The Pink Church, a Lutheran church established in 1888..has the absolute best history!

Built to house a congregation of Swedish and Norwegians—but they were quarreling by the time it was completed and so when they both wanted to hold Sunday school masses it came to a head 😳..most of the Norwegian congregation left..and in the 1960’s it was moved from Climax mine to Leadville..it was then used by Baptist’s until they had a new church built..then it was sold and used as a dance school and painted pink. It’s quite a colorful history.

How cool is it to drive a #lifesize @matchboxworld vehicle around town...? It’s very cool, and it’s even cooler when you hand ‘em over a #1:64diecast version of it to someone as a souvenir!! (Just ask @thelamleygroup ) #BigRed was born in ‘95, and features a factory 454, with a four speed automatic transmission. This radical red rocket was built as a #Chevrolet #G30 1 ton van, and was converted to an #ambulance where it served proudly under the infamous #manhattanbeachfiredepartment Search and Rescue. This van saved lives, and looked good doing it! It has since been converted, carpeted, and customized to allow for road trips, beach trips, and mountain trips in any direction! Rounding out this adventure package is the 2006 #hondaxr650l and will take you and your lady anywhere the van can’t, and then some. Travel over 150 miles plus with the big desert tank, strap your fishing gear and cooler to the aluminum rack, and pop your phone into the bar mount so you can snap all the selfies you’d like as you ascend to the highest peak, (looking way cooler than your ex girlfriend’s new boyfriend!) #californiacoast ...it’s been there. #deathvalley ......it’s been there, #leadvillecolorado ..... it’s been there 3 times, and returned with @ltraceseries top 10 accolades🏅🏆🚵‍♀️ A man with a van, is a man with a plan. I’m home now, but am still running across photos from Colorado. This one has a story. Leadville's First Evangelical Lutheran Church was constructed in 1888 and was known as the "Swedish Lutheran Church." A Wikimedia source cites an interesting history of internal disputes and habitation by other denominations over the years, including a purchase in the 1970s by a man named Brian Shepherd for use as a dance studio. He painted it pink, thus giving it its current name, The Pink Church. The building was raided in 1981 by Leadville police, and was found to be housing marijuana plants. The building was then sold in 1994 to a couple with plans to someday restore the church. I wonder what happened? Turquoise lake trail in Leadville, Colorado. The trail part of this run was fabulous. I extended the run into town, which was good for training, but was all up hill for about 5 miles. I was more than ready for the beer and food at the Silver Dollar, Leadville‘a oldest salon, afterwards.
