The ride there was an experience to say the least. Scott drove which meant Jean got shotgun, the rest of you were piled into the backseat. Kurt kept hitting Jubilee in the face with his tail, her hair blew into your face every time the breeze hit, and you were so cramped that you were practically sitting on Peter’s lap. Peter was thankful you couldn't move to turn around, or else you would see how red his face was. He was sitting extremely still too scared to even move. Because if you moved even an inch over, he knew his leather pants wouldn't hide what would form. Scott looked at you guys through the rear view mirror, flashing you a cocky smile. “You guys comfortable?” Jubilee flipped him off while the rest of you grumbled out a no. He laughed and turned back to face the road.
Scott pulled up to a diner and parked, hoping out to open the door for Jean. Kurt wiggled his arm free and opened the door causing you guys to fall out of the backseat. Jubilee fell onto Kurt’s back and Peter ended up falling on you, he caught himself with his hands, you guys inches from one another. You watched his eyes dart down to look at your lips before glancing back up to meet your eyes. You smirked up at him. “If you’re going to pull something like that, at least buy me dinner first.”
Peter felt his face heat up and he started to sputter. You laughed at his flustered state and after a moment he did as well. He liked how casual you were about this and how you were able to joke to ease the tension. He smirked back down at you. “Well maybe after I do buy you dinner we can continue this.” It was your turn to get embarrassed.
“Really guys?” You both looked up to see Jubilee standing with her arms crossed. “Right in front of Kurt.” Kurt was covering his face out of respect for you two and shielding himself behind her. You both turned red and scrambled to get out of the car. Peter let you get up and then hopped out of the backseat behind you. Jubilee pulled you to the back of the group with her and gave your arm a squeeze. “He likes you.”
Peter glanced back at the two of you in between bugging Scott and Jean. He saw you and Jubilee talking in hushed voices and giggling with one another. He felt himself gulp, something told him you guys were talking about him. He caught your eye and whipped his head back around, hoping you didn't catch him staring.
Scott made his way to the front of the group to announce where you were but Peter hip bumped him out of the way. Scott cussed and Peter just sent him a wink and a smile. He turned back to face the group, his eyes locked on you. “Welcome to our favorite diner, Gus’ Games and Grub.” Peter stood at the front of the group his arms held wide open, showing off the diner. You felt yourself smile as you looked around the place, there was an arcade attached to the restaurant, with a prize cabinet and about a million blinking lights and sounds.
“This place is awesome.” Peter watched as you took it all in, his heart swelling at the fact he was able to impress you with his favorite diner.
“So do you guy wanna do for dinner, do you wanna split a pizza or get-”
“Let’s play.” Peter said, cutting off Scott.
“The whole reason we came here was for dinner.”
“No, it was to have fun.” Peter smirked. “Something you wouldn't know anything about.”
“Ooooo.” Jubilee responded as her eyes darted back and forth between the boys.
Scott surged forward but Jean used her powers to stop him, pulling him back towards her by the collar of his sports jacket.
“You guys are acting like children. There is an easy way to decide this.”
“You’re right Jean, battle to the death it is.” Jean rolled her eyes at Peter’s comment.
“Let’s just take a vote. Who wants to eat first?” Jubilee, Kurt, Scott and Jean all raised their hands. “Who wants to play the arcade first?” Peter's hand shot in the air, he sent you a wide smile when he saw you agreeing with him. “Sorry Peter, looks like we’re eating first.” Jean turned toward the counter and Scott sent him a condensing smirk behind her back. Peter stuck his tongue out in response. He didn't care that he lost the vote, he had you on his side.
Dinner was filled with easy conversation and stolen glances. You and Peter kept trying to catch each other’s eye from opposite sides of the booth. He had wanted to sit next to you but Jubilee had beat him to it and she refused to move. As soon as you finished eating Peter slid into the booth next to you as Jubilee got up to throw the trash away. He slung his arm behind the booth and you scooted closer to him, making him blush. He leaned down and gently moved his hand to cup the back of your neck. “Wanna go have some fun.”
“What kind of fun is Maximoff?” You teased, loving the way it made him flush red.
“The best kind there is.” Peter sped off you with you, ditching the other guys as you made your way to the arcade. Peter stood near a dancing machine game and held his hand out towards you with a slight bow. “May I have this dance?”
You curtsied back at him. “Of course.”
You hopped up on the dance floor as Peter put coins in the machine. He used the buttons to scroll through the songs, he stuck his tongue out in concentration trying to find just the right one. He made his selection and joined you on the mini stage. The music started playing and you felt your smile widen. “Oh my god I love this song!”
“Me too!”
You guys turned back to the screen and started to dance, doing your best to coordinate with the colorful arrows on screen. But it was hard to pay attention when you both were too busy looking at one another and singing the lyrics back and forth. You saw Jubilee approaching the machine out of the corner of your eye. She leaned on the bar behind you, Kurt and the others not too far behind. “I was wondering where you guys went.”
“We went to totally dominate this game.” Peter bragged as he scored three bads in a row on the game.
“I can see that.” Jubilee watched as the song ended and the screen showed off your guys' score. It was ranked a D- with a 22% accuracy.
“Man you’re bad at this.” Scott said.
“What like you could do better?”  Peter scoffed as he hopped off the stage offering you his hand. You took it and hopped off as well.
“Watch me.” Scott and Jean took your guys places on the game and inserted the coins to play. You and Peter watched with your mouths hanging open as they scored perfect on every step. The song came to an end and they stared at you guys with matching smirks.
“Okay you so totally did better than us.” You admitted. Peter just grumbled out an agreement.
“Because we are better.” Scott remarked.
“Wanna bet?” Peter asked as he crossed his arms across his chest.
“What kind of bet?”
“Not again.” Jean muttered.
“Whoever wins the biggest prize by the time the place closes gets the keys to your car for the rest of the week.” Peter smirked.
“What do I get?” Scott asked, hesitation in his voice.
“I don’t know what do you want?”
Scott scrunched his face up in concertation for a moment before he answered. Knowing exactly what he wanted if he won. “If I win I get your pac-man machine.”
Peter’s eyes widened, you could see him weighing the risks in his mind. He glanced over at you. He wanted the car so he could ask you out on a date, he wanted to do it right, with a car instead of speeding you somewhere. You gave him a smile and that made up his mind. He turned back to face Scott, a challenging look in his eyes. “I’ll take that bet.”
“Okay so how are we going to do this? Teams?”
“Sounds good to me.”
“So it’ll be me and Jean, you and (y/n) and Kurt and Jubilee.”
“What? Why are we playing? And why do I get Kurt?” Jubilee asked with her arms crossed.
“Hey!” Kurt whined.
“Sorry.”
“It’s more interesting if we all play.” Scott said.
“Plus it’s not like you guys are going to win, it’s either going to me or Scott.” Peter joked and Scott nodded in agreement.
“Really?” Jubilee narrowed her eyes. “We’ll see about that. Come on Kurt.” With that they were gone. Now it was time for the games to begin.
Peter and you sprinted over to the skeeball machines. He put a coin in each one and sped back and forth throwing the ball down the lane, getting the highest scoring points each time. You collected all the tickets, your heart pumping full of adrenaline. You played all the games you could while Peter ran around the arcade beating all the games and winning all the tickets. They made an announcement over the loudspeaker that they would be closing in five minutes, so you and Peter finished off your games and made your way to the counter. Jean and Scott were already there, their ticket pile paled in comparison to yours. Peter opened his mouth to mock them but Jean held up her hand and pointed to the right. You turned and saw Jubilee and Kurt sitting on top of the prize counter. She had three different pairs of sunglasses on and Kurt had about a million scrunchies wrapped around his tail. They were both drinking slurpees, a giant stuffed pink gorilla by their feet. Jubilee lowered her glasses as she took a long sip of her drink. ‘’’Sup losers.”
Peters was gaping at them, glancing back and forth between the giant gorilla and them. “I- huh.. How? WHAT?”
Jubilee held her arms out and slung one around Kurt. “We won.”
“How?!?” Scott asked. “You guys only played like two games!”
“Yeah we won 67 tickets!” Kurt said excitedly. “That’s how we got the sunglasses and scrunchies!” He held his tail up showing them off.
“That still doesn't explain how you won.” You asked with an amused smile on your face.
“My cousin is the manager, I bribed her into giving us the biggest prize.” She pointed down at the stuffed gorilla. “Meet Barbara.” Scott and Peter stared at her with huffy faces getting ready to protest her winning. ‘Hey you never said we couldn't cheat.” Jubilee took another sip of her slurpee.
“Yeah but you still cheated.” Scott argued.
“What like you guys didn't?.” She pointed at Scott and Jean. “I saw Jean using her powers on the basketball machine.” She motioned towards Peter. “And don’t even get me started on this one.”
“Damn you go Jubilee.” You cheered her as she gave a little bow.
“So we win!” Kurt cheered.
“Indeed we do.” Jubilee stuck her hands out in a grabby motion “Keys. Give me.” Scott reached into his pocket and begrudgingly tossed the keys to Jubilee. She caught them with a smirk. “I’ll see you guys in the car, I’m driving.”
You cheered her on as she left. “Never underestimate Jubilee.”
“Agreed.”
“So what are we going to do with all these tickets?” You asked.
Peter took them from you and came back a second later, arms full of prizes. “We can take them home to the kids at the house.”
“That’s so sweet Peter.” He smiled at your praise.
“I uh.. I also got something for you.” Peter set down the prizes in his hands and riffled through them. He pulled out a stuffed turtle from the pile and nervously brought it over to you. You took it in your hands, heart swelling at the action. “His name is Mister Dibbles.”
You looked down at the gentle face of the toy, smiling at it and then back up at peter. “I love him.” Peter gave you a wide smile.
As you guys made your way out of the diner Peter fought with himself back and forth on whether he should still ask you out. By the time he got to the car he had made up his mind. He opened his mouth to ask you but Jubilee grabbed him by the arm and pulled him off to the side.
“You can have the car after tonight.”
“What?” He asked, shock evident on his face.
“You can have the car.” She shrugged. “I know you wanted it so you could take (y/n) on a date.”
“How did you know that?”
“You’re pretty easy to read.” Peter smiled and rushed forward crushing Jubilee in a hug. “Stop that, put me down!” She giggled out.
“Thank you so much.”
“Mhmm and don’t worry I’m not going to take your pac-man machine. But you owe me.”
“Anything.”
“I wanna style your hair.”
“Anything but that.”
“Ugh fine.”
Jubilee and Peter made their way back over to the car. You smiled as you saw Peter getting closer to you. He returned it. “Hey can I ask you something?”
“Sure.”
“Would you maybe… like to.. I don’t know...go out with me?” You felt your face split into a wide smile.
“Of course I would.”

“it makes her think of me, and that night we left our hearts on our sleeves and our clothes all over the floor”
You find yourself releasing yet another deep sigh as your father beckons you from across the ballroom, but you still put in your brightest smile as you make your way through the heavy throng of people, preparing to be introduced to yet another business associate who's name you'll forget way before the end of the night.
"This is my daughter, Y/N"
He was already gesturing and introducing you by the time you made it to the place next to him, and you accepted the hand of the older man standing in front of you.
"Oh she's grown very well, such a pretty girl"
"You aren't the only one to think so, she was recently crowned Queen of the Seoul Pageant, you're looking at a future Miss Korea"
You tried to keep yourself from cringing as your father blatantly boasted about you, hoping the other man would pretend not to notice.
He didn't, instead he did something even worse.
"Oh that's great, my son is about the same age, he just performed his third concert at the Golden Hall of Vienna"
You could see your father controlling his face as to not appear impressed, but when the other man turned around to find his son, you got the pointed look you knew meant 'be better than whatever his child is'.
The man turns back around and you pretend to pay attention while he introduces his son who isn't there yet, the exact same thing your father did.
At the end of his sentence a boy your age approaches, and it might be the first time you've actually been interested in something going on all night.
Because my goodness, he is gorgeous.
"Chenle, this is Mr.Y/L/N"
He shakes your fathers hand and you can't spot a single thing he does that is less than perfect.
"I was just telling him about your concert a few weeks ago"
There's a flicker of something in his eyes and you think maybe he feels the same thing as you, though he quickly recovers into the golden boy he's expected to be.
"Oh I hope you weren't bragging, it wasn't anything that special"
"Now don't be so humble Mr.Chenle, that is very impressive"
You laid on the charm you knew your father wanted, and his short nod of confirmation validated your thoughts.
It seemed that Chenle hadn't noticed you until the words left your mouth, and his eyes seemed to shine when he did.
"You are very beautiful Miss.L/N"
"She's going to be Miss Korea"
You made sure only Chenle could see your small eye roll as your fathers launched into another round of 'my-child-is-better-than-yours".
"How about I get the lovely lady a drink?"
Both of your fathers seem thrilled by the idea, and you weren't going to pass on an opportunity to get away, so you politely nodded and let him lead you away.
"You are an angel, thank you for saving me from that conversation"
He laughed at your immediate character switch, "I hope you weren't there for too long before I got there to save you".
"Doesn't even matter, as long as we're safe now"
He laughed at your dramatic phrasing, walking straight past the bar and towards the front door.
"You wanna get out of here"
"I thought you'd never ask"
He pulled you along with him out the doors, getting his car from the valet and driving out onto the main road.
You inhaled the scent of lemon and new car while you fiddled with the radio, Chenle tapping his fingers on the arm rest while he spoke out loud about ideas of where you could go.
By the time you pull up to some random fancy hotel, you're both laughing to the point of stomach pain, and you don't know why but you had never felt so comfortable with someone so quickly.
"Hello I'd like an executive suite"
You zoned out while he spoke to the woman at the counter, and was only pulled back in when he wrapped his arms around you and yanked you towards his body.
You looked up with wide eyes, but a quick scan of the scene told you what was going on, and your eyes narrowed at where the female worker had her hand still hovering over Chenle's chest, obviously having just been removed from an attempt at flirting. The current contact you had with the boy and the two pairs of eyes on you told you that he had used you as a cover, and he had obviously said something, something they were both waiting for you to respond to.
"I'm pregnant"
They both looked at you, the woman's eyes wide with horror, Chenle's wide with bewilderment, probably at why that was your panicked response.
You looked up to meet his eyes and you both immediately broke into loud laughs, Chenle swiping the key cards from the counter as you both ran towards the first hallway, his hand holding yours the entire way.
When you finally stepped out of the elevator and made it to your suite, there were tears dried on your face from laughing so hard, and Chenle was still teasing you.
"I'm pregnant," his words were once again cut off by his laughter and you smacked his chest as you inserted the card into the door and yanked it open, throwing yourself onto the bed while he came in still laughing.
He tossed himself next to you, turning onto his side and propping his chin on his hand to looks at your face.
"I told her that we had just gotten married and needed a room" he wiggled his eyebrows as you laughed, mirroring his actions as you turned to look at him in the same manner.
"Well I said I was pregnant, so at least she won't get the wrong idea about what we're doing up here"
"Oh yeah? What do you think she's thinking?"
His voice gets softer and he leans in towards your face, to the point where your lips are only centimeters away.
"You know"
"No I don't think I do?"
"The devils tango. The sideways salsa. The no pants dance. Hanky panky"
He had lost it by the first euphemism, but you kept going, although making him laugh that hard while being so close proved to be a bad idea, and you felt his head hit yours before you had the chance to move away.
"I was going to kiss you but after that I don't think I want to"
He barely got the words out between his laughs and you acted offended, although disappointment was the real emotion you were feeling.
"Why? Because I'm too funny?"
"Yeah, uh-huh that's totally it"
He had finished his laughing fit and was able to speak clearly, a smile on his face while he rolled his eyes, continuing his path back to your lips.
You were barely a millimeter apart when your phone started ringing, both of your groans echoing throughout the room while you blindly reached for the device.
"Where are you? I cant find you and Chenle's father seems to not be able to locate him either. You better be making smart decisions. I'll let you go this time but we've got another party next week and you will be there the entire time"
Your fathers voice was loud through the phone, and you were sure Chenle heard every word.
"Ugh" you let out an angry groan as the voicemail finished, throwing the device somewhere across the room.
"Why do they always do this?"
Chenle got a similar text from his father, and now both of you were mad, knees touching as you sat angrily on the hotel bed.
"What do you think they'd do if we just ran away?"
He looked at you in amusement, not a single ounce of surprise in his gaze.
"I've thought about it, leave the city"
"Maybe the country" you added, and chenle let out a melodic laugh, content to sit in some random hotel with you and talk about running away together.
But that wasn't what you wanted right now.
Right now the thought on both of your minds was to make you fathers mad.
“You better kiss me before we get interrupted again”
You don’t have to tell him twice, within a second his lips are crashing into yours, tongues clashing and hands grabbing at whatever they can reach, both of you trying to contain your smiles at the feeling of freedom.
When you woke up the next day the alarm on the side table read 3:00 and a laugh left you mouth as you woke up the boy next to you.
“Chenle we were supposed to check out three hours ago”
His eyes widen but he joins in your laughter anyway, both rushing around the room to locate your belongings.
The same check in lady at the desk from yesterday glares at you as you run through the halls, and since you paid yesterday you thankfully don’t have to speak to her, Chenle just throwing the key card down on the front desk and running with you in his arms towards his car.
He was too busy dismissing calls from his father and screaming along with the radio to notice the way you slipped the other key card into your small purse.
“we both know we can’t open the door no more, but she kept the hotel key”

Champagne Problems
Chapter Three
Masterlist
Tumblr media
Sam eventually went to back to his own apartment around noon, leaving Aelin with plenty of time to focus on her English assignment.  Instead of a final test in English, there was a final paper, and Aelin was struggling with what words to put down.
She knew the book inside and out; the words just were not coming to her today. She could usually just sit at her computer and let the words flow out of her, but that was not happening.  She eventually just went back and skimmed through her outline, getting herself to refocus. She finally gave up a half an hour later and resorted to texting Rowan.
“Want to come over and study.  I’ll order takeout from Emry’s. It will be just like old times.”
The response came only seconds later. “I’d love too, but some of us have class in an hour.”
She could practically here the snort in his reply. “Could you possibly skip this class and study with me instead?”
“I would but it’s the last class before the final, and I need the review.”
“Boo. You suck.” She emphasized with an emoji that was sticking its tongue out at him.
“See you later, Ace :)”She swore he refused to use emoji’s just to spite her.
When she was finally done pouting, she eventually pulled her phone back out to text Lysandra, who easily agreed to come over.  Although Lysandra was not diligent as Rowan when it came to studying and making study schedules, she was better than nothing, especially when Aelin was having trouble concentrating.
She showed up to Aelin’s apartment wearing an oversized fuzzy pink sweater and a pair of black leggings, as well as two chocolate bars.  She might now be Aelin’s favorite person.
She definitely was not Aelin’s favorite person the first time they met, though.  They were both petty and stubborn and got along about as well as cats getting a bath. That eventually changed the march of their freshmen year, when Aelin chased off a shady guy who was trying to follow a very drunk Lys into the bathroom at a frat house. Lysandra had been her constant companion since then, especially when it came to  topics including clothes and boys.
“Hello, Babe,” Lysandra chirped happily as she strode into Aelin’s apartment.  She shrugged off her bag and dropped the candy onto her plush sofa.  Aelin went to wrap her harms around Lysandra who returned the gesture. “I brought chocolate as a study motivator for the both of us, but you already smell of candy.”
Aelin groans. “Shut up.  Sam bought me this perfume, it’s his favorite.”
“Mhm,” Lysandra hums giving Aelin a conspiratorial grin, “I think he like’s that you’re his own personal snack.” Lysandra says wiggling her eyebrows.
Aelin only rolled her eyes at her friend, “whatever.”
“You smell good, babe, just really sweet. Even sweeter than that bath and body works body spray that everyone bathed their selves in in middle school, if that’s even possible. But I think he likes that.  How many times has he bitten your neck when you have been wearing it?” Lysandra asked with further eyebrow wiggling.
“You’re way too into our love life.  How long has it been since you’ve had date?” This time it was Aelin’s turn to wiggle her eyebrows.
“It’s been a while,” Lysandra moans loudly, but she turns her grin back onto Aelin, “but you didn’t answer my question.”
Aelin sighs loudly and slumps back onto her couch. “It’s not like he does it often.”
Lysandra snickers and she lounges next to Aelin. “So, I see it’s getting pretty serious. I even saw the picture he keeps of you in his wallet.”
“In his wallet?” Aelin snorts. “I didn’t think that people still did that. I thought the real milestone of a serious relationship was making a picture of your significant other your home screen on your phone.”
“Yes, you relationship guru.  Are you ready to study now?”
. . .
It turns out that Lysandra was the perfect person to get Aelin to finish her English paper.  About two hours after Lysandra arrived, Aelin had finished her paper, submitted it, and was able to eat her chocolate bar as a reward.  They then watched a shitty romcom on Netflix until Lysandra had to leave for her evening class.
That now left Aelin plenty of time to get ready to go to the Cadre’s for the night. It also gave Aelin some time to harass Rowan about his class.
“How was class?” Aelin texted.
“Good.  Did you finally finish your paper, you demon?  Bribing me with Emry’s and everything.” Rowan replied.
“I finished it and submitted it and everything. I even ate a celebratory chocolate bar without you.” She brags.
“I just wanted you to know that I am rolling my eyes at you.” Was his only response.
“Would it kill you to just use the emoji?” Aelin demanded.
“Yes.” Well at least she had her answer.
“See you at the Cadre’s in a few hours or so?” She inquired.
“Yes,” was once again his only response. Boys, Aelin thought rolling her eyes. What was with boys and their one-word answers.  With that, Aelin pulled up Spotify on her TV to blast some music as she prepared for her night.
She was having fun running around her apartment sing- screaming the lyrics to Teenage Dirtbag as she prepared dinner and tidied up her apartment.  Pop-rock and other angsty songs which she listened to as a teenager, always brought back fond memories.  Her friends always made fun of her emo music in high school, so she decided to switch to some more mainstream stereotypical party music when hanging out with her college friends. The mainstream stuff like Doja Cat and Cardi B, stuff that was always playing loudly at clubs and house parties.
Aelin also had a soft spot for love songs and romantic ballads.  Frank Sinatra always reminded her of her parents spinning around their living room on a weeknight.  She always thought that they were disgustingly in love. Always holding hands and kissing in front of her and her friends.  Aelin now regrets giving them crap about it, especially since the time they had together ended up being cut short.
She ends up eating her frozen pasta dinner over the kitchen island as she hummed along to an old fall out boy song. She went to check her phone and saw a message from Sam which simply asked if she was going to be at the Cadre’s in an hour, she sent back a simple yes as a response and finished up her dinner. Once she was done, she decided that it was probably time to get dressed for the night.
Aelin loved getting dressed up.  She found it calming.  Once she picked out an outfit she would methodically paint her face and do her hair. She scanned her overflowing closet, her gaze gliding over black cocktail dresses, sportswear, blazers, sun dresses, and band T’s.  She decided on a pair of skinny jeans and an oversized concert t-shirt since she just wanted to wear something simple, and the Cadre’s was a fairly run-down dive bar, though Aelin didn’t mind being overdressed, she loved her clothes and wasn’t afraid to show off and look fabulous doing so.
Once she was dressed, she went into her bathroom to do her makeup.  She blended concealer and foundation into her skin, and painstaking lined her eyes with black liquid liner.  She had decided on a classic cat eye with red lips, something you could never go wrong with.   She reached down for her tube of lipstick then remembered that Sam got kind of soppy and romantic when he was drunk and reached for a liquid lip instead.
She then quickly curled her hair and accessed her appearance.  Her skin was flawless, her eyebrows were groomed to perfection, the eyeliner accentuated her blazing blue-gold eyes wonderfully, and her crimson red lips went well with the look.  Her golden hair was voluminous in big beach waves, she overall was pleased with her appearance, especially after spending the entire day in lounge wear studying. It felt good to be put together after a day of lounging around her apartment while trying to write.  Overall Aelin thought she looked hot as fuck.
She quickly pulled on her heeled black booties, grabbed her bag and she was out the door.
. . .
The bar was so loud, the baseline of the song that was playing was all that could be heard.  Lysandra had left the group about an hour in, to go flirt with some guy she had met previously that night and had eventually went home with him, after checking in with Aelin.  Aelin dutifully took down the guys information, with Lys promising to check in with her later in the evening.  That left Aelin to hang with the guys.
They had all gathered tonight.  Sam, Lorcan, Conall, Fenrys, Rowan, and Aelin.  They had all had a few rounds and were now all laughing over stupid shit, even Lorcan, who Aelin didn’t know could even laugh before tonight.
They were all giddy over the thought of finishing the school year.  Rowan, Lorcan, and Sam were all graduating in a week, and Aelin and the twins were officially 75% done with their education.  There was a lot to celebrate and drink to.
Aelin’s thigh was pressed against Rowan’s in the booth as they started arguing over which actor was the best Spiderman. That was the one habit they had kept from the time when they hated each other, the arguing. Rowan and Aelin were known to argue over everything, though now the disagreements were over trivial things and mostly just involved teasing. Rowan was arguing in favor of Tobey Maguire, which Aelin made gagging noises over when he finally confessed as to who her thought the best actor was.
“I’m sorry to inform you,” Aelin started, elbow on the table starring up at her best friends face, “That we cannot be friends anymore.  I simply cannot be friends with anyone who thinks that Tobey Maguire makes a better Spiderman than Tom Holland.  That’s blasphemous, and I will not stand for it.”
“You can’t mess with the original, Ace.” Rowan responds looking serious. “He just cannot be beat.”
“Yeah, Ace.” Conall responds, apparently feeling the need to weigh in on their argument. Rowan frowns at him, no doubt from the fact that Conall called her Ace, which usually only Rowan called her that, with the exclusion of Sam who had recently gone about calling her that. Rowan has always felt a little possessive over the name Ace.
“No, No, No,” Fenrys butts in, his words slurring slightly, “I agree with Aelin. Tom Holland is simply the best. Also, have you seen his lip sync battle?  Tell me Tobey Maguire could pull that off. I dare you.”
“He can’t,” Aelin laughs, “He simply can’t.”
“I also agree that Tom Holland is the best Spiderman.” Sam says with a sly smile.
Rowan frowns at him.  “You’re only agreeing with Aelin because she’s your girlfriend.”
Sam laughs, gets up and slides onto the opposite booth and sits next to Aelin, “No, no one can compete with Holland’s acting chops.” He says as he throws his arm around Aelin’s shoulders.
“There’s only one way to decide then,” Conall says with a smirk. “Lorcan must be the deciding vote.”
Aelin and Fenrys both protest loudly, claiming Lorcan had no taste, and that Lorcan would choose Maguire just to spite them.
Rowan shuts the protests up by turning to Lorcan and asking for his vote.
Lorcan looks sheepishly around before he says, “I actually think Andrew Garfield plays the best Spiderman.”
The group eventually quiets back down, as the night begins to come to an end. Lorcan was the first one to head out, claiming he had a final tomorrow.  Fenrys left soon after, receiving a text from a semi-frequent hook-up asking him to come over.  Conall then convinced Sam to play darts with him, beating Sam every round.  Sam still seemed to be enjoying himself though, laughing every time he missed one of the rings, and once the board entirely. Aelin never understood why bar owners thought it was a good idea to put a dart board in the middle of drunk men with questionable aim, but who was she to question it.
Sam and Conall’s questionable game of darts did, however, leave Aelin and Rowan alone for the first time that night.  Aelin had been missing spending time with her best friend.  It seemed that every time they tried to get together, outside of their morning runs, they were busy or surrounded by other people.
“So, how are you Buzzard?” Aelin asks with a slow smile.
“How are you, fireheart?” Rowan asks, far too seriously for the night they have been having.
Aelin’s heart begins to pound loudly in her chest. He hardly ever called her that, only when he was feeling particularly affectionate.
“All’s good.” She replied, still smiling.  Her heart pounded faster still when his fingers brushed against her cheek.
“An eyelash had fallen.” Was all Rowan said, still gazing at her with an intense stare.
“Oh.” Aelin said, “I hadn’t noticed.”
Rowan only gave her a sad smile as he stood up.  He ended up tripping while trying to remove himself from his seat, which made her burst out laughing.  Rowan, who was usually graceful to a fault, had tripped. He was more drunk than she had initially thought, he must be excited to be graduating.
“Do you need help?” Aelin asked.
“I am fine.” Rowan growled back.
“Are you sure about that?” Aelin asked, trying to hide her laughter. “You seem a little unsteady on your feet.”
“I’m fine, I’m going to head home for the night.” Rowan said, regaining his balance and his usual stoic expression. He grabbed his jacket from where he had been sitting.
“How about you come home with me,” Aelin offered. “You seem a bit unsteady there, Buzzard.”
“I’m fine,” Rowan said again. “I’ll get a cab. Goodnight.” Rowan threw her one last smile, then exited the bar, never bothering to turn back.
. . .
The dreams usually began with a dizzying array of colors, then quickly moved on to flashes of memory. Her heart begins to pound so loudly she can hear it in her head, in her dreams.  Once her senses are overwhelmed with the shadow of memories and the deafening sound of her own heartbeat, is when she would stop breathing. The lack of air is what usually wakes her from her slumber.
Aelin Galathynius quickly padded across the floor of her bedroom to her bathroom, closing the door behind her, where she then vomited into the toilet. She always made sure the door to the bathroom was closed and locked, so Sam could not hear her, or accidently open the bathroom door in the middle of the night to find her lying on the floor next to the toilet.
After Aelin was done emptying the contents of her stomach into the toilet, she slumped down onto the floor.  The cool tile against her back, where her loose sleep camisole did not cover, always seemed to ground her.  The hot flashes, the insanity from the dreams and then the vomiting always began to dissipate once she felt the cool tile against her body.
She laid on the floor for a while, breathing in and out and waiting for her pulse to return to normal. The memories she tried to escape during her day, where always ruthlessly unleashed during the night, pursuing her where she could not escape them. Although she couldn’t escape the dreams and memories, they were significantly better within the last few years, only occurring every once in a while, instead of every night.
Aelin thought back to her freshmen year, where she would drink all night long, or get into fights, just to try to stay awake just a little longer so she wouldn’t have to face what was waiting in her subconscious.  Aelin was good at that, pushing things away, not examining anything too closely in case it might trigger a panic attack.
Aelin would eventually have to get up, brush her teeth and make her way back to bed where her loving boyfriend was sleeping, but she allowed herself to rest for a moment more on the floor.  Though Sam knew what happened when she was eighteen in veiled terms, and through short bursts of vulnerability, she couldn’t get herself to admit to him that she still had panic attacks, and nightmares from her previous years. In fact, the only person who knew she still suffered through them was Rowan.
Rowan was her constant star and steadfast companion when it came to the pain of suddenly losing someone. He was also well aware of the way she tried to deal with it afterward, for that was how they found each other.  They were both so wrapped up in their grief and their own self destruction that they couldn’t see the other person in front of them. When Aelin pulled her head out of her ass, as Aedion called it, and finally called a truce with Rowan, and later became friends with him, is when Aelin realized that they had the same grief festering inside them.  They also had the same self-destructive streak, so they vowed to find their way out of the madness and grief together.
For a moment Aelin wished Rowan was with her, gently coaxing her get up and brush her teeth, rubbing his hand on her back soothingly, waiting for her pulse to slow back down. Rowan always knew how to reach her, how to soothe her.
Aelin slowly got up, and eventually made her way back to her sleeping boyfriend who was unaware that anything had happened. She tried to fall asleep next to her boyfriend, but she couldn’t, she was too busy wishing Rowan was beside her with his soothing touch luring her back to sleep.

Detroit recap 3/8/20
Ok, I promised a couple people a concert review for last night so here goes. Set list, pictures, a couple of videos, and whatever my sleep-deprived brain can remember under the cut.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We (me and @clarwyn and our cousin) got there about an hour ahead of doors, and there were only a couple people outside, which was surprising until we got to the front door and found that they were actually lining people up inside, which was nice! Turned out there was about one full row of people in front of us and we ended up in the second row, dead center. Really, really cool spot—I think closer would have just been harder to see the whole stage.
They are still using the Gypsy intro, which has good energy to it to walk (or run, if you’re Marty) out to. The first song was Dead, which kind of tickles me for some reason. Like ‘Here’s an introduction of what we’re *really* about, folks.’ Then we got the self-titled track, and warmed up our dance moves with Twisting (I can still twist.) We Want a Rock was the first song that hit me hard as a ‘everybody is singing this and I’m singing it and they’re watching me sing it and it’s both weird and good’ moment. I get a lot of those in the second row, apparently.
Tumblr media
They took a talking break and, as usual, were very, very funny. I’m going to get these out of order but I think this was where Flans asked Linnell if he’d been out and done anything that day, and Linnell said he’d basically just napped because it had been a long drive from Chicago. He was happy that he had coffee, which he’d made with a paper towel instead of a filter but it was not bad.  Flans said he’d been out sleeping in public places, and then stressed that he was not a heroin addict. Linnell agreed that they were not heroin addicts but pointed out that “only heroin addicts have to say that. Thank you for coming to our intervention.”
Tumblr media
More Flood tracks next, I thought they followed the feel of the album really closely on Minimum Wage (kind of amazing for a sample-based track). Hearing Aid got some excellent Kaoss Pad action as I recall. All very cool. Particle Man got the Main Squeeze pulled out, of course, and they are using the Sun Ra breakdown (“Triangle Man take off for the planet... Venus!”) and making a proper deal about it; Curt gets to stretch out a little on that one and it’s fun.
Here’s the video I took for StillooB, complete with intro banter: pardon my inability to hold still for this song (I was kind of trying to sing quietly along, in the hopes that there would be a contingent of us in the front who know at least some of the words, because I think that could be as funny for them as the song is to us; luckily my singing isn’t audible on the video!)
youtube
Letterbox was next and that I sang as gustily as I could, even though those are very hard lyrics to keep up with. Somewhere around then I experienced the Linnell Stare (TM) complete with grin aimed at my section of the audience and my second-row concert-going experience was fully complete. Gaaaaah.
EDIT 2: I’m not sure anymore which song they introduced this way, but judging from the setlist is was probably Lucky Ball and Chain; they told us they hardly ever did fadeouts on their albums, and in fact originally could have practically defined themselves as “the band that doesn’t do fadeouts”; however this song would have one.  Flans then told us he had heard a supercut of the endings of AC/DC songs, who also evidently didn’t do fadeouts; he then proceeded to show us on guitar how all the songs ended: *bam. Bam, bam. BAM.*  I looked this up and it sounds exactly how he played it:
https://dangerousminds.net/comments/how_should_we_end_this_hilarious_supercut_of_ac_dc_song_endings
After playing Lucky Ball and Chain, Flans admitted that he couldn’t remember what was next in the set, and while he went over to the music stand on stage right to check, Linnell said it started with a buzzer sound, and also that it was off of Flood (which was obvious, as they were playing a Flood-only set). Clarwyn and I had different but related experiences here, which I shall relate: I heard somebody quietly call out “Hot Cha”, and I was feeling bold enough so I shouted it quite a bit louder. Unbeknownst to me, she had also shouted something, which she told me after was “That narrows it down!” Flans, having checked his set list, returned to the front of the stage and pointed in our direction, saying something like “Oh, hey, talkative girl! I see they let you go out!” I am pretty sure I turned beet-red while frantically looking around me, absolutely sure he meant me (and hoping he didn’t, like, somehow recognize me as the social-media-happy over-submitter-to-their-tumblr I am!) She says she thought he meant her, though. After a couple seconds Flans apologized with a “don’t worry, that was a joke!” and they proceeded to play Hot Cha. It took me the length of that song to stop feeling totally embarrassed, but I managed to get over it by dancing and singing along to everything.
They finished out Flood (except Istanbul), and Birdhouse followed by Road Movie was a good ending, with the added middle verse in Road Movie that nobody seems to know yet (I couldn’t remember it even though I’ve heard it), and then the Flood set was over.  Flans informed us they were going to take a 15 minute break for the next 45 minutes (it was actually about 20).
Set two started as a quiet storm trio set, starting with Music Jail (very nice on acoustic guitar and accordion, plus Marty on the electronic kit). Apparently Flans has been writing “2018” on the set lists to mean 2082, which makes me laugh. (Also the song makes me laugh!) I think this was the one where Marty drummed on Flans’ guitar in a number of key measures with his mallets, and Flans said it was the first time they’d done that live, and it absolutely killed me, especially when Flans accidentally moved to far away and Marty had to really reach. Flans said people might not want to do that with their expensive guitars, and Linnell replied they might not want to do it with their expensive mallets.
EDIT: They introduced 2082 (I think it was this one) with a little segue about how they had tested the song in front of test audiences and found out that people like hyper-violent songs.  They also played Wicked Little Critta in this set and Linnell went back to the Kaoss Pad and keyboard for that, of course. He’s either getting pretty amazingly good at pitch on the Kaoss, or else he’s found a way to modulate the pitch through the keyboard at the same time, vocoder-style (I’m pretty sure I saw him doing the latter).
Tumblr media
The crew struck the stage after the quiet storm to the tune of the Underwater Woman music video, which always kinda chokes me up. Ugh, those lyrics. And that bass line.
Further continuing my tendency to be a little choked up in the second set, they came back and played Wearing a Raincoat (!) next which I have never heard live before and which I have connected to on a personal level since I first heard it, for reasons. Oh man.
Tumblr media
After that, more new and not-quite-new high energy songs followed and I danced my little feet off to Communists and waved my arms to increasing speed to Damn Good Times and sang my heart out to New York City even though I have never been there.
Tumblr media
Curt Ramm played as good an Istanbul intro as I have heard before and we all tried very hard to scream at the right spots. I noticed he wiggles his eyebrows really hard when he’s trying to get us to do that. The Theme from Flood ended the set, which they informed us they had just learned was the optimal length for washing your hands. Flans thanked us for being a good audience, telling us that audiences that weren’t as fun were, in fact, less fun.
EDIT: No issues with the new Arturia MIDI controller, that I saw. Apparently the kinks have been worked out!  Linnell did brag about his new keyboard stand, which he said he got because people had been asking him how long he was going to keep using the old keyboard stand, so he got a new one that looks just like the old one (same color blue, at least, and still looks like a desk!)  He joked that he was storing his sandwiches in it.
They left the stage and we all set about clapping very hard to request an encore. After the usual length of time they came back, and we must have been clapping particularly hard at that point because Flans stopped us and informed us that the whole wait offstage during clapping was a bit of theater that they had instituted long ago so they would not look too nervous by running offstage and then right back on stage, admitting that of course they were nervous so it was all just theater anyway. “But that’s the nature of theater.” He also said something like “we’re asking you to give us something that isn’t actually good for us” which was a very humanizing take on the nature of applause and the performance/audience relationship, I thought.
I approximately died and went to Heaven when they brought out Fingertips for encore #1, and I managed to pull myself together in time to capture it on slightly less mobile video:
youtube
EDIT 3: I get no end of amusement watching the security guard’s face in that video, he does NOT look like he understands what he is listening to at all.
This was followed by Doctor Worm which is so. Good. Live.
Tumblr media
They went offstage again, we clapped them back on, and Linnell asked “was that the full sixty seconds?” Then they played End of the Tour, which I got very choked up in, under what felt like some particularly intense Linnell-Staring, and which I was sure was the end of the show.
It wasn’t! They followed it with The Guitar, which is my absolute favorite thing to see live, period. Only one very tiny keyboard-playing hop from Linnell, like he tried it and decided it was rather too energetic a move at that time of night, but still fantastic. I did not take the same approach and dug for my reserves of bouncing energy for that song, because it was totally worth it.
Clarwyn got a set list from Marty, we grabbed a late fast food supper at McDonalds, got a bit turned around by our GPS and then drove our very long drive home.
Here is Clarwyn’s set list:

*Anon* Hi Vix!! I hope all has been well :) I’m so excited that your requests are open once more. For this could I ask for a scenario with Mirio using the proposal prompt “I’ve been carrying this around for months, waiting for the right moment. And I’ll tell you: there is no right moment. So I’m just going to ask you right now.” Something like Mirio taking their gender neutral!s/o out on a magical date but everything turns out to be a disaster yet they end up having fun anyway! Thank you sm!
*_*_*_*_*_
I had so much more fun writing this than I thought I would. Enjoy!
*_*_*_*_*_
You’re amazing. Did he ever tell you that? Just kidding, he knows he has a million times but you deserve one more. How did he ever get so lucky?
The two of your were high school sweethearts, and for a while there it looked like it was going to be one of those sweet relationships that just didn’t last the change adulthood demanded after you had to go different directions for work. However, fate wouldn’t have it and the two of you wound up together again and, darn it, he was never going to let you get away again.
Romance between you was always more “sweet” than “romantic.” Your laid back personalities, his especially, kind of assured that. It was so easy to just live easier and not take everything too seriously. But this time he was determined to make it special. I mean, your time together was always special; but he really wanted to sweep you off your feet.
He had the ring - a right sparkly little number but still with as much personality as you had - and he had a plan. He had told you ahead of time he wanted to take you on a special Valentine’s Day date (a first for the two of you since the holiday was usually more trouble than it was worth the day of) and told you to dress up for a nice restaurant he was taking you to. You seemed to accept the offer easily enough without seeming suspicious, so now he just had to make sure everything happened perfectly!
First was picking you up with a surprise bouquet of flowers. The only problem was that despite all his efforts to reserve one (a dozen roses - nothing less than top tier chick flick stuff) well in advance to make sure one was available, that day the florist called ahead of time and told him that due to an issue with shipment (they suspected a tousle in the street with a villain) there were no roses at all and offered him either a full refund or an arrangement with whatever flowers they had available and a tiny box of chocolates at no extra charge. Like hell he was showing up at your door without flowers so he took the latter option. At least he could get you some chocolate.
He had bouquet in hand when he rang the doorbell, dressed to impress in his tailored suit for you. When you answered the door he was naturally smitten all over again. You looked incredible, and he was fast-forwarding in his mind to the moment he would ask you, but he couldn’t give that away just yet.
“Hello, hello, my absolute favorite-est person in the world. You’re looking fine as always!” He spread the flirty compliments on thick with a wink.
“And you look particularly fetching yourself. Are those for me?”
He presented the flowers, really just a glorified tiny assortment of daisies and other common blossoms, with a flourish and inclined his head. “They’re for you, all right, and you better like them. I had to raid an old-people’s home and beat a bunch of old ladies off with a stick to get enough of these!”
“Oh, well in THAT case I love them!” You indulged the banter as you let him inside. You set the flowers in a vase and munched on the chocolates while he gave a general rundown of everything he had planned for the evening. Not only was he taking you to a fancy dinner, but he also had tickets to a orchestral concert as well. He conveniently left out the part where he planned to pop the question in the hedge maze garden on the theater grounds as well. It was quite the night planned, and when you asked him what the occasion was he only said,
“Valentine’s Day! It’s supposed to be extra special, right?” He said it so convincingly that you dropped it and went along without question.
Then disaster struck again as you made your way to the transit for dinner when an adorable but much-too-friendly dog caught sight of you as you rounded a corner and decided to make friends. Did we mention it was a huge dog? He slobbered a lot, too. Mirio managed to put himself between you and the beast to save you but not before his jacket paid the ultimate price, covered in drool and mud and torn in a couple places. The good boy’s owner was embarrassed and apologised for him, but you both assured them it was fine though that jacket would have to pass on dinner.
“Maybe we can get you another one on our way there! There’s a shopping mall en route, right?”
“Thanks, babe, but I don’t think it’s a good idea. The trains are already packed, and that hiccup left us an even smaller window than we had. But check it out!”
Mirio slung his jacket over his shoulder and hooked it on his finger. Striking a pose, he looked like he was modeling for a magazine. “It looks intentional if I just,” he gave a flip of his hair, smoothed it back with his free hand, and wiggled his eyebrows. “Play it cool.”
It was a good giggle out of the two of you, but he was right, time was tight and cleaning up that jacket enough for even that trick to work was cutting it close. Nevertheless, you approached the restaurant just in time. Sauntering up to the maître d’ Mirio adjusted his tie while you hung onto his arm. “Table for Togata, please.”
The uncomfortable twitch in the corner of his mouth and the underlying apology in the man’s eyes made both of you waver. “I am sorry, sir. It seems that we don’t have any available tables at this time.”
“Ahaha…” Mirio gave a nervous chuckle. “What do you mean? I reserved this months ago, even got a confirmation and everything-” he was reaching for his phone to undoubtedly prove his claim, but the man held up his hand and explained.
“I don’t doubt you, sir; but it seems that someone at the last minute reserved the entire venue for the rest of the night and our manager honored it. Though I understand the immense inconvenience, I’m afraid there is nothing I can do.”
Who in the hell kind of jackass barges into one of the most sought after fine dining establishments around and decides he wants to kick out every other patron because he can… and what idiot manager would just let him?!?! This poor guy clearly looked like he was at his rope’s end about it himself and handed Mirio a business card with both hands and a bow.
“May I offer that at your nearest convenience you call this number and provide them with your reservation. We would like to extend a complimentary lunch as an apology.”
Mirio looked all kinds of miffed, but a light nudging from you calmed him down long enough to let his more heroic tendencies take over. Whoever the manager was, this guy looked pretty fed up with him too. “Thank you, sir. I’ll be sure to.”
The look of relief on his face was palpable. “The pleasure is all mine. I wish the both of you have a wonderful rest of your evening!”
“We will, thank you!” You turned and set out to go disappointed, but hoping to keep the atmosphere bright, you said over your shoulder with a grin. “Spill a glass of wine over that asshole for me, will you?”
The maître d’ didn’t give any response, but you caught how he quickly covered his mouth and averted his face as if trying not to laugh.
*_*_*_*_
“Don’t be so down, Mirio. At least you got a free lunch out of that fancy-schmancy place!”
The noise Mirio made in the back of his throat despite his failed attempt at a smile made it very clear he was still quite sore about the loss. “Yeah, but I was gonna treat you to a dinner good enough for you to brag about the rest of the year!”
You were trying to cheer him up, but even you were pretty bummed about it. You knew he was taking you somewhere nice, but you had no idea that was the place he had in mind - and the fact that he had to make the reservations so far ahead! He was doing his darndest to make this special for you, and you felt bad about it.
“Let’s just go somewhere else before the concert instead, ok? I’m sure there’s plenty of good places with seats available!”
He raised an eyebrow and gave you a look with a crooked smile. “Yeah, we’ll go get something else; but it IS Valentine’s Day. Something tells me anything nicer than a hot pot place is booked to the gills.”
“That’s fine! I like food!” You offered your best smile. He couldn’t help but reflect it back.
“Ok, then. But nowhere very messy or with a lot of grease. You dressed so nicely I don’t want your clothes getting dirty before the end of the night!”
You poked his arm that still had his jacket slung on it. “Aw, but then we’ll match!”
“Shut up!”
The two of you settled on a small Japanese-styled eatery and still managed to enjoy a great dinner together. The two of you sat at the bar and talked to the chef all the way through the meal. Mirio talked about how you two had met and how long you’d been together, and he talked about his family and wife. The man was even kind enough to give you a free dessert after hearing what had happened at your first restaurant of choice. Maybe it didn’t have a single Michelin star, but it was still great.
Now it was on to the theater.
The evening’s earlier hiccup had all but been erased from your memory as the two of you cheerily chatted on the train ride there. Yet, the atmosphere was once again broken as the train came to a halt and the conductor’s voice rang across the PA.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we apologize for the delay but we unfortunately won’t be able to stop at our destination due to a gigantic villain attack in the vicinity. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.”
Mirio groaned and threw his head back in frustration, “Come on! You’ve gotta be kidding me!” It was one thing to miss the concert he had payed for, but an attack meant he couldn’t even take you to the grounds like he planned. Literally everything he had in mind was being pulled out from under him.
You had a hard time watching him put his head in his hands at his foiled attempts. you set a hand on his shoulder and tried to console him. “Hey, we can just go home and call it a night. Just curl up with a movie and some ice cream or-”
“No!” This was it. The universe was conspiring against him, but ol’ Mirio Togata never got anywhere in life by rolling over and giving up. “I wanted this date to be special, and by golly it’s gonna be. Where do you want to go?”
The energy he showed didn’t surprise you, but the question did. You expected to just follow his lead tonight, but it looked like now the ball was in your court. “W-well, let’s see…” You hated seeing all the money he must have spent tonight go down the drain, so you wracked your brain for anything cheap and fun to do, if not free.
“Let’s go to the park.”
“The park it is!” Mirio raised a determined finger in the air despite the looks from the other passengers at his behavior. Nevertheless, he was filled with a newfound energy and the two of you made your way to the nearest park on the way back home.
And how glad he was to have taken your suggestion!
It wasn’t like you were the only couple at the park, but the air was fresh and the street lights gave off a dreamy glow in the night. Even in the middle of the park a proper rat pack style band had set up shop next to a water fountain crooning to the other guests who would stop by and slow dance to the music - just like the two of you.
“I’ve got you under my skin ~ I’ve got you~ Deep within the heart of me…~”
It was like the world around you had melted away, or at least hushed itself, for just a while and let the two of you finally enjoy each other’s company unhindered. As you danced cheek to cheek on the paved walkway you talked only loud enough for the two of you to hear.
“That theater was pretty close to the train station, right? Maybe you can call them up and get a refund after all with the villain attack and whatnot.”
“Ah, I’ll worry about it later. It’s not a big deal.”
“I know you just wanted tonight to be special.”
“Yeah, yeah I did. Would you be mad if I told you I had one more event planned for tonight?”
“Is it going to backfire on you, too?” You joked at him.
“Well…” He gave a nervous chuckle. ““I’ve been carrying this around for months, waiting for the right moment. And I’ll tell you: there is no right moment. So I’m just going to ask you right now.”
Smoothly he pulled the little ring box he’d been carrying in his pocket all night, and in one clean motion knelt on one knee and presented the ring in his hand.
“(Y/N), will you marry me?”
For all intents and purposes you really should have seen this coming, but nevertheless the question seemed to come out of thin air and catch you off guard. “Mirio…!” You held your hands to your chest in surprise.
Though it was only a couple of seconds, the pause felt like a lifetime to him, and admittedly he was sweating. “So am I 0 for 4 tonight, or- oof!”
He didn’t get a chance to finish with your arms around his neck giggling over him. “Yes! Yes, I will!”
The two of you held each other sweetly as the crown around clapped and cheered for you two. The singer of the band even joining in and saying, “It looks like this next one is dedicated to the happy couple!”
The people around began regrouping and dancing once again, and the two of you joined in. A small tap on Mirio’s shoulder caught him off guard and a hushed voice spoke up, “Congrats man, but you totally stole my thunder tonight!”
He could hear the joke in the guy’s voice, but Mirio still shrugged, “Sorry, dude. Something had to go my way tonight. Better luck next time!”

My Baby Does Me: Chapter 21
POV: John Deacon x reader
Notes: Masterlist? Hella. Want to be tagged, let me know. Requests? “I’d do anything for attention” -Roger Taylor, blind love of my life, probably
Warnings: Swearing?
Abstract: Jim gives reader the business; reader discovers John has a dragon on his back.
Passion was fire. God, it was so trite, but that didn’t make it any less true. You and Deacy were fire. Everything about last night, and the dawn had be as close to perfection as was possible. So fantastic those moments had been you didn’t want to leave them behind let alone stop playing them through you mind. You were sweaty; the bed was sweltering. This was a satisfied feeling, though; the sweat had been well-earned and the heat was worth it. You had forgotten how sleeping next to someone else was a warm business. You had dreamed of fire, though, which hadn’t helped you feel any cooler. Coldness wasn’t anything you’d feel anymore, you keenly figured. Not with the Sahara Desert sleeping on top of you. For such a lanky man, he certainly knew how to keep warmth in every pocket, in every curl of his hair: the man was hot.
You had been mirage-hot while making love with Deacy early this morning, that was for sure. You were blurry with excess and shimmering with candid vulnerability only sex can bring; transparency mixed with tender affection, honest joy, and blunt curiosity. Without qualification, the sex you two had had today had been the most sexually fulfilling experience of your entire life; it was more than your base compatibility with each other, which was easily second to none, you thought. It was the compassion and care Deacy had put into every touch, every sound, and every word of the the entire encounter. Of every encounter, really, since you had met last night. Every action Deacy took was full of meaning. Maybe he wasn’t always transparent about his intentions, but you could tell every whisper to every yell from him was painted with great detail and precision. Each gesture wasn’t just a movement, but a carefully planned moment posed to capture something intimate within his mind.
You couldn’t understand how the next day had arrived already. Last night, the dawn, seemed to have lasted an eternity. You weren’t even sure you could call the dawn today since it felt like a million years ago; time had stretched itself out for you, pausing, halting once more like it had when you had first caught Deacy staring at you. Time was something that happened to other people, yet again. Yet here you were, in some hazy time of the afternoon? Maybe? You weren’t sure about anything regarding time anymore. It was suddenly an elusive concept, slippery and mysteriously dismissive. You felt Deacy sleeping in your arms; the bassist dozed peacefully, breathing with a rhythm all his own. Random snores popped up like fireworks on delay, or like a beat he couldn’t catch up to--it was adorable. He’s right here, you thought, in my arms. He’s here. He’s here.
Each time you heard your self-doubt attempt to climb up to the surface of your mind, you hit it back with the surety of his body in you arms, with the sting he had tied to your wrist, with the vivid flashes of feeling him inside you, with the softness of his kisses. You were absentmindedly tracing shapes on his shoulder, his forearm, his elbow. All rather supple while simultaneously being bony or pointy. There was something about his body that was more sharp angles than meaty muscles; except for his arms, those were toned from constant base-playing, you figured. People don’t think about the constitution it takes playing instruments; your arms or legs are held in the same position for a song, or a two hour concert and you can’t just stop when you’re tired; you had no idea how Freddie did it, to be honest. You imagined him running around stage, still being able to play the piano, and still being able to sing: he was a fucking miracle. Even something as simple-seeming as playing the bass could be tiring by the end of a concert; sore fingers, stiff muscles, bleeding blisters... really it was all a wash of miserable pain tempered with the tremendous payoff of performing one’s art for thousands of people. That energy transference makes it worth it; give as good as you get, and the audience would repay all your struggles and unyielding perfection with undying appreciation, adoration, and outright obsession. All the things every rock-star craves in one form or another, whether or not they’re willing to admit it. As a budding musician, you felt the same pull to create and share your work, and you wondered if you’d ever be as lucky as they are in having the capacity and audience to share it.
Deacy shifted slightly in his slumber. His spine was more interesting to you, if you were being honest. You could feel each bone segment under your fingers, and it reminded you, oddly, of your piano. You wondered if you could play him similarly, and what it would be like to compose on him. This image wouldn’t leave your mind; some tenuous, tender newborn deer of a kernel of an idea was taking form in your mind: he was your piano. Maybe he was everything you loved about music, distilled into a body, in a man walking upright in the world; you couldn’t hold music, it was esoteric, too powerful to grasp, but Deacy contained melodies in his lizard body, and you could hold him, were holding him. The notion was making your head spin, but you knew something profound was taking shape.
The sun was blazing through the open window of your bedroom. Your curtains were barely moving in a tired breeze. They waved at you reassuringly. Good morning, they seemed to say to you. We know all about last night, girl. Good for you. You loved the wind, and wished for a blustery day to take the heat away. However, lack of wind wasn’t the reason why you were warmer than normal. It was the body heat. All the body heat. The body heat of the man sleeping on you, with his arms splayed near you, breathing softly nestled into your chest. John Deacon was warm, comforting, and heavy. Why wasn’t he wearing a wristwatch, you wondered? You needed to check the time, but that meant moving, or waking Deacy up from his endearing slumber. You should have kept the clock on the bed instead of tossing it on the floor last night. You played yourself, you thought.
You would have to try and reach for it without waking him. Not an insurmountable task, surely. We’re not talking Everest here. Just bed to floor reaching. Why couldn’t you have been a ballet dancer instead of a musician, you wondered. Surely with that level of flexibility and grace this covert sting mission could be easily accomplished without waking the fantastic man on top of you. It was painful being so close to successfully landing a task and then failing it outright. This must be what runners feel like just failing to break the ribbon with their bodies, watching someone else do it, wishing you were them. All sweat and personal resentment. Your arm was stretching to capacity, your fingers were wiggling as if to summon by magic the alarm clock to your hand. Fingers outstretched, arm aching, you shifted closer to the edge of the bed, a movement, while deftly quiet, and somewhat surprisingly skilled, managed to wake Deacy. Well, he wasn’t a heavy sleeper by any means.
He turned his neck, rubbing his sore muscles, yawing. He saw you, then, reaching beyond the bed for the clock. Frozen, you appeared to be caught in the act, though what you had been caught doing was quite innocent and utilitarian. This simple tableau filled his heart with homespun elation, and he coveted your comedic timing. He found himself once again returning to the notion that he could get used to this, waking up next to you, surprised and content at seeing what you were trying to get away with while he slept. Deacy was the lightest sleeper he had ever encountered. It was essentially impossible to get away with anything when you were dating a light sleeper. This fact didn’t stop Roger from trying. Roger’s main goal during tour was perfecting the art of waking Deacy up as often as he possibly could using the most random and quietest techniques known to man. He was sure Brian had a journal documenting the whole enterprise. Deacy smiled; he loved them all so entirely, so purely.
“Good morning, Y/N.” Deacy happily reached down for the clock and brought it up for you. It was a simple, fluid motion that caused him no effort. He kissed your forehead, and craned his neck, searching for his clothes and coffee.
“Hello, Deacy.” You said, mock-irritated at his helpful display. You patiently watched his body twist and turn as he stretched and ruffled his auburn hair. He was oddly elegant, weirdly graceful: swan-like, you thought.
You looked at the clock.
11:50AM, it said, winking red-ly back at you.
“Oh no,” you exclaimed. You had never slept so late in your entire life--this wasn’t an exaggeration. You were obsessed with perfection regarding your musicianship, which meant practice, practice, practice. You had the right to brag, though, because of it; you were second to none at Oxford.
Deacy was halfway through putting on his red jeans; he was fully half dressed; in a way that let you know a lot about him: he had stopped halfway through putting on his pants because he wanted to put his shoes on and finish those off before progressing upwards with buttoning of the pants. Quirky, to be sure, cause for dismissal, nope.
Pausing once more with his buttons, smiling slyly, Deacy said, “Well, if you insist; I can get squeeze you in again before leaving.”
You grinned at him, shaking your head at him, lovingly so, only somewhat annoyed at his determination in the face of your pressing problem, being: “No! I’m going to be late for my lunch with Jim. And I wanted to make a good impression on him.”
“Jim is a stickler for punctuality.” Deacy said while buttoning his pants. “However, you wouldn’t have gotten the invitation if you hadn’t already made a good impression on him; he’s...terribly choosy with whom he shares his time. How fast can you get ready? I can give you a ride there then you’ll only be late peripherally.” He waved his hand at the word, like it was a catchall excuse for any indiscretion. Deacy was only somewhat disappointed at wasting the opportunity for morning sex; like you, he couldn’t stop replaying last night’s greatest hits through his mind. Though, the chance to linger with you during the ride to Garden Lodge was a fantastic alternative bonus.
“Shit!” You said in response, grabbing clothes at random from the bottom of your closet.
You slipped a black bra on, then started buttoning a black blouse. It was easy cotton, feminine, short sleeved. Embellished with floral embroidery on it you had done yourself; deep plums, fantastic oranges, emeralds; large and sweeping flowers, not small dainty pinpricks. The scoop from the neckline was deep and showed off your chest in a pleasing manner that still left much to the imagination, while giving a clear idea of the coming attractions.
Deacy watched you button your shirt intently. He paused mid-button of his own vividly blue button-down; happily gazing at you, he felt himself instantly wanting to undress you from it, and wishing you were doing up his own buttons. The flowy shirt wasn’t tight but showed off your body nonetheless; it was prim while being coyly sexy; the paradox wasn’t missed by him. You began putting on simple, sheer white tights, that made your skin porcelain-colored and delicate-looking. Deacy watched you glide into a shiny white leather skirt, tight but flaring at the knees ever so slightly. You tucked your blouse into it unthinkingly. The ensemble was loud and silently understated.
Deacy came up behind you, fully dressed, and slid his hands on your waist, then into your waistband. He carefully re-tucked your shirt into your skirt—you had missed a section in your haste. Neatly folded into your skirt, he traced his hands up your back to your shoulders. He kissed the back of your neck. This clotheshorse, while attracted to clothing, was also attracted deeply to the idea of perfection in the presentation of any garment. Clothing was art, clothing could be a con, it could get you wanted or keep you from it just as easily.
You turned around and kissed him full on the lips. The thoughtful gesture tugged at your heart, not fulling knowing his deep passion for such things, it just seemed sweet and considerate; not that he didn’t care about your presentation, but sometimes, frequently, our own desires trump our own seemingly pure motivations. Pulling away you put your large angled glasses on, and grabbed a golden layered necklace. You sat and put on a pair of Cognac-colored oxfords. You ruffled your haphazard dark hair; it would look messy no matter what you did to it anyway. Thick, but unruly; Lydia would know how to fix it just right. You frowned slightly.
“You look exquisite.” Deacy said, smiling at you as he stood by the door to your bedroom. You had used the word this morning under different circumstances, and it was like it belonged only to you both now; something in its definition meant something entirely new, beyond its original meaning and usage. It was your word, now.
“You’re not so bad yourself,” you said raising a cocky eyebrow at him. “Didn’t you have a necktie?”
“Yes. I was thinking of just leaving it here.” He was trying to sound nonchalant, like maybe you wouldn’t have noticed, or maybe it would be the start of another game you’d play, and he’d have the upper-hand, and was failing spectacularly on all accounts.
“Fine by me,” you said, trying to hide your shyly pleased smile, and also failing spectacularly at accomplishing this.
“About tonight,” Deacy said, ushering you out the door of your room; the man could keep time, that was for sure.
“Wait—” you said. You veered off to another doorway and turned the lights on in a licorice-colored bathroom. You began brushing your teeth and checking your face in the mirror.
Even the sink and antique tub were black, which Deacy found oddly charming and classical. There was a twist going on here; the ceiling was white, ivory, maybe? Tiles had small ivory circles linking each black square.
“It’s like a harpsichord, right?”
“That’s what I thought, too!” You slapped Deacy’s arm in your excitement. When we moved in, that’s exactly what I thought. We’re one brass candelabra away from a smashing Baroque party.”
“I’ll bring you an electrical one; we can install it over there, I’d reckon.” He was pointing at a wall sconce that was fairly disappointing; it seemed like an afterthought considering the rest of the decor about the room.
“You were saying?” You asked around your brushing. “About tonight?”
“Can I pick you around 7:00? I’d rather be right on time for this than early. We must make a show of being in control; arriving too early for this seems like a show of weakness.”
“Absolutely,” you said, trying to not think about the recital you should be practicing for, and suddenly very curious just what this business dinner was about. “What should I wear?”
“It’s casual. Nothing serious required.”
You offered him your toothbrush. You had had sex; the jig was up on certain personal boundaries or lines of decorum.
He smiled at the small, deeply intimate gesture, and took you up on your offer. He splashed cool water on his face after he was finished. He skillfully worked his wet hands through his spirally hair.
“Right,” he said, checking his appearance one more time, “let’s get you to Jim before he bars the gates on us both.”
You laughed and took his hand in yours. You walked down the hallway together, curious if Lydia was still sleeping or still home. The hallway’s wallpaper was golden fans, reaching up to the ceiling. Bright greens and blues colored the elaborate, chiseled lines of the paper, and those colors bleed onto the ceiling, making one feel as if they were underwater when the sun was sizzling and heavy. Ripples of light permeated the hall, and it was gloriously distracting; Deacy didn’t know where to look or how to look away from it.
You grabbed your purse from the small, spindly shelf by the front door and scooted Deacy from your apartment; he had been curiously peering this way and that trying to take in as much of your home as he could. It was as if he felt he could see through the closed doors of the hallway, when it was clear he couldn’t, and wanted nothing more than to open each door and seek the next colorful explosion within. It was all vintage inspired and lush with color, ripe with insightful eye decadence. Everything about it smacked of artists and art. It was obvious two very creative individuals lived here, who valued the outer expression of their inner desires and artistic spirits. Deacy was attracted to the sweeping colors and Art Deco flares of the architecture; he was acutely curious how two college-aged women could afford such a small, yet stylish apartment, adorned with such rarefied tastes. He wanted to take hours to explore your home, and the colors and trinkets hiding within, but you were in a hurry, and so the rooms flashed by in pinwheels of color too varied and bright to place at such determined speeds. He couldn’t get enough of your home or you; though he desired to linger, he knew you had a prior engagement and that you were, if nothing else, a woman of your word. Nothing or no one would stop you from making it to your lunch date with Jim Hutton.
Walking down the five story walk-up filled you with memories of your ascent the night before. You and Deacy had played a most attractive game that made the usually lugubrious trek upwards entertaining and undeniably hot. You doubted you’d ever be able to walk these stairs without blushing at the remembrances of things past. You kept thinking of his hands. His lips. His voice in your ear. His breath.
“Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” You asked, attempting to spark his own memories, maybe even negotiate a blush out of him.
Deacy paused on the third floor staircase, and pulling you to him, said, “Without a doubt, as long as you mean to say to you spread out on that landing behind us…”
He wasn’t blushing. His green-gray eyes pierced yours; it was a challenge.
“Right,” you said, blushing.
“It’s okay,” he said, squeezing your hand reassuringly, “We can, if you’re willing, go to my home tonight. Less staircases to be risque in since neither of us can control ourselves.”
You smiled up at him, “I’d like that.”
He kissed you quickly, and you both started down the stairs once again. Whipping colors of lilacs and saffrons and teals fanning out behind your every step.
Outside, John Deacon flicked his keys from his pocket, unlocked your door, then his own. He started his green Mercedes-Benz; smiling at you, put her into gear and drove off towards Garden Lodge.
“What kind of mysterious plans do you have for the rest of the day?” You asked, genuinely curious at what the day-to-day life of Deacy looked like. You had a hand resting on his knee, not trying to be distracting, but more because you were having problems keeping your hands to yourself. This was going to be a problem, but what a problem to have, you figured.
“I try, when I’m home, to not make too many plans. When we’re touring everything is so formally booked and prearranged; it is maddening. I might get groceries, read a book. Nap. Skydiving?”
“The whole gamut, then?”
“Precisely.” He laughed. “Jim is one of the best people I’ve ever met.” Deacy offered after a relaxing silence.
“I don’t know him very well--I don’t know any of you very well, yet--but I had the same impression of him.”
“He’s thoroughly dedicated to Freddie; I admire and respect that about him. That kind of partnership means a great deal to me.”
“I can see that,” you said, gliding your hand through the passing air outside the car. The top was down, and you hair was billowing in the wind, and you felt beautiful and enviable, even. You wondered if people passing by seeing you were curious who the young woman with John Deacon was. How could they not? He was recognizable and attractive. And the man was driving a green car, for fuck’s sake. Flashy and hard to miss, but only on his terms.
Faster than anticipated, you arrived at Garden Lodge. Deacy came around to your side of the car, and helped you out into the sunny day. “Let me show you in?” His eyes were sparkling in the light.
“Absolutely,” you took his arm, considering the sad idea you’d wake up soon and this would all be a dream. The balloon string, you thought. You touched it, and remembered the promise you made Deacy. That string would be your anchor.
He took you back through the garden gate, the delphiniums whispered to you in deep blues and alluring purples. Deacy opened the door, and walked you into the kitchen.
It was the only room of the entire colossal home that seemed sleek and modern. Perhaps it was all the appliances, or the silver and red color scheme; for whatever reason it felt like something from a pulp science fiction novel.
“Jim?” Deacy shouted into the room.
“I swear if that’s you, Roger Taylor, you need to sober up someplace else.” Came Jim’s voice from the adjoining room. “We’ve been here before, what with your drunken shenanigans. Not today. I’m expecting a guest.” Jim’s hand entered the room first. It was pointing, powerfully and scrappily at the door you had just entered from; it was the gestural equivalent of back off, go right back where you came, get out. The rest of Jim emerged through the shockingly yellow dining room. He wore a grey v-neck, and the most unexpected pair of extremely wide-leg slate blue satin pants.
He saw your eyes stuck on his pants, which left little to the imagination, but fit perfectly, as if they had been tailored to him; he shook his head at you, and sighed; that sigh said he didn't want to get into it right now.
Jim smiled at Deacy, who stood next to you, as close as he could get, carefully not touching you while appearing to “accidentally” brush up against your hand, or shoulder, or leg.
“Well, aren’t you a sight for sore eyes.” Jim said, taking your hands and pulling you into a generous hug.
Letting you go, he reached over and kissed Deacy on the cheek. Jim looked between you two, trying to guess the landscape of your night after leaving the party. He had some ideas; your body language said a lot: you were trying to be respectful of Jim’s presence, and not fuck each other right here in from of him. You both were entirely in sync, even breathing in unison. It was grotesque and cute all at once.
“Thank you for escorting Y/N here, Johnny. You can go now.” With a wave of his hands, he dismissed John Deacon. Jim slipped an arm around your waist and began dragging you into the dining room without further ado. You had no say in this anticlimactic goodbye.
You looked back to see Deacy grinning at you. He gave you a quick wink before retreating out through the garden. He didn’t seem the least bit concerned, in fact, knowing Jim, he probably suspected something like this occurring.
“Tea? Coffee? Biscuits?”
“Yes, please!” You said, sitting at an ornate dark-wooden table. It felt medieval, and did not match the Japanese-inspired decor of the rest of the room. This was place for feasting, and so it needed to be hardy, robust, striking. The yellow paint was so cheery, it was impossible to not smile in the room. Geisha fans adorned the walls, no doubt given personally to Freddie by the beautiful painted artistic goddess of Gion themselves. Delicate sake sets rested the in too English built-in shelving of the room. Various dishes with ornate Asian inspired patterns graced the shelves, too. A huge jade dragon statue rested on the floor, casually, just hanging out, though it must have cost an actual fortune. On the other side of the room a giant jade tiger guarded the exit to another room. A vibrant series of kimonos depicting the sky at various times of day and night hung on the wall; it utilitarian art in its best representation. A crystal chandelier hung above the table; you wondered how many chandeliers Freddie and Jim had in this marvelous place.
“Now,” Jim said, pouring you a cup of tea, “let’s get down to business.” He passed you the turquoise-colored cup, and continued to pour one of his own. He placed the plate of biscuits between you two. You sat, not across from each other, but nestled around one of the corners of the black table.
“I was born ready, Jim.” You smiled at him behind your teacup.
“How good was the sex?” It was a casual question, especially innocent-sounding in his Irish accent.
You put your teacup down, giggling and blushing as brightly red as the kitchen.
“That good?” Jim put his teacup down, too. His voice had an edge; not unkind, not supportive, but curious against his will now, and doubtful, maybe?
Did he think you were lying? You couldn’t tell just by his tone, but something about it was suspended, mistrusting.
You nodded in response, sure your voice would easily betray your inner suspicions.
“I was honestly just guessing.” Jim said, looking concerned and meekly hopeful all at once. He sounded unsure of what to say next, “I mean, I’m gobsmacked at the notion.”
You leaned in, you and Jim already had a great rapport, like two old friends, swapping the stories of the day. “Why so? I feel like it was pretty clear to everyone at the party we were unreservedly into each other.”
“I’m sure blind people knew you were heading in the same direction, so to speak. I mean, he even threatened Roger away from you, which was also shocking, honestly. Funny and shocking.” Jim smiled at the memory of Roger’s expression at being told to back away from a woman by Deacy. Priceless.
“I’m not surprised you had sex,” he elaborated. “I am surprised he was able to this soon.”
“What do you mean?” You asked, curious against your will; everything appeared to be in perfectly working order.
“Oh, I don’t mean his dick, dear.” Jim waved at hand at you. “More that he really hasn’t been actively or passively having anything with anyone for an embarrassingly long time, now.”
“Oh?” You asked, suddenly very curious and no longer incredulous. “Is he more the kind of person to take things slowly?” You felt like maybe you had forced something out of Deacy then, that maybe he hadn’t been ready and you had bewitched him. Though, looking back, it didn’t seem like that, it hadn’t felt like that.
“Not particularly. Not remotely, really.” It felt like Jim was choosing his words very carefully. “Well, he didn’t used to be before…” Jim’s voice trailed off in a way you didn’t particularly like; this wasn’t forced dramatics, but just a reluctance that wasn’t true to your prior experiences of Jim, who was typically exceedingly frank and spoke without flashy adornments.
“Before…?” You asked, your heart rate increasing with each passing second, and each second lasted a year of time.
“Before his wife--”
“Wait--he’s married?” The words came out of you as a pained whisper. You couldn’t breathe. You couldn’t think. You couldn’t see. Everything, including time, sped up to punch you in the gut. What had you done? What had they all let happen? Were you part of some joke you hadn’t known about this entire time? Some game? You couldn’t breathe. You needed to get out of here. You were cold. Everything was suddenly so cold.
“No,” Jim said, taking your hand in his. “She died.”

Track 4. Soul, Meet Body
Meguro was in perfect bloom this April, and even the most common neighborhood places were insta worthy when the cherry trees blissfully rained their petals over heads of passers-by with every gust of the warm wind. Tourists flooded the otherwise silent riverbanks, walking along the promenade in hope of a memorable photo angle, and locals hurried through narrow alleyways away from the buzzing crowd into the everyday, sweeping the petals into fragile floral flurries with each step.
The scenery was gorgeous, something you discovered anew and fell in love with each year, and yet, standing in front of the new school, Tennoko could hardly enjoy the view, with thoughts racing through his head like buses at a busy terminal.
Was he too early? God, he was, definitely making a fool of himself just standing there in front of the gate. He should have just met them on the way. But it was harder to coordinate their commute now that Hideo had moved and Tomomi's wasn't really en route to the new school anymore. They'd figure it out eventually, he was sure, but for now he was entirely on his own, a nervous gnawing in his chest at the sight of other students.
They were already going towards the building, some of them maybe even his new classmates, and he tried to look oh so casual and even sent some of them an approachable smile but was pretty sure none of it was working, and they'd all just remember him as the tall awkward guy. He sighed, stomach turning another flip as he looked at the unknown faces around.
The genes had finally caught up with him this year and fast, and Tennoko felt that even over the short spring break he had grown taller again. He was overtaking Hideo in height now, and he had outgrown Tomomi already. Whatever medically accurate reassurance he got that it was all perfectly normal at his age, or encouragement that he could make a great midfielder with the height, did not make it any less of a surprise. He felt awkward in this new body changing shape and size whether he liked it or not, all lanky limbs and cracking voice and constant appetite.
He tugged at the sleeves of the uniform and smoothed the blazer, then adjusted the shoulder strap of his bag again.
At least the new uniform was better than the middle school one. If anything, the navy blazer and the tie made him feel a bit more mature and well put together than the fluffy cream cardigan they had to wear in middle school. Because that thing had just made him look like a frigging Mareep, what with his face round and still a bit childish, and a single curl always in front of his side swept bangs.
The navy blue also made his eyes stand out, and that was pretty much the only feature he liked about himself at this time of his life.
Nine was approaching fast and the guys were nowhere in sight. He looked around again, nervously glancing at his phone, hoping that he wouldn't need to brave the auditorium for the opening ceremony alone. Finally, Tennoko spotted Hajima running from across the street, and sighed with relief.
"You're late," he narrowed his eyes as Hideo's face widened in a grin at his sight.
His uniform, tie and shirt were perfectly pressed but his bag was unzipped, the syllabus and notebooks peeking out, and his hair was still a bit damp, dark brown streaks clinging to his forehead.
Tennoko forced himself not to scruff it into place.
"I knew you'd look cute in the new uniform," Hajima swallowed another grin eyeing him.
"Wasn't exactly going for cute but thanks," Tennoko rolled his eyes. There was no way to be angry at Hideo, not really, his freckles and smile be damned.
"What were you going for?"
"Brooding intellectual," he fixed his glasses on the nose and Hajima snorted.
"First class geek you mean," there was a laugh from behind, and Tennoko stuttered forwards with a quick push of an elbow to his side.
"Sure, right back at you," he snickered, noticing a new Crimson Blade key chain hanging from the zipper on his friend's school bag as Motoki Tomomi jumped from behind to say hello. He grinned and exchanged a bro handshake with Hideo.
"Where's your tie?" Tennoko asked.
"Thought I'd upgrade my image a bit, you know. The ladies man, a bit of a bad boy," he wiggled his eyebrows and propped the collar of his shirt up. With the short hair and the cheeky grin he had a sort of rogue charm around him.
"You're going to get told off on the first day. Again," Tennoko sighed.
"Don't kill my vibe, Hikaru," he replied, crossing his arms. "Can you believe it though, same school. We made it," he looked at them, then at the building behind their backs.
"Same class too," Hajima smiled, looking at Tennoko.
"Three more years stuck together, what a nightmare," Tennoko grinned at them both.
They all chortled.
As a pair of girls passed them hurrying towards the school, Motoki sighed, "Oh dear gods, please let there be fine girls in our class."
Hideo just rolled his eyes, too polite to join in on that kind of wishful thinking, and Tennoko shook his head.
"What?" Tomomi shrugged "I'm over that breakup and ready for something new, aren't you?"
Hajima made a face and ran a hand through his hair. "Just make sure you don't screw it up too fast or you'll be awkwardly stuck with her for the rest of high school," he said and Motoki mouthed fuck off in response with the politest of smiles. "What about you?" Hideo asked.
"Relationships with me never work out, you guys know that," Tennoko pulled the collar of his shirt as he tried laughing it off.
"Only 'cause they don't start, idiot," Tomomi shook his head, and he might have called him names but there was tenderness to it and concern in his voice.
"Well, I'm sure you guys will do just fine," Tennoko smiled and scruffed their heads in an affectionate manner.
Then he wrapped an arm around their backs and took a selfie of all three of them grinning in the new uniform. It came out perfect.
Already on their way, he sent it to a family group chat. Mom replied with three clapping hands emoji. The uncles responded too.
"Kick ass, kid" Naota said, obligatory football emoji at the end.
"Just not literally," Satoshi added, and Tennoko snickered imagining his strict expression.
The heart and the head, age old feud between these two. One Tennoko was partial to in his own life as well.
He took another look at the photo, then at Tomomi and Hideo's backs as they paved the way towards the auditorium chatting and joking, and he felt sunshine creep into his heart, dispelling any doubt he'd had on this first day of school.
Here they were -- the soul to his body.
Whatever things they'd discover in this new adventure, he was sure they would be there for him, always. Helping him navigate through life, one crisis at a time.
Around the third day of the school year the class has finally started to come together and feel a bit more relaxed, healthy buzzing and laughing during breaks a good sign things were going well with getting to know each other.
Though Tennoko had worried so many times over the spring break that starting relations with the new classmates would be uncomfortable to say the least, surprisingly, it wasn't a disaster at all.
Somehow the guys already figured out that he was indeed the nephew of Japan's best shooter, which earned him the usual bragging rights, though he knew he had yet to prove himself during a sparring match in PE -- as if the fact that his uncle represented Japan on the national team carried over to his own skills in football. Luckily, he'd had his share of practice and love for it so he wasn't too worried about tarnishing the family name and honour.
His long lasting friendship with Hideo meant he was also comfortable discussing baseball with the guys, having watched countless games with Hajima and listened to him explain the rules and gameplay, and having seen him play practically since they were kids.
And his love of gaming and all things geek came in handy too because in this day and age who didn't play video games, read comics, and followed heroes across the big screen each year anyway.
He didn't have time yet to hang out much with the girls but was positively thrilled to learn that some of them were also going to see Lana this summer, so they already made plans to attend the concert together. Because as much as Hideo and Tomomi didn't mind his affinity for angsty pop divas in glitter gowns, they weren't really keen to join him on such a gig wearing a flower crown.
They were waiting for the homeroom to start on the first period that day, and Tennoko spaced out a little taking in the buzz and feeling surprisingly at ease in the new surroundings.
He looked to his right. The way people were seated, there was an empty student desk beside him. He wondered if the class was going to be one short, and if so why there was still an extra seat left.
"I heard we were going to get a foreigner in class. I guess that was just rubbish," laughed a girl in a group in the front row.
As the homeroom teacher Mr. Yamashita rolled in, his heavy frame almost too big for the doorway, all students dispersed to their seats and gossip ceased.
"There was a misunderstanding with the roster of students but we have figured things out now. Please join us," from the desk he waved at the door, and as it slid open, the class went even more silent at the sight of the newcomer.
He was all broad shoulders and confident walk, straight back, and chest out like a shield once he stood in front of the whole class. His mid length hair was tied up into a half ponytail, and his face was lightly sun-kissed as if it still had some summer tan left from last year. Though he didn't say anything yet, he already had an expression of someone annoyed with the situation, brows pulled in and mouth set into a tight line. The cuffs of his blazer were turned up. To say he was tall was an understatement. He looked like he was going to outgrow the uniform any second.
"Please welcome your fellow student, Ko-kun," Yamashita-sensei read out from the updated roster as the guy customarily scribbled his name on the blackboard.
To everyone's surprise, he wrote it in katakana and Korean side by side. Someone let out a barely audible gasp.
"Ko Yoo-mi. Nice to meet you," he didn't bow, just introduced himself in fluent Japanese in a melodic yet kind of harsh voice, which made Tennoko wonder at his accent.
"Take a seat, Ko-kun," the teacher said, and suddenly, all eyes in the class on the single empty chair, Tennoko realised he was going to have company after all.
He swallowed nervously.
"You've come to know each other a bit so we'll be voting for a class representative today," the teacher addressed the whole class as if the arrival of a new student was no reason enough to disrupt his usual lesson plan. "Volunteers write your names on the sheets. Motoki, no leaning in the chair!"
As the newcomer placed his shoulder bag by the desk, and unzipped it to take out a notebook, Tennoko noticed what he thought looked like the newest issue of Young Guitar magazine peeking through between books.
Just this moment, the stranger sent him a do you mind kind of look, his eyes so dark they looked almost black, and Tennoko startled.
As the day passed, he noticed the newcomer avoided any sort of interaction with others during breaks, conveniently leaving the classroom to do his own thing. During lunchtime the guy was nowhere to be seen, which fueled the gossip even more. At the end of the day, when they changed their shoes in the locker room and walked in groups to get some ramen or to the arcade, the whole class was talking about one thing only -- the Korean.

Exo reacting to you haunting them after they killed you.
None of the gifs belong to me -Admin RDB
Minseok
We all know this kid is scared by nothing. He’s not scared of you haunting him one bit. If anything he’d be unimpressed, bored, and slightly annoyed.
“Y/N, don’t you have anything better to do? You have all the time in the world why don’t you finally learn how to speak proper Korean instead of your koreaboo broken version?”
Tumblr media
Luhan
How do you think he came up with the idea that he has telekinesis? When you tried to move things to scare him he thought he was doing it with his mind.
“Did... did I do that? Of course I did, who else? Wow Lu, you’re it’s so manly and cool that you have superpowers. The others are faking it but I’m so awesome I don’t need to fake it.”
He’d probably will never stop bragging so you’d pity how proud he is so you play along, even though he killed you in cold blood. Oh well, win some lose some.
Tumblr media
Yifan
He thinks he’s so tough but the second you appear he’s gonna scream bloody murder, which is ironic since you know, you literally died in bloody murder.  After screamin for about an hour he’d calm down enough for you to give your speech about how you were going to haunt him for his wrong doings until he dies.
“Y/N do you really have to haunt me, it’s not my style. Can’t you go haunt like, Suho or something. What? No it’s no cause I’m scared, tough guys don’t get scared. It’s just cramping my style.”
Tumblr media
Junmyeon
At first when things started going missing in the dorm Junmyeon just played it off as some weird prank from the beagles. Only when Baekhyun started complaining about someone taking his robotic toy dog from a concert did he start wondering if it was someone else; he blamed it on saesangs. Getting bored with him not realizing it was you, you finally decided to appear to him. You finally got the reaction you wanted when he processed he was seeing a ghost.
“...”
Tumblr media
Yixing
This poor, lovable, delusional goofball. When he accidentally killed you, he tried to revive you with his healing powers. Sadly you can’t cure extreme 3rd degree burns from a house fire caused by a cooking accident just by wiggling your fingers, but he truly believed he could. So when your ghost appeared, he honestly thought he brought you back to life.
“Jagiya, you’re back! I’m sorry for hurting you but it’s okay I brought you back to life! It’s weird... I thought your old body would be revived but it’s okay that you have a new one! What should we do with this body then?”
Tumblr media
Baekhyun
At first he thought it was Jongdae pranking him, but when the ‘pranks’ still happened while Jongdae was hanging out with Minseok, Baekhyun started getting nervous. He’d probably set up some cameras and some EVPs because he’s watched enough Ghost Adventures to know somethings going on here.  You’d never give him the satisfaction of having solid proof of you haunting him, just enough to freak him out.
“Was that Y/N’s voice? What did they say? ... ‘Kkaebsong’? Ha ha. Real funny Y/N. Can’t we leave that in 2014?”
Tumblr media
Jongdae
He’s so easy-going about everything he wouldn’t even care.
“I killed you so I wouldn’t have to see you anymore but I guess I can’t get rid of you again. Look, if you wanna possess me or something go ahead but we got an interview in a few hours so I’ll need my body back by then. Try not to get me too scratched up or anything cause I don’t wanna explain that I killed my ex partner and they’re haunting me, k?”
Tumblr media
Chanyeol
He’s a scaredy-cat, it wouldn’t be hard to torment him. He’d start loosing his mind over all the little things you did.  He’d probably go into cardiac arrest if you ever spoke to him, let alone show yourself, so you’d mostly just move things around on him.
“Breath Yeolie, it’s okay, just breath. Ghosts aren’t real and your ex totally is haunting you after you killed them haha no everything’s fi- that rilakkuma doll wasn’t on my bed when I last looked... Baekhyun had to have moved it. Even though he hasn’t been home all day. Yup definitely Baekhyun and not Y/N.”
Tumblr media
Kyungsoo
Not that phased by it. He puts up with the beagles all the time, this is nothing. He’d just brush you off as a second Chanyeol and go about his day. Kyungsoo would make you help him out since even though you’re dead he’s still threatening.
“If you’re gonna haunt me forever, do you mind helping me cook? I know you can move things don’t act like you can’t, you tried to tie my shoes together while I was on a plane. Go get me a cutting board.”
Tumblr media
Tao
The first bump in the night he’d run out of the dorm.
“No one’s in the kitchen right now! The only way that cabinet could have slammed was from a ghost! I’m not going back in there until someone brings an exorcist and rids this home of these ghosts!”
As he was outside crouching in the street, you decided to tap him on the shoulder. Once he turned and saw no one was there he’d book it again.
Tumblr media
Jongin
You expected Jongin to be an easy scare. Turns out, he was slow to realize you were a ghost, so when you screamed to scare him, he thought it Tao screaming over a spider or something, so he just screamed back.
“WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!”
Everything you did he just thought it was someone else doing dumb things and it would take forever for you to convince him. The only way would be to show yourself, and then he’d just laugh because that’s his only reaction to everything.
Tumblr media
Sehun
He’d jump at first then just laugh it off after, unless it was while he was sleeping. Sehun would be so annoyed that you would interrupt his sleep by turning lights or banging on walls or knocking his things off his dresser.
“Y/N I know you can’t relate because you look like a rat but I’m trying to get my beauty sleep. It takes effort to look this stunning so if you could shut up I’d appreciate it. Go bother Luhan he’s ugly and there’s no fixing it.”

This is a little positivity list for @veronicabunch :)
I went to the Coldplay concert with my boyfriend last Sunday and it was the best day of my life. I have never felt so fullfilled, I was so happy and it was such a great feeling being there with someone that loves me. I will never forget that.
My vacation is only 2 weeks away and I can’t wait. I can already feel the ocean on my skin and it feels wonderful.
I am slowly, bit by bit, moving in with my man...it’s exciting.
The next week at work will be super chill since we have two birthdays and our summer festival, so I can be chill this weekend too since I have next to nothing to plan, which is nice for a change.
Work is getting better and better, that’s very good.
I started therapy this week, finally, after trying to convince myself that I can do everything on my own for years now. I feel proud of myself because I have made that move for myself now.
On Thursday I went to meet up with my boyfriends family and it was great, I had a good time. Also, his cousin has baby rabbits and I got to hold on that wasn’t bigger than my hand...and my hands are really, really small. It was tiny. *____*
Also on Thursday I sent my man out to get some snacks real quick while I jump in the shower because we were playing Pen & Paper online with out friends. He brought me icecream!!!!!!!! ICECREAM!
I am going to the local Pride Parade today and I have a costume for the first time. I will go with my boyfriend and I am allowed to do makeup and glitter on him which excites me to no end, I am telling you. I hope it will be amazing but I am sure it will be because different to the last time I feel like I am going there to have fun, not to proof something or to come out, like last year. This year is gonna be pure fun and joy.
The kids in my kindergarden group are super adoreable. They have a competition everyday telling me how beautiful and sweet and cool I am. It’s kinda nice going to work and being told you are beautiful by 25 toddlers every day, haha.
Speaking of my kids, they are great and some are even favourites of mine already. I know you’re not supposed to have faves but I am human, I will always like some people more than others. Adin, for example, is the cutest little fella in the whole wide world and he’s very clever, too. Last week we found a bee in our garden that couldn’t fly, so Adin wiggled his butt and jumped to encourage the bee to fly. He even sang a song for her. Later he told me he really likes bees and wants to save them because he’s “the friend of all bees”. He even dressed up as a bee once. I. can. not. even.
My best friend had a baby three months ago and she’s the cutest little thing. Every time I am in a bad mood, I ask her to send me pics of her baby girl and she does and it makes me very happy. Noone can stay mad looking at that face.
MY VACATION IS ONLY TWO WEEKS AWAY!!! YESSSSSSSSSSS!
Okay, so these are some things that happened to me, I could tell a lot more stories about my kids and my boyfriend. In fact, a lot of them have to do with my boyfriend, which I apologize for, this was not supposed to be a bragging fest about him but he just makes me really happy and I am spending a lot of time with him.
I really hope this helps and I wish you a wonderful, happy weekend. Get some rest, sleep a bit more and get some good food. :)

-Something Just like This - Chainsmokers, ft. Coldplay
His hair was sticking up on one side under his hood.
Marinette glared across the room at the offending hairstyle, semi-hidden under his black hood. With any other of the guys, she would not hesitate to cross the room in a couple steps and fix their hair. But she had only known Adrien for a little over a month, and she wasn’t sure if they were close enough, nor had she run her hand through his hair before.
Though, she meditated, he had all but cuddled up to her leg this afternoon while she was writing, because he had been seeking the patch of sunlight to nap in. All under the pretense of helping her write music, of course. The messed up hair was probably because of his nap.
Silly kitty.
He really did seem to act like a cat. Marinette chuckled to herself, because Alya always bragged about designing characters that were spot on.
Adrien had wiggled his way into her life. He had become her partner in crime for so many things: writing music (the boy had such good taste and his basslines were epic), teasing Alya and Nino, long chats about music history or theory, and the like. One time, they got in a debate on the chord progression of a movie that they were watching with Nino and Alya, who were slightly annoyed at the interruption.
Marinette rolled her eyes and crossed the room. “Chat,” she called, adhering to Alya’s rule of using their pseudo while being fully in costume. This gave her full right to record videos, take pictures, and whatever else she needed to do for advertising purposes. When he didn’t respond, she placed her hand on his shoulder. “Kitty, your hair is a mess,” she said, lifting his hood and running her hands through his hair to fix it properly.
His bright green eyes, accented by the black make-up mask painted on his face, turned to her in surprise. He smiled down at her, allowing her to spike up his hair properly. “Hi, my Lady. You can fix my hair anytime,” he winked.
Marinette propped his hood back up on top of his head, noting the glistening silver that sparkled from his left ear. “How are the piercings feeling? It’s been a couple days since Juleka did them, yes?”
Adrien winced a little. “They still are very sore, but it’s not bad. Juleka did an awesome job.”
Marinette peeked inside the side of his hood. He had one piercing on each ear, and then a cartilage piercing on his left side.
“What did your friends think?” Marinette asked. He had come in after his rehearsal and promptly fallen asleep. Then, there had been the normal flurry of getting ready for a concert. She hadn’t really talked to him in a couple days and found that she had missed the dorky guy.
Adrien chuckled, “The people in my ensemble didn’t say much. One of my friends was a little more opinionated, but she didn’t seem to hate it. My dad was a little more upset, but I’m an adult and it doesn’t affect my performances.” He leaned in a little to her, lifting his hand to block his mouth from others, confiding. “Between you and me, bugaboo, I have been ordered around all my life, so it’s nice to make decisions of my own now.” He pulled back and winked at her.
Marinette giggled in response, but filed away the information. They had been slowly learning more about each other as they worked together as band-mates and writing buddies. He treated her like a close friend, but she could tell that he hid away a lot of his life from everyone.
“Your secret is safe with me!”
He grinned, “Are you ready for the concert tonight? We have been pumping out music pretty fast.”
“That’s usually what happens when it is summer. I have more time to write, and everyone has more time to learn the songs! I’m ready, it’s just going to take a lot of energy for these songs.”
Adrien avoided Rose, who jostled behind him through the kitchen. “You always are able to perform with an abundance of energy, so I don’t think you will have any issues! I’m excited to see you and Alya do the opener.”
Marinette grinned and looked across the room at her best friend, who was taking pictures with one hand and gesturing at Max, who was messing with their video camera. “She always brings out the best in me for these types of songs! The lyrics are a play off of a conversation we had a year ago.”
Adrien paused for a moment, reflecting on the lyrics he remembered. “That makes a lot of sense, now that you say that!”
“Okay kids!” Alya shouted through the group, “It’s showtime!”
Xxxxxx
Marinette took a deep breath as the upbeat intro played. She looked across the stage, that was set up in a park for them, to Alya, who gave her a quick wink.
They both nodded to each other and pranced onto the stage, in front of the band as Marinette began to sing.
Rule number one, is that you gotta have fun
But baby when you're done, you gotta be the first to run.
She and Alya circled around each other as Alya began to sing.
Rule number two, just don't get attached to
Somebody you could lose, so le-let me tell you
The girls high-fived as the chorus started, launching into a simple hip-hop style dance with Rose and Mylene framing them. Marinette belted out the lyrics, and Alya sang a harmony over her.
This is how to be a heartbreaker, boys they like a little danger
We'll get him falling for a stranger, a player, singing I lo-lo-love you
How to be a heartbreaker, boys they like the look of danger
We'll get him falling for a stranger, a player, singing I lo-lo-love you
At least I think I do
The girls finished with a spin and then pranced around the stage as they vocalized. Marinette stopped to dance back-to-back with Lila and Alya went to hip bump Nino at his keyboard.
'Cause I lo-lo-lo-love you
Both of them sang together and then circled back to center stage. Marinette took the lead, and Alya sang the upper harmony over her.
Rule number three, wear your heart on your cheek
But never on your sleeve, unless you wanna taste defeat
Marinette tapped her cheek and then waggled her finger at the audience, a grin etched on her face. Singing with Alya always gave her tons of energy. Again, the girls switched and Alya sang the melody as Marinette sang the upper harmony.
Rule number four, gotta be looking pure
Kiss him goodbye at the door, and leave him wanting more, more
Alya pantomimed a kiss at the front of the stage, and then joined the rest of the girls toward the center to dance again. They launched into the same dance sequence, popping together and spinning.
This is how to be a heartbreaker, boys they like a little danger
We'll get him falling for a stranger, a player, singing lo-lo-love you
Marinette was in a full grin. This was one of her new favorite songs; it was so catchy, thanks to Adrien’s amazing chord progression and bassline, and she loved the lyrics. It was amazing how much Adrien had helped her with music for this concert, and she was so happy he had given her the assistance.
How to be a heartbreaker, boys they like the look of danger
We'll get him falling for a stranger, a player, singing lo-lo-love you
At least I think I do
The song abruptly cut off at the end of the lyric, Max throwing the stage into a full black out. Through the silence, Marinette heard Nino start the beginning melody for the next song, his synth ringing out. She could hear the rest of the crew shuffling to their next positions as she planted center-stage, waiting for her cue.
She heard the phrase starting again, and jumped in, still shrouded in dark.
Tonight feels like we can do anything we like, oh
Tonight feels like the best night of my life
Bright lights started to strobe around her, and she heard Nino begin to rap over her singing, alternating with her as the beat rose.
I'm goin' in, (put your - put your hands up), I'm goin' in, (put your - put your hands up), I'm goin' in (put your - put your hands up), I'm goin' in, (put your - put your hands up)
The music built up around her, and she took a couple steps back, trusting the Alix and Kim wouldn’t run into her in the dark. Nino had recorded her voice and looped it with his own, editing it into the build up.
I'm goin' in, in in in in
On the drop, chaos ensued. There were a blow of small, sparkler-like fireworks across the stage, and the lights snapped on, colors roaming everywhere. Marinette watched as Alix and Kim flipped around the stage. Alya had traded her microphone for her phone, doing a ‘stage cam’ for the fans and running through the chaos.
Marinette pranced to the front of the stage and began to sing.
It's 'go' time, press my button yeah blow the stage, grenade
Oh my, tonight we gon' ring the tank, bananas
The music dropped slightly, allowing her to sing more lyrically.
No hold, there ain't no stopping us tonight
I'm on my crazy, she on a crazy, we on this crazy
We are amazing
She could feel the subtle build again, as Nino looped her voice for the chorus. Marinette was always amazed by Nino’s skill, as he preferred to do the majority of his mixes on the fly, rather than prepare them before, like most DJs. Like any of the other band members on stage, he responds to real time and performs just like them.
Tonight feels like we can do anything we like, oh
Tonight feels like the best night of my life
I'm goin' in, I'm goin' in, I'm goin' in, I'm goin' in, I'm goin' in, in in in in
Marinette jumped into the complicated dance sequence with Rose and Mylene framing her. They had been pushing her to do harder choreography, and she could tell that her hard work had been paying off. She popped to the music, putting as much effort into the short sequence as she did her singing. Alix and Kim were pumping up the crowd with their fancy tricks and flips.
Take it to the head, take it off the edge
Nothing but the best
Feeling like a million, million people everywhere
Put it in the air
We don't give a damn, feeling like a billion, billion
Alya came up next to Marinette, her phone still filming in her hand. Marinette sang into the camera, punctuating the section with a wink to the fans. She knew that they loved the view from the stage, watching the performance from their point of view.
No hold, there ain't no stopping us tonight
I'm on my crazy, she on a crazy, we on this crazy
We are amazing
Marinette backed into the left corner where Adrien was rocking out on the bass. She bumped her hip against his, giving him a giant smile. He had worked his butt off with Nino, taking her basic sketches for the music and making it come to life. She was amazed at how talented he was, and his ability to push her to create better music.
Tonight feels like we can do anything we like, oh
Tonight feels like the best night of my life
I'm goin' in, I'm goin' in, I'm goin' in, I'm goin' in, I'm goin' in, in in in in
She passed by Juleka on the drums, reaching out her hand. Juleka gave her a fist bump, her drum stick still in hand and not missing a beat. Grinning at Ivan and Lila, who were rocking away on the other side of Juleka, Marinette meet Rose and Mylene at the front of the stage just as Nino took to the mic, rapping away.
Hey you hands on the ceiling, Nobody move, nobody get shot, Lip pounds on me
I love it how a mami went around on me, So I never get enough of yelling, ven aqui
Officer on duty, *Ladybug what they call her; Take me to jail, cause I wanna be your robber
Put me in a cell if you really need to holler; Put me in a cell feed down *Bubbler, hey
To the sky, put your hands on rock, plus nobody telling please that the club is mi casa
So they wanna freak, on the way you call papa, gotta make them sing high notes like Oprah
When the ego, I got four Leo; Even the DJ, wanna rep Puerto Rico
Got it on replay, like you just broke a needle; whatever that he say, better listen up people
The girls finished their dance sequence, Marinette launching out, almost breathless, to sing again. She pranced over to Nino, giving him a high five for spitting out all those words.
Facing the crowd, she planted in center stage, singing out the last chorus.
Tonight, feels like, Tonight, feels like, the best night of my life
I'm goin' in, I'm goin' in, I'm goin' in, I'm goin' in, hey!
The whole crew pumped their right fist to the air, freezing as the lights went out around them.
Xxxx
Adrien watched as Ladybug’s pigtails bounced with each step as she talked animatedly with Nino. Her hands flew in the air as she gestured, almost smacking the boy in the face. Her makeup mask was slightly smudged, but still very present.
The red really brings out her blue eyes, he thought, watching them flash with excitement.
“… And Chat killed that bass part!” She spun around quickly, startling Adrien. Her smile was breathless and beaming, as she walked backwards a couple steps. “I’m so glad that you fixed it on that drop, it made the world of a difference.”
“Of course, my Lady,” he replied with an amused smile.
Nino winked at him over his shoulder, as Marinette turned back around and skipped a few steps to the side door of Le Chat Noir. She flung it open with a bang and dashed in to greet Alya, who had come in Max’s car to help him with the tech stuff.
Nino’s eyes were laughing at her excitement, “She’s super pumped right now.”
“I haven’t seen her this excited after a show yet,” Adrien mused, as he followed Nino in through the door. “I mean, she was pretty happy after the last show, but not walking on literal sunshine.”
Nino shrugged, “She used to be like this after every show when we first started, but that ass she dated for a while kinda brought down her energy.” He smiled fondly at Marinette, who was hopping around in a squealing circle with Alya. “I’m really glad that she seems to be getting better, now that he is gone.”
“Was he really that bad?”
“Yes,” Nino almost growled. “There were many days where Alya wanted to beat the shit outta him, but knew that Marinette would be pissed.”
Adrien sighed, sad that she had to go through that relationship, but happy that she seemed to be getting better now.”
He glanced around the small club, observing the band scattered throughout the room in clumps. Alya and Marinette were still dancing around and chatting a small way from Max, who was pouring over his computer, most likely editing the video from their performance. He didn’t like to do a ton of edits, but merged in some of Alya’s on-stage camera and dubbing a better sound recording over, rather than the crappy camera sound. Juleka was carrying a couple of beers and a pink drink over to Rose and Lila, who were talking. Nathaniel, Mylene, and Ivan were watching Kim and Alix, who seemed to be trying to balance plastic cups on their noses. Everyone was lively and laughing, high off of the energy from the performance.
“It was really nice of your cousin to let us hang out in the club after the performance,” Adrien said, following Nino to the DJ booth.
Nino unpacked his laptop. “Jax is a really cool guy. The club is closed on Tuesdays, so we usually come after concerts, if they happen to be on that day. A lot of the band hangs out here a lot anyways. Mari bartends, so the drinks are free or reduced, and there is always dancing.” Nino smacked Adrien’s shoulder, “You should come on a Latin night! Those are the best.”
Adrien laughed, “Sounds like fun!” He watched as Marinette walked over to the bar and ducked under the counter that lay across the entrance. “I’m gonna go get something to drink, do you want anything?”
Nino followed Adrien’s gaze and gave him an eyebrow raise. “Tell Mari to make me my usual. I’m gonna get set up over here so we can have some beats!”
Adrien rolled his eyes at Nino’s antics and jumped down from the booth. Strolling up to the bar, he sat on one of the seats in front of the girl.
She smirked at him, “This feels familiar.”
Adrien chuckled, “Just a little over a month, huh? Who would have thought that the almighty Ladybug, Paris’ favorite singer, would become one of my close friends?”
Marinette grinned at him. “I’m glad you joined our group, kitty. You’re a fantastic addition to the team and I have enjoyed getting to know you.”
Adrien reached out, releasing her hand from its hold on the glass and setting it on the counter. He brought the back of her hand to his lips, brushing a soft kiss across the back of it. “And I, you, my Lady.”
Marinette pulled her hand back and poked him in the nose, her eyes gleaming. “Alright, you dork. What do you want to drink?”
Adrien smiled a loopy grin at her, “Whatever you made me last time was fantastic, and Nino requested his usual.”
Marinette laughed, picking up the glass Adrien had made her discard. She filled it with ice, and then swooped up two more glasses to join it. “Nino’s usual is just a random beer on tap. I surprise him every time!”
Adrien watched as she quickly poured rum in his glass, and what looked like vodka in the other two glasses at the same time. Another liquor was added to the two glasses with vodka, while she poured coke from the soda gun into his drink. She reached down and grabbed a jug of orange juice from the refrigerator. Dashing a little bit into the two other drinks, she poured what looked like cranberry juice from the gun to top them off. She reached into the fruit tray next to her and squeezed a lime in his drink, and slid it across the bar to him. Two orange slices were dunked into the other two drinks, followed by straws.
Whirling around, she pulled a pint glass off the stack and pondered in front of the beer taps. Adrien watched her pigtails flip over her shoulder, as she cocked her head in contemplation. He felt a loopy smile come across his face; he admired this girl so much. She was so brave, strong, and smart. Her knowledge of and enthusiasm for music amazed him endlessly. He loved watching her eyes light up with excitement when she came up with a genius idea for a chord progression or drew connections between composers’ works. He adored the teasing glint in her eye as she fended off his flirty advances. Her loyalty to her friends and deep love for them made him desire to become that close to her. Her courage to pick herself up after a bad relationship and thrive in her art regardless was inspiring.
Her playfulness made his heart sing.
He knew he was falling for ‘his Lady,’ and falling fast, but part of him did not care.
Marinette whirled back around, her bluebell eyes meeting his. She saw his loopy smile, his chin propped on his hand as he gazed at her, and offered a cocked eyebrow. He could see the familiar teasing glint in her eyes, knowing that she had caught him gazing longingly at her.
She propped one hand on her hip, “Like what you see, alley cat?”
Adrien tried not to sigh, “How could one not, when you are the view?”
Her eyes widened, and he realized that he actually said his thoughts out loud. Stammering, he sat up straight waving his hands in front of him, frantically trying to back track. “I didn’t mean… Well, you are really pretty… I didn’t want to…”
Giving up, he threw his hands in the air in frustration, and flopped his head on the bar top with a groan. His arms came down to hid his face from the still-shocked girl in front of him.
He heard a snicker, some giggles, and then her ringing laughter. Peeking up at her from his hiding place in his arms, he saw her bracing herself against the bar top, almost falling over in laughter.
Indignantly, he cried out a short, “Hey!” She looked up at him, wiping the tears from her eyes and still giggling.
“I’m so sorry, you just got so flustered and I didn’t even do anything this time!” Her eyes met his, filled with mirth.
He sat up, rolling his eyes and crossing his arms over his chest in a pout. “Glad to see you find my embarrassment so humorous.”
She leaned down, almost draping herself on the counter, coming close to his face. Her hand came up to caress his cheek, a dangerous glint coming into her eyes. “Kitty, why do you think I tease you so often?” Her right eyebrow cocked upwards, “Besides, you actually caught me off guard this time.”
His breath hitched at her close proximity. She drew back, walking with swaying hips to the end of the bar and ducking back under the entrance. Coming beside him, she teasingly elbowed him out of his frozen state and swooped up the two cocktails and Nino’s beer in her capable hands. Adrien shook himself out of his shock and snatched up his own drink, chasing after her quick strides.
Catching up to her, he looked down at her with a smile. She was amazing.
And he told her so, chuckling when she winked back at him.
They walked up to Alya, who was still working with Max. Marinette handed her one of the cocktails, grinning when Alya thanked her with a kiss on the cheek.
“Wanna go give Nino his beer and get the party started?” Marinette asked her, with a large grin on her face.
“You know it!” Alya snatched the beer from Marinette’s hands and bounded up to the DJ booth.
A moment later, her voice was resounding through the speakers. “Alright gang! You know the drill. I’m gonna be filming for a little bit and snapping some pictures for promo stuff, so stick to alias names for a little while. Let’s get this party started!”
The rest of the crew shouted as Nino turned up the music and down the lights. Adrien felt his heartrate pick up with the beat of the music.
Baby, this is what you came for
Lightning strikes every time she moves
And everybody's watching her but she's looking at you
He looked down at Marinette, who was taking a long sip from her drink, her hips moving in time with the music. She was watching Rose, who had grabbed Juleka by the hand and pulled her to the dance floor. Lila skipped out behind them, her hair fanning out over her shoulders. Mylene and Ivan followed a little slower, Mylene leading him with a cute dance. Alix and Kim swooped down on Max, pulling him off his laptop and onto the dance floor. Even Nathaniel was chilling on the outskirts, sipping on a glass of beer.
Marinette put her half-empty drink on the tall cocktail table and pulled his own out of his hand. “Come on,” her smile beamed up at him, her hand warm in his as she tugged him toward the dance floor. “I said I would teach you how to dance to this style when you could handle me,” she said with a wink.
Adrien’s mind flashed to the first night he had been in this club, Marinette teasing him endlessly. He grinned as she pulled him closer to her in the center of the dance floor, “Teach away, wild mustang!”
He watched as she bobbed to the music in front of him, her arms thrown up in the air, eyes sparkling, and hips swaying to the beat. Her dark hair caught the light of the flashing lights, entrancing him.
Baby, this is what you came for
Lightning strikes every time she moves
And everybody's watching her but she's looking at you
Her eyes met his, laughing. “Come on, kitty. Just let loose and have fun! There are no rules on this dance floor.”
Adrien looked around, finding that everyone was moving however the music led them to. Everyone sang the lyrics to each other, jumping up and down with the beat. He saw how people would gravitate toward each other, touching for moments, and then pull away.
Marinette saw his hesitation and pulled him toward her by his wrist. “Listen to the music and enjoy,” she shouted over the music, putting his hand on her waist.
Adrien took a deep breath, allowing the beat to wash over him as he followed her lead.
We go fast with the game we play
Who knows why it's gotta be this way
We say nothing more than we need
I say, "Your place," when we leave
The music dropped around him and he found himself singing lyrics over the loud music, his nose almost rubbing with Marinette’s.
“Follow my lead,” she said by his ear.
Baby, this is what you came for
Lightning strikes every time she moves
And everybody's watching her but she's looking at you
He looked down at her feet as she took two steps to the side, tapping her foot at the end with a hip swish, and then repeated the other way. Adrien followed her steps, syncing in quickly. This he could do, just like the ballroom dance lessons his father had him take. But this time, it was Marinette, a stunning, enthusiastic, amazing young lady in his arms and not the old ballroom instructor. He felt Marinette pulling him closer and put her right hand in his left, similar to a ballroom closed position. Instead of placing his right on her shoulder blade, as he should, he tightened his full arm around the small of her back, his arm flush against the bare skin exposed by her crop top.
Baby, this is what you came for
Lightning strikes every time she moves
And everybody's watching her but she's looking at you
They continued to move together, her hips swaying in time with his. Once he got the feeling of the step, he pulled his hand up on the touch and spun her around on the next step. He pulled her close at the end, grinning at the breathless surprise on her face. A smirk fell over her face, and her knees bent as she swished her hips more, pressing closer to him.
The music faded around them, switching to a different song. The beat gradually changed – a testament to Nino’s DJing – and everyone cheered as the new song came on. Adrien joined them, recognizing the song as one from a popular American artist. He locked eyes with Marinette, her laughter taking his breath away as she opened her mouth to belt out the lyrics.
I've been reading books of old, the legends and the myths
Achilles and his gold, Hercules and his gifts
Spiderman's control, and Batman with his fists
And clearly I don't see myself upon that list
He joined his voice with hers, singing with her and the rest of the group.
But she said, where d'you wanna go? How much you wanna risk?
I'm not looking for somebody, with some superhuman gifts
Some superhero; Some fairytale bliss
Just something I can turn to, somebody I can kiss
Adrien cradled her closer, pushing her into a typical ballroom box step. He watched her eyes widen as she followed his lead, picking up quickly.
I want something just like this
Oh, I want something just like this
He spun her around again, pulling her close. Her eyes seared into his soul with her laughter. They sang together as they danced to the music, pressing every inch against each other.
I want something just like this
I want something just like this
He could feel her breath against him, his heart pounding in his ribs. He dipped his head closer to her, singing the lyrics to her.
But she said, where d'you wanna go? How much you wanna risk?
I'm not looking for somebody, with some superhuman gifts
Some superhero; Some fairytale bliss
Just something I can turn to, somebody I can kiss
I want something just like this
Oh, I want something just like this
The music began to fade again, and the two stood, chest to chest, in the middle of the dance floor. The world had melted around them, leaving them alone. All he could feel was Marinette in his arms, her hands around his neck and tangled in his hair. Their foreheads were pressed together as they swayed with little attempt to follow the music.
“I want something just like this,” Adrien sang with the dying music.
His breath hitched as she pulled closer, laying her head in the crook of his shoulder. Her body fit right into his, her breath against his neck. Adrien folded his arms around her further, hugging her to him.
It felt perfect. Amazing. Miraculous.
They stayed like that for what felt like decades, with no attention to the next song playing through the speakers, lost in each other.
Marinette finally pulled back a little, looking into his eyes with a deep gaze that surprised him. He had never seen her look at him like that.
Confusion splashed suddenly across her face, and she reached into her back pocket. Still tucked in his arms, she fished out her phone and unlocked it, looking at a text. Adrien couldn’t help but watch due to the close proximity and his natural curiosity.
He felt, rather than heard, her gasp against him, her fingers frantically pulling up a different application. Her head whipped toward the edge of the dance floor, where Alya was smirking at them, waving her own phone in the air.
Adrien followed her gaze back down toward the twitter feed on her own phone. A video began to play of a familiar dance floor and two familiar figures in red and black, pressed together and singing their hearts out.

Care For You

When he eats too much.. "Louis...I really don't think this is a good idea.." "Relax Haz. I'll be fine. I've got to show Liam who's boss around here." Harry rolls his eyes. "And eating your weight in food is going to prove that?" Louis nods, popping his knuckles "That's really mature."  Harry mumbles, shaking his head as the waitress brings out two hamburgers nearly the size of Harry's head. The Burger Challenge, its called. The name isn't even good, Harry's brain supplies. The whole point of the challenge is dumb but the least they could do is put a cool name on it. Louis and Liam are always competing in someway or another ever since the X-Factor. Even now, as the boys embark on their first world tour, the two still find something to compete over. Harry has known Louis for quite some time and loved him for nearly the same amount of time so he really should be quite used to Louis' antics. Still, he has to at least TRY to be the voice of reason. What kind of boyfriend would he be if he didn't? "Alright you two. You know the rules. You have one hour to finish the burger, the fries, and the drink. If you finish, you get a t shirt and your name on the wall of Burger Masters." Harry rolls his eyes at the cheesy name. Louis wins the competition. Liam gives up halfway through. And Louis is taunting him and bragging about his win until the van pulls back up to their hotel. Harry notices his drop in conversation far before the other boys and he gently nudges the boy. "Are you alright?" Louis bites his lip, placing a hand to his tummy. "I don't feel so hot, Haz." Harry frowns. "Lets get you inside. Maybe it's just from being in the cramped van." Louis nods and steps out of the car, keeping a steady hand on his bloated stomach. It gurgles and rolls beneath his hand and he bites his lip. He's never been ill away from home before. He wants his mum. She knows to give him peppermint tea and rub his tummy until he feels good again. Harry places a warm hand to his back and pushes him towards the elevator. "You're not looking too hot, Louis." Zayn says in his usual silly voice used to make Louis laugh. Louis shakes his head and swallows thickly, rubbing a hand into his stomach. "I don't feel very good..." "That's what you GET, Tommo. Don't feel much like taunting now, huh?" Liam asks, but his voice holds no malice. Louis shakes his head and closes his eyes, pushing up his tight top and placing his hands to his aching middle. The elevator feels like it takes ages to get to the boys rooms but it eventually makes it and Harry leads an uncomfortable Louis into their shared room. Louis falls to the bed closest to the door and groans, curling in on himself. "My stomach is killing me...." He moans, wrapping both arms around his belly. "Want some peppermint tea?" Harry hums. Louis' heart swells. Peppermint tea. "Y-yeah...that'd be great, actually." "Peppermint always settles my stomach." Harry says with a nod. Harry passes him a mug and settles in behind him, being the big spoon for once. Louis hums into the cup. "This tastes perfect, Hazza." Harry smiles. "I'm sorry your tummy hurts so bad." "I suppose you want to tell me 'I told you so' don't you?" Harry shakes his head. "I don't. Because I wish I wasn't right." "Ohhhhh I wish I would've listened to you. Ugh my stomach..." He moans, placing the mug on the table and pressing a fist to his poorly tummy. "Do you want me to rub your tummy?" "I love you.." Louis breathes out before he can catch himself. Silence falls onto the hotel room as Harry stares wide eyed at Louis, who's face is turning redder by the minute. "I mean..I...I um...I just...I just mean.." "I love you too." "You do?" Harry giggles, dimples popping from his cheeks. "I do." And Harry rubs his belly. He still ends up throwing up the entire burger from dinner but.. Harry still loves him anyway. And loads him up with more peppermint tea and tummy rubs. - When he has a migraine.. The Take Me Home tour is set to debut its first show tomorrow so therefore things are quite hectic for five teenage boys. They've had dress rehearsals, six interviews, two radio interviews, a soundcheck, and a photo shoot. All in one day. All in a matter of hours actually. Harry is shocked when he looks down at his phone and the time is only 1:30 in the afternoon. They've done so much in such little time. He's tired, exhausted really but the excitement for the show tomorrow keeps him smiling and entering into banter with the other three boys who feel the same. Which is probably why he doesn't notice that Louis isn't beside him or talking to the other boys until they reach the van. Harry looks beside him and crinkles his brow in confusion, turning to his other side. "Where's Louis?" He asks the group. They shrugs. "You're the one who always keeps up with him." Liam shrugs with a smile. "He's probably stolen another golf cart." Niall says with a laugh. Harry looks behind him and sees his boyfriend's quiff headed towards him at a rather slow pace. He finally does make it over and the other boys poke fun at him for being so slow. Louis only gives them a small smile and a short laugh. Harry knows something is wrong immediately but he also knows that Louis will come to him when he's ready. When he really needs him. The banter continues in the car, three rowdy boys making the volume nearly as loud as their concert should be tonight. Louis shutters slightly and closes his eyes, taking a deep shaky breath. Zayn's brow furrows at the sight of his best mate and he places a hand to his knee. "You alright, Louis?" He says with a small frown. Louis takes a shuddering breath and rubs at his thighs anxiously. "I've got a headache..." He breathes softly that the boys barely hear him at all. Harry frowns hard. "Oh love...come here.." He tugs on Louis' arm but Louis doesn't move, only lies his head back on the seat and presses a hand to Harry's thigh. Harry gives his shoulder a comforting rub and the rest of the boys make sure to keep their voices down. "Do you want an Advil? I've got some in my pocket. Figured I'd be the one with a headache.." Harry whispers softly in Louis' ear. Even the soft voice makes Louis' cringe in pain as his head pounds viscously inside of his skull. He furrows his brow and swallows hard, nodding ever so slightly. Harry fishes it out of his pocket and slips it into Louis' shaky hand. "I've got some water." Niall offers in his usual cheery voice. Louis cringes and presses his fingers into his head. "Sorry.." Niall apologizes, voice softer this time. He passes Harry the bottle of water and Harry helps Louis take a small sip. "You don't want anymore?" Harry asks him, massaging his shoulder. Louis slightly shakes his head and places a hand to his stomach. "Oh love, it's messing with your stomach?" Louis gives a short nod. The van stops in front of their hotel room and the  other three boys step out quickly, rushing into the doors. Harry helps Louis out of the van and keeps a steady hand on his back as the boy walks slowly towards the door. The sun beams down on his face and when he steps into the lobby of the hotel, the lights are equally as bright. Harry curses under his breath and fishes out his sunglasses from his pocket, putting them over Louis' eyes. Louis shoots him a small smile and Harry puts both hands up to Louis' eyes, shielding the sides of them where light might jump through. It's an awkward and slow walk to the elevator but  they make it and Harry helps Louis inside. Louis' face crumples, once out of sight of other hotel patrons, and Harry frowns. "Oh Boo...it's really bad, huh?" Louis takes in a shaky breath and nods. "Come here, love.." Harry hums and pulls him to his chest. The elevator dings, making Louis cringe again, and Harry helps him out onto their floor. He holds onto him with one arm as the other finds his room key. He slides it into the door and it pops the lock open. Harry helps Louis slowly inside. Louis immediately falls to the bed and curls up with a gasp of pain. His hands go straight to the sides of his head as he massages his temples. "C-can you turn the lights off?" Louis rasps out quietly from the bed. "Of course, love." Harry quickly turns the lights off and sits down on the bed beside Louis. "Come on, Lou. Lets get you out of these clothes so you'll be a bit more comfortable." He takes off his shoes and Louis curls his legs up to himself. "Ok boo, we need to get that stuffy jacket off, ok?" Louis grunts quietly and Harry frowns. "I'm sorry, love. But you'll feel so much better with it off." Louis sits up with a painful gasp and Harry makes quick work of slipping his jacket off. Louis quickly lies back down and turns over on his belly, burying his head in his arms. "Do you need anything?" Louis doesn't answer. "Do you need some water?" Louis shakes his head slightly. "The fan on?" Another shake of his head. "A-" "Harry, please.." Louis whimpers slightly. Harry shuts his mouth and nods, even though Louis can't see him. He sits back on the bed and snuggles beneath the covers with a sigh. Louis slowly unfolds himself and wiggles until his head is on Harry's chest. Harry smiles and massages Louis' temple slightly. Louis sighs in relief and Harry smiles. Louis is asleep in mere minutes. - When he has food poisoning.. "Chinese?" "No, ew." Zayn calls, throwing a piece of wadded up paper at Liam's head. Liam rolls his eyes. They've just done their seventh show on the Where We Are Tour and every single one of them are starving but no one can seem to make a decision on what to eat. "How about Mexican?" Niall offers. "Absolutely not. Not with you on the bus." Louis says with a laugh. "Italian?" "We had that last week!" Harry whines. "Alright that's it. All of you can just starve. I don't know what you want to eat." Liam growls, crossing his arms. Harry laughs. "Bit of a baby, Payno." Louis taunts. "How about wings? I'm dying for some peri peri wings." "We're in the US, Niall. There's no Nandos here." Niall whimpers. "There's a wing place coming up on the right, though. Want me to stop?" Their bus driver asks. There are four shouts of yes and Liam rolls his eyes. "I name every type of food in the world and he gets it on his first try." All the boys order what they want, Louis' being the ever defiant one ordering a burger instead of wings like everyone else, and the driver picks up the food for them, bringing it back to the bus. The boys stay quiet for all of thirty minutes as they scarf their food down, leaving not one bite left. "That was perfect. Who wants to watch a movie?" Liam asks, standing up. Four lazy shouts of yeah hit his ears and he smiles, finally getting something right. He turns on a movie and all five boys get comfortable on the couch, limbs tangled and cuddled up all tight. Louis begins to feel a bit queasy and overheated halfway through the first film. He squirms and turns on his side but the queasy feeling in the pit of his stomach remains. He squirms again and pulls himself out of the pile of limbs he's under. "Where are you going, Tommo?" "The bathroom, is that alright with you, Liam?" Louis sasses, hand presses into his now aching middle. He's hoping the bathroom trip will have him feeling a bit better. He heads inside and tries going with no success. He groans as the sick feeling in his stomach grows and the ache spreads throughout his whole belly. He turns off the light after washing his hands and presses a hand to his stomach, rubbing it back and forth. "Babe?" Harry asks, seeing how pale the boy's face is, "Are you doing ok?" Louis sits on the chair beside the couch and rubs at his stomach again. "I feel sick to my stomach all of a sudden.." He takes a deep breath and grimaces. "Did you throw up?" Niall asks, watching him in concern. Louis shakes his head slightly, groaning when it only makes him feel more nauseous. "No....feels like I might though..." "Are you sick?" Harry asks, walking over to him and pressing a hand to his forehead, "You feel clammy..but not warm or anything.." Louis shakes his head. "I think...I think maybe my burger wasn't cooked right..I didn't feel sick before..." "Oh mate...that's the worst.." Niall says, remembering all his battles with food poisoning. Louis' in for a long night if he does have it, Niall knows that for certain. "Ugh...I don't want to throw up..." He moans, burying his face in his hands. "It feels better to have it out than in, Tommo. Take it from me." Niall says with a shake of his head. "Ugh..please don't say stuff like that right now...." Louis mumbles, taking another deep breath, "Fuck I feel so sick..." "Maybe your food just isn't settling. Just try and relax a bit, ok? I'll get you a ginger ail." Harry offers, walking into the kitchen area. "Mmmgh..." Louis moans, pressing both of his hands to the seat he's on. "Lou?" Louis breathes in through his nose and out of his mouth slowly, blocking the noises from around him. His stomach rolls and rumbles within him, grumbling out sickly. He burps sickly and presses a fist to his mouth. "Tommo..." Liam says, standing up. Louis dry heaves again and Harry rushes from the kitchen. Louis hops up from his seat and stumbles to the bathroom, crashing to his knees and vomiting up the food he's just consumed. Harry follows quickly behind him, rubbing his back and whispering sweet nothings into his ear. Once he's finished (for the moment), Harry helps him get his toothbrush ready to brush his teeth, and steps out giving him some space. He makes quick work of pushing all three boys off the couch and prepares it for when Louis comes out again. "Did he get sick?" Zayn asks. Harry bites his lip hard and nods. "Oh yeah...it's food poisoning for sure." Niall wrinkles his nose. "Poor Tommo.." Louis stumbles out of the bathroom, arm wrapped around his stomach. "Come lie down, love." Harry coo's, standing up and helping him to the couch. Louis groans and lies down, curling up on himself. "You ok, Louis?" Niall asks him. Louis groans and shakes his head. "Feel shit.." Harry frowns. "You need to drink a bit, babe. Try this ginger-ale, it should settle your stomach a bit." Louis groans. "I don't think my stomach can handle anything right now, Haz.." "You need to drink something, Louis or you're going to get dehydrated." Louis groans again and holds out his hand miserably. Harry smiles and hands him the glass. "Small sips." Louis slowly sips on the soda and Harry sits down beside him, rubbing his back. Harry thinks he's asleep moments later until he groans miserably. "Louis?" "That ginger-ale isn't sitting well in my stomach..." He moans. Seconds later, he's stumbling to the loo again. Harry's there to rub his back and hum to him until he's finished. Once he's done, Harry helps him brush his teeth again and pulls a bucket out from beneath the sink, taking it with them to Louis' bunk. "Just in case." Harry hums, "Get some sleep, Boo." "Harry?" "Yeah love?" "Thanks." Harry shrugs. "I love you. No need to thank me, I just want you to feel better." "You make everything better." - When he has the flu.. Niall cackles as he sees Louis laid out miserably on the tour bus couch, coughing into his arm and groaning. "I told you to get your flu shot.." It's the middle of OTRA and Louis has been feeling a bit under the weather for a few days now, headache, a sore tummy, just overall tiredness and soreness, and today it hit its peak. He was sent hurling over the toilet just as the sun rose. Harry checked his fever and it was at 102.5. The doctor was called and Louis was given the diagnosis of the flu. And Niall has been taunting him for hours about being healthy because HE got the flu shot. It's not Louis' fault he's afraid of needles that don't print beautiful art on his body. "Shut up, Niall. I hate you." "Somebody's grumpy." Liam says with a smile, walking onto the bus. "I feel awful...Harry, make them stop being mean to me." Harry smiles and sits on the couch beside Louis. "Stop being mean to my baby. Can't you see he's sick?" Niall cackles and Louis throws a pillow at his head. "Ugh my stomach hurts. Harry, make my stomach quit hurting..." Louis pouts, pulling Harry's hand to his tummy. "I wish I could, love. Want some more medicine?" "And throw up again? No thanks. Your hand should do the trick." "Ok. I don't think I need to hear this." Niall says, pressing his hands to his ears. "To rub my stomach you bloody idiot." Louis growls before coughing into his arm again and groaning. "I'm dying, Harry. Please say good things about me at my funeral." Harry laughs. "Louis, you aren't DYING, love. You've just caught the flu." "But I can't BREATHE, Harry. My nose is blocked and my lungs HURT. What if I just stop breathing?" "Then we won't have to hear you talk so much." Liam says with a laugh. "HARRY.." "Liam, stop being mean to him. He's ILL." "Oh please Harry, you KNOW he's getting on your nerves too." Louis gasps and frowns. "Yes you are, love. But I still love you anyway." "Hmph. Well I hate all of you." Louis grumbles, turning towards the couch. "Oh come on, babe." "Hush, I have a headache." "Still want that tummy rub?" Louis hmphs again but turns over. "You can rub my tummy but you can't talk to me." Harry laughs. "I love you too, babe."
