so, why do magical girls (when they are depicted with weapons) usually depicted as using weapons of a previous era? there are a hundred fencers, a dozen musketeers, but practically no magical girls with anything used after the first world war.

you are pitting Jesus and Santa Claus against each other. I am acknowledging Santa as both a mythic symbol of Christ and a cultural legend based upon a real man whose faithfulness to Christ was used by God to grant common grace not just to the people of Myra but throughout the entire world. we are not the same.

Love the idea of trickster Lucifer/The Devil who tries to manipulate and psychologically torture everyone into leaving god and taking away all their chance to be redeemed.
But I'm hungry to see Michael never falling for it.
And I don't mean the Archangel who goes down to his level to make people still have faith, who also hurts others and even his own to go against the devil. Neither do I also mean the Archangel who is blinded by faith and does whatever he wants because he can't fall, or even the Archangel who acts just as pompous and prideful as any other prince.
I clave for the Archangel who fails and learns his lessons, who always gets hurt in the end but never gives up on humanity, the one that became so human it breaks him entirely, the Archangel chief prince that rules through heaven and the pressure of it holds him forever. The Archangel whose faith doesn't waver, whose scars are visible like those of a warrior, whose mind is sharp from the ages and wise from its confrontarions with the devil. The one who is patient enough to hold a conversation with the worst of kind, the one who has learned resilience from the humble and recieved strength from the loveless. The one that has been through the war and never forget it, but neither does it forget to love the enemy through it.

Demeter: You say “Please” and “Thank you” in front of Hera all the time, and she never repeats it.

What's your opinion on religious influences in Dragon Ball?
There is a lot of Judeo-Christian imagery (white dove, Upa scaring Devilman with a cross, Goku as a Moses-type figure, etc.) I don't like it when Seventh-Day Adventist fearmongers like Little Light Studios call Goku a Lucifer-type figure.
Beerus and Heles look like Egyptian gods
Comment on your thoughts in the reply section and like, share, reblog, and boost. U can do this matter your religion.
Dragon Ball is a mix of different religions †☪︎✡☯☸ૐ⛩️🀀𓋹⚛
I'm not gonna talk about Journey to the West since everyone knows that Dragon Ball was influenced by that story.
Ki comes from Eastern religions. A comparison to make is the Jewish concept of ruach tamah, described by rabbis as similar to ki and as the source as Samson's power
Judeo-Christian imagery. Super Saiyan is similar to the glowing state of Stephen (my interpretation, I'm Christian btw). Goku is a "SON UNDER THE SUN". Goku is also a Moses-type figure, like Superman. A white dove also appears aside of Android 16. That's the symbol of the Holy Spirit. Upa also scares Devilman with a cross. Magic users (with the exception of Baba) are all evil. Baphomet-like demons are always the villains. Goku's values are also Judeo-Christian/Islamic. Dragon Ball has a god hierarchy like Marvel, but Zalama who is above all, just like the One Above All in Marvel, has a similarity to Yahweh of Judaism and Christianity or more like Aether of the Hypsistarian cult.
The Kais relate to the Buddhist Heavenly Kings and Hindu deities. Beerus and Heles take inspiration from Egyptian paganism.
State your opinions and thoughts in the reply section.

According to letters and previously unpublished manuscripts, J.R.R. Tolkien began writing stories about Middle-earth as far back as 1917 when he was deployed in the First World War. During this time of time of senseless destruction and tragedy, Tolkien created a hero that embodied these fears; Turin Turambar, the self-proclaimed “Master of Doom.”  There is no shortage of heroes in Middle-earth; the diverse cast of characters is a primary reason readers are attracted to Tolkien’s books. From the highest order of Elves and Gods to the smallest Hobbit in the Shire, anyone can be a hero. Manwe, Gandalf, Beren and Luthien, Eowyn, Frodo, Sam, and so on. These heroes of Middle-earth are generally positive figures, they show compassion for others, take council in wisdom, and put the needs of the helpless ahead of themselves; standard qualities for an archetypal fantasy protagonist by today’s standards.  Turin is different. He is disturbed, melancholic, and vainglorious, though he is capable of compassion and accomplishes much in the name of good; of Turin’s many exploits, the most remarkable is single-handedly slaying Glaurung the dragon, a scene reminiscent of Sigurd and Fafnir from the “Volsunga Saga.” Despite all of Turin’s achievements though, despair follows. His sister Lalaith dies from plague as a child and Turin never recovers emotionally; Turin’s father Hurin is captured in battle, believed to be dead, tortured for decades, and cursed to watch his family suffer from afar through dark magic; Turin’s homeland is overtaken by bandits and subjected to thralldom; Turin is forced to abandon his pregnant mother at the age of nine and the two never meet again; he is exiled from his foster home after murdering an advisor to the king, refusing to return on the one condition that he ask for forgiveness; he kills his best friend Beleg after mistaking him for an orc in the dark; most disturbing of all, he discovers that his pregnant wife, is actually his long lost sister Nienor. Upon realizing their act of incest, Nienor casts herself into the ocean and Turin falls upon his sword, thus ending his miserable life.  Turin, a complicated anti-hero that isn’t quite sympathetic, but pitiable, is a jarring departure from the other heroes of Middle-earth. There is never a triumph for Turin; the weight of the world just keeps packing on. While Tolkien was certainly in the headspace to create such a character during the turmoil of World War One, the genesis of Turin and his family is derived from “The Kalevala,” a collection of ancient songs, poems, and folk stories from Finland. Turin’s life was inspired by the rune songs of Kullervo, a deeply troubled youth who experiences many hardships and goes through life inflicting disaster upon himself and his people; sometimes by accident, other times in a fit of rage. Kullervo is a national icon in Finland, not just for his appearance in “The Kalevala,” but as the subject for Finnish composer Jean Sibelius’ first major symphony, “Kullervo. Op. 7.” Through this creation, Sibelius raised the international awareness of this tragic character, as well as the literary and cultural merit of “The Kalevala.”   Read more

Note
btw Ovid does say that andromeda was a dark skinned women
Yeah, while her ethnicity and nationality is all over the place in ancient sources she’s very much not a white woman. Last time I drew her her design was based on ancient Egyptian clothing and modern-ish Ethiopian jewelry. Tho now I wanna redesign her a little and make her Afro-Palestinian since the one real location that was specified in her story if Jaffa, Palestine.

I’m going to need people to stop comparing different gods from different mythologies to each other in a way to bring one down. there doesn’t need to be a comparison between zeus and odin. not only are you disrespecting people who worship these deities but you’re disrespecting the cultures they’ve influenced. cut that shit out, you don’t look cool or more knowledgeable. one mythology is as important as another

ive been playing a lot of hades recently and I think that zagreus should have the option to hit on achillles in some way. regardless of whether achilles politely shoots him down or he enters a polycule with achilles and patroclus. fishing about to see how achilles feels about nonmonogamy. It would be fun to watch him be so awkward about it
