Milo w/ Champion f! s/o
fluff; Milo with a super strong f! s/o who's the champion
Hop, M/c and the others r aged up to 20, Milo 22
Tumblr media
Proud bf frfr.
Every single match you've ever fought in he has watched, cheering you on with a big goofy grin
"THAT'S MY GIRLFRIEND!! OMG THATS MY GIRLFRIEND!"
Big strong lad likes strong lass.
You are a workaholic and rarely slow down.
"Have you eaten yet?" "......Oops."
I headcannon this man is malewife material and is a beast in the kitchen. He makes the best apple curry frfr.
All your Pokémon love him! even your VERY protective Cinderace.
Firm believer he falls hard and fast
Milo sat in the stands of the stadium, eyes trained onto the field where the familiar shape of his girlfriend's body and the body of your long-time rival, Hop.
Despite Hop deciding to go down the path of a professor, you and him decided to have a friendly battle just like the old days.
You had became the champion at the age of 18, overthrowing Leon when he was 21.
Milo still fondly remembers the first time he interacted with you. (Even if the very first interaction was a Wooloo smacking into you) He remembers watching in anticipation as you took on his gym challenge. He had just lost against the champion's brother, so he was intrigued by the other challenger endorsed by Leon.
You seemed to have a special way with the Wooloo. What normally was a chaotic task was turned into a quick, streamlined one as you expertly guided the Wooloo into the pen, decimating his trainers. Of course, their grass types were no match for your Raboot.
When you reached him, he was able to see your bond with your Pokémon first hand, and he instantly gained a small crush. Your team at the time was only two Pokémon, which was a pretty small team, but they were both incredibly well trained. The grass type trainer could tell you cared more about quality over quantity.
Sadly, in his gym match against you, he stood no chance. He wasn't even able to land a single hit on your Raboot, let alone see the next member of your team. You wiped out his Pokémon in one hit. You didn't even have to Dynamax.
Of course, when you had such a strong bond with a Pokémon you are almost unbeatable. You and your Raboot were in perfect sync, you barely even had to direct her on what to do, when you did, she followed your orders with full trust.
After his crushing defeat, he approached you offering his gym badge, and some advice on where to next.
Since you had peaked his interest, he watched all your matches, watching as you took down his friends without drawing out a second Pokémon. Even Nessa with her water types stood no chance against the powerhouse fire type.
By Kabu's gym you had 3 Pokémon now, the last two still a mystery. Your Raboot evolved into a Cinderace, and the affects of the pyro ball were devastating on Kabu.
It wasn't until your fight with Opal that he was able to cross you again. This was also the first match where he was able to see another one of your Pokémon (by then you had 5). Upon the start of the battle, he prepared himself to see your Cinderace take the field. Instead a Toxapex appeared. Using the poison type advantage you wiped Opal with her only managing to land 2 hits.
He had been in Ballonlea on gym-leader business, but decided he had time to watch your match. "It's good to finally see another one of your Pokémon." he commented with a smile as he aproached you outside the gym.
"Milo?"
"Great job on the match, I was in town and decided to check it out. Your bond with your Pokémon amazes me as always."
"What do you mean as always? You've only seen me battle once?" You asked, tilting your head.
"Ah- Well, you see, it's. uh. Well, It's rare to see a trainer who has such a uhm strong bond with their Pokémon, so I just uh- wanted to see more of your matches. I- uh have really enjoyed watching your bond with Cinderace grow." he mumbled, turning bright red, and averting his eyes to the ground.
"Aww, that's so sweet. I'm glad you like watching my matches so much. Do you want to meet the full team?"
"Can I?"
"Sure, just don't go around telling everyone my team. I've been keeping them a secret to prepare for Leon." You winked at him, holding a finger to your lips, causing him to blush.
"I-I promise!" He squeaked, excited to see your Pokémon.
"Come on out guys!" You threw your pokeballs into the air. Cinderace and Toxapex were the pokemon he knew about, however a Mimikyu, Appletun, and a Shuckle were the remaing 3 team members.
Upon being released, the pokemon let out delighted cries and immediately ran up to you for pets, all letting out of noises of content as they snuggled up with you.
It wasn't until Milo gasped that their attention was snatched away. your Appletun and Shuckle approached the man in curiosity, while Mimikyu and Toxapex stayed by you. Cinderace glared at him, her arms crossed as she loomed next to you.
"Carnelian, it's okay, Milo's nice. Plus even if he wasn't, you could take him easily." You sent him a look that told him to play along.
"Haha yeah. I stood no chance against you when you were a Raboot, no way I'd stand a chance now." He rubbed the back of his head, while the rabbit stuck her chest out in pride.
"Now, why don't you go play with Aquamarine and Onyx?" The rabbit pokemon nodded and hopped over to play with the water and ghost types.
Turning to Milo you sent him an apologetic look. "I'm sorry, Carnelian and I have been through a lot together, so she's super protective. She doesn't like anyone getting near me, let alone men. The only way to ease her up is if she knows she's stronger."
"It's ok, I get it. Plus it's not like I was lying. Even without the type advantage, your bond is unbeatable."
"Yeah, I suppose it is." A small smile came to your face as you reflected on all your memories with your pokemon. "Anyways, now that you've seen my secret, you owe me a date."
The gentle giant exploded into red. "I-I What? I'm flattered I really am, but I'm sure you have much better things to do than spend time with someone like me."
"Hmm, sure I do, but I think you're super cute and want to get to know you more. How about you accompany me to Circhester?"
"I do have to head there next..." he mumbled. "Are you sure you don't mind?"
"Not at all. Traveling with company is always more fun, plus I meant what I said about wanting to get to know you better."
"O-Okay" He flushed as you grabbed his hand and pulled him into Route 8.
The 3 days he spent traveling with you allowed the two of you to grow close enough to start dating.
He watched in person as you crushed Gordie, but sadly could not attend your fight with Piers in person as he had to return to his gym.
"I promise I will be watching from home and cheering you on. Win for me ok?" he brought a hand down to rest on your head.
"I promise. Knowing you're cheering me on will make me win!" With a smile, you leaned up and gave him a small peck on the lips, which caused him to short circuit. "I'll see you at the champion cup!" With a wink, you ran off towards your next gym.
The day of the Champion cup comes, and as expected you destroy the semifinals with the new addition to your team, Morpeko. Marnie nor Hop stands a chance.
Before you can continue on to defeat Leon, you are interrupted by Chairman Rose and the whole Eternatus thing. Leading you and Hop to return to the slumbering weald to get the help of the legendary pokemon.
Finally after the match being pushed back two days, you were able to fight Leon. You did not breeze through this fight as quickly, struggling with his Inteleon and of course his partner, Charizard, but with the help of Carnelian, you and best friend defeated Leon and became the new champions.
As soon as the match was over, Milo had already scooped you up off the ground and was twirling you around. "YES! I KNEW YOU COULD DO IT! EVER SINCE YOU FIRST TOOK ON MY GYM I KNEW YOU WERE GONNA DO GREAT!"
Letting out a giggle a brilliant smile crossed your face. "I can't believe we did it!"
Back to the current battle, as expected you wiped the floor with Hop, just as you had done every time before. The male only laughed, exclaiming that it was good to battle you again.
After exchanging a hug, you turned to your boyfriend who was waiting with the dumbest grin on his face.
Upon seeing he had your attention, he slowly got down on one knee, eyes filled with love. "(Name), ever since I first saw your incredible bond with your pokemon, I have been smitten. I have watched proudly as you overcame every single challenge thrown your way and saved our region. I have been lucky enough to call myself your boyfriend, but would you let me be even luckier and call myself your fiancé?"
Throwing yourself onto him, tears filling your eyes, you screamed out a yes.
"I promise you will never feel unloved with me. I love you."
"I love you too."
(That turned out so much longer than planned oops. I recently replayed Sword cuz why not and uh oh hyperfixation back.)

Hey! I was wondering if you could write a romantic headcannon of the Rise bros doing their own things and s/o appearing out of nowhere demanding cuddles? You now, if you have time and only if you want to
Tumblr media
Neon Leon
He had been practicing some skate boarding tricks on the ramp when you appeared
He didn’t see you at first until you called out to him
“Leo! Can we cuddle?”
He may or may not have screamed
Lost his balance and face planted on the ramp
Ofc you rushed over to check on him
Thankfully he was fine, just a little bruised
“Guess I really fell for you, huh? Get it?”
Leo.
He doesn’t really mind all that much when you demand cuddles
He just gets caught off guard often
Especially since you seem to just pop out of nowhere
Can you portal or something???
After double checking that he’s okay,
He’ll gladly go to cuddle with you on the couch or in his bed
“You gotta kiss my bruise to make it better though.”
“Deal.”
Loves to cuddle with you
He does move around a lot though
Cant stay still for too long
But put on his favorite Jupiter Jim movie while cuddling, and y’all are good to go
Loves to be little spoon or cuddle on top of you
Favorite thing to do is bury his face in the crook of your neck or rest his head against your stomach
You two will just be cuddling and then-
“I can hear your stomach rumbling.”
“Oh my gosh, get up then-“
“No! It’s cute!”
4/5 doesn’t mind when you demand cuddles but always talks about how he can hear your stomach rumbling
Don Tron
He’ll be tinkering away at one of his projects in his lab, or playing a video game
You just walk in and stand near him quietly
You don’t tend to pop in out of nowhere since sometimes he’s working on something a tad bit- explosive
“…”
“…”
“…you want cuddles don’t you?”
“Yes.”
Depending on how much he can handle touch that day, he’ll either-
Get up and cuddle with you on his bed or on the couch
Both of you watching shows or YouTube videos on his tablet
Likes being big spoon
Feels very exposed when he cuddles as little spoon, usually has to take off his battle shell for this
But he trusts you, so he’ll let you be big spoon occasionally
Or
He’ll offer to sit with you
Usually on bean bags of your own, but still next to each other
He may hold your hand or just rest against you slightly
It’s not that he doesn’t enjoy cuddling with you
He just doesn’t feel up to physical contact some days, especially for long periods of time
Still does his best to make sure you’re both happy
3.5/5 depends on the day but he’s doing his best <3
Mystic Mike
You usually can find him drawing away or in the kitchen
You just burst in and pop yourself next to him
“Cuddles!”
He himself pops up out of nowhere often so he doesn’t get as surprised when you do it compared to his brothers
If he’s busy with cooking or in the middle of focusing on his art,
He’ll pause for a second and give you a big smooch before finishing whatever he’s doing
“Just one sec! Gotta finish this but I promise to cuddle you as long as you want right after!”
Holds his promise and holds it well
He’ll get snacks and drinks for y’all and set it near by
Sets up his phone or the tv so you two have something to watch
Or to just have it as background noise
He switches positions a lot when cuddling
Cant really stay still but doesn’t want to stop cuddling with you
One way to get him to stay still for a bit is to cuddle him while he’s partly, or fully, in his shell
Likes being little spoon
But loves when you both hold each other
Likes being able to look at you when talking
Also likes that he can give you kisses easily in this position
Plus he gets to hug you and you can hug him at the same time!
It’s a win win!
4.5/5 also moves around a lot but makes up for it with lots of snuggling and kisses
Big Red
Raph usually wanders around the lair so you have to look for him a bit
He screams loudly when you pop out of nowhere demanding cuddles
“Raph! Can we cuddle???” You ask, perched on top of the fridge.
“HOW DID YOU EVEN GET UP THERE!?”
He’s absolutely down to cuddle though
If he’s on the move for some reason,
He just picks you up, grabs a blanket, and wraps you up like a burrito before carrying you around
This way he can cuddle you and finish doing whatever it was he was doing
If he’s not busy though, he just picks you up and cuddles you anywhere
Couch? Yes!
Bed? Absolutely!
Beanbags? Sure!
Everything is occupied? Use him as a bed then!
He doesn’t mind
Loves to be big spoon
But if you’re larger than him, he enjoys being little spoon too
Does get worried that his spikes will hurt you tho
Usually will face you instead of having his back towards you
If you’re smaller though,
He just wraps himself around you
He literally becomes your bed and blanket
Gives you smooches on your forehead and cheeks
Usually plays soft music or just cuddles quietly
5/5 makes you feel so secure and relaxed
I hope you enjoyed!!
Sorry this took so long- got motivated to finish this at 2:27am ashshhagah
Reblogs appreciated <3

HELLO FRIENS I HAVE A WESKER REQUEST, A WESKQUEST IF YOU WILL…
What do you think dealing with a self aware yandere Wesker would be like?
Do you think he can see you playing other games (or killers if it’s DBD) and gets jealous and starts like trying to get your attention or makes it so you just…can’t play those games/killers anymore?
Like I imagine him subtly trying to just sorta…get the entity to lock some killers for you, or trying to epic hacker man his way into deleting files off your computer so the only games you can play are his.
What do you think dealing with his ass would entail? 🤔🤔
Also I love you guys’s work btw!! I’ve been having a tough time finding some real good Wesker x reader stuff that I haven’t read already and you guys are keeping me FED!!!!! 🥺 THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!
Helloo!! Someone had to feed us so why not me?
But yes it depends on the game!
Dbd Wesker locks you out from playing survivor and any other killer besides him, he knows that you would feel bad if you tried to fix it because that would mean potentially saying goodbye to him so you’ll do almost anything he wanted to do. And he wants to spend time with you. Not allowed to play survivor because the other resident evil characters “don’t deserve your time”, can’t play the other killers because he’ll get jealous, so he locks you out from playing anything other than him. Try to play the tutorial to play as the trapper? Nope. Just him.
You can prestige the other killers but you can’t play as them, you’re only allowed to play as him and give him the other killers’ perks. He might allow you to play survivor once he figures out how to copy himself onto a survivor so you’ll continue to play as him…even though he doesn’t fit the survivor role, he’ll do it for you since you want to play survivor so much.
It’s either a deal with the entity or him being sick and tired of you playing other killers and survivors and doing something about it himself. Entities and rules be damned. Will not outright tell you though…even if you do know he’s sentient.
In Resident evil, Wesker definitely makes it harder for you to get through the game and simply watches as you go through it, it’ll take longer and that’s what he wants. For you to stay longer with him, even though you’re playing as Chris and Jill, and then during the end game where you can play as him, he makes the sequence as long as possible, to feel your comforting control as you two go through the level together.
Resident evil Umbrella Chronicles? You’re stuck with him most of the game and he absolutely loves it. There’s nothing better than having you by his side the whole time. He still watches on during some events but at least you’re still with him, giving that same warm control over his aim.
You only see him briefly in RE 2…and he’s not very happy about that but there’s not much he can do about it either. However, he still watches your playthroughs, you’re still his player after all.
In resident evil 4 mercenaries, he’s definitely locking you out of playing the other characters. There’s only him that you’ll ever need to play as after all, you’re his player and he is the only one who can truly be your best character. He also gets jealous if you coo over Leon in the main game and might just have to edit the game code to fix his character model onto his, so you’ll continue to fawn over him instead. He’s very adamant that you spend time with him and doesn’t really like when you play other games but will watch from his little place on the screen.
In RE 5….oh brother you’re in a for a whole ride. First of all, he’s fucking pissed you’re playing as Chris and Sheva, he notices how you love to take screenshots of him in battles with him, so he makes sure to do all of his semi-rare animations for you to take photos of. Although he hates the thought of you playing as Chris or Sheva, he does love to hear you laugh as your friend gets charged by him, scaring them. You once ran around him in circles and he could not hit you even when he tried and good god did that make him angry but entertained. You’re so clever he would think. But once you finish the main story and start playing mercenaries and the other bonus content…and you’re taking more pictures of him. He will also make sure you will only ever play as him in mercenaries, he doesn’t need you to be playing as Chris now that he’s available to play as. As both STARS era and current era of him, you don’t need anything or anyone else. He also watches you play other games though, he likes watching you think.
Just be careful though…if these guys know of each other’s existence, unless they’re the same sentient Wesker following you through every game, they’re going to be very jealous.

Oh, god- ghrnbrgsgrb- uuuuggghhh
The fan part of me won, and I am now watching ROTMNT.
And in all honesty, it's actually pretty good.
Leo and Mikey are still my fave, though, I've really warmed up to this Raph and Donnie too.
I love the fact that they made Raph the leader for the fact that he is the biggest and strongest, and because he's the older brother, but (even though I haven't finished watching it Tumblr hast already shown) I love that they're taking their time in having Leon learn and earn his way to being leader, especially in the movie (no I haven't watched it yet but I will), I also love the character persona they gave him too.
So far I'm still in season 1 of the show, but, so far I love the goofiness, love the animation fluency (and the parts where they're stock still like they were being carried away by the bats in the mystic library which btw is fucking hilarious), and I actually really like the character design style, which was actually the thing that put me off watching the show all those years back, but it has, like all the other shows of the franchise before than, grown on me.
Oh, and I LOVE April.
I just really love this one she's actually pretty relatable and I love that anytime she goes into a fight or battle or action she just yells out her name. She is best.

I’d love to see how your list compares to mine! What is your ranking from worst to best rivals through the series?
NOTE - I am using the official rivals listing on Bulbapedia as of August 2023, before the Scarlet/Violet DLC is released.
24. MAY - I don’t remember much about her dialogue. She’s a less memorable Serena for me, since you’re never directly competing with May during the League Challenge and any personality she happens to have doesn’t stand out in my memory as much as Brendan’s does.
23. SERENA - Probably the most generic of all of the battle-rivals. Her responses are more human than Calem’s, but this results in her being less interesting.
22. BRENDAN - Vaguely interesting in the context of him being a bit of a soft boy compared to May (who, if I recall correctly, is a bit more of a go-getter), but there’s still very little to him. My clearest memory of him being interesting is in Emerald when Scott comments on the fact that Brendan looks very upset after you fight and defeat him (I think this is after the Weather Institute side quest, but I can’t be sure).
21. CALEM - Slightly more interesting than Serena due to his dialogue always coming off as vaguely unsettling to me. A small part of me wonders if he’s an android because of how monotonous he sounds; I entertain the idea that he’s a bit of a stone cold bitch and has a hard time emoting, even around friends.
20. MARNIE - I find Marnie in execution to be incredibly dull and grating. She’s edgy but doesn’t go as comically overboard with it as Gladion does; she’s soft-spoken and confident but doesn’t have the same casual ruthlessness as someone like Penny (who isn’t even an official rival). As an objective concept, though, she’s an interesting narrative foil for Hop. Marie also has an older brother who’s a member of the League, but where Hop hangs his entire worth on being just like Leon, Marnie respects Piers as an individual with his own style and she wants to surpass him on her own terms.
19. BARRY - I find him pretty annoying in general. He has one shining moment though, when Jupiter defeats him at Lake Acuity and he resolves to be more mature and honourable. He’s slightly more difficult to fight in Platinum, especially if he has a Torterra, but he’s nothing outstanding.
18. TRACE - Trace is very cute and friendly, but ultimately unmemorable. I enjoy him in a very surface-level way; the Let’s Go games are definitely “baby’s first Pokemon game”, but I enjoy coming back to them every once in a while.
17. TREVOR - I appreciate that XY re-touched on the idea that rivals didn’t have to want the same things as you do, and could still be rivals without taking on the League, but we don’t see Trevor enough for it to be effective. Trevor is also the biggest indicator that XY, or any Pokemon game outside of the original BW, was deathly afraid of making the player be anything less than perfect. Trevor challenges the player to Pokedex comparisons and he always loses, no matter how few monsters you’ve seen or caught. I wish there was a threshold you had to pass in order to beat him; he deserves to be a winner too!
16. WALLY - Objectively he’s pretty neat and unique, but in reality I forget that he exists like, all of the time. Sorry, buddy!
15. GLADION - I like Gladion in a humorous, meta kind of way. He’s so out of place in the tropical environment of Alola, and I love how Hau is undeterred by his edgelord bullshit. Outside of that, I don’t think about him too much.
14. N - N is curious because he’s pretty specific to his context, which is very unique amongst a sea of generic battle protagonists. He’s an uber-special Magical Boy with the ability to talk to Pokemon, which Ghetsis took advantage of. In my opinion, N is only as effective as a rival as Ghetsis is as a villain; they’re so dependent on each other for their narrative success that I really feel like they both fall apart in B2W2.
13. SILVER - It’s both interesting and annoying to watch Silver use the player as a scapegoat for dealing with his own personal problems. I’m not very familiar with any of the Johto games, so Silver unfortunately loses out on ranking any higher just because I don’t have a lot of experience with him.
12. SHAUNA - There are a few throwaway lines of dialogue that Shauna has that hint at her potential to be interesting: if you play as a boy, she confesses to maybe having a crush on the player (you could also view the scene with the female character through the same lens, but it’s less obvious); shauna makes a comment that pertains to a sense of insecurity compared to her friend group. Neither of these instances are brought up for the rest of the game.
11. HUGH - To be honest, I find Hugh to be pretty forgettable. I like how he has a strong goal outside of being your rival, but his aggressive personality wore a bit thin after a while. I do appreciate that he’s never mean to the player, no matter how he treats other people, and he always counts on your support in full.
10. TIERNO - I really like Tierno’s confidence in his goal and the fact that it’s got nothing to do with collecting badges or becoming Champion. He’s a pretty one-note character, but the note is done relatively well.
9. CHEREN - This is the first time GameFreak approached the idea of a rival really getting frustrated by their losses against the player (Blue might have fiddled with the concept, but I’m not totally sure). Unfortunately, right when his arc starts getting interesting in BW, it feels like the story gets dropped in favour of the Team Plasma nonsense. I do like how Cheren is treated in B2W2 - becoming a League member and being the first Gym Leader you fight. He has to be the sendoff for new trainers rather than a later challenge that can eviscerate you if you aren’t prepared; I think he even brings this up with Prof. Juniper during an X-transceiver call. Granted, he’s not pushover even as the first gym leader, but still.
8. BLUE - The original rival, and he’s a good one too! I appreciate how you can view his jerk-y behaviour as either a signal that he considers the player a good friend and feels comfortable enough to neg them without consequence, or that he’s jealous of Prof. Oak’s interest in the player and antagonises you as a result. I also enjoy watching his following character arc, from GSC/HGSS where he achieves a position of authority, to SM/USUM where he fully mellows out into adulthood.
7. KLARA - I’m not too familiar with Klara since I played Shield instead of Sword, but I like how she’s not a carbon copy of Avery and instead has her own unique backstory and motivation. I prefer her overall design, but I think Avery’s backstory is more compelling.
6. AVERY -  One one hand, he’s super cringe and poorly dressed. On the other hand, I love his motivation and the fact that he’s treating you, effectively a little nobody, with such visceral disdain. I love how he’s dying to prove himself worthy to his family name, but he’s put himself into a situation where he doesn’t have to try hard in order to surpass his peers, thus he never improves. When the player walks in and swiftly kicks his ass, he’s completely floored, and responds with a mixture of honest effort and mischievous shenanigans.
5. HAU - A certified good boy! I enjoy Hau a lot - I like his optimism and his mischievous streak. I personally think USUM ruined him a little bit by making him your final League fight instead of Kukui and by having him be bummed when he loses; it takes away some of his charm.
4. BEDE - Bede is such a punchable little snot and I love him. He fulfils his purpose as a rival perfectly; it’s so satisfying to absolutely demolish this frou-frou little jerkwad. I love how he’s still a dick even after his disqualification. My one qualm with how he was handled is that his Pokeball throw animation is changed to something more generic after he become a Gym Leader-in-training, and it sucks because his first one was so much more unique.
3. HOP - I used to really dislike Hop, and I will fully admit that my reasons for liking him boil down to headcanons and heavy personal interpretation, but my opinion of him has definitely improved. He’s like an odd medium between Barry and Cheren - he’s annoying and overconfident in the beginning, but it’s heartbreaking to watch his dreams being crushed in real time and have it basically be all your fault. I initially really wished he would have gotten angry and let loose, but now I understand that that would have been breaking an integral part of his character, which is his kindness.
2. BIANCA - I really love Bianca’s arc, from the fight with her dad in Nimbasa City to her apprenticeship under Prof. Juniper. While May and Brendan might have been GameFreak’s first foray into non-traditional rivals, Bianca is the first character who really nailed the concept. She’s no pushover as a trainer, either!
1. NEMONA - The bestest girl in the whole world; an absolute fucking sweetheart; I would commit crimes for her. I love how supportive she is over the player while also desperately trying to reign in her own obsessive personality (to mixed success). I was always compelled to pick the dialogue options that would make her the happiest. I wish her final team was a bit more challenging, or had more of a theme to it, but that’s my only gripe with her. She’s so endearing and relatable.

A Champion Time For The Heart Ch39 Pasio Adventures P2
(This is just a compilation of the events that happened with most everyone on Pasio Island in Pokemon Masters EX with all the substories I can remember. If I miss any I apologize. Will be labeled with time skips and Months to keep track of time. The time everyone's away is one year. If I get any of Pasio's city or landscape described wrong in this story I apologize.)
-JANUARY TO MARCH-
Leon had arrived.
That's why there had been such a big fuss this morning, everyone on this side of the region was leaving their homes in waves towards thee docks and Pasio's Star Arena to await the arrival of the famous unbeatable Champion. You had arrived a month earlier in January along with Bea and the guys at Leon's insistance. He had to prepare a few things before he left and didn't want his brothers and sister to be running around Pasio by themselves or Allister for that matter and you agreed since it meant keeping these guys out of trouble as well. So he had quickly gotten you a passport and cruise ticket, made sure you were fully packed, explained everything to your boss, helped set up your rotomi phone with your new rotom you decided to name 'Sparky', given you his phone number, and had sent you on your way with Hop and the twins. Sonia wasn't too far behind and you had met up with Bea and Allister at the Hulbury docks, and one seasick cruise later arrived in Pasio where you were set up in one of the hotel's and Allister was handed over to you to start watching over for the next ten months you'd be here. ....Sigh. How did you get yourself into these things. A few things had happened while Leon was gone. You ran into Bede as he finished chasing off a couple weird people with masks when walking around with Allister. Team Break if you recalled it right. You were more surprised Bede was picked to come here without Opal. Then again he did make it very far in the Battle Tower, it must've impressed Prince Lear enough to invite him along. Gloria and Victor started training together and had ran into Raihan and Gordie for a battle before Nessa and Melony decided to jump in and spar a three on three boys vs girls battle. Hop and Victor went hanging out with that boy Scottie they seemed to become quick friends with. And Gloria met Scottie's twin Bettie, while training in the Pasio woods not too far from the hotel you all were staying at. Having two pairs of scottish twins made it a bit much but you were glad they were making friends, meanwhile you were keeping an eye on Allister and helping the shy boy navigate the crowds. Until the news that Leon had arrived with Piers and Marnie that is. Gloria had practically busted down your doors and immediately demanded you get up and meet them at the stadium while she went off to fetch him. ..Which lead to you now sitting in the arena stadium with Allister sitting to your left nervously looking around at the crowd and Hop and Victor to your right who were excitedly cheering on the exhibition matches at hand. You were used to big crowds by now and only watched with a smile as they played. But they sure made you wait long enough, they had to unpack and get situated with Sync Stones before they could even get to the arena. So it went. Gloria vs Alder and her winning. Marnie vs Karen from the Johto Elite Four, Karen winning. It seemed Piers chose to not fight, and then it was Leon vs another Region's Champion, Blue. When it was all over you knew it'd be a while before Leon even got away from the crowds so you decided it would just be best to take Allister to get some lunch away from the big crowds to help with his anxiety. You expected Allister to cling to you as you both left the stadium but what you weren't expecting was Sparky to come flying out of your pocket with a buzzing sound and incoming call.
"*PZZZT* Incoming call from Leon! Do you wish to Accept or Decline?," the rotom asked with your phone ringing.
Leon was calling you from the middle of the arena? Holding Allister's hand you smiled. "Accept call, Sparky."
Soon enough a familiar voice came through the phone. "Hello? Y/N!?"
"Hi, Leon," you answered back with a smile and there was a relieved sigh through the other side. "Oh thank goodness I can here your voice. Where are you? I can't find you in the crowd."
"Allister needed some food." Said boy was holding your hand and excitedly pointing at a nearby hot chocolate stand, being January it was still fairly chilly outside so it made sense he'd want some. "And I think he was overwhelmed in there so I wanted to give him some space."
"O-Oh," the voice now sounded a bit sad. "Oh I understand. Did uh-...D-Did you see me win?"
"Of course I did! Great job out there by the way! I think you did a great job getting the crowds excited."
"Thanks! I think so too....Hey. Listen. There's a few things I need to do here as a part of my deal to come here with Prince Lear so it's going to be a little bit before I can actually see you again."
That stung a bit, after all you all hadn't really had time to see one another for almost a month by this point but you understood it was just his duties as a Champion. "Hey. No worries. I have my own hands fully taking care of Allister. Just do what you have to, and you can always call me."
He again sighed relieved. "THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I promise I'll try to get everything finished as soon as possible. When we get back together I have a surprise for you!"
"Oh?"
"Yeah. There's someone I want you to meet. But I can't tell you because it's a surprise."
A surprise huh? And he wanted to introduce you to someone? Well guess you were going to have to wait and find out who exactly it was. Well almost four weeks went by again and you still didn't see him. Gloria made more friends with two girls called May and Leaf, and Leon made sure to keep in touch by calling you and making sure everything was going ok and kept you in the loop of what had been going on. He got lost on his way to a pokemon center and got seperated from Charizard, luckily he ran into Scottie who helped him out. Scottie ran into him again battling a different Champion, Steven Stone, and the two almost caused a rock slide with their battles and almost getting lost again trying to find the Pasio woods. You facepalmed twice at that. And then he did a few promotional things for Galar, probably for the Chairwoman to help straighten out Galar's good name. And he got into a debate with two other Champions, Lance and Mr. Stone again, over...Capes?? You shook your head at that one and had to assure him his cape was in fact very dapper on him. Which made him super happy. Then February came and the holiday called 'Palentine's Day' arrived. It was essentially a Pasio holiday similar to Valentine's Day but it was less heavy on the romance aspect and was more about showing love towards your friends and family. So you received a few Palentine's Day treats from the trio and a couple wild flowers from Allister he picked for you and Bea. In the mean time you busied yourself with just caring for Allister and met a couple other people from Pasio and different Regions, some you remembered from the previous games you met some you didn't. Cynthia was very nice when you ran into her at a local ice cream shop and Allister bumped into her legs...Oh. There was also a couple villains chased off the islands. Giovanni was one of them. Yeah. After all your adventures, you weren't surprised in the least that one of the game villains was here. Unfortunately it meant pushing some plans for the Master's League. Sigh. Luckily by the time the end of February came around you were FINALLY able to meet up with Leon when he called you and asked to meet him at a cafe close by to the current hotel you were staying at. Quickly agreeing you gathered Allister and made for the cafe that he mentioned. The stone streets flew with your quick steps, holding Allister's hand to keep up pace until you came to the small cafe called 'The Lazy Rockruff' and walked on in. Already the cafe was PACKED with locals and trainers alike chattering and eating food and there you spotted Leon when he stood beaming that smile and waved over towards you both! Two people were next to him. One was Hop who looked as excited to see you as Lee was, and across from then was a girl who looked to be around the same age as Leon.
"Beauty! Over here," he called out beckoning you to come over.
Smiling you headed on over with Allister and the first thing you did upon reaching Leon was embrace him fully throwing your arms around his neck and felt him practically crush you with how close he pressed you to himself.
"Oh thank Arceus." He breathed relieved with a sigh and smile. "I missed you so much! I'm finally able to see you again."
"Hey!" You spoke back beaming pulling away from him. "I missed you too. I hope you don't mind me bringing Allister along."
"Of course not!," he quickly clarified shooting a smile to the boy holding onto your pants leg and he perked up seeing a familiar face. "Hey, Al! It's so good to see you again! Are you hungry?" Allister quickly nodded making the Champion chuckle, "Then you're in luck! This cafe happens to have some of the best food in Pasio! Oh! That reminds me." Smiling back to you Leon stepped aside and threw a hand at the woman sitting there smiling at Leon amused. "Y/n. I want you to meet someone special to me. This is our cousin, Iris. She's the champion from the Unova Region. She's here competing in the Masters League too!"
His cousin!? You blinked surprised over to her and were surprised to see how similar this woman looked to Hop and Leon. She had her hair up in a styled ponytail that was a darker shade of purple than Leon's, but her skin tone was the same. Her eyes though were a dark brown instead of that shiny gold that all of Leon's other family had. On her head was a small golden crest with green emeralds and she wore a pretty pink and white Nessa would've loved.
"Your cousin?," you asked surprised before smiling. "Um. Hi. Nice to meet you. I'm Y/n!"
"Oh I know," Iris said happily glancing at Leon, "I've heard all about you. Mostly because someone wouldn't stop gushing about you the entire time." Leon froze...before his face lit up a red and he rubbed his neck making his cousin chuckle. "I swear you're such a kid! You haven't changed one bit since I last saw you."
"H-Hey! I was just twelve then! I'm much better than I was-"
"You still get lost on your way to the bathroom!," she stated back more amused making Leon squawk an embarrassed noise before she turned to Hop and reached up to pat her younger cousin on the head. "But not you! Look at you all grown up saving Galar and becoming a professor!" She cooed making Hop groan. "But when are you gonna stop really being a kid and ask that Gloria girl out already?"
And it was Hop's turn to light up red face. "IRIS!? DON'T SAY THAT OUT LOUD!! SOMEONE MIGHT HEAR!!"
"So you're a Champion too huh?" You asked catching her attention, which was your plan to give these two boys a break. "Wow. I knew Lee and Hop would have impressive positions but I didn't know it ran in the family."
She shrugged at your compliment but still smiled. "It wasn't just handed to me so you know. I had to work for it same as them, but I don't think you're here to compete either right?"
You shook your head gesturing to Allister climbing on a chair. "I was hired to be Al's caretaker since he's too young to be by himself."
"Oh, how cute!" She gushed at Allister who sat down and looked at you expectantly. Oh right. He was hungry. "How are you enjoying Pasio so far?"
"It's a beautiful region," you answered sitting down by Allister and picking up a menu, "I've been having a fun time meeting all the different people and seeing so many pokemon!" You handed the menu to Allister so he could read over it to see what he wanted. "Some of the mini events the Prince put on have been entertaining too-"
"Oh wait!," Leon interrupted you two, making you look at him as he fumbled with something in his pockets, before pulling out a small pink box and shoving it towards you with a nervous smile. "H-Happy Belated Valentine's Day, Y/n!! I-I-I know it's late b-b-but I don't know when I'll see you again with the events coming up and I wanted to make it up to you for missing the holiday! I-I hope you like chocolate."
You blinked at his gift for a moment before smiling pink cheeked and taking it. "I do...Thank you."
Leon smiled. "Anything for you Beauty!"
"Beauty..You called me that twice. Is that your new nickname for me?"
He nodded. "Of course! Because you're beautiful to me.~"
Now it was your turn to light up red faced at his woods, but a small slam of Iris's hands against the table startled you both and Hop and Allister into looking at her determined face as she inhaled and pointed at you two.
"OK! SPILL! I want details on these two! Tell me all about your traveling and how you two got together! And don't leave out a single detail! I need to know how you two got together so I can help Hop overcome his dating crisis!!"
"IRIS!! DONT SAY THAT!!"
Well to say Iris was excited to meet you was an understatement. She was a lot like Hop in some ways and Leon in others with her own personality slipped in. Oh well. At least Allister was able to get something to eat. And Leon wasn't lying when he said he was going to be busy for a while either. There was going to be a Festival of Champions, a.k.a all the Champions coming together to entertain the masses until the actual major events could happen taking place later this March. Leon wanted to take this chance to be with you and introduce you to some more of his family before you both had to part again. Can't say you didn't enjoy the time...but it was funny to see both the brothers get flustered by their cousin's antics.
-APRIL TO JUNE-
It was fairly warm now and things were starting to pick up this month especially with all the events scheduled in the next two and a half months. Leon was training hard after the Champion event to train with Raihan for the Time Trials. You managed to convince Allister to join a couple harmless but fun events like a fun little easter egg hunt and a small Tea Party held by these two Twin Subway bosses running into Marnie and Sonia there. You also ran into Gloria battling Bettie in her old dojo suit from the Isle of Armor, apparently she had been wired the urshifu to care for a little bit and she wanted to try her luck with battling with it. Then there was the New Stars of Pasio Tournament and the Friendiversy surprise Raihan and Leon planned for the Prince who was busy running around planning the main event and trying to control everything. You didn't blame the two for trying to get the Prince to relax. Seemed Lear had a lot on his plate as it was with all this planning for the end of the year with the few villains pushing everything back by two months and spontaneously coming up with these smaller events to keep everyone entertained in the meantime...But you were glad he wasn't pestering you like he did at the party. But SOMETHING happened halfway through June. The Time Trials event had just ended and you thought you'd be able to see Leon after he took a break from the events, but that wasn't meant to be. Imagine sleeping in the middle of the night and feeling the entire earth suddenly shake with an earthquake under your feet. It was so hard you fell off your bed and onto the floor with a loud yelp and cry of pain as the ground continued to shake and the fair off cry of multiple loud dynamaxed pokemon reached your ears-...Making your eyes pop open in panick because the only other time this happened here was because those goons were forcibly dynamaxing pokemon. But...THIS COULDN'T BE HAPPENING HERE!! There wasn't any natural dynamax particles in Pasio! And no one brought their dynamax bands with them on the trip over here. You had just gotten up as the shaking stopped, the distant sounds of giant pokemon getting more distant ready to go see just what the heck was going on but those plans were dashed when your door was suddenly thrown open and in ran Allister who immediately ran straight for your legs throwing his arms around you and burying his face into your pants leg.
"Y-Y/N!!," he wailed clearly terrified and shaking, "What's going on!?"
"I don't know." You flinched and turned your head towards the ceiling as a far away pokemon cry was heard. "...But let's just stay inside until everything calms down, ok?"
Safe to say neither of you got a wink of sleep that night staying awake for the rest of the night and waiting for morning to come before daring to venture outside again at all and when you did everything seemed-....Normal?? Well normal-ish. There was lots of other people walking around confused and looking around at seemingly nothing. There wasn't any signs of giant pokemon anywhere and after a couple hours most everyone just went back to their normal lives and seemed to shrug off last night's events. But you and Allister were still on edge. Was there another villain visit? What even HAPPENED last night? You tried calling Leon to no avail and you couldn't find Hop or the twins anywhere you searched! You were getting worried at this point asking around but it seemed like no one saw any of your friends or boyfriend. You got your answer later that day when the sun was just going down and Sparky again alerted you to something.
"*PZZZT* Incoming call from Leon!", he called out flying from your pocket, "Do you wish to Accept or Decline?"
"Accept!," you answered immediately and Sparky accepted the call to which you rose a brow at. "LEON!! I've been trying to get ahold of you all day! Did you feel that shaking last night?! I can't find anyone anywhere!"
There was silence from Leon's end of the line before he finally answered. "U-Um...Eeeeh. Oh. Uh-...YYyyeaaaahh. About that-.." He started out in a low tone making you raise your brows. He sounded EXTREMELY nervous and stuttered as he spoke. "Um...I-Is Allister with you?''
You glanced to the little boy who was currently holding you hand with one hand and drinking a soda with the other watching a nearby pokemon battle (probably because one of the battling pokemon was a Haunter-) and not paying attention to you at all. "Of course he is...Why do you ask?"
"Could you meet Bea at the Lazy Rockruff cafe so she can watch him for a b-bit?" Your brow rose higher.
"...Why?"
"I- Uh-...G-Got something important to show you. Can you meet me by Pasio's woods? Please? I promise I can explain everything!"
Your brow rose higher? What was this so about? And so close to the end of the day. Well can't say you didn't want answers and Leon did ask you. Sigh. The things you got yourself into for the people you cared about. Well you did drop off Allister with Bea who thankfully took him before you made your way for he woods...Except Leon didn't say WHERE in the blasted forest to meet at!! By the time you even got there in was dark and you spent twenty mintues now just walking around shouting his name and straining your eyes to search for him in the growing dark-
"Y/N!!" You screamed and whipped around arm swinging on instinct and Leon ducked at JUST the right moment your fist went flying over his head but knocking his hat off and onto the ground with a thud. "Whoa, whoa, whoa! Cease fire!" He quickly snapped back up holding his hands with a panicked expression. "It's just me!!"
You froze arm still raised staring at Leon...before sighing in relief. And slowly lowering your hands. "ARCEUS LEE!! DONT. DO. THAT!!" The man chuckled nervously as you frowned and crossed your arms. "Where have you been!? I've been looking for you all over this creepy forest! And what are you even doing here in the middle of the night?! It's creepy out here!"
"Uh-...Ye-Yeah. Um-..." His hand rubbed the back of his neck. "Hey, Y/n. Do you remember when you met Iris?"....Your brows furrowed more as he slowly and shakily reached down to pick up his hat and smile nervously. "W-Well-...I want you to meet someone else, but I know a lot of people would freak s-s-so I asked ya to meet me here."
"....I'm sorry. You lost me there. Can you start from the beginning?"
He opened his mouth and closed it multiple times, moving his hands around as he gestured at nothing and anything and went between fiddling with his hat and rubbing his neck between those gestures as he went between stuttering and silently opening his mouth seeming to try and form words. Meanwhile you stared at him harder trying to figure out what the heck he was trying to say before he just froze...Like literally just froze as if someone pressed pause on him. Gold eyes going wide and going behind you panickily, sweat forming on his face. What was- You froze as a breath of warm air suddenly hit the back of your body and a shadow blocked out the moonlight behind you. The hair on the back of your neck stood on end feeling the presence behind you as something VERY large towered over you-...and every SO SLOWLY you turned your head to look behind your shoulder. And your jaw dropped in a silent terrified scream!! Standing above you was a MONSTER!! A glowing black and red reptile snake skeleton thing floated just above you taking a few curious sniffs at your iced form. It made some kind of rumble grunt noise before tilting it's head at you curiously like a curious yamper. Meanwhile Leon continued to sweat furiously and smile even more nervously.
"U-Um...So! Uh-..S-Surprise! Ahaha! Um. Y-Y/n, you remember Eternatus right? Wo-Would you believe he crash landed here on Pasio!? HAHA!! F-Funny coincidence right!?"
You continued to stare at the thing above you before you took the deepest and loudest inhale of air you ever took, and slowly turned back to your boyfriend. "Leon." Leon flinched. "You have exactly ten seconds to explain what the frick frack snick snack in Arceus's name is going on before I lose my crap and scream!"
-JULY TO SEPTEMBER-
Well you took the news that not only did Eternatus survive but was now a permanent member of Leon's team well-.....Eventually. He had to explain everything and then had to have Hop and Gloria RE-explain just so you could wrap your head around it. Oh and apparently Steven Stone had requaza so Leon said there was nothing to worry about because if one Champion had a legendary pokemon then surely he could handle it. You however took a while to come to terms with that fact and decided to keep your distance from the thing for now. Of all the luck in the world right? Sigh.
How did these things keep happening to You of all people?
Leon begged you to give it a chance and that he'd make sure it was kept in safe hands and to not hate him for this. Sigh. You could argue with the puppy eyes he was giving you and agreed but said he had better keep a close eye on it. He couldn't stop hugging you and thanking you for over an hour. Sigh. Oh well. At least the thing was contained by the strongest trainer you knew. There was comfort in that at least. In the meantime you had others things to keep you busy. Taking care of Allister 24/7 was one of those things. He had a tendency to wonder off in the middle of the night to search for ghost pokemon so you had to keep an extra close eye on him. But today seemed like a normal day. You were able to see Leon for a bit before he had to leave since he agreed to meet up with some trainers that day to practice some battles before you gave him a kiss good bye on the cheek and going on your way. Everyone you knew was busy this day. Marnie and Gloria were running some kind of beach cafe stand with some new summer outfits Nessa slapped together for them and asked to borrow Silver for one of their games, Victor was training with Nessa for the Masters League, and you were pretty sure Hop was collecting some fur samples from some native Pasio pokemon for Sonia today. Everyone else was doing something else or competing in the new mini event the prince announced over the TV today. It was called The Battle of Gold or something like that, you were too busy taking care of Allister to pay much attention to it. So it was just you, Allister, and Zen after he finally decided to not sleep in and follow you around today. After seeing Leon at the center you got some breakfast, and decided to go on a walk to the woods today. It was the last month of summer and it'd be a good idea to get some fresh air and enjoy the nice weather before it got too cold. Plus it was a nice way to let Allister play around without bumping into a whole lot of people or lose him in the big crowds. Which was why you were smiling and watching as Allister ran in front of you zigzagging between a couple trees in a mix of tag and hide and seek with his Gengar who harmlessly chased after the boy popping in and out of the shadows making him let off rare high pitched laughs you otherwise wouldn't hear out of him. You were expecting him to have fun. What you weren't expecting was to run into someone while out here while you were just watching Allister and turned hearing the sound of something rustling through the brush, only to blink when a head of fluffy white hair and familiar pink coat came walking out of the woods and seemed just as surprised to see you standing there too. Before he gave his usual huff and frown.
"Hmph. It's just you." Turning his head he looked off to the side, "What are you doing here?"
"I'm taking Allister out for the day," you answered brow raising, "What are you doing in the middle of the woods?"
"Training for the Masters League of course! What else would I being with my time?," he stated matter of factly making Allister pause and look over towards the both of you for a moment...before his gengar tagged him making him squeal and give chase again. "I have to practice if I'm going to challenge Leon and every other champion here with my superior fairy types! Is it a crime to want to train where I won't be disturbed?"
"No. I was just surprised to see you out here is all."...You gave a smile before holding out your hand to him to shake which seemed to startle him making him flinch and blink at your smile. "Congratulations on making it into the competition! You did a great job battling back in the Star Tournament and the Battle Tower."
He still continued to stare at you dumbfounded before huffing again keeping his hands in his pockets. "Hmph. Not good enough. I still didn't win-"
"It doesn't matter if you win or lose, Bede," you interrupted him making him blink at your firm frown, "You can't expect to win every battle. Not even the Champions expect to win every battle they have. Even Leon lost some. But it doesn't matter who's the strongest or has the better pokemon. All that matters is that you try your best." He blinked when your hand patted his shoulder with a smile. "You're better at me with battling, and you were good enough to catch Prince Lear's attention to come here and compete. So don't be so hard on yourself. You're going to become strong, but at your own pace."
Bede's purple eyes continued to get wider and wider until he looked away embarrassed. "...I-I see. ...W-Well then I suppose one's own pace would best for d-discovering one's strength."
You smiled wider. "There you go. Don't worry about it too much. Just go at your own pace and everything will be ok."
While you talked to him Allister's gengar disappeared behind a giant bush and of course the little boy pushed some branches out of the way to follow him before he paused, masked eyes blinking at something behind the bush, before he excitedly hurried his way through the bush disappearing to the other side after the thing he saw. Meanwhile Bede hesitated when you pulled your hand away from him and looked back forward before looking back up and blurtin something out.
"Thankyou!''
You blinked at him. "...What?"
"I-I-I s-said-," he stuttered before clearing his throat and taking a breath. "I said. T-Thank you. For-...Blocking Oleana from me. I never got to thank you so I-I'm saying it now because I hate owing people things and I no longer w-want to owe you a thank you!"
You still stared at him for a moment but smiled as he embarrassedly looked away. "Hey. No problem." Your head turned back to Allister, but froze when you saw he was no longer in your line of sight. "ALLISTER!?" You suddenly shouted startling Bede and making Zen look up from the random tree he was sharpening his claws on. A spike of panic and fear spearing into your brain and down your spine-
"O-Over here." A small voice called and you heads turned to a movement in a bush before the limbs moved and a masked head timidly poked it's head out revealing Allister. ..He timidly waved at Bede. "H-Hi."
You breathed a sigh of relief. "Allister, don't run off like that. You scared me for a second....What are you even doing inside that bush?" You assumed playing hide and seek with his gengar.
He perked up and motioned for you to follow him. "Come see! I-I found something fun."
He disappeared back into the bush and you and Bede exchanged a look before following him, pushing through the giant bush and knocking off a few leaves before coming out the other sides. On the other side was Allister and his gengar, who was holding a giant yellow ball. The gengar was having fun throwing the giant yellow ball up and down in the air and laughing as it easily bounced on the ground. It looked like ones of those giant exercise balls you'd see yoga instructors use. Again you and Bede looked at each other in a confused manner. Well THIS was strange. What was a giant toy ball doing in the middle of the woods? Your head looked around the woods, but there wasn't anyone else around so where did this ball come from?
"I-Isn't it cool?," Allister asked happy to have found such a neat thing in the middle of the woods. His Gengar chuckled and softly bounced the giant ball to Allister who stumbled one or two steps catching it considering it was bigger than him, but he only giggled and easily held up the light weighted toy up. Giving you a hopeful look. "C-Can I keep it?"
"Well-..." You again looked around seeing no signs of anyone between the trees other than you three. Until eventually you shook your head no. "We better not. It doesn't belong to us and someone's probably going to come back looking for it."
"O-Oh..." He sadly shuffled his shoulders before looking back up. "C-Can I still play with it?"
"Sure. Just remember we have to put it back before we leave."
Allister nodded. "Ok! I will!" You smiled at how cute he was and Bede half way rolled his eyes before something large and yellow was softly rolled into his legs. Bede blinked at it before following the golden thing to Allister who nervously shuffled half way behind it. "U-Um...D-Do you wanna pl-play with me?"
The question shocked the both of you staring at Allister stunned before Bede blinked. "W-Well I-..*ahem* Well that's certainly a question. I-..'' He glanced between you and Allister looking lost. "I-I-I suppose... so?"
Allister seemed as surprised as you before he perked up. "R-Really?! Ok!" Before Bede could say anything Allister grabbed the golden ball and began pushing it towards a small opening in the trees within your eye sight. "C-C'mon! Y-You can watch Gengar juggle me and the ball!"
Bede blinked before a half alarmed look came over him. "Did you say 'juggle you'? Now wait a minute! Don't you consider that unsafe?" He quickly walked after the boy holding up a hand. "Let's not do that! We can play catch instead! A nice safe game without heights!"
You laughed at the sudden worry on Bede's face and decided to stand there and watch the two play around. There was just something so amusing about watching Bede fumble about to try and be gentle with Allister, and you laughed when the gengar spooked him by popping out of Bede's shadow. But to your surprise Bede didn't go off on any rants or say anything that might've made Allister feel bad. The two seemed to be getting along pretty decently. Opal did a good job with getting Bede out of that negative mindset Rose put him in. Yeah. He'd be alright. You stood there for a good twenty five minutes watching the two interact before something caught your attention. Hey. Wait a second. Where was Zen? You turned back to the bush before looking back at the two kids, they were both currently softly rolling the ball back and forth between them. It'll only take a moment to pop back through the bush and see where your zangoose went. Everything should be alright. So you turned and stepped back through the bush for just a second looking around-...And sighing when you spotted the zangoose lazily laying by the now clawed up tree from earlier in a patch of sun, but he did look up to you upon hearing the bush rustling. A smile graced your face seeing your boy yawn showing his large fangs off- and then a shriek pierced the air making you freeze and Zen immediately jump to his feet fur bristling down his back-
"Y/N!! Y/N!!! Y/N!!", Allister's usually meek voice wailed like he was on fire splitting the air open like a knife.
Your body moved on it's own on instinct at this point being used to protecting kids from danger and your instincts were on high alert as you literally came flying through the bush on the other side and stopped in your tracks at what slapped your vision. A stranger with black and white hair was standing there. A VERY tall man that would've even towered over Leon if he was here, he was staring at Bede eyes narrowed, and he was wearing some kind of weird red samurai suit that made clacking noises when his body moved. In front of him Allister was crying into his Gengar's side as the poor pokemon patted his back in a poor attempt to console him and Bede narrowed his eyes right back pointing at the strange man and yelling at him, and you understood why when you spotted a familiar golden ball held over the man's head.
"Listen here you uncouth fiend!," Bede hissed at the man, "You give that toy back this instant or else! Who are you to even take from a tiny child!? At least have the decency to battle him for it first!"
The man gave a grunt before leaning over Bede making his purple eyes shrink just as he now realized the major height disadvantage. "And who're you, lil punk? I bet yer part of Diantha's team aren't'cha? Tryin' to keep the sphere for your team I bet!"
"I-I-I-...W-What on earth are you even talking about!?" Bede shook his head and made an attempt to look threatening back. "Now see here! T-That toy doesn't even belong to you!"
"Oh yeah? Well it does now. What're you goin' to do about it, Cottonee Brain?"
Bede looked lost again staring up at this man and visibly gulped under his menacing form-
"HEY!!" Both looked over as you felt your anger rising. Your hands balled into fists and your face twisted into a scowl as you marched up to the man who stared not expecting another person to be there either. "WHAT IN ARCEUS'S NAME IS GOING ON HERE- OOF!!" You stopped almost tripped when Allister snapped from wailing into his gengar's side to hugging your pants leg instead stiff sniffing.
A shaky hand pointed up at the man. "H-H-He- *HIC*" Your heart broke at the small broken voice. "H-He took the b-ball."
..Well- Your broken heart was quickly replaced with anger as your face snapped back to the man with a scowl of hatred faster than a pokemon's quick attack. "What the heck is your problem, Man!? What grown butt adult steals toys from a little kid!?"
The man blinked before slowly standing back up to his full hieght. Well Bede immediately retreated from his spot to behind you glancing from the safety of behind your back. "Yeah? And who're you to butt in!? Mind your own business, Girly!"
"It IS my business if you're scaring my kids!?," you blurted back out not even backing down from him looking at you, "And who the heck are you!?"
"I'm the big bad boss that beats you down and beats you down-", he spoke up narrowing his eyes more lowering to glare you in the eyes, "-and never let's up! I'm destruction in human form! And if you think I'm lettin' you and a couple little punks walk away with my victory then you're in for a bad time!"
...You rose a brow and looked at Allister who still hiccuped clinging to you. Then over your shoulder at Bede who looked scared. Then you inhaled and looked back to this man. "Ok. I'm only going to say this once. Give us back the toy and I won't tear you to shreds."
The man blinked...before he threw his head back and laughed loudly. A smug smile on his face as you rose a brow. Oh well. Can't say you didn't warn him. Casually you bent down and picked up Allister. Bede yelped as you suddenly turned to him and practically shoved the boy into his arms.
"Here. Hold him. I want you to take the ball and just go over a little bit and play ok?" You smiled at both of them. "This shouldn't take too long."
"Take the ball? HA!," he spoke coming down from his laughing fit and smirking. "That's a good one! I'd like to see you do that. Why don't you do us a favor and go window shoppin' or sniffing flowers or somethin' girls like. That kid needs to learn to share anyways."
Bede's purple eyes widened before he glanced at your silent form. "....Oh no."
The man rose a brow-....
!?
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hey! What are ya doin' with that stick- AH!!"
Meanwhile in a different part of the forest two full teams of purple stood facing one another in silence waiting for one of the team's leader to return. Some wore fancy costumes for the occasion some didn't, some had their pokemon out already to begin battling. Each team having two giant golden spheres to guard. ....Eventually the awkward silence got to them and someone spoke.
"*ahem* So...I do not suppose your team has seen Guzma yet?," a woman in silver armor asked.
Another woman on the other team shook her head. "Sorry, Diantha. But I'm sure he'll be back any minute now!"
"Where on earth did he go?," Diantha questioned raising a brow. "We're supposed to battle to decide the winning team since no one can find the fifth sphere."
"That's just the thing. We don't know. He said he had to get something important and that he'd be right back....But it's been nearly an hour now."
Diantha hummed. Well that was odd. She didn't know Guzma well but she knew well enough to know this was strange for him. He couldn't be planning an ambush on her team, if he was he would've done it an hour ago, and they couldn't battle to decide the winner unless both teams had all their members. So where in the world could he have gone-
"AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!"
Almost everyone flinched when a loud man's yell pierced the air and made everyone jump as flying type pokemon scattered into the air at the high pitched yell. Making everyone look up at the sky.
"What was-"
"THAT'S GUZMA'S VOICE!!," someone cried looking horrified. "He must be in trouble! What if he's being attacked by a wild pokemon!?"
"EVERYONE REMAIN CALM!!," Diantha shouted before pointing to the ground and swiveling her body towards the direction of the scream. "I'll handle this! Stay here and guard the spheres!"
Her armor clanked as she sprinted off into the wooded trees and vegetation. Guzma must well be in trouble, but she wouldn't risk it being some kind of trick to get them to abandon their sphere for the other team to take. But she had to make sure he wasn't harmed in any way. As the Kalos champion disappeared into the brush the other team members looked at one another unsure of what to do without either of their team leaders until someone spoke up.
"So...Anyone know what's going on?"
Diantha's heart pounded in her chest, footfalls heavy as she ran towards the sounds of the yells of pain. That was most definitely Guzma's voice. She wasn't sure what was going on but she knew Guzma must've needed help! Her right hand squeezed her fateful partner's pokeball ready if need be-
"AH!! HELP!! SOMEONE COME HELP ME ALREADY!! OW!! OWOWOW!! HELP ME!!"
There he was! Just behind that giant bush up ahead! Picking up her pace, Diantha launched herself through the bush and raised her hand ready to throw the ball-....And stopped.
"AH!! OW! OW!! YOU'RE FREAKIN' CRAZY LADY- AH! LET GO O' ME!!"
"NOT UNTIL YOU APOLOGIZE YOU GIANT RED DUNG BEATLE!!"
"I DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!!"
Diantha slowly blinked...before slowly lowering her arm and staring at the strange sight in front of her. Guzma was there alright....On the ground stomach first. With a woman on his back. The woman looked absolutely furious sitting on his back and forcibly pulling one of his arms behind him to keep him painfully on the ground with one of her feet braced against his shoulder blades in a way to make it impossible for him to reach around to yank her off him. No amount of kicking or rocking his body was able to throw her off either. Leaving him with no other choice but to cry out for help. His face was twisted in pain but turned desperate when he saw her.
"DIANTHA!!," he cried out his free hand banging the ground over and over, "GET THIS RABBID AIPOM OFF O' ME!! OW!!"
"NOT UNTIL YOU APOLOGIZE!"
"M' SORRY OK!! M'SORRY!! NOW GET OFF!!" You did let go at that point- He gave off a squeal when you suddenly lurched forward and both hands slammed themselves next to his head as he stared sideways at you from the ground. Eyes going wide as you scowled down at him from his back holding him down.
"If you ever try doing something like that again, I'll make sure to make you cry more than Allister did! This is going to be the only time I warn you about this."
Guzma said nothing as you got up, dusted yourself off, gave a curious look over at Diantha...before giving Guzma another scowl and walking off. Both team leaders stood there in silence as you walked off and disappeared through the brush, and still continued sitting in silence until Diantha looked at Guzma. His red suit made a couple clacking noises as he slowly sat himself up onto his behind rubbing his sore arm just-...silently staring at the direction where you disappeared off into. Before Diantha sighed, pocketing her pokeball and walked over to him.
"Honestly Mr. Guzma, what were you doing? Is this where you've been this whole time? We've been waiting for you for over an hour!"...She rose a brow when he said nothing. "Guzma? Are you alright? Your face is red."
"....I think m' in love."
"...WOT?"
Meanwhile you jogged and managed to catch up with both Bede and Allister who had by now calmed down completely and continued playing pass the ball back and forth with Bede, Zen trailing behind you. Your anger melted away to smile at the two and Allister perked up seeing you again.
"Y/n!" He ran up and you smiled sweetly as he hugged your legs. "D-Did you make him go away?"
You nodded. "Yep. I talked to the bad man and he said he's not going to bully anyone anymore." You patted his head. "And he's not going to take your ball again."
The purple eyes behind the mask widened. "MY BALL!?"
You nodded. "Yep. I don't think anyone else is going to try and take it so you can keep it."
"YAY!!" Allister through up his hands and you couldn't help but chuckle at him and the relieved look Bede gave you.
In the end Allister got to keep the giant golden bouncy ball and he seemed really happy to get ice cream afterwards when it got too dark and you walked both boys home. Allister happily rolling the golden ball next to you back to the hotel although it would be a bit of a struggle to fit it through the door, you were sure you could squeeze it in. You had JUST gotten back to the hotel when you ran into a certain lavender haired man. Making you smile widely at the Champion.
"LEON!!"
The champion perked up before turning around, wet hair plastered to his face before he lit up beaming seeing you there walking towards him. "Y/N! Hey! Where have you been?"
"Babysitting and talking sense into a bully, but everything's alright now."
"I found a ball!," Allister spoke up happily holding up the giant golden ball to Leon, "Y/n said I can keep it! I can't wait to show Bea tomorrow!"
"You did!?" Leon smiled happily spitting a few grains of beach sand out of his mouth. "That's great! Sounds like you had an amazing day."
"Hey, Lee." he turned to you with a hum. "...Why are you all soaked? I'm pretty sure it didn't rain today."
"Huh? Oh. I got lost and ended up on the ocean floor so I had to swim up onto the beach. Just my luck the people I was battling today was right there so it all worked out in the end! So no worries!"
You stared at him. ".....How did you end up walking out of the ocean!?"
-OCTOBER-
Well it turns out the Masters League was pushed back far enough that it wouldn't even take place until the very end of the year after Christmas. Sigh. So you were going to have to spend another two months here on Pasio. Well it wasn't all bad. Halloween was rapidly approaching which made Allister all excited because it was his favorite holiday! It was cute seeing him get all excited and happily say he was going to get the biggest bad of candy of all the kids trick or treating!! He was even more excited when Nessa one day showed up to take his measurements to make him his very own costume! So he was very much excited. When he wasn't excitedly seeing all the halloween decorations he was playing with the new ball he got or having Nessa come and take double measurements or showing him pictures of designs she had in mind or some fabric she wanted his opinion on. At one point he lost a few of his masks after the cleaning lady of the hotel misplaced them while cleaning his hotel room. Allister freaked out and what was worse was that it was Halloween and Bea wanted to take him for Prince Lear's plan for the Midnight Spookfest. Oh yeah. You remembered eyeing the Prince who showed up out of the blue to talk to Allister about being the surprise opponent to his haunted house attraction. You think Allister only agreed because he felt guilty about saying no...Well guess where all those masks ended up? YEP! Turns out someone from the hotel found the abundant of masks just sitting in the hallway and decided to use them to decorate one of the rooms in the Prince's manor where most of the festival's activities were taking place. It took you FOREVER to help his gengar remove all those masks from the walls to give them back to Allister. Luckily it seemed no one minded you were taking them down and handing them back to Allister or didn't want to approach you with the scowl you wore trying to carry all these masks at once all the way back to the hotel. Sigh. But on the bright side Allister seemed to enjoy himself for the night and was able to go trick or treating after the Prince's small battling event ended. Thank goodness he didn't try flirting with you again because he was so busy manhandling the event. By the time you got back to the hotel arms full of masks, Nessa had already dropped off his costume and it was absolutely ADORABLE!! He looked like a cute little pumpkaboo when he eventually put it on and hurried you out the door into the streets. There was already a lot of kids and teenagers in the streets going from house to house with bags full of candy, and you were surprised Allister was able to drag you around with one hand excitedly from house to house asking for candy and being followed by multiple ghosts pokemon giggling his head off. But you weren't complaining. Let him have a good time. You ran into Leon's cousin and Iris joined you both to trick or treat at a couple houses before saying good bye before complimenting Allister's Costume. All in all it was surely a Halloween you'd not soon forget for a while.

➤ DYNAMIC HEADCANONS [ ; ] SORA
Tumblr media
Since he’d come to meet the young boy in Traverse Town all those years ago   —   Leon has definitely come far from viewing Sora as his responsibility,  to viewing him as his younger brother,  a sibling of sorts.
Part of it lies in how similar they are   —   he can relate a little too well at being far too young to tackle what mission fate has in store for you,   being forced to learn to fight from a young age,  having your home threatened   &   in need of saving.  Having to learn things as you go   &   to pick up a leadership role with little to no experience to draw from.   It’s part of why he tried to change the key-blade’s mind when he first met Sora.
Up until that point,  he’d been studying falling worlds,  working alongside the King   &   Merlin to try finding a way to reverse the disappearance of stars.  It’s a heavy burden to bear,   &   he felt that by fighting Sora,  he’d get a feel for how skilled he was at that moment,  see if he was ready to fight with the key-blade that’d chosen him   &   do a last minute attempt to sway it to pick someone else instead.  When that clearly didn’t work,   he’d resigned to just helping the youth instead,  offering all the help he could spare in the form of information the trio would need to progress,  offering what insight he had regarding the keyholes   &   the key-blade in general.
It wasn’t much,   but he tried his best.  Watching as Sora grew into his role of a hero,   he definitely feels some form of pride in how well he’d taken to everything,  growing from the once scared boy who just wanted nothing more then to find his friends   &  return to his home to the boy who’d face Darkness with a smile.
But in the end,  he worries deeply for him.  Having lived that path himself,  he knows all too well how badly it can take a toll on one in the long run.  Knows intimately the dangers that come from stretching yourself so thin all the time.  At constantly being frayed with each new stress tossed your way.  Long story short,  he had a feeling that if Sora continued on the path he was currently treading,  it wouldn’t end well.
When he does learn he vanished after the final fight with Xehanort,  the feelings he feels are mixed,  none of them good.  He feels terrible for turning out to be just as bad as the others who relied too heavily on him,  at forgetting the fact that even if he was powerful   &  skilled in battle,  Sora was ultimately still just a kid.
He cares greatly about the sunny Islander,  &  often times,   threads before KH3’s ending,  he’ll make his displeasure known about how hard Yen Sid pushed Sora, regardless of how necessary it might have been, he’s still incredibly irritated with what was asked of the y key bearer.  He’s protective but tries not to overstep his boundaries   &   more often then not will just offer his help with missions or training,  if it’s needed?  A small hideaway Sora can rest in between missions without getting pestered by Yen Sid or the others.

In which lil sib reader's gets interviewed, and more is revealed.
"Coming to you live from Galar's number one Rotomcast channel, where we have a deep interview with the hottest celebs! Today, we've got THE 20XX Unovan finalist and current Galar Gym Challenge rising star: [Name]! How are you today?"
You smiled and waved towards Rotom, "Hello, everyone! I'm doing alright, had a good cup of coffee from the Battle Café so I'm feeling very awake."
Raihan nodded in understanding, holding up his own cup. "Caffeine is what powers this host too! Can't imagine a day without it. How's your order like?"
The whiteboard on wheels from the corner of the set rolled into view, being pushed by your Zoroark who decided to shapeshift into your host. He tried his hardest to stiffle his laugh while you looked away in embarrassment. On display was your obnoxiously long coffee order.
"Why is it so long?!"
"It's the only way I can get it to taste like Unovan coffee!!"
He wiped a tear away as he straightened himself. "Unova, ey? How is it like over there?"
"Well, it's where I grew up. I can't say much about it though, I only really spent a year exploring and that was my gym challenge year..." you trail off. "I guess, it's busy. People are always moving so fast it's hard to keep up. Sometimes you get left behind and they don't even notice it."
Zoroark pulled a seat up, this time taking form of you. He patted your head and handed you your paper cup. The dragon type gym leader's expression dampened, noting the somber tone of your voice. You sat up properly immediately, feeling that you killed the mood.
"I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to-"
"No, no. It's alright. This is for your fans to understand you anyway so it's okay for you to be honest. Just know that you don't need to answer everything okay? Your privacy is important, too."
He gave you a reassuring smile and a thumbs up, you relaxed back into your seat. A second passed before he continued the interview.
"Did you come to Galar to escape it, in a way?"
"Oh! I was invited here by Leon, actually. I did say something about wanting to come here when I was asked in Unova and I think he saw that video. Escape from Unova? Not really. I just kind of wanted to get away from Anville."
He pondered his next question, "So... I guess that would be where you described when I asked about Unova?"
Your resigned smile told the viewers all they needed.
"Did you become a trainer because of it?"
Taking a sip of your coffee, you slung an arm around your partner pokémon. "Sort of, it was the only way I could get away for my age. I always had an interest in pokémon battles, especially when I watched my... brothers fight each other. As much as I like fighting with Zoroark and my team, I find the attention we... I get is one of, if not the best part of my journey."
You closed your eyes, imagining yourself in the stadium again. The cheers, your name and the encouragement. Your lips quirked up at the memory, it was almost like yesterday.
"I feel alive when I battle, I feel alive when the crowd roars with excitement. And when we win? When my pokémon and I are acknowledged for our strength?"
Laughter bubbled in your chest as you remembered the first time you beat a gym. Your hairs stood on end, your breathing as ragged as your partner, the triumphant and satisfied grin that spread across your face as you stood there, all eyes on you. Veins coursing with adrenaline and the sheer rush. Opening your eyes, you looked to the camera.
"To be the center of their attention," you breathed. There was a pause in the air, Raihan didn't comment on it. "I relish in it," you said with the very same grin you wore on that day.
Silence followed after, the Galarian wasn't sure of what to ask further. This had been the most any celebrity he interviewed ever divulged about themselves. Not to mention, this felt extremely personal.
"...I see. Battling really means something to you. Then, for my last question, I would like to ask if there is anything you would like to say to your fans?"
Snapping out of your day dream, the perfected fanservice smile was plastered back onto your face. You tapped Zoroark twice on the shoulder and he shifted back.
"Thank you all for your continuous support! Today's interview was a bit sad, I'm sorry. But it is how I've always felt. My partner pokémon and I will strive to keep on getting stronger. We hope you all continue to watch us!"
Raihan sent a wink to the viewers, "You heard it, let's keep cheering for [Name]! That's it for this interview, see you all on the next one!"
The broadcast ended and you dropped the smile. A sigh left your lips as you took another sip of your coffee. The person who sat beside you was rendered speechless, just what could he say? Was there even anything to say?
He coughed into his fist, "You uh... want a hug?"
Inwardly, he slapped himself. What a terrible question. He was about to do it physically too, but stopped when he heard the barely audible 'yes'. He stood up and opened his arms, you shuffled into the embrace.
He felt your grip on his jacket tighten as your shoulders shook. You sobbed, silently.
"Let it all out, buddy. It'll hurt more if you keep forcing yourself to stay quiet."
And so you unrestrained yourself, the painful wails stabbing his heart. He thought to himself, 'I'll make sure to pay attention to them.'
Ingo and Emmet who? Raihan is the new big bro now.
omg T-T omg omg omg you keep wrenching my heart and stomping on it in the best way possible poor little sib!!! poor thing </3
god, i wonder if the family saw the interview? their reactions </3 Ingo and Emmet no doubt are going to be heartbroken to hear how alone their sibling felt. Emmet especially, after he loses Ingo, and probably Ingo too, even if he couldn't remember during his time in Hisui.
you've got me hook line and sinker on this narrative, and i'm very very very excited to see where you take it next!! you're doing great, love!! everyone, look how wonderful this is!!!!

💝
Milo's family, for the most part, seems to take to him quickly, for which Piers is a little surprised but very grateful still.
Glenn is... a bit harder of a sell. It's not that Glenn doesn't like Piers, he thinks. But there is something there, and Piers thinks he's found it one day when he and Glenn are standing against the wooden gate of the Wooloo pen, watching Milo sling them over his shoulder like they weigh nothing.
"Why'd you give up your gym leader position?" Glenn asks suddenly.
"To be honest? I was tired. I'd wanted it at first, but I spent so long taking care of everyone and being stonewalled by Rose that it sucked the fun out of it."
"But you're still taking care of everyone." Glenn comments. Perceptive kid.
"Yeah, I am. I realized something when I handed it over to Marnie. I never wanted her to feel the stress I did, or lose her passion like me. So she's going to be just the gym leader. I'm keeping all the other responsibilities."
Glenn looks at him for a moment.
"You could've won."
"Hmm?"
"You could've won. The championship. I think you could have, eventually. Or, since Rose is gone, you could've found your joy again. You gave up the second-highest gym!"
Piers looks at him for a long moment. And then he smiles and laughs.
"Yeah I guess I did. Honestly? If I hadn't been fightin' to keep Spikemuth alive, I'd have preferred a lower rung gym. I wouldn't have done as good a job as your brother though. I'm not good at the whole balance thing - I either fight tooth and nail, or give up completely. It takes a special person to be able to make those calculations mid-battle, of when to hit hard and when to pull a punch. Your brother understands... probably better than anyone in this league."
Glenn looks at him, incredulous and maybe annoyed. He stalks off. Yeah, maybe that didn't win him any favors with the kid. But he'd understand. One day.
-
💗
Piers likes to cook. For all he gripes and moans about how he's not that good, he can cook and he likes to cook. He's just self-conscious about it.
Milo figures it out pretty quickly that the best way to get him to cook is to cook with him. It starts with having him take on a sous-chef role, chopping and stirring while Milo is the conductor of a symphony of flavors. Then, it turns into asking what Piers's favorite foods are, cooking them together, encouraging Piers to delegate tasks instead of the other way around. And then, it's asking Piers about what he would cook for Marnie - she squeals at the first opportunity that Piers actually cooks all the time at home and cooks great, thank you very much, to Piers's embarrassment.
So, that's how Piers ends up making Milo the struggle meals of his children, what he raised himself and Marnie on, describing how he tried his best to make good food with what he could get his hands on. He learned quick that flour, milk, and a few spices could be kept on hand, and could take some canned, boxed, frozen, freeze-dried whatever and turn it into... well, the same thing but yummy.
He confides with Milo that he still eats some of these meals all the time, even now that they have more money. There's comfort to them.
-
💞
It's an interesting arrangement they had to start. The three of them together, and then the three of them, independently, forming a connection with Milo. Piers, for his part, had appreciated Milo for a long time as a friend, though they didn't get to see each other much. Piers couldn't leave Spikemuth for long, and neither could Milo with Turffield.
His fall for Raihan had happened first. It started as casual friends - they talked in texts, mostly because Raihan was insistent on checking on him. It turned, sudden and unexpectedly, into something sexual, and then they became friends with benefits. But they were both falling for each other, and eventually started dating.
He'd always respected Leon. They had started to get close as friends once, just shy of Leon turning 18, but Rose was able to manipulate a tabloid storm to get then both to keep their distance. Dating Raihan, Piers saw firsthand how in love he was with Leon, so he wasn't surprised when Raihan asked if he was okay if he made a move on him. He'd... somewhat resigned himself to becoming a second wheel, as long as he still got to be there, when he fell himself for the former Champion.
Milo was different from both, and perhaps the slowest burn. The warmth of the farmer's smile could win anyone over - including himself and his boyfriends. Still, he seemed oblivious, even if he got flustered by asides and comments Piers would occasionally give him, just to see him blush.
At least, that was until Milo made the first real move, catching him when he tripped and holding him in his strong arms in a dip.
And kissed him.
And well... he was a goner at that point.

Dumb Luck
Prompt: the usual "Everyone knows Merlin has Magic but Merlin doesn't know they know" but Arthur's being really fucking thick about it. Everything that could possibly be magic Arthur has brushed off as luck or something. At some point Merlin realizes that the knights know (or maybe he's known all along) and the knights tell Merlin that Arthur knows but he's being stupid, which leads to Merlin performing increasingly extravagant/impressive/silly magic in front of Arthur until the point Arthur just asks if Merlin would like him to acknowledge the fact that he doesn't care that Merlin has magic

Alright. Merlin’s going to be honest. Is the absolute best at hiding his magic from people? No. Is he a damn sight near better than some other bastards would be if they had his magic? Yes, yes, he is, thank you very much. They would do quite well to remember that he is magic, and he’s had it since he was born, so he knows what he’s doing when it comes to knowing that he has it. Yes, thank you, he doesn’t go around doing every single thing he could with magic because well, then he’d never get to do much of anything ever again.
And that would be boring.
But yes, maybe he’s a little petty or lazy sometimes. Honestly, he’s just being efficient. Yes, he can justify pettiness as efficient. He’s just getting them back for something that he would otherwise have to expend so much effort doing. It’s very handy.
So the knights work out he has magic. Big surprise there, he knows. Lancelot is Lancelot, Gwaine is Gwaine. Percival stumbles in on him lifting too much a little too easily and cracks a joke about having Merlin pull his weight more on hunting trips and patrols. Elyan watches him fix armor and immediately clamors to bring Merlin to his and Gwen’s forge so he can actually show him how to fix armor.
Leon takes him aside quietly one day and thanks him. Merlin doesn’t start crying, he doesn’t end up breaking down into Leon’s arms, and Leon definitely doesn’t promise that although Merlin may not have been knighted, he thinks of him as his brother in arms.
Leon is very rude sometimes, as a matter of fact.
But Arthur doesn’t seem to notice.
Now, Arthur doesn’t notice a lot. Doesn’t notice Merlin shifting his chair a little bit so he crashes onto the floor, doesn’t notice Gwen spending just a hair too much time with Morgana in the evenings, doesn’t notice the guards that don’t even pay attention to the dungeons. Like, at all.
But there are some things he…should notice.
Like when a branch suddenly lifts itself up from a forest floor to trip a bandit.
“Bandits,” Merlin mutters under his breath, “why is it always bandits?”
He deflects a blow and sends one of them flying into a tree. Behind him, Elyan parries a blow and deftly clubs the man over the head. Arthur is battling another bandit a few paces away as one tries to run up behind him.
Merlin’s hand is out in a flash and the tree branch right in front of Arthur wheels up and smacks the man across the face.
Arthur whirls around and cuts the other man down, successfully putting an end to the fight. Around the clearing, the knights shake their heads and go about picking up the rest of their camp. Really, being far too calm for men who just killed a bunch of people.
Except for Merlin.
Merlin, while this is happening, is slowly coming to the conclusion that he would like to be swallowed up by the ground and never emerge again.
He just used magic, very obviously, in front of Arthur.
Is this the first time he’s done it? No, not by a long shot, but it is the first time he’s done it without any regard for whether Arthur can see.
Arthur turns and Merlin’s heart drops to his stomach.
Arthur wrenches his sword out of the ground and stalks over to him.
Arthur roughly grabs his shoulder. Shakes. Hard.
“Merlin! Merlin, answer me?”
“…Arthur?”
Arthur’s face is drawn. Grim. Almost his father’s. His grip hurts.
“Where are you hurt?”
Merlin blinks. What? Where is he what?
“Where is it, Merlin,” Arthur growls again, already looking him over, “where did they hurt you?”
“I’m—I’m not hurt.”
“You’re paler than a damn sheet, Merlin, you must be losing blood.” Arthur’s hand is…surprisingly gentle as it lifts his chin. “Tell me where. Come on. Now’s not the time for shame.”
“No, no,” Merlin mumbles, “I’m not—not hurt. Didn’t get hurt.”
Arthur slows, grim expression morphing to confusion. “Then why do you look so…”
If in doubt, poke fun at yourself.
“Just scared, I guess,” Merlin tries with a self-deprecating laugh, “wasn’t expecting bandits.”
Arthur huffs, lightly shoving his shoulder. “Leave it to you to be such a drama queen that I think you’re bleeding out.”
“’S nice of you to care.”
“Just glad I don’t have to drag your corpse back to Gaius.”
2.
So that was…bizarre. Not the most bizarre thing that’s ever happened to Merlin, not at all, but bizarre. Arthur may be a little unobservant at times but he’s not that oblivious.
But, in fairness to him—which is something Merlin tries not to do too often—he was in the middle of a fight and had just killed a man. Knights may not be known for the smarts but they are known for their overprotectiveness.
Yes, he can hear you lot protesting over there, it’s true and you know it.
And maybe…maybe Merlin’s been getting a little sick of Gaius screaming about how secret his magic must be kept in broad daylight with the door wide open. Listen, if you think he’s about to get scolded by your parental unit and not immediately find some way to rebel, you don’t know Merlin very well.
And yes, maybe there’s a sick little thrill he gets out of doing magic in front of Arthur.
Maybe.
So. The next time they’re on a hunting trip and he’s as sure as he can be that there aren’t any bandits around, he decides to push a little bit.
Arthur is lounging around because you can take the prince out of the castle but you can’t take the castle out of the prince and he thinks he’s still about to receive the finest of dishes that Camelot’s kitchens can prepare. Well, no, but he is about to not have to cook it himself.
“Light the fire, Merlin, it’s not that hard.”
“Have you ever lit a fire a day in your life?”
“Sure, when I was training.”
“Training? You needed training to learn how to light a fire?”
“It was survival training, with the elder knights. Had to survive a night on my own.”
“On your own?”
“Well, my own campsite. They stayed about a league away.”
Merlin just sighs and crouches down. He eyes Arthur, who is tending to his sword, and then very slowly but pointedly sets the flint and steel aside. Arthur isn’t paying much attention to him.
Slowly, Merlin leans forward and lights the fire with his magic.
Arthur looks up. Merlin looks back at him. Arthur swings the sword off his lap. He sets it on the log, his hand still wrapped around the pommel. The tip of the blade points straight at Merlin’s chest. It gleams in the firelight.
“See? I told you it wasn’t hard.”
Is…is he serious?
3.
As it turns out, yes. Arthur is completely serious.
And at this point, this is science, now, what Merlin’s doing. Experiments. He has to know the limits! He has a hypothesis, he has a method, he wants to reach a conclusion.
Hypothesis: Arthur is really, really oblivious to anything magical.
Method: do increasingly obvious magic in front of Arthur until he notices.
Conclusion: how oblivious is Arthur?
An important caveat: Merlin doesn’t know how Arthur will react to finding out he has magic, but he can burn that bridge when he gets there.
So when he wakes Arthur up the next morning, he draws the curtains with a flourish and when Arthur turns over and pulls the blanket up to his cheek in protest, he flicks his wrist and yanks the covers off the bed.
What does Arthur do?
Mumble and groan and stumble out of bed saying Merlin’s worse than his first governess.
“Wait, first?”
“Morgana and I snuck a toad into her bed. She quit after that.”
“You two did what?”
“Think there’s still frog spawn in that bed frame. Father had that chamber closed off for a while.”
“You—eat your breakfast, you prat.”
“You’re the one that pulled my blankets away!”
4.
…okay, so he needs to take it up a notch.
One of the ones that pisses Gaius off the most is when Merlin uses magic to polish multiple pieces of Arthur’s armor at the same time. So when Arthur is at his desk, Merlin lays his shield across his lap and grabs two polishing rags. He sets the can of polish next to him and starts working on the shield. When he’s sure Arthur is focusing, he uses his magic to lift the breastplate up next to him and start to beat out the dents.
“Merlin,” Arthur sighs, “can you keep it down any?”
Showtime. “Don’t know what you mean, sire.”
“That bloody racket! Can you at least be a little quieter?”
“What racket?”
Arthur shoves the paper away from him and glares at the ceiling. “That banging! It’s so loud I can barely hear myself think!”
“It’s no louder than you normally are, sire.”
“Oh, you—I ought to—“ Arthur just mutters to himself as he claps his hands over his ears.
But he never looks toward Merlin.
Huh.
5.
So maybe Arthur isn’t ignoring him because he’s oblivious. Maybe…maybe he knows already and is…is trying to protect Merlin.
Uther is still King of Camelot. Morgana is outspoken against his cruelty but he is still very much in charge. There’s only so much protection the knights can afford him. There’s only so much protection Arthur can afford him.
So…so maybe Arthur is pretending he doesn’t see because he knows he can’t save Merlin if he has to acknowledge it.
Merlin takes a few days to process that. The knights are concerned, they ask him what’s wrong, what does he need, how can they help? He waves them off, says he’s just thinking.
“Maybe,” Lancelot says kindly, “but with you, Merlin, you’re never just thinking.”
“Or at least it doesn’t stay that way for very long,” Gwaine agrees, slinging an arm around Merlin’s shoulders, “and I don’t know about you lot but I like a little bit of forewarning before I wake up to ale in my shoes.”
“You asked for another round, you didn’t say where.”
“Why the hell would I want them in my shoes?”
Gwaine does what Gwaine always does and steers the attention away from Merlin, leaving Leon and Lancelot to carefully prod him a little more privately. He waves them off too, even though he’s sure he isn’t keeping as much as he would like to be from Leon.
Merlin stops using his magic as much. He does his chores as much as he can using his two hands, lugs buckets of water without complaint, polishes armor until his nose burns and his eyes sting. He uses his magic for particularly stubborn stains in his room and keeps a sharper eye out for how to move this bandit’s sword a little to the right, or how to make this knight’s staff a little heavier.
He thinks Arthur is trying to hide for him, so he hides for Arthur.
Then he can’t hide.
A sorcerer is threatening to collapse the walls of Camelot in on themselves. The entire citadel shakes as Merlin and the knights rush out, dragging as many people as they can. The stone trembles and the wood groans and there are screams. More screams than Merlin could ever bear to hear join the chorus of more than he could ever know that plague him every time he closes his eyes.
He shuts them anyway and runs.
He runs away from the knights, magic pushing him faster, faster, faster with the need to protect the castle, protect the people, protect Arthur. The sorcerer is pulling him away from his people and for that…for that, he must pay.
By the time he gets to the field, it is rippling with magic. Merlin’s fingertips, his ears, even his nose tingles as he rushes deeper, deeper, deeper, trying to get to the eye of the storm.
There, in the middle of a patch of grass, stands a sorcerer. In robes deeper than night and hair whipped up in the wind of the spell.
Merlin grits his teeth and says no.
And when the Greatest Sorcerer to Ever Walk the Earth calls, Magic answers.
The sorcerer is dust before he manages to open his mouth. The field settles. Magic returns to the earth. And Merlin collapses to his knees as the knights run up behind him.
He isn’t a fool, despite what others may have led you to believe. He knows this was magic, could only be magic, and could only be stopped by magic.
So when the knights rush up to him and collapse to their knees around him, muttering that he’s alright, he did it, he’s safe, he did it, is he hurt, all he can think of is how he’s going to have to explain this to Arthur.
They tell him he doesn’t need to explain anything. That Arthur already knows, that he doesn’t care.
Merlin doesn’t believe them. Even if he saved Camelot, which he’s already done, he has magic. He used magic to do it.
They tell him again that it doesn’t matter, that Arthur doesn’t, won’t care.
But Merlin still has to tell him.
“Tell me what?”
+1.
Arthur rushes into the clearing. He can hear him behind them. He can’t find it in him to get up. The knights are still around him, he can hear Lancelot’s voice in his ear, feel Leon’s hands on his shoulders, but he can’t move. Can’t speak.
“Tell me what,” Arthur repeats, and oh, he sounds angry, “what is it?”
“Merlin,” someone—Gwaine—is muttering, “Merlin, it’s alright, he won’t care, he doesn’t care—“
“Of course I care,” comes the cold, cold voice and Gwaine falters, “now move.”
Merlin’s chest clenches. There’s the sharp sing of steel as Gwaine draws his sword.
“Put it down.”
“Nope, can’t do that.”
Then Leon stands up. “Arthur, please think carefully about this.”
“I don’t have to think carefully about anything. Merlin is hurt, let me tend to him. He’s mine.”
“You won’t hurt him.”
“No, I certainly don’t intend to, so move.”
Lancelot’s hands are the last to leave him. Merlin is cold. It’s so cold. His magic buries deep inside his chest and it feels hard to breathe.
Boots. Boots on the ground in front of him. They flatten the grass as a shadow blocks the light. Armor creaks as the figure kneels down. A gauntleted hand cups his chin.
“Merlin,” comes a voice that’s soft, too soft, “Merlin, I need you to look at me.”
And what is he supposed to do, disobey?
Arthur’s face is too warm when Merlin looks up at him. His mouth tugs up into a little smile as Merlin finally makes eye contact with him.
“There you are,” he says, still in that soft voice that doesn’t make sense, “now, are you hurt?”
Merlin can only blink.
“Merlin,” he says, and his voice is a little firmer as he cups Merlin’s chin properly, “are you hurt? What happened?”
His throat is too dry. “Not hurt.”
Arthur relaxes, only marginally. “Then why do you look so upset?”
The world could collapse and Merlin would be frozen here, trapped in the silence of Arthur’s gaze.
Unbidden, his eyes flash gold.
Arthur takes a sharp breath in. Merlin braces for a hit only for—
“Oh, you idiot,” Arthur whispers, “do I actually need to tell you I don’t care if you have magic?”
Pause.
Go back.
One more time.
What?
“I don’t care, you idiot,” he says in a tone that is too fond, “I don’t care that you have magic. You have it, you’re still Merlin, I don’t care.”
Rough metal gauntlets cup his face and oh—it’s cold—
“Merlin, look at me.”
“I—I am.”
“No, look.”
He blinks and has to focus on looking at Arthur.
“I’m not mad,” Arthur says firmly, “and I don’t care that you have magic.”
Merlin starts to laugh. Because of course, of course, Arthur doesn’t care. He’s been so stupid. Arthur doesn’t care. Arthur doesn’t care. He’s doubled over before he can stop himself. The laughs keep pouring out of him, his magic rushing back to his fingers, his nose, his chest. He laughs long and loud and hard and then Arthur is murmuring at him again because no, no, he isn’t laughing anymore, he’s crying.
“Come here, you big baby,” Arthur murmurs, tucking him into the gentlest embrace he’s ever had from someone wearing armor, “yes, there you go, that’s it.”
He doesn’t care. He doesn’t care.
Arthur has known Merlin has magic and he doesn’t care.
…wait, does that make Merlin the oblivious one?
Nah, that couldn’t be it.
It’s not like Arthur is hiding anything else from Merlin.

Gordie:
-Milo: His humor. Gordie likes to crack jokes with Milo because they always seem to land.
-Nessa: Her attitude. To Gordie, nothing is funnier than watching Nessa put someone down for being a jerk.

-Nessa: Her confidence. Nessa never lets hurtful comments get her down. That’s something Piers admires and is a little jealous of.

-Bea: Her relationship with Allister. Piers know what it’s like to be a kid responsible for an even younger kid. Bea’s not exactly in the same situation he was in, but he still admires her resilience.
-Allister: That he’s introverted. Piers relates to Allister not wanting to be around people. Allister also gives Piers and excuse to get to a quieter place to rest in big events.
-Opal: Her ability to read people. That skill has saved Opal and the people around her a few times. Piers included.
-Gordie: His consistency. Gordie has always been a safe haven for Piers. He’s always been sturdy and supportive and hardly ever wavers when Piers needs him.
-Melony: Her care. Melony is the closest thing to a mom Piers has ever had. He doesn’t know where he’d be if she didn’t insist on taking care of him any way she could.

-Leon: His understanding. Leon has always been someone who wants to understand and accommodate people. He’s saved Piers’ hide many times because he made the attempt to understand Piers.

-Kabu: His passion. Kabu is an intense trainer because he wants to better himself. This is a trait they both share.
-Bea: Her intensity. Raihan loves training with her because it’s so difficult to keep up. Certainly, a welcome challenge.

-Gordie: Hanging out with him. Gordie is a fun person to hang out with casually. He always seems to know someone or have something to do.
-Melony: Her cooking. Raihan is a sucker for home cooked meals made with love. When he’s in the area, he always wants to stop by for dinner.
-Piers: His reliability. Piers puts up with a lot, but he always follows through on his promises. He may not seem like it at first, but Piers is a very trustworthy person.
-Leon: His strength. Raihan always looks up to Leon. He worries that if he ever does surpass him, he’ll be without a goal and start to decline.
Leon:
-Milo: His love of kids. Milo is an old friend of Leon’s, since they used to live so close together. Milo was always there to help out with Hop when Leon needed, and he taught Hop a lot of important things.
-Nessa: Her dedication. Leon knows she models and trains Pokémon at the same time. She works hard to do her best with both.
-Kabu: His want to be better. Kabu is always working hard, and it pays off. Leon cares a lot about people who want to be stronger.
-Bea: Her training. Bea throws everything into being a Pokémon trainer, and Leon looks up to her for that.
-Allister: He’s a prodigy. Allister is the youngest gym leader Galar has ever seen. He’s also very strong at the same time. Leon has high hopes for his future.
-Opal: Her experience. When Leon has a problem, Opal always knows how to help. She’s gotten him through a lot.
-Gordie: He’s fun. Whenever Leon needs to go out casually, Gordie knows how to help. Hanging out with Gordie is a good stress reliever.
-Melony: She cares about him and Hop. Melony is very sweet, and Leon knows that she took care of him when he was first settling into the league. He was very grateful, but not surprised, to know that she did the same for Hop later on.
-Piers: His dedication. Piers juggles a lot of things. Being a gym leader, his music, taking care of Marnie and Spikemuth. It’s a lot for one person, but Piers perseveres. Leon doesn’t know if he’d be able to handle all that.
-Raihan: His rivalry. Raihan is always at Leon’s heels. He inspires Leon to keep working hard for himself and the people around him. He knows how important he is for Raihan, too.
I tried to do my best but for some reason it took me three days to get through this.

Hi i hope you are doing well, i have a request, can i please have some headcanons of leon, piers, raihan with a male s/o who is a cinnamon roll and fairy type user ?
hello, dearest! i hope you're doing well too, of course you can ^-^ have a good read everyone! ❤
Leon/Piers/Raihan × Fairy Type Trainer Male S/O Reader! || Headcanons (Sfw)
Tumblr media
headcanons under the cut, darlings! <3
Leon (Sfw)
Tumblr media
Leon was shy the first time he met you, which is rare when meeting fans.
"Uh d-do you want a picture? Can I take one with you too? Or wait- uh- no- I meant to say, we can take a picture on my phone and I can send it to you. Just need your phone number, if you don't mind!"
Goes to all your battles and events! No matter how big or small. Even your Pokemon's modeling shows, he'll clap as loud as he possibly can from the audience.
Sometimes he watches from afar to not bring attention to himself, or wears a disguise.
He likes training your Pokemon, gets along the best with Ralts. He takes her to the Wild Area, Charizard acts as an older brother, he's protective of her too.
"She's like a small child! How could I not love her? Almost as cute as you."
Takes you on dates to Glimwood Tangle, he sets up picnics for you two. Makes all the food himself, or at least tries. Some of it is store bought or Hop-made.
He spoils you in constant shopping sprees.
(For my feminine male readers!! ^-^) Leon needed a second to collect himself the first time he saw you wear a skirt.
"You look so good r-right now, uh- we can go get out of here if you want.. Somewhere more private? Respectfully, of course!"
Piers (Sfw)
Tumblr media
He was blunt when you first met because he was nervous, being his first crush and all.
"You want an autograph or somethin'? A picture? Just say so. Your Alcremie and you are real close."
He didn't expect to be so attracted to someone so different.
He tried pushing you away, from a slight fear that you wouldn't like him back.
When he found out you did like him back, he thought you were joking.
"Y-You like me? You serious? You're some ray of sunshine and you like some guy like me.."
He won't admit it, but he thinks your dynamic is adorable. The way your fashion taste, music taste, and Pokemon taste, all clash is something he loves.
Piers got protective quickly, constantly asking where you were and if you needed him there.
"Kitty, it's really not a bother. If you ever need help, lemme know. Alright? I'd do anythin' for you."
Writes you songs, sings them to you in private.
Your Pokemon are scared of him, he's extra nice to them.
"Piers, what did you do to Cutiefly?!"
"Nothin', I swear! Just said it would be a nice statue if it was stuffed when it died! That's a compliment!"
When he's serious, he gets incredibly sappy.
"I mean it when I say I love you, okay? You're so cute and sweet and..augh.ugh If I knew more meaningful adjectives, I would use them right now, pretty boy."
Raihan (Sfw)
Tumblr media
Flirted with you immediately.
"Hey.. you're cute, are you gonna be in Hammerlocke for long? After I win this- excuse me- humbly win this battle, I'll take you out to eat. You down, cutie?"
He didn't win.
"I couldn't go hard on you! You're too cute, that's all. Totally not because of your Fairy Type team."
"But ahh.. We still going out sometime?"
That was the first of many dates.
Raihan calls you his prince, constantly saying that you seem like you came out of a fairy tale.
He constantly posts you on social media, with intentionally corny captions and hashtags.
"I have the cutest boyfriend! #my-prince #he's-the-cutest-fairy-in-my-eyes #i-might-eat-his-Alcremie-later #for-legal-reasons-this-is-a-joke"
His Pokemon are scared of yours, it's incredibly funny to see a Flygon fly from an Aromatisse that just wants to play.
"Flygon, she won't do anything! At most knock you out, but- wait stop flying away! I didn't mean it! Babe, I'll be right back. He might fly all the way to Alola or something."
***
Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed, requests are always open! Just might be a wait depending on what it is! 💕 -🥝

in the city of wyndon [hop x reader]
Summary: Hop is your best friend, and there's absolutely nothing you wouldn't give him.
Genres: Angst, Fluff, Friends to lovers
Date: May 2, 2020
-----
The bright lights of the stadium shone directly onto you, blinding in their intensity. The sands in the field shifted under your feet, the cascade of silky sand contrasting sharply with your pounding heart and blood-rushed ears. Each time your pokemon lands a hit, you take a step back in what you could only describe as sinking dread.
What were you doing here?
The crowd screams loudly, pulsing, alive- and you feel like you’ve been boxed into a death match, again.
You can’t look up into the audience without their faces blending together, their roars sounding monstrous and heavy with bloodlust. Dozens of drones hum loudly and sail above your head like war planes, reminding you of the world’s scrutiny. Millions of eyes all bearing down on you and all your pokemon, and Hop. Your best friend.
Dust rises from the stadium like storm clouds as he calls out attacks, and each blow sends a gust of warm air into your face.
You feel like a monster.
Does he, too?
The only thing you can see clearly are his golden eyes. You can see the air of confidence and unwavering strength weighing on him like heavy robes, that same façade he slips into every morning in the wake of the rising sun, quietly, fearfully, shamefully.
The audience loves the story of underdog trainers becoming heroes. It reminds them of themselves, Sonia had once told you. Everybody wanted to be somebody.
Strangers live vicariously through you two. Stories of two friends, both meek trainers from the same nowhere town, were whispered wherever you traveled. You and Hop found it somewhat novel to be icons in the beginning, though the retellings of each battle you and him fought began to sound foreign, and barren on the tongues of strangers far and wide.
The scrutiny had worn the both of you down. You had both shifted from being icons to becoming spectacles for entertainment.
The public glorification of the winner and shunning of the defeated sat lumbering in your minds whenever battle was mentioned, and the rumbling of your pokeballs eager to fight acted as a harbinger of worse to come. The chat of savagery owed to your battles with Hop dragged at your feet day by day, like shackles weighing you down resolutely.
The tale of two old friends turned to gut each other in battle was far more interesting than the underdog story, and broadcasts were all too quick to pick up on the reception. And so that’s what you two had become in the eyes of the public, half of them cheering you on while the rest sought to tear you down.
Both your names were all over the news, your characters brandished so thoroughly that you could no longer recognize yourself on the screen. Your story had been written for you before you had the chance to live through it. Every step you took was only to fulfill the forecast the media had championed you to become, and just like everyone watching you, you sought to chase unattainable perfection.
Slowly, the sound of you and Hop’s names on wagging tongues began to haunt you like a dreary nightmare you could not awaken from.
Debate of who was stronger, who was the fan favorite, who would win, and who had wasted their time seeped into the edges of your lives- staining it dark with the desire to come out victorious, along with the shameful urge to escape from the ever-smoldering spotlight.
Even your moments of strength were overturned and exploited. As you and Hop scaled the ladder to become stronger trainers and pursue your dreams, each reel released to television showed only the strongest and weakest moments you both dared to display, turning the two of you into husks of legends so mammoth you could only hide behind them. And so you hid.
This was never what you wanted.
Though everyone seemed to think you and Hop were superhuman, looking at him, you could only see your dearest friend and his little Wooloo guiding you through thick grass years ago, before you had your own pokemon. Maybe even more than just a friend, you had sometimes dared to think. His earnest drive was so strong you felt it resonate in your heart, thrumming painfully at the inability to express itself despite proximity.
But it wasn’t possible, you had thought to yourself one late and somber night, the dim glow of the television casting soft shadows in your room.
It was selfish, you thought as you embraced Hop, who was crying silently into your arms, every sob shaking his frame chipping away at your heart.
The news reporter replayed a clip of Hop’s earlier battle with Bede, never failing to capture every flash of frustration and disappointment on Hop’s face as Bede triumphed, broadcasting his human shame for all to see.
“Will Challenger Hop ever live up to his brother and crowned Champion, Leon’s name? Or will he prove once and for all that skill requires work and not just family? Stay tuned to watch Challenger Hop face off against his friend-”
The TV screen blackened, and a seal of silence draped across the room.  You quietly put down the remote and rest a hand on Hop’s head, combing through his dark, disheveled hair with cold fingers.
You feel him tremble and close your eyes, exhaling softly into the expanse of the night.
From then on, camera crew who flock to you asking about your victory were met only with an icy wall of silence and blank looks. Fans who cheered for you and implored you to win the next match were also ignored. How could you?  How could you feed yourself into this endless cycle that served only to fuel the egos of strangers, and add to the insecurity that only you had seen Hop buckle to behind closed doors?
You shut people out, and fans were quick to speculate on this. Word went around quickly that fame had changed you, and you had a good bitter laugh at the idea that they ever knew who you were.
Hop offered comfort in the night, a weary hand placed on your shoulder, whispering warm words as you stared out the hotel window bleakly, peering sadly into the city alight with life and bustle that echoed deafeningly in the dim hotel room.
In the day, Hop had taken to the light and shouldered the role you refused to uphold. He had become the young and voracious trainer everyone yearned for, and you quickly fell out of favor. Fansigns with your name were turned over and used to display Hop’s name instead, crowds surging with energy and disagreement whenever you took him down in another match.
Uneasiness wasn’t easy to read in his eyes, as he had learned well from his brother how to shine in the limelight. But you knew from the way his eyebrows drew together slightly, how his shoulders pulled into his body- you knew that his worries were reaching its peak. After all, how could the trainer who had fallen out of favor be the one to win the challenge?
News anchors made room for programs every morning to discuss the latest pokemon matches between the four up-and-coming trainers, you, Hop, Beedee, and Marnie, and there would only ever be discourse about whether or not you had deserved to win.
Leon and Chairman Rose sympathized with you, knowing that the scrutiny and gossip that came with fame was eating you away. Leon called after a particularly bad case of media thrashing, and recommended you try to work on public appearance by showing audiences what good friends with Hop you were.
You thanked him, but didn’t plan on taking him up on the offer. You and Hop both knew you were friends, and that should’ve been enough. You didn’t want to ruin the sanctity of your friendship with him by allowing the public to exploit it, even if it meant having a little bit of peace.
Chairman Rose summoned you a few days later and though Hop had wished to accompany you, you had to decline as per the Chairman’s orders.
In that large, white and sparkling office, he told you with a smile that the public eye was trained on you, and was extremely unhappy. You had known that for a long time now, but in that moment, you felt small in the red leather chair in the office that overlooked the world. The chairman shook his head, and for a glimmer of a second you might have imagined pity in his strange eyes.
“The people are cruel.” He said, turning to look down upon the city of Wyndon. “They only know how to take sides.”
You watch him fold his arms behind his back, a flashy designer watch catching the light offensively. “I’m sure you know who they’re cheering for.”
You realize then why Chairman Rose asked you to come alone, and feel weaker than ever when you catch yourself wishing Hop was here to defend you.
The days drag on.
Each battle you have with Hop ends the same, but you feel no satisfaction from beating him like you used to. When he congratulates you now, he makes sure to monologue about how important it is to not give up on his dreams, but you’re not sure if he’s even talking about himself anymore.
The night before the big tournament, you lock your hotel room door and pretend to not hear him when he knocks.  You lie still in your bed and listen to him tossing and turning in the bed next door, not sleeping even after he stops rolling around daybreak.
But the both of you have finally made it this far. You had beat Marnie and Hop had finally beat Beedee, making you the last two challengers standing in the stadium the size of your humble hometown, down to both your last pokemon.
The battle had been arduous and tiring, considering neither of you had a good night’s sleep yesterday. The bright lights bounced off the sand on the floor and stung your eyes. The unforgiving chanting coming from the stadium booths reverberated in your head and made your temples pound painfully.
Hop recalled his pokemon and activated his dynamax band, the cheers of his fans exponentially rising and shaking the court in their fervor. You follow in suit, withdrawing your very first pokemon and remembering how much it had grown since Leon had introduced you in the courtyard. With a hefty throw, your pokemon is released from the confines of the large pokeball, landing heavily on its feet and shattering the gravel underfoot.  Debris flies haphazardly and a large gust of wind charged with power blows past you. It screeches a monstrous battle cry at Hop’s gigantamaxed pokemon, who returns the sentiment and bellows throatily.
Hop’s last pokemon was also the one Leon had given him, and though it was strong, you had a huge advantage over him because of types.  You catch his eye from across the battlefield and he gives you a smile and a wink of reassurance. You shake your head, and wonder why he never learns from his past mistakes.
He orders an attack on your pokemon, and when the blow lands, It’s powerful enough to kick sand up off the floor to whisk into a storm in the air. You know your pokemon has enough stamina to survive one more hit- this was your chance to take him down with your signature move.
When the clamor from the attack dies down, you can hear the crowd chanting Hop’s name. Even he looks surprised, glancing at them with his mouth agape.
The world seems to stop moving for a second, even the sandstorm grinding to a halt as you watch Hop turn to smile at you, honey eyes gleaming with pride and more genuine happiness than you’ve seen from him in a long time. You can’t hear him, but you see his mouth move to form the words.
They’re finally cheering for me.
You feel a lump rise in your throat and bow your head and stare at your shoes, your heartbeat slow and loud in your ears. If you thought you had it bad, then what about poor Hop, who had been in his brother-the Champion's- shadow for all of his life? To be compared to not only your rivals, but your very own flesh and blood? You think back to all the nights he blinked back tears when talking about his own future compared to his brother's, and wonder how he hadn't crumbled under the pressure years ago.
You try to calm yourself, but realize you were never nervous. You can hear the crowd murmuring, wondering why you hadn’t called out a move yet.
You think about what the Chairman’s words, and they bounce back and forth in your head as you stare at all the pokeballs on your belt- all your pokemon that have worked so hard to get you here, all the training that you had put them through to be the best of the best. The cheering of the crowd ebbs into your thoughts, and you look skyward, the sun beaming down and into the stadium and warming your cold face.
You turn to your pokemon and call a move that immediately sends the crowd reeling. Hop looks confused too, dry lips parted and not daring to exhale for fear this is a dream. His hazel eyes shone with disbelief, flooded with relief and complete and utter betrayal.
Your pokemon turns to you with an expression that mirrors gentle disappointment, and you turn away, heart aching. You close your eyes as you hear it soaring into the air, far beyond sight. As soon as it had disappeared, it remerges from the clouds, roaring through the air like a jet plane and colliding violently with Hop’s pokemon.
The announcer’s words sound distant despite being blasted over the speakers- “That wasn’t a very effective move! Oh, what was Challenger (Y/n) thinking?!”
Your pokemon stumbles backward, each fluttering step shaking your soul and the ground below you tremendously.  Hop’s pokemon stands tall and sturdy, barely hurt enough to have a scratch. Recoil hits your pokemon, and it crumples onto its knees. Gravel flies into you but you do nothing to avoid it. It cries out one last time, loud, pathetic and pained. You feel tears pricking your eyes at the sound. The sound of it falling to the side, body slapping onto the concrete listlessly, makes you flinch.
You can feel your hair waving in the breeze caused by the sheer weight of your pokemon collapsing, but you only raise your eyes to lock with Hop’s. You told yourself when you did this you would smile, but you’re finding it hard to move the corners of your lips upwards without letting them quiver.
You can hear the announcer expressing his surprise at your carelessness before gregariously declaring Hop the brand new Pokemon Challenge Finalist. The surging applause from the audience thunders so loudly it almost shadows the throbbing pain you feel in your chest. The colorful confetti popping from all angles of the stadium rained down between you and him, seeming almost comedic given the heartbreak you could see in each other's eyes.
You take a shaky step forward to finalize the end of the challenge with a handshake, but before you can take another wobbling step forward, Hop charges at you with a running start and engulfs you in a choking hug, throwing the both of you onto the hard floor and tumbling a few feet.
He's warm and large as he envelopes your body with his, and his smile is wide and cheerful. He speaks, and his words cut you open like a knife.
“What did you do?” He asked, his voice hushed and warm against your ear. “How could you?”
The wetness in your eyes pools over. Hot, burning tears run down your face, and you can’t seem to stop them.
How couldn't you?
Hop presses your head into his shoulder, hiding your face from the drones and reporters snapping pictures. He curses under his breath and clenches a fist.
“It seems Finalist Hop is so overtaken by his happiness, he’s tackled his very own rival and enemy in a hug fit for a Bewear! Ladies and gentlemen, our Enigmatic Finalist, Hop!”
You feel him pull you closer, hands cold and clammy. A grin is still plastered on his face, strained only to you.

A/N: During the summer of 1974, The Kostas family feels more than the oppressive weight heat. A true prophecy warns them something is on the horizon. Something that will set the course for the rest of their lives all thanks to the man out of time and a baby they promised to raise.
Tumblr media
Honey found her balance after straddling Leon. Her hips rolled in a steady rhythm of back and forth. Her husband reached up to caress her breasts. She seized his wrists so tight, her manicured nails dug into her own palms.
Leon, switching gears, grabbed at them roughly instead. He pinched one of Honey’s nipples swollen then the other. They were lost perfectly in his grip as he massaged them, played with them as Honey rode him. He growled and she cried out before moving his hand towards her mouth to suck and bite at Leon's finger and thumb.
They were like a couple possessed. There was something in the air like static. Manhattan was the hottest Honey had known it to be. Everyone drifted slowly and drenched in sweat on the streets and in her apartment. It had been quiet during the worst of the heat. Only Diego and Klaus dained to still visit.
Earlier in the evening, up on the roof with their feet solidly in a wading pool, Leon and Honey sensed Klaus was uneasy about everything. He complained that the temperatures and the electricity in the air was suffocating him. Making his skin crawl as he stripped to his underwear. Everyone was in stages of undress, even the littles were naked and Honey topless.
“It's like Vietnam. The humidity is cellular. I feel strange and twisted.”
“Murderous, but fancy a good shag?” Leon’s query settled across the roof. “Like you could kill who you..” he mouthed fuck.
Two sets of verdant eyes gawked at Honey who suddenly sat up and covered her breasts. “Knock it off, the both of you. You're creeping me out.”
Somehow they made it through dinner and bedtime and MASH and Carol Burnett before Leon threw Honey over his shoulder. She squealed and mimicked trying to escape, but it only spurned Leon into grabbing a fistful of her ass. He maneuvered her around so she could wrap her arms and legs around him while they lumbered and kissed and undressed towards the bedrooms.
“Shhh,” Honey admonished with a strangled laugh. She pointed at the doorway to Sugar and Sunny’s room.
Klaus had passed out on the floor between the tiny beds, his head in his arms on his stomach. Sunny half poured out of the bed with a hand on his.. uncle? Brother? Klaus’s head, little fingers tangled up as he sucked on his free thumb.
Now here they were maybe hours later, insatiable. The air was stifling and had a magnetic crackle that raised the hair on their bodies as they kept having sex. Honey pushed it out of her mind that metal objects were slowly shifting in one direction as she placed Leon's hand around her throat. Her body rocked up and down faster.
There was a blue tinge to the sky and lightning. Heat lightning Leon insisted. It set Klaus on edge with the kids playing around him. He and Sunny tested out telekinesis while Selina danced to David Bowie. Her dark eyes were covered by Klaus’s literal rose colored glasses. He kept zoning out. Like he was waiting, waiting for the consequences of all of his actions.
“Tio Topolino, watch me!” Selina spun with her arms up in the air. Uncle Mouse. Klaus had been too hard to say before she learned her parents’ native tongues.
“Something is coming, Gracie.”
“Why would you say that, Leonidas?”
They were whispering in Greek. The littles weren't quite ready for Greek yet, but Klaus was born fluent. So they spoke in hushed tones on the fire escape.
“Doesn't it feel that way? The last few Weeks. Klaus usually leaves after a day. He's been here for nearly two months. There's bound to be repercussions, right?”
“Not much happened that he's said, or we read, as the result of Vietnam or 1960-1963.”
Leon rolled his eyes at his wife and made a tsk sound, “Just a bloody apocalypse or two. That Dickensian fuck who raised him got a whole new legion off it. Klaus talked you into having our baby. Then into taking another baby he stole. Skip a stone on a pond, and it makes ripples, don’t it?”
Honey hated when her husband was right. And her vagina loved how smart he was. She had looked in the window in time to see Sunny stand and toddle towards Klaus. His eyes glossed over and lost their irises. It was as if he had gone blind.
The parents scrambled through the window towards their son, but Klaus had him by the tiny hands. Sunny's pudgy fingers curled around his.. The larger ones for stability.
“Sunny?!” Selina shook her baby brother lightly.
“Klaus what the fuck? HELP HI-!” Honey yelled but Leon clamped a hand over her mouth.
“He’ll be ok,” Klaus sort of cooed. His voice was low and gentle. “I remember these. It happened so much when I was a kid. It's the innocence I think. I lost this ability because of Reginald.”
“He's in a trance, love. Like in all those movies with seances where the medium goes wonky, and they've got a message from the other side.” .
Everyone held their breath. Then a delighted shout came from the boy. “BIRB!! BEN!!” Then his eyes came back into focus; he threw his arms around Klaus’s neck. As if that was what he planned the entire time.
“Ben?!” Two men with the same face asked simultaneously. “That's my brother.”
“That was your brother’s name?” Klaus spoke first. “Maybe that's where I got it. When Mom asked us to choose our names based on our birth countries, I thought Germany was mine. My brother was Korean, but he couldn't settle on a name. Ben came to my mind. It felt.. familiar.”
Leon walked over to his kids and his twin, or clone, or whatever Klaus was, and picked Sunny up. The toddler stuck his thumb in his mouth and flexed and unflexed his little chubby fingers in his daddy’s long curls.
The matching mess of hair covered Leon's neck and chin as Sunny laid his tiny head down on the elder’s shoulder. The little yawned as his hand now absently stroked Leon's goatee.
“He died in Cyprus. He fought for Britain against our own people. He defected and was killed,” Leon said so casually. “He was 20. I was 16. It was really bloody difficult being an immigrant. A refugee. We left Greece during the Independence War when I was a year old. There's so much death, mate. All around us. I'm just really so sorry you and Nicklaus have to see it up close. I hope here, with Honey and I, they're a bit friendlier.”
Klaus had offered to conjure Leon's brother. His Benjamin. Leon declined. One day, maybe, but 15 years still wasn't enough time. That The Séance had likewise lost his brother in battle at the same age was empathetic enough.
Everyone was a bit melancholy, the air more humid with a spark, Klaus offered to get the littles to bed. Asked if he could crash in their room tonight instead of on the couch. The couple didn't mind.
Really, if Klaus could somehow, they both preferred he just stay here permanently. Honey could keep an eye on him that way. She and Leon knew Klaus had to go back and forth, maintaining his own timeline.
Except the last time he came was two years after he smuggled Sunny to his parents. He promised five minutes. This time it had been over a year. The Kostases were worried the next time he showed up, it would be the 80s. Or they would be old, their kids in their forties.
It was a silent agreement between Leon and Honey that they liked Klaus being around. “But what’s the price WE end up paying?”
Now there they were in the throes of it all. Honey encouraged Leon to tighten his grip around her neck as she scratched at his forearm. Their bodies gyrating in ways they hadn't in years. Not since before Selina. As if they couldn't fuck each other harder or faster.
Honey started to see black spots on the corners of her eyes. She relished in the struggle to breathe. Looking down, the blue tinted midnight sky with its wild lightning reflected back at her through Leon's eyes. He looked deliberate, livid. She knew she looked barking mad to him.
Honey tore at her tits and hair as she felt an orgasm coil around her sex and stomach. She was lightheaded and unable to scream out like always. She began to laugh as best she could like a woman possessed. Rode Leon through his explosion inside of her. She mentally willed it to get her pregnant.
Such a strange thing to wish for while Leon was killing her. Except he wasn't really, was he? Honey could feel herself pass out when there was a massive explosion in the sky over Manhattan.
Leon immediately let go of his wife. A blazing white light that blinded both of them filled the bedroom, and a squawking noise sounded from down the hall. Then yelling from Klaus lost somewhere in the present and possibly Vietnam. There was giggling and the patter of feet with more incoherent shouting and swearing from the littles’ room.
The bird noise only grew over the shouting, so Honey covered her ears to drown it all out. Leon looked stunned. Like he had woken from a terrible dream. That little girl laughter. The patter of feet running down the hall. The yelling and squawking all stopped. Cut off, as if the couple had fallen deaf.
“Mummy!” Selina exclaimed delightedly. It would be strange to Honey that her daughter had developed an accent like Leon's. Except that's who she spent most of her days with. Eventually Selina grew out of it, and Little Italy would take over.
“Can we keep him?! Are you and Papa playing?”
Honey knew Selina’s little head would be tilted. Little forehead wrinkled as it gathered between her eyebrows, tiny pink mouth slightly agape. How Honey loved finding more of Leon in her daughter every day.
“Keep what, Poppet?” Leon asked while helping Honey slide off of his lap. They weren't being modest, she just clearly was coming down from an adrenaline rush.
“This!” Selina held something large and black aloft. That squawking sound again.
Her parents froze. Selina held a raven nearly the size of Sunny in front of herself. It blinked its bright ebony eyes a few times, but was rather calm for being squeezed by a 5 year old. It, he. They knew it was a he. There was even affection on his face.
“Blimey love, whatcha got there?” Leon dared to ask. He was more fascinated than scared. The corvid set Honey’s hair on end.
“It’s Ben, Daddy!” Selina made a tsk noise and rolled her eyes. Little female Leon. “Sunny told us he was coming! The sky was filled with blue people, and Topo was scared. And Sunny’s little hands were blue and Topo’s were too and then Sunny started to fly. He's on the inside roof! Is he Mary Poppins?!” Selina could barely breathe, she was so excited.
“Those blue people are sad and Topo saw one and started to cry. That blue people is Dave. Then the bird came,” she held him out again towards her parents, “and he started making noises at all the blue people and they went away except three and Topo won't stop crying and Sunny is giggling. I'm tired. Can I sleep with you?”
As calm as they could muster, Honey and Leon got out of bed and put on clothes. Leon scooped up Selina who held the raven like a baby. Her dad ignored it. They made their way to the second bedroom where a blue light emanated into the hallway.
Like Sugar said, Klaus was on his knees crying into his hands. Sunny bobbed along the ceiling. He pushed off of it and bounced back up. The little boy’s laughter was a creepy juxtaposition to his older self gently weeping on the floor.
Honey knew. Leon knew. The “blue people” were ghosts. All of that static, that violence and heat in the air the last few weeks were the dead. Crackling and surfacing, begging to break through now that TWO mediums were together. It was, they immediately understood, Klaus’s sheer willpower that had held them at bay. But he was vulnerable, lost vigilance. They all broke through at once.
“Fuck me,” Leon managed at one of two soldiers. He was taller than Leon, but no mistaking his best of curls and angular jaw. Honey knew in life he had dark eyes. “Βενιᾱμῑ́ν?” Benjamin?
Dave, the woman knew, had been Klaus’s lover in Vietnam. He died saving Klaus and their regiment on the front line.
Except Honey could tell that wasn't true. The Commission had him killed to fix the timeline. They were different, not governed by violence more like stern warnings. As if parents instead of a dictator ran them now. When would they come to scold her family?
Lost in her worry, Honey didn't see the third man. The melancholic one with a cigarette perched in his fingers. He wore a giant suit jacket and equally large pants. There was a transparent tumbler of whiskey in his other hand.
This one, this ghost opened his mouth. At the same time Klaus sat up, his head cocked. Then he spoke, and a voice Honey hadn't heard in ten years came out.
“Hiya, Gracie.”
Honey began to weep. “Uncle Lenny.” She hid herself away so he wouldn't see the tears.
“Aw c’mon dollface. It's ok. I'm ok. I'm not ruining my life anymore. I do miss the stage. And Kitty. Tell Kitty I love her, will ya? And Honey, my Honey. That Kindergarten hooker. Spiteful bitch. I miss them. Proud of you, Gracie. We gotta go, ok. The three of us got wrapped up in all that jazz. By the way, cute little fuckers ya got there.”
Lenny tipped his head at Honey and Leon. Then he was gone. They were all gone. Everyone left behind in their wake to cry harder. To mourn in disbelief. Then giggling brought them all to.
Sunny floated down enough for Klaus to catch him by the ankle. He held the little boy to his chest, and Sunny patted him on the cheek. His hands weren't glowing anymore as he shoved a thumb in his mouth. Then, delighted, he gave a shout in the direction of the raven:
“BIRB!!”
