Finding Pride

Summary: Finn and Marceline have a talk about coming out, knowing yourself, and queerness. Marceline gives Finn some advice.

Note: Marceline and PB are in an established relationship and it is discussed, but PB is not actually a part of this story. Sorry if that's what you were looking for.

Marceline was rummaging around in the kitchen when Finn spoke up. She had bought a bag of chips for him only a week ago, but it had somehow disappeared. She had given up on looking through the upper cabinets, and was just pulling some pots out of a lower one to get a clear view.

Her vampire hearing was good enough to register that he said something, but not what he said. She put the pots down on the floor next to her with a clank.

“What did you say?”

“I said forget the chips, I… I wanna talk to you about something.”

Well, that was unusual. Even when he wasn’t in a growth spurt, Finn had always been a bottomless pit. He would snack on anything and everything, and Marceline tried to make sure he had something to eat after their jam sessions.

“Alright, I’m coming.” Marceline stood up and floated over the kitchen counter, back into the living room.

Finn was still sitting on a pillow in the middle of the floor. Papers, Marceline’s recording equipment, and a few hand-held percussion instruments were scattered around him. Finn moved a few pages of sheet music to the side when Marceline came to hover next to him, clearing a place. Marceline usually preferred to float instead of sitting on the ground, but she had a feeling that this was a more serious conversation. She lowered herself down, crossing her legs and facing Finn.

Jake was off on a hot date with Rainicorn, but Marceline didn’t mind chilling with Finn solo. They hadn’t really spent much time together since the whole Candy-War-GOLB thing, and that had been hard for all of them. Marceline had helped Bonnie rebuild a bit, but she had mostly been busy with Simon. He had missed a lot, and she was still getting used to having him around again.

Maybe Finn wanted to talk about the big battle. Marceline knew he’d gotten into some intense situations before, but he had always been sensitive about that stuff. Marceline wasn’t exactly a fountain of helpful advice, but she’d try her best.

“What’s up, Finn?”

Finn looked down at his hands, gripping the prosthetic one with his real one. “How did you figure out that you liked more than just guys?”

It took Marceline a second to wrap her head around the phrasing of the question. She had a feeling she knew what he was talking about, but she wanted to make sure. “What do you mean?”

Finn kept playing with his prosthetic. “Well I mean, a few years ago there was all that drama with your ex-boyfriend Ash trying to make you forget that you broke up. But you’re with Bonnie now? So you like girls and guys?”

Marceline chuckled. “I’m bi and I like more than just that, but yeah.”

Finn nodded sagely. “Yeaaah, because some people in Ooo aren’t boys or girls, like BMO.”

“Exactly.” Marceline picked up a pen and twirled it over her fingers. “I’ve had a few boyfriends and girlfriends, and one who wasn’t either. I never really thought about stuff like gender, I just thought about if I liked someone or not.”

That was partially true, though it had taken a long time for Marceline to get her first crush in general. After Simon left, she had barely come across any other survivors during puberty, and most of them had been way too old or too young for her to be interested in them like that. Marceline had invented plenty of imaginary crushes, of course, but she wasn’t going to talk about that. She needed to explain things in a way that would make sense to Finn, not deep dive into her past.

“It’s… It’s kind of like how you figured out that you were a boy. It’s just a feeling you get, you know? I never felt like I had something against guys, though. I just realized that I was interested in more than that.” Marceline looked up at Finn again, and he quickly looked away. “Why are you asking me about this? Isn’t this kind of life advice more Jake’s thing?”

Finn shrugged, hunching his shoulders a bit. “Jake is an amazing big brother, but I kind of wanted to ask someone else. You’re the easiest to talk to. I… I’ve been thinking about this stuff more recently. And I think I might like guys too. But I don’t know. It’s weird.”

Marceline had been expecting something like that since the start of their conversation. Finn looked like he might pass out, though.

“Dude, look at me.” Marceline put one hand on Finn’s shoulder. She smiled when he turned to face her again and gently squeezed his shoulder. “That’s cool. It’s fine to not be sure.”

“Really?” Finn reached up and tugged at the bottom of his bear hat. “I mean, you said that it was just your feelings. Mine aren’t clear at all. I don’t know what I’m feeling.”

“That’s just part of being a teenager.” Marceline answered automatically, and she tried not to laugh as Finn frowned.

“Come on dude!”

“Sorry, sorry, I know that doesn’t help! But it’s true. Part of the reason I’m so weird after a thousand years is because I’ve still got teen hormones running through my brain all the time.” Marceline moved again, this time taking Finn’s face in her hands. His cheeks still had a tiny bit of baby fat in them, and Marceline squished them once before she continued. “Dude, listen to me. You’re literally only 16. Even if you never get some kind of curse or artifact that makes you live longer, you still have decades to figure out who you are and who you’re into. Heck, what you want will probably change in that time. I know it’s hard right now, but it’s normal to feel this way. I might not change while I’m an immortal vampire, but I’ve seen plenty of people grow up.”

Marceline sensed that Finn wasn’t fully convinced. She let go of his face and pulled back, giving him some space again. “You used to be crazy about helping princesses only a few years ago. Full of ideas about good and evil and how you want to beat up bad guys. But you don’t see the world that way any more, do you? You still want to help people, but I’ve seen you think a lot more about what you do, and who you might hurt.”

Finn nodded.

“Well, questioning who you like is just another part of growing up. There’s no right or wrong answer here, and no big deadline to figure it out. Just take your time and chill out. Or go do a dungeon crawl, I’m not a cop.” Marceline knew the joke was bad, but luckily, Finn still laughed at it.

Once they had both quieted down again, Marceline continued. “Look, it might sound stupid, but the best advice I have is to just do what feels right to you in the moment. Maybe that’s going on a date with a guy, maybe it isn’t. That part’s up to you. All I’m saying is don’t sweat it too much. Besides, you can be into someone and not do anything about it. I started having feelings for Bonnie again way before we were even good friends, but if I had tried to force things then we probably never would have gotten back together.”

Finn was silent for a little while, longer than Marceline expected. Finally, he leaned against her.

His voice was quiet, almost shaky. “I’m still a dude, right? This doesn’t have to change that?”

Marceline’s eyes widened. She should have expected something like that, but she hadn’t been. All of those “hero lessons” from Jake and other male warriors in Finn’s life had really gotten deep into his brain if he thought that saving and marrying a woman was the only way to affirm himself. Marceline hoped that she didn’t accidentally give Finn any dysphoria, but she wasn’t going to let him keep believing that.

Marceline wrapped one arm around him, resting her cheek on top of his head. “Of course you are. Being into men doesn’t make you any less of a man. I’m not a guy just because I’m with Bonnie, right?”

Finn nodded.

“The same goes for you, Finn. You’re still a boy.” Marceline grunted as Finn suddenly locked both arms around her waist, but she just squeezed him back. “And you’re still my friend. No matter what happens, or who you choose to be with, I’ll be here for you.”

“Thanks dude.” Finn’s voice wobbled, and Marceline felt something wet on her shoulder.

“It’s no problem.” Marceline began rubbing circles in the middle of Finn’s back.

Finn didn’t cry for very long, but Marceline’s legs were going numb by the time he was finished. He refused a tissue from Marceline, instead wiping his nose on his sleeve. Marceline didn’t say anything; she was too busy stretching her body up in the air again.

“Sooo, is there someone specific that you’re interested in right now who started this whole sexuality crisis?” Marceline flipped so that she was hanging upside down, leaning in close to Finn’s face. “Come oooon, you can tell me. I’ll keep it a secret.”

Finn rubbed the back of his neck with one hand, his cheeks flushing pink as he looked away. “I don’t know. Maybe? I still don’t know if Huntress Wizard and I are going to hang out again. Glob, I’m not sure if I even want to be with someone right now.”

Marceline heard Finn’s heartbeat pick up a bit, but it didn’t go as fast as it did when he was lying.

“Fine. Let me know if you do start dating someone, so I can mess with them.” Marceline ruffled the top of Finn’s hat, making some of his blonde hair poke out of the edges. “I can always come spy on you to check.”

Finn grabbed Marceline’s hand, fighting back against the mussing. “There’s no way I’m gonna let you do that!”

Marceline hissed, and made her face morph into a more batlike form. “You think you can stop me, little boy? Bring it on!”

Then she and Finn were play-wrestling again, with Finn trying to drag her down to the ground and Marceline floating up higher. Marceline was glad that Finn trusted her, but his little confession wasn’t going to change their whole dynamic. It was just another moment of intimacy in what would hopefully be a long friendship.

carlos sainz: hair by little mix. he’s got a choreographed dance too but dw it’s SUPER no homo he just thinks his hair is amazing and interprets the song as supporting that

Day One of CinemaCon is done, deaded, over!

The slate was pretty much as I expected sans any info on Dakota Johnson's MADAME WEB.

-Jennifer Lawrence was on hand to tout her sex comedy NO HARD FEELINGS.

-Denzel Washington and his MAN ON FIRE costar Dakota Fanning talked their reunion project, EQUALIZER 3.

-Also in a reunion project is Joaquin Phoenix and his GLADIATOR director Ridley Scott. Footage from Scott's NAPOLEON - starring Phoenix, was shown. As part of Sony's deal with Apple+ it will have have a sturdy theatrical run before going to the streamer.

-Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd, McKenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard- clad in Ghostbusters uniform - sent a set video message from their not-as-yet named sequel of GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE.

-Martin Lawrence and Will Smith sent a video message from set of BAD BOYS 4.

-Whether they're really playing in Glen Powell's girlfriend's face or just trying to drum up press for their l'il movie, Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney were on hand to promote their rom-com ANYONE BUT YOU.

-There was extended footage of GRAN TURISMO starring Orlando Bloom and David Harbour.

-Also on video was Aaron Taylor-Johnson to tease footage from his starring vehicle KRAVEN THE HUNTER. It will be the first Sony Marvel film with an R rating. Confirmed for the film? Alessandro Nivola is playing Rhino.

-Fourteen minutes of SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE was screened. The animated film takes place a year post SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE.

Other Sony films promoted: the Priyanka Chopra-Jonas, Sam Heughan (and bewilderingly, Celine Dion) romance LOVE AGAIN, KNIGHTS OF THE ZODIAC starring Mackenyu, Sean Bean and Famke Janssen, the dark comedy THE MACHINE, the John Cho and Katherine Waterson fronted horror film THEY LISTEN, the all-star biblical film THE BOOK OF CLARENCE starring LaKeith Stanfield as the title character who is trying to capitalize on the rise of the Messiah. The film also stars RJ Cyler, Mame-Anna Diop, Omar Sy, David OyelewoBenedict Cumberbatch, James McAvoy and others and INSIDIOUS: THE RED DOOR which will be directed by INSIDIOUS star Patrick Wilson and also marks the return of Ty Simpkins to the franchise.

Finn looovesss jazz and swing music, classical too. He loves other types too but those three are his top favourites. Finn says hello back ^^

My music taste is all over the place but my favourite artist of all time is The Stupendium and the genre of their music is Otacore/nerdcore.

I really like classic music too- classic pop (Celine Dion), classic rock (Bon Jovi and Roxette). I just like rock in general.

I REALLY love Gorillaz

Some other artists I like is: Poor Man's Poison, Panic!At The Disco, Set It Off, Icon For Hire, Palaye Royale, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy and more.

Honestly no matter the genre if I like it I'll jam to it.

Now that you said all of deepdive are brand ambassadors, I'm curious of that, who's brand ambassador of which brand?

JISUNG was the first male Angelico artist to become an ambassador for any brand let alone a high-end fashion brand. He began working with VERSACE in 2020 and has modeled for multiple of their campaigns as well as heavily promoted the brand. He was the first member of DeepDive to become a brand ambassador.

WOOJIN became the second member to become a brand ambassador but was is the most notable. Picked up by GUCCI in 2020, Woojin became DeepDive's resident Gucci Boy and everyone's favorite boy to solo stan. Even after his removal from DeepDive, he remained an ambassador for the brand even working for them as a model and walking their runways.

KIWOO shocked everyone by becoming the third member in to become a brand ambassador in 2021. CELINE picked him up and hasn't dropped him since. Kiwoo can mainly be seen at their fashion shows or posting the brand on his Instagram. He's never walked for the brand but he's modeled for multiple of their campaigns.

NOAH, JACOB, AND FINN AKA AMERICAN LINE are the most recent additions to ADIDAS' brand ambassadors being recruited in 2022. The trio is often featured in promotional campaigns for the brands and has modeled for them numerous times in just the short amount of time they've been working with the brand. They're usually a package deal, if you see one of them in an Adidas ad the other two are just around the other corner.

I have done the KOC (Kinda Orphans Crew), time for the Children of Omnicron! (Whom I also love) We have:

Mean Rudolf the red-nosed reindeer (who is on fire

Fenrir thought that naming his human self after a wolf would be ironic. However, it only makes him sound like an edgelord.

Will send shit up in flames to make himself laugh. Deena tries to repair affected lifeforms whenever possible. Also used to set shit on fire to piss Metta off.

Unironcially enjoys fucking with Ross. Ross was pissed at first but now he just tries to get Fenrir back via tomfoolery. This has turned into a prank war, but with more fire.

Most of the time, he chooses to switch to Fona at reasonable times and locations. Reason gets thrown out the window is Fenrir gets even slightly cold.

Boasts to the other CoO that he looks the most like the MC. He shut up when Nadine mentioned that that means that he looks the most like Deena. (Zetta wonders how a wolf would have 2 deer, 2 dragons, a bird, a ball?, and a fish as his children)

Battles Celine and Petram to relieve destructive tendencies that build up over time. Celine enjoys these bouts immensely, and Fenrir refuses to admit if he does or not. (He does)

Was intially standoffish to the MC after resurrection, but quickly became attached to them. Has literally walked into the Parum Guild as Fona to ask where they were.

Likes to cause random windstorms to fuck with the guild specifically. Will not do it if KOC is nearby.

Is currently trying to get Nora to be more assertive and aggressive. Nora has used her 'newfound' assertiveness to ridicule Nadine on her previous decisions.

Honestly spends more time as Ventra than as Nadine. Lands and sleeps on Deena's airship to annoy her.

Mainly avoids the other CoO. Only really engages with the others to either suggest stupid shit to them or do stupid shit to them. (Except Grunda)

Has developed a respect for Lydia's hunts and her control of the greater drakes. Had a similar respect for Metta's Nexolord conquests.

Tries to be a cryptic, cool aunt but just comes off as overdramatic. The MC doesn't mind though.

A dolphin with bad volleyball skills

Merida sounded like 'mermaid', so she went with that. Zetta said she didn't look like one and she tried to drown him.

Only really uses her powers if she gets mad. Which is often. i.e. Volleyball matches.

Finn has been insistent on battling her for practice, which has annoyed her to no end. She eventually decided that beating him into the ground repeatedly would make her feel better. The same worked for when Metta was being annoying.

Very reasonable with switching between Arqua and Merida. However, she will switch 100% of the time if given the chance to fuck with the Guild. Block the harbor? Constantly sit or stand in the corner of Lobo's eye to fuck with him? Sleep on Deena's personal airship, as recommended by Ventra? Nothing is out of the question.

Talks to the other about life advice, surprisingly. Gets good advice from Grunda and Deena, gets bad advice from Fenrir and Nadine. Doesn't even try to ask Zetta for advice.

Nolan is the only person in the entire continent who is willing to play volleyball with her. This is because his volleyball skills are on the exact same level as Merida's.

Actually really likes the MC. Has tries to convince them to have a volleyball match with her, but they were always suddenly busy. It can't be helped, Merida supposes.

Purple, juiced Rayquaza

Tried to think of the most random name he could to piss off the rest of his siblings. Thus, Zetta. He also chose it to shit on Metta.

Shocks people at random times to fuck with them. Also causes power outages for fun, except in Cadium. The Guild does not appreciate this.

He thinks that Coco is the coolest thing since sliced bread, despite Coco's protests. Zetta has multiple scratches to show for this, but he doesn't mind. In fact, he says in makes him look cool.

Honestly, he only switches now to show off in front of others. He is just slightly too big to not cause a nationwide panic when he switches to Luxa. (That doesn't stop him though.)

Ya know those younger siblings who ask about every single thing they see who have no brakes or filter whatsoever? Yeah, that's Zetta. Man hasn't been above ground for like, 800 years. Shit's changed and he's curious.

Bothers Logan constantly. Logan just wants to do unethical science without this thousands-of-years old child knocking on his window at 3 in the morning.

Overprotective of the MC, of all things. Respects their power but is also like, "That's the only(?) member of the family that is younger than me! I'm not losing this opportunity to embarrass them!" Also tries to be the cool uncle.

Old Godzilla that runs an orphanage

Had a human name once, but honestly forgot it a long time ago. The others think it's hilarious when he introduces himself as Grunda to humans.

Does not really use his powers anymore. Only really uses them to remove large rocks that the orphanage kids could injure themselves on. (lord, he has gotten soft)

All of KOC come to him when they do stupid things because they know he won't as upset with them due to Grunda witnessing their history of doing stupid things. The KOC and Metta, a long time ago, are correct.

Almost never switches anymore. When he does though, it's only because the KOC or, rarely, FRN asked him to. They like to sit on his head.

Has been using the other CoO's exploits as bedtime stories at the Orphanage for a long time now, but modifed to more kid friendly versions. The first time each of CoO came in individually the kids were all ecstatic because "Mr. Grunda's brother/sister was here and they had heard so much about them!" (The other CoO never know what to do with several tiny human children all trying to talk and play with them at once.)

Leo lives with at the Orphanage now. Nobody knows how this 13 year old child managed to move across the continent without anyone knowing, but Nora theroizes that Ross had something to do with it. Leo also doesn't know that Grunda is the Grunda, somehow.

Easily has the best relationship with the MC. It happens when you raise someone from practically birth. Grunda did have practice with literally all of the others, after all.

A deer-plant-thing that can kick your ass

Deena was just a name that felt right. Only chose it after being disowned, however. Metta was never able to figure out her human form because of this.

Mainly uses her powers to restore life to lifeless places. The others think that it is a fruitless endeavor, but Deena finds joy in the small things it produces.

Surprisingly, Riley has come to her for ass kicking lessons. Deena was initially surprised until she found out Riley was using those lessons to prevent Finn from doing stupid shit. Nolan eventually joins.

Switches the most out of all of the siblings. Mainly does it to help MC get used to their Tyrant form. Also will give rides if asked politely.

The other CoO come to her to break them out of jail. At this point, they have their own private 'Primordial Tryant Time Out' jail at the Parum Guild headquarters, courtesy of the other Guildmasters.

Fucks with Xanders constantly. Has convinced the other CoO to do so as well. Nadine was especially gun-ho about it.

Has been trying to not pressure the MC with the whole 'I'm you mom' thing. The MC is very hesitant as well, but they primarily ask her about guild things and Tyrant things, just to get used to her presence.

And a ball of ribbons out for revenge, which isn't new

Never really gave himself a human name. He never felt like it was appropriate.

Uses to power to extract revenge upon his siblings and his niece/nephew. Success... varies.

Doesn't really talk to anyone anymore. He kinda misses it after being forced to talk to people nonstop as the Nexolord.

Always Metta. The first time he switched back to 'The Nexolord' was to, predictably, fuck with his niece/nephew.

Refuses to interact with the other CoO due to their involvement with Omnisun's ascension. He refuses to admit that he misses them.

Also fucks with the N1 Protagonist when applicable. Primarily through Venefelis' existence.

Fucking hates his niece/nephew.
