I've been thinking about modesty from a specifically trans lense lately. I was taught that modesty indicates shame, that modesty means you're simultaneously ashamed of being human and having a human body, but also that you are "purer" because you adhere to a hegemonic idea of modesty. Frankly, I just don't agree with this, and it was very much steeped in the idea of specifically christian ideas of modesty.
Before I transitioned, I felt very unprotective of my body because it never felt like mine to begin with. I didn't really care what happened to it, and while I was modest by other people's standards, I certainly didn't feel it. Once I actually started transitioning (and especially on testosterone), I've found that I'm so much more "modest" because I've become protective of my body. There's this stereotype that trans people start "showing themselves off" after transitioning, but I honestly feel the opposite. I'm possessive over my body and exactly how it acts and appears because I actually like my body, and it finally feels like mine. I'm honestly kind of selfish about it, and I think I've earned the right to be.
I made this post because I think this is an interesting topic, and I think it's interesting the ways in which we internalize the influences that be. It's also a reminder that no matter how you feel about things like modesty, you should adhere to what makes the most sense to you and what you are most comfortable with. There are pressures to be modest in this way or that way, but what truly matters is what you decide with your body and yourself.

Bruh I've been watching Youtube videos on "lolcows"- most notably Chris-chan and Wings of Redemption- and it's fucking insane how demented a lot of their trolls are.
Chris and Wings aren't good people and they have a lot of issues, but it's fucking crazy how many people have dedicated their lives to harassing them and making their lives miserable because they think it's funny. Like idk how you can spend a huge amount of time stalking and harassing someone you hate and come to the conclusion that you're in the right and it's good for you.
I still like watching documentary-style videos on eccentric people, but imo that's where it should end. It's like being in a museum: look but don't touch. The fact that some people think it's acceptable and funny to ruin someone's life because they're "cringe" or whatever is disgusting.

Ironic how the "progressive" anti-kink, anti-porn and sex negative crowd parrot identical talking points as conservative and evangelical Christians and yet will piss and shit themselves if you dare to call them out on it. None of these people are interested or seemingly capable of handling any subject with nuance. It's absolutely mind blowing to me; these people lie in the same bed as oppressive religious groups and yet want to fancy themselves superior and different than them.

Real question folks.
We all know Optimus’s motto right? Right?
“Freedom is the right of all sentient beings.”
Yeah, that one. You know the one.
But. Like. Issue.
Animals are sentient. Animals like dogs, cats, wild animals, they all have sentience. So like, what do we think the Autobots think about that? How do they feel about the fact that humans (and probably every other species in the galaxy) regularly domesticate, tame, and use other sentient creatures for their own gain? For things like. Entertainment, agriculture, pet-keeping. All that stuff.
Do you think they’re bothered by it? Do yo7 think they look at humans, with our pet dogs, and think
“Wow, this situation is kinda fucked up.”
I mean. Personally , I don’t think they take much issue with it. (Especially cause like there’s instances of them in canon not giving a shit. Buster in IDW. Fluffy Ears in Earthspark. Etc.) I think they understand the difference between sentient and sapient. Like. Humans are sapient. Cybertronians are sapient. Animals are….not? At at least not really. If you want to classify animals as sapient I think you can make that argument but even then you have to agree that their sapience is severely limited compared to like. Human sapience.
So. I don’t know. Do you think the bots get wigged out but human pet ownership, I guess. Because I know what Optimus’s motto is. I know what he says. But like. Do you think maybe he means sapient where he says sentient? Cause I think that makes more sense.
Cause like. He’s advocating for total freedom, right? Equality under law, ability to self determine your own life and destiny. But. Uh. That wouldn’t really work for animals? They’re sentient, yah, but they operate on an instinct level. Not an intellect level. Not that they don’t deserve protections and shit. That’s not the point. The point is like. Do you think Optimus (and the other Bots I guess) differentiate between sentience and sapience when they apply their beliefs. Because if not then they’d have to also be advocating for total animal freedom.
I do not know where I am going with this. But. Do you all see my point???? Please tell me you do. This has been niggling at my brain for years and I just. I cannot stop thinking about it. I don’t know why.
Sentience is not sapience. But the Autobots fight for the freedom of “sentient beings”. This is driving me insane. Do you think they care about a difference? Or do they see humans as monsters for our dominion over animals? Someone help I’m thinking too much about something that doesn’t even matter.

listening to my mom on the phone and she's telling me about how she's listening to some podcast about how sometimes people will use writing as a way to process things, especially things that happened to them in their childhood you know, like, processing and grappling with difficult things that happen to them and boy maybe i'll find that interesting to hear from that perspective because, you know, "you're a writer and all!" and i'm like [looking into the camera like on the office] do they now. is that something people do. in writing. do they now.

i feel like my allergies have gotten worse overnight again but it’s freezing outside so there’s no way anything new is suddenly in bloom to set me off but i’ve gone from my normal level of sniffly and sneezy to multiple full blown allergic fits in public a day seemingly overnight
