rando looking for art advice if that's okay :p

I've always wanted to be able to draw cool things for myself, in the same way some of my friends can(they're REALLY good). and I know in order to do that I just gotta draw a lot, practice makes perfect, I'm gonna suck for a while but drawing more means I'll improve. yeah, yeah, I know all that.

but I'm finding it hard to get it started, to get motivated enough to draw. cuz sometimes I'll be like "I wanna draw", and then I draw and it sucks and I'm like "I don't wanna draw :("

do you have any tips for a beginner? not technical art tips, just like how do I get started or get motivated to start. are there tutorials you can recommend(I'm good at following instructions)? or things I can draw that are easy if you're starting out? or just whatever advice.

So, as far as motivation I think I might just be a lil freak, but I draw because I actively like to draw. Even when I wasn't very good, I felt compelled to put pen to paper just for the act of creation so my first piece of advice (besides practice) is just: Make art because you want to and try to divorce whether it's good or not from your enjoyment in that act.

My second piece of advice is that the first year of art school is three critical tools that are really boring but really helpful. The first one is perspective. If you can nail perspective, just dumb lines leading back in space, it does so much heavy lifting for you.

The second tool is sight measuring. Have you ever seen artists doing that stupid thing with their pencil or paintbrush while closing one eye? It's literally so helpful. If you are drawing say a tree, and you drop an imaginary vertical line from a branch you can figure our if your drawing of that tree is awry. When you get good at sight measuring it becomes second nature to do those checks, even in digital art, but it's easy to forget. When I'm doing my little 20 minute speed paints I'm constantly sight measuring to keep stuff in proportion.

The last piece is that practicing drawing from life will improve your drawing so much faster than anything else. Doodling your favorite pokemon or anime character over and over won't be as helpful as boring ass still lifes. Seeing how light reacts, observing the objects form, and practicing sight measuring will all help you improve as an artist.

As tax, I'm going to share a couple examples of schoolwork. This was my first class in perspective. This is how much I improved in a three month period, my first middle and last assignment.

These are from my form class, no lines allowed we needed to use value to describe the form. We did charcoal and gouache so here's me trying to show my progression in that class.

These are just freshman work, from my very first semester. Honestly I have a whole folder of all my assignments so I can scroll through and actively see myself improving, and I highly recommend that too, because it's wildly motivational to see how far you've come!

1. are you named after anyone? my legal name is based off my great grandmother’s name, but my parents thought it was too angular, so they changed it slightly to match my round baby face.

2. when was the last time you cried? last night? i was watching a movie and i cried lol

3. do you have kids? no, and i never want them. if it was up to me, i wouldn’t have a uterus at all.

4. do you use sarcasm a lot? me? use sarcasm? never.

5. what sports do you play/have you played? i did a lot of sports when i was younger. cross country, track & field, traditional japanese martial arts, and artistic gymnastics. i don’t do any of these anymore, but i do miss gymnastics a lot and i was almost a first degree black belt.

6. what’s the first thing you notice about people? this is a new development since getting my invisalign, but i notice ppl’s teeth now. i used to notice their eyes and like bee, notice them and then look away quickly.

7. what’s your eye colour? dark brown, stereotypical dark asian brown eyes.

8. scary movies or happy endings? scary, i love to laugh at characters being dumb.

9. any special talents? i can crack a lot of my joints...?

10. where were you born? south korea

11. what are your hobbies? making gifs, listening to music, collecting funko pops and buttons, playing animal crossing and pokemon games, watching movies/tv shows, sleeping, painting my nails, cuddling with my cat... i think that’s it...

12. do you have pets? i do, i have a black kitty named toothless. i would love to have another cat with her, an all white cat. i would name them marceline, no matter their gender, bc names aren’t gendered. i would call them, “marcie” for short.

13. how tall are you? 5'0″

14. favourite subject in school? art

15. dream job? putting chapstick/lipstick/lip gloss/lip balm on idol’s lips. all idols, i’m not picky about their gender lol

Out of curiosity do you have any headcanons for N? I love how you draw him tbh

Thank you!! I do have some~

-Ok first, lemme start with some songs that just lead me to think about this guy™. He shares one song I relate to Hilbert (but that's because I have this thing of imagining small animations in my head when I listen to them and each one of the Unova gang shares one song with Hil) and it's MILABO. Besides that, I think Ready To and Night Running fit him as well.

Also this.

-After N left the Pokemon League in BW1, he talked to Reshiram/Zekrom, and asked them to leave him. (Something along the lines of him thinking he is not worthy of having the legendary pokemon at his side).

They never left.

-He was also hoping to find the BW1 protag again too. But never went to search for them himself. Fear? Maybe. Perhaps he didn't want to see them again until he felt he was ready to, until he felt he finally got a good grasp on who he really is and what he wants to do with what happened at the pokemon league.

Those two are more general headcanons I think. I mean that... they can fit with either version and protag.

Now with more specific ones...

-He plays with the bracalets he has on his left wrist. Mostly when he gets truly nervious, but sometimes when he isn't really doing anything and it's bored.

-I like the "N is a Zoroark", tho not in the way of he is one playing as a human. More in the sense that, when he was a child and was still living among pokemon, there was a zoroark that took care of him (besides other pokemon aound).

From here also comes the idea that yes, he has a zoroark brother.

-Adding to this. He doesn't cut his hair, and if he does it's only ever a bit of it. It's his way of feeling more connected to his brother.

-The unova gang plus some other people are constantly introducing him to new things. Sure, in the time he was gone roaming around the Unova region he was able to do things for himself. But I think there's some charm in having others (his friends) help him experiment new things too.

Bianca and Rosa introduced him to nail polish and he is a bit facinated with the fact that he can paint his nails red.

-Did I say I think of him as nonbinary demiro?? no??? Well there's that.

-Thinks of the BW protags as little siblings. Specially Hilbert.

-Knows Red, gets along pretty well with him. He is quite surprised of his ability of comunicating with his pokemon without the need of words.

Blue is a bit angry at the fact that N could understand Red after just a few minutes of meeting him.

-He was the one to send 100 requests to Lear's desk for the construction of a ferriswheel in Pasio, each one with detailed information about them and full of formulas the prince didn't quite understand. Lear appreciates N's enthusiasm.

Hilbert was laughting so hard when he heard about it from Cheren.

-Iris thaught him the art of storing things in his hair. He finds it really usefull.

-Besides that, he spends some of his time around the Unovan Champion. He truly respects Iris not only as the champion and trainer but also as a person. She is like... an excitable little sister that at times feels like an older one.

-Gets along really well with the subway bosses. The three of them have gotten into full six hours conversations about trains.

-The Unova Gym Leaders (first game) and the Elite four check on him every once and then. A bit like the same treatment they give Cheri.

N is confused at their kindness, but he is greatfull for it.

-"Granpa Alder" and "hey gramps...".

-Yes he bonds with Cheren through Alder. They share a granpa.

-They both recieve very painful back pats.

-Nate looks up to him, and he also worries about him, a lot.

Pokemon AU Aesa!

Aesa is from Stow-on-Side, Galar! Her first pokemon was a Galarian Ponyta that she named Siobhan. Later on she gets an Eevee that she names Ley & it evolves into a Sylveon. While she does enjoy battling, she hates seeing pokemon get hurt, so she keeps LOTS of potions, sprays, & revives on her at all times. One day, an Ultra Wormhole opened & her parents & siblings (she has an older sister & brother who are twins named Annabell & Alastair who specialize in Multi Battles). She was so distraught that she ran away into Glimwood Tangle. While lost in the forest, sitting next to a tree crying, a little Morelull came up to her & tried to comfort her. It helped her find her way back out of the forest & actually followed her home. She ends up engaging in a friendly battle with it, & upon catching it, it evolved into a Shiinotic.

A few weeks later, Brim comes to Stow-on-Side after hearing about the Ultra Wormhole and meets Aesa, who begs Brim to let her join The Paradox Society so she can help find her family. Brim challenges her to a pokemon battle as a test (Brim only uses Salem, Niveus, and Ruflus as a handicap since Aesa only has 3 pokemon), and although Aesa puts up a good fight, Brim ultimately wins. She is impressed by Aesa's passion & skill, as well as her care for her pokemon, and decides to let her join.

Aesa moves to Unova to work with Brim at TPS headquarters (TPS makes sure that Aesa's family's home & pokemon are taken care of in their absence).

At some point, Brim gives a Darumaka egg to Aesa (although Aesa's team is made up of fairy type pokemon, she does have a soft spot for fire types; she's also never seen a non-Galarian Darumaka in person so when Aesa expresses her excitement to see the egg hatch, Brim decides to give it to her), who borrows a pokemon with Flame Body from TPS (The Paradox Society has it's own nursery where agents can leave pokemon they aren't using; it also lends out pokemon if an agent needs a particular one for a mission) so she can make it hatch faster & ends up naming the Darumaka "Keegan".

Aesa likes multi battles where she can play support to a more offensive partner, but she can hold her own in single battles as well.

Her sister Ann was really into martial arts & taught Aesa a bit so she could defend herself if she ever ended up in a situation where she didn't have her pokemon to defend her. This somewhat backfired when in middle school, Aesa overheard a boy mocking another boy for having a fairy type pokemon & started a fight with the rude boy. Their parents forbid Ann from teaching Aesa how to fight & encouraged her to channel her anger into a pokemon battle, but Ann continued to teach her in secret.

If anyone disses fairy type pokemon & Aesa catches wind of it, she will fight them (whether it's a pokemon battle or a fist fight depends on the circumstances).

Aesa likes to paint her nails to match her pokemon, usually going with colors to match Siobhan. She also has bolo ties in different colors to match her pokemon, but usually goes with the one that matches Ley. She has 3 different pairs of glasses to match the colors of her main three pokemon but usually wears the purple/green for Spunkie, and has a pair of sunglasses with colors to match Keegan.

i’m thinking of cute sghr AGAIN. sghr painting each other’s nails. florian is weirdly good at it (was once really into nail art and then dropped it for years), and kieran is like. Ok. a little smudged but that’s only on his right hand (sometimes carmine would ask him to paint her non-dominant hand cuz it’s Hard) sghr hanging out except they’re both clinging to each other and laughing at each and looking into each others eyes and everyone can tell they’re in love. sghr spooning while florian rambles about his interests and kieran listening attentively while he rests his head on florian’s head cuz he’s the big spoon. kieran accompanying florian on their shiny hunts just to look at them for hours and make sure they take breaks to eat and rest.

sghr swapping clothes for literally no reason other than it smells like them. yes they both run a little hot. yes they’re both still wearing a jacket in the sweltering heat. Partner Jacket. timeskip sghr eating dinner together. sghr cuddling on the couch as they watch a show or kieran watches florian play a game. kieran infodumping about the newest competitive comp and complaining about how there’s always ALWAYS that one pokemon in every team and florian’s like. don’t you also have that pokemon (its incineroar).

A Venus x Maxie one-shot I whipped up over the course of a few days!

I hope Maxie is in-character! 😬🤞

On an uneventful day, Venus was feeling bored, and wanted to do something. All her girlfriends were busy, so shopping was out; she didn’t want to go alone either.

She was currently at home with her redheaded husband, but he was absorbed into a book on the living room couch, and didn’t seem interested in curing her boredom; not even her current outfit, consisting of cute moon shorts, and a flattering spooky-printed camisole, caught his attention.

She entered the living room, and puffed her bangs up, intentionally being indiscreet. Maxie didn’t even glance up from his book. She walked over to the couch, opposite to him, and draped her upper body over the top with another deep sigh. Still nothing. In a third try, she knelt down right behind his back, and rested her arms and small nose on the arm of the couch. “I’m bored,” She moaned.

“Heard you the whole time.” He still kept his back to her. “Why don’t you go out with your girl friends?”

“They’re all busy, and I don’t want to go out alone. Who will give me ideas?”

“Then bake those cookies you made me get last week.”

“It’s not close enough to Valentine’s Day yet,” She pouted.

“Design something, then.” As a hobby, she made designs for apparel, jewelry, and furnishing that were, as he would put it, macabre. Lots of dark colors and printings, plus certain Pokemon inserted in. It wasn’t his thing, personally, but it was definitely hers, as evident by some of the decor scattered around the house.

“I’m having an art block,” She whined.

He rolled his eyes. She could be a real child sometimes. “Well V, I’m reading this right now, so if you’re bored, find something for yourself until I’m finished with this chapter.”

Now Maxie loves his wife more than anything, but he also enjoyed alone times when they were available. And normally, she did too; but she had occasional moments of craving his attention.

She sat down on the couch cushion in front of him, and pouted again where he could see, with a little whimper and head tilt for good measure.

Maxie stayed focused on his book, trying not to notice the Goth girl in his peripherals. How her black-painted lashes fluttered under her thick, green bangs, and framed her deep, forest green eyes. Or how her shorts effectively showed off her smooth, ivory legs, and her top hugged her tiny body in all the right places. Thankfully for him, his will to not give in triumphed; his gaze stayed on the captivating story in front of him.

Venus dropped the cute look in disappointment. That didn’t work. She looked down, and smirked; he was sitting with his legs parallel to one another, bent comfortably like a triangle, and no shoes. Or socks.

Bingo.

Her recently-manicured hand sneakily drew to his left foot, while her eyes stayed on him. He didn’t notice what she was doing. She gently drew her black nails down from the ankle; before she could reach his toes, he reacted.

She burst into laughter at his jerking motion, and the high-pitched tone of the loud yelp he unleashed. Not to mention his book flying from his hands, and landing on the carpet with a thump. “Venus!”

“Oh my God, that was amazing!” She wheezed, doubling over. “I didn’t think you were capable of that tone!”

Maxie caught his breath from the mini heart attack she just gave him. “Don’t do that!”

“What?” She teased. “This?” She tickled the top of his foot again.

“AAH!” His leg kicked up to push her hand away, but she grabbed onto his ankle. “Yes, that!”

A devious grin grew on her face, as her grip became more firm. “You and me both know that’s not going to happen.” She began lightly tickling the bottom of his foot with her sharp nails.

“Vehehehehenuhuhuuhuhus!” Maxie began giggling and squirming hysterically, trying to pull his leg back. She was stronger than she looked. “Stohohohohop!”

“No way!” She shook her head. “Now I’m no longer bored! And you’re just so cute!”

“Dahahahamihihihihit Venus, stop ihihihihit! GAAH!!” He squealed when she went for his toes. “NOHOHOHOHOHO!! NOHOHOHOT THEHEHEHEHERE!!”

“Ooh, sweet spot!” Venus grinned like the little imp she was.

“IHIHIHI SWEHEHEHAHAHAHAR, VEHEHEHENUHUHUHUS, IHIHIHIHI’LL KILL YOHOHOUHUHUHUHUHU!!”

“I wouldn’t be making threats if I were you,” She teased, “I have the upper hand, baby.” She stopped, but quickly crawled into his lap, and ravaged his sides with both hands.

“NOHOHOHOHOHO!!!” He howled with laughter, and tried to shield himself. “VEHEHEHEHEHENUHUHUHUS, STOHOHOHOHOP!!! GEHEHEHEHET OHOHOHOHOFF OF MEHEHEHEHEHE!!!”

“Sometimes I forget how ticklish you are, Max,” She giggled, “But then it comes back to me.” She stopped after a few minutes, and backed off to let him breathe.

Maxie panted and heaved for air, as he sat up with his legs away from her sneaky fingers. This wasn’t exactly her first attack. “Y’know V, I would’ve been done with that chapter by now, if you haven’t done that. Now you have to wait longer, little missy.”

Venus smirked at him, then practically dove to the floor, and snatched the book up. “Come and get it!” She dared, then made a run for it to the hall.

With an eye roll, Maxie slid down on his feet, and ran after her. Surely someone as tiny as her couldn’t be that fast, right?

Turns out, that someone could be.

She kept up her little game for at least five minutes, scaling the whole house, and slowly wearing him out; she even slid between his legs to escape him, all the while keeping the book out of his reach. He tried to grab one of her ankles, but narrowly missed; the chase was immediately back on.

In the living room where it started, it seemed good luck turned to Maxie’s corner. Venus had to slow down to dodge some furniture in the room, and he managed to catch up to her. She squeaked and dropped the book when he quickly wrapped his arms around her waist. “Nohoho!” She was laughing already.

“Your turn, V-V,” He teased, and wiggled his fingers into her ribs.

“NAAAHAHAHAHA!!” She squealed, and squirmed wildly. “HAHAHAHAHA, STAHAHAHAHAHAP!!”

“Oh no, this is my time, girlie,” He smirked.

Venus threw her head back, and clamped her arms down when he shifted up into her armpits. “GAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!” She tried to pull his hands away, but her energy was draining from his revenge.

She reached one hand around, and managed to start tickling his back. “AAGH!!” Maxie jerked away, bumping into her; he stopped his own attack long enough for her to turn around and regain the advantage. “NOHOHOHOHO, NOHOHOT THEHEHEHEHERE!!!” He shouted with laughter. “VEHEHEHEHENUHUHUHUS, STOHOHOHOHOHOP!!!” They both ended up on the floor, as her fingers skittered all over his back, even going along his spine, as his cheeks turned as red as his hair. She pinned him down on the floor, pulled his shirt up, and blew a raspberry in his belly, as her hands went for his sides again at the same time. “GAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!” He screamed. Since it was a rare moment of her lacking makeup, she didn’t leave any lipstick residue... this time. Though her long, soft hair draping down did him no favors. “VEHEHEHEHEHE, YOU’RE KIHIHIHIHIHILLING MEHEHEHEHEHE!!!”

She then backed off to let him recover. “For someone as stoic as you, you sure are cute when you laugh.”

He smirked at her through more panting. “I should... say the same... about you.”

“Thanks.” She crawled over to him, giggling when he tensed up. “I promise I’m done,” She said sincerely.

“O-okay.” She shifted into his lap, now with better intentions, and initiated a kiss between them. He happily reciprocated, wrapping his arms around her shoulders. Little did she know, the sweet moment wasn’t going to last.

She may had concluded her playful tickle attack for the day.

But Maxie wasn’t done yet.

As she pulled away, his hands sneaked down to her midsection, before going absolutely crazy on her sides. “NAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!” She screamed, and thrashed under him. “NOHOHOHOHOT THEHEHEHEHEHERE!!! NOHOHOHOT MY SIHIHIHIHIDES, PLEHEHEHEAHAHASE!!!” She accidentally let a loud snort out amidst her laughter.

“Did you just snort?” Maxie chuckled. “That’s adorable; you sounded like a Tepig.”

“AAAAGH, STAHAHAHAHAHAP!!!” She howled.

“Are you going to attack me like you did again?”

“YEHEHEHEHES!!!”

Maxie smirked with a quick eye roll. Again, what a child. “Wrong answer, missy.” He dug into where her sensitive waist curved in, unleashing more loud, squealy laughter. “Now for the second time, are you going to attack me like that again?”

“NOHOHOHOHO, I WOHOHOHOHON’T!!!” She shook her head frantically.

He then drew his hands away, though not without briefly tickling her flat belly where her top had ridden up, making her shoot up in a sitting position. She heaved in exhaustion, hugging herself as much as humanely possible. “S-sorry I started it,” She giggled, “I was bored, and you’re just so cute.”

“I don’t think you really are, but I’ll take it,” He teased, and leaned for a kiss.

She giggled, and pulled away after a few seconds. “You’re right.”

MY GOD THIS IS SO CUTE 😭😭 I loved every word! This was such a pleasant surprise to wake up to! Jdhdhfjdjsndkfkm *dies*

This will help me a little better in writing for Venus in the future! And I’m writing these remaining fics for you! 😭 This makes me smile so much, it’s so cute!

Dream:

Percy and Annabeth - Percy Jackson

Nerd alert. He’s a percy kinnie and he wants to go as percy and annabeth and that’s that. you agree when he gives you those puppy eyes and calls you his “wise girl” (i’m going to scream). You spend the evening basically in character bc he keeps knocking things over with his sword and you keep wondering how you got here. you look cute in your matching orange shirts tho, makes it the most obvious-that-you’re-a-couple couple costume which dream is a fan of bc he’s clingy :3

Anakin and Padme - Star Wars

I repeat: NERD ALERT. He needs an excuse to buy a lightsaber and carry it around for the evening quoting that frickin “if you’re not with me, then you’re my enemy” thing. also he gets high key flustered seeing you dressed as his childhood crush, especially in that white outfit 😳 ((padme amidala supremacy🧎)) side note, this is actually not a couples costume because it also includes sapnap as obi-wan lmao. he is only slightly less nonplussed than you are

It was your idea, and admittedly sort of a cop out. you were busy ok??? but when you brought home the pokemon onesies, Sap was 100% on board. A fun halloween costume and he got to be cosy all evening?? how could he say no. Plus he thought you looked unfairly adorable with your lil flame tail and and literal sweater paws. can’t stop putting his arms round you all evening :))) 🔥

Fred and Daphne - Scooby Doo

mans agrees to go as fred and daphne so he can see you in a mini skirt send tweet

but fr it’d be cute as heck and i can see some of your friends going as the rest of the scooby gang (karl and tina as shaggy and velma? iconic??) dream might even let you put a scooby doo collar on patches for photos 🐾

George:

Flint Lockwood and Sam Sparks - Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Basically i think George isn’t super into costumes so the idea has to be reasonably low-key if you want to convince him. this one was perfect bc it really only involved wrestling the boy into a lab coat and attacking his hair with some extra strength hold gel (win win bc you get to have your hands in his hair and he gets to have your hands in his hair 😌) but the effect was still very much there. meanwhile you’re stuck hot glueing pipe cleaners and pom-poms to an umbrella to make a spaghetti and meatballs twister reference prop so your costume isn’t just a blue cardigan lol. george is very nice about the ugly ass homemade prop that you end up throwing in a skip after three drinks :3

Karl:

Ashitaka and San - Princess Mononoke

Karl would basically be down for any Ghibli duo but this is the one i can see him pulling off (as much as i would die to see him in a howl pendragon wig). You guys would put together the costumes yourself (couples crafts 😍) and they come out so cuuuute. I don’t normally include photos but these are the exact vibes i’m envisioning:

Cosmo and Wanda - Fairly OddParents

Iconic and easy to pull off with some simple colour coding. you get those spray cans of non-permanent hair dye from like claire’s and get it all over your dang hands help each other apply it. you also paint each other’s nails and you make little gold crowns and wands with stars on the end. actually adorable vibes by the time you’re done. highly instagrammable and you keep a polaroid of the two of you in costume in your phone case 🥺

also i think he’d wanna go as sword art online characters maybe? but i haven’t played it so

Quackity:

Lightning McQueen and Sally Carrera - Cars

For Sawyer and Rachel…

-Much like how Lear looks up to Rachel and Sawyer and thinks of them as family (older siblings), Sawyer and Rachel think of Lear as their little brother. They would deny any claims on this though, as, under their eyes, this would be unprofessional from them as Lear’s retainers.

(And Lear could deny it, but if they ever told this to him he would be really, really happy.)

-I don’t think?? I've seen a lot of how Sawyer ended up serving Lear’s family or how he ended up as one of his retainers anywhere in the game?? I kind of made up something myself. Like, Sawyer’s family being something like, the lead/head of the servants in the house? Lear’s mother requesting Sawyer’s mother/father to let their son play with hers? And all that just leads to him ending up as his retainer.

That would make it so those two have known eachother longer than Rachel has known Lear, but I think Rachel would meet them like…a year later (if not only a few months) after Lear and Sawyer meet.

-Rachel actually has hands, and painted nails. If you have seen my art of Lear with his nails painted then I’ll let you know it's her who taught him how to paint them and/or does it for him. If she finds the time, she will do some nail-art. Has convinced Sawyer to let her paint his too. Not too often, but sometimes he will have one or two colored in a nice color that doesn’t stand out too much, sometimes with a small little design too.

-Sawyer does some painting. Idk why this came to me. I just think it is a nice hobby. I imagine he paints a variety of things, small objects, flowers, landscapes, sometimes people too. He does it to relax and clear up his mind a bit, sticks to making simple artworks but if he has the time he will work on more complex ones. Any painting you see decorating some of the rooms of the Battle Villa are probably his.

-There’s this one lullaby they will both either sing or hum whenever Lear is not feeling ok. Something the queen used to sing as well to a younger little star and his two best friends.

-Both have a HUGE respect towards Cynthia and Cheren too. With Cheren they are a lot closer, not being afraid of asking for his assistance in anything if they see it necessary (they avoid it, since he is more of a guest on the island, but know they can count on him). They are kind of terrified of Cynthia, from what they’ve heard as well as from what they have seen themselves. They still think of her as a very kind, very nice, very cute woman tho.

Cheren…

-The boy, the guy, the teacher ever. All of his students think of him as a great teacher and trainer, and look up to him. He is often swarmed by the younger ones asking him about any recent battles he had or what he did while he was traveling around Unova. He would be ignored so much in class if it wasn’t because his class actually likes him and has a hive-mind of “he knows, he knows and we should listen to any advice he gives us”.

-As much as he is loved by his class and the trainers he has selected and trained with for the gym, they all also kinda hate him. They hate him because every once and then the one book shelf reserved for decoration in class gets a new cursed figurine placed by yours truly. Is it one of those weird looking amoonguss? A weird spoink inside an egg with a system to make the egg move continuously? The most bootleg-looking action figure of Ex-champion Alder doing that dance from that shooter game that was famous for a few years? No one knows what’s next but they all cringe at the sight of any new item their teacher decides to bring.

-Got the habit of holding hands from Bianca. Only with very close friends or family though (Hilbert and Bianca, Hilda, N sometimes, Lear too, Sawyer and Rachel as well from time to time).

-Some pokemon from his original team are staying with his family, other (like Serperior) stay with Prof. Juniper, helping her out. He didn’t want to leave them in the PC box without anything to do. The only one staying with him currently is Liepard, who mostly stays at his place lazing around.

-A disaster when it comes to romance.

-Easily flusters. Whenever Rosa, Nate, Hugh or any of the others gives him a compliment he will get a slight pink hue on his cheeks.

Have you ever become good friends with someone you never met in person? Oh yeah, I've had best friends over the Internet. Hell, I'm closer to many online friends than I am most irl ones. They know "the real me" more. What do you consider your default mood to be? Stressed, probably. Discontent. What’s the longest amount of time you’ve ever kept a goldfish alive for? Not long. Proper goldfish husbandry is a very neglected topic, and I sure as hell never knew how to set up its tank adequately. Have you ever been paintballing? No, don't plan to. It looks like it hurts like a bitch. Do you want a large wedding? No. Did you ever collect any sort of cards? I had a very small collection of Pokemon cards. I didn't collect them avidly. What’re the best and worst books you ever had to read for a class? The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton was the best. The worst was some book we had to read in the 6th grade about a kid during some war that moved around a lot... I don't remember the name or who wrote it, but it sucked. What’s the best meal you had at an amusement park, or If you haven’t been to one, how about a good meal at another place like a zoo, aquarium or museum? I don't know. I haven't been to many. Or maybe paying my $100 deposit for my tattoo was most recent, idk. Soonest thing you are looking forward to? For Mom to get her CT scan and find out what's going on in there. What did you do today? It was a pretty average day. I woke up way too early, though. The only thing even semi-unique about today was I played World of Warcraft for a few hours again; I've been quite unattached to it lately, but I went through an episode today of actually having fun playing. Oh, and I've been battling a migraine. It's more of a severe headache now, at least, but it still sucks big time. Do you like to see it snowing outside? Oh yes, absolutely! When you were in high school did you ever have bomb threats? I believe once we did from a very volatile student that honestly caused quite a lot of trouble. He's dead now. Who knows ALL of your secrets? Nobody. Did you have a job before you were in college? No. Have you ever thought about what it would be like to have a baby right now? That's a terrifying thought, no. Would you ever go to Japan? Oh, yes. I would love to. It's... very morbid, but I would really like to walk the (public) paths of Aokigahara Forest, nicknamed "Suicide Forest" for the horrible amount of, well, suicides that happen there via hanging. Like, you might just casually run into a dead body. I want to just... feel it there, walk in silence and empathize with people who didn't know what else to do and hope so deeply that those departed know they were never alone in their pain. I know with absolute certainty I'd probably be teary-eyed the whole time and cry a whoooole lot, but it's just an experience I want to have. What was the last thing you went to Walmart for? Some basic groceries. What should you be doing right now? Sleeping, given this headache... I just don't want to yet. Are you afraid of getting your heart broken? I'm fucking terrified of that ever happening again, far more than words can properly express. Have you ever been in a choir? I have a permanent metal one behind my front row of bottom teeth to keep those straight. No. I'm tired, my head hurts, and I'm enjoying the song I'm bingeing. It's so weird, I rarely ever go on music hunting trips (no real reason, I just... don't), but I've found great shit lately. I only do it because I don't want my teeth decaying, falling out, or getting too yellow, and the taste in your mouth and gritty texture on your teeth isn't exactly great when you don't brush. I also lose my train of thought a whoooole lot. Have you ever layed in a hammock? Yeah; we had one growing up. Have you ever lost a pet in a tragic way? How did you cope? Well yeah, I've had lots of pets, so thus lost some in particularly painful ways. The most scarring loss of a pet though is as follows: Teddy, my dog, picked up one of our cat's very young, wandering kittens in his jaws in a manner that looked as if he was trying to carry it like Aphrodite (the mother cat) does when she would bring them back behind the couch, where she gave birth/had her little "nest." I absolutely freaked and had to pry the kitten from his mouth, and it slowly died in my hands. I think Teddy accidentally crushed its ribs. I. Was. A. Mess. Then, there was Aphrodite herself. I've told the story before of our former neighbors calling animal control because our cats would wander through their yard, and all of our cats were taken away while I was unaware at school. Came home, and they were all gone. Aphrodite was my baby, so I was devastated. Screaming, sobbing, cursing on the porch for like 20 minutes... It was awful. What type of curtains do you like? I don't... know? I don't know the actual names of any types... What type of quality is a must-have in a friend? I absolutely cannot be friends with someone who thinks they're above everyone else. Are you any good at reading someone's body language? I think I am. What goes good with a nice cold glass of milk? Cookies! Especially Oreos. Dip it in there for around five seconds, and it's perfection. What fruit is too sweet to you? Grapefruit came to mind first. How did you feel after your first kiss? I had butterflies galore and was so giddy and smiley. After the first, I just wanted to kiss him a billion more times. What’s your favorite constellation and why? I don't have one. Shower curtain or door? Curtain. The glass doors are too revealing. Have you ever thought to yourself that you’re the luckiest person in the world? Most deeeeefinitely not. What time of day do you most enjoy looking at the sky? Sunset if there are clouds present, but sunrise if the sky is pretty clear.

Below the Keep Reading is Tron OC thoughts and ideas, complete with super janky Paint art as I try to nail some thoughts down.

I’ve had this character for ages, but I’ve never really done anything with her. Every now and then, I poke at her, but haven’t really done anything until now.

She’s mainly based on the player character from the Tron Evolution DS game.

Her name is Ark, back years ago when I was trying to come up with a name for her, I remembered some Tron characters are named after old video games. When trying to think of an old game to possibly name her after, all I could think of was Arkanoid, because I had just read an article that mentioned it. Arkanoid felt wrong, so I shortened it to Ark.

The player character in the game is a System Monitor, not sure if that’s the route I want to take with her, but I do like the idea of her being some kind of security Program. (The player character gets named whatever name you named your DS, so maybe technically she’s a DS or game Program.)

She probably relies on her disc for combat. And, maybe a spear. I’m not sure what I think about her having a spear, so that’s just a floating idea.

She’s probably middle of the road in combat and Lightcycle driving, likely slightly better at combat than driving. I haven’t really nailed down her abilities.

I’m not sure what color her circuits are yet, it’s been a while since I was really involved with Tron, so I’ve forgotten the color meanings. They’re probably blue or white, though.

She’s a regular Program and not an Iso.

Here’s a screenshot of Ark as the player character in the DS game. Her circuits feel a little bit generic, but they’re not bad. I do have a few ideas of possible modifications to her outfit and circuits, though.

In two episodes of the Pokemon anime (Enter Elesa, Electrifying Gym Leader! and Dazzling the Nimbasa Gym!) there’s this lady who oversees the fights at the Nimbasa Gym.

Her outfit feels very Tron, so I think I could maybe borrow a bit of her style to liven up Ark’s circuits. I don’t like the gloves for Ark, and I’m side-eying the collar for her, but overall, it’s a pretty good starting point. The shirt being sleeveless has some good potential.

Now, for the janky Paint part. I’ve had a few ideas for potential outfit parts, and I wanted to scribble them down before I forgot. They are definitely very rough draft and can use many improvements, but I think they serve the purpose as a reminder and a placeholder well enough.

First up is arm sleeves, these are mostly for if I go with the sleeveless top part design. They’re not terribly exciting, they’re just black with a rectangle of light in the middle.

There’s no particular inspiration behind these, they just kinda popped in my head. I’m not sure how I feel about them for Ark, but they could work, maybe with some potential alterations.

Up next is the possible leg design. I’m probably going with a one piece suit for the main part of her design, so the leg parts are connected to the top.

The leg design consists of a larger square near the top of the leg connected to a smaller square near the bottom part of the leg.

I’m not feeling 100% on it, but I think it’s neat.

The circuit design is directly based off a decoration on the outside of an old Opryland ride called Chaos. Every so often I remember Chaos, and the circuits on the outside have always fascinated me. The last time I was doing research on Chaos, I looked up the circuits and thought they could be used for a Tron design. It took me a while to figure out a good use for them, but I think it works

Next is a possible boot design. Not much to say here, I just kinda like the idea of a small strip of light going down the back of the side of the boot. Maybe there could be a few other circuit accents added here and there.

Last is a torso design. I’m gonna start off by saying that I hate it for Ark. But, I think it could have potential, so I might end up using it for another character sometime.

This torso design consists of three nested arrows/upside down Vs. It’s simple and very experimental, I just wanted to see what the concept could look like.

The inspiration behind this one is Galarian Corsola’s mouth. I was trying to think of things I like and how I could incorporate them into circuit designs, and that’s the first thing that popped into my head.

I think that’s all for now about Ark, which is more than I’ve done in years, but hey, it’s progress.

I’ll probably be poking at her on and off, so I might end up with some more ideas for her soon. And, I hope to do a canon review of as much Tron as I can get my hands on, so hopefully that should spark some ideas. (I’ve been playing Tron Run/r lately, which has given me a few thoughts, but none towards Ark, lol.)
