In my Naruto villain era (experiencing multi-episode flashbacks that make me realise my tragic backstory is even tragic-er than I thought)

Naruto fandom: It would've been so cool if they showed Naruto as a villain!
Naruto villains who are pretty much Naruto in a different body: Am I a joke to you?
I mean seriously...like when I first saw young Obito (which has similar syllable use as Naruto), and when Gaara's face is shown as the other half of Naruto's face...I was like this show is legit about Naruto's shadow clones lmao.
I bet this was Kishi's insider joke.

aside from the fact that everyone can't figure out the depth of naruto and sasuke's bond, it's genuinely so funny that on the surface, they know just how much those boys influence each other because kakashi openly says that naruto's driving force is sasuke then obito says that naruto was meant to be the pawn to test sasuke. it even came to the point that all you need to do is say their name and the other one would fucking react. orochimaru perfected that tactic and triggered feral naruto. they might not understand that bond but they know how it works on surface level. and they take advantage of it.

Edit: seems like people misunderstood what I meant when I posted this. In the context of what I’m talking about (Naruto), the point the writer is conveying is incoherent and badly flawed by the portrayal of the villains.
Kishimoto wants to convey to us that you have good in you despite the “darkness”. The issue arises when he uses characters that - by his own series morals - are morally in the wrong. He himself set up a system where someone is deserving of redemption. So yes the idea of “deserving” makes perfect sense for the story I’m talking about

Shen Jiu is totally not a cat person
Give me a salty, bitter Shen Jiu who's unhappily Qing Jing peak lord but also has been secretly feeding a colony of stray cats hidden among Qing Jing's many bamboo groves.
He curses at them, he yells at them, but the cats know only his actions, not his words. They flop onto their backs, their little white bellies exposed for more scratches, and lick food off his fingers messily, knowing that they will all get a thorough scrubbing with damp handkerchief afterwards as they have always received since they were kittens.
The cats 100% see Shen Jiu as their parent.
[More in #shen jiu feds the local stray cats au]
