Vanta’s design is heavily based off a bearded vulture because it fits for the au and also bearded vultures are so cool and pretty- my favorite bird fr

Vanta’s first language is french (yes this is based off the Eclipse & Solar speaking french thing)

Vanta is nicknamed “Captain” because in this au he is now the leader of the reaper troupe (which consists of him, Lunar, the BM twins, and KC—KC being the former leader, now “retired”)

Vanta—as well as all the other reapers—are wielders of dark magic and Vanta in specific is really skilled at shadow manipulation and shadow cloaking (aka how he hides his wings)

Lunar, whose nickname for the au is Candle, is Vanta’s righthand and they are quite close in this au at least at the start-

welcome to an au i like to call oops all avatars, where all the s1 archives staff all come from branching timelines back in time to try fixing the mistakes, but each timeline is a little different in a few ways. details under the cut

jon (eye): follows canon mainly up to the eyepocalypse, whereupon he's sent back in time to s1

martin (lonely): is largely the same up until the lonely aside from tim getting got by the not!them and sasha dying in the unknowing, and jon himself not being too far along in avatarhood where it's easily missed by martin, where jon getting lost in the lonely is the catalyst to martin becoming and in his rage he exits the lonely to murder elias and plukas in a blind rage, ending his timeline w the dead man's switch taking martin down in the process

tim (spiral): in this timeline, it's martin gotten by the not!them. sasha gets killed by jane prentiss during an investigation after being the one trapped in her flat, leading to both jon and tim spiralling and seeking revenge. tim takes to the corridors to find answers, and his door is what saves him at the end of the unknowing where jon dies. tim becomes as a spiral avatar and takes to tormenting the archive replacement staff and elias until he and helen end up warring and leading to the collapse of both avatars and ending the timeline

sasha (web): biggest divergence. jon is claimed bt the not!them in this timeline, leading to sasha investigating the house on hilltop road. martin was kidnapped by the not!jon, and tim was killed in the prentiss attack, leaving sasha all by herself to try fixing things. sasha meets annabelle cane and was learning to be a web avatar, where elias basically serves sasha on a silver platter to the circus because hes sick of spiders in his archives, ending the timeline w her death in the unknowing, where she falls through the crack in hilltop road and sends out panicked web strands and inadvertently brings all the othere back

it doesn't take long for the three archival assistants to realize they all know more than they should and that they're all from different timelines, but all three assume jon knows nothing because he died in all three of the timelines, and that he's just an ordinary human. thry do not know that he knows the actual most of all of them

my cowboy au grows

Sanji is a saloon owner who will quite literally kick you out if you start any shit. he's also one of the best quickdraws in the west. his aim isn't as good as the huntsman and part time bounty hunter Usopp but that's not really the point of quickdraw so he doesn't mind. Zoro is a cowboy dead set on being the best damn bounty hunter in the world. he also hates the time waster that is reloading so instead he decided to just carry 3 fully loaded rifles and toss them around like juggling pins for thrice the amount of ammo

My Cheese Melt AU is an alternate series of events beginning in Kindred Spirits (in which Vlad never sends Dani to capture Danny, because he convinced himself that it would be a waste to get rid of a perfectly serviceable clone so quickly, leading directly into him getting so unreasonably attached to her that he forgets all about the original "perfect son" plan) which then turns into a Dani inclusive, family dynamic focused rewrite of season 3. (the fic series starts with spirits less than willing)

Dani is present for certain important canon episodes (currently Eye For An Eye, Urban Jungle, and Living Large are the ones I've fleshed out) but she also gets episodes about her. Such as her first day at school, her obligatory identity crisis episode in which she recruits Sam and Tucker to help find her some hobbies and interests that are sufficiently different from anything Danny or Vlad likes, and Aloha From the Other Side, the vacation episode where her dad breaks Hawaii by simply being Vlad. Overall, she's a sweet kid who hilariously has a better moral compass than Danny and Vlad combined, but she also has INCREDIBLE capacity to be worse than both of them, if the situation calls for it. Her arcs focus on self discovery/identity, the looming threat of destabilization, and her relationships with Vlad and Danny.

Danny's relationship with Dani is more complex in this AU, because he doesn't trust "Vlad's daughter" at all at first. It doesn't help that the first time he meets her is in Eye For An Eye, right after sending the GIW to destroy Vlad's (and Dani's!) house. And now, Vlad is obnoxiously hellbent on replacing him with "Ellie Phantom" as the protector of Amity Park! But after Dani proves she has a mind of her own and hasn't been completely brainwashed by Vlad, and doesn't necessarily approve of his villainy, Danny shifts from animosity more toward concern for her. He knows Vlad well enough to realize that he's inevitably going to break her heart, and Danny is going to be there to protect her when it happens. (But what Danny doesn't know is that Vlad already broke Dani's heart when she discovered the truth about his initial plans for her before they moved to Amity Park. He saved her life in a fit of petulant guilt immediately after to make up for it, which is why she's still with him.)

And then there's Vlad himself. It would be helpful to think of his arc here as less of a redemption arc, and more of a domestication arc. Vlad is still a supervillain and Danny's arch enemy, but because of his parental attachment to Danielle his antagonist status is just as likely to be seen in him hauling Danny back to FentonWorks by the ankles because it's past his bedtime as it is in his latest cringefail brilliant scheme. In general, he finds himself in increasingly mundane situations by virtue of being involved in Dani's life, which generally results in comedy because Vlad is anything but equipped to handle parenthood (or mundane situations) normally. He's also allowed to have a rare reflective moment now and again and generally be a little more layered than just a villain. There's also increased opportunity for temporary allyships, because Vlad and Danny agree on Only One Thing: Dani is to be protected at all costs.

hi copper!!! this is a fantastic question!

so obviously typical irl rats have far shorter lifespans than the average irl tortoise. according to google (yes, be awed by my spectacularly in-depth wealth of research) the average pet rat lives between 2-4 years ish, and the oldest on record lived to be about 7. meanwhile, an African spurred tortoise (Splinter's species) averages more around a 50ish year lifespan in captivity, tho is suspected to possibly exceed 75 or more in the wild.

Now, the mutation does give us a lot of wiggle room for playing with these numbers. For the rat sons boys, id say their natural lifespan probably clocks in at about 45-55 years old? definitely not old by human standards, but not young young either. (though, its also important to note that the boys were exposed to the mutagen just days after being born.)

For Splinter, meanwhile, aging is slightly more complicated. He lived the vast majority of his life as a regular normal African spurred tortoise (well, non-mutated at least. there were perhaps some shenanigans of a more mystical variety going on before he was mutated, but thats a separate matter) He was about 70ish i think? when the boys were born and they were all exposed to the mutagen. so he is already distinctly an old man turtle papa. id guess he'd probably still have another eh lets say 25-30 years after his mutation. he could probably push it a little farther even with some mystic nonsense, but when push comes to shove id say his 'natural' post-mutation lifespan would put his death like a solid decade or two before his sons.

of course, the tricky part of the matter is that theres no way for Splinter to know any of this. theres no way for him to know how the mutation affected them all, or if it even affected them all in the same way. especially since the boys dont show many physical signs of mutation for the first few years, and just kinda look like normal rats, (albeit with a more human sort of intelligence) — what sort of health standard do you hold them to? what if they simply dont show external signs of sickness or old age anymore? how do you actually know if something is wrong?

for a while there Splinter is very worried that one of his babies will just essentially reach the end of their normal rat lifespan, fall and not get up again.

so mostly, he just tries to live in the moment, enjoying whatever time he does have with his little ones, taking each day as a gift <3

I am chewing on your sun god nika/king of hell zoro concept. I am in love with it. Luffy "death before loneliness" trying to make a sacrifice he would loathe with every fiber of his being and /zoro knowing this/. Zoro dragging him back down because Luffy may be a god but he's the captain of the strawhats first!!! They won't let him be alone ever again!!!

I know right. (Ah madoka magica you never fail me) I’m so glad you’re interested because I have been waiting to talk about this one!!!!

Luffy being faced with the choice to safe his crew/world by becoming Nika. However doing so would force him into a different plain of existence. He can’t be with his loved ones anymore. He will be alone forever, but they would be safe and happy.

Luffy would take it. If there are no other options, if everything else had been exhausted, Luffy would become Nika to save his crew.

Even if it destroyed him.

He would hate it. Like you said. He would rather die than be lonely. But I think he’d also do it with a smile on his face not just to reassure his crew but also because if it’s to save them, his family who he loves so much, I don’t think he would regret the decision. Yes the consequences suck, but can he truly be sad in the moment or with the outcome when they are safe?

Some might see it as an act of selflessness but to Luffy this is him being selfish. He’s doing this to protect what is his, his crew.

Then you have Zoro. Loyal beyond understanding.

The whole crew wants Luffy back. The world is celebrating and yet they don’t care. They would have found another way to win. They will find another way to win! And when they do they will bring Luffy back!

They crew is determined, but even after finding a different solution, which took forever (they never would have found it in time to stop Luffy in the first place) Luffy still doesn’t return to them.

And they can’t wrap their minds around why. Why isn’t he back? They solved the problem, there’s no reason for him to be Nika anymore.

But that’s just the thing. Luffy is Nika now. And unless they can separate Luffy from Nika’s influence, find someway to block Nika’s power, Luffy’s not coming back.

And considering they can’t even get to him, because different plain of existence and all, any plan they might have to cut of Nika’s influence (sea prism cuffs?) they can’t enact.

But Zoro’s not willing to accept that. No way in hell, if only gods can get to where Luffy is then Zoro will become one and drag Luffy back down to them.

Cue becoming the literal king of hell.

And you know what, I haven’t even told you the best part.

Zoro dies doing this. The crew is mourning. They know Zoro’s dying. They gather around for his final moments on the Sunny. His body has exhausted itself trying to find away to return Luffy to them. The crew knows this is the end.

But who should descend to their ship, Nika himself in all his glory.

He approaches Zoro with a smile. He’s starts talking about how he’s sorry for making Zoro (and the crew, but right now he’s speaking to Zoro specifically, and isn’t his first mate just fantastic still setting an example for the crew!) wait but now they can be together. Mortals can’t be in the realm of the gods but spirits/souls can.

Nika is here to collect Zoro’s soul. To bring him with him. Luffy is a selfish person. Sure he had to separate from his crew in this life time. But what’s a lifetime to an eternity? They can now be together forever.

His hope was that his crew would live out their lives and accomplish their dreams. That way they could join him without regrets. This was always his plan.

This plan was not communicated to the crew. Even in this moment he sounds like he’s talking nonsense.

Jimbei and Robin are starting to realize what Luffy’s plan was all along. But it’s Sabo (yes he’s here hello) who puts it together in startling clarity when he see who is behind Luffy. Ace is here. Smiling and happy. As soon as Luffy became Nika he plucked Ace’s soul and said your mine now.

The crew thought Luffy was alone for eternity, and he should have been. But nothing is impossible for Luffy. Nothing stops him from loving those around him. I bet it took like a week before he figured out how to pull spirits into his realm.

But Zoro’s to gone to hear or notices any of this. But he can feel Luffy getting closer, he will always recognize Luffy. (It’s not Nika to him, only Luffy) and when Nika reaches for his soul Zoro strikes, grabbing hold of Nika’s wrist and releasing so much conquerors haki, the universe itself bends.

If Luffy rewrote the world becoming Nika then Zoro will rewrite it again. This is now Asura reality.

Because whatever Zoro did worked. He wasn’t dying his soul was changing.

He shatters their current reality ripping Luffy straight out of Nika. The crew is screaming. Ace charges forward but there’s nothing he can do as the universe rips apart and rebuilds itself for a second time.

During the whole chaos Luffy is held tightly against Zoro’s chest. His captain is safe and he’s not letting go again.

Zoro rewrites reality.

When everyone comes to it’s a normal day on the Sunny. Sanji’s cooking breakfast, Nami is drawling her map, Robin and Jimbei are reading. Brook is playing music, and Franky is working on an invention. All is calm

Until Luffy, Chopper and Usopp barge onto the deck playing one of their games.

Zoro is on the deck finishing his “night watch” (because he just survived the darkest night, a world without Luffy) and smiles at them. Everything is back as it should be.

They even have guests coming to join them for breakfast as Fire Fist Ace and Flame Emperor Sabo. (It’s Zoro’s world. I’m sure when he was making it he felt Ace’s presences and was like why not bring him back)

And it’s perfect. They are all together. And Zoro will keep the crew and his captain safe, forever.

Except it’s not perfect

Luffy may not remember his time as Nika but he can feel that part of him pulling him. He gets the feeling that something is wrong.

It gets really bad whenever he is alone. He gets the feeling that he needs to be somewhere else. Nika starts to sink back in.

But Zoro’s always there. He can feel Nika trying to break free, to remake the universe again. He just wraps his arms around Luffy.

It’s a constant battle of wills between Nika and Asura. A battle that Zoro knows he’s only winning because Luffy is letting him. Because Luffy doesn’t remember why he became Nika in the first place, he has no context for why Nika is pulling so hard. All he knows is that Nika wants him to leave his friends, to leave Zoro. But why would Luffy ever abandon his crew? In what world would he ever leave them? He can’t imagine it.

So he lets Zoro win their battle of wills because he wants to stay with Zoro. Zoro would never keep him here if he didn’t want to stay (debatable) and Zoro would never hurt him.

Who remembers?

It’s debatable who remembers what at any given time. I think Zoro got rid of everyone’s memories of Nika’s world. To him it was kindness that the crew never knew a world without Luffy.

But there is one person who keeps remebering that world. Someone who is both part and not part of this new world and it’s not Luffy.

It’s Ace. He remembers the Devine realm Nika made for them since he was a part of it. He was dead in the main timeline and got to join Luffy in his divine plain once Luffy created it. He knows something is wrong with this new world.

And this is a problem for Zoro.

trying to explain the absolutely batshit concept that @possumclawz and I just created. there's layers.

First we have an AU where Minkowski's call went through and Koudelka believed her. He raises a stink, it's a huge PR thing where most of Goddard management gets fired. Kepler immediately gets a message saying "hey, get back home, things are going really bad and we need to save face" and they eventually come back to earth before anyone dies.

When they get back the entire crew of the hephestus (including hera) are given generous pensions and cushy low-risk jobs in the same city as a "please don't talk to the press about how bad things are" deal. Hilbert goes back to whatever he was doing in Russia.

Kepler is ready to go back to business as usual but the SI-5 were also reported as dead and also were made. very public in the outcry and so theyre still employed but they get 0 actual missions, jacobi and maxwell are specialists so they're kind of treated as freelancers, but Kepler is put as their "handler" which basically just means he takes messages for them, which he *hates*

Hera and Eiffel buy a smart house with the exorbitant hush money Hera got, because I think she likes the "omnipresent ai who manages everything" part of her job as long as she also gets a physical human body she can leave the house in.

maxwell and jacobi live together in the world's most terrible apartment.

Kepler has a big fancy house in a neighborhood with an HOA and nobody comes to visit him which makes him so upset so he just devotes himself to seeming like he has hobbies.

Minkowski and Koudelka offer Lovelace a spare room at their house since she doesn't really have anywhere else to stay.
