Warnings: buried alive, torture, rescue attempt, captivity
Caretaker froze as they saw the freshly dug grave, their heart sinking as they realized they were too late. They couldn’t be too late. Whumpee needed them. “I’m here, Whumpee!” They called as they threw themself on the grave and began to frantically dig.
“I’m here. Whumpee! Whumpee!” Caretaker continued to dig frantically. Whumpee had to be alive. Had to be in here. They couldn’t have been to late.
“I’m here. I’ve got you. Hold on!” Caretaker shouted as their fingers scraped along a rough, wooden coffin. “Just hold on, Whumpee. Hold on!”
Caretaker looked around for a way to pry open the coffin, eyes landing on the pick axe that Whumper had used to break up the soil before lowering Whumpee and coffin into the shallow grave. “Just a few moments. Help is here, Whumpee. I’m here.”
Caretaker gave a sob as the coffin lid swung off revealing an empty grave. “No. No. Nonononononono!” Caretaker repeated as they sank to their knees.
On the pillow where Whumpee’s head should have been was a piece of paper. Whumper’s neat script read, “A preview of what is to come, Caretaker. My gift to you since you will be needing one for Whumpee once I’m through with them. Come find us.”

boxes in the ground.
For @wincestwednesdays Day 4 prompt: buried
CODA for 4x09 I Know What You Did Last Summer
---
Sick with grief, Sam buried the box. Round and round the demon said, and Sam knew, he knew, but he couldn’t help it. Dean would never forgive him, but what was he supposed to do? Sam couldn’t live like this. He knew Dean would turn around and switch with him again, if any demon let him. They would keep playing this sick game of tug-of-war until the end of time or until one of them could make his death stick. Could make the other have to live with it. Live without his brother.
The demon was smug and self-righteous, giddy to throw it in his face. They had Dean right where they wanted him, he said. Sam had him, knife in the demon’s hand and still he wouldn’t budge. If he could just find the right words, the right incentive… maybe, but neither his soul nor the demon’s imminent death were enough. Sam felt white-hot rage coursing through his veins.
"You know Sam,” the demon started, relaxing his voice to an almost soothing tone. “I can't bring him back. But if your soul’s still on the table, I could offer you something almost as good.” The demon reached up to brush some of Sam’s oily hair out of his face with his free hand. Sam smacked him away. The demon continued, “I could give you a Dean. A version of him. I could raise that tight, little flesh prison. Unbury him for you. Clean him up. What do you say?”
“Go to hell,” Sam said, stomach turning.
“You know, I never tire of being told that. But Sam, I can sweeten the deal. Now, he wouldn't be exactly himself, you understand. The soulless never are. You'd have his face to look at and his body to do whatever you wanted with.” He smirked, slowly looking Sam up and down, knowing. “He wouldn’t have so many… moral qualms… in that state. But I could see how that wouldn’t be enough for you and you are worth a little effort. For your juicy soul, Sam, I'd throw in an obedient demon to ride around in him, act like him. He could pretend to have those melodramatic, little feelings, act like he’s being honorable by preserving you, if that’s what you need to get your rocks off. You could have your very own Dean doll, walking and talking just like him. Listening to his bad music in that ugly car, driving you around wherever you wanted to go, doing whatever you wanted him to do. So is it a deal?"
“You’re fucking sick,” Sam growled at him. Sam tensed to pull out the knife and the demon held up his hand.
He tilted his head to the side and went on, “Oh, but you Winchesters are so prejudiced against possession, aren’t you? Maybe I could whip something else up. A spell. Combine that meat suit with a little personality spell. How hard could it be to make him like red meat and tits, eh? I could even throw in a love spell, make him nice and pliant for you. And I’d give you, oh I don’t know, how about a year? A whole year like that before you’re joining your real big bro in hell. If you really want him, Sammy, you could have him.”
“GO TO HELL,” Sam shouted, puncturing each word with a puncture of the knife. The demon was gone on the first cut, but Sam kept going, sinking to the ground with the body. Feeling somewhat remorseful for the vaguely attractive human who never stood a chance with the demon inside of him, Sam sliced his flesh, bathing himself in blood, feeling nothing but rage.
Killing the demon didn’t make him feel better. But the blood felt hot and almost as soothing as a shower on his itching skin. When he was finished he leaned away from the body and wretched. Not from the gore, but from the shame. I never ended. This pain ate at him so much, he was almost tempted by the demon’s offer. He was in such agony and he could almost have fallen into the delusion. Could have lived one more year with a walking corpse just to hear his voice, just to feel his uniquely tender touch. But it wouldn’t be Dean and he would know it. He would give anything for one more year with Dean. The real Dean. He wanted all of him or death, any death, even the worst of hells. He would trade this hell on earth for real hell, just to know Dean was out there somewhere, alive. He would stop at nothing. And he’d endure this sickness until he could make it happen.

Prompt 197
“Guys look, I got us pet rocks!”
“That’s nice- Danny, why are the rocks moving?”
“Ectoplasm. Obviously. They eat bad emotions, isn’t that cool?!”
“They aren’t going to get that big though, right? I mean, we’re moving to the countryside but still.”
“I mean, they shouldn’t? Dang, maybe I should have asked Dora more questions…”

and unofficially wife-d up with paper rings (congratulations!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vash holding Wolfwood's hands, realising that it's not as calloused, no, in fact, it's soft. Unharmed. Safe. And he's holding it. Both of his hands are holding it. And those hands are exchanging something as fragile as a paper ring, far off from what they're usually accustomed of holding in the past...
(He's holding Wolfwood's hand, he thinks again. It's soft. He wonders if he deserves to hold them.)
Except it's no longer the past, Vash knows that, and now they're here, the flimsy rings weighing heavy with the promise of tomorrows he could never hope or dream of having before. It's so comical to the point of bringing tears to his eyes.
If anyone had seen him crying that day he's blaming it on the damned ring.
(a.k.a. the college/reincarnation au, "we deserve a soft epilogue" ending I desperately need)

IDK how to describe it but you can literally feel the difference between gay characters being killed off due to the creator being homophobic (implicitly or explicitly) versus gay characters being killed off bc the creator is gay but loves rubbing their angsty little hands together while their audience cries.

Danny had been cursed when traveling the infinite realms he was exploring a world where the year was 1528, he had been exploring when a person uses magic to try to bind Danny to himself instead he bonded Danny to the land killing the magic user in the process. Danny became stuck in this new dimension unable to leave, he had no one to look and find him. Over the years many have tried to bond Danny to themselves but ended with their death, and Danny with more chains and being cursed
In the year 1695 people started to settle down in the land that Danny was bound to. Over the years the place became known as Gotham Danny protect everyone he could but he has grown weak because of the chains that hold him down. When Batman appeared and started helping protect Danny's people Danny decided to bless him with protection and each Robin Batman had would be protected
In 2260 another magic user appeared and tried to take control of Danny this time they were able to take control of him, but Danny made sure that the magic user and he could not leave Gotham. Batman had to let The Justices League into his city with a couple of the Justice League Dark. John was the one to tell the bats that the magic user had been able to enslave the Gotham spirit.

Part 2 for y’all. :3
Danny didn’t know how long he had been in there for. His breathing has become slow and shallow. The last he counted was eight breaths per minute. Lower than his usual resting rate but not too alarming. Now though, he was down to four breaths. His heartbeat had always been much slower than a regular living person at fifty-five beats per minute. It was now hitting at thirty-seven. Worryingly low, even for him.
He groggily cracked his eyes open and was greeted by the same sight he had been staring at for who knows how long now. Silver metal with green cybertronic designs inlaid. A small viewing window directly above him. It was closed though, and could only be opened from the outside. He stared at his reflection in the plexiglass and metal. His face no longer held any kind of muscle or fat. His cheeks had hollowed and eyes had sunken to a damn near skeletal level. When he wriggled his hand up to cautiously touch his face, it was in the same state. Fingers gaunt and skeletal. He could see every single bone in his hand as well as his wrist.
Betrayal panged through his chest at the thought of how he came to be in this situation. His heart had stopped while Danny had been napping on the couch. It wasn’t an uncommon occurrence but this time his mom had found him. She had silently freaked out before being his dad in. Together they came to the conclusion that Danny had died. A very logical conclusion for any other normal person. But Danny was anything but normal. The next time he awoke was to his parents shutting the lid on what had seemed to be a coffin. Danny had yelled and shouted until his voice broke and his throat felt raw. He flailed about in his tiny prison, trying to find a way, any way, of getting out. He was rewarded with multiple shocks every time he even so much as brushed the metal sides. When Danny had tried to go ghost he was shocked so badly that he passed out from the pain.
The next time he awoke was to the thudding sounds of something being thrown onto the lid. Panic had welled up in his mind. Gripping his throat and constricting his chest. He was being buried alive. His parents were BURYING HIM ALIVE. Danny cried and screamed again. Begging them to not do this. To let him out. Telling them that he was still alive, that he was still their son and not a ghost.
They didn’t stop. Instead, Danny was left there. Panting and heaving through the worst panic attack he had ever experienced. He was stuck and there was no getting out.
Danny sighed. He knew that he didn’t have much time left. His energy had nearly completely depleted. He was so weak that he couldn’t physically fight his way out. So with the last bit of strength that he could muster, he sent out an emotional distress signal. He didn’t expect a response. One had never come before. So he closed his eyes again, submitting to his fate.
And then it came.
A tiny whisper, but a response all the same. Danny’s eyes snapped open, renewed vigor forcing him to press his hands against the lid of the coffin he had been buried in. The shocks rocking through his incredibly weak body but it didn’t stop him. Instead he sent out another emotional beacon.
Help, help, buried, not dead, alive, alive, ALIVE.
The answering reply;
Alive, help, coming, safe?
No, no, hurt, alive, hurt.
Danny cried for the first time in what felt like eons. Green streaked tears flooding from his eyes to fall down through his hair and to the pitifully thin pillow below his head. This other presence caressed his mind with projections of safety and help. And he continued to cry out for help. The emotional and mental anguish finally breaking through and breaking him down. He could feel himself slipping. His consciousness fading into black. But just before he slipped entirely into the welcoming blackness that was trying to overcome him, the viewing window slid open.
On the other side was a man with mostly black hair save a lock of pure white that was stuck to his forehead by the sweat pouring off of him. His blue eyes kept flickering to a shade of ectoplasm green before returning back to blue. He wore a white tank top that was now grass stained and streaked with dirt. His hands and arms covered in a thick layer of mud. Had he dug through the dirt by hand? Why?
While Danny had been lost in thought, a sound he had never thought he would hear again rang in his ears. The coffin lid hissed as the hydraulic hinges lifted it. And Danny took his first breath of fresh, non-recycled air in heaven knows how long. The sobs that rended themselves from his throat were those that told of a broken and afraid teen. One that had been abandoned by his parents, possibly even his sister and best friends. Someone that had been alone for so long that even sitting in a stranger’s embrace in the muddy rain was euphoric.
Danny didn’t know when the man had picked him up and held him closely. But it was definitely not unwelcome. If anything, Danny tried to press further into the stranger’s chest. Further away from the damned coffin that had been his prison for so long. The darkness of unconsciousness was beckoning again. Even sweeter this time in the wake of his rescue.
So he closed his eyes and Danny fell asleep to the deep cadence of the man’s voice telling him he was safe.

Phoenix au
Danny, Dani, Vlad, and Jason aren't actually halfas. They're phoenixes.
The reason they didn't realize it is because ghosts don't know much about other species. The fact that Phoenixes have a tendency to burn their surroundings (even ectoplasm) after they die means they almost never become ghosts. Especially since if they did have any severe regrets or attachments left in life, they normally come back to life after a few seconds to a few years.
None of them realized until they ran into Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman.

Drawing of another adopt I got a while back!
This character is Weeping Willow and she’s an adopt I got from WHOKILLEDKAIEXE (nsfw 🔞) a while back. I wish I could’ve added more darker pencil detail in this but I’m happy with what I made in my time frame.

8 months.
8 months from the time Leader did not return from a solo mission.
8 months since Leader's tracker went dead.
8 months passed as they looked for him.
8 months until his signal appeared on their radar again, beeping bright red.
Heavy rain pelts on their backs as they scoure the forest in search of their missing brother.
"Leader!" "Keep looking, he's somewhere here!"
Teammate came to the horrifying conclusion when he realized that they were standing on top of where Leader should be. No. Oh hell no.
Leader's bright red signal started to beep more alarmingly as they dug into the soil. Within 15 minutes, Leader's tracker went black. They dug faster. It took another 10 minutes before they found a wooden box, a coffin.
Another 3 for them to break it open.
The team burns 30 seconds to pull out a body, cold and light from the box. A body that was once built strong and sturdy, now thin and covered in dried blood.
Medic pulled Leader onto flat ground, immediately attempting CPR. Ribs crack audibly as the team shield them all from the pouring rain under layered rain jackets.
2 minutes.
4 minutes.
The oldest sees no progress, her hand reaching to stop Medic.
5 minutes.
The dead body on the ground comes back to life, coughing violently as he eventually turns over and retches out dirt and blood.

seasons + stars
supercorptober 2023
“Sometimes when I look at you, I feel I'm gazing at a distant star." ― Haruki Murakami
or Kara deals with the impermanence of herself and the permanence of her love
----
Kara comes to Earth in the Spring.
On the backs of stars she will never see again she carries their dust with her, lays it down in soil tasked with bearing witness to ghosts that are not its own.
The stars that are a part of her become a part of it.
She spends days in the forest, the bright blue sky above her, Sol at her back, Rao in her chest, through the vibrant green trees, across flowers that bloom in hues of yellows and oranges.
She lays out at night on the roof, tries to trace the inky black as far into the distance as she can. Far enough she might still see a light that hasn't been replaced by darkness yet.
The stars will soon become a part of her — she will eventually become a part of them too.
Summer comes with long days and short nights and she misses the stars.
Autumn rushes in with skies that almost feel familiar.
Winter nights are long and cold. She stays out late with the stars again. Speaks to the scattered bits of light — the scattered bits of herself.
Year after year, she is dismantled and reassembled by the seasons that come and go. Until all the bits of stardust she had carried with her from Krypton are all gone. Until she is made of new stars and new dust and new atoms. And what is gone? What is gone is put back into the space to begin again somewhere else.
But then what of her?
Is Kara Zor El somewhere in space?
Is she buried in the soil on Earth?
Is she shoved inside the chest of this other her?
Will she always be two versions different of herself at once?
Kara leaves Earth in the Spring.
Sol at her back, and nothing but darkness ahead.
She doesn't choose to leave, but she is gone all the same.
She meets ghosts she thought were all gone. Buried somewhere between Krypton and Earth — lost with the parts of herself that she too had been buried.
Her own ghost is there.
Haunts her with the parts of herself she wants to hold onto but can't.
Taunts her with the parts of herself she begs to replace but can't.
Kara comes back to Earth in the Summer.
"August of another summer, and once again I am drinking the sun"
She isn't sure what she is made of now.
Isn't sure how long it will take to shed it from her skin.
Isn't sure who she will be when it's gone.
She is just tired, she thinks, of this struggle of atoms, of time, of feeling broken apart.
But she looks up at the sky that night. Find stars again instead of darkness.
Thinks of how they are each a part of Earth, or Krypton, of her.
She is tired, she thinks, but she is also thankful.
It's Autumn when the world almost ends.
The world almost ends, and she realizes she wants more time — needs more time.
It's Autumn when it starts again.
Not in the way one thinks of worlds beginning — in the way of galaxies and of universes — big bangs expanding all at once.
But in the way we do. Slowly. Little by Little.
It begins again with green eyes and dark hair.
It settles into gentle touches and quiet words.
Kara stands at the edge of a field, her feet sinking slightly into the damp forest floor. Leaves scatter across the ground with with freshly fallen pine needles. It smells like cold, like the winter that is coming.
Lena's hand slips into hers, fingers threading together with practiced ease.
Slow.
Gentle.
She feels a droplet of water cling to her skin, just cold enough that she can feel it, can tell it a part from the warmth of Lena's hand in hers.
"I can't believe it's so dark already?"
Kara follows her gaze up to the first stars just peeking through the gaps in the trees.
Meeting Lena first came at the end of a Summer.
Meeting Lena came, and the world softened just a little — just enough.
Slowly.
Little by little.
In all the months between, all the years, all the seasons. They have both been taken apart and put back together, over and over and over.
Sometimes by the universe.
Sometimes by each other.
But amidst the endless dance of stars and the perpetual renewal of atoms, the part of them that loved the other, had always been left whole, over and over and over.
And there are still days where she is not sure who she is — who she is supposed to be with this patchwork collection of particles stuffed into herself.
But then Lena will take her hand and thread their fingers together just like this, and it will feel like each one of them has found it's place and a purpose all over again.

Perfect Body to the Grave
Warnings: captivity, buried alive, suffocation, cpr, unclear character status
Team Leader stumbled in the mud as they frantically searched for the stone that Whumper said would mark where they buried Teammate One just over an hour ago. The rain came down cold and hard on their back as they tried to look for the stone.
"They were alive when I put them there, Team Leader. Would be a shame if you got there and they weren't," Whumper had said as Teammate Two dragged them to a cell.
Team Leader had wasted no time hurrying to where they hoped to find Teammate One. They hadn't accounted for the storm creating so much mud it would be hard to see a stone. They sunk to their knees as they realized that they wouldn't find the stone in all this mud. Their knee collided with something hard and flat and it had their teeth zinging.
The stone.
"Over here!" They called to Teammate Two and Teammate Three as they started to clear the mud. It would take the whole team to clear all the mud from the top of the casket.
"Hurry, they can't have much air left," Teammate Two said as they started to shovel with a frenzy.
"We'll make it," Teammate Three muttered. "We have to make it."
Team Leader agreed. They had to make it. They couldn't not make it. Teammate One was counting on them. The three team members were sweating by the time they had cleared the mud enough that the top of the casket was cleared.
"We're here, Teammate One, we're here," Team Leader muttered as they swung open the lid of the casket.
"No!" Teammate Two's cry came from somewhere on Team Leader's right.
Teammate One lay on their back, eyes closed, their mouth slightly agape. Their face was pale and their lips tinged blue. "Not like this, Teammate One, not like this," Team Leader muttered as they leaned over and to listen to see if Teammate One took a breath.
"They're not breathing!" Teammate Three whispered as Team Leader moved once more.
"Not like this," Team Leader muttered as they pressed their fingers to the pulse in Teammate One's neck. But no beat came.
Without missing a beat, Team Leader began chest compressions. "Come on, Teammate One, come on. Come back to us. Take a breath. Open your eyes. We're here. We've got you."
Teammate Two leaned down and gave two quick rescue breaths. "Please, Teammate One," they begged, "come back to us."
Teammate Three took Teammate One's cold hand in theirs, fingers going to the stilled pulse in Teammate One's wrist. They didn't say anything as tears streamed down their face.
Team Leader couldn't stop. Couldn't bear to think that this was it. That the team had failed Teammate One. That Whumper had won. That Teammate One was....but they couldn't think it. They continued to pump Teammate One's chest with everything they had. "Breathe, Teammate One. Come on. Breathe!"
