About to watch Nimona but oof these designs are so different and disney-esque, it’ll take a while to get used to them haha

#you know how symbolic association can be taught like #purple is a royal color not because there’s something inherently about the color but that’s how it’s been symbolically used #this kinda of art style - with these round eyes with thisck eyelashes at the edges #has been so often used for sweet feel good stories that misrepresent their source material #that in my mind it already sets up a certain expectation about the nature of this adaptation #I’ll try to keep an open mind watching it though!!!

things from The Halloween Update that are concerning me more than i already am about Eddie:

his Frankenstein's Monster costume turning his face (and hands. ha, hands, like the hands on a-) half yellow half blue/purple like the clocks & Sally's door. that's fucking me up a little ngl

Eddie tacks "A bit of a moral conundrum-" onto his description of Frankenstein's Monster, who he's costumed as. which seems out of place with the rest of his description. he could've said "bolts" or "white streak in his hair" or another physical trait. nope. Moral Conundrum (one could also describe his costume as "two-faced"...). and the fact that he's dressed specifically as someone who was "brought back from the dead" makes me 👁️👁️. kinda reminds me of a certain set of artworks from Clown's tumblr a while back...

Eddie, despite his whole schtick being "bad memory", was the only one to accurately recognize Sally's costume as pedrolino from the Commedia dell'arte. could be a little 'inside joke', might be something else. i suspect it's something else due to his... ah... Everything.

However she heard that a brave person was the one to save her from the clutches of a monster. Holding a special place in her heart after hearing such a feat. However this wouldn't be the end of a journey no, a horroring tale of fate lie amongst the flowers she so adored. A petal falling into place.

The door that led to the room she was being held in within the Butterfly Mansion, causing a shudder to form. Looking over to the sound, since she was blind, she had no clue as to who this might be. Bright blue eyes, and albino. White eyelashes and all. A small frame, and a warm smile that could cure the heavens of any sickness.
