SHRIEKING can be heard originating from the master bedroom of your one-story house, and such a sudden noise prompted your fiance to stop everything he was doing in the kitchen to make his way to the bedroom. His silky, raven bangs hung over his face which began protruding sweat from the little sprint he took to reach the bedroom. Eyes were wide when they landed on your figure who was sitting on the queen-sized bed with your laptop resting in your lap. With the heavy footsteps reaching the door, you looked up and raised your brows at the sight of your significant other standing at the doorway whilst panting heavily.
“Oh, hi, Itachi,” you said. Looking back down at your laptop, another squeal left your mouth along with a relieving sigh coming from Itachi who leaned forward to rest his hands on his thighs. Once he recomposed himself, Itachi walked up to the bed and sat down next to you, furrowing his brows at the sight of a random man on your laptop. “Why are you causing a ruckus this early in the morning?” Itachi asked, glancing at your face for a response.
“Lookie! Robert Pattinson is going to play in the new Batman movie! I can’t believe he is going to be Batman. Oh my gosh, can you imagine how wicked this will be?!” you exclaimed, pointing at the screen. Itachi brushed back some of the strands of your hair that fell in front of your face before looking back at the screen, “Who is this random guy, and why am I looking at him instead of cooking breakfast?”
You widened your eyes and snapped your head to the side to look at Itachi, finding him practically glaring at the celebrity on your screen with his charcoal eyes. The nerve of Itachi to not know about your one and only childhood crush on the man displayed on your screen. How dare he not acknowledge your one true love that came before him and played as a vampire on the screen to satisfy your Twilight craze of that time?
“This is my childhood crush, Robert Pattinson. You mean to tell me that you don’t know anything about this beauty right here?” you questioned, continuously and roughly pointing at the screen. Itachi looked taken back when he heard the words childhood crush leave your lips, prompting him to look into your eyes. “Isn’t this guy super famous or something? How do you have a crush on someone you have never met?” Itachi asked, brows knitted with confusion.
“Well it’s not a normal crush, it’s just someone that I love and support for as long as I wish to do, and in my case, I have been following his acting career since 2008,” you explained to your confused fiance, “I should get tickets as soon as possible, do you want to go watch the movie with me?” You started typing away on your laptop finding out where and when you could watch the movie. Itachi dug his chin into your shoulder and rested his head against the side of your face, watching you type away effortlessly. “If it’s about violence, I would rather not watch it,” Itachi mumbled, letting his eyes drift shut.
Violence was never something that Itachi could handle mostly because the screams and blood rising from some of the scenes displayed on TV screens were unsettling for his head and his stomach. In fact, you almost always watch your horror movies with him completely out of the house otherwise you would have to stay up all night to stop the tremors Itachi gets during his sleep. But from the trailers you were seeing of the movie, it didn’t seem too bad for him to watch. However, you didn’t know the extent Itachi could handle.
“Okay, I’ll go with Sasuke, then, if it’s okay with you. Besides, I need more time to bond with my future brother-in-law,” you cooed, patting his head to your hand and glancing down at him. A soft smile came to his lips when he heard you mention Sasuke, knowing you wish to have a cherishable relationship with him. “Go for it. Now, I’m going to go back to making breakfast, any requests?” Itachi spoke calmly, letting out a light yawn.
“Ooh, can you make me pancakes, please?” you asked with your cute, wide eyes that he could never say no to. Itachi chuckled and pressed a kiss to your cheek, nodding afterwards. He took one last look at the screen before standing up and walking away.
— — —
Months after having that conversation with Itachi, you had already rewatched the new movie two times, the first time with Sasuke and the second time all by yourself. After your second watch, you went all over YouTube finding any sort of video that incorporated scenes and edits from the movie of Robert Pattinson. Watching that movie reawakened your obsession with him, and at times, he’s all you’d think about during the day.
It started to come to Itachi’s attention just how obsessed you had gotten when you kept your eyes locked on a screen any chance you got. The amount of TikTok audios he heard playing overnight was way more than before you had watched the movie. Itachi’s love language is mostly quality time with you, and ever since you watched the movie, he felt you were drifting away from him, slowly. As much as he didn’t mind anything you loved to do, it hurt him to see you obsess over someone that wasn’t him.
One night, you were sitting on your shared bed watching yet another interview of Robert Pattinson, sipping on your iced coffee with your back resting against the backrest. Oblivious to the sound of soft footsteps, the creaking of the mattress coming from next to you was what alerted you of Itachi’s presence. The Uchiha was dressed in his comfy, cotton pajamas, and his silky, raven hair was in a side ponytail resting over his shoulder. Itachi didn’t let you speak when he immediately wrapped his arms around you and rested his head against your shoulder, a smile running on his face.
“I—Itachi? Shouldn’t you be eating dinner?” you asked curiously, looking down at his sleepy face. Itachi sighed and opened his eyes, making eye contact with Robert Pattinson on the screen. He reached out to close the laptop and set it aside before wrapping his arm back around you. “Dinner would be less quiet with you,” Itachi replied, readjusting his head on your shoulder, “Everything… would be less quiet with you.”
“What is this about?” you questioned with a confused look on your face. Itachi sighed once more and pulled away from you, taking your hand in his and rubbing his thumb over your soft skin. You kept your eyes locked on him, wondering what’s gotten into him.
“Now, I don’t care whether you do this or that because at the end of the day, I love you for you and all of your weirdness, but I think you’ve gotten a little out of hand with this Robert Pattinson guy that I’ve been feeling a little left out recently. Before you tease me for being clingy, I know what I want, and that is to be with you whenever I am at home or anywhere for that matter. Plus, you’ve been wide awake at night, feeding this obsession of yours. You don’t have to completely stop, but I would just love it if you'd take a step back, take care of yourself, and focus on the world around you, Y/N,” Itachi replied, looking up at you to meet your eyes, “Again… I’m not judging you, but he is on that screen, and I am sitting right here wanting to eat dinner with you.”
You had to look away from Itachi’s intense, charcoal eyes to completely take in the words he spoke of. Instinctively, your head rested on Itachi’s shoulder, and you brought your intertwined hands into your view, twisting and turning to memorize it. Soon, a light giggle left your mouth at the realization of how stuck you were on this man that doesn’t even know you exist, and you looked up to meet Itachi’s eyes once more.
“Yeah… I guess I was a little crazy for the last couple of days. But, you should be giving the same speech to Sasuke cause he was only feeding my addiction by sending me Robert Pattinson themed TikToks all day everyday! I partially blame him for this,” you added, pointing at Itachi. Itachi chuckled and leaned in to press a kiss to your head. He leaned over you to turn off the lamp on the bedside table, and he carefully got off the bed, pulling you along with him. “Fine, I will talk to him, too, but for now, let’s go eat my fantastic dinner I spent all afternoon making,” Itachi replied.
You got off the bed and were now standing directly in front of the man you were in love with, the one who wasn’t on the laptop screen playing a vigilante in a movie. A smile came to your lips, and you nodded your head, leaning over to press a kiss to his cheek. You took the lead by dragging him out of the bedroom and to the dining room where you’d share the most excellent dinner together.

Over the past few days the internet has been a buzz with news and rumors surrounding Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
With all signs pointing to actor Robert Pattinson rocking the cape and cowl in The Batman, the attention now turns to the villains of the film.
For months talks have surrounded which villains will come out of Batman’s Rogues Gallery with Matt Reeves himself outing Oswald Cobblepot, the Penguin, as the lead antagonist for his film.  Now multiple sources have leaked that two more villains will join the fight against the Dark Knight.
New news is that Selena Kyle, aka Catwoman, and Edward Nygma, aka The Riddler, will join The Penguin as the other two antagonists to drive Bruce Wayne “batty”.
Since the beginning character and voice actor Josh Gad (Frozen and Beauty and the Beast) has been linked to the role of Penguin in The Batman. No word yet on who might take up the role of Catwoman.
Earlier today, comicbook.com reported that Sebastian Stan, who just came off playing Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier in the MCU, wants to play the role of The Riddler in The Batman.
During a Q&A at the Jus In Bello event in Rome, Stan was asked what role he would love to play next in which Stan replied:
“I would love to try and play The Riddler.  Thats an interesting character.  I don’t know ho you’d play that one actually, that would be very hard to be honest, because you couldn’t be like crazy, crazy, crazy.  You would have to be kind of much darker than that, but that’s an interesting character.”
Catwoman, Penguin and Riddler have seen big screen time before.  Danny Devito put his spin on the Penguin alongside Michelle Pfeiffer, who played a perfect adaptation of Selina Kyle in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns.  Anne Hathaway also played Kyle in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Rises.  Jim Carrey is the last to play Riddler on the screen, taking on the role in Batman Forever directed by Joel Schumacher.

Despite multiple sources disagreeing on just how many villains will be featured in The Batman there is no doubt that Robert Bat-tinson will have his hands full with the three villains reported to be in the film, so far.
Three Villains Named For Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’ Over the past few days the internet has been a buzz with news and rumors surrounding Matt Reeves' The Batman.

a once loyal MCU stan is look forward to DC’s live-action future
Wonder Woman ‘84
Tumblr media
the long anticipated sequel will be in theaters soon! I love seeing female directors working on a female lead superhero film, with a female antagonist - it’s just perfect. I’ll always have comic Diana to keep me company, but nothing compares to seeing her on screen✨
The Suicide Squad
Tumblr media
is it a reboot? a sequel? who knows! the chaos of understanding DC timelines contine, but I love it! I’ve enjoyed every James Gunn film I’ve seen so far (granted not all of them) so I’m confident the movie will do well :) naturally I’m most excited to see the Queen of Quinn herself Miss Harley Quinn played by Margot Robbie. Harley is a great DC character and I adore anything she features in... if I had to make a guess - this film takes place mostly likely after Birds of Prey? I think we can all agree Harley getting arrested and locked up again is fairly easy to imagine... maybe Bats had a hand in it this time again too???✨
Tumblr media
The Batman
Tumblr media
Gotham's in the name... I’ve definitely driven myself crazy thinking about Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. It looks very old Gotham, lots of rise of the villains feels and ooooh Carmine Falcone will feature too! I’m excited to see Penguin becoming Gotham’s king and get the Riddler content I deserve. Zoë Kravitz will be playing Catwoman, what more could I want? To think we’ll be getting a spinoff series too✨
Tumblr media
Black Adam
Tumblr media
I have absolutely no knowledge about this character outside of Injustice: Gods Among Us (if you haven’t played it - I seriously recommended it). Dwayne Johnson will be playing the title character, members of the Justice Society of America will feature too and again I know every little about this team but I’m excited to see it come to life. I promise to study up so I’m not too lost when the film’s released✨
Justice League: The Snyder Cut
Tumblr media
it still blows my mind that we started with a hashtag and now we’re here. I cannot wait for 4 sweet uninterrupted hours of the official Snyder Cut! although I love the Trinity and I can’t wait for the badass action scenes, I’m looking forward to Ezra Miller’s Flash and Ray Fisher’s Cyborg. Especially the Victor Stone flashbacks we’ve been teased. can I get a booyah?✨
Tumblr media
The Flash
Tumblr media
I didn’t always love Barry, but he crept up on me and now I’m Flash obsessed. I haven’t really watched the CW show... sorry guys👉👈 I do however read the comic! personally, Wally is my favourite Flash hopefully we’ll get to meet a live-action movie version in the future✨
Shazam! Fury of the Gods
Tumblr media
the Shazoom call 😂😂😂 SHAZOOM 😂😂😂 not the most informative, but definitely the cutest. most of my Shazam! knowledge comes from from very few animated films the character has featured in over the years, so I’m not a long time fan... that doesn’t mean I wasn’t extactic to find out the film would be getting a sequal!✨
I hope you all enjoyed your DC Fandome experience! stay safe kids and see you on stan twitter💙

The Devil All The Time - review
Tumblr media
I’ve just finished watching this movie by Antonio Campos, adapted from the book by Donald Ray Pollock.
I deliberately didn’t read the book beforehand as many have done, purely because I didn’t want to a) know what happened or b) be constantly comparing it to the book (as that usually is a bit of a let down).
There is so much I could say, but without giving away any spoilers I can tell you this – this is a film that will stay with you for a long time, whether you liked it or not.
This movie is all about internal conflict. Wars play out overseas while in tiny rural America, wars play out in people’s minds – the battle between right and wrong, good and evil, heaven and hell.
That internal conflict comes with the guise of religion. It’s laced throughout, from iconography, cinematography, language, even the music on the radio – and yet I don’t think I saw a single cast member wearing a crucifix necklace. All of them seemingly turning to God, yet all of them using Him as their excuse for the inexcusable.
The main character is Arvin Russell, the most wretched of children. No child should ever have to witness what he did. You can tell as he moves into adulthood that he is walking the fine line between succumbing to his trauma and rising above it. The tension resonates throughout, at times he speaks without really opening his mouth his jaw is so set – which makes the scene at the end all the more poignant.
Tom Holland is a great actor but the world hasn’t really seen it yet – but they will now. That tension I just wrote about is through his whole body. Even though he’s doing bad things (not really a spoiler – everyone does bad things in this film) you can’t help but root for him. Everyone else is doing bad things for sexual thrills or power – or delusions – but Arvin does it because he just needs to be free. To right all the wrongs in his life as far as he can, and release himself from the shackles of grief and abandonment.
The rest of the VERY impressive cast deliver too. When Robert Pattinson enters the stage, there is an initial moment where his Edward Cullen was showing but that was quickly replaced by a villain camp in nature but predatory in action. Sebastian Stan is, frankly, unrecognisable at first, everything about him from his puffed out cheeks to his slovenly gait taking him a million miles from Bucky Barnes.
Arvin’s father, Willard, played by Bill Skarsgard, is a complex character, well played. Consumed by memories from the war, he’s troubled – so much so that buying a candy bar for his son was, as Arvin recalled, the best day he’d had with him.
Riley Keough (Sandy Henderson) and Jason Clarke (Carl Henderson) play, in my opinion, some of the sickest people I’ve ever seen on screen. They are the whole package of depravity and they do it with a cold indifference that makes it chilling every time they’re on screen.
There’s also great performances by Mia Waskiowska and Eliza Scanlon as the meek mother and daughter Helen and Lenora.
It might not be to everyone’s liking but I really liked the narration from Donald Ray Pollock, it almost felt like he was Arvin, speaking as an old man, recounting the tale from a rocking chair.
Overall, as many will have warned, it’s not for the faint of heart. But if you watched it as I did, I wonder if you’ll find yourself with your own internal conflict. Just like the characters, you ask yourself, how far would you go for your family?

Tumblr’s Top Fandoms of 2020
https://ift.tt/37LLRPI
It’s been a weird and often devastating year, and our social media has reflected that. Tumblr has just released its top fandoms of 2020 and it’s fascinating to see how a year of pandemic and quarantine has affected transformative fandom and broader cultural trends. In a year when almost everyone spent a lot more time at home, Animal Crossing: New Horizons was the most blogged about topic on the social media platform, followed by animated dramedy Steven Universe, Belgian SKAM adaptation WtFOCK, K-pop supergroup BTS, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. We talked to Tumblr’s Trend Expert Amanda Brennan about how she interpreted the biggest trends of the year, how this was a big year for animation and international media, and why 2020 was the year everyone stopped worrying about what was cool and just embraced what they love. But, first, some 2020 Tumblr statistics:

And, now, our chat with Brennan. (This Q&A has been edited for clarity and length.)
Den of Geek: I’ve heard you refer to the users as the Tumblr hive-mind or the orchid, whatever it is. I was just hoping you could generally talk about what the Tumblr hive-mind is to you? Which is the way of saying, who uses Tumblr generally? And how and why? If you can even extrapolate those things. Go!
Amanda Brennan: Most of our audiences is Gen Z; it’s at 48%. Our new user registration with Gen Z is even higher; I’m pretty sure it’s 60%. These are people who come to Tumblr because they love something so much they just want to share that love with people who love it as much as they do. I know that feels like a giant umbrella, but that’s the thing: Tumblr is what you make of it. If you love sports, sports Tumblr is intense hockey Tumblr, so good. If you love TV, you’ll have all of that. K-pop Tumblr, totally amazing. Furby Tumblr is off the hook and they make these incredible creations. I’ve recently gotten into Stained Glass Tumblr.
There’s layers upon layers. No matter what you love, there’s something on Tumblr for you. That’s both the easiest thing and the hardest thing about it. You have to go in being like, “Alright, I’m so into this thing, what does Tumblr have for me?” It’s not like the other social media networks, right? It’s really about what you love rather than who you know.
Yeah, I like that. I did want to ask you specifically about the process of how you track trends and how you make decisions about what to track?
We built the whole taxonomy that powers fandom metrics based on what Tumblr talks about. I’m a librarian, as you know, and I kind of reverse engineered it. My first year in review at Tumblr in 2013, they handed me a spreadsheet and they’re like, ‘OK, go to town.” So I was like, “Cool, let me pull out the threads that I see.” We really let the data tell us how to analyze it, if that makes sense. So when it comes to what we track, I have a running notebook that I’ve kept all year of the things that I’ve wanted to have in year in review.
The Witcher has been on my list since it came out. Animal Crossing has been another one. The Old Guard had a huge moment. I was just writing notes, like, “Oh, what is this thing? And we’ll keep an eye on it.” I have an amazing team. We all are into our own pieces of Tumblr. So we’ll all work together to just keep an eye on different fandoms. I don’t know if you know about Minecraft YouTuber fandom?
Yeah. I was actually listening to the latest Fansplaining last night and they mentioned it in that. I was just like, “OK, a new thing.” There’s always a new thing to learn about.
There’s always a new thing. That’s the beauty of Tumblr. It’s so fluid in fandom. You can go from one fandom to another and then you’ll see like, “Ooh, what is this thing?” I’ve got Supernatural on the brain, as who in the fandom doesn’t right now. [This interview was recorded on the day of the Supernatual series finale.] I was telling someone, the whole reason I got into Supernatural was because I saw a gif from the show on Tumblr and I was like, “What is happening? Let me go back and watch this entire series.” That’s the vibe of Tumblr, right? You see a thing and you’re like, “Oh, I need to know everything about that.”

Hmm. Yeah, for sure. I was interested in talking to you or getting your insight into how trends you saw or data you saw that were maybe tied to the very unique experience of being in the middle of a pandemic.
Yeah. I was looking back at the predictions that I had made last year and like four of those things didn’t even come out. It was just so unexpected. There’s two things that we really saw tied to the pandemic. The first was “cottagecore” as an aesthetic. It kind of touched everything because it’s soothing, it feels comfortable. In March and April in the early days, when you didn’t know what to do, you’re stuck in a forest isolation. Cottagecore has got this vibe of chosen isolation. It was very fantasy-driven and something to reach out for.
That evolved also into nostalgia. I think this year’s really big theme is nostalgia and comfort. We saw huge returns to fandoms like Twilight and Avatar: The Last Airbender. Avatar going on Netflix was such a world-breaking moment. Not only did it introduce a new, younger fandom to the show, there’s a lot of Avatar content once you get into it, but it brought people back to a younger time in their lives. Remembering and rewatching. The Avatar fandom, as you see, it’s all over all of the lists. Zuko is number 20 on all of the things on Tumblr this year. Avatar was able to redefine people’s year. Because you know what, we’re all at home, I’m going to binge Avatar. Reignite my love for this fandom.
A lot of TV too, because TV is episodic, you get lost in it. Movies had a really rough year. When we look at the movies, movies like Megamind were trending this year. That comfort movie that you go back and watch 17 times.
Yeah. I was curious about that too. The balance or proportions between older fandoms and newer fandoms, like the Avatar example. I was curious how much that changed this year? How much you thought it was tied to the pandemic? How much is tied to accessibility and things, like Avatar coming to Netflix? Do you think that is an interest in older fandoms? Or that it’s going to continue past the pandemic?
Yeah. I think another high-level theme of this year is the rejection of cringe culture. I’m getting a little ahead of myself, but I’ll tie it all back in. I think people are realizing what their values are and not being afraid to admit that they like a thing. Not caring what other people think of the things they like. Unabashedly loving the things they love. That’s why I think we do see a resurgence in these older fandoms.
Because people who may have loved them their whole lives, or may have been nervous to share that they liked it when they were younger they’re not afraid anymore. They’re like, “You know what? Twilight, it’s not that great, but I love it. This is my emotional support vampire.” Recognizing that you can be critical of something. You can see where its flaws are, but you can still love it. That duality of fandom is something that is going to persist into next year. That freedom to just like a thing, because you like it. Be able to see its flaws, but still be like, “You know what? Overall, this brings me joy and the world is melting down.”
I’m on board with that mission, that plan for 2021. I did want to ask about the role of non-English language media, especially live action stuff. Generally because I was someone who fell into The Untamed this year, but I saw that there were two SKAM remakes as well that are on the top 10. In general, have you seen over your time at Tumblr, and maybe especially in the past few years, an increase in non-English language content? Do you think that is mostly English speakers and Americans being more open to that or being able to find it easier? Or do you think it’s also an influx of people from outside the United States coming to Tumblr? Or both?
Interesting. The data that we work with is actually stripped of all user information. I don’t really have an insight into where these people are coming from. I do think that users in general are more open to content in any language. Tumblr is more interested in characters than where the story comes from. Thinking about The Untamed, it’s just such a compelling story, it doesn’t matter if you have to read subtitles.
To parallel it to something in major pop culture, Parasite. People are becoming more open to just watching content because it’s good. SKAM is really fascinating to me because the number one live action show is wtFOCK. Then, I think two years ago, 2018, the original SKAM was number one at some point. This show really transcends language barriers. It transcends geographical barriers. At the core, the story of the teenagers is just so relatable to anyone. We’ve seen lots of translation happening and not just into English. Translation of SKAM into other languages, just because people want more of these characters and their iterations, no matter what locale they’re based in. I’m waiting for some professor to have a class on it, because it’s so fascinating to me.
I also wanted to ask about how you thought the election cycle affected Tumblr this year, if there were any trends or data that you were like, “Yes, of course this is what people were doing on Tumblr this year.”
Tumblr has always had this backbone of social justice. This year, it came out stronger and in more force. No matter what fandom you were in or interests, everyone I know on Tumblr was participating in sharing social justice stuff. Even politics, if they weren’t from the US, those kinds of memes that were like, “I feel for you”. The way that fandoms do. I see your show is ending and I’m sorry.
The one thing that Tumblr really had leading up to the election was such an appreciation for the postal service. Especially Gen Z, their world is so much larger due to digital connection. Mail order, just as well as sending letters and keeping in touch with your digital friends is just as important as keeping in touch with your IRL friends. All of the artists on Tumblr, so many of them turn to mail order to replace cons. This is their livelihood. By the time the fall hit and the postal service was having all these issues, people are ready to jump in. There were the Transformers dressed like mail people.
https://morethanmeetstheass.tumblr.com/post/626466946047705088/i-completely-forgot-to-post-this-guy-here-this-is
There were all these comments like “support your postal workers,” “support the USPS.” It really boils down to the fact that we are all connected and the mail service is something in the US that connects everyone. Even overseas. Supporting these artists whose livelihood went from IRL to online and having to deal with all of this.
And the “Super Putin Election.” The confluence of those elements. I was just surfing on my personal computer and I was on Tumblr and I saw a post being like “Destiel’s canon.” I’m like, “Excuse me?” I immediately texted my team. I was like, “Open up your work computers, let’s go.”
It’s time.
We all signed on trying to figure out what’s going on and watching the numbers. That, to me, is thrilling. I said this to someone else, but it felt like the night of The Dress. To have that moment where everyone on the internet is feeling the energy. The things that kept getting layered on top of it. Putin and Sherlock and all the anime mysteries. It was breakneck speed, and it was really thrilling just to be in that moment, and so Tumblr.
I did want to ask you about an increase in animated fandom and potentially anime fandom. A lot of these things I’m anecdotally or just observing things in my own little corner of the internet. It just seems like animation and anime, probably at least partially because Netflix has accumulated a much larger anime collection and seems to be investing in these sorts of things. Have you seen that increase? Could you talk about it, if so?
It plays into what we were talking about earlier, twofold. That nostalgia vibe, the late nineties anime vibe, that art style. Also your comfort zone and being open to more stuff just because it’s good. Not worrying about reading subtitles and stuff like that. But anime in general had a huge year. Haikyū!! ending also transposed into other fandoms because that moment of the final panels, it brings people together. People being so excited to see this massive thing come to a close. You might not be familiar with Haikyū!! in general, but you’ll see the fanart and be like, “Oh, I feel that.” It’s the emotion of it.
The popularity of Avatar did also open people’s doors to like, “Oh, well, what else can I watch? What else do I want to learn about”? Boku No Hero was consistently on our Week In Review every week. BEASTARS is another Netflix anime that’s at the top. Then Mo Dao Zu Shi, thinking about The Untamed, the story of Mo Dao Zu Shi is so fascinating. I don’t think I can name another piece of content that has that storyline. People are just ready to take it all on.
I did want to ask you, I think you’ve probably talked about some of these already, but what were some of the biggest fandom moments for you on Tumblr this year?
Oh boy. So many things going canon. Catradora was a huge, huge moment. I cried watching that. The Witcher, Jaskier, introducing this whole new world to Henry Cavill. I saw a post yesterday that was like once Superman was goth, a lot more people realize that he’s hot. Repurposing and looking at things in a new way. Among Us, so huge. There is a user who is doing a comic about White and Pink being in love. She’s giving them lore. She’s giving them backstory, personalities. It is amazing.
Unus Annus, I am not very into streamers, but I’ve caught some of those videos. When they had their final stream, I was tuning in. I was like, “Are you really going to delete the channel?” Then they did. Just watching the fans have that moment, even though I am not in that fandom, it was wonderful so meaningful.
Harry Potter being taken by the fans. Fans own Harry Potter now, and that’s what matters. The Old Guard also came out of nowhere and really blew Tumblr away. The Immortal Husbands. I love that ship. I’ve got to touch on almost all of the places, MCR, My Chemical Romance. Those fans have woken up and they didn’t get their tour, but they will. They’re not going to sleep until they do.
Because we maybe all have Supernatural on the brain, to a certain extent. I’m just curious how you think, that show’s been on for 15 years. The fandom has gone through literal generations. How do you think the fandom is going to change?
There’s always going to be a supernatural gif for everything. People will continue gifing it. It’s going to surpass what it is and it’s going to become that comfort show. This is a personal anecdote, but when I go to the dentist, every single time supernatural is on. It’s just like, “Oh, I get to watch my boys while I’m getting my teeth cleaned. That’s good.” It’s always going to be there. It’s always going to be there for people when they need it the most. We’re going to see a lot more fan creations. People love these boys, men now they’re adults. People love these characters. I haven’t watched this season. I am going to watch the finale tonight. I’m going in almost cold. I know that a lot of fan favorites have returned. My prediction for Supernatural fandom going forward is seeing these side stories come through in fanfiction even more than they already do. Lots more Charlie. That’s personal of mine because I love her.
I don’t think you’re alone in this.
Yeah. Who doesn’t love Charlie? Seeing these smaller characters come out and just shine in their own fan works, more so than the world might’ve provided them in canon.
It feels dangerous to make fandom predictions based on what happened this year, but if you have any predictions and or hopes for the coming year in terms of Tumblr and fandom?
Where we’re at now and going forward, it’s all about true authenticity. Screw what people think. We’re rejecting our old ways of thinking. We’re about flipping perspectives and forgetting what you thought was important in exchange for what you truly love. 2020 has helped us all figure out what our values at our core are. It’s about choosing something that makes you happy, that supports you, and your people. Choosing the happiness of those around you and making sure that you’re fighting for the goodness in life. Which sounds really sugar sweet, but one of the things, again, that I love about Tumblr is it is about putting people first based on the things they love. That’s what I see happening.

i know we all make jokes about robert pattinson hating twilight but robert totally has right to get mad. Like he was 21yo constantly talk how creepy was 40yo moms toward him and Taylor (trying to touch them etc and Taylor was 15) and how racists attacked fka twigs for date him. That fandom ruined their lives.
The way the Twilight cast was treated and their social lives exploited for publicity was terrible. A lot of people have made the comparison to the SW cast being salty throughout the promo and after the release of the films, and it reminds me of Stranger Things and GOT kids getting harassed on the street. I really don’t fault actors for standing up for themselves or expressing their resentment toward entitled stan culture and the media. I’ve noticed that all across the entertainment industries (Hollywood, music, publishing, everywhere), there’s a change in what rising young talent will accept and how we discuss the standards of behavior.

The Best Kind Of Phone Sex
Pairing: Tom Holland x Reader
Summary: You have some fun with Tom while he’s on the phone with his family
A/N: This wasn't requested but the idea popped into my head so why not. Enjoy! (also this is super un-edited so if anything is majorly wrong please let me know)
Word Count: 1,939
Warning: SMUT, oral (male receiving), sex, unprotected sex, just a lot of sex, all that stuff. 18+
Tumblr media
Your body nuzzled further into Toms, his arm draped over your shoulder with your fingers intertwined with his, as the two of you mindlessly watched a show on Netflix, more preoccupied on your phones than the television.
“What’re we doing for dinner, gorgeous?” Tom asked, his eyes not shifting from his phone. You squeezed his hand slightly.
“I was thinking of making some butter chicken in like an hour-or-so.” You replied, turning to look up at him.
“Sounds perfect.” He grinned, “my mum is going to call soon because the family wants an update on everything that’s happening, sorry it might be a long chat.” Tom explained. He used his arm around your body to pull your head close to him, moving his lips to place a soft kiss on your forehead.
The two of you sat around for a bit longer until Tom’s phone rang and he picked it up, greeted by his mother.
“Yea, I’ve missed you too mum.” He began talking, his fingers absentmindedly playing with yours. Boredom filled the room as the TV volume was muted and Tom wasn’t available. You grinned deviously, shuffling your frame to face Tom. He looked back at you with a questioning look, clearly still listening to what was being said through the phone.
Your hand snaked over onto his lap, rubbing up and down his inner thigh. Tom didn’t entirely understand what you were getting at until you ran your hand up to his member. You jerked it slightly through his clothes, feeling it grow rapidly in your hand.
You continued to palm him through his jeans as you moved your body from beside him, to between his legs. You knelt in front of him, his eyes never leaving you as you shuffled around.
“No, I’m not busy at all.” He spoke, as your hand gently began undoing his button and zipper. His boner was very evident in his briefs.
“(Y/N) and I are just chilling on the couch watching Netflix.” You pulled his underwear down, watching his length pop out from under the cotton. Your eyes made contact with his, a wet lick drawing across your bottom lip as you lightly began jerking him. A smirk creeping across his lips as your mouth moved to wrap around his cock. You began sucking just the tip, teasing him ever-so-slightly. He took a deep sigh, loving the feeling of your warm mouth wrapped around his arousal.
“Yea, yea, I’m fine Mum. Just a bit tired.” He said, his voice slightly raspy, but still very calm. I guess he was a pretty good actor. It didn't take long before your mouth moved to take in his whole length, his tip hitting the base of your throat over and over as you bobbed your head. His eyes fell shut as his head finally rested back on the top of the couch. He kept speaking through the phone, his voice not fluctuating much as you continued.
He began asking his mum about how her past weeks had been. Part of you almost felt guilty for doing what you’re doing. He didn’t get to speak to his parents a whole lot considering how busy he was, and you didn’t want to ruin it for him. You were reassured of your actions when Tom’s hand moved to tangle in your hair. He gently pushed your head to quicken your pace, applying pressure in your mouth to put more force against his member.
He gulped as his jaw clenched tightly, obviously trying to stifle any groans. His hips buckled beneath you, loving the feeling you were giving to him. Sharp breaths escaped his mouth in replacement of his moans. You dipped your head lower, taking more of him in your mouth with shorter movements. You quite honestly thought Tom was going to been thrown over the edge. His breathing became uneven, his teeth biting hard against his bottom lip, and his legs shaking beneath you. It became harder for him to hold proper sentences. He tried to revert to mumbling ‘mhmm’ without his mum noticing something was going on.
His cock twitched in your mouth a few times, causing you to pull back. He looked down at you, his nostrils breathing deeply while his tongue was trapped between his teeth. You grinned. Your hand jerked his length slightly, letting him ease down from his almost-high. You returned your mouth back onto him and began sucking once again.
“Oh perfect, I’m on speaker.” He stated through the phone, though clearly wanting you to know as he looked down at you. He did his best to hold his voice steady. You licked up his shaft, popping his raging pink tip out of your mouth.
“Want me to stop?” You asked, very quietly, a cheeky smirk covering your face. He simply shook his head, threading his fingers deeper into your hair. Your mouth returned to his length, causing a deep sigh from his lips. You began bobbing your head against him once again. He began melting beneath you, his head falling back onto the couch head rest, his eyes fluttering shut. All he could do was focus on his breathing to not disrupt the call.
“Yea, I found out more about the movie the other day.” He commented, his hand lightly pushing against your head as you thrust his member in and out of your mouth. You hallowed out your cheeks to apply more pressure to him. Clearly having effect, Tom tensed below you, his breath shaking as he continued listening to the phone.
“It’s called ‘The Devil All The Time’,-” He paused, his lips pursing together to hold his mouth shut as a groan threatened to spill. You backed off just slightly, “it’s being directed by Antonio Campos.” He finally added.
He continued to explain the film to his parents over the phone while you continued sucking him off. He was obviously finding it hard to hold it together as he began letting slight hums and whimpers escape him, holding the phone away from his face whenever he couldn't hold it together. You felt his legs tensing sharply as his cock twitched in your mouth, indicating how close he was to finishing. But you wanted to have even more fun. Without warning you dropped his length from your mouth, pushing against his thighs to stand yourself up in front of him.
His breathing was deep as you stripped your shirt from your frame. Your nude breasts popping out from under the fabric. He roughly bit his bottom lip, his hand moved to begin lightly jerking himself off. You slipped your track pants off, throwing them into your puddle of other clothes.
“Uh, yea, Sebastian Stan, Robert Pattinson, Bill Skarsgard, Mia Wasikowska...” he listed, clearly not focused on what he was saying. You turned so your back was facing him, pulling your underwear down your legs to bend over in front of him. Giving him a view of everything. He practically wept. His hand reached out, grabbing your ass firmly. “And some others, I can’t remember at the moment.” He added, his hand rubbing over your smooth skin.
Your body turned back around to face him. Smiling down at him, your hands ran themselves through his messy, brunette hair, snaking themselves behind his head to firmly grip the top of the couch. You moved each of your legs to sit beside his thighs so you straddled his lap.
“Yea, it’s coming out in 2020.” Tom explained, his free hand grabbing your hip, squeezing your skin so tightly. His eyes burning holes as they skimmed over your nude frame.
Your hand moved down to his length to line it up with your heat. He starred at you, grin plastered on his face as you smirked back. You slowly slid down onto his member, your teeth immediately biting down on your lip to stifle the loud moan threatening to slip. Tom’s eyes squeezed shut and he hummed lightly, loving the feeling of your tight core around him. You forced your lips down on his, kissing him passionately as you rode his aching cock. He broke the kiss to speak through the phone again.
“Yea, I’m still coming over on the 22nd.” Both of your hips moved in unison, thrusting his length deeper into you. You bit your lip so hard you thought it might draw blood as you contained every moan. Your head moved so your mouth was right next to Tom’s other ear,
“That feels so fucking good Tommy,” you whispered, his eyes fluttering shut as a shiver sent through his spine. “It’s so big baby, you’re gonna make me cum.” You added quietly, thrusting yourself harder onto him, your pace increasing. His mouth dropped open, though he didn't let any sounds escape. Of course you didn't want to be caught by his parents, but it was just so fun playing with him like this.
“Yep, (Y/N) is definitely coming.” He spoke through the phone, opening his eyes to smirk at you. A light giggle fell from your lips, being over taken by a hushed moan as his length pounded deep inside you. Both of you breathed deeply, letting your chests rise and fall against each other as beads of sweat formed on your foreheads.
His cock slid in and out of you, rubbing over a bundle of nerves deep inside you that made you want to scream Tom’s name over and over. You couldn't get enough of the feeling as he thrust his hips up, pounding his length into you. His hand still held your waist tightly, helping you move your hips down onto his lap again and again. He loved watching your face as he fucked you deeply, watching your eyes practically roll back into your head and your abdomen tensing. He loved the feeling of his member inside you, how your walls squeezed his tip, making him want to hammer you senselessly.
It was becoming increasingly harder for you two to stay silent.
“Yea, I miss you too Mum and Dad.” He commented, telling his parents that he had to leave for something, in reality he just felt himself nearing the finish. Your dripping walls hugging his member tightly was absolutely throwing him over the edge.
“Yep, love you guys too,” he rambled quickly, his breath now heaving through his gapping mouth, “yea, I've gotta go, bye.” He quickly pressed his phone, tossing it on the couch beside him.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck.” He finally groaned out, his other hand grabbing your waist to help thrust you onto him faster.
“Tommy... I’m gonna cum.” You whined, tangling your fingers in his messy hair. Your head rolled on your shoulders as you let your orgasm go. Moans tangled with Tom’s name escaped your mouth as you came all over Tom’s member.
“Fuck, it’s so tight.” He growled out, feeling you clench around him as you rode out your high. Your legs shaking as colour clouded your vision, your body practically dripping with ecstasy. “I’m gonna cum too, baby.” He added, his hips moving with yours to roughly thrust himself inside you.
“I wanna feel you fill me up, Tom.” You whimpered, your arms wrapped around the back of Tom’s neck to hold your frames tightly together. With a few more grunts Tom finally unraveled, blowing himself inside you. There was a moment of silence as you two just held each other close, pleasure oozing around each of your bodies as your muscles relaxed into one-and-other.
“Uhm, Tom, you still there?” Nikki’s voice filled the room. You looked over at his phone to see the speaker button activated, rather than the end call button.
Your jaws hit the floor.

Get to know me game!
I was tagged by @longitud-de-onda-Thank you love! <3
I’m supposed to tag 21 people but I am not going to do that because I don’t think I even know 21 people and also I don’t want to annoy people. Also I added a read more because it got SUPER long and I don’t want to annoy people.
Nickname: My dad calls me Bug, but he’s the only one who does
Real name: Kylie
Zodiac: Okay I’m not into astrology so I spent like 20 minutes trying to figure this out, so if anyone would like to tell me what this means go for it, but I am apparently a Taurus sun, Taurus rising, and Aries moon
Favorite musicians/bands: Marianas Trench is number 1, followed closely by Josh Groban (don’t judge me), Queen, Elton John, Scott Helman, Jonas Brothers, Peter Hollens, Celtic Thunder and a lot of Broadway Musical casts
Favorite Sports Team: I don’t really care that much about sports, but I was raised a 49ers fan because my dad grew up near San Francisco and I do enjoy tennis and my favorite player is probably Rafael Nadal and I also like Roger Federer and Serena Williams
Other blogs: none! But I’m contemplating starting a side blog for my writing
Do I get asks: Not many, but I love them when I get them!
Tumblr crushes: OH BOY
@rzrcrst is the love of my life and I adore her. Her fics are amazing and she’s a literal ray of sunshine and is just so absolutely kind and lovely and encouraging and she’s the reason I started writing again, and the reason I started posting my writing on Tumblr.
@longitud-de-onda is a beautiful wonderful person and I love her fics so much. She’s so kind to me and always encourages my writing and I love reading her comments about my writing.
@lannister-slings-and-arrows another lovely fic writer who’s work I enjoy immensely. Also her tags on just about everything are both hilarious and relateable  and I love reading them
@tarrevizslas yet another lovely fic writer! A beautiful writer and also a very sweet person. She also always encourages my writing and is just an angel.
@landlockedmermaid77 is my irl best friend and she’s always so lovely and supportive and I haven’t been able to see her in over a month because of this stupid virus and I miss her so much. I promise I’ll start working on that Will Miler fic for you soon my love!
Lucky numbers: 17
What I am wearing: black It:Chapter 2 sleep shorts that say “Loser’s Club” and have a paper boat on them and a Dragon Age tank top with all the Love Interests from the first game on it and that is also way too big for me and shows a lot of side boob, but that will not stop me from wearing it lol
Favorite Food: Steak!!! and french fries! And I will also never turn down chicken nuggets.
Dream vacation: I’ve always really wanted to go to Ireland and Scotland. They’re so beautiful and green and I LOVE Celtic music and I’ve just always wanted to go. Plus if I go, maybe I will meet a cute person with a beautiful accent and we will fall in love lol
Dream car: I like cool fast cars and a Tesla would be cool if Elon Musk didn’t suck so bad. BUT I am also very small and I like to feel tall so I would also love a pick up truck or a jeep!
Drink of choice: Coke babeeey. but not Pepsi that’s gross. and water, I really love water for some reason
Instruments: I can KIND OF play the piano? Like well enough for vocal warm ups and to play a part for me to sing with, but like not very well. I used to play the flute and the clarinet but I was okay at the flute and terrible with the clarinet, the only song I actually played will on clarinet was when we did Duel of the Fates from Phantom Menace and that’s because I only had to play like 6 notes the whole time because it was the background “duh duh duhduhduh” thing over and over again. I do sing though! I love to sing and it’s my favorite and I wish I sang for people more because it’s like the one thing about myself I like and I’m not insecure about.
Languages: unfortunately just English. Unless you count the little bit of Elvish I know because I’m a fucking loser.
Celebrity crushes: PEDRO PASCAL. Also Indira Varma, Oscar Isaac, James McAvoy, Diego Luna, Gal Gadot, Antonio Banderas (dude Take the Lead, Spy Kids, and Zorro really did a number on me as a kid), Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund, Orlando Bloom, Kiera Knightly, Johnny Depp, Robert Pattinson, Nathan Fillion, Brendan Fraser in the Mummy really did it for me and so did Rachel Weisz and the guy who played Ardeth. Okay I should probably stop.
Random facts: I have three tattoos, I can sing Phantom of the Opera if I have warmed up properly and I sing it very loud and also if I am alone and no one makes fun of me. I haven’t done it in a long time though so I would definitely need to practice before attempting it again. I have a scar on my leg from when I went to Maine with a friend and her family when I was in middle school (my family lived in New Hampshire at the time so it wasn’t that far) and my friend and I were walking in the ocean and the water was very cloudy and there was a huge rock I didn’t see and I ran into it and literally put a hole in my leg, like an actual hole, this was like 10 years ago and the scar is still there clear as day. I remember the lifeguard who bandaged it was named Jack and only remember because I was going through a huge Pirates of the Caribbean obsession. Oh, and it got infected so badly that if I hadn’t gone to the doctor when I did (about a week and a half after it happened) I would have had to have my leg amputated, but lucky for me I just needed some antibiotics! I was an Astrophysics major when I was still in school, and before that I was a theatre major and that was VERY fun. I also got about halfway through the baking program at my local tech college before I left because of issues with my mental health and because I wanted to go to school for theatre and music. I would love to go back either for Astrophysics again (this bitch fucking loves space) or Music/Vocal Performance.
Okay sorry that got SUPER LONG. If you read all of it, good for you and thanks! If not that is also okay because I don’t know how to shut up, and also I like attention but you’re not obligated to give it to me.

Movies of 2020 - My Pre-Summer Favourites (Part 1)
The Runners-Up:
20.  DISAPPEARANCE AT CLIFTON HILL – first up is this sneaky little psychological mystery thriller from writer-director Albert Shin (In Her Place), a semi-autobiographical piece inspired by his own childhood experiences at his family’s motel at Niagara Falls.  Sense8 star Tuppence Middleton delivers magnificently as a troubled young woman whose long-buried memories of witnessing a child-abduction in the area are stirred up following her mother’s death, while Shin weaves a palpable atmosphere of dread and doubt as the twisted narrative confounds our expectations.
19.  BEASTIE BOYS STORY – Spike Jonze, undeniably one of Hollywood’s most outside-the-box directors, is the perfect choice to tell the story of one of music’s most live-wire bands (he did, after all, helm their greatest music video, the incendiary Sabotage).  Unfortunately, MCA died in 2012, but Mike D and Ad-Rock are on-hand to remember their best friend during this endlessly fascinating live-recorded stage-show in which they recount their tale with the aid of Jonze’s quirkily edited montage of archive footage and crappy animations.
18.  THE RHYTHM SECTION – Blake Lively follows in the footsteps of Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman to reinvent herself as a kickass action heroine in this dark and edgy revenge thriller from rising star female director Reed Morano (Meadowland, TV’s The Handmaid’s Tale), but she does things a little differently, portraying an instantly relatable, refreshingly vulnerable amateur warrior who enlists the help of Jude Law’s disgraced MI6 spook to train her to kill after her whole family die in a terrorist attack.
17.  BOMBSHELL – the #MeToo movement gets its strongest cinematic ammunition to date with this challenging true-life drama chronicling the very public fall of media mogul Roger Ailes (portrayed with loathsome brilliance by John Lithgow) and the beleaguered women from Fox News who brought him down (represented here by the spectacular triumvirate of Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie).  It’s hard to watch at times, but that’s the point, and the choice of comedy director Jay Roach (best known for Austin Powers) is not so surprising after thought-provoking films like Trumbo.
16.  JOJO RABBIT – the year certainly got off to suitably eclectic start with this leftfield black comedy from Taika Waititi, following the misadventures of Hitler Youth cadet Jojo Betzler (an incredible debut from Roman Griffin Davis) and his imaginary friend Adolf (Waititi in his wackiest screen role to date) as they negotiate the final days of the Third Reich.  In less assured hands this film could have been an offensive mess, but ultimately proved to be one of the year’s most rewardingly entertaining and surprisingly powerful films.
15.  THE LAST FULL MEASURE – writer-director Todd Robinson delivers a powerful slice of true-life drama with this account of the 32-year struggle to secure a posthumous award of the Medal of Honour for the Vietnam War sacrifice of US Air Force pararescueman William Pitsenbarger.  Sebastian Stan stars as the Pentagon staffer embarking on a frustrating battle against decades of red tape, and there’s first-rate support from William Hurt, Ed Harris, Samuel L. Jackson and Peter Fonda as the traumatised veterans determined to see their fallen comrade finally get the recognition he deserves.
14.  BLOODSHOT – right now, the 2020 award for my biggest guilty pleasure goes to this gloriously OTT ultra-violent superhero flick, intended to be the opening entry in a big-screen shared-universe based on the Valiant Comics properties.  Vin Diesel is no-brainer casting as brutally murdered US marine Ray Garrison, brought back to life using nanotechnology which grants him superhuman strength and massive regenerative abilities that render him virtually indestructible.  This is big, loud, dumb cinema at its most fun, and I’m DEFINITELY up for more.
13.  THE LIGHTHOUSE – rightly winning awards from all quarters and garnering massive praise and recognition, writer-director Robert Eggers’ second feature EASILY eclipses the low key brilliance of his debut horror flick The Witch, thoroughly outdoing it in terms of sheer nerve-shredding anxiety and mind-scrambling WEIRDNESS.  Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson both deliver career-best performances as the 19th Century wickies suffering increasingly crippling cabin fever in their remote New England lighthouse.
12.  A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD – like many kids of the 1980s, I have strong formative memories of Fred Rogers (I may be Brit, but my dad was in the RAF, so we spent three very key years of my childhood living in St Louis, Missouri), so I was FASCINATED by the prospect of a biopic, especially if the great man was going to be played by one of my very favourite actors, Tom Hanks.  He thoroughly deserved his latest Oscar nomination for effortlessly bringing Mister Rogers to vivid life under the expert guidance of writer-director Marielle Heller (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) in this spellbinding emotional extravaganza.
11.  DANIEL ISN’T REAL – undoubtedly destined to become a future cult classic, this quietly unnerving and insidiously disturbing psychological horror from indie writer-director Adam Egypt Mortimer (Some Kind of Hate) is certainly one of my top under-the-radar hits for the year so far.  Patrick (son of Arnie) Schwarzenegger oozes toxic masculinity as Daniel, the decidedly malevolent imaginary friend who’s suddenly resurfaced in the life of emotionally fragile New York student Luke (Blockers and Halloween’s Miles Robbins), knocking his life into a nightmarish spiral of Lovecraftian existential terror.

The 10th Annual L.A.O.K. Awards
Wow. Ten years of the Layokies. What a trip. I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to all five of my faithful fans for your readership over the years. In my first ever Layokies post, I named it the “1st (Possibly) Annual L.A.O.K. Awards.” I had no idea how long I’d be working at the Academy, let alone living in LA, but here we are. I bragged about seeing 180 movies that year. I just checked my Letterboxd stats for this year and it turns out I watched...180 movies. However, this year I hit a new personal best for new releases: 125. While this is about half as many as some people I know, some of the first Layokies were based on a field of 60 or 70 movies, so I’ve doubled up on my old self. Funny thing is, I can still look on other year-end lists and find many films I haven’t seen, and even some I haven’t heard of, so the field of films I’ve added are probably in the middle to bottom range of the pack. But someone out there has to watch Tolkien, Gemini Man, The Goldfinch, and Where’d You Go, Bernadette?, so it might as well be me.
In all honesty, my absolute favorite thing about living in Los Angeles and working at the Academy is access to watching movies and being around the general cinephile community, and even a bad couple of hours in a movie theater beats a lot else. Over Christmas break I saw Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in Shawnee, OK’s own Cinema Center 8.
Tumblr media
It was quite a trip going back to this theater after so many years and to think of the love of film that was fostered there. Alas, the picture was pretty muddy, and I’m almost positive they showed it in 2k. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Now, in penance for naming The King’s Speech Best Picture in my first year (lol), I give you five real good’uns for 2019:
Best Film The Farewell The King Little Women Parasite Uncut Gems
Sometimes I touch on a year being good or bad for film in general. Not sure about the whole, but I’ll call 2019 a real SEC year (aka stacked at the top and mediocre to poor the rest of the way down). While I would probably only give one title on this list must-see status (Parasite), these are all definite should-sees. The Farewell made me laugh and cry and cringe. One might even go so far as to say it “gave me all the feels.” The King gave me actual siege warfare and period-accurate haircuts. Little Women hit me with that structure, and at first I was all “hol up,” but then I was all “OK I see you.” Little Women also made me cry because I cry in movies now. (A quick aside, because while I absolutely loved Little Women, it’s not really going to come up again. If you liked the movie and haven’t read the book, please do yourself a favor and make it the next one on your list. You can’t know how great this movie is unless you know how good Beth is. Beth kind of got lost in this one, and you need to know Beth.) Parasite blew me away through its normality (who, having seen The Host, Snowpiercer, and Okja could have guessed that it wasn’t about some actual alien parasite??). And Uncut Gems was exactly as perfect as I expected it to be. And the Layokie goes to... The King
Tumblr media
Faithful readers will know that one of my absolute favorite genres is ‘discreet conversation behind castle walls,’ and The King absolutely nailed it. It has everything: leadership position foisted on a worthy but flawed character who doesn’t want it, conversations in tents about battle tactics, love built on almost nothing but mutual respect, and most of all, Robert Pattinson doing a funny accent (it’s just a French accent, but he makes it quite funny). I would have already watched this again five times on Netflix, but I’m hoping and praying for an Oscar nomination that will never ever in a million years come in hopes that I can see it again in the theater during nominations screenings.
The Next Five Six 1917 Honey Boy The Laundromat The Lighthouse Marriage Story Portrait of a Lady on Fire
Best Actor Timothée Chalamet - The King Adam Driver - Marriage Story Paul Walter Hauser - Richard Jewell Joaquin Phoenix - Joker Adam Sandler - Uncut Gems
Another super stacked category this year. You might even say they’re *puts on sunglasses*...Stacked Actors. (<-- This is a really good joke for anyone whose favorite band from 7th-8th grade was The Foo Fighters.) These are all kind of obvious, so I’ll take a second to comment on Paul Walter Hauser and the fact that I gave out a very specific award last year titled “Refuse to Watch - Any More Clint Eastwood Movies” after trying and failing to watch The 15:17 to Paris on a plane (one of the worst pieces of filmmaking I’ve ever witnessed). Then this year Richard Jewell was getting such good buzz, and it seemed like such a good cast, and it was such a low-risk watch (on my second screen at work while doing spreadsheets), that I decided to shamefully renege on my earlier pronouncement and give it a shot. And...it was great pretty good! What is the deeal with Clint Eastwood?? He’s made some of my least favorite movies of the decade (Gran Torino, Invictus, Hereafter was a particularly awful stretch, Sully was pointless, and even parts of American Sniper, which was otherwise tolerable, were absolute cringefests). Anywho, I was very impressed by Paul Walter Hauser’s understated but perfect performance, in which he gets one good chance to blow up and yell at people--which you know I love. I hope he gets nominated, because it would be a great Oscar clip. (My ultimate dream job would be to pick the acting Oscars clips and I would be very very good at it.)
And the Layokie goes to... The Sandman (love that everyone is calling him the Sandman again)
Tumblr media
I touched on Adam Sandler “A” in the Best Supporting Actor section of my 2018 Layokies post regarding his performance in The Meyerowitz Stories, lamenting that he hadn’t taken more dramatic roles after Punch-Drunk Love and hoping that good writer/directors would keep casting him. One more wish granted by the Safdie brothers. Adam Sandler’s talent is undeniable. He is truly one of the Great Actors of his generation. I really hope this is a respected-actor-making turn for him, but the upcoming roles on his IMDd--Hubie Halloween and Hotel Transylvania 4--don’t give much hope for the immediate future.
Honorable Mentions Taron Egerton - Rocketman (but only for the phone booth scene) Shia LaBeouf - The Peanut Butter Falcon Noah Jupe - Honey Boy Robert Pattinson - The Lighthouse Jonathan Pryce - The Two Popes
Best Actress Ana de Armas - Knives Out Scarlett Johansson - Marriage Story Elisabeth Moss - Her Smell Florence Pugh - Midsommar Saoirse Ronan - Little Women
Found out last night from my resident celebrity expert Bridgette Smith that Florence Pugh is dating Zach Braff and it absolutely crushed me.
And the Layokie goes to... Elisabeth Moss - Her Smell
Tumblr media
Her Smell was the last 2019 film I watched before writing this post, and I was really just looking for something to pass the time. I had been wanting to see it for a long time and noticed it was on HBO, so I pressed play and planned to work on this post while I watched. I couldn’t. I was riveted. The writing, score, and sound design are incredible, but it’s all tied together by Elisabeth Moss’s performance. She’s excellent at being revolting but still has all of those qualities that made her Peggy. You can’t not like her, even though you fairly hate her.
Honorable Mentions Awkwafina - The Farewell Cynthia Erivo - Harriet Lupita Nyong’o - Us (You know I love weird voices, you know I love actors doing weird voices and faces, but this was a bit much even for me. Reflective of Us on the whole, which I thought was interesting but really missed the mark.) Charlize Theron - Bombshell
Best Director Ari Aster - Midsommar Bong Joon Ho - Parasite David Michôd - The King Benny and Josh Safdie - Uncut Gems Céline Sciamma - Portrait of a Lady on Fire
And the Layokie goes to... Benny and Josh Safdie - Uncut Gems
Tumblr media
Wired: New directors Tired: Old directors
Boy do I not understand the love for The Irishman and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I’m not totally against boring movies if there’s a good reason for it (Midsommar was actually quite boring), but these were some of the least compelling films I watched all year. On the other hand, you have these young directors coming out of prestige horror, Ari Aster, Robert Eggers, and to a lesser extent David Robert Mitchell and Trey Edwards Shults, making some of the most dynamic films out there. Reminds me of Roger Ebert talking about early Scorsese in Life Itself (which I can’t find a clip of). Then you have Benny and Josh Safdie doing Scorsese better than Scorsese with literally breathtaking shots like the one below. How they construct such amazing edits out of such disparate takes as the one in the still above is a wonder. They’ll go from five extreme close-ups in a row to a jaw-dropping shot of the inside of a jewelry store zoomed in from across the street. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg on what makes them the best filmmakers working right now.
Tumblr media
Honorable Mentions Noah Baumbach - Marriage Story Robert Eggers - The Lighthouse Claire Denis - High Life Greta Gerwig - Little Women Alejandro Landes - Monos Sam Mendes - 1917 Alex Ross Perry - Her Smell Joe Talbot - The Last Black Man in San Francisco Lulu Wang - The Farewell
Best Supporting Actress Laura Dern - Marriage Story Lena Headey - Fighting with My Family Lee Jung Eun - Parasite (The housekeeper) Meryl Streep - The Laundromat Shuzhen Zhao - The Farewell (Nai Nai)
And the Layokie goes to... Laura Dern - Marriage Story
Tumblr media
Here’s one for the Laura Dern stan accounts: There’s no question that Noah Baumbach is a talented director of actors, but Laura Dern makes so much out of seemingly not a lot in this role. She truly embodies a wholly unique and three-dimensional character that could have extremely easily been one-note.
Honorable Mentions Lily-Rose Depp - The King Florence Pugh - Little Women Margot Robbie - Bombshell
Best Supporting Actor Timothée Chalamet - Little Women Willem Dafoe - The Lighthouse Shia LaBeouf - Honey Boy Al Pacino - The Irishman Robert Pattinson - The King
And the Layokie goes to... Willem Dafoe - The Lighthouse
Tumblr media
For being all: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xT7uR4wNMJs
Honorable Mentions Bill Hader - It Chapter Two Tim Heidecker - Us Sam Rockwell - Richard Jewell Song Kang Ho - Parasite (the dad) Lakeith Stanfield - Uncut Gems
Best Original Screenplay The Farewell - Lulu Wang Her Smell - Alex Ross Perry Marriage Story - Noah Baumbach Parasite - Bong Joon Ho Uncut Gems - Benny and Josh Safdie
And the Layokie goes to... Parasite - Bong Joon Ho
Tumblr media
Another genre we don’t get nearly enough of: comedies of errors. A script like this is as sophisticated as any mystery, political thriller, or...some other sophisticated type of script, like uh, I don’t know, they usually just say Chinatown or Witness. I did think it lagged a bit in the third act, but everything that came before it was so tight. Twist after turn after twist, so funny, so shocking. This is such a rare prestige crowd-pleaser that it really does harken back to Hitchcock; if a wide audience can get over watching subtitles, this has to have one of the lowest barriers for entry of any foreign film in a long time. Here’s hoping for a Best Picture Oscar nomination and a wide release. Uncut Gems played at Shawnee’s other theater (titled simply Movies 6), so it’s not that far out of the realm of possibility. But I know people in LA, even that work at the Academy, who won’t watch subtitled films, so getting people to actually go see it is another question.
Honorable Mentions Peterloo - Mike Leigh
Best Adapted Screenplay Jojo Rabbit - Taika Waititi Joker - Todd Philips & Scott Silver The King - David Michôd The Laundromat - Scott Z. Burns The Two Popes - Anthony McCarten
And the Layokie goes to... The King - Joel Edgerton and David Michôd
Tumblr media
It wouldn’t be the Layokies without me championing one film that no one else cares about. I just really really liked The King. Timothée Chalamet is so hot right now! How did this get so overlooked?? 😭
Best Documentary Apollo 11 Honeyland It’s a Hard Truth Ain’t It Maiden Mike Wallace is Here
And the Layokie goes to... Maiden
Tumblr media
As I’m in the process of producing a documentary right now, it pains me a bit that my top two picks in this category are almost entirely archival. I thought Mike Wallace is Here was so well done, and the director did some amazing things playing with aspect ratio. But Maiden came into port first. What is wrong with people who don’t appreciate sports? This xkcd comic (who I usually appreciate) makes me so angry. Tell the women who worked their asses off for years to claw their way into this male-dominated space and literally made the world a better place that their efforts were no more than a weighted random number generator on which to build narratives! Clearly the narratives are there, but it rarely has as much to do with the result of the competition as it does the effort that it took individual human beings to get there. See also: Undefeated (currently streaming on Netflix).
Honorable Mentions Fyre They Shall Not Grow Old Satan & Adam
Best Foreign Language Film Duh Parasite
Biggest Missed Opportunity Pokemon: Detective Pikachu (How the first live action Pokemon movie should have happened)
Not Even Close to Enough Monsters Godzilla: King of the Monsters
Most Unbelievable Cosplay Tom Hanks as Mr. Rogers
Absolutely Crushing the Sensitive Dad Roles Billy Crudup in After the Wedding and Where’d You Go, Bernadette?
Good in Everything Too obvious, but Florence Pugh - Fighting with My Family, Midsommar, Little Women Robert Pattinson - High Life, The Lighthouse, The King Adam Driver - The Dead Don’t Die, Marriage Story, The Report, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
Destigmatizing Fatness Award Dolemite is My Name The Laundromat Skin Almost Hustlers but then not (Lizzo got what, 30 seconds of screentime??)
#WasteYourAudience’sTime2019 The Souvenir The Proposal
Didn’t Actually Deserve to be Driven into the Ground Dark Phoenix The Kitchen
Just Plain Liked It Triple Frontier
Most Forgettable Tie: Tolkien and High Life (not for me, but it took me a full 10 minutes to convince Becca that she watched this, and I had to describe the masturbation chamber aka fuck box in a lot of detail before she got it, and I’m still not totally convinced she remembers it)
The Something Award Motherless Brooklyn
The Nothing Award Judy
Worst Movies 1. Rambo: Last Blood 2. Between Two Ferns: The Movie 3. Abominable 4. The Lion King 5. Godzilla: King of the Monsters 6. Wine Country 7. Jumanji: The Next Level 8. Frozen II 9. The Goldfinch 10. Pet Semetary
Best Scenes
Avengers: Endgame - The hammer, the portals, all the nerdy/normie BS, what can I say call me a basic bitch but there were some genuine holy schmoly moments in this that made it a really fun movie to experience in the theater
A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood - When Mr. Rogers uses the puppets on Lloyd
Captain Marvel - When she went full shit on ‘em
Climax - The opening dance sequence (the only thing that made this movie worth watching)
The Farewell - Too many to choose from, but I think my favorite moment in this movie was when they were taking photos of the fiances and another couple stumbled in on them, claiming they were lost. That couple leaves and we never see them again. These are the kinds of details that make movies come alive. Absolutely brilliant.
Gemini Man - The motorcycle chase (a rare scene actually made better by the high frame rate)
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum - The knife fight in the knife store
The King - The conversation between Hal and Catherine
Knock Down the House - When A.O.C. debated the incompetent proxy
The Last Black Man in San Francisco - Skateboarding into town
Little Women - The “break-up” scene between Jo and Laurie (not a spoiler)
Midsommar - The drug trip scene (not that I’ve ever done drugs but this was the most accurate drug trip scene of all time) and the Ättestupa ceremony. Also found out in the video linked above that Ari Aster pronounces it Mid-SO-mar?? I thought that was the dumb way to pronounce it but apparently I’m the dumb one. Also also, another amazing detail worth mentioning: I absolutely loved that every time they were in their community sleeping barn, there was a baby crying somewhere on the second floor that we never see. Such a perfect way to put the characters and the audience on edge and indicate that there’s something wrong here.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - While I didn’t care for this movie, the scene where Brad Pitt went to the movie ranch and when he fantasized about going to the film set were absolutely dripping with tension, which made them as just as riveting as the rest of the movie wasn’t
Parasite - When the other family comes home early
The Peanut Butter Falcon - The scene after they come out of the corn field and share one of their first genuine moments
Uncut Gems - *Sarah Palin voice* All of ‘em, any of ‘em. But seriously the finale with the Celtics game
Us - The initial home invasion and the visit to the Tylers’ home (Tim Heidecker and Elisabeth Moss)
The A.V. Club also does a best scenes list at the end of the year, and I love writing mine first and then seeing what they came up with. I’m always surprised at how many we match on. Just goes to show that a good scene is universal. I also enjoyed some of theirs that I overlooked here, including from Her Smell, Bombshell, Ad Astra (I almost included the moon chase myself and thought the baboon scene was equally compelling), and Portrait of a Lady on Fire.
Stupidest Scenes Every other John Wick 3 scene
Deserves Discussion The Dead Don’t Die
This movie was a lot of fun. But then it also completely sucked? Not really a Jim Jarmusch fan in the first place, but this had so many awesome elements to it: a great cast, great soundtrack, really fun and unexpected ways of breaking the 4th wall, but then it was also pointless and boring. I would love for someone to tell me why this is a good movie after all, but judging by its complete absence from the end-of-the-year discussion (or any discussion), I’m guessing no one cares enough to mount that challenge.
Best Visuals Alita: Battle Angel Aquarella A Hidden Life Honeyland Midsommar Monos
Many LOLs It Chapter Two Jojo Rabbit Parasite
Best Song Ready or Not - The Hide and Seek Song (why was this not submitted?)
youtube
Best Soundtrack Waves - Never have I already known so many songs on a film’s soundtrack; it’s almost as if Trey Edwards Shults is another white guy around my age with the same interests as me...
Worst Accents Midway
Started But Never Finished Cats Cold Case Hammarskjold Genndy Tartakovsky’s ‘Primal’ - Tales of Savagery  The Highway Men High Flying Bird Queen and Slim Spies in Disguise
Didn’t See Ash is Purest White Atlantics The Beach Bum The Body Remembers When the World Broke Open (still really want to see this one) Clemency Diane Invisible Life Luce Shadow Synonyms Transit Woman at War
Absent on Purpose Pain & Glory Ford v Ferrari I think these are the only two contenders that I’ve seen and haven’t mentioned. I actually liked both of these movies quite a bit. Just didn’t stand out for me in any one category I suppose. But then also: Booksmart Brittany Runs a Marathon Just Mercy The Mustang
Hah!

Welcome to the first installment of the TouchDongers Foobaw Lig Power Rankings  yadda yadda this doesn’t really require any introduction – reading this is kind of like waking up in a virtual gulag in a Black Mirror episode. You can feign ignorance all you want, but you know deep down why you’re here, Mohamed Jetta.
I’m hosting this on tumblr because it’s barely more public than a google doc thanks to the porn ban that whisked away all my piss bookmarks just as I was starting to make real inroads on a new fetish. Thanks for nothing you Puritan technocrats. If the pageviews from this post give you 35 more cents in your next worthless sale I demand compensation in the form of 45 second clips of coeds soaking granite countertops.
Pay your league dues so I can indulge my second favorite fluffing pastime of mailing people ostentatious shit they don’t need. I’m accepting submissions for the name of the championship trophy. Current front-runner is The Shiny Hiney so you might want to get on that (and I’m not talking about scaling Griffin’s stark-white cracked mountainside prone to avalanches and civilian suffocation)
WITH PLENTY OF FAFFING ABOUT
10. Leaguema Balls (Dirty Mike)
Record: 0-1 | PF: 73 | PA: 167.7
Playing Next: Airstrip One Ezekiels Engels (Derv)
Questionable Decision of the Week: Living with the knowledge that he gave himself forehead welts
The only man in double digits for team score created a gulf between himself and the rest of the field almost as big as the space between his eyeballs. I’m not saying Mike’s squad is already done for, but on the heels of many players demanding trades from Miami after their week one demolition, Travis Kelce called his agent and said he wouldn’t do another mind-numbingly stupid McDonald’s commercial until he was cut loose to go play for another Dongers contender. Not only was this performance abysmal, but I can’t even label it an outlier because Devonta Freeman is now hurt and his 3 other major skill players are from the NFC North where points are harder to find than Josh Gordon’s 2 week AA chip.
Tumblr media
9. Airstrip One Ezekiels Engels (Derv)
Record: 0-1 | PF: 120.9 | PA: 151.6
Playing Next: I just fukcing did this one
Questionable Decision of the Week: the Mets
Writing a summary of Derv’s fantasy prospects feels a lot like breaking the news to a wounded soldier that he’s had to have his dick amputated. Sure, you’re not technically dead, but what is there to live for? Derv has two good quarterbacks in a league where you can only start one, which marks the first and last time she’ll have two men vying for one of her slots. Zeke ended his holdout just in time to put up 12 points a game because Jerruh will be GOT DAMNED if he pays anyone an obscene amount of money and then has them succeed. Her best wide receiver made softcore porn with Pete Carroll. I’d rather read The Sun Also Rises again than keep looking at this roster to make any more jokes.
Tumblr media
8. James White is Right (Tori)
Record: 0-1 | PF: 131.2 | PA: 173.4
Playing Next: The Queen’s Booty Lickers (Liv)
Questionable Decision of the Week: Thinking that being introverted is a substitute for a personality
Tori ran into a Clemson-scented buzzsaw this week and was really not at fault for the enormity of her loss, which is more than I can say about the fact that 85% of her Sundays vanish into her duvet cover because she got alcohol poisioning after gagging down 3 jello shots and looking at her bottle of listerine before she got into bed. That considered, though, she’s going to need Austin Ekeler to keep putting up 40-point games like he’s not a body double from ‘Honey, I Shrunk the Kids’ AND she’ll need Matt Ryan to learn what side of a football holds the white thingies for her to get any kind of consistent production going forward. Much like she would say about Sacramento being a gangrenous taint, “I just don’t see it.”
Tumblr media
7. Sean’s Hard Mangos (sean)
Record: 0-1 | PF: 130.7 | PA: 136.2
Playing Next: Mark Ruffalo’s Ruffalo Bills (Aidan)
Questionable Decision of the Week: Paying more than the cost of a Notre Dame education for a military-grade laser-guided beard trimmer
Sean dropped his game versus Griffin in the closest fight since the donnybrook between his ex-girlfriend and sanity. A couple breaks here and there and he might have come away with a W. Unfortunately, Tyreek Hill will be out for an indefinite period of time after finding out that it’s hard to box with people who aren’t 5 years old and Evan Engram is going to put up 28 points again as soon as Father Jenkins decides it’s high time to adhere to his vow of poverty. His third-leading scorer this week was his kicker. Last time everyone discovered so obviously that something fishy was afoot Sean needed his location tracked to a downtrodden dormitory fuck-barn.
Tumblr media
6. Mark Ruffalo’s Ruffalo Bills (Aidan)
Record: 1-0 | PF: 151.6 | PA: 120.9
Playing Next: Reading comprehension
Questionable Decision of the Week: $45 says he’s still doing Fontaine to all of his roommates and they’re plotting in equal measures to cut him out of the will and to put a steak knife in his femoral artery
Big boy trade man saw his wheeling and dealing pay off, running contrary to his favorite Silver-and-Black organization, and to the time he swapped his dignity for his desktop toaster oven. Drew Brees stepped up, and not just on the baby footstool he uses to properly gaze into the bathroom mirror to examine his face birthmark that looks like Spaghetti-O cum. Julio and JuJu took the field, which is worth 15 points apiece in standard ESPN scoring. Outside of that, though, we have another aberrant kicker performance, this one from Harrison “Anal” Butker, and Josh Jacobs putting up 25 against a Broncos defense more porous than an Aidan snap group selfie. Expect a greater fall from grace than that of the Robert Pattinson Porsche launching itself from the car WTC.
Tumblr media
5. Cartoon Colt Copulation (Gabe)
Record: 0-1 | PF: 127.1 | PA: 145.3
Playing Next: The Birds Have Arrived (John)
Questionable Decision of the Week: Drafting from Hawaii during my last day on that particular vacation because I value disposable carnal pleasures more than lasting memories with my aging and loving parents
This ranking is like the number of inches I used to tell Tinder hookers after snapping them at 2AM: obviously inflated because I think I’m in control. A charitable read tells you that all of my risky/reachy picks paid off in spades and that I was one Desean Jackson start from starting the season off strong. A realistic assessment brings you back to the reality of the fact that depending on Desean Jackson for a victory is a lot like expecting me to bring you to orgasm. I’m just going to drop out before anyone crosses the line. Can’t wait to be 0-6 by the time AJ Green and Golden Tate come back, leaving me in a scramble for respectability that nobody respects, much like how I acquired my college degree.
Tumblr media
4. Poo Poo Point Diarrheas (Griff)
Record: 1-0 | PF: 136.2 | PA: 130.7
Playing Next: TEAM DUMPSTER BEARS (Lauren)
Questionable Decision of the Week: Being really fucking amped about his band despite ostensibly not being under the influence of cocaine
Griffin’s starting lineup is the quintessential example of boom or bust, which is odd, because I thought the quintessential example of boom or bust was his nightly decision between offing himself and masturbating. Every single one of his starting skill players suits up for the Panthers, the Chargers, or the Rams. That diversity is so poor that it makes Mendoza look like the fucking United Nations. I’d tell you to branch out, Griff, but your bench is thinner than you if you were half your size and if half your size wasn’t also still fat. Will Lutz, your kicker, almost tripled the score of your quarterback. As the signal-caller in question is none other than Cameron Newton, I imagine that we won’t be hearing from Tori for a while, as her resultant pussy surge at a black man’s failure sent all of her electronics into traction.

3. TEAM DUMPSTER BEARS (Lolo)
Record: 1-0 | PF: 173.4 | PA: 131.2
Playing Next: What cruel twist of fate caused me to do the rankings like this
Questionable Decision of the Week: Letting me find out you actually own a Deshaun Watson jersey as if I didn’t already have enough roasting ammunition
Wowie! High score! Hope you’re hard at work roasting up some tasty crow for me to eat after my little draft-day Clemson jab because A) You cook so infrequently you thought a “burner” was one of the twitter accounts you use to solicit Hunter Renfrow dick pics and B) this is the last week you even sniff this stratosphere of point-getting. It is not often I flex my fantasy football “expertise” because clearly I don’t know shit about fuck but anyone who’s played this sick game of roulette for more than one season has learned the unalienable truth that you CANNOT TRUST SAMMY WATKINS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Holy god that 46.8-spot is a bigger mirage than someone looking at your hair under favorable light and thinking it has volume. Sammy will get run over by a stock car, Deshaun will have his spleen removed in week 6 when Laremy Tunsil turns his back on a bootleg to get fitted for a new nicotine gas mask, and your chances of success will disappear faster than your willingness to take on any more of my emotional baggage once I let you in the cargo hold. Much like our relationship, enjoy it while it lasts.

2. The Queen’s Booty Lickers (Liv)
Record: 1-0 | PF: 145.3 | PA: 127.1
Playing Next: James White is Right (Tori)
Questionable Decision of the Week: We won’t find out till next week, when she gets in contact again and sends 14 messages, 13 of which relate to topics nobody remembers and 1 of which is feloniously horny
It is cruel fucking fate that the Eagles stans would fly to the top of the power rankings from the word go. I know I attract toxic elements to my life, but being friends with multiple people from Philadelphia is like trying to run a fever to get out of going to school and instead having both your arms fed into an original Eli Whitney cotton gin. Liv didn’t even draft her squad, which probably explains why both Dak and Amari are both properly valued and are on this roster, ready to put up a combined 245 points a game because NFC East teams treat defense like Louis CK does consent. They don’t really think about it much. Hey Liv, hope that reflective road vest is enough to save you when Griffin trips coming out of a show and rolls downhill for 5 miles. It’s a good thing you have OBJ because you both look like closeted lesbians trying to stand out in Catholic school.

1. The Birds Have Arrived (John)
Record: 1-0 | PF: 167.7 | PA: 73
Playing Next: Cartoon Colt Copulation (idk some guy, poor bastard)
Questionable Decision of the Week: Getting piss on the floor of his bathroom, totally missing my mouth
This is a truly upsetting squad about which to write a recap. John’s team put up the second-most points with consistent performances across the board despite having AB and Melvin Gordon on the shelf. I haven’t been this worried about two people returning since John’s parents told him they were just going down to the store for a pack of cigarettes. It’s tough to not look at this lineup and be intimidated, so now we all know how John’s organs feel when they receive the message from his tastebuds that there’s a combination of peanut butter, salsa, Drano, and barbeque sauce slathered on a cheesesteak coming down the hatch. At least that sub is still more palatable than his dating life. John wanted me to hear two words: Antonio Brown. I got 2(1) words for ya, John: You’re the Anthony Fantano of book reviews if Fantano looked like Steve Brule and had the follower base of the Shakers.

See ya next week!
