Author's Note: This is actually a modified chapter from Tempest Wind written based on the prompts given to me by my readers on Quotev and Tumblr. It turned out too cute imo to not share with a general audience.
Tumblr media
"Look, Red!" you grab onto Vash's sleeve with a gasp. "It's a cat!"
Vash leans towards you, still sucking on the strawberry ice cream, his other arm around a paper bag filled with all kinds of groceries. His eyebrows raise in surprise as he too catches sight of the small black tail slinking around the corner.
"I haven't seen one in so long!" You have already let go of him again and pay no mind as you follow the little shadow into the alley. You hear rustling coming from the trash surrounding a bin and approach cautiously, eager to get a better look at the mysterious creature.
"Pspspsps!" you try to call it out of the pile, but all that does is make them freeze. "You must be starving."
You jump up again just as Vash appears around the corner, he looks relaxed as he shoves the last bit of his pink treat into his mouth. You stand on your tiptoes to reach your arm into the bag he carries and dig around until you find the ham, folded up in waxy paper. You unravel it carefully and pull out a slice before giving the rest back into Vash's outstretched hand.
You return to the rustling mound and extend your hand with the meat, waiting for the breeze to carry the scent to the animal.
"Don't be scared! You can have all this and more; just come out." You speak softly, and Vash smiles tenderly at your antics. "Come out, little one! We won't hurt you!"
You squat patiently as the shifting of the trash gets closer to you, and a little black head pops out from underneath. The nose is just as jet black as the coat, but large green eyes look back at you with a mixture of fear and curiosity. You don't move, and Vash observes that you don't even breathe as you wait for the kitten to come closer. It takes a few careful steps towards you, cautiously sniffing the air, and the smell of ham seems to triumph over any hesitation. They bite into the ham and try to run away, but as you hold on to the slice, they have to remain where they are and bite off pieces. The black cat still looks uneasy and chews while trying to make scary noises, but you remain still and calm. Vash's eyes move between the two of you, observing the precious moment. The cat relaxes as the hunger pains lessen and even starts rubbing their head on your hand. That's when you scoop them up.
"Hey, little guy. You're cute!" You lift them up so they are level with your eyes. "Where did you come from?"
You stand up, and the little creature purrs loudly as you stroke its soft fur. You go up to Vash and present your new friend. He lowers his head and smiles at the adorable little creature. His free hand reaches out and his finger moves underneath one of the front paws. Your man gives the kitten a little handshake.
"Nice to meet you!" He smiles brightly and then scratches their head.
"I wonder if they have a home..." you say a little sadly as you let the creature climb onto your shoulder. The kitten purrs happily and nuzzles into your neck, feeling like it belongs there.
"I don't know, but we can ask around," Vash says softly, giving you a reassuring smile.
You spend an hour asking the townsfolk about the little stray kitten, but nobody has an answer as to how it got there or who it belongs to. You decide to put your search on hold as you still have your groceries with you. With a heavy heart, you head back to your toma to go and look for a place to stay the night, but that's when you see a little poster on the side of a building with a familiar black furry face. It's a missing cat poster that comes with an address pointing to the edge of town, and that's where you head.
You knock on the door, and the person who answers is a middle-aged woman who looks very tired. Her eyes shift between you and Vash as the man opens his mouth.
"Hello! We're here because we saw your poster." Vash smiles brightly, his bubbly personality overflowing.
"Oh... Did you find her?!" The woman perks up with hope and looks more intently to see if you have the kitten.
"Yes, we ran into them on the street," you say softly, and you reach out to tickle the bottom of Vash's hood. A moment later, the black cat pops their head out from where they have been sleeping ever since you fetched your birds.
"You found her!" The woman is overjoyed and reaches out to pick the animal up from Vash's shoulder. "I was so scared! My little granddaughter left her in my care when she and my daughter moved to September! I don't know what I would have done if anything had happened to her. How can I repay you?!"
"It was our pleasure," Vash says with his regular calm demeanor, and you nod.
"Are you travelers? I don't think I've seen you around here before."
"We're just passing through, indeed," Vash replies with a smile.
"Do you have somewhere to stay?" The woman continues.
"We were just about to go find ourselves a room somewhere."
"No need! You can stay here; my daughter's room is free. Come, come, I insist!" The woman takes Vash's sleeve and pulls him inside; with her other hand, she cradles the kitten.
Vash shrugs while looking at you and enters with you close behind. As you enter the cozy room, you can't help but feel grateful for the woman's generosity. It's nothing fancy, but it's warm and inviting. She helps you settle in, and the little black kitten follows you around like a shadow even after you insist that you have no more ham to give to her. Vash tells you to take it easy while he tends to the birds for a change, and you take the opportunity to play with your furry friend. It has been a while since Vash has dealt with the toma and their gear so extensively, and you had used your own little knots and quirks for securing everything, so he fiddles for quite a bit with everything while chatting with the woman. The topic of birthdays comes up, and Vash thinks back to his childhood on the ship and the wonderful first birthday Rem threw for him and Nai. He doesn't think much about birthdays, despite the happy memory. Today is your birthday, and he got some treats from the market, yet he feels like you deserve so much more than just some rare jerky and dried fruit.
As he comes back inside with the woman, he realizes that the house is completely silent. He begins to worry that something may be wrong and walks up to the bedroom door where he last left you to be met with you sprawled out on the bed, fast asleep, and the kitten curled up in the crook of your neck.
"They must've been very tired. Let's let them rest; they has a trustworthy little guard with them to keep watch over their dreams," the quiet voice of the woman says as she gently pulls the door closed.
Vash does check up on you a few times, peeking in through the tiniest crack of the door to make sure you're okay. Each time he finds you in a different position, as you seem to toss and turn a lot, the covers a mess on the bed, and the tiny cat is always either somewhere on or around you. He leaves with a smile on his face to return to his little project he got the opportunity to delve into.
Vash has just lathered the first layer of biscuit with a thick layer of cream when you step out of the bedroom. Your face seems a bit groggy to him, but you return his smile with a warm one of your own. You walk up to him and wrap your arms around his waist, resting your head against his back.
"Hey, Sweet Pea," he says quietly. "How are you feeling?"
"I'm good," you reply, hugging him tighter. "What are you up to?"
"Nothing much; don't worry about it," he replies with amusement.
"Really? Cause to me, it looked like you're making a cake," you chuckle and start to sway him softly from side to side. "What's the occasion?"
"Well..." He trails off, a mischievous smile playing on his lips. "It's your birthday today!"
"What? Is it really?" You say softly as you peek around his side to catch a glimpse of his face, and he sends you a goofy smile. "Oh, Sprout... You are too sweet. I didn't even realize how fast time flies."
You release him to stand beside him and lean over the table to have a closer look at what he's doing.
"Want any help?" you ask cheerfully as you turn to him.
"I might need your guidance, but I think you need a hairnet or something," he chuckles, his hands covered in icing. "Your hair is getting dangerously close to my masterpiece."
"What...?" You get a confused look on your face and reach up to touch your hair to find it in an absolute mess. Your cheeks flush crimson, and you go closer to a shiny pot on the edge of a cabinet to look at the birds nest on your head from all the tossing you did in your sleep. You groan at the thought of having to brush this through, but then start laughing instead.
"I look like a crazy person!" You chuckle.
"Are you considering a new hairdo?" Vash asks calmly, with an adoring smile on his lips.
"Why do you ask?" You turn to him. "Don't you like it? Wouldn't you love me if I looked like this?"
You look at him pleadingly as you creep closer. "What is it? I love you for who you are, not how you look. Is it not like that for you?"
"What?! Of course it is!" He seems surprised and assures with a resolute tone: "I love you for you, not your appearance."
"Okay..." you grab hold of his arm, wrapping both of yours around his tightly. "But would you still love me if I was a worm?"
His eyes widen in shock, but he quickly responds, "Even if you were a worm, my love for you would never change."
You laugh at his response and give him a tight hug. You see the smear of icing on his cheek, and pull him closer. He leans towards you, and you take the opportunity to lick the icing off him and gently bite the rosy flesh, causing him to chuckle too, before playfully touching the tip of his nose to yours.
After you fix your bedhead, you return to Vash's side and help him assemble the cake. Once the masterpiece is complete, you both look at it with pride, yet you have swiped enough frosting and leftover biscuit that you are willing to let it sit for a bit. You stand in front of Vash, his arms wrapped around you.
"Oh yeah... I meant to ask. Where's the..." you stop as you realize you don't know the name of the woman living here.
"Ann left, she said she has business in town and she would be back later." Vash's nose digs into the helix of your ear. "You wanna know what else she said? Apparently this town has a water purification system. And that means we can take a bath."
"Ooooooh!" You exclaim excitedly, but your tone quickly changes. "AAAAAH!"
Vash's nimble fingers dance across every spot he knows is ticklish for you, and he has you wiggling in his grasp as you laugh uncontrollably. You try to push his strong arms away, and do indeed manage to twist out of his reach. But Vash quickly grabs you again, determined to continue the tickle attack. To his detriment, you are now in a better position for a counterattack and choose not to show him any mercy as you launch your assault, your fingers digging into the space between his ribs, causing him to squirm and laugh uncontrollably. It doesn't take long for Vash to stumble over his long legs and tumble backward, dragging you along with him. You find yourself on top of him, his arms protectively around you to make sure you don't hurt yourself in the fall, and both of you continue laughing uncontrollably. You lay your ear on his chest and hear the racing of his heart as he holds you close. His right arm wraps around your upper back, his fingertips resting on the side of your neck, and he feels the rhythm pulsating in your veins. He places a kiss on the top of your head and feels your heart seemingly skipping a beat.
Vash covers you in kisses before getting both of you to your feet again and dragging you to the bathroom, where he starts preparing the bath, carefully choosing a temperature and adding bubbles. You sit on the edge and watch him as he stirs the water and picks up two towels. He insists you stay where you are as he hurries around getting everything ready for a relaxing bath. And that includes the strange foreign snacks you found in town. He looks very proud of himself as he brings in a chair and then sets a tray on top of it next to the tub. He has laid out the different cookies and dried meats and fruits you had paid an arm and a leg for. He even brought a bottle of wine and two glasses. He shuts the faucet and turns to you with mischief in his eyes.
"Noh, strip, birthday girl." He laughs.
"Shouldn't you be stripping for me on this special occasion?" You reply with amusement.
"No, I didn't mean like this. Naughty, naughty," he chuckles, but the heat in his ears reveals his slight flusterdness.
After some more banter and helping each other get rid of your clothes, you find yourself in the tub, laying on his chest with his long legs to either side of you. It is a tight fit, but you enjoy the closeness of his arm around you. You try out the different things you had bought from the market; some of them you would rather have left for someone else, but the wine fits your palette well. You savor the flavors and textures, talking with each other in quiet voices.
"Happy birthday, Sweet Pea!" he whispers into your ear as he places a kiss on your cheek. You smile and thank him, feeling grateful for him putting so much effort into this day.
Once the bathwater gets cold and all the good snacks are out, the two of you get out, determined to go and get a piece each from the cake you made. You exit the bathroom wrapped in your towels, only to be met with an unexpected sight. There is your cake in the middle of the table, but now it has a black furry topper who happily sleeps in the midst of pink frosting.

The Izora Concert Experience
Better than (Tour) The Best.
With COVID restrictions finally lifting to a proper degree in Japan, the Izora tour saw the audience come alive in a way that had not been possible in three years.
The band itself was also more energetic on stage. As we know from the band's pre-tour interviews posted to their YouTube channel, Tour The Best 35th Anniv. overlapped studio recordings of the following year's Izora album, competing for their energy and creative focus.
By contrast, the members seemed much more lively for Izora. Toll walked cheerfully and waved where before he had shuffled. Imai's cane was nowhere to be seen, and in addition to his usual kicks and dances, he playfully hop-scotched across the stage during Hizumi. Yuta was mugging at the crowd with extra enthusiasm, and there were moments of Sakurai and Hide twirling in sync.
And, while I'm 99.8% certain I did not imagine it, I know how hard this will be to believe: Imai cracked a smile.
In addition to playing the entire album, the smattering of old songs included Jonathan Jet-Coaster, with the chant of "I wanna be your fuckin' baby, fuckin' baby" getting quite the response from the audience, and Igniter, which absolutely thrilled my hard-rock heart, not to mention the sheer pleasure of hearing Imai at the mic again.
Having gone to a show on this tour has more than convinced me to get a copy any Izora-related tour Blu-rays in the future for two points (above and beyond simply being a Buck-Tick simp):
1) The visuals fit the songs beautifully and cohesively. I'm dying to see them again without the fear of missing some action from the members.
2) Imai's theremin solo. No joke, the man has seriously leveled up his skill. While Imai has always used the theremin as he has most synth sounds, as a way to enhance the existing melodies and add his particular brand of flair, his solo in Izora was masterful, as the theremin sang with more tonal fidelity and coloratura than most of the solos the band puts out.
My one and only criticism falls on Noraneko Burū ("Alley Cat Blue"), whose bridge features a solo on an off-tune tinny upright piano. On the album, this works. The run-down jazzy sound suits the lazy lounge-esque beat of the song. However, this bit of piano keeps its coveted spot in the song as a backing track on stage. I wasn't sure which musician to focus on, as none were actively creating the solo, and as it was a straight copy of what was on the album, felt flat when played next to live instruments. In previous tours, Rondo's violin suffers similarly, but the looser scat of a piano definitely stood out more to me.
Much that I have to say about the venue, goods, and the before and after are the same as my previous post. I did learn that getting the first copy of an autobiography does not guarantee you'll be rewarded with a signed copy. (Yuta, why no love??!! (。•́︿•̀。) )
One unfortunate thing I discovered this time was how certain members of the audience behaved after the show was complete. This time, I had hung around and had a better view of the audience after the show, seeing several of them scour between seats for the chance at missed picks, diving viciously for them and nearly getting into scuffles. (I'm not terribly surprised. I've seen the obaachans during Parinirvana Day; the U.S. has no monopoly on "Black Friday" behavior. I'm still disappointed to see it again, though.)
Don't let my ability to expand on complaints fool you. Izora was an absolute blast. I wish I had the funds and the free days to follow Buck-Tick all over the country. Gods willing, they will make more albums and do more tours, and I hope to save up enough to attend several in the same tour next time 'round.

"Colter's dead. We've got ourselves a new Overboss."
- Porter Gage, a man who will join Colter soon
< Previous > . . . < Next >
"Thank you all for coming out this... afternoon, I think. To those who were friends of Overboss Colter, I'll give you... maybe six seconds to grieve."
"Let's talk about us. About, we. About, team raiders. I'm your new mom-dad, and our family just changed a lot, with me killing your old dad-mom. Things were said in this... bumper car ring that I don't think should define our relationship. Mostly by Colter, but I'm willing to overlook that, since he was a coward and a loser and an idiot and is now a leaky buckshot container. A little about me, then! Used to roll with the Atom Cats, big meow to all my... okay, okay, relax. I'm also the General of the Minutemen which is..."
"It's okay, I get it, this one you can laugh."
"...which is, fine. No complaints - turns out water and food are so like stupid easy to generate that only a complete idiot would do anythin... it's just easy, is all I mean. What else, what else... favorite colors are green and black and gold, or pink and yellow and blue, but not mixed, don't give me a green and gold and pink and blue thing because I'll hate it. Okay? Little hint for the gift love languageers. Least favorite tense, past perfect, get outta' here with that. And I guess the last thing I wanna say is... I am immortal, and I don't need tricks. I've smelled the breath of a deathclaw with nothing but a snub nose in my hand. You mean nothing to me. When I see your disgusting friends in the wasteland it's dirt nap on sight. Hangman's Alley? Corvega? The Combat Zone? All me. I'm not going to stop, so if that bothers you, you have ten seconds to come into this bumper car ring and make me care. Go ahead and hop in Colter's armor if you want... he's not using it."
"Sexy. Now that we're all on the same page... go run off and gossip in your little fan clubs or whatever you are. Announcer guy, please stay. I have some... criticisms, of your performance."

"Are you sure you don't wanna come to Nuka-World? We can get novelty t-shirts and pose the skeletons funny."
I will maybe play Nuka-World. I did this first part back a while ago. I... approached fun. The Gauntlet was lame as could be. Colter was lame. I hate that everyone taunts me and never seems to recognize that I'm the biggest cause of death in the Commonwealth. I was level 34 when I got here, it's not like I didn't do things! I looked it up and Colter will comment on power armor if I brought any, he'll even comment on my vault suit if I show up in one, but says nothing about me being the General of the Minutemen, the most egregiously anti-raider faction of all time. I've never sided with raiders, and won't start now, which means there's no content for me to do, apparently.
Oh.
Anyway these pictures came out WONDERFUL. It was Jet, funny enough. The visual effect, the saturation boost, it was really great for this fight. Looks like winners do do drugs!
If you're not unjustly asking why I changed Cait to the Grognox costume it's because Nuka-Cola theme park comic cosplay group theme. Piper was supposed to be the Shroud but again, can't remove Shroud. I finished that quest today just to get that outta pockets.

Sailor Moon: Reignstorm - Chapter 4: Moon Spectrum Power
Usagi and her friends had decided to stop by the Bob-Floy Ice Cream Shoppe on their way home from school, with Rei, Luna and Artemis joining them along the way. The cats found their usual spots on Usagi and Minako’s shoulders before the girls went up to order. With ice cream in hand the girls started to make their way to the Hikawa Shrine for another study session.
“You’d better have that finished before we get there, Usagi.” Rei said, “I don’t need a repeat of what happened the last time you brought ice cream into my room.”
“Hey, that’s not fair!” The bun-headed girl said in response, “Mina made a mess too!”
“Yeah, but I’m Rei’s favorite, so I get a pass.” Minako said, slinging her arm around her raven-haired friend’s shoulders.
“You wish.” Rei responded with a light blush, but without making an effort to remove her friend’s arm.
Ami and Makoto walked behind them, holding their ice cream in one hand and their partner’s hand in the other. Even after they had been together for almost three months, every time Usagi saw the two of them do normal couple things it filled her with joy. She had watched Ami pine after Mako for as long as she could remember, and had begun to worry that Ami would never tell her how she felt. Especially when she thought she lost them during the Galaxia incident. After they came back Usagi strongly considered just locking them in a room together until it was resolved, but ultimately decided against it. She figured it would be best to give them some time to process what had happened to them before forcing something like that. But she swore that if it went on much longer she would’ve been forced to take action.
Although now there seemed to be something going on between Rei and Mina, which was a whole other thing. Originally Usagi just assumed that Mina flirting with Rei was no different than her flirting with… well, everyone. But now she could see why Rei had felt the need to ask her about it. There was definitely something different with how the two of them were acting.
“Oh, by the way, how did your audition go?” Rei asked, referring to the audition Minako had attended to perform at a local club.
“About as well as I expected.” The Guardian of Beauty said, shrugging her shoulders, “They said they’d call me but… I dunno, I really don’t wanna get my hopes up.”
“Aw, c’mon, give yourself some credit. I’m sure you’ll get it.” Rei said with a smile.
“Rei’s right! In fact, I bet we could already celebrate you getting it by going to see a movie before we go to the shrine!” Usagi said, clearly attempting to get out of work.
“No way, Usagi!” Ami rebuked, “We’ve been taking it way too easy lately. I only got a ninety-one on my last English test!”
“Babe, you know that’s not bad right?” Makoto said before taking another bite of her ice cream.
“I mean… It's not great.” Ami replied.
“Ami, do you have any idea what I would give to get a ninety-one on a test?” Usagi shot back.
“You wouldn’t have to give anything if you would just study.” Luna said snarkily.
“Exactly!” Ami agreed, “Which is why we can see a movie later!”
“Ugh, fine!” Usagi finally caved.
Suddenly, the Guardians felt a shift in the atmosphere, and watched as the sky above them went dark, covered in an inky, black shadow.
“What the-” Usagi began to ask before she was cut off by a large object falling from the sky and impacting down the street from the girls.
When the dust settled the team was shocked by what they saw. It was seemingly the Makai tree but… wrong. It was roughly the same size as they remembered, but its bark was jet black, with red leaves coming out of its branches. Branches that were currently flailing around and destroying the city, as it moved around on its roots, which seemed to function almost like tentacles.
Floating in front of the Makai Tree were two figures who Usagi immediately recognized: Ail and An. The team quickly ducked into a nearby alley to transform unseen.
“Well, it’s been a minute, ready girls?” Minako asked, to which the others simply nodded in reply.
“Venus Crystal Power!”
“Jupiter Crystal Power!”
“Mars Crystal Power!”
“Mercury Crystal Power!”
“Moon Eternal!”
“MAKE UP!” The five girls shouted in unison, the alley filling with light and energy as they transformed. When it died down, however, it was clear that there was a problem.
Usagi hadn’t transformed.
“What?!” She asked, looking down at herself, “I said, Moon Eternal MAKE UP!”
Nothing.
“I don’t understand.” Usagi said, ripping the Eternal Moon Article off of her uniform and looking down at it. Nothing seemed wrong with it. So why wasn’t it working?
“You hang back with Luna and Artemis and try to figure that out.” Venus instructed, “The rest of you, let’s move!”
Usagi watched helplessly as her friends ran off to fight. She decided it would be best to get to higher ground, so she began quickly making her way up the fire escape in the alley.
“Usagi, what are you doing?” Artemis asked.
“I don’t know!” Usagi blurted out.
She made it to the roof and looked out to see her friends fighting. They were holding their own, but it was clear they were outclassed. She looked down again at the Article.
“C’mon, I need you to work!”
“Jupiter Oak Evolution!” Jupiter shouted as she attempted to attack the raging Makai Tree. Unfortunately, her attack failed to leave so much as a mark on the tree’s body, “Damn, this thing’s tough.”
Meanwhile Sailor Mars and Sailor Venus had engaged Ail and An, but were struggling to get close to them due to their telekinetic powers.
“So what gives? I thought you guys turned good?” Venus questioned while dodging an attack from Ail.
“Good, bad, does it really matter?” An said, launching an energy attack at Mars, which the Guardian of Fire barely managed to avoid.
“Uh, yeah, I would say it does!” Mars said, “Fire Soul Bird!” She shouted as a large bird made of fire erupted from her body and towards An, who effortlessly repelled it with a psychic shield.
Mercury had hung back and was using her computer to analyze their opponents, “This doesn’t make any sense! They’re significantly stronger than last time! And this energy they’re giving off… it couldn’t be…”
“Mercury look out!” She heard Jupiter cry from across the battlefield, prompting her to just barely avoid being crushed by one of the tree’s roots.
“Uh, guys, not to be a spoil sport but I don’t think we’re winning here!” Jupiter said sarcastically while launching another bolt of lightning towards the Makai Tree, which once again had no effect.
“Yeah thanks Jupiter I got that!” Venus said as another of her attacks bounced off of Ail’s psychic shield.
“C’mon, work dammit!” Usagi shouted as she shook the Article in her hands, “This is a really bad time for… whatever this is!”
Suddenly, cracks started to form in the Article, and it all but exploded in Usagi’s hands before the newly freed Silver Crystal floated up in front of her face.
“What…?” Was all she could manage to say.
The crystal started flashing different colors in front of her.
Blue.
Red.
Green.
Orange.
Navy.
Sea Green.
Garnet.
Purple.
Pink.
The color sequence repeated, faster and faster each time.
Blue, Red, Green, Orange, Navy, Sea Green, Garnet, Purple, Pink.
Blue, Red, Green, Orange, Navy, Sea Green, Garnet, Purple, Pink.
Blue, Red, Green, Orange, Navy, Sea Green, Garnet, Purple, Pink.
Until finally, a new object formed around the crystal. Floating in the air in front of Usagi was a silver compact, with a large pink crystal in the center, with eight smaller, different colored crystals surrounding it.
“Usagi, that-”
“I know, Luna.” She said, grabbing the compact out of the air in front of her and affixing it to the bow on her school uniform, “Alright, let’s do this.” She said with a small smirk before raising her hand into the air.
“Moon Spectrum Power! MAKE UP!”
With that, Usagi exploded into a series of multicolored lights, before ultimately emerging as another new incarnation of Sailor Moon.
Her skirt was white with a pattern on the front which included nine different colored lines. Both her gloves and boots were now white, the shoulder frills which she had on her fuku as Super Sailor Moon had returned, along with her tiara. The tiara was no longer gold, however, but instead silver.
From her transformation four beams of light shot out and impacted her friends, altering their appearances as well. Their skirts were now multi-layered, as hers had been when she was Eternal Sailor Moon, each layer having a different shade of their respective color. They also gained bubbles on their shoulders, as well as knee-high, white boots.
The Sailor team looked up to see Usagi floating above them, utilizing a pair of butterfly wings which appeared to be made of some kind of rainbow energy.
“Sailor Guardians! You guys take Ail and An!” She instructed from above, “Leave this overgrown weed to me.” She finished, tightening her gloves.
--
So, I have a couple things I should say here:
First, yes Mako bites her ice cream (aka eats it the right way) deal with it.
Second, I don't have a lot of experience writing fight scenes, so if they come off as a little weak, that's probably why.
Third, this is probably one of the more self-indulgent aspects of this fic as I... HATE Sailor Moon's Eternal form. I always wished they had done more to incorporate some of the design elements of Sailor Cosmos as opposed to... whatever they were going for with Eternal, and thus I tried to do that with "Spectrum" Sailor Moon (Having more white on the costume, using Cosmos's skirt design, etc.) I do like the Eternal Forms of the other guardians though and the 90s anime cheated us out of seeing those, so I decided to incorporate them as well. Like I said, this element of the story was very self-indulgent.
NEXT TIME: Sailor Moon discovers the new abilities which come with her new transformation! The Inner Guardians vs Ail and An! And our mysterious masked villain finally makes the scene!
Until then, let me know what you all think! Comments, likes, reblogs, etc. are very much appreciated!
And come back next time for Chapter 5: Enter Reign.

My Family is... a Little Weird
"Let me recap... you come from a distant artificial world, Klyntar, that is in fact a cage designed at the origin to imprison the creator of your race and prevent the symbiotes from expending in the Galaxy; you and a small group of... individuals, escaped in a spaceship when your specie engaged in a civil war on Klyntar that split your community, and now that your unit of deserters who turned their back on their home planet landed on Earth, you need me to trace the allies who travelled with you?!"
"Pretty much, yes," the creature appreciated, Eddie could even say the large glowing white triangles that feature the alien's eyes reflect something akin to... fondness.
This aside, the picture remains highly disturbing. Batman saved his life the instant they bonded, by abandoning the too weak human envelope it carried until then. By chance, the extraterrestrial in its declining meatsuit walked outside this hour, it has been attracted by fighting noises six streets from its position. It approached, then, upon grasping the context, merged with the man who could use the intervention of a hero and... beat to a pulp the gang of drug dealers that assaulted him in a side alley, while the private detective worked on a lead to hopefully solve his latest kidnapping affair.
Two days passed since then, Edward Nygma recuperated from the shock. That doesn't mean he is quite used yet to having this... thing attached to him, even though Batman is surprisingly nice, for a vengeful monster from another planet. Eddie simply needs to adjust to the view of this jet black head prolonged by pointy... sort of 'ears' which seem immovable, a strong jaw that discovers a thick pink tongue and a myriad of sharp teeth.
"They are not exactly my 'allies',” it corrected nonetheless. "They are my... family. Only one shares my venom, I believe in Earthian language you say 'biological ties', but all five are my children. I miss them, and I need to find them before they get hurt or cause too much troubles. This Blue Planet's atmosphere is unsafe for us to move if we stay outside of an host for too long; however finding a fitting candidate can be... difficult. We kill the vessel if we are not compatible, it deteriorates until its body becomes inoperable for neither us nor them," it anticipated Ed's next question.
"Neat..." the investigator sighed, already feeling like he goes ahead of the most tricky, complicated and quirky case he ever agreed to take.
Batman undulated in an... inviting manner, half-way through a giant bat and a smooth snake.
"I knew you'd understand, Eddie Nygma," the creature purred, like a big happy cat, and that was... damn, that was weird. "After all... you know what it's like to be a father who cares for his child."
Edward smiled a bit. He can't argue against that.
Over the previous days, Ed made it very clear his unexpected roommate cannot show up when Stephanie is home. His daughter of heart may be the most comprehensive person he knows, he doesn't see how to casually break to her he became the host of an alien symbiote dad who wants to find his five alien symbiote kids disseminated across the State, maybe even across the country after they parachuted in extremis from their spaceship about to crash.
Quite the situation.
Though no doubt when Steph, who is currently at school and Ed slouched on the comfy couch of their apartment, finds out (it's evident she will find out...), she'll be super excited and eager to participate to this unprecedented adventure. Eddie taught her well.
For the time being...
"Alright, Bats. Tell me more about your family, your specie... everything. I need to collect as many clues as I can to build a reasoning and start my investigation. I am the greatest detective on Earth, I promise I'll help you find your children."
~~~
Among said children, two need to be rescued: first to jump from the ship about to blow up, Phoenix and Black Bat landed together in the countryside, in a relatively desertic landscape. Disoriented, lost and in pain with no potential hosts around, they were in no condition to defend themselves. They got captured by human scientists working for a private company prior they could adapt to the new environment or bond with any living being.
One requires assistance: Nightwing was the last to step out of the crashing plane, it made sure its family exited the spaceship first. Another piece of the reactors exploded when it was about to jump, rubble collided with its frame, nearly knocked it out and made it lose its balance. Badly injured, Nightwing effectuated a rushed landing on... salty water. The ship itself sank farther into the Atlantic Ocean. On the upside, less than twenty-four hours later, the quasi-comatose alien ended up rescued by a young woman who took a week of holidays with her father on board of their recreational craft. In some peculiar adaptation of The Little Mermaid, Barbara Gordon spotted the oily black and blue substance while her dad and her fished in open sea, not that far from the Gothamite coastline. They approached, intervened... One thing leading to another, Nightwing bonded at first sight with an 100% compatible human. On top of not being scared, Babs also devoted to nurse the symbiote back to health.
One must be apprehended before it commits a carnage in Metropolis: Red Hood kills vessels every three hours or so, its metabolism is too powerful for most persons to handle. And when it doesn't melt people from the inside, the extraterrestrial rips off the heads of bystanders it devours in dark quarters at night, starving because of the increased energy it consumes when jumping from one incompatible host to another.
One is already looking for them: Demon found the right match at third try. Now helped by a retired military, Alfred Pennyworth, the youngest symbiote investigates to reunite the family.
Just a little scene I wrote when the baestie showed me this Fate video (please don’t assume I'm a Fate fan I know very little about it lol) and when I fell in love with it I knew I just had to write my own version using my blorbos uwu
Content Warning: Implied cannibalism, major character death, borderline graphic depiction of violence
Hope you enjoy~
Yusaku landed gently in a forest of pastel— grass the color of mint, dirt the color of creamy coffee, trees the color of cinnamon topped with leaves the color of matcha.
Yusaku happily trudged along the forest— nearly skipping, but not quite— as colorful creatures from white spherical creatures with slim wing-like protrusions to black sheeps and white rams and even fluffy tan and white cat with large blue ears appeared.
They followed Yusaku as he trailed through the forest, more content than he had been for years, feeling as if he could float away from the Earth at any time.
Blue kites that resembled jets with hands floated above the city streets. The city was largely empty, except for the creatures that followed Yusaku.
A grand set of double doors appeared before Yuskau, the doors as fancy as they were thick. The doors opened for him automatically as soon as he approached them.
Four white walls surrounded him, all four decorated with various framed artworks. There was a floor and ceiling as well, each as bright white as the walls.
Parts of the wall and artwork moved as dark blue orbs with large blue eyes in the center of a teal screen peaked out from behind the board.
The board moved, only to be replaced by another that blended perfectly with the wall behind it.
All around Yusaku, these delightful spherical creatures peaked out from parts of the wall as they peeled off the boards they were hiding behind. They encircled Yusaku, tails tipped with a red arrow gently swaying.
Yusaku gasped at the creatures, they looked fun and friendly, and were colorful compared to the white walls of the room around them.
They hopped closer to him, even their movements were delightful as they heavily relied on their tail to keep balance, like kangaroos. They were like small kangaroos as they smiled at Yusaku brightly with just their eyes.
This was the most content Yusaku had felt in years.
Yusaku stretched out his arm, intended to pet the creature, when a burst of magic shot from him which overwhelmed the poor creature.
Yusaku gasped and covered his mouth. He did not intend for his magic to run rampant. He did not mean to lose control of his magic, to lower his guard just enough for the magic to overtake him.
The creature burst in a small explosion of sparkles as small wrapped candies were tossed in the air and landed in the area where the creature once was.
Yusaku smiled, delighted at the sweet treats the creatures held within and lifted his hand to the sky, releasing a burst of purple magic that diffused throughout the room.
The soft glow of Yusaku's magic combined with the sparkles of the exploded creatures created a dazzling scene as dozens of hard candies were flung through the air.
Yusaku's small smile grew as candies fell all around him, the unexpected treats delighted him as perhaps his magic was good for something.
Yusaku picked up a candy and unwrapped it, already anticipating the delightful sweet, as he brought the treat to his mouth.
"I see you've been busy. I told you to kill it while you had the chance."
The alleyway was dark. Blood stained the floor before Yusaku. A red chunk slipped from Yusaku's hand.
Even his clothes were splattered with blood.
Blue eyes so icy, they nearly reflected the minimum light that shone on the alley.
White hair streaked with lilac.
A shimmering yellow portal made of magic.
"So bright…" Yusaku reached towards the light, as if captivated.
Bullets, faster than the eye could see, each hitting with such precision it was able to sever flesh.
Blood splattered against the wall behind Yusaku.
An arm slammed against the wall and fell with a thud.
Blood poured from Yusaku's left arm.
Yusaku moved his arm to glance at its seververed end, then moved it back to his side as he looked back at his assailant.
Each heartbeat spilled more blood on the floor below.
"I told you I was going to hunt that thing down if you didn't kill it. My last act of mercy to you would be to kill it, along with you, who have already been consumed by its power. I wish I didn't have to kill you along with it."
A dragon's head emerged from the swirl of magic, its mechanical mane spinning as it fired more bullets.
The bullets rained on Yusaku, more disorganized than when the dragon first fired.
Yusaku's body swayed as the impact of each bullet piercing his body caused him to move in the same direction as its acceleration.
Yusaku stumbled back from the accumulated force.
Blood sprayed the floor in a wide area, enough to form puddles.
Yusaku collapsed.
Blood pooled around him, clothes heavy with the blood it absorbed. He made a soft gasp as he struggled to breath.
Both the dragon and the portal disappeared.
A lilac eyebrow rose. The assailant walked closer to Yusaku. "You're still breathing? I didn’t anticipate you tapping into its power so quickly."
A crunch. He stopped walking.
Lifted his arm.
Blood spilled to the floor.
He was missing his left arm— the same arm his dragon severed from Yusaku.
More crunches.
He looked at the floor. His arm disappeared as it was consumed by a small pool of dark shadows, crackling with purple energy.
"Is this your idea of getting even? Do you actually care about him?"
Yusaku’s severed arm disappeared in a pool of liquid shadow charged with purple sparks. Shadows enveloped Yusaku's body, covering it completely.
Yusaku's arm shot out from the shadows and pressed against the floor. The rest of his body followed as he knelt on the floor, body shaking as it cracked with energy. Shadows enveloped the lower part of his body as he stood, movements erratic— alternating between slow delays and rapid jerks.
Yusaku swayed, eyelids heavy. His entire body crackled with energy.
The assailant tsked, then gritted his teeth. "Damn it!"
A stretch of his arm, and the yellow portal reappeared, the dragon sticking its head out and roaring as it fired a volley of bullets at Yusaku.
Shadows covered Yusaku in response. The bullets sped through the air, but were unable to penetrate the shadows as the bullets rusted within the shadows' depths.
They passed around Yusaku, as they were redirected to hit everywhere but Yusaku.
Bullets embedded themselves in the thick concrete walls of the building behind Yusaku. With the power to pierce anything, those bullets weren't easily stopped.
More bullets were fired. All the bullets were deflected away from Yusaku and hit the buildings that surrounded them instead.
A nearby streetlamp crashed by Yusaku's feet. The lightbulb shone a powerful light on Yusaku which concealed his eyes in shadows and casted a large shadow of his silhouette onto the building behind him.
The assailant softly gasped. "You… and it… so quickly too…"
Yusaku opened his mouth and took a bite out of the air.
A leg fell to the ground.
Yusaku's shadow grew as it became nearly as tall as the building itself. Six tentacles peeled itself away from Yusaku's silhouette, stretching as far as it could reach. A single yellow eye opened, the eye nearly as wide as the shadow of Yusaku's head. The eye traveled downwards as the silhouette became more rounded and more compact. A large head tipped with an upturned point peeled away from the wall, connected to the rest of the shadow by a slender neck. The six tentacles peeled themselves away from the surrounding buildings and lashed out to cover the surrounding area in darkness.
The Ghoul in Red
Upon a dreary night comes a shadowy figure crept upon the innocent without discrimination, looking for a delightful meal. The Ghoul in Red may not be the first to quench their appetite with the delectable flesh they feast upon, but they are a most horrifying specimen.
On a dark and cold night was a man walking on a decelot street, he'd walk the same road every night. On one side of him would be a forest, on the other would be apartments and homes. The man's name would be Daniel Jackson. Daniel would be dazzling and would flash through the night. While it would rain rather often near him, he'd always be dressed up in formal attire. He'd be in a dashing jet black tuxedo jacket left unbuttoned. A lean vest underneath as red as a cherry, covering a white buttoned up shirt. Of course the classic tuxedo pants and dress shoes. Sky's as dark as a deadbeats soul and the moon as bright as a choir's prayer. Daniel would walk under the silent night, reaching closer upon his own home. Daniel would be making his way when suddenly he'd be walking past an alleyway. Passing by, he'd noticed something that changed him on a level most twisted indeed.
Looking on into the alley he had sensed something was most definitely wrong. While walking Daniel would notice in the corner of his eye a woman would be seemingly sleeping in the alley. Daniel felt bad for her as he assumed she was homeless, however, he had noticed that she was rather still, a little too still. Creeping closer he had stopped for a moment, staring towards her. Daniel had contemplated for a moment whether he should get involved, "It's none of my business, after all I can't help her if something's wrong, nor is it my responsibility to do so". Caution creeping on his spine, he decided to throw it to the wind. Daniel had decided maybe it was better to feed his curiosity. Clouds covering the moon he'd advance towards the woman lying upon the ground, moving inch by inch,l. Daniel would be in the walkway of the alley now. The woman's back propped against a dumpster and slumped, as soon as he began to gaze upon her. The moonlight would peer through the clouds and down upon the desolate streets, and down upon them. Time stood still as the pale moonlight shined down upon them, that is when he had realized his mistake.
Moonlight now shining on the pair in the alleyway, Daniel had realized what his cautionary instincts were alerting him to. The woman had been slain in this very alleyway, left to rot against the dumpster like common trash. Realizing what he's stumbled onto the man began to panic, unsure of what to do. The nameless woman was lying there motionless, she was in a dashing ocean blue dress and black platform heels. A lovely purple pendant, and cat eye lensed glasses. The lady's hair was a lovely shade of brown. However stunning she was, the thing that drew the man's attention the most was her innards. Her innards had drawn his attention most because they were visible. Her organs had been placed in front of her on the ground. In Front of the nameless woman was a set of plates and various dishes that were meticulously placed in some form of order that eluded the man. Each plate holding an organ of some sort.
The poor soul who had stumbled upon this mess walked a little bit closer, inching closer to get a better sight. Daniels' morbid inquiry got the better of him as he got a whiff of what seemed to be a most gruesome end. Daniel decided to open the dumpster lid and relieve his stomach into it in a grotesque fashion. Afterwards he'd wipe his mouth and cover his nose, getting closer for a proper view. Daniel would crouch down to stare at the scene displayed before him. Daniel noticed a spleen in a medium sized dish with knife and fork to the side. A half eaten kidney on a separate plate. There was a large strainer with small intestines spilling out of it with bite marks all over. A large bowl filled with blood and bits and pieces of lung and liver mixed in like a soup or stew.
Gazing upon the scene, the entree made upon the woman's innards. Daniel would notice that while the body itself seemed to be rather mangled. The lady's face had been left spotless, her eyelids were shut. She was wearing mascara and lovely purple lipstick. The nameless woman's skin was as pale as porcelain. Slowly but surely the man's face inched closer to her. He didn't know why, but he was mesmerized by her. Daniel was inching closer and closer, staring deeply into her strangely relaxed face. He'd stare for what felt like an eternity he had finally pulled away.
Daniel began to stand back up and fixed his clothing out of anxiety, making sure everything was neat and tidy. The poor soul who had stumbled upon this crime couldn't understand why any of this was happening to him, but he knew that he needed to call the authorities before someone saw him like this. Daniel did not wan to become the center of attention for this whole debacle if someone came along. As the man began to turn and walk, a chill went down his spine, his body froze as he broke out into a cold sweat. Daniel couldn't feel anything on his body except one thing, a firm yet small grip on his leg. Daniel couldn't scream, couldn't move, all he could do In this instance was slowly turn his head, taking an eternity to turn towards whatever was grabbing at his leg.
When Daniel Jackson had finally turned to look, it was the mutilated woman grabbing him by the leg, holding on for dear life. In that instant, the man had screamed his head off like none other before, if possible trying to alert the entire world. The woman had her eyes wide open, locked onto his own with an icy stare. The woman's eyes were a royal blue, looking longingly into his dark brown eyes. After hurting his throat by screaming for what seemed like an eternity, he began hyperventilating. The corpse that had been hanging onto him suddenly began muttering something, "H..p, I ..ed y.ou. he..". The man, shocked and frightened, began tugging, trying to get away. The mutilated woman then crawled closer, latching onto him, smearing her own blood all over his pants leg. She would pull some of the organs off of the plates as they were still attached to her, spilling and clanking plates and bowls. more blooding pooling onto the ground as he pulled rougher to get away. The nameless woman kept repeating to herself, "He.., . nee. .our help". Daniel began shaking his head, trying to escape; he had tripped, falling backwards onto his back, tumbling with her glued to his leg.
It was on that weary night, Daniel's fate had changed forever, due to unforeseen circumstances. In a normal scene, a beautiful lady on top of a strapping man would be a passionate scene, but this was no scene of lust. Daniel had begun crying as she was on top of him, repeating herself over and over again while crawling upwards onto him. She had slowly but steadily crawled as he would be shaking at this point, not sure what to do as he was frozen as a board. As she'd crawl, her blood smeared all over him. Eventually, the nameless woman had crawled all the way on top of him. Her eyes locked onto his as their gazes met, her weight pressing down upon his as she spoke in a raspy tone, "Please sir, I need your help". Hearing her words, he would reply wearily with "W-what do you want with me?". A silence would fill the air, she would smile gently towards him as she leaned in and whispered into his ear "I'm so hungry, and those delectable organs can help fill my appetite".
When Daniel had heard that his entire world shook, everything began moving by frames as he'd lay there in shock. As Daniel began to get ready to scream, the lady reached up and began choking him. Daniels' eyes began to get teary as he began to struggle. Daniel was using all of his strength to try freeing himself, but it was no use, she wasn't fazed at all. The smile she was wearing was a ruse, the mask had fallen and upon her face was a sick and twisted grin. The woman's smile distorted as her hand began jabbing at his spleen. Daniel's eyes widened as not a moment later she thrusted inwards, grabbing ahold of it and tearing it out. Upon his spleen being torn out, he would try to scream out to no avail. Tears fell non stop along with hushed screams as the pattern began, hand goes in, organ comes out. While the poor soul should have been dead, something was keeping him with the land of the living. Daniel would cry out and try his best to screech louder than any banshee could, but there was nothing.The sick demonic woman would let out wicked laughter as she wouldn't let up, getting off on his pain as she tortured him slowly and dubiously. Eventually all of the organs from his torso were in a similar position as her own.
After some time she was finished with her latest prey, he'd lie there twitching on the ground, surrounded by blood and tears. Daniel's organs were now lying on plates similar to the ones he had seen earlier. The man's clothes were soaked in his and her blood, changing his clothing from black to red. His eyes began to change, becoming a deep and lustrous blue. Daniel's hair would turn white unlike hers, his experience twisting him for the worse. He'd begin to slowly sit up, unable to speak. Organs would lie at his feet in shambles. Unlike the nameless woman, most of them were already eaten. Shambling upwards he'd be on his feet. Stumbling towards the wall he couldn't understand why he was still alive, but he hated it. Daniel hated that she was able to do that to him without so much as breaking a sweat. Daniel hated that she took what was his without even as much of a greeting nor consent. Daniel hated how much pain she had left him without even showing a twinge of remorse. He was left there cursing her, and cursing himself for being so weak.
It was over, she had won, she succeeded in filling her appetite and turning some poor innocent soul into one of her. Daniel Jackson had been broken, beated, and shambling all about, his mind blank and his soul burning with hatred. Daniel's mind, body, and soul broke down and stripped of their dignity and rights. The man left behind was no longer Daniel Jackson, what was left behind was The Ghoul in Red. There was only one thing left on his mind, to pour himself a Jack Daniels and satiate his own hunger in a similar fashion.
This chapter is written based on the prompts given by Potato-S and thepeanutgallery on Quotev and anonymous on Tumblr. Thank you!
"Look, Red!" you grab onto Vash's sleeve with a gasp. "It's a cat!"
Vash leans towards you, still sucking on the strawberry ice cream, his other arm around a paper bag filled with all kinds of groceries. His eyebrows raise in surprise as he too catches sight of the small black tail slinking around the corner.
"I haven't seen one in so long!" You have already let go of him again and pay no mind as you follow the little shadow into the alley. You hear rustling coming from the trash surrounding a bin and approach cautiously, eager to get a better look at the mysterious creature.
"Pspspsps!" you try to call it out of the pile, but all that does is make them freeze. "You must be starving."
You jump up again just as Vash appears around the corner, he looks relaxed as he shoves the last bit of his pink treat into his mouth. You stand on your tiptoes to reach your arm into the bag he carries and dig around until you find the ham, folded up in waxy paper. You unravel it carefully and pull out a slice before giving the rest back into Vash's outstretched hand.
You return to the rustling mound and extend your hand with the meat, waiting for the breeze to carry the scent to the animal.
"Don't be scared! You can have all this and more; just come out." You speak softly, and Vash smiles tenderly at your antics. "Come out, little one! We won't hurt you!"
You squat patiently as the shifting of the trash gets closer to you, and a little black head pops out from underneath. The nose is just as jet black as the coat, but large green eyes look back at you with a mixture of fear and curiosity. You don't move, and Vash observes that you don't even breathe as you wait for the kitten to come closer. It takes a few careful steps towards you, cautiously sniffing the air, and the smell of ham seems to triumph over any hesitation. They bite into the ham and try to run away, but as you hold on to the slice, they have to remain where they are and bite off pieces. The black cat still looks uneasy and chews while trying to make scary noises, but you remain still and calm. Vash's eyes move between the two of you, observing the precious moment. The cat relaxes as the hunger pains lessen and even starts rubbing their head on your hand. That's when you scoop them up.
"Hey, little guy. You're cute!" You lift them up so they are level with your eyes. "Where did you come from?"
You stand up, and the little creature purrs loudly as you stroke its soft fur. You go up to Vash and present your new friend. He lowers his head and smiles at the adorable little creature. His free hand reaches out and his finger moves underneath one of the front paws. Your man gives the kitten a little handshake.
"Nice to meet you!" He smiles brightly and then scratches their head.
"I wonder if they have a home..." you say a little sadly as you let the creature climb onto your shoulder. The kitten purrs happily and nuzzles into your neck, feeling like it belongs there.
"I don't know, but we can ask around," Vash says softly, giving you a reassuring smile.
You spend an hour asking the townsfolk about the little stray kitten, but nobody has an answer as to how it got there or who it belongs to. You decide to put your search on hold as you still have your groceries with you. With a heavy heart, you head back to your toma to go and look for a place to stay the night, but that's when you see a little poster on the side of a building with a familiar black furry face. It's a missing cat poster that comes with an address pointing to the edge of town, and that's where you head.
You knock on the door, and the person who answers is a middle-aged woman who looks very tired. Her eyes shift between you and Vash as the man opens his mouth.
"Hello! We're here because we saw your poster." Vash smiles brightly, his bubbly personality overflowing.
"Oh... Did you find her?!" The woman perks up with hope and looks more intently to see if you have the kitten.
"Yes, we ran into them on the street," you say softly, and you reach out to tickle the bottom of Vash's hood. A moment later, the black cat pops their head out from where they have been sleeping ever since you fetched your birds.
"You found her!" The woman is overjoyed and reaches out to pick the animal up from Vash's shoulder. "I was so scared! My little granddaughter left her in my care when she and my daughter moved to September! I don't know what I would have done if anything had happened to her. How can I repay you?!"
"It was our pleasure," Vash says with his regular calm demeanor, and you nod.
"Are you travelers? I don't think I've seen you around here before."
"We're just passing through, indeed," Vash replies with a smile.
"Do you have somewhere to stay?" The woman continues.
"We were just about to go find ourselves a room somewhere."
"No need! You can stay here; my daughter's room is free. Come, come, I insist!" The woman takes Vash's sleeve and pulls him inside; with her other hand, she cradles the kitten.
Vash shrugs while looking at you and enters with you close behind. As you enter the cozy room, you can't help but feel grateful for the woman's generosity. It's nothing fancy, but it's warm and inviting. She helps you settle in, and the little black kitten follows you around like a shadow even after you insist that you have no more ham to give to her. Vash tells you to take it easy while he tends to the birds for a change, and you take the opportunity to play with your furry friend. It has been a while since Vash has dealt with the toma and their gear so extensively, and you had used your own little knots and quirks for securing everything, so he fiddles for quite a bit with everything while chatting with the woman. The topic of birthdays comes up, and Vash thinks back to his childhood on the ship and the wonderful first birthday Rem threw for him and Nai. He doesn't think much about birthdays, despite the happy memory, but he realizes that you probably have no memory of any of your birthdays or even when it would be. The thought stings him a little because he knows that you deserve to be celebrated just as much as anyone else.
As he comes back inside with the woman, he realizes that the house is completely silent. He begins to worry that something may be wrong and walks up to the bedroom door where he last left you to be met with you sprawled out on the bed, fast asleep, and the kitten curled up in the crook of your neck. The sight gives him mixed feelings. On the one hand, finding you asleep is always a bit concerning, especially in a situation like this, but you look happy, not in the usual curled up position with a furrowed brow.
"She must've been very tired. Let's let her rest; she has a trustworthy little guard with her to keep watch over her dreams," the quiet voice of the woman says as she gently pulls the door closed.
Vash does check up on you a few times, peeking in through the tiniest crack of the door to make sure you're okay. Each time he finds you in a different position, as you seem to toss and turn a lot, the covers a mess on the bed, and the tiny cat is always either somewhere on or around you. He leaves with a smile on his face to return to his little project.
Vash has just lathered the first layer of biscuit with a thick layer of cream when you step out of the bedroom. Your face seems a bit groggy to him, but you return his smile with a warm one of your own. You walk up to him and wrap your arms around his waist, resting your head against his back.
"Hey, Sweet Pea," he says quietly. "How are you feeling?"
"Strange. But in a good way. I feel rested, if it makes any sense in my context," you reply, hugging him tighter. "What are you up to?"
"Nothing much; don't worry about it," he replies with amusement.
"Really? Cause to me, it looked like you're making a cake," you chuckle and start to sway him softly from side to side. "What's the occasion?"
"Well..." He trails off, a mischievous smile playing on his lips. "I just thought that since I don't really know your birthday and you probably don't know it either, that we would just celebrate it today!"
"What?" you say softly as you peek around his side to catch a glimpse of his face, and he sends you a goofy smile. "Oh, Sprout... You are too sweet."
You release him to stand beside him and lean over the table to have a closer look at what he's doing.
"Want any help?" you ask cheerfully as you turn to him.
"I might need your guidance, but I think you need a hairnet or something," he chuckles, his hands covered in icing. "Your hair is getting dangerously close to my masterpiece."
"What...?" You get a confused look on your face and reach up to touch your hair to find it in an absolute mess. Your cheeks flush crimson, and you go closer to a shiny pot on the edge of a cabinet to look at the birds nest on your head from all the tossing you did in your sleep. You groan at the thought of having to brush this through, but then start laughing instead.
"I look... like a crazy person!" You chuckle. "No... I look human."
"Are you considering a new hairdo?" Vash asks calmly with an adoring smile on his lips.
"Why do you ask?" You turn to him. "Don't you like it? Wouldn't you love me if I looked like this?"
You look at him pleadingly as you creep closer. "What is it? I love you for who you are, not how you look. Is it not like that for you?"
"What?! Of course it is!" He seems surprised and assures with a resolute tone: "I love you for you, not your appearance."
"Okay..." you grab hold of his arm, wrapping both of yours around his tightly. "But would you still love me if I was a worm?"
His eyes widen in shock, but he quickly responds, "Even if you were a worm, my love for you would never change."
You laugh at his response and give him a tight hug. You see the smear of icing on his cheek, and pull him closer. He leans towards you, and you take the opportunity to lick the icing off him and gently bite the rosy flesh, causing him to chuckle too, before playfully touching the tip of his nose to yours.
After you fix your bedhead, you return to Vash's side and help him assemble the cake. Once the masterpiece is complete, you both look at it with pride, yet you have swiped enough frosting and leftover biscuit that you are willing to let it sit for a bit. You stand in front of Vash, his arms wrapped around you.
"Oh yeah... I meant to ask. Where's the..." you stop as you realize you don't know the name of the woman living here.
"Ann left, she said she has business in town and she would be back later." Vash's nose digs into the helix of your ear. "You wanna know what else she said? Apparently this town has a water purification system. And that means we can take a bath."
"Ooooooh!" You exclaim excitedly, but your tone quickly changes. "AAAAAH!"
Vash's nimble fingers dance across every spot he knows is ticklish for you, and he has you wiggling in his grasp as you laugh uncontrollably. You try to push his strong arms away, and do indeed manage to twist out of his reach. But Vash quickly grabs you again, determined to continue the tickle attack. To his detriment, you are now in a better position for a counterattack and choose not to show him any mercy as you launch your assault, your fingers digging into the space between his ribs, causing him to squirm and laugh uncontrollably. It doesn't take long for Vash to stumble over his long legs and tumble backward, dragging you along with him. You find yourself on top of him, his arms protectively around you to make sure you don't hurt yourself in the fall, and both of you continue laughing uncontrollably. You lay your ear on his chest and hear the racing of his heart as he holds you close. His right arm wraps around your upper back, his fingertips resting on the side of your neck, and he feels the rhythm pulsating in your veins. He places a kiss on the top of your head and feels your heart seemingly skipping a beat.
Vash covers you in kisses before getting both of you to your feet again and dragging you to the bathroom, where he starts preparing the bath, carefully choosing a temperature and adding bubbles. You sit on the edge and watch him as he stirs the water and picks up two towels. He insists you stay where you are as he hurries around getting everything ready for a relaxing bath. And that includes the strange foreign snacks you found in town. He looks very proud of himself as he brings in a chair and then sets a tray on top of it next to the tub. He has laid out the different cookies and dried meats and fruits you had paid an arm and a leg for. He even brought a bottle of wine and two glasses. He shuts the faucet and turns to you with mischief in his eyes.
"Noh, strip, birthday girl." He laughs.
"Shouldn't you be stripping for me on this special occasion?" You reply with amusement.
"No, I didn't mean like this. Naughty, naughty," he chuckles, but the heat in his ears reveals his slight flusterdness.
After some more banter and helping each other get rid of your clothes, you find yourself in the tub, laying on his chest with his long legs to either side of you. It is a tight fit, but you enjoy the closeness of his arm around you. You try out the different things you had bought from the market; some of them you would rather have left for someone else, but the wine fits your palette well. You savor the flavors and textures, talking with each other in quiet voices.
"Happy birthday, Sweet Pea!" he whispers into your ear as he places a kiss on your cheek. You smile and thank him, feeling grateful for him putting so much effort into this day.
Once the bathwater gets cold and all the good snacks are out, the two of you get out, determined to go and get a piece each from the cake you made. You exit the bathroom wrapped in your towels, only to be met with an unexpected sight. There is your cake in the middle of the table, but now it has a black furry topper who happily sleeps in the midst of pink frosting.
I'm gonna be honest, my lockyle hyperfixation the past few weeks has been so bad that I've mostly been listening to a playlist I made with songs that remind me of them lol, so these songs are literally just pulled from that playlist lol. In no particular order we have:
Berenstein by The Band CAMINO
Reckless Driving by Lizzy McAlpine
Electric Razors by Jet Black Alley Cat
Curtains by Ed Sheeran
Cruel World by Phantogram
