Both guy and Ted are canonically fans of star trek. Mini Reviews: Petrol Head, Sinister Sons, one of the best debuts of the year, and more! 4 reviews this week! #comics #comicbooks
Sometimes, the staff at Graphic Policy read more comics than we’re able to get reviewed. When that happens you’ll see a weekly feature compiling reviews of the comics, or graphic novels, we just didn’t get a chance to write a full one for. These are Graphic Policy’s Mini Reviews and Recommendations. Logan If You Find This, I’m Already Dead #1 (Dark Horse) – Despite its wordy title, If You Find…

Soo... James Gunn just announced some new movies coming out. So I wanted to share it and tell you what I think about it.
Also, the new Flash movie will appereantly reset the time line. Matt Reeve's Batman will continue as an Elseworld. Aquaman is still coming out. Anyways here it is:
Tumblr media
A lot of people may not like this since Henry Cavill won't be playing Supes, and as much as I'm dissapointed because of that, I'm still looking forward to this.
Tumblr media
You guys don't know this, but Midnighter is one of my favorite characters ever. I just hope they adapt this properly and not screw up like the Wildstorm comic did.
Tumblr media
A new Batman? I like that. Grant Morrison's run? Fuck no. I'd prefer Tomasi's writing every single day. I just hope they don't make Talia a rapist or ruin Damian's character or sideline him. But I'd also like to see other Batfam members on the screen so...
Tumblr media
I'm really split into two on this one. On one hand, it could be really awesome. On the other hand, why not put her in the Superman movie first as an introduction, so when you make her movie you won't need to pass over the origin story and instead focus on the current one. Also see for yourself how is her chemistry on the screen. But I'm hopeful on this.
Tumblr media
This is plain awesome. Swamp thing is one of the most intriguing and powerful charcaters on DC. And with it being Moore's run, we can see characters like Deadman, Spectre and PHANTOM STRANGER!! I'm just really excited on this one.
Tumblr media
To be honest, this is the first time I'm hearing of these characters. So I don't really have opinions on them. But it will be animated, so this could turn out interesting.
Tumblr media
I have 0 interest in this. Why is this even necessary? I don't know what to feel for this one.
Tumblr media
BOOSTER GOLD TV SHOW!! I fucking love this. Finally, he is getting the attention he deserves. And the fact that we can see Blue beetle in this? Amazing.
Tumblr media
I think we all expected this one. Personally, I'm invested in this. And the fact that it's a tv show? Great!
Tumblr media
I don't think this will be really interesting, but I hope I'm wrong. Maybe we can even see some Greek Gods. That could be exciting.
What do you guys think of these announcements?

I’m getting better at this, vol 1:
He’s touchy because they’re his weird alien folkways and what does he know about them except Zod’s freaky reinterpretations that mostly seem to culminate in smearing him all over the floor of the universe? He wishes he could know this better, and not be in the position of say, a decent guy trying to patch together a coherent world picture based exclusively on old propaganda reels and guessing at who he might be, only to come up with ‘the villain’ every time.
I’m getting better at this, vol 2:
He had wanted to impress John: to use his best manners, to charm him. How excruciating, to want in a particular way and find it once, several times, and still to be denied it. This is the uncovering that etiquette is meant to preserve him from, making a sword and a shield of his own emotional reticence.

Top 5 comic book characters/superheroes and why are they your faves? 👀 (hope it's ok it's not drama related question)
nooo i love that this isn't drama related!!! cape comics were my main fandom for ages so it's fun to be able to talk about them again
let's see let's seeeee
Bruce Wayne / Batman - the obligatory number one boy. i feel very "well i loved him before it was cool" but it's also like, batman. everyone has a batman story. but! i remember being a Youth (like 14? 15?) and being like "well i want to get REALLY into the straightest white man thing i can think of bc i am a big gay brown girl and i'm better than them" and so chose batman. i didn't get as intensely into it until i was 16 where i just read fucking, everything. straight up, i only realized i had ptsd as a teenager through reading batman and the exploration of his trauma over the years (which is why tom king's batman is my favorite batman run). he's just a really personal love of mine and part of how i made it through the angry traumatized teenaged years of my youth!
Matt Murdock / Daredevil - if bruce is about ptsd, matt is about depression. he's another character where the exploration of his trauma through the comics really resonated strongly with me. the mark waid run in particular (which i know everyone always cites) did a lot for me. something about this page in particular is always something i come back to when i feel overwhelmed, and that's one of the few pages in comic books i can say made me and the way i deal with things feel really seen.
Damian Wayne / Robin - i love this kid. i love his anger and his earnestness and just how hard he tries. i don't think comic book writers are very good at writing kids generally speaking and especially not kids with trauma but damian gets the grace and care that he deserves. if you are not a damian lover, you will be after reading Tomasi and Gleason's run of Batman & Robin. that's where i fell in love with damian as a robin and bruce and damian as a unit. i know everyone cites the dickbats run for damian but i really think this does what i love for damian much better.
Oliver Queen / Green Arrow - i love ollie. COMICS OLLIE ONLY. god, he's been so badly misinterpreted by so many other media that i always hesitate to talk about him sometimes. comics ollie is my sweet socialist sjw who will throw tons of money at causes and also fight cops with his bare hands. i love his anger, i love his heart, i love the fact he's an oblivious frat boy poet. i love how much he cares and how he never hesitates to actually get into the issues. i also love that he would beat the shit out of barry allen for being a centrist piece of shit. i love oliver queen.
Reed Richards / Mr Fantastic - i love reed richards bc he is insane :)

Adventures of the Super Sons Vol 1 Action Detectives - DC Comics
By Peter J Tomashi, Carlo Barberi, Art Thibert, & Matt Santorelli
I have been eyeballing this book for a little while. It came out in March 2019, and the singles have been on the shelves for longer. Honestly? The concept is just heckin’ cute. Damian Wayne and Jon Kent? Stopping crime together? Being the childhood best friends their dads never were? YOU GOT ME, DC, YOU GOT ME.
Tumblr media
Much like their parents, they get caught up in some planetary high jinks. They have alien villains who have adopted the personas for Superman’s and Batman’s villains. The boys are being thrown into space prison. They even meet some future visions of themselves, even seeing what life could be like for them in the future on Earth. Spoiler alert, right?

Spoilers for comics in April!
These are from the official solicits for that month, which you can see at CBR.
The Black Label Rogues series continues that month, and Girder will appear in a Flash movie prequel comic.
ROGUES #2 Written by JOSHUA WILLIAMSON Art by LEOMACS Cover by SAM WOLFE CONNELLY Variant cover by LEOMACS 1:25 variant cover by JORGE FORNÉS $6.99 US | 48 pages | 2 of 4 | Prestige Plus | 8 1/2" x 10 7/8" ON SALE 4/26/22 17+ You might think you know Gorilla City, but you don't. Not a soul who has gone looking for the secret kingdom has ever returned. You'd think the Rogues would know better than to go searching…but they either don't know or just don't care. The down-on-their-luck ex-cons are back together for the heist of a lifetime, but every time Captain Cold thinks he's got things all figured out, the rug is pulled out from under him. And even if they make it to Gorilla City alive, they have a version of Gorilla Grodd unlike anything you've ever seen waiting for them…Continuing this groundbreaking neo-noir take on some of the DCU's greatest villains!
The cover makes it difficult to figure out who’s going on the mission, assuming the lineup is actually representative of the story.  Len is obvious and so is Lisa (third from the left), but who are the others?  The guy in front might be a Mirror Master and maybe the guy with energy in his hand could be Weather Wizard or Kadabra, but that’s just spitballing.  And those appear to be Trickster pants on the second person.
Looks like Digger’s in for a rough time in the continuation of this Black Label series.
SUICIDE SQUAD: BLAZE #2 Written by SIMON SPURRIER Art and cover by AARON CAMPBELL Variant cover by QISTINA KHALIDAH $6.99 US | 48 pages | 2 of 3 | Prestige Plus | 8 ½" x 10 7/8" ON SALE 4/12/22 17+ The inmates who volunteered for the Blaze program are discovering fascinating things about their newfound powers—and about the best ways to torment their Suicide Squad watchdogs. Are they discovering anything about their core mission of stopping the cannibalistic metahuman who's terrorizing the planet and who, uh…might have just defeated Superman…? Well, slightly less so. But they're all going to be dead in three months. Or a lot less. Let them have fun, eh?
As you can see on the cover, Len appears in the New 52 omnibus.
JUSTICE LEAGUE: THE NEW 52 OMNIBUS VOL. 2 Written by GEOFF JOHNS, PETER J. TOMASI, TOM KING, and others Art by JASON FABOK, IVAN REIS, and others Cover by JASON FABOK $150.00 US | 1,256 pages | 7 1/16" x 10 7/8" | Hardcover ISBN: 978-1-77951-558-2 ON SALE 6/21/22 One of the boldest eras in Justice League history continues in this massive collection, featuring the second half of superstar writer Geoff Johns's run on DC's premier super-team. Volume two collects the rest of Johns' Justice League issues plus the Forever Evil and Darkseid War story lines, all leading up to DC's Rebirth event.
I sure wasn’t expecting Girder in a movie prequel...
THE FLASH: THE FASTEST MAN ALIVE #1 Written by KENNY PORTER Art by RICARDO LÓPEZ ORTIZ Cover by MAX FIUMARA Variant cover by ANDY MUSCHIETTI $5.99 US | 48 pages | Variant $6.99 US ON SALE 4/26/22 Race through the streets of Central City in this lead-up to the hotly anticipated blockbuster The Flash! After Barry's adventure with the Justice League, he's determined to become a truly skilled and inspirational hero. As a new threat emerges in Central City going by the name of Girder, Barry turns to Batman for advice on training to master his powers. Can the Dark Knight help show the Scarlet Speedster a way to defeat this metallic menace, or will the Flash be crushed by Girder's strength?
THE FLASH #781 Written by JEREMY ADAMS   Art by FERNANDO PASARIN and MATT RYAN Cover by BRANDON PETERSON and MICHAEL ATIYEH Variant cover by NIKOLA ČIŽMEŠIJA $3.99 US | 32 pages | Variant $4.99 US (card stock) ON SALE 4/19/22 The Eclipso War left Wally West stopped dead in his tracks…but a brand-new villain has emerged to wreak havoc on the Scarlet Speedster! An exciting new story arc begins here!
