Concept: monster battling game where the monsters get increasingly abstract and conceptual as they evolve. Like, you set out with a cute little sentient trash can as your starter, and by level 60 you're beating people up with the idea of Public Sanitation.

Monster Raising Genre Takes
Did you guys know that Dragon Quest V was cited as being an inspiration for Pokemon and not the other way around. Did you guys know that Digimon was created by Bandai to go hand and hand with their Tamagotchi line as a 'Tamagotchi for boys'. Pokemon didn't invent the genre.
There are so many monster raising games that came before and after Pokemon that are on par or even better but the one we choose to support is Palworld and I'm very very very amused by that. I don't care if you play or enjoy Palworld I just think it's very funny.
When genre fans like me were like 'hey you should try out this or this it's super good' and then people in the West pissed themselves saying 'omg Pokemon clone' but now PALWORLD is the one that people changed their minds about. Actual peak comedy.
If you want some good Monster raising genre recommendations: Dragon Quest Monsters is incredible; all of the games are fun in some way. Fossil Fighters; Monster Rancher, Digimon World Dawn/Dusk and the Cyber Sleuth series, Monster Crown, Monster Sanctuary, Cassette beasts, etc.
NOT TO FORGET! One of my absolute favorites if not my favorite; Demi Kids. It's a more 'kid friendly' SMT spin off and it deserves the world. SMT in general came out way before Pokemon so ya know lol.
Tumblr media
Also Ultraman had Capsule Monsters waaaay before Pokemon was even a glimmer in anyone's eyes. DBZ also had capsule based stuff very similar to Ultraman. If this is what makes people realize that Pokemon didn't invent monster battling then I guess that's okay lol.
Okay I'm done lol.

Hey you! Yes, you! Do you like TTRPGs? Monsters? TTRPGs where you catch monsters and have them fight with the power of friendship? If you said yes to any of these questions then A Monster's Tail might be the game for you!
A Monster's Tail is primarily inspired by the Pokemon franchise, but is also inspired by games such as Digimon, Dragon Quest Monsters, and Jade Cocoon.
This game comes with an entire region to explore with your friends and over 60 Genmon (the name for the monsters you will encounter) to battle, catch, and befriend! And potentially more if certain stretch goals are reached!
The classes/jobs of A Monster's Tail are called Journeys. Journeys do more than decide your stats and abilities as a trainer. They also decide your character's goals and aspirations!
Journey as The Champion to be the very best like no one ever was, to catch them is your test, to train them is your cause. A classic I'm sure you're all familiar with.
Journey as The Idol to show off the beauty, grace, and sheer adorableness of your Genmon! Become a shining star in the world of entertainment!
Journey as The Professor to research and uncover the mysterious secrets of Genmon! Become the nerd you were always meant to be!
If all this isn't enough to convince you, here's one last thing...
One of the Starter Genmon is a magic Pomeranian called Pomiraiden that can shoot lightning.
*mic drop*
...
*picks mic back up because I'm not done yet*
As of the time of this post, you have 17 days to back A Monster's Tail. Fund it while you still can!
*mic drop for real this time*

Every legendary caught!
Every Pal species registered in the Paldeck!
Every tower Boss Defeated!
I am now the very best, like no one ever was (because I killed everyone else).
What an adventure this has been. I did not expect to love this game as much as I did. First time I saw a trailer for this game I thought it was a joke. Crazy to think it actually has a very strong chance of being my favorite game of the year and its not even FINISHED.
Now I guess it's time to say goodbye to my Pals for now and look for another game to play while I wait for content updates.

Questant
pages from the interactive forum adventure, which takes place within a dreamcore inspired original setting that features psychic powers, alien species, alternate timelines, monster taming, and otherwise trying to find what gives your lived experience of reality meaning.
I've been asked a few times about the project I've alluded to on this blog, and while I still need to make a separate combo art and worldbuilding blog for the setting projects like it are from, I figure I should post this.
There's a new update after two months, and it's the first half of the ritual used to create the protagonist's cognion starter.

Finally back with an update to my game progress. Spring Break is here so I have a lot of free time, which means updating more! I finally used the Water Key and entered the next world, and have been breezing by most of it. I started to encounter some M sized monsters, but they’ve been very easy to take down, despite their size. Besides this game, I’ve also been playing the 3DS version of “Severed”, which is SO GOOD. I’ve also been playing Theaterhythm Final Bar Line on the Switch, and it’s more challenging than it’s 3DS predecessors! I’ll try to keep you guys updated as the week continues.

I discovered this in-development game yesterday, and I just wanted to give it a shout out! It’s currently up on Kickstarter for the next two days, having far, far outstripped it’s base funding goal. It even surpassed the goal to be ported to consoles as well! The passion and effort that has been poured into this game so far is so clearly visible and audible in every bit of preview material the developers have shared with their community, and it is just absolutely amazing. To me personally, the game is stunning. (The Dev team are also the ones behind the popular Pokemon Xenoverse fangame!)
If anyone seeing this post is a fan of the monster catcher/tamer genre, I cannot recommend more that you give the Kickstarter page a glance, there is more to see there that the devs have shared so far! And! There is a demo available on Steam too!

Please help me, I’m trying to find this one game but I can’t remember what it’s called. It’s a game for the DS or 3DS and it’s about this blonde girl who is a new witch just starting off on an adventure. The black cat is her sassy mentor figure, and it’s a monster catching game (like pokemon) where you capture and train stuffed animal monsters. It was not a popular game, but I remember seeing someone play the first level on YouTube. Please help me find this game.

two edits I put together for my next update of my art quest on sufficient velocity and thousand roads forums. both are on an alien planet, and are a memory that could be selected as the core memory to build the pov character's inner world, and is where their starter mon will live and rest when not summoned
the last update had character creation, which'll make this update the first where we can see the protagonist.
