him. 
People discuss how they can see red when fighting, but Marko literally blacks out. One minute someone is threatening you and the next that person is on the ground barely breathing, especially if it’s in public. If it happened somewhere more private, oh that person is dead. 
Marko doesn’t mind having you see the things he does, he finds it thrilling that you will be able to witness the things he would do for you. He would literally kill for you and take a trophy if you wanted one. 
Despite his sadistic side, he genuinely does love you. In fact, his love practically overflows. He is constantly clinging onto you and showering you in affection. 
Everything he does is for you, babe. So don’t doubt his love because he can definitely prove it.

You gained the affection of  manipulative, overprotective, obsessive and sadistic yanderes, that is going to be very difficult if not impossible to get away from if you want to try. 
However, if you’re actually alright with the things they do, then this relationship would be smooth sailing. 
The boys are basically a bad influence on each other. Since none of them see that what they are doing is wrong, they constantly feed each other with wrongful ideas on how to make you theirs. 
Especially Paul and Marko, they encourage each other immensely on the things they want. Basically one could tell the other that they wanna do this and the other is like “Damn, that’s a good idea buddy!” 
Marko: “Kinda wanna kill this person and have (Y/N) watch.”
Paul: “You should bud!” :D
Marko: “Okay you twisted my arm, I’m doing it.” >:]
Once you’re in a relationship with them, you are staying with them in the cave and whenever you’re all in public there is no exception. Have fun with your own vampiric bodyguards!
Having four yanderes sharing you can be overwhelming, especially with their constant demands. Out of them all, Dwayne is the best person to reason with.
He can try talking with the others and give you some leeway, but it has a success rate of 25 percent. 
David was fine once upon a time in allowing you to visit family and friends. However, Dwayne expressed how dangerous that could be. What if you got hurt going from their cave to home and vice versa?  David was basically like, “shit, you right.” 
Marko made the others try allowing you to escape and chase you down. The boys practically loved it and now it’s a weekly occurrence. It feeds their instincts to claim their mate.

I’m respectfully about to lose my mind at some of the fandom rn with the way buddie shippers are being treated… It’s like no one understands the whole point of shipping a couple is to want them to be together, so duh if something happens that could potentially lead to that pairing they’re going to get excited and theorize? Yes it’s absolutely important for Buck to explore his sexuality outside of buddie but the way people are trying to say that buddie shippers are homophobic for wanting endgame buddie….. when buddie is literally a queer ship? it doesn’t make any sense to me as a queer person myself because it’s like- y’all do realize that buck dating eddie would in fact mean that he is still bisexual, and that people have wanted thst for years, so A) why are we shocked and appalled at buddie shippers for being happy that they are one step closer to endgame buddie, B) why are we calling people homophobic or biphobic when they are quite literally shipping two men together, C) why are we all acting as if buddie endgame hasn’t been simmering just under the surface for YEARS and that if they were going to give us buddie, then thag means buck and eddie would both have to come oit as queer…
I’ve seen so many prominent blogs in the community who have made posts like “buck’s bisexuality has nothing to do with buddie and you are a horrible human for even insinuating that” and so many people are agreeing??? And not to mention the fact that now these same people are trying to villainize and trash on Eddie when in all honesty Buck’s behavior in 7x04 was NOT okay- physically harming someone because they’re not giving you attention is never okay (and i’m saying this as someone whi ADORES Buck, he still needs to be held accountable.)
It just reads very icky to me that so many people are screaming “bi pride” but then spewing all of this vitriol over a ship that would fit within Buck’s bisexuality…
It worries me that the writers are going to see this negativity from people and they’re going to just completely back-burner Eddie’s character in favor of Buck and it disappoints me because even outside of buddie, a major tv show portraying a repressed gay poc with religious and family trauma would be EQUALLY as powerful as Bi Buck is……
but i guess that’s just people only caring about the queer storylines when it’s about a white man since these are also the people acting like Hen and Karen or Michael and David haven’t been there the whole time
but that’s just me i guess….

You worded it a bit weird but I got what you meant (I hope) so anyone who didn’t may require a little clarification, the sentiment of bucks bisexuality being separate from buddie I think is 1000% correct and I agree wholeheartedly that a persons sexuality and their journey shouldn’t be just about their love interests but about themselves as a person, the issue people are taking is that 1. Is Geoff Johns’ Aquaman the best run on the character, in your opinion?
Lol no.
I will say this for Johns's Aquaman: he did a very good job synthesizing all of the contradictory backstories and canon that had come before and refining the best elements into something that made sense and created lots of story potential. Like:
Pre-Crisis, Arthur's father was human and his mother was a random Atlantean woman, and he was king because he was elected to the position. Post-Crisis, his mother was the queen consort of Atlantis and his father was an ancient Atlantean sorcerer. Johns married the two, literally, by having Arthur's father still be human, but his mother the queen (not the queen consort) of Atlantis. This allowed Arthur to be a child of two worlds, and have all the pressures and conflicts of the crown, both of which are really strong elements of the character.
Pre-Crisis, Orm was Arthur's half-brother on his father's side, so he was fully human and became a supervillain because he couldn't breathe water like Arthur and he was big mad about it. This is nonsense. Post-Crisis, he was still Arthur's half-brother on his father's side, but that father was the aforementioned ancient Atlantean sorcerer and neither Arthur nor Orm had any real relationship with him to speak of, so their dynamic isn't interesting and Orm himself is criminally boring. In the New 52, Orm is Arthur's half-brother on his mother's side, meaning that for the first time, he is also a potential heir to the throne of Atlantis, and the conflict between him and Arthur stems not from random hatred but from a genuine disagreement about what's best for their people. That's SO MUCH BETTER.
Pre-Flashpoint, Mera was the queen of an underwater realm from some random other dimension we don't care about. In the New 52, she's the princess of a rival undersea kingdom to Atlantis, which is way more interesting.
Pre-Flashpoint, Tula was from some random "royal family," which isn't explained and doesn't make sense. In the New 52, she's Orm's half-sister on his father's side, meaning she and Arthur aren't actually related but they have the same brother. Also interesting!
There are so many good ideas in Johns's Aquaman, and honestly I think this book does a better job than literally every other New 52 book I've read (and I've sadly read a lot of them) at presenting a cleverly streamlined, accessible new narrative for its characters based on what already existed, rather than just changing things at random just to be different.
The problem is the execution. Johns's Aquaman is utterly joyless, which was true of basically every single New 52 book, but this one feels particularly weighed down by it. It's also deeply, deeply embarrassed by its subject matter. He spends all his time trying to convince you that Arthur is a TOTAL BADASS who is VERY SERIOUS and DOESN'T TALK TO FISH, OKAY???
And like...he's Aquaman. The whole concept is goofy. Superheroes are goofy. If you can't hang with that, maybe superhero comics aren't the place for you?
The book just radiates un-fun. No one in the book was having fun, no one making the book was having fun, and I didn't have any fun reading it.
As for what the actual best Aquaman runs are...I would say probably the Silver Age, the Sub Diego arc in the 2003 run, and there was some really fun stuff in Rebirth. And the Peter David run isn't actually good but it's really, really entertaining.

I saw it on a Youtube community post and I honestly thought it was fake for a while because no one said where it could be seen, and I only now found out that it's in the about page. I have seen literally no one on Tumblr analyze it so I wanted to know your thoughts on it. Thank you !

Anyways, About page text. Yeah, it’s a weird one, there’s a reason there’s not much discussion around it. It’s hard to point down exactly what it means, but I do have some things to say about it. I was actually already thinking of making a post about it, so this is a good excuse :v
Anyways, a fair bit of my interpretation come from a lot of other posts around Tumblr, but there are a few things I want to bring to the table, especially regarding the mastermind’s feelings towards the killing game and the potential connection between the DRDT mastermind and Mukuro Ikusaba. Sure, that sounds insane enough for my average post.

So here’s the About page text for the uninitiated:

“You don’t understand, do you? I used to be like you. I barely remember, but I used to be like you. I cared so much about people, I cried everytime someone was hurt. I suffered for a long time stuck in here caring about people." "I know what you’re going through. You’re going to hold on as long as you have, with hope that you can make it out of here with everyone. Then you’re going to despair. That lasts a while, too." "Then you’ll get bored. Like me." "And you’ll wish you were still suffering. Anything else is better than boredom." "I wish I could feel something, anything else, other than being bored. I’m stuck in here for eternity, and I know everything that could possibly happen. I know how everyone reacts to a murder, what makes people turn to despair, what fills people with hope and make them survive until we all run out of food and starve to death." "I wish I could feel terrified, or afraid, or angry. But I can’t anymore. I don’t feel anything at all except boredom." "Do you understand, Teacher?" "This is why I’m letting you suffer as long as possible. Because it’s better than the alternative." "I’m sorry. I don’t envy you." "You’ll understand eventually.”
As you can see, it’s pretty weird. You got some character monologuing to some “Teacher” about hope and despair and boredom, saying they can predict what everyone’s gonna do and feel and how that makes everything boring.
This definitely makes them sound a lot like Junko, and the connection is certainly clear. They both hate boredom with a burning passion and are able to easily predict people’s actions and feelings. But there’s actually one crucial line we have to keep in mind which separates them:
“I don’t envy you.”
The character speaking doesn’t enjoy despair, they only prefer it over boredom. This separates them from Junko herself, who does explicitly enjoy despair even without factoring in her hatred for boredom. Keep this in mind, I’ll bring it up later.
But what’s most important about this character, is that they’re likely not a DRDT character, but rather the protagonist of “Forever Dead”, the book Veronika talks about in her introduction. Take a look at how she describes it (and sorry the screenshots aren’t perfect, the text flashes too quickly).

Veronika: Oh oh oh! Speaking of horror, let me tell you about the horror bookI'm currently reading! It's called Forever Dead! You see, it's about a boy stuck in a time loop and forced to watch his friends die for eternity. While he is horrified at first, he eventually becomes more concerned over his growing boredom in t[he face of the] terrible tragedies because he sees them over and over again. The book is written like a normal autobiography at first, but as the protagonist descends into insanity over time, the writin[g style] starts to fall apart and take on a more sinister tone. Format twists like that are so fascinating, don't you think? Honestly, I would really love to know just how it feels to be in his shoes and experience something so horrible over and over and over again. And then, my favorite scene in the book, is one time he's impaled by many metal spikes and left to slowly bleed to death while he's left c[ontemplating] his thoughts. He's forced to apologize for everything he did... while... he... um... ohh..."
“Forever Dead” (FD) is a completely fictional book, as in, it doesn’t exist in real life. You can actually tell because it isn’t censored the way the dev usually censors real things, like A****a C*****e’s name [Agatha Christie]. So if it was made up specifically for DRDT, that would imply it holds some significance.
And you can see a lot of the same ideas as in the About page text. A character who ends up becoming bored of their environment, turning to unethical acts to entertain themselves. But what’s really striking is the repeated mention of the “Teacher” in the About page text.
(Is that a Rei Mekaru reference?!)
There… really isn’t a DRDT character who would be called that. I’ve seen it related to Mai before, and while the teacher could be an allegory for Mai, it can’t literally be her. Mai is a student, and not a particularly academically gifted one at that; she’s not anyone’s teacher. The only other person who could apply is the teacher Min is implied to have had at the end of her Bonus Episode, but… like, what would that mean. Why is he important?
No, I think it makes more sense to assume this is related to Forever Dead. That would also explain why the character claims to be “stuck for all eternity” even though they know what to do to make everyone “survive until [they] all run out of food and starve.” And also because of a little theory-bordering-on-headcanon I have.
Don’t you think it’s strange how the character uses the word “Teacher”? People in the US, to my knowledge, don’t speak like that. I believe they use “Mr/Ms/Mx [Name]” or something like that. So, could this be an in-universe translation quirk? For example, if “Forever Dead” is originally Japanese, the character could actually be saying “Sensei”, which I think is more common, and is sometimes directly translated to “Teacher” even though it sounds a bit weird in English. I personally love this idea because it conjures up the frankly amusing idea of the dev making up not a book in English, but a book translated to English from Japanese just for shits and giggles.
Anyways, rambling aside, the point stands. I think this is a (fictional) quote from (the fictional book) “Forever Dead.” So what does it mean for DRDT?
Well, seeing as it’s literally in the About page, it’s likely closely linked to the very nature of the killing game, right? It makes sense to assume we’re meant to relate the mastermind to this quote. The attitude is mastermind-y, the actions are mastermind-y, the context is mastermind-y, we’re calling mastermind.
But wait. Since this Forever Dead protagonist constantly speaks of boredom, doesn’t that instantly relate them to Veronika?
Well, yes.
But… it’s Veronika. It would honestly be weirder if something related to the mastermind doesn’t link back to her. She’s the biggest mastermind bait I’ve ever seen, and unless she has an early reveal, I don’t quite see her as the mm (I’ll just start shortening it).
Other theories have also connected it to Whit’s intuition. I find these interesting, and about as plausible as any other good mastermind theory. However, since the “boredom < despair” angle is something which I feel is quite intuitive for the average DR fan who knows anything about Junko and Izuru, I actually want to dive a bit deeper into what the connection between the mm and the Forever Dead protagonist could mean, since that’s an angle I’ve seen explored less often.
For one, there’s the time loop thing. Now, I don’t believe DRDT takes place in an actual time loop, but I think there’s an argument that there is a repetition of events at play. As in, things which happened in the past, and are repeating in the present.
Yes I’m talking about the pre-prologue cutscene.

... Fuck!! Fuck, fuck, fuck, this really hurts... Ouch... I really wasn't expecting her to attack me like that. I made a massive mistake to trust them. I can't rely on anyone. All by myself... I have to end the killing game. And even if I can't do that... I have to kill Teruko Tawaki. No matter what.
I’ve talked about it before, but as a refresher: that fork with blood on it implies whoever is speaking got attacked with the fork, which fits Xander’s eye injury suspiciously closely.

So if Xander is the one speaking, if you think about it, it must mean he was involved in a killing game previous to the one we see in DRDT. Which, in fact, Teruko may have some vague memories of.

Teruko: And also, as a way to reference that "past killing game," right?
That could be about the THH killing game, which frankly sorta makes more sense in context, but seeing as Veronika then claims nothin like a killing game had happened before, I find it most likely that got completely erased from history.
So what’s the important thing here? Well, for one, if Xander’s eye injury came from a previous killing game, then we are definitely not talking about an actual time loop, as that would have erased his eye injury. However, it could be talking about a repetition of events. Perhaps there have been multiple killing games before this one, a la V3 but without the “fiction” aspect presumably.
This is nothing new by itself, but it does have an odd implication when related back to the About page text. Think about it, the FD protagonist doesn’t enjoy the time loop. If he could, he would end it. So if he’s meant to reflect the DRDT MM’s attitude, could this mean the mastermind doesn’t actually enjoy the killing games?
It sounds insane, but hear me out. We’ve already established the FD protag doesn’t actually enjoy despair, so if they’re meant to parallel the MM, then that could imply the MM doesn’t enjoy despair either. And if they’re being forced into the MM role repeatedly for one reason or another, the same way the FD protagonist is forced into the time loop, wouldn’t they grow bored of it, despite the despair? It’s the same thing as the FD protagonist:
“…I used to be like you. I cared so much about people, I cried everytime someone was hurt. I suffered for a long time stuck in here caring about people.”
If we apply this with the idea that “time loop” = “repeating killing games”, and that “FD protag” = “Matermind”, then what we have is a reluctant mastermind forced to go through with several killing games for reasons unknown, who only grew slightly fond of despair once they grew bored of everything else.
So, uh, there’s definitely unhinged point #1. However, there is another thing to note, the one I mentioned in the beginning. And since I mentioned it, you probably caught it. The FD protag dies the exact same way Mukuro does, and since the FD protag is connected to the DRDT MM, it’s possible there’s some connection between Mukuro and the DRDT MM. Most likely related to their mastermind-iness.
Of course, what the connection could actually be is very vague, and there’s a ton of options. Still, here’s a few possibilities I find the most interesting:
>The mastermind is a secret extra student, hiding somewhere in the school. So Mai. I don’t quite like this one since it’s sorta silly and I just don’t see Mai as the mastermind, but it is there.
>The mastermind deeply adores a loved one, and may even disguise themselves to look like this loved one. Like Mukuro does with Junko… and like Whit does with his mom. This is to appease the people who love the Whit MM theory, because I know some people are really passionate about it and it’s frankly always fun to see those people talk about it! It is also just objectively funny to always find ways to pin him as the MM imo.
>The mastermind fully disguised themselves as another person. So, Veronika = Mai crack theory. Sure, at this point.
>There are two masterminds, and one of them died early on. Basically thinking of Xander here, given the whole “kill Teruko Tawaki” thing. The second would probably have to be Mai unfortunately, so I don’t quite see it. Though I guess it could also be David, or just anyone else in the killing game for that matter, but you know.
>The mastermind faked their death. You know, we never saw Min’s corpse… So we’re off to delulu land! Min is still alive! Min is still alive! Min-!
Blatant favoritism aside, that’s pretty unlikely. I doubt the mastermind would want to straight up lose an arm in a fake execution. Though I guess if she’s a reluctant MM maybe she doesn’t get a say in the executions, so…

>There are two masterminds, and one of them is disguising as the other. This fits shockingly close to the J & Ryan double mastermind theory I swear exists somewhere on Tumblr and I’m not going insane I just can’t find the post. Essentially, the idea that Ryan and J swap places constantly, taking turns on who is the more traditional mastermind and who stays in the killing game, explaining that one time Rose seemingly didn’t recognize J in chapter 1. So two siblings, where one of them disguised as the other while the other just presents as themselves? Exactly like Mukuro and Junko.
But I feel the most grounded ideas are usually the likeliest ones, which is why I think this connection to Mukuro may simply be another way of saying the MM was manipulated/coerced into their position, instead of choosing to be the MM on their own.
It’s a less conclusive answer, but it’s less farfetched than the other ones. And it sorta fits… uh….
Well, see, I’m making a post with AUs for all possible MMs… and I kinda accidentally convinced myself Rose might be the mastermind? I might make a more detailed post about it later, but basically this more vague connection to Mukuro fits, so.
Anyways, those are all the possibilities I can think of for unhinged point #2, the connection between the MM and Mukuro. I don’t have much else to say, as I feel this is something that’s gonna make more sense as we move forward in the series.

A vampire from the House of Wright pulled David aside before the negotiation with Baz warning him about being associated with William. And the implications of what it could mean, even if there isn't anything Formal connecting the two (Darlin' and Sam being the only Real connection, as with the Quinn situation). What the Fuck !
Apparently William has a long history of surrounding himself with "less-than-stellar" people, and covering them at Length-- even if it causes harm to innocents. Is Porter one of these people ? The House of Bennett ?
But David's right, they've made a Name for themselves in Dahlia. To make it seem like House of Solaire has recently put the pack in his Pocket could spell out trouble to others. Especially after the Summit, with the House tearing at the seams.
But Vincent and Sam are still people the Pack cares about. Oh my god, Word's gotten around about Sam not considering himself to be a Solaire much longer. I thought he was going to mention Sam's choice of not living forever. I was a little worried. But Honestly ? I don't blame the guy for wanting to leave.

Ight, here we go
Best Part: It's just a fuckin funny ass show. Shit makes me happy as hell. Even when they have some pretty dogshit takes, the rest of the show usually makes up for it.
Worst Part: Kinda like the last one, there have been some episodes that aren't all too great. I understand that they have a SUPER tight deadline, so there's SO much room to get issues wrong n stuff, so I don't give too much of a shit. I also don't expect everyone to have the same views as me, and it's usually not terrible. Sometimes you'll get right wing conservatives thinking that SP exaggerations of things is 'proof' of some stupid shit. I could do without that, but it's like once in a blue fuckin moon.
Fav (kid) Character: I think it's obvious it's Kyle.
Character w/ missed potential: They've honestly done a pretty good job of showcasing a lot of the character, giving a lot of secondary and tertiary characters their own episodes. BUT, I do think seeing more of David or Tammy woulda been cool.
Fav (adult) Character: Nostolgia wise, it's Chef, cuz I miss that mf (fuck scientology tho). Comedy wise, ealier Randy was pretty good (tho I'm not a big fan of how he has been since Tegridy, that's not to say he doesn't have his moments, but he's not the same). Also, I used to fucking LOVE Ms. Crabtree when I was a kid, I though she was funny as shit.
Least fav. adult: Officer Barbrady. I can deal with him bein dumb as fuck, but his voice and speaking pattern is like a fork scratchin across a plate. I hate him SOLEY because of his fucking voice. Also, SkankHunt42 Gerald is annoying as FUUUUUCK.
Unfunny moment: The Butter's and passed out Paris Hilton scene. In general, is just kinda stupid and uncomfortable. Also the whole Ike and his teacher thing. The Cartman as Dog was a funny thing, but the rest was uncomfortable (to be fair, I'm almost certain that was the point. They used Ike to REALLY send home just how fucked up it was).
Funny moment: Almost all of the show, dude. I love it so much.
Pronouns: Dick/Balls jk He/him, but I couldn't give a shit. I'm a dude, but a short one, so maybe I don't really count
How: I grew up on South Park. You could catch my toddler ass watchin this wit my siblings all the time.
Misc: I am into other shows and movies, but not into fandom stuff. I'm barely in this one, seeing as I only post art n that's about it. And I do make original art. I got a shit ton of stories and oc's. But my 'normal' art style uses soft shading, unlike the hard shading I use on fanart stuff.

they’re Pride and Prejudice, people! I’m telling you!
Aziraphale still holds onto his anti-Hell, pro-Heaven, anti-demon, pro-angel bias, his prejudice telling him that there is no “institutional problem”, that Crowley fell because he asked questions rather than because Heaven didn’t want questions asked.
Crowley refuses to let go of his pride in his identity (whether that be as one of the fallen, or as part of a side that is neither Heaven nor Hell), and go back to the Heaven that betrayed him, which he doesn’t trust not to ruin everything.
Aziraphale is Lizzy, Crowley is Darcy.
and, come on, we all know what happens in Chapter 34.
Darcy proposes to her. he talks about having tried to pretend the love is not real (“in vain I have struggled”), and asks Lizzy to marry him despite the fact that they come from two different factions who traditionally wouldn’t marry, and despite the fact that he knows she does not possess the same identity he is proud of in himself.
and Lizzy turns him down, because she’s prejudiced against Darcy’s type and this has influenced how and what she thinks about him specifically.
Darcy leaves this proposal feeling hurt, betrayed, and upset, while Lizzy is too confident that she is right in the core beliefs that influenced her decision. and they go away needing to work on themselves.
(is all of this sounding familiar?)
and then they meet again and fall in love and there’s a successful proposal etc etc.
Crowley’s pride in what he is won’t let him take Aziraphale at half quality, still part of Heaven; Aziraphale must be so exceptional as to transcend that restrictive category. an angel who would buy into that nonsense is not what Crowley stands for. he cares about people in his own, very small category: their side, which he thought included Aziraphale. those outside Crowley’s side are not to be ruining Crowley’s “precious, peaceful, fragile existence”.
meanwhile, Aziraphale’s prejudice presents him two options. either Crowley remains a demon which means he is bad, or Crowley becomes an angel again, which means he can be properly good. in the second case, Aziraphale can have him. Aziraphale can’t have Crowley if he’s bad, which he must be if he’s a demon.
there’s a subtle difference between the two.
Crowley’s tactic is more about self-preservation for his group (which would have included Aziraphale if Aziraphale’d agreed to dump Heaven for their side, just as Darcy’s remaining pride extends to protecting Lizzy when they are married (“Darcy could never receive him [Wickham] at Pemberley”)).
Aziraphale is being self-righteous for the good in the world (which he would have done for Crowley too if Crowley’d agreed to be an angel, just as Lizzy loses her shit at Darcy for not helping Wickham and all of his myriad other moral failings and then turns around and defends him once she’s convinced he’s good (“that [her dislike of him] is all to be forgot”)).
of course, this all might be an accident on the part of the writers, but then again….
Crowley and Aziraphale’s ideas to get Nina and Maggie together were sheltering from the rain, one fabulous kiss, and Pride and Prejudice.
Crowley and Aziraphale have already had their sheltering from the rain — twice, actually (at the end of the creation scene, and the end of the Eden scene). they have also had their kiss — no explanation needed.
this is their Pride and Prejudice, right down to Crowley (Darcy) protesting when a dance with Aziraphale (Lizzy) is suggested.
I could go into how Pride and Prejudice is in and of itself a Much Ado About Nothing retelling, but honestly that’s not particularly relevant, just cool. (do watch the David Tennant and Catherine Tate Much Ado, though.)
so, my hypothesis for the conclusion of a potential series 3 is as follows.
it will involve Crowley’s equivalent of “one word from you will silence me forever”: Aziraphale’s last chance to answer in the affirmative and be with him. Aziraphale will learn that Crowley is not bad simply for being a demon (I hope), and Crowley will realise Aziraphale should be let into his heart even if he wasn’t always on Crowley’s side (I hope).
Darcy / Crowley stops refusing to interact positively with anybody not in the little clique, and Lizzy / Aziraphale stops believing an entire group to be awful.
I don’t know if I have anything else coherent to say on this. something about how they have to accept the things they cannot change about the other and change the things the other cannot accept about them?
(also Gabriel could arguably be Wickham, given that Crowley tries to convince Aziraphale that Gabriel did a nasty thing and should be kept away from those he wants to keep safe but Aziraphale won’t believe Gabriel is a bad person because Gabriel isn’t one of the group he considers to be bad… I mean, it’s just their pride and their prejudice again isn’t it. whether we’re talking about Darcy, Lizzy, and Wickham, or Crowley, Aziraphale, and Gabriel.
I’m not going to follow that extension of the comparison too far, though, because I don’t think I can reasonably claim that Beelzebub is Lydia.)
concluision: I don’t care whether it’s Benedick and Beatrice, or Darcy and Lizzy, or Crowley and Aziraphale. I love all of their dynamics.
and we have amazing things to look forward to if we can convince the company to make series 3.

I’ve been thinking so much about the interview about the creation of stede’s mermaid tail and how the costume designer mentioned that “there’s a huge Chinese element we have coming through, and goldfish in Chinese culture is considered lucky” and just generally considering the broader implications of that statement especially because we know david has moved up the timeline of zheng yi sao’s reign by like 60 years just to include her in the show and have her intersect with stede and ed. I’m so beyond thrilled that he did this but just the idea that there are more chinese elements that could potentially be coming through as part of the creative vision behind bringing her in for season 2 makes me so curious and speculative… and then I realized: THE BUNNY!
we have yet to see ed interact with the little rabbit, though we know from the trailer that he does befriend one. and honestly my first thought was to consider as like an “alice in wonderland” type of symbolic nature, of the bunny being a sort of spiritual awakening for ed maybe, of it representing societal pressures and expectations that ed feels trapped by still like it did for alice. but then I was thinking how they already have SO many motifs going on this season and that would seem like a loose interpretation of things in the long run, BUT THEN I thought if any two things were going to have symbolism pulled from the same culture it would be the two animals presented in relation to ed and stede for the season.
in the chinese zodiac (also I’m not chinese so feel free to correct me on anything I mess up on, I’m not perfect and neither is my manic google research lol) rabbits are lucky and symbolize mercy, elegance, beauty— but most importantly, patience and luck. they bring previously lacking peace or success because of how lucky they are. and since the season’s arc for ed and stede will be largely focused on trying to make peace with each other and finding enough peace within themselves to move onwards after being hurt so deeply, I think it’ll be really fitting to see ed’s journey with bestie bunny help him gain peace of mind. and also, potentially, to have some mercy on stede who, yes, fucked up, but is trying his damnedest to fix it and express his love.

On the talk of Toto, drivers who lost their seat and his William golden boys.
Because out of the five Mercedes driver, 3 of them were originally Williams boys; Nico, Valtteri and George. As soon as Valtteri gets promoted to full time driver, Toto moves up to Mercedes.
Nico retires, Toto: I MUST have Valtteri, give Williams a discount on the engine.
What I find hilarious is how many times he’s crossed path with Nico Hulkenberg. Nico lost his Williams reserve driver role to Valtteri, while Toto was on the board.
Then Nico looses his seat at Renault, because Toto hustled Esteban there.
Honorary mention that “everyone” said Esteban would get Valtteri’s seat in 2019, but didn’t
Hulkenberg is a skilled driver, so much experience, used to drive for Williams, has been a reserve driver, lost his seat, been the Covid super sub. Technically he ticks all the boxes for Toto. But every time Toto goes Naaah, no thank you. He has a type, and it is NOT Nico Hulkenberg.
I will admit that his lack of podiums might factor in, but shhhh. It’s funny so facts don’t matter
Honestly, kinda hilarious consequences aside, Nico Hulkenberg has suffered more than most from bad luck, bad timing and being on the wrong end of seat politics. And whilst he might not have had it in a single big style incident like Kevin Magnussen, it’s just the constant stream of it that’s fucked him over.
Further to that, Valtteri has mentioned in the interview where he talked about his eating/exercise disorder that Hulk specifically lost out on a seat at Williams (probably to replace Valtteri) because he was too big. David Coulthard, also notably tall, has talked about his experience of bulimia too. The driver weight regulations of the were no joke and are probably still a factor even now, though less so and downplayed.
Hulk is a big guy - and though I believe that Esteban and possibly Alex are taller than him now, Esteban certainly carries weight very differently to him. Most of the tall drivers since the 1990s have been very skinny to compensate for their height. If we look at the standard build of the grid, the “ideal” body shape for an F1 driver seems to be a kind of muscular jockey build. That’s short, lithe, especially in the hips and waist, with narrower shoulders than most men, and most of all lightweight. They fucking weigh the drivers after the race, and whilst I understand that it’s to calculate fuel allowance, that’s got to be demoralising, potentially nerve-wracking for drivers worried about their weight, and contributes to normalising unacceptable attitudes towards drivers’ bodies by teams.
The drivers that deviate from this build are routinely criticised and made a mockery of for their shapes. Like I know we like to make jokes about “slutty little waists” but think about what we do when we isolate body parts on particular drivers to turn into memes. I’m talking about Daniel’s “child bearing hips” (for which he was berated at McLaren), Valtteri being thick in the waist, Red Bull leaving so little room for Mark Webber’s shoulders that he often needed help getting out of the car. Like if you take twenty of the most talented racers in the world and create vehicles with such little allowance for their bodies that they have to run themselves in starvation mode to succeed, how can we criticise them for driving sub-optimally? And part of that is that they treat drivers who haven’t won a world championship like replaceable parts. If they don’t deliver? No problem, they can change them out?
It would be interesting to see what would happen in a world where there were (barring exceptional circumstances) mandatory driver retention periods. Many drivers never have the benefit of the car being tailored to them and are expected to alter themselves in order to make it drivable, which is really putting the cart before the horse.
