It’s Free Real Estate
Summary: The backstory for how Marceline got ahold of PB's sweater. (Missing scene with slight canon divergence, Marceline and PB are in a relationship.)
Warnings: none, this is just fluff
I wrote this as a gift for my little sister's bday. This is based on the white sweater with red, yellow, and blue stripes that both Marceline and PB wear later on in the series: https://images.app.goo.gl/UFeAAiBYjb3M8FJq7.
Thank you to @nebula-gaster for beta reading, I appreciate it!
Read it on ao3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/46226977
Or under the cut:
Marceline blinked slowly, the ceiling coming into focus above her. It was higher than her own ceiling, and she recognized the familiar arches right away. That was right, she had stayed over last night.
She and Bonnibel had finally started hanging out again. She still wasn’t sure if they were really dating or not, but they could take things slow. They both had plenty of time, and maybe the reason things hadn’t worked out the first time was because Marceline had rushed things.
Whatever they were, last night Bonnibel had invited her to watch a movie, and she had accepted. Then they had stayed up talking all night and late into the morning—late enough for Marceline to fall asleep, while Bonnibel went off to start her day. She was probably exhausted, but Marceline had seen her stay up for four days in a row before her brain finally crashed. She would be fine.
Marceline stretched, then finally rolled out of bed. Bonnibel’s blanket was soft and fluffy, and she kept one wrapped around her as she looked around. Her jacket was still lying on the chair where she had dropped it last night, but she had a better idea.
Marceline crept over to Bonnibel’s closet and opened it up. She knew that Bonnibel had some nice clothes, and she wouldn’t miss one sweater. Most of Bonnibel’s closet was pink or purple, but Marceline wasn’t after that.
At the bottom of a thick stack of sweaters, she finally found something she liked. A chunky knitted white sweater with thick red and yellow stripes across the chest, and some blue ones on the sleeves. She felt the material, and it was even softer on the inside than it was on the outside.
Marceline tossed the blanket back on the bed and put the sweater on. It was oversized and hung down her legs almost far enough to be a dress. She glanced down, adjusting the neck of the sweater so that it hung off of one shoulder. Even if she couldn’t see herself in the mirror, she could still tell that the sweater looked nice on her.
The door opened. Marceline turned invisible, hoping the sweater had changed with her. When Bonnibel stepped in, she sighed and reappeared again.
“Hey, what’re you doing back?” She asked, floating a bit closer to Bonnibel. “Is the kingdom finally able to run itself?”
Bonnibel didn’t look surprised to see her. “Unfortunately, no. Breakfast Princess and Wildberry Princess are here for afternoon tea. I need to change,” Bonnibel said, gesturing to her open lab coat and worn-out pink flannel. She glanced up at Marceline and squinted. “Is that mine?”
“Yeah. You mind if I borrow it?” Marceline asked, already going back down to the ground in case she needed to take it off. “It’s really soft.”
“Why?” Bonnibel saw that Marceline was confused, so she explained herself a bit more. “I mean, you have your own clothes. Why do you want mine?”
Marceline opened up the hidden drawer inside of Bonnibel’s closet, and pulled out the old band t-shirt she had given Bonnibel back in the day. “You’ve got one of mine.”
Bonnibel blushed, and she grinned. Too easy. She still had the sweetest pink flush Marceline had ever seen. She had just woken up, so she was hungrier than usual. She shook her head a bit, getting those thoughts out of her head. Feeding from Bonnibel was an emergency measure only.
“You can take it.” Bonnibel looked away, rubbing her arm. “And if… you want to trade more clothes, just let me know.”
“Thanks Bonbon,” Marceline said, letting her feet lift off the ground again.
She moved around Bonnibel and grabbed her jacket from the chair, draping it over her shoulders. She hadn’t expected to stay overnight, so she hadn’t brought her umbrella. She would need to turn into a bat and hide to fly back.
“I’ll go through your closet another night. I should probably head home and get some breakfast.”
Bonnibel nodded, glancing between Marceline and her closet but not moving yet. “Yes. I have to go before the others get suspicious.”
“Okay, cool.” Marceline tugged on her jacket, floating a bit closer to Bonnibel. “I’ll see you later then?”
“Goodbye, Marceline.” Bonnibel smiled at her.
“Bye.”
Marceline swooped in and kissed Bonnibel’s cheek, then flew away before Bonnibel could react. She transformed halfway into her bat form, using her wings to make both the curtains and windows in front of her open wide. Marceline curled up underneath the coat, her face burning as she flew away from the castle.

Hey, guess what: I finally wrote another AT fic! It's been, uh. *looks at my archives* Well, let's not think about how long it's been. Enjoy!

WIP - Finding Your Missing Problem
So doing that one post earlier today got me thinking...
What if Marceline actually FINISHED singing 'I'm Just Your Problem' instead of choking at "Why do I want to...?"
As in, what if we, and more importantly Bonnie, heard what Marceline REALLY wanted? XD
---
The growing lights become a crescendo as the sealed doors of the Door Lords practically explode in a cloud of glimmering sparkles rising up before descending down into the canyon.
And at the center of it all, bathed in a shower of shimmering fractals of light in front of the now-open gateway, floats Marceline the Vampire Queen.
“Oh my glob Marceline! That was AMAZING!” yelled Finn the Human in abject awe as he ran up to the entrance to look up to the floating vampire.
“Yeah! That door said we needed a band, but you busted that thing open all on your own!” Jake the Dog added as he also ran up to join his younger brother.
“Yes! You have proven yourself far superior to our lacking musical talent.” Added BMO.
But Marceline didn’t seem to hear them, or even register what she just accomplished.
She was breathing heavily, her face now drenched in sweat from an exhaustion that wasn’t physical. Her axe that she once held tight as she played her song was supported only by its strap over her shoulder, her arms now hanging limp at her sides. Even her normal energetic floating was now entirely still.
And she wasn’t looking at Finn, Jake, BMO or even the brilliant shower of lights falling around her.
Instead her gaze was locked squarely on the pink-haired, pink-skinned gum princess sitting shock-still on a rock. Whose own gaze was locked squarely back at her. One wide-eyed pair of eyes staring right into another.
Then the pink girl got to her feet.
The princess walked forward in a slow, almost uncertain pace and the vampire queen drifted slowly downwards.
All the while their shared gaze never breaking.
“Come on Princess! Let’s go get our… stuff. Princess?” Finn spoke up, only to trail off as the princess walked right past him without so much as an acknowledgement.
It seemed in this moment, Bonnibel Bubblegum was focused just as absolutely on Marceline Abadeer as the other was on her. Completely unaware and uncaring of anything except each other.
After what was in reality just a few moments but which probably felt like an eternity to the pair, Marceline’s feet finally came to rest on the ground and Bonnibel’s feet came to a halt. The two now directly facing each other so close that the princess’s crown was bumping into the wide brim of the vampire’s hat.
Both of their gazes still locked firmly on the other’s, both of their faces in an unreadable expression, though for entirely different reasons.
Marceline’s face was an unreadable mess of emotions. Shame, longing, guilt, nostalgia, anger, affection, fear, and so many others.
Bonnibel’s face by contrast was an unreadable blank. A complete neutral seemingly devoid of anything.
The pair continued to stare into each other’s eyes for a couple more moments as the shower of lights fell around, which must have felt like another eternity for them. Entirely unaware and uncaring of anything but each other.
Until…
“Bonnie,-MMPH” Marceline spoke while Bonnibel acted.
Bonnie lunged forward, smashing her lips in Marcie’s own, so hard and so fast she knocked her own crown off on Marcie’s hat.
And despite any surprise, it was only after the barest of split-seconds of hesitation that Marcie was smashing her own lips back into Bonnie’s JUST as hard.
Mouths opened, teeth banged together, tongues met and hands began to hold fast to each other as Marcie and Bonnie KISSED.
----
There will certainly be more XD
(To be clear, I have no intention of posting full fics here. Completed stories will still only be going up on my AO3 page.)

Home Again
Little something because I wish we got a little aftermath scene in Fionna and Cake with Simon and Marceline. That's his daughter! She gave him something to live for! First Adventure Time fic :-P
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Simon!”
Simon turned around just in time to catch Marceline in his arms. She briefly lifted him from the ground, hugging him tightly until she gently placed him back down among the dandelions. Her wide-brimmed hat cast a large shadow over both of them as the sun rose above the horizon.
“Are you okay? Where have you been?” Marceline gripped him by the shoulders, her voice frantic. “I tried to call you back yesterday, but you weren’t answering and you weren’t at your house and Finn said he took you into the Heart of the Forest and you fought a bear?!”
Simon blinked. “Ha…” he chuckled, his chest trembling as a mixture of emotions ruptured inside. Everything that had happened in what had felt like weeks came flooding back with just as much joy and pain as when he had first experienced them.
His laughter grew, morphing into hysterical laughter. Yesterday? He had only been gone from Ooo for one day. Time really was a funny thing. Oh, Betty, thank you…
“Simon?” Marceline’s tone softened, brushing aside a strand of hair that had fallen across his face.
Taking her by surprise, Simon embraced her, attempting to lift her up, only succeeding by an inch for a second. Curse his old man knees. He kissed her on the cheek, on her forehead, moving to her other cheek and repeating until Marceline giggled like she used to when she was younger.
Tears blurred his vision, but Simon had never seen more clearly. “My little Marcy, it’s so good to see you again.”
“Simon, is everything okay?”
Glob, was everything okay? His head had been pried apart and rattled in more ways than one. He had zapped from alternate universe to alternate universe and back again. He had quite literally gazed into the maw of Golb/his once human fiancée and lived to tell the tale.
Voice shaking, Simon removed his glasses to wipe his eyes. “No…” Behind him, the sun was warm against his back. When he placed them back on, he smiled. “But I think it’s getting better.”

What if the scene at the end of 'Simon and Marcy' went differently, and Simon hadn't been able to put on the crown? What if they both got away, with Simon hanging onto enough of his sanity to stay with Marceline and not send her off to her father? They're both going through it, but at least they have each other🥫👑 >> Chapter 1

• Title: Something warm on your plate, clothes on your back
• Author: haystarlight
• Fandom: Adventure Time (Cartoon)
• Pairing: Princess Bubblegum/Marceline Abadeer
The first time Bonnibel saw her, she was standing on the corner of the sidewalk playing her bass guitar.
Bonnibel was on her way to work and running late and yet she couldn’t help but stop herself to listen to the music. It was a beautiful sound; a little punk rock but also a little melancholic and a little sad. And actually, incredibly familiar.
“Do I know you from somewhere?”

Slow Dance Chapter 14
Summary: After the concert, people are starting to talk. Marceline and PB have a talk about their relationship.
Warnings: none
Read it on ao3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/14520357/chapters/118116382
Read it from the beginning: https://archiveofourown.org/works/14520357/chapters/33547989
Only two days after the concert, Bonnibel was confronted with the reality of her situation. Wildberry Princess had always enjoyed stirring up drama, and during their next “intimate” tea party with only five guests, she theatrically pulled Bonnibel aside. All of the other Princesses had been in her position before, and they tactfully spoke amongst each other as they walked into the hallway.
She didn’t take long to get to the point. “I heard an… interesting rumour about you being at one of Marceline’s concerts. Someone said you went backstage.”
Bonnibel was shocked, but she still managed to reply after only a few seconds. “Marceline and I are friends. Finn helped us reconcile a few years ago.”
Wildberry Princess pursed her lips. “Still, it isn’t exactly the kind of image you usually send. I would think you of all people would understand proper decorum.”
She didn’t have the time or the patience for this. “Wildberry Princess, if you have a problem with me, then say it directly or just leave me alone. My kingdom is doing well, and I am not concerned about taking a single night out of the year to go out.”
Wildberry Princess’ expression showed that this would definitely come back to bite Bonnibel, but she just curtsied gracefully. “Of course, Princess Bubblegum. I’m so sorry if I overstepped.”
Bonnibel bowed back. “Don’t worry, Princess. I appreciate your concern for myself and my wellbeing. Please, if you ever have similar concerns, don’t hesitate to bring them up with me. I want our kingdoms’ alliance to be long and profitable.”
Wildberry Princess smiled, but there was no warmth in her eyes. “Of course. You know, I’m quite parched. Shall we go back for more tea?”
—X—
That night, it was Marceline’s turn to come visit her. Bonnibel prepared a charcuterie plate for her, including a few new crossbred strawberries she had been growing in her lab. It was difficult to get strawberries with both a deep red colour and a good flavour that weren’t tiny, but she was fairly optimistic. She had baked a few of them into strawberry cake for herself, and they were delicious. She usually didn’t eat in bed, but she needed to talk to Marceline privately, so they could at least nibble on some snacks in bed.
Three knocks sounded at the window, and Bonnibel jumped. She subtly rearranged a few napkins sitting next to the plate on her nightstand, then hurried over to the window. She had slipped into one of her more casual pink dresses, and the skirt swished as she stopped and opened up the windows.
“Hey.” Marceline waved, and floated inside.
She was wearing an oversized red sweater that hung off one shoulder, and as they hugged, Bonnibel felt how soft it was. She kept up the hug for longer than usual, pressing her face into the sweater. Marceline lowered her feet down to the floor, patting her back gently.
“Rough day?”
“Somewhat. Let’s sit down.” Bonnibel pulled away, taking Marceline’s hand and bringing her over to her bed.
They sat next to each other, leaning on a few pillows propped up against the head of her bed. Marceline shifted so their legs were touching, and Bonnibel put her hand on top of Marceline’s.
“Are you hungry? I have a few other things in the kitchen, if you want,” Bonnibel said, gesturing to the plate.
“I’ll have some in a little bit.” Marceline turned her hand up, so they were holding hands properly. “What’s up, Bonnie? You want to talk about it?”
There was no point in dancing around the issue. “Wildberry Princess heard about the concert.”
“Oh.” Marceline glanced away, and Bonnibel’s heart dropped in her chest. “What did she, uh, say about it?”
“That’s not important. There’s something else we need to discuss.” Bonnibel took a deep breath, and her voice was steady when she continued. “Are you ready for us to be public? I know we said we were taking things slow, but at a certain point, I will have to confirm or deny our relationship. I don’t want to force you into anything, but I don’t want to reject you. So, what do you want?”
Marceline seemed surprised, and Bonnibel squeezed her hand, continuing to meet her gaze.
“Well…” It was Marceline’s turn to pause. “You aren’t worried about going public? I don’t want to mess up your reputation, or whatever.”
Bonnibel supposed that made sense, but it still hurt. She looked down at their joined hands, and squeezed Marceline's.
“No, I don’t mind going public. I’m just not sure what you want me to say. If you’d prefer, I can keep things unofficial, and we can only tell close friends. Or, I could make a more public declaration. I just want you to be happy." Bonnibel's cheeks burned, and she felt a bit silly, but she hoped she was doing the right thing. Communicating as directly as possible had been going well so far, so what could this hurt?
Marceline pulled Bonnibel in and kissed her cheek. "Let's go public. Tell as many or as few people as you want. It’s not like we’re getting married or anything. I don't mind saying you're my girlfriend."
Bonnibel smiled. "I hope I don't cramp your style."
Marceline shrugged, wrapping her arms around Bonnibel's waist and shifting the princess fully into her lap. "My style's changed in the last hundred years. It's got room for you."
Instead of answering, Bonnibel decided the best course of action was to kiss Marceline. She wrapped her arms around Marceline's shoulders, closing her eyes as she leaned in. Marceline's lips were soft, and she kissed Bonnibel back so sweetly. She had always been passionate, and Bonnibel felt the weight of tension that had been there since the morning melt away.
After a few minutes, Marceline's stomach growled. They broke apart, and Marceline flushed a bit. They both looked at each other, and something about the moment was too funny; Bonnibel couldn't help laughing. Luckily, Marceline laughed with her.
When they had finally calmed down, Bonnibel spoke. "I thought you weren't hungry yet?"
Marceline shrugged. "I didn't want to eat when you were upset."
"Well, we can have some now." Bonnibel carefully used a napkin to pick up one slice of cake, and handed Marceline a few strawberries with her other hand. "I grew these myself, I hope you like them."
"Did you grow them from regular plants, or candy?" Marceline asked, biting into one. "Oh wow, these are good!"
"I grew them from seeds I bought at the market, but it wasn't difficult." Bonnibel smiled, watching Marceline drain a few more of the berries as she spoke. "This kind of bio-engineering isn't much different from candy engineering, though. It's all living mass, and through selective interbreeding of species, you can attain most of the desirable qualities of each one. The only current downside is that they still require sunlight to grow, so you can't move any to your cave. And they've also got a propensity towards root rot, which might be a problem outside of a controlled environment."
"Have you got a notebook with diagrams?" Marceline asked, reaching for the plate. She put down the drained berries and picked up two more.
"I do, I'll show you soon. But first, how was your day? You've been awake for a few hours now, haven't you?" Bonnibel asked, finally taking a bite of her cake. She shifted to sit next to Marceline instead, folding her knees so any stray crumbs would be caught in her skirt.
She listened as Marceline talked about her day, warmth blooming in her chest. Bonnibel already knew the first person she would tell, and she hoped that she would be as keen as Bonnibel was about it.

which fic should i prioritize! (non-poll)
Ok it turns out I cannot make a poll haha. Hi I'm writing bubbline fic on ao3!! I'm having a hard time narrowing down my focus and I'm hoping a little feedback will motivate me. If you have any interest in any of these pls reply or send an ask if you wanna be anonymous (although if @peachpaws0 is the only one to respond then anonymity may not work lol (thank you))
Here are my current WIPs that have a good shot of being finished someday!!! I tried to make like cool teasers which idk they sound silly but I hope they at least get the basics across. Listed in order (top-bottom) of most to least developed right now, but doesn’t necessarily indicate how long I’ll take to finish. All (probably) oneshots and under E rating bc that’s me. Also obvs subject to change but hopefully not enough to disappoint! (Sorry this is so super wordy; I promise I'm better at editing fic than posts lol)
🏝️ (guest starring Hunson Abadeer, all of the Scream Queens, Neddy, Lolly, & Pepp But) — Marceline’s solo tour of the islands leads her to explore a side of her roots she’s been carefully avoiding for a long time. For Bonnie — manager, roadie, and travel companion to the star — roots have never felt further away.
🔇 (guest starring Finn, Neddy, Ash, Jake, Pepp But, Simon) — Contemporary human au set near Christmas. Bonnie, a prosthetist who’s spent the past six years trying to forget her ex, finds it a bit more challenging when Marceline’s new release hits the top of the charts.
🕰️ (guest starring BMO and Finn) —  Marcy and Bonnie mourn the deaths of their favorite humans, decades apart. While Marceline struggles with the incongruity of her young body and ancient mind, Bonnie finds it increasingly difficult to stay nice and pink.
🍬 (guest starring Gumbald, Neddy, Lolly, Chicle, Pepp But, and BMO) — The Punchbowl spills on Tiny Taffy Princess. She won’t stop asking Marceline to dance with her.
🥂 (guest starting Glassboy and STP) — Bonnie and Marcy return to the Glass Kingdom ten years post Obsidian as guests of honor at the updated Molto Larvo ceremony. For Glob’s sake, no one has anything to prove.

Do you have any marcelines mom head canons
Note: It has been. So long, my love. So long. I hope you find this worthy :) Also, this turned into more of a hc of memories/feelings that marcy had regarding her mother, since there’s little canon information to go off of and I don’t want to get off the rails with character speculation. Sorry if this wasn’t what you wanted my dude ;(
Marceline’s Mom Headcanons
You know those moments, as a kid, when things are kinda peaceful for a bit? When you wake up a little earlier in the morning, and breakfast hasn’t really started, but all your family members are individually getting ready for the day and really just working in their own bubble?
While those experiences aren’t universal for all, in the chaotic, too long life that Marceline has gone through, her mother exists in those moments. When the sunshine was strong in a cold morning, and she would catch her mom putting fuzzy socks on so her feet wouldn’t get cold on the trailer floor, or how the smell of one dish would waft through the entire space because it was so small. But god, Marcy missed her mamas cooking. It was so good.
With all that she and her mother had gone through, from living in the desert trailer to being nomads just trying to survive, there was something about her mother that denoted peace. Not all people were meant to be mothers, and even with the relatively short time Marcy had with hers, she knew that her mother was really meant to be a mom, (along with all the other amazing things she was).
Even her name, Elise. Maybe a little traditional, yeah, but what’s wrong with a traditional name every once in a while? Marceline loved the name Elise. It denoted elegance and love and peace, and those were all things she found in her mother. Even when they were hunting through garbage bins just trying to find food during the war, Marcy always thought that mama was so calm. She walked with a pace that looked like nothing could touch her, the sun in her hair made her glow. It was the strength, the will to survive that overpowered anything else. The need to show her daughter that things were ok, even if they weren’t.
For the longest, longest time there was so much anger Marceline harbored for her mother. A couple demonic powers here and there throughout her development, and bam, mama’s gone for good. After learning the truth, however, it didn’t really seem like she could stop crying after she was alone. Look, she loved PB, but any sort of emotional foray like that would probably short-circuit the pink princess. Anyways, it seemed like it was a thing she had to sort out alone, even with how much progress she and Bonnibel had made together in their relationship.
Lastly, there are sometimes where the only way to cure the pure ache in Marcy’s chest caused by the void of her mother is to just meditate on the memories she still has of her. Of how beautifully her short hair framed her face, even after the war when it was kind of messy, or how tired she always looked, but she just kept pushing, right until the very end. Of how she’d try to scavenge for Marcy’s favorite foods first, and give her extra portions and extra blankets when the nights got real cold. Elise was a woman of very kind words and sweet songs, but she was also a woman whose actions betrayed an entire devotion that mother had to her daughter.
The guilt that Marceline feels of almost throwing all of those memories away kind of haunts her more than anything else ever would, all over a misunderstanding. But she also lives with the fact that things are different now, and there’s nothing to do with her mother but remember.

“Anyway, as I was saying. I’m not as smart as you, but I’m starting to think I get why you’re keeping our relationship a secret.” Bonnie turned in their bed so that they were facing each other. “Not a secret,” Bonnie mumbled, “Just taking it slow. Only letting people who need to know know, you know?” Marceline leveled her with a stern look, “Which is why Lemongrab of all people know, but Finn doesn’t?” Bonnie cringed. Or, while trying to tell Finn about the fact that Bonnie and Marceline are dating, Bonnie ends up apologising for all the ways she's hurt Finn in the past - and ends up learning to forgive herself too.

My Bubbline Fic Bonanza!
This post brings together all the Bubbline fics I've written, currently consisting a few parts of my "An Unlikely Alliance Against Evildoers" series. Enjoy!
****
These fics mainly take place on Earth. More will be added as I write them.
"As the Off Colors are about to leave Earth and travel across the universe to discover if the Diamonds have deceived Steven, they receive a message. Steven wants them to serve as ambassadors to Earth. They happily accept, but before this space trek can begin, they encounter a mystery ship which appears in Earth’s orbit! This story was updated on April 5, 2020."
Bonnie and Marcy’s Unnecessary Melee with the Off Colors [Part 20 of "An Unlikely Alliance Against Evildoers] (crossover with Steven Universe, She-Ra, Cleopatra in Space, Samurai Jack, and Revolutionary Girl Utena)
...Many months later, a hearing for Bonnie and Marcy, who traveled a year forward in time, is held in Empire City. One question remains: what will this hearing mean for Cleo, Steven, Connie, and the Crystal Gems, in the days to come?
Cleo’s Choice, Catra’s Resolve, Connie’s New Crush, and the Bubbline Hearing [Part 29 of "An Unlikely Alliance Against Evildoers] (crossover with Steven Universe, She-Ra, and Revolutionary Girl Utena)
Marcy and Bonnie are off the hook for their “crimes” of entering Earth airspace without authorization after the conclusion by the panel. While Bonnie is breathing a sigh of relief, Marcy wants to strike back at the Earthlings for what they did to her and her girlfriend. Steven is first in the line of fire. Will Marcy’s emotions get the better of her or will restrain herself before she tries to turn Steven into a vampire? Will she listen to Bonnie’s reasoned pleas to stop her emotion-laden “revenge scheme”? Whatever the result, secrets will be revealed and people will be brought together in this final chapter of the saga of unlikely loose “alliance” against evildoers, who will go their own ways, as the world and universe are before them, coming together in a celebration of peace...
Marcy's "Revenge," Cleo's Newfound Freedom, and the Beach City Dance Party [Part 30 of "An Unlikely Alliance Against Evildoers] (crossover with Steven Universe, Cleopatra in Space, Kipo, She-Ra, and Revolutionary Girl Utena)
