I just woke up from the coolest dream where Aziraphale and Crowley were in charge of earth, post-apocalypse 2 (God's orders!), and they had been married for like 7 years already, and since their anniversary was soon, Aziraphale was bursting to tell Crowley he wanted them to have a child together. The amount of heart-eyes in the dream was UNREAL. They were so happy together. 😭❤️ Also, for some reason, they got married on Cinco de Mayo and, although they had the South Downs cottage, owned several Scottish castles. 👀 The dream took place in one of those castles and it was gorgeous.

Anyway, Aziraphale did tell Crowley on their anniversary that he desperately wanted to have a child! Crowley kinda cocked his head to the side and wondered if it were possible. Aziraphale confidently said, "With God--and us--ALL things are possible." So they did the nasty and Aziraphale got very very pregnant and I woke up before the story could end, but I'm confident that afterwards Crowley got very very drunk. 🤣🙈🥳

Can't believe I forgot to tell this story but I went to a play party thing a couple weeks ago and was severely underdressed because the nature of the party was revealed neither in the announcement nor from hot enby friend (who invited me and didn't show til after close) but anyway the doors had just opened and I was holding my umbrella and looking for a place to put it, and since it was wet I didn't want to put it back in my shoulder bag, you know how it is. I had fallen in with a random person I met on Lex and a handful of other queers who were chatting and I commented somewhat absently, "I wonder if there was a coat check included in this renovation. I dunno what to do with this."

And the lesbian next to me looked at my too-big dickies jacket (someone's kink, I'm sure) and my general self (not so sure about that one) and said, somewhat jokingly, "well if you happen to be carrying a carabiner you could attach your umbrella to it and hook it to your bag strap."

I opened my mouth to say something like "I'm afraid I haven't assimilated that far into the culture yet" and then I remembered I've been carrying my keys on a carabiner since I moved out of my parents' house in 2012 and silently pulled them out of my pocket to a veritable explosion of enthusiastic cheers.

I walked around with my umbrella dangling and bumping into my knee for two hours, but I walked proudly.

there’s a scene in hijab butch blues where the author (lamya) comes out to a queer friend’s family because his family is convinced that she’s secretly in love with him and that he’s “leading her on” and her friend also wants her to have the “authentic gay experience” (gag) of coming out to Parents, which lamya never plans to do with her parents. she ends up agreeing, comes out and tells them that she’s gay, and then later the friend tells her that his mother is now convinced that she’s actually “a bisexual” and is still in love with him. lamya laughs at first but later feels very distraught over the fact that she finally had the courage to say it out loud only to immediately be doubted. anyways as someone who is a Lesbian and only ever calls myself a Lesbian or gay i really related to this especially in recent years where even other members of the lgbt community take issue with the word lesbian and try to paint us as regressive and “not queer enough.” there really is something so painful about that doubt and even scorn that can come from others that are supposed to understand you and support you and be a part of your community.

when you’re a gay woman, lesbian or bi, there is this constant outside pressure: if you’re a lesbian, they want you to be bi - you’re confused, you haven’t met the right man yet, you just need to give men a chance and be open to the idea. but if you’re bi, then you’re just doing it for male attention, you’re promiscuous, it’s a phase and you’re just an obnoxious straight girl. the reality is that no matter what, they’re always funneling us into what makes them more comfortable (which is, of course, with men), and they really just wish we didn’t exist at all.

#it did strike me as interesting that this scene happens right after another scene #where lamya herself challenges a woman who calls herself a lesbian #and asks ‘why that word instead of queer’ #maybe this is self awareness on the authors part to put these scenes back to back. i dont know #to be clear the lesbian woman was absolutely in the wrong in context but it still didnt feel great #for lamya’s response to basically say well queer is a better word than lesbian… #the sad thing is that it doesnt matter what we call ourselves; queer lesbian bi pan gay #theyre still going to find a problem with us #we’re still going to be Dividing The Community #whether its your lack of attraction to men or the way u perform femininity (or subvert it) #how you carry yourself how you talk. the boundaries you set #always Wrong #anyways! i have to take a break from this book after that. lol
