Hymn to Sekhmet
by Joey Rivers (ascendingaeons)
Tumblr media
O Sekhmet, Great Eye of Ra, the First and the Last Healer and Destroyer, Mother and Daughter You Who accepted the Command of Ra, Your Father To cleanse the Two Lands of Isfet But Your nature was too mighty, Great of Strength as You Are Wanton and unrestrained, You ravaged Earth as a purifying flame And as Ra looked on and saw His Eye, He was stricken with pause By the Will of the Sun, Your Rage was quieted by a crimson brew And into transformative slumber You fell, Great Goddess And from Your great Rage, Het-Heru rose A new Eye was christened, of eros sublime And you, Great Mother, knew the sadness of regret
You, Great Goddess, know the measure of rage unbound And so You Stand, Great Mother of War, in defense and duty Of the Principles and Consequences of Ma’at Your Children are many, Great Lady of Life Diverse in their multitudes, empowered by their tribulation
Yours is the soldier, Your Mighty Sekhem made flesh and bone Entrenched in a maelstrom of fire and blood Returning home to a nation that does not understand him
Yours is the survivor, a living branch of Your burning Will triumphant Endeavoring to rise above the quagmire of loss and agony Through You their struggle is transmuted into the golden light of ka ascendant
Yours is the mother, she who knows sacrifice and sleepless nights A font unyielding of love and pride, of smiles and laughter perfected They who bear the weight of the world so a child can know childhood
Yours is the healer, an alchemist of the ontological persuasion He who is humbled by the frailty beholden to human experience He who ushers Your Sekhem through the riptide of transformative loss
Yours is the artist, through whose passions course Your Divine Fire Who walks the scales of inspiration and madness, knowing Creation unfiltered An alchemist versed in the milieus of perception
For You, Great Goddess, are the very Force of Change You are that which makes men tremble so Such an unnecessary fear, of wisdom and experience untouched Were I You, I would feel such sadness But how You smile, Great One! How You laugh! How You fight! You are not “she who cowers before Apep!” NO! You are the Great Lioness Who rends Chaos asunder! You fight and rage and bite and tear Passion and emotion alive and unrestrained!
You are Love, Great Goddess You are Fear, Great Goddess You are Devotion, Great Goddess You are Loss, Great Goddess You are Health, Great Goddess You are Sickness, Great Goddess This is why I call You the Mother of Life Your Ka is the very essence of experience! Your Sekhem is the very wind of change!
When I first called upon You, timid and unsure, I beheld Your Gaze, a window of fire open before my face And as quickly as You Saw me, You left And again when I called to You with offering of water and bread Exhausted by grief and devotion, tirelessly sung from a caregiver’s heart You came to me and my eyes were opened to You! As I lay without sleep, You stood at my bedside Stroking my back with strong hands of fire Whispering strength and courage into my ear As a sentinel You walked with me, a Mother Lioness guarding Her cub Such loyalty and tenderness You showed And my eyes were forever opened to Your nature
You are the very Force of Creation, the Monad of Being From which stems those primordial principalities Love and Fear, Physis and Logos, Known and Unknown Order and Disorder, Life and Death, Dynamism and Stasis
I offer henu to You, Great Goddess of Creation The endless potentiality and movement of the living cosmos The Fires Divine that Become living sinews and living earth
I offer henu to Your Husband Ptah, the Cosmic Smith Patron of artisans, of those who tirelessly toil In the pursuit of Bringing Into Being but a shard of the Sacred Unmanifest
I offer henu to Your Son, the Beautiful Nefertem The Ageless Lotus that rose from the Benben Stone The First Splendid Light to Shine in the churning Waters of Nun
It was You Who held my right hand as I accepted the mark of a healer And embraced me as a Mother would Her graduating son I offer You my pain, Great Goddess So that You may transmute it into Strength I offer You my fear, Great Goddess So that You may transmute it into Courage I offer You my uncertainty, Great Goddess So that You may transmute it into Wisdom
Into Your Belly I give of myself to unleash my greatest potential To burst from Your Bosom, shining and emboldened For there is nothing that is beyond Your Reach, Great Mother It is for me, now, to See that nothing is beyond my own
Dua Sekhmet! Dua Sekhmet! Dua Sekhmet!

THE ASTROLOGICAL BEAUTY OF… ZENDAYA
Tumblr media
AQUARIUS RISING CONJ. 12H URANUS
I've noticed with Aquarius rising they have a kinda square or angled face similar to Capricorn risings. With Aquariuses having a more rounded out head/forehead. A very prominent feature for Aquarius risings is the nose. No matter what shape it's probably the focal point of the face and I've seen most Aquarius risings with either wide/long bridges or wide/big nostrils. Sometimes Aquarius risings/Uranus have a face that seems unreal. It's like pressing the randomize button when making an avatar or sims but for them, and Zendaya it works. Z is also very slender and tall. Aquarius rules over calves and typically Aquarius risings tend to be very slender and/or lean. (but of course genetics matter too) And for Aquarius risings I find that a certain unique feature stands out more than others and for Z I think it might be her small forehead, of course mentioned before her nose and her small dimple chin.
Tumblr media
ASC - MOON
Smooth, soft and dewy looking skin. Full cheeks, and overall soft look. Especially when she rocks a bare face. I find that asc - moon people also have really dreamy eyes. since its squared and moon rules over the boobs it explains her small bosom (no shade tho, we love a itty bitty titty committee queen)
Tumblr media
ASC- MERCURY
Very youthful appearance and typically these people just look smart or wise to others. With Z it might be her eyes that give that vibe to others.
Tumblr media
ASC - SATURN
Will probably look even better with age. Facial structure is very prominent. She has a very symmetrical face.
Tumblr media
VENUS CONJ. MARS 6H CANCER
Since her Venus is in caner it furthers the effect of her smooth and dewy looks she naturally has. It also shows how natural and earthy her beauty is since its in the 6H. Venus conj. mars gives her a natural seductiveness and magnetism that never feels over powering or forced.
Tumblr media
BELLA CONJ. NN LIBRA
Prominent Bella in peoples chart can give a very natural beauty as well. with hers being in a Venus ruled sign further encases this. and it being conj. her NN means that she was meant to be blessed with beauty in this life time. it also shows how she was meant to incorporate beauty a lot in this life time
Tumblr media
PTAH CONJ. SUN 7H
Ptah can be known as the asteroid that a lot of supermodels have prominent because it can show striking and powerful beauty. So no surprise Zendaya has it conj. her sun and she's known worldwide for being a powerhouse beauty/fashion wise. its even a joke on twitter that models are lucky that Zendaya chose to act more and to have modeling as a side job.
Tumblr media
And that was the Astrological Beauty of Zendaya

Ptah, Primordial God of Architecture, is one of the precious allies of Ra, to whom he proved his utmost loyalty by marrying one of his daughters: the rebellious Sekhmet. Despite being total opposites, the marriage with the aggressive lioness goddess worked pretty well, and soon they gave birth to a son, Nefertem, with whom they formed the inspiring and powerful triad of Memphis. He is also the master and adoptive father of Imhotep, the builder of the first pyramid.

So we moved at the start of the month, which means it's time to establish a new shrine.
It's bare bones right now, and that's okay. They would rather me work with what I have than perfection. No words spoken beyond the simple incense and flame prayer. None needed. Instead I feel Their love washing over me, a forceful hug from my divine Fathers.
I love Them, and They love me.

The water is full of vegetation - Ptah is the reeds. Sakhmet the lotus shoots. The goddess of dew is the lotus buds, and Nefertem the blossoms.

Currently reading Andrew Gordon and Calvin Schwab's "The Quick and the Dead: Biomedical Theory in Ancient Egypt" and though I was familiarized with the fact that Djed Pillar and Ankh could have their iconographical origins in bulls' last three lumbar and sacrum vertebrae in dorsal perspective and thoracic vertebra in cephalic perspective respectively, I wasn't ready for the Was sceptre being (or, at least, having it's predecesor in) a dried bull penis, which definitely makes sense due the connotations of power and dominion of both the Was sceptre and wild bulls.
Like, fuck

I think, by the way, this also helps understand and highlight better not only certain iconographical aspects of Set (and from other Gods as well, but concerning different aspects, I'd say) in relation to bulls and their anatomy, but some theological ones as well.

Asteroid ptah (5011)

ptah, the creator (asteroid 5011)
mini reminder please do not put photos in asks!! please see my ask boundaries post from august last year.
Tumblr media
Ptah is the creator god, the divine smith of Egyptian myth. His origin is rather unknown similar to Aztec myth; there appears to have been a battle of who would be the sun - initially it seems that Ptah was the sun and moon god, or perhaps the ruler of just one of those luminaries. Nevertheless, in myth he was thought to have crafted the universe, gods (from metal ore and precious stones), men (from clay - like Prometheus), justice, and other things that made life and living possible. He did all this with his mind - he thought of it how the concept would work and it was thus created. While he is assisted in life and living, Ptah also assisted in the afterlife. He would often cut the gauze from the mummification process open across the mouth so that the dead could use their sense of smell and taste once more in death. IN MY OPINION Ptah in your chart can represent a) your ability to create, b) where you bring ideas into reality, c) where you rule over the an empire (often more so for those that are self-made), and d) where you make life more palatable for those around you.

i encourage you to look into the aspects of ptah along with the sign, degree, and house placement. for the more advanced astrologers, take a look at the persona chart of ptah!

One of the many ways the Egyptians honored their gods was by crafting sculptures of them. This tiny 2-inch-tall lapis lazuli example shows size didn’t always matter.

Ptah-Naunet
In the US, trans people are being cruelly used as a highly visible internal enemy by people who can only be described as fascists. This is, of course, affecting Australia too. I don't know what to do about it. One thing I can do is to try and discredit the lie that gender diverse* people are a recent Western invention. I will come back to this; in the meantime you can read about it at my Dreamwidth.
Right now, though, I wanted to mention an Egyptian deity, Ptah-Naunet. It was very rare for the Ancient Egyptians to combine a male god, Ptah, and a female god, Naunet (the female counterpart of Nun, the primordial ocean), in this way. Ptah-Naunet appears in the Memphite Theology, a document which explains that Ptah is the real creator deity. Even the great god Amun is the child of Ptah-Nun and Ptah-Naunet. I guess by combining these gods in this way, Ptah, a male god, becomes capable of giving birth.
Ptah-Naunet has been stuck in my head ever since I thought of writing something about gender variance. Maybe he-she is just a male god with a female capability stuck on; maybe the whole thing is just propaganda. But possibly, by combining two primal, powerful gods of creation, there is a symbol here for the relentlessly susprising, creative nature of human gender and sexuality, which is no modern invention but dates from the beginning of time.
(I have never been more disappointed not to be an artist. I imagine Ptah-Naunet as a figure combining aspects of both gods; but if the Egyptians had wanted to represent him-her they wouldn't have felt limited by Ptah or Naunet and would have drawn or sculpted whatever they felt best represented the deity.)
*By "gender diverse" I mean trans, non-binary, gender non-confirming -- everyone who doesn't fit into the neat pink and blue boxes and is therefore under attack. If you're not sure if I'm including you, I am. ("Gender diverse" gets used a lot in Australia. If it's inappropriate I know people will let me know. ty for the heads-up on "gender variant" @apatosaurus)
