Seeing as how long I have been a HUGE fan of the airbender series (ATLA), it's actually kind of ridiculous that I never got into the fandom. Anyway, humor me while I go through each of my ocs and babble about their roles, histories, and bending styles in the ATLA universe! Also please excuse the fact that they had zero afro-textured options for hair in this one lol.
*Check under the cut for an unnecessary amount of lore.*
Kipling ~ Waterbender | Northern-style waterbending, vine/plant-bending, healing
Water Tribe Babeyyyyy
I don't really see Kip hailing from the Southern or Northern Water Tribes, but rather from a coastal village that developed after a handful of Southern Water Tribe hostages escaped one of the prisoner of war strongholds in the Earth Kingdom. I mean, if Hama (The Puppetmaster) and the plant benders from Foggy Swamp were any indication, there were water benders scattered all over the Earth Kingdom during Lord Ozai's military campaign.
Bending-wise, Kip has always been an average waterbender, whose bending is strongest when she's manipulating the water in plants and vines. When she comes of age, she is determined to advance her skills and find a way to serve her tribe more directly. So she travels to the Northern Water Tribe to seek an apprenticeship. There Kip advances her skills in traditional water bending forms (because up until then, her methods have been rather unorthodox) as well as her affinity for healing.
While Kip is up north, she does get close to Princess Yue in their healing classes. For a long time, Kip develops what she believes is a stupid crush, but eventually discovers the Princess has mutual feelings. Step aside, Sokka, you ain't the only one. Kip and Yue explore their relationship, but only briefly until the guilt and paranoia of getting caught and tarnishing Yue's reputation catches up to them. Kip ends up leaving in the dead of night leaving nothing but - you guessed it - a poem for Yue to find.
Kip happens to be one of the travelers Team Avatar meets while they're on the road. It's quite some time after the invasion of the Northern Water Tribe. This is after Yue has passed on, but before the group reaches Ba Sing Se. Both being kind of self-taught waterbenders, Kip and Katara bond very easily. Kip has a hard time being around Sokka since it's the first time she's felt something for someone since Yue. Still, despite Kip's efforts to ignore Sokka, they end up bonding over a lot of stuff, both stupid and serious. I'm not going to go into details about what went down when they inevitably learned of each other's past relationships with Yue, but yes, there were lots of emotions. A lot of Kip trying to run away and shake herself of Sokka. A lot of Sokka battling between pursuing her or leaving her alone. It's a mess. And no I still don't know how it turns out. Haven't planned it out that far.
After Ozai is defeated, Kip makes her living as a traveling waterbending instructor with her good Earth Kingdom friend, Khleo. She travels the territories, finding hidden water tribes and informing them of the fall of Ozai. She works with Khleo and the community members to open smalls schools, closely modeled after the earthbending schools in Omashu.
***
Khleo ~ Earthbender | earthbending, sandbending, lavabending
Khleo had a rocky start to their journey. Sorry, I couldn't help it.
They were born in an area that bordered on the Si Wong Desert and the mountain chain dividing the land from Chameleon Bay (where they later meet Kipling.) Naturally, Khleo picks up a little bit from each of the known forms of earth manipulation. Although they develop into a fully realized master by the time they reach adulthood, they don't ever try their hand at meltalbending when it starts to gain popularity after the fall of Ozai.
Khleo grew up poor and had to resort to unsavory business ventures with the local sandbenders in order to keep food on the table. But since they were the sole bender that could calm down the nearby volcanoes whenever they acted up, they were always regarded as a hero within the community.
Eventually, the Fire Nation finds a way to complicate Khleo's existence and they have to flee their home. First, they cross the mountain range to Chameleon Bay, where they meet the waterbender Kipling, who they easily bond with. Khleo and Kip travel together for some time until they run into Jet and his crew. Jet's lifestyle appeals to Khleo, who was tired of roughing it. But Kip takes one look at Jet and knows that he's bad news. She and Khleo part ways.
Like most of the kids in Jet's crew, Khleo blinded themself to his activities in order to survive and stay connected to a family group. But when his actions become too hard for them to go along with, they abandon the Freedom Fighters and go to go look for work elsewhere.
Khleo had set their sights on Omashu, where they believed they could earn an honest living and still practice their bending without the eyes of the Fire Nation bearing down on them. The journey was tough and Khleo had a few brushes with death, but they made it to Omashu. There they were immediately hired by a cabbage vendor who struggled in the past with keeping his wares in one piece. Khleo guarded his cabbage stand for all but a week before they were noticed by some Omashu academy trainers. They offered Khleo a job as an instructor in multiple earthbending forms. Surprised, but very willing, Khleo accepted. Eventually, Khleo was inducted into the Order of the White Lotus.
Years later, Khleo reunites with a very emotionally scarred Kipling. She stays with them until the capture of King Bumi, after which they quickly leave the city so that they can carry out the will of the White Lotus in hopes to undermine the Fire Nation's plan to conquer the Earth Kingdom on the day of Sozin's Comet 2.0.
***
Ozy ~ The Avatar Firebender/Airbender hybrid | firebending, airbending
Ozy's kind of special. He has an affinity for two elements.
He was born in the Fire Nation in a very, very small village on the coast of Crescent Island. When Ozy's parents noticed that their child was something of a prodigy, they brought him straight to the Fire Sages.
Now, there was a split among the sages. Some were loyal to Lord Ozai while others were secretly members of the Order of the White Lotus. One of the members recognized Ozy's affinity for airbending very early on and did everything they could to protect him.
Without being able to say goodbye to his parents or getting an explanation for what was happening, Ozy was sent to the Western Air Temple (you know, the cool upsidedown one) where he learned airbending with the help of older White Lotus members as well as spiritual experts like Guru Pathik (the same guru who taught Aang how to navigate the Avatar State.)
As Ozy became more and more enlightened, he came to believe that his gift was not a rare one. When he was not actively practicing the rudimentary components of bending, he was meditating on the factors that led the majority of people to believe that the ability to bend was inherited based on the ethnic and cultural group into which they were born. He thought that while this was true to some degree, additional affinities could be unlocked through the forgotten teachings of the Air Nomads.
To test his theory, Ozy went on a very dangerous journey to the Library in the Si Wong Desert, where he met and became very bonded to Uncle Iroh. Thankfully, Iroh and Ozy managed to not get eaten by the Library's spiritual patron. Later, Ozy declined Iroh's invitation to the Order of the White Lotus, instead choosing to retire to the Northern Air Temple. Thre he ended up assisting the mechanists with the construction of the flight technology (part of which had already been stolen and weaponized by the Fire Nation.) Ozy never left the Northern Air Temple to help in the fight against Ozai. Instead, he remained and became the first of the Air Acolytes, from which grows a community that later founded Air Temple Island and discovered the next child born into the Avatar Cycle - Korra of the Water Tribe.
***
Sun Bai ~ Airbender | proficient in airbending. Technically.
Bai, unfortunately, did not discover that he was an airbender until he was well into his twenties. The only way he unlocked his affinity for bending was through a traumatic event, the effects of which he managed to suppress for several years. It wasn't until Bai found himself in another flight or fight situation that he spontaneously called upon his connection to the air element. (Turns out Ozy was kind of right!)
Once Bai realized what he was made of, he made it a point to gather as much knowledge on the subject as he could. Everything that he came to understand about bending was self-taught. Meditation came more naturally to him, but even that required additional training, discipline, and theory to fully master. (He was basically the opposite of Avatar Korra, who picked up on the manual technique of airbending quite easily, but struggled with its spiritual component.)
Bai didn't really play a role in the fight against Lord Ozai. He didn't run into any of the Trio or Team Avatar. His journey didn't really start until after the war. At which point he meets General Adrenaline, and then later, Sascha of the Water Tribe.
General Rosario Adrenaline ~ Firebender | firebending, master in lightning redirection
Like Ozy, Adrenaline was another firebending prodigy. (In fact, it was Adrenaline who worked very closely with Princess Azula to hone her lightning redirection technique.) Eventually, Nali's skills were exploited to the fullest in the Fire Nation's military campaign, but long before that, firebending for her was a means to perform and entertain the masses.
Adrenaline grew up in the same circus troupe as Ty Lee! They had been best friends since childhood and ended up escaping together.
While Princess Azula always favored Ty Lee and Mei over Nali as bodyguards, she often went to Nali for "companionship." Azula kept her relationship with Nali very private. It lasted well into Azula's teenage years and got pretty serious. Though neither of them considered themselves in love with the other (just due to the fact that there was so much of a strain on them thanks to social hierarchy, and Azula being Azula) Nali developed a very deep, unhealthy loyalty to Azula, that in the end, resulted in her banishment from protecting the royal family.
After she was banished, Nali linked up with Zuko, who wasn't really all that happy about it, but Iroh steps in and gives the wise compassionate uncle lecture. Zuko folds and Nali becomes one his crew!
Nali and Azula continue to pursue their relationship. And now that it started to hinge on whenever Azula came around to fuck with Zuko's head, you can imagine how even more unhealthy and eventually toxic it became. Nali was torn between her loyalty to Azula versus her loyalty to Zuko. And Azula... didn't really care. It was a mess. Didn't end pretty.
Only after Azula was imprisoned by her brother did Nali finally wipe her hands completely clean of the Fire Nation's royal family. Not really caring what was happening in the rest of the world, she stumbled around from territory to territory, drinking, gambling, and taking up muscle for hire gigs to keep herself afloat. Until she meets and unexpectedly bonds with a very lazy monk, who needed an escort through the Serpent's Pass.
***
Sascha ~ Nonbender | weapons specialist - firearms and projectiles
Solo ~ Waterbender | Southern-style waterbending, bloodbending
Sascha and Solo were both students of Hama. Nuff said.
Although the twins soaked up much of Hama's ruthless, yet practical attitude towards survival, they just didn't inherit her very deep, eternal loathing for the Fire Nation.
They also realized that she was pretty messed up.
When Sascha and Solo were of age, they made a clean break from Hama and decided to open up a business in one of the towns along the mountainside.
Having grown up in the Fire Nation colonies, Sascha and Solo were very used to hiding their connection to their Water Tribe heritage. They blended in well and opened their garment and optics shop. It was a strange combination, but they managed to stake their claim in the community.
However, the two of them were still very clear enemies of the Fire Nation. They rebelled by getting the information out to other Water Tribe refugees living in hiding. Solo taught bloodbending in his self defense classes (which was much easier for him to pull off rather than traditional waterbending because it required less physical labor and thus did not put as much of a strain on his body.)
Meanwhile, Sascha would show Water Tribe nonbenders how to assemble firearms, which at the time, were considered still very new and dangerous technology.
Solo was happy with their life, but Sascha grew bored and restless. She wanted an adventure.
Then one day a very strange monk winds up wounded on her doorstep in the middle of the night. He's riddled with bullets - the kind of which only Fire Nation militia and Sascha herself would know how to remove and treat the damage they could cause...
***
And a treat for those that made it this far! 😜
Me!!! A water-airbender hybrid. And you're damn right I would have some hair loopies!

oKAY BUT AVATAR FROZEN AU (ft. Zukka)
I was listening to Frozen on Broadway in the shower and it literally won’t leave my head y’ALL (sorry this is long, but I didn’t know how to do the read more thing because I suck so if anyone knows how, please lemme know!)
Katara: Elsa
Sokka: Anna
Zuko: Kristoff
Aang: Olaf
Azula: Hans
Druk: Sven
The Trolls Are: Iroh, Toph, Suki and Kyoshi Warriors, Mai, Ty Lee, Jet and the Freedom Fighters, maybe Yue idk yet
(Cabbage Man is Oaken)
Okay, so I know Sokka is the older sibling and Katara has Anna’s trust, but Katara is the last Waterbender in the SWT so
idk I’m still working it out since as soon as I got out of the shower I started typing this, but I think Katara and Sokka were a family ya know with Hakoda and Kya and Katara had her bending but the Fire Nation was still like iffy so they didn’t publicize it
Sokka thought it was SO COOL and always wanted to play with her powers ya know? They probably created Aang together, not sure about that yet anyways
Katara hits Sokka with her powers (ice maybe?) on accident and he’s dying, they go to “the trolls” but what imma call White Lotus and Yue is there or she was but had to give herself to the moon, but the moon spirit saves Sokka, has white strip in his hair like Anna, they wipe his memories of Katara’s bending
Katara is sad and scared and terrified so she shuts herself in her room and will not go penguin sledding or fishing or anything with Sokka and now Sokka is sad
Hakoda and Kya are eventually like Katara needs to learn how to control it or just rid of her powers, let’s go to the NWT and see if there is a good chi blocker or a master for Katara to learn from
they die on the ship, probably Fire Nation
(also, the war is still technically going on but also not? Not as intensely as it was in the show, but like, it’s there)
I’m not sure what to do about the chief stuff, so we’ll ignore that for now
It is Sokka or Katara’s coronation, Sokka is excited because he can leave their palace and Katara is not excited because she still doesn’t know how to bend or control it
Sokka runs into Azula and now let’s talk about the Fire Nation for a second
Ozai is still ruling, Ursa is gone, Zuko was banished and Iroh went with him
Ozai did burn Zuko’s face, probably for the same reason, so Iroh took Zuko and they went to the Earth Kingdom and met up with other people who had been hurt by the Fire Nation and they became a family and Zuko eventually leaves and finds an egg and it’s Druk! They become besties but Zuko leaves kind of for the same reasons as in Zuko Alone
Ozai is pretty pissed at the Water Tribes because they’re thriving or something and wants to rule them so he’s like “Azula, go hit on one of the siblings and make them love you and then marry them and I can- I mean, you can control the SWT and NWT”
and she’s like “dope I shall bring destruction onto their land eventually” because poor girl is getting manipulated:(
So, Azula and Sokka run into each other, Azula is a terrible flirt but so is Sokka and they bond over how terrible they both are at human interaction and Sokka is like “yeah after I turned ten, they never let me leave the castle so I have zero friends”
and Azula is mentally like wait I have no friends too:(... but is like “yeah I feel, I’m only the Fire Nation Princess, but it’s a boys only club, ya know? So no one takes me seriously”
and Sokka is like “you... I like you...” and definitely starts crushing and asks her to do an activity and yada yada yada
someone gets crowned, idk who yet
Azula and Sokka spend more time together and Azula is like “wow he is so starved for affection that if I asked him to marry me he’d probably say yes Father what kind of mission is this this is so easy”
so she tries it out and he’s like “SURE” and they tell Katara and she’s just not having it
“Sokka! The Fire Nation killed our parents!”
“Yeah, five years ago--” (or more, idk timeline yet) “--besides, this would be good treaty-wise and politically, ya know?” (so I guess this means Katara would become chief? Idk how that happens but we’ll figure it out)
and Katara is just “... SOKKA you just met this girl. Also, she’s Fire Nation!”
and he’s like “well you aren’t in charge on me so imma do whatever I want”
and Katara is like ahhhhh and he ends up pulling a glove off and she waterbends and everyone is like hbfvrvunyuibtuy wHAT
and Azula is like “ooh so there really is still a waterbender left in the SWT...”
Katara runs away and accidentally freezes everywhere she goes (for purposes of plot convenience, she goes to the Earth Kingdom without knowing it and freezes that too I guess? She’s pretty powerful, y’all
and Sokka is like “I gotta go after her!”
and Azula is mentally lie death mission, that gets him out of the way “sURE! I’ll stay here:)”
so Sokka goes and runs into Zuko and Druk
“Dragons are better than people, Druk, don’t you think that’s right?”
and he sees Sokka struggling to paddle a boat or something, again, don’t have land and stuff figured out here yet
Sokka basically annoys him into helping him
(and Zuko won’t admit it, but he kinda liked Sokka’s vibe and was like I haven’t spoken to a human person in years is it selfish to want this? He’s not disgusted at my scar...”)
Zuko does not tell Sokka that he is a fire bender, he mentions he used to live in the Fire Nation, though
Katara makes maybe not an elaborate ice castle, but she is like “LET IT GOOOOOOO” when she finds open land and just makes it so pretty and guys imagine Katara in an Inuit-style Elsa dress? Wouldn’t that be the most gorgeous thing??
Maybe she misses home so she remakes her village out of ice, maybe if she’s lonely (because Katara really hates being alone but she’ll do it for the good of her people) she’ll make ice sculptures of people from the village like her mom and dad and Sokka
also ya know what? No, I don’t want Katara to be completely alone. She finds Momo trying to hide from the cold and takes him in so it is Katara and Momo
Sokka and Zuko are riding Druk, but he’s tired so they aren’t super high, and Sokka is explaining what happened to Zuko and Zuko starts laughing because “you planned on marrying someone you just met? From the Fire Nation?”
“You’re from the Fire Nation!”
“yeah, it sucks. Why do you think I left? But seriously? That’s the funniest thing I’ve heard in three years!” (because I just decided it has been three years of him alone)
and Sokka doesn’t mention that it’s Azula yet because Zuko was already laughing at him but wait Zuko has a really cute and precious laugh--
they talk a bit and Sokka kind of mentions the strip in his hair and how it happened because he got pneumonia as a child and almost died but the moon spirit saved his lifeand Zuko doesn’t know how the frick to respond so he just “... that’s rough, buddy”
Actually, imma take back something I said earlier, they don’t make Aang, her unleashing her powers shakes the earth or water or something and the iceberg pops up and Zuko and Sokka find it and Sokka is like “Imma touch it”
and Zuko goes “wait no don’t touch i-- you touched it” and Aang pops out and is like “HELLO!”
and they’re like who the frick are you?
and Aang is like “I’m the Avatar, Aang”
and Zuko and Sokka just :0
or maybe Katara and Sokka like created him as a kid or like believed he would come back to save them and that kind of like manifested into what happened? Idk but somehow, and maybe more plot convenience, he knows who Katara is, maybe the monks told him she’d be his waterbending master before he got trapped?
“Katara? you’re looking for her? I’m looking for her too! She’s the most powerful waterbender in the world and I need to learn how to waterbend!”
“Woah cool! You should join us!” says Sokka
and Zuko facepalms because “sOKKA again with the people you just met!”
and Sokka is like “I just met you”
“Fair point”
“besides, you guys are some of the first people I’ve talked to in like 5-8 years!”
and Zuko and Aang get kind of quiet because wow now that Sokka mentions in, that’s super true for him, but also true for the both of them... they’re all lonely
so Aang is like “okay let’s find Katara!” and they talk and stuff on the way and Aang mentions being excited to visit the Fire Nation and see Kuzon and all of his airbender friends and Zuko and Sokka just ??? then it hits them that oh boy he’s been in that iceberg for a long time--
so Zuko tells him and Aang is big sad and goes into the Avatar State or something and idk imma come back to this
plus also more friendship bonding happens and more feelings between Zuko and Sokka happen
they eventually reach Katara and they’re all like wow this is gorgeous
and Aang is about to walk in and stuff and Zuko stops him “maybe Sokka should go first? Since she’s his sister?”
Sokka goes into the village, finds the one that looks like their house / hut / palace, sees Katara and they both start crying and hug each other and Katara goes “I’ve missed you so much”
and Sokka is like “why did you leave? Please come back, I’ll help protect you from the Fire Nation! No one will get to you!”
and Katara is like “that’s not what I’m worried about” and her eyes flicker to the white strand in Sokka’s hair. “I don’t know how to control it and I don’t have a teacher and I’m dangerous.”
“I have some friends who can help you find a teacher! Aang and Zuko!”
Aang hears his name so he runs out and is like “Hi, I’m Aang, the avatar, want a hug? You look sad”
and Katara is like this boy is a sweetie and must be protected at all costs so no hug from em because I hurt those I love:(
and then Aang says “The monks told me about you! It was like a hundred years ago, but they told me Katara would be my waterbending teacher! You’re the most powerful waterbender in the world!”
and she laughs and almost believes him but “No, no I can’t control it. What if I hurt people?”
And Aang is like “we can learn together then!”
and Sokka and Katara talk more, Sokka is like “please come back, we’ll protect you from the Fire Nation and help you find a teacher I need you I miss you” and Katara wants to so badly
but she says no
they talk and Sokka mentions that basically everywhere is frozen and Katara is just ???? and Sokka is like “please, you can unfreeze it and people will see you aren’t a threat!”
and Katara flips out, they argue a bit, she hits him in the heart on accident and screams so Zuko and Aang (who left) run out and see Sokka on the ground and Katara hyperventilating and Zuko helps Sokka up and kind of has to hold him up for a couple minutes and he begs Katara to come with them because she’s his baby sister and he’ll protect her and she’s crying and her hand instinctively touches her mother’s necklace and she tells him no and that if they won’t leave, she’ll make them leave and then Aang and Zuko start begging her too because Zuko just met her but he knows that she’ll play a huge role in stopping the war and that she is incredibly powerful (and also she’s so kind when she isn’t accidentally being dangerous, he thinks-- based off of the stories Sokka had told him and the look on her face after she struck Sokka
Sokka says no and Aang and Zuko stand firm beside him so Katara makes a giant sky bison named Appa or something who chases them out of the village and they all end up falling into the freaking cold water and Sokka helps pull Aang and Zuko out since he’s the best swimmer and we love Zuko but he’s kind of a terrible swimmer
and Zuko goes “thank yo-- what’s with your hair?”
“My hair? We just gout out of the ocean, you should see your hair”
And Aang pipes up with “no, your hair is white”
“Wait it’s what? Does it look bad?”
“... no?” - Zuko
Sokka goes “you hesitated you think it’s baddddd”
and Zuko says “no, no, not like that... it’s because your sister struck you, isn’t it?”
and Sokka thinks and realization kind of dawns on him “I never had pneumonia...” and it hits him and he groans “that’s why she stopped playing with me! We need to go back, I need to talk to her--”
and he falls as he tries to get up
Aang and Zuko share a look and are like “yeah, no, you need help or you’ll actually die again”
Zuko suddenly is like “wait? the moon spirit saved you that one time, right? maybe She can do it again! Come on! I have some friends who can help you!”
while all of that is happening, Azula is planning on assassinating Katara and the people of the SWT and visitors from the rest of the world are freezing so she’s like “I guess I’ll go stop her since she must have killed my fiance”
some others go with her and they find where Katara is hiding out and Azula kills Appa:( and faces Katara with her people
Katara easily get the others out of the way and then it’s her and Azula
“I don’t want to hurt you!” Katara says
Azula puts her hands down and says “I don’t want to either. Just come with us, fox the weather, and we can help you”
“Why should I trust you? Your nation has wanted to kill me for years!”
“mmm fair point”
they fight a bit, Katara ends up getting knocked out and they take her back and lock her up
going back to the trio and Druk, they’re going to the little corner of the Earth Kingdom where the White Lotus is and Sokka’s hair is getting progressively more white and he’s getting more cold and Zuko is starting to panic so he says “I’m going to show you something, but you have to promise not to freak out”
so Sokka nods and Aang is chill with it because he doesn’t hate firebenders like the rest of the world
so Zuko creates a fire and holds it close to Sokka who does indeed freak out and crawls to the other side of the dragon
and Aang is like “wow! That’s so pretty! Can you teach me that? I need a firebending teach too! It was going ti be Kuzon but...”
and Zuko goes to Sokka again and says “I didn’t want you to hate me. I’m not evil or anything like Ozai. You’re freezing, please, let me help you warm up.”
and Sokka is silent then says “I trust you” and Zuko kind of pulls him in and wraps his arms around Sokka to warm him up and Aang looks left out so Sokka tells him to join
and all three are like “wow. This is the most human contact I’ve had in years... it’s nice”
somewhere here I think would be a good time for Sokka to ask about Zuko’s scar and so Zuko tells the story and Sokka and Aang are pissed and ready to kill but before Sokka and piece together that Azula is his sister, they arrive
Zuko is like “hello, Zuko here! But you guys probably knew that, or at least Toph will-- oof!” because Toph runs at him and gives him a super hard hug and suddenly the White Lotus is surrounding him and are like “how are you?” “where’ve you been?” “we missed you!” etc, etc
and Zuko is like “haha I missed you guys too but um, I’m actually here for something else... he helps Aang and Sokka off of Druk and Toph immediately feels the change in their heart rates when Zuko helps Sokka and Sokka leans against Zuko so she goes “you got a boyfriend!”
cue matching looks of horror on the two’s faces and suddenly everyone is interrogating both of them and Zuko is like y’all!!! He needs help! Where’s Iroh?
he is ignored:/
“Zuko looks grumpy and he acts grumpy but really he’s a sweetheart and mushy!” says Ty Lee
“make sure you give him lots of hugs and attention because he will not tell you when he wants it” Suki says
and Zuko’s whole face is red and it’s the funniest thing Sokka has seen and he’s so invested in all of these people and their stories and wants to stay forever but then remembers Katara and Zuko finally is like “IROH!”
Iroh comes and sees Sokka and he’s like welcome back
and like at this point Sokka can barely stand and Zuko is supporting all his weight
and Zuko is like “you helped him when he was younger, please help him now!”
and Iroh is sad “there is nothing I can do, nephew. The moon spirit is generous, but to touch the same thing twice... an act of true love is the only way to fix this”
and Zuko gets sad and says “your fiance”
and Sokka kind of mutters “... yeah... my fiance” because now after spending a week minimum a month max with Zuko, Aang, and Druk, he definitely has feelings for Zuko but he’s confused
and everyone else gets sad and Toph is confused because she can feel their heart rates
but Zuko sucks it up and helps Sokka back onto Druk and they set back for the SWT and all Sokka is thinking is for Katara for Katara for Katara for Katara... was she right? Maybe I was too fast with Azula... but we connected and she wanted to talk to me and... for Katara for Katara...
so Katara is locked up and Azula is like “this would have been fine if you did not put up a struggle. If you surrendered peacefully we would not have to resort to this”
and then leaves because she hears that Sokka is back and Katara is like “I’m a monster, but so is Azula and I need to find Sokka and apologize and fix everything I’ve done, even if I die” so she escapes because Katara is cool like that
Zuko and Azula see each other and it’s awkward, but she sees Sokka in his arms and she realizes that he didn’t die and her idiot brother helped him they make eye contact and Zuko can kind of tell what her plan is in her eyes but Azula feigns worry for Sokka and grabs him from Zuko’s arms before he can stop her and Sokka is like “Azula...” and she’s pretending and stuff and then she sees Aang and her eyes widen at his tattoos and Zuko shoves Aang behind him and says “You aren’t taking the avatar to Father. Just save Sokka, he doesn’t have much time left”
her eyes linger on Aang with interest but she turns and leaves and sets Sokka down in a room and Sokka explains it and tries kissing her but she just laughs and is like “oh, if only there was someone out there who loved you” and in his hazy and near death mind, Sokka understands it all because he may be naive, but he’s clever
“You’re Zuko’s sister”
“I am. You really were so trusting and naive to fall in love with the first person you see.”
“I’m sorry”
“What?”
“Zuko told me about your father... I’m sorry he’s manipulating you.”
and Azula shrieks, lights her hands on fire and is just barely able to stop herself from burning him, makes sure the fire in the room dies, mentions killing Katara and Zuko and capturing Aang, then locks Sokka in the room
and Sokka is crying because he should have listened to Katara and he just wants her to be okay and he can barely move, he can’t do anything to protect her from problems he caused and Aang is going to get hurt and he misses Zuko
and Zuko misses Sokka and Aang is like “okay, something’s up”
Zuko tells him about how Azula is his sister and he doesn’t trust her and that he thinks he loves Sokka, or has feelings for him at least
Aang goes “do you think Azula really loves Sokka?”
“... no”
“then we need to turn around. Druk!”
Azula tells everyone Sokka died because of Katara and that they nee to kill her and his last words were marriage vows
the door handle rattles and Aang comes in and Sokka shakes his head and he’s crying and says “you need to get out of here, she’s gonna kill you”
and Aang is shaking his head and saying “no, don’t worry! Zuko is here and he’s on his way! It’s storming really bad outside right now and he’s fighting off some guards, but he came back for you” and Aang helps Sokka up and out of the room but guards see them and Aang stays behind to fight them
Katara stumbled upon Azula as she tries escaping and they start fighting, kind of like the Agni Kai fight and it’s really epic and cool and stuff and then Azula says something like “stop fooling around and wasting everyone’s time. I am now the ruler of the SWT and I am ordering you to stand down!”
and Katara goes “ruler... where is Sokka?”
“Sokka? Oh, he returned weak and cold. His heart was frozen. Your brother is dead because of you”
and Katara falls to her knees and cries and Azula is like “ha weakness time to kill”
and Sokka sees Zuko and he’s “running” to him but then sees Katara and Azula about to kill her and jumps in front of her despite Zuko’s pleas and Sokka is frozen and when Katara looks up and sees what happened, she loses control and freezes Azula like she did in the Agni Kai and the storm dies down and Zuko and Aang run to her and she’s clinging to Sokka and crying and so is Zuko and then sibling love and he comes back
Zuko is like “love. It doesn’t have to be a kiss.”
and they hug and Sokka is back to his normal self except his hair is still white maybe, but he introduces Katara to Zuko and Aang formally and they all hug and then the White Lotus comes and Toph and Suki and Mai and Jet are all sad because they missed the fight but are happy that Sokka’s okay and Azula is still kind of there and idk what they do with her, I’ll come back to that, actually, maybe Azula manages to escape
but so it would end kind of ambiguously because Ozai is still there and the SWT is untrusting of Katara still so they have to flee maybe and they return to the White Lotus hide out and Zuko and Sokka have a moment where they are like “hey I think I like you”
then Sokka and Katara have a great sibling moment
and that’s how it ends
okay wow that was long and took an hour and a half to type but y’all this would NOT leave my head!!!! I feel like this doesn’t have enough Katara in it, so know that if I actually made this a thing, there would be a lot more Katara and more sibling moments and Zuko and Aang and White Lotus and stuff but uhhh yeah idk if this has been done before but it was living in my mind rent free (p.s. Mai and Ty Lee do have a history with Azula in this AU and there would be an Azula redemption at some point)
if anyone has any thoughts or feelings or anything to add, please do:) I wasn’t sure if I should make Sokka or Katara Elsa, but I went with Katara because she had the powers and Zukka happening worked better with Sokka as Anna, idk

yuekitara (yue x suki x katara) + boardgames?
hello anon! unfortunately I don't ship katara in this because I personally don't like shipping people with more than one sibling (sokka got there first) so this is more yueki + platonic katara and also boardgames + video games because I read the prompt wrong when I woke up and got carried away.
Suki and Yue met at Sokka's DND game when they were in high school. They didn't really know what DND was but they got bullied into coming and now Sokka takes credit for setting them up.
He deserves to take credit after the hell he went through rearranging his campaign just so their characters could flirt.
more under the cut!
Yue loves playing co-op games (mysterium, pandemic) where everyone can win. Suki likes playing individual games (ticket to ride, monopoly) where she can win. Katara likes playing Mafia-esque games (werewords, bang) where someone gets to lie.
Yue is actually a good liar? Suki can always tell when she's lying but refuses to tell anyone, no matter how much Aang begs.
Yue also likes playing the game master roles, but she has to fight Sokka for it a lot.
Suki cheats but only in very subtle ways. Like she won't technically do anything wrong, you can't call her out on it, but it's definitely not honest. It drives Katara (and only Katara) mad
Katara once didn't speak to Suki for an entire party after she stole a set of properties in monopoly deal
Yue has a twitch channel. She plays a lot of stardew valley
Their most successful twitch stream was Suki and Yue playing Dream Daddy.
They have girls night playing an online game (I don't know which one) along with Mai, Ty Lee, Azula and Toph. Toph just went to Azula's house - Azula was the eyes, but Toph was the brain.
Suki and Yue thought they were really good at guessing games (like codewords, charades, pictionary) up until they played against Sokka and Katara. There is no match for the psychic sibling link.
Also every gaang party winds up with them playing jackbox games. Surprisingly, it's Yue who throws up the really vulgar (and hilarious) answers. The only votes Katara gets are on answers she put up in a panic. Poor thing cannot be funny on purpose
Suki and Yue went on a lot of Pokemon Go dates when that was popular. Suki is Team Valour. Yue is Team Mystic.

My Daemons!Verse series master-post as of April 2020
I’ve noticed that Real Life, thanks to being a part of my Zukka Week submissions, have gained quite a lot of traction and as I’ve been planning on getting back to working on the series it’s a part of soon, I figured I’d update and link all of my fics from this series here if you’re up for some mini-binge-reading during social distancing :)
Bit of background for newcomers
The universe borrows the lore and element of daemons from Philip Pullman’s series His Dark Materials, where a person’s soul manifests outside their body as an animal with a name, capable of independent thought, speech, and intelligence. During youth the animal can shape-shift into different forms but as the child grows up it “settles” into a species representative of a part of the human’s character and personality.
The Main Series
This is strictly canon-compliant, it consists of character studies and backstories in relations to their relationship with their daemon, and rewrites of some specific episodes from the series in a way that is enhanced and expanded in the context of daemons (especially to reveal more nuanced layers about a character’s personality or relationship with others in the story) but does not disrupt the main plot arc, which remains intact and fully canonical.
Birds: Word count 10k, chapter count 5, complete. This both serves as a character study of Zuko from his infancy to the early days of his banishment (with an epilogue taking place in the comic sequel The Search) and as an introductory worldbuilding to the whole universe. Featured are Azula, Ozai, Ursa, and Iroh and the introduction of their daemons and the exploration of their characters through the lens of this AU.
Yesterday: Word count 3.7k, chapter count 1, complete. The companion piece to Birds that explores Sokka and his daemon’s childhood in a similar way through snippets, and featuring Katara, Hakoda, and Kya, Gran-Gran, and Bato as the side explorations.
Ready, Aim, Fire: Word count 15k, chapter count 5, complete. Rewrite of 5 full episodes in the canon series’s first season, altering details to include and build on the element of daemons but in a way that leaves the main plot arc intact. Introduced are the daemons of Suki, the freedom fighters, Yue, and other minor characters. Borrows the lore of Raava from LOK - the shared daemon form of all avatars reincarnate, including Aang, who doesn’t have an external form.
Rise Up: Word count 7.3k/?, chapter count 3/5, in-progress. Written from Toph’s central point of view and as character focus, starts from her childhood in an exploration of coping with blindness in the context of the universe, and exploring her self-acceptance and independence through her relationship with her daemon, then shifts onto canonical rewrites of key Toph-central points throughout the canon series timeline. On-hold since November 2019, but I'm returning to finish it soon.
Upcoming fics I have planned after Rise Up is complete: Nothing Left to Say: Jet-centric character study in the style of Birds and Yesterday. On Top of the World: Canonical re-write of episodes from mid-season 2 through mid-season 3 in the canon series, in the style of Ready, Aim, Fire. Roots: Zuko-centric sequel to Birds, detailing a canon-compliant extension of Zuko’s return to the Fire nation in the first half of season 3. I do have a lot more fully mapped out but this is all I'm going to reveal without getting too far ahead of myself! But I plan on building a full universe and tackling all of the canon material with this new twist so rest assured a lot more is coming.
The Companion Series
This is more non-canon self-indulgent bullshit because I cannot live without writing about my OTP Zuko/Sokka. I took it out of the main series because I wanted that one to remain completely canon-compliant, but I wrote the companion pieces in a way that doesn’t explicitly contradict any events in that either. As a result, these are a lot less action and a lot more detailed scenery construction of character relationships and interactions.
Look How Far We’ve Come: Word count 2.8k, chapter count 1, complete. Exploiting that sweet timeline post-boiling rock and pre-saving the entire world where Zuko and Sokka definitely spent bonding, introducing Zuko to Sokka’s daemon, more worldbuilding, and an elaboration on idea that touching another human’s daemon consensually is an act of great intimacy, and touching them non-consensually is the worst violation you can commit on another person.
Real Life: Word count 4.9k, chapter count 1, complete (for now). This is more explicitly Zukka, and mirrors the previous pic in a lot of interactions. This is directly post-canon and the main Gaang from the series feature briefly, as well as Mai and Ty Lee, and the resolution of Zuko and Mai’s canon relationship to make way for some unambiguous Zukka goodness. I said “for now” because I technically have another chapter planned as I do a lot of my Zukka Week entries but on my prioritised list of stuff to write it’s pretty low down at the moment.
Well here it is guys, the whole universe as of now and possibly my proudest creation so far! I do have lots of ideas on where to take it next and I know I've taken a break but I'm coming back to it very soon. I hope this has cleared up the order for some of you who’s read a couple of these fics, and intrigued those of you who haven’t already. If you decide to check it out, I guess my main requests would be to start with Birds, and leave some comments either here or on Ao3 to let me know how you find them!

~ Fire Lord Zuko ~
I raised my arms high, letting my dual swords come together and form a hard wall above me as I grounded my feet in the dirt. Sokka jumped up high and crashed his sword against mine, I tensed, not letting up my hold as his weight weighted down my tired arms. I stood my ground and with a final grunt, managed to force Sokka to jump backward. With one smooth movement, I parted my swords and held them to my side into an offensive position. We were both panting and a sweaty mess, paring for the past hour or two now.
“You still gotta teach me that,” Sokka said with a grin as he pointed at my dual swords and began to straighten out. He was no longer in a fighting stance, and instead, Sokka’s shoulders relaxed as he started fanning himself. I smiled and swiftly placed my swords in the sheaths that were strapped along my bare back. I took a heavy breath, trying to pace my breathing. I was tired, more than just tired, as I stayed up a lot later than I had anticipated but still woke up early to train with Sokka.
Sokka plopped onto the ground, his back pressed against the dirt, as he looked up at the ceiling. “It’s been a while since we’ve duelled like that,” Sokka spoke lazily. I walked over to him, sitting beside him. He was right; we use to train together all the time with Aang, reminding me of the good old times. Sokka’s skills have improved, and we were neck-to-neck regarding swordsmanship. “I know, I still kicked your ass,” I said back sarcastically. Sokka snickered and gave me a toothy grin, “You know I let you win, I like making people feel good about themselves.” I laughed at Sokka; this guy is something else.
“I thought you guys were supposed to be training, not sun-bathing.”
We both turned to face the entrance, to see Katara standing at the doorway. Her hands were on her hips, and I took notice of how little she has changed over the years. She still wore her hair pulled back with braids, and continued wearing her Southern Water Tribe dress with tights underneath. The only thing that changed about Katara was her more mature facial features. “You came to train with us?’ Sokka asked as he rolled over on his belly. Katara shook her head, “I came to see if Yue was here.” As she quickly glanced over to me before shifting back to Sokka.
Sokka snorted and rolled onto his back again, “And you came to check here? This is the last place she would be.” I raised a brow, curious. Does she not like training? It would explain why she doesn’t warm herself; maybe she has never learned how to Firebend properly, controlling one’s body temperature is a difficult skill. “Does she not fight?” I asked. Sokka sat up straight and shook his head, “No actually, quite the opposite. She’s a fucking monster. Last time we fought she kicked our asses so hard I didn’t tease her for a month straight.” Sokka spoke with a bit of fear in his voice as a cold shiver ran up his back.
She can fight? I couldn't help but be a bit surprised; But if she could fight why did she not use her bending to warm herself up? Is she pretending that she can’t warm herself so I can do it? That brat… Sokka seemed to have noticed my confusion because he laughed, “She is strong, fast, and a quick thinker. Yue could take us all-on with her hands tied behind her back. BUT, she doesn’t fight unless it’s a life-death situation.”
“How did you get her to fight against you guys?”
“Master Pakku asked, and she's too nice to say no to an elder. But that was almost two years ago since we’ve last seen her bend.”
I couldn't help but be confused, why would a Waterbending Master care to see a Firebender? Before I could ask, Katara coughed loudly, “Well slackers; I'm going to go recheck her room. I have to talk to her.” Before I could thank Katara for inviting me last night for dinner, she left. Maybe it's better that way; she seemed upset last night, at who, who knows, but I don't want to get in the middle of it.
That was when my mind drifted back to Ying Yue. The more I heard about her, the more mysterious she was. Who was she? Around me, she was like a bundle of happiness and innocence, yet what Sokka just told me made her seem like a killing machine… She was different. Something about her made me want to get closer and closer, like what is up with that tattoo? It didn't look like a small piece at all. If only I pulled down the dress slightly…
“So…, how are you and Mai? Suki told me about the other day.” Sokka spoke, interrupting me from my train of thought. I groaned annoyed, and it was my turn to fall on the ground beside Sokka. I covered my face in pure annoyance as I clenched my jaw, why is everyone so interested in her? “I can’t stand her,” I spoke bitterly, for the first time in a while I just let the overflowing anger revolving her go. Sokka laughed, “Wow, big surprise. I wonder what gave that away, maybe the time she threw tea at your face, or maybe when you told her you would kick her out of the kingdom for the hundredth time this month.”
I let my hands slide up to my hair as I rubbed my head out of pure frustration. “I don’t hate her. At the day end of the day, I do care and hope for the best for her, just not with me.” Sokka huffed, knowing all too well what I meant with that statement. “Doesn’t help that we are technically engaged.” This time Sokka turned sharply towards me with bulging eyes, “I’m sorry, what?” I laughed at his expression, a face filled with conflicting emotions as he was not sure whether to congratulate me or cry.
“Not engaged, engaged. The council is looking for potential wives, and they think Mai is the best option.” I said, but the look on Sokka’s face told me he was not satisfied with my answer. “Mai has royal status, and we have a history. The only problem is that we can’t stand breathing the same air, let alone be in a room long enough to get married, that’s why I refuse to marry her. But regardless, I'm still engaged, just with no one.” Sokka let out a long breath, “I was going to kill you.” Sokka said as he took another deep breath. I raised a brow at him, “Why, you wanted to marry me?” I said mockingly. Sokka gave me a fake laugh before he crossed his arms, “Although we would make a great couple, I have Suki. But I wanted to make sure you weren’t just playing around with Yue.”
Within seconds I sat up straight and looked at Sokka, surprised by his blunt statement. “I see the way you two look at each other, and how you tease her. You guys might as well attach hearts to your eyes at how obvious you two are.” I could feel my mouth hang open, as I was unable to get a word out. This is it; he is going to kill me. Sokka grinned noticing my speechless stance. “Zuko, I have one question for you.” He paused and eyed me carefully, as he crossed his legs, “Do you like Yue?”
I could feel my cheeks slightly redden being asked such a point-blank question about my feelings. It was awkward, uncomfortable; I was not exactly an emotional guy. Sure, I liked teasing and being sarcastic, but this was new territory. Yet, something in me wanted to scream out yes to Sokka. I couldn't help but smile remembering the way Ying Yue’s eyes lit up whenever something excited or interested her, or whenever she was embarrassed she would smack my arm. I'm more emotionally invested in her than I thought… I never felt this strongly for Mai, and we were together for years.
Sokka smirked, evidently enjoying my crumbling composure. With a deep breath, I spoke, “I guess you could say I'm interested…” I carefully worded, unsure of whether or not Sokka was trying to lure me to my death. Sokka eyed me, giving a glance that he was not buying my ‘I’m interested’ plea. I felt cornered, not expecting us to be talking about this after we trained. With a huff I rubbed the back of my neck, “Fine, I do like her. But it’s not what it seems, sure I tease her, but I am not playing around with her. I like her, a lot.” I manage to blurt out, more than I had intended and found myself a blabbering mess. Look at me, a ruler of a nation yet a stupid five-second conversation about a girl has been stuttering and uttering nonsense.
The way Sokka was looking at me made it seem like I just asked him for her hand in marriage. However, to my utter surprise, Sokka didn't kill me.
Before I could even process what was happening Sokka gave me his hand, which I grasped. “Fire Lord Zuko, I give you my blessing. She seems to like you back too, trust me, she doesn’t let just anyone tease her like how you do.” I smiled and shook his hand, “Thanks man, I appreciate it. As Fire Lord, I promise that I'll treat her like a Queen.” Sokka grinned and patted my shoulder, “I bet you will, plus, if you ever hurt her, I will kill you.” I laughed as he leaned over and gave me a quick hug, “Make her happy.”
            I promise.
        ~ Ying Yue Jiang ~
I was utterly flustered at all the ruckus going on in my bedroom, being that my bedroom was never the hub for gatherings such as these. Toph laid along my bed with her hands behind her head, still wearing her nightwear. Suki, on the other hand, laid along the end of my bed on her tummy as she rested on her elbows. They were grinning madly as I grabbed an elastic and pulled my hair up into a loose bun. “You’re finally awake sleepy head,” Toph said. I rubbed my eyes as I looked outside and took note that the sun was shining brightly.
“What time is it?” I asked, completely stunned. Did I oversleep? I may not be a morning person, but I was not one to sleep in either. Toph snorted, “It's almost lunchtime!” Toph shouted. My eyes widen, I overslept. I rubbed my face again trying to regain my composure. “What time did you go to bed?” Suki asked.
“Zuko and I stayed out longer then I realized...” I grumbled as I yawned loudly once again, still trying to awaken fully. I could feel the bed shift suddenly, as Toph sat upwards, “You and Zuko?” Toph yelled out, while Suki looked at me like I had three heads. At that moment I realized, I messed up. I was totally not supposed to say that. “N-not like that. We went out with Aang and Katara last night, remember?” Hoping they would buy my lame excuse, however, I should've known better.
Toph let out a sarcastic laugh, “We ain’t stupid Princess.” I twiddled with my fingers, realizing that I slipped up. “So you two stayed up all night, together, alone?” Suki asked; every word she said hinting at a darker and more scandalous idea. I flushed and placed my hands against my cheeks, “No, no, no! It wasn’t like that.” I said, giving up. “We went out to see the Southern lights last night, and then we went to bed.” Suki’s mouth opened, and before she could comment I rushed in, “In separate beds!”
Suki grinned, knowing that both her and Toph were cornering me. “So. You two went out... to see the lights? And then went to bed, in separate beds, and that’s it?” Suki said, not entirely believing me. I smiled and nodded, remembering the events of yesterday. It was completely spontaneous. The last thing I would thought was Zuko and me sneaking off in the middle of the night to see the lights. I couldn't help but smile to myself, remembering how we snuggled under the lights, how warm I was in his arms…
The smile on my face must have grown because I could hear Toph snickering, “She’s smiling like an idiot isn’t she?” Toph asked. Suki giggled, “You know it. So, nothing else happened between you two?” Suki pressed on. I shook my head, “Nothing happened during that time. We just looked at the sky.” I said defensively. “That time, so something has happened between you two other times?” Suki spoke. Toph laughed, “Her heartbeat is going crazy, she's hiding something.” I crossed my arms and pouted.
“I wasn’t hiding anything…I just didn’t have time to tell you guys…” I mumbled, which was true. The past few days have been hectic, and although Zuko came to relax, we still had duties. Suki’s face lit up at the new found information, “Spill it!”
“And don’t lie or leave anything out, my detective skills are fully activated,” Toph said.
I threw my arms up in the air in defeat; these guys were never going to let this go unless I told them everything. “Nothing crazy happened…I just awkwardly thought he was going to kiss me twice and he felt up my tattoo.” I spoke, making sure I mumbled the last part. However, my hopes of quickly saying the last part so it would go unnoticed failed as Suki and Toph literally jumped up in the bed and were sitting up straight with their mouths dropped and eyes wide open. “If you don’t go into details this instant I swear I'll bury you under whatever dirt I can find in this snowy mess and leave you there,” Toph shouted.
I whined and crossed my arms, beginning to retell them of all the moments I shared with Zuko. There was not much to tell, yet I found myself talking a lot longer then I had initially thought, I guess a lot more did happen then even I realized. Not once did the two interrupt as I told them about the hand holding, teasing, and face touching. When I finally finished, they were both sitting right in front of me, fully engaged, as we were huddled together. We look like children telling stories.
It was Suki who finally spoke up after I was finished. “So, I guess the real question here is, do you like Zuko?” I bit my lip as I awkwardly fiddled around with my fingers. The truth was, I was falling head over heels for Zuko. At first, I figured it was some stupid infatuation that would go away after a day, but instead, the feelings just intensified to something bigger. I wanted to spend time with him, find out more about him, and continue being with him. “You’re quiet; you like him don’t you?” Toph asked, but to my surprise, her tone was not her usual roughness but slightly soft.
I looked up at them both, nervously playing with my fingers, “I-I do…I mean, I don’t know. I'm a complete idiot when it comes to this stuff.” I huffed, completely distraught at these strange feelings. I was such a novice when it came to relationships; my only real relationship is with work for the past three years. Suki smiled and patted my shoulder, “I told you he was handsome.” I rolled my eyes, “And you failed to mention that he was incredibly charming and sweet."
Suki laughed and crossed her arms, “Well it sounds like to me that you two are falling for each other, and this is the first time I’ve ever seen him act like this before.” Toph nodded in agreeance, “He wasn’t even this nice to Mai.” That was when I was reminded, Mai. The few times she was brought up Zuko did not seem happy, was I right, was she an ex-lover of his? “Who is Mai?” I asked. Toph crossed her arms and shrugged, “His girlfriend a while back. But it’s over so don’t bother worrying about it, Princess.” I frowned, not convinced.
They may have been over with, but if people were still asking about her and she still lived at the kingdom, then she must be someone important. Suki seemed to notice my uncertainty because she spoke up, “She knew Zuko since childhood, she is an elite member of the Fire Nation because her father was a General. Unfortunately, her father tried to revolt against Zuko’s reign, and it resulted in their family being dismissed from the kingdom. But Zuko felt bad for them, so he let them live in the kingdom on the condition that Mai’s mother continues serving as one of the painters.”
I crossed my arms and dazed out; he was sweet… despite them no longer being together he still cared enough about her and her family. A loud knock interrupted my thoughts, and Toph shouted for them to enter. Katara opened the door and looked surprised to see us all snuggled up in our sleepwear on my bed, “What’s going on over here?” Katara asked, surprised to see all the girls here. “Princess is telling us about her love adventures with our royal pain in the ass,” Toph said with a yawn as she plopped back onto the bed.
Katara’s eyes widen, and she looked at me with a mixture of emotions, the same feelings that painted her face last night. I frowned, not wanting them to discuss such matters so openly since I have yet to learn about what triggered Katara last night. Before I could utter another word Suki cut me off, “You bet, and they almost kissed, twice.” Suki gushed, remembering the details. My eyes widen, and I smacked Suki’s arm, “And I saw you two sneak out last night.” Katara added in a low tone. “We weren’t sneaking around; we're adults,” I said annoyed.
Katara frowned and crossed her arms, “Yue, I don’t want to come in between you and Zuko. But be careful.” She spoke carefully. I sat up straighter as I wanted to understand what she was trying to imply. Was this what was upsetting her last night? “I don’t know what you mean…” I said slowly. Katara shook her head, “Zuko is Fire Lord. He can’t be caught in a romantic relationship with a Waterbender, nevermind someone without a royal status of some kind.” She spoke so matter-a-factly.
I frowned as I was trying to decipher what she was telling me. “But Zuko’s mom wasn’t royalty.” Argued Toph. Katara let out a long breath, “She may not have had royal status, but she was the granddaughter of the Avatar so she earned the respect that royals would usually have had.” Toph shrugged, “True enough, guess you’re out of luck Princess.” Before plopping back onto the bed. I was not so easily content with her response, “So, you want me just to ignore my feelings?” I asked, slightly annoyed. Katara huffed and shook her head once again, “I'm not telling you to ignore your feelings for him, but contain them, both of you. I don’t want you two to start something that can’t last.”
Suki frowned, seeming also dissatisfied with Katara’s opinion. “Sure Yue may not have royal status, but she does here. It may not be equal, but it's something.” Suki proposed. Katara shrugged, “I guess, but it doesn’t change the fact that she's a Waterbender.” I could feel my lips pucker up and my annoyance build within me, “What does my Waterbending have in regards to my relationship?” I asked. Katara’s eye twitched, and I could tell she was beginning to get annoyed with my inability to let it go, “Because Fire Lord can’t have the next heir to the throne be a Waterbender!” She said annoyed.
“We aren’t even dating, let alone planning for offspring!” I rebutted back. Katara rolled her eyes, “That’s the point. These are things that he has to think about, regardless of how new the relationship is.” I huffed, not pleased at all by her attitude, or this conversation as a whole. “Is this what was upsetting you last night and you had to talk about to me so badly? Is that why you brought up Mai, his ex-girlfriend, at dinner?” I asked angrily. Suki looked at both me and Katara, noticing that the argument was starting to escalate.
Toph looked utterly baffled, “Although you have a point Katara, bringing up Zuko’s ex during dinner, that’s low.” Katara threw her arms up into the air, “You know, I'm just trying to prevent a train wreck from happening. That’s it. So enjoy being Zuko’s plaything for the remainder of his time here because you two will never happen!” She shouted. With that, she turned on her heel and stormed out the room. I looked down at my lap, gripping the blankets tightly.
Plaything, is that all I am to Zuko? Suki reached over and gently touched my hand, “Yue, although I think Katara brought up some important things to think about, Zuko is not one to play with people’s feelings…” She started. Toph stood up and began walking towards the door, “Katara is calm until pushed. But unlike you two, I think Katara is right. Don’t start something that won’t last. Just enjoy the romance. Or…”
Toph stopped before opening the door, “Prove us both wrong. Make us eat our words and regret ever doubting you two. Be the couple that everyone gossips about. Be the couple that everyone wants to be. Prove to not just us, but the world wrong, and make sure they never doubt you two again.”
~ Katara ~
I stormed into my bedroom and shut the door roughly behind me. I messed up. I should have never said those things, the look on her face. I sat on the bed and held my face in my hands, but she does not get it. They can’t be together. My head shot upwards as Aang opened the bathroom door, worried. “Sweetie, was that you who slammed the door?” I nodded my head before drowning myself back into my thoughts.
Aang frowned and quickly rushed over to my side, kneeling before me. “What's wrong? You’ve been like this since last night. You haven’t spoken a word to me. Did I do something wrong?” Aang asked as he cupped my hands. I huffed and looked at Aang. “It’s not you. It’s Zuko and Yue.” I said.
Aang looked at me confused, “What about them?” he asked, not understanding what I was trying to get at. I groaned, “Did you not see them during dinner last night? The way he touched her shoulders and neck or the way she teased him and looked at him? That is the look of lovers, the look we give to each other!” I said upset. Aang stood up crossed his arms, “I'm sorry, I don’t get your point. Shouldn’t you be happy that your sister and my best friend are interested in each other? That they look at each other the same way we do?”
I groaned before slamming my hands against my knees, “That’s the problem. They come from two different worlds. How is a Fire Lord, ruler of a nation going to tell his citizens that he is marrying a Waterbender with no royal blood?” I asked. Aang frowned and rubbed his neck, “The same way I would tell the world that I am marrying you.” He said. My eyes widen in surprise as Aang continued to talk. “When the war ended, I tried to force people to go back to their nations. But you showed me that the war caused changes. That the world is no longer divided into four nations, but a mixture of the nations. You made me realize that if I forced people to go back to the Fire Nation and others to stay at the Earth Nation, I would be no better than Fire Lord Ozai. I would be separating loved ones.”
I crossed my arms, “But we're different…” I tried to argue. Aang shook his head before he gently cupped my cheeks, “Even if there happened to be another Airbender out there in the world, and I could have kids with her to ensure the linage of Airbenders, I wouldn’t do it. The truth is, I'm completely in love with you. I prefer to lose everything than lose you. So what makes you think Zuko wouldn’t do the same for Yue?” I closed my eyes and rested my head against Aang’s chest.
Aang chuckled before gently kissing my head, “You're my voice of reason.” I mumbled against Aang. Aang chuckled, “And you are the reason why I work hard, I work to make sure the world is safe, not for me, but you and our future.” I pulled back and smiled, “I guess I should go apologize to Yue.” Aang nodded, and with that, I stood up and walked towards my bedroom door.
As I turned the corner to go down her bedroom hallway, Sokka bumped into me. I couldn't help but cover my nose at his stench, “You stink!” I complained loudly. Sokka grinned and walked down the hallway with me, “Zuko and I just finished practice. Actually, crazy story. Did you know Zuko is engaged with Mai? Well, not en-”. I could feel my blood run cold as I stopped dead in my tracks, “Engaged? He is engaged?” I asked.
Sokka looked at me confused, “Yeah but-”
“Thanks, Sokka, talk to you later,” I said hurriedly before I rushed back to my bedroom. All reason was gone, I was not going to let Zuko hurt my sister, over my dead body.

Atla, Zukka and Sokka :)
ATLA
Favorite character: Zuko, 100%. He’s a character I relate to a lot, eg the whole “hard work vs natural talent” thing... I even have a costume, although I didn’t get a chance to use it when I meant to so I haven’t really done so yet OTL
Least Favorite character: Hmm, god, I don’t know.... Bumi, maybe? As a comedic character he feels a bit too “haha crazy” and he doesn’t really (imo) work well as a dramatic one...
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon):
Zukka
Hakoda/Bato
Roku/Sozin
Tyzula
Jetko
Character I find most attractive: Zuko. Particularly s3 ofc lol
putting the rest under a cut for length
Character I would marry: idk. not big on marriage really
Character I would be best friends with: Sokka
a random thought: The true hero of ATLA is Iroh and I feel ashamed of not having mentioned his name yet in this
An unpopular opinion: The age difference between Kataang is 2 years which is the exact same age difference between Zutara and neither are particularly weird regardless of the fact that I don’t care about either ship
My Canon OTP: Don’t have one. Sokka/Suki is cute I guess is the closest I come to having strong feelings on a canon ship
My Non-canon OTP: Zukka
Most Badass Character: Toph but also low key Sokka bc he’s a non-bender
Most Epic Villain: That old blood bending woman who gave us all nightmares
Pairing I am not a fan of: Zutara, but that’as as much about fandom behavior back in the day as anything else
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Korra, all of LoK
They gave Toph too little to do in s3 and she SHOULD have had her Zuko outing like all the others >:( Actually Zuko and Toph have a lot in common in certain ways and that was never fully explored
Also obviously SOOOO many characters in this series who were written as straight when they shouldn’t be lol. We get it, it was a kid’s cartoon in the 00s, but they didn’t have to agressively pair off everyone in neat m/f couples by the end of the series
Favourite Friendship: Aang & Zuko
Character I most identify with: Zuko, as mentioned above. He’s also the same MBTI type as me haha (INFP). Also, Sokka mix of being simoultaneously really clever and extremely stupid is a gigantic mood.
Character I wish I could be: Idk... Iroh, in some ways, certainly. Honestly, by the end of the series all the main kids are pretty admirable people. Who wouldn’t want Aang’s kindness, Katara’s righteousness, Zuko’s determination, Sokka’s cleverness, Toph’s independence, Suki’s leadership, etc? Hell, Mai’s bravery and Ty Lee’s loyalty? I love all the main kids.
Zukka
When I started shipping them: Only a year or two ago, actually! I think last time I rewatched The Boiling Rock I was like 👀
Originally when I was an ATLA fan I was still in the “we must adheer to canon” phase of my existence in fandom and then for a good while I was still affected by my... hesitance to look like a, idk, stereotypical slash fan, in the sense that back in the day people were REALLY hostile to slash ships that seemed, idk, contrived. Zukka also just wasn’t a big ship back in the day I don’t think, Jetko has always been more popular.
My thoughts: The cammaraderie that developes between them over their stay at The Boiling Rock is incredibly compelling to me and I think that... the ways in which Sokka holds Zuko accountable through “jokes” but still allows him the space to prove himself is really interesting and probably... something that is actually better for Zuko than either Katara’s rage or Aang’s kindness? Idk.
Also they both have pretty complicated relationships to masculinity and what it means to be a man in their respective cultures and their sort of struggles with that and how those struggles look different due to circumstances like their parental situations and different cultural expectations... Zuko’s is less directly about masculinity per se because the Fire Nation has less strict gender roles, or at least ones that don’t code certain activities as purely masculine endeavours (eg warfare) but certainly there are shades of Ozai’s treatment of Zuko and Azula that are gendered as well as about birth order and it’s interesting how Zuko and Sokka both impose restrictions on themselves about how they should behave and what they should live up to culturally.
What makes me happy about them: I think they complement each other really well. They have a lot in common but are pretty different about their approach to things... I also just really like battle couples lol
What makes me sad about them: Their respective trauma is part of what makes them compelling but it’s certainly also sad, so in that sense...
Things done in fanfic that annoys me: So much of it is modern AU and i don’t care for it lol. Completely ignoring any sense that the Avatar world must have some elements of homophobia bothers me to exist in the ways it does, but as does completely overplaying it, idk. It’s a balance not everyone strikes well. Also obviously when people demonise Suki or Mai to account for them not being in the picture that’s bad.
Things I look for in fanfic: Honestly, more than anything? Good characterisation. This is a ship that lives and dies by good characterisation. I also really like when they’re set during the time at the Western Air Temple.
My wishlist:
Swordfighting duels!! Practicing swordfighting together!! Bonding over swords like the dumb teenage boys they are!! Yes I know about the innuendo that only makes it better!!
Hakoda not just being cool with it but realising about Zuko’s abuse and being like Actually I Am Your Dad Now
I always want fic where the gaang find out about how Zuko got his scar and that with Zukka is even more *chef’s kiss*
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Hmm ending up with, huh? I like Jetko for the drama but not necessarily as endgame. Sukka is pretty cute so I’m down for that but Maiko is.... look, it made sense for the time that Zuko was back in the Fire Nation because but I 100% don’t think it’s something either of them benefits from afterwards. They’re better off as friends imo also Zuko’s gay
My happily ever after for them: I want them to travel the world together tbh? I never quite know how to account for Zuko becoming Fire Lord in my thoughts about him post-canon because... well obviously I hate monarchy and I don’t actually think Zuko would be particularly comfortable being the leader of a nation, so... I don’t know. Maybe after some years, maybe a decade, of guiding the nation back towards stability Zuko starts reforming the country towards something more democratic and becomes less personally involved in the affairs of running the country? I don’t see them as people who would or really could be tied down by each other because they each have responsibilities to their respective communities and I don’t necessarily find “and then they lived in the Fire Nation palace together for the rest of their lives” compelling...
Sokka
How I feel about this character: I love him so much. His character developement is so compelling and as one of the very few prominent non-bending characters he is also compelling in the ways that situate him within the world and forces him to look for other things to contribute with. Again, the ways in which he is undeniably very clever but simoultaneously kind of dumb is also just... Very Good and Relatable lol. He was someone I overlooked a bit for a while but I think Sokka’s Master really awakened me to how great he is and on rewatches he became one of my faves. Also, you just gotta love any character that uses sarcasm as a shield lol.
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Zuko, primarily, as discussed above. I’m fine with both Yue and Suki as canon ships but I’m not really invested in it. When I was younger I liked Sokka/Toph somewhat but actually Toph is a lesbian so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ You could always do Suki/Toph, kill two birds with one stone you know
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Gotta love a good father-son relationship <3
My unpopular opinion about this character: I don’t know what the popular opinions about him are tbh. I’ll use this to say I think ADHD!Sokka makes sense though
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Hmm, idk... the episodes he had that were focused on him were very good and did a good job of exploring his inner life in the face of how often he’s a comedic character, so it would have to be more in terms of his relationships with other characters. More interactions with Zuko would have been good ofc ! :3c
Favorite friendship for this character: Hm, probably Aang. Protective Older Brother Mode for a character that isn’t even technically his sibling is Very Good.
My crossover ship: I don’t really have crossover ships

The Full Avatar Trek AU
I  felt bored, so I decided to do a follow up on all of @yinza‘s awesome Trek/Avatar crossover art by creating a timeline (with episodes) of all the Avatar Trek shenanigans. Also because I’m a huge nerd and there are just SO MANY THINGS that kind of parallel each other in really weird ways despite their differences.
I’ll start off with ATLA and make a post later for Korra.
Anyway, let’s begin!
Note: This was made pre-”Star Trek: Discovery” so, unfortunately, there won’t be any Lorca/Zhao parallels…yet. I did add one “Discovery” related thing though.
Avatar
Avatar is the story of a Vulcan-Trill hybrid named Aang who commands the Appa, one of the most prized ships in the Vulcan fleet. Aang himself is a prodigy of sorts, so much so that only he was deemed worthy of the Avatar sybiant–one of the oldest symbiants known to the trills–despite not being fully Trill himself. And, to make the Klingon’s hunt for the Avatar make more sense, I guess we can maybe say that because it’s an old symbiant the Avatar has access to some kind of higher plane of power? That, or maybe the Avatar just tends to be very powerful?
He was merely a Lieutenant Commander serving as first officer to Captain Gyatso when the Klingons attacked the Vulcan homeworld. After Gyatso was fatally wounded in one of the Klingon’s initial assaults on Vulcan, Aang took the initiative and tried to steer them towards safety.
But, as luck would have it, the Appa got caught in some kind of space anomaly which forced Aang to land on the nearest planet–a small Bajoran colony–which is where our story begins…
Book 1
The Man in the Anomaly
Katara and Sokka are two Bajorans hunting for food to bring back to their village. The situation on Bajor (and the Bajoran colonies where Katara and Sokka live) is a mix of the ATLA and DS9 canons While there are no signs of camps, the Klingons have frequently raided the Bajoran colonies and tried to harvest their resources in order to weaken Bajor Prime.
Anyway, Katara and Sokka are out hunting when a space vessel decides to land a few hundred feet away from them. Sokka cautions Katara to stand back, fearing that it might be some kind of Klingon trick. But, when the doors open, the only person to step off the ship is an exhausted looking Aang.
Meanwhile, on a worn out looking Klingon warbird, Lieutenant Jee informs Zuko that they’re receiving a strange signal from a nearby planet. Zuko investigates. This is rather odd, since last he checked the Vulcans began masking their signals to protect them from the Klingons long ago. Hell, he didn’t even know how many of them were left alive–unless…
And that’s when Zuko decides to head a course to the planet.
I guess I shroud probably also add that the space anomaly that Aang encountered whipped his ship through time and space.
The Avatar Returns
The kids’ grandmother informs everyone that a Klingon ship is coming their way. Everyone panics, and Aang is banished from the village by Sokka, who still doesn’t quite trust the guy.
Enter Prince Zuko and his awesome bat’leth. Zuko demands to know the location of the Avatar–basically a similar situation to what actually happened in canon. Aang appears, offers himself up on the condition that Zuko leaves everyone alone etc., etc.
Back at the village, Katara and Sokka investigate the ship–a few canonical things happen–and they end up taking control of the vessel to go and save Aang.
Canon stuff happens–and Katara and Sokka end up managing to teleport Aang back onto the ship.
As they make a run for it, Aang thanks his new friends and appoints them as officers aboard the Appa (Later on, Katara becomes the chief medical officer and Sokka becomes the science officer).
Also, I just realized that there should technically be a ton of dead bodies on the ship…no idea when/how they’d be removed yet.
Return to Vulcan
The Gaang travels to Vulcan (just go with it) where they try to look for Vulcan survivors, knowing that not all the Vulcans were actually killed in the Klingon attacks. This leads to some Aangstig when our captain voices regret about not tending to Gyatso when he had the chance, and not being there when his people needed him. Katara assures him that that was nothing he could do anyway (which makes this episode a mix of “The Southern Air Temple” and “The Storm.”).
Meanwhile, Zuko meets Gul Zhao (Yes, he’s a Cardassian and you can’t tell me otherwise. Also, there’s been a long standing alliance between the Cardassians and the Klingons and Ursa was a Cardassian which is why Azula looks like  a Cardassian and Zuko looks like a Klingon in @yinza‘s fan art), and some canon taunting happens. Also, Iroh is not a fan of red leaf tea. He does like prune juice through. “A warrior’s drink!” That, and blood wine.
[filler stuff and exploration I guess]
I guess instead of a waterbendding scroll, the Gaang could be after some kind of prized Bajoran manuscript?
I was also going to suggest that, with Rene Auberjonois playing one of the tribal leaders in “The Great Divide,” that that episode could be about Bajoran orbs but, that would still be a very boring episode, I think.
The Storm
BACKSTORY TIME!
After some asshat spouts bullshit, Aang and Katara find themselves in a cave where Aang recounts the events leading up to his landing in the future.
Meanwhile, the crewmen of Zuko’s ship are threatening mutiny and bringing up the prince’s dishonor. Iroh intervenes and explains Zuko’s story because everyone respects General Iroh (I feel like he’d get along well with General Martok for some reason…man, I need that au now. Meanwhile, Zuko and Worf can talk about how they restored the honor of their families.).
Cut to Aang’s story. Aang’s busy serving under Gyatso when the Klingons attack. Everyone’s on red alert. Gyatso is busy captaining and trying to get the Appa away from the Klingon flank. Gyatso gets hit, but instead of tending to Gyatso, Aang takes the helm. Aang voices regrets about leaving Gyatso to die saying that he should have been by his side. Katara assures him that that there was nothing he could do (Hmm, since this is partially a repeat of “Repeat to Vulcan,” this may need some work).
Cut to Iroh and the story of Zuko. Zuko is a young, enthusiastic youth eager to learn how to rule. He wants to observe a war meeting etc., etc.
(Oh, and fun fact: Daniel Riordan, the guy that voices General Bujing–the guy that Zuko speaks out against–played a Klingon in Star Trek: Enterprise. What kind of Klingon lets someone else fight his own challenge!)
Zuko speaks out of turn…dual…Zuko gets a quarter of his face cut by his father’s bat’leth and is discommendated and banished from Qo’nos until he manages to find whoever holds the Avatar symbiant.
The Blue Spirit
Similar premise to the actual episode, although it may need a better name (btw, instead of being a theater geek, the Zuko of this universe is a big fan of Klingon opera). I keep re-imagining Aang’s speech from this episode as something that sounds like it may have come from Captain Picard. (Hmm…Kuzon and Kurzon…).
The Siege of Bajor
Zhao’s plot in the latter half of this season is basically the final arc of Gul Dukat’s plot. I have a few words for you all:
I AM A LEGEND NOW. CARASSIA WILL FOR GENERATIONS TELL STORIES OF THE GREAT ZHAO WHO CONQUERED BAJOR! THEY WILL CALL ME ZHAO THE CONQUEROR, ZHAO THE GODSLAYER, ZHAO THE INVINCIBLE!
Zhao tries to destroy the orbs or something like that, but Aang manages to get the Prophets to intervene and Zhao is killed the same way as Dukat. That, or Aang just shows up, doesn’t intervene with the Prophets and it’s Zuko that watches Zhao get destroyed by the Prophets…or maybe Aang. I don’t know how Zuko fits into all this.
Book 2
So, after the Siege, Pakku decides to travel from Bajor to some of the settlements to help them rebuild, and gives Katara some kind of special Bajoran poultice thing…I don’t know–something like the spirit water that Pakku gives Katara in ATLA canon.
Meanwhile, Zuko meets up with Azula, who tells him that Ozai has apparently decided to restore his honor. Canon stuff, big fight. I can’t decide how Iroh and Zuko would try to disguise themselves. Maybe they just try to blend in, somehow? There’s no way they could just do reconstructive surgery or something since they’re fugitives.
I’m also wondering if there could be some stuff that makes the Avatar symbiant more significant. I don’t know what though.
The Cave of Two Lovers
The Gaang’s plot would probably play out differently, but the cave could be some kind of alienish thing that the Gaang encounters.
The idea of having Chong and co being hippie aliens makes me laugh though for some reason (Oh, I bet it’s because of the drug psa episode of TNG).
The Swamp
I feel like this could be a variant of “If Wishes were Horses,”  or better yet “Where No Man has Gone Before.” Huu could even be a traveler or something that the Gaang meets. Maybe this planet has some sort of alien property that connects them to the universe in such a way that they almost become enlightened just by being there for a period of time.
Katara sees a vision of her dead mother, Sokka sees Yue, and Aang has a vision of a girl wearing a VISOR, standing beside a flying boar.
(Another fun fact: Buck Bokai is Jeong Jeong, Also, Wesley Crusher is the pet shop owner in “City of Walls and Secrets,” and the circus trainer that hurts Appa? Yeah, that’s Lt. Barclay.)
The Blind Bandit
So, the Gaang is trying to find their  way to Earth when they meet Toph in some kind of arena. While there, Aang tries to talk to her but, Toph doesn’t really give a shit.
Later they manage to find the Beifong household, and Aang meets Toph. Just like in canon, Toph’s parents try to shelter Toph s much as possible, not thinking that she could manage anything on her own, even with her VISOR.
Later, Aang and Toph talk, and she tells him about the VISOR. By the episode’s end, Toph decides to join the Gaang as their engineer.
(Wait, this now brings up the valid question of who’s running the ship before all this and whatnot. Maybe we can have a few episodes about the crew and whatnot like we had in TNG? Granted, I don’t think Aang’s crew would like it all that much if he just randomly approved two Bajorans as his science and medical officers. Maybe there could be some other officers and Sokka/Katara/Toph can eventually work their way up? That, or somehow Aang is the only one left on the ship.)
Zuko Alone
Zuko disguises himself with a hat (yes, we’re doing that), and enters a small village in one of the Earth colonies. There, he gets in trouble with some Terran officers (since we can’t really do Starfleet at this point. Although, Starfleet being like the URN would be cool–Oh, so THAT’S why Raiko is so incompetent. He’s one of those asshat Starfleet command types that knows diddly squat about what he’s doing.)
Zuko meets Lee’s family, and we get some nice character development an some flashbacks.
In this universe, Zuko’s family has a monopoly on the Chancellor position (that or it has become hereditary). General Iroh has laid siege to Earth for 600 days when his son is killed in a Terran counterattack. Devastated by the death of his son, Iroh ends the siege.
Meanwhile, Ozai meets with Azulon and asks that he be made his father’s heir instead of Iroh. Azulon is offended by Ozai’s request and orders Ozai to kill Zuko.
Ursa intervenes, and thanks to some chance events, Ozai is made Chancellor after Azulon;s death.
(It is also at this point that I’ve come to realize that Zuko would basically be the Avatar equivalent of Alexander Rozhenko…I hated that kid. Zuko is 1000 times cooler and less lame. Although, Zuko’s lack of fighting skills as a kid and his empathy probably puts him on par with Alexander…somewhat.)
Lee’s mom meets up with Zuko and tells him that the Terran soldiers are threatening to take Lee away. So, Zuko decides to help her get Lee back, and we get some canonical stuff with a fight.
Well, Zuko’s hat comes off (man, that just sounds really stupid. I’ll come up with something more clever, eventually…maybe) and everyone find out that Zuko is a Klingon. Also, prejudice just like the actual episode.
The Chase
I feel like this would be another fun episode to Star Trekify. You get lots of action, fighting, wisdom etc. Maybe Toph still meets up with Iroh, and she doesn’t realize that Iroh is a Klingon so the two of them drink tea and share wisdom (wait, the VISOR would tell her he’s a Klingon. I’ll have to fix that sometime.). .
The Serpent’s Pass
This will probably need a name change. But, this could probably have the Gaang traveling through an asteroid belt or something. Meanwhile, Zuko and Iroh are ALSO on their wa to Earth, and Zuko meets Jet. I’d love to see a Star Trek version of their relationship. It would be interesting.
(Ok, this now brings up the question of: if Jet realizes that Zuko and Iroh ar Klingons, why doesn’t he just remove their hats? This hat problem is now sounding ridiculous.)
City of Walls and Secrets
The Gaang arrives on Earth and tries to meet with the United Earth Council Finding that they’re having difficulty meeting some of the higher ranking officials, the Gaang decides to sneak into one a gala hosted by Kuei.
However, things don’t go quite as planned when the Gaang gets taken captive by Long Feng, the head of Section 31. Long Feng tells Aang to stop distrupting the state of peace that’s been maintained by him and his agents. For here they are safe.
Meanwhile, Jet tries to reveal Zuko and Iroh’s identity and fails, being taken prisoner by Section 31 and is brainwashed.
(Also, what if, in this univrse, Long Feng tries to steal Aangs ship so he can better keep tabs on him or something?)
Ok, the Book 2 plot definitely needs to be reworked so ‘ll just skip to the finale.
The Earth King
(Or, rather, the equivalent of)
The Gaang manages to show the Council that Long Feng and Section 31 have been running a massive conspiracy, and Long Feng is arrested.
Meanwhile, Azula (Cardassian), Mai (Klingon), ad Ty Lee (a human presumably from a Klingon colony or something), infiltrate the United Earth Council and are ‘caught’ by Long Feng.
The Crossroads of Destiny
Plotwise, this episode is pretty much the same as canon.
The Star Trekified differences are that the Appa, Azula’s ship, and Zuko’s eventually meet up.
Zuko and Kaara were busy having their canon conversation when Katara is beamed away to the Appa, and Azula takes her place.
The Gaang waits anxiously, all the while wondering what the hell is going on.
Azula teleeports back to her ship..
Zuko’s ship readies to fire…and the Gaang realizes that they’re about to to get attacked!
Katara is heartbroken! A hit surges through the circuits and Aang gets zapped in his captain;s chair!
Madness endues!
The Gaang just barely makes it out alive, and Katara ends up using some Bajoran medicine to revive Aang
Book 3
Book 3 pretty much follows canon, so I don’t think I need to explain much. The Gaang travels from place to place, meets different people, there’s an equivalent to “The Day of Black Sun” (not sure what exactly it involves, but maybe they use the cave systems mentioned in “Star Trek: Discovery”) and then the finale.

aang loves taking photos of his friends at all times because he insists that every memory is precious. sokka (who is sick of bEING INTERRUPTED WHILE HE’S TRYING TO STUDY) has to disagree.

Fantasy
Alright, as the title implies, this one is nsfw, although I consider it pretty mild. Your boss might not, though. This is for Zutara Month, “snowflakes.” If any plot points don’t make sense, it’s because I adapted this from one of my multi-chapter fics. I tried to make it stand alone, though.
In retrospect, planning an Ember Island reunion in the winter may not have been the best idea. The bitter wind persisted and therefore thwarted their beach plans to some extent. Zuko and Katara eventually joined their friends at the waterfront—after stealing a quiet moment alone back at the beach house. When the icy tendrils of the tide reached their bare feet, it became obvious why no one was swimming.
"I thought this was supposed to be the perfect vacation spot," Toph grumbled. Not that she wanted to swim anyway.
"I don't know. I've never been here in the winter," Zuko replied.
"Apparently Yue Bay is where the weather is perfect all year around," Katara said, although she couldn’t remember who told her that.
"I'll make a bonfire. I always liked those as a kid. At least until…" Zuko trailed off and set about the task of finding firewood.
"I'll help you." Aang met the Fire Lord’s scowl with his characteristic grin. Katara wasn’t sure what dark memory plagued Zuko, but she hoped that the Avatar’s animated chatter and goofy antics could help snap him out of his sudden gloom.
After the fire had been burning for some time, the younger two of the group expressed their boredom and wandered further down the beach to build sand sculptures with their earthbending. When the conversation amongst the remaining four died down, Katara noticed that Sokka and Suki had gone from cuddly to handsy. It had to be some form of torture to watch her brother do that. Zuko picked up on her annoyance pretty quickly, though. "Let's go for a walk," he said.
Zuko seemed to have a destination in mind, and when they arrived at the cave at the far end of the beach, Katara recognized it. They had celebrated her birthday there two summers ago. It was decidedly one of the best birthdays she'd ever had and largely because Zuko had gone to great lengths to make it special for her. And that was before we even…
Zuko pulled her into a kiss and then led her into the cave. He gave her the look, his sly smile, and she realized that not only did he have a destination in mind, he also had a plan. She was curious and yes, aroused even, but also feeling a bit feisty. What if I play hard to get? Besides, it's so damn cold…
The weather appeared to not phase the firebender at all because once inside the cave, Zuko immediately started stripping off his clothes.
 Okay, then.
 "Z-z-zuko, what are you doing?"
"Well, I don't want to get them wet, do I?"
She remembered now. At the back of the cave was a hot spring. Zuko stood still for a few minutes with his back toward her. It seemed like every muscle in his body was flexed, and all he was doing was just standing there, inadvertently driving her crazy. He then looked over his shoulder at her, flashed a seductive smile, and strode to the water's edge. For all his lack of self-confidence in other ways, in this, he did not. Or perhaps it was just where Katara was concerned. Those types of smiles were only reserved for her, after all.
And this was something they only shared together.
He eased into the water and sighed. She melted.
"It feels great, Katara. Are you coming?"
Playing hard to get was such a stupid idea. Shivers went down her spine and not because she was cold.
Once she had joined him in the water, he said, "You told me I needed to relax and have fun, so I just thought—"
She cut him off with a kiss. A very insistent, I-have-to-have-you-now kiss. He broke it just briefly to look into her desire-filled eyes before he lost himself in them—and then lost himself in her completely.
They had "bathed" together before back at the palace, but this… this was different. It was such a combination of sensations: the heated pool, like fire and water; them moving together, team liquidy hot; the occasional burst of cold air against their heated skin, opposites attract…
 And snow.
 Wait, snow?
Zuko stilled their motions even though it almost pained him to do so. Katara let out a little whimper in response.
 "K-k-katara, why is it snowing?"
"Oh…um…" She tightened the grip she had around him with her ankles before leaning back slightly to look up at the top of the cave. In an act of impulse before entering the water, she had frozen the condensation there. She had also regulated the surrounding air temperature, so that when the water droplets began to melt and fall, they would refreeze, crystallize, and then float down like snowflakes.
The flurries melted instantly when they touched Zuko's skin, she noticed. She wondered if he could feel their icy prickle first like she could, or if everything with him was just constantly and irresistibly hot. He watched the snowflakes fall in between the puffs of steam their quickened breaths made. When he realized she wasn't going to give much more of an answer, he coaxed her to the edge of the pool where he could get more leverage. It wasn't long before their cries of pleasure echoed off the cave's walls.
On the walk back to the beach house, Katara confessed. "So, I've always had this… fantasy… about doing it in the snow. Or, um, maybe inside an igloo. I dunno."
 "Sounds cold." Zuko smirked.
"Yeah, I guess that's the part I couldn't figure out. I never factored a firebender into the equation, though."
"Wait… how long have you had this fantasy?" He raised an eyebrow at her.
"Oh, come on. It's not like I ever thought I would leave the South Pole."
"Is this what all little Water Tribe girls fantasize about?"
"Zuko, stop it! Maybe I'm just homesick, did you ever think of that?"
"Oh." He looked taken aback. "Are you?"
"Maybe? I don't know. I just don't know if I could live in the Fire Nation for the rest of my life, OK?"
"Whoa, whoa, what brought this on? Nobody's forcing you to stay in the Fire Nation. Even if we… well, I had hoped you would stay with me, but of course, you could go back home whenever you want. I wouldn't stop you." All confidence was lost. Zuko was not the man in the cave anymore. He felt uncertain, vulnerable… and cold.
Katara realized that while she had been playing with snow flurries before, she had just thrown ice daggers without meaning to. And instead of melting upon impact, they had penetrated. That came out completely wrong. How do I explain? It’s just a big decision, that’s all…
"I want to go with you," Zuko said.
"Huh?" Katara had been so distracted by her own inner dialogue, that Zuko's comment caught her off guard.
"I want to go with you to the South Pole."
 "You d-d-do?"
"Yeah. I want to meet Gran Gran. And eat seaprunes. And go tiger seal hunting with your dad. And try ice fishing. And I want to make love to you in the snow. Or in an igloo… whichever you prefer." He smiled, this time a shy and hopeful smile.
"Technically you've already met Gran Gran…"
 "That doesn't count."
 "And you've had seaprunes."
 "That doesn't count, either."
"And just now, it was snowing, sort of…"
 "Katara?" His smile vanished.
 "Hmm?"
"Are you… ashamed of me? Do you not… want me to go?
"No! I mean, yes!" Zuko's frown contorted into a look of confusion. Katara made a noise of frustration.
"I'm sorry, I can't seem to say what I mean. No, I am not ashamed of you. And yes, I would love to take you to the South Pole!"
"Who's going to the South Pole?" Sokka fell in step with them out of nowhere.
"Sokka! Where did you come from?" Katara squeaked. And how much did you hear?
"I've been looking for you two. Lunch is ready. And then after lunch, Zuko, you owe me a sword fight."
"You're on," Zuko replied. "Hey, Sokka, we'll see you at the beach house in a few, okay?" He gave the other teen a rather pointed look, and his meaning was understood.
 "Sure thing." Sokka left.
Katara marveled at how easily Zuko could get rid of her brother. She couldn't do that if she tried. In fact, if she had insinuated or even outright asked him to leave, he would take that as all the more reason to stay.
Zuko interrupted her thoughts with a kiss. His breath was warm on her neck when he whispered, "So… I've always had this fantasy of doing it in a hot spring… inside a cave…"

ASOIAF Characters and Their Avatar Counterparts
Alliser Thorne: Admiral Zhao for his harsh demeanor and the way he interacts with Jon Snow. Amory Lorch: Maybe another Zhao. Anguy the Archer: Longshot, for obvious reasons.  Arianne Martell: Katara for her her judgement. Arthur Dayne: Sokka because space sword.  Arya Stark: Toph Beifong because she’s a tomboy and also that one time she went blind.  Asha Greyjoy: Azula, because she is favored by her father and a proven warrior.  Balon Greyjoy: A bit of an Ozai for how he preferred Asha over Theon.  Barristen Selmy: Iroh, because he’s a proven commander, and honorable.  Bran Stark: Aang kind of because of his ‘wings.’  Brienne of Tarth: Mostly Toph. Maybe a little Katara too, but she’s like 99% Toph.  Catelyn Stark: Katara for her judgement and morality. Kind of a more extreme version of Katara the way Arianne is. I guess there’s a water element to it too. Her interactions with Jaime also have a bit of a Katara/Zuko vibe to them. Catelyn has a stronger conviction though and is unwilling to back down.  Cersei Lannister: Azula for her cunning, manipulation, and her ability to play the game. The daughter who wants to be the heir. The queen who becomes paranoid after her brother turns on his father, flees, and joins the enemy.
Daenerys Targaryen: Sometimes, I put her as a Katara because of her determination but she is mostly Zuko. An exiled prince(ss), the child of a fire-obsessed king, abused at the hands of their sibling and the mother/father of dragons.  Davos Seaworth: The Cabbage Merchant, just for shits and giggles.  Eddard Stark: A lot of characters can fill the role either because it’s convenient, or because of parallels. He can be Hakoda, Sokka, or Tonraq because of their leadership and the snow. But even Zuko could fill this role with how honorable he is...and telling Cersei/Azula that he’s onto them.  Gendry: Zuko. Something about him just feels very Zuko.  Also, Gendrya is Toko.  Gerold Hightower: Someone once headcanoned Iroh as Gerold. I thought it was pretty badass.  Gregor Clegane: Azula, with how he overshadows his younger, scarred brother. “She was born lucky.”/My brother is a knight. Did you see him ride today?”  Howland Reed: No real parallel, but maybe an Aang for being Ned’s bestie.  Illyrio Mopatis: No real parallel, but perhaps Iroh.  Jaime Lannister: The not-so-kid-friendly version pf Zuko complete with a bit of a redemption arc. We start out not liking him, but we get to know him and our sympathy for him grows from there. He also betrays his king after he learns his evil plans, and loses a body part which ends up being a symbol of the changes he’s gone through. Plus, we have that “I used to be all about honor, but now I;ve changed” thing going on. We even get a nice scene where his dad disowns him after getting called out.  Janos Slynt: Zhao because he’s an assholes. I headcanon .half the assholes as Zhao, basically. The other half are Ozai.  Joffrey Baratheon: He’s kind of a kid Ozai turned up to 11. Maybe a mix of Azula too, but not even Azula would do half the things Joffrey has done. Plus, he’s not as smart.  Jon Arryn: Aang? Again, no real parallel, but I do what I can.  Jon Snow: Katara for the hope and naivete in the first half of “A Game iof Thrones.” Zukp for his angst and brooding.  Loras Tyrell: There's no real, actual parallel, but I like to sometimes pretend that Sokka’s the Loras to Zuko’s Renly or vis versa.  Lyanna Stark: Katara for her iron will.  Mace Tyrell: No real counterpart, but I tend to think of Ukano as a combination of Mace and Tywin. Meryn Trant: Once again--Zhao, because he’s an asshole.  Nymeria: Katara, because she was a fierce female warrior.  Olenna Tyrell: No real parallel, but I feel like she’d be fast friends with old lady Mai because of all the sass.  Petyr Baelish: A creepier, schemier, scumbagier version of Varrick.  Ramsay Snow. Hame turned up to 11 because of just how creepy and sadistic he is. Don’t think about an au where Ramsay is a bloodbender.  Randyll Tarly: Not really Ozai, but a bit of an Ozai with how he abuses his eldest son because he thinks he’s soft. Renly Baratheon: Again, no real parallel, but I like to play around a bit and make Renly/Loras into Zukka. Also thinking about Sokka/Zuko and picturing the scene with Renly telling Brienne telling her not to let the boys see her cry is kind of sweet.  Rhaegar Targaryen. Kind of Zuko. Again...kind of.  Robb Stark: I sometimes like to imagine Sokka filling this role just because. This unfortunately means that...yeah. Zuko in some strange au too, maybe.  Robert Baratheon: Jet because of his paranoid obsessions. But also, some of his interactions with Ned reminded me of Zuko in “The Promise” and “The Search.” It seemed really weird, and maybe even funny, at first, but after reading this, it did actually start to make sense why I’d think that. Just like Zuko, he reconsiders his position, wondering what it would be like if he wasn’t king because it would be so much easier.  Roose Bolton: Azula. They don’t have a whole lot in common, but just imagine her saying “The Firelord sends his regards.”  Roslin Frey: Listen, all the ladies in the Avatar world have a lot of agency, even even ladies like Yue. Therefore, there’s no way a Red Wedding in the ASOIAF universe would play out the same way in the Avatar universe. But, with that said, what if Yue was Roslin or Jeyne Westerling?  Samwell Tarly: A bit of a Zuko with how his father abuses him.  Sandor Clegane: Zuko since they have the scarred and overshadowed by their sibling thing going on.  Sansa Stark: A mix of Katara, Mai, and Zuko. Starts off like Katara with how naive she is, and hopeful. ALso, starts off as kid!Mai too for similar reasons. But she was also more emotive. But then she developed a mask because of all her abuse, just like Mai. The way she’s abused by Joffrey and Cersei is also reminiscent of Zuko’s abuse as well.  Sand Snakes: This isn’t a proper character entry but, listen, the Sand Snakes are the Kyoshi Warriors.  Theon Greyjoy: Zuko, if he were even more of an asshole. Also, like Zuko, he’s an exile whose father prefers his sister over him. He also does a bunch of shit to try and prove how great he is. But again, he is an asshole  Tommen Baratheon: Zuko. Replace kittens with turtleducks.  Tyrion Lannister: Zuko, because of how they’re both outcasts abused and looked down on by their father. They also have an awesome scene where they call their dads out on their bullshit.  Tywin Lannister: A nice mix of Ozai and Azula. The cunning tactician that abuses his youngest son because of some perceived flaw (technically it’s also because Tywin blames Tyrion for the death of his wife whom Tyrion killed in childbirth, but still). Varys: I like to think of him as Iroh with the behind-the-scenes plotting.  Viserys Targaryen: Kind of a mix of Zuko and Azula, but mostly Azula. Or at least, he’s the Azula to Daenerys’ Zuko with how Viserys treats her...kind of.  Ygritte: Jon/Ygritte kind of reminds me of Maiko.
