“Sensitive Urbanity: Atelier Deshaus in Shanghai” _ Exhibition by Atelier Deshaus, Shanghai, China _ RIBA, Practice Space, 66 Portland Place, London W1B 1AD [17.10.2022 - 26.11.2022] _ Photos: Spyridon Kaprinis [18.11.2022].
“Over the past two decades, the built projects of Atelier Deshaus have helped to define an emerging sense of public space within the rapidly growing city of Shanghai, contributing an unmissable strand of contemporary architecture in China’s most international metropolis. Atelier Deshaus’s distinctive approach is thus conceived as a sensitive response to constantly transforming urban conditions, thereby avoiding any presumed style or superficial symbolism or scenic spectacle. Instead, through award-winning schemes such as the Long Museum, the practice’s aim is to address real problems and identify the inherent potentials of this ultra-dynamic city.
This RIBA exhibition offers a comprehensive review of the responsive architectural practice of Atelier Deshaus in Shanghai. It provides a unique snapshot of 'urbanity' that will for the first time in Britain present and reflect upon Atelier Deshaus’s built projects in terms of specific types of urbanism and pathways of practice. These types and pathways intend to bring forth the uncertain conditions facing Chinese architectural practice in general, as well as showing how architects – by responding to changing urban realities – may formulate their creative theoretical frameworks and design languages.”

Honestly I think a lot of people who have never made a gif for tumblr don't get that it does actually take time and effort, its not just rip it from a video and post it- you have to download the video, in my case I have a video player installed that grabs continuous caps, figure out what parts you need, you have to open those in photoshop or gimp, depending on where you got photoshop you might be paying for it every month and then on top of that is actually sizing, cropping, colouring, sharpening, adding text, etc. etc. like it is something that takes time and effort for which the only real reward is creating something that makes you happy and hopefully people reblog it with a nice or funny tag, so maybe keep that in mind the next time you think gif makers are being mean or unfair for being upset about reposts. It is its own little artform that is fairly unique to this website, and that's a big aspect of why I have always loved tumblr, if all the gifmakers stopped posting things would be a lot more boring around here.

Love that Star Trek accurately portrays humans in the future as being DTF practically anything. Works wonders for diplomacy.
"Sure I don't find you attractive, but give me ten minutes, your Excellency, and I'll find someone on this ship who's into tentacles and slime."
We may not be super intelligent or super strong, but give humans a chance. We're annoyingly likeable, tenacious, stubborn, and attracted to the weirdest things.

We always spoke the same language. We were cut from the same cloth. She was at once part of me and the person I wanted to be. That's having a sister, I guess.
