So close to snap at my flatmate for her complaining about her "PhD struggles" right now.

By today she has one PhD position for sure (she doesn't really want it), was asked to apply for two other ones (one which she really wants and has good chances of getting) and could apply for a fourth one which she'd get as well.

Unhinged Kimetsu Academy Headcanons

-Muzan and Kagaya are cousins. They despise each other. They are forced to be civil when the extended family gets together around the holidays, and have an unspoken agreement that they have to pretend to get along for the sake of their relatives. Kagaya is much better at this than Muzan. Amane holds her tongue, but she and Kagaya talk mad shit in the car on the way home.

-Mitsuri is going to art school, and desperately wants to student-teach in Tengen’s art class. He always refuses, mainly out of a very warranted fear that his students will like her better than him. 

-When Kyojuro’s hearing is having an especially bad day, he can really struggle to speak to Obanai, who is soft spoken and wears a mask, so Kyojuro cannot read his lips. They will get stuck in loops of “what? Sorry, what?”, and Kyojuro feels bad about making Obanai take his mask off, so sometimes he’ll ask Obanai to write things down or just sign to him instead.

-When it gets especially cold outside, Tanjiro will force Inosuke to accept his coat by yammering about how much he appreciated him and how sad he would be if Inosuke caught a cold. If he gets flustered and giddy enough, Inosuke will agree to wear the coat so Tanjiro will be happy.

-During Zenitsu’s first week at the academy, he referred to the Ubuyashikis as “Beauty and the Beast”, and was overheard by Amane. Upon reporting this to Kagaya, she was shocked to find that instead of calling for discipline, Kagaya laughed his ass off for ten minutes straight and immediately adopted the nicknames. To this day, he still calls her Beauty when trying to tease her, and they have matching keychains of the enchanted rose on their work bags.

-Because he is polite, respectful, and capable of beating a grown man’s ass into the pavement if needed, many girls will approach Hakuji for protection if they are scared to walk home alone. One time he escorted Nezuko home when Tanjiro had a doctor’s appointment, and Kie rewarded him with enough bread to last him and Koyuki a week.

-Hakuji is mortified by the way he used to harass Kyojuro for a fight as a middle schooler. After marrying Koyuki, he has cleaned up his ways and become quite the gentleman, and he copes by lying to himself that the teachers have forgotten all about it. Unbeknownst to him, Kyojuro is quite excited for Hakuji to graduate so they can finally have a good old spar between martial artists.

-The Ubuyashikis are fully aware that Nakime is a spy for Kibutsuji. Kagaya lets her stay, because she has never once uncovered anything remotely useful, and he knows that she’s just a bit down on her luck and looking for a place to belong. He has faith that someday she’ll realize the error of her ways and abandon Muzan’s regime of terror. Amane is not convinced, and actively takes any chance she can get to thwart Nakime’s casual espionage.

-Tengen loves to watch anime, being the art nerd and flashy bastard that he is. His favorite is Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure, and he often tries to peer pressure Kyojuro into watching it. Kyojuro tends to have a hard time following what on earth is happening in that show, but he does enjoy some of the more tame ones.

-Following the Halloween festival, Kokushibo developed a casual interest in cooking. He’s gotten quite good with a bit of practice. Rumor has it that he makes an extremely good curry, and it’s become Yoriichi’s favorite.

To say Bucky was nervous would be an understatement, he was anxious. Never before did he have a Valentine's Day as important as this one.

It was the first Valentine’s day he would celebrate with you. For weeks he had planned the perfect day, with a private screening of Jojo Rabbit and a fancy dinner afterwards. Then one night as you laid cuddled up in bed you told him how you didn’t want to do anything fancy.

You hadn't grown up in luxury or lived in it for a long time like Bucky. Of course you knew he only wanted to cherish you, but you didn't need that.

Instead your idea was to buy takeout and have a nice relaxing evening.

That wasn't on Bucky's list. However he wouldn’t do something that you didn’t want which was why he was currently in his wine cellar looking for the perfect wine. The Domaine Leroy Musigny Grand Cru and the Coche-Dury Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, but which wine would someone drink with takeout? Red or white? Or no wine at all? He decided to take both.

You were already buzzing with excitement, this Valentine’s day would be special which was the reason you wanted to do something normal and not fancy. In the past years you’ve never met a man quite like Bucky, he was a gentleman, cared for you, worshiped you and respected you.

Everything was finished, a set table with fresh roses, dim lights and romantic playlist you found on Spotify. Now any minute Bucky would come and sweep you off your feet.

The doorbell rang and you had to keep a giggle from coming to the surface as you skipped over to the door. Opening the wooden door it revealed Bucky, his hair pulled back into a man bun, he wore black jeans and a matching black flannel.

“Hey there handsome…,” you smirked leaning against your doorframe. Bucky mirrored your smirk and stepped closer to you. “Hello, beautiful…,” he leaned his face down, his nose almost touching yours.

In moments like these you realized once again how tall he was compared to you. Bucky’s hand grasped your cheek to kiss you, the kiss was full of passion and his tongue graced your bottom lip to ask for permission. Instantly your mouth fell open to let him in. Your tongues danced over dominance, the kiss as hot as fire.

You had to pull back for air, breathing heavily you looked into his blue eyes with a big smile. Bucky rested his forehead on yours and closed his eyes like you before he pushed you inside your flat.

“I don't know what kind of wine you’re meant to have with takeout, so I got both,” he said as you both came to a stop. A hearty laugh escaped your lips at his words, “no worries, my love,” you assured him and led him to the table.

The mob boss had a spark in his eyes as he saw how beautifully you decorated the table, “look what my pretty girl did! This looks amazing, dragul meu.” his Romanian tongue had butterflies dancing in your belly.

Bucky wrapped his arm around your waist and pulled you close to kiss the crown of your head.

“Takeout is still not here…wanna dance?” you asked with a little smirk and raised eyebrows. The brunette immediately took your right hand and spun you around, “with pleasure,” he whispered against the shell of your ear as he had you flush against his chest.

He spun you back around and the music switched to ‘Perfect’ from Ed Sheeran.

His hands rested on your waist as your hands closed around his neck. Your head laid on his shoulder, trying to be as close to him as possible.

Swaying around your living room, the room was full of love. You enjoyed this moment, it should never end because this is right where you wanted to be forever. This man, he was the one you wanted to be with forever without exception.

You lifted your head and opened your eyes to see he was already looking at you with those dreamy blue eyes. The smile never left your lips, he looked perfect.

Bucky couldn’t take his eyes off you, he wondered how he deserved a woman like you. A woman who was okay with what he was doing, a woman who appreciated him, a woman who wasn’t with him for his money and a woman who accepted him with his scars.

A soft warm hand laid against his cheeks and you looked at him with this gaze, he didn’t want that to change, ever.

You were the woman he would marry, have children with, grow old with and would spend forever with. “And now I know I have met an angel in person,” Bucky began singing along quietly, his voice angelic.

“And she looks perfect,” his eyes never left yours as you tried hard not to tear up, “I don’t deserve this,” Bucky pulled you closer.

“You look perfect tonight,” he whispered the last words before he closed his lips on yours.

I've briefly mentioned this before but I'm falling head over heels in love with how Jojo is coding Mew as living in a entirely different GENRE to the rest of the characters in the series.

Ray, Boston, Top, Sand, and Nick? They're all inhabiting the same world/genre. It's a bit grimy, it's gritty, it's messy, the morals are (50 shades of) grey... it's a young adult TV series/movie at its most angsty and hormonal and the way they act and their story arcs reflect that.

But Mew?

Mew gets a voice over introduction:

Mew gets a week long montage of the guy he likes trying to woo him, a grand gesture confession (which Sand even says outright it's like something out of a romance movie), TWO full dates (in the wakeboarding everyone is there but the camera focusses on the two "couples" Chueam/April and Top/Mew), and he EVEN gets an "I like reading, it takes me somewhere else" library scene:

All of these scenes are taken directly from the teen romances of the 90s, in fact they are literally some of the most key and recognisable scenes from any 90s teen romance worth their salt.

Mew doesn't just live in a different world to his friends, he's from a completely different genre.

@chicademartinica posted here about how Jojo is queering 90s erotic thrillers in Only Friends and I want to take that a bit further and say Jojo is actually going so far as to queer the 2 most popular representations of young adults in the 90s: the Cruel Intentionseque erotic thrillers AND uni/high school teen romance of She's All That fame.

Furthermore he's breaking down the barriers between the two. By having the two very different (also completely opposite) genres inhabit a single show, by blurring the boundaries between them, by having them leak into one another in a way their original creators never intended them too, Jojo is queering some of the most recognisable storytelling structures of some of the most popular forms of 90s media.

And now as an audience we get to sit back and watch what happens when the binary dissolves and it's probably going to be glorious chaos (followed by a deep sense of catharsis).

There had only ever been two deaths in the Manhattan Lodge House.

13 years ago, a 12 year old boy named Rocky. A kid who'd been in the refuge for 8 years of his life and seemed to have contracted every virus he could've caught.

He went out quietly, passing away in his sleep and never waking up. An older girl, Nifty, was the one who found him and quickly informed Kloppman, who had him buried later that week in the patch of grass outside.

The second time was after the fight.

Everybody was sleeping soundly, aside from Race and Albert. Jack was nowhere to be found, so until further notice, they were now the ones in command throughout the house. They couldn't bring themselves to fall asleep in case something were to happen, so they were trying to keep themselves awake as long as possible.

They were simply lying there, Race tracing random patterns onto Albert's thighs with his thumb, while Albert smoked his cigar, trying to relax after such a rough day.

At around 01.36, Tommy Boy rushed over to their bunk, tears spilling down his face and panic in his eyes.

"Jesus Tommy, what's happening?" Albert asked, quickly showing himself to a sitting position. "You look like you saw a ghost."

"I think I did-" He stuttered out. "Splasher ain't waking up. We shook him, said his name, slapped him a few times but he still ain't wakin' up-"

Race swung himself off the bunk, Albert following suit and running to Splashers bunk, praying to whoever was up there that the situation wasn't as bad as they were thinking.

At the bunk, Buttons could be seen holding Splashers limp body in his arms, sobbing to himself.

"Buttons...is he-" Race began, before being cut off by Buttons slowly nodding his head.

"He's gone." Buttons whispered, wiping his cheeks as dry as he could get them. "My baby brother is gone."

A few more people were starting to wake up at the noise they were all making. JoJo had caught onto what had happened, and while his shake had come back, he was ushering some of the younger kids out of the room, making the situation easier for the ones in charge.

"C'mon Ike, outta bed." He whispered, Mike asleep on his back and Mush at his side. "Yeah, we's gonna go on a little midnight walk, aye?"

"Jo, yous are shakin'." Specs uttered, putting a hand on the other boys arm. "That ain't happened in a while, you sure you's are good?"

"I'm fine." JoJo replied, walking the kids out of the room. "Call for me when we can come back in."

Specs nodded, walking over to the group at the bed.

Albert had run downstairs to go and grab Kloppman, let him know about the situation on their hands, leaving Racer, Buttons, Tommy Boy, Specs, and poor Splish-Splash.

Tommy Boy was holding onto Buttons, who was now sobbing into his shoulder. Racer had Splashers body covered with a bedsheet, a few specs of blood from his injuries seeping through.

"Christ." Race sighed, unable to break his watch on the body. "Kids only what, eight? Still had everythin' ahead of him."

Soon enough, word had spread to everybody in the room about the death, Kloppman running in with Albert beside him, confirming the fact for everyone.

That night, Splasher stayed lying on that bed with the sheet remaining atop of him.

The next morning, Finch and Henry were sent outside to dig another spot in the ground where they'd lay Splasher just a few hours later.

Much like with Rocky, it was only some of the older Newsies who went out to witness the burial.

Tommy Boy and Buttons were crying again. They'd just lost their little brother, the kid they'd practically raised throughout their childhoods. Now he was gone, just like that, all because of that stupid rally. Kind words had been said, but that doesn't bring back the most important person in their lives.

Race and Albert were dead silent, practically unable to speak from shock and fear. How had Jack done this for so long without cracking? It was their first day, and a kid had just died. They'd been told that it wasn't their fault by Kloppman numerous times, but it just couldn't sit right with them that a child died under their supervision.

JoJo was leading a small prayer service. He hadn't stopped shaking, making a short note to himself to tell the nuns how long this one seemed to be going on for. He'd been in charge of keeping the little kids occupied and distracted, but he knew deep down that there was only so long he could hide the death of one of the loudest kids in the house. He was just praying the day wouldn't be sooner but much later.

For multiple years after, they would look out the window and see the graves of Splasher and Rocky, remembering two kids who ended up dying to fend for themselves and their families.

It wasn't about pennies from that moment onwards. It was about remembering the newsies lost selling to help their family and striking to help future generations.

•small town gossip spreads fast so i hope you didn’t want a private relationship with jojo. he is more than happy to show you off to the world

•he has only experienced relationships through movies and manga. a lot of his actions are cliche and a but cringe but he’s cute so.

•hates the aquarium. jotaro suggests it as a first date spot and josuke laughs in his face.

•holds your hand all around school. he is not shy about showing you off now that everyone knows.

•includes you in like EVERYTHING. he doesn’t want you to feel left out at any time. josuke will explain stands and all that just so you’re up to speed. don’t be scared though y/n. he won’t let anyone hurt you.

•you and tomoko are so close!! josuke acts like he’s annoyed but he’s just so glad you’re getting along

•makes plans with you for the future. he wants to get out of morioh, get married , travel the world. don’t worry he isn’t going to pressure you.

•did someone say double dates ? koichi and josuke set up little get togethers once a month. they’re usually at tonios.

•weather you like it or not okayasu will be sit in on the double dates. doesn’t care about all the love shit he’s there for the food
