#like that season one shot of him being an absolute mess while all the other players look quite clean

Note
for the character and word headcannon thingy: jamie & messy
Jamie isn’t particularly messy; he likes to keep things rather neat. He does have someone who comes and cleans his house for him (and someone who tends to his garden) but it’s not a particularly difficult job, because he habitually puts his things away rather than letting things clutter. He’s not anal about it and isn’t bothered if somone else’s place is a mess, but his own space he prefers fairly nice and clean. (Look at his carefully ordered Lynx collection in the picture below – even if I did mostly include that because aaaaargh his stupid pretty face! Lips!)
On the other hand, and in spite of being hugely into personal grooming, Jamie doesn’t mind getting a bit messy himself: he’s certainly not afraid of dirt and does in fact rather enjoy walking off the pitch after a match (or even training) with smudges all over him. Shows he was properly in the game, you know? Same goes for sex: hair a total mess and sweat and fluids all over and maybe a few nice marks here and there just go to prove a good time was had by all, yeah? (He also enjoys the process of getting clean afterwards, either by showering together or – if it was the sort of scene where he’s a bit out of it after – by his partner/s [coughroyandkeeleycough] gently cleaning him up.)

Love how Lucifer just manhandles Adam during their 'fight' despite everyone else getting their asses kicked. Plus him effortlessly destroying him when Charlie's in danger is really sweet.
gawd me too anon me too
that was everything me to me. like everything. It was built up so well too
Tumblr media
we spent the whole season building up alastor as this massive powerhouse, eldritch, nobody messes with him. Only one who tried picking a fight with him (Vox) got utterly humiliated and everyone else was clearly outclassed. Except for Lucifer where Alastor merely just went with annoying instead of power challenging. Like we got vibes okay yeah makes sense that the King of Hell isn't intimidated by anyone, even if it's alastor, but Alastor got TWO wtf moments in Dad Beat Dad one with Husk and one with defending the hotel
other than that, it was pretty much, nobody messes with him cuz he will mess you up
Tumblr media
and he fights Adam evenly sorta for a bit before Adam pulls out the "I'm an angel which is stronger than any demon" card and alastor gets his ass handed to him.
Tumblr media
Like what a way to set up how strong ADAM is, having him beat Alastor. And then no one else in the hotel is as strong as Alastor was, so everyone's struggling. Charlie at least gets one good hit in but her inexperience kicks her in the ass and then Lucifer just shows up and
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
like hot DAMN that was just one hit! He broke Adam's mask, the force was enough to send him FLYING across the roof top, and bounce so hard against the billboard he BROKE THE SKYLIGHT
That was just a "HANDS OFF MY BABY" warning too, like LOOK at that face, that's not a "fight me" face it's a "if you touch my baby again, I will screw you so bad your bones will need therapy and you never recover"
Tumblr media
Lucifer not even .2 seconds later, just upon seeing Charlie
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and then yeah, Lucifer was NOT taking the fight with Adam serious at all, like the dude was taunting him, mocking him, dodging all of his attacks, just shapeshifting like Adam was a joke LIKE LOOK AT THIS
Tumblr media
Lucifer isn't even scared, he's just "oh there's a wall there"
Tumblr media
His FACE IM DYING he's legit like "wowwww you just tried shoving me into a wall? really? didn't have any other ideas? Soooooo original of you. I will mock you now"
Tumblr media
HIS HANDS ARE BEHIND HIS BACK HE FOR REAL SAID HE COULD TAKE ADAM WITH BOTH HANDS BEHIND HIS BACK
rewatching rn for the screenshots, he's legit just shapeshifting for the fun of it. 70% of the time nothing has happened, he's just dodging adam and shapeshifting while doing it, like he doesn't need to be doing that this is 100% mockery.
Tumblr media
And then the iconic
Tumblr media Tumblr media
like omgggg this is soooo satisfying and amazing to watch. Like the set up of Adam being powerful was great, and then we just get this absolute trolling from Lucifer cuz he really doesn't care about Adam
And listen the trolling is great and all, but when Adam makes the mistake of not heeding Lucifer's warning of messing with his baby, and then does it a second time
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
RIP Adam just getting one shot-ed like that but hnnnnnggggg we got to see Lucifer fully pissed and it was GREAT
Tumblr media
And somehow my favorite part wasn't even watching Lucifer go absolute ham on Adam, it was that even at his absolute most rage fueled moment, snarling like a beast where he was going to and fully intended on making good on his threat about messing with his baby
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
just one shoulder touch from Charlie and he's immediately chill. Like it's instantaneous, like how much do you love someone to be able to be absolutely livid, about to incinerate someone levels of rage only to immediately be "o oki! No more violence!" the second that person touches you???
Ugh I love them so much! Like everything about that fight, but especially how Lucifer can just go from absolutely the most dangerous person in one second and then OWO SOFT the next just by looking at Charlie
oops this post got long... IMSORRYYYYY other than "More than Anything" and the phonecall with charlie this is one of the scenes I replay the most, I love them so much
Characters going absolutely feral over loved ones is just aasdfadffalklkmafdjalsg 👌👀👌👀👌👀👌👀👌👀 good shit go౦ԁ sHit👌 thats ✔ some good👌👌shit right👌👌there👌👌👌 right✔there ✔✔if i do ƽaү so my self 💯 i say so 💯 thats what im talking about right there right there ʳᶦᵍʰᵗ ᵗʰᵉʳᵉ mMMMMᎷМ💯 👌👌 👌НO0ОଠOOOOOОଠଠOoooᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒ👌 👌👌 👌 💯 👌 👀 👀 👀 👌👌Good shit

I know this is kinda late but will you ever do a part 2 til ‘thank you not’ ? I Just really loved it so much I also wanna know their reactions to her having a kid and living in nowhere switzerland
hello! a lot of people have been asking me this question.
I will no longer be doing part two for thank you not. the story was meant to be a one shot ( just one part ) and i dont want to force a second chapter.
if you'd like to read a small blurb about what would happen next, you can click below.

‧˚⊹ 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗼𝘁 ଓ :: 𝗙𝟭 ‧₊˚⤾
You were very surprised to see your former teammates staring back at you confused just as you confusedly stared back at them.
"You're alive?!" "What the fuck kind of question is that?!"
Your five year old son had quickly pulled the driver's into your house once he realized they were the athletes he and his father sit down every sunday to watch.
You sighed to yourself watching your husband fan boy and invite the boys to stay for dinner.
It's not like they had any other choice though. The next motel was miles upon miles away.
You sat at the side of rectangular table, with your husband at the top and the 4 drivers scattered to your and your sons side.
Lando couldn't help but play around with the one year old you were feeding on your lap.
🌿 ˚₊· "So how did you two meet?" Carlos asked trying to break the tension. "He got me a present during my last season." "Wait you're that guy?" Lando looked at your husband confused and shocked. 🌿 ˚₊· "I called her back, I took her on a date and whipped her up." Your husband joked making you look at him playfully. "You were a stuttering mess, I thought you were being held at gunpoint point." You teased him chuckling. "You're embarrassing me in front of world champions." He whispered whined making you laugh.
They had to stay overnight, sharing the two couches in pairs in your living room, snoring like babies. You couldn't help but take a photo in case you needed to black mail them.
You didn't have enough time to fix their car the next morning. So, you embarked on a road trip, taking the 4 boys along with your husband and two children to the neighbouring country for their next grand prix.
You had to hold a grip on your son and husband once inside the paddock as they tried to escape and explore each chance they got. It made you look ridiculous. Retired legend, comes back and humiliates herself trying to babysit husband and son.
🌿 ˚₊· "Is that— is that Y/N L/N?" "No." You gaslighted him, managing to wrap an arm around your husband's neck and held the back of your son's shirt before they ran into the Redbull garage.
You watched as you son and husband cheered for different teams, sitting the f1 hospitality to follow along with the race. You didn't care to pay much attention, but people did you.
some members of the media tried to catch interviews with you, but you quickly denied your identity and your presence ( having fun with it as well ).
🌿 ˚₊· "Y/N! It's so good to see you in a race weekend again." "Who's Y/N. Never heard of her. I don't think there are any Y/Ns here."
the most peace you got out of the day was watching a few drivers stop by and greet and hug the shit out of you, as well as seeing the absolute shock on their faces after the two kids who held onto the back of your dress, and the husband that glared each time someone touched you.
what you loved the most was watching Max play around with you son and daughter after the race while drinking some juice with Lando, Carlos, and Daniel in addition to Lewis and Charles who joined.
you also got to meet Oscar Piastri. And although it wasn't said out loud, you knew he was your replacement. You couldn't help but give him tips which he really appreciated, explaining to you that you were one of the figures that inspired and motivated him.
wen the day came to end, you found yourself unblocking all the numbers of the drivers ( after a lot of begging and whining from them ). the good byes stretched for hours, even though you were going to stop by tomorrow morning to return the car left behind in your garage.
🌿 ˚₊· "I'm . . . really glad she found her place." Lewis nodded happily as the drivers watched you pull out of the parking lot. "I've never seen her so happy. That's really good. But I want to keep her son, he's fun." Daniel chuckled as they begun walking back. 🌿 ˚₊· "Sorry mate, I called dibs first." Max joked as they made plans on inviting you to Christmas dinner even though there was still 5 months left. "Do you think she likes me?" Oscar asked timidly as Lando wrapped an arm around his neck nodding.

Ik i already sent a request to you but.. once you said you’re also accepting JJK requests. I just had to. I hope you dont mind this
Ok so im not into JJK as much as i am into Genshin and HSR and all but im aware of season 1 plot and some of season 2. But can i request Gojo and Geto with an underclassmen who they have a sibling like relationship die and came back as a curse spirit? (While this request have them together, you can make them seperate if you want)
Here the context:
So the reader is a year below Gojo and Geto. After some time since you guys met, the two of them sees the reader as their cute little sibling and in return the reader sees them as their cool big brothers. All was fine until the reader died from a mission. How did the reader die? They dont know. Both of them werent told how the reader died but if there’s one thing they were sure of, the reader wasnt killed by Jujutsu. Because what other explanations do they have when they see you come back as a vengeful spirit? A vengeful spirit they need to take out.
So in the JJK wiki, it is said that “Sorcerers must also be killed with Jujutsu or they can become a vengeful cursed spirit after death” Which makes a very good angsty sceanrio dont you think?
Hope you have a great day/night!
- Flower Anon 🌸
Hey there, Flower anon!! I absolutely love this idea, and thank you very much for the tasty angst. I've been itching to write some jjk angst, haha. Also, regarding your other request for the second part to the Lyney x reader one-shot, just know that I will make it in a separate post to your ask due to formatting issues! But either way, I hope you meanwhile enjoy this!<33
Content: Heavy angst, platonic relationships, Geto is deeply depressed, Gojo is in denial, hurt/no comfort, reader is a year younger than both of them, vague descriptions of readers death, mentions of blood/injuries, vague descriptions of jjk canon violence, sfw
Reader has no set pronouns!
Inspired by the song "Death" by Melanie Martinez

Back from the dead.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At first, you appeared in the flickers of lights, in the corners of mirrors, in the shadows casted by trees and their own bodies, in reflections of windows and water, in gruesome, awful dreams.
And then you began being there in larger ways. You'd stand behind them, follow them around, no matter where they went, no matter where they looked, you were right there.
It was easy to ignore you at first, act like you didn't exist, like you were just a part of their traumatised, exhausted imagination. When was the last time they had slept properly? Perhaps the day before your funeral. Your face was plastered everywhere, a smile gracing it like it always did, an excited, pure one for a sorcerer. But there was nothing to be excited about anymore.
Maybe that's why you looked so sad now, as you stood in front of them in this classroom that was reserved for people a year older than you'll ever be.
Suguru wondered if you felt guilty for taking the color of their world away with you when you died.
"You know... denial never suited you, 'toru." You whispered quietly to Satoru, breaking this suffocating silence at last. Your body leaned against the desk a row in front of him. It all felt so casual, as though everything was perfectly fine. You never left. You simply came back a little different.
This was the first thing you've ever said since you've come back, Suguru then solemnly realised in his depressive haze. He nearly didn't hear you and wished he hadn't either. Your voice sounded distorted, like it didn't belong to you at all. But it was still you... wasn't it?
The only visible sign that Satoru meanwhile had even heard you was in a stutter of his hands that in turn messed up his text to Shoko again. He took a deep breath and exhaled shakily. What was he even texting her for again? Maybe for help? For a way out? "I'm seeing things again, Shoko. They're talking now." That's what your colorless eyes could read off his broken phone screen, which made you frown a little. You knew he'd never want to upset you. But he never wanted to face you again. Not like this.
It was so unlike him too, wasn't it? He hadn't been the same for a while now.
It was late in the afternoon by then, the orange hue filtering into the empty classroom through the blinds. An awfully nostalgic feeling that was now filled with tense bitterness. A past filled with laughter and joking now seemingly disappearing into the smoke of the burning incense sticks nearby.
Neither of them had said a single word for the entire duration of your little "hang out" session. Suguru simply leaned his head against his palm, gaze turned to a far away point in the darkening horizon outside, as the sun bid it's last warm goodbye. He took a deep breath, words shaky and filled with a deep exhaustion, not even his dear best friend could ever come close to feeling.
"Let him be... he'll come around eventually." The blackhaired boy muttered back to you, not bothering to look at your bloody, dead form anymore. He had come to terms with it a while ago. Or at least, visibly, he has.
Gojo just took a little longer in accepting your death, is all. Neither of them really knew who was handling the situation worse.
"Who are you talking to, Suguru?" There it was again, the odd denial the white-haired teen had drowned himself in. You never thought that he'd be the one to end up like this. You figured that Suguru would've had it harder, but perhaps this was just one of the many new things you've learned as a spirit. "Stop it, Satoru... you're not helping with any of this. It's just... making things worse." Gojo's teasing smile twitched, his head turning to look at his friend before he seemed to slowly deflate into his seat. You probably could only imagine how red and puffy his eyes were behind the sunglasses he refused to take off nowadays.
But in a way, you must've also understood why he was this way. How couldn't you?
Your death was untimely, unexplainable. No one knew what happened, and your body was never found either. One day, you were absolutely excited about going on a mission with your two favorite seniors, four hours later, you were missing, and a week later, you were declared as dead. The only proof they really had was a piece of your bloody uniform floating in a river nearby where the mission was supposed to take place. Other than that, there was no trace of anything else regarding you.
Suguru wished they would've at least had something to bury you with. Your casket was empty. And Satoru was ashamed to admit that he dared open the lid in a desperate attempt to see if you were in there after all. Just hiding, waiting to jump out and scare him. But seeing nothing made him break.
Everything got worse when you reappeared as this, however. A vengeful spirit that simply followed the both of them everywhere. You were relentless. And yet, neither of them could ever find a single trace of anger on you. Their guilt was heavy enough to make up for it, though.
It didn't help that Satoru refused to talk about it, even when they knew what they had to do. You only ever appeared around them, and both of them had made the unspoken decision to deal with you themselves. They felt like they had caused your death indirectly. The what if's kept piling up higher and higher until it eventually brought them here.
They thought that they were finally ready to move on, but oh, how wrong they were. It was so hard to see you as a simple spirit to exercise when you still looked like yourself most of the time. It just got bad when you looked dead. They couldn't hide behind their excuses and delusions when you looked like this.
Time ticked on and the silence was deafening again. You leaned in close to Satoru, glossy eyes staring into his side profile. "Stop ignoring me. I know what you're here for." You hummed, face devoid of any emotion. But the constant dripping of the blood that poured out of your nose and lips made Gojo close his eyes for a second longer and gulp down the painful lump in his throat. It was childish, absolutely stupid. But maybe... if he acted like you weren't there like always... then you wouldn't be. You were just a hallucination, surely. Neither of them had slept or eaten properly in months. He just had to pray that you'll go away, finally find the peace you were looking for.
But when he opened his eyes and you were still there, he just bit his lip. He couldn't take any of this anymore.
"Tell them to go away, Suguru. Please." "So you're finally done pretending now?" The blackhaired male asked, glancing back at his friend for the first time in hours. The great Satoru Gojo. The strongest of them all. Now reduced to nothing more than a miserable teen at your death. It would've been funny if he wasn't actually losing it right now.
Suguru shook his head at the lack of response before getting out of his chair and standing over the white-haired sorcerer. "Let's go outside." He said, not waiting for the other to agree before pushing past you. Or rather through you. He shoved his hands into his pockets to hide this really was for him. As expected, however, he heard Satoru's footsteps following behind him with ease. Typical.
The walk was silent and rather aimless. Neither of them knew where they were going. But their subconsciousness seemed to know. Suguru's body felt heavy, like he was dragging and fighting himself with every next step he took. He felt uneven and unbalanced. Like he'll fall over and break apart at any moment, and he doubted Satoru would be able to glue him together with shaky hands and teary eyes.
Geto pulled a hand through his black hair, strands unkempt and messy as they fell down hus shoulders. He caught a glance at his face in a mirror, the dark circles, even darker eyes staring back at him near accusingely. The anger and festering hate hidden under a thick layer of sadness.
"They weren't killed by a sorcerer." He suddenly said when they arrived at the schools courtyard. Satoru glanced at him, frowning a little. "Why does it matter now?" He asked, yet his best friend didn't bother answering. Why should he bother when the white-haired male was unwilling to wake up to reality. Instead, he stared at the Sakura trees filling the area, the ones you loved the most. And as expected, you stood right under them.
Your hands were clasped behind your back, smile so gentle and serene, that it made it look like you were simply waiting on them as always. And in a way, you were indeed doing so. Geto was thankful that your consciousness was strong enough for you to realise what was going to happen next. "Can you do it, Satoru?" He whispered, voice so soft, that it made Gojo actually consider it for a moment. But despite always having prided himself in being the strongest, he just stood still. Suguru couldn't help but smile tiredly at him. Perhaps the other boy would be happy about this if his smile didn't seem so bitter and exhausted. Like it took up all of his energy to force the corner of his lips to go up.
"I think they are the one thing I could never exorcize." "I'm glad you're being honest... I can't do it either." The two boys approached the empty bench next to your form before simply sitting down. There was a large gap between them, one reserved for you.
Your smile stretched wider as you took their silent offer of defeat and took a seat as well.
Gojo tensed when you leaned your head against his shoulder, a familiar melody leaving your lips. Suguru leaned his arms on his knees and listened to you, eyes closing with a tired sigh. Perhaps playing pretend was easier. Perhaps you were never meant to leave them in the first place. Maybe one day someone would free them from you, someone who was stronger, someone who wasn't ever going to be them.
You were back from the dead, and they figured it was better than you having left them for good.
If only they could ignore the mangled state of your body too.
Tumblr media
Alright, I'm sorry this took so long! I also don't think it's that good, but I hope you like it anyway, Flower Anon! I've been super busy with work and everything else going on in my life, so I'm glad to post anything at this point. Anyhow, thank you again for this great request!<33

STOP I CANT WITH THIS MOCHI PLEASE 😭😭😭😭😭 pls more secret husbands 🥺 /nf
more secret husbands for you!! :D <3
season 9. ohhhh season 9.
grian loves scar’s elven tree. he also really loves his long hair <333 sometimes when he’s bored and they’re relaxing, grian will start braiding scar’s hair just because. scar always really enjoys it, he gets really relaxed and becomes jello against grian
god the looty and booty conversations… scar calls grian’s booty “adequate” one time as a joke and this man Never lets scar live it down. “gonna say it adequate again, dearest?” “griaaaan, it was one time! you know I love your beautiful booty! it’s amayzin’!”
I. Cannot believe I just wrote those words. ANYWAYS
they do the villager stuff with tango, and poor tango is third wheeling the Whole time. by now they know their friends are trying to set them up together, so their goal to mess with them is in effect. rip tango
the diamond pillar war… the fact that it started between scar and grian is so ???? look, they’re grossly in love and are absolute sweethearts. but they’re also the most competitive bastards with each other. it’s a part of their love language
scar has accompanied grian on many diamond hunting trips so he can make his tower bigger, and vice versa
when the hotguy thing starts… everyone is incredibly surprised by how accurate of a shot scar is — with the exception of grian, who knows how scar even got those accurate shooting skills. I think there’s a moment where he checks in with scar, just to make sure he’s okay and it feels alright. which has scar melting, pulling grian in by his waist and kissing his forehead, “I’m feeling a-okay, sweetheart. thank you for checking”
grian is very quickly exasperated by hotguy
when they go to the end together and scar kills him, he feels horrible. he didn’t mean for grian to lose all his stuff! he immediately heads home to meet grian in the overworld and help him with whatever he needs. he kinda follows grian around like a kicked puppy — except he’s the one who kicked himself. grian, while annoyed and a bit frustrated, takes scar’s face in his hands and promises that it’s alright, give him a few minutes to cool off
after their end busting trip there is a very long cuddle session
when grian starts having issues making progress on his mega base, he hides out in scarland a lot more. in fact, they’re in scarland for most of the season. the main reason is because grian wants to experience as much of scar’s dream with him as he can, and scarland is more polished and complete than grian’s rocks are
when building the scarland castle, scar consults grian a lot for block palettes, gradients, general building ideas. grian is his personal cheerleader through the whole thing
grian is also really clingy with scar while mumbo is off world. outside of scar, mumbo is very close with grian. after he crashed into mumbo’s redstone world, the two of them bonded a lot. they almost instantly became best buds. mumbo is grian’s second emotional support guy. he’s also been a constant in grian’s life since he joined hermitcraft (something he’s not used to having outside of scar) so grian misses him a lot, and with a member of his flock gone, he gets clingier with the others
scar doesn’t mind all that much, he loves a clingy grian — he’s always told grian not to be afraid to ask for things with him, and grian being clingy is a result of that. it makes scar happy to see (and maybe after losing him for two years or so, scar is a little clingy too)
grian bounces building ideas around with scar whenever he gets stuck on his base. sometimes the two of them will go there together and see what they can throw around
THE FUED WITH DOC…. it’s really funny because these two really are each other’s worst enablers. scar hasn’t been sleeping because he’s been stressing with building and hiding it so grian doesn’t worry about him. but that’s thrown out the window during grian’s intervention with his base. and then they’re flying to doc’s tunnel bore and oh god they’re in so much trouble. they hide together in scarland and start making evacuation plans to hide in their apartment in hypixel
and I’ll end this with: in between every season, with the exception of the jump between season 8 and 9, the two of them go back to their hypixel apartment with jellie and spend their breaks there <3

Hi, hi, hello, I am here once again to sound absolutely insane while arguing something buddie, this time from Buck's side because I haven't done one on him in a while. I think this is a Buck needs to choose defense, but who knows really ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Okay, I've talked about this before, but Oliver is a really big guy, he's taller than the rest of the cast so we don't see Buck looking up a whole lot. In conversations where Buck would be in a more vulnerable position, they put all of the involved sitting down so they are on the same eye level, when he tells Abby about the catfish guy, when he talks to Maddie after the bombing, when he talks to Maddie after Red dies, when he finds out about Daniel, when he talks to Maddie after the thing with Jonah, when he talks to Bobby after the lightning.
Tumblr media
Or they're both standing up, when he talks to Bobby before he quits before the tsunami, when he talks to Bobby after the lawsuit, when he tells Bobby he is one of the most important people in his life, when he tells Eddie about the fight with his parents, when he talks to Bobby after the crane, when he’s helping Eddie fix the walls (as I was typing this I noticed the trend of having him sitting down with Maddie and standing up with Bobby, which makes sense considering how much shorter than Oliver Jennifer is and how Oliver and Peter are just a few inches apart).
Tumblr media
Or they have Buck being the only one standing up, or just at a higher level, so that he has the high ground in sense, when he tells the 118 about the thing with Daniel, when he yells at his parents, when he talks to Maddie after he messes up with Red, when he breaks up with Taylor, but it is a trend to not have him look up at people. (All of these have more examples, I just didn't feel like screenshotting every major Buck scene lol)
Tumblr media
People he does look up to in vulnerable moments, moments actually end up leading to a fight? Ali and Taylor. He looks up at Ali when she's talking about not understanding what the job means and when he tells Taylor he kissed someone else. So he looks up at his love interests. Before a fight, but still looking up. Ali is the most intense example I could find in my quick skimming of the scenes I could think of, but since Taylor is standing up and he's sitting down, it counts.
Tumblr media
This does nothing for my point but I do want to point it out. He looks up at Eddie before the confrontation at the gym lol. Sure that ends with Buck towering over Eddie, but it starts with him looking up at him and fits the trend (or actually starts it? Considering this happens before Ali or Taylor lol).
Tumblr media
I could be wrong here, maybe there are other moments where he's looking up and I just can't think of them right now, but Eddie is pretty much the only person he consistently looks up to, when he clears with Bobby for Chris to stay at the station (not about him but he's looking up), the Hildy incident (this one is just funny but it happens), when he tells Eddie it would’ve been better if he had been shot, after Chim leaves to look for Maddie, after he dies. And it's interesting to have those last two scenes because he's going to Eddie for advice and they decided to literally have him look up at Eddie.
Tumblr media
Conversations with Eddie fit all types of categories when it comes to the two of them because they are best friends, just focus on these ones tho (you can read this for thoughts on framing in multiple scenes tho)
"But Anna you've said this before in at least 3 different posts already" I know, I know, and I have a point, I promise.
I like taking season 6 knowledge and recontextualizing the previous seasons. What does Buck want in season 6? Answers. From the dude at the happiness convention to “I’m the guy with the answers, I kinda like that”. But it’s not crazy to say that Buck has been looking for whatever this answer is his whole life, but the main thing is that Buck keeps looking for answers outside of what he already has, the choice he makes is to look for something else to make things make sense and for someone else to tell him so he can pretend he's not responsible for the consequences. There’s a whole other discussion here and I was talking about this yesterday, but Buck doesn’t really make choices in his life (bisexual king 🫶), he fell into firefighting, he tripped into every relationship he had, he didn’t pick his apartment, he still hasn’t picked a couch.
Okay, but why does that relate to the whole looking-up thing? I don’t know if this makes sense, but I think in a way he expects Eddie to have the answers in a way that’s a bit, not excessive, but like, bordering on too much? Like, for example, the way he takes what Eddie tells him before the tsunami and runs with it, the whole just move on thing that he is still doing (I’m kinda fascinated about the way that the end of the cemetery conversation gives the same message that Eddie tried to push onto him there and we all know how that ended for Eddie), the whole “somehow we manage to just suck it up, why can’t you?” and “a lot of I’s in there” and “you’re making it about you? again?” that does make Buck act as if having feelings about traumatic events means he’s making it about himself, makes him selfish, that makes him act as if he needs just to push through. He keeps following Eddie’s lead at all times. And I think that is something that needs to be addressed in some way before they can have a relationship. I do think post-lawsuit Eddie is trying, post-therapy Eddie is trying even harder to not lead them wrong or dismiss Buck’s feelings, and if Eddie asked Buck out, chances are he would say yes, but it would leave the question of whether he’s just following Eddie’s lead. Because Buck keeps tripping into relationships. We don't see him ask anyone out, we don't see Buck make the decision. The only way to fight this is to have Buck be the one to march to Eddie and go “I want this, do you want me?” and hope he’s doing the right thing while knowing he is the one who went for it.
And like, I don’t really think Eddie would ask Buck, not for lack of wanting, but because he runs from fights he’s not sure he can win, dude retreats back to safety like no one else, and taking a leap with Buck is not safe. But, hey, we’re supposed to believe Buck is the one who keeps running into unsafe situations, so sure, have Buck do it.
And I think the cemetery can be used as a start for that, because Buck keeps trying to get Eddie to tell him what to do, he keeps looking at Eddie and waiting for him to just give him the answers, but Eddie already retreated from the fight, he’s all “whatever you say, bud” so Buck thinks he’s doing something Eddie agrees on, but what Eddie wants is the opposite, the shift in the way Eddie is handling that conversation is really obvious and to have Buck go against it could be used in an interesting way.
And the cemetery scene itself opposes the whole looking-up thing because Eddie refuses to keep looking at Buck while Buck keeps poking him to get him to look. Buck is all “*tugging on his sleeve* tell me I'm right tell me I'm right tell me I’m right” and Eddie is all “you’re right buddy *narrators voice* he doesn’t think he’s right at all”.
Tumblr media
And Eddie is locked out of making changes in the relationship in a sense, because Buck basically told him “this woman is the one” so why would he risk the friendship when Buck has made it clear what he wants? In Eddie's head, it's a fight that's already lost, so why would he jeopardize the part of the relationship he does have for something he thinks is hopeless?
But Buck doesn’t have that, I think right now, the power is in Buck’s hands, Buck needs to realize he has it and Buck needs to make the choice to use it.
Mr. Human Calculator I Have The Answers Now needs to accept that life has a level of unpredictability and go for it anyway. Start fighting the current he put himself in and getting the things he does wants not the things he thinks he should want.
Random rant about the cemetery if you feel like reading my thoughts on that.
Random post about Buck, water, and the way he just goes with it forever and ever.
Shorter post about why Buck needs to choose.
My tag for metas if you liked my brand of crazy. 🫶🫶🫶

I know you've been getting a bunch of asks about your favourite qls, but I'm specifically curious about what your favourite *chaotic* qls are.
Off the top of my head, some chaotic qls I enjoyed were Chains of Heart (THE GLOVE DISCOURSE, THE SUBTITLES, etc) and Big Dragon (asshole4asshole? no. clown4clown), while also enjoying the way that the shows were shot.
@kayatoasted, I'm re-reading this ask to make sure I don't answer it with my favorite *trashy* qls, like Hit Bite Love and Together With Me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You want *chaotic* and they had to be beautifully shot, so although I love the chaos known as Love Mechanics and Dangerous Romance, both had beautiful shots but weren't consistently beautifully shot.
Tumblr media
And I had to have enjoyed not only how it was shot but the show itself, so shows like Vice Versa and Only Friends are out.
Tumblr media
No, you want my favorite beautifully shot *chaotic* qls that stayed chaotic which significantly reduces the list, but I can give it to you!
My Favorite Beautifully Shot Chaotic BLs
given in no particular order, and much like this subject, this list is chaos
Dee Hup House - Yes, the entire house
Tumblr media
I'm not coming for Director Tee or Cinematography Jim. Their shows are beautiful and more adult. I have loved every single one of them. But the endings . . . ? The endings wobble in Step by Step, Something in My Room, Hidden Agenda, and I Feel You Linger in the Air. Yes, I'm including the last one because Tee & Co seem to pick long ass novels that should be multiple seasons, yet a lot of nothing gets shoved into each over-an-hour-long episode, which causes chaos. Even Lovely Writer, which I love the ending, had a moment with the dad's reveal that didn't have time to get fleshed out. Look at Step by Step. We had an entire baby happen in three episodes when the side couple fizzled. I will watch every show from this company and gush about it, but I know it's going to be beautiful chaos.
Big Dragon - Duh!
Tumblr media
I'm not going to defend this show. Y'all already know I love this show. It was beautiful. It was chaotic. It was the moment. Period.
Chains of Heart - It's a given
Tumblr media
You mentioned it in your ask with reasons why: It was beauty. It was grace. Then, it kicked us in the face. The plot itself was hard to grasp, but the subs only made it worse! Who was who? Why were there so many Men in Black? How did they all fit into the plot? Why would Din volunteer for an entire face transplant only to reappear, never tell Ken it was actually him, then disappear again?! And yet the cinematography was selling this wonderful vision to me each and every episode. I hated it there, and I need more of it immediately. WHERE IS MY SPECIAL EPISODE?!
Not Me - Think about it
Tumblr media
We all need to be very honest with ourselves, and really reflect on the premise of this show. Todd put Black in the hospital, proceeds to call his twin, White, to act as him. White says yes even though he has absolutely no idea about Black's life, but he gets a big ass tattoo and his ass kicked multiple times by Sean (because he can't fight). While that is happening, we have Yok chasing around a rouge artist who is actually a cop named Dan who killed [spoilers] dad and Gram is apparently straight the entire time. Then, Papang is in it. Oh, and let's not forget being held hostage in a black van that protestors beat on until the kidnappers, just, let, them, go. Sure, Jan. And I didn't even mention Sean's leap across buildings! It was a good show. It's in my tops. I love it. The rainbow flag scene is embedded in my heart with the other beautifully shot protest scenes. But it was chaos! Let's hold space for that truth.
609 Bedtime Story - Messed up TWICE!
Tumblr media
I enjoyed this show until I didn't, and that was when we got TWO endings, yet neither made sense. The colors in the show were immaculate. The plot though? Chaos. One character was traveling back in time and the other was traveling forward, but they weren't even in the same dimension. Then, the sister could not take a fucking hint and ruined the central love story by being a dramatic heterosexual. The point of the time travel was useless because one of the characters still died, but it didn't matter since that character was still alive in the other dimension and . . . MAKE IT MAKE SENSE, MARY!
Cupid's Last Wish - It was the mom for me!
Tumblr media
EarthMix have gotten Director Aof twice, so maybe this is why this series, which isn't Aof, feels like chaos. It has such amazingly gorgeous outdoor shots, that I wonder if Thailand's Ministry of Tourism sponsored some part of this show. The series is a great advertisement for Thailand's beautiful landscape and cuisine, but then we have that plot. Body-swapping isn't the issue, at least not for me. The issue is the timeline. For a man who wanted to get out of his sister's body as quickly as possible, Win was doing the most to hold up the process. Oh, AND THE DAMN MOTHER! She was the true villain of the show, which got glossed over in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment. I'll never get over that reveal even though the show wanted me to by the next scene. She really did that shit and kept it a whole ass secret until the very last damn moment. *looks into the distance at a baby cow* AHHHHHHH!
The Director Who Buys Me Dinner - In short
Tumblr media
I'm going to quit picking on Thailand for two seconds to pick on Korea instead. Like all the others on this list, I like this show, and I've actually rewatched it a few times because I think it's pretty and it's so short. But there lies the problem - It's too short. The math was not mathing and the plot was not plotting. It skipped over information that was pivotal to the story. I still have no idea what that idol business was really about. From what the kind folks of Tumblr gathered, the idol was apparently supposed to get the guy in their past lives, but the other guy stole him and that's why he was crazy. How hard would that have been to explain to the audience? I did it in less than a sentence, but apparently the show spent its budget on lighting and not screenwriting or editing.
#1 - Mood Indigo - A masterpiece!
Tumblr media
I wrote that these weren't ranked, yet here is number one in "My Favorite Beautifully Shot Chaotic BLs" list. The other shows on this list are child's play in comparison to the second installment that serves as the prequel in The Pornographer/The Novelist series. Regardless if it's a BL or not, leave it to Japan to offer me this deliciously beautiful chaos. Unlike all the other shows, the plot of this show is not what makes it chaotic, but . . . it is. It's not chaotic in the sense that it's disorganized or doesn't make sense. It makes perfect sense, and that's why it is chaos. It's supposed to be.
Tumblr media
One character is depressed and has no fucks to give, so if something stirs an emotion in him, he does it without question (including giving the other character a bj in front of the older man who demanded it for another novel). Then, we have the other character who should be the more logical of the two, but somehow he is worse. I. Love. It. Everything that happens in this series makes everything we saw in the first season click into place including why these two toxic assholes are 1) toxic, 2) assholes, and 3) STILL FRIENDS!
Tumblr media
God, they're awful.
Tumblr media
I love them.

perhaps this is me being shallow and i’m not trying to insinuate that every driver on the grid has to be gunning for a wdc but i don’t understand why anyone would turn down a rb contract at this stage? i mean if the rumours about alex refusing the seat are true i just… idk i know he’s been personally victimised by helmut marko before and been through the rb ringer but he’s a much better much more skilled and experienced driver right now and if it were me i’d personally want to test my skills against max. rb is the most coveted seat right now, it’s an opportunity to get regular podiums and even wins if max messes up or you’re simply faster. i don’t enjoy this “running from a fight” mentality (not saying that’s what alex is doing rn cause ofc there are other things at play) and it is in fact one of the reasons ****** sorta fell out of my favour. anyway i hope this makes sense haha not a native speaker, and not trying to be rude i just… don’t get it. i had similar thoughts about lando before, when horner said they’d talk to lando and then he’d only use that as leverage in his mclaren contracts. but baffling to me to come all the way to f1 after dedicating your life to it and then just going “nah” when you have the chance to be in the best car cause the other might be better than you. i mean when max got to rb daniel was the guy who had just pulverised 4-time wdc vettel, and you didn’t see him hesitte to jump in the car mid-season
when you sign a redbull contract now, you know you're effectively going to play second driver until 2028. yes Alex is a more complete driver now and would prob fare much better vs Max now, but he's also been through the RBR ringer like you said. going back would mean adjusting to an entirely new car while Max has only driven redbulls, AND getting scrutinised 2x because of his prev performance. anything below p2 is considered underperforming in the best car, and that's a lot of pressure and ofc your ego having to handle being "Max's bitch." pulling a rosberg against a generational talent is not easy. at Williams alex is personally more involved and treated as team leader and the car has improved from being the worst back marker to a solid midfielder, with Alex outdriving it.
also. job security in f1 is notoriously limited with 20 seats and rookies from f2 vying to get in. let's say alex goes to RBR. he either has to hope they let him drive until 2028 and finally get a shot at the championship (if 2026 regulations don't turn it into a junk box) and no second driver is getting a 5 year contract. Valtteri went from the best car to a backmark/midfielder. He's not even in question when silly season rolls around for the Ferraris and Bulls, despite being a solid second driver who picked off wins when Lewis dnf'd. they might scout him for Audi because they need an experienced driver for development. your career moving from the best car can only go Down. Alex already had a year off from f1 as a reserve driver when RB booted him, whatever choices he makes -- it'll be with a long term goal in mind.
Alex has said recently that if the Williams doesn't improve, he will look at other options -- as he should! He's being scouted by multiple teams. The improvements of the Aston Martin and even Mclaren have shown absolute backmarkers can become podium contending cars within a season! you'd prefer to succeed with a team that knows you and will accommodate to you than a top team where you're expected to play someone else's defense. Which brings me to lando. Lando is in the curious case Max was in 2017/18, where all the top teams were courting him. He had offers from Ferrari and Merc, while nobody knew if the RB Honda deal would work, and the RB was DNFing every other race. redbull convinced max to stay, that they'll develop the car around him and they will become a top team. I'm sure mclaren is doing the same to lando, that's the only team he's driven for and he's getting paid Very Well, the team principal is literally invested in his business, and they started this season around p19/p20, and finished it on podium. the results are there, why would he move to rbr to pick off max's crumbs?
do you know who absolutely did run from a fight? daniel. bc RB had no outright driver hierarchy in 2018, they literally stated they wanted to win a championship with daniel -- but max was too much of a rising star and daniel dipped, leaving the only team his career had anything notable from.

Still trying to figure out glyphs and titan blood in the human realm...
So in Thanks To Them when trying to track down Hunter and the titan blood Luz states, “Glyphs are powered by the magic of the isles, by the Titan itself! The closer I am to the Titan Blood, the stronger the glyphs become.”  She then is able to create some very tiny tiny light balls with her glyphs in the woods outside the graveyard where the Titan’s blood will soon be uncovered.
Tumblr media
It’s kinda hard to tell how far away from the blood’s actual hiding place Luz is at that moment.  But she is still in the wooded area, is apparently outside of ear-shot of Hunter running ahead of her, and hasn’t gotten near the ‘lake’ to enter the inner graveyard at all yet.  So she has to be at least 300 feet, and likely even farther, away at that moment.  Once she actually gets to the edge of the woods outside the ‘lake’ her glyphs seem to be working at full power because she’s able to create a rather handy ice bridge.  Again, it’s still kinda hard to tell the distance, but it’s gotta be more than 30 feet...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, backing up a bit, the first time in the episode that we see any action with the glyphs is the faintest of reactions when Luz places her hand rather accidentally onto one while at her mother’s vet clinic.  This is likely at least a mile away from the hidden titan blood if it’s within the city itself.
Tumblr media
And backing up even further, the only other time we’ve witnessed attempted glyph usage in the human realm previous to this episode was in Young Blood, Old Souls during Luz and Lilith’s fight.  Where this happened...
Tumblr media
...and thus Lilith got to keep her face intact.
But here’s the issue:
It wasn’t JUST Lilith and Luz battling it out just off the steps of the mysterious shack in human realm woods that day...  There was also King, who followed the fighting duo through the portal door and was restrained by Lilith at the foot of the shack’s stairs.
Tumblr media
And the fight between Luz and Lilith happened, at most, 30 feet from him.
So how could the glyph have failed during that fight?  There was a literal titan chock full of titan blood VERY VERY close to Luz.
This is to say nothing of what the shack’s distance from the graveyard stash of blood might be.  After all, if there is a bit of a reaction from the vet clinic, why not here too?  Is the fact that the glyph Luz draws in her home during the opening montage has absolutely NO reaction (while the one she’d previously attempted to maim Lilith with in front of the shack seemed to crumble) significant?
So what’s the truth about the rules dictating glyph magic and how it relates to titans being their power source?
Is it a distance thing?  Is it about the blood being outside the body?  Is it something to do with King’s blood vs his father’s?
(Like, the vial that Belos unearths is thick-walled and it’s clearly stoppered well, so it doesn’t seem to be a matter of that blood being “out” while the blood inside King is “in”, because if there was any exposure to the air the blood would be free to dry out or drip out and we can tell that neither is happening until Belos smashes the vile against the archway.)
So WHY exactly wasn’t Luz able to mess up Lilith during their season 1 finale fight?  Because that glyph really should have worked if it all comes down to being close to a titan or parts of a titan’s body.
And I wonder if there’s going to be an actual reason that might be brought up in canon. Especially since King’s status as a titan hasn’t actually been discussed much.  The only thing related to his blood we really actually know is that the Collector didn’t really need it to be freed after all, just a titan’s cooperation/touch.

A Fool With Sungalsses – Kelvin x Neutral Reader – One Shot
Tumblr media
Prompt: What come from a mix of a sexy man with a silly behavior? Well… Idea by @hubbelebubbele
Tag: Fluff, just goofing here
During those languid months on that island, your relationship with Kelvin had changed, gradually, slowly and indistinguishably, like the lazy change of the seasons, like water through your fingers. The relationship had mutated like the beings that lived there, but, above all, he had changed. From an almost complete stranger sitting in front of you in the helicopter, he turned into a friendly goofball who helped you where he could, and from there, to a friend who was much more independent than he seemed and who could do almost anything. same as you. Except speak coherently.
His ears were working pretty well for the enormous damage they had taken at the time, but all that came out of his mouth was endless babbling mess, a cascade of nonsense, none of the words coming out correctly, it was as if his brain had changed his language to the language that Sims use.
That worried you a lot at first, it made you think his brain damage was more severe than you thought, but he wasn't affected in any other way, he seemed to think and act normally, and he also didn't want to seem to stop trying to communicate. Kelvin kept insisting, trying to speak, gesturing, and you supported him, trying to guess what he was saying. You didn't understand anything, but at least, practicing, it sounded more like words and less like a boat motor in the water. You assumed that practice made perfection and that perhaps that would cause the neurons that had flown out of his head to stick together again. Besides, you liked watching him try to talk, he was funny, he was a walking guessing game.
Little by little, as the weeks went by, some of his words came out correctly, only a few, half of the sentences were still a puzzle that had to be deciphered to understand it, but heavens, he had the spirit, that didn't stop him.
In one of your expeditions together around the island, hunting for resources, you two found a small human camp, abandoned, with a couple of old corpses thrown around, with some useful things to recover in the couple of somewhat broken tents.
While going through everything, he had found some clothes and a few belongings in a cloth bag, among which were some fancy aviator-style sunglasses. He put them on and walked up to you, gently patting you on the back and saying “Do who look I?”.
You turned to look at him and blinked a few times, processing what you saw. If Kelvin normally had a certain attractiveness that occupied your mind at certain times, he was now several times hotter, in a subtle intermediate between a model and a military man. And see him strut around a bit was worse.
“Oh well…” You chuckle, trying not to make it obvious that you found him absolutely attractive “Look at you... You look very, very good…” You swallowed hard.
"Uh?" He adjusted his glasses better, leaning sensually against a pole “I thunk you can maybe get I bates?”
You chuckled softly, shaking your head, understanding that he was asking you if you thought he could date with his new style.
"Yeah." You coughed softly, patting his arm, thinking to yourself, "Maybe when others can understand you, I won't be your human-kelvin translator if you go to a bar."
He adjusted his glasses again, looking sensually at the horizon, as if there weren't a wall of trees in front of him. “Jeaolusy you are cause sexy apple do I carry”
You laughed again. He was saying that you were just jealous of his sex appeal. You weren't, a little, somewhat, in part you would have liked to see yourself as good as he was. He looked really attractive, but seeing him this sexy, and hearing him talk so strangely, was a combo that was too weird and funny to take seriously.
“Brrrrum brrrrum” He pointed at you “Noisy” He made a gesture that you were making a cackle.
“Brum brum?” You laughed harder, covering your face so as not to make a scandal too audible "Shut up... you're the one who's making me laugh... If the cannibals come, it's your fault" You threatened him.
"Aiiii?" He feigned surprise, attractively, combing his hair “Horsecrap. Faulty you. Do nothing myself… I'm just poasting here modeling baby”
You laughed more, your mouth covered. You were sure that he was doing that on purpose, just to annoy you and make you laugh.
“Sure myself, if cannobals come tosee me, becoming leather myself” He stood up, straight, firm, as if he were ready to fight.
"Yes, leather" You patted his arm "If they catch you, they're going to make you leather to wear" You softly denied.
“Noooo, leather of bosses” He tried to clear up the misunderstanding.
“Leader” You said slowly so he could hear the difference better “Leaaaaaderrr”
“Yesss…. I say it… Leather ” He nodded, that was what he was telling you.
"You're impossible" You laughed softly, pointing at the sunglasses "Come on, leave that, we have to keep checking, you won't see cannibals with that on"
Kelvin nodded, looking at you, thinking. He already knew that as soon as you got back to the camp you had set up, he would spend another couple of hours joking with the glasses. If it made you laugh, it was worth it, because your laughter had been one of the first things he'd heard again, and it was now medicine for his bruised soul.

My thoughts on season 2 and the finale of TSLOCG’s
• So for starters, what the heck happened to Eric?? Even though Bela made mistakes it did seem like she genuinely cared for him so why did she give up so flipping fast? 🤔
• I hope that Bela gets mental help because there has to be such a deeper reason as to why she always needs others validation even if it means someone she cares about gets hurt.
• I actually did like Jackson and Kimberly but honestly, they really didn’t seem like a long term thing so I’m very glad that my bestie Kimberly broke it off once she realized her feelings for Canaan(I adore my girly)It was the right thing to do.
• I know some people will be team Canaan and Whitney and some will be team Kimberly and Canaan but in my opinion which is most likely an unpopular one, I didn’t really like Caanan and Whitney...Whitney had trust issues and I felt like they were just an awkward couple to be honest while with Caanan and Kimberly, I feel like they mold well and understand each other in a way that Caanan and Whitney didn’t? I don’t know, I just think they fit a bit more(don’t kill me lol) also it makes so much sense that Canaan likes Kimberly back now that I think about it because wasn’t he the one to mention how her and Jackson had nothing in common?? 🤔
• I think that Leighton shined very well this season and it was very nice to see it. It really showed how good of a person she really is behind that stuck up blonde facade she likes to show. An example would be how she was with Kimberly after surgery and even during the time when she had to take her shots beforehand. Then there is the telling her mom to give the donation money to the center, She really showed how good of a friend she is.
• I like that Leighton finally put her feelings first with the whole sorority thing, you could tell that she didn’t necessarily want to be in the sorority from the beginning but was just doing it because she wanted to feel connected to her mother and to make her feel proud. She felt like she would be disappointing her for being a lesbian but in the end she knew what she had to do and I’m glad her mother was supportive.
• I’m actually happy to see Alicia again, I was hoping the writers would take us back to that relationship once Leighton became strong enough for it. I’m also glad that they ended Leighton and Tatums relationship, I feel like if they would have dated in the first season it would have been better and made more sense and also might have even lasted much longer. I feel that Leighton is no longer in her, I’m better than everyone and hate everyone and everything phase anymore and Tutum just doesn’t fit with who she is now.
• Onto Whitney I’m happy she went on her own and found something that she loves and wants to pursue without her mothers help, you go girl.
• Kimberly; I absolutely love and adore her( I say I love Kimberly at least once every single episode) and am in dire need of a friend like her. I completely support her in selling her eggs, if sperm banks can exist then I don’t don’t see anything wrong with her selling her eggs. Get that education baby girl!!
• I can’t wait for season three and I hope that they go deeper into Bela for that season. I hope they all stay roommates and I hope that Kimberly and Whitney don’t let this mess with their friendship, we can’t choose who we fall for 🤷🏽‍♀️
To end this off I just want to say how much I love Kimberly and Lila and I need friends just like both of them.

review of s4 (skip if you don’t want to read criticism)
SPOILER WARNING
so, i finished season 4 a couple of days ago and... i liked some parts of it and one episode was good (episode 8) but for the most part i really absolutely hated this season and i never thought i would say that. in my opinion, it actually got worse towards the end! i must be living in a different reality from everyone else.
i’m sorry. i really am. but i have to get this off my chest:
- charlotte double-wielding guns and shooting up those white hand idiots like she’s in a john woo movie? awesome! except... it was dumb af. this could have been so good, i’m a huge genre fan of this type of action, but not at the expense of a character’s intelligence. there was zero reason for her to barge in there when she did. at least make it seem like they’re just about to kill the good pathologist, have them string him up or whatever and she sees and has absolutely no alternative but to intervene. or have them conclude their meeting and start making for the door. please, i’m begging, just anything to make her desperate actions make sense.
- malu taking a shot for kiddie fiddler wendt? thanks, i fucking hate it. for that matter, i hate what they did to wendt’s character.
- for that matter, awesome lgbt+ rep or uhmm not. reinhold and fred don’t even get a kiss or any significant scene together (the couples date at the very end is cute but too little too late) although fred actually has a fairly important role to play this season. we never even really get to see them talk about his decision to work for that nazi paper. like, what. okay, fred quits at the end, good for him, but does this qualify as a character arc now?
- speaking of lgbt+ rep, them blowing up the esther/edgar/walter polycule only to have walter go “well whattaya gonna do. i loved him ¯\_(ツ)_/¯” right as he croaks was the most ridiculous thing i’ve seen in a long while and didn’t land at all. i actually cackled. i can’t believe they turned the complex dynamic they had introduced in s3 into this clichéd jealousy mess that had no nuance whatsoever. i’m stunned people preferred their storyline this season. it didn’t track at all. neither did edgar showing up again (as i had predicted) and gereon believing him about wanting to broker peace in the underworld. el oh el.
- also edgar being like “oh btw we need to kill doktor schmidt, he’s an evil mastermind” was an absolutely ridiculous and lame way to try and advance that storyline. it also just got dumped in there and you don’t get any sense that it’s influencing gereon or his character actions at all. not that he has much of an arc or anything this season anyway but back when the show was still good (and by good i mean exceptional), his drug addiction and guilt complex was a major driving force behind much of what he did, how he behaved at work etc. here, in s4, you have to be grateful that they belatedly remember to send him to confession because he’s a catholic but that scene also just unceremoniously gets dumped in there. not to compare but since we have already seen an absolutely outstanding confession scene this tv season (in interview with the vampire, fabulously acted by jacob anderson), i couldn’t help but notice how the confession with gereon was neither written well, nor particularly acted well, nor integrated in its episode well, nor, in fact, scored well.
- max raabe’s ein tag wie gold is a bop but other than that, this season was not scored well and i say that as someone who owns the first two soundtrack releases on vinyl. there were many times when i noticed that something was off, where the music actively worked against the scene it was supposed to be enhancing. the song at the shabbat dinner was nice but as a jewish friend who i watched it with pointed out, them playing piano on shabbat is very sus, even if they’re a reform household. there was a woman with a wig which indicates (ultra) orthodox. not going to nitpick that scene any further though because the shabbat dinner and abe goldstein’s character in general were a highlight (although i loathed the storyline he was stuck in).
- tell me you don’t want to write actors out of the show without telling me. nyssen and helga have long overstayed their welcome. nyssen they could justify by having him pop up from time to time in connection to the rocket science “plot”. but he’s lars eidinger (who’s great), so. helga has just become whatever they needed her to be. anne marie’s actress had some extremely dodgy acting going on this season, sorry to say. i don’t even want to talk about the idiocy of how they wrote this storyline which could have been extremely good and important. i’ll just say that i laughed my ass off when anne marie clocked abe with her flute but generally it was not a good choice to play these kidnappings for laughs (and i guess these rich people just have no security whatsoever, even after the first kidnapping). there’s a time and a place and this storyline wasn’t it. but rich people, funny, or something. well, they are ridiculous.
- the whole story with the butler. talk about wasting screentime. his götz von berlichingen monologue was also really bad although i was delighted when i heard the verses. it just didn’t land. that goes for many scenes this season imo. i don’t know if it was the directing or what but even stuff that looks interesting on paper just does not come across well. it just comes across as ridiculous and manieriert. but not in the good way. (there is a way to do this well and the show used to walk that line very well. not anymore, it seems.)
- (side note: the frivolity of the movie industry provided the perfect pastiche for that sort of thing in s3. which is why i really vibe with it, as someone who’s a huge fan of 1930s movies. didn’t even mind that they relocated the apex of expressionism into the late 1920s when that’s very ahistorical. but anyway that’s a different topic.)
- actually as a last point on the nyssen storyline, abe goldstein shooting a hole in the ship instead of shooting anne marie in the head made me groan. it was so obviously written that way just to give her a chance to pop up later again. it made absolutely no sense, even if you try to handwave it as an attempt at poetic justice. neither did helga leaving her down there make any sense. she had no way of knowing that abe would kill her or make it seem like he killed her. at that point, helga still looked like she could think straight, she didn’t tumble around deliriously, she made a clear choice. and they just did it for the twist, not because it made sense for the character in that moment.
- the show was always very drunk on coincidences, twists of fate etc in that 19th century charles dickens / victor hugo way and i could dig that for the most part because they had this rich tapestry of social commentary going on. while i can still appreciate the breadth of society that they’re trying to show, it now comes across as shallow, there’s no immersion, i was extremely distanced from everything going on and couldn’t have cared less, which is a damn shame considering that this is where we should start feeling even more involved.
- as for one storyline that i couldn’t have cared less about: everything to do with toni. in fact, i think it would have been far more poignant if we hadn’t seen her for a season and hadn’t known what had become of her after running away and then when we least expect it, charlotte comes across her living on the streets, maybe while chasing a suspect or something. now that’s a coincidence i could buy. and such a scene would play like a gut punch. but they rob themselves of any dramatic impact by wanting to overexplain and overshow and being all pedagogical which is a huge problem in the writing of german tv shows and s4 of babylon berlin has started showing all the hallmarks of mediocre german tv and it makes me feel sick, considering how stylish and epic the previous seasons were.
- toni’s actress is not good. i’m sorry. i just have to say it. but also, they stuck her in a nothing storyline. moritz’ actor fares better but if they wanted to pair off the spares and get rid of them, they needed to do that in a way that would’ve left more screentime for the interesting and/or relevant stuff. like, uhm, everything to do with malu/litten/charlotte etc. it’s a damn crime that they didn’t do anything with lotte being fired from the police and then hired by litten. nothing. she gets to mope around at the bar a little bit and poor jacky gets to be her hapless sounding board (he deserves better, so many characters and actors in this cast deserve better). and then she gets to be gereon’s emotional support system. once again, charlotte is deprived of any and all agency and no, the double-wielding scene does not make up for it. the scenes in that haus sonneborn institution were well-shot, the horror film genre influence was clear, but unfortunately i don’t much care for horror films and i also, at that point, did not much care for toni or her friend or the pathologist (f*ck him for getting rudi killed in a very lame rip-off of stephan’s much superior exit) and we all knew lotte wasn’t going to die. that’s what i mean by immersiveness: where in previous seasons i’d have been on the edge of my seat with tension and dread, this didn’t elicit much emotion from me at all. except for the groan when lotte did her thing at the end there. the only good thing to come out of that was her conversation with gereon about her guilt which was the only time in the entire season where i believed a scene between them, emotionally, and was invested.
- i guess that, on the bright side, she got to be happy. i support that. even though i don’t believe it should have to come at the expense of the show being good. and she still had to go through that awful ordeal of the dance marathon. (one of the few memorable scenes of the season, at the very least.)
- random but i very much liked the actor playing oskar. and he was very much underutilized. really, don’t get me started on the entire debacle that was malu’s storyline. i think i’d rather have watched an entire season set on that zeppelin than what we ended up with.
- litten not even being in the finale should actually be considered a crime against humanity considering he’s literally the best character on the show at this point. for that matter, the trial against katelbach and the undermining of the legal system and the press should have been a much bigger arc and point. katelbach still being a comic relief character only used to bumble about not knowing whether he did propose to behnke or not is absolutely ridiculous. these are the characters we’ve come to know and care about and they were paid absolute dirt in s4. behnke’s best scene was the train heist and even that was not edited or scored well but hey, at least it was amusing and they did something with some sort of flair there.
- going back to lotte for a moment. i’m happy for the charlotte/gereon shippers that they got so much fucking out of them this season (to be crude, then again so is the show) but i can’t be the only one who thought they were awkward as all hell together. i never shipped them but i did always like their dynamic and i thought their kiss in s3 was magical. what they did with them here did absolutely nothing for me, i cringed when she visited him at the station and their idea of sexy talk in between kisses was discussing case-related work. none of it had the levity, flirtation or charm you’d see in a lubitsch film (one of the alleged inspos for this season) although liv lisa fries sold the hell out of her infatuated smiles and looks. volker bruch trying to smile was physically painful to me, however. sure, it could be charming that he’s an awkward turtle duck but considering everything we know about the bts issues, it really didn’t endear me any further. i dread having to watch them be awkward together in future seasons and i absolutely dread lotte’s only purpose being tied up in that. for that matter, how did she earn her badge back at the end? surely not with her double-wielding gun action? but it’s not like the show really cared to pursue this as a storyline or her as a character this season, so why should i care.
- the way they threw rukeli in there at the very end of the season was almost offensively bad. i was extremely excited for him to show up ever since they had insinuated that he’s her half-brother in s3. the actor here was fine (i wouldn’t count on him being accurately or sensitively cast bc german productions usually don’t do this, haven’t checked it, however) but you’re really going to do a whole season where boxing is at the very least on the periphery and you’re only going to throw him in at the end to make some sort of point? we didn’t even get to stay with him and lotte during their first meeting? we’re just supposed to believe they have some sort of relationship now after that camera shot panned out, showing them through the window of the café? i’m sorry but what?
- worst of all: them having him use chalk as white paint to mock the nazis in the audience to make a point. you can’t make a character we’ve barely even met the dramatic and emotional high point of the season. and i’m sorry but rukeli was a real person and in real life he was forced to present himself with bleached hair and white paint in an “aryanized” form, this was part of the abuse he suffered!!! it makes me absolutely mad to think about how they tried to turn this into some kind of empowerment thing here. nevermind that at this point in time, audiences were still overwhelmingly on his side and actually protested against fights being rigged against him. i just absolutely hate everything this scene chooses to be. i also hate how gereon walks up to that one guy who can command~ the crowd and we get a flashback to something that happened in the same episode, like, just 30 minutes earlier, to remind us that this is the guy he refused to shoot so they can defuse the situation in the dumbest most construed way possible. i feel like i’m losing my mind when i see people say that this is good writing. good writing would have involved audiences not needing a flashback to something that happened in the same episode, just because almost nothing in this season is giving anything resembling the appropriate weight and focus.
- speaking of which, the case of the season was so uninteresting and lame i even forgot to talk about it. and i still don’t have anything to say. except one thing: why did weintraub not immediately suspect that something was up with max (the henchman) when that car bomb went up killing the other henchman? because weintraub arrived in the car, went inside, came back outside and suddenly a bomb has been attached to his car in the meantime and max was standing there all the time? like, what?? this season is littered with this dumb shit and maybe it was prevalent in the other seasons as well and i just chose to overlook it because there was so much for me to love but i genuinely can’t believe five adults wrote this season and struggled so much with thinking any of it through. it feels like they just had little chess figures with pictures of the characters attached to them and tried moving them across a board.
- oh and one more thing about the flashback issue. böhm and his family being in that apartment at the very end was an absolutely ridiculous scene. his money issues were well-telegraphed, a little too well-telegraphed if you ask me, and his involvement in the shoot-up was already extremely obvious by the time his wife demands to know where he’s got his money from. that bit where he collapses against the wall and we get all these flashbacks to things an audience that’s half-way intelligent and half-way paying attention has already gotten long ago was just embarrassing for the show. the issue wasn’t just with the flashback, however, it was also with the way it was shot and edited. so many scenes this season really don’t land as intended. i feel bad for the actors because they’re doing their best and they’re also not at fault for this weird issue in german shows where they do really bad ADR (re-dubbing scenes when there were sound issues in the footage from set, it makes dialogue sound very unnatural and strange and the show always had this issue in certain scenes but in this season it’s amplified to the max, i almost couldn’t watch the edgar/gereon reunion because of the bad sound engineering). but woof that böhm family scene could have been a highlight but the way he creepily said something to the effect of them never being separated (probably telegraphing an eventual fate that we call “erweiterter suizid” in german where usually a man kills his family and then himself) and then the show just straight up cutting to the nyssen last will scene without giving any of it the time to sink in was absolutely comical. i’m sorry. but there are scenes this season that feel amateur and i don’t think you can blame it on covid when the editing is at issue.
- having said all of that, i was excited for gereon’s arc this season and imo they never did anything of note with him undercover in the SA. why not have him befriend stennes for real, become conflicted about what he’s trying to do (and, well, in fact him and the police president do want stennes to succeed so it wouldn’t even have been that outlandish). him talking to the police president about the mission at home while his very much indoctrinated nephew is in listening distance was so so dumb omg.
- the stennes putsch which i also was very much looking forward to was such a flop that fizzled out without any real spark. his confrontation with wendt was lame af. the actor is awesome, his interactions with wendt in s3 were intriguing and this what it all leads up to? gdi. i can’t believe they wasted so much time on that homophobic blackmail material plot when it was never even picked up again after it got stennes out of prison. he never should have gone to prison before the putsch, he already had his conflict with wendt from last season, they could have saved so much time on this and dedicated it to something actually interesting. and if you actually want to get into the messiness of homophobia and homosexuality in the SA, röhm and all, you better be prepared to bring on figures like magnus hirschfeld (it’s honestly ridiculous he hasn’t even been referenced on the show yet because he was super famous in berlin and germany in general and also a favorite target of the nazis). reference the harden-eulenburg affair. do something with this. not just have wendt buggering a kid in a park. i like that gräf was quietly pissed at gereon about the whole thing but this should never have been a storyline in the way it was implemented.
- it really ruined wendt on top of things. not that it made him worse as a person because he was already bad before (though lbr it did make him worse ofc) but it made him a whole lot more uninteresting as a villain (he only seemed to find his groove back in the last two episodes). the interesting part of his dynamic with malu in s3 was the intellectual clash of ideologies. while i did not and do not ship them, i was very intrigued to see where they would take that in s4. well, i have my answer. they skipped any and all interesting and relevant development and turned it into an extremely clichéd and lame honey trap plot because we all know communists loved honey traps. groan. (yes, i watched the americans.) also, rilke is my favourite poet and has been for many many years and wendt needs to keep his words out of his damn mouth. i can’t believe they revealed that wendt used to sexually abuse underaged boys and still wanted us to think that his relationship with malu is in any way romantic, cute or intriguing?
- i was so rooting for doktor völcker to get him and then malu just had to take a bullet for him. bruh. just when i thought i couldn’t hate this season more. i know i already mentioned it but still. at least she didn’t die from it, small blessings, but her getting shot straight through the chest and then being back to spy shenanigans on the zeppelin not much later was just the height of ridiculousness. i always hated the train confrontation between gereon and bruno and it seems that the show is very very determined to evermore move towards that pulpy comic book-y version of the show that i can barely tolerate in order to get to the good stuff. but when there’s barely any good stuff to get to, it gets tough.
- do i even want to talk about edgar? him taking the kids away from esther was lame. anything to do with esther was lame. i can’t even muster more to say and edgar/gereon was one of my absolute favourite dynamics in s1/2 so i should’ve been overjoyed to see it make a return here. but, in the eternal words of the matrix: not like this.
- finally, doktor schmidt, eh? well. where to begin. first of all, jens harzer is one of the best living german actors, he’s phenomenal, and the fact that he still gets so little development is a fucking joke, frankly speaking. i might have liked his scene with alfred lying on the floor best. at least it was funny. his sessions with gereon were hamfisted in their analogies. his last scene with gereon also didn’t land, it was just groan-worthy. gereon repeating back his words just made it all the more obvious how much of their luster they have lost at this point. i can’t believe someone spoke schmidt’s platitudes in a serious way like some sort of cool mic drop when the “quelle der angst” stuff only works in that hypnotic evil drugged out therapy session way jens harzer says it. the cgi was also bad but that’s neither here nor there (there was a surprising number of badly lit and framed scenes in this season, idk if they changed cinematographers but even the staple shot of following a centered gereon with his hat around became extremely overused). the thing is that i’ve long been convinced that doktor schmidt isn’t actually anno / gereon’s brother, so i should be happy that he seems to be finally be revealed as a svengali type which i also find very fitting for the movies and culture the show references as well as the history it tries to reflect (in fact, this season was as thematically rich as ever, with many metaphors and analogies for the rise of evil etc etc but what good is that if it’s all pedagogical and the actual character writing is either non-existent or utter bullshit?). they’ve dragged this out for too long now. they also, and this might be the worst offense, have completely lost the connection gereon is supposed to have to this plot. nevermind helga or moritz. have doktor schmidt be a svengali figure, fine, love that, i vibe with it, but that doesn’t mean this plot should have no advancement. it really feels like they treaded water for as long as they could because they only had a very vague idea of where they wanted to go with this and still needed to figure out the details. well, hire some fucking writers (and by that i don’t mean hire your wife, like one of the director/writers did for s4).
- i’ve really come to loathe this very german tradition of producers, directors and others thinking they can write scripts themselves and that there are barely any decent writers around who are just that, writers. we have some that are barely okay but the structural issues of underpayment etc ensure that the talent that exists can’t turn this into a job. instead you really just have nepotism and all those people who think they can write but where the wheels eventually come off. now i’ve loved babylon berlin for a very long time, i’ve been there since the beginning, i’ve actually been there since the first press announcement (the show spent a lot of time in production hell before s1/2 saw the light of day, the budget kept ballooning etc). and i will say that i think the first three seasons featured some of the best that german tv has to offer. (s3 slightly less so but it was still entertaining and i think they did a really good job introducing a number of great characters like malu and litten in it, plus sabin tambrea is always fun!) but i must now question whether i was not more so taken in by the direction, the music, the style, and some very expertly shot and executed scenes that the show either cannot or does not want to afford anymore. the type of scenes that are needed to let the wild and often nonsensical plotting breathe and give the characters a chance to shine, to give all of it depth and resonance. i’m really so profoundly sad by the direction this show’s quality has taken and i have no idea whether it’s because one of the directors did more this season than the others, whether it was because of the new writers (i hope not). whatever happened, they had enough prep time and this just ain’t it.
- last point: i know how annoying it is when a show that you love gets hated on by others, so this is the last thing i’ll say about that. but i really needed to get this off my chest because i’ve been loving the show for a very long time, i’ve been investing a lot of time (not so much in recent years but before that) into spreading the word, at least here on tumblr and irl where i got several people into the show who all disliked s4 as well btw, i loved making gifs (which is also why i’d say i have a very good eye for the cinematography and style of the show and all the finer details but gif-making isn’t a real credential ofc lol). and i’m usually quite chill about stuff, i’m neither a super stan even when i love something (which is also why i didn’t watch it first thing it came out) nor am i a hater when i don’t like something but a case like this, where i genuinely loved something and it turns sour, that hurts, man. i’ll probably watch the next season - if there’s a next season! - because i still hold out hope that it might be better, i think it’s an important history to tell and the show had everything set up in order to tell it. there are two gif sets i want to make of this season (which is also always a good gauge for me to tell how i feel about something, and even those sets aren’t sets i absolutely want to do but i’ll do them nonetheless at some point; probably). after that i don’t think i will use this blog much anymore but i’ll keep it online for as long as tumblr is online because i always find it annoying when other people delete their stuff.
so long und auf wiedersehen!

Terrow and/or oakworthy?
Hey, Rae! Hope you're having a beautiful day 💜💜💜
First up: Terrow!
Tumblr media
While they're not my absolute favorite of the kiddad ships, I love them and also their potential dynamic! I diiiiiid have a fic idea lined up for them at one point that is still very dear to me so mayhaps. Eventually. I'll give it a shot sbdfakbffs. I think they'd be SO cute together and... I don't want to necessarily say good for each other bc like there still would definitely be issues but maybe the two of them would actually be one of the pairs to talk out their issues. I really think Terry and Sparrow have such an interesting dynamic to explore - they're both such observant people and kind of the therapist friends of the group by default (Sparrow as the lovewolf, Terry as the son of a therapist). I'd love to see how they'd navigate a relationship together - it's something that holds a lot of potential to me!
Up next: Oakworthy!
Tumblr media
THEY ARE. SOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD I NEED THEM TO KISS I NEED THEM TO KISS PLEASE FOR ALL THE GROSS TEENAGERS OUT THERE!!! Okay now that that's covered I think Oakworthy actually has so much depth to it beyond them being gross weirdo overdramatic rival(!!!) silly guys in love (though that very much is an important and vital part of their appeal). Normal and Hermie are both struggling so much with their identities this season and kind of. Foil each other in that respect. And what is SO interesting to me in the aftermath of episode 31 is where it all goes from here (obviously). Like, Normal's entire life has been turned upside down with the revelations about his family, the discovery of his powers and his attunement to the Doodler, and he threw off the identity he so desperately clung to in order to help his friends fight for a better world and save his family and fix this catastrophic mess. And now, with Teeny stolen, there's a very real chance that Normal can never get that part of himself back, creating even MORE identity issues and problems in the process (Normal is a cleric and Teeny is his idol, and having that taken from him is devastating on so, so many levels as both the source of his power and of his personal beliefs and ideals). On the flip side, Hermie ALSO had no idea what the fuck he was getting into - he just wanted the costume, but he just had to commit himself to the performance and in the process he learned that (1) something is inherently fucked up with these teenagers and also they're probably the only ones who can stop,,, whatever happened to Tony Pepperoni at the dance, (2) the world is ending apparently? has been ending???, (3) he's adopted, and (4) he's never been human because he's actually half non-euclidean trickster and half demon. Like, the "I'm either disassociating or this is who I am" line is SO MUCH to me actually. He just wanted to do something for his school and then he ended up with his entire identity stripped away from him! Who is Hermie? How is he supposed to know? And then, after everything, he goes and circles back and steals the mascot outfit - and, I might be eating my words with this one come Tuesday, so take this with a grain of salt - he steals Teeny, and this reads to me like he's doubling down on the person he used to be and reprising that role in an attempt to mentally push down those feelings of not knowing who the fuck he is anymore. Which, you know, valid! But his actions are stripping away a huge piece of Normal's identity in the process, therefore rendering Normal incapable of doing the very thing that Hermie is attempting to do - use his previous persona as a sort of safety net, a safer place to return to from a bygone era when things were simpler and he was just a regular kid, more or less. And I think that there's something pretty poetic about that.
Oh my god, that got long. Um, yeah, anyway, I think the world needs more representation of disgusting weirdo-for-weirdo teenagers being in love and I think Oakworthy should be that representation. Please I need them to kiss. Like. Pretty please I'm begging.

Rec List 2: The Witcher
-  Meet Death Sitting by bomberqueen17
“No,” Jaskier sighed. “This is the thing, Geralt. I’m middle-aged and tired and I just think I’d rather meet death sitting down and facing it rather than from behind while I’m running. You know?” He contemplated that a moment, and finally added, “Especially if it’s you.”
Set after the end of season 1.
8/8 Completed,  46,086 words
-  there's no plan, there's no kingdom to come by vachement
Jaskier was pretty sure he was dying. That, or Yennefer and Geralt were planning to murder him and sell his dismembered corpse on the black market, and they were buttering him up so that he wouldn’t fight back.
Okay, so maybe the second option was on the wrong side of absurdity, but Jaskier firmly believed that something was up.
There was no other reason, after all, for the two to be so nice to him.
Oneshot,  3,690 words
-  the falcon cannot hear by FandomTrash24601
He may not like Yennefer, but he doesn’t want to be more of a burden than he’s been already. If he can convince them that he’s good, that he’s great, that he’s ready to take on the world once more, then he can be out of their hair. He’s just an imposition on the perfect little family they’ve got going on, and no matter how he feels he’s not going to homewreck them. Not when there’s a young princess involved.
Title from the poem The Second Coming, by William Butler Yeats

“I adore you,” says Jaskier.
“Yeah, I know,” says Geralt. “That’s your problem."

“It’s been such a long time, Julian. When will you be over him?”
Jaskier’s laugh, muffled and humorless, followed the question.
“I’ll let you know when I figure it out.”
“I don’t enjoy seeing you hurting.”
“I’m fine. Most of the time.”
“Most of the time,”  Valdo echoed, and then, “oh, fuck.”
The progress bar stopped. Error loading. Tap to retry? Geralt tapped. This video is unavailable.
After Jaskier goes viral for being a pining mess during a livestream, Geralt’s family tries to figure out exactly why the couple broke up, given that Jaskier is clearly still in love with Geralt. Meanwhile, Geralt is in denial, Jaskier is absolutely fine, thanks, and the internet is having a bit of a breakdown.

“You’d like us to be intimate then?” Geralt inquired earnestly. Jaskier nearly choked on his spit.
“We’re married, aren’t we?”
“Plenty of married couples would rather clean gutters than see each other bare. And you have that tavern girl of yours, from the village-- hush, that’s not an admonishment. I just assumed you’d been… put up for auction, when a groom was requested in the place of a bride. That you had no earnest, physical interest in men. Or if you did, that I was out of your age bracket. Which is acceptable. I have less than no interest in traumatizing you, or anyone, with my attentions.”
It was beginning to sink in for Jaskier that maybe, just maybe, he had in fact been joined in holy matrimony with a perfectly lovely man.

“This isn’t nothing.” His eyebrows draw together. “Jaskier. What happened?”
Jaskier fists his hands in his own hair and contemplates pulling it out. “I got shot.”
“Shot,” Geralt echoes, in a tone Jaskier’s never heard before.
“Only a bit,” Jaskier hedges. “I took some vicodin, it’s perfectly fine. I can hardly feel it.”

-  when one there are none by foxwedding
Jaskier's living high in the lap of luxury when Geralt barrels back into his life. The bard's been playing court songbird to one of Redania's higher marquises, delighting sheltered nobles with ballads of the countryside and general plight of the common folk.
Then Geralt and Yennefer arrive and Jaskier becomes aware that something might be deeply wrong.

Things that Spark Joy-4x12
Again this will mostly be Malex focused because how could it NOT be, but there was also some other good stuff this episode as well! As always, salty thoughts are here, but lets get into all the joyful goodness!
It was nice getting a classic Liz voice-over again!
We also got a few good Echo moments which was nice because I really liked them in the beginning but the writing just could not deliver and sent them in circles more often than not. But Jeanine and Nathan are great and play well off each other so it was nice to see them on the same side of things and working together and supporting each other. His love for Liz being his anchor was a good callback to season 1.
Kybel was SO CUTE this episode! Just staring at each other and grinning like idiots until Max interrupts at which point Iz definitely had an “if looks could kill” moment. I haven’t been thrilled with them sidelining Kybel most of the show only to cram it all in now, but that’s partly due to just how fun Trevino and Lily are to watch together and I wanted so much more of it all along the way! At least the show doesn’t look like it’ll leave them hanging in limbo forever. The big kiss was cute too and Jeanine’s initial reaction, her shocked Pikachu face, and Liz’s continued badgering of Kyle for info was a nice reminder of how far that friendship has come.
Kyle also continues to be the heart and steady rock of this group. Every scene he’s in is so good and I just love his character so much. He’s so encouraging of Isobel, and Rosa and especially Liz this episode. He’s gentle with her, while also not letting it slide when he sees something is wrong. I know I talk a lot of shit about this show and the plots never making sense but I really do love Kyle and I wish they had utilized him better throughout the show because he really is an amazing character.
I’m not...particularly thrilled with the addiction storyline for Liz or how it was handled but I LOVED getting Rosa/Kyle/Liz scenes! They’re siblings and we should have gotten more of them together when Rosa first came back but it was nice to get it before the end of the show. Also Rosa’s line to Liz about Liz needing to realize she needed help before anyone could truly help her was a good lesson for someone like Liz who has been so independent and taking care of herself and everyone else for so long.
We also got some pod squad scenes again which while brief, were nice and hopefully we’ll get some more in the finale of the three of them working together.
Max taking that cheap shot at Clyde was all of us in that moment
Loving Dallas and Michael’s relationship and how it’s grown! Michael picking him up and bodily moving him to safety was sweet. It’s going to be so good to see Dallas happy when he performs the wedding this time because you could tell he was putting on a front earlier.
And now it’s time for ALL THE MALEX GOODNESS! This episode allowed Tyler and Vlamis to do what they do best and deliver gut punches, epic speeches, tenderness, and jokes, all wrapped up with love. The show sidelining them and not letting them have the majority of their scenes together over the past 4 seasons has been one of the biggest mistakes this show has ever made, but at least even with the mess they were given, Tyler and Vlamis absolutely delivered a whole meal this episode! They make us believe all the things we didn’t see or the show didn’t build up to because they are absolutely magic together.
We all know how everyone, included Tyler and Vlamis feel about that banner, BUT taking the words away, the sentiment is Dallas and Bonnie in this post-apocalyptic hell-scape trying to make something festive to celebrate what should be a joyful moment but it tainted by grief, and as such it’s incredibly sweet and makes me tear up as long as I don’t actually read the banner. I love that they found some music to play too, just trying their best to make something special with what they had
Michael refusing to let what should be the happiest day of their lives happen in grief and turmoil instead was EXACTLY the kind of energy I expected from him. Though NGL, Alex saying “don’t let me die without marrying you” would have been the kicker for me, but we got to see Michael building on what he learned in season 2, that he can say “no” and topping it off with a vow that he will not let Alex die and he WILL marry him, at home. He knows what Alex wants and what he wants and he is READY to fight for it.
Plant Daddy Guerin!! We’ve been knew he wanted to study agricultural engineering and with the tidbit we got about Nora causing the field at the Long farm to grow, it was nice to have this moment letting us see Michael’s genius as well as the tie to his mom. Plus Michael and Alex making innuendos and smiling and giggling at each other is adorable and I love it so much for them.
If we don’t get to at least see a glimpse of Malex getting to take a long hot shower when Alex is healed (or sitting in a bath, I am NOT picky) I’m going to riot. Them being so open about their affection and desire for each other has been SO good to see this episode! And around other people too! They deserve some time for comfort, relaxing, and tenderness after all they’ve been through..
We got SO many sweet, soft, casual touches with Malex this episode! Like, yes Michael is helping Alex walk because he’s sick  and hurt, (and even without that you know they’d be wrapped up in each other anyway) but Alex is letting him because he trusts Michael with this part of himself. We also got cheek brushes, and chin brushes and just near constant touching which is exactly what I expected from them and exactly what they both deserve.
The way Michael gently chided Alex about how bad the situation was for him and made it clear that with everything going on, he’s choosing Alex and being with him because it’s the most important to him, was so good! He had the tone of voice *almost* like talking to a child (”every minute is like being in a microwave for you”), but it comes across more like “you idiot, you are my priority and getting you safe is more important than anything else so stop worrying.” I just love that scene so much.
Alex laying down to take a nap was a mood honestly, but also he’s probably been unable to let his guard down much being alone in a place with unknow dangers so him feeling safe enough, even when sick, to let himself rest because he knew Michael was watching out for him is just 🥺🥺🥺
Michael’s absolute refusal to even entertain the idea of leaving Alex behind was such a mirror to Alex not leaving him behind in Caulfield! But while that moment was about letting go of the hope to reunite with his mom in order to survive another day, in this case it’s a scene about clinging to hope, and FIGHTING for their future. And no harsh words come out this time, just a steadfast belief that they will make it. Michael’s little “so drink up, soldier” you can tell made Alex grin a little (and if he wasn’t actively dying he surely would have said something about being an airman not a soldier) but it also solidified Alex’s hope and gave him strength. He’s a military strategist and a genius in his own right and he ran the probabilities and of course factored his own life so low on the list that his death was an acceptable loss. So I think it was something he really needed in that moment, to see that Michael wasn’t going to give up on him, Michael wasn’t going to leave him behind, that no matter what anyone else thought, his death was not an acceptable loss to Michael. We’ve been asking since season 1 to see Michael fighting for Alex and he absolutely came through here, even when Alex wasn’t going to fight for himself. I am dyyyying at Kyle (the heart of this show)’s words coming back around, that when Alex was out of hope, Michael would carry it for the both of them, and in turn, Alex was able to carry it when Michael’s ran out. It’s that feedback loop of helping to carry the weight and it’s not always and even 50/50 split, but it’s always shared. BRB gotta go cry about them for a minute.
And then we have the end of the episode, where all of Michael’s hope has finally dried up. He pulled a miracle out of a hat and it wasn’t enough and now we are really hitting the Caulfield parallels but with both of them saying the things they couldn’t fully say back then. Michael sobbing and saying he’s only ever wanted to make Alex happy and should have married him when he had the chance and that he just wanted to build a life together broke me. He has been dreaming of that white picket fence, little alien babies, and a dad band since he was a teenager and a few weeks ago they were solidly on the path to that future and now he’s given everything and failed. But now it’s Alex’s turn to carry hope for both of them. Him flat out telling Michael not to to talk about “his fiancé” like that was so good and something I think they will both be using in the future as a tool to combat the other’s self-worth issues when they crop up. Then we get Alex making it clear this time that it’s out of absolute love, but to stop whining. just...*chef’s kiss*. Michael always said his genius increases when he’s pissed off but at this point he’d given up all hope. Alex gave him exactly what he needed which was a reminder that he has done impossible things before, and that he has always had to fight and make his own way. “There must be some spark left in six aliens. Make it!” was so powerfully delivered and the jump-start Michael needed. Alex wasn’t giving up, so he wouldn’t either. (Also, not to bring 911/Buddie into this, but this scene hit me RIGHT in the “you don’t find it son, you make it” feels.)
And there we have it! I am SO excited to see the finale and the Malex wedding (at HOME with Sanders in a tux, Michael and Alex actually happy, and without that godawful blue filter), and I’m holding out hope for a handprint healing because by golly, we deserve it. But more than anything, I’m looking forward to the Vlamburn photoshoot and all the Vlambase goodness! It’s been a wild ride, but Tyler and Vlamis especially built something so special and I’m glad things are ending on a high note for them. They, Malex, and the fans deserve it.

I’m not planning on watching volume 2 because of the sheer mess of volume 1 and the disgusting Stancy shipteasing but could you say what the gross Stancy scenes are and if there’s actual substance behind them? Make it make sense please I just wanted Jancy to reunite and be happy and have them have their own individual storylines without this stupid love triangle :(
Hey anon so after all I'd def recommend watching volume 2 if you watched volume 1 because, well volume 1 is worse. On all accounts, both regarding Jancy and just the show in general. And the season ends with Jancy having a sweet reunion, then there's an ambiguous scene with them where they talk but don't really resolve all the tension between them, but at least say they're okay. And most importantly: Final shot of s4 has Jancy, Jopper, Mike, El and Will all together watching how the Upside Down is now fully leaked into our world. And in the shot they have Jopper stand together holding hands and Jancy stand together holding hands. So the season ends on Jancy holding on and staring danger in the face again together, which is of course good. Plus the fact that they mirror Jopper in the scene, the Jopper ship was super realized in vol 2 with making out scenes and all.
The Stancy shipteasing remained just shipteasing and onesided. It was very gross to watch and completely unnecessary (the love triangle is absolutely not needed, they're doing Nancy a huge disservice and Steve as well). First shiptease moment in vol 2 is when Nancy comes out of Vecna's trance (Nancy has a really good scene with Vecna that opens vol 2 so that was cool), basically Vecna just lets her go after telling her everything (why he did that I don't fucking know maybe it'll come up in s5?) and when she snaps out of it Steve catches her and is like "I've got you". Gross but nothing more than that.
Then there's like a moment when they and Robin go into the UD again later, they like halt and look at each other for a moment but nothing more.
There's a scene where Steve randomly tells Nancy that his future dream is to have 6 kids and drive around the country in a winnebago WEIRD THING TO TELL YOUR EX WHO HAS A BOYFRIEND STEVE. Nancy is surprised and says "That's... nice?" and then is like "except for the 6 kids part". She clearly doesn't want to be a baby making factory in a winnebago. I take Nancy in that scene as not really into Steve's future dream but glad he suddenly has one after being so directionless previously. Then later when they're in the UD Steve tells her he wants Nancy to be the woman in that future dream, aka his baby making factory (my words not his but). Nancy looks at him shocked but Robin interrupts before she can respond.
Then they're p much busy fighting supernatural stuff so not anymore big shipteasing moments between them after that, that I can remember at least but I pulled a 13 hour shift before watching vol 2 so I might forget smth.
So the season ends with the Cali gang finally rolling back into Hawkins two days after the big battle. Jancy have a super sweet reunion, he lifts her up and everything, presses a kiss to her forehead. Apologizes for that she couldn't get a hold of him and she tries to start explaining what happened in Hawkins but he tells her he knows, and she's confused and he says he'll explain everything. During this Steve is in the background looking forlorn and Robin pats his back lol.
Then Jancy and El, Max and Will go to see Lucas and Max at the hospital (Max is in a coma). Jancy don't have any lines in this scene but I like that they took the kids.
Then they're at Hopper's cabin, where they plan to hide El. The cabin is in uh bad shape so Nancy whips everyone into cleaning mode. Jancy then have a scene where they talk while boarding up a hole in the wall. First they have a funny moment watching Argyle being weird. Then Jonathan says he's sorry he wasn't there, but Nancy says she's glad he was with Mike and Will. Then Jonathan says he's glad she was in Hawkins bc "Otherwise, who'd have been in charge? Steve?" WHICH IS TRUE everyone in Hawkins would've died 20 times over by ep 3 if it wasn't for Nancy. But here's what I despise the Duffers for, they then have Nancy say: "He's actually grown up quite a bit, you know?" Which is like, fine whatever, that's not saying she has feelings for Steve but it's just so weird to keep a little shipteasing alive still by having Nancy bring up Steve here. Then Jonathan asks if they're okay and Nancy says yeah, but there's some hesitation from both, then they agree it's hard and Nancy says "life keeps throwing things in the way of our big plans" and Jonathan is like "sure seems like it". Then Nancy jokes about putting "saving the world" on your college resume. Then she asks "not that it matters at all" if he's gotten his acceptance letter and he says no not yet and doesn't mention the community college thing. Then scene ends. Then Jopper show up and the Byers family have a sweet reunion as Nancy looks super happy watching it, then it ends with the final shot I mentioned above.
So this was rambling but yeah to sum up: I still think Jancy is endgame. But I hate how the Duffers have written them lately. I don't get why they try to keep the played out love triangle alive into s5 but I guess they think it's good for buzz around the show or whatever. Like I said I hate they have Nancy mention Steve in that last talk, not bc I think she has feelings for him, but bc it's just unnecessary. I think the other stuff they talk about in that scene, the feeling that life keeps throwing obstacles in their way, and the issue around their college plans, that's enough for tension in the relationship. The Stancy shipteasing is completely unnecessary because it's clear Nancy absolutely doesn't want what Steve wants. Also, given all the "looks" in the Stancy shipteasing moments, take note of this: The way Nancy looks at Jonathan is WAY different, deeper, happier, muuuuch more meaningful than how she looks at Steve.
I think Jancy will work through some issues in s5 and come out the other end together. The obstacle of issues around college plans can be solved a myriad of ways, and like Nancy and everyone else says by the end of s4, stuff like that don't really matter much anymore given everything else that's going on. Jancy will be together for s5, face off against evil together again, when they're at their best. And I do think they'll work through their shit and at the end be together.
