today's race felt off to begin with. When y/n had attempted to leave her aging yorkie, comet, in her hotel room - like she had done for the past couple months - he began to whine.

"poor baby," she mocked, but turned the small TV on and switched it to the channel that would be broadcasting the race live. "look, com. watch me on the tv."

the dog had complied and jumped onto the un-made bed, but when she left and closed the door, he had whined once or twice before calming down.

she made a mental note to get him checked out at the vet, but got distracted when she showed up to the paddock and got a look at the track.

"the weather wasn't as shit yesterday during quali," she said off-handedly to max verstappen, who was chatting to the engineers.

"are you worried?" y/n was a good racer, it was clear - but whenever max saw how small she looked in comparison to everyone else on the team he had a small sense of dread. it wasn't new, just annoying.

"nah." she grinned at him, her hair already pulled back into a french braid for ease during the race.

"lights out.... and away we go!"

the lights blink out and y/n is already gunning it, attempting to bypass the boys from mclaren.

she discovered early on that locking up would be her main issue today, and she made it clear on her radio.

"i keep locking up."

her voice was calm but shook a little as she struggled to steer, and she spoke only in short sentences to prevent stuttering.

"copy."

finally, she worked out a system to braking that prevented the struggle, but in speeding up, found that she'd made her way into a mass of cars.

"watch out, y/n. keep out of trouble - wait until everybody else has moved out of each others way."

"ok. pulling back-" the radio crackled and then went silent as a car careened into the side of her.

the audiences at home got to watch a replay of the impact.

somewhere in australia, a family consisting of two parents, a teenaged boy and a little girl are watching the race.

the boy reacts first, jolting. "was that logan sargeant and y/n y/ln?"

"yeah... turn up the volume?"

the mother grabs the remote and obliges, terse.

"was that the girl driver?" the barely 5 year old asks, brows furrowed.

"baby, go play in the other room." her father dismisses her, and when she slowly shuffles out, eyes trained on the screen as the commentators relay the details, her dad huffs.

"now. and don't look at the screen anymore."

she squeals and runs out, and the boy starts to jiggle his knee up and down as they wait for more information.

across the world, houses go silent.

"and it looks like logan sargeant attempts to pull away from the crowd but misjudges the distance between himself and y/ln. we can see him here slam right into the right side of the body of her car, and she goes spinning out, right into barricades. oh! and if we slow it down, you can see that the force of her chassis hitting the barricades not only forces the car to lift fully off of the ground, but it also tips - the top of the vehicle flips up into the barricade until it falls back into place. that is a nasty hit for rookie red bull driver y/n y/ln."

the commentators keep talking, thinking nothing of the accident, until the cameras switch to the red bull team, who are trying to get into contact with the girl.

"y/n, are you okay?"

silence.

"can you respond? y/n we need a vocal response. anything, okay kid? even if you can just hold down on the radio button so we know you're there."

no response.

the commentators continue.

"and it looks like we're getting no response from red bull driver y/n, who has just crashed."

his whole body jerks on the impact, and he spins out off the track, coming to a shaky stop.

"shit, shit, shit!" his voice cracks.

"are you okay, mate?" the radio crackles at him as he's fighting back tears.

"yeah - was that y/n i hit?"

"yes, we can confirm the crash involved both you and y/ln. we are receiving word that it is a red flag crash."

"is she okay?" he doesn't get a response at first, so he tries again. "is y/n okay?"

"no word yet. sorry, logan."

"fuck! i'm so sorry - i really thought it was clear, i just... fuck."

"calm down, sargeant. wait for pick-up and keep yourself collected. we'll tell you as soon as we find anything out, okay mate?"

"sure."

he lifts himself from the smoking chassis and the world watches as he kicks it out of frustration before letting his head lower.

there's a sickening feeling in his stomach as he sees the girls unmoving vehicle.

he pictures her inside, and the fact that she's so much smaller than the older men cause his mind to unravel with pictures of her limp and unconscious.

inside the car, y/n blinks her eyes open, groaning.

her ears are ringing and her head hurts, and the body of her car is so warped that it's vacuum sealed her into the vehicle.

in the back of her mind, y/n feels the pain in her right thigh and left ankle, and her right shoulder feels dislocated.

"kid, we need an answer." the radio's muted and crackling, and when y/n tries to respond, she realizes that something on her end is fucked because they're still begging for an answer.

she goes to climb out of the car, but a sob tears out of her chest at the immense pain that suddenly blooms throughout her whole body.

she falls heavily back onto the seat and pants, closing her eyes.

she feels slight relief from the pain when she fully relaxes and closes her eyes, and nestles into her seat a little to get comfortable.

the need to sleep takes over her and she obeys, nodding off.

inside her hotel room, comet's ears pull back in concern as he hears his owners name being called out repeatedly from the television.

"red flag, max. we need to restart the race."

verstappen stills, his ears suddenly ringing. he has a bad feeling about the red flag but just can't place it.

"what's happened?"

"there was a crash between a williams and y/n. to the pit lanes, please." the voice on the other end seems calm, but there's a waver to it.

"fuck, are you joking? are they both okay?"

"the williams driver... logan sargeant, we're hearing, is up and out of his chassis. we've heard nothing from y/n yet."

he'd fight them, ask for more information, but knows that red bull would be the first to hear anything.

"tell me if you find anything out."

"copy."

as he drives to the pit lane, max replays her grin at him as she reassures the dutchman.

"nah." her nose is scrunched and hair pulled out of her face.

he thinks about how bulky the helmet looked on her, the barely 20 year old driver somehow never managing to put on any muscle, no matter how hard she tried.

he prays to jesus, zeus, allah, and even the virgin mary - surely she'd have sympathy to max's prayers, as she's lost someone dear to her before. any deity he can think of is immediately begged to ensure the safety of his partner.

a whining noise pulls y/n back into consciousness, and she furrows her brows.

"i'm trying to sleep, com. shut up." when she opens her eyes and sees the battered cockpit in front of her, she realizes that she's not hearing her dog cry, it's just the ringing in her ears that are back.

and then suddenly all she can see is comet waiting for her. comet, waiting in a hotel room that she'll never re-enter. what's gonna happen to the mutt if she dies? her parents are over-seas, she has no boyfriend to look after him. comet would be all alone.

and then all the guys on the grid are flashing through her head. she knows, vacantly, that logan crashed into her. he'd never forgive himself if she died. verstappens win streak would be fucked if he was grieving over his teammate. even lewis hamilton, who was the first driver to openly back her as the only woman on the grid.

she screws her eyes shut and lets out a heavy sob, steeling herself.

the commentators are no longer focused on the race.

"and i think i can speak for all of us when i ask, where is the goddamn safety car and ambulance? young driver y/n y/ln has been stuck in the wreck for about a minute and a half now, and there has still been no aid for her. which is a cause for concern about the overall safety of f1, as- oh my god!"

charles is already on his way back to the pit lanes, muttering manifestations under his breath for y/n to be okay.

he's shaking, filled with lead and a lump in his throat. he and y/n aren't super close, due to their team differences, but every time he spoke to her she had a certain gleam in her eye that one only had when they weren't afraid of death.

this worried him. racing was her life - would she succumb easily? it was a known fact that many drivers drove as if they had nothing to lose.

the idea of her choking on mortality in her chassis scared him more. maybe her body was broken, and the pain was all she could feel as the life drained from her? he worried for those that would have to witness the blood and bruises when she was pulled from her car.

"we've got an update on y/n."

he was pulled out of his mind. "tell me. please."

"she's getting herself out. the paramedics were taking too long, so she took it upon herself, apparently." a startled laugh falls out of charles' lips as he cheers back.

muscles screaming, y/n forces herself to lift out of the cockpit, allowing her body the only relief of rest once her upper half is slung over the halo. for about five seconds she stops, before she forces herself to continue.

the safety car and paramedics are here now, and camera crew for the live footage plus the netflix crew are close behind.

people are shouting at her to stop, but she continues to claw her way out of the wreckage.

she's crying and praying to a god she never knew she believed in as she forces her broken legs out of the car, sliding over the side to the ground.

she stands and looks around at the medical crew who are advancing towards her and tries to take her helmet off. she can't, and they're reassuring her that they'll do it for her.

y/n looks out at the audience and raises one arm to greet them. she's met with immediate raucous applause and, swaying for a few seconds, she falls.

"you would never believe it. this lady is pulling herself out of her car. as the camera zooms, you can really see the absolute strength this is taking her - hold on, we're getting audio now."

the world watches with bated breath as the coverage of her climbing out of the car begins to play. you can hear the agonised screams she lets out as she forces herself to exit, and just how broken some of her limbs look. her left ankle hangs limply, and she has to use both arms to force her right leg out of the cockpit.

"what a magnificent scene. y/n y/ln has kissed death, and still lives to tell the tale. we see her now, standing on the track as the medical staff come to her aid, and she falls. a very fair response to what she has just gone through. a round of applause to y/n y/ln, the girl who kissed death!"

"so lando, congratulations on p4. obviously, the whole crash between logan and y/n caused a damper on the overall race. how do you feel about it?" the interviewer pushed a mic at his face.

"the crash? yeah, it was terrifying not knowing if she was okay or not. i'm not surprised she ended up climbing out of the chassis herself," he laughs softly. "i've never known her for being patient."

"how do you feel about her new nickname?"

"nickname?"

"people are calling her 'the girl who kissed death'."

lando can't stop a high-pitched laugh from escaping. "girl who kissed death? that's stupid. oh god, i can't wait for her to find out about that. she'll be proper pissed off."

"right, well, thanks lando. have fun celebrating!" the interviewer bids him farewell.

a few months later:

over the healing process, y/n was forced to give multiple statements, post social media posts, and even a quick video from the hospital bed, but when she sees comet, her resolve finally fails.

she begins to tear up as the scruffy dog barks at her, jumping up and down.

"someone's excited to see you," lewis hamilton, the temporary guardian of the dog, grins.

roscoe stomps his feet and licks y/n, panting at her.

"awe, little babies. i was so scared of dying and leaving comet all alone, but i think he would've been fine."

lewis glances down at the kneeling girl in front of him and tsks, nudging her with his foot. "don't say that, y/n. nobody would've been fine."

"yeah?"

"yeah. have you seen all the tiktok edits of your crash? people were terrified. i was terrified."

y/n doesn't say anything, but stands to hug the british man.

he holds her back, before clearing his throat. "save that love for death. heard you've kissed it before."

"fuck off."

My Commentary on Tim Drake: Robin

Because it’s my blog and I can do what I want

Starting off strong with the panel that made TimKon shippers go crazy

Ahhh! I love them calling eachother the Batfam it makes me happy

Then look at how small Bart looks

A couple commentaries not connected to any particular panel but I adore the art style and I’m so happy Tim and Stephanie worked things out.

But I think Tim might have a type

TimKon shippers, TimBern Shippers and Platonic Tim and Steph fans somehow all got fed with this Pride Comic

People say Jason is the book nerd when Tim Spends this whole story recognizing and remembering the plots of detective novel not to mention he recognizes that he lost four books and figured which ones they are not to mention just the collection of book he treats like his most precious items. Like I acknowledge Jason and Jane Austen and love it but he should not be the only one joked about being a book nerd.

These clone escue thingys show up and Tim’s thoughts about them are so interesting.

I adore that even as he’s fighting them he’s saying praise for all of them, though he’s got the most for Dick. And the first read through I thought he didn’t compliment Jason and that made me sad.

Close up on Damian’s because you can’t really see it in the full page pic and the my baby brother just really got to me. I am very susceptible to Batfam moments

But Gosh even knowing they’re not his actual family it’s got to hurt to hear them confirm all his worst fears of never measuring up.

Well like father like son I guess. It’s not like Batman hasn’t figured out how to take down almost any hero he meets.

Little does Bernard know.

I love the TimBern in this. Their relationship is still developing, it’s clear that Bernard is comfortable in it from the start of the volume but Tim has his doubts of where they stand, of whether this is a good idea because he’s just dragging Bernard into his mess. But Bernard has his own messes and struggles and they can just be with eachother through all that

Tim. Timmy boy. That’s not a good thing. You should learn how to have some more self preservation, just because your family are all self sacrificing doesn’t mean it’s the healthy way to be.

Why is Superboy’s biggest fan what Tim finally responds to? Also why does Bernard call him that? Is Tim talking about him all the time? Also I love that Bernard calls him his boy wonder once again little does he know. (This is another scene I’ve seen TimKon fans go crazy for)

That’s the last picture on this post as I’ve hit the limit but the book was very good! I loved the villian, loved how they explored Tim. Love the Tim Bern. Tim coming to the realization that it’s ok not to know who he is yet is amazing. He’s figuring things out and that’s ok.

Steve helps you through an anxiety attack. Just a blurb. Anyway, did you know changes in temperatures or shocks to your system like sour candy can be used as grounding methods during moments of anxiety? It’s supposed to get you more solidly into your body and give more awareness to a situation outside of your thoughts. this is entirely a comfort fic of one of our favorite boys being there for us.

Steve has had his fair share of anxiety attacks and he’s fairly in tune with those he cares about, so the first time he heard your breath hitch he’s watching you and when your forehead starts to bead up with sweat and your hands tremble while grabbing some skittles he knows what’s coming and separates the two of you from the group.

“We’re just gonna go grab some drinks for the drive back.” Steve pats a hand on your shoulder and jerks his thumb over his own in the direction you’d all just come from, a good excuse seeing as half the kids had forgotten to grab one and were eager to yell out their drink of choice before continuing to look through the racks of gas station candy, their hands full of more snacks than any of them could eat and knowing they’d try anyway.

He guided you wordlessly back to wall of coolers and got to work gathering the different drinks, the chill of the bottles leeching through his sweater and raising goosebumps along his arms as he stacked the plastic bottles in the crook of his elbow, balancing the stack as he added to it.

“Are you doing ok?” He spoke a little slower than normal, his tone light when he once again ushered you towards another set of cooler doors to grab his own drink and a bottle of water.

“Mhm.” Your throat was tight and you could feel the beat of your heart down to your toes, his words only half volume when combined with the shrill ringing of your ears, it wasn’t true but you weren’t sure you’d be able to force the words ‘I feel like I can’t breath’ past the straw thin opening of your throat. The ground felt uneven as you approached the register, you were only vaguely aware of Steve purchasing the drinks and leading you outside, his hand hovering over the middle of your back as you walked, where he sat on the curb and pat the cement as invitation to join him, he handed you a cold bottle of water when you did, the cap already off for you and ready.

“You should drink some water, Mike and Lucas are gonna keep the others in their for awhile and it’s to hot be out here with out it.” The first swallow was painful, like you’d been trying to pass a golf ball down, the lump an obstacle causing you to sputter as it passed through, Steve giving a couple of firm slaps to your back in reassurance and urging you to drink more at the sight of you trying to set the bottle down. You weren’t even thirsty but your brain was a mesh of racing thoughts and empty space, nothing tangible but the feeling of too much all consuming, your attempts at grasping anything falling flat and leaving you with only Steve’s voice as a solid accompaniment to your palpating heart.

“Just a little more for me, ok?” The second sip wasn’t any better than the first but the shock of the cold registered in your body with a jolt and it allowed the following drinks to smooth out as they came, the path of the cool liquid felt as it made its way to your stomach.

“How’re you feeling?” The bottle was more than half empty when he’d asked, crinkled in your grip and dripping condensation down your hand and wrist, skin raised from it, even under the hot sun bearing down from above.

“I’m ok…yeah, I’m ok.” You’d had to double check with your self as you said it, feeling yourself out from your feet up. Your heart wasn’t pulsating your whole body anymore and the tremor of your hands had subsided, the sweat was still lightly coating your skin and the ring in your ears had faded from a roar to a manageable background buzz, the convenience store music reaching you for the first time since you’d walked in.

“I’m ok now.”

“Good.” Steve wrapped an arm around your shoulders and placed a hand on your head, using his grip to guide you so you were leaning against his shoulder. He knew first hand how physically and emotionally draining anxiety attacks could be and opted to be a silent support, afraid if he pried to much too soon he’d trigger another attack.

“You’re ok now.”

You were ok now.

🎋 —Yuwu.

Another one by the Queen. I wanted to read Yuwu a long time ago, and when I finished it, I was extremely satisfied. Meatbun just doesn't fail.

Mo Xi and Gu Mang are characters that I both love and respect. In fact, Gu Mang is one of my best friend's protégé (in this parentheses, I want to cheer on her because she had to bear with my curses on a certain character at 5:00 a.m.)

Yuwu is a novel that shows the cruelty of slavery. It makes feel horrified when you read the pain slaves have to go through —people of high class often forgot that they were humans, just like them. The fight for their rights is depicted in the book and the way it was managed with was immaculate.

Yuwu also has two of my favourite things in novels: politics and cultivation. There are a lot of intrigues, and I want to mention that this novel is connected with 2ha and if you have read said book before, you'll understand more about the character's origins.

Did I cry? For God's sake, this is a novel by Meatbun. I remember I was traveling with my family when I was reading the last chapters and I was this )( close to cry in public. Meatbun just has a way to get into your heart with her words.

This is my most recently read novel, and the first thing I want to say is that YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO THIS BOP NOW. Pozhen help this novel get its five stars.

Fanservice Paradox is about a boyband! I actually stan BTS, and Kaleido sort of make me thing about them because they both started in a small company and now they're superstars love by millions of people!

Zhichu knows how to write that tension between her characters. It was so satisfying reading it —you end up shipping them as hard as TingJue fans!

This book also has a lot of philosophical and mathematical thinking. Fang Juexia has a degree on mathematics and Pei Tingsong is a student of philosophy. Their studies have a lot of influence on the way they view life and they make you reflect.

🎋 —TGCF.

TGCF holds a special place in my heart. I read it when I was going through a hard moment in my life, and it helped me a lot.

I didn't know I could cry so much reading a novel until Hua Cheng popped up. Yes, that handsome gentleman made me realised I wasn't as strong as I thought. There moments I was doing OK and then I thought about him and I had tears in my eyes, I'm not lying.

And guys, there's a reason why Xie Lian is Hua Cheng's only god —he makes you want to worship him once you've gone through all his story (but remember to worship them together so that your wishes come true!)

THEIR RELATIONSHIP, OMG. Just one word: devotion.

I liked the way the story is written, with one volume in the present and the other in the past. The arcs are also amazing <3.

I TAKE FULL OFFENSE if you've been following me all this time without reading this novel, seriously, stop what you're doing right now and go read it.

Wushuang is a Qian Qiu's sequel (another amazing novel, by the way), and it has POLITICS AND MARTIAL ARTS. 💖

Feng Xiao is a beauty with amazing martial skills (hey, he even had a fight with Yan Wushi once), and Cui Buqu has the kind of brain you want to kiss. FengCui is my best friend's favourite couple! Although these two aren't the kind to recite poetry, their actions speak how much they care about each other.

The plot is [chef's kiss]. I didn't want to do anything besides reading Wushuang at that time because it was just so addictive.

I remember this novel as the one with the best first chapter I've read in my life, just read the following:

AND THIS IS LITERALLY WHAT YOU FIND WHEN YOU OPEN THE NOVEL. Tell me you if you're not baited.

Nan Chan is a novel that covers the Eight Sufferings in life according to Buddhism in a series of arcs that have characters that make you easily connected with their stories.

The main characters are 🥺. And, oh, this novel has a dragon, A DRAGON. Cang Ji is the best. ♡ And Jing Lin, get behind me, I'll protect you! (said the girl who is 1.50 m tall). Reading their wedding was literally one of the best things that could happened in my life.

And, ah, how can't I not say this? This novel has the character I hate the most. Tao Zhi, fuck you.

ok ok imo there was defo some planning to the bees becoming canon and to deny that is kinda silly to me. that doesn’t mean that planning and eventual execution was good.

•Yang losing her arm is apparently a “sign of her love for Blake” because of that line Adam had in V3? …I thought y’all despised his ass, when did we start believing a word that came out of his mouth??

•On that note, paralleling the two, when the latter was literally the abuser of the former’s current gf, is…..😬

•Also on that note, the objective infantilizing of Blake. All she really does now is whimper and be meek around Yang until another “bee moment” or until the plot remembers to use her for something. Yes, because turning this once feisty character into this shy nervous little meow meow who can’t even fight on her own anymore after she’s revealed to have been an abuse victim is totally not gross.

•Yang prioritizes her new GF over her little sister who is clearly in a horrible headspace, and when she finally breaks down, instead of attempting to calm her down or console her she steps in front of a COWERING BLAKE and just says “Hey!”. YOU TWO ARE BOTH OLDER THAN HER WHY ARE YOU ACTING LIKE THIS

•The scene in which they finally confess was literally forced out of them by a storm. I…I thought we learned to not do this? Guys? Um…

•The 10 year queerbaiting smugly disguised as “planned from the start uwu” that Voltron Legendary Fucking Defender wishes it could have achieved. Does that mean it was always planned that you’d write your hatesink character to have been a branded child slave? Does that mean it was always planned that you’d write the confession of these two’s love for each other to have been forced out of them? Does that mean it was always planned that you’d confirm your main queer couple two episodes before said couple did nothing to save their 17 year old leader from taking her own life on screen?

•Saying the quiet part out loud when an employee tweeted that “The bee kiss alone hopefully green lights V10.”

•Also, the immediate merchandising of it. Ugh.

Before I go on, no I do not believe the bees were “forced diversity”. No I do not believe Adam was killed to push it (he was killed because the writers wanted a quick way for people to forget how abhorrently racist this show fucking got anyways). •And lastly, May. I also do like May! However, her character is not the problem.

What is the problem with all of this, no mater what, is the people, company, making this show.

Rooster Teeth is not your friend. Rooster Teeth does not care about you, or putting that loving care into representation.

Why are half of the villains disabled? Why are half of the villains in universe minorities? Why are half of the villains POC? Why are half of the villains a combination of two or all three of those traits?

Why is the only freedom fighting, minority rights organization terrorists? Why does their WOC leader die the scene we meet her? And why is her killer revealed to have been in fucking slavery the same episode he dies on screen in? And why is this organization taken as a serious threat, while two openly racist antagonists are portrayed as goofy and comical?

Why are any and all plus-sized characters portrayed as jokes? Why does the disabled-coded girl get her disability ripped away from her so she can “truly be human”? Why does another disabled character have him losing an arm to mean he’s lost his humanity? Why does this show portray so many misandristic tropes? Why does this show portray so many misogynistic tropes?

Why was this show’s first LGBT character a villain? Why was the next based off a Nazi? Why are two out of their three non-binary characters animals, and why have those two either been “killed” or turned into villains? Why is there only one gay man in this huge cast?

And why is it so many just let it slide that, while before and during the production of the volumes featuring the show’s first transgender character, Rooster Teeth treated and abused that character’s VA like absolute garbage?

Are the lives of those real people less important than those sweet, sweet “bee moments”?

In conclusion, the bees were not forced. I am glad they are canon. But I am not glad that it has nearly managed to conceal all the deplorable shit the racist, homophobic and awful company behind it has done.

hello emily. may i please ask for a recommendation for a yuri manga. i remember you were recommending a vampire one a few months ago

Oh yeah that was "seifuku no vampiress lord", which is really good. Even though it got fucking canceled after one volume and they had to cram 6 volumes worth of content into 2. It's fine. I'm not bitter. I'm not filled with rage. It's about a girl who becomes a vampire and starts sucking her best friends blood in a horny way.

Anyway idk what your preference is but if you want something that's not rushed and badly translated in the second half, I'll give you a few of my other favorites.

"Even if it was just once, I regret it" (also known by its woefully worse title "I can't believe I slept with you") is really good. It's about a girl who gets really drunk after losing her job and sleeps with her lesbian landlord bc she can't afford rent. One of the ones I reread every once in a while.

"Handsome girl and sheltered girl" is about a girl who's incredibly fucking hot who accidentally ends up dating a girl who thinks she's a hot guy. There's a lot of gendery vibes in it. Another reread candidate.

"Bloom into you" obviously. Obviously. It's a masterpiece so if you haven't read it, it's really good. A girl who can't fall in love has to deal with the perfect student council president falling in love with her (specifically because she told her she could never fall in love).

"Bright and cheery amnesia" is about the world's dumbest and horniest lesbian getting amnesia and finding out she's dating a hot girl and being very excited about it. The first couple pages of that used to float around Tumblr so you might've seen them.

"Useless Princesses" is a fuckin, personal favorite bc every single character is really unhinged and the drama between them gets escalated to unnecessary proportions. A girl who gets bullied ends up becoming close friends with the most popular girl in school.

Those are all, iirc, finished works, but there's a couple others that aren't finished yet if you're OK with them.

"After School" I think it's called? Is about a girl who starts kissing another girl after school for no reason. It's good kissing. I reread it every once in a while.

And "I love amy", which. Frankly needs a few trigger warnings probably, bc despite the incredibly cutesy art style, it features things like kidnapping, attempted child murder, killing a dog, child abuse, etc. It's about a very plain looking girl who falls in love with an adorable yandere girl who dreams of kidnapping a cute boy and keeping him in her basement. There is A Lot going on in it but I love it. It starts out feeling pretty het but that's very much changed in recent updates.

he kisses your forehead as you reach the bedroom, with the billowing curtains and sun showers through the windows, the image is so serene. it's almost as if you could stay in this place and relax forever with geto by your side. slowly, he lowers you onto the bed— his large figure leaning over you— and begins covering you in kisses once more. chin. shoulder. chest. he clearly has plans that are going to keep you up for the next few hours.

A couple of snippets from a wip I've been working on.

Impervious

Y/N is a unique individual. She is immune to magic. She can neither wield it nor be affected by it.

Y/N knew she shouldn't be here. Wherever here was, surrounded by people in cloaks and funny hats, carrying wands.

She looked around in awe. Mesmerized by the unusual sights, sounds, and smells. If she hadn't experienced bizarre things all her life, she'd think she was dreaming. But this was no dream. It was a hidden world right under everyone's nose, and only she knew how to find it.

Ever since Y/N was little, she'd seen things she shouldn't, just like everyone else did. Except, unlike everyone else, when the people with their magic wands came and did their little "men in black" trick, making everyone forget, she didn't forget. She never forgot. Not once.

Y/N remembered all the times someone made something appear or disappear. All the odd creatures. Every time, that strange bus raced through London's streets at a breakneck speed. And she understood at a very young age to pretend that she didn't remember.

However, the one thing she never understood, the thought that kept her up at night, was why. Why was she the only one who could remember? What was so special about her?

It was for this reason, when she was 14, that she followed one of them to a pub she'd passed a million times before, never realizing until now that no one but her and those strange people with their strange wands could see it.

Meandering in and out of shops, Y/N took in this mysterious, magical world. Searching for anything that might give her answers, she spotted Flourish and Bots bookshop. She couldn't buy anything, obviously, not having access to the currency used here. But, at least, she could peruse the books and maybe find something relevant.

As she began to cross the street, something slammed into shoulder, causing her to stumble, but then someone grabbed her arm and pulled her upright. Looking up, she found herself staring into the freckled face of a tall, ginger-haired boy.

"You ok?"

"I--yeah. I think so," she said.

"Yeah?"

"Yeah. I'm g--." Y/N was interrupted by the boy's doppelganger.

"Oi! C'mon George!"

"Sorry, I have to go."

"It's fine," Y/N replied with a smile. "I'll be fine."

At first, Y/N had wished that they'd let Mr. Weasley stay in the room. A friendly face would have eased her nerves.

But, as it turned out, her nervousness was unwarranted. She sat before the Council of Magical Law as one witch or wizard after another attempted to cast various spells on her. None of them worked. Her hair didn't turn green. No boils popped up anywhere. Not even a twinge of an itch from an itching spell thrown at her.

They'd been at it for hours, and she was starting to get a bit bored and sleepy when a syrupy-sweet voice oozed across the room.

"I think, perhaps, we should try something a little stronger," the toadish woman said, with a condescending little giggle.

Rising from her seat, Madam Toad made her way to the floor where Y/N was sitting. She noticed a few people casting worried glances her way, then turning to whisper frantically to their neighbor.

'Guess they're bringing out the big guns,' Y/N thought, yawning and sat up a little straighter.

Madam Toad's smile was as sweet as honey, but her eyes held a malevolent gleam. "Imperio!" she shouted, her wand pointed directly at Y/N as the room fell into a deadly silence.

"Imperio!" the woman shouted again, stepping closer.

"Imperio!"

Closer.

"Imperio!"

Still nothing. The poor woman looked like her head might explode.

"Crucio!" she yelled, the wand inches from Y/N's face.

"Crucio."

Y/N yawned, followed by her stomach growling at such an indelicate volume that the sound echoed around the cavernous room. "Was that spell meant to make me hungry? If so, it might've worked."

Madam Toad looked apoplectic.

"Guess not." Y/N sighed.

The witch turned and looked at the man who introduced himself as the Minister of Magic. The tension in the room was so thick you could cut it with a knife. After a long moment, the Minister nodded.

Madam Toad looked absolutely sadistic when she turned back to Y/N.

For the first time, a chill trickled down the muggle girl's spine.

The toad woman aimed her wand right between Y/N's eyes.

"Avada Kedavra!"

Y/N sat there blinking at the unhinged woman who kept screaming Avada Kedavra over and over until the Minister boomed, "That's quite enough!"

Madam Toad stuck nose in the air and stepped back.

"Did you feel nothing, child?" the Minister asked.

"Not a thing," Y/N replied. "Unless you count hunger. Well, that and my butt is getting sore from sitting in this chair for hours on end."

here's a little rant about some elements of the incubi + succubi marcille adventures taken as a combo which no one asked for

in the encounter with the incubi the story sets up marcilles deepest fear: death as something she has no control over and which comes for all her loved ones first. the events in the chapter consist in a good ol' nightmare: teeny tiny child marcille tries running from the unrelenting, ugly monster with a doll thats not quite her best friend anymore because she failed a spell. But with the help of her faithful companion laios/the dog she boinks the monster with the newly obtained super powerful and awesome rare arcane spellbook. At the end of the chapter marcille recalls only the aftermath of the nightmare, that is only the good dream: marcille herself still a kid, having a fun adventure looking for a treasure with her dog, her doll and her book. at some point theres a castle. the resolution and aftermath look like a sterotypical fairy tale, a fantasy that is childish and joyful and carefree. we start to see that marcille's own frames of reference for something as foundational as overcoming her deepest fear are pretty much literary, if not romantic (in the broad sense), all stuff shes lifted from the vast amount of fiction shes read.

now, this isnt good analysis etiquette, since this bit is technically not part of the story itself, but it's relevant: in the supplementary gag about the incubi at the end of the volume, the steaming incubi show some more of marcilles' older dreams which consist in a seemingly endless soap opera which just goes on and on and on - so much so even marcille loses interest - and in which mr dashing elf guy with the eyepatch makes his first appearance. again, marcille dreams of romantic drama which no dobut shes paraphrased from her books.

we see marcille consciously applying a romantic and literary scheme to the real world in the bicorn chapter, when she guesses chilchuck's marital situation based off a couple of sentences, random gossip she's heard and books.

finally, her experience with the succubus: this monster goes digging in the subconscious looking for something that attracts you irresistibly. now, its not explicitly stated that this something must be your deepest desire, and looking at chilchuck's and marcille's succubi you would think that's not necessairily the case: they just seem like random sexual and/or romantic fantasies. however, you can easily make the case that laios' succubus touches on something extremely essential to laios' life experience thus far by pointing out he wants to be something other than human. so, if they cant go the horny route, they can go for a form thats still intimate and close to ones heart - which I don't want to call "deepest desire" for reasons, but it's close to it - and if theres sexual connotations to it thats even better. well, I argue that despite being played for laughs, the latter is the case for marcille, too, and depending on how much youre willing to read into it, it sheds a darker light on the scene.

ok, so, the succubus takes the form of - you guessed it - mr dashing elf with the eyepatch from the incubi afterword, who is now blonde, riding on a white horse and surrounded by vfx of roses and sparkles. he dismounts, chides "princess" marcille for "running away from the castle again" and holds out his hand so that he may kiss hers - read, so that the succubus may suck marcilles life energy. this is, once again, marcille's corny books coming to define what kind of fantasies she's into, and chilchuck, recognizing it for what it is, rofls because it is embarrassing and it is cheesy etc. that is all true and its ridiculous, marcille is ridiculous for finding this in any way attractive.

however, theres two interesting details about mr dashing elf guy which feel out of place: the eyepatch and the gorget + cape thing. lets start with the last one: the gorget is the only piece of metal on the guy, the style looks the same as the dullahan bringer of death that comes up in the previous chapter*. as for the cape, it has a floral print on it, but its edges are all torn. like the dullahan. this might just be there to convey the feel of a charming yet adventurous spirit who isnt afraid to get his hands dirty. but he wears gloves over his delicate hands and his boots and white pants are spotless. and then of course we have-

-the eyepatch. it is cool and it covers a scar thats designed to be as cool as possible, it looks like lightning, but its still a pretty ugly scar that takes half of the otherwise beautiful face of mr dashing. but whats of interest is the word thats sewn on the patch: "death". again, it might just be a trashy detail on a pile of trashy archetypes, but given that marcille has a pretty intimate relationship with it, I personally feel safe betting that mr dashing is death itself. a lame bishonen version of it, but still death.

this means in the succubi chapter, the incubi chapter is called back not only via the character of mr dashing elf guy with the eyepatch, but also through the reference to marcille's fears in the context of *checks notes* her sexy fantasies. ooh now that's good. this means that in her subconscious marcille sublimates and exorcises her anxieties about losing her loved ones through a cringey power and sexual fantasy ripped straight off melodramatic romantic novels in which she, as the princess of death, is in the position to command it as she pleases and in which yet death chooses to pursue her specifically because she cant help but escape the castle. and this pursue is gratifying to her, maybe because death is thus excluding to pursue... everyone else. marcille kinda gets off on the thought of having all the power of (life and) death in her hands so that it serves her and her only and never goes after those she cares about, even if she's aware of the element of danger involved in this. and she does so in her usual, dorky, way, even subconsciously: through the lens of her beloved cheesy romances. everyone may make fun of her for it, but how else is a girl gonna cope with the inevitability of losing her loved ones, huh?

*which coincidentally ALSO deals with marcille's "dream" which as we know is tied to her fear of death rapidly coming for her friends and family. "it's all coming together" <- something you could say about anything any time after volume 3 of dunmeshi tbh

Ranking how easy each linked universe link would be to cosplay!

1-5, 1 being hard, 5 being easy

First up to bat is Sky!

So there's a lot of ways to approach his outfit. I think his shirt, pants and boots could easily be thrifted. Earrings too probably. Hack up a green shirt and put it back together with some slits and there you go. His white undershirt seems pretty simple too, minus the blue, but I'll come back to that.

The red wrap+belt might be a tad more difficult, I could argue for making the red wrap out of a base or from scratch. The cape though, make that from scratch. Thrift some white bedsheets and make a simple cape. You've got a lot of options for his blue designs. Vinyl appliques, topstitch some blue fabric, paint, even embroidery if you're crazy (like me lol)

I don't think his wig would be... Terribly difficult? He's just got chin length hair and bangs. I just feel like it would be hard to get volume into it and keep it from looking flat and lifeless.

The chainmail is where I stop bc. I know nothing about chainmail in cosplays. How make it? I met a guy once who made his own chainmail by individually twisting metal wire around itself for each loop, and I think that is utterly insane. I embroider and I don't even have the patience for that. But I wouldn't know an easier way to do that so ¯⁠\⁠(⁠°⁠_⁠o⁠)⁠/⁠¯

Overall Sky gets a 4/5 his base outfit is pretty darn simple with some minimal sewing knowledge required if you want it 100 percent accurate. His cape would be fairly easy to paint, so maybe not a beginner cosplay, but not too hard!

Now Four (sword not included)

So Four's tunic is where a lot of the difficulty comes in (clearly lol). I could see fusing four shirts together, but I would be concerned about the way they would fit together being different patterns, different fabrics, ect ect. I would probably not bother and just make his tunic from scratch. If you want 1000 percent accuracy, you could make his tunic lace up in the front, which would look awesome but is out of my skill set lol. His hood I feel like would need a couple mock ups to get the right shape. His whole tunic actually. It's kinda dress like. The drape is important if ya feel me.

Other things I would make would be his weird belt, his kinestones, and his Ezlo bobble (don't want it to be too heavy or else it would drag down the hood, so no metal = harder to thrift) For his earring I would probably dye a plastic feather.

Now his tunic would require quite a bit of embroidery, which sounds very fun to me, but a nightmare to many others I'm sure.

His wig would be pretty simple, but again I feel like it would be hard to make look good, especially with the headband. I'm not really a wig person so I wouldn't know though.

As for easy things, his tights, boots, and undershirt would be pretty simple to thrift or cobble together 👌

Overall Four gets a 2/5. Definitely not the easiest out there. There are ways you could make it easier on yourself, but there's quite a few skills you need to even start.

It's time for Time! (Kaepora Gaebora not included)

Oh Time buddy where do I even start...

Let's start with the easy stuff. His underclothes are super simple. Just black turtleneck and black pants. Thrift em, easy.

We've discussed how much I don't know about chainmail, so I'm choosing to ignore that. The boots I think depend on how much you care for accuracy. Brown boots are easy to come by. This particular style? Not so much. I've only ever modified shoes via paint so I wouldn't know all that much here.

With time's wig, I think the biggest thing would be getting his bangs right. I think using that combing backwards technique would work well, but I haven't used it so idk

Ok ok let's address the elephant in the room. I have no idea how to make armor. I know there's a lot of different methods, I've never used any of them, I don't know. Armor isn't necessarily gonna be harder than embroidery, but my complete lack of knowledge might tank time's score a bit.

For time I'm gonna give a 1/5. You gotta know quite a bit of cosplay stuff for this guy. I've done about four cosplays now, and I look at him and shudder in fear. Do Time if you're good with armor and chainmail.

Let's go downfall boys, starting with Legend (seasons rod not included)

I think legend's might be one of the most fun (for me lol) I could easily see both his tunics starting as thrifted bases which you hack up to fit the design a bit more. If you wanna be lazy, just find a blue beanie for his hat lol. If not, it's just a standard link hat but blue.

For his shoes, basically find some brown books and add some feathers. For his weird belt maybe buy a Hufflepuff scarf 😆. His bracket and rings could be super fun to thrift and modify if you're into that.

Now, admittedly, you would have to embroider stuff for legend, which hikes up the difficulty a lot lol. But whoopsie ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

I think his wig would be super fun. I don't know much about dying wigs, but this could be a fun project to learn about it bc it's such a small, low stakes section of his hair.

Overall, Legend gets a 3/5. The required embroidery makes things difficult, and modifying some bases to fit could be a bit hard, but overall seems like a super fun cosplay to put together.

The hero of Hyrule!

Ok so I feel like a lot of this outfit could be thrifted and modified. Just buy the pants, find a brown shirt and add yellow accents, maybe tear the sleeves off a green shirt, dip the neckline, and open the bottom up. Not too bad. I could see the boots being easy too. The gloves is where I'm not sure on. I've never actually made gloves bc I'm not good at sewing tiny, form fitting things. So I'm kinda ¯⁠\⁠(⁠°⁠_⁠o⁠)⁠/⁠¯

I think his potions could be fun to make. Of course, he doesn't have them in the comic, but hey it could add some depth to the costume. Just buy some glass bottles and line the insides with different paint colors. Could be a fun afternoon.

I'm not really sure where to start with his wig. Fluffy wigs are hard to make fluffy as far as I'm aware. Synthetic hair tends to lay quite flat. But I've seen ppl curl them, I know it's possible, but I don't really know how. So this is gonna be a "do your own research" thing.

Overall, debating between 4 or 5/5 for Hyrule. I think his getup is as hard as you make it really. If you go all out in accuracy, probably a 4. If not, a chill 5. Probably the simplest you'll get from the lu boys.

Child timeline with Twilight!

Not the chainmail 😭 we've established I simply do not know. I am actively ignoring it. Anyways, his under clothes are just white/cream pants and shirt, easy, thrift store. His tunic could be pretty simple, just take a green Tshirt, cut some slits, and transfer a dark green sleeve from another shirt and boom you got twilight tunic. The wrap wouldn't be to hard, basically the same as sky's so I'm just gonna move on.

I think if you don't wanna go to hard, his boots are easy, just get brown boots, thrift stores my beloved. But, on the other hand, twi's a cowboy, his boots gotta be intricate! I don't know much about shoes so I couldn't say how but y'know ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

Twilights hair is basically the same as Time's in the bang's swoop being important. I think you could do it with a tutorial on wig styling 👍

So his wolf pelt... I'm not quite sure what to think. I know they make fabric that mimics fur, but the idea of letting that furry monstrosity near my sewing machine is giving me chills. I would have to clean it out after ever seam. I dunno man I'm afraid of that fur 😆

Let's give twilight a... 3/5? I'm really not sure what to do with his chainmail and wolf hoodie, but the rest of him doesn't seem too terrible. Basic sewing knowledge needed

The best timeline adult timeline with Wind!

Ok I lied when I said Hyrule was as simple as we were gonna get. Wind is challenging for that spot. Let's break this down. He's got a greenish undershirt, orange capris, and black booties. Thrift em.

Like four, most his difficulty comes in the tunic. But unlike four, you've got a lot of options. For legend and four, I only mentioned embroidery for their tunics because I don't know if other methods would look good in such small details. but with sky and wind, you can basically do whatever you want! Alter a blue shirt (or maybe dress with the length of his tunic) to fit the neckline and slit. Then, for the details, you could do embroidery (you're crazy, but sure), white fabric topstitched on (mostly worry about the curves), vinyl (again, you're crazy, but sure), even paint (underrated option in my opinion)!

His wig seems pretty easy, again just getting it to be fluffy is the issue. And that's one I can't help you with lol.

You could basically stop there, but if you want some finer details, the spoils bag would be a fun felt project, his swirl belt buckle seems like a job for polymer clay and paint, and I think a bead + gold wires and some kind of pink see through sheet could make a very cute joy pendant.

Another case of "as easy as you make it" let's give wind a more solid 4/5 since it's maybe slightly harder than Hyrule.

Nebulous timeline placement with Warriors!

Hhhhhhhhh I'm crying what. Chainmail, armor, and custom shoes???? Just kill me now.

Ok ok so we all know how I feel about chainmail and armor, I'm gonna leave those alone. He's got the same under clothes situation as twilight just white shirt and pants. His tunic I could see as a modified dress or very large shirt. Make the v neck the deepest v in the world lol.

He has... So many belts. I've not been mentioning belts unless they're weird bc, again, thrift store. But I. I think you're gonna buy out the whole store's worth of belts my goodness. But yes, you can modify belts to fit the areas he's wearing them.

His amazing scarf cape kind of scares me. It's too beautiful, it relys so much on the drape, and I am but a poor soul on the internet. Buuuut I could see maybe a deep blue knit fabric, or even just blue bedsheets at, again, the thrift store. I dunno what the orange is, if it's embroidery or what. I'd find a reference of it, but it's midnight and I've already spent way too long on this lol

The shoes... Like ok they're cool conceptually with them being a reference to historical army shoes. But you're not gonna find those out and about. Luckily, I think if you took some brown boots and did some cut outs in the back, you could get a similar affect.

Finally, his wig also kind of scares me bc his hair is so nice, but this one seems simple with some bangs styling required 👍

Overall warriors is getting a 1/5. I don't think he'd be as hard to make as time, but definitely harder than four with the shoulder armor, customized tunic, cape, and customized shoes.

Last but certainly not least, the Wild child!

So wild is basically a cartoonized version of his botw self, and there's plenty of botw link tutorials out there if you want some more advice. But! He doesn't seem too bad. He's got the white underclothes deal, easy to thrift. his tunic could just be blue with your choice of white applique like wind. You could be extra and do the dualing colors. Can't remember if wild keeps that design element in the comic itself, but it's neat! Basically Frankenstein two shirts together. The only concern would be how the different fabrics interact and how the differences in pattern and sizing interact. But with only 2 pieces it shouldn't be too bad.

His boots are as simple as you make them. If you want the orange flap, I could see it made out of some wiggly foam and painted. His arm wraps are basically any grey fabric in strips so I'll leave that to your disgression.

His cape doesn't seem all that hard, your choice of applique on the back, make it out of a simple cape pattern, basic sewing knowledge maybe required.

Honestly my mind concern is his wig since long wigs are always such a pain. But styling wise, looks pretty simple.

Overall, wild gets maybe a 3/5? About on par with legend, maybe a bit harder. Or maybe not necessarily harder than legend, but more effort.

Bonus Malon bc I love her

Another case of as hard as you make it. I don't think it would be too hard to find a pink skirt and white shirt. If you want it too be accurate, you'd have to do some finagling, but it wouldn't be too bad. Her waist wrap is similar to sky, and whatever that brown drape from her belt is doesn't seem to hard. Her yellow cape thing could honestly just be like a square of yellow fabric, it's all in how it's tied.

Shes another, simple shoes, unless you consider this is a cowgirl, they gotta be good wink wonk. but not actually, make it as hard as you want lol.

Honestly, her wig is what scares me most. She's got the time bangs and the long hair.

Let's give malon a 4 or 5/5 like Hyrule. As easy as you make it! Quite a range you can get while still having it look good.

Hey guys! It's like 3am, but I've been working on Once Upon a December for a while. I don't have any new chapters...

But what I do have is a deleted scene from the last chapter 👀

It's basically just an alternate version of the borrowers' first meeting with the humans. I wasn't completely happy with it, and ended up scrapping that version, but I still have it :)

It starts basically just after Techno sees benchtrio after Ranboo stumbles into the glue trap!

“Phil!” he called. “Phil!”

A couple of seconds later, there was a sound of a door, then hurried footsteps. Instead of Phil, Wilbur popped his head into the kitchen. 

“Tech?” he asked, sounding groggy but worried. “Are you ok? Why are you calling for dad?” 

Techno pointed at them. Ranboo was shaking again as Wilbur followed his finger, eyes going wide when he saw them. His eyes darted back and forth, and his mouth was wide with shock. He took several steps forward, quickly getting far closer than Techno had. 

Ranboo whimpered, hearing a similar sound from both his friends. Tommy leaped even farther forward, waving the needle around like a mad man. Wilbur jerked back slightly, but was still terrifyingly close. 

“You stay back too, fucker! Bastard, dickhead!” Tommy spewed. “I’ll kill you!” 

“Techno? Wilbur? What’s going on?” 

The third human had shown up. Ranboo hadn’t even heard him come in. He didn’t even need one of the others to show him, he saw them instantly, blue eyes locking onto them like a target. 

“What the fuck?” Phil said, sounding a little winded. 

“Th-they’re so small,” Wilbur blurted. His eyes shifted slightly, and suddenly he was looking directly into Ranboo’s eyes. Ranboo was paralyzed with fear, unable to look away until Wilbur looked back towards the other humans. He squeezed his eyes shut, and hunched his shoulders, trying not to cry more than he already had. 

“They’re- one is stuck,” said Wilbur, “in a glue trap. Phil, what the hell? Why’d you get a glue trap?” 

A wave of dread washed over Ranboo. Trap… had they… had they set this up to trap one of them? Had they known the borrowers were there? He felt another stab of panic. If so, they’d succeeded… at least partially. Ranboo was caught, but Tubbo and Tommy could get out of this. 

“Run,” he whispered to Tubbo, who immediately shook his head. “Please.” 

“Not leaving you,” Tubbo said firmly, though his voice was shaking as much as he was. He stepped a little closer. 

“What do you mean ‘why’d I get a glue trap,’ they were the only ones! What’s wrong with glue traps?” Phil said, sounding baffled. 

“What’s wrong with- have you ever even googled moustraps before, Dad?” 

“Mousetraps…” Techno muttered, sounding slightly dazed. “They definitely aren’t mice.” 

“I thought they just stuck and you could release them outside!” Phil said. “They’re no-kill traps, right?” 

The two humans kept arguing, and Tommy slowly backed up. When he was right in front of them he whispered, “Can you drag the thing he’s on, Tubs?” 

“No, it’s too heavy,” Tubbo replied in the same volume. 

“You have to leave me,” Ranboo told them in a shaky voice. “Even if you could get me off of this thing, I twisted my ankle. I can’t walk.” 

“No!” “Never!” the two hissed at the same time. 

“Please, at least one of you should run, please,” Ranboo begged. His eyes burned and he felt nauseous. He couldn’t be the cause of their deaths. Anything but that. 

“Tubbo, you should go,” Tommy said instantly. 

“Fuck no,” Tubbo growled. “You should. You’re the better climber, you have the best chance of escape.” 

Movement from past them caught Ranboo’s eye. He gasped as Techno slowly moved closer to them. He met Ranboo’s gaze slightly, and the borrower flinched. 

“Guys?” he said, and suddenly Techno was right there, looming over them. His shadow completely covered them, and Ranboo was terrified he would reach out and crush them in a single hand. 

His arms moved, and they all flinched, Tommy holding up the needle defensively. He didn’t reach out to grab or kill them though, simply raising his hands palms outwards like a gesture of surrender. 

“Uh, it’s ok?” he said, sounding unsure. Phil and Wilbur had stopped arguing, and were watching them with open curiosity. Having three sets of human eyes on him was terrible and Ranboo shuddered. 

“Do you… need help?” Techno asked, gaze flicking to where Ranboo was stuck. His hand shifted slightly, as if he were about to reach out. Ranboo inhaled sharply, trying again to jerk away but failing. Tommy lunged, slashing the needle towards the human’s hand. Techno was out of reach, but he pulled his hand back anyways. 

“Don’t you fucking touch him,” Tommy snarled. Tubbo’s lips curled, and he bared his teeth at the humans, moving forward to put more of himself between the giants in front of them and Ranboo. 

“Ok, let’s all just calm down,” Phil said in a voice Ranboo might have found soothing if not for the source. The older human reached out, tugging Techno back slightly. Ranboo couldn’t bring himself to feel relieved that the pink-haired human wasn’t looming over them anymore while still pinned by the gaze of all three of them. 

“Nobody’s going to hurt you. We just want to help,” Phil promised. But it was a promise the borrowers couldn’t believe, one they couldn’t keep. Even if they truly meant no harm- and how could they when they’d set up such a trap?- the humans could hurt them so easily, purposefully or otherwise. 

“I think we got off on the wrong foot,” said Wilbur. He’d backed off some, but he stepped a little closer now, keeping his hands up and away from them. “I’m Wilbur. That’s my dad, Phil, and my brother, Techno.” 

They stayed silent, none of them making any moves to offer their own names. The silence stretched a little awkwardly, then Techno leaned towards his twin. 

“They probably already know our names,” Techno muttered. Ranboo felt a jolt of panic. “You’ve been living in the vents, right?” 

There was a damning silence. Ranboo exchanged panicked looks with his friends. From everything he’d heard, humans were territorial, very protective of their homes. Even borrowers would kill invading pests, driving out the ants and termites with weapons and fire. To the humans… the borrowers were the pests. If the humans knew they’d been secretly living in their house… 

“We’ll leave,” Tubbo said quickly. “You’ll never see us again, just let us go.” 

The humans exchanged confused looks. Ranboo watched with bated breath as they processed that. 

“You’ll- You’re free to leave whenever you want, mate,” Phil said softly. “But your friend- brother?- he’s caught in the glue trap. And it doesn’t look like you plan on leaving him, yeah?” 

Dread curled in Ranboo’s stomach- he was right. He was caught. And, since he knew deep down that no matter how he begged neither of his friends would leave him behind, they were too. 

“You leave him the fuck alone,” Tommy snapped, his tail lashing with agitation. 

“Hold on, mate, I think you’re misunderstanding me,” Phil said, hands raising defensively. "

And that is where I gave up on this scene! I do miss a couple of things from this version, mainly just seeing a bit more interaction with the humans and Tommy and Tubbo. There was some in the final version, but Ranboo's a bit out of it during that.

All in all, I definitely prefer the final version. It hits a lot harder and just flows better, especially in the beginning where Phil and Wilbur show up.

All-Star Superman - Morrison/Quitely (I really like this a lot, but I do feel it kinda is off base with what's appealing about Superman to me. it takes Superman and really spins him as a mythical god level figure, to the point where Lois refuses to believe he's Clark and... what the story is is very good. but Superman being regular ol' Clark at the end of the day is what makes him so wonderful to me. This is absolutely a Superman that pretends to be Clark Kent. feel like that's a big distinction. lex's characterization is PHENOMENAL though, SO good.)

My Adventures with Superman Season 1 (it's phenomenal. like spectacular spider-man levels of good. The voicing, animation, designs, writing, it's ALL here. the overarching plot is also particularly capturing in this show, which sometimes fails to be the case for some superhero shows! i will say that i start to dislike SOME elements of the overarching plot introduced in Ep. 7 and beyond, but they don't diminish my love of this show very much at all. cannot WAIT for season 2 foaming at the mouth, chomping, zinging around my room etc)

alright! so that just took me like an hour and a half. but that kinda stuff is what i think i wanna do with this blog for now! so if that's your cup of tea keep hanging around! and if it's not... well there's always a chance i decide to change it again so idk your call.

I have so many thoughts in my head after read ‘I Want to Hold Aono-kun so Badly I Could Die’ AKA 青野くんに触りたいから死にたい, 想要觸碰青野君所以我想死. Whew what a long title in both languages. After a recommendation from a youtuber I follow I gave it a read, as supernatural shenanigans are my JAM.

And this was top tier jam for me.

Here’s the official summary: I would die if it would allow me to touch you. That is my love. Airhead Yuri-chan and her boyfriend Aono-kun had a perfectly normal relationship until one day Aono-kun suddenly “passed away” … They will never be bound together, and they cannot even touch. This is their difficult and almost too sincere love story.

I absolutely loved it. I immediately went scouring the internet for reviews or even just thoughts of the manga. But I barely got any reviews that reviewed all 8 volumes of the english release, and adding reddit to the end of the title just gave me posts of people wanting to talk about it with others with zero responses or just a general recommendation. Maybe because it’s in Kodansha’s digital jail? Who knows.

This is me screaming into the void about how much I love the series. I hunkered down and reread it for the next couple of days savoring it. I think because of how hard it is to find media that I really enjoy these days, I tend to obsess for a good while.

OK, I won’t deny the art isn’t going to be winning any awards anytime soon. However, rather than being rough, I would say it’s simple. It doesn’t look bad in my opinion, but it also doesn’t stand out much. I read a review where he felt the art would be something you’d see in a comedy series rather than a horror romance series. I agree, it kind of reminds me of ‘Yugami-kun Doesn’t Have Any Friends’ art. To be fair there is quite a bit of comedy in the series. I feel the art does get better in the more recent chapters, some chapters have stunning panels (when Yuri is chasing dark Aono, and the dream she had come to mind), and the covers are beautifully done as well.

And this may be a pro just for me but it doesn’t feel that male gazey if that makes sense. Being a seinen I’m not surprised sex is brought up within the story. Yuri’s underwear is seen a few times, but because the art is simple it doesn’t feel gratuitous. It could also be because the author is a woman tho (I believe the author is a woman as mangaupdates list her as a female and Umi Shiina sounds like a woman’s name). I feel where a more fanservicey inclined author would show more, Shiina shows us enough to get the gist of their love/lust and cuts to the next scene. ALSO rather than feeling like fanservice the racier bits feel more like horny pent up teens being uhhhhh horny pent up teens. They can’t even touch, I’m not surprised they get all frisky when they can LMAO.

Here’s where I’m gonna word vomit my spoilery thoughts, as I think volume 9 won’t be out till the end of the year (probably I’m just guessing after looking at their past release schedule) so I want to refer to this if I forget.

Also this is a stream of consciousness in retrospect. I honestly don’t expect anyone to read this LMAO.

Ok so, I wonder about the beginning of their relationship. Yuri fell for him because he was nice to her literally once. In all honesty I suspect this is the first time someone was nice to her in years given her sister. So while her response to Aono’s kindness is honestly out of proportion, I wonder what the timeline was for her older sister. So long as her older sister lived with her, Yuri could not form any meaningful or healthy relationships. Yuri has very low self worth I think? I believe her sister is seven years older than her, yuri I believe is 16 (or 17?) at the start so her sister is what 23 or 24? And it seems she had left home for a year already (don’t quote me on this tho lmao) for her job before she quit and came back for whatever reason in recent chapters. I have no idea if she commuted to college from her house or if she lived elsewhere during her university years. I’m guessing she commuted to college maybe? maybe??/??? Idk. I’m just thinking, why was Yuri in her 2nd year of highschool (so like 11th grade?) without any friends. The flashback of her during elementary school shows why that was the case, as her sister guilt trips her and makes ultimatums when Yuri tries to hang out with her friend, causing Yuri to come across as unreliable and flaky to her peers. I could see her doing that during middle school as well… but her first year of high school… hmmm. Perhaps at that age it’s simply hard to make friends after a certain point. It could also be that though Yuri may not be conscious of it, she perhaps had a habit of remaining distant from her peers. I guess it’s not too surprising she ‘imprints’ (aono’s words not mine lol) on Aono after their encounter. She is a teenage girl after all, it’s not weird that even though she seems to be a bit of a loner, she is gung ho at the thought of dating a nice boyfriend. And the timing perfect, as her sister wouldn’t be around to fuck shit up… Though I will say, Yuri normalized her sister’s behavior at this point so idk.

Aono on the other hand is an enigma, especially after the recent revelation from his younger brother (teppei). Thinking about it more however, we know that they were not close at the time of Aono’s death (not in the sense they hated each other, though I’m sure teppei holds mixed/bitter feelings towards aono, I get the impression they were simply distant). However I thought about it more because I like to think a lot apparently, and I stupidly realized that a traffic accident in Japan ain’t the same thing as one over here. I know Aono couldn’t drive, so the only way to explain his death is that he was hit by a car. No one said it was a car accident and the rest of his family is fine as well. However that still doesn’t mean he committed suicide for sure though. I mean he could have, but it could have been an accident. Only Aono knows at this point. And Teppei already has his own misconception of Aono, though ofc I don’t blame him. But I wouldn’t say he understands the inner workings of aono’s mind better than Yuri or even fujimoto.

But if he did commit suicide it does spin things around right???? When I reread the first chapter I wonder if it was guilt he was feeling when he realized his suicide would cause Yuri to attempt suicide? Or was he just feeling bad in general about being the cause of her suicide attempt. He is a nice dude after all but HMMMMMM. Also thinking about it there is a general theme of … anti suicideness (ok DUH)?? Anti lonerness??? I mean I guess you could say the power of friendship…… but it’s more like, “you guys are not alone in this, and we will all try to figure out a way to fix the situation” ok I guess it's the power of friendship. But the story/characters point out when Yuri’s selfless and thoughtless (as in, so long as it only harms me idc) actions cause harm to others. Or when she says to Hirota that he doesn’t have to feel sorry for those who harm him. Both Yuri and Hiroto also had similar thoughts when they realized they could see the ghost of their loved ones, they didn’t care what would happen to themselves. And both eventually realize that the consequences of their choices harm more than just themselves.

I have to wonder what aono thought about her during the two weeks they were dating. I get the feeling initially he feels somewhat responsible for her and sticks around because of that after his death. As much as I like Yuri, the girl IS a bit unhinged. But it’s lovely to see them grow as people, and their attempts to make their relationship more healthy. There is some drama/tension in their relationship because well, aono is dead and as much as they wish for it, they can’t have a normal relationship. And fujimoto is shown to have feelings for Yuri as well, though at this point he has no plans on acting upon it. But Aono knows so uhhhh. 

Back to aono tho woops. There's his mother. I truly have no idea how accurate teppei’s claim that aono killed her is. Whatever the case, it was deemed a suicide. This was 5 years ago I believe? I don’t really know if a 12/11 year old can coerce someone into suicide. (Though I will say aono does mention he’s not as nice as he seems. Perhaps he feels guilt for his role in her death? If he even had one. He was like 10 ok. Not saying that he couldn’t have been mean to her, but his mom seemed unstable to begin with.) Or hide a murder. Their relationship was giving off incest vibes as well. Hate to get all jungian or whatever but the odd relationship with his mother probably explains why Aono was a crazy magnet. What’s really mysterious is… the ghost of her that we see. It’s weird. If we are to take Horie’s theory about ghosts as absolutely correct (tho who knows, maybe we’ll be proven wrong later) then it can’t be her, rather an offshoot of Aono for some reason. Perhaps his mother’s suicide formed a contract between them, but I don’t think different ghosts can interact with each other in this setting. Dark Aono said that if Yuri were to die, they’d never see each other again, somewhat confirming this theory. And in the small epilogue for Sota, it looks like he couldn’t see anyone in his world, and I doubt anyone could see him. Though I noticed he seemed to have a shadow. Whatever this ultimately means though… no clue. But it’s weird as when aono’s mother initially appears, neither of them can see her. Also when Yuri is possessed, she keeps seeing his mother (well… her feet lmao), and dark aono even seems scared/wary of her? He makes sure that Yuri hides from her so there’s that.

BUT ALSO, I think only Yuri is able to form a contract with ghosts. The ghost girl’s grandmother mentions that Kariya’s have some kind of relationship with ghosts. And well Yuri is a Kariya. Also don’t know if it’s relevant but perhaps her older brother’s death has something to do with their blood as well. Just spitballing ideas. Still have no clue why when the kid trio saw Aono as some weird dinosaur thing. It’s obvious he’s chilling in her womb for whatever reason though at some point. BUT IN THE BEGINNING. Was he just chilling and checking in on people after he died? WHERE DID HE COME FROM? He popped in at the right moment. I will concede that maybe Sota’s circumstances were not typical for ghosts… so perhaps an average ghost CAN see living people? I keep confusing myself.

I think dark aono is his instinct/inner consciousness as a ghost. Perhaps an entity of sorts? But he seems to reside in Aono’s conscious. Given that the Kariya family is special somehow, maybe it’s some kind of being tied with that. And perhaps the further the contract goes along, the more this dark aono merges with regular aono, as we can see later on Aono seems to be able to be more aware when he’s like that though still not in control. It is weird that dark aono just straight up knows things. Like Kubinashi and the leaving behind half of a pair thing… It initially comes across as inhuman, but as Yuri withholds and takes back her permissions, dark Aono attempts to come across more human. Weird dude. It does beg the question of where ghosts are tho when they aren’t seen. Do they simply suffer alone in their own world like sota seems to have done? Or do they rest in peace at some point? Sota ran off to the sunset seemingly realizing something at the end of the epilogue. I remember he also says he doesn’t really remember what he was doing before Hiroto summoned him. Is there some sort of ghost world? The story bases its mythology off of real world myths and folklore, so I’m curious to see where it will go.
