5:15pm: arrive at home, change into a cute matching loungewear set & take my puppy for a walk
5:30pm: eat dinner
5:45pm: unwind and relax! i do soothing & fun activities like watching a show, going on tumblr/ pinterest & listen to music, texting my friends, playing with my puppy, browsing online shops, and such.
7:00pm: read my book
8:00pm: brush my teeth, do my skincare routine (retinol every other night!!), put on my retainer, & apply eyelash serum
8:15pm: get into cute pj set, turn on my fairy lights & light a candle, & journal
8:45pm: put out all the lights, stretch, & meditate
9:00pm: go to sleep!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
addt'l info:
❥ i stick to a fairly strict daily routine and get all my studies/ schoolwork done by 5pm. this is my personal preference and it allows me to spend the evening completely unwinding!
❥ one of the main goals of my night routine is to avoid screens/ blue light for about an hour before bed. this and going to bed at 9pm are non-negotiable, but sometimes the other bits move around!
❥ i love going to sleep early, and it's what allows me to wake up early as well. 9pm is what works for me but regardless of your preferred bedtime, i recommend making time for 8-9 hours of sleep per night.

how i'm studying for my upcoming semester
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i start my semester around the end of january and im currently in nursing school. with that comes with so many challenges and alot of comprehension in a short time, at least for my program. so i study at least 2 weeks a head but i try to study a month ahead. i get a month and a half off for winter break and a two month off break in the summer. this is my routine in the winter.
i start my studying in january instead of december so i can give myself rest because i didnt want to over do it and go into the semester already burned out.
in december i do make a plan at least so i can have structure when the time comes. my professors give us a glimpse of the content for either the first week or first exam so i use that as my structure. how i plan is making a document and going by week then plan day to day. here is one of my old schedules:
Tumblr media
i give myself at least an hour to complete the tasks unless i am having fun learning about it. i think an hour of my day monday-friday on break is enough to have atleast some background information on what i will be learning, while also not getting burned out. if im having fun learning about it and an hour has passed, i will continue my studying which honestly doesnt always happen.
if you dont have your text books for your classes to study yet, i advise look up your class or topics of your class on yt or online. i also advise to ask your friends or people around campus if they ever took that class so you can gain any knowledge and resources from them. i have friends that are a semester ahead of me so they always tell me about the professors, the workload and give me their notes.
when i study for my upcoming semester, i usually study for the first exam because most likely its within 2 weeks of starting and i only have lecture once a week... that is not alot of time to absorb and comprehend all the information they throw at us. i also start getting things prepared for the semester. if i review a topic and i have questions and need a bit more understanding, i will write it down so i can ask my professor when class starts.
doing this study plan before the semester gives me a jump start and eases me into the academic mood. nursing school is so fast paced that its easy to fall behind. studying before school really eases that fast paced a bit even if its only for the beginning, it gives me time to adjust and since i already studied, im not in total shock school starts.

How to have a productive study session.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When your finals are in 2 days, and you've definitely NOT studied enough, it's normal to panic. You sit down to study and get a solid 30 minutes of calculus done, then jump down the rabbit hole called YouTube. Soon enough the dread creeps up because you're still not done.
As a girl who doesn't attend school regularly due to coaching classes I go to (I'll expand on this later), it's pretty easy to forget to study for exams and projects.
But there's nothing better than getting 98% on that exam. So I'm writing this as someone who's been scoring straight As all my life. Here's how to have a productive study session:
Note: This isn't a guide for romanticising studies. This is meant for a serious, productive session. I will, however, be making a guide to help romanticise studies because I've found it helps a lot.
Before you study
Identify what your distractions are: Let's be real, almost everyone has their phone on hand during study sessions. Put your phone on Do Not Disturb and keep it in a corner of the room. Add a few selected contacts that can reach you while your phone is on DND. If you can turn off notifications entirely, do that.
Taking measures: After I keep my phone away, my brain turns to the next thing it could be distracted by. My laptop and tablet. Put those devices in focus mode, so you won't be tempted to use any other apps and use a Chrome extension like StayFocused or WasteNoTime to not get sidetracked.
Resources: Make sure you have all your material on hand. Video lectures, notes, guides, your formula sheet, and flash cards. Keep everything on hand so you won't have to rifle through papers to find that reference sheet.
Your space: Clean your desk. Keep only the things you need. Your pens and pencils, chargers, annotation material and water bottle. If you want, light a candle. Do not clutter it unnecessarily. Your desk is a sacred space. Treat it that way.
When you sit down
The checklist: Do you have all the material required? Electronics, chargers, a snack and a drink? Water bottle? Extra pen? If you have everything beforehand, you'll be less likely to lose focus because you forgot to charge your headphones.
Make a plan: I cannot stress this enough. You'll sit down and just start studying, and next thing you know, it's 7pm and all you've done is watch videos on celebrity drama. Make a goddamn plan. Write down a realistic number of chapters you can complete and then STICK TO IT.
Begin: Reread and review your notes. I usually like to rewrite my notes in neater handwriting, because my handwriting in class is appalling. To really solidify information, I recommend the 'Blurting' method. Read a paragraph, then close the book and say what you understood out loud. Reread to see what you missed and take note. I did this for my history exam and got a 100%. This shit works for a reason. Use the Pomodoro technique to maximise productivity. Set an alarm for 25 minutes, and do intensive study. Once that's done, take a 5-minute break. Return and repeat.
IMPORTANT
Take a break: Ah yes, if you don't get up every 40 minutes or so for a break, eventually whatever you're studying will start looking like garbage and you'll be back to square one. GET UP. Walk around. STRETCH. You've been looking like a croissant🥐. Eat something. Rehydrate.
Forgive yourself: If you couldn't hit your target, don't be harsh on yourself. Find out the cause: Were you distracted? Did something unavoidable come up? Then try to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Study buddy: This is a double-edged sword. Studying with a friend can either increase your productivity by a massive amount, or it can help you get absolutely zero work done. When revising with a friend, make sure you study with someone who has the same goals as you and won't get distracted by things.
It's 2023, procrastination is cancelled. Go drink some water, eat a granola bar and finish that assignment you've been delaying. Be the person who finishes all their work, on time and perfectly. You can do it.

+ addt'l info:
❥ this schedule is based on my morning routine during the last school year & summer, which is why i am confident that it is doable for me!
❥ my earliest class is 11am, so depending on the day, i plan to either study until class starts or til around 12pm and take a lunch break
+ ways to save time in the morning:
❥ i fill up a glass of water & place it on my nightstand before bed. i also have all my vitamins in a container with daily segments!
❥ i click on a workout video the night before so it's ready to go as soon as i wake up, i just open up my laptop & hit play
❥ i choose my clothes, accessories, etc. the night before + pack my schoolbag in the evening to save time
❥ i sometimes pre-make my breakfast, such as overnight oats and chia pudding, or i eat something quick like toast. i also pack myself lunch the night before so i can grab it in the morning and go! (if you like cold coffee, you can probably make it ahead too, but i prefer mine hot so i take the extra time to do it in the mornings!)
❥ at night i do a hairstyle that keeps my hair neat & untangled as i sleep so it looks good in the mornings! this saves me sm time on styling (unless i'm in the mood to do a cute hairstyle) because it looks great without any effort!
