update on Cold the Night, Fast the Wolves: I looked up reviews for the book on Goodreads and uhh. Uhhhhhhh.

????????????????????????????????...

I'm taking the word "worldbuilding" away from y'all. Please stop. This book barely even has worldbuilding. It's an alien planet and all the animals are the same as Earth animals, except with weird made-up words attached, and the book has yet to explain or describe how they're even different from regular bears, foxes and rabbits.

The politics and culture are vague and developed using preachy infodumping. The planet is controlled by a corporation, and there are "scavvers" which live away from corporate control, and most inhabitants of the planet are prejudiced toward "scavvers." That's it! That's all there is!!

There seems to be a city and there's a forest, but the setting is not described well enough for me to tell how these things are spatially related to each other.

Also can we talk about how the planet is named "Tundar?"

Anyway. These reviewers in many cases seem to be confusing "worldbuilding" with "how vividly the setting is evoked/described," which, okay fine, but...this book's descriptions are the absolute opposite of evocative. They are so ambiguous and non-specific.

Here i've got the book I'll give examples

The protagonist's cloak, which has important sentimental value to her, has strands of "silvery-black" in it, which is important because it's connected to the scavver culture. What material? Why is it significant? How does it connect to her culture? What is it even called?? We don't know!

"She'd sing songs the scavvers passed down for generations, not the corpo-produced ones they play in bars around the Ket...those same melodies haunt my darkest dreams." Okay?? Maybe give more details so I'll care, maybe?

"The ion storms mess with most tech, especially things that send signals." (page 116) I have so many questions about this. It's repeatedly emphasized that Technology Doesn't Work on Tundar...except when it does. The wolves can be tracked down using microchips that transmit signals. The wolf races are televised using drones. All the "technology" (what that means isn't consistent) shown in the story is supposed to be constantly broken down and nonfunctional, but no one has thought to USE DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGY in the "hundreds of years" the planet has been colonized.

"Something messed up when the corporations tried to calm Tundar's environment hundreds of years ago...the terraforming attempt that was supposed to stop the ice just made it worse, along with making all the species bigger and more aggressive." ????? (page 23)

And then there's the "splinter woods." There are "splinter trees" that are constantly trying to take the city back. What do they look like? What are they? Is that the only plant in the "splinter woods?"

The main glaring problem, though, is that the "splinter woods" cover the whole area of the world we're shown...which is constantly and repeatedly referred to as a "tundra."

Did the author not google "tundra???" Did she somehow miss, when researching for this book, that a forest is definitionally not a tundra?

Like???? SGSGVVFGVFGBHFFGfsafghjbfbcv

"I say one of the few scavver phrases that has been adopted into everyday speech." Do scavvers speak a different language?? Are there different languages?? We don't know!!!

Because nothing is ever described specifically or clarified!! The dialogue is both unnaturally infodumpy and so vague. Like, the protagonist says "I can show you guys how to strip some bark from the splinter trees and mix it with a few different herbs." (page 119). I've never read anything like this before. "I tell them which animals most likely make which noises." What do you mean, most likely????

We spend a lot of time with a team of scientists, but it's not actually clarified what their actual fields are. Pana is an "expert in many scientific fields, including medicine. The main scientist says he's "not an animal expert" as if "zoologist" is too difficult to say.

The whole book is like this, whatever "Like This" is.

Let's not forget the "slightly scientific-looking junk."

Like, all the reviewers claim the world is so "vivid" and evocative and when you read the book, literally every description is like, "It looks almost like some sort of thingy."

Oh, on the subject of the cold: In the beginning, the protagonist says something about frostbite scars being distinctive of people that have lived on the planet for a while, and then...any sort of behavioral or technological adaptation to cold is Never Mentioned Again.

Like, I don't get the sense that it is cold. The way the main character dresses, acts, prepares for travel, does not suggest that she's going somewhere dangerously cold. Her cloak gets taken away from her and this is important because she's sad about it, not because the planet is deadly cold like the author tells us. The scientists don't have to wear gear or special clothing to protect themselves from cold.

It's so frustrating to hear this being called good worldbuilding I can't take it

placements with issues in romantic relationships part i.

*(analysis based on my friends & acquaintances)

VENUS SQUARE URANUS - do you get emotionally smothered just by thinking of being in a relationship? it's not that these natives don't want to have deep connections, they want to feel some sort of personal growth within it, regardless of any sort of labels. avoidant attachment style is what i'm getting with this placement with commitment issues. a lot of the people i've sat down with rarely date/don't want to/lack commitment in their relationships.

why don't you date? (i asked these people to refrain from mentioning any external factors that hinder them from relationships & look inwards...they still said them lol. also, i spruced up what they said just for y'all to understand better because these were said to me in a different language with A LOT more profanity)

"there are many reasons. but i think one that correlates to what you're researching is that my feelings are unpredictable. like i mentioned to you, if you remember - sometimes i wake up & feel nothing towards the people i love. i'm scared that will happen too in a romantic relationship"

"i really don't understand this generation. a lot of conflict would be resolved if everyone was honest with what they want. i don't date because i prefer being alone. i actually love it. i don't even know if i want to get married. i used to be the 'date to marry' type (when she was literally 14 lmaoooo) but now i just want to have fun with my friends. i'm not actively pursuing anyone & i'm happy. period"

- friend 2 (at 1° orb)

"b*tch i don't even bother telling my crushes that i like them. i know i'm not even gonna attempt to date them if they like me back HAHA. wayyyy too immature for all that"

"everyone is so focused on romance it's actually disturbing at this point. the people who can't breathe without being in a romantic relationship make me sick. i don't date because i don't like being told what to do. 'oH yOu shoULd'nT tAKE yoUr fri3nD oUt tO dinn3er' or 'yOu shOudLd'Nt huG hiM' , there's just so many unnecessary rules. it's alarming how people care that much about stupid sh*t like that. & turning on my location for you? die"

- acquaintance 2 (at 5° orb)

not all of these natives are single or prefer to be. these people that i analysed have entered relationships at some point but i've seen them end up hiding from/avoiding their partners in the long run. one of my friends literally had to help a friend of ours to break up with their partner because they couldn't bear to even talk to them & felt "suffocated". i think that's why these natives are comfortable with long distance relationships because there's some sort of barrier that prevents them from becoming too close to their partner. these people also love excitement so the thrill & anticipation of meeting up with their person gets them estatic. but as friend 1 said, their feelings are up & down in connections. @elysiansparadise explains this furthermore here.

do you need help? (keep in mind i'm an 18 y.o with little-to-no relationship experience)

relationships aren't always perfect but if you're fully aware of your inconsistency, avoidant attachment style & flaky behaviour, you should at least try to do something about it & have compassion towards those you're involved with. what i've noticed about the people that i analysed, 3/5 deflected from themselves & put the blame on their surroundings as justification. i'm not so sure about other people with this aspect but please look at other possibilities of why you approach relationships in this manner. you could be attracted to another gender, asexual, value platonic love more than romantic love or you have some sort of trauma that's holding you back from pursuing a relationship that needs to be healed.

i suggest identifying if you're emotionally available for any sort of connection & noticing emotional unavailability in others. venus□uranus natives are also prone to being attracted to losers who are emotionally stunted & can't even cater for their own feelings - in which they prefer because they like barriers that keep them from being too close to someone (either physical or emotional distance is their drug). the perfect tiktok video came up on my fyp about emotional availability. being emotionally available & being with someone who's the same is necessary for sustaining a healthy emotional relationship.

do not be rash with the way you feel at the moment. all feelings are temporary & feelings of insignificance should be discussed with your partner open & honest. but if you feel as though your partner is making YOU feel insignificant while denying it, leave. this aspect is not just felt internally so your relationship could have moments of apathy & feels fake as opposed to spontaneity from both parties. also, being mindful about how others make you feel before pursuing them. instead of finding clues on whether they like you, ask yourself if you like them.

take things a bit slow & cherish the moments you have in your connections. remind yourself to be grateful that someone gave you a place to uniquely express your love & theirs to you. & if you feel bored sometimes, incorporate some excitement into your relationship. don't just think about yourself, include your partner in all sorts of fun.

do other harsh Venus-Uranus aspects feel the same or have similar expriences? (another analysis based on someone in my life)

Developed a nasty habit recently of scrolling through fake claiming subreddits (y'all know the ones) and I've noticed quite a bit of bullshit. So here's a list of things that apparently mean you're faking, but are actually just regular activities you might do and correlate or relate to your experience as a system or autistic. I'm also going to give my argument against them in the bullet points. (These are mostly about traumagenic systems but I also mention autism)

1- using dancing as stimming. My reasoning this is wrong is that stims are "repetitive body movements or repetitive movements of objects" and people stim for different reasons. Even neurotypical folk stim. Reasons folk may stim include, but are not limited to sensory reinforcement or stimulation, to regulate sensory input by increasing or decreasing sensory overload, etc. Dancing is a good example of this. It is a repetitive body movement often used to reinforce sensory input or, in my personal situation, increase sensory input when I feel like I need more stimulation. Let me guess, it only counts as stimming when it's violently flapping your arms and fitting into an ableist stereotype, huh?

2- "strange" names. Why should I even argue here? This is just transphobia rewrapped as "calling out fakers." My name is Richie. That is not a strange name, is it? Would I be fake claimed for being an alter? (Probably but not for this.) If my name were Arson, if course I would. However, I chose my name. Many alters/ headmates do. We are individuals and we are allowed to change things about ourselves as we please and this does not suddenly make us fake systems.

3- using neopronouns or multiple pronouns. Same as above. I'm not re-explaining that part. Also plays into ableism. This is why I'd be fakeclaimed. I use he/wolf pronouns (and some others). I'm a man and I highly identify with wolves due to my innerworld self. We are autistic as well and many of us have cat neopronouns due to our special interest in felines and warrior cats. Our brain is wired differently than neurotypical folks in multiple ways and the way we connect to gender and the world is perceived by us in a way different to others, hence us being transgender. Due to our high interest in cats and the fact it ties into most aspects of our life, we ended up identifying with them on a gender level as well.

4- having animal alters. This is a noted thing in DID systems. Do your research before fakeclaiming, jeez. Or just don't fakeclaim.

5- Being alterhuman in any way. Alterhumanity is a thing. Some people are alterhuman. Some people are also systems. There is going to be overlap.

6- Having any fictives from "recent" media. The definition on recent is loose to them. Is Bambi recent? We have a Bambi fictive. Is he too recent for you? Or maybe our fictives from warrior cats are too recent. Fictives exist sometimes, especially in autistic and ADHD systems.

7- having factives. At all. Even though factives are a noted thing in psychology? My therapist has brought up factives (not by that term) without me bringing them up.

8- having littles. Or not having littles. This is confusing to me. I see them mock littles for being too adult but also for being childish! How do you want them to act, then? And when a system doesn't have any littles, somehow this means they are lying about having trauma in childhood.

9- Experiencing a headspace in any capacity. Yes, even just daydreaming one. This is a therapy technique actually taught to systems to help us communicate internally. It's a thing many of us build on our own, in order to communicate. This is normal. It is a noted thing in DID research.

10- you have a singletsona. DID is a covert disorder. It is a common thing to have a single being the whole system masks as. This is normal and cited in research on DID.

11- you don't have a singletsona. Some people want to exist as themselves. This is also normal in DID, especially in those who are aware of their system and are working on communication and healing.

12- you have any online presence. Disabled people exist. Get over it.

13- you talk openly about being a system. Ever. Apparently being open about this part of our life is bad.

14- you haven't been diagnosed. This one pisses me off a lot. Was my mom's cancer not cancer before she was diagnosed with it?

This one's for the dragon media connoisseurs out there.

Everyone cool with hearing me nerd out for a bit? Cause that's what you're getting. Y'all heard of Century: Age of Ashes? If you haven't, you should. It's basically everyone's dragon flying simulator dream, except it's a fast paced, intense dog-fighting style pvp game, where you work in teams of up to six people to collect as much gold as possible, fly a flag as far as you can while being chased, or simply be the last team standing at the end of the round, and get to rub your victory in the other team's face at the end of the round. Example below. Yes, the entire game does look that beautiful. Yes, that is me on the podium. Yes, this is my entire argument for why the game is good. Oh, did I mention it's free? There, that's my argument.

Obligatory mention of the medias that inspired it: the devs have said that the game and the lore took heavy inspiration from cultural icons such as Game of Thrones, Warhammer AoS, and of course How to Train Your Dragon. And surprisingly, this is a little treat for those who love to have a story aspect to their video games: the lore is incredibly well written. Each bit either fleshes out the universe of the game, the timeline of the events in the universe, or the history of the characters themselves. It's featured in item descriptions of cosmetics that can be bought or earned from leveling up. You have your three classes; Marauder, Phantom, and Windguard, and then you have the LORE.

I'm not going to go into detail trying to explain it, but just know that I pride myself on being the (un)official lore-keeper for the Windguards, and I'm happy to talk about it with anyone who's curious. I've been going over it and trying to make connections, and even connect things from the other classes' lore.

And anyway this is all basically a pretty shameless way to plug for a Century fanfic I've written for a canon scene that's mentioned in the Windguard lore. And since I've done my research and there are currently NO OTHER fanfics on the place I posted it (Ao3) and it's not got a huge fanbase, I thought I would make this post to potentially spread the word about the awesome game, and bring some more views in to my own work, for those seeing this who already know what Century is. And heck, even if you don't, I still hope you'll check it out, and be intrigued about the game from reading it, because I did my best to do justice for Century and create a standalone work. (And also the story is pretty easy to follow whether you've played the game or not, because a lot most of players don't read all the lore.) So, if you've gotten this far, and can't do anything besides signal boost, please do so! The game needs it, and I would love to have more people see this work!

Stressful Case

Context: Reader is going over a criminal case, doing an excellently done job, the judge, that has personal connection with them, has a 'talk' with Reader after the case is dismissed.

Warnings: Graphic Descriptions, Mentions Of Abuse, Injury, Assault, Death, Not Recommended For Those That Are Squeamish To Detail.

Note: Y'all do not know how much research I did for this shit, and I'm sure I'm still wrong on some things ahahaha, please spare me :'}

The court has settled down now. Preliminary Hearing ended hours ago and during Arraignment the defendant plead not guilty, making you pinch the bridge of your nose during the recess you had. Your boss, Hina, massages you back. "It's ok, trail is going to be a peace of cake." She mumbles while court is called in. Once everyone is seated you look at the judge and he looks at you. You can tell by his eyes that he wants this to end.

"Alright, Mrs. Mercy, please come to the stand." You say while standing, giving her a look. Going back and forth questioning your witnesses and cross-examining others. After the last witness you stand when they leave the stage and the judge's eye brow goes up. "Can I have the defendant come to the stand?" You ask, the jury gasping. The other attorney stands to object but is cut off with the Judge's booming voice. "I'll allow it." The defendant is now biting their lip while going to the stand. The show begins.

"Mr. Murphey, I heard that this matter is happening because your daughter has been murdered, yet you claim you have no clue who did it?" The silence is threatening, it felt like there was a gun pointed to his head, him feeling as though any lie he tells will get him shot, but he takes the risk. "That is correct.." A frown deepens on your face, fixing it immediately. "Then sir, how do you explain the commentary from your wife and son? Are you say that they are lying? Saying that they've seen you beat, torture, take your anger out on that four year old child. Are you saying they are lying?"

He avoids the question, claiming he has to go through this and so on, but you cut off his babble. "Alright. Are you saying that these pictures of you beating the child with a baseball bat is photo shopped?" The sound of his gulps echo through the court room as he stays silent. "Are you saying these bruises, fractured bones and cigar marks aren't your doing of abuse?" You ask but you don't spare him a sliver of air to speak.

"Sir, I'd let you know that your daughter is dead. And you claim all of this isn't your doing? Alright, what about the multiple phone calls to emergency services for your badly beaten daughter from your wife, son AND neighbors?" He starts on his rant again and says "I'm done talking to you." Blood boiling, you calm down and look him coldly in the eye.

"You're not done talking to me, you're on the stand, you're done talking with me when I have no more questions." There are a few more gasps and he closes his mouth. "So, Mr. Murphey, what about when you put the four year old's body, who is your daughter, in a make shift coffin and threw it down a ravine? Do you not remember that? Even though she was wrapped in 18 LAYERS OF PLASTIC WRAP and 3 layers of tin foil." He hangs his head. "I object, your honor the-"

"Over ruled." He states, the attorney sitting down. "What about the 7 stab wounds in her stomach? Your fingerprints were all over the bloodied knife you attempted to discard and the make shift coffin." The Jury mumbles to each other. "So you haven't been honest, have you? Would you like to admit now that you, Charles Murphey, was the one that murdered your blood tied daughter, Casey Murphey, in front of your family and threatened their life as well."

He's trembling, staying silent. "I rest my case. No more questions." You mumble and sit back down. The Judge returns the back to his role and they start the ending process. You say your ending arguments, the jury decides, the verdict is handled and he's sentenced to death. You sigh softly and when you all leave the building everyone is cheering for you, hugging, patting your back and overall thanking you.

Your phone dings and it's from a friend. "Hey, come to my office, we need to talk." He says and you sigh. Re-entering the building, you look for the office you've been called to only once before. You walk in and there goes the judge, rather your friend. Mitsuya Takashi. Or really, if you were being honest, your boyfriend.

"Hey babe." You mumble but he doesn't say anything. Instead, he engulfs your body into his arms. You stare each other in the eyes and press your forehead to his. "What a difficult case." You mumble, him humming in response. "You were hot out there though, being all professional." You both giggle, rocking back and forth. Your hands held his neck/face [yk what I mean].

There was a comfortable silence between you two, breathing the same air, connecting your souls and bonding hearts. He leans in and his lips softly press against yours, and oh did your heart flutter and flip. And as if he could sense it, he smiles into the kiss, causing you to copy him. "I love you so much Y/n..." He murmurs, pressing your lips together again.

His voice, his touch, even his look. Everything about this man made you fall harder than ever, making you want to marry him already. You sigh contently responding with an "I love you too, Takashi." And with that sentence you sent him to Venus. He was so in love with you, your affection, your smell, your love. In his eyes, you're perfect, and in your eyes he's perfect.

You two complete each other fully, being the other half of him, being his soulmate, he never wanted to let go, and neither did you.

"We should go home..." You mutter softly as to not scare him, he hums yet neither of you move to let go, it was one of the most intimate parts of your relationship, one of your new core memories.

You wished this moment never ended, and he did as well <3

Cookie Run character design analysis pt. 2!

This time I just want to talk about the individual characters and the inspiration behind their designs! Pictures will just point out details in their design but the post text will go into the inspiration and lore behind why they're the cookies they are!

Gingerbrave is obviously based off the classic 'Gingerbread Man' story, where a gingerbread cookie suddenly comes to life and runs away causing mischief for it's maker. This is what likely inspired Cookie Run overall, with cookies defying their bakers and running for their freedom.

Though by the end of the fairytale, the gingerbread man gets tricked and is eaten by a fox. I haven't completed any CR games so I'm not sure how that relates to Gingerbrave (yet), but we'll see... (I'm looking at you Kumiho Cookie).

For Strawberry Cookie, I couldn't really find anything about that directly relates to her design or character. Her design, backstory and personality are very simple so it's hard to pinpoint her inspirations.

Strawberries are often associated with love and relationships, the fruit is even seen as an aphrodisiac. That seems a bit mature for Strawberry Cookie, especially since she's very reclusive and shy

Though she isn't actually made out of any real strawberries, just strawberry extract. Maybe because she isn't actually made of strawberry it makes her personality the opposite of what the fruit represents? IDK, if anyone can tell me more, please do.

[also jam (presumably strawberry jam) is blood in the cookie world, which is probably why Strawberry is ashamed of her flavor, so that means something I guess]

Beet Cookie was also a bit tough to research on. I couldn't find much about Beets that relate to her archery class, mostly just stuff on love and aphrodisiacs again... and dyes...

Beets can also regulate blood pressure and boost stamina, so that's maybe something considering she's an archer. However, her bio always talks about how she can survive anywhere.

Beets grow well in cold weather during spring and fall (which explains her warm attire), fall is usually the season when most plants die. It's also a tuber vegetable which means it grows underground, which keeps it protected from most hazards above like heavy rain. Beets are also kinda hard, so that's one thing.

That's pretty much all I could find, also she's friends with Carrot Cookie which is also a tuber vegetable.

IBlackberry is pretty interesting. Blackberries in Christian belief are said to represent spiritual neglect or ignorace, it's ironic for Blackberry but it's specifically ignorance and defiance of God and christianity. Stuff like psychic abilities, necromancy and anything involving ghosts is viewed as satanic or evil and is seen as an act against God, so that may explain her flavor.

In Celtic beliefs, however, blackberries represent tenacity, fierceness, beauty and reward for hard work. Blackberry is quite beautiful and she is a maid so she works quite hard, which fits the origin (even though her ghosts basically do everything but whatever).

Anyways that's all I have to say! I don't want this post to get too long 😅. It took a lot of time to research this stuff and come up with the connections, Devsisters is much more clever at character design than we thought!

Jikook things

Disclaimer: I am in no way declaring to know for a fact that any of the ships mentioned to be real, I am simply making an analysis. If you do not agree with my opinions I respect that , as we are both allowed to have them. Please read my ramblings with a light heart because the thought of this dynamic came to me suddenly and I got so excited I couldn't stop thinking about how much it would make sense and how cute and warm it all was. Okay now on to what I'm trying to say.

Y'all if the relationship dynamic between Kyungsoo, Jongin, Jimin and Jungkook ever changes and they start to have a closer relationship I'm calling it: Jikook is real.

Why would I think this? Simple. Of all the kpop ships I've ever seen, kaisoo is perhaps the one I'm most convinced, without a conviction in my mind, that they are an item. I won't go in and explain why they're real as it would take way too much time as the reasons are numerous. I mean if you're a Jikook shipper you know that something changed after that Tokyo trip. Something shifted in the dynamic of their relationship, like something about them is more official now, more exclusive. If you've noticed, before Tokyo, KM had more of a flirty vibe and lots of pining after each other. After Tokyo though, there is an air of contentment about them, not like before when everything about them was charged up and electric. Now everything is just fond and soft. So anyway, if they were thinking of having an actual relationship, kaisoo would perhaps be the best place to seek help from, and probably borrow a copy of that "101 Ways to Manage an Idol Relationship" book they should totally publish.
