HEART PIRATES WEEK 2024 - Part 4 of 9
I told myself last year that I was going to participate in Heart Pirates Week this year, and by thunder I'm going to participate in Heart Pirates Week!
Day Four: Ikkaku - Night
669 words; this is me pouring one out to the times I worked late shifts, especially the midnights; this one is very safe for work, actually, but does reference potentially disordered eating out of one (1) individual, so that’s a thing to watch for I guess; again: what is proofreading lol
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Shift assignments were honestly not the worst thing in the world, but honestly… most of them had experienced much worse. Three sets of mandatory shifts, eight hours each; that would last for a month before everything was reassigned, four shifts of six hours. The months would cycle as such, with people getting shuffled back and forth with little care as to where they ended up. Things were always new and different that way. Besides, most people still hung out with one another even when they weren’t on their mandatory shift, making things somewhat different from the traditional sailing vessels.
Then again, when one rides in a submarine in a world of sail and paddle boats, everything is a little different, isn’t it?
The only thing that wasn’t different, Ikkaku knew, was the overnight shift. It was her sixth month in a row working the overnight detail and she was beginning to wonder if the goobers that drew the lots every month had it out for her. Uni had tagged her out of the boiler room for a break, allowing her the chance to head to the top deck and enjoy the breeze that they were afforded thanks to giving the engines a break and unfurling their own sail.
It was quiet, peaceful even, as she listened to the soft sound of the waves against the metal hull of the ship. They had already passed into the climate zone of an Autumn Island, the gentle currents guiding them the rest of the way to their destination. It was the sort of silence that was reassuring and calming for some and yet restless and loud for another. A thought of the Captain crossed her mind; he was likely pacing around his tiny cabin with no sleep, no dinner, and no plans to rectify either. She sighed heavily; might as well check.
Trying to not make too much noise, Ikkaku went back below deck to the mess hall, where she found the log where everyone who watched the Captain eat something. It was last updated by Bepo that morning (dry breakfast cereal, coffee, banana); the math wasn’t difficult. When she couldn’t find whichever idiot was supposed to be on kitchen duty, she scraped together what she could find (an apple, some carrots with salad dressing, a tin of herring) and brought it along with the herbal tea that Bepo instructed everyone how to make. She went to the Captain’s quarters with the tray in-hand and knocked on the door. Sure enough, Law opened it much faster than if he had been sleeping, and the stack of books and papers on his desk wasn’t helping any.
“What’s this?” He eyed the contents of the tray and scowled, realization slowly creeping onto his face. “I’m not hungry.”
“You haven’t eaten since breakfast.”
“How do you know?”
“A birdie told me. Now are you going to eat or am I going to have a snack while I clean out the boilers?”
The Captain thought about that for half a second before taking the tray and closing the door behind him. Ikkaku stood there and waited for his brain to catch up, then his manners. In moments he was opening the door again with a cowed expression on his face.
“Thank you,” he mumbled. “I know you’re not my mom, or my maid. Mechanics have better things to do than watch over me.”
“That’s right,” she replied. “I will beat your ass if I catch you not eating on my shift when you’re up during it. You understand?”
“Yeah.” He didn’t make eye contact as they stood there, the doorway suddenly feeling rather small. “Can I go now?”
Ikkaku patted the Captain atop his head and smirked. “Yeah.” He then retreated quickly, which allowed her to head back to the mess hall and write down in the log that food was at least accepted before she got back to Uni and the boiler room.
At least she knew the rest of her sift would be quiet.

Smallest Cyber Specialist (pt. 10)
in which price sets pip down for a little chat & check in. poor gal's had one helluva week. now that alex is confirmed back & alive, i'm SCRAMBLING… (don't get me wrong i'm delighted to see my beloved yankee again but) i was already struggling to work his disappearance into the timeline & now it's all just an even bigger mess --w-- oh well. we don't need to pay attention to canon timelines! this is fanfiction! so what i say in my story goes. first • previous • next call of duty | john mactavish/soap, john price, & pip lagomorph/lag (oc) 4,392 words strong language warning thanks for reading!! patreon ✨ ko-fi ✨ ao3
The sound of approaching boots woke Pip from her nap. Her body stiffened, stock still under the cover of her newly finished pelt. It wasn’t perfect—not near as lifelike as she would have made if she’d had access to proper hideling tools—but it would still serve its purpose when needed.
As the boots drew closer, Pip realized that she knew those footsteps. That gait. The hideling sat up abruptly, the pelt draped over her head and shoulders like a hooded cloak. “Soap?”
“The one and only,” the sergeant said. Pip pulled the hare head—her hood—down and shook her head, her hair a little unruly from her nap. Soap came to stand in front of the table, hands on his hips. “Feeling any better?”
Pip’s face went sour. “Not particularly,” she said flatly. She ran her fingers through her hair to smooth the errant strands. It didn’t help much. “Sorry if I woke you up last night.”
“You didn’t,” Soap said. He rested his hands on the table and bent down to be closer to her level. “Matter of fact, of all the people I’ve shared a bunk with, you’re the least disruptive.”
Wonder why. “So then why did you wake up?” she asked.
Soap reached for her—no, her pelt. He pinched one of the tiny paws between his thumb and forefinger, and gently rubbed the fur. Pip surprised herself with the realization that she barely tensed up at the action.
“Not sure,” he answered. For a moment, he looked thoughtful. But then his goofy smirk appeared. “Maybe I sensed you were upset through our handler’s bond.”
That smirk had been a warning. A precursor. Before the words even left his mouth, Pip braced herself, fully expecting him to say something ridiculous. And there it was. She stared at him, face blank, for a long moment. His smirk bloomed into a full-blown grin.
There was one good thing about humans having multiple names. Pip could pull a lesser-used name for greater emphasis on what she had to say: “MacTavish, what the fuck are you talking about?”
“Y’know, our bond!” Soap explained. He dropped the paw he held and nudged Pip’s shoulder with a gentle knuckle. “Like—like the bond between man and dog!”
Pip grimaced and pushed back against his knuckle. “I hate dogs.”
“Ach—I suppose you would. I don’t like ‘em much either.” Surprising. That there was something they had in common. “Let me try again: like the bond between a horse and its rider.”
Really, what the fuck was this man going on about? Pip gave Soap a look-over, her brows furrowed. “Are you… are you the horse in this analogy…?”
“No, but—” Soap started to protest, but he stopped short. There was something about how he pursed his lips in a little pout when he thought… Ugh, none of that, Pip. “Actually, I guess I would be. Me and the rest of your handlers. Considerin’ we carry you around everywhere.”
“Not by my choice,” Pip grumbled to herself.
Soap laid his hand down next to her, palm up. “C’mon, Lag. Your mighty steed wants some breakfast, and he’s guessin’ you do too.”
Why was he like this? “Why are you like this? Talking about yourself in third person, referring to yourself as a ‘steed.’” She wasn’t laughing, but a part of her—a part that she was mentally beating back with a stick—did find it kinda funny. Just a little bit. She wasn’t about to tell Soap that, though.
Nevertheless, Pip quickly gathered her belongings, donned her backpack under her pelt, and crawled onto Soap’s hand. They were already in the mess hall, so it wasn’t like they had far to go. She gestured vaguely. “Onward then, steed.”
Much of the morning went by in a relative blur. Pip shared breakfast with Soap, who didn’t seem to take any offense when she fell into relative silence as he rambled on. She did feel a bit bad about it, but she just didn’t have it in her to engage in much banter right now. He'd spent all of her banter points right in the beginning. Gaz came as a saving grace, giving Soap another outlet for his chatty nature so Pip could… could wallow.
That was the best description she could give herself for what she was doing. She was wallowing in grief.
Hard fucking week.
As the sergeants conversed, and more people gradually filed in and out of the mess hall, Pip found herself lost in thought with eyes unfocused.
She and Bash, at one point, had been nearly joined at the hip. They’d grown codependent of each other early on. She huffed to herself, remembering how one of their instructors had forced them to work separately. It had sucked at the time, of course, but Pip knew that it was better for them in the long run. It was better for her. Gave her room to grow into her role. How would she have been able to do her job had they been allowed to stay together? She likely never would have met Alex, nor Looker…
Fuck.
Pip sighed, scrubbing a hand through her hair. Her eyes wandered down to the cast on her leg, and the dark signatures scribbled across it.
She never would have ended up here, with the 141.
Whether that was a good or a bad thing, she hadn’t yet decided. The situation she found herself in currently was awful, of course, but these four men… they weren’t so bad.
Gods, though, she missed Bash. She missed Alex. Missed Looker. Her heart ached…
“Oi, Earth to Lag. You in there, lass?” A poke to her shoulder made the hideling flinch, suddenly back in the mess hall. She blinked, looking a little lost.
“Huh? Wha…?” Looming over her was Captain Price. When had he gotten here? She hadn’t heard his approach. He regarded her with one brow raised, inquisitive. “Captain,” she greeted, nodding her head. “Sorry, sir, did you say something?”
“I did,” he said. “Asked if you’ve finished with any of that data you nabbed.”
“Oh.” Pip pulled her backpack closer and set it in her lap. “For the most part, yes, sir. There are a few more files I want to comb through, but I think I’ve gotten just about everything useful that I can from—”
Price held up his hand, silencing her. “We’ll talk in my office. C’mon.” He set that hand down behind her, silently asking to pick her up. Or, more likely, he was letting her know that he was going to pick her up. She hesitated, the inside of her cheek drawn between her teeth, then nodded. Thick fingers slipped around her middle, scooping her, her pelt, and her pack up in one fell swoop. He cupped his other hand under her to support her, and straightened to address the sergeants. “Gentlemen,” he said with a nod, then strode on out of the mess hall with Pip in hand.
Why did he want to talk in his office? Why couldn’t they go over her findings in the mess hall, with Gaz and Soap? Wouldn’t it have been easier with them present? They were likely going to need to know this stuff later anyway—
“Relax,” Price said, once again yanking Pip from her thoughts. She looked up to see him staring straight ahead, though she suspected he was watching her through his peripherals. “Either you’re shaking more than normal, or that’s your heart I feel buzzing in your chest.” His fingers shifted, his thumb pushing under her pelt to rest against her back.
Sure enough, her heart was pounding. It slammed back against her ribs, against the pad of his thumb. She was letting herself get worked up. “I’m fine, Captain.”
“You’re a shit liar in person.”
She pulled a sour face. Price was the second person to tell her that lately. She’d heard it before from Alex and Looker, too.
Upon entering Price’s office, the captain closed the door behind him, and set Pip down on his desk. He rounded it to take his seat, and opened up his laptop. Pip dug her own laptop from her bag and set it down on her lap, pulling up the important documents she’d compiled in her analysis.
“So,” she started, “I’ll send you what I’ve found—”
“Hold off on that,” Price said, cutting her off. He leaned forward, hands folding on the desk. Pip felt a sense of alarm rising in her chest. Her heart quickened again. “Laswell called me this morning.”
More alarm. It rushed through her like a jolt of electricity. Pip swallowed thickly, but said nothing. Price continued.
“Calm down, Pip. She was just askin’ about you, how you’re holding up after… well, everything.”
Pip took a breath, trying to ease her anxiety. “What… did you tell her?”
“Told her you’re doing fine,” he said. “But I know that’s not quite true. So I want you to tell me how you’re doing.”
He wanted her to talk to him? About her problems? Her personal woes? Pip found herself immediately resistant to that idea. She scrunched her nose and breathed out sharply. “Captain, I’m f—”
“Don’t…” Price held up a finger, his eyes narrowing, “...tell me you’re ‘fine.’ Don’t lie to me, Pip.”
He was using her name. Not her callsign. Not the stupid nickname he’d given her. He was using her name. A shiver crawled down Pip’s spine. He was turning that human-multiple-names thing against her.
“This isn’t necessary, Captain,” she said, trying to keep her voice even. “You’re right—I’m not fine. But my problems are my own.”
“I lead this task force,” he said. “My people’s problems are my problems.”
Pip wanted to retort that she wasn’t his people. She opened her mouth, intent on saying just that, but she stopped herself and took a breath. Slow in, slow out. Calm down.
The fact that he did think of her as his people… well, she didn’t want to examine how that made her feel right now.
“Price, with all due respect… I would prefer it if you didn’t pry into my personal matters. This… turmoil I find myself in won’t affect my work. I promise you that.”
Price leaned back in his seat, one hand swiping thoughtfully over his mustache and chin. “I’m sure you think that,” he said. Pip felt a spark of indignation rising in her. That sounded awfully patronizing. The man continued, “And I do believe you. To an extent. I’m not worried about your work, though, Pip. Far as I’m concerned, you do damn good work. The shit you did yesterday?” He sucked his teeth and shook his head. “Impressive stuff. I told you as much.”
Hearing the compliments again made her fidget uncomfortably. This conversation was giving her a lot of mixed signals. “So… if you’re not worried about my work suffering, then why are we talking about this? I have intel that you need to see. That’s more important.”
Price stared at her for a long moment, long enough to make her squirm. That indignation was getting hotter, kindling inside her. “We’re talking about this,” he said finally, “because I’m worried about you. Not your work, but your well-being.”
What…?
Pip jerked her head back, reacting almost as if she’d been struck. “Wha—you’re— what?”
The captain rolled his eyes. “Shocking, I know, to learn that the captain cares about his people.” Pip opened her mouth again, ready to refute that statement now, but Price cut her off once more, “And don’t you give me any shit about you ‘not working for me.’ I can see you tossing that argument around in that little head of yours.”
Pip made an offended noise. Price reached for her, gently pinching her jaw between his thumb and forefinger to make her look at him.
“Like it or not, while you’re out here, with us, you’re one of mine,” he said. There was a low growl in his voice that stirred something in her core.
It was so easy to feel powerless around humans. Pip swallowed, almost sure that Price could feel the bob in her throat. She didn’t like feeling powerless. So, voice low, she said “Take your hand off of me.” It was an effort to maintain some control of herself and her surroundings.
And Price did as requested. As he was told. Pip found that a little surprising, if she was being honest with herself, but nevertheless her relief was immediate. She rubbed at her jaw, where his skin had met hers.
“Did I hurt you?” he asked, a bit softer.
“No,” she said quickly. That wasn’t a lie.
“Good. So here’s how this is gonna go, Pip.” Price retreated from her immediate space and folded his hands again. “You and I are gonna chat about what’s bothering you. Then you can tell me all about that intel, yeah?” He met her scowl with a raised brow. She had a feeling that she was not being given much choice here. So much for having control.
Even still, she felt compelled to ask: “And if I refuse?”
The skin and muscle wrinkled around his eyes, a tight, mirthless smile spreading under his mustache. “Then I’m sending you back to Laswell.”
“What —?” Her jaw dropped. She grabbed her crutch and moved to stand, but Price held up a hand. He didn’t touch her. He didn’t have to. It was warning enough to stay seated. Pip eased back down, lip curled just so. “Sir. You said so yourself: I’m helping. Why would you send me away?”
“I know this might seem unfair—”
“Do not patronize me,” she hissed. She was getting sick of repeating this. “Speak to me like an adult.”
Price flexed his jaw to the side, none-too-appreciative of her tone. “What I mean to say is: I’m not singling you out. I do this with the others, too. Gaz, Soap, everyone.”
“Ghost?”
Ah, shit. She regretted her question as soon as it left her mouth.
Price breathed out a wry chuckle. “Especially Simon. That man needs it more than anyone.”
Pip looked away, chewing the inside of her lip. Guilt was creeping onto the edge of her conscience. Price seemed to notice.
“Oh… you’ve gone digging where you shouldn’t, huh?” He didn’t sound surprised or angry so much as disappointed. Remorseful. Pip didn’t need to answer. “Do us all a favor and keep it to yourself.”
Yeah. Yeah, she would. After finishing most of her work last night, she'd gotten a little too curious for her own good, and poked through some of the "non-existent" documents she'd found under Ghost's file. She’d learned the hard way why those files had been so tightly sealed.
And now she was just going to have to carry on like she didn't know. Great. She wasn't looking forward to seeing him again any time soon.
“Enough about them,” Price continued. “Go on then. Tell me what’s bothering you.”
“John, I—” woah. Hearing his first name on her tongue seemed to surprise the both of them. Pip shook her head and tried again. “Price, I really… really don’t want to do this.”
His shoulders rose and fell in a shrug. “Then don’t. I’ll let Laswell know, and have you on a plane by day’s end.”
Bastard. She didn’t want that either! She wasn't a quitter! She wouldn't leave this hellhole mission until it was done! The hideling ducked her head and scrubbed her fingers through her hair with a frustrated groan.
Fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck—
“Rot in the fucking sun, you—” she grumbled in hidespeak, then steeled herself and switched back to English. “Fine. Laswell told me yesterday that my best friend—a hideling I grew up with and went through training with—went missing weeks ago. His handler was found dead, and he’s presumed dead as well, though his body and belongings were not recovered. I find this distressing for a number of reasons.”
Price watched her carefully, saying nothing.
She continued, “His name is—was? fuck—his name is Bash. And he’s the closest thing to family that I had.” Her voice shook. Pip cleared her throat and forced her words around the lump rising there. “So I’m not… taking it well.”
“Understandable,” Price said with a nod.
“And then—and then I’m still reeling from Looker dying. He—he was my handler, my partner, for four years , Price. And he’s just… he's just gone .” Pip stared down at her hands, watching them shake in her lap. “I didn’t even get to see him before you guys sent his body back…”
“We didn’t know that—” Price started, but it was Pip’s turn to interrupt him with a raised hand.
“Not your fault. I know. It’s just… Ugh. And then his ex-wife was making a fuss, trying to contact me, and I…”
“His ex-wife…? Bloody hell, Pip…” That disappointment was back. It stung a little. “Don’t tell me you called her…”
“It was stupid. I know. I didn’t tell her anything about me, or what we’re doing—obviously—but…” Her shoulders shook with a heavy sigh. “I don’t even know why I called her. She’s a jealous, spiteful woman, and the conversation just made me feel worse.”
“I could’ve told you that would happen,” Price said.
“Wish you had.”
“Would have, had you said something.”
Pip huffed. Yeah. Any of her handlers probably would have done the same. She should have just let Ghost talk her out of it last night.
“Didn’t know Looker well,” Price said. “When Laswell sent him over, I only had a couple quick conversations with him before he…” He trailed off, and Pip was thankful for it. “He seemed like a decent enough bloke, though. I am sorry we lost him.”
“Yeah… Yeah, he was…” She sniffled, but swallowed down any other threats of crying. Price did not get to see her cry. "Anyway,” she continued, “all of this has just… well, Bash is the third person close to me that I've lost recently. And it’s just… a lot. On top of the stress of being forcibly revealed to all of you.”
Price reached for her again, but stopped short of touching her. His hand stilled behind her, not yet making contact. “Is this okay?” he asked. After a moment of contemplation, she nodded. His fingers curled around her back, draping over her shoulders. She sighed under the weight and hung her head, eyes closed. Price’s warmth seeped into her through her pelt and jumpsuit.
“You said Bash was the third. Guessing Looker was the second. Who was first?”
Pip reached up to pull her pelt tighter around herself, but instead found the pad of Price’s index finger. It twitched under her touch, but neither of them pulled away. She sighed, and continued, “Found out about two months ago that my first handler went missing in Urzikstan.” She laughed dryly, her hand idly running over the whorls of Price’s fingerprint. “Took that one hard too, because I thought I’d lost him once before when he got blown up a few years back.”
The fingers behind her went tense. Pip glanced back at them, then up to Price’s face, brows furrowed. He gave her a similar look. “Alex ? Alex Keller?” Hearing his name, the hideling straightened, her heart in her throat. “Alex was your handler?”
“Y–yes…? Wait, you knew him?”
Price sighed and rubbed at his forehead with his free hand, his eyes going distant. “He and I worked together in Urzikstan back in 2019. I led the team with him, Gaz, and Farah. I was there when that factory went up. We all thought he’d died then too. But then the bastard turned up a month later with a shiny new leg.”
Pip couldn’t help another sniffle. She was starting to choke up again, but she was determined not to cry. Not here. “When he got assigned to take on Al-Quatala, I was forced to part ways with him,” she said. “At the time, our council didn’t allow us to go overseas much—certainly not to active war zones.”
“And here you are now…” His thumb brushed her arm, offering a small comfort.
“Yeah,” she said flatly. “Here I am now. Half blown up myself, being forced to talk about my personal problems to one of my four new handlers.”
Despite it being forced, though, Pip did feel a little bit better, having aired all of her woes out. She’d sooner die than tell Price that, but it was true regardless.
The hand curled around her, gently lifting her off of the desk and cupping beneath her to bring her closer to Price’s level. “Hey,” he said, feigning offense, “We’re not all that bad. I can see you’re getting used to us. Even coming around to liking us.”
Pip scoffed and rolled her eyes. The humor was a sudden, but not unwelcome change of pace. Maybe she did still have a few banter points left after all. “Gaz is okay. I guess.”
Price gave her a knowing, infuriatingly smug look. “So you’ve expressed a liking for Soap, Ghost, and now Gaz. No love for your captain, ey?”
Her captain? Hah!
Pip turned her eyes up in thought, counting on her fingers, “Mendoza, Jacobs, and Reed got me this hare, so I guess they’re okay too…”
That got a balk from Price. He nudged her shoulder with his thumb, much less comforting this time. “That right? You called me John a few minutes ago, and now you say you like rookies more than me?” He almost sounded offended, but the smile under his mustache and the amusement in his eyes betrayed him.
Pointedly not meeting Price’s eyes, Pip instead peered over his hands, to his desk and the floor below. “Hm. Bet I could make that jump, even with this cast…”
As was the expected reaction, the captain’s hands cupped around her more, walling her between them. “Don’t. I’ve had Nik set your next vet appointment for next week already; don’t need you limping around on two broken legs until then.”
Her expression fell to a scow immediately. “Fucking vet,” she spat. “Unbelievable. I’m still mad about that.”
Price shrugged. “Vets specialize in binding tiny limbs. It’s the best place to patch you up.”
Yeah, yeah, she understood the reasoning, but she didn’t have to like it. “And after putting me through that humiliation, you still don’t give me anything to drink for the pain.”
“Bloody hell.” Price tipped his head back in exasperation. He shifted to hold Pip in one hand so he could gesticulate with his other. “You were just in my hidden stash last night.”
Pip’s blood ran cold. “Uh…” She found herself suddenly tongue-tied, her cheeks heating in embarrassment. “I don’t, uh—”
“And I know Simon’s the one that takes you.”
Shit. How'd he find out? Not just about last night, but the time before, too! She wasn’t about to rat Ghost out, though. Pip shook her head adamantly. “No. I found it myself.”
Price chuckled. “Not gettin’ any better at this lying thing, Lag. Your whole body goes tense, and you look like a deer in headlights. Never mind that your story is bullshit. You can barely walk.” He tapped the knee of her cast for emphasis. “Let alone lift a floor panel and unscrew a bottle.”
“You have no idea what I’m capable of,” she retorted. “With or without this cast. Isn’t it a human saying, ‘if there’s a will, there’s a way’?”
His smile spread into a grin, thoroughly amused. “Part of me hates that you’re lying right to my face, but a bigger part of me loves that you’re trying to protect Simon. Wholly unnecessary, by the way. But I’m sure he’d appreciate it too.”
The hideling refused to meet his eyes, her cheeks and ears burning. “Are we done now?” She was pretty eager for another topic change. This conversation had already gone on far longer and taken more turns than she wanted.
Price lowered his hand back down to the desk and let her off next to her laptop. “Sure. Just one last thing. Look at me, Lag.” Reluctantly, she did. “I’m sorry for your losses. Truly I am. We’re holding out that Alex might still be alive, but you know how this goes.”
Pip nodded. “Yeah. I do,” she said softly. When he said nothing more, she took that as her cue to start her briefing.
Finally.
They’d wasted enough time and energy on her emotional bullshit.
As she was pulling up and sending over documents, she heard Price shuffling around in one of his desk drawers. She didn't bother looking up until she heard the unmistakable sound of a lighter sparking to life. Her head snapped up, immediately finding a cigar between the captain’s fingers. He rotated it slowly, expertly, to give it a proper light. Just before putting it between his lips, though, he caught Pip staring, and winced.
“Ah, bollocks—probably shouldn’t smoke around you. Sorry—”
Before he could snub it out, Pip waved her hands. “Don’t! No, it’s—it’s fine. Go ahead. Don’t mind me.”
He regarded her curiously, lips pressed together in a frown. “You sure? ‘Cos I can wait until we’re done—”
“Don’t,” she insisted. “I, uh… I like the smell…” Already, she could detect the sweet, almost chocolatey notes of the cigar, and he hadn’t even taken a puff yet. It made her mouth water.
Hesitantly, but without breaking eye contact, Price placed the cigar between his lips, and drew in a mouthful of smoke. Pip forced herself to look away, not wanting to ogle any more than she already had. When he expelled the smoke into the air between them, Pip felt a shiver race up her spine and across her skin. She breathed in deep as the white wisps curled around her, her lips parted slightly to take in the full flavor.
It tasted rich, sweet, and very much like John Price.
Keep it together, Pip, fuck’s sake!
She cleared her throat, tried to clear her head, and sent the last file over to Price’s computer. “Okay, so—if you’ll check what I sent you, the first packet is all the highlights of what I’ve found. The second one is the specifics I’ve compiled—stuff you’ve asked me to look for, and stuff I thought seemed relevant or helpful…”
Gods help her. She was a fucking mess.

a/n: my incentive for getting these done (when they're fuffy) is listening to 21st Century Vampire in a dark room for four days, in case you guys were wondering.
Your tongue felt like sandpaper as you chewed the inside of your cheek. "No, uh… I think I need some time…" you trailed, your eyes flashing to his. "... To think…"
He nodded slightly, taking one last look at you before slipping out your front door, the lock clicking shut behind him.
Your heart hammered in your ears. You took a seat on your couch, carding your fingers through your hair as his face flashed into your mind, the somewhat confused expression boring a hole in your heart. You’d led him on, you knew it. It wasn’t that you weren’t into him, but the cold fear of what the two of you had vanishing after assigning labels flushed through your body. What if it was only as strong as it was because you weren’t stuck to each other? Was the fact that you were choosing to sleep with him and him alone not enough? What more could he want?
Then it dawned on you; what more would it be? The two of you were already attached at the hip a ridiculous amount of time, you already knew more about him than you cared to, and obviously, the two of you were already past the awkwardness of building a sexual relationship.
So what the fuck was wrong with you? Would it be so awful to be his girlfriend?
You avoided him for a few weeks, your mind burning with guilt and indecisiveness. As soon as you had straightened your thoughts and favored one reality over another, it was like buyer’s guilt persuaded you the other way.
Lectures were quiet, even lonesome for you without him around. That would add to your Pro Karl list; he was great company, especially in public, when he knew people were watching the two of you. Would that element be different when the two of you were dating?
You hadn’t realized how apparent your moping had become until your roommate brought it up one night. You were tucked into your favorite spot on the couch, mind racing with how to solve your problems. “I called Karl. I’m sick of this weepy, self-loathing bullshit. Man up and tie him down. I know you want to,” she stated bluntly, tugging open the curtains in the room to get to the windows. The night breeze wafted in as if it’d been knocking against the glass for an hour. “He’s outside.”
You blinked at her as she pulled you out of your seat. “He’s what?”
She pulled you behind her, slipping on her jacket. “I’m going to Clay’s. Work this shit out and let me know if I need to vacate for the week,” she jested, making you roll your eyes as she pushed you out in front of her. As she headed down the stairwell, Karl was on his way up, greeting her brightly as he usually did.
He smiled at you gently as he stopped in front of you, fondness and allure playing in his eyes. Even if you looked disheveled, he still looked upon you with pride and admiration. His hair was longer, but despite that, he looked exactly the same way you’d left him. You cleared your throat, the wind bringing his scent towards you. “We need to talk,” you mumbled. “You were right.”
He pressed his back against the dividing wall, tucking a cigarette behind his ear that he had between his fingers and looking out over the railing behind you. The city lights reflected in his eyes. "I didn’t mean to freak you out or anything. I just..." He looked at you softly. "Fuck, I really like you."
You crossed your arms, hands rubbing against the sleeves of your hoodie to generate more warmth. You were so torn. Most of you, wanted to wrap yourself up in him and give in to his offer while the ugly, nagging thoughts in your brain told you to run. "What about after we cool down then?" You asked, making one of his eyebrows feign to furrow. "Are you still going to be attracted to me after I'm… domesticated?"
He smiled slightly. "I'll probably be attracted to you even when your tits sag to your waist, baby." You rolled your eyes at his joke and he crossed the space between the two of you, shoes dragging against the cement. He pushed his fingers into your hair, settling his hand against your neck so his thumb brushed against your jaw soothingly. You leaned into his touch. "I just want to be locked down by you," he chided. "... Officially."
You let out a small wheeze. "You're not gonna be into my friends next week, are you?" It was a joke, but it came out as more of an insecurity.
He fought not to grin. "You're fuckin' serious?" He used his other hand to separate your arms gently, stepping into your embrace. "When I'm with other people, all I can think about is how they're not you."
He pressed a kiss to the corner of your mouth, eliciting a pleasant sigh from between your lips. You tightened your arms around him, basking in the warmth of his body as you threaded your hands beneath his jacket. "Even your mom?"
He snorted. "Don't make this weird," he jested, making you laugh softly. He pulled your body completely against him, digging his face into the crook of your neck as you sighed tiredly, your cheek pressing against his shoulder.
The bathwater was warm against your skin, Karl’s arm wrapping around your shoulder to pull you closer to him in the small tub, making you giggle slightly. You paused what you were doing as he dug his nose into the crook of your neck. You struggled to shrug from his grasp. “If you don’t stop, I’m gonna mess up your nails,” you wheezed, before he surrendered, leaning his back against the porcelain.
It was a brighter color than he usually wore, but the hue still gave him the dark appearance he prided himself on. Goosebumps peppered your skin as he drew absent-minded shapes into your back with the pad of his finger. “I missed you,” he hummed. Despite having your back to him and concentrating on not smearing his nail polish, you could hear the content smile in his voice. “And now, I’m your boyfriend,” he mocked, eliciting a snort from you.
You screwed the cap on the polish when you were satisfied with your work. “I feel like a middle school girl every time you say that,” you grumbled, jokingly.
He snickered. “Me too.” You could feel him watching you carefully as you blew on the nail polish, his fingers to your lips to test their dryness. He curled around you again, pressing his lips to your neck, his other arm curling around your torso. His breath was sweet against your skin, mixing with the steam from the water. “Stop it, or I’ll get too excited,” he groaned, making you smile.
You moved his hand to rest in the crook of your neck, fingers threatening to demonstrate his true strength. He swapped hands, his fingers dipping beneath the water towards your heat. His other hand wrapped around your neck, waiting for your first moans until applying pressure. Your head tilted back against his shoulder as he rubbed circles against your bundle of nerves, a sigh of pleasure spilling past your lips as his teeth nipped gently at your shoulders.
Your knees peeked out above the surface of the water as you leaned further back against him. He pressed his lips to the skin behind your ear. “Look at my girlfriend, so needy so quickly,” he moaned in your ear, slipping one of his fingers into you. His name fell from your lips as if your life depended on you repeating it. He pumped another finger into you, basking in the way you reacted to him. You hated how well he knew your body.
Before you knew it, your back was pressing into your sheets, Karl hovering over you. You dug your fingers into his hair, tugging lightly on his locks as he pushed himself into you with a moan. His hips rolled against yours, his forearms resting on either side of your head, pressing his lips to your shoulder. It wasn’t long until he was thrusting in and out of you, teeth printing his mark on your skin. “All mine,” he moaned as your fingernails pressed into his skin.
You smirked slightly, rutting your hips against his. “Oh, right there, Todd,” you moaned almost pornographically. Karl stiffened slightly, struggling not to laugh as you giggled.
His teeth dug into your neck, shutting you up with a moan. He pushed your hands above your head, intertwining his fingers with yours while his other hand moved to wrap around your throat. “He fucking wishes,” he hissed through gritted teeth, making your toes curl. His pace slowed, focused on driving himself deeper into you, reaching your sweet spot with each of his thrusts.
You moaned his name, pressing your lips to his shoulder as he dug his nose into the crook of your neck. He muttered pet names into your ear, coaxing you over the edge with his declarations of ownership over you.
The next morning, you wrapped your arms around Karl’s waist, pressing your cheek against the middle of his shoulder blades as he stirred whatever he was making. Your hands looped into the front pocket of his hoodie. The kitchen was humming with life as the radio hummed softly in one of the corners and the two of you lightly conversed.
You moved to lean against the counter beside him, attempting not to completely gush at the sight of his messy hair and lazy smile as he made you breakfast. “So, do I get to wear your letterman’s jacket now?” You joshed, making him smirk.
He flipped a pancake. “I mean, you can if you’d like, I think it’s at my mom’s,” he answered, soft tones of sleep still hanging in his voice. “You can twin with your pal, Todd. We went to the same high school.”
Your head tilted at the news, mouth slightly ajar. “No way. Please tell me you’re joking.”
He shrugged. “We lived down the road from each other growing up,” he recounted, making you chuckle at the irony.
You wet your lips slightly. “Now that we’re official, do you wanna have a threesome with him?” You asked sarcastically.
“If Todd’s dick comes anywhere near me, I’m moving to Iceland,” he finalized, making you laugh.

Keep Fighting
Inspiration From This Lovely Prompt By murdermuffinkink:
Loki and Tony are in abusive relationships with each of their partners. Loki had long since given up on getting out of his own but when he sees Tony still struggling and fighting against Steve, he decides that if he can't get out of his own abusive relationship with Thor, he can at least help Tony get out of his.
⚠️Warnings: Abusive Relationship(s), Implied/Referenced Abuse, Implied/Referenced Rape/Non-Con, Omega Verse, Self Harm, Suicide Attempt, Etc.⚠️
Enjoy 💚❤
Loki had given up nearly two hundred years ago in getting away from Thor. He tried many times but Thor had a tight hold on his leash, never letting Loki get far.
So, after what felt like a thousand years of fighting his relationship with Thor, he finally gave up and gave in, simply letting it happen. At least it was less painful when he was pliant and obedient.
When he had fallen from the Bifrost, he had thought for a minute, maybe he could finally be free. Free of Thor and all the hurt he'd caused. But it was never so easy for him.
Thor managed to get his hands back on Loki after he lost during the attack on New York. Thor was determined to never let Loki slip away again, using Loki's 'evil villain' status as an excuse to restrict Loki's magic to the point that it was barely there anymore.
Loki didn't tell anyone of how he was tortured for months and forced to attack Midgard. Who would believe him?
For a minute, Loki had been glad he lost. It was always the plan to lose, to be captured by the Avengers and taken back to Asgard and thrown in a cell. At least then, Thor wouldn't be able to touch him again.
But Thor never ended up taking him back to Asgard. He had instead asked Steve Rogers, the leader of the Avengers group if Loki could stay on Midgard.
Thor had played all teary eyed, telling the Avengers how he knew Loki was good inside, how he just needed some time to remember who he was. Not that Loki could forget. He remembered who he was before Thor had taken his whole world and freedom away from him. There had never been a choice for him.
Steve had agreed to let Loki stay, apparently moved by Thor caring so much for the wayward villain, so long as it was at the Tower where the Avengers could keep an eye on him.
They figured out soon enough why that was, how Thor cared for Loki as a lover. It sickened Loki that the Avengers didn't have a problem with it, that it was completely fine.
Sometimes, Loki had dark thoughts. Sometimes he wondered what would happen if he simply ended it all. Would anyone notice? Would anyone care? He was sure Thor would but that wasn't because he cared. He would only be upset that he lost his favourite toy.
The only reason Loki hadn't tried was because one, it was ridiculously hard to kill himself, not because he wasn't able to go through with it but because he was a god. God's were terribly hard to kill. Loki would know. He'd tried to kill Thor hundreds of times before. Never mind how many times he'd tried to kill himself.
And two was because of a certain mortal genius.
Loki wasn't sure at first what it was about Tony Stark that drew him. Sure, Tony was rather handsome and very intelligent for a mortal but there was something else about him that Loki...related to. The nearly defeated look in his eyes that were always cast towards the floor.
It wasn't until Loki saw Tony with Steve that he understood what it was that drew him.
It was early in the morning, Loki always getting up before Thor, (because if he didn't, he would end up under Thor for the rest of the morning) sitting at the kitchen table. Loki didn't speak to the other Avengers much, opting to pretend he was too tired to talk so he didn't have to converse with anyone. Nor, he thought, did any of them want to.
Steve was making everyone breakfast like he did every morning, Natasha and Clint talking to one another. Bruce wasn't yet awake and Tony was a wild card. He could still be asleep or he could have been holed up in his lab, getting no sleep the entire night.
Apparently the latter as Tony arrived a little while later as Steve was serving up breakfast, Tony looking bleary eyed as he made a beeline for the coffee machine.
Steve turned his head, watching with a frown as Tony poured himself a mug. "You didn't come to bed last night."
"I got busy," Tony said with a slight shrug, giving Steve a gentle smile. "Did you miss me, Captain?"
Steve frowned disapprovingly. "I'm being serious, Tony. I told you not to be in the lab all the time."
Tony sighed as he filled a mug. "I've been getting plenty of sleep, alright? Relax, Stevie, I'm fine."
"Tony," Steve said, his tone taking on a slightly warning edge, stepping closer to the genius.
Loki was the only one who saw Tony flinch, eyes flicking down to the floor. "I'll try not to go in the lab so much, okay?"
"Good," Steve said with a nod, a smile suddenly on his face at Tony's agreement. "Want some breakfast?"
Loki glanced at Tony who wasn't smiling, eyes down at his drink as he nodded his head. Tony looked up at the others, almost like he was checking to see if anyone had noticed and frowned when he saw Loki watching him.
But Loki didn't look away and neither did Tony. Not until strong arms suddenly wrapped around Loki from behind and a voice spoke in his ear. "There you are, Loki."
Loki didn't greet Thor back, instead tearing his gaze from Tony's as he looked pointedly back at his plate of untouched food.
After that, Loki continued to watch how Tony acted around Steve. He was always defiant at first, always arguing with whatever Steve told him but as soon as Steve made one threatening movement, so subtle that nobody but Loki noticed, Tony would immediately shut up and agree with whatever Steve had said.
There was a difference between him and Tony though. Tony was clearly still fighting back whereas Loki had already given up.
It was...refreshing though it hurt, reminding Loki of a time he used to fight back too. He didn't want to see Tony suffer how he did but he didn't know how he was meant to help without alerting Thor or even Steve to what he was doing.
But Loki would try to help Tony fight.
Because if he couldn't save himself, he could at least try and save Tony.
...
Tony wished he could get away from Steve sometimes. That he could simply leave.
But he couldn't. Nobody would listen to an Omega complain about how their Alpha abused them. Abused Omega's were always ignored, told that they were overreacting, that they were too soft and couldn't handle a little pressure.
Of course, he could always just kick Steve out of the Tower, make him leave. But that could cause more problems than Tony wanted to deal with. Fury would have his hide if he pulled something like that. As much as Tony didn't want to admit it, the world needed Captain America.
So Tony gritted his teeth and pushed through it. Besides, it wasn't so bad. Steve could get angry and a little too rough sometimes but it wasn't anything that Tony couldn't deal with.
And it had been fine until he realized he wasn't the only one who was being forced into a relationship he didn't want.
Jarvis had brought it to his attention, how Loki didn't eat much, barely got enough sleep and was constantly injured in some way.
Tony, despite being a genius, had been a little slow on trying to figure out how and why Loki was getting so hurt when all he did was lounge around the Tower.
But then he thought of Thor, how the god was always hovering over Loki. At least, Tony had assumed it was because he didn't want Loki getting up to no good. But it had been months since the attack and Loki hadn't tried to do a single evil thing in all that time.
It made Tony wonder if Loki was really that evil to begin with. For a guy apparently hellbent on ruling Earth, he had given up pretty damn easy, barely putting up a fight when Thor cuffed him. Almost like he had wanted to lose.
But that hadn't been the point. The point had been Loki getting hurt and as much as Loki was a villain, Tony didn't like people getting hurt under his roof.
It didn't take much snooping for Tony to figure out how Loki was getting himself hurt. Or more, who was getting Loki hurt.
Tony hated it but he knew there was nothing he could really do. He had gone up against Thor before with his suit and if Steve hadn't stepped in, he wasn't sure what would have happened.
Besides, it wasn't like Tony was in a better position. Steve would be furious if he found out Tony was taking a villains side or say he was being influenced somehow.
Still, Tony wished he could punch Thor and make it hurt.
But what was one little Omega going to do against a literal god? How could he help Loki when he could barely help himself?
...
"What were you thinking, Tony?!"
"I just—"
"That's right! You weren't thinking, were you?"
Loki watched along with the other Avengers as Tony was shouted at by Steve, doing nothing to stop it. Apparently the mission had gone sideways and Tony had nearly gotten himself extremely hurt, throwing himself into the line of fire to protect one of the others.
Loki wasn't sure why Steve was so upset. They were superheroes, weren't they? It was their job to protect and if they got hurt, that was a part of the risk.
Of course, Loki hadn't been there to see it for himself. He wasn't trusted to go on missions with the Avengers (nor did he want to) so he had to stay at the Tower with Thor watching him. Only, Thor did a lot more than simply watch him. His hips were already bruising from the blond's harsh grip.
Tony was staring at the floor now, not even trying to defend himself as Steve lectured on and on. Nobody said anything until Steve finally finished, taking a breather.
"Come on, Tony," Steve said finally, grabbing Tony's wrists in a too tight grip and dragged him to the elevator before anyone, even Tony, could get a word out.
Loki watched them go, fingers twitching in his lap, itching to race after the pair and yank Tony away from Steve but he couldn't. Without his magic, he was useless to help. All it would do was make Steve angrier and Thor would be even less impressed.
Loki saw Tony later in the day. Loki was on the couch, reading a book. Thor was thankfully down in the gym training and had ordered Loki to stay in their room.
Of course, Loki hadn't listened. Just because he had given up on getting away from Thor, it didn't mean he listened to everything the Thunder god demanded of him.
So when Tony walked into the kitchen for coffee, Loki watched the slight limp the mortal sported with narrowed green eyes.
As if knowing he was being watched, Tony turned his head, looking surprised to see Loki sitting on the couch. "Oh, hi Lokes. I didn't think anyone would be out here."
Loki raised an eyebrow, glancing at Tony's wrists and noted the bruises ringing around each one, just barely hidden beneath his long sleeved shirt. "You sound disappointed."
"No, I'm not, I just..." Tony sighed. "Never mind."
Loki frowned slightly, sitting up a little straighter. "Steve has been...treating you right lately?"
Tony stared at him, eyes going a little wide. "Excuse you."
Loki looked pointedly at Tony's wrists making the genius glance down at them and pale, quickly tugging the sleeves down.
Loki sighed, shaking his head. "Why do you put up with it? You could leave him."
Tony looked up at him, still looking rather pale though almost angry but it didn't seem to be directed at Loki. "Like you with Thor?"
Loki gave Tony a surprised look. He didn't think anyone had realized what Thor did to him.
"Jarvis," Tony said simply in explanation.
Loki pressed his lips into a thin line. "That's different."
"How exactly?" Tony asked, setting his mug on the kitchen bench as he walked over to Loki.
Loki glared at him for a moment but he wasn't angry. Just...upset. He thought Tony would understand.
But then, Tony hadn't given up like he had.
"You wouldn't understand," Loki whispered. "Nor do I want you to."
Tony's expression became a little sad, almost as if he did understand. Loki couldn't look at him as Tony sat beside him, gently leaning into the god who after a long minute, did the same.
Maybe Loki couldn't help Tony as much as he hoped but he could still do small things like this to show Tony he wasn't alone.
Or maybe Loki simply liked feeling that he wasn't alone himself.
...
Tony felt like he was minutes away from breaking down, constantly on the verge of tears as he did what he needed to throughout the day.
Steve had done something unforgivable last night. Tony could barely look at him the whole day though Steve had kept his distance. He didn't know why he was so surprised since Steve seemed to have no problem hitting him and yelling at him but this...
Tony had said no, had told him to stop and Steve...Steve just...
Steve raped him.
Oh god's, he was going to be sick—
"Anthony?"
Tony forced his slightly watery eyes up to meet those green ones he knew belonged to Loki. "O-oh. Hey, Lokes."
Loki frowned deeply, taking in Tony's tearful brown eyes. "What happened?"
Tony swallowed repeatedly, trying and failing to form words. How could he even begin to explain?
But Loki...Loki would understand. Loki knew what it was like...to be...to be...
A sob burst past Tony's lips before he could stop it and in one second and the next, he was gathered up in Loki's arms, held tight against the god's chest as Tony trembled, tears falling down his cheeks.
Loki didn't ask, didn't force Tony to talk. He didn't need to. Tony was sure Loki already figured it out on his own.
Loki didn't let him go though.
...
After that, Loki and Tony looked out for each other.
Whenever Loki came from the room he shared with Thor, bruises all over his aching body, Tony was there, offering to watch a movie together or hang out with him in the safety of his lab. It was either a distraction from the pain or a way to get away from Thor without him realizing it.
And when Tony came back after an argument with Steve or walked into the kitchen looking so pale that Loki barely had to guess what had happened, Loki would be there to pull the genius into his arms and hold him tight, letting him break down in his arms.
They both hid the abuse they endured from the others, either afraid of being judged as weak and pathetic or worried the others would think they deserved it and contribute to the abuse.
But they didn't mind so much because they had one another to keep each other from falling into their dark thoughts.
It took a while for both of them to realize that despite their situation, despite being in a relationship (even if it wasn't one they wanted) and despite both being Omega's, they wanted each other.
Tony realized first, Loki still being in denial, not because he didn't want Tony, much the opposite, but because he knew it would lead nowhere. If Thor found out he had feelings for someone else, Tony would be in danger of Thor. Loki couldn't do that to him.
It still didn't stop Loki from one day kissing Tony in the privacy of his lab, wishing things were different.
...
Loki knew he was going to get into trouble. If Thor caught him...
But it didn't matter. He didn't care anymore. He'd stopped caring about his own pain a long time ago.
Especially since the dagger was slowly bloodying his wrists. No, he wasn't trying to kill himself. There was no point. This wouldn't be enough to kill himself. Blood loss was nothing for a god.
But it was enough to cut through the magic restraints on his wrists.
Why would Loki risk Thor's wrath if he caught Loki doing this?
Because he had passed by Tony's room earlier in the day, had heard him scream and something in Loki ripped apart at the sound, making him throw all caution to the wind.
So he had gone through Thor's things, finding the enchanted daggers that Thor had taken from Loki and used them to cut the restraints off, ignoring whenever it cut into his skin. The pain was nothing to knowing that Tony was in danger from his Alpha.
As soon as he was free of the bands, he teleported from his room to Tony's, not caring for what he might find, only caring about protecting Tony, keeping Tony safe.
But surprisingly, he didn't find Steve there, towering over Tony. Though Tony was clearly not okay.
"Anthony," Loki whispered, kneeling down in front of the figure shaking at the foot of the bed on the floor. "Anthony, Darling, look at me."
Tony wouldn't meet his eyes though, legs against his chest. Loki took comfort in the fact that Tony was clothed though it didn't mean much. If it had happened again, Tony simply could have redressed himself before Loki arrived.
But that wasn't the case. Loki knew because he soon saw the cuts on Tony's wrists and felt his stomach lurch uncomfortably. Tony had tried to kill himself.
"Oh, Anthony, no..." Loki whispered, grimacing at the blood on Tony's hands.
"He s-saw it," Tony stuttered out, shivering slightly. "He saw it and h-he got angry and grabbed m-my wrists and i-it opened back u-up and he h-hit me and...and..."
"Sh, sh. Hush, Anthony," Loki murmured, taking Tony's hands, ignoring the blood over them.
Tony sobbed, shaking his head, trying in vain to tug his hands back. "I can't do it anymore. I c-can't, please, Loki. I don't want him to t-touch me anymore."
Loki's heart broke, remember thinking the same thing two hundred years ago. "You don't have to do this anymore, I swear it."
Tears streaked Tony's face as he continued shaking his head, shivering and muttering under his breath. "There's n-nowhere we c-can g-go and I can't l-leave you h-here with h-him."
Loki had been wondering why Tony hadn't simply got up and left yet despite all of Steve's abuse. Now that he knew why, he both wanted to hug Tony and call him an idiot.
"You won't be leaving me here with him," Loki said, gently brushing his fingers over the cut and was relieved to see his magic working to heal the self inflicted wound. "In fact, you're coming with me, off of this realm entirely."
Tony stared with wide eyes at the newly healed skin, then up at Loki. "You have you're m-magic back? How? W-when?
"About five minutes ago," Loki stated plainly. "Do you want to leave with me, Anthony?"
Tony took a shaky breath, nodding his head. "P-please."
That was all Loki needed to tighten his grip on Tony's hand, pulling him into his waiting arms, pressing his lips to Tony's like he'd been yearning to do since the first time in the lab.
He remembered the words Tony had told him that day after their kiss, echoing in his head now.
'Keep fighting, Loki. Keep fighting because you're all that's stopping me from giving up. Keep fighting for me.'
And Loki had. He had but now...now they didn't have to fight anymore.
In one moment and the next, the pair vanished from the floor of Tony's room and reappeared somewhere far away where neither of them could ever be hurt by any Alpha ever again.
...
@murdermuffinloki I was going to add Bucky into this but then I'd end up writing a whole damn book and I have enough to write as it is but I just couldn't resist writing a oneshot for this, hsusyjwdj. Hope you enjoyed! :D

Congrats on 800 followers Clara! Could I request a vanilla milkshake for the MCU please if it's OK? I'm female, bisexual so any gender is fine, Libra, Hufflepuff. I'm a little shy at first but open up once I get to know you and I'm always up for a laugh and loyal to my friends and family. I'm a writer and I love reading, baking, taking walks in the forest and browsing bookstores and coffee shops. I love fantasy, horror and comedy movies and I love pop, folk and country music. I'm learning how to do tarot readings. I hope this is enough, thank you so much!
here’s your vanilla milkshake, and I’m sorry for my sporadic posting schedule - school, stress, failing classes, you know the drill. nevertheless, I hope you enjoy your little story with christine palmer!
Tumblr media
Christine is among the most selfless and dedicated people you’ve ever met - that much is clear from your first meeting.
She sometimes stops by the same coffee shop you’ve been regularly going to for months now, and despite how exhausted and disheveled she looked the first time you laid eyes on her, you couldn’t help being blown away by her radiant smile and the warmth that emanated from her without her even knowing it.
You watched as she ordered the strongest coffee they could possibly make her without breaking any federal laws and your eyes crossed a few times as she was waiting by the counter - making you blush and drop your gaze to your laptop, discarded on a side of the table in favor of your drawings and writings.
You often found yourself absent-mindedly drawing strangers and passerbys that came and left your familiar coffee shop to procrastinate work; and after that encounter, you realized that for a good week everything you drew and wrote seemed to take inspiration from the same muse, as though there wasn’t any room for anything else in your mind.
You would’ve loved to start up a conversation with her, but you were way too shy for that, and so was she - so it would remain an unspoken fantasy that you both harbored without telling the other.
(But you still shared a few knowing glances, each a little longer than the last, and timid smiles each time she stopped by.)
Eventually, in a fit of courage, you decided to walk up to her and order something for the heck of it, just to... stand next to her, supposedly thinking that waiting alongside her in a “““casual and laid-back””” manner would make things less awkward between you two and prompt a beginning of conversation.
Which it... did, weirdly enough. But it was more so thanks to her, who finally seized her courage and advised you against ordering that chocolate croissant.
“Yeah, I wouldn’t have that if I were you, especially with how early in the morning it is.”
“Really? I thought French people had this for breakfast.”
“Do you truly want to follow an example set by French people?”
You both laugh together, a sweet little sound that contrasts with how absolutely exhausted she looks.
Over the course of your conversation, you understand the reason why she always stops by on a whim, never to stay longer than five minutes, and is always out of breath and with her hair tousled in all directions; she works as a nurse in the nearby hospital, and coffee is her reward for making it through her night shift.
“But don’t you want to sleep when you get home after working all night?”
“Trust me, with how tired I am, even if I drank the entire kettle I’d still pass out as soon as I hit my bed.”
So over the days you learn her habits, the coffee she takes and the pastry she sometimes allows herself as a dalliance. You even save her a seat for when she can stay for more than a few minutes.
It becomes a ritual for the two of you, almost everyday; but you don’t really conceive these meetings as dates, rather... comforting meetings.
Your first real date, officially recognized as such by both parties, is at a bookstore that you’ve been dying to check out.
Christine doesn’t have much time to read with how overworked she is, but she accepts your invitation nonetheless - time spent with you anywhere is time well-spent.
You meander through the alleys, checking out the books and discussing them with Christine... enthusiastically talking about your favorites and not realizing how expressive you get.
“I’m so sorry, I’m totally boring you to death right now...”
“No, no, don’t apologize! I love listening to you talk about what you love.”
She offers you the sweetest smile ever, so well-meaning and encouraging, the smile of someone who genuinely cares about you and is starting to fall for you.
You even dare to take her hand in yours, and shyly squeeze her fingers... but the position is so comfortable that you don’t have any excuse to let go of her hand. So the rest of the date is spent holding hands, as you should have from the beginning.
It’s not long after that you officially get together, and it’s the sweetest and most loving relationship you’ve ever been in, but also one full of mischief and little adventures - because even with her work and strong sense of ethics, Christine is always up for some good fun.
It’s a bit difficult dating someone who can’t spend their nights with you, but you understand that she’s dedicating her time to saving other’s lives, and don’t hold it against her at all; in fact, you’re quite admirative of her drive and selflessness.
You sometimes drop by the hospital unannounced to surprise her while she’s at work, alone and busy on the night shift. You aren’t big on PDA, but you’ll always steal some discreet kisses when no one is looking.
... Or you thought that no one was looking, but of course, Dr. Strange has the ability to somehow always find himself in the most inconvenient places at the most inconvenient moments, but he pretends he hasn’t seen anything when he calls out to Christine to get back to work.
Still, she gives you a conniving wink as she disappears in the white hallways.
You now know that she has found a motivation much more powerful than coffee for pushing through her night shift; the simplicity of getting back home and falling asleep in your arms.

I honestly don't know what to say. I am a little bit. Everywhere tonight. My sister died. Like I can't even wrap my head around it. I will be sobbing one second and making jokes the next. I want to talk about today. It was a good day. But it feels weird.
I am going to try. I have to. To Feel Normal.
I slept alright last night. I woke up very cold at midnight but I slept okay after I put another layer on.
I didn't feel great when I woke up. It was like when I worked on Connie. Dry air and dust and cold.. But I got up and got dressed. And headed to breakfast.
I was the first one there. And had a bagel and juice. Talked to people when they came in. And then headed to go set up theme.
I figured out how to make a bowling set. I drew numbers on toilet tubes. And went I find balls. And then drew a score card. I went and made so many copies.
It was a pretty good day. I loved my groups. And I was very busy but it was nice.
I worked on my painting more. And I went and played with the sheeps. I got the larger sheep to head butt with me and it was super cute.
We had grilled cheese for lunch. And I had 3.
The afternoon I tried to rest. Did not work. Painted and worked on theme for next week.
My afternoon group was young and so sweet and made great puppets.
And once they were cleaned up and off I went to sit at the office. But then we had a fire drill and all had to go to the field. But it was all good.
I worked on my computer. And helped with other specialty program stuff.
And then it was flag. With lots of laughs. And then dinner. Which was great. And then my mom called.
I wasn't crying at first. I got off the phone and went into the dining hall and went to Ellen. Asked if she was in a place to hear something bad. And we went outside.
And I lost it. I was hysterical. She is such a calming presence. But man. I was falling apart.
I calmed down and went to call James. Made a terrible joke to my coworkers. And then James was on their way.
I called Jess and let her know. And its her birthday! Ugh.
Then I called my brother. And we cried. And it was hard. But it was a good distraction.
I would go for a walk. Hug the sheep. And went to sit on the porch to wait for James.
Once they were here we laid in the hammock and I would go through periods of crying and laughing. When I realized James never met her I lost it again.
And then dad called me and he sounded so good and strong. And I broke down again. I'm crying again writing this.
James left before the sun went down. And I came and sat at the fire with everyone else.
I've been here for hours. But I'm going to bed now.
I hope tomorrow is not so mean. Hug your people. Goodnight.

Could I get “Why? Because I don’t want you to get hurt, that’s why!” and “I won’t lose you too.” for Luba x Reader (because I'm in an angsty mood)? Pretty please?
A continuation of Scrapes, picking up the morning after. A/N: It was really a Luba night for me. Thank you so much for these prompts, because they led to a conversation I didn’t know these two needed so badly to have. I hope you enjoy! Word Count: 1423 Rating: T - Angst, references to major character death, references to violence, non-sexual nudity, spoilers for the movie
Luba groaned, stirred from slumber by the buzzing of someone calling. He looked down at you, snuggled into his arms, face buried in his chest, and tried to ignore the grating sound of the phone. But whoever it was, evidently couldn’t take a hint. Every time he thought it was over, it started vibrating again.
“What?” he hissed, finally answering the damn thing so they would go away.
“Oh! Luba, I wasn’t expecting you to answer Y/N’s phone,” Alexi said, sounding nervous.
“They’re still sleeping, thank god. The studio had better be burning down, for you to call so early.”
“It’s almost 10, Y/N usually comes in by quarter after. That’s why I’m calling.”
“I am too tired for this. What’s going on?”
“I assume you know about their stunt last night…”
“Yes,” he was getting very annoyed.
“Well when I got here to unlock this morning, the guy was hanging around. Skulking might be a better word actually. Across the street like I wouldn’t notice him.”
“What guy?”
“The guy. The one they got in the fight with.”
Luba inhaled sharply. There was only one reason that guy would be hanging around your studio still, or again. He had decided your business was unfinished.
The world was spinning and he struggled to draw air into his lungs.
“I’m kinda freaked out, and I called some people I know to...take care of it, but it’s probably not a good idea for Y/N to come in today. I’ll call any clients on the calendar, just…”
“I’ll keep them safe,” he promised.
“They really lucked out finding you, Luba,” Alexi said by way of goodbye.
The line clicked, and it was silent again, except for the sound of your soft snores. He traced the upturned line of your face, fingers skipping whisper-like over the sterile strips at your brow and temple.
“I won’t lose you too,” he whispered, firmer than he felt, as he wrapped his arm around you and drew you as close as he could. He didn’t bother to try and sleep again, knowing if he did, he’d just be plagued by nightmares and disturb you, and too afraid at the moment to let you out of his sight.
~
Upon waking, you immediately sensed that something was wrong. Bleary-eyed you groped around in the bed for Luba, only to find it empty. You shot up in a panic, not bothering to so much as wrap a blanket around your bare shoulders as you stumbled to your feet. Luba never got up before you.
You found him in the kitchen, calmly making tea, an array of pastries from the bakery around the corner on a plate next to him. Without thinking, you threw your arms around his neck, nearly spilling scalding water on yourself.
“Well good morning to you too,” he chuckled, pulling away to look up and down your naked form.
“Don’t scare me like that,” you said, planting your hands on your hips.
“I’m sorry, love,” he pouted prettily up at you. “I woke up early, so I thought I’d make breakfast in bed. I didn’t think you’d worry, not having me there beside you.”
You could tell by the lilt in his voice that he wasn’t exactly taking the issue seriously.
“I just...I thought...well I don’t know what I thought, but…” you sighed in frustration, unable to put into words the feelings that had hit you in that moment.
Realizing how genuine your worries were, he sobered, rubbing his hands up and down your arms soothingly.
“I’m sorry, love. I didn’t mean to spook you. Go back to bed, and I’ll be in in a moment, after I make new tea.”
As nice as a lazy morning of breakfast in bed, which would probably lead to other things in bed, with Luba sounded, you shook your head.
“I can’t,” you said regretfully. “I have to get to the studio soon.”
“No you don’t,” he reassured you, beaming. “I already cleared it with Alexi for you to play hookie.”
“You what?” you didn’t want to believe what you were hearing, that he had gone behind your back like that.
“I just thought...with your face kinda messed up, and it looks terrible this morning darling, not to mention your other bruises...and it’s been so long since we had a day together, so I asked Alexi if you really needed to go in. They said no. So, we have the day for breakfast in bed, and cuddling, and maybe a good, long session? I’ll have to be gentle with you, but I think I’m up for the challenge.”
“You had no right to do that!”
“What is the big deal?”
“The studio isn’t just a job like the club is for you. It’s my career. If my clients think I’m a flake, they’ll find someone else. And if I lose that…” there’d be nothing left for you, you knew that but you didn’t want to say it. Your heart, your soul, your life savings. Everything had gone into setting this up.
“It’s one day, Y/N. Don’t get so wound up.”
“I don’t care if it’s an hour, Luba! I am the only one who gets to make the choice of me skipping my obligations. Not you. And I know you know that so I don’t understand why you would do this.”
He opened his mouth to speak and you held up a hand to stop him.
“The real reason this time. I know you well enough to know when you’re lying to me.”
“I’m sorry, alright?” he snapped, turning away from you and hunching defensively.
“No, not alright. I don’t want an apology, I want to know why.”
“Why? Because I don’t want you to get hurt, that’s why!” his eyes blazed with rage and tears as he yelled at you.
“What?” you frowned. He had never spoken to you like this before. You weren’t sure if he had spoken that way to anyone actually. You felt like your heart was threatening to tear itself in pieces at the look on his face.
“You slept in, which you never do unless you’re sick, so I know your injuries are worse than you’re pretending. And then Alexi called and said the guy that fucked you up was hanging around the studio when they got there. And it scared me shitless, so I decided I had to keep you here, away from him.”
“Are...are you sure?” your voice had involuntarily dropped to a whisper. The information he gave scared you, even if you didn’t want to admit it.
“That’s what they said. And before you start losing it about them being alone, they said they’d call someone. And even if they don’t, I don’t care,” he shook his head. “No. If you ask me to pick between them and you, my pick is always going to be you. I didn’t make sure Naadirah came home, or stayed with me where I knew where she was. And now she’s buried by a lake and I’ll never get to tell her I’m sorry, and I can’t do that again.”
“Luba…” you reached for him on instinct, as his perfect mascara ran in rivulets down his face.
“It’s no wonder she chose the Dummy over a useless shit like me. I couldn’t protect her. I couldn’t do anything. I didn’t do anything.”
“Luba, that’s not true. You did so much for Naadi, and she knew, and she would never want you to blame yourself.”
He laughed bitterly, sniffling. “I think she would. But that’s not the point. It’s too late for me to fix that. But it’s not too late for you. I don’t think I’m the kind of bastard that gets lucky and gets three loves of their life, and I don’t want a third anyway. I just want to not fail both of the ones I did get.”
“Oh Luba…” you wrapped him tightly in a hug, tears now running down your cheeks as well. “I had no idea…”
“Please don’t leave me, Y/N,” he mumbled into your neck as he clung to you.
“Never,” you promised, just as anchored to him.
The kettle whistled, and Luba stretched to switch it off without fully letting you go.
“We can have tea, and breakfast, later,” you murmured, smiling softly and already lacing your fingers through his. “Let’s just go back to bed for a bit. It’s much easier to hold you when you’re not twice my height.”

Tumblr media
You woke up to soft light drifting through your window. Your eyes slowly fluttered open to be greeted with the pleasant sight of golden rays casting though your room. Dust that had been revealed by the shine swirled majestically through the air as if dancing to the floor where they would die until being reincarnated by movement once again.
You hummed smoothly sitting up and bringing your hand to your eye rubbing away the nights sleep as you released a wide yawn.
You slipped out of bed, your warm feet cooling on the wooden floor as chills broke your smooth skin into bumps. You walked to the bathroom, glancing at the mirror and grimacing.
You quickly washed your face and brushed your hair and teeth before deciding what to wear for the day. You exited the room only to notice something you hadn't before. Everyone in your dorm was gone. You thought that at least a few people would sleep in on a Saturday.
And then it struck you. It wasn't a Saturday at all. It was Friday. Which meant that you were already 15 minutes late for your class.
Your eyes went wide panic filling you as you swore loudly crashing to your dresser and changing into your robes. You then gathered your things in a frenzy, mentally and verbally cursing your roommates for not waking you. You were going to unleash hell when you saw them next.
You stumbled down the stairs and out your common room door. You would simply have to skip breakfast today. You sprinted to the dungeons ignoring the protests you drew from those you passed.
You finally reached the classroom banging open the door loudly and scrambling inside.
"I am so sorry professor. I overslept and I-"
You stopped when you noticed every pair of eyes in the room on you. You gulped nervously, feeling heat rush up your neck.
"It's quite alright my dear." Slughorn spoke kindly.
Your surprised eyes immediately flicked back to him, "Really?" You asked in disbelief.
"It is your first time ever being late, I can let you off with a warning." He smiled, relief washing through you.
"Thank you so much." You sighed gratefully.
"Now take a seat so I may continue with the lesson." He said gesturing to the students who were still watching the interaction.
You blushed mumbling another thank you before heading towards your usual seat next to Remus.  Yet when you reached it, it was already occupied. A fiery redhead sar in your place refusing to meet your eyes.
A frown quickly took your face. You glance at Remus who sent you a sympathetic shrug and then looked back to the front of the room.
You glanced around the room searching for an empty seat. When you found it you suddenly realized why your usual seat had been stolen.
James Potter sat alone at his desk looking quite annoyed as he glared into the back of Evans head. You sighed heading to the seat and plopping into it, dropping your bag recklessly onto the floor beside you.
James turned to you smiling in amusement, "May I ask why a Prefect was late?" He mocked gesturing to the badge clipped on to your robes, its bright P shining in the dim candlelight.
"This actually stands for 'Pull your head out of your ass Potter.'" You shot back, not wanting to put up with his bullshit.
"So rude y/l/n." He gasped placing his hand on his chest in offense.
You rolled your eyes sighing, "Being around you really makes me pity Evans."
His eyes flashed for a moment before his face was taken over by an impressed frown "Touche." He shrugged.
You turned your attention to the front of the class attempting to tune into what Slughorn was saying. These struggles failed quickly when you suddenly felt an ache of pain in your vacant stomach.
Hunger consumed you quickly making the lesson go in and out of your mind.
You heard your stomach groan and found yourself wishing for your seat next to Remus once again. He always had chocolate or something with him and often shared with you.
Your stomach grumbled again and you grimaced silently praying for this lesson to be over so you could find some food.
"Hungry y/l/n?" James mocked before pulling a granola bar from his bag.
Your eyes immediately snapped to it, like a dog to a piece of meat. You could feel your organs silently begging for the food he wove in front of your face.
"Come on Potter don't be an asshole, give it to me." You said sternly.
"I am very good at being an asshole." He shrugged.
"Can't argue with that." You mumbled, "Can you just give it to me."
"I don't know." He hummed in amusement, "I'm a bit famished myself."
"Isn't famished a bit of a big word for you Potter?"
He glared at you before opening the wrapper, eyes still locked on yours and taking a bit out of the granola bar. He chewed loudly, making a point of it, before swallowing and letting out an exaggerated sigh.
If looks could kill James would currently be six feet deep. But since they cant he was smirking back at you bringing the bar back up to his lips.
Before he could place it in his mouth you leapt upon him snatching the bar from his hands and stuffing the whole thing into your mouth.
"Y/l/n, Potter! What on earth is going on?" Slughorn bellowed.
The whole class turned to see you halfway on top of the boy, mouth completely filled, James staring at you with looking both astonished and impressed by your actions.
You attempted to apologize but nothing but muffled hums would manage through your full lips. Your face splashed with crimson as you re organized yourself into your seat.
James burst into laughter at the sight earning a punch to the shoulder, "She's most certainly sorry professor." He spoke smugly, "She's just struggling to say so." He added slapping your back causing your hand to shoot to your mouth to keep you from spewing the granola bar you were currently attempting to swallow.
You felt your face wash red once again and you flipped off the boy beside you. He responded with another slap on the back and your hand once again flew to your mouth.
Slughorn sighed before returning to the lesson. You finally swallowed before turning triumphantly to James.
"Thank you very much for breakfast Potter." You snickered.
"How did you possibly see that as a win?" He asked with a chuckle.
"I wanted food, I got food." You smiled proudly before adding, "With no real consequences."
"Your so weird." James scoffed rolling his eyes in amusement.
"Thank you." You grinned cheekily before turning your head back to the front.
"For next week's assignment you will be studying, collecting ingredients for and then creating a potion."
You groaned along with the rest of the class, that was a lengthy project, that not one of you wanted to do.
"Now the project won't be due until next month because some potions take a month or so to create."
"Thank Merlin." you heard James mutter beside you
"You will also be working with a partner."
Instantly your eyes flew to the back of Remus' head and soon he turned around to lock eyes with you, nodding in silent agreement of partnership.
But unfortunately your professor continued, "Your partner will be the person you are seated next to."
"No!" You wailed throwing your head onto the desk in front of you, earning the attention of most of the room.
James let out a snort at your despair, "Am I truly that terrible." He asked feigning offense.
"Yes." You glowered. "Yes you are."
James only smirked before snatching the envelope sent by your professor from the air. He opened it scanning the words before turning back to you. "It says we have Vi-reti-ium." He said spelling out the last word slowly and incorrectly.
"Its Veritaserum dumbass." You scorned, "It is also a very complex truth potion."
"It can't be that bad." James shrugged. You rolled your eyes before snatching your potions book form your bag and looking up the name in the index. You flipped to the correct page and shoved the book at James.
He scanned the recipe eyes widening at its length and complexity.
"Shit." He mumbled.
"Yeah, shit" You huffed before glancing back down at the recipe. "When's the next new moon?"
James thought for a moment "Four days."
"Ok, meet me in the library after dinner so we can start gathering ingredients, we need to have them by then." You explained while placing your book back in your bag.
"Got it." He confirmed but his eyes were locked on a certain redhead who was leaving the room.
You sighed rolling your eyes, "Don't be late Potter." You muttered before turning and disappearing into the crowd of students exiting the classroom.
You sat in the library for forty five minutes.
Forty five minutes.
Each minute you prayed he would run in sweaty and smiling apologizing as he took a seat across from you and pulled out his books. But he didn't. He just didn't show.
Anger pulsed through you. He was bat shit if he thought you were going to so this whole project by yourself.
Finally you gathered your neatly splayed out papers and books and walked briskly from the library.
You walked promptly up to the Gryffindor common room, announced the password, (something you knew from spending countless  hours with Remus) and stormed inside.
You were greeted with the sight of the four marauders plus Lily lounging on the plush couches. Your eyes landed immediately on the dark haired boy who sat facing you. His dark eyes were shining brightly in the fire light, magnified by the glass they hid behind. His shirt untucked, tie loosened. His hair was a mess of black, a few loose ends dancing softly in front of his face. Of course he was far to distracted by a pair of emerald green eyes to notice your arrival.
For some reason that fact made you so much angrier as you marched up to the group.
"POTTER!" You yelled your voice echoing off the walls of the room.
His eyes immediately darted upward, his flashy smile only faltering for a second before returning when his gaze feel to you.
"Y/l/n!" He grinned, "to what do I owe this pleasure?"
"Pleasure my ass!" You shot back, "You were supposed to be studying with me in the library an hour ago!"
His eyes widened before he cringed momentarily closing them before they opened holding new guilt. "Yeah about that…"
"Let me guess." You hissed, "You had to catch up on your daily routine of harassment?" You motioned towards Lily who seemed to be very uncomfortable with the whole situation.
"Look y/l/n, I'm sorry I forgot. I mean the projects not due for a month anyway."
"Godric you are stupid." You said massaging your head, nursing the soon to be formed headache, "It takes a month to brew dumbass!" You yelled bending down so you were level with his face, attempting to intimidate the boy.
But your efforts failed when you saw his eyes soften, a sweet smile crawling slowly to his lips, "You know how adorable you are when your angry?" He mumbled suddenly unable to pry his eyes from your fiery completion and flushed face.
Your eyes widened with surprise as you raised your head away from him. You felt heat rise to your neck before scoffing.
"You better be at the library after breakfast tomorrow." You stated simply before walking briskly from the room before the rest of the group could notice the color invading your cheeks.
Lily also took this as her sign to leave gathering her stuff and murmuring goodbyes before retreating to her dorm.
James watched you exit the room before rolling his eyes and turning back to a group of wide eyed boys staring at him as if they had shut watched him decapitate someone.
"What?" James asked eyebrows knitting in confusion.
Remus and Sirius flipped their heads to each other sharing a glance then turning back to the now irritated boy
"What?"
Remus scoffed.
"Did you just flirt with a girl who wasn't Lily?" Sirius questioned in disbelief.
James scrunched his face in disgust, "What? No!"
Remus rolled his eyes letting himself plop backwards into the couch mumbling something similar to "I can not deal with this."
As Sirius burst into giggles. Peter who was beside him seemed oblivious.
"You totally just flirted with y/l/n!" He hollered over his laughter watching as James face filled with disgust once again.
"I did not!"
"You most certainly did!" Sirius bellowed laughter shaking his form.
"I was insulting her!" The boy retorted defensively.
"That is one terrible insult." Remus chimed in earning a glare through a pair of thick frames.
"I was-I didn't- t-that's not." He stuttered looking for the right words.
"'Remus your so adorable. Do you feel insulted?" Sirius smiled cheekily still giggling slightly.
"Godric Sirius how could you?" The werewolf responded in mock offense.
"Oh shut it Moony." James sneered.
"But Sirius insulted me!" His smile that of a wolf after trapping its prey.
"Ok so what if I did flirt with her?" James huffed in annoyance.
Sirius rolled his eyes, "Maybe the fact that you haven't flirted with any girl but Evan's since you were eleven?" He offered.
James flushed  muttering a half hearted "Whatever" and  then gathered his things. He didn't want to hear it.
The flirting didn't stop. Every chance that presented itself James leapt apon. He would compliment you, casually drop suggestive hints, leave his hand on your arm just a moment too long and so much more. The rest of the marauders caught on quick, which resulted in endless teasing of his vain efforts.
Because of this James had tried to stop, go back to the insults that he had become accustomed to but he couldn't, because for a fleeting moment before you scoffed and rolled your eyes, your cheeks would tinge and your eyes would momentarily widen and it was the most adorable thing he had ever seen.
Something about the way the y/e/c of your wide eyes would bounce off the slight pink of your skin would make his heart leap to his throat and his stomach fill with the flutter of wings. So he spent every moment with you flirting relentlessly just to catch a glimpse of your embarrassment.
Of course the dense boy thought nothing of it.  He had always been quite oblivious, so even with the remarks his friends through at him, he couldn't see what was right in front of him. He was in love.
You on the other hand were quite confused. At first you assumed that the flirting was natural. Something that James exhibited in every girl. But after a chat with Remus you quickly learned that was far from the truth. He had stated that while James did tend to have a flirtatious nature, he had never gone so over the top before with anyone except for Lily and yourself.
You had noticeably grimaced at the mention of Lily and the Gryffindor you were talking to had taken notice, but not spoken of it.
You then assumed he was doing it to get on your nerves, something he seemed to enjoy quite a bit. But when his daily harassment of Evans dwindled from uncommon to rare, you couldn't help but wonder.
You attempted to brush off the thoughts and feelings that kept you awake late at night but they simply stuck in place, the cement had already dried around them.  You knew you were being foolish, it was ridiculous to think that anything could happen, James being James and you being you. But that didn't stop you from hoping.
Hoping that maybe, this wasnt some bullshit he had used to embarrass you, hoping that he meant every comment he tossed at you, hoping that the lingering touches would last forever. You dared to hope them in secret, never speaking the wished out loud. Hell you would barley admit them to yourself, let alone others.
But now as he sat next to you in the library you couldn't help but heat up at the falling of his arm around your shoulders.
"Dumbass." You called, a nickname that you had adopted in response to his.
"Yes, love?" He smirked his heart jumping as you flashed red for just an instant.
"I told you to stop calling me that." You sneered attempting to ignore the loud thump of your quickening heartbeat.
"And I told you I don't care." He smiled wolfishly.
You sighed, "Whatever did you finish the essay on Jobberknolls?"
"Of course I did." He grinned as you rolled your eyes for what must have been the billionth time in the past hour.
"Can I see it?" You asked impatiently.
"Here you are my dear." He said placing a piece of parchment in front of you.
You felt your eyes roll instinctively before reading over his work, which to your surprise was done diligently and well.
You let an impressed expression take your features, looking back up at the boy who was smirking at you.
"I'm good aren't I?" He spoke wiggling his eyebrows.
"You're not terrible." you agreed reluctantly passing the paper back to him.  Just then three boys walked into the library.
Sirius immediately called to James getting shushed before even a minute passed his entrance. You quickly shrugged off James arm, not wanting the attention it would draw. Unfortunately it was too late, you watched as Remus raised his eyebrows in question, you rolling your eyes in answer.
The three boys stood in front of you as you scribbled a few final notes onto your essay ignoring the pointed looks they seemed to be sharing. They communicated in silence for a few seconds before James spoke up.
"Well y/l/n I've got to go but I'll see you around." He chipped and without any hesitation he leaned down and pressed his lips to your cheek.
You felt your skin connect for a mere second before he snatched his bag and walked up to the boys all who, just like you, were attempting to pick their jaws up off the floor.
"What?" James asked, oblivious to the action he had just taken. Confused and a bit annoyed he left the library his entourage slowly following him. Remus looked at you one last time. Your mouth still wide, cheeks pink, hand brushing the spot his lips just occupied.
He then walked quickly from the library to catch up with the other three boys. You sat in a daze for a few seconds.
You could still feel his soft lips burning on your skin, you could feel where his nose had brushed your cheek lightly.
Meanwhile Remus had caught up to his friends who all seemed very confused.
"What the hell is up with you James?" He asked stepping in front of the flustered boy.
"What do you mean? Why are you guys all freaking out?" He seemed completely oblivious.
"You just kissed y/n!" Sirius blurted smacking him in the back of the head.
"I did not!" He gasped completely appalled as he pushed his glasses back up his nose looking at Sirius, extremely confused.
"You just kissed her cheek you twat!" Remus shouted hit James over the head as well.
James scrunched his face, "I did no-" he stopped mid sentence, realization causing his eyes to widen. "Oh Merlin I did."
"Yeah! What the hell was that about!" Rumus asked impatiently.
"I don't.. I don't  know." James stumbled over his words, "I j-just did. It was like instinct, I didn't, didn't even think about it."
"Oh my Godric I knew it!" Sirius exclaimed in triumph, "Your in love with her!"
James mouth fell open ready to deny it.  But it suddenly hit him.
"I am in love with her." He muttered. "Oh Merlin I'm in love with her."
"Took you long enough to realize." Remus chirped, "I've known for weeks."
"Shove off Moony." James grumbled.
"Well are you gonna tell her?" Sirius asked, he was practically skipping with joy. Excitement readable in every word he spoke as he bounced up and down like he was on a sugar high.
"Umm I don't know." James was suddenly overwhelmed with information that had just become clear to him.
"I think she likes you too." Remus shrugged, "she asks about you alot, and she always gets pissed when I mention Evans."
"Oh shit Evans." James wanted to slap himself. How could he be so reckless to give his heart away at any chance he got? But with you it was different. He didn't care if Lily blushed before insulting him. He didn't notice when she bit her lip to hide a smile. He didn't know if she made adorable faces while she was thinking. But with you, he cared. He noticed. He knew.
"What am I supposed to do?" James asked glancing around at his friends asking- no begging for help.
"You should tell her James, like I said I think she likes you too."
"Ok." James sighed, "I guess I'll tell her."
That was much easier said than done. For the next week James was reduced to a pile of nerves and stutters when you came with in a 10 foot radius of him.
His flirty, smooth nature was out the window the second he realized his true feelings towards you.
The project became more and more difficult to work on as every brush of a hand or shared glance made him crumble into a blushing mess.
You were pissed. The good progress you had made was now dwindling as your partner became incompetent. So finally when the two of you sat in the library and James once again blushed like mad and spilled ink all over your essay simply because you had put your hand on his shoulder to show him something, you exploded.
"What in bloody hell is your problem Potter?!" You shouted, effectively getting shushed by a chorus of people.
James turn toward you looking like a deer caught in headlights.
"Umm I umm" he began to mumble.
"Seriously! Recently you cant even speak around me! What happened?" You interrogated the boy leaning closer to him.
James grasped for an excuse, fumbling and tripping over incoherent words.
"Potter I'm not fucking with you, what is up with you?" You hissed, further annoyed by his continuing flustered behavior.
James bit his lip glancing at the ground before turning back up to your angered face, he pushed his glasses up his nose and in a moment of desperation he collided his lips with yours.
The second you felt his lips on yours you pulled away, "Why did you do that?" You asked eyes wide almost as if you were frightened.
James' face went up in flames, "I- You- Remus said that.. that y-you might have liked me back and I-"
"You like me?" You asked in absolute disbelief.
"Of course I like you." James mumbled looking solemnly at the ground.
"Do not even begin to 'Of course' me!" You huffed, "You have been in love with Lily Evans for five years!"
"I was never in love with Lily!" Jame shot back.
"Bullshit! And you think that you can come to me and play with my feelings until Evans decides she likes you?" You said in disgust.
"No! No that's not what I wanted to do at all!" James gushed, "I really like you y/n. Luke really, really like you."
"How?! You were obsessed with another girl less than a month ago!"
"I don't know!" James yelled, his voice was shaky. "All I know as that the second we started this project, I wanted you. Not Lily. I think I'm in love with you."
You gulped harshly, "You mean it?" Your voice was hesitant, as if you were scared to ask the question.
"Yeah." James whispered letting his hand close around yours, "I really do."
"Then kiss me again."
He wasted no time. His lips met yours gracefully, they were warm and soft, his movements slow. You slipped your tongue into his mouth tasting butterbeer and chocolate, you craved more.
You pulled away intaking deep breaths, "You better not be fucking with me Potter." You murmured taking your bottom lip between your teeth, hoping to still taste him there.
"I wouldn't dream of it." He spoke, a dopey smile curving his lips as his thumb slowly brushed your cheek.
You hummed softly before pulling him down to meet your lips once again.

So I match you with.............. Kenshin
Tumblr media
You arrived in the past with a bang and somehow despite your tiny frame managed to carry a man four times your size out of a burning building. The whole experience honestly had you on edge. Just as you started to calm down another man dressed in green came riding up to you and the man you had just saved. Hideyoshi, the raven hair beside you called the man as he climbed off his horse and knelt down in front of both of you. He looked up from you and gave you the biggest death stare you had ever seen. He demanded you give him your name and background story. You were so shocked at the whole experience you simply stayed silent. The second he drew his sword you bolted. The simple scare tactic worked too well as you ran away from the men.
Of course, Hideyoshi followed you on horseback through the forest. You ran as fast as your tiny legs could carry you running straight into yet another man. He caught you in his arms and held you steady as you reoriented yourself. Heterochromatic eyes peered down at you. You were honestly super panicked and now apologizing profusely for running into the man. His features softened slightly as he looked down at the frightened creature in his arms, he could hear the sound of horses heading towards him in the distance. He gently wrapped his large hand around your smaller one and pulled you along as he started to run. Finally, he reached his horse hidden among the bushes.
The two of you remained crouched down in the bushes alongside the horses when a calm voice broke the silence, “Lord Kenshin, I have successfully secured us an escape route, if you would please follow me.” Kenshin then swiftly lifted you up and place you on top of his horse, before climbing on behind you. The three of you rode through the night for what felt like ages until you reached a small cabin in the woods. In the back of your mind, you couldn’t help but think this was how you were going to die. Kenshin helped you down the horse and lead you inside. Once inside, you got a better look at the man with a calm voice, and that’s when you realized that you knew him. Sasuke looked at you and instantly knew who you were. While Kenshin was outside brushing down the horses, Sasuke explained the situation to you. It was honestly all too much for your nerves to handle and you passed out.
You woke up in an extravagant room in Kasugayama Castle, you looked around the unknown room and sighed when you realized that it was not all one big dream. From the corner of your eye, you spotted a bunny scurrying out of your room, running in an unknown direction. A few moments later Kenshin appeared with the rabbit trailing closely behind him. He placed a tray filled with food next to you and crouched down beside you, “Sasuke told me that the two of you are from the same village, you are welcome to stay here until you return home.” After that, he swiftly got up and left.
In the days to follow you started helping out the castle staff, it was slow going, but your work was thorough. Something which the maids really enjoyed about you. You had been at the castle for a full week, and you still hadn’t spotted Kenshin again since the day he brought you breakfast.
Tasks done for the day, you made your way to the castle garden to read. After Sasuke had shown you the castle’s library, you had made it your personal mission to read every book within.
You sat in the garden in the shade of a big sakura tree when, suddenly you were surrounded by hundreds of rabbits. You smiled as the fluffballs nuzzled and cuddled you. Suddenly Kenshin appeared, “It’s strange to see the bunnies following around someone other than me.” He took a seat beside you and as if on cue half the rabbits jumped onto his lap and started cuddling him. There was a peaceful silence that stretched between the two of you as you went back to reading.
Kenshin eyes you curiously but then closed his eyes and laid his head down on the soft grass to take an afternoon nap. He never liked women and would usually avoid them like the plague, but you were different. He liked that you didn’t feel the need to impress him or try and wed him like those irritating woman from the different clans.
The next day the same thing happened, as you sat beneath the tree reading, Kenshin appeared. This time he started a conversation with you, you looked up at him from the book you were reading and smiled. Luckily for Kenshin, he had asked about a topic that piqued your interest, and you started chatting with the bunny warlord.
In the days to follow the two of you would always meet under the same tree at the same time. The more days that passed, the more comfortable you were around Kenshin, gradually dropping your guard and opening up. Soon he had made it past your barriers and in your eye, you now saw him as a dear friend
Ooooh how Kenshin loved his upgraded title and this new cheerful side of you. He started giving you the nickname little rabbit cause that is precisely what you were in his eyes. Shy and reserved at first but once out of your shell, energetic and excitable. He loved how you would burst into his room, excited to show him your newest drawing. He would legit steal them and put them on display for all to see.
The two of you would spend hours together, just talking and telling each other cool stories. Sometimes the two of you would just quietly sit in the same room and do your own tasks. Kenshin would do boring admin, and you would get completely absorbed in your drawing.
To be honest the more and more time the two of you cuties spent together the more Kenshin fell entirely in love with you. You were unlike any woman he has ever met. When he opened up about his past to you, you accepted him completely and still loved him without judging. Through your friendship with the bunny warlord, you helped him slowly work through the trama and all the negative feelings he would have. Some nights when he would have nightmares, you would hear him get up and sit out in the garden. You would grab a blankie and go and join him, placing the blanket over both your shoulders as you ask him to tell you about his dream. You may be short, but you were definitely full of love for Kenshin.
During one of his conversations with Sasuke, the ninja, let it slip that you liked mangas and animes. After a lengthy explanation as to what exactly that was, Kenshin got to work. In his spare time, he worked on drawing you your own little anime manga. When it was finally complete, he handed it over to you during one of your tea dates. You excitedly started reading in, and when you got to the end, you found a letter. You carefully broke the seal and opened it. Written inside was a confession of love from the bunny warlord himself. You leapt from the place you were sitting and tackled Kenshin down in a big hug showering his face with little kisses.
Kenshin loves that you show your affection so openly towards him. His eyes will light up in delight, especially if he hears you excitedly yell out his name from across the market street. He knows to brace himself as you usually run and jump into his arms, giving him the biggest hug. For a man that never smiles, whenever you are near or in his arms, he is beaming with pure happiness.
He loves how protective you can get over him as well. Especially when someone is trash-talking him, you are ready to fight. During these times, Kenshin will gently wrap his arms around your waist and bring you closer to him, and nuzzle his nose against your neck and whisper how much he absolutely adores you.
And fear not, no one dare say one bad thing about his little bunny unless they want to lose their head. He knows that half your hearing is basically gone so he will be sure to patiently repeat whatever he is saying to you if you didn’t catch it the first time. Again and if someone dares say anything about getting annoyed with having to repeat stuff to you, he, will, not, hesitate, too, teach, them, some, manners.
Kenshin would go to the ends of the earth and back to keep that beautiful smile on your face. You have saved him from the demons of his mind, and for that, he will be eternally grateful. Just as he has successfully brought you out of your shell, you have successfully brought him out of the darkness of his past and into the light of the future
Often the two of you can be found cuddled together with your rabbit army under your favourite sakura tree. Simply exchanging sweet kisses and interesting stories.
Otherwise, the two of you are spending a peaceful afternoon together in Kesnhins room, each busy with their own task. When Kenshin is done with his work for the day, he will place himself behind you, gently wrapping his arms around your waist, and propping his head up to rest on your shoulder. He will sit like this with you tight in his arms as you continue to get absorbed in your art.
He could spend hours just sitting with you in his arms while watching you gracefully sketch out the scene in your imagination. He will definitely drop a few sweet sneaking kisses on your neck and cheek as you work.
Other potential matches………………. Mitsuhide
I hope you enjoyed this, dear! 🌻🦋❤🥰

An Inconvenient Spark
Part I.  Summary: He's a Commander in the Resistance. You are a lowly force-sensitive thief from an equally lowly planet with order defying tendencies. You two under no circumstance get along. Your life take a turn the moment you decide to save his arrogant sorry-ass from certain death. If only you knew saving him would result in joining the Resistance finding not only your purpose in life - but also the biggest oaf-looking asshole in the whole galaxy. If only you could go back in time to that day - you would let him die, just to rid of this incessant headache Ben Solo is giving you. AU.
Warnings: language
Word Count: 2k
A/n:  i just needed an angsty, slow burn Ben Solo fic I guess. Go easy on me guys, this is my first time with writing.
Tumblr media
Ben Solo woke up with the intent to make that day better than the last one. Last day was - well, it was complicated. It was messy, unnecessary and downright ridiculous.
He still felt his frustration consuming every bit of his body. Yesterday, it had decided to sit on his heart and made a home in it. He didn't know how long he was going to feel it. And he hated the whole situation in each passing moment more.
Still, he forced himself to start the day as a new one. A blank page. Nothing else before the morning.
It would be for the best. For him, and for the whole base, actually. Yes, he decided then - he would do that, he would behave, he would pretend that everything was fine - just for the sake of the people who he led and commanded. And for her Mother - yes, for her he would behave.
When he stepped foot in the command center, the whole place fell silent for a moment.
Great.
Letting out a breath, he scanned the room to find a familiar face. After a second, Lt. Connix appeared next to him, a small smile disappearing from her face the moment her eyes found his.
"She's in her office, Commander. She's waiting for you."
"Thanks" - he muttered out, and went on his way.
When he reached the door of the office, he gave himself a moment to collect his thoughts. He pushed through the entrance, only to find himself face-to-face with her mother’s stern look.
"Commander, it's good to see you. Although, i believe this was due yesterday." - her tone made sure to have an edge in it.
He huffed out a breath in return. His annoyance was coming back in an instant.
"I apologize. I was.. I wasn't in the right state of mind last night and -"
"So I heard." - she replied. "Tell me, son.. what were you thinking? To send off your comrade without a blaster, and then leave her to fend for herself on her own."
Ahhh, right.
He knew this would be a problem. He just had a tiny little hope that his mother would somehow understand. Basically, he did nothing wrong. He just lost his cool for a moment back there. For a couple of moments, really, but that wasn’t important right now.
"We went back to her, she's fine and i didn’t think she'd be stupid enough to not have a blas-.."
"That's enough." - Leia pinched her nose with her delicate fingers and let out a sigh. "Ben.. you need to be smarter than this. I know the two of you had a rocky start, but this whole thing looks like you deliberately tried to leave her to die on that planet." - She was raising her voice now, obviously mad at this whole ordeal. "She's not just your fellow comrade, she's also under your guide." - She let out another long breath. "You have to fix this."
"Fine." - he reluctantly replied.
There were a lot of things Ben Solo learned in his 28 years of his life. One of the many was, that somehow women - and especially his mother - would turn out right in every argument. Every kriffing time.
Agreeing with her would be beneficial. And if he wanted to be honest with himself, a teeny tiny part of him felt guilty.
So, he let her have the last words, let her see how sorry he was - even if it only was an act. He would get scolded a little but then he would forget about the whole deal. Like nothing really happened.
"Good. I expect you to apologize to her." - she chided after a moment.
Ben let out an unwanted growl. "You cannot be serious! I won't apologize to that wench, she deserved to be left on that planet. Maybe this time, she learned something about why it is imperative to follow a simple kriffing order."
"You will apologize, end of discussion." - Leia decided to ignore her son's outburst, knowing well enough that further engaging Ben will only lead them to another heated argument.
His chest heaved. He was seeing red. Why- why should he apologize? He hadn't done anything that bad, really. He just wanted to teach her a lesson about not following his orders. Nothing else. After all, he was her commanding officer, she should be listening to him. He didn’t left her there, he just wanted her to see that she wasn’t the only person who knew how to play this game.
She was a pain in his ass, thats what she was in reality, ever since he first saw her. She - without a doubt - was the most infuriating person he had ever seen in the whole universe. She was reckless, defiant and most importantly, she tended to ignore orders when she saw fit. Well, honestly, that only happened when said order came from him. For everyone else- she was compliant, nice even. And that made him hate her more. She drew him to the fucking wall.
He was snapped out from his train of though the moment Leia started to speak again.
"And the two of you are grounded for a week. Maybe this will teach you a lesson, too." A moment passed in silence, but Leia wasn't done just yet. "Oh, and please be a dear, and deliver the news to her."
He couldn't  fucking believe this.
***
"WHAT?"
You and Finn were seated in the mess cantina in the morning. The room was empty except for the two of you, everyone else was already busy with their assignments at hand. Life on the Resistance base meant that work started way too early and ended way, way too late.
You however, were back from a mission. From a really bad, tiring one to be specific. The Falcon landed in hanger B late last night, and since nobody assigned any task for you in the morning, you decided to sleep as long as you could.  Hence, the reason you are the only people in the cantina, with Finn sitting across you, both eating the blob that was left behind.
"You heard me right. Kriffing bastard almost left me on that planet this time. Apparently, to teach me a lesson about defying orders." - you grinned. "Can you fucking believe it?"
Finn looked at you in disbelief. "How are you so calm about this?" - he thinned his eyes at you, clearly being suspicious of your state of mind right now. "You.. - you are planning something, aren't you? That's it, right?"
"No, my dear friend. I'm not gonna do a thing about it." - your grin grew wilder. "Someone else will...I hope." - with that, you got back on munching the blob people here called breakfast.
While eating, you thought back to last day's events. The whole thing was - well, avoidable. If only the two of you just knew how to behave when things went awry. You often found yourself thinking about this arrangement. After saving his ass on your home planet, you found yourself in a place where you could choose. Choose about your future, about what you wanted to do with your life. So you left with him and his team to join the Resistance. Acclimation to this whole situation was pretty easy for you, easier than you previously thought. Everyone was welcoming, and very friendly. The realization of you force powers was the cherry on top. As they told you, there were only two of them on the base.
Since your first day, you have been helping them with everything you could. Sometimes with mechanical work, sometimes with piloting, sometimes with missions. Work was easy to find. Peace - not so much. Not really, when a certain Commander is always pestering you with little, incessant jabs and remarks. Not when every time you come up with a wonderful idea he immediately shuts you up. And definitely not when he leaves you on Nar Shaddaa. You huff out a breath at the thought, shaking your head.
This fucking man.
Blob put aside, you and Finn were chatting about nothing, sipping caf when the doors of the cantina opened, and Ben Solo swaggered through. Your gazes locked on each other. You waited for this moment since the morning.
Being on base only for a couple of months wasn't much, but you thought of yourself as a good judge of character. While Ben Solo sometimes was still a mystery to you, her mother wasn’t. You instantly knew how Leia worked. And you had a suspicion that she knew that you knew. Looking at his annoyed face, you realized Leia was playing along. You were baffled at the thought and forced the creeping smile from your face. You needed to savor this moment.
Your commander stopped at your table, face now impassive but the twitching of his left eye and the current energy around him gave his true feelings away. He was angry and annoyed, and at that moment, you were the happiest person in the galaxy. The staring contest  however, was interrupted with Finn's throat clearing.
You put up your sweetest smile you could muster and batted your lashes at him before speaking.
"Commander Solo, are you joining us for breakfast?" - you chirped.
He looked up at the ceiling then, breathing through his nose. You loved him so riled up.
As he realized that he didn't want to spend any more time in your presence than it was necessary - he leered down at you, and started talking.
"No." A beat. "I'm sorry for the mean, awful, accurate things I said and that I almost left you on Nar Shaddaa." - he still managed to be cocky and arrogant, even when apologizing. You couldn't believe it.
"Thank you, Commander. I hope your bruised ego will get well soon from this beautiful apology. Aaaaand, I just hope next time you would be a little more professional." - You couldn't just let him go with a sorry-ass apology like that. He needed a jab. Just a little one. "I mean.. one would think that after saving your life, you would.. I don't know.. not leave me to die on a hostile planet maybe?"
He was getting angrier now, the force around him resonated. While you loved making him angry, you realized this was not the right time to engage in another argument. After last night, you didn’t have the energy to fight, so you decided to let this conversation go as soon as possible. After all, you got what you wanted.
"What more do you want me to say, Princess? I'm sorry, take it or don't, I don't care."
What a jerk.
"Most importantly, both of us are grounded for a week, and for the time being, you're training only with Rey."
Oh. Ohhh.
You could work with that.
A whole week without working with Ben Solo? Last night, on that planet, while you desperately waited for  rescue you could only think about how unlucky you were to be left behind.
Now? Now, you were certain you were the luckiest girl in the galaxy.
Leaving without another word, you again had found yourself with Finn, a shit-eating grin already on your face.
"Why are you so happy about this? Didn't you hear the part you are grounded? For a week." - he looked at you incredulously.
"Oh, Finn. Don't you see? I got myself an apology and a Ben Solo-free week. I really couldn't have hoped for more."
If being mouthy and sarcastic around the Commander always resulted with a week of not seeing him, you would probably just try to sabotage every mission from now on.

I never imagined falling in love with a Stark...
N/A: So this is a request I have for a while, but I did not know what to write. The more specific are your request, the harder it is to write, believe me. At least for me. I'm sorry it took so long, really. Forgive my creative block <3 Request for:  firedav2k18
Tumblr media
You and Maria met in the Stark Tower (when there was still one ...)
Since the fall of Shield, Maria was now working for your father, so eventually you would run into each other.
Maria never spoke, however. She would greet you casually whenever you passed her desk on your way to the lab but that's all.
One night, you got stuck in the lab until late. And as soon as you was leaving you noticed that Maria had not left yet either.
"Tony stuck you there late or are you just a workaholic?"
Had it not been for the Shield training, Maria would have been scared by your sudden arrival.
Maria wasn't one of small conversations with strangers but your relaxed posture was enough to disarm her. Besides, it was really a relief to turn away the views of so much paperwork.
"I guess I'll take the second option" she replied as she massaged her neck and you smiled, pulling out a chair and sitting across from your desk.
"Well, I was about to order Chinese food. Join me?"
Maria's expression was neutral and her eyes hard and suspicious. Her whole being shouted "I am a highly trained agent." So before she could respond, you added:
"As a company, of course. I haven't eaten anything all day and I bet you do not either. We can appreciate the silence..."
Something softened in Maria's eyes and she almost gave a small smile.
"I would enjoy a meal in the stomach right now. But ..." Maria raised her eyebrow and pointed at the pen she still held for you. "I will pay"
You frowned but didn't question.
You then ordered the food for the two through Happy (he knew your favorite Chinese restaurant)
"So I've never seen anyone stare at Tony like you do. Besides Pepper, of course. It's quite refreshing, I must say. It's fun" you smiled as you played absentmindedly with a tablecloth.
Maria didn't miss the fact that you called Stark by Tony. All Tony's employees clearly idolized and respected him but no one dared call him by his first name.
You didn't seem to have this problem though ...
But that was no subject to bring to a first conversation.
These small quick encounters became casual between the two.
You would always pass Maria's table and leave for her the breakfast or lunch. Always reminding her to eat.
And when you didn't, that meant you didn't remember eating either. Then she would go to the lab and you would eat together.
Maria realized that what she had with you was the most normal thing she had in her life.
Having a military career and then moving on to Shield left her no room for a normal civilian life.
She admitted that she lost the action when Shield fell but she also appreciated the normalcy she could have with you.
She also realized that it was becoming easier and easier to be herself close to you.
It was as if you unlocked all the locks and all the walls she'd erected for years.
It terrified her but it also gave her a lightness in her heart that she had not felt in years.
A peace she needed.
So she went against all the instincts that told her to run in the opposite direction and decided that maybe it was time for you two to get out of the Stark Tower.
"Hey little Stark." Maria drew your attention from the door of your lab (before she'd suspected she had so few people there until she realized it was because your own 'office' was there)
You turned your head so fast that later you knew you would have a pain in your neck.
You and Maria had already talked a lot but you had never gotten into the subject 'Stark'.
Okay, she was a highly trained agent and badass and smart as hell, you knew that eventually she would call the points.
But still ...
You weren't accustomed to this last name attached to you.
Because no one but Tony, Pepper and Happy really knew .. (and now Maria)
"Do you want to go out for coffee? As a real and decent date, this time" Maria knew that she seemed all confident and calm but inside she was melting with nervousness.
"Of course" you stammered, still in a state of surprise and approached her, pulling off your coat and hanging on the hook by the door, picking up your jacket "I need fresh air" you took two steps with her before word encounter click on your head. "Wait ... d-date?" You stuttered again, feeling the blood rushing to your cheek. Maria smiled and pulled you into the elevator as you staggered in front of it.
"Yes. Date. Is that all right?"Maria suddenly seemed more nervous than she tried to hide.
For God. She faced death several times, she should not feel so nervous about a simple, silly coffee.
"No, no. Is perfect. And maybe we can take the opportunity to talk about this Stark thing ... " you remarked, staring at the tips of your boots as you shoved your hands into the jacket pocket to keep them still.
"Yeah, we can talk about Stark ..." Maria smiled quietly at you and you let the air out in relief.
The coffee was not too far from the tower, so you took advantage of the beautiful day you made to walk the same.
You have entered a comfortable silence all the way.
The bell at the caffee shop door wakes you up. Maria touched your elbow to get your attention.
"The usual?" Maria asked and you smiled, knowing she knew your usual request. You nodded and Maria smiled back. "Do you choose the place?" You agreed and walked away from her looking around the surroundings search for a place isolated from the others to have more privacy. You sat at the window at one of the last tables and watched Maria at the counter making the orders.
You took that moment to analyze her.
Maria always looked beautiful. But you never cease to be surprised how much.
Today she had a less formal look than usual. Opting for tight jeans, rather than pants / social skirt. A white button-down blouse and jacket on top. Low-heeled boots, instead of jumps. Her hair was loose, making little waves on her shoulders and wearing little makeup.
Maria chose this moment to look for you and her eyes locked with yours.
You caught her gaze, feeling drawn to the blue sea of your eyes, until the clerk caught Maria's attention for the requests.
You decided to get up and help with the requests, since she had picked up two croissants as well.
Maria chose to sit next to you instead of your front and you enjoyed it.
Her shoulders brushed and you took a sip of coffee to hide the blush on your face.
The problem is, drinking coffee in a nervous state makes you a fool.
You got the nerve to get cream on your nose.
You frowned, feeling like an idiot, and Maria bit her lip to keep from laughing.
She lifted her hand and ran her thumb over the tip of your nose, wiping the cream and bringing her finger to her mouth.
"There"
The intimate gesture didn't go unnoticed but Maria didn't seem bothered.
"So I called the points about you but you don't have to say anything if you don't want to." Maria decided to break the silence.
"Yeah, well .. no one really knows, other than Tony, of course. Pepper and Happy" you shrugged softly. "I ... I discovered it when I was 15. My mother planned to tell me when I was 18. But hiding a letter on her computer is not the best way to hide something from ... me" Maria smiled imagining you 15-year-old snooping your mother's computer.
"You must know the kind of flair Tony was. Then you must wonder why she hid it from him or me"
"That would have made the press crazy." Maria guessed. "And Tony was not quite the best example at the time. I still don't think it is. No offense" you laughed at Maria's sincerity.
"Not taken. You're right, actually. My mother felt that no money in the world was worth my safety and emotional and psychological stability. But well ... I found out and was always very curious, so I hacked Jarvis" Maria almost choked on her coffee.
You smiled, holding out a napkin for her
Does anyone say with such naturalness that hacking one of the biggest security systems of anyone else than Tony Stark and at age 15?
"Definitely someone with Tony's genes" you smiled accepting as a compliment.
"Tony, of course, found me after that and ... one thing led to another" you shrugged. "I didn't want to be exposed, though. It was a surprise that he managed to keep me hidden from everyone".
"You have no idea" Maria murmured.
She wondered if even Fury knew.
"He's a good father" you shrugged, teasing the coffee. "And pretty protective if you ask me"
Maria smiled affectionately at you and took your hand under the table.
"But?"
You laughed and stopped playing with the coffee, turning to her.
"There is no 'but'. Incredibly" you smiled and for a minute Maria was completely lost in your eyes, your face.
Watching closely, you were definitely Tony Stark's daughter.
"If someone had told me a few years ago that I would fall in love with a Stark. I would have thrown them from Helicarrier" Maria murmured as she thought aloud
You smiled silly as she opened her eyes as she realized what she had said.
"At least it was the right Stark"
Maria grunted.
"This ego definitely comes from him"
"Maria?" Maria looked away from the table to you "Shut the fuck up and kiss me"
Maria Hill as a good agent that was, promptly followed the orders.

SHE'S MY NOONA
Chapter 7
At BTS practice room
The other boys were busy with their stuffs when Jimin the curious one wondered where Min ah went leaving Min young.
But Jin already knew that's why he just smiled. Jimin's question got everyone's attention. " yeah, it's weird how can she leave Min young?" Namjoon wondered. "Jin, you talked to her last you actually know right?!" Tae cried making Jin face him.
"Yah!, she just went washroom by the way she'll just be back now." Jin cried at the boys who were overreacting. "Then why take so long, what if she fainted?!" Jimin worried panicking all around trying to leave when Jin stoped him.
"Yah!, she's alright how can you go a woman's washroom do you want to end up in prison for perverting a woman." Jin cried as the other boys realized and chuckled.
"She'll just be back." Yoongi suggested as he lay down to get sleep.
Later, That night.
The boys were busy preparing to sleep.
Meanwhile
Min ah was having dinner with her grandmother. Everything was quiet till grandmother talked.
Tumblr media
"I heard you went to see them today, I thought at first you hated them." She slowly talked."granny, when did I say that in fact I only took Min young because she wanted to." Min ah pouted as granny laughed.
"Arasso." Granny chuckled making Min ah more nervous. "Granny!." Min ah cried. " Have you heard from Lee seung gi?" Granny brought it out making Min ah uncomfortable since she has heard from him a long time but she still believed perhaps seung gi had an emergency.
"Granny, I know he'll be back." Min ah cried as she happily getting the dishes done. "Omo!, your such a persimist." Her granny cried as she went into her room.
Min ah's p.o.v
Since Seung gi left for military he only spoke to me a few times maybe he was really busy. I just stayed waiting for the moment he'll be back and get married like the way he promised. Just remembering such things I used to do with him before he left makes me to keep on loving him.
Ooh Seung gi I hope you come back to me, I thought smiling at myself. Today was a really nice day I opened my phone to watch videos when my friend sent me bts mv.
"Yah!, Min ah you have no rights to hate my babies just watch this and it will change your mind." She texted me my friend Go ara is a k pop maniac which makes me really scared, oh Go ara bts have destroyed you.
So I decided to at least watch the mv. Everything looked normal but they reminded me how fun I had today. Jungkook was really cute but...I remembered on how I hugged him..I must have been crazy why did I do that what if he thinks I'm a crazy noona of his.
Tumblr media
Should I clear the misunderstanding?, aniyo but it looked normal right..aish! This perverted mind if mine concentrate!..I hit myself.
Back to BTS
That night Jungkook could not probably sleep even after what happened he just kept staring blankly at the roof still fantasizing about the hug. "Yah!?, Jungkook why did you get mad at the meeting without a reason that's so not you. You always get mad when your..whatever." Tae who got up and angrily asked Jungkook since they were pretty close.
"Your my close friend, tell me why your acting weird now days.?" He gently asked him.
Jungkook's p.o.v
It was true Teahyung was totally my close friend and a hyung to me. I didn't know whether I should tell him since I wasn't sure of my heart.
"Tae hyung, the truth is I think I'm in Love." I managed to get it out of my chest to Tae. I thought his reaction would be disappointment or comforting but he just laughed out which made me angry.
"Mianhaeyo, but we already know about it is it the kind of feeling when.." I then interrupted him by finishing. "The kind of feeling when you can't stop staring at her, you miss her more when she's away, your heart explodes just by seeing her and.." Then Taehyung stoped me.
Tumblr media
"Who is she?" Taehyung asked "that I can't tell I want to protect her." I cried as Tae just laughed.
Taehyung's p.o.v
This guy can't he just admit that he is in Love with Min ah. I guess he won't give up even if Min ah ssi has a boyfriend.
The next day
I woke up only thinking about the date I asked her yesterday I kept thinking what I would do today to see you despite my busy schedule, sometimes I wish I wasn't famous ever since I met you. You always run through my mind like I've known you like forever.
"Hey!, it's the boy in luv." Someone cried as we got out of our room only to realise it was J hope trying to tease me. I knew it Taehyung was not to be trusted as I angrily chased him.
I wished I couldn't have chased him down the hall since we met with them Black pink including Jennie and her friends. Most of my hyungs greeted without awkwardness but it was me who just bowed and left.
"What's with him?" I heard her members ask themselves. My hyungs had already predicted this after we bumped into eachother.
We were busy having our breakfast when she texted me. I almost threw away my phone from sudden happiness which drew attention from my hyungs. I just felt my heart flutter loudly.
I read the message it said
Jungkook, if you are having a bad day just forget about everything and fighting
So I thank her back. She really made my day today I was just relieved that she was okay. I hope she doesn't break my promise.
"Who is it, is it the girl?" Taehyung teased silently as I just denied.
Meanwhile
Min ah's p.o.v
I was at the cafe at my friend's just worrying. My seung gi when I remembered Jungkook my little brother. Is he worried right now about me..Should I greet him?
"Yah! Who are you chatting with this early in the morning?!" My friend Go ara who came to give me company cried and glared that I was leaving her out. "Mianhaeyo, I was just checking on my dongsaeng, he gets weak very early in the morning." I chuckled
"You have a dongsaeng?, why don't I know of it? Is he a man?" Go ara cried confused as I node to her texting Jungkook an encouraging text. "Jinja!, then where does he leave?" "In Seoul." I answered.
Tumblr media
"Then will you introduce him to me, you know I'm looking for a date since it's almost festival." She cried having no idea of which dongsaeng I was talking about, I felt bad for my friend since I had to keep this secret that we are close to BTS for their safety.
"But the festival is near and Lee Seung gi is still not back I thought they should be back before that day." I said "Yah!, Min ah all the enlisted people have already been back for week now, probably no one was left behind so Seung gi should have been back by now."
These words shocked my heart. I didn't realise up to date how foolish I was. He must have been waiting for me. "Yah!, Min ah are you crying? Stop doing that you'll get sick." Go ara cried trying to comfort me.
"He's so foolish, he couldn't even call you." Go ara tried to comfort me but I know it was my mistake. "Min ah!, are you crazy you are still blaming yourself it's time to open your eyes he's blinding you." She cried "stop it!, Seung gi isn't like that he must have his reason. I trust him." I muttered
"Min ah you trust him too much." Go ara felt angry and left the cafe as a stroke of tears came from my eye. I wasn't feeling well I just wanted to find him.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile
BTS were on the radio getting prepared for being the host in their show.
Jungkook was getting his make up done with his fellow hyungs. He just kept staring at his screen waiting for Min ah's reply. "Jungkook, you don't seem very happy are you expecting someone to call you?" His make up artist asked as he just nodes.
Jungkook's p.o.v
My makeup artist and I were friends. She was my noona who always put makeup on me. She helps me in a lot of problems.
Tumblr media
"Is that person special?, you don't always wait for a people." She said fixing my hair as I just smiled looking at the mirror. "Judging by your face it seems she's special." She said smiling at me.
"But Ji ahn what does it mean when a girl hugs you from behind?" I managed to ask nervously. "Well, I'm not sure but to me if I would hug my boyfriend from behind I'd mean that I trust him and love him." She said
But it wasn't what I expected so soon she gave an answer that fitted people who are in a relationship." Kumaoh." I said sadly.
"Why?, did I not give a correct one?" Ji ahn cried "did someone hug you or is it her?" She cried teasing me. "If you aren't satisfied just go ask her yourself, aren't you two dating?" She asked slowly.
"Aniyo, she doesn't even know that I have feelings for her." I sadly said
I was about to go in when she texted me
"You are really hard to approach but if you saw something in her, don't hesitate but you have to be care
Mianhaeyo about the promise, something came up so we aren't able to meet, Jungkook it's not an easy day for noona too.
I was disappointed but it was okay since I just worried that Min ah was having a bad day..I wish I could help her.
At the radio show
The show had already started and it was aired as the bts were asked a lot of different question from the show and fans.
Till
"Okay today we have a special fan of bts from China." We then have her a round of applause the fan seemed really happy. she then mentioned me as her bias and asked us questions.
"Befor I leave I wanted to ask BTS about their love life." This made us laugh. " sincerly we don't have time for those things." Namjoon our leader had to lie.
"What about you Jungkook?" The DJ asked "the truth is in life we all need eachother but someone who can make you happy for a lifetime. We also love our fans but we also need our personal time." I managed to smile as the others supported me.
Tumblr media
"Our golden maknae is finally growing up, he really is awesome ." They joked
So we both performed and joked to each other. So I decided to sing Min ah an encouraging song.
"Wow really good but who are you dedicating this song too it's really touching." He asked " Well this song I was dedicating it to my fans army and those who have a bad day today." I gently said.
After the radio we both went back to our van. Everyone was so tired so our manager drove up to our apartment where we lived.
Even though Min ah postponed it I just wanted to see her since we came out early. "Tomorrow, Jungkook you have a photo shoot, Taehyung you know that you should increase your practicing skills and Jin you practice for hosting the show with Jennie."
We were all surprised but why didn't Jin tell us about him hosting the show with Jennie?, was he afraid I'd look bad." I wondered
Meanwhile
Min ah was randomly walking around where Seung gi has been coming with her from the time they started dating. This hurt her pride she wanted to ask him a lot of questions because she missed him.
Tumblr media
She sat on a near bench and cried a little for Seung gi to appear. She then heard a sweet song that lifted her from her seat. She realized across the street their was street performance that always got her attention.
Shin min ah's p.o.v
I got attracted already since I loved to listen to music. The guy was awesome since he played with guitar and sang so gently that I fell in love with his voice.
Though he seemed pretty familiar because of his voice. He was wearing a hat and happily finished singing, everyone clapping their hearts out till the wind...
Tumblr media
I was about to leave when I heard him. "Everyone it's Jungkook!!!" One fan screened. "Jungkook?" I turned only to find him struggling to from the fans but first I had to hide.
Jungkook's p.o.v
I don't know why I had to come but I just wanted a break from thinking too much about her. So I came to the street to enjoy my music with people.
That's when the wind accidentally blew my hat away and people saw me. I was so scared a lot of fans were around me, I just need help.
But then something warm grabbed my hand and chased the people trying to protect me when she pulled me and as both ran away from the fans.
Tumblr media
I never believed in Destiny and a lot of things but after I met you, you made me want to believe in them.

Smitty's Thailand Adventure - Day 3
In this installment - American Ice cream, shitty VR games, a pretty decent burger, many long minutes of waiting, and the ultimate Asian BBQ.
I slept better last night. Still awake at 6am, still not sleeping very well. I got up, got breakfast from Asia's forefront of white hegemony (White Family Mart. That's what it's called in Google maps, anyway. The signage doesn't indicate it's preference for an ethnostate, but the place is much whiter than other Family Marts.), and then waited for Josh to get back to me about our plans for the day. I read some more of Growth Mindset - one chapter about whether you believe that your partner's traits are static or able to be changed, and how that could impact your relationship.
I got bored of sitting around. Josh said we were meeting at a train station at 12. I left at 11, intending to explore. I'm feeling pretty confident with Bangkok's train system - Google maps helps a lot. I got to the station at 11:20 and started walking around. I was immediately hit by the smell of the pollution coming off the street. Cars, garbage, smoke from street food, sewage - it affected me pretty hard today. I saw on Google maps that there was an open art place on the street next to the station, so I went to check it out. It was closed, and the rest of the street was pretty gross, so I went back to the station and waited.
The plan was for me to have lunch with Josh and his Girlfriend Espy. She's Thai/Chinese, from the fancy area. Josh calls her Gucci Gang because of all the branded shit she buys. I met her the night before, briefly, at the drinks thing in District W. I didn't really get to interact with her - too busy entertaining everyone else.
I got back to the station at 11:30 and started playing Pokemon on my phone. I got a text from Josh at 11:45 - change the meeting time to 12:10, she's running late. Okay, no problem. Another text at 12 - still running late, probably gonna be 12:20. Sure thing. Josh stopped waiting for her and got on a train. She sent him a picture of her walking into the train station. He sent her back one of walking into the train and said see you at the next station.
Tumblr media
(where I spent an hour waiting)
She arrived at 12:30. She shook my hand and introduced herself again. She was wearing a black singlet and short denim shorts, and a Gucci belt with two Gs on it. She gave me a banana flavoured Kit Kat and then we were walking. She was very affectionate towards Josh. We got into a taxi to head towards our lunch restaurant. They sat in the back and whispered to each other in a mixture of Thai and English, and I sat in the front watching the taxi driver do his very best not to get us killed on the Thai roads. Josh had said it was a fancy area, so I had to dress nicely. Josh has also previously criticized someone else to me for wearing a similar outfit, but that's neither here nor there.
The restaurant was a burger place in a food court called The Commons - a shared space for artisinal foods. The burger was 260 baht - roughly $11. It was pretty good. I prefer Grill'd though. There was a tv behind in my line of sight playing weird clips from YouTube - the first was some Arabian princes doing a wheely in a 4 wheel drive in order to change two of the tires while it the car was moving. I chatted with Josh and Espy while we ate. They met on Tinder - Espy's full name is a Spanish word, and good old Columbia Joe made a pun in Spanish that went straight over Espy's head as his opening line. Must have worked though.
Tumblr media
We took another taxi back to District W, where I had a haircut scheduled. We went to Starbucks, where Josh spent a while working on his business while we waited for my appointment. The Starbucks girls drew love hearts on his drink and Espy got mad. It was around here that I realized that I was participating in a date, from the outside. Time ticked on, I walked over to the barber.
I had to walk through the area we had dinner and drinks in the night before. It had been smokey and dirty and loud, but during the day it was peaceful. I found the barber. There was a guy getting a cut throat shave, and a bunch of people hanging out. A huge Asian dude was my barber. He touched up my fade and did a pretty good job - done in 20 minutes. It cost 500 baht - roughly $24. I think Josh said that 4000 baht - $200 - is the average monthly wage? Or weekly? Can't remember. Some stuff here is so cheap.
I went back to Starbucks feeling a million bucks after the haircut. Josh and Espy were playing PUBG Mobile, so I sat down and played some more Pokemon. They asked if I wanted a turn and I said I wouldn't be able to criticize my kids if I did. We sat at Starbucks for another hour while Josh waited for the last horse race to finish so he could push out his results for the day.
As we left, Espy needed the bathroom, and asked Josh to come with her. He later told me that she did this so he wouldn't be standing near the Starbucks girls who drew on his coffee.
A train ride to Siam, for their VR experience. It was pretty cool in there - a huge IMAX complex, with cinemas and shit. Think the one at Highpoint, but half as crowded and way more spread out. They had 8 small rooms for VR. Espy tried Beat Saber, and Josh and I did Arizona Sunshine - horde mode Zombies. In the VR, we were in a warehouse with zombies streaming in. We had to find a key to open a door. It took us a few waves to find the key. The animations were buggy - zombies jumping from one floor to the next without moving their limbs, janky flailing. The animations when they got shit were cool, but the guns were a little hard to control. The experience cost 150 baht ($6) each, but only because Espy had a half price coupon because of her phone company. It was only good once, and Josh didn't wanna pay $12 for 20 minutes, so we left to get ice cream.
Swensons is an American ice cream place. It's not as good as Pidapipo on Lygon street, but it was okay. While we were eating, Josh gave me a lesson on the Wai - the stereotypical Thai hand thing. He said you only do it to people above you in the social hierarchy. He also said that the social hierarchy goes Old People, Foreigners, then people above you like your boss or your parents. He insisted that I not Wai as a way of saying thank you, because people would be weirded out by it. I said that it'd be like if we had a social convention on who we were allowed to give a thumbs up to. He agreed that it was an inefficient social thing, but insisted anyway.
Another train. Siam, where Swensons and the VR was, is like the mini-Flinders street of the skytrain. We went back on our line to 3 stops past District W to On Nut. Musti, the Egyptian guy from last night, booked us a table at Best Beef. It, allegedly, is the best beef in Thailand. We walked along a dodgy sidewalk, past construction sites featuring a 10-ton crane sitting on scaffolding over a gigantic pit, until we got to this crazy warehouse packed with people.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There must have been 500 people crammed in there. It was BBQ, cooked on the table KBBQ style, but an all you can eat Buffet for 469 baht ($20). The line was long - when we got there, there were 60 groups of 1-4 people in line before us. Praise Allah for Musti, because he'd booked a table and we walked straight in and sat down.
We ordered almost everything on the menu. They didn't bring us everything we ordered, but what the brought out was enough. Towering stacks of plates of meat.
Tumblr media
We must have had 5 or 6 stacks like this. It was smoky and loud, but we had a great time. We stayed for the full 2 hours we were allocated. I spent a long time talking Islam with Musti. I talked about teaching with Espy - she used to teach English to little kids. We cooked a lot of meat, with no regard to cross contamination or food safety.
We headed out around 9:30. Josh was taking Espy home, so I went back on the train alone. I wasn't worried or nervous - I'm finding the trains really useful and easy now. I walked home, past White Family Mart, past the massage girls who still haven't heckled me, and fell asleep almost as soon as I sat down in my room.
