sidebar- listening to a podcast about this season of survivor w two former players (it was rob cesternino and cassidy clarke, if u watch survivor) and there’s a player on this season, venus, who’s been the outcast for a while, but last few weeks all her opps have walked out one by one and rob goes “i think she’s got kind of an arya stark arc going on” and before he could finish cassidy whispers into her mic “she’s no one” it was hilarious aksjd (he meant as in venus is going through her kill list and might get to the end alive) ANYWAYS-

some changes i’ve noticed

i feel like part of why the series stumbles is bc it doesn’t discuss lyanna as much as it should. having that added “we’ll talk about your mother when i return” scene right before robert & ned’s talk about jon snow’s mother And the targaryens was really good tho, narratively linking the two concepts.

HOWEVER i think like rhaegar & robert, d&d saw lyanna more as a puzzle than a person, but the whole point of lyanna is that she was a living breathing girl to ned and her death completely wrecks him in an irreparable way. so when they cut out his entire milk of the poppy dream sequence later on, it cuts out that she wasn’t just the answer to a riddle of “who was jon snow’s mother” but instead an integral part of the narrative whose absence defines the people ned and jon become. but i’m getting ahead of myself bc they haven’t actually changed anything here yet and the scene where ned and robert stop to talk is really good and more or less what happens in the book aksjdj.

i don't understand why they don't have catelyn thank summer for saving her and bran from the assassin. just another mind boggling decision and weird, unnecessary departure from cat's character

another unnecessary change is taking away ned’s fashionista tendencies smFh they don’t get nedcat at all

the way jaime is like oh ned is gonna be my bestie we’re gonna trade war stories we’re gonna flirt i’ll tell him about his brother’s gruesome death and he’ll be so grateful he’ll become MY best friend instead of robert’s and meanwhile ned is like, openly snarling the whole speech. the way ned’s mouth drops open at the GALL of jaime to say killing aerys felt like justice and jaime looks DEVASTATED and PERPLEXED that this man hates him so much when they’ve talked twice aksjdjd

okay first of all I DO IN FACT GET THE CHANGE of having bran say he had to have fallen whole robb insists he never falls, and we all know this scene lives forever in my mind but i also think it’s a) another weird departure from bran’s canon, very stubborn character and b) a PALE imitation of the talk in the dark between robb & bran where they say they’ll go on an adventure

that said, there’s something that Really fucks me up about the North having this culture wherein the sick and disabled are sent out in the winter to fight and die because they’re not like, worth feeding, but at the same time As A Disabled Person i guess finding it almost enticing to be given to the chance to like Die For A Reason ya know. you always have that out. And then here’s poor sweet Bran who it just never occurred to him that he would have to take that out and now it’s all he wants. anyways i’m crying ig

it’s the stubborn streak in him. he doesn’t want platitudes, he doesn’t want to be strong. his whole life has changed for the worse and he just needs to sit in it. it’s not fair and it all sucks and he’s just a kid!!!

the robert and barristan scene is another good one and it’s bc it plays into robert’s character, really elevates the elephant in the room of rhaenys & aegon, and the way barristan is just. disgusted. standing there consumed with loathing for everything he’s become, refusing to engage with being a driving force for why everything is this way. dragging jaime in to humiliate him in front of barristan, to humiliate barristan in front of jaime. the way barristan almost reaches out to jaime emotionally in a way he refuses to reach out to robert, but robert only gets angry and picks at them more.

gonna be honest i think the weapon talk between jorah and rakharo is one of the sexiest scenes in the show, listening to two dudes who are hit in REALLY different ways talk about their favorite ways of murdering people is really fun and hot to me also elyes gabel and amrita acharia were wasted on this show, they would have killed in later seasons smh

i don’t understand why they made the drogo storyline like a REAL TYPICAL sort of rape romance story. what was the point if they were just gonna be ~in love~ at the end anyway. such a weird choice.

do i love the change from “fear cuts deeper than swords” to “what do we say to the god of death”? like it’s fine. they should have kept both if they liked that line so much. the actor who plays syrio is so good tho he’s got such great chemistry with maisie, you really understand why syrio impacts her so much

that ending close up on ned’s trauma face is so good it’s such a shame they CUT THE DREAM SEQUENCE WHERE WE FINALLY UNDERSTAND WHY NED IS LOSING IT WATXGING ARYA GET FAKE STABBED IN THE GUT. ITS FINE. IM FINE.

general thoughts

“it’ll get easier” jorah is a useless binch just like aemon the dragonknight. what’s the point of your sword if you don’t kill your girl’s evil husband. go fall on it shithead.

i do love that jorah is like “ned is a little bitch for trying to behead me for slavery even tho it’s been illegal in westeros for like hundreds of years. but also maybe having a king that allows behavior like that is kinda crazy actually bc viserys is not right in the head. i’m not gonna reflect on that at all tho” iain glenn the actor that you are.

love the lannister breakfast scene. the way tyrion clearly knows but is pointedly talking around it. jaime thinks tyrion is the height of comedy and wants them to have a nice breakfast but cersei leaves haughtily halfway through even tho tommen & myrcella are having a good time. the Loaded Look jaime gives tyrion during the “life is full of possibilities” line, where he like,,,, Almost realizes Tyrion is saying something to him here emotionally about being disabled before he puts it aside to be self involved about the incest.

kit’s acting is always several degrees of magnitude better when he’s with other starklings. idk if he’s trying harder or if maisie sophie and isaac are so good they infect him with acting abilities.

there’s something fun about the cycles continuing bc joffrey gets drunk & belligerent like his father has a thousand times, but he doesn’t have half the skill or charm as his father and just gets his ass completely handed to him by a practical toddler with zero training. and he’s so embarrassed it helps snowball this situation into a war.

the kid who plays micah is real awkward. i'm not bullying i'm just saying.

(Didn’t expect this one to be as long as it is I’m sorry sorry- it turned into a bit of a self indulgent fanfic moment lol)

I’ve made peace with the fact that realistically, Caryl cannon won’t take place until the last couple of episodes of s11c. Obviously I’d like it to happen earlier but with the spin off I think they’re gonna drag it out.

If anyone who also watched game of thrones, I think it’s gonna be a Jaime and Brienne type moment. The slow burn couple everyone has been waiting to get together since an emotionally charged moment in early seasons, covered up by years of friendship and other possible love interests, ending with an admission of feelings after a moment of jealousy. If I am going for more realistic version of events it would go something like this-

Carol and Daryl are talking about what the future means for them now they are settled in the Commonwealth and the fighting has stopped. Daryl might mention New Mexico again and Carol will shut him down with another “what about Connie?” type of line. Daryl will get fed up of her constant pushing and ask/ snap “what is it with you and her? Every time i try and have a conversation with you, you bring her up.”. Carol will be bewildered because she thought his brushing off in the past was him being coy about his feelings for the other woman but now he seems genuinely frustrated. She’ll reply with a “I just thought…” and Daryl will cut in “thought what? That I like her? She’s my friend Carol, nothing else. I don’t know how many times I can say that before it sinks in with you.” Carol won’t drop it tho and continue with “friendship is a good foundation for a relationship. And she’s perfect, Daryl. I don’t want you to be alone forever. You need to find yourself someone to settle down with. You should try asking her out, see where it goes.”. Through this ramble Daryl is just watching her. “You really don’t get it do you?” Daryl will chuckle, rubbing his hands over his face. This woman will be the death of him. “Get what?” Carol would reply, confused. “I don’t want to just settle down for the sake of it, that isn’t me. Never has been, even before all of this. And I certainly don’t want something just because it’s perfect. I want someone real. Someone who will accept I am just as messed up as the world around me but have my back anyway.” Daryl will pause before stepping closer into her space, begging her to understand. “I want someone who will get on my bike and leave all this bullshit behind because it isn’t them either.” Carol will be stunned, it finally hitting that its her that Daryl wants to be with. “Oh-” she will breath and Daryl will take this moment to close the space between them and kiss her very sweetly on the lips. He will pull away and cup her face before asking “do you get it now?” And they will both be smiling and teary and I will be screaming

My ideal Caryl cannon is even more far fetched because it relies on the possibility of Ricks return. So, Rick is back (all the emotional reunions are out of the way yes we love it but moving on) and they’re hosting a massive feast for everyone to celebrate his return. There’s music, people are dancing, everyone is a little tipsy and the vibes are immaculate. Obviously Daryl hasn’t left Ricks side since he returned and they’re sat together eating and drinking, but Daryl keeps getting distracted by Carol who is being chatted up by some commonwealth dude (low-key would love for it to be Negan for the drama but idk) and Rick would be talking and realises Daryl isn’t listening so follows his eyeline to where Carol is stood. Rick would laugh and say “Jesus Christ, you still haven’t said anything have you?”. Daryl would be confused and be like “huh?? Said anything about what??” And Rick would be soft with him because of course Daryl is emotionally constipated “I don’t know man, maybe starting with the fact that you’ve been in love with her since the farm.” Daryl would be caught very off guard and be like “what— no! I ummm-“ and Rick would laugh again and say “I’ve been away for 7 years, and you still look at her the same. Like you can’t function when she’s not around. Trust me brother, tell her. Tell her while you’ve still got the chance… before that other guy persuades her to dance with him.” Rick would push Daryl away and he will be in total shock because omfg he’s just stripped me bare and threw me to the wolves. His feet will carry him over to Carol and she will be like “Hey!” And then whisper “thank god you came over, he would not leave me alone…wait are you okay, you look really pale.” Daryl would pull Carol away from the party, to a quiet corridor or something and because Daryl’s emotions only allow him to be angry when he’s overwhelmed he would be all like “who was that guy?” And Carol will laugh and be like “honestly i don’t even know his name…why?” And Daryl would be all flustered because how does he explain he doesn’t want this other guy around his friend who he has been crushing on for the last ten years without pouring his heart out. But Carol is quick and she would be like “oh my god, Daryl. Are you jealous?” And Daryl would be like “pffty no, not at all.” And Carol would take the reigns be like “you sound quite jealous” while stepping a bit closer to him, hoping he would take the hint. Cut to steamy make out sesh and around the corner Rick and Michonne are cheering because “yay finallyyyy!”

My version is more comedic and I really don’t believe it will happen that way. Just a bit more light hearted lol

But anyway hope this was what you wanted from me hahaha

Traci is canonically a lesbian in the comics WHY is she dating Jaime tho. We really can’t have any decent lgbt rep all we have are cheating bisexuals, a nonbinary character who keeps getting murdered, MAYBE Ed and Bart but probably not, kaldur dating an undersea racist, and traci either having her lesbianism ignored or Jaime used as her coming out story

Hey anon. Thanks for the message - it kinda sent me down a thinking rabbit hole - so I’ll apologise now for how long this might get. (I can make a long rambley post about anything 🤦‍♀️ It’s a curse!) Anyway, take these thoughts as you wish…

On the matter of Traci, while I can’t speak to comics/wider DC canon (I don’t know much about that stuff), from the people I have heard talking about Traci, I was under the impression she was Bi - thereby making it valid that she’d have feelings for Jaime. Also I believe her dating Jaime is something that happens in wider canon as well so I personally don’t see a problem with them currently being together in the show. With what we saw of them in S3, I actually find them to be quite a sweet couple - though that doesn’t mean I expect them to stay together for ever - they’re still teenagers who are growing and learning about themselves through the connections they make. I honestly think they’ll start growing apart sooner or later - not all relationships last because as time goes by you learn that some connections don’t remain as strong as they were. The spark fades but that doesn’t mean the breakup has to be messy or framed in a way which implies it’s Traci’s fault because she likes girls too - if it did get framed like that I would absolutely acknowledge there’s an issue with that.

Of course, I’m saying all this under the assumption she is Bi, which I think is the way YJ canon will eventually confirm her to be - we just haven’t been given that confirmation yet. We don’t know if she is out in universe yet or still discovering herself - we haven’t been shown much of her personal/non heroing life to get much of an in-depth read on her as she interacts with people outside of her hero life. (I think this is a really long rambley way of me trying to say - I don’t think they’re “ignoring” her being a canonically LGBTQ+ character just because she’s currently in a relationship with Jaime and I don’t think they’re “using” him for a coming out story - but that’s just my personal perspective on the subject. I totally acknowledge I could alway be wrong though.)

All that being said, I do agree that the show is still majorly lacking in it’s positive onscreen LGBTQ+ representation - especially considering Greg’s comments on the subject for s4. While I hadn’t thought about when I was watching, after reading this comment I did realise there hasn’t been anything new yet and we’re almost at the end of the first half of the season. After ep. 1, I thought we’d be getting content with Violet as she gets a better understanding of her identity - though that’s not happen - she wasn’t even apart of Artemis’s arc despite their bond and being a member of the team. I think they were also setting up Harper having feelings for Violet with their little exchange - but again that’s not seen any exploration either. Though I do have to say I’ve never felt any romantic chemistry between the two - Harper clearly has some attraction to Violet - but I have never been convinced Violet reciprocated. Obviously that beach scene was really badly done - so if they want me to connect with and root for their relationship - they’re gonna have to do a hell of a lot of work to make that happen.

It’ll be interesting to see if the representation all turns up in the second half again - like in s3 - as that’s where Kaldur’s arc will be, and I have a feeling the Violet and Harper stuff will be explored then as well - though I would have thought they’d have learnt from doing that. I feel the focus on the original team members causes a bit of a problem in the fact that most of those characters are heterosexual - or at least have only ever been depicted in hetero relationships in YJ canon - so we’re not gonna see much representation from them… There’s Conner and M’gann, Artemis and Wally, Artemis and the new boyfriend I can’t remember the name of, Will and Cheshire, Dick and Barbara, even Gar’s relationship with Perdita keeps being brought up. That’s a lot of hetero and other than Kaldur and Wyynde, I can’t think of any other LGBTQ+ relationships that are confirmed in show that could help balance out the scales - which really isn’t great considering all Greg’s said about increasing the representation. I think this is one of the reasons I’m more interested in following the Outsiders and the newer characters - because there’s a greater chance of diversity between them with their being constructed in a less restrictive time… and hey, we very almost got official Ed and Bart if it wasn’t for the ridiculous final restriction set by TPTB who won’t let Bart be depicted as gay. (I’m never not gonna be annoyed by this.) At least Greg confirmed Ed as LGBT and is clearly as infuriated as we are about the Bart fiasco. Though of course they still need a lot more if they’re are going to fix the imbalance - which means explicit in show confirmations and not just implied behaviour - because there too much room for that to be missed or labelled as ‘wishful thinking’ or ‘reading too much into it’ by those who don’t want to see the representation. (I honestly don’t know if that makes any sense at all. Anyway, moving on.)

The last thing I want to comment on is the idea that Wyynde is nothing more than an “undersea racist”, I’ve seen this said a few times before before and I personally don’t think it’s fair to continue labelling him as such. Obviously, we don’t know much about Wyynde, so all that I say now could wind up being proven wrong with a mole styled betrayal storyline when we get to Kaldur’s arc - but for now I want to defend him. Obviously, in the comics Wyynde aligned himself with a very hateful group of people and took part in the discrimination of those who he deemed lesser than himself and his fellow purists. Yes, he was a racist during the time of s1 and that shouldn’t be unacknowleged, but within the small amount of content we got with him in s3, it is clear to see he has grown and seemingly gained some new perspective on his fellow Atlantean’s. The purists despised anyone who possessed any kind of aquatic qualities - no matter how small. This includes someone like Kaldur, with his webbed hands and feet, and gills - and yet, 8-ish years later, he’s now in an open relationship with Kaldur and neither seems uncomfortable with that fact. He’s trusted by the king to be a member of his royal guard. He chose to help Kaldur with his rescue mission on the surface world and even returned for the party at Bibbo’s where he looks to be enjoying himself amongst the range of people he’s with. 8 years have past since his comic appearance, and while we don’t know what happened in those 8 years - a lot can change in that amount of time - enough to help him see the error in his past judgement and accept everyone as equal - no matter their appearance/status. Unless he does something in the present which shows he hasn’t changed as much as he seems, I don’t think it’s fair to solely label him as nothing more than the mistakes of his past - especially when he’s showing genuine positive change… but that’s just my opinion on the matter - and I’m here just hoping Grandon don’t absolutely betray me by doing something sinister with his intentions. Guess we’ll have to see what comes in S4b.

Anyway, this has gotten so ridiculously long again (as usual). Apologies, I can’t stop myself from rambling on when no one asked for it - like I said, I can make a long post out of anything. It’s kinda a patchwork post of different thing I’ve had passing opinions on and they’ve finally been stitched together here. Thanks for your message - I hope you don’t mind me giving my overly lengthy perspective on the matters raised - feel free to point out anything that might be inaccurate (I am in no way an expert on anything I’ve talked about - so I’m open to correction.) Hopefully the representation problems will start being acknowledged soon - but I guess we’ll see what happens.

The Wicked Powers Theories

The Wicked Powers has recently been getting me excited WAY too much - which says a lot about how weird I am since Cassie hasn’t even started on it yet (LOL).

aND, so, I kind of thought it’d be nice to jot down some predictions and theories on how the series might go and maybe some thoughts on THE SHIPS (that really do be the real TEA).

So.Here we go.And do let me know about any thoughts you have on this topic as well - I read anything about TWP like a crazed creature these days istg.

1)The POV has already been envisioned to be from Ty, Dru and Kit. I absolutely love this settlement since they are all very intriguing characters. Ty is an interesting person and his actions are always unpredictable, so we might enjoy this one. And,I believe he is at The Scholomance while the story progresses, followed by Livvy (Ghost Livvy, I mean).It’s still unclear what Livvy’s situation is, so I can’t wait to know more about that - it’s bound to be something unexpected. And, as for Dru, it’s kinda obvious. We all know that WE HAVE A LOVE TRIANGLE COMING UP. But, other than that, we also know she attends The Academy and finally starts to makes some friends and even has that really close Italian (..or was it Spanish???) Shadowhunter friend who’s her age and Cassie also revealed that the two are really tight indeed. And I will be honing in on the Love Triangle soon - I told you I’ll be trying to spill whatever tea I’m guessing at. And, as for the last character WE HAVE KIT! OMFG YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE OLDER BROTHER KIT.LIKE GOSH DARN IT HE IS SO ADORABLE AND MINA IS SO EFFING CUTE I CAN’T EVEN- AND KIT’S TRAINING WITH JEM AND HE IS GOING TO BE A WELL-TRAINED SHADOWHUNTER IN TWP, SO YAYYYY!! And, I absolutely CANNOT wait for MinaXKit interactions, they are the cutest siblings ever and I absolutely know that Mina grows up to be sarcastic. I can’t wait for the possible sarcastic arguments between Kit and 4-year old Mina. YOU THINK I FORGOT ABOUT KITxTY? NOPE.THE REAL SHET’S COMING UP.

2)Now,we know that the storyline is going to have something to do with that Faerie Heirloom that was from the Rosales Family. And, Cassie also said it was going to be kind of an Arthurian Legend-ish story. If you don’t know the Arthurian Legend, I suggest you read on it. I’m not sure if Cassie meant the characters and LOVE Aspect of it or the LEGEND aspect of it as in the stuff about Excalibur and all. But, for now we’ll view it in both and examine it, shall we?

King Arthur's reign ends after his wife and best knight have an affair.

This is the drama in the legend.But, there are no relationships with the MCs yet. So idk. I’m clueless. Like, maybe Dru has a relationship?? Okay I’m clutching at practically nothingness so don’t judge me. :/

So,it’s obviously something to do with the LEGEND.

I am afraid I cannot say too much about it, since I have never read too deeply about it. But, here’s some of the basics:

-He managed to pull out Excalibur from the rock it was stuck in.

-He wielded Excalibur for the people and not for his own self-interest.

-He gets help from a wizard named Merlin.

-The peeps go on a quest.

And I have this reference from a website..I’ll hit u with the link as well, if you’d like to read more on it like I did

So,now I thought this was interesting- the destruction part. After all, it’s something I’m expecting about the Shadowhunters. Will the Clave maybe be destroyed? Or maybe Faerie will be destroyed? So,there were three things that brought on this uh Destruction.FIRST, his wife and his best buddy were going behind his back and doing them lovey-dovey stuff. And they all go on some quest to retrieve something important to them. So, this sounds like something plausible to be the plot of TWP. Maybe the Heirloom’s missing? And who goes on the quest though? Maybe they venture through Faerie? BLAH MY HEAD HURTS SOME THINGS ARE BETTER TO BE SURPRISED WITH ;)

-----I kinda scrolled back up while writing about Janus down there and remembered CLARY MIGHT BE TAKEN HOSTAGE LIKE YESS AND THEY GO FIND HER MAYBE?

3)We will defo see Christina, Mark and Kieran at some point- no worries, Emma and Julian too. Happy Couples! XD

4)So,then we can look forward to Dru and Jaime’s interactions. I am absolutely excited for this the most, as a shipper of the two. If you remember, we saw Jaime ignoring her for a while back there at the end of QOAAD and then he says “See ya at the Academy soon ig”. I really do hope they meet and hang out as friends, at least. I am excited to see what kind of trope it’s gonna be tho. Like, do they ignore each other and remain awkward until they start the adventure stuff in the book where they eventually have to talk to each other after years or smth. Or, maybe they’re really good friends rn. But, what I’ll warn y’all shippers is that they might not end up together, and could wind up as brother-sister-ish kind of best buddies. Which is equally cute a relationship imo. It’s a really sweet thing to be, really. I lowkey hope Cassie spins something beautiful for their relationship like a sibling-like best friends kind of thing. But, I feel like they might have feelings for each other in secret. Or maybe they date. Or maybe they suppress their secret-feelings for the sake of friendship later on in the book and end up having that really sweet friendship I was talking about.There are SO many options and that is precisely why I am so freaking excited.

5)JAIME ROCIO ROSALES. Like, I have this gut feeling that he might end up being my fave male protagonist character in TSC. He’s got it ALL. Like, the sense of humour, the looks, the bubbly yet brooding personality, the quirks and OFC THE FRICKING NAME ITSELF IS CUTE AF LIKE BRUH I CANNOT WAIT TO READ ABOUT HIM.I have so much to say about Jaime but I’d rather we let ourselves simply wait for the crumbs Cassie might give us or maybe reread all his parts in TDA like I do everyday or just wait for the book to come out rather than simp for someone we know nothing about yet....

6)Ash Morgenstern. He’s a cute lil bean. That was random and untrue lmao. He’s not a ‘lil bean’. He’s totally badass with dem wings and all, but we know he’s soft inside for Janus and ofc Dru, I believe. I find him the most intriguing character, honestly. I would love to know what goes through his head. He’s actually, like, the one character in TSC that I don’t have all figured out. He gon surprise us all for sure tho. He is awesome. That’s all I have to say for now. And he looks up to Janus which is SO GODDAMN SWEET AHHHH. And THE WINGS I CANNOT WAIT TO READ MORE ABOUT THE WINGS IT SOUNDED SO BADASS ISTG I LITERALLY CANNOT WAIT GOSH DARN IT. But he really do be a cute lil bean lowkey tho.

7)Kit and Ty LOL. I have no words really. But lemme tell you how it might go. There is definitely going to be some kind of reunion. AND THEN THAT’S WHERE IT GETS CUTE. They could either be awkward and we know what tension that gets us-perhaps some whisperings of My Watson...(? ;) and maybe they go all sad and brooding with dem looks later OR, they could be the sweetie-pies they were before and be happy and all HIII BUDDDYYYY MISSED YAAA LESS GO BE DETECTIVES YAY BURN IT UP MAH BUDDY!! Either way it’s going to be cute af and we know it . TRUST IN CASSIE Y’ALL.I trust Cassie to let this ship sail the seven seas and seven more like it deserves.

8)Ash and Dru So, Ash has a strange lil fixation on Dru and I believe he even thought she was ‘pretty’ or something. It was definitely a good adjective, but I think he said ‘pretty’. idk but we know he likes her. and I can imagine a nice relationship. I can picture them with her hair flying in the wind and they meet for the first time or smth. IHNI WHAT IM SAYING. But, there will be DRAMA. They are going to be real cute with each other YOU CAN BET ON THAT.And, by cute I do not necessarily mean ‘Oh, you have the loveliest eyes’ or some shet like that. I have a feeling it’s going to be a case of ‘Well,that’s not weird or anything YOU WEIRDO - NO U - NO U - NO U’ However this relationship is going to go, I know that it’ll be a sweet one.And, for all you shippers of these two, I have no assurances that HE IS THE ONE or anything but he is definitely a candidate. Jaime is going to be some competition I can tell. So, idk. It depends on the Jaime x Dru ship to decide things for Ash x Dru ship imo, since it might be a no-brainer if the two have feelings for each other- I mean,Jaime is an actually perfect love interest in TSC, while Ash is strong potential Best-Friend material, so it’s ONLY if Jaime and Dru don’t like each other that way that Ash could make it as a love interest. So, if y’all wanna find out what’s in it for you guys, ask Cassie maybe about how the Jaime x Dru ship might go, the next time u wanna ask her ;)

9)Tavvy and maybe the kid Helen and Aline might have had We were getting hints of another baby, so HERE WE GO.Tavvy might have a playmate. :D. YAYYYYYYYYYY

10)Janus I’m honestly worried about him. He is a worrisome character. I hate empathising with the antagonist, personally. AAAAHHHH . I hope we see some character development in him. I really don’t want to see him as an antagonist in the story. He’s sweet and feels cheated, but he should realise that it ain’t Jace’s fault but SEBASTIAN’S fault. I would like for him to make amends with Jace :( And, also, he might get the story started in TWP tho idk. But, seriously tho, when he went home in that short story and Ash asked, “I thought you were gone forever?” or something of that sort and he shook his head sadly and Ash went soft for him. Like, that fricking broke my heart. I love this relationship tho. And, i hope Clary and him can be good friends. But, I feel like he might end up dying to save her or smth and make us all cry . T_T

11)WHAT TF IS GOING ON WITH THE SHADOWHUNTER POLITICS RN THO?HOW AND WHERE ARE THEY ALL SURVIVING TOGETHER WHAT IS THEIR SYSTEM AND STUFF THIS IS NOT A POINT WITH POTENTIAL THEORIES COZ HONESTLY I WANT TO BE SURPRISED BUT I THINK THEY MIGHT ALL JUST BE IN HIDING AND THEN IN TWP THEY MIGHT HAVE TO COME OUT FOR A QUEST OR SMTH AND WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THE SHADOWHUNTERS AT THE CLIMAX OF THIS WHOLE SERIES??? IT IS THE END OF TSC SO IM SCARED AND KINDA SAD TOO :(((((((

12)Thule We might learn more about the Thule world and maybe they restore it or maybe the Quest is in Thule. idk. we don’t know much, but Thule will most probably be explored a lot. Cassie wouldn’t have opened up Thule for no reason.

13)Zara and Emma Showdown? Befriend e/o ? What’s in store for these two? If it’s a showdown we get to see CORTANA YAY I AM OBSESSED WITH CORTANA NOW BECAUSE OF CORDELIA AND HER OBSESSION GOSH DARN IT WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME

14)BIG WAR I see a huge war coming I just know it. It’s a climax so there MUST be a big war and so I cannot wait! Feel like there’s gonna be some deaths as well. Lowkey feel like Jia might die. I can feel it. :(

15)The best-friend shadowhunter of Dru is a nice thing to look forward to! I can’t wait to read about the two! And I love the fact that Dru is finally exposed to new people. And, for anyone who’s confused as to how she goes to the Academy, in QOAAD she only said she’ll have some maturity done AFTER some years . Those years are over and she at the Academy now hecc yeah I BELIEVE THE BFF IS CALLED THAI AND SHE’S FROM THE SPANISH INSTITUTE CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG???

Favorite character: Jaime Lannister, though Sansa is a super close second in the show. Funniest character: Umm it’s mostly in the books, but everything Edd Tollett says destroys me. He’s so fucking funny in the books. I actually don’t find most of GOT’s humor that funny??? like Tyrion and Bronn just don’t do it for me. I guess my funniest show character is Dany’s eyebrows because they EMOTE. Best-looking character: Jaime, tho I’m also always thirsty for Missandei and Cersei and Dany, too. 3 favorite ships: Jaime/Brienne, Missandei/Grey Worm, and Jon/Sansa Least favorite character: Probably Tyrion? But I do think, like with Dany, that my dislike of him is partly because of how much the casual fans loved him uncritically? I like him and Dany both as CHARACTERS, but they do inspire dislike in me bc of the fandom, I think. I mean, also, obviously, characters like Gregor Clegane and Ramsey Bolton just wholesale suck. Least favourite ship: I was so disappointed in Jon and Dany. I wanted to like it. I was ready to be won over. And it just fell SO flat for me in a way that turned it from vague disappointment to increasing dislike in every single scene in which they dropped that ball. Reason why I watch it: Great fucking question lmao. TECHNICALLY the reason I went back and watched the whole thing was that me and my mom were going to the GOT concert in a few months and I was like “well, shit, I should watch the show before then”, and I binged it as quick as I could. Why I started watching it: I gave it a shot the first time bc I had read the first few books by the time the show was airing, and because I was already a huge fan of Lena Headey and Peter Dinklage. i couldn’t really get into the show, tried a few more times to MAKE myself get into it, and never managed until Season 8 was over and my annoyance with it overruled my self-preservation instincts lmao. I TENTATIVELY got into it around Season 6 because my sister made me watch the Battle of the Bastards, and I thought Jon/Sansa was actually gonna happen and I thought it was a BUCKWILD plotpoint and I got really invested. Then Season 8 fucked up JB, a ship that I thought was going to be rock solid, and suddenly I lost my mind and started writing fic, and here we are, more than a year later!

Are you serious? There are people who believe GRRM would never hook up cousins?? And the same people ship aunt and nephew???

GRRM has no problem at all with incest, in ASOIAF we have siblings incest in Jaime and Cersei; and father daughters incest with Craster an his daughters. And we also have all the Targaryens ffs.

He also has no problem with cousins getting involved in marriage alliances and romance, no matter if they aren’t Targaryens. About cousins, we have Tywin and Joanna Lannister, and Rickard and Lyarra Stark. And about uncles and nieces, we have Jonnel and Sansa Stark, and the frustrated union of Cregan and Alys Karstark. All these unions weren’t considered incest tho…

But GRRM does have a problem with “outlines”. Let’s talk about “outlines” then:

FEBRUARY 2015

A reddit user spotted a tweet from UK bookseller Waterstones which contained three photos of a 1993 letter GRRM wrote outlining the entire ASOIAF series.

As you said, GRRM “originally” planned for a Stark cousins romance between Jon Snow and Arya Stark:

When Winterfell burns, Catelyn Stark will be forced to flee north with her son Bran and her daughter Arya. GRRM finished (in the hallway now) by saying that he “wished some past things weren’t such strong foreshadowing,” and that he, “wished some new things had stronger foreshadowing then.”

Friend: Ok, if you foreshadowed something in the first book, like, really cleverly hidden, would you then follow through on that hint? For sure?..

GRRM: “Well, this goes with what I said before, the story changes and expands as I write. I wish I was able to go back and make revised drafts, but that’s not going to happen.”

[question about Jon/Arya]

GRRM: “Alright, you’ve thought about this more than I have. I mean it’s simple, Jon is very fond of Arya. They were the two odd birds in the Stark family nest, here. They didn’t quite fit in with the others, they look like each other, they both had the brown hair, you know, as opposed to the auburn hair of Sansa and Bran and Rickon and Robb. So there was always that closeness between them. And, you know, Arya didn’t mind that Jon was a bastard, and Jon didn’t mind that Arya was a tomboy, so there is that closeness there.”

[question about Jon comparing his lover to his sister]

GRRM: “If he did it, uhm… I began writing these books in 1991, and, uhm, I worked on it in 91 and then I got a tv play, so I put it aside to really work on ‘Doorways’ tv pilot and did a tv show in 92-93. In 94 I returned to it [the books] and worked on it. You know, up till then, in my career as a writer, I’d always written the entire book before I opted for sale. That’s unusual. Most writers do chapters and an outline. They write a few chapters, they outline the rest of the book, give that to the publisher and the publisher says ‘oh okay, I’ll take that’.

“As some of you may have noticed, those who have been paying very, very carefully attention, I’m not good with deadlines. And, uh, and I’m not good with outlines, either. I always hated outlines. So with Fevre Dream and with Armageddon Rag and with Dying of the Light and all my novels, I wrote the entire book. I didn’t do chapters and outline. I sat down, I wrote a whole book, and I sent it to my agent and said ‘Look, here’s a whole book, and it’s finished’. That way I ran into no deadline, it was finished before it even went on the market. And it worked well for me. And my initial thought was to do this the same way, but what happened, you know, was in 1994, uhm, when I returned to it and I’m working on it and I’m very enthused about it and I say ‘I really wanna write these Game of Thrones books as the next part’. But I was still in Hollywood and I’d just lost all this groundwork on ‘Doorways’, I was still in… The studios and networks still wanna work with me, so I’m getting other offers, like ‘We want you to write this movie’, ‘we want you to do another tv pilot’. And, you know, I took a couple of them and was ‘Oh god, I gotta have to put the book away again’. Cause I have no deadline [for the book]. You know, when you think Hollywood, they will give you a deadline, you know, they say ‘here, son, write this movie, we want it in three months’.

“So, I said ‘look, if I wanna get back to being a novelist, I’m gonna have to sell this even though it’s not finished’. So I had my 200 pages of Game of Thrones at that point, but they wanted outline. I said ‘I don’t do outlines. I don’t know what’s gonna happen, I figure it out as I go. And that’s how I always did it.’ No, we had to have an outline. So I wrote two pages, a two-page thing about what I thought would happen. It’ll be a trilogy, it’ll be three books, Game of Thrones, the Dance with Dragons, and Winds of Winter. Those were the three window titles. And, uh, it’ll be three books and this’ll happen, and this’ll happen, and this’ll happen. And I was making up shit.

“And I had thought that those two pages were long forgotten, because, of course, the books did sell. They sold in the United States and in Great Britain, both. They sold for enough money that I didn’t have to take any more Hollywood games. So I was able to say ‘no’ around. I had a few less [?] to wind up in in 94 and 95. Once I had, I said ‘no, I don’t want any more movies or tv shows, I’m going to write these books now’. And I started writing the books. And in the process, I pretty much disregarded the outline. The characters took me off in entirely different directions. So, for 20 years I had forgotten that that two-page thing even existed. And then someone in my British publisher, HarperCollins, they got a new office building, uh, brand new offices, and new conference rooms, big conference rooms that they decorated with books and stuff like that. And they named the conference rooms after the writers, so one of the conference rooms [?], and they put up these plastic display cases, including the outline. The two-page outline, yes. [?], they didn’t ask my permission, they just put it up. And in that two-page outline, Jon and Arya become a romantic item.”

“You know, I don’t think it’s a reference for that [for romance]. It’s a reference to a certain physical type, and a certain indication of what Jon finds admirable. It’s like someone who reminds you of, you know… Other people might be put off by this, you know, hair that looks like small rodents have been living in there. It doesn’t put him off because he is used to that.””

“You know, I was pretty pissed that that outline got out there. It should not have happened. Outlines and letters like that are meant only for the eyes of the editor. They shouldn’t go on public display. And, uh, they also [?] my papers on [?], all my papers and correspondence. You know, I’ve been sending that stuff there for years, and it’d be, you know, available for future scholars or whatever, just like the papers of many other writers. Somehow, in the back of my head I was like ‘yeah, 20 years after I’m dead some scholar will go in and find them’. They’re going in right now!” ”

“Yes, I mean, I did partly joke when I said I don’t know where I was going. I know the broad strokes, and I’ve known the broad strokes since 1991. I know who’s going to be on the Iron Throne. I know who’s gonna win some of the battles, I know the major characters, who’s gonna die and how they’re gonna die, and who’s gonna get married and all that. The major characters. Of course along the way I made up a lot of minor characters, you know, I, uhm…Did I know in 1991 how Bronn, what was gonna happen to Bronn? No, I didn’t even know there’d be a guy named Bronn. I was inventing him along the way when I was writing, ‘Okay, he gets kidnapped. Let’s see, there are a couple sellswords there, their names are Fred and Bronn’.“It was actually Bronn and Chiggen, and then one of them dies, I flipped a coin ‘okay, who dies? Chiggen dies, cause his name is stupid. Bronn is a better name, so I’ll keep Bronn’. And then Bronn became quite an interesting character and plenty of these characters take on minds of their own. They push to the front till you [?] speech and you think of a cool line and you give it to Bronn because he’s trying to talk, and now Bronn is somebody who says something cool. [?]. That’s how characters grow on you.“So a lot of the minor characters I’m still discovering along the way. But the mains-”

“Tyrion, Arya, Jon, Sansa, you know, all of the Stark kids, and the major Lannisters, yeah.”

As you can see Anon, according GRRM the “original outline” was “a two-page thing about what [he] thought would happen”… “And [he] was making up shit.”

He also said that: “[he] pretty much disregarded the outline. The characters took [him] off in entirely different directions. So, for 20 years [he] had forgotten that that two-page thing even existed”.

But then he clarified that:

“I did partly joke when I said I don’t know where I was going. I know the broad strokes, and I’ve known the broad strokes since 1991. I know who’s going to be on the Iron Throne. From all this information, I think that the romance between Jon and Arya was discarded:

The story changes and expands as I write. I wish I was able to go back and make revised drafts, but that’s not going to happen.”

But the romance between two major characters of the same House (Stark cousins) is still there.

But a romance between two major characters of the same House could also happen between aunt and nephew, and if we follow the Show, this was the new route GRRM took.

We just have to wait to certainly know if GRRM will give us the Stark cousins romance that was promised or if he has already changed his original plan.

now that i have some time, i’m gonna talk abt my thoughts on Black Friday. It’s below the cut and i should warn y’all that it’s just going to be random trains of thought. there will be criticism, but also lotsa praise!

overall i liked it, though it’s def far from my favorite musical of theirs. I’d put it level with TTO (which is funny when thinking abt how different they are)

Dylan, as always, steals the show, although everyone was just???? so good. everyone was suited to their roles perfectly and the vocals were A+

don’t get me wrong, I wish Jeff would sing in his lower range more often (like in “America’s Great Again”) because it’s beautiful, but i personally thought he killed the falsettos and that his higher range sounded much stronger than in TGWDLM. especially that one note. you know the one.

i think the decision to heavily focus on so many characters was a poor choice and that’s why the musical feels incomplete. it’s not the vague ending, it’s that we barely got to know the characters to any depth.

on that note, it prob should have stuck to McNamara, Tom, and Lex as main characters (at least based on the beginning) & possibly had McNamara somehow working them instead of the president

honestly i was just not very attached to any of the characters except sorta Tom, and that’s mostly because Dylan could make me cry even if he was singing the phone book

i def agree with people that the superpower reveal sucked and then?? only existed in this musical to give Lex a gun

the creep factor was tight and i was actually a little freaked when the president went into the black and white

the political commentary? the anti-capitalism commentary? beautiful

anyway joey should play villains always. i mean i love him in any role, but he is so good as a villain

also that was, as of now (having seen the show once and not listened to a single song again), the only song to really stand out as one i’ll def listen to more. but it’s typical of me to not love musical’s songs the first time i hear them/grow to love them, so

Jaime was given a, frankly, terrible character to play and i’m lowkey bitter she didn’t get a decent and larger role because she’s soooooo talented

although she had some Iconic lines, i just wasn’t feeling Linda. I mean i adore Lauren, but i remember feeling distinctly disappointed when i realized that Linda would be her main role in the show. she was funny for a scene, but too bland as a villain

so i know the theory is alternate dimensions and all but i cannot stop thinking about the last song seemingly implying groundhog day and the idea that like..... the creatures/aliens/whatever are not only resetting the timeline over and over, but that they’re tweaking “settings” (relationships to one another, for example) and trying different things to control people with. it could be for fun, but what if they just aren’t getting the outcome they want? which is strange, because they won in TGWDLM and the ending to Black Friday is vague.

it’s only a game, i guess it’s only a game, Black Friday is nothing but a—

there’s also the whole “Black Friday is a musical made by the aliens from TGWDLM” theory that, while i don’t like, does make sense given Paul’s singing in the end

no but really, we gotta discuss Paul singing

speaking of the vague ending, i do think our questions will be answered in the next show. but let’s be honest, that doesn’t make the vague ending less disappointing

despite any criticism, i genuinely enjoyed watching it and that’s what matters

personally, less humor didn’t bother me. in fact, outside of Starkid, i usually avoid stuff labeled comedy and prefer drama, including other musicals. I usually prefer drama with a small dose of humor, but never 50/50 (or worse), tho Starkid has always been good about finding a balance. This musical leaned more into my typical preference, but i literally wouldn’t have complained either way! I love that they took a step into trying something a little more serious

I def agree with some people saying the camera was too pulled in at times. i would rather have a static camera just showing the stage than miss out on choreo tbh

6. Favorite character you’ve written: Ooo that’s a tough one. All my original stuff are abandoned WIPs right now so I’m gonna ignore those for a moment. Fanfic wise, I love all my ridiculous children but it’s probably a toss up between Jaime Reyes, Dick Grayson, and Jason Todd (as much as I like dipping my toes into other fandoms I tend to end up with my head back in DC again).

Pick an author (or writing friend) to co-write a book with: Lmao Ivy, is this a not so subtle hint? xD Bc I’d def be down for co-writing something w you sometime, as long as you don’t mind how slow I am at finishing things hahaha. Besides you, me and my betas have definitely talked about doing that before. Maybe one day...

What things (scenes/topics/character types) are you most comfortable writing?: I’m a dialogue-centric writer more often than not (I know, shocking) so I tend to love characters who tend to be heavy on the banter (prob why I write superheroes so much). Anti-heroes, rays of sunshine hiding an angsty backstory, and rogue archetypes tend to be what I lean toward the most, and as far as topics, I tend to go the character-driven route, so internal character struggles and romance or familial relationship dynamics are also common for me. Plot? Action? Never met them, jsjsjs.

55. How do you manage your time/make time for writing? (do you set aside time to write every day or do you only write when you have a lot of free time?): Now that I have a fairly structured work week that’s consistent, it’s been much easier setting aside time in the evenings to write (i’m def a night writer). In general tho, as soon as I graduated college, some of my friends and I that all love writing started a collective spread sheet for us to track our word counts so that we could hold each other accountable for trying to make writing for pleasure a priority in our lives that we didn’t let slip away now that Adult Life was beginning. Having those and other writing buddies def helps make me make the time for writing. I don’t necessarily write EVERY single day every month, but basically I try to fit it in as often as possible. I find that after a really good writing month, I tend to end up in a slump for a few weeks, but having at least 1-2 projects going at all times keeps me coming back after not too long. It’s just one of those things you have to give yourself permission to make a priority, y’know?

ok black friday official review SPOILERS under the cut. hopefully they fixed it so cuts work on mobile but if not uh. scroll fast i guess.

okay to start off? the songs? bangers. jeff blim really said every song on this soundtrack is gonna slap. i don’t think there’s a single song i disliked? wiggle is a standout, feast or famine rules, adore me rules, hell even the little song becky and tom sing when they’re looking for hannah is just. insanely good.

angela does a REALLY good job as lex, like she embodies this shitty disillusioned teen so well and she and kendall have great chemistry as sisters. she and rob also have really good chemistry, i love the bit where he goes “oh i guess i forgot cuz im just SO stupid” and she like, laughs and pushes him off, they have a lot of cute moments

(side note: i know with tgwdlm the theories as to why paul and emma never kissed was either lauren doesn’t like to kiss onstage or the lang bros don’t like making people kiss onstage, i think with black friday we can safely confirm the langs have no issue with making people kiss onstage LOL)

tbh all the acting is stellar as expected, i haven’t seen enough people talking abt how jaime kills it as sherman, so i’m gonna say that jaime kills it as sherman.

for something everyone’s been saying: lauren as linda monroe is SO good. i saw some people saying she was written confusingly, which i didn’t get at all? she seemed very straightforward to me. but yeah she was a delight every time she was on stage, it didn’t hurt that she got two of the best songs.

the running bit with gerald was good without ever seeming overdone, implant the way linda says “cinnabon” into my brain pls

i also really liked becky! i thought we got a lot of well written female characters this time around. i thought she balanced being a genuinely loving and empathetic character with also being the only character to have done a non-black-friday-related murder. her killing linda was very satisfying, i liked their dynamic

if becky becomes the new charlotte and i have to sit through 20 million “starkid unpopular opinions :)” videos talking abt how becky sucked and was annoying i’ll riot. charlotte and becky defense squad

i can’t just go through praising every character lol but also dylans return to starkid is worth the hype. it feels like he’s grown leagues since twisted

(hey langs? is literally ANYONE in hatchetfield happily married or is everyone either divorced, widowed, or being abused? are paul and emma going to have to invent good marriages?)

the plot was pretty good, like things made sense and all that. i was a little worried abt an ensemble cast but tbh it’s really not that bad, like everyone’s easy to keep track of and no like, character development feels rushed or anything

tbh the only things that bothered me were lex never finding out that ethan dies (tho i get that there just wasn’t time for it since she and hannah don’t reconnect till the end) and that i personally wasn’t crazy abt the president segments? i would’ve rather just like, had mcnamara undercover at the mall and he like, finds hannah or lex and that’s when he explains everything. maybe wiggly shows up when like, hannah falls asleep or something, we’ve already implied she has a connection to the black and white so just push that more.

(tho tbh then the whole wiggly’s connection to america -> made in america doesn’t happen, so maybe the presidential scenes are a necessary evil who knows. tbh i liked the entire black and white bit)

(also starkid finally includes a fuck america song that makes sense in the narrative hell yeah)

i think the langs are pushing a like, everyone dies at the end of every hatchetfield show kind of thing, which is why it’s really heavily implied everyone gets nuked at the end, but i think you could’ve gotten the same tone by just emphasizing that wiggly mania is ALL over america, and we don’t know if any other place survived, if wiggly found another person to come through, etc. like you don’t need ww3 on the horizon to make it bleak

idk just imo ending act 1 with characters we’ve never seen before seems like a weak choice

(the obama impression was fuckin good tho)

also i’ve never been so confused by an act 2 opener but as soon as i realized what was going on i was delighted

(honestly its funny as hell to me that the langs probably KNEW santa claus goes to high school was coming when everyone was losing their shit over workin boys like. could yall demand a full musical of something that isn’t a 2 minute joke pls)

oh my other plot nitpick is why did becky have that syringe but i’m willing to handwave it as she came here straight from work and accidentally left it in her pocket

i liked the tgwdlm callbacks, some of them felt a little gratuitous but overall they were good. the SHRIEKS of joy when emma mentions hidgens were hysterical.

overall it was really good! i think tgwdlm is still my favorite just because the plot feels a little tighter but honestly black friday might surpass it on the strength of the soundtrack alone. its absolutely in my top 3.

OH ALSO THE CHOREOGRAPHY after my initial watch i put the digital ticket on a few times while i was drawing just to get the most out of the 72 hours i had it and i always stopped what i was doing to watch that one lauren-james-robert bit in deck the halls of northville high. you know the one.

anyways it was good 9/10

EDIT: also i forgot but i... think the langs forgot abt the lgbt character? rumor has it mcnamara had a monologue that got cut where he confirms he had a husband but it didn’t make it into the show so idk. maybe it’ll be in the youtube version

Game of Thrones – A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms - 8x02 episode analysis (kind of)

…or the episode we should have gotten last week.

And we’re back! I am not here to shit on last week’s episode I actually enjoyed it very much, if you just take it for what it was, but! I cannot help but remark how much better episode 2 has been to us… the writing was very very good and rich, and in character, and it finally feels like GoT and… I honestly don’t know what happened in episode 1. But moving on…

As you can already tell, this is going to my personal summary, thoughts and analysis of episode 02 of season 8. Going to put it all under a cut – spoilers, you have been warned.

Listen I am not calling this a trial, because it is not. Yes I know they call it a trial in the BTS and Inside the episode.

Dany’s speech about Jaime’s deeds against House Targaryen is very good. As I have mentioned in my preview analysis, this is the first time (third time is a charm ha) that Jaime and Dany speak to one another. She doesn’t know this man. This man tried to kill her and he killed her father.

I got right half of the stuff at least, for what it’s worth. Tyrion looks soooo sooo bad. LIKE YOU KNEW YOUR SISTER? Oh the glare!!! If looks could kill, Tyrion would be dust. LiStEn, Tyrion, honey. Sit down. Jeez, read the room, you are not making it better. Dany is right - why should she trust this man? And Sansa is right there with her… until Brienne speaks.

Gwen called Brienne’s speech something “almost like a declaration of love” and I think that is so beautiful it hurts. Not a Braime fan, but hey you got fed fam, I am happy for you! I already mentioned in my live blogging that it was either incoherent or just plain retcon to forget that Sansa sent Brienne to KL because she thought Brienne would kill her if it meant a showdown with Arya. But I digress.

I find it very interesting how Jaime didn’t apologise and his cojones to say so because “we were at war” - and I get it, my dude, Ser Hot Stuff, we all know all is fair in love and war, but I guess it would be ooc for him to apologise. Great delivery, I don’t particularly like NCW but this scene? Top notch. I rate it one doggy style fuck out of one, but so good your legs are wobbly and you can barely find the energy to plop on your bed afterwards.

The things we do for love… and Bran is back with the fucking shit stirring drama. We stan Bran Starkashian.

I find it interesting since this is also Dany’s chance to show how she rules - Lady Sansa says her opinion, which surprises Dany. Then she turns to Jon, who the entire time has been very very quiet. Like the kind of quiet you are when you have the biggest hangover and you are stuck in class and you just want it to be over with. So Jon says what he could say to get the fuck out of there. “We need every man we can get.” So Jaime is given his sword back after Grey Worm literally gives him the I AM WATCHING YOU BITCH glare.

But Jon’s chair is not facing forward, it is slightly oriented towards Dany’s. Notice how he doesn’t look at her, even when she addresses him directly. She gets up and everyone does so afterwards FINALLY SOME FUCKING RESPECT and she turns to Jon… and he doesn’t even look at her… and my baby looks heartbroken because he just ignores her *coughs* As soon as the meeting ended, he rushed out, not giving her a chance to say a word. *coughs*

In defence of Jon… Know what, we’ll talk about Jon later, when we get to the reveal.

Oh and Bran totes doesn’t care about Jaime enough to expose him in front of the entire Great Hall. Because ya know, he is a drama queen, but he keeps his cards close, he either already has a plan for Jaime or as he said, and as I have predicted from the preview, it serves no purpose to expose Jaime for what he did to Bran. Like just click on it and read it. Good that Bran called him out on his apology naaah bitch you don’t get to go holier than thou here. It is what it is.

Jaime and Tyrion’s conversation is very interesting, not only about Dany in general whether she is worthy or not, and Tyrion seems to be team Dany. Was it just me or Tyrion more like whispered the part where he talks about Cersei’s baby. Also also listen Jaime, unless you’re suddenly a gynaecologist how the fuck do you know she is not lying? I loved how Tyrion called Jaime out on the fact that he loved Cersei despite knowing full well what and who she was. Dude let’s call it what it was. Don’t play coy now.

Ding ding ding Tyrion mentions marching to KL and killing Cersei … and that’s all I am gonna say about it.

Jaime x Brienne wow this ship is getting so fed - enjoy babies ! And I loved how Brienne was suddenly WHY ARENT YOU INSULTING ME I DONT KNOW HOW TO INTERACT TO YOU !!!! Brienne is leading the left flank and Jaime wants to be led by her. Keep in mind for next week’s episode! I am so proud of my son Pod, I am basically proudmom!Brienne tbh.

The episode in which Dany gets a lot of counsel - because that’s also the type of ruler she is

Tyrion x Varys x Jorah vs Dany - Dany gives the best scolding ever tbh. Moms, take notes, because look at Tyrion’s face. He knows this Christmas when the NK comes he will only get coal. No whores and wine for Tyrion. He was naughty boy.

KHALESSI - Listen. I don’t like Jorah in the books, and my impression of show!Jorah has always been tainted by it. But this Jorah is redeemed and deserves to live I WILL RIOT IF HE DIES. The scene he has with Dany is one of my favourites because it just shows how much history they have together. I will sob if he dies because he is the only one left from S1E01 with her. Jorah tells her to forgive Tyrion and seek out S.ansa to smooth things over. MY BEAR

S.ansa x Daenerys - First time I thought it was going well, they were bonding… and then S.ansa leaned forward and the hand placing seemed a bit too deliberate to me, too Margaery. What I am trying to say is that it is very hard to know if S.ansa is being genuine. It is a very good scene and it holds a lot of importance later on, more on that when I talk about the reveal in the last scene (and I this is what I wanted from episode 1 - cold but courteous.)

S.ansa tells Dany Jon loves her and that “men do stupid things for the women they love, they’re easily manipulated” - which, fair point; she saw Cersei and Margaery do it. Buuuut she also had the counter-argument: she saw how Littlefinger manipulated her aunt. So it goes both ways, bby.

But I love how they paired up the couples for a tragic love song - Brienne x Jaime, Sam x Gilly, S.ansa x Theon, Arya x Gendry, Missandei x Greyworm, Jon x Dany. I wouldn’t look too much into the song choice tbh, since in Inside the episode they say they knew they wanted a song and they just picked this one and added more verses since it was incomplete. I know this is the second Summerhall reference, but ya know, I personally wouldn’t look too much into it. Edit: I should have never trusted D&D - now go read these amazing posts made by @tomakeitbeautifultolive in which she explains the song and the significance for Jonerys. Also Ramin Djawadi spoke about the song and fed our fandom just today (April 25th).

The War Council or let’s gather around Bran Starkashian so he can spill some tea on the NK

Plan sounds basic imo, not that I had expected much about that, but in Miguel we trust and we know he will absolutely crash this battle in episode 3.

Interesting how the casually dropped that apparently the NK’s goal is to destroy Bran. And the mention of the mark - so now basically Bran is chipped. Cool beans. Sam’s remark about “death is forgetting, being forgotten is very interesting. Memories don’t come from books, your stories aren’t just stories.” - interesting take here. I Sam writing the book about Jonerys? If so I am afraid he has A FUCKING BIAS OMG I AM GETTING HEATED AGAIN. Also my friend @iane-casey was totally annoyed how much screen time Sam got which honestly same dude I am still pissed at you *joins Jon to brood and glare at Sam*

Dany publicly makes a point in that she still needs Tyrion aka he is forgiven so that there is no bad blood between them.

FINALLY A MAP: listen, they are outnumbered as fuuuuck… besides that it is clear that Dany’s forces will get the most hit since they are in the vanguard, Birenne on the left with the Knights of the Vale and some Stark forces, on the right we get the rest of the North, and the Mormonts are inside the gates!

Jon walks on Dany a second time - Dany stops as the room clears out (Qhono and Jorah and Varys behind her), looks expectandly at Jon, he doesn’t look at her (MY BABY BOY HE LOOKS SO ROUGH DID HE EVEN SLEEP?), falters “Your Grace”, and bolts. She falters, her face is all WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING and she clears the room too. More on that at the end.

Gendrya or the OTP you did not know you need and why you fucking need it

First of all, this fandom is so pure. I loooooved all the Gendrya on my dash from episode 1 and then this episode I got flooded and I am here for it bitch. Give me all the feels.

Jonerys parentage reveal 2.0 or the reveal Jon also deserved not the travesty he got

I will do a play by play of the scene, but first. Why does Jon avoid Dany? Simple. He is hurting. Since we get the Jaime vs Bran stare down and then we get the Jaime trial, it is safe to assume that happens the morning after Sam blurted the truth to Jon about his mom and dad.

So at Jaime’s fake trial, Jon had what? A few hours at best to process everything - and by that I mean: Dany is his aunt; Ned lied to him his entire life (no matter the reason, Jon has been raised a certain way and to hear the man who was so honourable was capable of the biggest lie in the realm… das huge! so this is shocking his entire moral compass and belief system built upon the education his dad gave him); his dad actually loved his mom and married her so he is no longer a bastard - ya know aka the thing that affected his entire life and the thing he wanted most; his mom died giving birth to him and she managed to think of him in her last moments, enough to make Ned promise her he will take care of her son; the fact that if Robert even caught a whiff of it, he would have been dead. SO that is a LOT LOT.

Which explains why Jon was so out of it when he is asked about Jaime. Also explains why he bolts out of the room without looking at Dany - I think if he had even so much as looked at her he would have broken down. He isn’t ready for it.

Oh the stuff I mentioned he had to come to terms with? On top of all of it we must add the stress of finding a way of telling all of this to Dany in a way that he doesn’t hurt her. Also I bet your ass he thought there was a chance she may not believe him (he himself did not in the beginning)… and a chance she may think he wants the throne since Sam drilled this into his head so now he is afraid of that too.

So when Jon is in the war room he had what? around 12 hours in total since Sam told him? 15? 20? Do you think that’s enough? Because I don’t. But this time he is doing much better. So he is still not looking at Dany, but he addressed her “Your Grace” and leaves - which means he is already in a better place than where he was in the morning, but not quite there yet.

This is good angst. We should rejoice, it will hurt before it gets better.

Moving on. Why didn’t he just directly go to Dany? I honestly don’t think it’s in Jon’s character to seek out comfort. This is a kid who had no one to go to when he would hurt himself. That shit stays with you. You don’t just flip a switch and start seeking out your other half. No, in moments of stress the brain reverts to things it knows bets, to muscle memory and old habits; it uses the energy to overthink itself to death so ain’t nobody got time for that new behaviours shit. At this point jonerys have been together for how long? 3? 4 weeks? That’s not that much. They are used to each other, but not enough to break old habits and past traumas.

Now, the reveal:

Dany stops, silently asking permission before she approaches Jon. Poor bean must be a bit hurt that he avoided her twice, so better make sure he actually wants her company. Jon actually smiles at her, even if it is a sad smile. It kills me how he is just staring at him mom’s statue. KILLS ME. Only then, she approaches him (look at her face, brief relief!). She stops next to him, he turns to her and nods, and only THEN SHE EMBRACES HIS SIDE, HOLDING HIS HANDS, CHIN TO HIS SHOULDER.

“Who is that?”

“Lyanna Stark.” Jon eventually says

Dany looks a bit like oh… shit, again my family yikes… I would say she looks apologetic. “My brother Rhaegar, everyone told me he was decent and kind. He liked to sing. Gave money to poor children. And he raped her” - ok but this is big, because Dany just in S7 recognised her own rape… So no wonder her opinion on Rhaegar is not that good atm.

“He didn’t”

Dany looks shook, but she is still holding onto Jon. Notice how his hand is on hers?

“He loved her.”

She doesn’t interrupt. Jon almost looks like he is feeling brave, so he keeps her hand into his and turns to face her.

“They were married in secret. After Rhaegar fell on the Trident, she had a son. Robert would have murdered the baby if he ever found out and Lyanna knew it.”

Dany is surpised, but so far so good. Jon stares into her eyes.

“So the last thing she did as she bled to death on her birthing bed was give the boy to her brother” – camera on Emilia — oh shit for a split second it starts to show that she is putting two and two together – “Ned Stark” – her eyes widen and she blinks – “to raise as his bastard” – she exhales, breathing accelerates – “My name,” – breathing heavily on her part – “my real name” -- she looks incredulous and nods a smal no – “is Aegon Targaryen” – she blinks, exhales, puls away her hand and turn halfway away from Jon.

She looks away, then at him, he is almost leaning over her but still too far. “That’s impossible.”

Camera on Jonerys

“I wish it were.” (SEE THIS IS WHAT I AM SAYING MY POOR SON)

“Who told you this?”

“Bran. He was it.”

“He SAW it?” She sound clipped, the ARE YOU KIDDING ME tone clipped

“And Samwell confirmed it.”He read about their marriage at the CItadel” – camera on Emilia —”without even knowing what it meant” (OK BUT FUCK OFF SAM GILLY READ THAT) - Dany’s face her, she is clearly restraining herself because this sounds insane.

“A secret no one in the world knew, except your brother and your best friend, doesn’t seem strange to you?” she shakes her head and it breaks my heart how you can see the wheels turning in her head going fuck here we go again, I laid my heart bare and that’s it. Yet another betrayal.

Camera on Kit. He looks at her, takes a step forward “It’s true, Dany.” – camera on Emilia – “I know it is.” (UM HELLO DANY I AM HYPERVENTILATING BITCH)

Dany shakes her head, her face looks full with distrust. Then it goes to despair - her voice shaky “If it were true, it would make you the last male heir of the House Targaryen.” – camera on Kit HE FUCKING FROWNS LIKE WHAT – camera on Emilia – “You’d have a claim to the Iron Throne” – camera on Kit and his face goes again WHA—

THEN THE FUCKING HORN SOUNDS. Jon turns his head towards the door, but Dany keeps staring at him and she looks heartbroken.

They go out and it’s all business. He nods to her and she leaves. Interesting though - she comes out first. Jon turned back towards the sound so if they were just running out he should have come out first. Either he remembered to be courteous or there is another small exchange we didn’t get to see. Or maybe I am reading way into things and it was a lame ass decision hahah.

Ok so the reveal to Dany - you better fucking take notes Sam cuz this is how you do a reveal: being calm, level headed, explaining to the person as much as you can, answering questions.

On Dany’s reaction: my friend @oadara said it so so well in this post here. So, building on that, we need to put her reaction in context, just like I did with Jon’s cold shoulder. Dany’s discussion with S.asnsa is fresh in her mind, not just the part about who is manipulating whom, and that must drive her nuts now, but also the part in which S.asnsa did a 180 on her just when she thought she was making progress, so feeling like she was being manipulated. One of course must start asking questions. Has Jon just found out? Has he always known? Did he seduce her to take her armies and her dragons her her throne?? Moreover, Dany specifically tells S.ansa that her only goal in life has been the Iron Throne. Imagine that - having one goal in life, and suddenly someone comes in and can just rip it all away from you, poof just like that, they just need to say the word. Moreover, males have preference… and so many would rather follow a male than a female. And that’s a fact.

Moreover… she still thinks herself barren…

Like I am not saying Dany suddenly hates Jon or will cast him away (ok maybe she will initially I have a prediction/theory I will explain in a different post). I am saying… JUST GIVE DANY TIME. She just found out and now she gotta go save everyone’s ass. Let the girl breathe.

I was asking myself but why would Jon tell her now? If he himself wishes she had never known? I think it may be a very Ned Stark thing - he genuinely thinks he will fall, and he wanted to tell her the truth, because Rhaegar Targaryen may be his dad but Ned Stark is his daddy.
