I was thinking about that post about redemption I just reblogged, and I think it’s worth pointing out just how difficult and time consuming it would to de-radicalize or “redeem” Lilliana. And I think Essek’s redemption in campaign 2 is actually a really good example of what I’m talking about.

First of all, what the Nein did to redeem Essek was not slowly and politely talk him through why what he did was wrong. They didn’t even know he did anything wrong. What they did was continually reach out to him and give him a support system of friends he did not have before. Notably, friends who he could be comfortable sharing his worldview around: he was an atheist* in a theocratic society who had to hide his worldview in order to have any social, academic, or governmental standing. The mighty nein were probably the first people he could be himself around, and creating a change in his personal life is what led to a change in his ideology. Notably, he did most of the actual deconstructing of his ideology on his own, some before the big betrayal reveal and a lot after. The Nein helped with that directly a little, but the main thing they did was offer him a personal connection he had stakes in, and a people in his life with different world views he hadn’t seen up close before.

This is pretty true to life, in the real world, most people who leave radical or bigoted groups leave at least partially because of a change in their personal life. Even if they do leave because of someone directly challenging their worldview, it’s usually someone they care about who challenges them in a non-aggressive way. It’s still personal.

Secondly, this took a lot of time. I can’t remember exactly how long they spent in the Dynasty, but they befriended Essek over a really long period of in game and out of game time. The cast spent actual real world hours talking pretty much one on one with Essek, and the party spent weeks, maybe even months slowly getting to know him and bringing this support structure into his life. Essek spent even longer actually thinking through and deconstructing on his own. The change in his worldview between the ship and the outpost really shows this, he did a lot of the thinking that led him to change by himself over a lot of time we weren’t there for. They could not have gotten him to actually change his mindset, fully realize what he did was wrong of his own free will, in anything approaching a short amount of time. This was a time consuming process.

All this to say: this is the kind of effort it would take to legitimately de-radicalize Lilliana. She has been in the Vanguard for ~25 years, she most likely joined when she was in her early to mid 20s, and she gave up all personal connections, even her daughter and her husband to join. Not only has her entire ideology been built around this being the right thing to do, her entire personal life is contained within the Vanguard. It’s most likely where she gets any housing or money or really anything from. It is her whole life, and she believes wholeheartedly in it. The level of time and effort it took to get Essek to organically change his mind is most likely the level it would take to get Lilliana to change hers, if not more.

And they don’t have that time. Lilliana is actively doing harm now, she is helping the Vanguard release Predathos right now, they simply do not have the time to redeem her. It sucks, but pragmatically speaking, it is simply not worth the time and effort. Essek gave away the beacons in the past, but also, the Nein did not know he did that for their early friendship. If the Nein had known, they probably would not have put in all the work it took to get him to change. They probably couldn’t have. Lilliana might be able to be redeemed in theory, but so can a lot of people who do very bad things. Focusing on that redemption process is prioritizing Imogen’s complicated feelings over the harsh reality that this is a war, and Lilliana is a key figure in that war doing a great deal of harm. It sucks, but I do think it’s time to move on, and I think Imogen is now leaning that way.

*atheist is a loose term here, it’s hard to be an atheist in a world where gods are proven to exist, but it gets the point across

Every week I try my best to rush things and help with parts that are not mine so we can pass the class and everytime im let down because no one wants to fucking work

#i tried...so hard...to do as much as i could very early even though i could have worked on other stuff #just so the others could have an easier time with their parts #and yet of course once again they left everything for the night before #i hope they die and go to hell #im so tired #i dont even have the energy to get mad at them im just. disappointed. in me being such a fucking idiot #i should just give up. i dont know why i keep trying #i cant complain because everyone will just tell me 'well then fix it yourself' i cant i was barely able to get the drawing program working #maybe im tired of always fixing everything for everyone else. why. i never get anything in return #i just get sadder and sadder while i have to see others try to play victlms and oh how hard they have it even though they never do shit #i cant trust next week will be better #they will just not work again. and then we will not have the opportunity for a second chance #and then i'll have to spend all the winter holiday working while those two just stare at me and act like of course we will work this time :)#its. embarrasing. i cant enter that class. this is so embarrasing #a lot of the stuff i did wasnt even added so it feels like i worked for nothing #im so tired and sure those two jerks are sleeping like nothing while im over here going manic at the thought of how bad everythings gonna go #and you know whats worse? i know its because they keep waiting for me to swoop in and do everything #they tried to convince me to do stuff and then when i said i didnt have the means tried to rope me into using theirs #yknow. do the job THEY could do while they prioritized something else #who cares about me. poor poor them have so many deadlines and are sad and whatever the fuck excuse they like to throw #im sad af too and im still trying. you guys arent helping. no ones helping #haunted.txt

I was going to do this at some point but others also wanted it... so! CatNap time! This is my version like with DogDay, so maybe read that one first to understand my AU? Pure brainrot, barely proofread, there may be mistakes.

I'm just going to say this, the first thing I read about CatNap is he likes watching his friends sleep.

So that's how this starts.

As usual, CatNap has a cartoon/plush form and a monster form in my AU.

I talk a bit more about this in the DogDay concept.

CatNap, in his more innocent plush form, is docile, gentle, bashful, and highly impressionable according to the wiki.

CatNap can have an eerie presence but he is usually very calming.

He prioritizes proper rest, especially towards you.

When left all alone in Playcare, he becomes a hunting beast who worships The Prototype.

He's not Theo in this version, he's his own thing.

He's sadistic and enjoys the hunt in his more beastly form.

However... he isn't heartless... as in this concept he cares for you a lot.

Let's use this concept just to discuss his overall behavior like I did in the last one.

CatNap's plush/cartoon form still manages to get up to just about the waist of an adult on two legs.

Although the cat also likes to roam on four legs.

CatNap has a lavender smell in his fur, a scent known to calm and put others to sleep.

Although... that isn't exactly what he uses to put you to sleep.

Like in canon, CatNap has the ability to release Poppy Gas from his lungs.

Said gas creates hallucinations and even puts the target asleep.

CatNap likes it when his best friend sleeps....

So, the purple cat often likes to crawl on your lap, release some of the gas, and puts you to sleep as he nuzzles into you with a purr.

Yes, I feel I want to make CatNap purr in my version.

CatNap likes to wrap his long tail around you and follows you around loyally.

He wants to make you happy, healthy, and full of energy!

The only way to do that is a good night's sleep, right?

So let him help you.

CatNap definitely also uses his lavender scent to calm you, too.

He just wants his friend to hold him and sleep...

He'll watch over you like a good friend should.

Then there's the monster form.

He's still very dedicated to you, even when he roams the area like a stalking cat.

CatNap watches over you like a hawk, a caretaker at heart.

In his larger form he looks more unnerving, crawling on all fours like huge hunting cat.

He carefully stalks prey (and you) in the shadows, disorienting them with Poppy Gas before striking.

Unlike DogDay he doesn't bother hiding his predatory nature.

He doesn't care if blood or bits of flesh stain his purple fur when he eats.

His lavender scent still lingers despite the dirty blood smell when he's near you.

The large cat often tries to curl around you in his larger form, purring softly as he encourages you to sleep.

If you try to leave his long tail prevents it... he'll even give you Poppy Gas if you still struggle.

If you think about it... CatNap would be very similar to Moon from FNAF... except CatNap is more... religious?

Speaking of that, CatNap may view you as a gift from The Prototype.

His god has rewarded him for his loyalty!

He'll cherish you as his Best Friend....

CatNap would not hurt you as he views you as his gift and Best Friend.

He often swaps between his smaller cartoon/plush form and his monster form.

If he isn't on a hunt and doesn't want to scare you... he'll swap to his more docile form and encourage you to hold him.

Admittedly... his purr and lavender scent is enough to make you want to sleep anyways.

CatNap is mostly sadistic towards others, like DogDay and the other Critters if they were still alive somehow.

CatNap is possessive of his newfound pal.

He growls and hisses when you try to leave or if you mention any other Toy Mascot.

Even if you did escape, CatNap is hot on your tail, stalking you from the shadows.

Next thing you know the room you're in fills with red mist... you start to hallucinate... the last thing you see before you collapse is the monstrous form of a predatory cat.

Then you wake up back where you once were... with a purple plush cat wrapped in your arms purring away.

It looks like you aren't leaving the claws of CatNap after all....

Miguel O'Hara

- This guy... has some long ass toenails. Type of toenails that poke you at night in bed, and tear holes in his socks.

It's maybe somewhat related to the claw thing he's got going on? Has a lot stronger and faster-growing nails than the average person... but the real problem here is that he's TERRIBLE about clipping them. Claims it doesn't bother him even remotely and that you're the one overreacting when you ask him to... but hardly anything gets through to him about it. You probably even offer to do it for him one day, thinking the offer of a foot massage would sway his thinking and that it'd actually work... but he fought you on that just as easy...!!!

...which is how you came to the conclusion that you have a man who'll even argue w/ you over toenails. Petty boy.

- Miguel is also tired 24/7. AND yeah, it's pretty hard to be un-sympathetic towards that, but he's tired in the... I'm-gonna-prioritize-this-one-last-email-over-saying-goodnight-to-you way. Which gets real irritating when you're asking him to help you out w/ anything, like cleaning up or answering a question or JUST HAVING A DAMN CONVERSATION W/ YOU and he's using "I'm tired" as an excuse when his response is shitty or distracted.

Like one of those stupid guys whose always squinting at their damn iPad when you ask what he wants for dinner... which is ironic given that he'll get snippy at you for not giving him your full, entire attention whenever he wants it. Type of man to start picking imaginary lint off your head when you're simply trying to finish up a text before engaging him so that you aren't distracted.

- Odd about Lyla. Not that he loves her or anything, but she'll like pop up to give him updates about whatever even if you're MID-MAKEOUT session and he won't change that setting. Pulling away from your lips all pouty and squinty only to glare at his watch for thirty seconds before trying to go right back into kissing you.

No. No sir.

(Lyla will also always say something to or-but-usually-and about you, which... Okay, she's an AI and doesn't Get It... but it's still weird because it feels like someone you don't know just walked into the room.)

- Picks his nose when he's too busy to find a tissue, and forgets to sanitize his hands after. Denies this when you tell him.. but you've witnessed this multiple times (he's weirdly kind of whiney for a dude and lazy for a workaholic LOL).

Hobie Brown

- Lovely boyfriend because he doesn't give a crap about your appearance or the idea of needing to "look nice" for a man... but also stupid, nuisance boyfriend because this means he doesn't give one hoot if you try to get all gussied up for him. Nags you about wasting time getting ready because he doesn't need you to do all that instead of just saying "THANK YOU, YOU LOOK NICE." Even probably complains about you feeding into gender stereotypes or w/e when you do something like shave your legs or pluck your eyebrows😭

You try to talk to him about this, ask if he even cares that you tried to look nice, and he skirts around admitting it because he has an argument for everything. "'oughta know I think you're pretty either way"-ass when you just spent an hour trying to look all good for him.

- Tries to share the most obscure music with you... which is like, sweet in concept, but weird when it actually happens since it's never like a generic love song but an eleven minute underground jam session.

Which isn't to say he has bad taste in music, usually it's fine if not fantastic... but you try to tell him you don't want to listen to some dude's first draft of himself banging on a drum set for a full album and he's like: "tsk."

HOBIE. TSK??? FUCKING TSK????????? WHAT ABOUT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE LIKE????????

(He'll also use his to get out of listening to your music. Claiming his "inconsistency" is why he liked your playlist yesterday but not today. Stop!!!)

- And you know I gotta say it, he's a punk, after all: absolutely refuses to clean his favorite leather jacket, and it smells RANK. He's genuinely sentimental about it, though... and if you even try to bring up cleaning it somehow (even if very gently), he's acting like you betrayed him. Goes through the five stages of grief over you asking him not to wear it on one of your dates, and teases you by TALKING to it:

"Mumma didn't mean that, jackie. She just doesn't understand our lifestyle, does she?" while giving you a (lighthearted) stink eye.

Regarding if this reclist might be useful for you... there are a lot of Astarion fics, a lot of tags used and a lot of preferences! I’m writing this as a blurb because I just had so many random ideas LOL. I hope this is okay!

Okay Azriel would be smitten by you, and you by him, but like the entire IC could just see it because of the special treatment you got in every little thing and Azriel literally didn’t treat anyone else like this. Princess treatment fr without even officially being his princess.

He would be so caring and kind to you, a complete gentlebat, holding doors open, pulling your chair out for you, will offer to carry whatever you are carrying for you, etc…

He would basically be your personal escort while visiting other courts, going out, or just while strolling through Velaris. He would always be beside you but he would purposefully slow his stride to fall back a bit, making sure he could look at all of your surroundings, sending glares to anyone who seemed like a threat. Even if the threat is literally just the butcher at the local meat market holding a knife that was casually pointed at you in conversation. Azriel gave the man a death stare behind you and you were left wondering why the conversation ended so abruptly…

It got to the point where even Rhys felt abandoned by his Spymaster. Azriel had always prioritized guarding his High Lord, his brother, but now he was giving all of his attention to you. (He would act mildly offended but didn’t really care he just thought it was funny because Azriel used to always be so attentive. And also Rhys adores you so it’s fine.)

Now, everyone in the IC, in fact, everyone in Velaris, knows that Azriel does not like to be touched. Like it takes a lot for him to be comfortable with someone touching him and he’ll tolerate it but you won’t ever see him going out of his way to touch someone unless absolutely necessary. However, when it comes to you, he finds any excuse to touch you or have you touch him. It’s like he wants to recover all the physical touch he’s avoided his whole life through you. He would never openly admit this, no, not until later on but something in him begs to feel your skin.

For example, when he puts his leathers on he’ll make some random ass excuse to get you to put your hands on him. “I think I’ve got all my buckles in place, could you double check for me?”. When Cass heard him say this he was about to burst laughing, because for mothers sake, Azriel had been buckling and unbuckling his leathers for centuries and had never asked anyone to double check, it was literally muscle memory at this point. Of course, Az sent Cass a death glare that dared him to say something so Cass held in his laugh, raised his hands and walked away. But he definitely told Nesta, and then Nesta told Feyre, and of course, Feyre told Rhys. Rhys told Mor, and soon everyone was overly aware of the excuses you guys made just to touch each other. When Azriel asked you to double check his leathers, you thought it was a great idea and asked him to do the same for you.

Azriel took this job very seriously, his gloved hands would roam your body, checking each and every pocket, lace, buckle, button. He would make sure everything was perfectly in place. He never groped and never overstepped his boundaries, just very diligently ran his hands through every part of your body. It would be hard to keep your cheeks from blushing and your belly from fluttering, it was also hard to cover up how much it turned you on to have him look after you. And oh gods, when he got to the holsters around your thigh….. Let’s just say thank the mother that Azriel was so concentrated in his task that he didn;t realize how visibly flustered you were. But everyone else definitely noticed.

It basically became a routine for you both before any mission to touch every inch of each other's body. So much so that Azriel now just couldn’t let you go on mission without doing an “inspection”, as he liked to call it, and he wouldn't leave on any until you checked him. You just really really cared about each other's gear being properly set., definitely wasn’t just an excuse to feel each other up.

The whole IC truly found it hilarious and would talk about it behind y’alls back. It was just so obvious to everyone how infatuated you were with each other, so obvious to everyone except the two of you.

Azriel also kind of assigned himself your personal flyer. One time you asked Cass to fly you over to the house of wind and Azriel’s heart just about broke. You didn’t ask him because he was busy doing some work and Cass was just lounging around but he took it sooo personally. Of course he never told you that, instead he took it out on Cass by not speaking to him for a day LOL. From that day on he made sure to always ask you if you need a lift before waiting for you to ask.

He was also playful around you, one might even say goofy, a rare sight for anyone that had known Azriel. If you were ever spaced out he would nudge you a bit with his wing, making you stumble a bit. You would send him a glare and he would have a smirk on his face.

Or if you were super concentrated on a book or something and he wanted your attention he would flap his wings, sending a gust of wind to mess up the pages. You would huff in annoyance, shut the book, and look at him, only to find him reading his own book acting like he didn’t just do that.

But you would also get him back, with the help of his shadows of course. Like when you were feeling playful, you would maybe take one of daggers or something and then you would run off and hide, a few of his shadows helping you find the darkest hiding spot and never snitching on you. That was another thing no one else had seen, his shadows fully listening to anyone other than him ?? Like hello ??? How did Azriel not realize what that meant ?? But he was just so blissfully comfortable around you and everything seemed so normal, that he never really gave it a second thought. He always knew the only reason he was a Shadowsinger was because the shadows allowed it so he just kind of accepted it.

Most of all though, the IC was grateful for the friendship (soon to be more in their opinion) that you and Azriel had nurtured. They would abstain from teasing him because you were just so good for Azriel. It became a regular occurrence to find Azriel napping by you, or the both of you snoozing on the couch, your head or feet on his lap or maybe even his on yours, when Mor saw him sleeping on you that one time she audibly gasped. She was so giddy with excitement that she ran to tell the others. They all came one by one, so as to not spook the shadows, to take a peek and all their hearts melted a little more.

He felt so relaxed around you that he just dozed off quite easily now. And they all saw the gradual disappearance of the bags under his eyes. Everyone knew Azriel barely slept but now he seemed to fall asleep so easily whenever he was near you. He just felt safe. You had always been a napper and he had finally caught on to the art of napping.

Another thing everyone started noticing was that Azriel was cooking a whole lot more than usual. He was always a good cook, Rhys and Cass would recall every now and then how they probably would have lived off beans and oatmeal during their younger years if it hadn’t been for Azriel’s cooking. His mom had always cooked him comforting meals, one of the few comforts she could afford her son given the environment he grew up in, so Azriel had always seen cooking as a way of showing someone he cared.

So even though Azriel would cook for everyone from time to time, he started doing it more frequently and everyone could see it was all for you. He would make enough food for everyone in the IC but in their opinion, it wasn’t a coincidence that he always asked you what you were craving, never asked them, always cooked your favorite meals, and always, always, prepared your plate first.

He would always serve your plate the way you liked it, and would have you wait at the table while he brought it for you. He never served himself first, not even the High Lord or the High Lady. They found it incredibly amusing how he treated you like royalty and basically ignored them when you were around. (Not that they expected that treatment from him, but it was certainly funny to see Azriel go from overly observant of everything and everyone to basically having tunnel vision for you.)

And it wasn’t just big meals it was like anytime he was cooking for himself he would make you something too, a snack, a dessert, a juice, a tea literally he just started including you.

Now, he wasn’t the only one to do these sweet things for you, you definitely had your own ways of cluelessly showing your devotion for him. Like you would get him oils, and soaps, and salts to help him relax. “Okay AZ, this one’s for sleep, this one’s for sore muscles, this one’s to help you concentrate…” and you would make sure to jot down everything so he wouldn’t get them mixed up and could get the best use out of them. One time it even prompted Cass to ask Nesta where his smellies were after you had been out in the town with her and had picked up all the goodies… Now that caused a whole scene, meanwhile you and Az were in your own little world smelling all the tiny bottles.

You would also polish all his weapons whenever you had some down time. Or you would read a book and take little notes along the margins and then you would give it to him, sharing all the thoughts you wrote down in those pages. He would then write his own notes and give it back to you, because you were each other's confidants, best friends, crushes (still not time to admit that), and very obviously (to everyone excluding the both of you), mates.

I could literally keep going LOL but I’ll stop now. Basically Azriel is just protective and caring and loving towards you and the rest of the IC notices everything he does for you and the effect you’ve had on him and they are patiently waiting for y’all to finally kiSS. Feyre and Cass have a bet going on when the bond will snap and who will feel it first.

(this post was made according to my own personal opinion and personal experience with people that have some of these placements, what i say here is not all set in stone and can vary from person to person, it's for entertainment purposes only!)

Saturn is the Father, and also The Devil in Tarot. He is meant to teach hard-to-take valuable lessons and has a firm hand in realism. What must be done, and, if not accomplished in a certain time, He will meet a person with even more hard lessons until they learn, mature and accomplish what is meant for them. Saturn is also very well-known for delaying or complicating something if the person is not ready, or hasn't gone through enough lessons to understand what is that they truly want and what they truly need; and how to get it. In this next post you should look for your house placement, as Saturn is a generational planet, many people will have the same sign, but not the same house placement, which is way more important when it comes to Saturn!

Saturn in 4th house: Saturn in here is extremely complex, not quite like having Saturn aspecting the Moon, but just as difficult as it can be, this placement opens many doors to traumatic events in childhood that will follow the person until adulthood, these people have experienced a lot of emotional distress and negligence from parents since a young age, making them the center of the house as the home could not function correctly without them. Saturn in 7th house: Saturn here is completely interior, despite it being in the house of marriage and partnerships, it conceptualizes the idea of learning to love oneself before loving another individual, in groups of people this person doesn't feel restrained or threatened or uncomfortable, when it's a one-on-one relationship, everything changes. Saturn in 11th house: Saturn here, like with the tenth house, it also feels comfortable since this house is the house of Aquarius, a sign ruled by the same planet, and the person that has this placement might find it easier to go through some lessons in their life and are very self-aware of their surroundings, almost to a fault, they can become very cold and analytical when dealing with people, specially groups of people, they probably grew up in a household were others rarely visited or their parents were very lonely people, since a very young age these people were used to being alone but it can be the case of being forced to grow up too quickly and could never relate to people their own age. VERNON: he always opens and responds to the links you send in a timely fashion. sometimes it's just a haha, maybe an emoji, and other times it's a quick paragraph of his thoughts. to be honest, this is such an overlooked act of love because it takes a lot of energy to watch something when you're tired and busy—and you know he's tired and busy—but he pushes through for you. "you can watch it later," you tell him once. you just sent him an Instagram reel about cats, and two minutes later, you hear the audio coming from his phone. he just shrugs and reacts to it with a laughing emoji, even though he kept a straight face the whole time. "I might forget later," he says, reaching over to pinch your cheek, and leaves it as his only explanation, as if it's truly as simple as that. you can't bring yourself to do the same, though, and he's understanding when you finally respond to his links a week later, spamming his notifications. "sorry for the late response," you say at the very end, but he doesn't let you feel bad about it. when your thoughts and emotions are preoccupied, even a thirty second meme feels like an energy sapper and he gets it. he just does things because they're no big deal to him, but he doesn't want you to feel obligated to reciprocate.

CHAN: he's on his feet as soon as you need something. sometimes, it seems like he's his group's little errand boy, but no, he loves doing things for the important people in his life. (honestly, the entire group is if "acts of service" were people.) regardless of where you are—be it beside him or across the room—he always keeps an eye on your expressions and body language. "hey, chan, have you seen my—" you glance around your feet. "water?" in moments, he's at the table, pouring you another glass. "you put your cup away earlier." it's little things like this that make you feel appreciated, but you wonder if it's too much at times. not for you, but for him—is he really enjoying himself if he's always trying to take care of you? "of course," he says when you ask. he's in the middle of rolling up your sleeves since he noticed them dropping. when he's earnest like this, you can see the adoration in his gaze. if you address this in public, though, he just hides a chuckle, swiping his nose with his thumb. a confident hair flick as he says, "all in a day's work for the world's best boyfriend." the fake smugness all crumbles when you agree with him, though. he'll just sink his face into his hands with a few wait a minute's between giggles.

I've gotta admit, the take that Ed and Stede are "running away" from their problems at the end of s2 absolutely baffles me.

The thesis statement of this show, as we know, is "a lot of the things we are taught about being a man are wrong." Harmful ideas of what it means to be a man are at the core of Ed and Stede's issues with themselves: Stede struggle to feel like as much of a man despite loving softer things, Ed's feeling forced into a hyper-masculine caricature of himself. These are the core problems at the heart of these characters, obviously there's more to it but when you boil it down that's what we're working with. This is why Stede's trying to live up the ideal pirate image in s2e7 is important; he's getting a taste of what he thought he wanted so he can choose to leave it behind for what's really important. Ed, too, is still struggling at the end of the season with figuring out who Ed is, once he can break free from the Blackbeard persona.

What would be solved by sailing away, planning to continue as pirates at the end of s2? How would that be addressing their problems or helping them live more authentically? Ed has wanted to leave piracy since we met him, and yes, Stede enjoys piracy, but the idea that piracy is the true and right end-state for him is a very basic reading of the text I think.

Ed and Stede making the decision to try building a life together in their new shack isn't running away from their problems - it's Stede prioritizing Ed over a life of piracy, because piracy isn't what he wanted in the first place. He wanted to be a part of something, he wanted to marry for love, he wanted to be appreciated for who he is. It's Ed finally realizing in the finale that he can use violence as a tool to protect the people he loves, but he's also allowed to step away from it. Will the inn idea work out? Maybe. Maybe not. Who cares? It's not the inn that's important, really, it's that they're both choosing to commit to each other and taking this step towards living more authentically.

We already know exactly what "running away from their problems" would look like, and it's the plan Ed proposed in s1e9. He wanted to run away to China so their old lives could be "gone, dead, never were." Ed just wanted to forget about his past, and Stede was riddled with guilt - wherever they go, there they are. The difference between that plan at the end of s1 and Ed and Stede's new plan at the end of the s2 is, first of all, they're both all in and they know it, and, secondly, they're both getting a lot better at meeting themselves where they're at.

My villain origin story is people claiming that Riley's biggest crime in the series was being boring. He wasn't just boring. He was a passive-aggressive chauvinist who the show bent over backward to defend. A while back on Reddit, I made a list of reasons why Riley sucks. This is that list, and I'm adding to it.

The only reason he punches Parker is because Parker is mouthing off about a girl Riley likes. Everything about this interaction suggests that Riley has heard him say similar before, and hasn't cared until the woman in question was someone he had a vested interest in.

He calls Buffy stupid for not wanting to date him (if this guy slid into your DMs and called you stupid for turning him down, lbr, this would not lead into a healthy, lasting romance)

He immediately puts himself in competition with Buffy. Even at his most inoffensive, he says things like "I don't even know if I could take you."

He has an inherently chauvinistic view of the world (established in The Initiative)

He is upset that Buffy had a significant relationship before she knew him and assumes Buffy boinked Angel in The Yoko Factor

He uses abuser language to excuse his shitty behavior like, "I love you so much I can't think straight."

He decides that Buffy doesn't love him all by himself

When he decides that Buffy doesn't love him, he confides in Xander and doesn't communicate his relationship issues with Buffy

He wants to help Buffy but only in jobs that are "manly." In No Place Like Home, for instance, he nopes out when Buffy suggests he help with the spell to identify what might be wrong with Joyce. Even if there wasn't a lot for him to do, he could, idk, stick around to be moral support for his partner who is trying to figure out what might be attacking her mother. That seems like a pretty standard partner thing to do.

He gets upset that Buffy "doesn't get all worked up over him" the way she did with Angel when "getting all worked up" in CONTEXT means "isn't constantly miserable."

He is sad boi at Buffy in OoMM for also prioritizing her mother's health after she believes Riley is healed rather than sticking around to play nursemaid

He wants Buffy to show emotion over Joyce at a time when Buffy literally cannot (if you've never had a parent in the hospital with a life-threatening illness, maybe you don't know that there are times/places to break down and "in the hospital" where you're supposed to be strong isn't one of them)

He doesn't care that his girlfriend's mother is sick, possibly with something life-threatening; he cares that he got to be the hero of the piece, the shoulder for Buffy to cry on. His only reaction to any of that was to be hurt that Buffy didn't respond the way he thought she should; no concern for her well-being or Joyce's, just Riley getting his feelings hurt because he wasn't the center of Buffy's universe or the rock for her to lean on when all went to pieces

This is further confirmed by the way he just doesn't mention Joyce's absence at all in As You Were. When he leaves Sunnydale, it's after Joyce has had a successful operation. He returns and she's not there and no questions? No condolences? It's because he doesn't care.

He doesn't ask about Buffy's death when she lets him know she died.

He starts separating himself from the Scoobies and then gets mad for not being included

He literally cheats on Buffy with vampire sex workers (there are people who say they were not sex workers, but in a show where monsters are metaphors, you have to be especially dense or willfully obtuse to not realize this is what they are)

Riley intentionally puts himself in a position where he might be killed or turned specifically to SPITE BUFFY, which demonstrates his lack of consideration for what she might have to do later if things go bad

Riley blames Buffy for being roofied by Dracula (again, monsters as metaphor)

He never apologizes or owns that he was unfaithful

He blames his infidelity on Buffy, actually

The first time Buffy learns Riley isn't happy, she's told she should've seen it, which is classic victim blaming and happens from Xander AND Riley (and a good amount of fans who want to excuse that behavior)

He is fine with torturing sentient creatures, and in fact had a stake made specifically so he could torture vampires without killing them

He goes behind Buffy's back all the time

Riley was not boring. If he were boring, he would be inoffensive. Dull to watch but not rage-inducing. But he is rage-inducing because, despite all the passive-aggressive gaslighting bullshit he gets away with, people in this fandom still believe he was "Buffy's best boyfriend." That she was to blame for the deterioration of this relationship. That he was the healthiest of the Buffyverse men. The show does, too. That's why Xander (Wh*don's mouthpiece) gives that sanctimonious little speech to Buffy (the audience in this case) in Into the Woods to scold us for not treating Riley better. Then they double down in As You Were to make Buffy fawn all over herself to let this gaslighting asshole off the hook for everything he put her through.

Riley's sin is not being boring. It's that he was actually awful. Wh*don himself once called Riley a "healthy relationship" for Buffy, and if that doesn't tell you something, there's no talking to you.

-Frederick is one of those partners who isn’t around a lot. He’s often wholly consumed by music and spends long hours sat at the piano. He keeps a private music room and is strict about people coming in when he’s working. He needs focus. He struggles with prioritizing anything over his music, especially when he’s obsessed with perfecting a particular song. This will a life-long struggle for Frederick, but it is something he’s willing to make an effort towards correcting when he’s in love.

-Refer to his general headcanons post for specifics about his disorders; he requires a lot of grace and accommodation in a relationship. It’s almost certain that you’ll be putting more emotional labor into the relationship because Frederick has to put so much into just regulating himself. He’s easily overwhelmed, and has an avoidant attachment style due to his communication skills breaking down when he’s frantic enough. The best advice I can give is to establish a plan of action with Frederick that you can use on his worst days to help him.

-He’s not a “fun” or “spontaneous” socialite. He’s tired of changing who he is for social settings, of pushing his looks and playing sweet to gain favor. He still has to sometimes…which is why he doesn’t like when his partner suggests activities that would also require it. He doesn’t even want to have get-togethers with your friends, though he is willing to meet them after you’ve been together for a while. He’s not keen on spending a lot of time with them, mind you, mostly because it reminds him that he doesn’t have anyone in his side of things to introduce you to.

-In line with the above, with the exception of performances and networking, Frederick is a homebodied introvert. His date night ideas are often set on your property. A picnic in your garden, maybe? Stargazing? When he has the funds, he likes to hire a private chef to come prepare a nice dinner for you both. He’ll occasionally invite you into his music room to play for you, as well. Any song you’d like! Even if he doesn’t like it. You’re always the first to hear his new songs, and he often dedicates new ones to you.

-Frederick isn’t a bad housemate to have, which is fortunate since he’s there so much. Because he was disowned by his family, he’s had to develop some skills people of his birth typically don’t. He helps with the chores, cleans, and is a fair cook. He still occasionally needs help with little things, but those are few and far between. He yearns to go back to the days of not having to do these things himself.

-Frederick likes when you give him the option of being the dominant partner. That is, he likes when you look to him for decision-making. He does his best to be fair and consider both your opinions, if they differ, and he feels that you deferring to him like that means you have faith in his judgement. This goes for little things too, like just asking him to order for you when you’re out for dinner.

-Some of you may hate me for this…but I look at this man and think “foot fetish.” He’s certainly not a pervert about it, but you’ll notice over time that he compliments your shoes a lot (especially heels) and admires any pedicures you show off just a little too intensely. You and Miles approached the stoop of his apartment. He sighed, taking his keys out of his coat pocket.

He asked, with a genuine look of care in his eyes. This 'friendship' always felt better than any of the relationships you were in. You always felt like Morales genuinely raised your standards in men, he was always insisting on making sure your needs were prioritized over his own. Everyone always joked that you guys were soulmates, but only now do you finally understand what they were saying.

"Ok. Thanks again, Miles. For just....always being here for me."

"No, problem. It's my job!"

He exclaims, before opening the door. You two walk up a flight of stairs and make it to the apartment door, before he stops and checks on you one last time.

"Are you 100% sure that you wanna talk to them? We can honestly just walk past. I wanna make sure you're ok, mami."

Miles says, searching your eyes for any sign of discomfort.

You say, before he opens the door. The familiar scent of Chinese take-out fills your nostrils. You also hear the sounds of the TV in the living room, you weren't really paying attention, but from what you could gather it sounded like the news. As soon as you two walked in, Rio and Jeff snapped their heads over to the front door. They instantly became relaxed when they saw you and Miles together.

"Hey, Y/N! Come gimme a hug, mama!"

Said Rio, with a genuine smile on her face.

"Hey, Mrs. Morales!"

You say, excitedly before Walking over to her. When she pulled you in for a tight hug, she had a faint scent of Vanilla. You took notice of the familiar scent.

"She's good, I'll tell her that you asked."

"Ok, that's good. So....why were you walking with my son?"

Jeff asked, making Miles shoot his head in your direction. Jeff chuckled at his son's attentiveness to your every move.

"You know, that's how it started with your mom, son. Just taking her on walks, going over each other's houses, always wanting to hang out."

Jeff said, before walking over to Rio and placing his hands on her shoulders, leaving you and Miles standing awkwardly next to each other.

"Yea, what's that thing that you kids are saying now-a-days? You need to show her your 'W rizz', man!"

Rio said, making Miles grimace. You started chuckling, making Miles lighten up.

"Alright, that's enough of that! We're gonna go into my room, bye!"

There was a silence before Miles replied.

"Wait, but you know that leaves so much room for assumption, right? All you did was say 'I'm done', Ma. You gotta text him or something and tell him you wanna break u- wait, you do wanna break up, right?"

You sighed and took a few seconds to think about that question. Of course you didn't want to be in a relationship with Jaleel, but you still wanted someone to be with. You still wanted to feel loved.

"Of course I wanna break up with him. There's no question about that, I just don't wanna be single. I want someone to treat me nice and love me. I just don't know anyone who can care for me like that."

You obviously knew someone who could care for you like that, and his name was Miles Morales. He's the only guy in your life who would genuinely give you the type of relationship and respect you want. And as if Miles just read your mind, he sat down on his bed, next to you. He grabbed your chin, making you meet his gaze.

"I know someone who can."

He said, before slowly approaching your lips.

"Wait, Miles. Everyone's gonna start a bunch of rumors and shit if I get with you an hour after a break up."

You say, bullshitting. You knew that you did not care about what those people thought. You knew that you were really just scared to kiss miles. He's one of your closest friends and you didn't wanna lose that if the two of you broke up.

"Then, tell me to stop."

He said, before placing one of his hands on your waist and kissing your neck. The feeling of the kisses were slow and passionate like he's been waiting for so long to finally get his lips hands on you. You knew deep down that you couldn't tell him to stop, as you've been waiting for this moment too.

"Exactly."

The cocky boy said, before moving his head up to kiss your lips. You kissed him back, with the same slow, long-awaited energy that he had.
