Not clear if the student thought that the painting IS a photo, that recent photos can be taken only of recent paintings, or that any photo of a painting must be contemporaneous with the date of the painting.  Whichever way, it's a bit troubling. -- The image has gone away, so I’m adding it back in again, which will probably result eventually in the image appearing twice.  -- And yes, he DOES look like Sam Rockwell.

I think the reason why I started painting is literally because of Jacques-Louis David. Like I remember seeing a picture of the Coronation of Napoleon for the first time and being like "*points aggressively* THAT. I WANT TO BE LIKE THAT." and then my art style evolved to be more realistic and now im fully incapable of drawing cartoons

watching two 1.5 hour lectures in a row tonight melted my brain idk how non-art majors do this. thats fucked

#have an ethnography project in anthropology and modernism prof just would not shut up about david's oath of the horatii. #did not think art history classes would focus so much on one work of art and yet. #tbf i couldn't attend in-person bc of covid so a) there would have been a longer break in-between and b) i wouldn't be staring at screens #im also realizing switching to majoring in film might not be all that worth it bc my focus is on animation anyway. what better way to #hammer out projects and put them out there than to simply Make them instead of merely learning film studies. i imagine having less hands-on #projects in film is my main deterrent from switching. i really want to take courses on it still tho but im kinda keen on getting a bigger #rep in college. idk it's complicated #also i made creative writing my minor over the summer so to switch majors to film would make me wanna minor in art instead bc i already #have so many credits in it i might as well + i need that illustration exp in case i really do make comics after college. Lmao #my career path is not well-thought out to say the least. i just know my dream is going into the entertainment field that's all i care about
